Arrival And Departure Analysis
Arthur Koestler whom Karski had met used Karski as one of the sources for his 1943 novel, Arrival
and Departure (in which Koestler tells the Belzec/Izbica story within his own fictional tale). He would
write in the New York Times about the difficulty of coming to terms with certain kinds of photos and
witnesses: A dog run over by a car upsets our emotional balance and digestion. 3,000,000 Jews killed
in Poland cause but a moderate uneasiness; statistics don t bleed, it is the detail which counts. We are
unable to embrace the total process with our awareness, we can only focus on little lumps of reality.
[...] People died to smuggle them [the photos] out of Poland [...]. [N]ine out of ten average American
citizens [...] answered it was all propaganda lies and they didn t believe a word of it. 1 So, in 1981

There were photos in a file of the Foreign Office (only declassified in 1972) that had been smuggled
into England in early 1942. These images of dying children and corpses in ghettos were so horrifying
that archivists had attached a label to the file: Warning: some images may cause distress . In
September 1942, the officials of the Foreign Office called them horrific .(these were separate from the
microfilms brought across the Channel by Karski which contained other photos and texts: Karski
arrived in London on November 25, 1942, but his microfilm was taken from Portugal by the British
officials he had met there, on November 17). But the officials were not the only ones who had seen
them, in the secret of political elites. Exactly the same pictures were published at the time and easily
seen by everybody who wanted to, in England, for example in Szmul Zygelbojm s 1942 pamphlet

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
The movie, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, is a historical fiction. It occurs some time in China
under a dynasty. Some of the events that happened in this movie relate to some of the material that we
covered in class. One event that happened was when Jen and her family travels through the desert and
were attacked by Lo and his Dark Cloud on horses. In my interpretation, I believe that Lo and his gang
of bandits, displayed some similarities to The Mongols. As seen in the movie, they rode and fought on
horses, were nomadic, and lived by raidings, which are things that Mongols are known for. They use
horses for mobility and height against their enemies. When Lo and Jen are in Lo s cave, he assumes
that she is part of a Han dynasty, but she corrects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Earlier in the movie, porcelain and silk were displayed.
Normally in East Asia, silk and porcelain were apart of the Chinese trading goods to parts of Europe,
which we discussed in class. It s a historical fiction because, let s be real, there weren t any flying
Chinese people sword fighting in a bamboo forest nor on rooftops. Maybe some of the events were
inaccurate because the director, Ang Lee, was Taiwanese or wasn t so sure about the concept, so
instead of hitting it straight on the nail, he decided to put some inaccuracy into the film. Also, I am not
so sure if they did tea ceremonies in China like they did in Japan, but in one scene in the movie, you
can see that Shu Lien purposely drops her tea while Jen catches it before it completely falls to the
floor. Shu Lien then figures that Jen is the one who stole the Green Destiny. As mentioned in a lecture,
we talked about Yin and Yang. I think that there could be some depictions of yin and yang inside the
movie. Since the movie is mainly female based, you could possibly see where I am coming from. Yin
and Yang, which stands for good and bad or negative and

Aboriginal Domestic Violence
1.0 The literature of Indigenous violence Qualitative and Quantitate Analysis
Domestic Violence pervasiveness amongst Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in
contemporary society is a menacing topic that is often neglected by the Australian government,
regardless of its severity. The definition of Domestic violence amongst Indigenous Australians and its
causes differ from the general understanding the Australians have of the term. This report will
examine the literature of domestic violence, elaborate on statistic and findings, provide perspectives
on stakeholders, support the hypothesis and offer recommendations.
Domestic violence refers to acts of violence (physical, sexual, emotional and psychological) that occur
between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other evidence, such as Appendix 2, indicates that domestic violence rates are higher in regional, rural
and remote areas. An area such Aurukun, located in North Western Queensland (Cape York), is an
Indigenous community which has experienced all forms of violence. Similarly, Alice Springs
communities and other remote communities in the Northern Territory are also susceptible to domestic
violence.
The causes of domestic violence amongst Indigenous Australians is not attributable to Aboriginal
culture. Instead, the patterns of current domestic violence originate from the violent dispossession of
the land between the Europeans settlers and Indigenous Australians.
Other influences of domestic violence are issues such as Childhood experience of violence and abuse,
High incarceration rates, Financial problems, Unemployment, Poor health, Lack of education, Racism
Loss of land and traditional culture can contribute to domestic violence

Caged Bird Analysis
The role of voices in text is to give meaning and to highlight the composer s attitudes and beliefs.
Maya Angelou s politically complex voice in Caged Bird explores her belief in the human rights for
equality, and the freedom for every individual regardless of race or creed. Paradoxically Bruce Dawe s
satirical and judgmental voice in Enter without so much knocking (Knock) conveys his criticisms of
society s shallow meaningless life. Caged Bird by Angelou makes the audience reconsider the real
conditions of the free bird and the caged bird . This contrast between the birds throughout the poem
enables her to explore the issues of freedom and isolation in African American society. Angelou
utilises various literary devices and techniques such as repetition, irony and imagery to convey her
attitudes and beliefs about the beauty of freedom. Repetition is used when the poem repeats the third
stanza at the end of the poem to further emphasis freedom, this reflects the two birds that are different.
for the caged bird sings of freedom is the last line of stanza three conveying an important message to
the readers, that the caged bird wants to be free. This allows the reader to conclude that every
individual should be aware and thankful for the freedom in their society. Although less direct in
conveying Angelou s attitudes and beliefs, she adequately utilises irony to enable us to further
appreciate freedom. The caged bird sings with a fearful trill evokes sympathy for

