The Economic Globalization Of The United States
The economic globalization of any given county is the increase of economic integration of the nation
in the world s economy and is the result of cross border movement of goods, services, technologies
and capital. Economic globalization has been seen to help developing countries arrive at a more stable
and stronger economic because of its positive effects on crucial issues such as GDP, and their trade as
well as their special interactions with different countries, such as the joining of the European Union.
France was no exception to this. France in the post war era after World War II saw significant change
with their economy, becoming a more open country in the world markets and a stronger, financially
stable country.
Before this period, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gross National Growth (GNP) is the measure of how an economy is performing and what a country
has produced. While Gross domestic product (GDP) is the size of a states total annual economic
activity. France s GNP fluctuated in the early 20th century because of the events posed upon the
country. In the table below we are able to get a sense of how the economy of France does in the 20ths
century and it is clear that their post World War II interval is the most successful. It is that specific
time frame in which France s economy starts to flourish. This could essentially be because after the
world wars mostly everything needed to be reconstructed. Many factors help contribute to a nation s
GDP and GNP rates. Agriculture, construction, manufacturing, services, transport and utilities are all
included when calculating GDP. GNP is greatly affected by the population that is within a country.
Higher GDP s tend to be associated with EU members such as France in comparison to the rest of the
world. There have been sudden drops in the French GDP growth rates but that doesn t essentially
effect the welfare of the people. Many argue that GDP rates do show how a country is doing
economically but they do not accurately show the welfare of the citizens. William Ray from
Psychology Today states that GDP draws attention away from the real measurement of a country s and
people s progress our overall well being. This

Market Liberalisation Success, Failures And Challenges
Evidence of Market Liberalisation Success, Failures and Challenges The BRIC emerging economies
are some of the most successful market liberalisers with India having particular prosperity in
liberalising its inward capital flows and currency convertibility from 1991 to foreign investors. Post
liberalisation India is regarded as one of the fastest growing economies with an annual growth rate of
6.86% compared to 4.07% pre liberalisation (World Bank, 2014). Economists such as Saikia (2012)
regards this success down to India s rise in investment. In the decade after reforms FDI inflows to
India has grown by a staggering sixty fold increase to $6 billion (Kletzer, 2004) showing how the
India economy has become a major destination for FDI and is reaping the economic benefits. One of
the policies causing this attraction is the ongoing gradual privatisation of varied sectors. This
gradualism approach has promoted efficiency through competition away from monopolized state
owned enterprises but also into global competition. The increased profitability of this process has
created an environment for investors to thrive upon. Aside from India s great success the issue of the
continued dominant role of state owned banks is an ongoing issue. India follows our theoretical
argument of being inefficient due to government guarantees and consequently must fund
recapitalisation in the light of declining market share and profitability. However recent private bank
involvement in crises around the

Australian Television Industry
Good morning Ms Angrisano and my fellow students. Today I will be speaking to you about the
changing nature of the Australian television industry from 1950 s to 2010. Television was introduced
in Australia around 1956. It was popular to the extent that within a few years it was the main source of
entertainment. This effected the way Australians live. They began staying at home more rather than
going to the movies or going to play sports. America played a big part on this as it was our main
influence. Australia enjoyed their shows, fashion, values and latest trends. Just like America
influencing Australia, Australia also impacted on countries worldwide. Australia was no longer an
isolated island, Television has joined a gap between Australia and other countries this was done
through staying up to date and getting in with new trends. Since television has increased popularity ...

Television stations started focusing on sports, music, movies and many exciting shows. Television
flourished and began to be vital in all Australian households. Children could watch creative colourful
cartoons for hours and family s enjoyed watching their favourite shows together.
The 1980 s was the rise of rock and roll, fashion and modern clear pictures. Sports programmes
flourished especially cricket and sports gambling.
In the 1990 s technology was the main focus of all countries around the world. Companies such
Microsoft and Apple had a huge impact of technology in general especially the technological advances
in digital television and pay television. This has gained most Australians the abitily to choose freely
what they would like to watch such as movies, news, sports for more than 24 hours a day. These
varieties has also open the channel to more technological development and business

Examples Of Deviance In The Office
The Office is a comedic mockumentary that takes place in Scranton, Pennsylvania and focuses on the
lives of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company Inc. employees over the course of nine years. It has many
characters, but mainly centers around Michael Scott, the regional manager, Dwight Schrute, Jim
Halpert (both salesman) and Pam Beesly, the receptionist. Over its nine seasons, the show has
displayed many sociological concepts, but has the most examples of deviance, sex and gender,
socialization and social interaction and groups and organization. Deviance in The Office is displayed
mainly through one of its minor characters, Creed Bratton. While he appears to be a normal person, he
often reveals things that are incriminating and is defined by his deviance ... Show more content on

In the episode Gay Witch Hunt , one of Dunder Mifflin s employees, Oscar Martinez, is outed by the
regional manager, Michael Scott, to all his employees. After he does this, Oscar has to deal with the
repercussions of being gay in the workplace, some of which include dealing with homophobic
questions and attitudes towards him, especially from his more conservative co worker, Angela Martin.
Later in the show, Angela gets married to the senator of Scranton, and has a baby that, is later revealed
in the episode Jury Duty , conceived out of wedlock. The baby doesn t end up being the senator s at
all, but is instead another Dunder Mifflin employees , Dwight Schrute, after the two had an affair.
Lastly, sexism in the workplace, especially in the episode Back from Vacation , is shown to be a fairly
large issue. Michael Scott spreads around a picture of Jan Levinson, the vice president of sales and his
unofficial girlfriend, from their vacation in Jamaica in which she is nearly naked. He does this without
her approval, and it s spread to everybody in both the office and to the warehouse, and eventually
makes its way into the higher management

