Examples Of Attorney Malpractice Claim
Attorney Malpractice Claims and the Self Defense Rule
When an attorney is faced with a malpractice claim, rules regarding disclosure of privileged attorney
client communications can cause much confusion and distress. We all know that communications
made to an attorney are privileged and as such must be held in strict confidence. However, limited
circumstances do exist that permit a disclosure of a confidential communication where it becomes
necessary for an attorney to defend herself. In California, and Federal practice, an attorney may
disclose a privileged attorney client communication in her defense only if the communication is
relevant to the claim of breach. This rule is provided for in Evidence Code section 958 which creates

The communications, though disclosed, may not be utilized in later proceedings. The courts have
found that permitting subsequent disclosures would further perpetuate the prior ineffectiveness of
counsel and unfairly require the defendant to give up his right to confidentiality to ensure a fair trial
with effective counsel. (In re Miranda (2008) 43 Cal.4th 541, 555.) The court held that to interpret
section 958 as abolishing the privilege for all later purposes would raise questions as to whether the
section conflicts with the defendant s 6th amendment right to counsel. Any further admission of an
attorney s ineffective assistance at a subsequent retrial could be viewed as a further consequence of the
violation of the defendant s right to effective assistance of counsel. Therefore, the exception could
only be utilized in the hearing in which it was in

Ferguson Incorporation Case Study
My recommendations on an Alcohol and Drug Policy would look like:
Ferguson Incorporation desires to provide a work environment that is both healthy and comfortable
for all its employees. It is recognized that the use of alcohol or drugs may have serious adverse effects
on an employee s health, safety, and job performance.
Individuals who believe they have a developing alcohol and/or drug problem are expected to assume
responsibility and seek assistance from their personal physician(s) and or appropriate community
resources before their job performance is affected or violations of this policy and related guidelines

Possession, use, or selling of drugs, or drug paraphernalia on Ferguson Inc. property or in company
vehicles is prohibited. It is a Criminal Offence under the Criminal Code and the proper Authorities

The Anxieties Of Modernity In Frankenstein And Dracula
In select gothic literature, anxieties of the times in which they were written tend to surface through
important themes, characters and settings. Frankenstein written by Mary Shelley in 1818 and Dracula
written by Bram Stoker in 1897 both share this characteristic by working through the anxieties of
modernity, here meaning the condition of being modern , specifically between new world science and
technology versus old world spirituality and faith. This manifests predominantly as the old traditional
values of Europe contrasting with the rapid and modern changes within England which provides a
point of contention between the two worlds. Therefore, within this essay I will argue that both
Frankenstein and Dracula were written to negotiate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because the Monster is a creation of modern society and is created through the advances within
science and technology due to (in Shelley s mind) industrialisation. The Monster can be seen to yearn
for the Romantic European sensibilities, but being the personification of modernity means he is
rejected from them: I admired virtue and good feelings, and loved the gentle manners and amiable
qualities of my cottagers; but I was shut out from intercourse with them...which rather increased than
satisfied the desire I had of becoming one among my fellows.
Dracula, on the other hand, was written during the Victorian era which followed after the Georgian
era. It was a time of technological prosperity for England which featured introduction of the railway
system, improved communication devices, and advances in medicine. These manifested within the
novel in the form of predominant discussions of train travel, the appearance of phonographs and blood
transfusions. The anxieties of modernity in Dracula focus on much the same as in Frankenstein:
science and technology versus superstition and religious dogma, and old European sensibilities versus

The Impact Of The Chinese Cultural Revolution
The Cultural Revolution, which affected China from 1965 to 1968, is the name given to Mao s
endeavor to proclaim his convictions in China. Mao Zedong was a Chinese Communist progressive
and the establishing father of the People s Republic of China. He had a Marxist Leninist hypothesis,
military procedures, and political approaches which were known as the Mao Zedong Thought. Mao
was worried about the traits of post 1959 China. He commented that the unrest had supplanted the old
respectability with over again one and expected that these individuals taking in a main part would
debilitate Mao s energy inside the gathering and nation. Mao trusted that with the begin of the Cultural
Revolution, it would disrupt the decision class and get China to a more equivalent condition of being.
August 1966 at a meeting of the Plenum of the Central Committee was the initiation of the Cultural
Revolution development.
The development was in a general sense about tip top legislative issues, as Mao attempted to reassert
control by setting radical young people against the Communist Party pecking order. Be that as it may,
it had across the board outcomes at all levels of society. Youngsters combat Mao s apparent
adversaries, and each other, as Red Guards, previously being sent to the wide open in the later phases
of the Cultural Revolution. Intelligent people, individuals regarded class foes and those with binds
toward the West or the previous Nationalist government were oppressed. Numerous

Paraphilia s Theory Of Sexual Deviance
Sexual deviance is considered any sexual activity that is different than the normal, acceptable sexual
activities of a society, but is vital for the person to experience arousal and orgasm (Sadock, 2007). The
activities that are considered deviant can change over time and be different in different societies.
These are also known as paraphilias. A paraphilia involves an extreme and continual sexual interest in
children, objects, animals, materials, etc. or harming oneself or others during sexual activity.
Sometimes the sexual interest focuses on the person s own interests while in others it focuses on the
target of the person s sexual interest. For one to be diagnosed with one of these disorders, the
paraphilia would need to cause considerable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Medication is also helpful in reduction of fantasies and harmful behavior which is necessary for those
who participate in life threatening behaviors such as sexual asphyxiation (minddisorders.com).
Biological Theories of Sexual Deviance
Biological theories of sexual deviance focus on structural differences in the brain, the genetic and
chromosomal makeup, hormone levels, as well as defects in cerebral functioning. Although a person s
biological makeup does have a part in some paraphilias, those who research the causes have yet to
come to a conclusion on the exact reasoning behind them. It is thought that psychological factors are
more the central reasoning behind these behaviors and that some event or events that occurred during
childhood caused association of sexual pleasure with that event or object and a paraphilia evolved.

As I put my black and gold jersey on, I thought of the outcome of tonight s game. Either the Penguins
come out as champions, or they are forced to game 7. I walked downstairs to put my shoes on, and I
saw my brother with his black and teal jersey on. We headed to the car. My mom was already annoyed
by how much my brother and I were fighting over who would win the intense game. Finally, after a
couple of minutes, we journeyed to the big game. After a long ride, we finally entered the streets of
Pittsburgh. We sensed the excitement and tense atmosphere of the city. Everybody crawled the streets
getting ready for the big game. When waited in line, it seemed like the whole city tried to rush in. The
line took about 45 minutes, but it seemed like hours. Finally, as we went through security, we were
dogs released from a cage. From the time we found our seats until the beginning of the game, more
and more people filled the massive arena. Many people filled the seats up like sardines. When
everybody arrived to my favorite place, we all waited for 8 o clock, the start of the game. By the time
8 o clock came around the crowd already filled with excitement. When it was time for the national
anthem, everybody quieted down in order to respect the flag that represents everything that allows us
to be in that moment. The whole arena stood in silence as the red, white, and blue banner flew over.
When the words, the home of the brave filled the air, everybody started to scream again.

