Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Research Paper
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is one of the strongest voices in the world presenting a nuanced and
different perspective that challenges a system deeply embedded in visions of a developing, self
contained system of traits that distinguishes one gender from another. She is a human rights activist
and feminist who is dedicated to changing our society one step at a time. Adichie grew up in a
traditional African household where women were told that they would not have a voice because of
limiting factors like their religion, gender, and race. In society, her goal is to have every woman
around the world gain a newfound confidence in themselves, regardless of what normal appears to be.

she met a powerful man in the media back in Nigeria to ask for support launching her poetry book. .
They had a pleasant conversation and they even talked about future projects and past
accomplishments. However, before she knew what was happening, he quickly slipped his hand under
her shirt, assaulting her. She then pushed his hand away, but gently, so he was not too offended.
Adichie chose to speak up later on because she wanted other girls to know that they are not alone, and

Low Thyroid Research Paper
 Digestion: Low thyroid diminishes the release of Gastrin, which determines the productivity of
hydrochloric acid in the stomach, leading to poor protein digestion, sour belly and GERD.
 Thermoregulation: Regulation of body temperature is affected by low thyroid, occasioning in hot
flashes and night perspirations, which is particularly noticeable in pre menopausal females. This is
often accused on estrogen dropping, but may be openly caused by low thyroid.
 PMS and infertility: Low thyroid affects the progesterone receptors, making them less sensitive to
progesterone, which feels like low progesterone although the progesterone levels may be average.
Since the activity of progesterone is reduced, the health of the uterus is inadequate for embedding in
the second half of the female cycle, leading to problems getting pregnant and PMS. Low thyroid also
decreases sex hormone binding proteins, leading to an upsurge in estrogen activity.
 Anemia: Low thyroid, as cited affects protein metabolism, which then drops the red blood cell
mass, which transfers oxygen to tissues for metabolism of energy. Yes, another reason for feeling
lousy.
 Homocysteine: Low thyroid decelerates a procedure called methylation, often verified by raised
serum levels of homocysteine. Raised homocysteine in the blood has been ... Show more content on

Apenas o que for
considerado mais importante é contabilizado, o restante é descartado. Desta forma, a mente humana

Essay On Multi-Linear Regression
A sample size equaling 50 + 8m is required to do a multi linear regression, where m is the number of
independent variables chosen. At least 3 independent variables can be analyzed (assuming a moderate
effect size) taking males and females separately if an equal number of males and females are chosen
(Green, 1991). Thus the sample size is adequate for a multi linear regression analysis.
Therefore a sample size of 154 stable mentally ill patients is thus both practical and also would be
among the highest sample sizes used yet for such a requirement as this study.

Taking a Look at Ellen Degenres
Ellen DeGeneres, beloved media icon and entertainment pioneer, have reached deep into the audiences
hearts since her first comedy stand up appearances in the eighties through her works on television
today. While many Americans now know DeGeneres for her syndicated talk show, The Ellen
DeGeneres Show, and her countless awards, such as the Emmy Awards, American Comedy Awards,
and People s Choice Awards, she is more than just a television celebrity. Both on screen and off
screen, Ellen DeGeneres plays a vital role in various humanitarian efforts and in a civil right
movement throughout the course of her career.
One issue that Ellen DeGeneres fights against is adolescence bullying cases in America. In the past
years, DeGeneres and her show have partnered with Trevor Project and Pacer Center to raise funding
and awareness for the anti bullying movement in the United States. DeGeneres even launched the PSA
titled Be Kind in her effort to spread awareness. Although she might just be one of many advocators
against bullying, her popularity greatly contributed to the spread of the movement. With Ellen
DeGeneres s effort, America is one step closer to eradicating bullying.
During national crisis, Ellen DeGeneres reaches out to many Americans to comfort and relieve them.
After the attack on September 11, 2001, DeGeneres s performance as a host in the Emmy Awards,
while inappropriately timed, was perfectly balanced between wit and heartfelt emotion. 1

Marketing Mix
According to Kotler et al. (2005), the term marketing mix indicates all of the marketing activities
which are applied by the company for an individual range of services at the target market. The
traditional instruments of the marketing mix are the 7 P s of Marketing. Those are product, price,
place, promotion, people, process and physical evidence. In the following paragraphs the marketing
mix will be applied to the St Patrick s Festival in Birmingham.
Product
The Festival lasts three weeks. During these weeks there are different events held for the whole
family. Beside the different events the people are celebrating with a St Patrick s Parade from Camp
Hill to Digbeth (St. Patrick s Birmingham, n.d.). The Parade is the third biggest world parade after
New York and Dublin (BBC News, 15.03.2014). The city is hosting the event since 1996 (BBC News,
17.03.2014).
Price
The events are mostly for free. However some events costs money for example the Irish Music Night
or the Festival Launch. But the events are charged because the organizers have to cover their costs.
The Irish Music Night is held in a theatre where the rent has to be paid for. Additionally the band
needs to get paid. Moreover at the Festival Launch, the customers have to pay 10 pounds but this
event includes a two course menu and live music (St Patrick s Birmingham, n.d.).