Uses Of A Foreign Language By Theresa Cha s Dictee
In the course of reading, the Asian American literature I was particularly amazed by the work done by
Theresa Cha in the book Dictee. Despite her Asian origin and the changing of the different places they
lived as immigrants, she tried her best to write about art and particularly the poems that have attracted
attention by literature scholars. Interesting is her use of mimicry to show the difficulty of speech, her
use of international race and nation conflicts to educate the readers as well as her uniting idea of cheap
nature of language and culture to show that integration is possible even without the mastery of the
native language of a place. In my essay, I endeavour to analyze Cha s use of language in her poems,
the stylistic devices she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, most of them are unidentified and the reader may not identify a specific person that speaks in
the different chapters. Thus, the audience may understand it is an embodiment of females focusing on
structuring the major theme of the book, which is gender inequality. Additionally, the description of
the female characters is equivocal such that the reader has to picture the image of the women.
Although the author provides various photos in the book, there is absence of an explanation. Before
this, the writer only concentrates on telling the story (Kim,165). Additionally, the author uses poetic
approach to explain the setting in the book, which gives the novel distinct styles of writing. In fact, the
poems are only meant to provide the reader with a description of the mothers and daughters, and this
creates a distinction in the narrative. Resultantly, the audience perceives that when a poem appears in
the reading, the author is probably narrating the plight of women. Notwithstanding, the novel uses
visual art technique to communicate to the audience. in many instances, the author does not provide a
description of an individual such that the reader has to imagine the person. In doing so, the readers are
in suspense but the author offers a drawing that may be used to demystify the situation. in support of
this style, it is apparent that the visual art may have

Prometheus s Journey
A new beginning was laid forth the day Prometheus discovered Individualism and the importance of
the ego, though for now, he had an experiential task laid upon his broad shoulders. Forevermore, he
will continue to spread the ideology which has blessed him, Gaia, and his newly born son, Odysseus.
Now that several years have passed since his grand discovery, his plans were to awe his once former
brothers and sisters with his new found knowledge. Moreover, Prometheus had been working on the
marvels of the old world with a working automobile (being a classic red convertible ford with a V8
engine) the most important. Likewise, he planned to use this automobile to travel to the dreaded city.

upon his return to the city it was deprived of any sign of it having a life. This came as a shock to
Prometheus for he felt he was obligated to liberate his once former friends. As Prometheus walked
throughout the city in search of his former department, there happened to be a smell so rancid it made
him almost vomit just by being there. Upon entering the Street Sweeper Department, he realized there
was a man lying flat on the smooth marble floor. This man was no other than International 4 8818 a
former colleague of his. Prometheus immediately asked what had become of the city to which
International started to respond. He explained to Prometheus that a plague had wiped out many the
people and those who were left without the immediate side effects had their off springs dying off as
soon as they left the womb. Afterward, International no longer has the will to continue asking
Prometheus to leave him to his suffering to which Prometheus immediately obeyed. Now with great
remorse, Prometheus sets course back home and he vowed that he would search for a bastion of

Theories Of Group Dynamics
CHAPTER 3:
THEORETICAL BACKGROUND POF THE STUDY:
1. THE FUNDAMENTALS OF GROUP DYNAMICS:
Group dynamics refers to the interactions between people who are talking together in a group setting.
Group dynamics can be studied in different settings, in classroom settings, and in social settings.
Any time there are three or more individuals interacting or talking together, there are group dynamics.
Another definition of group dynamics is the extent to which the team members in the group are
actively participating in decision making, sharing their ideas about the tasks, motivating co
employees.
Team and group dynamics are important is given to these dynamics plays a key role in overall success
of an organization.
Group dynamics can be referred to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The complexity of large groupings is partially because they are made up of interrelated subgroups. As
the size of a group increases, the need for more organization or leadership also often becomes more
obvious.
German sociologist GEORG SIMMEL argued that as the group becomes greater, the individual
becomes separated and grows more alone, isolated and segmented.
Simmel s view was somewhat ambiguous with respect to group size. On one hand, he believed that the
bigger the group the better for the individual. In a larger group it would be harder to exert control on
an individual, but there is a possibility of the individual becoming distant impersonal.
Group dynamics can be referred to group development and movement in time towards its goals
substantiated by the interaction and communication of group members and the external influences. It
considers the set of social and psychological processes and phenomena that take place during the
whole life cycle of the group.
Group dynamics covers all stages of group development starting from its creation, functioning,
development, stagnancy, regress and break up. Based on the mentioned definitions, in the given work

Differences Between Chinese And Us Middle School Teachers
Mathematics Education: The Differences in Teaching Methods Between Chinese and US Middle
School Teachers As an increasing number of students are taking part in standardized tests and national
competitions, parents, teachers, and educators have become aware that students in different countries,
ranging from elementary schools to high schools, perform unevenly in many subject areas. In recent
years, researchers have done numerous cross national studies to investigate the reason why students
performances vary nationwide. One of the subjects that contain a huge gap is students achievement in
mathematics in Asia and America. It has been noticed for some time that Asian students generally
receive higher scores on national mathematics contests ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, the Ministry of Education specifies the curriculum for schools in China nationally. Almost
every school in China uses the same textbooks for all subjects. Conversely, the system in the US is not
as centralized. Individual schools and teachers have the right to decide what textbooks to use and what
knowledge to teach (Stigler, Lee, and Stevenson 3). Teachers in China and the US use different
strategies to engage students to learn new mathematical concepts; US teachers prefer to organize
introductory activities, while Chinese teachers usually teach new materials directly with no opening
activities. For example, when teaching the procedure of fraction multiplication, most US teachers have
students apply manipulations such as playing with money or drawing and coloring areas in order to
evoke students interests. Data shows that 18% more teachers in the US than in China use
manipulation. Conversely, Chinese teachers rarely rely on such manipulative activities. They tend to
teach the concepts and methods using area and repeated addition. Unlike the US teachers, they
illustrate the methods by suggesting real problems and showing the proper strategies to use for
different problems. 91% of Chinese teachers give examples of problems to teach the rules of fraction
multiplication, whereas only 4% of US teachers use the same method (An,