Union University Art Gallery Analysis
Union University Art Gallery plays host to several different artists galleries throughout the year, for
free and open to the public. Currently on display is Hodgepodge , a collection of about ten canvases
by Brian Bundren. While Bundren has been painting and displaying his artwork for quite some time
(his first gallery was in the mid 1990s!), Hodgepodge contains paintings only from 2013 2016. All of
the artwork shows great precision and attention to detail. The colors are vibrant and rich. That is not to
say the colors were bright or cheerful (only one painting was particularly bright ), but the colors were
all pure and distinct. Most of the paintings, in my opinion, would fit under the umbrella of surrealism.
Walking into the gallery immediately starts to produce feelings of unease and perhaps feelings of
being threatened. The individual objects in the paintings are very realistic but mashed together in
unnatural ways. Only one painting, J.V. s Thunderbird , felt calm ; it did not cause me to personally
feel discomfort, even though it was not peaceful. It was a large canvas displaying an underwater scene
in bright blue. A Thunderbird was half visible along the bottom edge of the canvas. A deep sea diver

There is a muzzle, open and snarling, behind a few peonies. At first glance, it appears to be the muzzle
of a dog, but careful inspection of the shape of the nostrils, mandible, and placement of what appears
to be the eyes, it looks more to be a baboon, one of the great ape family. Pink peonies (there are two in
full bloom and one bud) commonly represents love and honor, while white peonies (there is one at the
bottom) represents shyness or bashfulness. For me, this painting shows that for every good thing there
is in the world, there is the other behind it: an oft uncontrollable, primal force that is hidden beneath

Comparing Pandora s Box And The Flying Dutchman
Stories Explained
Introduction
Myths, fairy tales, folk tales, legends and fables we all grew up hearing various wonderfully
descriptive stories from each of the above listed categories. We might not have known that there are
different categories for the stories we heard, maybe you thought, just like me, that a story was just a
story: something to entertain and captivate you on a rainy day or a trigger to ensure vastly creative
dreams as it is read moments before you fall asleep. Each of the stories that you have heard belongs to
a specific category.
Myths and legends are both based on historical events, but neither of them is true since the events
went undocumented and no proof was found to substantiate the claims. In a myth the story ... Show

Curiosity is a trait that must be tamed otherwise it might lead to your downfall, is Pandora s Box s
main theme. Zeus lied to Pandora when he told her that she may not open it the box, this later piqued
her curiosity about the box. These two themes go well together because so often, when we hear people
tell lies, we become curious.
The conclusion
Every story had a different theme, setting, storyline and characters. But even though these stories were
completely different, it was still possible to find similarities between them. The differences between
them are what make them special and wonderfully unique.
Stories are such a valuable instrument to teach children important life lessons and morals. It is a way
to connect with them at their level so that they can process and understand what you are trying to say.
Even if they only subconsciously catch the underlining lesson you weaved into the story, it is still
there and the child will always use that story as reference. Stories stay with us forever

Traveling Is The World s Piggy Bank
Traveling Effects
Going to a new place can be scary and exciting, while visiting relatives can be familiar and . Traveling
has many effects overall The point is the sky is the limit; traveling gives personal insight into the
world beyond the bedroom window; it gives us a license to become a citizen of the world.
First, traveling is the world s piggy bank. In the year 2015 a total of 650.8 billion dollars was spent by
domestic and international travelers on leisure ( U.S. Travel Answer Sheet ). For example, the money
spent on those amazing adventures available. Like scuba diving, parasailing, and even trying new
foods. A burger for example will cost more in a different location then it might at home. The cost of
living plays into how much should be saved, depending on the destination. Likewise, the economy
worldwide profits from all the traveling that goes on. The tax revenue for 2015 was 147.9 billion
dollars ( U.S. Travel Answer Sheet ). Thus proving traveling is encouraged and a great way to spend
without feeling guilty. Furthermore, it helps build jobs! 15.1 million to be exact in the year 2015 ( U.S.
Travel Answer Sheet ). How wonderful it is to be helping the world especially those third world
countries. Tourism is encouraged and it is providing profit for the world instead of just one country.
What a great way to add points to a world citizen license.
Equally, important traveling is life changing. By going outside, the usual area, city, state, country can

Examples Of A Relationship Essay
Relationship Advice All you need is love. Relationships are the building blocks of a happy life. Not
taking into account the acquaintances, who you don t know anything about, your friends and loved
ones are the only place you can go to relax and feel at home. Healthy relationships are based on trust,
honesty, listening, knowing each other, valuing the strengths and accepting the differences. A healthy
relationship doesn t mean that it is always sunshine and rainbows. It is built upon the fact that two
people are ready to work through the low times and cherish the good times. Unhealthy relationships
show signs of jealousy, egoistic problems, disrespect, judgment, intimidation and sometimes even
violence. Assessment Start with assessing your relationships. Do ... Show more content on

Ambitious people often cling together. You will never see a hippie having a healthy relationship with a
CEO. Their goals, paths and lives are entirely based on different structures. Do you even have goals?
Don t live a life of aimless existence. Be accountable for your life and live for a purpose. Resolve
conflicts Sometimes all you need to do is work on your differences. No matter how charming two
people find each other, a small conflict can lead to jealousy, hurt and huge misunderstandings which
can lead to suffering in the relationship. Show your dedication towards the relationship and work on
your issues. And afterwards you ll find your relationship was worth more than you had assumed.
Conclusion There is never a perfect person and there is never a perfect relationship. All you can have
is a fulfilling relationship and that ll come from nowhere else but your own heart. Have a big heart and
give your best to the relationship, however cheesy that might sound. After all, real love is not like in
the movies where it s all about romantic dinners, nice music and luxury. It is about will, individuality,
respect, trust and most of all

How Isolation Affects The Behavior Of Different Animals
Different species occur when the genes in the animal mutate overtime. This changes the appearance
and the behaviour of the now slightly different animal. Eventually these traits will make them change
and evolve to their environment. This can happen when separation isolates them this also prevents the
different animals interbreeding. Eventually this isolates the two different species that were once one.
Isolation and separation can occur by geographical barriers such as oceans, rivers, mountain ranges or
climatic barriers like rainfall, temperature, sunlight, ocean currents. For example birds must have all
come from one set of the same breed. This means that budgerigars are related to eagles. They are only
different because of the environment and the amount of accessible food and water. For instance the
eagles are bigger than the budgies because eagles don t fly in flocks to make them self look big
however budgies do need to, to protect themselves. This is a survival trait that has developed and
evolved over the generations.
The birds in the image are slightly different because of isolation and separation over time. The beak

