Measurement And Measurement Of Measurement
Measurement Measurement is a number that shows the size or amount of something and usually
the number is reference to a standard measurement, such as kilogram. There are many things that
can be measured, including; length, area, volume, weight, mass, altitude, temperature and time.
Charles (2005) featured measurement is his big idea number 8 which states that measurements can
be approximated using known referents as the unit in the measurement process . This idea of
estimation means that a large number of objects can be approximated by calculating a sub section
and multiplying this by the number of subsections. This is demonstrated in my Topic 6 Thinking
Time Problem called the joined hands problem where I had to calculate the length covered if all
the people in the unit, university, Australia and the world stood with their arms linked (appendix 6).
To answer this I took the average person s arm span and multiplied it by the number of people;
rather than actually measuring all the people which would be extremely impractical. Thus, I
approximated the measurement using a known referent.
I showcased my knowledge of the
measurement mathematics area when answering question 5 of the Year 9 NAPLAN 2012
Numeracy Test for assessment 2 (appendix 14). This question involved writing out the scale used in
the diagram as a ratio, simplifying it and then converting it into a written statement. At first I could
not remember the method involved when converting scale and I could not

Analysis Of The West In My Antonia
The Frontier
(An analysis of the west) My Antonia is a novel about the frontier. It is set in the early 1900 s
and is about what happened during this time. Nebraska is the state My Antonia is set in, but most
of the novel goes for a lot of the states in the west. According to Kathleen Norris, Cather had the
great good fortune to have lived among the first generation of white settlers in 1880s Nebraska, and
she gives witness to their time and place in such a way that American literature will never forget
them (Norris). This quote helps the reader see that the author, Willa Cather, had a reliable point of
view when she was writing this story because it was a lot of the stuff that she went through and
saw. As a result of this many believed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The environment is very important to do with the way people lived. The environment includes
the weather they had their and the condition of the soil. They considered the area a vast treeless
wasteland (Settlers). This quote shows that it didn t have many trees which made the weather
worse because there were no trees to stop the blizzards and storms. The book has a great
example of this, All day the storm went on. The snow did not fall this time, it simply spilled out
of heaven, like thousands of featherbeds being emptied. This shows that it doesn t just fall it
pours out, almost like a rain storm. Many saved up their food for the winter, so they didn t have
to go outside as much. They still had to take care of their fields and such, but they mostly stayed
inside. In anyone s life their environment is vital to how they turn out in life and how they act
around others. Although it can t decide for he or she, it can lead to a certain way of living. The
environment in the west leads most of the people that live there to be hard workers and they are
also not as affectionate

South Beaches Research Paper
South Beach is the epitome of the Miami experience. No one seems to ever sleep as though there
is a party happening every day. The beaches are the most beautiful thing you ever want to see. The
night lights make nighttime seem like a second day. The buildings are absolutely unidentical to
each other as though they have their own personality. People come from all over the world uniting
their different cultures and experiences in one place.
Miami s beaches are priceless. The transparent and deep tones of blue seem to interact with each
other like childhood best friends. The sun dances with rays of gleaming light across the surface of
the ocean like a ballerina full of grace. Roaring yet humbling sounds of the ocean are constant
reminders that there s a power beyond the skies greater than I. There s nothing in comparison to the
intangible value of Miami s beaches. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

King Lear Evil Vs Evil
Second, there is nothing wrong with being a villain if society mistreats the evil character.
Although society should be against evilness, a villain may justifiably perform evil acts if he is
not treated fairly by society. King Lear, a play that involves the theme of man versus nature, is a
perfect example of this. Edmund, one of the main evil characters in the play, must overcome the
social ridicule that comes with being a bastard. In the beginning of the play, Edmund should not
be blamed for how evil he acts since society refuses to respect his dignity. It seems that since
Edmund has no one with whom he can reveal his evil deeds, he likes to express his feelings and
plans out to the audience. As Cindy Erdin explains:

In fact, some acts seem impossible to reenact in real life because it makes the audience think
about if some villains are really life like to them. In any case, exploring the villains purpose and
development throughout stories are important as they assist the audience in understanding why
evil characters deserve to be where they end up. For this reason, villains can still have the right
motives to perform evil acts as long as they are not too observed in themselves. In specific, the
villains can only act evil towards the characters that have done something unjustifiably against
them. However, in most cases, if villains are taking their evil out on characters that never wronged
them, then they prove why evil characters never triumph in the end. In Othello and King Lear, Iago
and Edmund were fascinating characters to dissect because they are both evil in their own way.
With Iago, the audience can see that he is the greatest manipulator of mankind and he enjoys
interacting with them. Moreover, Iago is able to entertain the audience with his practical jokes but
in the end, he gets carried away with his hatred on innocent women and causes a bloodbath. On the
other hand, Edmund had a much serious conflict to deal with as he is fighting for his social rights
when it comes to being a bastard. Although he

Effects Of Carpentry
Carpentry and the effects on the Environment The carpentry business presents a very harmful
affect to our environment and the people that work in the wood industry. The killing of trees is
damaging the oxygen our earth needs and also limits resources that can be acquired by people. The
earth is already in an inadequate state with pollution and not taking proper care of our surroundings.
Also, the woodindustry is very harmful to the people that work and inhale the wood particles and
dust which can have very fatal effects to the lung and air cage in their daily lives. These factors
can be limited if tree cutting were reduced and carpentry workers used less wood, it could also be

It also kills pests and species to clear land. Wood and trees builds our beds and houses, and
makes other important things we use in our daily lives. The effects of tree cutting cause no harm
to the environment and in some ways are beneficial. Wood, hard, tough substance that forms the
trunks of trees, and that has been used for thousands of years as a fuel and as a material of
construction ( Wood ) is a big part of the world as it is used universally for a lot of activities. For
example to build a house you have to use wood, to build a bed you most likely have to use wood,
to build your own chair you most likely have to use wood, and etc. The way people use wood is
starting to place limitations on the environment and the availability of carbon and other resources
important to restore our oxygen. The overall consensus of carpentry and woodworking is what is
leading to the deterioration of the amount of trees that are available on the planet whether it s for
construction or personal projects. The world needs to limit the amount of trees being slain and
take precaution to save the environment. The more trees being the cut the less resources and
available oxygen and CO2 we have, and the risks of workers of wood is a serious issue. Many of