Global Epistemological Skepticism Essay
Epistemological skepticism is the idea that individuals lack knowledge or justification for a specific
group of propositions (Barnett, 2014). Skepticism with respect to all propositions is known as global
skepticism, and it reveals that knowledge is nonexistent (2014). The regress problem is a difficulty in
epistemology, where an idea has to be justified, because the justification itself has to have further
reasoning (2014). The infinite regress argument concludes that individuals lack justification and
knowledge (since knowledge requires justification) through its premises, but non doxastic evidence
ends the regress argument without circularity or arbitrariness. The infinite regress argument dates back
to Sectus Empiricus, 3rd century ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, B cannot be a reason for B itself, and second, a reason for B cannot alternate between B and that
reason. In other words, circular reasoning is expelled from being proper justification, and foundational
reasons are not sufficient due to the absence of a further reason. If both conditions are true, then the
chain of reasons for any belief is potentially infinite or unlimited. The problem with infinitism is that
an infinite number of beliefs, whether potential or not, do not exist. Humans have finite minds and
finite lives, and eventually after being questioned numerous times there will be no more reasons that
could be possibly formed to justify a belief. For example, when a child continues to ask his or her
parent Why? , after a series of reasons the parent will not be able to devise an answer to the question.
Therefore, infinitism is not a strong response to skepticism. Coherentism is the view that individuals
have justified beliefs, which result from a finite system of beliefs that promote each other non
circularly without the requirement for justification outside of the system (2014). For coherentism,
justification is a procedure in which all of the beliefs are seen wholly as a system rather than
individual parts. For example, V , V , and V are beliefs. The beliefs V , V , and V work together to
achieve epistemic justification without the need for any further

Persuasive Essay On Cheating On Homework
In Survey I, 91.9% of the participants reported that they have cheated on at least one homework
assignment; however, when asked why they receive answers, 13.5% of the participants stated that they
do not receive answers (Appendix D). Therefore, it can be concluded that some students believe that
cheating on homework assignments is not considered as immoral. This may further explain why
students cheat.
Furthermore, 91.9% of students reported cheating at least once, albeit 51.4% of students stating that it
s bothersome when others cheat (Appendix D). This is due to self serving bias, which is when people
blame other individuals when their action negatively affects them, while they blame the situation
when their act negatively affects others (Boyes, 2013). For example, if someone gets into a car
accident, one automatically assumes that person is a bad driver, while if one gets into a car accident
himself, one will find excuses and say it was not their own fault. Similarly, when a student cheats in
high school, they find reasons to justify that action, even when they know it is wrong, which is the
case with 62.2% of students in this survey (Appendix D). However, when another student cheats in the
same class, it is bothersome to some students because they see it as unfair and disrespectful on the
student s part.
Moreover, 24.3% of students reported that they cheat because they want to help their friends out
(Appendix D). Therefore, when they see others, who are not their friend

evenly around the egg. For example, an egg can be thrown like a baseball and sometimes the egg won

break but if it is evened out around the egg, the egg has a higher chance of not breaking. Along with
evening out the force, it will also benefit the egg if the impact is decreased with the help of outside
objects surrounding the egg. The structure should absorb and deflect the force of impact. The design

Father and Son Relationship in William Shakespeare s...
Father and Son Relationship in William Shakespeare s Henry IV and V
Shakespeare deals with a parent child relationship in the historical plays of Henry IV Parts One and
Two in the characters of Henry Bullingsworth (Henry IV) and his son Hal (Prince of Wales, later
Henry V). The fact stands clear in the development of the son, Hal: the son s success in life is not
dependent on his relationship to his father politically, but success is demonstrated when there is a
realization of both parties on the level of parental love. Hal is not living up to his name, but also to
blame in his father s failure to love. Our discussion is based solely on the text itself, based primarily
on three main dialogues between Hal and his father. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(I Hen. IV iii, ii 18,19, 26 28). Hal s response shows the formality of the relationship with his father.
This is where the fact of the shared responsibility of Hal s condition comes to life. The fact of the
father s background helps us to realize that the King got where he is by sacrificing a few things, one of
them his relationship with is older son. And perhaps it may be stated tritely: like father, like son. Hal is
coping with not having a father figure, and acting perhaps as his father would. Perhaps this initial
confrontation could be a Cat in the Cradle theme, where the father suddenly realizes that his boy is
just like me, my boy is just like me .
The father responds God pardon thee! in the continuing awkwardness of the situation. The king
promotes the informalness to the talk. He lists specific failures that he sees in Hal s life and reactions
to the situation. They include: losing his place in the Council to his younger brother (32,33), alienating
himself from the rest of the family (33,34), losing the respect and hope of the people for a good
successor to the throne (36 38), and making a mockery of all the king worked for (46 84). Then the
kicker by the frustrated father:
And in that very line, Harry standest thou,/For thou hast lost they princely privilege/With vile
participation. Not an eye/But is a weary of they common sight,/Save mine, which hath desir d to see

Descartes Skeptical Argument And Reponses By Bouwsma And...
Descartes Skeptical Argument and Reponses by Bouwsma and Malcolm
In this essay, I will examine Rene Descartes skeptical argument and responses by O.K. Bouwsma and
Norman Malcolm. I intend to prove that while both
Bouwsma and Malcolm make points that refute specific parts of Descartes argument in their
criticisms, neither is sufficient in itself to refute the whole. In order to understand Descartes argument
and its sometimes radical ideas, one must have at least a general idea of his motives in undertaking the
argument.
The seventeenth century was a time of great scientific progress, and the blossoming scientific
community was concerned with setting up a consistent standard to define what constituted science.
Their science was based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More significantly, Descartes implies that all consciousness could actually be a dream state, thus
proving that the senses can be doubted. The dream argument has its intrinsic problems, however. One,
is that images in dreams can be described as quot;painted images quot;.2
In other words, a dream image is only a portrait of a real life object, place or person. If we are
dreaming then it is implied that at some point we were conscious and able to perceive these things. If
we are able to perceive these things then we must admit that we have senses and that our senses are, at
least in part, true. This was exactly what Descartes was trying to disprove, and it was one reason he
abandoned the dream argument.
The second problem with this argument is that it points to mathematics as a point of certainty. I
believe Descartes best explained this in his own words:
quot;[W]hether I be awake or asleep, two plus three equals five and a square does not have more than
four sides: nor does it seem possible that such obvious truths can fall under the suspicions of falsity.
quot;3 Even when we are dreaming, the laws of mathematics and geometry hold true, but they can not
be Descartes point of certainty for a simple reason; these abilities that Descartes believed were innate
still had to come from somewhere. If they are in our heads when we are born, someone had to put
them there. Descartes question is who, and he comes up with

