Importance Of Design For Mobile
Designing For Mobile: Consider It s Mobility First
Body
The rise in numerous wearable devices such as smartwatches, sensors has led to 360° transformations
of the entire landscape of designing. All the devices under Internet Of Things (IoT) umbrella are
bringing a new complexity to our field. And as a result, one finds it difficult to tell where mobile or an
app really starts and ends. Therefore, the requirement of excellent designers is much seen these days.
Now being a web designer, it is very important to get acquainted with the situation in order to
maintain the level of fluidity in different kinds of devices, sensors, and network connections. And
mobility rather than mobile defines much better kind of environment.
The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A truly responsive interface is actively listening to an unpredictable environment. And by knowing the
context of the reader, it becomes pretty easy to create a better design. In fact, many companies
offering Responsive Web Design services tend to gain ideas about the design after interacting with the
end user. By doing this they can offer a user friendly interface like never before.
Overall, embracing mobility has much to do with the end users environment and is meant to serve
them better by establishing a richer, smarter communication.
The reduction in the presence of screens
Although, screens are getting smaller and more capable but the notion of a screen itself is being put
into question by new technology. At one end, visual interfaces are no longer tied to glowing glass
rectangles while from the other side, the availability of auditive and haptic feedback gives us more
options to communicate with end users and reinforce a message.
For example, smartwatches aim to reduce the amount of time we stare at screens just to consume the
bits of information. Hence, in most of the cases, this is done through notifications.
Design notification first
There are three key things about notifications:
They are simple and brief
Their ability to design is quite limited
They actively interrupt the user rather than waiting for them to request something
The true value of most apps resides in the content that is provided within

In words of Barrack Obama, The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep.
Obama provides a simple yet strong illustration of the hardships and obstacles faced when
Striving for change. The statement made by Obama holds the same meaning when trying to
Change communities that are like Irvington. Both Martin Luther King and Barrack Obama have a
Superb comprehension of the extreme and diverse difficulties faced in African American
Communities. For instance King stated, One hundred year later, the negro is still languishing in the
corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. This quote shines an
Illuminating light on the problems seen in Irvington, because we have allowed other
Communities to surpass us. While we quarrel and argue amongst each other, we do not see that we are
lagging behind the rest of New Jersey and The United States. This township is in critical condition,
because the sense of unity, dreams, and change has been lost. To revive our fair township of Irvington
we must recover from the phlegmatic state which we are so accustomed to and take action, or like a
house with a weak foundation the town will soon crumble to the ground. To begin improving the
living standards of Irvington the community, we must come together, scrutinize the community, and
solve our basic problems. Then, this township can advance. In the words

Located at the base of the Wasatch Mountains is the wonderful city of Sandy. Sandy City is one of the
more populous areas of Salt Lake City and the 5th largest city in Utah. It is a large, mostly suburban
area with a population of about 94,000 people. It extends from I 215 to the north, E 12300 to the
south, W 10600 S to the west, and Little Cottonwood Canyon Road to the east. Sandy has 4 quadrants:
Alta Canyon, Bell Cayon, Crescent, and Sandy. I live in the Sandy quadrant, which is the 2nd largest

many records of floods in the past and some very minor earthquakes. There are still dangers of floods
and earthquakes, and many people live on the fault line, where it is expected to have a huge
earthquake in about 50 years. This large earthquake could destroy many homes and neighborhoods
and will cost the city a substantial amount of money to repair all of the damages.
Growth over time and space Population has increased a lot in Sandy. There were a few people in the
1900s, when the city was still developing. But ever since, the population has boomed. Sandy
experienced its biggest growth in 1970 1980, when the population increased 711%[5].

Here is a projection for future population trends in Sandy. It is expected that population growth will
expand steadily. By 2060, the population in Sandy would increase to over 145,000.

The population of Sandy is growing because Sandy is a physically attractive place. Many families are
coming to Sandy because it is a safe place to raise their children. There is a lot of economic

Comparing Kreider s Essay A Man And His Cat
In the essay, A Man and His Cat, written by Tim Kreider shows his love for the cat whom he shared
his life for 19 years. He describes how a single and alone person s devotion for his cat. Also how that
nonhuman creature can fill up his home with love and his life with a feel of purpose. Kreider describes
his cat as a jealous type; she is always seeking for attention. While Kreider does his work the cat tries
to grab his attention by sitting on whatever he was reading or walking back and forth in front of him.
Tim Kreider never posted pictures of his cat online or told stories about her. But one thing that he did
do was, made up dozens of nonsensical names for the cat over the years (Kreider 152). Later, he goes
into describing how he found

Analysis Of The Movie Old News By Deborah Miranda Essay
Erasure. Imagine having almost every detail of your life your beliefs, your family, your culture, and
success erased by those only focused on their own personal gain. That is what happened to Native
Americans over the course of American history. Due to the settler colonialism that laid the foundation
of our nation, many Native Americans became the victims of horrific abuse and discrimination. As
whiteness became the ideal in society, Native Americans lost their voices and the ability to stand up
for themselves. Through her memoir, Bad Indians, Deborah Miranda reveals the truth of the horrific
pasts of California Native Americans, and gives her ancestors stories a chance to finally be heard. In
the section Old News , Deborah Miranda writes poems from the white man s perspective to show the
violent racism committed against Native Americans, as well as the indifference of whites to this
violence.
The title for this selection of poems, Old News , reflects the theme of racism in this section of Miranda
s memoir. This title is ironic because the problems in these newspaper clips show new acts of
discrimination against Native Americans. However, the violence depicted in these poems has been
recurring for hundreds of years. Since the founding of the American colonies in the 1600s, Native
Americans have had their land, families, and sense of safety stolen from them. These European settlers
did not understand the culture and behaviors of Native Americans, and, as a

J. Alfred Prufrock Research Paper
During the time period of modernism, society saw a massive shift, especially from the everyday life of
people in the cities. With improvements being made in transportation and technology this shifted the
way of life to a much faster pace, shrinking the distances between people around the world thus
creating a more rapid pace of life. The emphasis on radical innovations left many people will feelings
of despair, a sense of meaninglessness, and hopelessness. With the ever growing developments to
society, a lack of traditional and cultural norms and beliefs in closely held faiths were strained. These
concepts were much illustrated in the literature of the time. Literary figures such as T.S Eliot
flawlessly depicted the perception of the troubles of the modern man in his poem The Lovesong of J.
Alfred Prufrock, while also integrating the new way of looking and appreciating life will all the good
and bad components, ideas brought forth by the forerunners of modernism. ... Show more content on

though he tries to make progress, his irrational fear of failure inhibits him from taking any actions.
Elliot presents Prufrock as the typical modern, urban man. He is an overeducated, sensitive, and
articulate man who muses over missed opportunities about the opposite sex. I have measured my out

Treatment Of Women In Hamlet
Hamlet has a wide variety of topics ranging from the role of women during the last sixteenth century,
sexuality and incest, religion, the mystery of life and death and suicide as an escape from problems
among others but the most important and the only that could completely be seen in the work is
Treason in Elsinore Castle in Denmark . High treason is easily observable from any point of view. It is
easy to recognize how King Hamlet and his son Prince Hamlet are betrayed at the same time by their
own family and an entire people is also betrayed with all the murky movements that are made so that a
new king who is an assassin and a corrupt politician could assume the throne. I chose the theme of

Elizabeth I was illegitimate daughter of King Henry VIII and her lover Ann Bolen. Elizabeth had as
her predecessors to her sister Mary I and then her brother in law Philip II who was king of Spain.
Mary I was closely related to the Catholic Church and she strongly defended her catholic principles.
She carried out a massacre against Protestants and for that reason she is known as Bloody Mary .
When Elizabeth assumed the throne she recognized herself as Protestant. Elizabeth wanted to restore
the peace for her people because her sister had already generated many deaths. This all generated a
climate of instability in the Catholic Church since they believed it pertinent that a catholic king or
queen should claim the throne. Many plans began to be made against the Protestant Queen. Catholic
Church did not recognize Elizabeth as queen because they believed that no illegitimate daughter
deserved the throne. Church wanted to name Mary I queen of Scots as queen of England because she
was the catholic and legitimate daughter of James V of Scotland and cousin of Elizabeth I. England
experienced an intense phase of economic, cultural and social development during Elizabeth´s reign.
The reign of Elizabeth sealed not only the appearance of England as a great power in the European
country but also it was characterized by a great cultural and civil

What Does It Stand For Dna Research Paper
What does DNA stand for?
Deoxyribonucleic acid
What is DNA?
DNA also known as deoxyribonucleic acid is a complex molecule that carries the genetic information
in the cell, essential to build and maintain an organism.
The shape of the molecule is described as a double helix . The building blocks of DNA are
nucleotides. A nucleotide consists of one phosphate molecule, a five sided sugar molecule
(deoxyribose sugar), and one nitrogen base.
WHERE IS IT FOUND?
DNA is located throughout the body, inside organisms called eukaryotes. Which is found inside a
special area of the cell called the nucleus. Organisms have DNA molecules, tightly wound and
packaged as a chromosome. DNA is not only located in the nucleus, humans also have a small amount
of DNA in cell structure in mitochondria. For each DNA molecule that forms into a chromosome can
be seen as a set of shorter DNA sequences. These are the units of DNA function called genes.