Gothic Horror Research Paper
Horror, what is it, according to literary historian J.A. Cuddon, it is a piece of fiction in prose of
variable length...which shocks or even frightens the reader, or perhaps induces a feeling of
repulsion or loathing. This sets the guidelines for how the generic horror piece is written, as long
as it can scare the reader in one sense or the other, or cause them to loath a certain part or character,
then it can be called horror. The horror today has roots stemming from old folklore and religious
traditions which had elements that dealt with death, the afterlife, and the demonic, along with the
things or thing that embody a person. Horror during the 18th century was called gothic horror and

He had published several other literary works, but these had not brought him fame and a
reputation in the horror scene. With Poe s writing of the poem, The Raven, with its darker
setting and inclusion of death brought him more recognition from the general public as well as
fitting into the gothic horror type of writing. The Masque of the Red Death, which is another of
Poe s short stories, had direct inspiration from Walpole s novel, The Castle of Otranto, with its
setting and ending to the plot. The Masque of the Red Death is set in an abbey owned by the
main character, Prince Prospero, here all of the wealthy and powerful people go so that the Red
Death can t get to them. There are seven rooms which are all different colors, the last one being
painted black with a scarlet light lighting up the room, giving the room a sense of being covered
in blood, and in the corner a frighteningly white ebony clock. Very few people went into the room
due to the room being decorated in black and illuminated by a scarlet light, a deep blood color ,
because of this combination these people were not brave enough to step into that room. Later in
the story a figure comes in and wreaks havoc, Prince ended up chasing this figure only to find out
that this figure is the Red Death itself, and when everyone comes to see who it is they end up

Master Schedule Essay
At first glance, developing a master schedule that meets all of the demands facing a school today
seems daunting. There are so many critical pieces of best practices teaching and administrating that
need to be addressed and not enough hours in the day to accommodate the demands, or so it
appears at first perusal. After careful examination and prioritization, savvy school leaders can and
do make successful decisions regarding time allotment, as is witnesses in most high achieving
school across our country. When student outcomes are the primary focus that drives the school
culture and calendar, it would be difficult to not succeed at this most important task. The master
schedule must include time for instruction (core academics and supplemental course work),
intervention and/or enrichment, collaboration, assessment, staff meetings, and planning. It is not
enough to just expect teachers to use their time wisely a strong leader must wisely allot time and
make sure that all students receive the instruction that they each deserve. Collaboration and PLC
teams must operate and intertwine with one another seamlessly. Grade level teams and
specialized teams need the time to interact with each other. Teams need to be fluid, and members
must have the time to serve on other PLC groups as needed for stude nt growth. Core academics
need to flow with specials and electives classes, and all teacher need access to the expertise that
can come from an MTSS or special educationteam.

Reading Note On Reading Comprehension
Reading Fluency: Refers to the ability to decode words accurately, effortlessly, using correct
volume, phrasing and appropriate intonation at a reasonably rapid rate. There are three main
components of fluency including speed, accuracy and prosody, which is using expression when
reading. Since the reader is readingautomatically he is able to focus on the comprehension of text.
Fluency refers to the ability to maintain accurate readingof connected text at a conversational rate
with appropriate prosody. The reader is not easily distracted and reads in an effortless flowing
manner.
Automaticity: Refers to the ability to read words automatically with little cognitive effort. Slow
word recognition distracts the reader from building comprehension of the text. If reading is
automatic, reading comprehension is possible although not guaranteed. Students with language
delays frequently have automatic word recognition but have difficulty with comprehension.
Reading Rate: Reading rate is the fluent identification of individual words and the speed and
fluidity that a reader moves through connected text. It is usually calculated by either the number of
words read correctly per minute or the length of time it takes for a reader to complete a passage.
Prosody: is a linguistic term that refers to the rhythm and tonal aspects of speech; the musicality of
language. It includes variations in intonation, syllable prominence, and duration. Applying prosody

LITERATURE REVIEW
What is brand personality?
As defined by Aaker (1997), brand personality refers to the set of human characteristics
associated with a brand. Aaker assumes that the brands are the same with the human personality
or character, and the brand personality is created when a consumer attached his or her
personality like character to a specific brand. According to Hawkins, et al (2001), brand personality
can be considered as what type of person the brand would be if it were human and what it would do
and like .

Brand as a person/symbolic use
As suggested by Aaker (1997), brand personality is created in the perspective of brand as a person.
It has the same concept with Hawkins, Best, and Coney (2001) where they assume that the brand to
be a human and every human has his own personality.

Boeing Dreamline Case Study Report
Boeing Dreamline Case Study Report
By Jiajun Chen
INTRODUCTION
On April 26, 2004, as Airbus surpassed its market share for the first time in the history, Boeing
announced its plans to develop the Dreamliner 787 (initially known as Boeing 7E7). These plans
were meant to recapture its leading position in the commercial aircraft market. With this aircraft,
Boeing used a different approach for development. This report introduces the market position of the
787, addresses its new development strategy and its possible outcomes, and provides
recommendations to the project regarding challenges and the competitors Boeing faces.
Market Position The Boeing 787 is positioned within the market with a high likelihood of
success. As crude oil prices have risen over the past few years and likely to remain high in the
future, the 787 can reduce the airline s operation cost by consuming 20% less fuel than other
airplanes of comparable size. On top of the non corroding composite fuselages, sensors were
embed into the main structure to capture real time data on plane s structure. With both features,
the airlines benefit from reduced maintenance cost and increased airplane life span. The Boeing
787 also has a larger cargo capacity to allow for additional space, providing additional revenue
from potential customers. Because of the booming cargo market, adding additional cargo space
was a necessity for more of a stable revenue stream. Besides the airline companies, more financiers
and leasing