A Brief Synopsis Of The Emerging Ethanol Fuel Industry
A brief synopsis of the Emerging Ethanol Fuel Industry
Ethyl alcohol or grain alcohol, commonly known as Ethanol (commonly seen as E 85 at the gas
pumps) has a long history in the United States. Henry Ford considered it the fuel of choice. [1] In fact,
his very first automobile, built in 1896, ran solely on ethanol. He said, There is enough alcohol in one
year s yield of an acre of potatoes to drive the machinery necessary to cultivate the fields for a
hundred years. But it s use in that capacity on a commercial scale was never realized due to the
abundant resources and soon to arrive efficient production processes of petroleum products. However,
with the highly volatile petroleum markets, mounting environmental concerns and the increase of
gasoline fuel prices it is being reconsidered. To where in 2013, ethanol use had displaced as much as
462 million barrels of imported oil, reducing the dependence on foreign oil by 6 percent. [2]
From an Economical View
In the last 10 years alone gasoline fuel prices have doubled, from just over $1.59 a gallon in 2004 to
$2.59 a gallon, as of December 2014. But the unstable fluctuations in the market, along with the
nation trying to unshackle itself from the dependence of foreign petroleum, along with the added fear
that the world has reached or is on the verge of reaching peak oil has spurred renewed interest within
the alternative fuel industry as a whole, with the primary focus focused on ethanol. [3] On the
economic front,

Sources Of Diversity In Films
When doing research for my topic, Diversity in Films, I came across many sources. The first source
that I found was a scholarly journal named, Teaching Sociology. The journal, that was written by Mari
Dagaz and Brent Harger, had a short segment about diversity in films. One of the main points that
stood out was one about how women and minorities are portrayed in films. It stated that women and
minorities in film are usually underrepresented and based on traditional stereotypes. This point is what
I believe is one of the strengths of this source. This is because that short segment allowed me to think
about my topic more and opened my eyes to what I really needed to look for. Although, the fact that it
did not specify a certain minority nor give examples would be a weakness of the source. The fact that
the journal did not give good examples of the lack of diversity in films, would be considered the
sources weak trait. If the journal would have given an example of a stereotype that is used or an
example of how women and minorities are portrayed, it would have made the journal a lot stronger.
But, since it did not, it caused me to have to look to other sources that would give me some kind of
example. So the article basically forced me to have to look to other places that provided the
information that it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

films and TV? The article was about how minorities and women are falling behind at the box office.
What is meant is that they are not being represented as much in big blockbusters. A strength from this
article is that it actually gave statistical information about the topic it was presenting. For example,
when talking about a minority lead in feature films, it states that in 2013 it dropped from 16.7% to
12.3%. Even though it features good statistical values, that article did have a downside to

The New Curriculum For The Foundation Stage
In 2008 the new curriculum for the foundation stage in wales began its roll out. Its aim was to bring
consistency and continuity to children s education, thus transforming early year s education in Wales.
The principles on which the curriculum is based are that children should be provided with a good basis
for future learning and the ability to apply their learning to everyday situations. Leighton Andrews, the
former education minister, said in an article on the Welsh Government website that the curriculum was
designed to allow all children to flourish whatever their stage of development or learning ability
(Andrews, 2010). The Framework for Children s Learning for 3 to 7 Year olds in Wales (here forth
known as The Framework ) outlines 7 key areas of learning. These are Personal and social
development, well being and cultural diversity , Language, literacy and communication skills ,
Mathematical development , Welsh language development , Knowledge and understanding of the
world , Physical development and Creative development . The curriculum focuses on holistic learning,
meaning that whilst there are 7 separate areas of learning, they are to be taught in a way which
entwines them together allowing for children to develop skills such as everyday problem solving by
understanding that mathematics is not merely a school subject but a skill which is used in everyday
life.
This essay will explore the ways in which the curriculum should be delivered to foundation stage

The Transition From Junior Secondary School
The transition from Junior Secondary School to Senior School is one of the most significant and
complex processes young people experience. They not only encounter the social and intellectual
changes of this period of development, but are also faced with a myriad of factors which influence
their lives after school completion, including making decisions regarding their future goals and
aspirations (Kohler Field, 2003; Tillecczek et al, 2010). One of the major issues that young people
experience is a lack of understanding of what it is they want to do in the future and the learning
pathways available for future success (Tilleczek et al 2010; Wyn, 2009). I recently overheard a

I began a Master s program at the University of British Columbia School of Population and Public
Health last September. This was a culmination of my desire to understand the connections between
societal issues and life sciences, and to strengthen my problem solving skills in this regard. In the
short time that I have been at the program, I had the chance to understand more about what a career in
clinical trials would entail, and to develop the focus of my research thesis at an advanced level. My
exposure to clinical research has also confirmed my passion for the field, as there are days where I
work all through the night and into the early hours of the morning, sustained by sheer passion. In
consideration of these factors namely my skills, my academic interests and natural proclivities, I have
been inspired to transfer from the Masters to the PhD program. Ultimately, I intend to develop my
skills up to the doctoral level. It therefore makes sense to take on an opportunity to achieve this goal
sooner rather than later. While the Masters program has given me the opportunity to develop my thesis
research aims and interests, the PhD program will afford me the knowledge and hands on experience
to effectively and responsibly execute on my research interests. My research experiences and interests