Strands of the DNA are composed of a sugar and phosphate, portions of the nucleotides while the
middle parts of the DNA are made up of nitrogenous bases. The hydrogen bonds between phosphates
cause the DNA strand to twist. The nitrogenous bases point inward on the ladder and form pairs with
bases on the other side, like rungs. The nitrogenous bases on the two strands of DNA pair up, purine
with pyrimidine (adenine with thymine and guanine with cytosine) and are held together by hydrogen
bonds. DNA has a spiral staircase like structure. The steps are formed by the nitrogen bases of the
nucleotides where adenine pairs with thymine and cytosine with

The Self Through Self Examination
Betterment of the self through self examination seems like a fundamental idea; however, what occurs
more often than not in today s social media driven climate is not examining oneself, but instead,
comparing oneself to others. Which do you think is more beneficial? It s much easier to make
assumptions about the other and compare yourself to your own idea of the other, rather than look
inward and try to see past the assumptions of yourself and find your inner truth. It s not easy to resist
the idea of rating yourself in comparison to others since it is in human nature to want to place yourself
within a system of cultural values in order to determine your position in a cultural matrix. This kind of
comparison is mentally taxing, socially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To shift the examination inward towards the self is the only way we could hope to understand our
placement in our nation s grand cultural matrix.
One of the most difficult things that we can do in a culture that is so surrounded by judgment is to not
accept these judgments placed on ourselves, as well as others, as finite. Values placed on yourself by
others reduces you to a statement, to words, to a sporadic thought that was devised in the mind of the
other. When we accept other s judgments as fact, we have devalued our own judgments which brings
up the interesting concept of being able to justly judge yourself. To define one s eyes is almost
impossible since we see differently day to day. It is difficult to do yourself justice with a heavy and
sure gavle that judges harshly. When we leave the self inappropriable and admit that we can t know
ourselves, let alone the other, entirely, we may not feel satisfied; however, it s imperative to admit our
lack of understanding of ourselves, so we can continue to define ourselves. When we accept the
judgment of others as fact we are in turn being lethargic by not interrogating our ever changing selves.
It is true the inability to define oneself fully is a miracle; it is true that knowing yourself fully would
leave no room for further discovery, but is it a gift never to know oneself fully? That is one question
that we will never know the answer to. To properly interrogate yourself is to learn how to appreciate
yourself

Summary Of Barbie-Q By Sandra Cisneros
The story Barbie Q was written by Sandra Cisneros who grew up with a strong male influence in her
family, being the only female in a family of six male kids. She began writing at a young age and
became an accredited author in 1978 with a Masters degree in Fine Arts at an Iowa Writers Workshop
(Cisneros 339). The story Barbie Q is is a work with a strong emphasis on underprivileged females
being overruled by society. Cisneros point of the story is to identify that the pressures of females to be
in pristine condition and anything less is considered invaluable or worthless.
The work of Cisneros exposes the societal pressures of females in everyday life and the inequitable
treatment of those that have a better wealth situation than others. The story starts off with two young
girls discussing the dolls they see in the store but knowing not to ask for one. The reason the girls
know to not ask for one is because their family can t afford a brand new doll. Specifically one of the
girls says, We have to make do with the barbies they have now (Cisneros 339). Due to the money
issues, the girls feel like they have fewer opportunities in the cultural time period. When they finally
can t afford the dolls they arrive at a farmers market where they see a set of dolls for cheap. The dolls
were discovered to be damaged physically with a burning down of a warehouse where they were
stored. This connects to the constant maltreatment of females in the society in that the ones that are

Coping And Coping Strategies
Coping strategies are specific psychological and behavioral aspects people use to deal with, master,
reduce, minimize, or tolerate the occurrence of a stressful event. One coping strategy is problem
solving, it is an ongoing process in which we take what we know to help us unveil what we don t
know. This method includes overcoming obstacles by developing a hypothesis, testing its prediction,
and coming to a reasonable solution. There are three simple roles that involve problem solving which
consist of making decisions, generating new knowledge, and seeking information. According to
teachervision, problem solving is, and should be, a very real part of the curriculum. It presupposes that

Women feel more obligated than men to control their emotions, coping is something we all do either
directly or indirectly without even noticing it.
One main reason coping skills are important to people with disabilities because, people with
disabilities are more likely to be bullied than their nondisabled peers. Studies show that students with
disabilities had a two to three ratio of being bullied Students with disabilities are already struggling
academically in the school environment. When bullied it directly has a major effect on the academic
performance. Students with disabilities who do not know how to properly cope with their stressful
environment can end up dropping out, avoiding school and having absences, decrease grades, inability
to focus, and a loss of interest in academic achievement. As we all know bullying can be censored but
it can t be stopped, if and individual can accept who he/she is as a person and cope with their
environment in a positive way it may help them live a normal life.
Moreover, living with a disability can be very difficult especially to those who have acquired a
disability. Disabilities may Impact individuals differently but often those who have grown up with a

World War I was a devastating war that was mainly Britain, Russia, France, and the US against
Austria Hungary, Germany, and the Ottoman Empire. Throughout the entire war, many different
strategies and tactics were used by the /parties. Some were genius and some were absolute failures.
There were a multitude of goals different powers wanted, and each one took unique approaches to
achieve said goals. One of the first plans of WWI was developed almost a decade before the war
actually took place. The Schlieffen Plan, which Alfred von Schlieffen, Chief of the Imperial German

Danilov argued that on the outbreak of war in Europe the German Army would concentrate its forces
against France. Danilov therefore suggested that four of its armies should immediately invade East
Prussia. In 1912 it was decided to heavily alter Plan 19. Only two armies were now to attack East
Prussia with the rest concentrating on defending Russia from the Austro Hungarian Army. Now the
way soldiers attacked in WWI is interesting. Military actions designed to take control of enemy
trenches were called attacks or offensives. The difference between attacks and offensives are an attack
usually involved a division (16,000 men) while an offensive was bigger and would use at least one
corps. The main objective of an attack was to break the enemy line, but an offensive was an attempt to
occupy any positions that were taken during the operation. This meant that consistent fighting raised
serious problems of running out of supplies. Before attacks and offensives took place, heavy artillery
was used to soften up the enemy trenches. At the offensive at the Somme in the summer of 1916
General Douglas Haig ordered an eight day preliminary bombardment before sending 750,000 men

Don t Criticize What You Can t Understand

Bob Dylan Don t criticize what you can t understand, said Bob Dylan, one of the most influential
figures in folk music and music culture. As a protest singer growing up in a racially tense time
affected by the Vietnam War, he was heavily influenced by his background and the social issues of his
time. He rose to prominence from Blowin in the Wind (which became an enduring anthem) and many
other songs that influenced the young generation of the 1960s. Bob Dylan s interest for music started
from a young age. Born on May 24, 1941 as Robert Allen Zimmerman, he started writing poems at
age ten (Jarnow). By the time he was a teenager, he had taught himself to play the guitar, the piano,
and the harmonica, and participated in bands in high school. After that, he enrolled at the University of
Minnesota, dropping out when he became more involved in the music scene than his schoolwork. He
moved to New York City, where he went to Greenwich Village and met Woody Guthrie, one of his
music idols. He performed as Bob Dylan in nightclubs and coffee houses, gaining respect and
recognition from his peers. He released his self titled album, Bob Dylan, in 1962, followed by The
Freewheelin Bob Dylan in 1963. His second album contained protest songs such as Blowin in the

Patrick Slush Descriptive Writing
There is nothing more terribly beautiful than the snow stricken streets of New York City. Beneath a
greying evening sky, and between tall buildings of steel, are big flakes of swirling snow that drift and
lightly cover every street lamp, branch, shoulder and patch of pavement untouched by moving feet.
Patrick Sole, a man without a home, is slumped, in wet, grey slush, against a brick wall. He does not
twitch, he does not tremble. And if white begins to blanket his tattered coat, and if his frostnipped
fingers begin to numb; well, he does not stir. For how long he has sat there, he does not know, for he
looks and feels as white as a ghost.
With an icy puff of breath, Patrick blinks slowly and blankly observes the blur of faces before him. As
the evening sky blackens, the bustle of the street grows noisier and is lit vividly by street lamps, lights,
cars and electronic billboards. It is at that moment Patrick wonders: how can one be so lonely in a city
with over nineteen million souls?