The Advantage By Patrick Lencioni Summary
The six questions required in The Advantage by Patrick Lencioni that create clarity within a
corporation could easily be applied to multiple aspects of theatre [general management companies (i.e.
Daryl Roth), production companies (i.e. Roundabout, MTC), unions and organizations (BCEFA,
AEA), or specific productions (i.e. Bright Star)]. However, I think the questions will be most fruitful
when applied to my professional self: Miranda the Stage Manager. Considering the position I am in
nearing graduation with a terminal theatre degree I need to take my last few months at school to
discover who I am professionally and what I want for my career. Upon graduation, I will be a

For example, I get internally riled up when I see actors asked to do things outside of their contract.
Most of the actors in Othello are new, uneducated AEA members. Unlike the stage management
program, the CU acting program does not delve into union rules and the actors did not read their
ANTC contract prior to signing it. So, when they are using their personal clothing items in the shows,
I feel the need to tell them that they are contractually owed compensation. Or, when the director
schedules pick up rehearsals on two show days, I get the intense desire to tell the Equity Deputy that
this is expressly forbidden in our contract (especially when I hear the cast complain of exhaustion
before the first show even begins.) While my information may be accurate, I am genuinely unsure if
and when my meddling is appropriate. I, personally, do not like having an extra, uncompensated
rehearsal on a two show day either, but I feel incapable of complaining on behalf of myself. I spread
information about the contract with the actors so that they may decide if and when to

The passage and the lecture discuss whether dinosaurs were endotherm or not. Although the author
has proposed clear demonstrations which indicate that dinosaurs were endotherm, the lecturer takes
issue which what has been proposed by the author and believes that these evidence cannot prove the
claim. According to the passage, dinosaurs were endotherm because they some of them lived in the
polar region and only endotherm animals could live in such a cold environment. The lecturer
contradicts this theory and asserts that polar regions were warmer in those days and dinosaurs also
could migrate during cold periods or hibernate just like many modern reptiles. Secondly, the author

Ivan Pavlov was a physiologist, who contributed to the field of medicine, with his study of the
physiology of digestion. He was born September 14th, 1849, in Ryazan, Russia, in the village where
his father was a priest. When he was young poverty was an issue and everyone assumed he would
follow in his father s footsteps and become a priest. However, he was greatly influenced by the most
prominent physiologist at the time, Darwin s and his theory of evolution, D. I. Pisarev and I. M.

humans react to certain objects, or events; just like the dogs. This was cooperative because now we

Informative Speech On Head Injury
Hello, I am Jennifer Riley and I am a student from University of Maryland. I hope all is well. I am
writing to you concerning the impact of head injuries on soccer players.
Today injuries in sports is a common topic. A sprained ankle, broken finger, bruised knee are all
afflictions commonly known to the players and spectators; however, not all are informed about the
severity of head trauma. In sports, there are concussive incidents: hits to the head causing the brain to
violently shake damaging brain cells to the point where they can no longer be used. In the game of
soccer this can occur when colliding with another player or direct contact to the head. Recovery for
athletes with concussions is generally quick, but in some scenarios symptoms ... Show more content

For instance, Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy is a progressive degenerative disease commonly
found in the brains of athletes with a known past of recurring brain distress. The injury ignites a
buildup of the abnormal tau protein, causing a progressive worsening of the mental state. Previous
recorded cases have shown the location of damage was significant as well as remarkably distinct from
other damaged brains. Nonetheless, not all athletes with head injuries are diagnosed with CTE. The
symptoms of this disorder are very similar to those of dementia and Alzheimer s disease. The most
prevalent indicators include impulse control problems, aggression, depression, and impaired
judgement. These symptoms usually begin many years after a person s involvement in athletics.
Brain trauma is extremely dangerous and in some cases fatal. It is imperative for anyone participating
in sports to learn the signs and symptoms of a concussion as well as the long term effects. Educating
the youth of these consequences will teach them that it is key to abstain from high intensity, contact
sports until completely healed to ensure their best possible health. Thank you for your time and I hope

Naples Italy
Naples, Italy is located in southern Europe along the coast, east of the Mediterranean Sea. Its
longitude and latitude are 40.8450° N and 14.2583° E, which means that Naples never gets directed
sunlight overhead any day throughout the year. Naples has an elevation of about 20 feet above sea
level. This is relatively low, and the city itself is close to the sea as well. This is kind of scary because
the sea levels keep rising, and in the future Naples could be submerged in water. Naples Italy also is
45.28 square miles and has a population of around 960,000 people, this is the third most out of all the

The system was developed by a German climatologist and a botanist Wladimir Koppen 1846 1940
who put the world s climates into several different major categories based on general temperature
related to latitude. The Koppen system classifies a location s climate mostly by using annual and
monthly temperature averages and precipitation.
Naples Climate Classification
Naples Italy s climate classification is a CSA. This climate is typical of places in the Mediterranean
area, this climate is a subtropical climate. The places around the Mediterranean Sea is where this
climate is mostly found. This climate is also found in southern Oregon and in most of California. It is
found in parts of Western and Southern Australia as well and in southwestern South Africa. Some
sections of Central Asia and central Chile are CSA too. This Climate has a dry and hot summer and a
rainy winter.
California and central Chile have the same Koppen classification with CSA. Both of the places are on
the western side of each of their continents. These places have the same climate throughout the year.
During the winter it rains but the summers in both places are always dry barely any rain, it is hard to
grow crops in the summer. There is also high pressure in all these places and when there is high
pressure there is less precipitation.

America Must Be A Civil War Against Our Democratic Government
Yglesia is illustrating that America will crumble down at some point. With all the social, and political
issues facing our society, I agree with his statement. I believe that there would be a civil war against
our democratic government. The government members take advantage of their power in some
situations. Some concepts should be altered. Most people are starting to notice the unfairness and
somewhat corrupt actions government takes. The process as to vote for laws or presidents in this
country and others are not the most thoughtful and reasonable procedures. For example, if deadlocks
were removed from our democracy, it would be a better system. My two examples on this subject are
the immigration law by Obama and the Honduran President Zelaya trying to alter the constitution.
Gridlocks are illustrated in the article as a cause on why the democratic government is unfair.
Gridlocks is a an argument or proposed law ending in no decision. Gridlocking happens constantly in
our government. An example given was the immigration law, which was not passed. Obama wanted to
grant illegal immigrants access to programs in which they can become legalized, if they had been in
U.S over a period of time and have children that are citizen or permanent resident. This action was
taken to minimize deportation of parents and families. This law was not passed. President Obama
blamed the 4 4 court deadlock on Congressional inaction. The reason that people are deported is to

The Cause Of Bizare s Short Stories
Florida can be a strange and scary place sometimes, and anyone who lives there understands the truth

questioning, What could have possibly been the cause of that? I can recall one of these abnormal and
somewhat surreal situations that happened not too long ago. It was later in the evening, and I was
driving down a quiet street in order to get to friend s birthday party. Out of the corner of eye, I saw

Being a broke college student that has to go to school on a ratty old skateboard can be rough, and
anyone in a situation as miserable as his would look for a way to make some quick and easy cash to

wrangled up a group of his friends to film an entire bootleg series of the Teletubbies. After a dreadful
week of nonstop filming, he and his buddies had re recorded a shoddy and budgeted version of the
children s show. On his way back to the grungy apartment he had been renting for the past month, he
figured he would use the long skateboard ride home for a smoke break to relieve the stress from a
rough week of filming. Much to his surprise, the poorly made videos had millions of views and
downloads by the time he arrived at his apartment. Due to the popularity, the federal government
quickly discovered the counterfeit videos and promptly arrested the actors. A few months later, the
broke college student was released from the county jail late in the evening. Since he had no other

skateboard ride home. Much to his relief, there was a singular cigarette in the inside pocket of the
costume, which he happily smoked all the while