Nationalism And Its Impact On National Identity
Nationalism can be defined in two dimensions. First, the feeling of having a sense of national
identity. This national identity is often confronted with a dilemma as to how to draw the boundaries
of what creates a nation. This pre requisite often comes in the form of either similarities in origin,
ethnicity, culture and willingness to partake in the membership of a nation. This is contrasted with
the concept of states as states such as the Native American Iroqouis, whom although are a nation
have no presiding political autonomy over themselves.
Second, nationalism is defined as active conscious decisions made by members of a nation when
aiming to maintain their national sovereignty and independence. The key focus in this definition is
sovereignty, and its prerequisites (needing absolute control over internal and external decisions,
otherwise known as full statehood or quasi statehood) is sufficient. Hence, geographic dominance
over a nation s territorial parameters has been seen as a necessary feature to achieving full
statehood , which inevitably results in nationalistic prerequisites being fulfilled for sovereignty
nationalism. This is contrasted with the first definition of nationalism, based on the notion of
culture and values versus geography. History has itself shown many examples of socially cohesive
nations as well as socially conflicting nations. This leads to the formation of the debate as to
whether nationalism is a source of social cohesion or of

Rubiks Cube
How many of you have ever tried to solve this? I wouldn t be wrong if I say all of you, once in your
lives have tried to solve it, and I do know that you all tried to answer questions you didn t know.
What if I said the secret of the future is in a Rubiks Cube? Since the beginning of humanity
people ask themselves Where did I came from? , What am I doing where? and Where am I going?
and after all of these years we still did not know, or we only thingwe don`t know. Somethings are
just so complex that we stop trying to achieve when they actually could be easier than you think.
Trying something new or unknown to us is always a difficult task. The oldest and strongest

Not being in control means not being in charge of the outcome of whatever it is inside that box,
and this is why we are so scared about facing the unknown. Now, try to imagine this cube as the
Unknown. You don t know how to solve it, you don`t know how it works, but someway, if you
view it from a different angle, you can find its pattern and give it a meaning. Put it in a box .
When dealing with faceless things, always imagine them as things you already know and try to fit
them in a box you already have. Keep in mind that things usually are much easier than they seem
and giving up should always be the last circumstance. Replace the fear of the unknown with
curiosity. It is part of the process of evolution facing the faceless, and if you don t take risks you
will never find yourself, or find meanings for your life. I am not saying that it is easy, but it is
necessary. Get out of the box and try new things. The unknown is a door for something different,
and maybe if you open it, you will find a whole new world of experiences. The future is the
unknown, and the only secret to achieve it is to take risks and never stop trying.

The Azusa Street Revival By William J. Seymour

HISTORY OF CHRISTIANITY II:
THE REFORMATION AND MODERN CHURCH
HIST 0562
INSTRUCTOR: REV. DR. RON KYDD 13th April 2015
Mail Box # 344
The Azusa Street Revival was a historical Pentecostal revival meeting that occurred in Los
Angeles, California and is the beginning of the Pentecostal movement. It was run by William J.
Seymour, an African American minister. It started with a meeting on April 9, 1906, and proceeded
until about 1915. The revival was portrayed by euphoric spiritual encounters joined by miracles,
speaking in tongues, inter racial socialising during worship services. The members were criticized
by media and theologians for their behaviour as it was considered as outrageous and unorthodox,
particularly at the time. Today, the restoration is considered by historians to be the essential push
for the spread of Pentecostalism in the 20th century. This paper will aim to analyze how history
may have unfolded if it had not happened, it will be examining the event and setting it in context
that how it has impacted the history of Christianity for the reformation and modern Church. It will
analyze how this event impacted the historic Pentecostal movement. Being born and bought up in
Christian Orthodox Church, for a long time I could not understand the real meaning of
Pentecostalism, but things changed dramatically in my life, and so did my theology about Church.

the chapter Cowboys and Indians Part II, Abbey refers to William Blake s Evening Star. Thou

of love; Thy radiant crown Put on, and smile upon our evening bed! Smile on our loves... This
poem was part of Blake s first published work Poetical Sketches. The poems protest against war,...

Desert Solitaire is not a memoir that satisfies the literary taste of the general audience. It is in
fact, at times, a difficult novel to take in, due to the large number of contradictions and the
unconventional themes portrayed in the memoir. By adding works from different genres, he is
able to bring in different aspects that will appeal to a larger audience. Though he only uses
small sections of the different works, it allows a larger audience to comprehend the ideas that
Abbey so desperately desires to portray. In conclusion, Abbey has found a way to use the works
of others to support his views. He could ve just stated his ideas, but he takes the extra step to use
the work of other authors. Why? Personally I believe that the use of other literary works not only
strengthens his argument but also shows Abbey s literary skill. He is able to integrate seemingly
unrelated ideas into evidence for his claims. The use of the different genres allows for connections
between different pieces of works and allows the reader to think more deeply about to the memoir.

Byzantine Empire Dbq Essay
Through the chaos and anarchy from the destruction of Rome emerged a powerful empire. It all
began in 323CE when a young general named Constantine became the Emperor of Rome. He was
quick to make some changes, including moving the imperial capital from Rome to Byzantium, but
he renamed it Constantinople. The Byzantine Empirewas separated from the Roman Empires
collapse so it managed to survive and maintain order in the east. In 1054 the Byzantines split from
the Roman Catholic Church in the west and developed the Eastern Orthodox Church. They
prospered for almost a thousand years, but fell to the Turks in 1453. Byzantine history is often over

Loss Of Innocence In Joyce Carol Oates Life After High School
Guilt, Fear, and Rejection: Loss of Innocence in Life after High School In her short story, Life
After High School, Joyce Carol Oates explores the loss of innocence experienced by the main
characters, Barbara Sunny Burhman and Zachary Graff, through the use of literary devices such as
story structure and characterization. In order to emphasize the loss of innocence in both
characters, Oates divides her story into three distinct parts. She begins by looking back on Zachary
calling at Sunny s window on what she describes as that last night . In the third person narrative,
Oates briefly depicts the circumstances of that night, as well as Barbara s later feelings toward the
event. Oates includes this compressed summary of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the story, Oates increases Zachary s presence in Sunny s life, progressively making
him into an obsessed and disillusioned stalker. His manner changes the most drastically,
however, after being rejected by Sunny and Tobias. Although it is apparent he is attached to
Sunny, it is after his proposal is turned down that he becomes desperate and aggressive and
eventually decides to commit suicide. When isolated, it appears that is the moment where
Zachary loses his innocence, but by including Barbara s conversation with Tobias years later, it
is revealed that this may not be necessarily true. Oates creates a parallel between Tobias and
Zachary s relationship to that of Zachary and Sunny. She also explores Zachary s guilt in being
perverted sinful in his soul... thoughts, deeds, and desires. (Page 577) This calls into question
Zachary s view of his own purity: whether he believed himself debauched because of his
homosexuality. It is possible that he could have become corrupt simply by denying its existence,
and was unvirtuous throughout the story. Through Zachary s aggressively obsessive behavior and
the revelation of his guilt, Oates emphasizes his lack of innocence in the