I would like to end sending our troops in because I feel as if they are fighting over nothing they don t
need to fight for other countries but, for us to save our children and our families not theirs. It s their
fault they are in that mess and I don t want our country in something like that either. We need to
protect not destroy. I would like to do this to stop death of our families. I believe that anything is
possible and I want to hear your ideas and thought on what needs done and want you want done. I
would also like to cut the interest down for house payments and medical bills. Some families can t get
out of a bad house conditions or move out because of how much money they have to pay for medical
bills, like my family can t move out because she is still paying medical bill from having a baby and a

The Relationship Between Nissan And Mitsubishi
Description of the Situation
One of the most spoken and discussed issues in the business world has become establishing the
association between the Nissan and Mitsubishi car producers. After the scandal that occurred as the
Mitsubishi falsified its fuel economy tests, the cooperation with Nissan is like a lifeline to the
company. Nissan s decision to buy an influential share of Mitsubishi s assets is believed to bring
benefits to both participants of the process. While this deal would help the Mitsubishi corporation to
improve its image after the cheating scandal, Nissan also expects to increase its profits by using the
recognizability of Mitsubishi s brand in the eastern countries. Under the conditions of growing global
competition in the automobile industry, the alliance between the large Japanese and European car
producers is supposed to radically strengthen the positions of both companies on the market.
However, the formation of this alliance would not involve the complete merger of the companies.
Nissan shared information regarding taking a 34% stake in Mitsubishi Motors , which would allow
Nissan to gain de facto control over the processes within Mitsubishi ( Nissan Is Buying ). With one
third of the assets, Nissan would become Mitsubishi s main investor. The Nissan company has an
objective of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the situation with Mitsubishi is a great example of the realization of the concept of competition and its

Teaching Methods and Student Achievent
Introduction There are many views on how to educate children of the 21st century. Today s education
world is focused on student achievement based on standardized test scores. Each year, teachers,
districts, and states participate in state testing which shows progress toward a common goal per state,
proficiency in academic core content. However, these standardized tests vary from state to state and
examined at the national level. Therefore, the level of accuracy cannot be determined as to which
states, school districts, and school sites are making great strides to close the achievement gap.
Effective teachers are closing the gap by using a variety of strategies and methods in the classroom.
Statement of the Problem Since the adoption of the No Child Left Behind laws of 2002 states, school
districts, and teachers have been on a mission to find ways to make instruction and learning
meaningful to students while meeting the goals set forth by the national and state legislatures while
closing the achievement gap and making sure students are successful. Over the years, many new
trends as to how to close the achievement gap have flourished. With these trends come numerous
amounts of research proving why a particular new teaching methodology is going to work over
another; states, school districts, and school sites are at the mercy of these trends to help close the gap
to meet the national educational goal of all students must be successful in school. The notion NCLB

Dracula Untold By Count Orlok
To understand how vampires were originally supposed to be, we must visit the first vampire.
Nosferatu was one of the first ever vampire movies and set the standard for movies yet to come. The
main character, Count Orlok casted by Max Schreck, played the role quite the opposite from the
movies we see today. Count Orlok wasn t the Edward Cullin kind of vampire that most people tend to
think. He was a man that suffered from a dreaded curse; Schreck played the vampire more like an
animal rather than a human being. In the plot of the movie, the opening scene we see The Count trying
to purchase an isolated house in Transylvania. Once people realize that Count Orluck is actually a
vampire, he starts a plague that causes many deaths in the town. ... Show more content on

Vampires seem to be the norm now whether it s a scary Halloween movie or a romantic comedy;
however, the new movie Dracula Untold makes the audience relate to the monster. The story begins
with a young man named Vlad. Later in the movie, the audience finds out that the Turks are
threatening Vlad s kingdom, and he must find a way to stop them. The empire is forced to give out
1000 young boys in order to train them and fight them against the Turks. Vlad refuses to do that and
must find some way to protect his family, protect the boys, and his entire kingdom. In desperation, he
makes a visit to a vampire and asks if he can help him defeat the Turks. The vampire tells him there
are consequences. The vampire offers him some of his blood, which will temporarily give the young
prince the powers of a vampire. If Vlad resists the intense urge to drink human blood for three days,
he will turn back into a human. Otherwise, he will remain a vampire forever. Vlad accepts the offer
and drinks the vampire s blood. He then wakes up and discovers that he has heightened senses,
increased strength, and the ability to transform into a flock of bats. He then kills the leader of the
Turkish army and sends his son off with a trustworthy monk to keep him away from the vampires.
After seeing this movie, the audience not only relates to the vampire, but also feels sorry for him. The
reason Dracula came to be was because he put his family and kingdom before him, and it also seems
like a human like thing to

Violations of Human Rights in the Arab-Israeli Conflict
Since the beginning of the Arab Israeli conflict there have been countless human rights violations
committed by both sides, but the majority of violations have been carried out by Israel against the
Palestinians. In looking at the conflict, one may believe that every attack has featured a human rights
violation, but in order to be able to properly determine what human rights violations are, one must
know the history of human rights and how they are protected. The idea of human rights started with a
man named Henri Dunant, who was a merchant present during the Battle of Solferino in Italy. In
viewing this battle from a distance, Henri was disturbed by the mass amounts of dead and injured

The UN Human Rights Council was formed at the 2005 World Summit and has the mission of
investigating human rights violations around the world. The Rights Council works in conjunction with
the UN Security Council and the International Criminal Court to prevent and deal with human rights

parties that are engaged in armed conflict to follow The Hague Conventions of 1899 and 1907 and
Protocols I and II from the Geneva Conventions. In adopting this resolution the UN Security Council
wanted to focus on the protection of civilians during armed conflict and they stated that, Appropriate