Major General Burnside s Defeat
Essential Elements/Causes of Defeat Major General Burnside s failure at the Battle of Fredericksburg
could initially be attributed to the army not receiving the pontoon bridges in time to cross the river and
sustain the army s momentum. However, MG Burnside s bigger issue can be linked back to his lack of
mission planning. The issue of not receiving the pontoon bridges relates directly to the lack of
Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB). During IPB, the battlefield environment is defined,
battlefield effects are described, the threat is evaluated, and threat courses of action are determined
(Headquarters, Department of the Army, 1994). If MG Burnside had taken the time to conduct proper
terrain analysis of the Rappahannock River ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the pontoon bridges needed by the Union Army had arrived on time maybe that would have altered
the course of the battle. General Lee would not have had the time to dig in on the high ground
surround Fredericksburg. The battle would have played out differently in that scenario. Or, If General
Lee had seen the number of Union Troops around Falmouth maybe he would have decided that
Fredericksburg was indefensible, using only delaying tactics against the Union forces, while
continuing with his plan of stopping the Union Army further south along the more defensible North
Anna River, but closer to Richmond. The other option from MG Hooker was to have crossed the
Rappahannock River upstream or further downstream. The upstream option would have been better
courses of action for that time of year, but a longer trip to Richmond. In my opinion upon the arrival
of the Union forces in Falmouth and no pontoon bridges available, MG Burnside should have been
open to the idea MG Edwin Sumner of continuing to cross the Rappahannock River still in pursuit of
the enemy. MG Sumner s men would have been a good source of intelligence after they secured the
high ground around Fredericksburg and waited for the remaining forces to ford the river and then
regroup and then continue moving south towards Richmond. This would have meant that

Children and Television Violence Essay example
Children and Television Violence
Through what they experience on television, children are forced into adulthood at too young of an age.
The innocence of youth is lost when children stare endlessly at a screen displaying the horrors of
murder, rape, assault, devastating fire, and other natural disasters. Although these are occurrences in
everyday life, things adults have grown accustomed to hearing about, children do not have the
maturity level to deal with these tragedies appropriately. Children s behavior changes because they
become desensitized to the violence. There are many preventative techniques that can be applied to
ensure that negativity on television will not interfere with a child s development.

Younger children are more susceptible to the impact of television violence in part because they spend
more time in front of the set. ?Children ages 2 to 5 watch about 28 hours of television each week, or
almost 4 hours per day.? (Black, et. al. 317) Older children watch about four hours less per week.
These younger children are fascinated with a media that does not require the ability to read or decipher
in a way they do not know how; therefore, they spend more time watching television than older school
age children. ?Television has somewhat less appeal for the adolescent who has the mental ability to
extend his or her senses with radio or print.? (Elkind 73)
One of the most disconcerting facts of modern life is the abundance of wasted time spent watching
mindless television programs. ?...at the end of the usual life span, the average person will have
endured more than ten uninterrupted years of television, day and night, with no breaks for the potty,
no sleep, no work, no school. Ten years of staring at a cathode ray tube, looking at images that for the

2013). This essay critically evaluates the use of the balanced scorecard (BSC) as a performance
measurement tool.
It is widely accepted that Norton and Kaplan of the Harvard Business School created the BSC.
However, there is a twist in the history of the BSC because some sources claim that Art Schneiderman
created the very first BSC in 1987 (Qin, Atkins and Yu 2013). In 1990, Art Schneiderman took part in
research that was spearheaded by Dr. Robert S. Kaplan and that is when he described his findings of
the BSC. Subsequently, Dr. Norton and Dr. Kaplan included Art s details in the article about the
Balanced Scorecard in 1992. Despite the fact that there were many articles that were published in
1992, the article published by Dr. Norton and Dr. Kaplan was very successful and this led to the
publication of another article on the BSC in 1993 (Kristensen, Andersen and Torp 2013). The balanced
scorecard was described in the articles and the journals that were written by the two doctors. Later on,
Norton and Kaplan conducted a study on the BSC and the study involved 12 companies. Accordingly,
the BSC became Norton and Kaplan s BSC and that is why they are recognized as the original creators
of the BSC. The American Accounting Association awarded the BSC the prize of the best theoretical
contribution in 1997 . After the award, the BSC rose

The Epic Epics Of Antiquity
From the Homeric epics of antiquity to Shakespeare s plays in the seventeenth century stories have
long been used as a way to express commentary on and examine societal issues. Today s social
commentary becomes even more dynamic as we now also use visual mediums such as television and
movies as ways to convey these stories and they often work in conjunction with literature via
adaptations. Perhaps the greatest illustration of this cross market, storytelling are comic book
adaptations as seen with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which spans across not only movies, but has
expanded to also include multiple television shows. Last April, Marvel s years of story building that
spread over multiple movies came to a head with the blockbuster ... Show more content on

The narrative device of Project Insight correlates with fears over domestic spying and in film this is
taken to the next level as it s revealed to be part of a larger plot of the movie s villain Alexander Pierce
to kill thousands. The idea of control over the national security apparatus is weaved throughout the
movie and is one of the central themes throughout Captain America: The Winter Soldier , and I agree
with the belief that the narrative neglects the pertinent question of whether or not we should even have
and use these technologies to begin with (Rosenberg). Another point from the article that really digs in
at some of the failings of Captain America: The Winter Soldier relates back to the concept of trust in
the main characters. We are supposed to be fine with Fury s choice to shoot Pierce because we trust
him. And when Steve, Romanoff, and Fury send the Project Insight helicarriers into deadly crashes,
we are not supposed to be bothered by the massive, indiscriminate loss of life they just caused both
because they are our heroes, and because the movie tells us that everyone on board is a bad guy.

The Federalist 10 Summary
In The Federalist #10 Madison argues that the greatest corruption found within a popular government
is its vulnerability to the problems that arise from factions, which is a group of people who ban
together to protect their own self interest and are prone to intrude upon the rights of others. Due to
different self interest, man will support what he believes in, even at the expensive of others, if he is
given the freedom to do so. Madison expresses that by nature, man possesses different opinions,
abilities, and self interest and therefore factions are inevitable to human nature. Madison proposes two
solutions in order to cure the problem of factions: prevent the causes of fractions or to control the
effects of the fractions. Madison states that the two reasons that cause fractions are liberty and
differences in property. Madison suggests that if liberty is stripped from the people, it will then result
in the people to carry the same beliefs and opinions. Yet, liberty plays a crucial role in the forming of
factions, which is why it cannot be demolished since its consequences can be worse than ... Show