Revolutionary Mothers Summary
During the American Revolution, men were often thought to have been the only ones to fight and
participate in the war. While men were the majority that fought in the actual war, women were left to
tend to all of the duties left by men, as well as, their own duties. Women were the backbone of towns,
farms, and other businesses during the war. The book, Revolutionary Mothers by Carol Berkin, shares
the stories of what women went through during the Revolutionary War. Carol Berkin writes about
what all the women, no matter what race or political beliefs, went through during the war, and how
these women handled the war. The book, Revolutionary Mothers, tells of the hardships women of the
revolution had to go through in order for life to go on. The book tells of what Patriot, Loyalist, Native
American, African American, and American women went through while the men fought. It tells you
about what happened when the British invaded the farms and houses of the Americans, and what
happened to women. The author describes the stories of women whose husbands fought on the
Patriots side, and the husbands who fought for the Loyalists side. Also, it shows you how the roles of
the women in society changed throughout from an obedient housewife to protector of the family.
While this book can be read by anyone wanting to learn about history, feminists would be the people
most interested in reading, Revolutionary Mothers. Feminists would be deeply interested in this book
because it tells you

The Audience Of Jesus s Speech
The audience that Jesus was speaking to was engulfed in the teaching of the day. Not only through the
hearing of the teachings, but also through the actions of those in religious leadership and the actions of
normal every day people. Jesus made sure that the church was aware that he was not discounting the
law or trying to replace it, but rather he was getting back to the heart of the law and showing how
kingdom people live out these laws . Jesus did this by going through laws that had been given and
misinterpreted, and then Jesus guides them on what the law was originally trying to say. I will argue
that Jesus was trying to get back to the heart of the laws that were given, as well as encourage his
followers to give up their rights for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Verse 33 in Matthew 5 the first type of oaths that are addressed are oaths made to the Lord. Something
that was common to both the Jewish culture and the Gentile culture is that the mention of a deity in an
oath spoke to the truth of the oath and also to punish the one taking the oath if what was affirmed was
not true . People soon began manipulating this by thinking that they could manipulate God into doing
things . They were trying to limit the freedom which God possesses. Jesus then goes on to say, Do not
swear at all and continues on to list several things that are not to be sworn by. During this time, if
someone had made an oath and it turned out to be false, as long as the offending party had not sworn
to the Lord it was not looked at as a serious offense . Swearing by heaven, earth, Jerusalem, or even
one s own head was an even less serious type of oath and if people were already doubting the
assurance of the Lord, how much more would they have questioned the truthfulness of an oath made
to something seen as a lesser binding object ? One commentator notes that although the Greek word
choice is an unconditional negative it does not preclude all oaths. To take this as an unconditional
statement poses significant problems for the audience. In the Old Testament God himself made oaths .
Some commentators would even say that when Jesus makes the truly, truly statements he is swearing
to be true . One commentary even goes on to say, in

The Millionaire Next Door Analysis
The Millionaire Next Door is insightful book for those wanting to understand how your money works
for you. This being said, Thomas J. Stanley did a splendid job ensuring that you get his main points
accessed on how people who are millionaires stay millionaires, these points include living below your
income, manage your time and money efficiently, living independently is more important than
showing high social status, not relying on your parents for money, having children who are self
sufficient, and choosing the right occupation. From these points the most the top three most valuable
in my opinion are living below your income, manage your time and money efficiently, living
independently is more important than showing high social status, having children who are self
sufficient, this is technically four but I believe that if you are going to live below your income you are
going to have to manage your time and money efficiently, thus, in my opinion putting them as one
point.

article was published Sept. 17, 2001 in MacLean s. This is an article that tries to reach out to street
racers and also anyone interested in knowing more about street racing and its dangers. The article
discusses how for the driver, racing is an exciting adrenaline rush, but for the people, is an

They can put everyone around them in danger because of this. Some racers though do have years of
driving experience but when a driver is going at high speeds, even the slightest mis calculation can
lead them to their doom. A professional NASCAR racer could die in street racing, not because of their
driving, but because of the possibility of a random car to cross the traffic, because remember, they are
on a public road.
Paul Mark touches both the street racers and the general people s sides of emotions in this article. Paul
Mark is one of the few non street racers to admit how street racing is exciting, but is also quick to
come back to reality to recognize the consequences of it. Yes street racing is fun, exciting, and an
adrenaline rush, but it is not worth people dying over. The bottom line that Paul Mark explains in this
article is that people are dying. This is not going to be tolerated and will have police on a heavy crack
down against street racers.
Paul Mark touches us deep down inside by the use of telling about the people that died in his article. It
is all fun and games until someone dies. That is what it takes for people to realize how dangerous
street racing is. People feel remorse for those that have died and therefore feel the need to act against
the cause. No one wants to lose a loved one. The thought that the innocent person hit by one of the