Dramaturgical Metaphor Erving Goffman
Erving Goffman s above statement, referencing actors and public image, is a clear allusion to his
dramaturgical metaphor, which is one branch of his work on symbolic interactionism. His
dramaturgical metaphor delves into the premise that we are all actors who perform to others as our
audience (Goffman, 1990). It is this metaphor which will be evaluated and analysed for its
sociological significance, as well as the practical implications of the statement above, and what it
means to be sociologically significant. Many other sociologists have also tackled the depths of
Symbolic Interactionism, or the themes explored by the dramaturgical metaphor, of the likes of, Mead
and Blumer. Their insights and contributions will be discussed concerning Goffman s statement.
However, it is Goffman s dramaturgical metaphor which will be of the most help in evaluating the
statement given and its sociological significance. Although, as relayed above, other sociologists work,
such as Meads idea of the self being split into the I and the Me, and their individual functions will be
important in helping us further evaluate the statement, and its sociological significance (Pampel,
2007). As will Blumer s three pronged approach to symbolic interactionism, allowing us to grasp a
basic understanding of the concepts and frameworks surrounding symbolic interactionism, and

The Noble Qur an
The Qur an, also known as Kitah Allah (the book of God) is the religious text of Muslim Scripture. It
is the revelation of God that the Prophet Muhammad received by the archangel Gabriel and written in
Arabic language. It provides Muslims with guidelines and detailed teachings for a just society, proper
human behaviors, and an egalitarian economic system. One can only truly understand the teachings of
the Qur an by exploring the life of the prophet Muhammad and grasping the important message and
tone that is held within the book.

His dedication to spread the message of God was phenomenal and he did not give up despite his harsh
treatment. Muhammad received some good news from the city of Yathrib. The city was in need of a
leader and pledged to obey and worship Allah alone and defend him to the death. Muhammad and his
loyal followers fled to Yathrib and left the city of Mecca. Yathrib was later renamed Medinat al Nabi,
the City of the Prophet, and is now known as Medina, the City. Muhammad died in 632, having
conquered all of Arabia for Islam.
He was loved and highly respected by man Muslims. His battle for peace never ended and his message
from God continues to spread present day.
The Qur an was written over a period of twenty three years beginning on December 22 609 CE, and
concluding in 632. Muslims claim that Muhammad spoke the whole Quran to his followers and many
of them memorized the verses word by word and later wrote it down. The Qur an was divided into 114
chapters, called surah(s). These chapters are arranged according to length, which vary from 3 to 286
verses. The chapters of the Qur an also have a title that comes from a word that is written within the
text. However, some titles are not linked to the subject matter in each surah. The titles have names
such as The Cow (Surah 2), Noah (Surah 71), and The Most High (Surah 87). Each Sura contains an

Autonomy is the personal rule of the self that is free from both controlling interferences by others and
from personal limitations that prevent meaningful choice (Pantilat, 2008). Autonomous individuals act
intentionally, with understanding, and without controlling influences. Respect for autonomy is one of
the fundamental guidelines of clinical ethics. Autonomy in medicine is not simply allowing patients to

role in deciding treatments and consulting the patient s family on advance directives. This
fragmentation and discontinuity of care is pervasive once the patient reaches the end of life, and thus
helps explain why treatment decisions at the end of life often differ from the wishes of the family and
even the patient.
The relationship between a physician and his or her patient is inherently driven by outcomes. By
default, a physician is trained to cure or mitigate the effects of the patient s illness until natural death.
However, the instinctive behavior of physicians at the end of life can result in more harm by
encouraging advanced treatments that reduce the quality of life in a patient s remaining days.
Evidence has demonstrated that this leads to greater dissatisfaction among patients and their families,
and it results in unnecessarily high instances of death in hospital

The Intake Of Daily Foods
Over the course of three days, the intake of daily foods was documented in the iProfile food journal
tracking system. The iProfile provides information on a nutritional analysis report that examines the
macronutrients of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats when measured to the Recommended Dietary
Intake (RDI) for overall health. The results will provide data to determine if the individual is
consuming the recommended nutrients for strength, their metabolism, and to ensure that other body
components are functioning. Diet Analysis Carbohydrates When analyzing the comparison of the
percentages intake of carbohydrates, the dietary recommended intake (DRI) in iprofile was 45 65%.
The outcome of the three day process displays that I am within an acceptable range of 57%. However,
the foods that were part of the three day diet consisted of various carbohydrates such as complex,
simple, and fiber. Despite, that many people try to avoid or cut starches, they are vital to an individual
health for several reasons. However, the body used carbohydrate as the primary source for providing
energy, to protect against diseases, controlling weight, which all factors are important in a healthy diet
(Mayo Clinic, 2016). An importance of carbohydrates in the diet, it can easily store in both the

Pros And Cons Of Video Games
The world of virtual reality is loved by people who are fan of video games. However, the main victims
to get so deeply absorbed in this kind of world are children (as young as 7 years old). It is easy for
young minds to become addicted to something they are possibly not yet ready for; especially screens
and consoles. Video games are not good for kids since it isolates them from real life, could encourage
violent behaviors and ideas, and chips away at their social skills. Children could spend the whole day
sitting in one place and be perfectly happy with a device. A major con is that the majority of them
become unaware of their surroundings because the children might be too hypnotized by what is being
held in their hands. Most children are quite easy to entertain, but entertainment should not be provided
by video games. When he or she becomes addicted to video games and accustomed to a style of this
kind of entertainment, they probably would favor staying in one place on their electronics instead of
experiencing real life. Childhood is when kids are slowly learning the differences between reality and
fantasy. If a child is not mature enough, and if he or she is exposed to video games at that age, then it
might be difficult for them to differentiate fantasy from reality. Fantasy is usually fun, so a child might
rather believe that what they see in a video game will happen in real life. Kids are like sponges, so
when they take in all of what they see into their minds, it s

