Utilitarianism In Star Wars
In the original trilogy the protagonists are underdogs, however, in the prequels, the supposed good
guys are shown to be a powerful combination of government and military lead by monastic
warriors. The structure of the Jedi order and their influence over a republican senate closely
resembles the relationship between the Roman Catholic church, the Knights templar, and western
European countries. Christendom historically was a socio religious community that became
corrupted by greedy individuals. It transformed into a geopolitical, secular power controlled by the
wealthy and imposed its will by force. This conception of corruption and war profiteering is
depicted in the Star Warsfilms when looking at how the senate enlists the Jedias generals... Show

Analysis Of Ford s New Strategy
Over the past decade, Ford was struggling from strategic challenges in order to gain market share
against its competitors or even keep its competitive standing; as a result, Ford have liquidated its
luxury car brand in order to fund its new line up which is a part of its new strategy. This new
strategy calls One Ford which aims to reduce Ford lineup numbers. In other words, it means
producing one car platform to be sold worldwide rather than producing a particular car platform for
each marketplace which in turn will reduce Ford factories numbers. Implementing this new strategy,
Ford is going to shut down its factories in many countries like Australia. In terms of implementation
the new strategy of Ford in Australia, this paper aims to provide a competitive analysis study
among Ford competitors focusing on Australian automotive market by identifying Ford s major
competitors, their objectives and strategies, strengths and weaknesses, market share and size;
beside, it highlights the new trends of Australian automotive market to examine the effect on
competition during the next few years. Australian automotive market has great competition among
the highest worldwide selling car brands such as Ford, Holden, Mazda, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Nissan
and Honda. In fact, this competition is more likely to reach the peak during the next decade.

How Did Barack Obama Use Humor In Pop Culture
It s 2016 and Barack Obama s 8th year of going to the presidential dinner at the White House,
where the comedy said there is more pop culture related and less like what people expect to hear
from politicians. From previous years he s made references to the Hunger Games and drunk
texting, and said he has a list that rhymes with bucket list for his last year in office. Even though
Obama may not be the first post racial president he is arguably the first postmodern humorist, and
with his humor in office it helps him and other politicians release stress while having a good time.

Some topics that are usually uncomfortable to talk about can be brought up and talked about when
it used through the use of humor. Racism is a prime example of this because you re not usually
going to just start talking about racism in a conversation but if it is brought up in a joke people can
talk about it and laugh about it. One dramatic way that racist humor has been spread throughout the
world is over the internet. Youtube is a great example of this because most the comedyvideos
uploaded in today s world will have some kind of rude or racist humor that jabs at someone or
some other race. One example would be with Key Peele videos and how racist they are in their
videos but what makes them different is that they are trying to teach a lesson with their videos.
Such as in their video named Racist Zombies when there is a zombie apocalypse and all the white
people in the world are turned into zombies but there are no black zombies because they aren t
attacked. The point behind that video is that they are trying to teach about racism and how bad it is
looked upon but they use comedy to somewhat mask the pain from the racism but still get a point

success in his career, understanding and solving social responsibility and ethical issues are one
of the most important class he have to pass. When people talk about Mexico, the things that

The Dangers Of Immunization In Children
Abstract
Parents are bombarded with information when it comes to their children and their children s health
and it happens the moment they are born. One main question they face off the bat is whether to
immunize or not. For children ages 0 18, the CDC recommends vaccinations against 16 diseases,
many of which could result in devastating illnesses and even death. Several injections coupled with
several possibilities of severe reactions, pain, irritation, itching, ect. But through extensive, heavily
monitored research and effectiveness, and evidence based science illustrating the improvements
and protection of the community it is clear that their benefits outweigh their risks. This paper will