The Role Of Racism In American History X
The film American X is entirely based on racism and how community is been incited by it all. The
most distressing thing in this film is how the racism is been portrayed. First of all it is true that,
generally racism is a subject which is always hard to deal with, however, American History X shows it
despite being blunt about the subject without any hesitation. In addition, from the movie it presents
how Dereck Vinyard as a racist, who is played by Edward, is falsely portrayed the film. However, he
is speaks in a well mannered and in a smart way, though he does clearly holds beliefs that are terribly
not right. Lastly, we can see that the film do not only shows the white, neo nazi racist who were

Although other cinematic movie use the same affect, in America History X the black and White
sequences are used with more shadowing giving audience an indistinctive edge, and dream like
feeling.
Another one of the cinematography is use of slow motion. The use of slow motion helps support the
purpose of the film and to form a visual mood. For example when they show Danny in the bathroom
and the young black student shoots. This slow motion affect gives the viewers a feeling of greater
hatred towards the black student who shot Dereck, gave viewers enough time to identify the person
who killed him and see the emotions that he expresses and the hatred that him and Danny have the
moment before he shot the gun. This affect also affects the audience in their feelings towards hi and
then hatred towards him.
The American History X sound is acknowledged Dudley s finest film music for this time. Director
Tony Kaye requested a sorrowful score of vast orchestral scope. The storytelling in American History
X is a very powerful film, which makes its storyline film very realistic. At rimes, some of its content
makes it difficult to watch/follow. However, it is also, what gives the viewer the sense of

Uranium 235 Neutrons
Uranium 235 (U235) on itself is stable, however if an atom is hit with a neutron, it will absorb that
neutron turning into Uranium 236 (U236), and therefore becomes unstable. It then spontaneously
splits into 2 atoms, krypton 92 and barium 141 molecule. A new nuclei forms when an unstable
nucleus decays creating fission products. Essentially, the fewer neutrons there are loose, the fewer
fissions will occur. It is noticed that both the atoms do no equal up to 236, because in fact, 3 neutrons
are dispersed and then further colliding with other Uranium 235 molecules. To further discuss the
process of Uranium fission, it can be referred to what is called the Chain Reaction. In the chain

Civil Litigation Procedures And Criminal Litigation
The differences between civil litigation procedures and criminal litigation procedures vary
significantly from beginning to end; they vary in the initial pretrial proceedings, the actual trail
proceedings, and the post trial proceedings or sentencing.
Pretrial
Pretrial is where the differences between civil cases and criminal cases are most apparent. In the initial
preparatory stage for a civil case, a party is usually seeking monetary reimbursements or equitable
relief for alleged wrong done by another person or party. The proceedings in a civil case begin with
the injured party, the plaintiff, seeking out an attorney. If an attorney accepts the case the client and
law firm first draw up a retainer agreement, second begin gathering information and facts to help aid
their case, and third begin a correspondence with the defendant called demand letters in which they
formally inform the defendant of the charges. If the defendant refuses to offer the requested
reimbursement for damages, or, if the plaintiff is unhappy with the defendant s proposals, the two
parties prepare for trial. At this point in the proceedings jurisdiction and venue are decided. A pretrial
discovery period ensues where more facts are gathered, and written and oral depositions are gathered.
To shorten the actual trial, both attorneys meet privately in presence of a judge in a pretrial conference

Analysis Of Michael Sandel s Justice
Joshua J. Castro
Professor Iyer

Episode 05
An Analysis of Michael Sandel s Justice Can the value of human life be determined by dollars and
cents? Is one life more valuable than another, or can one be tossed aside like the leftover change
someone receives after buying a hamburger from McDonald s? Placing a monetary value on someone
s life is nearly impossible to do, as can be seen in Episode 05 of Michael Sandel s Justice series.
Episode 05 is split into two parts, both involving how to determine if a price can be placed on the life
of a fellow human being. Part one discusses whether or not it is acceptable to pay someone else to take
one s place during military conscription, while part two focuses on whether or not paying for a
surrogate mother or father is in fact a monetary transaction of human life. The transaction of human
life seems to be morally wrong, but at the same time can be justified. Are human lives simply a figure
that can be determined by someone who is paid to see how much someone is worth, or how much
someone will be worth? Although the life of someone can be objectively valued, a human life should
not be monetarily valued for any reason. The first part of this lecture discussed whether or not
someone s draft rights can be sold to another willing to accept payment for their substitution of
service. Sandel states the fact that steel titan, Andrew Carnegie, sold his draft rights to another citizen
to take his place

The First Example Of The French Baroque Style In Paris
The façade, which was finished following the completion of the other parts of the church, is
considered the first example of the French baroque style in Paris. The existing church was built on a
site, which once housed two other churches, between 1494 and 1657. The design was by Salomon de
Brosse, whose also designed the Luxembourg Palace. Baroque architecture is considered to be highly
decorated with curvaceous forms, a sense of mass and in a large scale. However, the French Baroque
style implemented many classical orders and decoration. Classical architecture generally signifies
architecture which is more or less deliberately derived from the ideologies of Greek and Roman
architecture of classical antiquity. the facade introduced a completely new classical style, whereas the
nave of the church was late or flamboyant gothic. Which is why this church is credited as starting the
French Baroque style.
The facade is situated up fourteen steps and features the three classical orders of architecture one atop
the other. The ground floor features three bays with pairs of fluted columns with capitals of the
simplest Doric order, with a classical pediment. The Doric capital is adorned with the echinus and the
abacus. The Doric entablature is simple, the architrave is the lowest portion, and is divided into the
guttae and the taenia, from bottom to top. The frieze features triglyphs, two vertical grooves in the
center and half grooves at the edges, separated by metopes, which

The Real Estate And Property Investment
The Real Estate Phenomenon
Although critics may argue it is too difficult for anyone new to become a successful real estate
investor the truth is that anyone with the right mentor, enough capital, a strong will, determination,
and just a touch of luck can become a millionaire through property investment. To be successful in
real estate knowledge about the mechanisms, operations, and just a few secrets are a necessity in order
to have the ability to decipher an exceptional deal from a not so favorable one. The United States as
well as the rest of the world has shown more people seizing the status of millionaire through real
estate than through any other means in fact, according to Jonathan Yates up to 90% of Millionaires
have made their fortunes in real estate. The purpose of this paper is to convince whomever it concerns
why property investment is such a marvelous enterprise, save you money in personal property
investment, and how to begin your own real estate venture.
One of the greatest parts about real estate is there is no definitive approach to achievement and there is
an infinite number of routes to success. (Bill Clementi) Similar to how every piece of property is one
of a kind, every triumphant real estate investor has followed their own unique path down the sinuous
road of property investment, however all have managed to reach the apex of wealth because they all
have the same end goal in mind, to earn profit. Real estate investors never need to limit

Romanesque Cathedral And Gothic Cathedrals
We re looking at the difference between Romanesque cathedrals and Gothic cathedrals. I know you all
are so excited to learn what a flying buttress is because I know I was. Spoiler alert, it is nothing like
what it sounds like. It s much more cool and innovative, which is what these two periods were all
about. Taking knowledge from the past and improving it. After Charlemagne s death in 814, a terrible
and dark period of cultural decline and terror ensued. It took a long time for the terror to end and the
conquerors of various parts of Charlemagne s empire to come together and create conditions for
peace. With that peace came the Romanesque architecture movement. Now it can be hard to