Mask Ventilation Essay
Although ventilation is not usually provided during the apnoeic period, some anaesthetists will give a
single breath, or several gentle breaths, to both confirm that mask ventilation is possible and reduce
the development of hypercapnia, acidaemia, and hypoxia. Some guidelines advocate use of mask
ventilation for this reason in patients at elevated risk of hypoxia, for example, the pregnant patient.4,5
Apnoeic oxygenation is increasingly used, especially in critically unwell patients, to provide an
oxygen rich environment in the oropharynx to minimise hypoxia during the apnoeic period of RSI.6
This is provided by an alternative oxygen source, commonly via nasal prongs with oxygen flow at 10
litres per minute or more, or via insertion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This pressure is maintained until endotracheal tube placement is confirmed. The rationale is that the
upper oesophagus is occluded by being compressed between the trachea and the cervical vertebrae,
preventing passive reflux of gastric contents.
Cricoid pressure should be released if laryngoscopy is difficult, or if vomiting occurs (to reduce the
chance of oesophageal rupture from active vomiting). Suspected or known laryngeal or unstable
cervical spine injury contraindicates use of cricoid pressure.
Controversy around cricoid pressure
Although routinely performed in many parts of the world particularly the United Kingdom, North
America, and Australia cricoid pressure is contentious. It is not common practice in Europe, and some
pre hospital organisations do not endorse its use.
Concerns include:
reduced quality of laryngoscopy,
lack of evidence of effectiveness in preventing reflux and aspiration,
reduced lower oesophageal sphincter tone and therefore increasing reflux

Paul comes with a thought of purchasing two franchises instead of one because he realizes there are 13
of the franchisees have multiple stores. The reason behind having multiple stores is because Mr. Paul
thinks the start up costs and operating expenses would be no higher than for a single store operation.
Mr. Paul has two friends in mind that he would think would be a great partner to operate the franchise.
Two of his friends will purchase a minority equity position of the franchise and it would be a great
help for Mr. Paul because he would have additional capital.
City A, B or Both There are two existing locations that are available for Mr. Paul. One of the stores is
located in City A and the other one is located in City B. Both cities have different advantages and
disadvantages. Store that is located in City A is currently in franchise operation but the owner is
planning to sell the franchise on the market due to family problems. Size of the store is inexpertly
smaller than he has imagined. However, many people describe the location as the only good retail
location in the city. On the other hand, the store in City B is located in one of the newest malls in an
area surrounded by upscale housing and extensive development. In term of size, store in City B is
much bigger compare to the store in City A. Mr. Paul is certain that both of these stores would be well
above his expectation for start up operations. He also owns a house in City B and he is willing

The Factors Of Teenage Pregnancy
Teenage pregnancy is normally identified as a deprived life choice, for example, tasks of teenage
parenting have long term impact on the mental health of the mother and children (Statistics New
Zealand, 2003). It is important to identify the socioeconomic factors of teenage pregnancy to lower the
chances of mental health problems in young mothers. In this paper the aim is to analyse the main
socioeconomic factors of teenage pregnancy and discuss how it affects the mental health of an
adolescent mother in New Zealand. This essay will commence by identifying how a lack of education
is considered as a socioeconomic factor associated with teenage pregnancy, followed by the second
theme which will consist of economic circumstances such as, parental unemployment and welfare
dependency. Lastly, this essay will discuss how deficiency of support from family and friends leads to
unstable relationships, which has a huge impact on a teenage mother s mental health. A lack of
education is one of the main socioeconomic factors which impact the mental health of an adolescent
mother. Studies show a number of negative outcomes that are linked with dropping out of school at an
early age. For example, youth that tends to gain fewer educational qualifications are more likely to be
in unstable relationships resulting in a lack of knowledge regarding contraceptive use which leaves
them to deal with economic circumstances (Breheny Stephens, 2008; Friesen, Woodward, Fergusson,

Boo Radley Villain
Maycomb County had recently been told it had nothing to fear but fear itself. This fictional town in
Alabama seems to be nothing but a tired, old, slow town. Beneath the surface it has many underlying
secrets. One specific rumor that has been flying through the town for many years is about a young
man named Boo Radley. Within the first eight chapters of this book Boo has been categorized as a
villain. Everyone in the small town of Maycomb seems to know about him and his family and
different stories have been passed around. Some say he dines on raw squirrels and any cats he could
catch. Others believe he once stabbed his father in the leg with scissors and thought nothing of it. And
some townspeople think he is dead. Dill, Jem, and Scout become infatuated with this man and his
story. They dare each other to touch the house, try and contact him by putting notes on a fishing pole

Understanding Cultural Identity
Understanding Your Cultural Identity Children begin to develop a sense of identity as individuals and
as members of groups from their earliest interactions with others (McAdoo, 1993; Sheets, 1999a)
(Trumbull and Pacheco 9). The very idea of being able to understand your own culture can better you
as a person and give you an even deeper understanding of life. Such cultural things you should
understand is your beliefs, the types of food you eat, what types of ethnicity they belong to, and even
where you live. These four things can give you a deeper understanding of your own culture. Now a

Marriage Equality

I do but I can t (Herdt, G., Kertzner, R., 2006), the inequalities of marriage are not issues that are new
or just starting to make the news in this recent decade. There have been centuries upon centuries of
individual fighting for the right to marry. What do these individuals look like and why can t they be
free to marry whom they desire? These individuals that fight for rights to marry vary in race, gender,
ethnicity, and religion all around the world they ask, plead and beg marriage equality. They are

Hepatitis A Case Studies
Hepatitis A is an infectious disease caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV). Hepatitis A affects the liver
and may cause inflammation of the liver and affect the liver s functioning. This disease can be spread
by eating or drinking contaminated food or water. This disease can also be spread by close contact
with infected individuals. If one does not wash their hands properly before preparing food or drink,
they run the risk of contaminating the food with the hepatitis A virus (National Institute of Diabetes
and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, 2017).