Some believe immunization can cause autism, brain damage, multiple sclerosis, seizures, or life
threatening anaphylaxis. While it s best to show respect for these opinions, I simply disagree and
am guided by evidenced based data that illustrates no link between the dangers listed above and
immunizations (Vaccines Immunizations, 2010). According to CDC, there are several different
types of studies pertaining to, maintaining and ensuring the safety vaccines including clinical trials,
laboratory tests, and animal studies. There is constant monitoring of the safety of vaccines from
scientist, along with federal government, state, and local health departments, other partners, and the
public. CDC also monitors the safety of vaccines through a series of activities such as: VAERS
(vaccine adverse event reporting system), clinical immunization safety assessment project, vaccine
safety datalink, and emergency preparedness for vaccine safety (Vaccines Immunizations, 2010).
High quality research, broad understanding, constant monitoring, evolving knowledge and
understanding, and public health surveillance approach coupled with the many major medical
organizations such as CDC, IOM, AAP, AMA, and FDA to a name a few contribute to the
validity of the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines and immunizations. In a controversial topic,
when one side has sufficient and manifested scientific facts followed and supported by world
renowned sources, and the other side simply strong opinions and beliefs, swayed views lacking
data and evidence based research, and uncreditable sources linking a cause to conditions without

Human Culture Revealed In Daniel Quinn s Ishmael
Man lives life as though they are the ones to rule the Earth, instead of living as one with nature.
Daniel Quinn s Ishmael shows how man came to be this way, and why people should take a look
at the past to learn about the way people should live now. By comparing and contrasting controlling
culture and the thirst for knowledge between Ishmael and Planet of the Apes, it becomes clear that
man believes knowledge and power are the most important aspects of life.
One main argument Ishmael makes is that human culture is not based on humans as living beings
of Earth; it is based on them trying to be gods. The narrator says the reason for creation of man
went something like this, The world is for man... For nearly three million years he lived as ... Show

It sets them apart from all other creatures of the world; which is how the apes in Planet of the Apes
feel about knowledge over humans. The anthropomorphic race would never think that another
species could control them. After all, they expect exemption from the laws of nature. In the movie,
the main protagonist was originally from Earth, and explained their thirst for knowledge, You d
walk naked into a live volcano if you thought you could learn something no other man knew.
(Schaffner). Planet of the Apes is not so subtly saying the undying thirst for power in the form of
knowledge puts humans above all else, including gods. In the tale of Adam and Eve, Ishmael
explains to his student how foolish the want for knowledge can make a man, Wielding the
knowledge of good and evil, we have made ourselves the masters of the world, and the gods have no
power over us... isn t it sweeter to live in our own hands than in the hands of the gods? (Quinn,
164). Both texts agree that knowing things other races do not know makes them the more
intelligent, and in turn, the dominant species. In the movie, the main characters, Taylor and
Landon, automatically assume that they would run the planet in a short amount of time due to their
seemingly high intellect. However, when they meet the apes, they get caught, imprisoned, and
treated like animals. Since they were always taught humans are superior, they

When this romance initially commences, Leo notices people treating him differently as if he is an
alien. This is because Stargirl is an extraordinarily typical girl who doesn t track the culture of the
school. She plays an ukulele, keeps a pet rat in her tote bag, treats everyone with kindness and
serenades them in the lunchroom on their birthdays. As a result Leo requests Stargirl to transform
her identity so she can fit into the school, and people won t look down upon them. He wants her to
conform into the society. She adjusts her name into Susan an ordinary high school girl. The reader
discovers in this progression that she is discontented pretending to be what she isn t. Ultimately,
she is happiest when she is factual to herself. As she articulates Every once in a while someone

It is possible for an individual who dies or becomes totally disabled at an early age to be classified
as fully insured with less than 40 quarters. To receive old age insurance benefits, covered
individuals must also meet the test of retirement. To meet this test, persons under 70 cannot be
earning more than an established amount through gainful employment. This limitation of earnings
does not include income from sources other than gainful employment such as investments or
pensions. Social security retirement benefits consist of those benefits which individuals are entitled
to receive in their own behalf, called the primary insurance amount, plus supplemental benefits for
eligible dependents. These benefits can be determined from a prepared table. There are also both
minimum and maximum limits to the amount that individuals and their dependents can receive.
The Social Security program provides benefit payments to workers who are too severely