The clerestory had only small windows to let a decent amount of light in. The exteriors of the
cathedrals were plain, had very little decoration, and were extremely solid looking. Cathedral plans
were often regular and symmetrical, making the Romanesque cathedral form known for its simplicity.
They were often built in the general shape of a cross, relying on the basilica as a design base. As for
the sculptural decoration, Romanesque architects utilized thin, elongated, and abstract figures. Gothic
architecture began in the 12th century and continued well into the 16th century as an attempt to
reconcile Christian theology with Greek philosophy. Gothic architecture was deeply rooted in the
previous architectural genre, the Romanesque, but architects this time around no longer desired to
recapture the classical and antique . If we focus on the Gothic cathedral, we ll find that a Gothic
cathedral had a unified and unbroken space that included the apse, rather than separating them like the
Romanesque architects did. The main characteristics of Gothic style cathedrals included the groin
vault. Barrel vaults had become too difficult to make and too heavy to install and so the Gothic
architects decided to pull away from them and utilize groin vaults instead. The ribs in the groin vaults
were conveniently aligned to form a diamond pattern on the ceilings. Atop these vaults was the second
main characteristic of

The Negative Impacts Of The Industrialization Age
The Industrial revolution was a time in American history in which factories and manufacturing
business thrived. During the Industrialization period in the U.S the mass increase of immigration also
helped to build America into what it is today. The Industrial age not only was a positive effect on
American, but a negative effect towards the factory workers. Because of this the industrial revolution

also those who´ve observed the conditions in those industrialized cities during that time.

Thus, the concept of Shahrazad is liberation of oppressed women and continues to inspire the women

The first thing in the story about the relations of gender is that they are humane means. No trace of
physical violence against women, there does not have any unreasonable insistence purity, chastity, so

Designer Of Bottega Veneta, Designers And Clothing Companies
In the beginning, men s suits had rules: thy must be constricting and uncomfortable, and be a sturdy
black, navy blue, or gray. Comfortable clothes were restricted to weekends and only weekends. But in
the midst of a men s wear boom, the rules, and the suits, are loosening up. Men s wardrobe in general
has evolved immensely since designers and clothing companies first began creating solely men s wear
lines of clothing. Designers and clothing companies not only have men s lines, but they include more
than just suits: slacks, button downs, gold shirts, sports coats, polo shirts, and relaxed fit t shirts are
just some of the vast array of items now including in men s clothing lines. Men are no longer being
confined to the old stereotype of suits during the day, pajamas at night, and comfortable less formal
clothes on the weekends. And as a result of this paradigm shift, this more relaxed attitude is being
applied to suits themselves. As Tomas Maier, designer of Bottega Veneta, put it, There s a lot of men
out there who do not need those sartorial codes. They re not lawyers, they re not working on Wall
Street. In recent decades the men s suit has settled into a comfortable rut: stiff, dark, breaking just so
over the loafers, a dress code so uniform that it s often overlooked. This becalmed style ended with the
entrance of designer Thom Browne and tailor Rocco Ciccarelli. The duo disrupted men s wear with

Without the Belgians, the Congo became financially unstable and lost whatever instruction and
guidance the Belgians thought to give whether it be any degree of education, which was then thrust
onto the Africans to teach themselves, or political stability. While the political stability was not in the
Congo s favor, it was still more beneficial than the leader the Congo had after Lumumba. The loss of
stability led to the Congo being considered lesser than other countries and led to other countries, the
United States of America, for example, shunning the Congolese. The financial instability also led to
the Congo being unable to communicate effectively with other countries the sister countries of Africa
or the countries abroad because the people of the Congo (or Zaire, as it was called under Mobutu, the
outsider that took the place of Lumumba) could not afford to use what little finances they had for
anything apart from basic survival necessities. This was alienating in nature, but exile also proved to

produce ideas that would benefit the Congo. Lumumba s election also resulted in higher morale. When

However, a lesser known player named Moses Fleetwood Walker was a player in the Major Leagues

Immigration has gone through many different stages of change just as the nation of Canada had many
stages of change. Transformations of immigration during the post war period greatly impacted the
society and immigration patterns of today. These changes included the post war immigration boom, a
less segregating Immigration Act and the rise of multicultural and refugee immigration. Post war
immigration patterns have differed from previous waves of immigration due to their size and source of

However, the induction of the Point System coincided with restrictions from the Britain. This made
Canada more preferable to various immigrants. The ideals against discrimination of immigrants have
since been an integral part of immigration policy. The new vision for Immigration Act in 1976 led to
the increased opportunities for visible minorities and refugees. In the 1986 Census of Canada, a visible
minority is defined by Statistics Canada as people of the following origins: Blacks, Indo Pakistani,
Chinese, Korean, Japanese, South East Asian, Filipino, Other Pacific Islanders, West Asian and Arab,
and Latin American, excluding Argentinean and Chilean (justice.gc.ca). This new revision of the
Immigration Act dealt with many issues with the immigration process from previous revisions. This
Immigration Act defined 4 classes of immigrants (independent, family, sponsored family member and
refugees). The previous Act of 1952 had only focused on independent and dependent (sponsored)
immigrants. Even though this Act supported family reunification of Asian Canadians, it discriminated
and placed quotas on many ethnic groups. The Immigration Act of 1976 on the other hand, focused on
the right of immigrants to uniform and fair treatment from government officials and generosity to
refugees (). This allowed for more visible minorities and refugees to make Canada their new home.
For example, by 1978, the number of refugees and reunited families outnumber that of immigrants

International Trade and Role of Bank
International Trade
International trade is exchange of capital, goods, and services across international borders or
territories. In most countries, it represents a significant share of gross domestic product (GDP). While
international trade has been present throughout much of history, its economic, social, and political
importance has been on the rise in recent centuries.
Industrialization, advanced transportation, globalization, multinational corporations, and outsourcing

How Legislation Deals With Transfer Price
As mentioned briefly above, there aren t yet any unified standards to how legislation deals with
transfer price. Although there is a set of guidelines companies and countries follow, more work is
required to truly unify the regulation and to ensure companies don t take advantage of existing
loopholes.
Country specific rules
All countries tend to have certain country specific rules regarding transfer pricing. This is especially
true when it comes to the key global economies such as the US and China.
Country specific transfer pricing rules are especially important to know for companies that operate
around the world. You can find plenty more information from the country s tax or trade authority.
Here are some of the key points to note when it comes to the US and China. First, some of the main
points from the US transfer pricing rules include:
The US uses the principle of comparable profits method (CPM). Under the model the transfer price s
validity is tested by comparing the unit s overall results with another similar business, instead of
simply focusing on the transaction.
The US permits shared services agreements.
The US considers the conduct of the parties more important than the contractual terms if the case is
being reviewed.
The tax authorities cannot adjust prices that are found to be within the arm s length range in the US.
Key points for China:
China used the OECD guidelines until 2009,when it announced its own guidelines.

Examples Of Delusions In The Tell Tale Heart
Certain type of people have delusions. These could be a delusion of grandeur, a delusion of popularity,
or a delusion that something might be wrong with them. The reader may even have a few lying
beneath the surface; waiting to come out and play. These delusions are usually simple things that
hardly affect the way we perceive the world, and they are often written off as overthinking and simply

The character in The Tell Tale Heart is driven by their delusions to commit a heinous crime, and they

Delusions are the main motive to the characters murder of the old man, because he does not want to

Ancient Times In Ancient Egypt And The Mesopotamians
Ancient Times Essay
Over the years Egyptians had more experience than the Mesopotamians, because the Egyptians had
more ideas for making new things. In Ancient Egypt the Egyptians had built pyramid structures and in
Ancient Middle East the Mesopotamians had built ziggurat structure. The Egyptians and the
Mesopotamians mostly had things in common but they just look at things differently. The
Mesopotamians were the first to developed tools during that time, but over the years the Egyptians had
also developed tools but it was real science technology. Another thing is that when it came to women
rights in Ancient Middle all the womens were owned by their husbands, and in Ancient Egypt the
people worshiped womens and there was even a woman ruler. Even though Ancient Middle East and
Ancient Egypt share written language and both heavily relied on the Nile, Tigris, and Euphrates, rivers
the difference between Ancient Middle East and Ancient Egypt is that they both have an opposite view
on the afterlife.
In Ancient times written language has been a tool that they use to communicate with one another. The
designation hieroglyphics is a greek word; the Egyptians referred to their writing as medu netjer the
god s words , as they believed writing had been given to them by the great god Thoth (Mark). The
Egyptians believed that hieroglyphics was given to them as a special gift from there god. Another

Essay On The Untold Story Of Plymouth Plantation
The Untold Story of Plymouth Plantation The Puritan s voyage to the New World in 1620 is one of the
most well known pilgrimages throughout history. However, there are two different accounts of the
events to be discussed: one by William Bradford himself and another in the form of a documentary.
Bradford was one of the 102 people to voyage across the Atlantic in order to start the Plymouth colony
in Cape Cod. He would later become a very influential leader. His version of the events, entitled Of
Plymouth Plantation, is his first hand account of his voyage and the settlement of Plymouth. Bradford
wrote his chronicle in plain style, a type of writing that is simplistic and very straightforward. History
Channel s A Desperate Crossing: The Untold Story of the Mayflower, shows the events from an
outside point of view. Bradford s use of plain style in Of Plymouth Plantation, while historically ...