My Religious Upbringing. I Am A Member Of The Church Of
My Religious Upbringing I am a member of the Church of Christ. It is a non denominational
church that lives by the New Testament in the Holy Bible, and uses the Old Testament as a
source of reference. In simple terms, it s a belief that the new law is in place and the old law has
been put away with Jesus s crucifixion. In the Old Testament, it was a command to sacrifice
something for the forgiveness of sins. Now, with the ultimate sacrifice being given for our sins
(Jesus s Life) we do not have to sacrifice no more. Instead we learn and study God s word and
obey his word. I was born in Germany; my mother was a devout Christian raised in the Church of

While others may not believe the same as I do, I find with the studies of the scripture, I feel I am
going to a church that follows the New Testament to the best of its ability. Just like every human
being everything has its faults, but I still believe we are still going to work the rest of our lives
to try and obtain the perfection that Jesus Christ had. I really started studying the differences in
churches at the age of sixteen, but by the age of twenty I had slacked off and started to drift
away from the church because of the troubles I had brought on myself. This is also the reason I

people interpret organized religion. I have heard organized religion referred to as only
denominational churches and as any church that meets regularly. The contrast between the two
meanings vary deeply. For instance, I am a member of a non denominational church that meets
regularly and to me it is an organized religion. It is a church that has been set up years ago, that
has its boundaries as to where it functions. I believe without my church I would be a lost soul. It

The Summary Of Air France Flight 447
Air France Flight 447 Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Paris, France Incident Summary The following
information is based on the findings of the BEA (Bureau d EnquГЄtes et d Analyses) (2012); On
May 31, 2009, Air France flight 447, an Airbus A330, took off from Rio de Janeiro enroute to
Paris, France. After a normal departure the crew climbed to their cruising altitude of FL350. The
captain was designated as the pilot monitoring (not flying) and the first officer was the pilot flying.
About 3 hours into the flight the crew noticed some weather ahead and began to encounter slight
turbulence. Due to performance limitation on the aircraft the crew was unable to climb above the
weather. The turbulence increased slightly as the flight continued, but less than 10 minutes later
the turbulence stopped. Once clear of the turbulence the captain woke the second first officer to
take his place. The captain stayed while the first officer briefed the second officer, then exited the
cockpit. The first officer (pilot flying) occupied the left seat, while the second officer (pilot
monitoring) occupied the right seat. Shortly there after, the turbulence increased slightly. The first
officer and second officer made the decision to slow from Mach 0.82 to Mach 0.80 and to turn
about 12 degrees left of course. About two minutes later the autopilot and auto thrust disconnected.
As the first officer took the controls the aircraft began to roll right, so he rolled the aircraft to the
left and pitched up.

The Pathogenesis Of Dnase
In addition to producing these enzymes and toxins, S. pyogenes can produce DNase s. DNase s

down, the host cells will lose their ability to produce normal proteins. Each of the virulence
factors above allow the pathogen to harm it s host in one form or another or to subtly evade the

The Black Family In The Age Of Mass Incarceration
In the eyes of many, mass incarceration constitutes a brutal technique of punishing individuals for
excessive periods of time. There are many reasons to be doubtful that the system of mass
incarceration has helped the nation in any form. Rather, locking up millions of people for
nonviolent crimes seems just too excessive and redundant. According to The Black Family in the
Age of Mass Incarceration by Ta Nehisi Coates published in The Atlantic magazine, the majority of
those incarcerated are minorities mainly African American. More clearly, the technique of mass
incarceration is used to limit the numbers of minorities in society or control the minority
population. Regulations regarding incarcerating millions must be reviewed thoroughly on a federal
level and refine precedent to a better future. What major actions must be taken into account to
change the turmoil of mass incarceration? Is it possible to adjust the law in reparation for a better
future? The United States has the highest number of prisoners compared to any country in the

Ultrasonography requires the use of some physics. Physics of Ultrasonography connects with
how the functioning of the ultrasound machine works. When performing an ultrasound, low
intensity, high frequency sonic waves are directed into the soft tissues of the body (Blevins et
al. 1). Many sonic waves will directed right into the soft tissue to produce an image on the
computer screen. William E. Blevins says, The sonic waves called echoes, reflecting from
tissues are heard by the transducer (Blevins et al. 1). This means the sounds of the tissue reflects
back to the transducer and then back to the computer for evaluation. Then, After interacting with
the soft tissues, a portion of the sound is reflected back toward the source of the sound (Blevins
et al. 1). Basically the ultrasound evaluates the sound waves coming from inside of the body of
the soft tissue. The sound waves travel back to the computer to produce an image on the screen.
Finally, These reflections or echoes are analyzed by a computer and a black and white image is

The government has a crucial role to play in establishing the rules of the game by which we judge
business ethics.
When we talk about the government, we know that the government is involved in issuing laws
related to business practices. Business ethics tend to begin where the law ends. This means that the
governments establish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He, as the owner of Italy s 3 major television stations and largest publishing house, has been able
tovirtually dominate the meida and thereby, marginalize any criticism of his government. The
ethics of occupying a dual role in business amp; ethics is somewhat questionable. On one hand,
one could argue that it has certain advantagesif politicians have had the experience of the
business world and vice versa. On the other hand, there are also quite significant ethical problems
linked to the close amalgamation of business and politics. Eg. German ex chancellor Gerhard
Schroeder was criticized for taking up an appointment as Chair of the Germa Russian company, in
charge of the new gas pipeling through the Baltic Sea. This deal was negotiated in th final months
of his term in office. It makes obvious the problems that can arise when we have politcians who
are entitled to set the rules of the economic game also acting as players in the game.