The Holocaust, And Art Spiegelman s Night And Maus
The word Holocaust refers to the mass murder of 6 million European Jews by the German Nazi
regime during World War II. It began in 1933 and ended in 1945. The ruler of Germany during
this time was Adolf Hitler. He and the Nazis put the Jew in concentration camps, where thousands
were killed everyday. This was one of the worst if not the worst genocides in history. Many books
have been written to document survivors testimony of this horrific event. Elie Wieselshares his
story and Art Spiegelman shares his father s story in the books Night and Maus. Comparisons can
be drawn between Maus and Night through the author s purpose for writing , the survivor s
experiences, and the author s perspective.
Elie Wiesel s reason for writing Night was personal, but it was also to keep the world aware of
the damage that was caused. He is a messenger to mankind , the nobel peace committee had said
as they gave him the prize. Elie doesn t want history to repeat itself. The best way to do that is
for the world to know what happened and learn from their mistakes. The personal half of his
reason was that Elie wanted to protect his child. My son changed me. Once you bring a life into
this world, you must protect it by changing the world. These were Elie Wiesel s own words. One
of Art Spiegelman s reasons was almost the same. He was eager to share his father s story with
the world. At the beginning of Maus I, Art describes how he asked his father over and over to tell
him his story. This

treatment and the prognosis of each type11. Hormonal therapy and targeted therapy have replaced
chemotherapy for subclasses that overexpress the corresponding receptors.
Luminal subtypes (Luminal A, Luminal B) are hormone receptor positive (HR) estrogen receptor
(ER)positive and progesterone receptor (PR) positive. They gene expression patterns similar to
normal cells that line the breast ducts12 14. Luminal subtypes are known to have better prognosis,
high survival rate and low recurrence rate compared to other subtypes .Treatment option of luminal
subtypes is based on HR targeting.
HER 2 is known for overexpression of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) genes.

Song of Myself by Walt Whitman
I celebrate myself, and sing myself / and what I shall assume you shall assume (Whitman 1 2).
These lines not only open up the beginning of one the best poems of the American Romantic period,
but they also represent a prominent theme of one of this period s best poet, Walt Whitman. In Walt
Whitman s Song of Myself, Whitman deals with his time period s most prominent theme of
democracy. Whitman tells readers that they must not only observe the democratic life but they
must become one with it. As Whitman states, For every atom belonging to me as good belongs
to you (3). Democracy provides a connection with all people. It is as if Joseph Stella felt this
connection and decided to depict it in his collection of paintings entitled Americans in the Rough.
The individual is of no greater or lesser worth than anyone else. Beatrice Marovich states that, It is
a song for fellow Americans, about the American body politic (349). An analysis of Song of Myself
portrays that understanding and becoming one with democracy through political collectivity
essentially sets the stage for the American democratic self. Joseph Stella does a great job of
interpreting and depicting Whitman s ideals of democracy through his illustrations representing
every facet of an American democratic life.
Joseph Stella is regarded is one of America s great artist of today. With his unique cultural and
personal characteristics he not only enriched the American heritage but made a significant and

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Four Freedoms Speech
Convincing an audience of 133.4 million is a daunting task, especially when they must be
convinced to join a war less than thirty years after World War I. On January 6, 1941, President
Franklin D. Roosevelt gave the State of the Union Address that began his third term as president.
This speech, broadcast across the United Stateson the radio, sparked the idea to join World War II
even before Pearl Harbor was attacked. In this speech, he fully supports the English against the
attack of the dictators trying to extinguish democracy across the world. He proposes the four
freedomsthat America is invested in protecting around the world: freedom of speech and
expression, freedom to worship God in any way, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. In his
speech, The Four Freedoms, Franklin Delano Roosevelt inspires nationalism and creates fear in his
audience to convince them to join the war ravaging through Europe through many forms of
metaphor and repetition. Throughout his speech, Roosevelt uses themes of nationalism through his
diction, repetition, and metaphor. The first example of this is in the first ten paragraphs where he
compares the situation in America to their history. He makes the current situation seem very
extreme and urgent which calls the citizens to act against this new threat. Throughout this, he
addresses the audience as We clearly making them feel American. Roosevelt also used a metaphor
about an eagle having its wings clipped. In this, America is represented by the eagle while the
bird stealing its feathers is meant to portray the dictators in Europe. This creates nationalism
because the eagle, normally the strongest bird and a common symbol of the United States, is
being stolen from, and there was nothing done to stop it. He also uses forms of repetition to
inspire the people to support the country. In the thirteenth paragraph, Roosevelt uses a
polysyndeton by repeating the word or to emphasize the American ideals that peace with the
Germans would not bring to the world. He does this because in 1941, most of continental Europe
had fallen to the Germans and if Germany were to win this war, those countries were likely to
never become democratic again. He uses the nationalism convince