It gives the history of the local native tribes, which greatly impacted the Pilgrim s survival in the New
World. It also goes into detail on the people who died, mentioning those who Bradford chose to skip
over, such as the ship hand that was the first of them to die on the voyage over. Bradford says the
following of his death, But it pleased God before they came half seas over, to smite this young man
with a grievous disease, of which he died in a desperate manner, and so was himself the first that was
thrown overboard. (Bradford 6). Here, he is stating that God chose for him to die because he cursed at
passengers and was overall an unholy person who, in Bradford s mind, deserved to die. In modern
times, we know that all of the settlers who died met their ends from diseases and hypothermia during
the truly horrible winter from 1609 10 or, like the ship hand, died from disease. But aside from
mentioning scurvy and the harsh winter, Bradford cites only God as the source of the misery in

The Power Of The Prime Minister Has Too Much Power
Introduction One of the most powerful and influential members of the Canadian government is the
Prime Minster of Canada. It has been stated that the Prime Minister of Canada has far more power
within the Canadian system of government than the President of America has in the American System
(Caron, 2017). This excess power the Prime Minister has when compared to the President of American
shows the difference ranges of power top leaders can have in their specific country. However, is the
amount of power the Prime Minister has in Canada too much? To determine if the Prime Minister has
too much power there are a few things that need to be considered. The first is the responsibilities of
the Prime Minister and the power these responsibly give the position. Looking at how much power the
Prime Minister has in relation to the amount of responsibilities placed on that government role will
give insights into the necessities of that power. Next, reviewing the history of powers the Prime
Minister has over the years will show a timeline of a gradual increase in power. Finally, to determine
if the Prime Minister has too much power recent events must be discussed in which the Prime Minister
has abused their powers. To fully understand how the amount of power the Prime Minister has can
impact the government, there will be a focus on one specific example of who calls elections
throughout. Overall, in examining the responsibilities and powers of the Prime Minister in relation to

Technological Advancements Brought on by World War II Essay
One of the most recognized technologic advancements in plans during world war one and two waqs
the blitzberg plan. The World War Two era was a time of change. There were many technological
advancements during this time. These advances can be categorized into three categories. They are
weapon advances, vehicle advances, and strategic advances. This technology would change the face of
war forever. The first category, weapon advances, is a very important category. Leading up to the war,
weapons were changing constantly. Weapons of World War One were out of date. They were
becoming more accurate, and capable of longer ranges. In World War One, the average soldier carried
a bolt action rifle. Bolt action rifles are accurate; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second group of advances is vehicle advances. This category can be broken down into a few sub
categories. They are ground vehicles, ships, and aircraft. This category of technology was one of the
most important influences of the war. First, we will discuss ground vehicle advances. The Jeep was
invented in World War Two. It was used as basic transportation for troops. After the war, the Jeep
became more popular and was then used as a production vehicle for the public. Tanks of World War
One were very primitive and very ineffective. In World War Two, the tank was one of the most
important vehicles used. Leading up to World War Two, tanks were made more powerful, faster,
lighter, and stronger. Tank warfare was very important in World War Two. All countries involved in
the war were producing their own models of tanks. By the end of the war, the Allies had developed a
new kind of tank. It had no big guns on it. It was a troop transportation vehicle that was heavily
armored. Transportation vehicles were very important in the war. Without transportation, there is no
efficient way to move troops. All of these vehicles were very important in the history of war.
The next group of vehicles is the ships. Naval technology was very primitive prior to this time. The
radar was a breakthrough in navigation and enemy detection. However, the radar was new technology,
having been invented only a few years prior to the start of World

Stereotypes In The Film Juno
Juno is a 2007 film directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody. It stars Ellen Page as the
title character who unexpectedly becomes pregnant at age 16. Juno deals primarily with the subject of
teenage pregnancy and this storyline comprises the bulk of the plot. Juno reflects how society s gender
norms and attitudes have changed over time. In the past, it is likely that teenage pregnancy would be
portrayed negatively. However, Juno deals with her pregnancy in a cheerful and upbeat manner and
never loses her sharp tongue or quick wit and she receives support from her family. The issue of
casual sex is portrayed as being very normal since Juno and Paulie are not in a committed relationship.

Espn Executive Summary
Sales departments and their structures differ amongst different organizations. Considering that ESPN
is encompassed under the service industry, its dynamics are considerably more complex. With that, the
ESPN salesforce dimensions focus more on quality over quantity. Specifically, ESPN s reputability
proves the focus on a qualified salesforce. ESPN s qualified salesforce is best identified through their
sales department size, recruitment process, and individual qualities.
ESPN has many different departments, which handle four hundred affiliates. Amongst each affiliate,
there is an estimate of five to ten salespeople from ESPN that handle sales. Thus, there are
approximately four thousand salespeople under ESPN s sales department. Unlike its competitors like
CBS and/or Fox, ESPN s employee rate of turnover is considerably low at an estimated ten to twenty
percent annually. Their department is highly motivated, and offers various incentives. Thus, the
salesforce at ESPN are highly motivated and inclined to stay with the company for a prolonged period.

The preferred way of adding to the sales force is through industry referrals. Through such referrals,
ESPN can have access to experienced, reliable, and suitable candidates with relevant industry
experience. The selection of the interviewees is based on two selective criterion: First, the candidate
must have a college degree and/or related industry experience, which can be determined through
resume mining. Resume mining is a process that employers endure while selecting candidates through
the use of key words, which associate with their job qualifications. Next, the candidate must have
reliable and credible referrals on their applications. This measure ensures that ESPN has a trusted and
responsible candidate, which can be verified. If these two measures are fulfilled, the candidate

The Love Reform
Reform
The song Where is the Love? by the Black Eyed Peas focuses on the problems facing America, and
the world as a whole. The song is aimed towards people in society and how we are oblivious to what
is going on in the domain around us. The lyrics talk about the war in Iraq, racism, discrimination,
selfishness, murder, and terrorism. I think the main goal of the song is to bring forward these issues to
people in hope that it will strike a reform in the way society as a whole acts.
The song was released in 2003 in their third album, Elephunk. It was written after the 9/11 terrorist
attack and the war in Iraq. The song not only references to the terrorist attack upon the United States
of America but other terrorist groups as well. It states ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The song uses examples of real hate groups, real issues including racism, disrespect to others, and
basically having no love for the people of their country. Most of the population has probably come in
contact with one or more issues talked about it the song, making the song relatable and logical to
listeners. If Americans thought about it they would see that it was irrational to be over in Iraq forcing
other countries to change their ways, when America can t even feed and shelter all the homeless
people of the country not to mention all the other issues of our country. Everything that the song
entitles has truth to it, the lyrics If you only have love for your own race, then you only leave space to
discriminate, and to discriminate only generates hate... You re bound to get irate are true words and a
prime example of accuracy in the lyrics. I doubt anyone could argue these lyrics did not make a valid
point.
As I have shown, the song where is the Love by the Black Eyed Peas is a very persuasive song. The
use of ethos, logos, and pathos throughout the song help to convince listeners that something has to be
done. Reform is needed in America and they brought attention to this. America has real issues that
cannot and will not fix themselves it takes the community as a whole to stand up for what right and

