Description And Summarization Of Two Zip Codes Zip Code 95661
Description and Summarization of Two Zip Codes Zip code 95661 is located in the community
of Roseville, the largest city in Placer County. It is located 20 miles east of Sacramento and was
once considered a railroad town. In 2011, zip code 95661 had a recorded population of 30,730
people and covered an area of approximately 9.0 square miles. It has a population density of
3,414 people per square mile (City data.com, 2011). In comparison, zip code 95945 is located in
Grass Valley, which is part of the Nevada County. The city of Grass Valley is historically known
as a gold mining town that is geographically located one hour north of Sacramento. As of 2012,
zip code 95945 had a recorded population of 12,808 with a total of 64.23 square miles. It has a

noticeable differences between both zip codes that are observable by entering and driving
through both communities. Although both zip codes encompass a mix of businesses as well as
homes; however, Roseville has a denser area of homes in one area and have well known
employers like Hewlett Packard, Kaiser Permanente, and Sutter Roseville Medical Center.
Roseville is a rising metropolitan city with multiple box stores on almost every corner of the city.

The Denomination For The Jim Crow Laws
The denomination for the Jim Crow Laws first originated in the mid 1800s from a character in a
Minstrel Show. The Minstrel Show was one of the first forms of American regalement ever
engendered and took place in 1843. The exhibition was performed by successors of African
American musical composition and dance routine actors. The first Minstrel Showwas in Virginia
and commenced by a group of four men from Virginia who all painted their faces ebony and
performed a minute musical composition and dance skit in a minute theater in Incipient York City.
Thomas Dartmouth Rice, a white actor, performed the Jim Crow Minstrel Show. Rice s inspiration
emanated from an older ebony man whom would sing and dance in Louisville, Kentucky. Rice s
skit ended in the same chorus as the old ebony mans musical composition which went like this
Wheel about and turn about and do jis so, Eb ry time I wheel about I jump Jim Crow. . In 1832 Rice
s musical composition and dance routine took him through Louisville to Cincinnati the through
Pittsburgh and Philadelphia then conclusively to Incipient York City. Determinately, Rice
performed throughout Europe as well as London and Dublin. He had a sizably voluminous
following with the Irish community.
They were remotely any slaves on the south, so a plethora of African Americans would pergrinate
to the cities in the South. In some cities African Americans and white people lived together without

The End Of The Second World War Essay
After the end of the Second World War Canada was not a major power but enjoyed international
recognition and influence on international issues. Due to this position, it was classified as a middle
power whose influence could be leveraged in solving international disputes (Paris, 1997). The
approach adopted by the country was that of liberal internationalism which promotes the use of
multilateralism, diplomacy and peaceful methods in solving conflicts. Its traditional values in
foreign policy are neutrality and mediation. The country has also been instrumental in peacekeeping
missions and committed to multilateral organizations (Potter, 1996). However, since the
establishment of the Harper regime, there has been a considerable change in the country s foreign
policy. These changes include a more active participation in the war against terror, its alignment
with the western ideologies especially regarding the Middle East and its reduced involvement in
multilateralism (Boucher, 2009).
A middle power in international relations is a sovereign state that is neither a superpower nor a
great power but nevertheless enjoys international recognition and has influence on international
issues. The concept of middle powers arises from the division of the world into classes according
to their military and economic capabilities. This division provides a state s relative power in
international relations and includes division into great power, major power, middle power and
minor power

MINI CASE 2: Will the United Kingdom Join the Euro Club?
When the euro was introduced in January 1999, the United Kingdom was conspicuously absent
from the list of European countries adopting the common currency. Although the previous Labor
government led by Prime Minister Tony Blair appeared to be receptive to the idea joining the euro
club, the current Tory government is clearly not in favor of adopting the euro and thus giving up
monetary sovereignty of the country. The public opinion is also divided on the issue.
Whether the United Kingdom will eventually join the euro club is a matter of considerable
importance for the future of European Union as well as that of the United Kingdom. The joining of

Besides, UK can attract many investor s from others because it has a plenty of advantages such
as abundant productive workforce, independence of the monetary and flexibility in labor
market. Price transparency is also a potential benefits for UK. There is a severe competition
between local firms about their price of goods. And it s absolutely a positive advantage for
costumers in choosing goods with a reasonable price. Some companies can minimize their
production costs with a cheaper price of their materials. Furthermore, UK can improve the
inflation performance. In UK, CPI is allowed to increase up to 3% but in Euro, its targeted
inflation is close, but not more than 2%. The last but not least, it is rising importance of Euro.
Nowadays, Euro currency plays an important role in international trade. And it can be able to
replace dollar one day in period of globalization. Because there are more and more other potential
members participate in Euro club. Thus, this ensures that the Euro s economy is much larger than
US one. The instability of dollar and rising national debt in US also affect to dollar currency.
About costs of adopting euro, initially UK has to face to the sensitivity of changes in interest rates.
Because house ownership in UK is the highest in Euro club, any changes in interest rates can
rapidly impact their economy. Secondly, adopting euro is constraint the

Wall-E versus Feed on Society
Technological progress has merely provided us with more efficient means for going backwards (
Brainy Quotes 1). While this epitomizes modern time, it also represents M.T. Anderson s Feed
and Pixar s Wall E. Feed is a book about a dystopian society influenced by a device, called feed ,
implanted in the brains of the citizens. The author describes a group of regular teenagers that
venture to the moonfor a spring break vacation of partying and going in mal . The main character,
Titus, falls for a girl named Violet who is not like the other stereotypical teens in this book.
Violet received the feed when she was much older and she is homeschooled so her brain is more
developed. Together, they go on outrageous adventures until a hacker at a dance club causes
them to lose their feeds. Unfortunately for Violet, repairing her feed was practically impossible;
meaning, Violet was slowly dying. Together, Titus and Violet question society, feed, and the way
of life as they create their journey in the book, Feed. In Pixar s Wall E, the world has been
abandoned by all of humanity because of the over polluted atmosphere. However, one creature still
exists on earth, a garbage collecting robot named Wall E. One day, a futuristic, well developed
robot arrives on earth inspecting the earth of any species of life. Wall E falls in love with the
robot, Eve, and when she returns home on her spaceship, he hops on and catches a ride to space.

Cathero s Place Analysis
Music has been integrated in our lives more than before. In an era where portable music players
and cellphones give people access to thousands of songs anywhere they go, music has easily
become a soundtrack to our life. In our current era, children by the age of five will have listened
to more music than Mozart was exposed to his entire life. This past winter I had the privilege of
visiting Theo s Place, a children s home in Fond Doux Haiti. Before leaving the United States, I
had been told that there would be a language barrier. As much as I tried to imagine what that
would be like, I failed. I grew up with the privilege of Spanish speaking parents, and so Spanish
became my first language. On my first day of 1st grade, I was introduced to... Show more content

The Consequences Of Betrayal In The Adventures Of Ulysses
Betrayal Betrayal is the action of deception against one s country, group, or a person. This action
is both noted in novels and in the real world. The novel The Adventures of Ulysses by Bernard
Evslin describes a scene in which two men betray Ulysses by opening a bag of winds. In the real
world, a mannamed Edward Snowden betrays his country by revealing classified information he
was entrusted with. The two situations of betrayal are justified and not justified throughout the
texts they are mentioned in. In the novel, The Adventures of Ulysses, Ulysses was guarding a bag
of winds given to him by Aeolus. He stood awake day and night protecting the bag from the
wondering minds of his crew, but when his eyes gave out, two men took... Show more content on