Marcus Brutus, The Most Noble Roman in Shakespeare s Play...
Being ethical, patriotic, reasonable, and showing selflessness are just a few characteristics of a
noble man. After the death of respected Julius Caesar, the speedy fight for power exposed the
veracious side of Roman figures. William Shakespeare, in his play Julius Caesar, examines the
struggles for the title of the noblest Roman between ethical Marcus Brutus and other power thirsty
Romans to reveal the most honorable man. Marcus Brutus shows qualities of a noble roman
through patriotism. He makes many tough decisions that result in questioning his character, but the
actions he takes are for the betterment and out of the love for Rome. After the assassination of

Brutus can be summarized as a welcoming and loving person. Although he s classified as a
conspirator against Caesar, he tried to not scare Romans and Antony. After killing Caesar, Brutus
attempts to explain and make peace with Antony by saying:
Our hearts you see not; they are pitiful;
And pity to the general wrong of Rome
As fire drives out fire, so pity pity
Hath done this deed on Caesar. For your part,
To you our swords have leaden points, Mark Antony:
Our arms in strength of malice, and our hearts Of brothers temper, do receive you in With all kind
love, good thoughts, and reverence (III.i.169 176).
By saying this to his enemy, he lessened the tension and showed ethics that he did not plan on
killing Caesar s companion. He only targeted who was wrong for Rome. Due to Brutus s high
moral standards and ethical values, he received a great amount of respect from his followers.
When Brutus came close to his death he said farewell and thanked his followers. As his hands
shook he said: My heart doth joy that yet in all my life / I found no man but he was true to me.
/ I shall have glory by this losing day / More than Octavius and Mark Antony / By this veil
conquest shall attain unto. / So fare you well at once (V.v.34 390).

untrue to him. Brutus followers only greatly respected him because he was caring and loving to

Modern Tragedy Analysis
Is Modern Tragedy Truly Tragedy?
(A critique of Stephen King s inspired movie The Green Mile as it relates to Aristotle s Poetics)
Tragedy is an imitation, not of men, but of an action and of life, and life consists in action, and its
end is a mode of action, not a quality (Butcher). Aristotle says that tragedy has more to do with the
action of the plot than the characters themselves. Tragedy is best defined as a drama that
includes a clear plot line and a protagonist who has a character flaw that leads to his or her
downfall. Character flaws occur in many ways, for some it is excessive pride, for others it is just
the need to be kind to others and disregarding a person s own health. The major difference between
a tragedy and a comedy is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tragic hero, consequently, should be a man better than ourselves, but not perfect; and he
should suffer from a flaw which shows itself in some mistaken judgement or act resulting in his
downfall (Poetics Packet). While it may not seem like a flaw, Coffey s character flaw is that he
has some sort of supernatural healing power which, in a way, got him into the death row area of
prison to begin with. Coffey performs an act where he touches ill people and for whatever
reason, the person is cured, and Coffey coughs up insects that represent the negative things
leaving a person s body as the individual heals. As the movie wraps up, Paul and various other
guards are aware of John s innocence, yet there is no evidence so he will have to be put to death
regardless. Throughout the movie, men are put to death and the audience can see just how
gruesome that is, yet people often feel little remorse or pity for the first several executions in the
movie. The thing that is so emotional about John Coffey s execution is that the viewers are aware
he is being put to death even though he is innocent. Virtually no one feels the urge to execute an
innocent man, but many feel the urge to execute someone who is guilty (Dow). That is a highly
accurate statement, the majority of people have no issue killing a guilty person, but the real