There is only one other solution to this problem, which is to control the effects of the factions with the
forming of a republic government with different parties. Madison strongly states that by having a large
republic, where the people elect representatives, the less chance there is for corruption. He further
elaborates on what actions to take in order to be protected against the tyranny of the majority or
masses. Those who govern are accountable for taking actions that will benefit for the greater common
good. In a large republic, people will invest their votes on the elects of office, which is therefore prone
to less corruption where as in a small republic it is easy for those to be fooled due to manipulation of
possible people running for

instinctively attract interested international buyers for purchase.
Even more interesting, according to the NAR report are the four states influencing this buying trend of
international real estate buyers. It s no surprise the coasts are among the leaders for the sale of
properties. Florida and California are the frontrunners with Texas in hot pursuit. The one state standing
out for its distinction of no coastline, but attractive for real estate buying is Arizona known for its
trendy living. The state boasts its diverse community split between a younger workforce prepared for

So what s the future look like for the U.S. real estate market as the world continues to buy in, while
our own residents are buying up? Competition has definitely increased for the sale on high end

concern is affordability for the next generation of U.S. home buyers creating an exclusive gate into

Evaluating Performance
Evaluating Performance Performance evaluations, when implemented properly, act as a tool for
improving employee productivity, team performance and individual development. They can serve to
raise self esteem, increase motivation, strengthen relationships and foster ongoing communication and
commitment (Simpson, 2001). I feel that these reviews play a critical role in the workplace and should
remain a part of standard operating procedures, however many are beginning to disagree.
Current Trends
By the end of 2015, at least 30 of the Fortune 500 companies had stopped using performance

Performance reviews also offer management the opportunity to recognize and address gaps in training,

Like the combination pills, there is another type of progestin only birth control. The progestin only

Amnesia Psychology
Amnesia and Memory Loss: The Psychological Phenomenon
Introduction
For my psychology project, I chose the topic of amnesia. I have always been curious about memory
loss ever since I was a little kid. As a young, I watched movies like Finding Nemo were there was a
character, named Dory, who suffered from it. I have also been exposed stories from my parents, about
our ancestors, who suffered from alzheimer s, a disease that contributes to chronic memory loss.
Because of this, I became very curious about amnesia, as well as the concept of memory loss as a
whole. Prior to my research, I created a list of questions that I intended on answering. The questions
that I had were the following: How can we prevent amnesia and memory loss? What are the side
effects of amnesia? And, what are the different types of amnesia?
Overview ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Right off the bat, I can tell you that it relates directly to the unit on biological sciences, as well as our
developmental psychology unit. We all learned that some memory loss is normal as we age, almost
everyone experiences it in some point in their life. That being said, there have been some rare
instances where octogenarians, or people in their 80 s, retained better working memories than people
in their 20 s (which is often associated as the peak of human mental capacity).
However, most of the time scientists can see a sharp decline in memory, in most octogenarians, as well
as nonagenarians. Moving more towards the biological side of things, normal memory loss that
accompanies normal aging occurs in the brain due to changes in the prefrontal cortex. Meaning, that
as we get older, the less things we may tend to

Compare And Contrast Essay On Private Vs Private Healthcare
Public versus Private Health Care Coverage
The United States (U.S.) has a multitude of options for health care coverage. People have the option
for private or public coverage. One example of public coverage is Medicaid and an example of private
coverage is Blue Cross and Blue Shield (HCSC, 2015). There are many differences between each
health care option, the biggest difference is the price you are paying. This paper will discuss the
differences between private and public health insurances as well as the cost for each.
Private health insurance plans frequently are offered through a person s job. When an individual
acquires health insurance this way their workplace covers part of the cost for their insurance.
Frequently, they are offered different plans for different prices. Once these plans are chosen, typically,
a premium fee will be deducted from that person s pay checks (Colorado.Gov, 2015). On top of these
premiums the individual will also have other fees such as co pays, deductibles, or co insurance
(Colorado.Gov, 2015). Private plans can also be purchased without an employer s help, the individual
will be expected to cover the premium payment of the plan as well as all of the matching extra fees
(Colorado.Gov, 2015).
Medicaid is a public health insurance that is federally funded for those who do not have private health
insurance (Families USA, 2014). In the U.S. one out of every five adults and one out of every three
children use Medicaid (Families USA, 2014).

Anabolic Steroids Essay

are willing to do whatever it takes to gain an edge, even if it means compromising their health. For
almost three decades, athletes have been supplementing their strength program with anabolic steroids
to enhance their performance. To be sure, anabolic steroids are effective supplements to strength
training programs, but there is no doubt that the consequences can be deleterious.
What are Anabolic Steroids and how do they work?

Users often utilize a dangerous practice known as stacking, the combination several different types of
steroids to maximize their effectiveness (http://www.nashville.net/~acarney/8html).
Protein Synthesis
Anabolic steroids cause enzymes, such as RNA polymerase, to promote two important biochemical
reactions, creatine phosphate synthesis and protein synthesis. Creatine phosphate is a molecule that
can be metabolized in the absence of sufficient oxygen as a short term energy source. Increased
creatine phosphate synthesis enables athletes to train harder and for longer periods of time. Protein
synthesis is increased as the newly formed receptor steroid complex migrates to the nucleus and
initiates transcription. The production of RNA is elevated, causing an increased rate of protein
synthesis (http://www.bigsport.com/steroids/steroids/roidb11a.txt).
Nitrogen Retention
Anabolic steroids increase the body s ability to retain nitrogen. By allowing for better utilization of the
nitrogen in ingested protein, anabolic steroids help athletes to build body mass
(http://www.hcs.harvard.edu/~hsr/hsr/winter97/steroid.html). In order for an athlete to accumulate
extra muscle mass, his or her body must temporarily be in a state of positive nitrogen balance; more
nitrogen must come into the body than is lost. During strenuous exercise, the release of
glucocorticosteroids creates a negative nitrogen balance in the body. Anabolic steroids can reverse this

The Caribbean Slavery
Growing up in New York City, each year students are taught about the slavery that took place on
American soil. As a student, we put so much emphasis on slavery in America that it is almost easy to
forget that slavery existed outside of the United States. The reality is that slavery was common all over
the world at some point in time. Take for example, the slavery in the Caribbean was just as severe as
slavery in the U.S. Slaves in the Caribbean faced the similar challenges and adversities to the slaves in
America. Often times slaves resisted their oppressors, most famously was the Haitian Revolution,
which had a powerful historical impact. Many Caribbean slaves lost their lives by trying to become
free, and many of them live today to tell us all about what had happened.
The slave societies were similar in every Caribbean island just happened in different centuries.
According to (Gab Heuman), Barbados sugar revolution of the seventeenth century did not vary
dramatically from what happened in Jamaica and Saint Domingue in the eighteenth century and Cuba
and Puerto Rico in the nineteenth. The only thing that was different amongst these countries was the
technology that was being used. Like in Cuba in the nineteenth century, for example, they had more

Case Study Directing Operating Room Affairs
Directing operating room affairs is complicated even in the best case scenarios. However, patient use
of opiods can make assessments and choices more challenging. Intravenous drug users are often
diagnosed with endocarditis, an expensive considtion to treat. How often are you seeing addicts with
this serious heart condition in your facility, and how are you handling it? In many facilities, the patient
receives various treatments, including a replacement heart valve and extensive antibiotics. The aspect
of patient care that has not been included in the past is addiction services. Once the infection is cured
and the valve replaced, the patients are discharged, often hitting the streets hard in search of their drug
of choice. A cardiologist at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH, Jonathan Eddinger, became
increasingly frustrated wondering what happened to these patients once they left his care. He used the
web to search for patients from the previous five years who met both criteria; diagnosis with
endocarditis and addiction. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Personal Narrative-Just Leave Everything To Me
I relax on the basement floor with my oldest sister s legs resting next to my arms on each side of me.
My back is leaning against the couch with the laziest posture while my eyes are fixated on the screen
that displays Hello Dolly, a musical that I have loved since the day my mom first introduced it to me.
Lyrics to the opening song appear in my mind as Barbra Streisand lightheartedly sings Just Leave
Everything to Me on my not so flat screen TV. My toes unceasingly wiggle within my fluffy, pink
socks as they try to escape my basement s wintery grasp. Taylor sits behind me wearing a beat up
Ocean City Maryland hoodie and navy blue sweatpants with the hot iron gripped in her hand