Thus, the two men should have thought a bit more before opening the sack and delaying their
arrival to their home. Overall, even though I understand the reason the two men did their action
for, I don t accept that the men were justified for betraying Ulysses. The two men knew Ulysses
was an equitable man and he had proven many times that he was trustworthy. Two articles from
NewsEla give information about Edward Snowden and how he revealed how the American
democracy is disappearing like our privacy. He exposed the NSA by informing the population that
they were collecting Americans phone records. Nevertheless, even though he is going to face the
consequences of his actions, he had a justified reason for doing what he did. First of all, it was
revealed that the information collected by the NSA was used against citizens who were
participating in low key protests. Secondly, the government ignored terrorist information and
focused on the information of the innocent. In an article by Mark Weisbrot for NewsEla it states,
However there is a mountain of evidence that this massive data gathering is, in fact, being used
against citizens who are involved in activities that are protected by our Constitution....As a result,
they seem to have ignored the intelligence that was literally handed to them about the terrorists who
bombed the Boston Marathon in April. This indicates that the government has been eavesdropping

King Leopoldto Imperialism
During late 1880s, King Leopold the II of Belgium began the colonization of the then largely
unexplored Congo Basin. The main characteristics of colonialism can be examined by discussing
Belgian expansionism through King Leopold s Congo. It is not the main events or the most
influential world leaders at this period in history that I wish to consider. Rather, analyzing the
nature of Belgian colonialismthrough the colonization of the Congo. In particular, I will focus on
three main issues: (1) the political motives; (2) the cultural values; and (3) economic upheaval.
From the beginning of his rule of Belgiumin 1831, King Leopold I had a desire to gain power and
prestige, as well as compete with other countries. After an unsuccessful search... Show more content

In addition to a desire to compete with other countries during the land grab, King Leopold also
had a desire to make money and expand foreign trade. During this time Europeans wanted to
acquire raw materials and cheap labor, both of which Africa supplied. Leopold was now faced
with financial issues he had secured much of the land through excessive spending, but in order to
take advantage of the trade opportunities he had to find more funding. In order to secure funds for
the continuation of his colonization, King Leopold approached the Belgian Parliament. He
promised Parliament that if they gave him a loan, he would leave the Congo to the government in
his will. Leopold managed to get the loan the basis of his philanthropic work. This enabled him to
take advantage of the trade within the Congo. Belgium now had the monopoly on the rubber trade,
but it came with a price. The human toll that the rubber industry had on the Congo devastated the
population. Despite the economic benefits that the Congo had for the country of Belgium
specifically Leopold, it was short lived. Eventually, the rest of the world would slowly become
aware of the atrocities of Leopold s Congo. The economic upheaval that the events of the Congo
caused within Belgium and the rest of the countries involved (as international involvement was

Allegory In Pleasantville
The story Pleasantville is an allegory set in a stereo typical 1950 s White America. Main Street
loops back to Elm street, every couple sleeps in separate beds. The idea is that the
want to maintain a 1950 s lifestyle holds back the progression into the liberation of 1960. Without
an understanding of the progression of time children can not develop into capable adults.
Pleasantville uses the mother, father, and mayor to represent that the 1950 s euphoria that people
fondly pursue is not only dangerous, but oppressive. This superficially simpler time was in fact full
of complexities that made it impossible to grow into a well rounded, functioning adults.
The father character is quite possibly the most pattern reliant character in this entire ... Show more

He fears change, and why shouldn t he? His life is great. Based on his reaction to the lack of a
home cooked meal, we can assume that he has a wife that does as he says and lives in a happy
home , so why would he want that to change? By painting the mayor as a child who fears change
the author is attempting to show the way of becoming an opresser and dangers of being one. It s
animal to pursue happiness at any cost. As animals we are willing to kill to be happy much less
subject others to opression; it s the nature of children to take without considering others. The
beauty of this lies in the fact that humans can mature past these natural impulses. A key part of
maturing is understanding the progression of time, understanding things are rarely ever what
they used to be. The mayor suffers from an inability to comprehend these facts about life. This
isn t just an ignorable issue, during the end of the trial it becomes clear that change catches up
with him, and when it does he is filled with fear, because he was never made to come to terms
with the passage of time; having your world view destroyed is a painful process, thankfully
genuine adults have built their world view around this concept. The mayors responce symbolized
the responce of millions during the rise of the 1960 s and death of the 1950 s culture. The 1950 s

Hong Kong Will Be Introduced As Asia s World City
Abstract: For this journal, Hong Kong will be introduced as Asia s world city. Lecture notes and
readings from class will be provided to back this characterization and fundamentally shape an
analysis, particularly one aimed to make on the recent political and cultural events in Hong Kong.
Evidently the circulating effects of globalization and economic policy have rendered islands of
Hong Kong into major tourist attractions. For instance, Cause Bay and Wan Chai are two colorful
districts that offer thrilling nightclubs and stupendous ethnic restaurants. Other locations nearby
like Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok draw people to its many exhibits of Chinese culture and specialty
shops. Unfortunately, I have not yet experienced these places but I am convinced after gaining
some experience walking in New York s Chinatown, why Hong Kong no longer lives up to it s
meaning: Fragrant Harbor. Also, it was coincidental finding unappetizing comments left by Tourists
on travel websites. They all dismissed the city s reputation of possessing perfumed sights and
sounds with the scents of opium spices and incense to be historical or mythological. Instead, these
tourists who clearly were disappointed enough to share their experiences online, reported smelling
overbearing stenches of dead fish and rotten cabbage, similarly to what I encountered in
Chinatown, New York. Despite some scents of the city were not as pleasant as what travel agents
boasted to their clients, the historical facts of

I could hear her weeping from the other side of the door now. My mother s loud crying was only

there sat a couple of magazines advertising the new happenings within the lives of people I did
not care about. Next to that was one of those children s play toys with colorful metal pathways

When would India finally get their freedom back? The british had affected the Indians in many
negative ways, politically, economically, and socially. They had killed more than 1.8 billion
people. The British had many rules that the Indians had to follow and if they didn t then there was
going to be consequences. Politically speaking the Indians have no say in anything because of what
the British had in mind for what they were wanting to do. The indians had went with having no
power, and not having control over their own taxation.. In document 1 (Mohandas Gandhi on

Evaluation of Research Into Eyewitness Testimony Essay
Evaluation of Research Into Eyewitness Testimony
Eyewitness testimony investigates the accuracy of memory following a crime or an incident worth
interrogating and the types of errors made in such situations. Sometimes eyewitness testimony can
be unreliable, which can lead to horrific consequences in a court of law for example, hence many
Psychologists have studied and theorized why this happens.
One leading researcher on Eyewitness testimony is Elizabeth Loftus and her colleagues, in 1975,
participants were shown an event by film of a car crash, the participants were split into 2 groups

One point which lowers the credibility of Loftus s studies is that they were are artificially created,
none of them were real, also the importance of the events would have not been the same, as the
participants knew that they were not effecting someone life (by sending them to jail etc). The
participants were not actually there, they don t get to feel the emotion or the atmosphere were can
effect recall. However the study is supported by another Loftus and Loftus (1980) found that recall
was no more accurate when the participants were offered money, however some people are more or
less motivated by money.
Loftus also theorized that with the introduction of the misleading information the original
information is deleted and replaced by the new false memory. However this has been questioned by
other studies such as Berkian and Bowers (1983), performed a very similar experiment except that
when it came the reconstructive phase asked the questions in chronological order, (where Loftus
was completely random), they found that the mislead group recall almost the same correct amount
of info as the control group. This showed that the original memory had not actually been lost. But
unfortunately no other studies have been successful in achieving the same result,

The Sun Also Rises Robert Cohn Analysis
Robert Cohn s interaction with Brett and the expatriates, bullfighting and gender conventions, leads
to a moral destruction of his character and mimics the timeline of the Lost Generation and its
encounter with traditions. The Sun Also Rises is introduced by the narrative of Cohn s life; his
history at Princeton includes anti Semitism and a middleweight boxing championship title. He
excelled at athletics to counteract the persecution he faced as a Jew, becoming a symbol of
traditional masculinity. Robert s use of masculinity as a shield relates to the way the Lost