intended to buy an influence on regulation, we refer to it a state capture.
5] Ethical issues in context of privatization amp; deregulation
An issue of extensive debate has been the price at which formerly public companies should be sold

How Did John Hancock Influence The Declaration Of...
John Hancock was a patriot, merchant, and signer of the Declaration of Independence. He was one
of the original instigators of the American Revolution, and he led the Second Continental Congress
to sign the document that declared complete freedom from the British. John Hancock was very
important in establishing the country that stands today, and he encouraged the people of Boston to
see the tyranny of the British. () John Hancock over qualifies for a position in the History Hall of
fame due to his influence in the American Revolution, his role in the Continental Congress, and his
signing of the Declaration of Independence. John Hancock was born on January 12, 1737. He
became an orphan upon the death of his father until his wealthy uncle adopted him and put
Hancock to work. His uncle owned a mercantile firm called Thomas Hancock Company, which
was the leading trade company in Boston, Massachusetts at the time. (John Hancock) John
Hancock s uncle became mortally sick in 1761. In 1764, he took charge of his uncle s firm... Show

Hancock openly expressed his dismay for Britain s treatment of the colonies. He owned a ship,
Liberty that was confiscated by the British customs guards for smuggling goods in. Hancock was
not directly involved with the smuggling, but because he was the owner of the ship, he was
liable for all occurrences. (John Hancock) Soon a large group of citizens formed a mob, stormed
the government boat, beat the officials, and burned the same boat they invaded. (John Hancock
{ushistory.org}) Because of this incident and Hancock s wealth and high social standing, the royal
officials decided to dissolve the case rather than deal with the consequences of a full trial. The
results of this conflict caused John Hancock to support the Boston Tea Party and their motives and
for Hancock to be seen as a martyr and supporter of the Revolution. (John

Application Of Agropolitan Center Development
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Rural development has been discussed extensively in the literature by various writers from different
disciplines. The universal objective of rural development is to improve the quality of life of rural
people. This is facilitated upon a continuous process by government, non governmental
organizations (NGO) and different actors at the (inter) national, state and local levels. Without
doubt, this involves how best to organize rural area resources and potentials (especially human and
economic potentials) so as to achieve an increase in the overall standard of living of the rural
community dwellers. According to Halwart et, al (2003), the idea is to sustain the growth of rural
economies, improve rural community livelihood and to promote food security through the
improvement of food supply, employment and income. This chapter is divided into four parts. Part
one reviews some approaches to the application of agropolitan center strategy in rural physical
planning in selected third world countries. Part two examines the basic theories that relate to the
spatial organization of human settlements by some well known writers such as Friedman,
Christaller and others. Part three relate these theories to the present research and part four looked at
large scale agriculture and rural development in the context of aquaculture.

The History Of Vaccination
The history of vaccination is something that both medical and public health students study as the
basic foundational building blocks of modern western biomedicine. In the late 1700s, a man by
the name of Edward Jenner, an English physician and scientist, inoculated an 8 year old boy with
the pus drawn from the cowpox lesions of a dairy milkmaid (Green, 2015). The hypothesis at the
time was that since milkmaids had a lower incidence of small pox while still having lessor cases of
cowpox that the two were related. Researchers in Germany and England , through extensive testing,
had supported this hypothesis. Jenner though was the first to make widespread use of the
variolation. Further, if the live cowpox virus could be introduced into

Difference Between Modern And Mendeleev Periodic Table
Over so many years the periodic table has changed in many years. In the modern periodic table
the elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic numbers. In mendeleev s periodic table
they were in arranged in order of increasing atomic weight. The difference in the modern and
mendeleev periodic table n 1869, just five years after John Newlands put forward his law of
octaves, a Russian chemist called Dmitri Mendeleev published a periodic table. Mendeleev also
arranged the elements known at the time in order of relative atomic mass, but he did some other
things that made his table much more successful. In the modern periodic there are families and
periods.there are seven horizontal rows of elements called periods. The vertical columns of
elements are called groups, or families. The Matrix. Mendeleev s periodic table presented a new
paradigm, with all of the elements positioned within a logical matrix..
Mendeleev had written the properties of elements on pieces of card and tradition has it that after
organising the cards while playing patience he suddenly realised that by arranging the element
cards in order of increasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes this method of arranging elements meant there were gaps in his horizontal rows or
periods . But instead of seeing this as a problem, Mendeleev thought it simply meant that the
elements which belonged in the gaps had not yet been discovered. He was also able to work out
the atomic mass of the missing elements, and so predict their properties. And when they were
discovered, Mendeleev turned out to be right. For example, he predicted the properties of an
undiscovered element that should fit below aluminium in his table. When this element, called
gallium, was discovered in 1875, its properties were found to be close to Mendeleev s predictions.
Two other predicted elements were later discovered, lending further credit to Mendeleev s

Beliefs of the Nature of the Universe Change with Cultural...
Many people have an opinion about the overall nature of the universe and about the role which
humanity plays in the universe. For example, Why are we here and What will happen to us after
we die ? The majority of us don t know the answers to these questions. Thus, many of us want to
have a religion because it gives us the impression that we are secure in the universe. It also provides
guidance in our life. I presume it s easier to live with some sort of explanation, even if it s
incorrect. When asked, What religiondo you practice ? I reply, I m atheist . I simply lack belief in
deities. However, many people have preconceived ideas about what I am and what I am not. For
instance, I don t believe in God, I loathe Christians; I concur... Show more content on

On the weekends I hang out with my friends, go to the movies, and then prepare for the next day.
Being an atheist can be difficult. It was my choice to become an atheist but I don t have any
desire to sway others to become atheists, it s their choice. One of the things that are difficult for
me is when the topic of religion is discussed. I understand people are entitled to their own
opinions and I don t think someone who believes in a god is wrong. However, I dislike when
stereotype atheist as sinful and wicked people. It s difficult to defend to others without seeming
rude or hostile. Another thing that is difficult for me is when people try to preach their religion to
me. I understand some religions teach that their religion is the only truth, and they want everyone
around them to embrace it. However, it s difficult to tell a person you don t believe in their god
without them getting offended and receiving negative comments.
Being different in any way has its advantages and disadvantages. As an atheist, I am classified as
a minority. After I discussed with my friends that I was an atheist, I started to receive the cold
shoulder . None of my friends will communicate with me anymore and now I m a pariah.
However, I don t regret telling them I m atheist because now I have the great benefit of being true
to myself. I no longer have to pretend and agree with someone s religion that I don t believe in.