Besides these international organizations there are many NGOs, Non governmental organizations,

Edgar Allan Poe s The Purloined Letter
In Edgar Allan Poe s The Purloined Letter, the reader is introduced to an unnamed narrator who also
reviews the murders in, The Murders in the Rogue. He sits with his friend, C. Auguste Dupin, who
solved them in that story. In The Purloined Letter, the prefect of the Paris police arrives and presents
his case: a letter has been taken from the royal apartments, but the police know who has taken the
letter. According to the prefect, a young woman possessed the letter, which contains sensitive
information that could sabotage the image of a powerful official. The individual responsible for taking
the letter is Minister D another important government official. Minister D reads the letter and writes a
replica of his own. Upon leaving the royal apartment, he takes the original letter and leaves his replica
behind. Duplin throughout the story argues, that the Paris police cannot follow the game that Minister
D is playing when it comes to finding the location of the letter. The Paris police are only searching for
the letter in places where they believe the letter would be hidden. Therefore, Minister D is wise
enough to not hide it in familiar places like areas in his home. ... Show more content on

The, The Irate Lord Is Thermodynamic Standard
In Rifkin s cosmology, the irate Lord is thermodynamic standard. The principal law of

Entropy is somewhat clearly the primal reason for our vitality emergency: we are blazing fossil
powers we can t supplant, while the supposed atomic arrangement will require more vitality to
develop and keep up than it can ever be relied upon to come back to us.
Entropy, Rifkin additionally contends, is for the most part in charge of not just social and monetary
issues clearly coming about because of the vitality emergency, additionally for issues felt much sooner
than fossil fills ran rare. Issues of scale, for occurrence: a wrongdoing rate duplicating geometrically
as urban areas increment in size. An educational system weakening subjectively, even as it

Here entropy gets to be not a conspicuous, quickly obvious physical rule, but rather an illustration for
what happens when establishments develop so extensive that, as with some parts of the interstate
thruway framework, a bigger number of assets most be spent on upkeep than upon really doing
whatever they should do in any case. The weapons contest, the populace blast, and our present
malignancy scourge, Rifkin cases, are all entropy exemplified.
Maybe, to a degree, since some entropy is inescapable. Yet, the connection between the amount of
data our schools confer and the amount of vitality their physical upkeep exhausts is dubious, no doubt.

Theological Reflection Essay
Many weeks have passed since I last wrote about my theological perspective at length. I began the
class with lots of questions, and I do not believe I can say for sure that they have been answered, but I
can say that I am now at peace with the idea that some of my questions may not be able to be
answered in this life. It amazes me that I have been able to grow so much in such a short period of
time. The growing pains were great, but the reward was greater. I feel that I am in a much better place
in my life now. In the past few months, I have tried to reclaim some of the closeness to God that I feel
I have been missing. It has not been easy for me to give up control of my life. I have strong tendencies
to be in control of what goes on, so that I have some inclination of how to prepare to react. As a result
of learning to let go, I feel much less fearful of the future or my place in it. Not only has this class
helped me come to terms with the idea that I should not have total control over my life, but it has also
reminded me of things I had forgotten about. It truly left me pleasantly surprised with the content of
the class. I cannot lie, much of the curriculum contained information that I already had some
knowledge of, but that is only a result of my obsessive research in the pursuit of answers. However,
something that I appreciated greatly was the inclusion of the Apocrypha. Further, I appreciated that
verses from Apocryphal books were used in the same way that Canonical verses were used. This was
one of the biggest problems I had with the way Christianity has always been taught to me. Many
exclude the Apocrypha as if it does not even exist, much less as an original piece of the non canonical
Bible. This fact, colloquially stated, has always seemed sketchy to me. I was not even aware of its
existence until about a year ago. My foundations were shaken a little when I found out. I compare it to
finding out about a long held family secret. I could not find anything in what I read of the Apocrypha
to be too out there, so I did not understand why it was never mentioned in the first place. It seemed to
me that if they were so set on not mentioning it, there could be a whole array of other texts/writings
that

Inequality In Jane Eyre
I am no bird and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being with an independent will (Bronte, Jane
Eyre 293). In the Victorian time period Charlotte Bronte lived the unequal life as a woman, like many
others. The only difference is Bronte did not believe in living in inequality, and she wrote about her
hardships in her literature. In her book, Jane Eyre, the reader can see many similarities in her main
character s life and her own. Jane Eyre has many ways of showing how Victorian women were
expected to be and act, included in the life of Jane. Bronte also continues her portrayal of the
inequality of women and the decision of love versus autonomy through two of her poems, Life and
The Wife s Will. Charlotte Bronte displays the inequality in life of women in the Victorian era by
taking her life and revitalizing it into themes of her works, by providing a journey of discovery of love
or autonomy. To start, Charlotte Bronte experienced many hardships from a young age, and rather than
letting them hinder her, she grew from them. Bronte experienced loss at a young age, losing her
mother and two of her sisters, and she illustrated almost the exact same loss through Jane and Helen at
Lowood (Bock). She effectively portrays her life s setbacks through her works in which we can see
many of her misfortunes paraphrased into Jane s own. In Jane Eyre, Jane was sent to the school,
Lowood, where they believe in plain fare, simple attire, unsophisticated accommodations, (and) hardy
and active habits to teach young girls how to conform to society s views (Bronte 42). Charlotte Bronte
herself was sent to Cowan Bridge to learn how to present herself in any situation a lady may come to,
and the school basically taught women how to become governesses and teachers because that s all
they could be, much like in the book (Bock). Bronte went through tough times in her life, but readers
know how well she used those tough times to influence her work and end up finding a will to live
through her writing. For example, in The Wife s Will when the wife is talking about her hard times,
making her cry, she states how the tears never lasted that long with the help of her husband (Bronte).
This can be taken as a poem Bronte wrote