Of the nearly nine million people incarcerated worldwide, the United States houses over two million
inmates in its federal, state, and local facilities. While the goal of the judicial system is to enforce the
law and protect the people, it comes at a price to taxpaying citizens at approximately thirty nine billion
dollars annually. The purpose of this research is to clearly define the required expenditures of the
prison system, identify anomalies in court sentencing at the federal, state and local levels, and pinpoint
cost savings to reduce the financial burden to tax paying citizens.
The United States has the highest rate of imprisonment in the world and it has a direct effect on its
taxpaying citizens at nearly 39 billion dollars annually. There are six major categories of incarceration:
sexual assault, murder, robbery, assault, burglary, and drugs and of the nearly 2.3 million people in
American jails, about approximately half, were jailed for drug related charges. According to the
Department of Justice, that number has only dipped below fifty percent once in the last decade back in
2011. (Sledge, 2013). The Smarter Sentencing Act is legislature aimed at reducing

A Case For A Partnership Agreement
10. Kathleen and Jim are business partners at a consulting firm. Upon Jim s sudden death, his widow
claims that she is entitled to a share of the firm s assets or should be able to take his Jims place as
Kathleen s partner. Is she entitled to her claims? Why or why not?
The outcome of this case depends on whether or not a partnership agreement was formed prior to the
partner s death. If the partnership agreement wasn t formed, general partnership State statues will take
default (Clarkson, 2015, p. 721). However, a partnership agreement will always override state laws. If
the provisions allow the partnership to continue after a partner s death, the wife will be entitled to her
husband s shares and if the provisions don t state otherwise she will also be able to take over his place
in the firm (Wright, 2016). If a partnership agreement does not exist, most states will require a
partnership to dissolve after a partner s death. The deceased partner s shares will be used to pay off
any debts or obligations and the remainder funds will be distributed to the surviving partners (Wright,
2016). If the deceased partner includes his wife in his will, then a portion of the funds will be
distributed to his wife after the dissolution. If his will is in probate, the funds will be distributed to his
estate (Wright, 2016). A major disadvantage of not having a partnership agreement, is the risk of the
spouse demanding her inheritance immediately (Wright, 2016). Since the partner s capital is

Death Of A Salesman Essay
Death of a Salesman written by Arthur Miller is a play is about the Lomans, an average middle class
dysfunctional family trying to live out the American Dream in the tough economic period of 1945 to
1950s. The lead character Willy Loman is a 63 year old traveling salesman who has lost his salary and
working only on commission. Exhausted from his work, he also is disturbed by the fact that his well
liked 34 year old son Biff, hasn t lived up to his potential of being a successful businessman. Willy has
trouble remembering things and at times unable to differentiate between the present and his memories.
He often day dreams about the good times, regrets, and mistakes of his past. Willy s hope in the
American Dream is lost when he realizes he s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The play displayed the social and economic problems occurring in the United States at that time.
Arthur Miller was born into a lower middle class family. His father owned a business of
manufacturing ladies wear that suffered a loss during the Great Depression. According to Sinclair s
article on Death of a Salesman the country came out of the depression when World War II started and
after the War there was an economic boom that increased inner city business and building of
apartment housings. The economic boom brought prosperity for the United States but mostly for the
rich as inflation increased. Typical normal Americans and low paid workers like salesman, shop
workers, unskilled workers, janitors and waiters experienced the bigger hit having a hard time
affording the basic necessities. For these people the American Dream of being successful and well off
became impossible as debt and purchases on credit increased. People were having a hard time trying
to make it with what they already had. Miller used his play to criticize the social and philosophical
failures of Capitalist society. During his writing process, Miller was conflicted with how to portray the
troubles of the character to an audience and didn t quite have the complete story. His encounter with
his uncle Manny Newman, who was a salesman and refused to accept failure and lack of confidence in
his household, inspired Miller to create the character of Willy and transform the incomplete story to

The Incident Of The Fort Hood Shooting
On November 5, 2009, the public gained knowledge about an incident that took place at an U.S. Army
installation. Maj. Nidal Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, fatally shot 13 people and injured more than 30
others. He was facing a deployment to one of the many war zones overseas (McFadden, 2009). There
are many reports about this incident and what actually took place. From what I ve gathered, Hasan
went into a processing center where soldiers go before and after they come back from deployment.
After Hasan s shooting rampage, he was finally stopped when Army Military Police (MP) officers
shot him a total of four times. He is now paralyzed from the waist down due to the shooting. The Fort
Hood shooting marked the worst shooting ever to take place on a military installation state side, to
record. There was almost no structural damage because he used hand guns instead of bombs, or what
we call weapons of mass destruction.
This attack is classified as a terrorist attack simply because of what the intention was at the beginning.
In my own words, terrorist(s) is someone or groups that have different beliefs and want to force their
belief onto you by any means necessary, which may include killing if one doesn t comply. The local,
state, and federal, as well as military, officers communicated well with each other and responded to
the shooting in record breaking time. All of the injured personnel were transported to four different
hospitals, to include the base hospital as well.