Natives and Self-government Essay
Natives and Self government
From the moment of organized European appearances in North America, negotiation has been a
central characteristic of relationships between aboriginal residents and newcomers. It is a
characteristic that has been evident in treaty making throughout Canada for more than three hundred
years and it continues to be the order of the day in modern treaties, claims and agreements being
negotiated with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis across in Canada. 1
One of the central issues in the negotiations over the past three decades has been the question of
aboriginal self government, which has taken second place only to comprehensive land claims
negotiations in areas where no treaties have been signed to date.
VIEWS OF ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among academics, political leaders, and government representatives differences of opinion and
concern abound: differences about the most beneficial structure of self government, about who
controls what, about when self government should be implemented, about whether or not a true form
self government can ever be achieved.
Those who are critical of current forms of aboriginal self government view them as little more than
convenient arrangements that allow aboriginal people administrative responsibility for services which
are ultimately controlled by the federal or provincial government.3 They argue that self government is
essentially glorified municipal government; arrangements which are far from the ideal of a third level
of government equal in legislative and financial authority to the federal and provincial governments.4
Self government proposals also have their critics among the very people for whom it is intended. For
example, Inuit women have objected to many parts of the Nunavut agreement mainly because of
concerns about an emphasis on conventional southern Canadian notions of resource management.
They also had concerns and about an emphasis on the economic, social and political roles and issues
for men at the expense of those of women in Nunavut (Inuit Women‰s Association, 1993). In

Ballet Slippers Culture is the overview of how a group of people live, their beliefs and moral system,
and basic things such as how they dress. Culture is subjective, no two people see it the same way. I
may see Scottish culture as a group of people who wear kilts and play bagpipes, but someone else may
think it involves red hair and haggis. Culture is often made up of stereotypes, for example: someone
may believe that Canadian culture is igloos, pet polar bears, apologizing, and saying eh after every
word. In reality Canadian culture from the perspective of someone living in it includes: different
religions, holding the door for someone behind you, and wearing a tuque in winter. There are multiple

Essay about Consumer Appeal
Consumer Appeal
Advertisers of today have strategically combined commercials and television shows in order to sell
products. Gloria Steinem discusses a similar idea in her article, quot;Sex, Lies, and Advertising. quot;
She repeatedly demonstrates how advertisements, particularly in magazines, are complementary to the
articles around them. In the same manner, so are commercials to television programs.
They are both aimed at the same groups or types of people, such as sex, age, gender, etc.

This leaves a majority of the older crowds watching the program.
According to Gloria Steinem, the target of the television show will be the same as that of the
commercials. This proved to be true with quot;Profiler quot; and its commercials. There were a total
of twenty commercials aired. They included and Allstate Insurance ad, a number of car dealers and
promotions, chewing gum, beauty products, medicine, food, and television satellites. Most of them
had female voice overs with predominantly white actors and/or actresses. The actors and/or actresses
were also good looking, thin, and of high to medium status.
In Steinem s terms, and as mentioned by Cayo Gamber, an advertisement is generally linked to the
article, or in this case, the program. The show is seen as a quot;complementary copy quot; for the
commercials; because it included certain accessories to a person in the same life style as the characters
in the program.
The cars advertisements, in particular, were at times found in the show.

maintain the intended target interested and tuned in to that specific channel.

The Ocean Has Been My Favorite Environment
For as long as I can remember, the ocean has been my favorite environment. It s the only place that I
constantly feel at one with the earth and my surroundings. From an early age I always had an idea on
what I wanted to pursue as my career. I would read books about the oceanic world below and The
Great Barrier Reef in Australia. It wasn t until I encountered a wild dolphin at Clearwater beach,
Florida that I decided to be a marine biologist. The dolphin was so friendly and welcoming, swimming
by me and my brother and allowing us to stroke his slimy skin. That experience will stick with me
forever and is a huge part of why I want to pursue a career in marine biology.
When I chose to be a marine biologist, my parents were very supportive. They would take us to the
beach as much as possible for vacations, but also for me to be in that environment often. There are
numerous goals that I would hope to accomplish in my field like being promoted to the highest
position possible and being paid the maximum salary. Those goals will motivate me to work to my
fullest potential and always work my hardest. My ultimate goal is of course to help the world by
finding better ways to help out the ocean biome and to make the animals that live there become safer.
Making sure the animals are being treated good and the environment will help the surface world in
multiple ways.

remaining 10 were dated between 2002 and 2009, therefore the time frames for these articles are

The checklist looked at whether the catheter was intact and occlusive, a date and initials were visible
on the dressing, proper dressing change was done in correct time frame, assessments were done daily
by either a member of the catheter care team or by a nurse, a chlorhexidine sponge was properly in
place, and alcohol impregnated caps were being used correctly. A weakness for this type of data
collection can be related to human error and improper or incorrect notation of information on the
checklists. Attempts to prevent these kind of errors can be related to all members of the catheter teams
had to attend training at the beginning, middle and end of the study to show competence and
understanding on all components of the maintenance bundle. Additionally, nursing directors, at each
facility would conduct random once a week inspections of every patient that had a central line and
complete a checklist to capture the data. A clinical trial manager would review the checklists and
would also conduct on site compliance visits (Grigonis et. al., 2016).
The population included for this research study was long term acute care hospital patients that had a
central line whose tip terminated in a great vessel and roughly 65% of the patients admitted