  • 2. Arrival And Departure Analysis Arthur Koestler whom Karski had met used Karski as one of the sources for his 1943 novel, Arrival and Departure (in which Koestler tells the Belzec/Izbica story within his own fictional tale). He would write in the New York Times about the difficulty of coming to terms with certain kinds of photos and witnesses: A dog run over by a car upsets our emotional balance and digestion. 3,000,000 Jews killed in Poland cause but a moderate uneasiness; statistics don t bleed, it is the detail which counts. We are unable to embrace the total process with our awareness, we can only focus on little lumps of reality. [...] People died to smuggle them [the photos] out of Poland [...]. [N]ine out of ten average American citizens [...] answered it was all propaganda lies and they didn t believe a word of it. 1 So, in 1981 Karski said: When the war came to its end, I learned that the governments, the leaders, the scholars, the writers, did not know what had been happening to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were photos in a file of the Foreign Office (only declassified in 1972) that had been smuggled into England in early 1942. These images of dying children and corpses in ghettos were so horrifying that archivists had attached a label to the file: Warning: some images may cause distress . In September 1942, the officials of the Foreign Office called them horrific .(these were separate from the microfilms brought across the Channel by Karski which contained other photos and texts: Karski arrived in London on November 25, 1942, but his microfilm was taken from Portugal by the British officials he had met there, on November 17). But the officials were not the only ones who had seen them, in the secret of political elites. Exactly the same pictures were published at the time and easily seen by everybody who wanted to, in England, for example in Szmul Zygelbojm s 1942 pamphlet Stop Them Now: German Mass Murder of Jews in ... • 3. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon The movie, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, is a historical fiction. It occurs some time in China under a dynasty. Some of the events that happened in this movie relate to some of the material that we covered in class. One event that happened was when Jen and her family travels through the desert and were attacked by Lo and his Dark Cloud on horses. In my interpretation, I believe that Lo and his gang of bandits, displayed some similarities to The Mongols. As seen in the movie, they rode and fought on horses, were nomadic, and lived by raidings, which are things that Mongols are known for. They use horses for mobility and height against their enemies. When Lo and Jen are in Lo s cave, he assumes that she is part of a Han dynasty, but she corrects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Earlier in the movie, porcelain and silk were displayed. Normally in East Asia, silk and porcelain were apart of the Chinese trading goods to parts of Europe, which we discussed in class. It s a historical fiction because, let s be real, there weren t any flying Chinese people sword fighting in a bamboo forest nor on rooftops. Maybe some of the events were inaccurate because the director, Ang Lee, was Taiwanese or wasn t so sure about the concept, so instead of hitting it straight on the nail, he decided to put some inaccuracy into the film. Also, I am not so sure if they did tea ceremonies in China like they did in Japan, but in one scene in the movie, you can see that Shu Lien purposely drops her tea while Jen catches it before it completely falls to the floor. Shu Lien then figures that Jen is the one who stole the Green Destiny. As mentioned in a lecture, we talked about Yin and Yang. I think that there could be some depictions of yin and yang inside the movie. Since the movie is mainly female based, you could possibly see where I am coming from. Aboriginal Domestic Violence 1.0 The literature of Indigenous violence Qualitative and Quantitate Analysis Domestic Violence pervasiveness amongst Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in contemporary society is a menacing topic that is often neglected by the Australian government, regardless of its severity. The definition of Domestic violence amongst Indigenous Australians and its causes differ from the general understanding the Australians have of the term. This report will examine the literature of domestic violence, elaborate on statistic and findings, provide perspectives on stakeholders, support the hypothesis and offer recommendations. Other evidence, such as Appendix 2, indicates that domestic violence rates are higher in regional, rural and remote areas. An area such Aurukun, located in North Western Queensland (Cape York), is an Indigenous community which has experienced all forms of violence. Similarly, Alice Springs communities and other remote communities in the Northern Territory are also susceptible to domestic violence. The causes of domestic violence amongst Indigenous Australians is not attributable to Aboriginal culture. Instead, the patterns of current domestic violence originate from the violent dispossession of the land between the Europeans settlers and Indigenous Australians. • 5. Caged Bird Analysis The role of voices in text is to give meaning and to highlight the composer s attitudes and beliefs. Maya Angelou s politically complex voice in Caged Bird explores her belief in the human rights for equality, and the freedom for every individual regardless of race or creed. Paradoxically Bruce Dawe s satirical and judgmental voice in Enter without so much knocking (Knock) conveys his criticisms of society s shallow meaningless life. Caged Bird by Angelou makes the audience reconsider the real conditions of the free bird and the caged bird . This contrast between the birds throughout the poem enables her to explore the issues of freedom and isolation in African American society. Angelou utilises various literary devices and techniques such as repetition, irony and imagery to convey her attitudes and beliefs about the beauty of freedom. Repetition is used when the poem repeats the third stanza at the end of the poem to further emphasis freedom, this reflects the two birds that are different. for the caged bird sings of freedom is the last line of stanza three conveying an important message to the readers, that the caged bird wants to be free. This allows the reader to conclude that every individual should be aware and thankful for the freedom in their society. Although less direct in conveying Angelou s attitudes and beliefs, she adequately utilises irony to enable us to further appreciate freedom. The caged bird sings with a fearful trill evokes sympathy for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Uses Of A Foreign Language By Theresa Cha s Dictee In the course of reading, the Asian American literature I was particularly amazed by the work done by Theresa Cha in the book Dictee. Despite her Asian origin and the changing of the different places they lived as immigrants, she tried her best to write about art and particularly the poems that have attracted attention by literature scholars. Interesting is her use of mimicry to show the difficulty of speech, her use of international race and nation conflicts to educate the readers as well as her uniting idea of cheap nature of language and culture to show that integration is possible even without the mastery of the native language of a place. In my essay, I endeavour to analyze Cha s use of language in her poems, the stylistic devices she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, most of them are unidentified and the reader may not identify a specific person that speaks in the different chapters. Thus, the audience may understand it is an embodiment of females focusing on structuring the major theme of the book, which is gender inequality. Additionally, the description of the female characters is equivocal such that the reader has to picture the image of the women. Although the author provides