  • 2. Importance Of Design For Mobile Designing For Mobile: Consider It s Mobility First Body The rise in numerous wearable devices such as smartwatches, sensors has led to 360° transformations of the entire landscape of designing. All the devices under Internet Of Things (IoT) umbrella are bringing a new complexity to our field. And as a result, one finds it difficult to tell where mobile or an app really starts and ends. Therefore, the requirement of excellent designers is much seen these days. Now being a web designer, it is very important to get acquainted with the situation in order to maintain the level of fluidity in different kinds of devices, sensors, and network connections. And mobility rather than mobile defines much better kind of environment. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A truly responsive interface is actively listening to an unpredictable environment. And by knowing the context of the reader, it becomes pretty easy to create a better design. In fact, many companies offering Responsive Web Design services tend to gain ideas about the design after interacting with the end user. By doing this they can offer a user friendly interface like never before. Overall, embracing mobility has much to do with the end users environment and is meant to serve them better by establishing a richer, smarter communication. The reduction in the presence of screens Although, screens are getting smaller and more capable but the notion of a screen itself is being put into question by new technology. At one end, visual interfaces are no longer tied to glowing glass rectangles while from the other side, the availability of auditive and haptic feedback gives us more options to communicate with end users and reinforce a message. For example, smartwatches aim to reduce the amount of time we stare at screens just to consume the bits of information. Hence, in most of the cases, this is done through notifications. Design notification first There are three key things about notifications: They are simple and brief Their ability to design is quite limited They actively interrupt the user rather than waiting for them to request something The true value of most apps resides in the content that is provided within ... • 3. The Road Ahead Will Be Long Marvin powell Us history 6th 12/10/2014 Martin Luther king JR In words of Barrack Obama, The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. Obama provides a simple yet strong illustration of the hardships and obstacles faced when Striving for change. The statement made by Obama holds the same meaning when trying to Change communities that are like Irvington. Both Martin Luther King and Barrack Obama have a Superb comprehension of the extreme and diverse difficulties faced in African American Communities. For instance King stated, One hundred year later, the negro is still languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. This quote shines an Illuminating light on the problems seen in Irvington, because we have allowed other Communities to surpass us. While we quarrel and argue amongst each other, we do not see that we are lagging behind the rest of New Jersey and The United States. This township is in critical condition, because the sense of unity, dreams, and change has been lost. To revive our fair township of Irvington we must recover from the phlegmatic state which we are so accustomed to and take action, or like a house with a weak foundation the town will soon crumble to the ground. To begin improving the living standards of Irvington the community, we must come together, scrutinize the community, and solve our basic problems. Then, this township can advance. In the words ... Sandy City is one of the more populous areas of Salt Lake City and the 5th largest city in Utah. It is a large, mostly suburban area with a population of about 94,000 people. It extends from I 215 to the north, E 12300 to the south, W 10600 S to the west, and Little Cottonwood Canyon Road to the east. Sandy has 4 quadrants: Alta Canyon, Bell Cayon, Crescent, and Sandy. • 6. Analysis Of The Movie Old News By Deborah Miranda Essay Erasure. Imagine having almost every detail of your life your beliefs, your family, your culture, and success erased by those only focused on their own personal gain. That is what happened to Native Americans over the course of American history. Due to the settler colonialism that laid the foundation of our nation, many Native Americans became the victims of horrific abuse and discrimination. As whiteness became the ideal in society, Native Americans lost their voices and the ability to stand up for themselves. Through her memoir, Bad Indians, Deborah Miranda reveals the truth of the horrific pasts of California Native Americans, and gives her ancestors stories a chance to finally be heard. In the section Old News , Deborah Miranda writes poems from the white man s perspective to show the violent racism committed against Native Americans, as well as the indifference of whites to this violence. The title for this selection of poems, Old News , reflects the theme of racism in this section of Miranda s memoir. This title is ironic because the problems in these newspaper clips show new acts of discrimination against Native Americans. However, the violence depicted in these poems has been recurring for hundreds of years. Since the founding of the American colonies in the 1600s, Native Americans have had their land, families, and sense of safety stolen from them. • 9. J. Alfred Prufrock Research Paper During the time period of modernism, society saw a massive shift, especially from the everyday life of people in the cities. With improvements being made in transportation and technology this shifted the way of life to a much faster pace, shrinking the distances between people around the world thus creating a more rapid pace of life. The emphasis on radical innovations left many people will feelings of despair, a sense of meaninglessness, and hopelessness. With the ever growing developments to society, a lack of traditional and cultural norms and beliefs in closely held faiths were strained. These concepts were much illustrated in the literature of the time. Literary figures such as T.S Eliot flawlessly depicted the perception of the troubles of the modern man in his poem The Lovesong of J. When Elizabeth assumed the throne she recognized herself as Protestant. Elizabeth wanted to restore the peace for her people because her sister had already generated many deaths. This all generated a climate of instability in the Catholic Church since they believed it pertinent that a catholic king or queen should claim the throne. • 11. What Does It Stand For Dna Research Paper What does DNA stand for? Deoxyribonucleic acid What is DNA? DNA also known as deoxyribonucleic acid is a complex molecule that carries the genetic information in the cell, essential to build and maintain an organism. The shape of the molecule is described as a double helix . The building blocks of DNA are nucleotides. A nucleotide consists of one phosphate molecule, a five sided sugar molecule (deoxyribose sugar), and one nitrogen base. WHERE IS IT FOUND? DNA is located throughout the body, inside organisms called eukaryotes. Which is found inside a special area of the cell called the nucleus. Organisms have DNA molecules, tightly wound and packaged as a chromosome. DNA is not only located in the nucleus, humans also have a small amount of DNA in cell structure in mitochondria. For each DNA molecule that forms into a chromosome can be seen as a set of shorter DNA sequences. These are the units of DNA function called genes. WHAT IS ITS STRUCTURE AND HOW IS IT ARRANGED? ... The Self Through Self Examination Betterment of the self through self examination seems like a fundamental idea; however, what occurs more often than not in today s social media driven climate is not examining oneself, but instead, comparing oneself to others. Which do you think is more beneficial? It s much easier to make assumptions about the other and compare yourself to your own idea of the other, rather than look inward and try to see past the assumptions of yourself and find your inner truth. It s not easy to resist the idea of rating yourself in comparison to others since it is in human nature to want to place yourself within a system of cultural values in order to determine your position in a cultural matrix. This kind of comparison is mentally taxing, socially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To shift the examination inward towards the self is the only way we could hope to understand our placement in our nation s grand cultural matrix. One of the most difficult things that we can do in a culture that is so surrounded by judgment is to not accept these judgments placed on ourselves, as well as others, as finite. Values placed on yourself by others reduces you to a statement, to words, to a sporadic thought that was devised in the mind of the other. When we accept other s judgments as fact, we have devalued our own judgments which brings up the interesting concept of being able to justly judge yourself. To define one s eyes is almost impossible since we see differently day to day. It is difficult to do yourself justice with a heavy and sure gavle that judges harshly. When we leave the self inappropriable and admit that we can t know ourselves, let alone the other, entirely, we may not feel satisfied; however, it s imperative to admit our lack of understanding of ourselves, so we can continue to define ourselves. When we accept the judgment of others as fact we are in turn being lethargic by not interrogating our ever changing selves. It is true the inability to define oneself fully is a miracle; it is true that knowing yourself fully would leave no room for further discovery, but is it a gift never to know oneself fully? That is one question that we will never know the answer to. To properly interrogate yourself is to learn how to appreciate yourself ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Summary Of Barbie-Q By Sandra Cisneros The story Barbie Q was written by Sandra Cisneros who grew up with a strong male influence in her family, being the only female in a family of six male kids. She began writing at a young age and became an accredited author in 1978 with a Masters degree in Fine Arts at an Iowa Writers Workshop (Cisneros 339). The story Barbie Q is is a work with a strong emphasis on underprivileged females being overruled by society. Cisneros point of the story is to identify that the pressures of females to be in pristine condition and anything less is considered invaluable or worthless. The work of Cisneros exposes the societal pressures of females in everyday life and the inequitable treatment of those that have a better wealth situation than others. The story starts off with two young girls discussing the dolls they see in the store but knowing not to ask for one. The reason the girls know to not ask for one is because their family can t afford a brand new doll. Specifically one of the girls says, We have to make do with the barbies they have now (Cisneros 339). Due to the money issues, the girls feel like they have fewer opportunities in the cultural time period. When they finally can t afford the dolls they arrive at a farmers market where they see a set of dolls for cheap. The dolls were discovered to be damaged physically with a burning down of a warehouse where they were stored. Only two armies were now to attack East Prussia with the rest concentrating on defending Russia from the Austro Hungarian Army. Now the way soldiers attacked in WWI is interesting. Military actions designed to take control of enemy trenches were called attacks or offensives. The difference between attacks and offensives are an attack usually involved a division (16,000 men) while an offensive was bigger and would use at least one corps. The main objective of an attack was to break the enemy line, but an offensive was an attempt to occupy any positions that were taken during the operation. This meant that consistent fighting raised serious problems of running out of supplies. Before attacks and offensives took place, heavy artillery was used to soften up the enemy trenches. Don t Criticize What You Can t Understand Kathleen Wang Mr. Heidt Gifted Honors English Pd. 6/7 10 December 2014 Bob Dylan Don t criticize what you can t understand, said Bob Dylan, one of the most influential figures in folk music and music culture. As a protest singer growing up in a racially tense time affected by the Vietnam War, he was heavily influenced by his background and the social issues of his time. He rose to prominence from Blowin in the Wind (which became an enduring anthem) and many other songs that influenced the young generation of the 1960s. Bob Dylan s interest for music started from a young age. Born on May 24, 1941 as Robert Allen Zimmerman, he started writing poems at age ten (Jarnow). By the time he was a teenager, he had taught himself to play the guitar, the piano, and the harmonica, and participated in bands in high school. After that, he enrolled at the University of Minnesota, dropping out when he became more involved in the music scene than his schoolwork. He moved to New