Essay on The Power of Money in Campaign Finance
It may seem that with the Buckley decision, soft money and PACs the hope for reform has been lost,
however there is still hope. The Supreme Court upheld the voluntary public financing of presidential
election, which was considered a great step forward because taking public funds requires the candidate
to limit their spending on the federal level. There is also the hard money in political campaigns, which
is strictly regulated by law through the Federal Election Commission. Hard money is the contrast to
soft money meaning that it is the contributions made by a person or PAC that gives to a federal
campaign or political party for the use in federal elections. But of course with one step forward there
is always two steps back. Because of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, all means of legal cheating had been justified.
PACs and overly wealthy individuals are not the only ones dipping their hands in the secretly jumbled
world of campaign finance. Smaller interest groups and lobbyists are also getting their favors and
paychecks. Because election laws are so crammed with exceptions these different groups can directly
and openly support a candidate spending as much money as they would like. This loophole is referred
to as independent expenditures. The Supreme Court cleared the way for smaller groups to work
directly for or against a candidate, so long as the group does not coordinate its efforts with the
candidate it supports. Although these expenditures tend to be a just a bit smaller then soft money
funds, they are far more straightforward and blunt which proves to be even more effective (Anderson
2000).
In my view, campaign finance has gone from something that could potentially help give the power of
government back to the people to a complete joke. When trying to answer the questions of campaign
finance you get a series of hidden meanings, jumbled definitions and no real answer to you questions,
which is exactly the way Washington and campaign workers like it. The more bizarre and convoluted
the rules are the more money each campaign can make. It seems that only way to find out any real
information is to become a member of the inside, controlling the way campaigns really operate and
change.

Theme Of Love In A Midsummer Night s Dream
An Analysis of Love in A Midsummer Night s Dream
Love within the modern society has taken on a flippant meaning, depending on the phraseology used
around the context of the word. Love is used interchangeably with the idea that I love apple pie to I
love this new car to the point in which the term love is devalued within our society. How can one say
they love their spouse or children and not devalue the true meaning of this intent, when they claim to
love apple pie as well? Within the play A Midsummer Night s Dream, a careful evaluation of the
various love within the play will reveal the difference in the types of love one might feel to describe
various situations and relationships. In Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream, love ... Show

Titania wakes from a sleep to fall in love with Bottom, who has the head of an ass, while Lysander
awakes to find himself in love with Helena, who he has shown no interest prior to the application of
the love juice (Bevington, 2014, p. 55). This love juice application is the ultimate form of forced love,
in which there is manipulation of the mind to induce the love, rather than a change in the heart to
create a true love. A true love creates a romantic love in which two people feel the love between them,
and this leads into the second form of love depicted by Shakespeare, the love described as Eros love,
is the love between Lysander and Hermia. Eros love is a love that cannot be obtained between siblings
or friends, but only attainable within a form of erotic and sexual love, as found between two lovers,
such as husband and wife (Moseley, n.d.). The love between the two of these characters is a real love
that does not require a love potion to create the love. Hermia displays this love well with her statement
I would rather my father looked but with my eyes , where she indicates the love she has for Lysander,
can only be seen through the lens of her eyes (Bevington, 2014, p. 47). This love comes from the
truest sense of the word where they each have a desire for the other, from a love that requires no
outside influence or assistance, but is created in the heart of each of the lovers. Parental

How Did The Black Death Affect European Society

The Black Death
Black death was one of few diseases which cause traumatizing effect on the European society during
the Middle Ages and that impact urged the Europeans to make a revolutionary progress in their lives
and medicine. During the Middle Ages, the Black Death has impacted Europe by killing off the
majority population that Europe originally possessed. The doctor at the time were working off their
minds trying to find an anecdote for such brutal disease but has never have found a cure. People at the
time relied on religion in the hope that God would mercy them from this terrible punishment. People
after the back death were able to realize the fact that their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These factors lead into the research question of this essay, how did the Black Death during the middle
ages affect how the usage of medicine changed at the time?
First, I will introduce the Middle Ages society and its functioning. First of all, a Middle Ages society
is one very unique because they have the feudal system introduced to by the Norman conqueror
William in 1066 and he was able to develop the feudal system and became widely used in Europe.
This is one of the key points why there were many kingdoms in the continent of Europe because they
are capable of self supporting and was able to keep the manor system stable and have their own
economic system. Now, the manor system works like this: the king or the ruler is the highest class of
all and owns the land of the entire kingdom and the king gave land and protection for military service,
labor, and loyalty. The nobles, whom was given land by the king and that they own everything one the
land given to them and promises that they will in return offer the king loyalty and service. The vassals
are the ones who were given land by the nobles in exchange for service and loyalty. The knights, who