Cohn is initially nauseated by the graphic sport, but then later pretends to be disinterested in it, in
order to seem tougher. Bullfighting in The Sun Also Rises represents passion and sexuality, and a
freedom of expression and individualism. So, Cohn s rejection of this shows the disconnect of the
Lost Generation and these values. The bullfights also inspire the rebirth of masculinity in Cohn,
and the need for gender role fulfillment. Before, Cohn was extremely passive in confrontations, and
never used his boxing skills. For example, when Frances was berating him after their relationship
ended, Cohn was unresponsive and just absorbed her comments. But, after the bull show, Cohn s
amplified masculinity leads to a display of intense violence. Cohn is still obsessed with Brett and
demands the other to tell him where she is. When they don t he fights Mike, knocks out Jakes, and
almost kills Romero. Cohn s attacks are his attempt to control masculinity, but it only results in a
damaged relationship with his expatriate friends. Cohn and his morals are destroyed when his
outdated romanticism interacts with the modern times through his relationship with Brett. This also
symbolizes the rift between the Lost Generation and the masculine conventions of the time. Cohn
almost killed Romero, but he had a supernatural resistance to the beatings of the 20th century
traditions. Romero, the matador, is another symbol

Similarities And Differences Between Dinosaurs,...
For years, many discoveries and assumptions have been made about dinosaurs. All around the
world, new dinosaur fossils are found and paleontologist continued to be baffled and amazed at the
traits these creatures possessed. Naturally, researchers ask questions about the newly discovered
fossils. Was this dinosauraquatic? Is it a herbivore or a carnivore? Did it take care of its young?
There are many theories based on the appearance of fossils and what they can tell us by studying
the modern day animals. Basically, it all comes down to what can the physical traits of these
dinosaurs tell us about its behavior? In my research, I analyze articles about the different traits that
three of the carnivorous dinosaurs; Giganotosaurus, Spinosaurus, and T Rex possessed that made
them seem like the top hunters of their time period. I researched how each of their unique attributes
could have affected their behavior and how that could have played a role in their environment.
Although, Spinosaurus, T Rex and Giganotosarus have been known as the apex predators of their
time period, their behavior is mostly assumed by what their traits tell us.
Spinosaurus s behavior is assumed to be that of a semi aquatic predator. According to the article
The riddle of Spinosaurus aegyptiacus dorsal sail , it possessed traits similar to other aquatic

Summary Of Powhatan Genocide
Disease and Genocide
All through American history, diverse sorts of warfare from different landmasses have settled in
this country. By the seventeenth century, the measure of English pioneers had expanded hugely,
while the Indian pilgrims who were Indian boss, Powhatan, had diminished from 14,000 to 600.
More than 95 percent of Powhatan s pioneers was eliminated because of the diminishing in
populace of the Indian pilgrims. The creator of this section clarifies how, because of the differing
qualities, the measure of tribes and pioneers that got away and were annihilated was high and it had
a negative effect on them.

The Darden Restaurant is a multi brand restaurant operator. They have over 1,800 restaurants that
include Olive Garden, Red Lobster, and LongHorn Steakhouse. The chains make more than $7
billion a year in revenues making Darden Restaurants the largest full service operation in the US.
This is due in part to the success from targeting different customers through distinct restaurant
formats. Darden has created a successful marketingmix based on the 4Ps. In terms of price, there is
much variety depending on the type of restaurant. For a casual restaurant it is generally between
$15 to $20 a plate and the fine dining is about $30 to $40 a plate. The pricing is fairly priced for

The Psychographic segmentation is based on social class, lifestyle, or personality characteristics.
This type of segmentation can be viewed as the stylistic restaurant Olive Garden. The marketing
strategy behind this restaurant is based upon how customers are as interested in emotional
nourishment as they are in physical nourishment. The style of the restaurant invites a consumer to
be part of the Italian family. The concept of the restaurant relates to the lifestyles desired by the
customer to be part of a family. Lastly, behavioral segmentation is when a market is divided into
segments based on consumer knowledge or attitude toward a product. For Darden, a behavioral

where a profitable business market should be located.
Another concept that relates to Darden s style of marketing is how they differentiate and position

for attention, and there are many aspects of this film that lead to this conclusion.
First, Vada seems to be suffering from Illness AnxietyDisorder because throughout the beginning
of the movie, she is consumed with the notion that she absolutely has a biological illness. A
person with Illness Anxiety Disorder is often convinced, or at least always worried, that she or
he is showing symptoms of a significant illness. In actually, there is obviously nothing wrong
with the individual, but the notion can cause distress in that person s life, or even impair her or
him from living productively. Vada is a healthy young girl who has no logical reason to worry
about disease. Still, she stays preoccupied with various somatic problems she feels can cause her
to die if not treated immediately. Some of the illnesses she claims she has include hemorrhoids,
prostate cancer, and breast cancer. Vada also believes she has had a chicken bone lodged in her
throat for three years and that she was born jaundiced. Her

Martin Luther King Influence
Martin Luther King Influence and Power
In the great country of America; America is who it is today because of the men and woman who
were great leaders that were able to influence people. Martin Luther King Jr. is one of those great
leaders that has changed America for the better because he had a dream. He was a black baptist
minister who was a spokesperson against segregation and led peaceful protests. In the 2014 movie
Selma, the film shows how Mr. King led the 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches and
the events leading up to it. Mr. King was a remarkable leader because he could motivate people to
join him in the protest against segregation and influence America to change.

Mr. King spoke at the church in Selma to inspire the people to not stand back and not do
anything anymore. In his speeches he used inspirational appeal, which is when a leader spur
emotions in the follower s sense of justice or loyalty to the organization. In Mr. Kings first speech
in Selma he brings up how the 4 girls were unjustly murdered in their own church and that only
2% of the black population in Selma had the right to vote. He said, those that have gone on before
us say no more, that means protest, that means march, that means disturb the peace, that means jail
and that is hard . By the end of his speech the congregation was on their feet applauding and
chanting give us the vote. Because Mr. King used inspirational appeal and brought up the injustice
that was happening the people were willing to protest and march. If Mr. King started off with that
they were going to march and protect for first the people wouldn t have reacted the same way.
Mr. King was very well liked and respected by the black community because he was protesting
against segregation. Because he was so well known everywhere Mr. King went and he showed
referent power because the people wanted to meet him and shake his hand. Referent power is
when followers want to be like or closely associated with the leader. The followers want to

This allows the heart to beat slower and more efficiently to keep blood pressure under

Another activity that takes up time is eating. Growing up, children are taught to eat three square
meals a day. That s breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A study done by the United States Department of
Agriculture found that on an average day between 2006 08, Americans age 15 or older spend 67
minutes just eating and drinking. They also found that Americans spend 86.5 minutes eating while
multi tasking. That means that the majority of the times that people spend eating, they are
distracted by other things and not focused on what they eat. Becoming hearth healthy also
requires a diet that is high in fiber and antioxidants. Foods that are quick to eat on the go such as
candy bars or potato chips are the exact opposite of what should be eaten. These foods can be
detrimental to heart health. Foods that are high in sugar, sodium, trans fats, and ultimately calories
are the absolute worst choices to make. However, these foods are the easiest and cheapest to get on

Evaluation Of A Project On Training Curriculum Development
I. INTRODUCTION
This capstone project literature review intends among others things, to refine the research ideas,
demonstrate awareness of the current state of knowledge on training curriculum development, its
limitations and how the research fits in the context of a learning organization.
This research process makes a good starting point for the capstone project. The research uses
evidence from conceptual theories to database research literature from several learning
organizations training development methodologies. Booth, W. C., Colomb, G. G., Williams, J. M.