The Phillips Curve Essay
The Phillips Curve
Economists agree that unemployment and inflation are two of the major macroeconomic problems
of the twentieth century. If a relationship between the two existed then this would be a major break
through for the macro management of the economy. Phillips work was empirical started with
evidence and worked towards a theory. The causation for the Phillips theory was that the level of
unemployment caused the rate of change in money wages to be what it was.
What economic theory lies behind this?
As unemployment decreases the available pull of labour goes down. This means that resources
become increasingly scarce and workers can push for higher wage rates. Or as unemployment

its own spending and tax receipts, or in other words, to have an active fiscal policy. This policy

unemployment would fall. The inflation controversy Demand Pull or Cost Push?
Keynesian economists were divided into two camps. Some believed that inflation was caused by
too much demand for goods and services, or excess demand i.e. Demand Pull Inflation. Such
economists were very enthusiastic about the Phillips curve because it seemed to provide strong
evidence for their views. The second camp of Keynesian economists believed that inflation was
caused by cost pressures arising from high wage settlements gained by strong trade unions and from
increases in import prices i.e. Cost Push Inflation. They were doubtful about the usefulness of the

exchange for accepting a bit more wage inflation or vice versa. The Phillips curve helped the

As years go on and new presidents come and go, America has to face problems that lead to either

(Gale) However, health issues are not the only challenges an overweight child or adolescent
often faces. Obese children often must also deal with many psychological and emotional
challenges such as a loss of self esteem, depression, anxiety. Not only can obesity in childhood
create difficulties with social development and interfere with education, but it can also create the
opportunity for the children to become victims of harassment and bullying. In addition, as pre
teens hit puberty, obesity can become especially challenging. (Gale) A girl s concerns about her
appearances increase as her body develops and she becomes more aware of society s views of
the perfect body as portrayed in the media. Obesity also allows pre teen girls to be more
susceptible to developing an eating disorder, such as anorexia, bulimia, or binge eating. Crash
diets or over excercising can also become an option to pre teen girls facing obesity. (Gale) From
physical to psychological consequences, obesity in children can be especially dangerous for their
well being. Although obesity rates in children and adolescents are over half less than obesity rates
in adults, many children are still at high risk. The rates can increase if changes are not made over
time and for many, it will develop into adult obesity. Obesity in adults is found, similarly to obesity

The Chimney Sweepers By William Blake
The Chimney Sweepers
William Blake has written two poems with the same title of Chimney Sweeper, however each
poem was written to portray a different perspective of similar situations. The poem Chimney
Sweep (Songs of Experience) is written in a bleaker scope compared to Chimney Sweep (Songs of
Innocence) which happens to be much more optimistic.Willaim Blake had written these stories as
foils of one another and which has helped readers compare and contrast the messages that the
poems are trying to illustrate.
In the Chimney Sweeper (Song of Experience), William Blake tells the story of a young chimney
sweeper who was sold into his profession. When the boy is asked about his parents he replies that
They are both gone up to the church to pray , meaning they are around to look after the child.
The little boy continues on explaining how he deceives his parents so they may think that he is
happy, however the truth is that he knows he is in a profession that he will mostly die from and
is unhappy because of it. The little boy finishes off the conversion stating that his parents are gone
to praise God and his Priest and King, Who make up a heaven of our misery . The little boy
basically damns god and societies highers up for putting him in the position that he is in.

It all started when four visionaries conceptualized setting up a training center to fill very specific

It was in the early 80s when Augusto C. Lagman, Herman T. Gamboa, Benjamin A. Santos, and

Systems Technology Institute s name came from countless brainstorming sessions among the

Adoption Causes Grief By Haley Peck
Adoption Causes Grief
Haley Peck
Caledonia Mumford High School
Abstract
An unborn child stays in their mother s womb for approximately 9 months. During that time, they
make an unbreakable connection with each other. When adoption takes place at any age of the
adoptees life, it is difficult for both the mother and child. When infants are abandoned, or feel that
they are being abandoned, it causes them to grow up with many unresolved issues. This is
because the first thing they learn about life is that it is lonely and hostile, unlike their mother s
womb. This can cause adoptees to grow up with many psychological issues and the major one is
grief. They grieve the loss of their birth mother and the life that they could have lived. No matter
how dedicated an adoptive mother is, she can never fill that void.
Discussion
Adoption is an amazing process and it is strongly encouraged in our country. However, adoptees
face several psychological issues, including grief. The biological mother and child have a very
strong bond and, when broken, it leaves the child with many unresolved issues. When the baby is in
the fetal stage, the mother is the whole world for the baby and completely supports the fetus. After
the baby is born, maintaining that connection is needed for the infant to feel a sense of well being
and wholeness. Following an adoption, the infant often feels helpless, empty, hopeless, and alone.
This is because the baby is missing something which is