Religion s Views On Religion
Religion has been present in this world for thousands of years, providing ancient civilizations with
answers to their questions and a moral code to abide by. Today, religion still serves that same purpose
and more, forming and changing as time goes on. Though religions today may share some elements,
they do share vastly different opinions on the soul, time, truth, and the senses, and provide answers
and a way of life to those who desire it.
Two forms of religion are animism versus anthropocentrism. Animism is the belief that everything has
a soul animals, plants, the elements. Animistic religions view everything as sacred, so the Earth and
those who inhabit deserve to be treated with respect. Anthropocentric religions, however, hold a
drastically different opinion. While animistic religions view all as sacred, anthropocentric religions
such as Christianity, Judaism, and Islam believe that only humans have a soul, placing them on a
pedestal and view them as something more than all other lifeforms. Due to the beliefs of
anthropocentric religions, it can be argued that they benefit the capitalist economy. The capitalist
economy likes to turn anything into a profit, and by placing humans on a pedestal and viewing
everything else as a lesser being, anthropocentric religions allow the exploitation of natural resources
without disrespecting a life form. While animistic religions would voice out against mass energy
consumption, anthropocentric religions permit it for the

Stereotypes In The Year 2000
Low cut jeans, halter tops, Von Dutch hats, and velour Juicy Couture tracksuits. Ed Hardy shirts, fake
Louis Vuitton handbags, and neckties as necklaces. Flare pants, chunky highlights, rhinestones, and
Baby Phat phone cases. Welcome to the year 2000. I bet many of you readers just got flashbacks. I
also bet many of you cringed and/or gasped in horror at said flashbacks. It s not an uncommon
reaction. Our own Andrea Klick summed it up when I told her my idea for this column: 2000s style is
disgusting! Indeed, most people would love to forget the aesthetic of this particular decade. The
transition from the oft lauded 90s to the big, fat, futuristic Y2K created a culture dominated by
Myspace, MTV, and Paris Hilton, with Kim Kardashian following her like a spray tanned, bag toting

dismissed. We ve kept the early aughts frozen in time, never to be thawed and let their Victoria s
Secret body spray scented charms flow back into the mainstream. Until now. The first inklings of the

Does Energy Have To Do With Acid Rain Essay
November 1st 2015
To the federal government:
The purpose behind this letter to you is to inform you with the big issue that is taking place in our
planet, which is the effect of acid rain on lakes and streams (aquatic systems).
Acid rain occurs because of the dissolution of acidic oxides in the atmosphere. When these two
compounds are released into the air, they form acid rain, which are nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide S
+ O2 SO2, which is produced by natural means, like volcanoes and industrial processes such as the
burning of fossil fuels (brown coal) C + O2 CO2. The two compounds dissolve in water and are
carried very far by wind where they become part of snow and fog. Oxides from sulfur and nitrogen
react with moisture in the clouds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though acid rain is a big issue, there are ways it can be prevented. One of the biggest ways acid rain
can be stopped is by lowering your energy consumption. Now you might think, what does energy have
to do with acid rain ? It actually has a big affect. By switching off the lights when you leave a room,
turning off your computers televisions when they aren t being used. Closing the air conditioner/heaters
when you leave your home can make a big difference, because when less electricity is used, the
pollution from power plants decreases. Power plants also known as power station is an electric
generating station
Another way acid rain can be prevented is by using fewer cars! There are so many different ways of
transportation. You can use bikes if you aren t going a long distance, you can use a train, if you live
near a friends house you can car pool, and this all decreases reliance on fossil fuels. Cars also emit
carbon dioxide, which contributes to global warming which is affecting the environment. As the
temperature rises, more rain falls, which increases the risk of heavier flooding. Ice is melting, and that
is dangerous for future sea level rise. Also many countries already have very low water, and when the
climate changes it changes precipitation patterns, and increasing droughts, which is dangerous because
people are running out of water. But a positive impact is that electric cars are better for the
environment because they only use battery power, meaning there is no burning of gasoline or other

To What Extent Have Constitutional Reforms Since 1997 Made...
To what extent have constitutional reforms introduced since 1997 made the UK more democratic?
Constitutional reform is a process whereby the fundamental nature of the system of government is
changed or where a change is proposed. In the UK this may also involve the process of codification.
Since 1997 there has been many key reforms that have made UK more democratic by a large amount
and sometimes not so much if at all.
Firstly the House of Lords reform where the voting rights of most hereditary peers was abolished. This
makes the UK less undemocratic rather then more democratic. This is due to the fact that the House of
Lords as a whole is an unelected chamber and therefore undemocratic, however by removing the
voting rights of some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reforms of Devolution where power was transferred from Westminster to different elected bodies
around the country. This makes the UK more democratic as power is no longer centralised and areas
such as parts of Scotland, Wales and Ireland will not be neglected. However England itself does not
have its own assembly and the fact that we cannot vote on certain things in areas of the UK, but
everyone can vote in policies in England could be seen to be undemocratic. Overall this reform
however has made the UK more democratic as it means areas will not be forgotten about and countries
and areas within the UK can get specific things that that area may want or need more then others.
The Human rights act in 1998 where the UK included the European convention of Human Rights into
British Law. This reform could be seen to be very undemocratic as it means we have taken up laws
that are not are own and a power that we have not elected has technically come up with certain laws
within Britain. However it also means that it gives everyone the same rights and more freedoms
meaning that in turn we as a country should become more democratic.I think this does make us more
democratic as it does prevent our government abusing its power and mistreating citizens and prevent
the possibility of an elected dictatorship As a higher power can step in.
Overall I think reforms since 1997 have made the UK slightly more democratic but not to a huge
extent.