Personal And Physical Consequences Of Amed Use
Personal and Physical Consequences of AMED Use: A Survey Questionnaire LYLE RIGHETTI
43250750 Abstract Our study s aim was to investigate the personal and physical consequences
associated with alcohol mixed with energy drinks (AmED) in comparison to alcohol use alone. A web
based format for the online version of the Alcohol Timeline Followback (TLFB) was completed by
876 students during their second week tutorial of Introduction to Psychology 105. Of these students,
625 were used for the study as they had reported drinking alcohol within a 28 day period. Although no
statistically significant correlation could be found in our study, other studies have shown support for
the consumption of AmED leading to greater social and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This type of behaviour has become increasing popular among university and college students due to
the excessive marketing of energy drinks and alcohol (Matthew Cronin Craig S. Wright, 2005) Recent
studies concerning college students suggest heavy episodic drinking continues to be a major health
problem that is associated with legal, academic and health problems. The consumption of AmEDs has
been receiving increased research attention due to its association with heavy drinking (Lindsey Varvil
Weld, Miesha Marzell, Rob Turrisi, Kimberly A. Mallett Michael J. Cleveland, 2013). This recent
phenomenon is concerning researchers as they discover the related consequences of AmED use.
Researchers use the Anticipated Effects of Alcohol Scale (AEAS) in order to measure a
comprehensive sampling that varied in positive and negative effects, as well as high or low arousal in
order to identify plausible outcomes of drinking (Meghan E. Morean, Teresa A. Treat William R.
Corbin, 2012). It has been estimated that almost half of 18 24 year olds in Australia have consumed
AmEDs and 10% consume them weekly. 90% of adults, 83% of 13 17 year olds and 63% of 6 12 year
olds consume caffeine daily. Caffeine is naturally occurring in drinks such as coffee and tea, as well as
in foods such as chocolate, but it is also a food additive in carbonated beverages and energy drinks

Compare And Contrast The San Francisco Earthquake
Earthquakes are terrible, heartbreaking events. Being caught in one could turn the whole world as you
know it, upside down. The San Francisco Earthquake of 1906 went down in history as one of the most
deathifying, tragic earthquakes of all time. The main character in the fictional novel Dragonwings
describes this earthquake as he lives through it. The main character, Moon Shadow, can only describe
the earthquake to a certain point, whereas a factual short story called The Great 1906 Earthquake and
Fires of San Francisco , can provide a much broader span of information. While both stories give valid
data about this natural disaster, the two stories are very different and provide various points of view
about The San Francisco Earthquake.

Mission Of The Mission Santa Clara
The Mission Santa Clara is a historical California site that is laid in the center of the Santa Clara
University. In 1777, it established and founded by the Franciscan Order. The mission s purpose was to
be the sister mission to Mission Dolores that is in San Francisco. Due to Mexico withdrawing from the
Spanish Empire, the King of Spain and his Viceroy, the ones sponsoring the missions, were no longer
in power. The Mexican government didn t have enough resources and was not interested to maintain
and upkeep the distant missions, removing the Spanish Franciscans. With little funds, the mission
perished slowly until the ownership of the mission was passed over to the Society of Jesus, also called
the Jesuits, in 1851. They made Santa Clara college and today, Mission Santa Clara is used as a
student chapel and opened to the public. Mission Santa Clara is set in the middle of Santa Clara
University (which can be seen in the Santa Clara University s campus map), located in the Bay area.
When it was founded, the city of Santa Clara was seen as a good place to set the mission due to it
having fertile land, mild climate that makes for comfortable living, and abundance of game in the area.
In front of the mission, there stands the Mission Cross. At the base of the cross, a piece of the original
cross, from 1777, is placed inside as a memorable. Standing in front of the mission s door, the three
bronze statues of St. John the Baptist, St. Claire, and St. Francis

A Summary Of Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
Medieval literature is a passion that has enveloped me since I read Chrétien de Troyes
Lancelot during my freshman year. In this Arthurian romance, Chrétien represents Lancelot as
conflicted a chivalrous knight whom one expects to find only in myth, yet in violation of the code of
honor, desirous of his lord s queen. I began thinking of the tales of the Arthurian knights as more than
legendary as potentially credible historical accounts. Soon, I wrote a paper on
Gawain s rhetoric as a means to elicit specific responses in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.
Gawain s rhetorical strategies and their manipulations ultimately lead him to a deeper personal
recognition and self acceptance. This early exercise alerted me to the pleasures of working with
languages of the Middle Ages. My academic interest in Celtic Studies was piqued when I learned of
Ogam stones in my
Literature in the Natural World class. Ogam is not a spoken language, rather, a code of inscriptions
that gave the Irish language an alphabet and supplied the Irish people with a means of writing on
stone, wood, and other natural elements with relative ease. Ogam is also found in many manuscripts,
where it is both written and read in a manner different from that employed when it is found on stones.
As an aspiring academic in Medieval Literature, I recognize that knowledge of the literature of
medieval cultures is vitally important. Irish literature, including
Ogam inscriptions and manuscripts, is therefore essential to

Human Nature, Our Downfall
In a metaphor, the evolution of civilization is in many ways similar to the evolution of flight. A long
story made brief both required multiple attempts, before they were able to function sustainably. Just as
the engineers in the big firms which produce the machines Airplanes and Helicopters used for flight,
are constantly attempting to improve upon their products, we as members of our respective societies
are always looking for better, faster and cheaper ways to sustain ourselves. Civilization requires three
main materials if you will; Politics the role of the state and political organization, the spokesperson
promoting the idea that might is right, Economics the production, exchange and economic
organization of society. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
P.2). This becomes more obvious with the rise of global issues such as, global warming. We demand
so much out of this planet, take so much for granted, and care so much for our self interests, yet we
fail to consider the health of our home the earth, which is irreplaceable. The green house effect takes
place when carbon dioxide is over present in the atmosphere (carbon dioxide traps solar energy
heating the atmosphere). As Godrej points out, a vital component of human advancement since
industrialization began, aided by greed, is throwing the system off balance. By burning fossil fuels
(coal, oil and natural gas) to supply our power and manufacturing needs and to drive our cars, were
adding over six billion tons of carbon to the atmosphere each year (Godrej p.18) adding the chopping
down of forests continues unabated, diminishing the earths ability to soak up carbon. The effects of
carbon build up or the greenhouse effect are not yet fully known, however, what we do know is that
the longer this issue persists, the less likely it can be resolved, as is suggested in the Godrej reading we
are reaching a tipping point.
The political realm of civilization is strongly influenced by capitalism. The political realm is an arena
in which elected officials represent the interests of particular groups within societies. The political
realm of society comes from the necessary, though very slow and gradual, consequence of a