A system is an interconnected set of elements that is coherently organized in a way that achieves
something. If you look at the definition closely for a minute, you can see that a system must consist
of three kinds of things: elements, interconnections and a function or purpose. (Meadows. D, 2009).
Others have come up with similar definitions of systems, including: Senge (2012) suggested that
the discipline of systems thinking is useful for seeing and understanding wholes, interrelations and
change patterns. Second is roundtable theory which is a shared leadership theory for school
change. Gabriele (2002) explained that involving stakeholders in the decision making process
through shared leadership can lead to higher levels of commitment. Lastly Argyris and Schon
(1978) argued that organizational learning was critical to an organization s survival. They argued
that Double Loop learning was the most effective way of making informed decisions about the way
we design and carry out the action in achieving organization learning.

Asthma Analysis
Asthma is a heterogeneous disorder characterized by acute episodic exacerbations against a
background of chronic persistent inflammation associated with structural changes that may produce
persistent symptoms and impaired pulmonary function (Martinez, 2011).
Asthma severity and asthma control are different terms but related pathogenesis. Asthmaseverity
describes the underlying disease process in absence of concurrent treatment to determine the initial
step of therapy. Asthma control describes the clinical status of disease in response to interventions.
However, the individual parameters which determine asthma severity and asthma control overlap
significantly (Yawn et al, 2006).
Assessment of asthma control has become a key element in asthma management. Asthma control is
assessed from two domains: symptom control and risk factors. Pulmonary function is an important
measure of asthma control and future risk and can be used as a monitoring tool in children.
According to the level of asthma control, patients are categorized into well controlled, partly ...

Airway inflammation and tissue injury with subsequent abnormal repair may lead to structural
changes in the airway of asthmatic subjects that defined as airway remodeling. Airway remodeling
contributes to irreversible airflow obstruction and airway hyperresponsiveness, and it has been
associated with increased disease severity and impaired pulmonary function. [5] Reversal of

Political strife has been always present on an international scale with surges of civil war due to

soldiers reverted back to their only way of living, which was in the brain washed state of
constant warfare. Even when medically checked over, the Gulu Regional Referral Hospital

them off as mentally deranged, which would further isolate the once child soldiers from society
and cause them to deal with the repercussions of PTSD, depression, anxiety, etc. alone. This is
why the United States should set up rehabilitation centers, allowing the large percentage of child
soldiers to find solace and return to normalcy, preventing from slipping back into the travesties of
war and to not pose a threat to society. Furthermore, the lack of proper rehabilitation or care
programs post war will also reflect the state of the nations. After the catastrophes of war have
subsided, the affected areas are left in not only physical ruin, but also mental and emotional ruin.

Lymph Nodes Number Of Postoperative Total Mesorectal...
Lymph node number in postoperative total mesorectal excision specimen
Abdrabou N Mashhour
Cairo University, Faculty of medicine, General surgery department
Abstract:
Background: proper rectal cancer staging is a vital step in management and prognosis of the disease
depending on the tumour, nodal state and distant metastasis (TNM). Sufficient number of lymph
nodes detected in postoperative TME specimen is a corner stone in staging. Lymph node number
detected should not be less than 12 lymph nodes.
Material and methods: 37 Egyptian patients diagnosed with rectal carcinoma were included in this
retrospective study. 28 patients received neoadjuvant chemoradiation therapy while the remaining 9
cases did not. Total mesorectal excision was done by the same colorectal surgeon. The specimens of
TME were examined to retrieve the lymph nodes. Results: lymph nodes harvested in the
neoadjuvant group, maximum number was 23, minimum number was 1 while the median was 7. In
the group which did not receive neoadjuvant therapy the maximum number was 34, minimum
number was 11 while the median was 11. The P value was statistical significant less than 0.000.
Conclusion: lymph nodes number detected in TME specimen post neoadjuvant rectal cancer
decreased markedly so it is not the standard number of LN (12). A new staging system should be
developed for the prognosis.
Key words: Rectal carcinoma, neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy, lymph nodes and total mesorectal
excision.

The Theory Of Weapon Focus
Part A The experiment is based off the theory of Weapon Focus by Loftus, Loftus, and Messo
(1987) and states that the control group (seeing no weapon) would perform better than the
experimental group (seeing a weapon) on a quiz that tested the participants on the surroundings of
the PowerPoint slides. This is because the weapon is a dangerous and unusual object in a calm and
conventional setting so people pay more attention to it. The background study performed by Loftus,

participants on a 20 multiple choice miscellaneous questionnaire of which 7 questions pertained to

My null hypothesis is that the control group will not perform better than the experimental group
and operationalized by using the analytical Mann Whitney U test. My prediction is that the control
group will perform better than the experimental group because they do not see the weapon in the
slides. Therefore, they will spend more time looking at the surroundings. The experimental group
will be focused more on the weapon because it is out of place with its surroundings. Therefore,
they will spend less time looking at the surroundings and more time looking at the weapon. This is
supported by Loftus, Loftus, and Messo (1987) in Weapon Focus that the experimental group will
spend more time looking at the weapon and so their eyewitness testimony is not reliable and they
will not be able to remember the surroundings.
Section B The independent variable was the woman holding the knife or not holding the knife. The
dependent variable was the participants ability to recall the surroundings pertaining the woman s
appearance and clothes. This was operationalized by having participants look at PowerPoint slides
and then taking a test. The aim was to test weapon focus. The experiment was a clinical single
blind. Participants were asked to sign a consent form (APPENDIX A).

Fiasco Finish Descriptive Writing
The Fiasco Finish As I struggled to continue running on that August afternoon just four months
ago, the blinding rays of sunlight shone down upon me. The skin piercing rays of sunlight,
along with the high heat and humidity, overpowered anyone that dared to take a step outside.
My face glistening with sweat was proof of that. I once again automatically raised my right foot

Unfortunately, few markers or signs pointed the way. Consequently, I, along with the rest of the

where to go. My completely royal blue uniform glistened with sweat, and my breath cackled as I

Essay about Evidence for Evolution
Evolution and Diversity

Evolution and DiversityThe foundation for the theory of evolution was laid by Charles Darwin
(Rose, n.d.). He developed hypotheses about natural selection which helped scientists develop the
theory. Evolution is a theory and not a hypothesis because evolution has been proven by vast
amounts of scientific data, research, and testing. The definition of a hypothesis is an educated
explanation that needs to be researched and tested but has not yet been proven (Earman, 1984).
There has been no scientific evidence to disprove the theory of evolution. The fossil record is
evidence of evolution. Fossils are often fingerprints of evolution. They help scientists track how

Many die before they are born or hatched depending on species, while many others don t survive
infancy and ultimately into their reproductive years. A portion of those that reach reproductive age
will never reproduce due to sterility or other factors. This is a part of the natural selection process. It
is often referred to as the, survival of the fittest (Frederic, 2011). It is hard to truly estimate what
fraction of offspring will survive to reproduction. There are always obstacles to survival for an
organism. Climate, food, habitat, and illness are just a few factors which affect natural selection.
Ultimately we know that some traits can increase survival rates for individuals such as their
color. We know from Darwin s research that a certain beak length was favorable in finches but
that was also dependent on yearly weather (Petren, 2005). Offspring that possess favorable traits
are more capable of surviving into adulthood and thus reproducing. We know from genetics that
there is an increased likelihood that their offspring would also possess that desirable trait. The
population of individuals possessing the trait would increase as more individuals possessing the
trait survived to reproductive years, and fewer without the trait did not. Natural selection can help
prevent a species from going extinct if they were to face adverse conditions that