York City, where he went to Greenwich Village and met Woody Guthrie, one of his music idols. He performed as Bob Dylan in nightclubs and coffee houses, gaining respect and recognition from his peers. He released his self titled album, Bob Dylan, in 1962, followed by The Freewheelin Bob Dylan in 1963. His second album contained protest songs such as Blowin in the Wind, which became an enduring anthem of the 1960s. • 18. Patrick Slush Descriptive Writing There is nothing more terribly beautiful than the snow stricken streets of New York City. Beneath a greying evening sky, and between tall buildings of steel, are big flakes of swirling snow that drift and lightly cover every street lamp, branch, shoulder and patch of pavement untouched by moving feet. Patrick Sole, a man without a home, is slumped, in wet, grey slush, against a brick wall. He does not twitch, he does not tremble. And if white begins to blanket his tattered coat, and if his frostnipped fingers begin to numb; well, he does not stir. For how long he has sat there, he does not know, for he looks and feels as white as a ghost. With an icy puff of breath, Patrick blinks slowly and blankly observes the blur of faces before him. As the evening sky blackens, the bustle of the street grows noisier and is lit vividly by street lamps, lights, cars and electronic billboards. It is at that moment Patrick wonders: how can one be so lonely in a city with over nineteen million souls? Patrick is so lost in melancholy that he does not notice a wet nose nudge his gloved hand. And then there is Patrick, frozen in place, watching crowds dart by heedless of him, the dog, and his suffering. The heaviness in his heart continues to grow and grow, weighing him down and filling his chest. It would appear so that if his heart were to collapse under the weight, then an avalanche of his pain would fall and crush the entire city. The most distressing thing in this film is how the racism is been portrayed. First of all it is true that, generally racism is a subject which is always hard to deal with, however, American History X shows it despite being blunt about the subject without any hesitation. In addition, from the movie it presents how Dereck Vinyard as a racist, who is played by Edward, is falsely portrayed the film. However, he is speaks in a well mannered and in a smart way, though he does clearly holds beliefs that are terribly not right. Although other cinematic movie use the same affect, in America History X the black and White sequences are used with more shadowing giving audience an indistinctive edge, and dream like feeling. Another one of the cinematography is use of slow motion. The use of slow motion helps support the purpose of the film and to form a visual mood. For example when they show Danny in the bathroom and the young black student shoots. This slow motion affect gives the viewers a feeling of greater hatred towards the black student who shot Dereck, gave viewers enough time to identify the person who killed him and see the emotions that he expresses and the hatred that him and Danny have the moment before he shot the gun. This affect also affects the audience in their feelings towards hi and then hatred towards him. The American History X sound is acknowledged Dudley s finest film music for this time. Director Tony Kaye requested a sorrowful score of vast orchestral scope. The storytelling in American History X is a very powerful film, which makes its storyline film very realistic. Uranium 235 Neutrons Uranium 235 (U235) on itself is stable, however if an atom is hit with a neutron, it will absorb that neutron turning into Uranium 236 (U236), and therefore becomes unstable. It then spontaneously splits into 2 atoms, krypton 92 and barium 141 molecule. A new nuclei forms when an unstable nucleus decays creating fission products. Essentially, the fewer neutrons there are loose, the fewer fissions will occur. It is noticed that both the atoms do no equal up to 236, because in fact, 3 neutrons are dispersed and then further colliding with other Uranium 235 molecules. • 21. Civil Litigation Procedures And Criminal Litigation The differences between civil litigation procedures and criminal litigation procedures vary significantly from beginning to end; they vary in the initial pretrial proceedings, the actual trail proceedings, and the post trial proceedings or sentencing. Pretrial Pretrial is where the differences between civil cases and criminal cases are most apparent. In the initial preparatory stage for a civil case, a party is usually seeking monetary reimbursements or equitable relief for alleged wrong done by another person or party. The proceedings in a civil case begin with the injured party, the plaintiff, seeking out an attorney. If an attorney accepts the case the client and law firm first draw up a retainer agreement, second begin gathering information and facts to help aid their case, and third begin a correspondence with the defendant called demand letters in which they formally inform the defendant of the charges. If the defendant refuses to offer the requested reimbursement for damages, or, if the plaintiff is unhappy with the defendant s proposals, the two parties prepare for trial. At this point in the proceedings jurisdiction and venue are decided. A pretrial discovery period ensues where more facts are gathered, and written and oral depositions are gathered. To shorten the actual trial, both attorneys meet privately in presence of a judge in a pretrial conference to agree on stipulations and common ground. Often, this meeting results in an actual settlement of the case. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Castro Professor Iyer Pol 1 10 October 2014 Episode 05 An Analysis of Michael Sandel s Justice Can the value of human life be determined by dollars and cents? Is one life more valuable than another, or can one be tossed aside like the leftover change someone receives after buying a hamburger from McDonald s? Placing a monetary value on someone s life is nearly impossible to do, as can be seen in Episode 05 of Michael Sandel s Justice series. Episode 05 is split into two parts, both involving how to determine if a price can be placed on the life of a fellow human being. Part one discusses whether or not it is acceptable to pay someone else to take one s place during military conscription, while part two focuses on whether or not paying for a surrogate mother or father is in fact a monetary transaction of human life. The transaction of human life seems to be morally wrong, but at the same time can be justified. Are human lives simply a figure that can be determined by someone who is paid to see how much someone is worth, or how much someone will be worth? Although the life of someone can be objectively valued, a human life should not be monetarily valued for any reason. The first part of this lecture discussed whether or not someone s draft rights can be sold to another willing to accept payment for their substitution of service. • 23. The First Example Of The French Baroque Style In Paris The façade, which was finished following the completion of the other parts of the church, is considered the first example of the French baroque style in Paris. The existing church was built on a site, which once housed two other churches, between 1494 and 1657. The design was by Salomon de Brosse, whose also designed the Luxembourg Palace. Baroque architecture is considered to be highly decorated with curvaceous forms, a sense of mass and in a large scale. However, the French Baroque style implemented many classical orders and decoration. Classical architecture generally signifies architecture which is more or less deliberately derived from the ideologies of Greek and Roman architecture of classical antiquity. the facade introduced a completely new classical style, whereas the nave of the church was late or flamboyant gothic. Which is why this church is credited as starting the French Baroque style. The facade is situated up fourteen steps and features the three classical orders of architecture one atop the other. The ground floor features three bays with pairs of fluted columns with capitals of the simplest Doric order, with a classical pediment. The Doric capital is adorned with the echinus and the abacus. The Doric entablature is simple, the architrave is the lowest portion, and is divided into the guttae and the taenia, from bottom to top. After Charlemagne s death in 814, a terrible and dark period of cultural decline and terror ensued. They were often built in the general shape of a cross, relying on the basilica as a design base. As for the sculptural decoration, Romanesque architects utilized thin, elongated, and abstract figures. Gothic architecture began in the 12th century and continued well into the 16th century as an attempt to reconcile Christian theology with Greek philosophy. Gothic architecture was deeply rooted in the previous architectural genre, the Romanesque, but architects this time around no longer desired to recapture the classical and antique . If we focus on the Gothic cathedral, we ll find that a Gothic cathedral had a unified and unbroken space that included the apse, rather than separating them like the Romanesque architects did. The main characteristics of Gothic style cathedrals included the groin vault. Barrel vaults had become too difficult to make and too heavy to install and so the Gothic architects decided to pull away from them and utilize groin vaults instead. Comfortable clothes were restricted to weekends and only weekends. But in the midst of a men s wear boom, the rules, and the suits, are loosening up. Men s wardrobe in general has evolved immensely since designers and clothing companies first began creating solely men s wear lines of clothing. Designers and clothing companies not only have men s lines, but they include more than just suits: slacks, button downs, gold shirts, sports coats, polo shirts, and relaxed fit t shirts are just some of the vast array of items now including in men s clothing lines. Men are no longer being confined to the old stereotype of suits during the day, pajamas at night, and comfortable less formal clothes on the weekends. As Tomas Maier, designer of Bottega Veneta, put it, There s a lot of men out there who do not need those sartorial codes. They re not lawyers, they re not working on Wall Street. Upon Jim s sudden death, his widow claims that she is entitled to a share of the firm s assets or should be able to take his Jims place as Kathleen s partner. Is she entitled to her claims? Why or why not? The outcome of this case depends on whether or not a partnership agreement was formed prior to the partner s death. If the partnership agreement wasn t formed, general partnership State statues will take default (Clarkson, 2015, p. 721). However, a partnership agreement will always override state laws. If the provisions allow the partnership to continue after a partner s death, the wife will be entitled to her husband s shares and if the provisions don t state otherwise she will also be able to take over his place in the firm (Wright, 2016). If a partnership agreement does not exist, most states will require a partnership to dissolve after a partner s death. The deceased partner s shares will be used to pay off any debts or obligations and the remainder funds will be distributed to the surviving partners (Wright, 2016). If the deceased partner includes his wife in his will, then a portion of the funds will be distributed to his wife after the dissolution. If his will is in probate, the funds will be distributed to his estate (Wright, 2016). The play displayed the social and economic problems occurring in the United States at that time. Arthur Miller was born into a lower middle class family. His father owned a business of manufacturing ladies wear that suffered a loss during the Great Depression. According to Sinclair s article on Death of a Salesman the country came out of the depression when World War II started and after the War there was an economic boom that increased inner city business and building of apartment housings. Nidal Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, fatally shot 13 people and injured more than 30 others. He was facing a deployment to one of the many war zones overseas (McFadden, 2009). There are many reports about this incident and what actually took place. From what I ve gathered, Hasan went into a processing center where soldiers go before and after they come back from deployment. After Hasan s shooting rampage, he was finally stopped when Army Military Police (MP) officers shot him a total of four times. He is now paralyzed from the waist down due to the shooting. The Fort Hood shooting marked the worst shooting ever to take place on a military installation state side, to record. There was almost no structural damage because he used hand guns instead of bombs, or what we call weapons of mass destruction. This attack is classified as a terrorist attack simply because of what the intention was at the beginning. In my own words, terrorist(s) is someone or groups that have different beliefs and want to force their belief onto you by any means necessary, which may include killing if one doesn t comply.