Department of Health and Human Services (2006), receiving the hepatitis A vaccine is the best way to
prevent hepatitis A. There are two vaccines that help protect individuals against hepatitis A: the
hepatitis A vaccine and the hepatitis A and B combination vaccine. The hepatitis A vaccine protects all
age groups against hepatitis A, while the combination vaccine only protects adults. The hepatitis
vaccine is given in two doses. It is recommended that children get vaccinated at 12 to 23 months and
again at 2 to 4 years. Adults who were not vaccinated as children can get vaccinated at any time so
long as they get each dose 6 to 18 months apart. Some people should not get the hepatitis vaccine,
such as those who are allergic to the vaccine ingredients and immune compromised individuals. If you
are sick, you should wait until you feel better to get the vaccine. The vaccine can also be given as post
exposure prophylaxis (after one contracts hepatitis A), to help fight the disease. Additionally, other
preventive measures for hepatitis A are improved sanitation, such as proper hand washing, and food
safety measures The hepatitis A virus can live on surfaces for months and can be killed with household
cleaning products that contain bleach. Additionally, heating food to above 185 degrees Fahrenheit with

Should The United States Be Allowed To Carry A Concealed...
It has been legal to carry a conceal weapon since 2013 when Illinois became the last state to allow
concealed weapon permits. After it passed a poll concluded that 52.3% of their population felt less
safe after it passed in 2013. According to a 2010 poll over 55% of our population felt less safe when
learning that it s legal to carry in public places.
You have to be a certain kind of person to be able to properly carry and operate without making it
obvious or having the risk of an accident. Some states are taking this to lightly. Georgia and Maryland
require no training before receiving their concealed permit. In Alaska, Arizona, Wyoming and
Vermont you don t need a permit to legally concealed carry. This should be taken more seriously. I
think that every state should force you to get training before having the chance to get a concealed
permit. If an uninformed person is carrying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second amendment supports the right to carry a concealed weapon in public. Responsible citizens