On The Grey Tree Mondrian
Mondrian was born in 1872, and died in 1944. Throughout his career, he made sure to create
many geometric artworks. He came from a neat, Calvinist country where the severe landscape of
interlocking canals and ruler straight roads often looked mechanically laid out (145). He was a

This painting was created in 1912, and was called The Grey Tree. If he was alive right now, and

nothing like what he named it, so maybe he would have biased it off a different picture to get more

This painting was created in 1912, and it was named The Flowering Apple Tree. In this painting,
he probably used what he thought an apple tree that was flowering looked like if created
geometrically. He probably would not have changed this painting if he was alive today, even
though it doesn t look like an apple tree. However, there is a possibility that he would have found
a way to make it look more like an apple tree rather than what it looks like.

to everyone. Because that is how he thought of this painting, he wouldn t have changed what it
looked like today. Unless there was something else that gave him the inspiration, because then it
could look like something totally different. However, it depends on how he got the inspiration, or if
there was some reason he thought of this exact

Compare And Contrast Smith And The Economist
In reviewing both articles in detail, there are clearly a multitude of differences between them. As
such, the one that stood above all others, was the level of in depth analysis. When it comes to the
scholarly article (Evan Smith ,published in Journal for cultural research, 2013), there was a long
in depth quantification of the entire topic, he mentions the social aspects of riot psychology, also
how simple protests can turn into full blown riots and even including social media and how it
made things worst (via Blackberry cell phones). As compared to, The Economist media article
(May 2, 2015, writer anonymous), which gives the general feeling that the writer is attempting to
sum up events, in a timely and very concise way. This can be seen by the fact that no more than a
paragraph was spent on a single subject of the piece. By doing this they attempt to keep the... Show

This topic has personal resonance with me and is something that will always be up for debate,
while definitely being something to keep a look out for in the future. During Smiths article, he
goes into great detail to look at things from both perspectives, never taking a side, always
remaining unbiased. While reading Smiths article it was fascinating that even though, as a
species, humans have evolved a higher level of consciousness, we still in moments of anger,
lash out unjustly, even against our own so called communities. The media article also touches
on how we may never fully comprehend or justify, how looting and destroying stores and
buildings, both you and your family have spent your whole life visiting, is a way of rebelling
against those who have aggrieved you. The media article also touches on how social media can
cause a larger backlash. As seen through social media and it s groups, which can be formed
without ever seeing or even knowing a person

A Comparison between Madame Bovary and The Awakening Essay
Similarities Between Madame Bovary and The Awakening
Centuries ago, in France, Gustave Flaubert wrote Madame Bovary. In 1899, Kate Chopin wrote
The Awakening. The years cannot separate the books, and the definite similarities that the two
show. Madame Bovary is the story of a woman who is not content with her life, and searches for
ways to get away from the torture she lives everyday. The Awakening
, much like Bovary, features a
woman who is unhappy with her life, and wishes to find new adventures. The two books bear very
strong similarities to each other, and the plots are almost exactly the same, though there are some
subtle differences.
Set in two old cities in France, Emma Bovary, the main character in the first ... Show more content

She describes herself as walking through life in a half stupor, not totally aware, not totally alive.
She finds a man, who Awakens the urges that are hidden in the deep recesses of each person s
being, recessed deep inside them. The present alone was significant; was hers, to torture her as it
was doing then with the biting conviction that she had been denied that which her impassioned,

to find the lives they think are eluding them.
The women seem to wander through a sort of haze, looking for something. The something that they
both find happens to be a man. Emma stumbles upon her first man in a tavern. He is one of the
first things she comes upon in her new town. They have dinner together, and immediately, the two
form a bond. Unfortunately depending on the standpoint you take the relationship did not work out.
Emma was not yet brazen enough, and Leon, the young gentleman with whom she was
dumbstruck for, did not wish to advance it because she was married. This situation is matched
almost exactly when Edna meets her first fling as it were. The circumstances though, are slightly
different. Emma knows all her life that she wants a romantic sort of life. Edna does not know what
she wants, only that she is bored. Until her awakening she just trips through life with no goal.
Robert, her first man, is much like Leon, in that he does not wish to advance

Essay about Integrative Problem-Exchange Rate Behavior
Assignment:Integrative Problem Exchange Rate Behavior
Data: Beginning of year
Spot rate of ВЈ = $1.596
Spot rate of Australian dollar (A$) = $.70 Cross exchange rate: ВЈ1=A$2.28 One year forward rate

Question 1
Determining whether triangular arbitrage is feasible and, if so how it should be conducted to make
a profit.
Background: Triangular arbitrage is used to capitalize on a discrepancy that might exist in the
exchange rates between two currencies whose transactions are conducted in the spot market. i)

To illustrate the feasibility of covered interest arbitrage we assume we have an amount of US
$500,000 to invest.
Investing in a domestic bank deposit at 8% interest ($500,000 x 1.08) would yield $540,000.
Covered interest arbitrage using the British bank: i) Day 1 we convert the $500,000 to pounds
using the current spot rate of the pound, i.e. $1.596
$500,000 Г· 1.596 = ВЈ313,283.21 ii) Sell the ВЈ313,283.21 one year forward using the one year
British interest rate of 9.09%: (313,283.21 x 1.0909) = ВЈ 341,760.65 . This is the amount to be
received on maturity including interest. iii) In one year when the deposit matures we fulfill the
forward contract obligation by converting the ВЈ341,760.65 to US$ based on the forward contract
rate of the pound $1.58004: (341,760.65 x 1.58004) = $539,995.50
Covered interest arbitrage is not feasible in this case as investing in a domestic bank deposit is
slightly more beneficial.
Covered interest arbitrage using the Australian bank: i) Day 1 we convert the$500,000 to A$ using
the current spot rate of the A$ i.e. $.70
$500,000Г·0.70 = A$714,285.71 ii) Sell the A$714,285.71 one year forward using the one year
Australian interest rate of 7%: (A$714,285.71 x 1.07) = A$ 764,285.71. This is the maturity amount
including interest. iii) In one year when deposit matures fulfill the forward contract obligation by

The Archetype Of Metamorphosis In Tim Burton s Big Fish
In Tim Burton s Big Fish , there is a recurring archetype of metamorphosis. It demonstrates
transitions from innocence to experience, from the Iron Age to the Golden Age; and from season
to season. Each shift plays a big part in the overall development of the film, as well as adding to
several characters dimensions. The shift from innocence to experience is demonstrated throughout
William s personal growth surrounding his father s stories. His perspective on them shifts
dramatically as he searches for their truths. In the beginning, he innocently assumes that they are
nothing but lies. As his search continues, and his experience grows, he discovered that there is a
basis of truth in every story. This is significant as it changes his perspective on his father. For years,
he had foolishly believed that there was absolutely no truth, to the point where it caused tension
between them. The change in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his stories, everything that seemed bad or evil at the time, lead to something good. His path
through the dark woods nearly killed him, yet brought him to Spector, a town of great influence.
This represents winter turning into spring. Similarly, his time at the circus did the same. It
seemed as though he would never learn Sandra s name, only small insignificant facts. However,
the small facts he did learnt eventually helped him win her over in the end. These changes were
what allowed Edward to be so successful in all his endeavours. His life as a whole also went
through all the seasons. His happy childhood represented spring. His adulthood became summer, as
all his accomplishments were realised. Autumn started after his fight with William, and finally
winter came with his death. The change in season through his life gave Edward a full life. These
shifts shaped who he was, and consequently affect those around him. The seasons represented, for
Edward, hope. They assured him that light would eventually

Describe how your organisation obtains the co operation of its employees through the contract of

Employee Co operation
Contracts of employment
An employment contract is a written legal document that lays out binding terms and conditions of
employment between an employee and an employer. The employers in ZARA need to makw sure
that their employees are aware of what rights and responsibilities they have as workers in ZARA.