Aristophanes Clouds Is A Social Commentary On The Nature...
Aristophanes Clouds is a social commentary on the nature of justice as it pertains to the
philosophic life within the city disguised as a crude theatrical comedy. The protagonist Strepsiades
is overcome by debt due to his son Pheidippides obsession with horsemanship, and Strepsiades
seeks the help of local philosopher Socratesin order to learn the art of deceptive speaking so that
he may trick his creditors and not give anyone back even an obol of those debts (120). Although the
play is filled with vulgar humor on the surface, Aristophanesuses the dialogue to examine the
dangers of the philosophical life and its effect on the city. Through the story of Strepsiades,
Aristophanes leads his audience to the conclusion that the philosophic life and those who partake in
it are a danger to the city because of their blatant disregard for the gods and the traditional customs
of Athens.
At the opening of the play, Strepsiades begins with an invocation to Zeus the King! (2). Upon
arrival to Socrates Thinkery, Strepsiades begs Socrates to teach him how to win both just and
unjust causes by speaking in order to have his debts forgiven without having to pay them back
(98), and swears by the gods that he will pay Socrates (246). However, Socrates informs
Strepsiades that Zeus does not even exist , nor do any other gods (367). Before this, Strepsiades
had acknowledged his fear of Zeus punishment and the thunderbolt that made him fear and tremble ,
but Strepsiades no

Beneatha s Song In A Raisin In The Sun By Lorraine Hansberry
Beneatha s Song
Hardships and trials help to shape, mold, and create characters in stories, this is evident within the
play A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry. Hansberry s assertive character, Beneatha, connects
to the messages from classic Motown songs of the time period such as: inequality, identity, and
respect. These songs sing of some characteristics and problems Beneatha holds.
Through the soulful sound of Nina Simone s song, Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free , a
cry for equality is heard that is similar to the one from Beneatha in A Raisin in the Sun. Hansberry
s play is set in the 1950s and incorporates the social issues prevalent with in the time such as gender
roles which helps to create an underlying theme that Beneatha ... Show more content on

From this snippet of her song she makes known about how she has what it takes to make it in
this world and is worthy of respect so because of this she should receive it. What can also be
inferred from this song is that the audience Franklin is singing out to is not giving it to her
properly. This loud behavior and this plight is seen throughout A Raisin in the Sun as Beneatha
tries to make her family and her love interests understand these messages from Respect .
Throughout this story Beneatha s brother Walter and her fight as she tries to stand up for herself
and her beliefs as seen in the following exchange:
BENEATHA. I have never asked anyone around here to do anything for me!... What do you want
from me, Brother...
WALTER. I don t want nothing but for you to stop acting holy round here...why can t you do
something for the family? ... and thank you, Travis, for wearing the same pair of shoes for two