various photos in the book, there is absence of an explanation. Before this, the writer only concentrates on telling the story (Kim,165). Additionally, the author uses poetic approach to explain the setting in the book, which gives the novel distinct styles of writing. In fact, the poems are only meant to provide the reader with a description of the mothers and daughters, and this creates a distinction in the narrative. Resultantly, the audience perceives that when a poem appears in the reading, the author is probably narrating the plight of women. Notwithstanding, the novel uses visual art technique to communicate to the audience. in many instances, the author does not provide a description of an individual such that the reader has to imagine the person. In doing so, the readers are in suspense but the author offers a drawing that may be used to demystify the situation. in support of this style, it is apparent that the visual art may have ... Now that several years have passed since his grand discovery, his plans were to awe his once former brothers and sisters with his new found knowledge. As Prometheus walked throughout the city in search of his former department, there happened to be a smell so rancid it made him almost vomit just by being there. Upon entering the Street Sweeper Department, he realized there was a man lying flat on the smooth marble floor. This man was no other than International 4 8818 a former colleague of his. • 8. Theories Of Group Dynamics CHAPTER 3: THEORETICAL BACKGROUND POF THE STUDY: 1. THE FUNDAMENTALS OF GROUP DYNAMICS: Group dynamics refers to the interactions between people who are talking together in a group setting. Group dynamics can be studied in different settings, in classroom settings, and in social settings. Any time there are three or more individuals interacting or talking together, there are group dynamics. Another definition of group dynamics is the extent to which the team members in the group are actively participating in decision making, sharing their ideas about the tasks, motivating co employees. Team and group dynamics are important is given to these dynamics plays a key role in overall success of an organization. Group dynamics can be referred to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The complexity of large groupings is partially because they are made up of interrelated subgroups. As the size of a group increases, the need for more organization or leadership also often becomes more obvious. German sociologist GEORG SIMMEL argued that as the group becomes greater, the individual becomes separated and grows more alone, isolated and segmented. Simmel s view was somewhat ambiguous with respect to group size. On one hand, he believed that the bigger the group the better for the individual. In a larger group it would be harder to exert control on an individual, but there is a possibility of the individual becoming distant impersonal. Group dynamics can be referred to group development and movement in time towards its goals substantiated by the interaction and communication of group members and the external influences. It considers the set of social and psychological processes and phenomena that take place during the whole life cycle of the group. Group dynamics covers all stages of group development starting from its creation, functioning, development, stagnancy, regress and break up. • 10. Differences Between Chinese And Us Middle School Teachers Mathematics Education: The Differences in Teaching Methods Between Chinese and US Middle School Teachers As an increasing number of students are taking part in standardized tests and national competitions, parents, teachers, and educators have become aware that students in different countries, ranging from elementary schools to high schools, perform unevenly in many subject areas. In recent years, researchers have done numerous cross national studies to investigate the reason why students performances vary nationwide. One of the subjects that contain a huge gap is students achievement in mathematics in Asia and America. It has been noticed for some time that Asian students generally receive higher scores on national mathematics contests ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, the Ministry of Education specifies the curriculum for schools in China nationally. Almost every school in China uses the same textbooks for all subjects. Conversely, the system in the US is not as centralized. Individual schools and teachers have the right to decide what textbooks to use and what knowledge to teach (Stigler, Lee, and Stevenson 3). Teachers in China and the US use different strategies to engage students to learn new mathematical concepts; US teachers prefer to organize introductory activities, while Chinese teachers usually teach new materials directly with no opening activities. For example, when teaching the procedure of fraction multiplication, most US teachers have students apply manipulations such as playing with money or drawing and coloring areas in order to evoke students interests. Data shows that 18% more teachers in the US than in China use manipulation. Conversely, Chinese teachers rarely rely on such manipulative activities. They tend to teach the concepts and methods using area and repeated addition. Unlike the US teachers, they illustrate the methods by suggesting real problems and showing the proper strategies to use for different problems. 91% of Chinese teachers give examples of problems to teach the rules of fraction multiplication, whereas only 4% of US teachers use the same method (An, ... • 11. Global Epistemological Skepticism Essay Epistemological skepticism is the idea that individuals lack knowledge or justification for a specific group of propositions (Barnett, 2014). Skepticism with respect to all propositions is known as global skepticism, and it reveals that knowledge is nonexistent (2014). The regress problem is a difficulty in epistemology, where an idea has to be justified, because the justification itself has to have further reasoning (2014). The infinite regress argument concludes that individuals lack justification and knowledge (since knowledge requires justification) through its premises, but non doxastic evidence ends the regress argument without circularity or arbitrariness. The infinite regress argument dates back to Sectus Empiricus, 3rd century ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, B cannot be a reason for B itself, and second, a reason for B cannot alternate between B and that reason. In other words, circular reasoning is expelled from being proper justification, and foundational reasons are not sufficient due to the absence of a further reason. If both conditions are true, then the chain of reasons for any belief is potentially infinite or unlimited. The problem with infinitism is that an infinite number of beliefs, whether potential or not, do not exist. Humans have finite minds and finite lives, and eventually after being questioned numerous times there will be no more reasons that could be possibly formed to justify a belief. For example, when a child continues to ask his or her parent Why? , after a series of reasons the parent will not be able to devise an answer to the question. Therefore, infinitism is not a strong response to skepticism. Coherentism is the view that individuals have justified beliefs, which result from a finite system of beliefs that promote each other non circularly without the requirement for justification outside of the system (2014). For coherentism, justification is a procedure in which all of the beliefs are seen wholly as a system rather than individual parts. For example, V , V , and V are beliefs. The beliefs V , V , and V work together to achieve epistemic justification without the need for any further ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Persuasive Essay On Cheating On Homework In Survey I, 91.9% of the participants reported that they have cheated on at least one homework assignment; however, when asked why they receive answers, 13.5% of the participants stated