Essay On Public Broadcasting In Canada
Bringing Canadians Together
In 1991, Canada passed the broadcasting act in order to ensure that all media in Canada operates in
way that provides unbiased facts to all Canadians. Through this act the Canadian Government ensures
that all funds spent on financing public broadcasting in this fine nation goes to further developing our
culture, and creating a distinction between Canadian and American ways of life. Public broadcasting
see that each dollar spent on Canadian media solidifies a platform for Canadian identity to be built
upon, instead of allowing American broadcasters to flow uncompetitive in Canada. By paying for
media, the government also allows equal distribution of French language in the fourth estate. These
reasons are why it is crucial that the Canadian Government finances public broadcasting, because the

today because they want to be aware of opportunities, concerns, and risks etc. While this style is
popular, it is not 100% effective and will likely become less effective as technology continues to
evolve and more people work outside the office. Virgin Group is a company with employees
worldwide; if Sir Branson wants to retain and increase organizational success he must enhance his
Leadership Style by including components of Global Leadership. For example, Sir Branson
recognizes the future trend of global warming and made a personal investment in anticipation of future
opportunities. However, he may have missed an opportunity to include the Virgin Group
team/organization in his personal vision.
The Global Warming initiative could be an opportunity to for Sir Branson to inspire and lead his
Global Team and effect positive, productive change within the organization on a global level.
As the organization grows and technology advances, he may have fewer opportunities to respond
personally to letters and e mail communications daily. Face to face visits with employees at Virgin
Group locations may have to be replaced with a different method of personalized communication.
Recommend a different leadership style (or combination of styles) that would make Branson an even
more effective leader.
I would recommend a combination of the Facilitate and Delegate leadership styles for Sir Branson.

Machiavelli s The Prince Is Call A Classic
Machiavelli The Prince is call a classic. In today s contemporary society I believe that some of
Machiavelli advice would be relevant. His first piece of advice was teaching us how having
knowledge in the military is an important quality that a prince can achieve. Second a person should be
a true friend and a true enemy. Thirdly Machiavelli says do not be generous with your money, you ll
just have to tax harder and you ll lose the support of your citizens. Fourthly in order for a prince to
keep his power he must avoid the hatred of his people. Lastly most of our traits that we learn come
from human nature and we should use these traits to the best of our ability. Machiavelli wrote a
manual on how to rule and govern during the Italian Renaissance. The Italian Renaissance has taken
place several years ago, in today s contemporary society the world is different now. Machiavelli
believed it was better to feared than love. Machiavelli never supported cruelty and violence although,
he did believe that sometimes being cruel and violent would be good for the republic. His social
advice is very useful in today s society. Machiavelli believed that you should stay true yourself and
always keep in mind that everybody isn t always going to do the right thing. Machiavelli states that
how one lives are so far distant from how one ought to live. (chapter1) In today s society we do have

The Cardiovascular System Of Atherosclerosis
The cardiovascular system is composed of thousands of tubes, known as blood vessels that blood
travels in. Blood is constantly being pumped to and from the heart through arteries and veins,
respectively. Oxygen, nutrients, water, wastes are just some of the substances moving throughout the
body via the blood vessels. Because this system is very complex, many issues can occur which inhibit
the cardiovascular system from doing its job. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a category of diseases
that relate to the heart and blood vessels. The most common form of CVD is coronary heart disease

of plaque can lead to heart disease and cause a heart attack as well as many other health

A Comparison Of The Glass Menagerie
While reading Tennessee Williams play, The Glass Menagerie , readers are drawn into the drama and
disaster that is the Wingfield family. There were several different film and television versions of this
play done thru the years from 1950 to 1987. After watching several different adaptations, Paul
Newman s film adaptation in 1987 is extremely faithful to the written version. Focusing on plot,
setting, and character development the audience is introduced to a family with an austere future
structured around a series of abandonments, difficulty accepting reality and the impossibility of true

Social Classes In The Leopard
A major part of society, ranging from the beginning of time until present day, has been the aspect of
social classes and the distinguishing features between the different levels. In Giuseppe Di Lampedusa

the class the main character, Prince Fabrizio, belongs to. It is seen through the novel quite clearly the
distinction between the different social classes ,the relationships between them, and why characters in
the different classes behave as they do. The characters in this book that are members of the aristocracy
are also a part of the royal, or now ex royal, Salinas family. Prince Fabrizio and his wife Princess
Stella were born into this life of luxury. They even brought in a few children, Concetta and Paolo.
Prince Fabrizio is an extremely dynamic character. He is used to being rich just because he was born
rich and is not interested in working hard for what he has. He was presented with a job to work for the
new Italian government but turned it down and recommended Don Calogero because of what seemed
to be a lack of motivation to actually have to work in order to earn money. Fabrizio is described to be
quick tempered and that is proven when he gets upset in the garden