  • 2. The Economic Globalization Of The United States The economic globalization of any given county is the increase of economic integration of the nation in the world s economy and is the result of cross border movement of goods, services, technologies and capital. Economic globalization has been seen to help developing countries arrive at a more stable and stronger economic because of its positive effects on crucial issues such as GDP, and their trade as well as their special interactions with different countries, such as the joining of the European Union. France was no exception to this. France in the post war era after World War II saw significant change with their economy, becoming a more open country in the world markets and a stronger, financially stable country. Before this period, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gross National Growth (GNP) is the measure of how an economy is performing and what a country has produced. While Gross domestic product (GDP) is the size of a states total annual economic activity. France s GNP fluctuated in the early 20th century because of the events posed upon the country. In the table below we are able to get a sense of how the economy of France does in the 20ths century and it is clear that their post World War II interval is the most successful. It is that specific time frame in which France s economy starts to flourish. This could essentially be because after the world wars mostly everything needed to be reconstructed. Many factors help contribute to a nation s GDP and GNP rates. Agriculture, construction, manufacturing, services, transport and utilities are all included when calculating GDP. GNP is greatly affected by the population that is within a country. Higher GDP s tend to be associated with EU members such as France in comparison to the rest of the world. There have been sudden drops in the French GDP growth rates but that doesn t essentially effect the welfare of the people. Many argue that GDP rates do show how a country is doing economically but they do not accurately show the welfare of the citizens. William Ray from Psychology Today states that GDP draws attention away from the real measurement of a country s and people s progress our overall well being. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Market Liberalisation Success, Failures And Challenges Evidence of Market Liberalisation Success, Failures and Challenges The BRIC emerging economies are some of the most successful market liberalisers with India having particular prosperity in liberalising its inward capital flows and currency convertibility from 1991 to foreign investors. Post liberalisation India is regarded as one of the fastest growing economies with an annual growth rate of 6.86% compared to 4.07% pre liberalisation (World Bank, 2014). Economists such as Saikia (2012) regards this success down to India s rise in investment. In the decade after reforms FDI inflows to India has grown by a staggering sixty fold increase to $6 billion (Kletzer, 2004) showing how the India economy has become a major destination for FDI and is reaping the economic benefits. One of the policies causing this attraction is the ongoing gradual privatisation of varied sectors. This gradualism approach has promoted efficiency through competition away from monopolized state owned enterprises but also into global competition. The increased profitability of this process has created an environment for investors to thrive upon. Aside from India s great success the issue of the continued dominant role of state owned banks is an ongoing issue. India follows our theoretical argument of being inefficient due to government guarantees and consequently must fund recapitalisation in the light of declining market share and profitability. However recent private bank involvement in crises around the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Australian Television Industry Good morning Ms Angrisano and my fellow students. Today I will be speaking to you about the changing nature of the Australian television industry from 1950 s to 2010. Television was introduced in Australia around 1956. It was popular to the extent that within a few years it was the main source of entertainment. This effected the way Australians live. They began staying at home more rather than going to the movies or going to play sports. America played a big part on this as it was our main influence. Australia enjoyed their shows, fashion, values and latest trends. Just like America influencing Australia, Australia also impacted on countries worldwide. Australia was no longer an isolated island, Television has joined a gap between Australia and other countries this was done through staying up to date and getting in with new trends. In the 1990 s technology was the main focus of all countries around the world. Companies such Microsoft and Apple had a huge impact of technology in general especially the technological advances in digital television and pay television. • 5. Examples Of Deviance In The Office The Office is a comedic mockumentary that takes place in Scranton, Pennsylvania and focuses on the lives of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company Inc. employees over the course of nine years. It has many characters, but mainly centers around Michael Scott, the regional manager, Dwight Schrute, Jim Halpert (both salesman) and Pam Beesly, the receptionist. Over its nine seasons, the show has displayed many sociological concepts, but has the most examples of deviance, sex and gender, socialization and social interaction and groups and organization. Deviance in The Office is displayed mainly through one of its minor characters, Creed Bratton. In the episode Gay Witch Hunt , one of Dunder Mifflin s employees, Oscar Martinez, is outed by the regional manager, Michael Scott, to all his employees. After he does this, Oscar has to deal with the repercussions of being gay in the workplace, some of which include dealing with homophobic questions and attitudes towards him, especially from his more conservative co worker, Angela Martin. Later in the show, Angela gets married to the senator of Scranton, and has a baby that, is later revealed in the episode Jury Duty , conceived out of wedlock. The baby doesn t end up being the senator s at all, but is instead another Dunder Mifflin employees , Dwight Schrute, after the two had an affair. Lastly, sexism in the workplace, especially in the episode Back from Vacation , is shown to be a fairly large issue. Michael Scott spreads around a picture of Jan Levinson, the vice president of sales and his unofficial girlfriend, from their vacation in Jamaica in which she is nearly naked. He does this without her approval, and it s spread to everybody in both the office and to the warehouse, and eventually makes its way into the higher management ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Union University Art Gallery Analysis Union University Art Gallery plays host to several different artists galleries throughout the year, for free and open to the public. Currently on display is Hodgepodge , a collection of about ten canvases by Brian Bundren. While Bundren has been painting and displaying his artwork for quite some time (his first gallery was in the mid 1990s!), Hodgepodge contains paintings only from 2013 2016. All of the artwork shows great precision and attention to detail. The colors are vibrant and rich. That is not to say the colors were bright or cheerful (only one painting was particularly bright ), but the colors were all pure and distinct. Most of the paintings, in my opinion, would fit under the umbrella of surrealism. Walking into the gallery immediately starts to produce feelings of unease and perhaps feelings of being threatened. The individual objects in the paintings are very realistic but mashed together in unnatural ways. Only one painting, J.V. s Thunderbird , felt calm ; it did not cause me to personally feel discomfort, even though it was not peaceful. It was a large canvas displaying an underwater scene in bright blue. A Thunderbird was half visible along the bottom edge of the canvas. A deep sea diver was present, ... At first glance, it appears to be the muzzle of a dog, but careful inspection of the shape of the nostrils, mandible, and placement of what appears to be the eyes, it looks more to be a baboon, one of the great ape family. Pink peonies (there are two in full bloom and one bud) commonly represents love and honor, while white peonies (there is one at the bottom) represents shyness or bashfulness. • 7. Comparing Pandora s Box And The Flying Dutchman Stories Explained Introduction Myths, fairy tales, folk tales, legends and fables we all grew up hearing various wonderfully descriptive stories from each of the above listed categories. We might not have known that there are different categories for the stories we heard, maybe you thought, just like me, that a story was just a story: something to entertain and captivate you on a rainy day or a trigger to ensure vastly creative dreams as it is read moments before you fall asleep. Each of the stories that you have heard belongs to a specific category. Myths and legends are both based on historical events, but neither of them is true since the events went undocumented and no proof was found to substantiate the claims. In a myth the story ... Zeus lied to Pandora when he told her that she may not open it the box, this later piqued her curiosity about the box. But even though these stories were completely different, it was still possible to find similarities between them. The differences between them are what make them special and wonderfully unique. Stories are such a valuable instrument to teach children important life lessons and morals. It is a way to connect with them at their level so that they can process and understand what you are trying to say. Even if they only subconsciously catch the underlining lesson you weaved into the story, it is still there and the child will always use that story as reference. Traveling has many effects overall The point is the sky is the limit; traveling gives personal insight into the world beyond the bedroom window; it gives us a license to become a citizen of the world. First, traveling is the world s piggy bank. In the year 2015 a total of 650.8 billion dollars was spent by domestic and international travelers on leisure ( U.S. Travel Answer Sheet ). For example, the money spent on those amazing adventures available. Like scuba diving, parasailing, and even trying new foods. A burger for example will cost more in a different location then it might at home. The cost of living plays into how much should be saved, depending on the destination. Likewise, the economy worldwide profits from all the traveling that goes on. The tax revenue for 2015 was 147.9 billion dollars ( U.S. Travel Answer Sheet ). Thus proving traveling is encouraged and a great way to spend without feeling guilty. Furthermore, it helps build jobs! 15.1 million to be exact in the year 2015 ( U.S. Travel Answer Sheet ). How wonderful it is to be helping the world especially those third world countries. Tourism is encouraged and it is providing profit for the world instead of just one country. A healthy relationship doesn t mean that it is always sunshine and rainbows. It is built upon the fact that two people are ready to work through the low times and cherish the good times. • 10. How Isolation Affects The Behavior Of Different Animals Different