that they do not receive answers (Appendix D). Therefore, it can be concluded that some students believe that cheating on homework assignments is not considered as immoral. This may further explain why students cheat. Furthermore, 91.9% of students reported cheating at least once, albeit 51.4% of students stating that it s bothersome when others cheat (Appendix D). This is due to self serving bias, which is when people blame other individuals when their action negatively affects them, while they blame the situation when their act negatively affects others (Boyes, 2013). For example, if someone gets into a car accident, one automatically assumes that person is a bad driver, while if one gets into a car accident himself, one will find excuses and say it was not their own fault. Similarly, when a student cheats in high school, they find reasons to justify that action, even when they know it is wrong, which is the case with 62.2% of students in this survey (Appendix D). However, when another student cheats in the same class, it is bothersome to some students because they see it as unfair and disrespectful on the student s part. Moreover, 24.3% of students reported that they cheat because they want to help their friends out (Appendix D). Therefore, when they see others, who are not their friend ... For example, an egg can be thrown like a baseball and sometimes the egg won t break if it lands from a high toss into grass. When the force of an egg is focused at one point it will break but if it is evened out around the egg, the egg has a higher chance of not breaking. Along with evening out the force, it will also benefit the egg if the impact is decreased with the help of outside objects surrounding the egg. The structure should absorb and deflect the force of impact. The design should lift the egg up allowing the structure around it to take some of the impact before it reaches the egg. It will be filled with cardboard separators that will keep the square of styrofoam, with the egg in it, from touching the bottom and sides of the cardboard box. The separators will be shaped like bridges and multiple separators will be placed around the inside of the cardboard box. The less force and impact on the egg the better. The egg itself is made up of many part inside. It has the shell around the outside, the membrane, the air pocket, the white, and the yolk. Laying the egg on its side makes the egg more susceptible to it breaking. The longer sides of the egg are the weakest part. The top and bottom of the egg are the stronger. Father and Son Relationship in William Shakespeare s Henry IV and V Shakespeare deals with a parent child relationship in the historical plays of Henry IV Parts One and Two in the characters of Henry Bullingsworth (Henry IV) and his son Hal (Prince of Wales, later Henry V). The fact stands clear in the development of the son, Hal: the son s success in life is not dependent on his relationship to his father politically, but success is demonstrated when there is a realization of both parties on the level of parental love. Hal is not living up to his name, but also to blame in his father s failure to love. The fact of the father s background helps us to realize that the King got where he is by sacrificing a few things, one of them his relationship with is older son. And perhaps it may be stated tritely: like father, like son. Hal is coping with not having a father figure, and acting perhaps as his father would. Perhaps this initial confrontation could be a Cat in the Cradle theme, where the father suddenly realizes that his boy is just like me, my boy is just like me . The father responds God pardon thee! in the continuing awkwardness of the situation. The king promotes the informalness to the talk. He lists specific failures that he sees in Hal s life and reactions to the situation. Descartes Skeptical Argument and Reponses by Bouwsma and Malcolm In this essay, I will examine Rene Descartes skeptical argument and responses by O.K. Bouwsma and Norman Malcolm. I intend to prove that while both Bouwsma and Malcolm make points that refute specific parts of Descartes argument in their criticisms, neither is sufficient in itself to refute the whole. In order to understand Descartes argument and its sometimes radical ideas, one must have at least a general idea of his motives in undertaking the argument. The seventeenth century was a time of great scientific progress, and the blossoming scientific community was concerned with setting up a consistent standard to define what constituted science. More significantly, Descartes implies that all consciousness could actually be a dream state, thus proving that the senses can be doubted. The dream argument has its intrinsic problems, however. One, is that images in dreams can be described as quot;painted images quot;.2 In other words, a dream image is only a portrait of a real life object, place or person. If we are dreaming then it is implied that at some point we were conscious and able to perceive these things. If we are able to perceive these things then we must admit that we have senses and that our senses are, at least in part, true. This was exactly what Descartes was trying to disprove, and it was one reason he abandoned the dream argument. The second problem with this argument is that it points to mathematics as a point of certainty. I believe Descartes best explained this in his own words: quot;[W]hether I be awake or asleep, two plus three equals five and a square does not have more than four sides: nor does it seem possible that such obvious truths can fall under the suspicions of falsity. quot;3 Even when we are dreaming, the laws of mathematics and geometry hold true, but they can not be Descartes point of certainty for a simple reason; these abilities that Descartes believed were innate still had to come from somewhere. • 33. Inequality In Jane Eyre I am no bird and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being with an independent will (Bronte, Jane Eyre 293). In the Victorian time period Charlotte Bronte lived the unequal life as a woman, like many others. The only difference is Bronte did not believe in living in inequality, and she wrote about her hardships in her literature. In her book, Jane Eyre, the reader can see many similarities in her main character s life and her own. Jane Eyre has many ways of showing how Victorian women were expected to be and act, included in the life of Jane. Bronte also continues her portrayal of the inequality of women and the decision of love versus autonomy through two of her poems, Life and The Wife s Will. Charlotte Bronte displays the inequality in life of women in the Victorian era by taking her life and revitalizing it into themes of her works, by providing a journey of discovery of love or autonomy. To start, Charlotte Bronte experienced many hardships from a young age, and rather than letting them hinder her, she grew from them. Bronte experienced loss at a young age, losing her mother and two of her sisters, and she illustrated almost the exact same loss through Jane and Helen at Lowood (Bock). She effectively portrays her life s setbacks through her works in which we can see many of her misfortunes paraphrased into Jane s own. In Jane Eyre, Jane was sent to the school, Lowood, where they believe in plain fare, simple attire, unsophisticated accommodations, (and) hardy and active habits to teach young girls how to conform to society s views (Bronte 42). Charlotte Bronte herself was sent to Cowan Bridge to learn how to present herself in any situation a lady may come to, and the school basically taught women how to become governesses and teachers because that s all they could be, much like in the book (Bock). Bronte went through tough times in her life, but readers know how well she used those tough times to influence her work and end up finding a will to live through her writing. For example, in The Wife s Will when the wife is talking about her hard times, making her cry, she states how the tears never lasted that long with the help of her husband (Bronte).