  • 3. Measurement And Measurement Of Measurement Measurement Measurement is a number that shows the size or amount of something and usually the number is reference to a standard measurement, such as kilogram. There are many things that can be measured, including; length, area, volume, weight, mass, altitude, temperature and time. Charles (2005) featured measurement is his big idea number 8 which states that measurements can be approximated using known referents as the unit in the measurement process . This idea of estimation means that a large number of objects can be approximated by calculating a sub section and multiplying this by the number of subsections. This is demonstrated in my Topic 6 Thinking Time Problem called the joined hands problem where I had to calculate the length covered if all the people in the unit, university, Australia and the world stood with their arms linked (appendix 6). To answer this I took the average person s arm span and multiplied it by the number of people; rather than actually measuring all the people which would be extremely impractical. Thus, I approximated the measurement using a known referent.
I showcased my knowledge of the measurement mathematics area when answering question 5 of the Year 9 NAPLAN 2012 Numeracy Test for assessment 2 (appendix 14). This question involved writing out the scale used in the diagram as a ratio, simplifying it and then converting it into a written statement. Nebraska is the state My Antonia is set in, but most of the novel goes for a lot of the states in the west. According to Kathleen Norris, Cather had the great good fortune to have lived among the first generation of white settlers in 1880s Nebraska, and she gives witness to their time and place in such a way that American literature will never forget them (Norris). This quote helps the reader see that the author, Willa Cather, had a reliable point of view when she was writing this story because it was a lot of the stuff that she went through and saw. The environment includes the weather they had their and the condition of the soil. They considered the area a vast treeless wasteland (Settlers). This quote shows that it didn t have many trees which made the weather worse because there were no trees to stop the blizzards and storms. The book has a great example of this, All day the storm went on. The snow did not fall this time, it simply spilled out of heaven, like thousands of featherbeds being emptied. This shows that it doesn t just fall it pours out, almost like a rain storm. Many saved up their food for the winter, so they didn t have to go outside as much. They still had to take care of their fields and such, but they mostly stayed inside. In anyone s life their environment is vital to how they turn out in life and how they act around others. • 7. King Lear Evil Vs Evil Second, there is nothing wrong with being a villain if society mistreats the evil character. Although society should be against evilness, a villain may justifiably perform evil acts if he is not treated fairly by society. King Lear, a play that involves the theme of man versus nature, is a perfect example of this. Edmund, one of the main evil characters in the play, must overcome the social ridicule that comes with being a bastard. In the beginning of the play, Edmund should not be blamed for how evil he acts since society refuses to respect his dignity. It seems that since Edmund has no one with whom he can reveal his evil deeds, he likes to express his feelings and plans out to the audience. As Cindy Erdin explains: [Villains] use soliloquies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, some acts seem impossible to reenact in real life because it makes the audience think about if some villains are really life like to them. In any case, exploring the villains purpose and development throughout stories are important as they assist the audience in understanding why evil characters deserve to be where they end up. For this reason, villains can still have the right motives to perform evil acts as long as they are not too observed in themselves. In specific, the villains can only act evil towards the characters that have done something unjustifiably against them. However, in most cases, if villains are taking their evil out on characters that never wronged them, then they prove why evil characters never triumph in the end. In Othello and King Lear, Iago and Edmund were fascinating characters to dissect because they are both evil in their own way. With Iago, the audience can see that he is the greatest manipulator of mankind and he enjoys interacting with them. Moreover, Iago is able to entertain the audience with his practical jokes but in the end, he gets carried away with his hatred on innocent women and causes a bloodbath. On the other hand, Edmund had a much serious conflict to deal with as he is fighting for his social rights when it comes to being a bastard. Although he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As defined by Aaker (1997), brand personality refers to the set of human characteristics associated with a brand. Aaker assumes that the brands are the same with the human personality or character, and the brand personality is created when a consumer attached his or her personality like character to a specific brand. According to Hawkins, et al (2001), brand personality can be considered as what type of person the brand would be if it were human and what it would do and like . Boeing Dreamline Case Study Report Boeing Dreamline Case Study Report By Jiajun Chen INTRODUCTION On April 26, 2004, as Airbus surpassed its market share for the first time in the history, Boeing announced its plans to develop the Dreamliner 787 (initially known as Boeing 7E7). These plans were meant to recapture its leading position in the commercial aircraft market. With this aircraft, Boeing used a different approach for development. This report introduces the market position of the 787, addresses its new development strategy and its possible outcomes, and provides recommendations to the project regarding challenges and the competitors Boeing faces. Market Position The Boeing 787 is positioned within the market with a high likelihood of success. As crude oil prices have risen over the past few years and likely to remain high in the future, the 787 can reduce the airline s operation cost by consuming 20% less fuel than other airplanes of comparable size. On top of the non corroding composite fuselages, sensors were embed into the main structure to capture real time data on plane s structure. With both features, the airlines benefit from reduced maintenance cost and increased airplane life span. • 20. Nationalism And Its Impact On National Identity Nationalism can be defined in two dimensions. First, the feeling of having a sense of national identity. This national identity is often confronted with a dilemma as to how to draw the boundaries of what creates a nation. This pre requisite often comes in the form of either similarities in origin, ethnicity, culture and willingness to partake in the membership of a nation. This is contrasted with the concept of states as states such as the Native American Iroqouis, whom although are a nation have no presiding political autonomy over themselves. Second, nationalism is defined as active conscious decisions made by members of a nation when aiming to maintain their national sovereignty and independence. The key focus in this definition is sovereignty, and its prerequisites (needing absolute control over internal and external decisions, otherwise known as full statehood or quasi statehood) is sufficient. Hence, geographic dominance over a nation s territorial parameters has been seen as a necessary feature to achieving full statehood , which inevitably results in nationalistic prerequisites being fulfilled for sovereignty nationalism. This is contrasted with the first definition of nationalism, based on the notion of culture and values versus geography. History has itself shown many examples of socially cohesive nations as well as socially conflicting nations. This leads to the formation of the debate as to whether nationalism is a source of social cohesion or of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