species occur when the genes in the animal mutate overtime. This changes the appearance and the behaviour of the now slightly different animal. Eventually these traits will make them change and evolve to their environment. This can happen when separation isolates them this also prevents the different animals interbreeding. Eventually this isolates the two different species that were once one. Isolation and separation can occur by geographical barriers such as oceans, rivers, mountain ranges or climatic barriers like rainfall, temperature, sunlight, ocean currents. For example birds must have all come from one set of the same breed. This means that budgerigars are related to eagles. They are only different because of the environment and the amount of accessible food and water. For instance the eagles are bigger than the budgies because eagles don t fly in flocks to make them self look big however budgies do need to, to protect themselves. • 11. A Brief Synopsis Of The Emerging Ethanol Fuel Industry A brief synopsis of the Emerging Ethanol Fuel Industry Ethyl alcohol or grain alcohol, commonly known as Ethanol (commonly seen as E 85 at the gas pumps) has a long history in the United States. Henry Ford considered it the fuel of choice. [1] In fact, his very first automobile, built in 1896, ran solely on ethanol. He said, There is enough alcohol in one year s yield of an acre of potatoes to drive the machinery necessary to cultivate the fields for a hundred years. But it s use in that capacity on a commercial scale was never realized due to the abundant resources and soon to arrive efficient production processes of petroleum products. However, with the highly volatile petroleum markets, mounting environmental concerns and the increase of gasoline fuel prices it is being reconsidered. To where in 2013, ethanol use had displaced as much as 462 million barrels of imported oil, reducing the dependence on foreign oil by 6 percent. [2] From an Economical View In the last 10 years alone gasoline fuel prices have doubled, from just over $1.59 a gallon in 2004 to $2.59 a gallon, as of December 2014. But the unstable fluctuations in the market, along with the nation trying to unshackle itself from the dependence of foreign petroleum, along with the added fear that the world has reached or is on the verge of reaching peak oil has spurred renewed interest within the alternative fuel industry as a whole, with the primary focus focused on ethanol. • 12. Sources Of Diversity In Films When doing research for my topic, Diversity in Films, I came across many sources. The first source that I found was a scholarly journal named, Teaching Sociology. The journal, that was written by Mari Dagaz and Brent Harger, had a short segment about diversity in films. One of the main points that stood out was one about how women and minorities are portrayed in films. It stated that women and minorities in film are usually underrepresented and based on traditional stereotypes. This point is what I believe is one of the strengths of this source. This is because that short segment allowed me to think about my topic more and opened my eyes to what I really needed to look for. Although, the fact that it did not specify a certain minority nor give examples would be a weakness of the source. The fact that the journal did not give good examples of the lack of diversity in films, would be considered the sources weak trait. If the journal would have given an example of a stereotype that is used or an example of how women and minorities are portrayed, it would have made the journal a lot stronger. But, since it did not, it caused me to have to look to other sources that would give me some kind of example. • 13. The New Curriculum For The Foundation Stage In 2008 the new curriculum for the foundation stage in wales began its roll out. Its aim was to bring consistency and continuity to children s education, thus transforming early year s education in Wales. The principles on which the curriculum is based are that children should be provided with a good basis for future learning and the ability to apply their learning to everyday situations. Leighton Andrews, the former education minister, said in an article on the Welsh Government website that the curriculum was designed to allow all children to flourish whatever their stage of development or learning ability (Andrews, 2010). The Framework for Children s Learning for 3 to 7 Year olds in Wales (here forth known as The Framework ) outlines 7 key areas of learning. These are Personal and social development, well being and cultural diversity , Language, literacy and communication skills , Mathematical development , Welsh language development , Knowledge and understanding of the world , Physical development and Creative development . The curriculum focuses on holistic learning, meaning that whilst there are 7 separate areas of learning, they are to be taught in a way which entwines them together allowing for children to develop skills such as everyday problem solving by understanding that mathematics is not merely a school subject but a skill which is used in everyday life. • 14. The Transition From Junior Secondary School The transition from Junior Secondary School to Senior School is one of the most significant and complex processes young people experience. They not only encounter the social and intellectual changes of this period of development, but are also faced with a myriad of factors which influence their lives after school completion, including making decisions regarding their future goals and aspirations (Kohler Field, 2003; Tillecczek et al, 2010). One of the major issues that young people experience is a lack of understanding of what it is they want to do in the future and the learning pathways available for future success (Tilleczek et al 2010; Wyn, 2009). As Sally s results indicate that she is not academically inclined, she does not want to pursue tertiary education, however does not know what other options are available to her. Along with her school studies, Sally works part time at the local supermarket however working full time in this role is not an option as she has little interest in packing and cleaning shelves. In order to assist Sally s transition from Year 10 into the senior phase of learning (Year 11 and 12), the Senior Education and Training Plan (SET Plan) needs to be created. This was a culmination of my desire to understand the connections between societal issues and life sciences, and to strengthen my problem solving skills in this regard. In the short time that I have been at the program, I had the chance to understand more about what a career in clinical trials would entail, and to develop the focus of my research thesis at an advanced level. My exposure to clinical research has also confirmed my passion for the field, as there are days where I work all through the night and into the early hours of the morning, sustained by sheer passion. In consideration of these factors namely my skills, my academic interests and natural proclivities, I have been inspired to transfer from the Masters to the PhD program. Ultimately, I intend to develop my skills up to the doctoral level. It therefore makes sense to take on an opportunity to achieve this goal sooner rather than later. While the Masters program has given me the opportunity to develop my thesis research aims and interests, the PhD program will afford me the knowledge and hands on experience to effectively and responsibly execute on my research interests. Dramaturgical Metaphor Erving Goffman Erving Goffman s above statement, referencing actors and public image, is a clear allusion to his dramaturgical metaphor, which is one branch of his work on symbolic interactionism. His dramaturgical metaphor delves into the premise that we are all actors who perform to others as our audience (Goffman, 1990). It is this metaphor which will be evaluated and analysed for its sociological significance, as well as the practical implications of the statement above, and what it means to be sociologically significant. Many other sociologists have also tackled the depths of Symbolic Interactionism, or the themes explored by the dramaturgical metaphor, of the likes of, Mead and Blumer. Their insights and contributions will be discussed concerning Goffman s statement. However, it is Goffman s dramaturgical metaphor which will be of the most help in evaluating the statement given and its sociological significance. Although, as relayed above, other sociologists work, such as Meads idea of the self being split into the I and the Me, and their individual functions will be important in helping us further evaluate the statement, and its sociological significance (Pampel, 2007). Autonomous individuals act intentionally, with understanding, and without controlling influences. Respect for autonomy is one of the fundamental guidelines of clinical ethics. For the majority of their lives patients seek treatment from a family physician that has a general knowledge of their health status, behaviors, and family background. However, once patients reach the age where multiple ailments require the consultation of several specialists, care can become fragmented. The primary physician, who presumably knows the patient best, begins to play a smaller role in deciding treatments and consulting the patient s family on advance directives. This fragmentation and discontinuity of care is pervasive once the patient reaches the end of life, and thus helps explain why treatment decisions at the end of life often differ from the wishes of the family and even the patient. The relationship between a physician and his or her patient is inherently driven by outcomes. By default, a physician is trained to cure or mitigate the effects of the patient s illness until natural death. However, the instinctive behavior of physicians at the end of life can result in more harm by encouraging advanced treatments that reduce the quality of life in a patient s remaining days. Evidence has demonstrated that this leads to greater dissatisfaction among patients and their families, and it results in unnecessarily high instances of death in hospital ... However, the main victims to get so deeply absorbed in this kind of world are children (as young as 7 years old). It is easy for young minds to become addicted to something they are possibly not yet ready for; especially screens and consoles. Video games are not good for kids since it isolates them from real life, could encourage violent behaviors and ideas, and chips away at their social skills. Children could spend the whole day sitting in one place and be perfectly happy with a device. A major con is that the majority of them become unaware of their surroundings because the children might be too hypnotized by what is being held in their hands. Most children are quite easy to entertain, but entertainment should not be provided by video games. When he or she becomes addicted to video games and accustomed to a style of this kind of entertainment, they probably would favor staying in one place on their electronics instead of experiencing real life. Childhood is when kids are slowly learning the differences between reality and fantasy. If a child is not mature enough, and if he or she is exposed to video games at that age, then it might be difficult for them to differentiate fantasy from reality. Fantasy is usually fun, so a child might rather believe that what they see in a video game will happen in real life.