This has an advantage and as well as a disadvantage for the employees as they might have less work
to do compared to the other employees but they might not know when they are getting their next

Disciplinary procedures
Disciplinary procedures are a set way for an employer to deal with disciplinary issues. They should
include a disciplinary hearing where you re given a chance to explain your side of the story.

This is a problem that could occur between the employee and employer, it is a complaint that they
could have against each other for something that either of them has done wrong.
Union Membership

in the firm as they can talk about issues between each other. An example is when there is a problem
with the staffs pay amount of even the working conditions.
Codes of behavior

Companies might use these techniques in order to get the staff more involved in decisions being
made for the organization. This may also motivate the staff as they would feel they are also part of
the firm and not just ordinary staff working there.

Reaction Paper On Deviance
Throughout the semester deviance has been our primary focus of the class, I actually have gotten
into the habit of determining things that I do whether they fall under the spectrum of deviant
behavior. Certain behaviors correlate with certain theories that have been enmeshed into
categories. Since many theories can be grouped together to explain certain behaviors I actually
have a few that I am going to be talking about today. But the main form of deviance that I will be
focusing on today is rape. Emotional numbness, Anxiety, loss of confidence and constant
flashbacks are just an array of things that these young girls will have to deal with for the rest of
their lives.
Rape is something that continues to happen not only in the United States, but in every country,
and is continuing to ruin many people s lives. Also there are myths that women and young girls
are the main victims when it comes to rape cases, although there may be many cases that are
directed mainly towards women , men and young boys are also victims. I believe that because it
is more common for women to get raped it s easier in a way to report it as to where if it were a
male, he may not want to report it because he would feel demasculinized, and embarrassed. But
what if you lived in a country where rape is considered normal amongst the villagers because
young girls , simply had it coming to them because for some reason they looked at a man or said
thank you to them. Obviously she was flirting with him and

Hiram Miller—a Essay
Yizhou Xu Section 002 Case: Hiram Miller A
I, the general manager of Hiram Miller Chicago branch, am considering we should have something
done with our current warehouse on Jefferson Street. The basic problem is that the 60 year old
warehouse is not capable for our daily business from many aspects any more as we move into the
21st century. Due to many limitations, the shortcomings to run that warehouse are overwhelming
the advantages it remains. Small size, inefficient layout, obsolete facilities, low tech equipments and
bad working environment are dragging our company down within such an intense competition ...

The quality of the warehouse and the equipments can be improved if we whitewash the warehouse
and replace some old machines with the news. The working environment will be polished up and
make the work more efficient, meanwhile, will not change the basic operating structure. For
example, good condition elevators can eliminate the battle between the shipping and receiving
departments. The second choice is finding a third party warehouse which meets our basic
requirements. We can utilize third party to manage the warehouse and reach our goal as well.
Finally, we can build a new warehouse near the O Hare Airport where has ample of land so that
we can construct a warehouse fully meets our requirements. For our long term benefits, I
strongly suggest to build a new warehouse near the airport. Renovation is a short term solution
and just keeps our business work normally and I cannot believe how long that old fashion
building would maintain. The core problems are the weak floor and the low ceilings which
cannot be restructured. Those will constrain heavy equipment to move in. The work needs to be
done by hand which means slow and more workers. On another hand, if we rent a warehouse
rather than own by ourselves, we will lose the control of the warehouse even though it solves our
problems. Thus, the effective communication and the specialized service may be the problems.
Despite of sacrificing the advantages of inner city location like vicinity of our

I have compared their stats, the number of rings they have and, a few other things that they have
completed in their NBA career. If you think about and, look into it, Lebron James may be the
better player. Lebron has won more rings, earned more money, and has more popularity than
Kevin Durant. You also have to look at Kevin Durant stats as where he is right now. If you look
into it, Kevin Durant is on his way to a great NBA player, possibly Hall Of Fame, after he retires,
which will be a while along the road. Lebron James career will be greatly remembered from the
beginning to the end, which will be soon, because he has done so much for every team he has
played for, which has only been two teams. Kevin Durant has also done very much for the two
teams he has been on, but he has not done it like Lebron James, because Lebron has won a ring

The Dangers Of Public Smoking
Public smoking is being allowed to smoke in places that involve the community. Some places
have smoking bans because of the problems it can cause. I think people should not be able to
smoke in public places because it affects other people s health, it pollutes the earth, it could have a
bad influence on people, and it has an unpleasant smell.
Cigarettes does not only affect the person smoking, it can affect the people around them also.
Cigarettes contain a lot of chemicals that are harmful to humans: Phenolic compounds are toxic to
humans when consumed; for example, ingesting 1 g of phenol has been reported to be lethal and
causes muscle weakness and tremors, paralysis, loss of coordination, convulsions and coma
(Pistonesi et al . 2006). People should be able to go places without having to ingest something that
can be harmful to them. Some people may already have health problems such as asthma and the
smoke can be very dangerous for them to intake cigarette smoke. It could also affect an unborn
baby. For example, if a pregnant woman works at a place that allows smoking and inhales cigarette
smoke constantly, it could be harmful to her baby and cause permanent damage. A study conducted
in Ahmedabad, India to compare secondhand smoke in public place before and after a smoking ban
concluded that, SHS exposure was significantly reduced overall in public places after enactment of
the smoke free legislation (Jingyan et al. 31). This shows that people were exposed to