RON KYDD 13th April 2015 Mail Box # 344 The Azusa Street Revival was a historical Pentecostal revival meeting that occurred in Los Angeles, California and is the beginning of the Pentecostal movement. It was run by William J. Seymour, an African American minister. It started with a meeting on April 9, 1906, and proceeded until about 1915. The revival was portrayed by euphoric spiritual encounters joined by miracles, speaking in tongues, inter racial socialising during worship services. The members were criticized by media and theologians for their behaviour as it was considered as outrageous and unorthodox, particularly at the time. Today, the restoration is considered by historians to be the essential push for the spread of Pentecostalism in the 20th century. This paper will aim to analyze how history may have unfolded if it had not happened, it will be examining the event and setting it in context that how it has impacted the history of Christianity for the reformation and modern Church. In conclusion, Abbey has found a way to use the works of others to support his views. He could ve just stated his ideas, but he takes the extra step to use the work of other authors. Why? Personally I believe that the use of other literary works not only strengthens his argument but also shows Abbey s literary skill. He is able to integrate seemingly unrelated ideas into evidence for his claims. It all began in 323CE when a young general named Constantine became the Emperor of Rome. The Byzantine Empirewas separated from the Roman Empires collapse so it managed to survive and maintain order in the east. In 1054 the Byzantines split from the Roman Catholic Church in the west and developed the Eastern Orthodox Church. They prospered for almost a thousand years, but fell to the Turks in 1453. Loss Of Innocence In Joyce Carol Oates Life After High School Guilt, Fear, and Rejection: Loss of Innocence in Life after High School In her short story, Life After High School, Joyce Carol Oates explores the loss of innocence experienced by the main characters, Barbara Sunny Burhman and Zachary Graff, through the use of literary devices such as story structure and characterization. In order to emphasize the loss of innocence in both characters, Oates divides her story into three distinct parts. She begins by looking back on Zachary calling at Sunny s window on what she describes as that last night . His manner changes the most drastically, however, after being rejected by Sunny and Tobias. Although it is apparent he is attached to Sunny, it is after his proposal is turned down that he becomes desperate and aggressive and eventually decides to commit suicide. When isolated, it appears that is the moment where Zachary loses his innocence, but by including Barbara s conversation with Tobias years later, it is revealed that this may not be necessarily true. Oates creates a parallel between Tobias and Zachary s relationship to that of Zachary and Sunny. She also explores Zachary s guilt in being perverted sinful in his soul... thoughts, deeds, and desires. (Page 577) This calls into question Zachary s view of his own purity: whether he believed himself debauched because of his homosexuality. In simple terms, it s a belief that the new law is in place and the old law has been put away with Jesus s crucifixion. In the Old Testament, it was a command to sacrifice something for the forgiveness of sins. Now, with the ultimate sacrifice being given for our sins (Jesus s Life) we do not have to sacrifice no more. Instead we learn and study God s word and obey his word. • 45. Application Of Agropolitan Center Development REVIEW OF LITERATURE Rural development has been discussed extensively in the literature by various writers from different disciplines. The universal objective of rural development is to improve the quality of life of rural people. This is facilitated upon a continuous process by government, non governmental organizations (NGO) and different actors at the (inter) national, state and local levels. Without doubt, this involves how best to organize rural area resources and potentials (especially human and economic potentials) so as to achieve an increase in the overall standard of living of the rural community dwellers. According to Halwart et, al (2003), the idea is to sustain the growth of rural economies, improve rural community livelihood and to promote food security through the improvement of food supply, employment and income. This chapter is divided into four parts. Part one reviews some approaches to the application of agropolitan center strategy in rural physical planning in selected third world countries. Part two examines the basic theories that relate to the spatial organization of human settlements by some well known writers such as Friedman, Christaller and others. Part three relate these theories to the present research and part four looked at large scale agriculture and rural development in the context of aquaculture. • 46. The History Of Vaccination The history of vaccination is something that both medical and public health students study as the basic foundational building blocks of modern western biomedicine. In the late 1700s, a man by the name of Edward Jenner, an English physician and scientist, inoculated an 8 year old boy with the pus drawn from the cowpox lesions of a dairy milkmaid (Green, 2015). The hypothesis at the time was that since milkmaids had a lower incidence of small pox while still having lessor cases of cowpox that the two were related. Researchers in Germany and England , through extensive testing, had supported this hypothesis. Jenner though was the first to make widespread use of the variolation. Further, if the live cowpox virus could be introduced into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Difference Between Modern And Mendeleev Periodic Table Over so many years the periodic table has changed in many years. In the modern periodic table the elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic numbers. In mendeleev s periodic table they were in arranged in order of increasing atomic weight. The difference in the modern and mendeleev periodic table n 1869, just five years after John Newlands put forward his law of octaves, a Russian chemist called Dmitri Mendeleev published a periodic table. Mendeleev also arranged the elements known at the time in order of relative atomic mass, but he did some other things that made his table much more successful. In the modern periodic there are families and periods.there are seven horizontal rows of elements called periods. The vertical columns of elements are called groups, or families. The Matrix. Mendeleev s periodic table presented a new paradigm, with all of the elements positioned within a logical matrix.. Mendeleev had written the properties of elements on pieces of card and tradition has it that after organising the cards while playing patience he suddenly realised that by arranging the element cards in order of increasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sometimes this method of arranging elements meant there were gaps in his horizontal rows or periods . But instead of seeing this as a problem, Mendeleev thought it simply meant that the elements which belonged in the gaps had not yet been discovered. He was also able to work out the atomic mass of the missing elements, and so predict their properties. And when they were discovered, Mendeleev turned out to be right. For example, he predicted the properties of an undiscovered element that should fit below aluminium in his table. When this element, called gallium, was discovered in 1875, its properties were found to be close to Mendeleev s predictions. Two other predicted elements were later discovered, lending further credit to Mendeleev s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Beliefs of the Nature of the Universe Change with Cultural... Many people have an opinion about the overall nature of the universe and about the role which humanity plays in the universe. For example, Why are we here and What will happen to us after we die ? The majority of us don t know the answers to these questions. Thus, many of us want to have a religion because it gives us the impression that we are secure in the universe. It also provides guidance in our life. I presume it s easier to live with some sort of explanation, even if it s incorrect. When asked, What religiondo you practice ? I reply, I m atheist . I simply lack belief in deities. However, many people have preconceived ideas about what I am and what I am not. For instance, I don t believe in God, I loathe Christians; I concur... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the weekends I hang out with my friends, go to the movies, and then prepare for the next day. Being an atheist can be difficult. It was my choice to become an atheist but I don t have any desire to sway others to become atheists, it s their choice. One of the things that are difficult for me is when the topic of religion is discussed. I understand people are entitled to their own opinions and I don t think someone who believes in a god is wrong. However, I dislike when stereotype atheist as sinful and wicked people. It s difficult to defend to others without seeming rude or hostile. Another thing that is difficult for me is when people try to preach their religion to me. I understand some religions teach that their religion is the only truth, and they want everyone around them to embrace it. However, it s difficult to tell a person you don t believe in their god without them getting offended and receiving negative comments. Being different in any way has its advantages and disadvantages. As an atheist, I am classified as a minority. After I discussed with my friends that I was an atheist, I started to receive the cold shoulder . None of my friends will communicate with me anymore and now I m a pariah. However, I don t regret telling them I m atheist because now I have the great benefit of being true to myself. I no longer have to pretend and agree with someone s religion that I don t believe in. Although I lost my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Aristophanes Clouds Is A Social Commentary On The Nature... Aristophanes Clouds is a social commentary on the nature of justice as it pertains to the philosophic life within the city disguised as a crude theatrical comedy. The protagonist Strepsiades is overcome by debt due to his son Pheidippides obsession with horsemanship, and Strepsiades seeks the help of local philosopher Socratesin order to learn the art of deceptive speaking so that he may trick his creditors and not give anyone back even an obol of those debts (120). Although the play is filled with vulgar humor on the surface, Aristophanesuses the dialogue to examine the dangers of the philosophical life and its effect on the city. Through the story of Strepsiades, Aristophanes leads his audience to the conclusion that the philosophic life and those who partake in it are a danger to the city because of their blatant disregard for the gods and the traditional customs of Athens. At the opening of the play, Strepsiades begins with an invocation to Zeus the King! (2). Upon arrival to Socrates Thinkery, Strepsiades begs Socrates to teach him how to win both just and unjust causes by speaking in order to have his debts forgiven without having to pay them back (98), and swears by the gods that he will pay Socrates (246). However, Socrates informs Strepsiades that Zeus does not even exist , nor do any other gods (367). • 50. Beneatha s Song In A Raisin In The Sun By Lorraine Hansberry Beneatha s Song Hardships and trials help to shape, mold, and create characters in stories, this is evident within the play A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry. Hansberry s assertive character, Beneatha, connects to the messages from classic Motown songs of the time period such as: inequality, identity, and respect. These songs sing of some characteristics and problems Beneatha holds. Through the soulful sound of Nina Simone s song, Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free , a cry for equality is heard that is similar to the one from Beneatha in A Raisin in the Sun.