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Research Paper Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is one of the strongest voices in the world presenting a nuanced and different perspective that challenges a system deeply embedded in visions of a developing, self contained system of traits that distinguishes one gender from another. She is a human rights activist and feminist who is dedicated to changing our society one step at a time. Adichie grew up in a traditional African household where women were told that they would not have a voice because of limiting factors like their religion, gender, and race. In society, her goal is to have every woman around the world gain a newfound confidence in themselves, regardless of what normal appears to be. Low Thyroid Research Paper  Digestion: Low thyroid diminishes the release of Gastrin, which determines the productivity of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, leading to poor protein digestion, sour belly and GERD.  Thermoregulation: Regulation of body temperature is affected by low thyroid, occasioning in hot flashes and night perspirations, which is particularly noticeable in pre menopausal females. This is often accused on estrogen dropping, but may be openly caused by low thyroid.  PMS and infertility: Low thyroid affects the progesterone receptors, making them less sensitive to progesterone, which feels like low progesterone although the progesterone levels may be average. Since the activity of progesterone is reduced, the health of the uterus is inadequate for embedding in the second half of the female cycle, leading to problems getting pregnant and PMS. Low thyroid also decreases sex hormone binding proteins, leading to an upsurge in estrogen activity.  Anemia: Low thyroid, as cited affects protein metabolism, which then drops the red blood cell mass, which transfers oxygen to tissues for metabolism of energy. Verse 33 in Matthew 5 the first type of oaths that are addressed are oaths made to the Lord. Something that was common to both the Jewish culture and the Gentile culture is that the mention of a deity in an oath spoke to the truth of the oath and also to punish the one taking the oath if what was affirmed was not true . People soon began manipulating this by thinking that they could manipulate God into doing things . They were trying to limit the freedom which God possesses. Jesus then goes on to say, Do not swear at all and continues on to list several things that are not to be sworn by. During this time, if someone had made an oath and it turned out to be false, as long as the offending party had not sworn to the Lord it was not looked at as a serious offense . Swearing by heaven, earth, Jerusalem, or even one s own head was an even less serious type of oath and if people were already doubting the assurance of the Lord, how much more would they have questioned the truthfulness of an oath made to something seen as a lesser binding object ? One commentator notes that although the Greek word choice is an unconditional negative it does not preclude all oaths. To take this as an unconditional statement poses significant problems for the audience. In the Old Testament God himself made oaths . Some commentators would even say that when Jesus makes the truly, truly statements he is swearing to be true . One commentary even goes on to say, in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is also the hard money in political campaigns, which is strictly regulated by law through the Federal Election Commission. This loophole is referred to as independent expenditures. The Supreme Court cleared the way for smaller groups to work directly for or against a candidate, so long as the group does not coordinate its efforts with the candidate it supports. Although these expenditures tend to be a just a bit smaller then soft money funds, they are far more straightforward and blunt which proves to be even more effective (Anderson 2000). This love juice application is the ultimate form of forced love, in which there is manipulation of the mind to induce the love, rather than a change in the heart to create a true love. A true love creates a romantic love in which two people feel the love between them, and this leads into the second form of love depicted by Shakespeare, the love described as Eros love, is the love between Lysander and Hermia. • 25. Religion s Views On Religion Religion has been present in this world for thousands of years, providing ancient civilizations with answers to their questions and a moral code to abide by. Today, religion still serves that same purpose and more, forming and changing as time goes on. Though religions today may share some elements, they do share vastly different opinions on the soul, time, truth, and the senses, and provide answers and a way of life to those who desire it. Two forms of religion are animism versus anthropocentrism. Animism is the belief that everything has a soul animals, plants, the elements. Animistic religions view everything as sacred, so the Earth and those who inhabit deserve to be treated with respect. Anthropocentric religions, however, hold a drastically different opinion. While animistic religions view all as sacred, anthropocentric religions such as Christianity, Judaism, and Islam believe that only humans have a soul, placing them on a pedestal and view them as something more than all other lifeforms. Due to the beliefs of anthropocentric religions, it can be argued that they benefit the capitalist economy. The capitalist economy likes to turn anything into a profit, and by placing humans on a pedestal and viewing everything else as a lesser being, anthropocentric religions allow the exploitation of natural resources without disrespecting a life form. Flare pants, chunky highlights, rhinestones, and Baby Phat phone cases. Welcome to the year 2000. I bet many of you readers just got flashbacks. I also bet many of you cringed and/or gasped in horror at said flashbacks. It s not an uncommon reaction. Our own Andrea Klick summed it up when I told her my idea for this column: 2000s style is disgusting! Indeed, most people would love to forget the aesthetic of this particular decade. The transition from the oft lauded 90s to the big, fat, futuristic Y2K created a culture dominated by Myspace, MTV, and Paris Hilton, with Kim Kardashian following her like a spray tanned, bag toting lapdog. Call the decade too recent or call it too horrible; either way, a 2000s style revival is an idea oft dismissed. We ve kept the early aughts frozen in time, never to be thawed and let their Victoria s Secret body spray scented charms flow back into the mainstream. Until now. • 27. Does Energy Have To Do With Acid Rain Essay November 1st 2015 To the federal government: The purpose behind this letter to you is to inform you with