Sexual Selection
The impact of Sexual Selection in the Asian Population There are many reasons as to why couples as
in the Asian continent decide to take part in the decision making process of sexual selection. These
arguments fluctuate depending on the region where the family is located. In China couples often resort
to ultrasounds to reveal the fetus gender since in this country is preferable having a son over a
daughter in order to prolong the family line and at the same time undergo China s strict one child
policy. Whereas, in India women are often obligated by their husbands and/or their conjugal families
to go under an ultrasound in order to acknowledge the fetus gender, especially in rural areas where the
masculine gender is favored over the feminine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This causes a possible scarcity of partners for the generations to come, especially in India and China.
Prohibition on more than one child per family in China has drastically increased female abortions and
infanticides to secure male offspring, while in India the expensive dowries have led to the mass appeal
of ultrasound test followed by abortions of female fetuses.
Feminist groups see the high female mortality rate and the men excess as a possibility for a status
increase for women at least in some aspects since men need women to created more men. So the first
feminine response against sexual selection is that the decrease in the number of women might lead
exactly to the increase in their social status .
In conclusion sex selection and gender preference is the manifestation of an anti women bias, and they
are also indicative of a prejudicial and discriminatory attitude towards women. The only possible
solution for this issue is to fight against the social structures that disguise the birth of girls a social and
economic burden, by doing this not only the social and general aspect towards women will change but
also a demographic and gender balance will be achieved in both of these