  • 3. The Denomination For The Jim Crow Laws The denomination for the Jim Crow Laws first originated in the mid 1800s from a character in a Minstrel Show. The Minstrel Show was one of the first forms of American regalement ever engendered and took place in 1843. The exhibition was performed by successors of African American musical composition and dance routine actors. The first Minstrel Showwas in Virginia and commenced by a group of four men from Virginia who all painted their faces ebony and performed a minute musical composition and dance skit in a minute theater in Incipient York City. Thomas Dartmouth Rice, a white actor, performed the Jim Crow Minstrel Show. Rice s inspiration emanated from an older ebony man whom would sing and dance in Louisville, Kentucky. Rice s skit ended in the same chorus as the old ebony mans musical composition which went like this Wheel about and turn about and do jis so, Eb ry time I wheel about I jump Jim Crow. . In 1832 Rice s musical composition and dance routine took him through Louisville to Cincinnati the through Pittsburgh and Philadelphia then conclusively to Incipient York City. Determinately, Rice performed throughout Europe as well as London and Dublin. He had a sizably voluminous following with the Irish community. They were remotely any slaves on the south, so a plethora of African Americans would pergrinate to the cities in the South. In some cities African Americans and white people lived together without a quandary so segregation was not visually perceived ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The End Of The Second World War Essay After the end of the Second World War Canada was not a major power but enjoyed international recognition and influence on international issues. Due to this position, it was classified as a middle power whose influence could be leveraged in solving international disputes (Paris, 1997). The approach adopted by the country was that of liberal internationalism which promotes the use of multilateralism, diplomacy and peaceful methods in solving conflicts. Its traditional values in foreign policy are neutrality and mediation. The country has also been instrumental in peacekeeping missions and committed to multilateral organizations (Potter, 1996). However, since the establishment of the Harper regime, there has been a considerable change in the country s foreign policy. These changes include a more active participation in the war against terror, its alignment with the western ideologies especially regarding the Middle East and its reduced involvement in multilateralism (Boucher, 2009). A middle power in international relations is a sovereign state that is neither a superpower nor a great power but nevertheless enjoys international recognition and has influence on international issues. The concept of middle powers arises from the division of the world into classes according to their military and economic capabilities. This division provides a state s relative power in international relations and includes division into great power, major power, middle power and minor power ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the euro was introduced in January 1999, the United Kingdom was conspicuously absent from the list of European countries adopting the common currency. Although the previous Labor government led by Prime Minister Tony Blair appeared to be receptive to the idea joining the euro club, the current Tory government is clearly not in favor of adopting the euro and thus giving up monetary sovereignty of the country. The public opinion is also divided on the issue. Whether the United Kingdom will eventually join the euro club is a matter of considerable importance for the future of European Union as well as that of the United Kingdom. Besides, UK can attract many investor s from others because it has a plenty of advantages such as abundant productive workforce, independence of the monetary and flexibility in labor market. Price transparency is also a potential benefits for UK. There is a severe competition between local firms about their price of goods. And it s absolutely a positive advantage for costumers in choosing goods with a reasonable price. Some companies can minimize their production costs with a cheaper price of their materials. Furthermore, UK can improve the inflation performance. In UK, CPI is allowed to increase up to 3% but in Euro, its targeted inflation is close, but not more than 2%. The last but not least, it is rising importance of Euro. Nowadays, Euro currency plays an important role in international trade. And it can be able to replace dollar one day in period of globalization. Because there are more and more other potential members participate in Euro club. Thus, this ensures that the Euro s economy is much larger than US one. The instability of dollar and rising national debt in US also affect to dollar currency. About costs of adopting euro, initially UK has to face to the sensitivity of changes in interest rates. • 6. Wall-E versus Feed on Society Technological progress has merely provided us with more efficient means for going backwards ( Brainy Quotes 1). While this epitomizes modern time, it also represents M.T. Anderson s Feed and Pixar s Wall E. Feed is a book about a dystopian society influenced by a device, called feed , implanted in the brains of the citizens. The author describes a group of regular teenagers that venture to the moonfor a spring break vacation of partying and going in mal . The main character, Titus, falls for a girl named Violet who is not like the other stereotypical teens in this book. Violet received the feed when she was much older and she is homeschooled so her brain is more developed. Together, they go on outrageous adventures until a hacker at a dance club causes them to lose their feeds. Unfortunately for Violet, repairing her feed was practically impossible; meaning, Violet was slowly dying. Together, Titus and Violet question society, feed, and the way of life as they create their journey in the book, Feed. In Pixar s Wall E, the world has been abandoned by all of humanity because of the over polluted atmosphere. However, one creature still exists on earth, a garbage collecting robot named Wall E. One day, a futuristic, well developed robot arrives on earth inspecting the earth of any species of life. • 7. Cathero s Place Analysis Music has been integrated in our lives more than before. In an era where portable music players and cellphones give people access to thousands of songs anywhere they go, music has easily become a soundtrack to our life. In our current era, children by the age of five will have listened to more music than Mozart was exposed to his entire life. This past winter I had the privilege of visiting Theo s Place, a children s home in Fond Doux Haiti. Before leaving the United States, I had been told that there would be a language barrier. • 8. The Consequences Of Betrayal In The Adventures Of Ulysses Betrayal Betrayal is the action of deception against one s country, group, or a person. This action is both noted in novels and in the real world. The novel The Adventures of Ulysses by Bernard Evslin describes a scene in which two men betray Ulysses by opening a bag of winds. In the real world, a mannamed Edward Snowden betrays his country by revealing classified information he was entrusted with. The two situations of betrayal are justified and not justified throughout the texts they are mentioned in. Thus, the two men should have thought a bit more before opening the sack and delaying their arrival to their home. Overall, even though I understand the reason the two men did their action for, I don t accept that the men were justified for betraying Ulysses. The two men knew Ulysses was an equitable man and he had proven many times that he was trustworthy. Two articles from NewsEla give information about Edward Snowden and how he revealed how the American democracy is disappearing like our privacy. He exposed the NSA by informing the population that they were collecting Americans phone records. Nevertheless, even though he is going to face the consequences of his actions, he had a justified reason for doing what he did. First of all, it was revealed that the information collected by the NSA was used against citizens who were participating in low key protests. Secondly, the government ignored terrorist information and focused on the information of the innocent. In an article by Mark Weisbrot for NewsEla it states, However there is a mountain of evidence that this massive data gathering is, in fact, being used against citizens who are involved in activities that are protected by our Constitution....As a result, they seem to have ignored the intelligence that was literally handed to them about the terrorists who bombed the Boston Marathon in April. The main characteristics of colonialism can be examined by discussing Belgian expansionism through King Leopold s Congo. It is not the main events or the most influential world leaders at this period in history that I wish to consider. Rather, analyzing the nature of Belgian colonialismthrough the colonization of the Congo. In particular, I will focus on three main issues: (1) the political motives; (2) the cultural values; and (3) economic upheaval. From the beginning of his rule of Belgiumin 1831, King Leopold I had a desire to gain power and prestige, as well as compete with other countries. After an unsuccessful search... During this time Europeans wanted to acquire raw materials and cheap labor, both of which Africa supplied. Leopold was now faced with financial issues he had secured much of the land through excessive spending, but in order to take advantage of the trade opportunities he had to find more funding. In order to secure funds for the continuation of his colonization, King Leopold approached the Belgian Parliament. He promised Parliament that if they gave him a loan, he would leave the Congo to the government in his will. Leopold managed to get the loan the basis of his philanthropic work. This enabled him to take advantage of the trade within the Congo. Belgium now had the monopoly on the rubber trade, but it came with a price. The human toll that the rubber industry had on the Congo devastated the population. Despite the economic benefits that the Congo had for the country of Belgium specifically Leopold, it was short lived. Eventually, the rest of the world would slowly become aware of the atrocities of Leopold s Congo. • 10. Allegory In Pleasantville The story Pleasantville is an allegory set in a stereo typical 1950 s White America. Main Street loops back to Elm street, every couple sleeps in separate beds. The idea is that the want to maintain a 1950 s lifestyle holds back the progression into the liberation of 1960. Without an understanding of the progression of time children can not develop into capable adults. Pleasantville uses the mother, father, and mayor to represent that the 1950 s euphoria that people fondly pursue is not only dangerous, but oppressive. This superficially simpler time was in fact full of complexities that made it impossible to grow into a well rounded, functioning adults. Based on his reaction to the lack of a home cooked meal, we can assume that he has a wife that does as he says and lives in a happy home , so why would he want that to change? By painting the mayor as a child who fears change the author is attempting to show the way of becoming an opresser and dangers of being one. It s animal to pursue happiness at any cost. As animals we are willing to kill to be happy much less subject others to opression; it s the nature of children to take without considering others. The beauty of this lies in the fact that humans can mature past these natural impulses. A key part of maturing is understanding the progression of time, understanding things are rarely ever what they used to be. The mayor suffers from an inability to