the big issue that is taking place in our planet, which is the effect of acid rain on lakes and streams (aquatic systems). Acid rain occurs because of the dissolution of acidic oxides in the atmosphere. When these two compounds are released into the air, they form acid rain, which are nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide S + O2 SO2, which is produced by natural means, like volcanoes and industrial processes such as the burning of fossil fuels (brown coal) C + O2 CO2. The two compounds dissolve in water and are carried very far by wind where they become part of snow and fog. Oxides from sulfur and nitrogen react with moisture in the clouds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though acid rain is a big issue, there are ways it can be prevented. One of the biggest ways acid rain can be stopped is by lowering your energy consumption. Now you might think, what does energy have to do with acid rain ? It actually has a big affect. By switching off the lights when you leave a room, turning off your computers televisions when they aren t being used. Closing the air conditioner/heaters when you leave your home can make a big difference, because when less electricity is used, the pollution from power plants decreases. Power plants also known as power station is an electric generating station Another way acid rain can be prevented is by using fewer cars! There are so many different ways of transportation. You can use bikes if you aren t going a long distance, you can use a train, if you live near a friends house you can car pool, and this all decreases reliance on fossil fuels. Cars also emit carbon dioxide, which contributes to global warming which is affecting the environment. As the temperature rises, more rain falls, which increases the risk of heavier flooding. Ice is melting, and that is dangerous for future sea level rise. Also many countries already have very low water, and when the climate changes it changes precipitation patterns, and increasing droughts, which is dangerous because people are running out of water. But a positive impact is that electric cars are better for the environment because they only use battery power, meaning there is no burning of gasoline or other fossil ... • 28. To What Extent Have Constitutional Reforms Since 1997 Made... To what extent have constitutional reforms introduced since 1997 made the UK more democratic? Constitutional reform is a process whereby the fundamental nature of the system of government is changed or where a change is proposed. In the UK this may also involve the process of codification. Since 1997 there has been many key reforms that have made UK more democratic by a large amount and sometimes not so much if at all. Firstly the House of Lords reform where the voting rights of most hereditary peers was abolished. This makes the UK less undemocratic rather then more democratic. This is due to the fact that the House of Lords as a whole is an unelected chamber and therefore undemocratic, however by removing the voting rights of some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reforms of Devolution where power was transferred from Westminster to different elected bodies around the country. This makes the UK more democratic as power is no longer centralised and areas such as parts of Scotland, Wales and Ireland will not be neglected. However England itself does not have its own assembly and the fact that we cannot vote on certain things in areas of the UK, but everyone can vote in policies in England could be seen to be undemocratic. Overall this reform however has made the UK more democratic as it means areas will not be forgotten about and countries and areas within the UK can get specific things that that area may want or need more then others. The Human rights act in 1998 where the UK included the European convention of Human Rights into British Law. This reform could be seen to be very undemocratic as it means we have taken up laws that are not are own and a power that we have not elected has technically come up with certain laws within Britain. However it also means that it gives everyone the same rights and more freedoms meaning that in turn we as a country should become more democratic.I think this does make us more democratic as it does prevent our government abusing its power and mistreating citizens and prevent the possibility of an elected dictatorship As a higher power can step in. Overall I think reforms since 1997 have made the UK slightly more democratic but not to a huge extent. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On Public Broadcasting In Canada Bringing Canadians Together In 1991, Canada passed the broadcasting act in order to ensure that all media in Canada operates in way that provides unbiased facts to all Canadians. Through this act the Canadian Government ensures that all funds spent on financing public broadcasting in this fine nation goes to further developing our culture, and creating a distinction between Canadian and American ways of life. Public broadcasting see that each dollar spent on Canadian media solidifies a platform for Canadian identity to be built upon, instead of allowing American broadcasters to flow uncompetitive in Canada. His first piece of advice was teaching us how having knowledge in the military is an important quality that a prince can achieve. Second a person should be a true friend and a true enemy. Thirdly Machiavelli says do not be generous with your money, you ll just have to tax harder and you ll lose the support of your citizens. Fourthly in order for a prince to keep his power he must avoid the hatred of his people. Lastly most of our traits that we learn come from human nature and we should use these traits to the best of our ability. Machiavelli wrote a manual on how to rule and govern during the Italian Renaissance. The Italian Renaissance has taken place several years ago, in today s contemporary society the world is different now. Machiavelli believed it was better to feared than love. Machiavelli never supported cruelty and violence although, he did believe that sometimes being cruel and violent would be good for the republic. His social advice is very useful in today s society. Machiavelli believed that you should stay true yourself and always keep in mind that everybody isn t always going to do the right thing. Social Classes In The Leopard A major part of society, ranging from the beginning of time until present day, has been the aspect of social classes and the distinguishing features between the different levels. In Giuseppe Di Lampedusa s novel The Leopard, through the use of different characters to symbolize the different social classes and the relationships between them, the author successfully distinguished and defined the different groups in nineteenth century Italian society.