  • 2. Examples Of Attorney Malpractice Claim Attorney Malpractice Claims and the Self Defense Rule When an attorney is faced with a malpractice claim, rules regarding disclosure of privileged attorney client communications can cause much confusion and distress. We all know that communications made to an attorney are privileged and as such must be held in strict confidence. However, limited circumstances do exist that permit a disclosure of a confidential communication where it becomes necessary for an attorney to defend herself. In California, and Federal practice, an attorney may disclose a privileged attorney client communication in her defense only if the communication is relevant to the claim of breach. This rule is provided for in Evidence Code section 958 which creates an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The communications, though disclosed, may not be utilized in later proceedings. The courts have found that permitting subsequent disclosures would further perpetuate the prior ineffectiveness of counsel and unfairly require the defendant to give up his right to confidentiality to ensure a fair trial with effective counsel. (In re Miranda (2008) 43 Cal.4th 541, 555.) The court held that to interpret section 958 as abolishing the privilege for all later purposes would raise questions as to whether the section conflicts with the defendant s 6th amendment right to counsel. Any further admission of an attorney s ineffective assistance at a subsequent retrial could be viewed as a further consequence of the violation of the defendant s right to effective assistance of counsel. • 4. The Anxieties Of Modernity In Frankenstein And Dracula In select gothic literature, anxieties of the times in which they were written tend to surface through important themes, characters and settings. Frankenstein written by Mary Shelley in 1818 and Dracula written by Bram Stoker in 1897 both share this characteristic by working through the anxieties of modernity, here meaning the condition of being modern , specifically between new world science and technology versus old world spirituality and faith. This manifests predominantly as the old traditional values of Europe contrasting with the rapid and modern changes within England which provides a point of contention between the two worlds. Therefore, within this essay I will argue that both Frankenstein and Dracula were written to negotiate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because the Monster is a creation of modern society and is created through the advances within science and technology due to (in Shelley s mind) industrialisation. The Monster can be seen to yearn for the Romantic European sensibilities, but being the personification of modernity means he is rejected from them: I admired virtue and good feelings, and loved the gentle manners and amiable qualities of my cottagers; but I was shut out from intercourse with them...which rather increased than satisfied the desire I had of becoming one among my fellows. Dracula, on the other hand, was written during the Victorian era which followed after the Georgian era. It was a time of technological prosperity for England which featured introduction of the railway system, improved communication devices, and advances in medicine. These manifested within the novel in the form of predominant discussions of train travel, the appearance of phonographs and blood transfusions. The anxieties of modernity in Dracula focus on much the same as in Frankenstein: science and technology versus superstition and religious dogma, and old European sensibilities versus modern ... Mao Zedong was a Chinese Communist progressive and the establishing father of the People s Republic of China. He had a Marxist Leninist hypothesis, military procedures, and political approaches which were known as the Mao Zedong Thought. Mao was worried about the traits of post 1959 China. He commented that the unrest had supplanted the old respectability with over again one and expected that these individuals taking in a main part would debilitate Mao s energy inside the gathering and nation. • 8. Soccer Descriptive Essay As I put my black and gold jersey on, I thought of the outcome of tonight s game. Either the Penguins come out as champions, or they are forced to game 7. I walked downstairs to put my shoes on, and I saw my brother with his black and teal jersey on. We headed to the car. My mom was already annoyed by how much my brother and I were fighting over who would win the intense game. Finally, after a couple of minutes, we journeyed to the big game. After a long ride, we finally entered the streets of Pittsburgh. We sensed the excitement and tense atmosphere of the city. Everybody crawled the streets getting ready for the big game. When waited in line, it seemed like the whole city tried to rush in. The line took about 45 minutes, but it seemed like hours. Finally, as we went through security, we were dogs released from a cage. From the time we found our seats until the beginning of the game, more and more people filled the massive arena. Many people filled the seats up like sardines. When everybody arrived to my favorite place, we all waited for 8 o clock, the start of the game. By the time 8 o clock came around the crowd already filled with excitement. When it was time for the national anthem, everybody quieted down in order to respect the flag that represents everything that allows us to be in that moment. The whole arena stood in silence as the red, white, and blue banner flew over. When the words, the home of the brave filled the air, everybody started to scream again. ... The Advantage By Patrick Lencioni Summary The six questions required in The Advantage by Patrick Lencioni that create clarity within a corporation could easily be applied to multiple aspects of theatre [general management companies (i.e. Daryl Roth), production companies (i.e. Roundabout, MTC), unions and organizations (BCEFA, AEA), or specific productions (i.e. Bright Star)]. However, I think the questions will be most fruitful when applied to my professional self: Miranda the Stage Manager. So, when they are using their personal clothing items in the shows, I feel the need to tell them that they are contractually owed compensation. Or, when the director schedules pick up rehearsals on two show days, I get the intense desire to tell the Equity Deputy that this is expressly forbidden in our contract (especially when I hear the cast complain of exhaustion before the first show even begins.) • 12. Informative Speech On Head Injury Hello, I am Jennifer Riley and I am a student from University of Maryland. I hope all is well. I am writing to you concerning the impact of head injuries on soccer players. Today injuries in sports is a common topic. A sprained ankle, broken finger, bruised knee are all afflictions commonly known to the players and spectators; however, not all are informed about the severity of head trauma. In sports, there are concussive incidents: hits to the head causing the brain to violently shake damaging brain cells to the point where they can no longer be used. In the game of soccer this can occur when colliding with another player or direct contact to the head. Recovery for athletes with concussions is generally quick, but in some scenarios symptoms ... The injury ignites a buildup of the abnormal tau protein, causing a progressive worsening of the mental state. Previous recorded cases have shown the location of damage was significant as well as remarkably distinct from other damaged brains. Nonetheless, not all athletes with head injuries are diagnosed with CTE. The symptoms of this disorder are very similar to those of dementia and Alzheimer s disease. The most prevalent indicators include impulse control problems, aggression, depression, and impaired judgement. These symptoms usually begin many years after a person s involvement in athletics. Brain trauma is extremely dangerous and in some cases fatal. It is imperative for anyone participating in sports to learn the signs and symptoms of a concussion as well as the long term effects. Educating the youth of these consequences will teach them that it is key to abstain from high intensity, contact sports until completely healed to ensure their best possible health. With all the social, and political issues facing our society, I agree with his statement. I believe that there would be a civil war against our democratic government. The government members take advantage of their power in some situations. Some concepts should be altered. Most people are starting to notice the unfairness and somewhat corrupt actions government takes. The process as to vote for laws or presidents in this country and others are not the most thoughtful and reasonable procedures. For example, if deadlocks were removed from our democracy, it would be a better system. My two examples on this subject are the immigration law by Obama and the Honduran President Zelaya trying to alter the constitution. Gridlocks are illustrated in the article as a cause on why the democratic government is unfair. Gridlocks is a an argument or proposed law ending in no decision. Gridlocking happens constantly in our government. An example given was the immigration law, which was not passed. Obama wanted to grant illegal immigrants access to programs in which they can become legalized, if they had been in U.S over a period of time and have children that are citizen or permanent resident. This action was taken to minimize deportation of parents and families. This law was not passed. President Obama blamed the 4 4 court deadlock on Congressional inaction. After a dreadful week of nonstop filming, he and his buddies had re recorded a shoddy and budgeted version of the children s show. On his way back to the grungy apartment he had been renting for the past month, he figured he would use the long skateboard ride home for a smoke break to relieve the stress from a rough week of filming. Due to the popularity, the federal government quickly discovered the counterfeit videos and promptly arrested the actors. Major General Burnside s Defeat Essential Elements/Causes of Defeat Major General Burnside s failure at the Battle of Fredericksburg could initially be attributed to the army not receiving the pontoon bridges in time to cross the river and sustain the army s momentum. However, MG Burnside s bigger issue can be linked back to his lack of mission planning. The issue of not receiving the pontoon bridges relates directly to the lack of Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB). During IPB, the battlefield environment is defined, battlefield effects are described, the threat is evaluated, and threat courses of action are determined (Headquarters, Department of the Army, 1994). If MG Burnside had taken the time to conduct proper terrain analysis of the Rappahannock River ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the pontoon bridges needed by the Union Army had arrived on time maybe that would have altered the course of the battle. General Lee would not have had the time to dig in on the high ground surround Fredericksburg. The battle would have played out differently in that scenario. Or, If General Lee had seen the number of Union Troops around Falmouth maybe he would have decided that Fredericksburg was indefensible, using only delaying tactics against the Union forces, while continuing with his plan of stopping the Union Army further south along the more defensible North Anna River, but closer to Richmond. The other option from MG Hooker was to have crossed the Rappahannock River upstream or further downstream. The upstream option would have been better courses of action for that time of year, but a longer trip to Richmond. In my opinion upon the arrival of the Union forces in Falmouth and no pontoon bridges available, MG Burnside should have been open to the idea MG Edwin Sumner of continuing to cross the Rappahannock River still in pursuit of the enemy. MG Sumner s men would have been a good source of intelligence after they secured the high ground around Fredericksburg and waited for the remaining forces to ford the river and then regroup and then continue moving south towards Richmond. In 1990, Art Schneiderman took part in research that was spearheaded by Dr. Robert S. Kaplan and that is when he described his findings of the BSC. • 26. The Federalist 10 Summary In The Federalist #10 Madison argues that the greatest corruption found within a popular government is its vulnerability to the problems that arise from factions, which is a group of people who ban together to protect their own self interest and are prone to intrude upon the rights of others. Due to different self interest, man will support what he believes in, even at the expensive of others, if he is given the freedom to do so. Madison expresses that by nature, man possesses different opinions, abilities, and self interest and therefore factions are inevitable to human nature. Madison proposes two solutions in order to cure the problem of factions: prevent the causes of fractions or to control the effects of the fractions. Madison states that the two reasons that cause fractions are liberty and differences in property. Madison suggests that if liberty is stripped from the people, it will then result in the people to carry the same beliefs and opinions. Those who govern are accountable for taking actions that will benefit for the greater common good. People have the option for