comprehend these facts about life. This isn t just an ignorable issue, during the end of the trial it becomes clear that change catches up with him, and when it does he is filled with fear, because he was never made to come to terms with the passage of time; having your world view destroyed is a painful process, thankfully genuine adults have built their world view around this concept. Lecture notes and readings from class will be provided to back this characterization and fundamentally shape an analysis, particularly one aimed to make on the recent political and cultural events in Hong Kong. Evidently the circulating effects of globalization and economic policy have rendered islands of Hong Kong into major tourist attractions. For instance, Cause Bay and Wan Chai are two colorful districts that offer thrilling nightclubs and stupendous ethnic restaurants. Other locations nearby like Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok draw people to its many exhibits of Chinese culture and specialty shops. Unfortunately, I have not yet experienced these places but I am convinced after gaining some experience walking in New York s Chinatown, why Hong Kong no longer lives up to it s meaning: Fragrant Harbor. Also, it was coincidental finding unappetizing comments left by Tourists on travel websites. They all dismissed the city s reputation of possessing perfumed sights and sounds with the scents of opium spices and incense to be historical or mythological. Instead, these tourists who clearly were disappointed enough to share their experiences online, reported smelling overbearing stenches of dead fish and rotten cabbage, similarly to what I encountered in Chinatown, New York. Evaluation of Research Into Eyewitness Testimony Essay Evaluation of Research Into Eyewitness Testimony Eyewitness testimony investigates the accuracy of memory following a crime or an incident worth interrogating and the types of errors made in such situations. Sometimes eyewitness testimony can be unreliable, which can lead to horrific consequences in a court of law for example, hence many Psychologists have studied and theorized why this happens. One leading researcher on Eyewitness testimony is Elizabeth Loftus and her colleagues, in 1975, participants were shown an event by film of a car crash, the participants were split into 2 groups and ask questions on what they had just seen, Group 1 were asked questions that were consistent with the ... However the study is supported by another Loftus and Loftus (1980) found that recall was no more accurate when the participants were offered money, however some people are more or less motivated by money. Loftus also theorized that with the introduction of the misleading information the original information is deleted and replaced by the new false memory. However this has been questioned by other studies such as Berkian and Bowers (1983), performed a very similar experiment except that when it came the reconstructive phase asked the questions in chronological order, (where Loftus was completely random), they found that the mislead group recall almost the same correct amount of info as the control group. The Sun Also Rises Robert Cohn Analysis Robert Cohn s interaction with Brett and the expatriates, bullfighting and gender conventions, leads to a moral destruction of his character and mimics the timeline of the Lost Generation and its encounter with traditions. The Sun Also Rises is introduced by the narrative of Cohn s life; his history at Princeton includes anti Semitism and a middleweight boxing championship title. He excelled at athletics to counteract the persecution he faced as a Jew, becoming a symbol of traditional masculinity. Cohn is initially nauseated by the graphic sport, but then later pretends to be disinterested in it, in order to seem tougher. Bullfighting in The Sun Also Rises represents passion and sexuality, and a freedom of expression and individualism. So, Cohn s rejection of this shows the disconnect of the Lost Generation and these values. The bullfights also inspire the rebirth of masculinity in Cohn, and the need for gender role fulfillment. Before, Cohn was extremely passive in confrontations, and never used his boxing skills. For example, when Frances was berating him after their relationship ended, Cohn was unresponsive and just absorbed her comments. But, after the bull show, Cohn s amplified masculinity leads to a display of intense violence. Cohn is still obsessed with Brett and demands the other to tell him where she is. When they don t he fights Mike, knocks out Jakes, and almost kills Romero. Cohn s attacks are his attempt to control masculinity, but it only results in a damaged relationship with his expatriate friends. Cohn and his morals are destroyed when his outdated romanticism interacts with the modern times through his relationship with Brett. This also symbolizes the rift between the Lost Generation and the masculine conventions of the time. In my research, I analyze articles about the different traits that three of the carnivorous dinosaurs; Giganotosaurus, Spinosaurus, and T Rex possessed that made them seem like the top hunters of their time period. I researched how each of their unique attributes could have affected their behavior and how that could have played a role in their environment. Although, Spinosaurus, T Rex and Giganotosarus have been known as the apex predators of their time period, their behavior is mostly assumed by what their traits tell us. Spinosaurus s behavior is assumed to be that of a semi aquatic predator. According to the article The riddle of Spinosaurus aegyptiacus dorsal sail , it possessed traits similar to other aquatic animal such as . . .its skull s ability to attack or grab prey under water through dorsoventral excursions, or its bone density, resembling the degree of ... By the seventeenth century, the measure of English pioneers had expanded hugely, while the Indian pilgrims who were Indian boss, Powhatan, had diminished from 14,000 to 600. More than 95 percent of Powhatan s pioneers was eliminated because of the diminishing in populace of the Indian pilgrims. The creator of this section clarifies how, because of the differing qualities, the measure of tribes and pioneers that got away and were annihilated was high and it had a negative effect on them. However, she does not possess this psychological abnormality. As portrayed in the film, Vada exhibits thoughts and behaviors that are not typical of an eleven year old girl. At first glance, she may seem mentally sick to the viewer. Upon further examination however, it is clear to see that is not the case. The odd behaviors modeled by this young child are actually a cry for attention, and there are many aspects of this film that lead to this conclusion. First, Vada seems to be suffering from Illness AnxietyDisorder because throughout the beginning of the movie, she is consumed with the notion that she absolutely has a biological illness. A person with Illness Anxiety Disorder is often convinced, or at least always worried, that she or he is showing symptoms of a significant illness. In actually, there is obviously nothing wrong with the individual, but the notion can cause distress in that person s life, or even impair her or him from living productively. Vada is a healthy young girl who has no logical reason to worry about disease. Still, she stays preoccupied with various somatic problems she feels can cause her to die if not treated immediately. Some of the illnesses she claims she has include hemorrhoids, prostate cancer, and breast cancer. Vada also believes she has had a chicken bone lodged in her throat for three years and that she was born jaundiced. Her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A system is an interconnected set of elements that is coherently organized in a way that achieves something. If you look at the definition closely for a minute, you can see that a system must consist of three kinds of things: elements, interconnections and a function or purpose. (Meadows. D, 2009). Others have come up with similar definitions of systems, including: Senge (2012) suggested that the discipline of systems thinking is useful for seeing and understanding wholes, interrelations and change patterns. Second is roundtable theory which is a shared leadership theory for school change. Gabriele (2002) explained that involving stakeholders in the decision making process through shared leadership can lead to higher levels of commitment. Lastly Argyris and Schon (1978) argued that organizational learning was critical to an organization s survival. • 39. Essay about Evidence for Evolution Evolution and Diversity
Evolution and DiversityThe foundation for the theory of evolution was laid by Charles Darwin (Rose, n.d.). He developed hypotheses about natural selection which helped scientists develop the theory. Evolution is a theory and not a hypothesis because evolution has been proven by vast amounts of scientific data, research, and testing. The definition of a hypothesis is an educated explanation that needs to be researched and tested but has not yet been proven (Earman, 1984). There has been no scientific evidence to disprove the theory of evolution. The fossil record is evidence of evolution. Fossils are often fingerprints of evolution. They help scientists track how species evolved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many die before they are born or hatched depending on species, while many others don t survive infancy and ultimately into their reproductive years. A portion of those that reach reproductive age will never reproduce due to sterility or other factors. This is a part of the natural selection process. It is often referred to as the, survival of the fittest (Frederic, 2011). It is hard to truly estimate what fraction of offspring will survive to reproduction. There are always obstacles to survival for an organism. Climate, food, habitat, and illness are just a few factors which affect natural selection. Ultimately we know that some traits can increase survival rates for individuals such as their color. We know from Darwin s research that a certain beak length was favorable in finches but that was also dependent on yearly weather (Petren, 2005). Offspring that possess favorable traits are more capable of surviving into adulthood and thus reproducing. We know from genetics that there is an increased likelihood that their offspring would also possess that desirable trait. The population of individuals possessing the trait would increase as more individuals possessing the trait survived to reproductive years, and fewer without the trait did not. Natural selection can help prevent a species from going extinct if they were to face adverse conditions that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this painting, he probably used what he thought an apple tree that was flowering looked like if created geometrically. He probably would not have changed this painting if he was alive today, even though it doesn t look like an apple tree. However, there is a possibility that he would have found a way to make it look more like an apple tree rather than what it looks like. This painting was created in 1944, the year that Piet Mondrian died. It was called the Victory Boogie Woogie. In this painting, it was likely something he imagined and wanted to make it visible to everyone. Because that is how he thought of this painting, he wouldn t have changed what it looked like today. As such, the one that stood above all others, was the level of in depth analysis. When it comes to the scholarly article (Evan Smith ,published in Journal for cultural research, 2013), there was a long in depth quantification of the entire topic, he mentions the social aspects of riot psychology, also how simple protests can turn into full blown riots and even including social media and how it made things worst (via Blackberry cell phones).