private or public coverage. One example of public coverage is Medicaid and an example of private coverage is Blue Cross and Blue Shield (HCSC, 2015). There are many differences between each health care option, the biggest difference is the price you are paying. This paper will discuss the differences between private and public health insurances as well as the cost for each. Private health insurance plans frequently are offered through a person s job. When an individual acquires health insurance this way their workplace covers part of the cost for their insurance. Frequently, they are offered different plans for different prices. Once these plans are chosen, typically, a premium fee will be deducted from that person s pay checks (Colorado.Gov, 2015). On top of these premiums the individual will also have other fees such as co pays, deductibles, or co insurance (Colorado.Gov, 2015). Private plans can also be purchased without an employer s help, the individual will be expected to cover the premium payment of the plan as well as all of the matching extra fees (Colorado.Gov, 2015). Medicaid is a public health insurance that is federally funded for those who do not have private health insurance (Families USA, 2014). To be sure, anabolic steroids are effective supplements to strength training programs, but there is no doubt that the consequences can be deleterious. What are Anabolic Steroids and how do they work? Anabolic steroids are synthetic derivatives of the male hormone testosterone. Most healthy males produce 2 10 milligrams per day of testosterone. Testosterone is responsible for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Users often utilize a dangerous practice known as stacking, the combination several different types of steroids to maximize their effectiveness (http://www.nashville.net/~acarney/8html). Protein Synthesis Anabolic steroids cause enzymes, such as RNA polymerase, to promote two important biochemical reactions, creatine phosphate synthesis and protein synthesis. Creatine phosphate is a molecule that can be metabolized in the absence of sufficient oxygen as a short term energy source. Increased creatine phosphate synthesis enables athletes to train harder and for longer periods of time. Protein synthesis is increased as the newly formed receptor steroid complex migrates to the nucleus and initiates transcription. The production of RNA is elevated, causing an increased rate of protein synthesis (http://www.bigsport.com/steroids/steroids/roidb11a.txt). Nitrogen Retention Anabolic steroids increase the body s ability to retain nitrogen. By allowing for better utilization of the nitrogen in ingested protein, anabolic steroids help athletes to build body mass (http://www.hcs.harvard.edu/~hsr/hsr/winter97/steroid.html). In order for an athlete to accumulate extra muscle mass, his or her body must temporarily be in a state of positive nitrogen balance; more nitrogen must come into the body than is lost. During strenuous exercise, the release of glucocorticosteroids creates a negative nitrogen balance in the body. Anabolic steroids can reverse this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Never the less, Chechnya was a useful thorn, located on the north slope of the Caucasus Mountains within 100 kilometres of the Caspian Sea, Chechnya is strategically vital to Russia for two reasons. First, access routes to both the Black Sea and Caspian Sea go through Chechnya, as well as oil and vital gas pipelines connecting Russia with Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. The Chechens were the most active opponents of Russia s conquest (1818 1917) of the Caucasus. They fought bitterly during an unsuccessful 1850s rebellion led by Imam Shamyl. After the soviet collapse of 1991, neighbouring Georgia s recent successful secession attempt inspired a Chechen separatist movement. General Dzhokhar Dudayev led Chechnya s drive for independence, however the president of the newly formed Russian federation, Boris Yeltsin, refused Chechnya s declaration of Independence, sending in 40 000 troops instead, only to withdraw when confronted by armed Chechens. • 41. The Caribbean Slavery Growing up in New York City, each year students are taught about the slavery that took place on American soil. As a student, we put so much emphasis on slavery in America that it is almost easy to forget that slavery existed outside of the United States. The reality is that slavery was common all over the world at some point in time. Take for example, the slavery in the Caribbean was just as severe as slavery in the U.S. Slaves in the Caribbean faced the similar challenges and adversities to the slaves in America. Often times slaves resisted their oppressors, most famously was the Haitian Revolution, which had a powerful historical impact. Many Caribbean slaves lost their lives by trying to become free, and many of them live today to tell us all about what had happened. The slave societies were similar in every Caribbean island just happened in different centuries. According to (Gab Heuman), Barbados sugar revolution of the seventeenth century did not vary dramatically from what happened in Jamaica and Saint Domingue in the eighteenth century and Cuba and Puerto Rico in the nineteenth. The only thing that was different amongst these countries was the technology that was being used. Like in Cuba in the nineteenth century, for example, they had more advanced equipment s than some enslaved had throughout the seventeenth century. However, each enslaves in the Caribbean sugar plantation faced the same treatment no matter what century they were in. The sugar plantation was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This type of behaviour has become increasing popular among university and college students due to the excessive marketing of energy drinks and alcohol (Matthew Cronin Craig S. Wright, 2005) Recent studies concerning college students suggest heavy episodic drinking continues to be a major health problem that is associated with legal, academic and health problems. The consumption of AmEDs has been receiving increased research attention due to its association with heavy drinking (Lindsey Varvil Weld, Miesha Marzell, Rob Turrisi, Kimberly A. Mallett Michael J. Cleveland, 2013). This recent phenomenon is concerning researchers as they discover the related consequences of AmED use. Researchers use the Anticipated Effects of Alcohol Scale (AEAS) in order to measure a comprehensive sampling that varied in positive and negative effects, as well as high or low arousal in order to identify plausible outcomes of drinking (Meghan E. Morean, Teresa A. Treat William R. Corbin, 2012). • 48. Mission Of The Mission Santa Clara The Mission Santa Clara is a historical California site that is laid in the center of the Santa Clara University. In 1777, it established and founded by the Franciscan Order. The mission s purpose was to be the sister mission to Mission Dolores that is in San Francisco. Due to Mexico withdrawing from the Spanish Empire, the King of Spain and his Viceroy, the ones sponsoring the missions, were no longer in power. The Mexican government didn t have enough resources and was not interested to maintain and upkeep the distant missions, removing the Spanish Franciscans. With little funds, the mission perished slowly until the ownership of the mission was passed over to the Society of Jesus, also called the Jesuits, in 1851. They made Santa Clara college and today, Mission Santa Clara is used as a student chapel and opened to the public. Mission Santa Clara is set in the middle of Santa Clara University (which can be seen in the Santa Clara University s campus map), located in the Bay area. When it was founded, the city of Santa Clara was seen as a good place to set the mission due to it having fertile land, mild climate that makes for comfortable living, and abundance of game in the area. In front of the mission, there stands the Mission Cross. At the base of the cross, a piece of the original cross, from 1777, is placed inside as a memorable. • 49. A Summary Of Sir Gawain And The Green Knight Medieval literature is a passion that has enveloped me since I read Chrétien de Troyes Lancelot during my freshman year. In this Arthurian romance, Chrétien represents Lancelot as conflicted a chivalrous knight whom one expects to find only in myth, yet in violation of the code of honor, desirous of his lord s queen. I began thinking of the tales of the Arthurian knights as more than legendary as potentially credible historical accounts. Soon, I wrote a paper on Gawain s rhetoric as a means to elicit specific responses in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Gawain s rhetorical strategies and their manipulations ultimately lead him to a deeper personal recognition and self acceptance. This early exercise alerted me to the pleasures of working with languages of the Middle Ages. My academic interest in Celtic Studies was piqued when I learned of Ogam stones in my Literature in the Natural World class. Ogam is not a spoken language, rather, a code of inscriptions that gave the Irish language an alphabet and supplied the Irish people with a means of writing on stone, wood, and other natural elements with relative ease. Ogam is also found in many manuscripts, where it is both written and read in a manner different from that employed when it is found on stones. As an aspiring academic in Medieval Literature, I recognize that knowledge of the literature of medieval cultures is vitally important. Irish literature, including Ogam inscriptions and manuscripts, is therefore essential to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A long story made brief both required multiple attempts, before they were able to function sustainably. Just as the engineers in the big firms which produce the machines Airplanes and Helicopters used for flight, are constantly attempting to improve upon their products, we as members of our respective societies are always looking for better, faster and cheaper ways to sustain ourselves. Civilization requires three main materials if you will; Politics the role of the state and political organization, the spokesperson promoting the idea that might is right, Economics the production, exchange and economic organization of society. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... P.2). This becomes more obvious with the rise of global issues such as, global warming. We demand so much out of this planet, take so much for granted, and care so much for our self interests, yet we fail to consider the health of our home the earth, which is irreplaceable. The green house effect takes place when carbon dioxide is over present in the atmosphere (carbon dioxide traps solar energy heating the atmosphere). As Godrej points out, a vital component of human advancement since industrialization began, aided by greed, is throwing the system off balance. By burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) to supply our power and manufacturing needs and to drive our cars, were adding over six billion tons of carbon to the atmosphere each year (Godrej p.18) adding the chopping down of forests continues unabated, diminishing the earths ability to soak up carbon. The effects of carbon build up or the greenhouse effect are not yet fully known, however, what we do know is that the longer this issue persists, the less likely it can be resolved, as is suggested in the Godrej reading we are reaching a tipping point. • 51. Sexual Selection The impact of Sexual Selection in the Asian Population There are many reasons as to why couples as in the Asian continent decide to take part in the decision making process of sexual selection. These arguments fluctuate depending on the region where the family is located. In China couples often resort to ultrasounds to reveal the fetus gender since in this country is preferable having a son over a daughter in order to prolong the family line and at the same time undergo China s strict one child policy. Whereas, in India women are often obligated by their husbands and/or their conjugal families to go under an ultrasound in order to acknowledge the fetus gender, especially in rural areas where the masculine gender is favored over the feminine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This causes a possible scarcity of partners for the generations to come, especially in India and China. Prohibition on more than one child per family in China has drastically increased female abortions and infanticides to secure male offspring, while in India the expensive dowries have led to the mass appeal of ultrasound test followed by abortions of female fetuses. Feminist groups see the high female mortality rate and the men excess as a possibility for a status increase for women at least in some aspects since men need women to created more men. So the first feminine response against sexual selection is that the decrease in the number of women might lead exactly to the increase in their social status . In conclusion sex selection and gender preference is the manifestation of an anti women bias, and they are also indicative of a prejudicial and discriminatory attitude towards women. The only possible solution for this issue is to fight against the social structures that disguise the birth of girls a social and economic burden, by doing this not only the social and general aspect towards women will change but also a demographic and gender balance will be achieved in both of these ...