Stages Of Domestic Violence
To address and decrease domestic violence occurring, professionals have recognized some
preventative measures that include identifying factors that predispose a victim to abuse. Witnessing
domestic violence as a child illustrates inappropriate behaviors that the child will learn is
acceptable, normal and inevitable. When a mother is subjected to violence in front of her daughter,
they internalize these behaviors of her attacker and learn to mimic the submissive, beaten down
condition of her mother. In some cases, children have also been found to seek out similar
relationships in adulthood that mirror the characteristics of the abuser in their household while
growing up. A study conducted by The College Student Journal analyzed aspects of father daughter

Each phase may differ in length and the level of violence may increase over time. Most victims
report that their partner was not abusive in the beginning stages of their relationship but slowly
progressed to be so. A population based survey collected data from women who have suffered from
DV (domestic violence) to track the characteristics of the cycle. The repetitive cycle is generally
classified into three distinct stages; a tension building phase, an episode of violence and a
honeymoon phase (Figure 1: Domestic violence against women cycle). The first few tension
building stages will appear subtle and minor, such as breaking down a victim s self worth,
passive aggressive insults and creating unnecessary conflict. These tactics are used by the
abuser to manipulate the woman into doubting herself and believing false realities created by
the abuser. Eventually, the tension will continue to build until a breaking point is reached and
an episode occurs. The episode of violence stage may not even be violent at all. This stage is
classified by any severe physical, emotional or psychological attack on the victim at the peak of
the tension building phase. The next step, the honeymoon phase, is the key aspect of the cycle
because it allows for the abuser to regain power over the victim. The abuser will be sincerely
apologetic, with empty promises to never harm her again. Without this stage, there would be no
cycle, and the victim would have no reason to remain in the relationship. The slow progression of
these unhealthy aspects of a relationship allows for the abuser to manipulate and control the victim

The Fall of the House of Usher Analysis
The Fall of the House of Usher Review
The Fall of the House of Usher is a short story written by Edger Allan Poe in 1839. Almost
everything about the story is very gloomy, dark and depressing. For example, the house is
described by the narrator as the melancholy House of Usher and the description of Roderick
Usher himself makes you think of a corpse. This theme of dreariness and sorrow pervades the
story and is done to a very chilling effect, which really draws in the reader. The Fall of the House
of Usher has lots of necessary elements of a traditional Gothic tale: a dreary landscape, a haunted
house, mysterious characters, etc., but for all of these elements, the vagueness of the story is a
large part of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I felt creeping upon me, by slow yet uncertain degrees, the wild influence of his own fantastic yet
impressive superstitions. This shows that, although he is an educated and analytical man, he is
susceptible to other influences. He tries to suppress his fears and help his friend throughout the
story and is successful until, at the very end, his fear finally overcomes him as Lady Madeline s
reappearance after her death is just too much for him and ends up driving him out the house. Edgar
Allan Poe creates a sensation of claustrophobia in this story. The narrator is mysteriously trapped
by Roderick s lure and his need to help his friend. He cannot escape until the house of Usher
collapses completely. The house, because of its deteriorated state and seemingly seclusion from
everything else, seems to take on a monstrous character of its own the Gothic mastermind that
controls the fate of its inhabitants. Edgar Allan Poe creates confusion between the living things and
inanimate objects by doubling the physical house of Usher with the genetic family line of the Usher
family, which he refers to as the house of Usher. It is even said in the story that the people of the
nearby village refer to both the actual house and the Usher family as the house of Usher which
reinforces the idea that they are the same thing. Poe employs the word house metaphorically, but

The Importance Of Goal Setting And Job Enrichment
In reading the The Elizabeth Layman article the reader tends to get an indepth outline of how job
redsighn can be accomplished. The nature of this reorganization included many elements including
goal setting and job enrichment. I hope, in the following pages, to show the reader how both of the
areas were approached.
This first question I would like to answer is, how are the principles of goal setting applied? As
many people are aware, goal setting is one of the best ways to improve employee motivation. This
motivation is maximized by setting clear, achievable goals and then making employees
accountable to those goals. It is said that goal setting can improve the way an employee performs
by as much as twenty five percent.
In this article goal, setting plays a very influential role in the redesign of the extended Health
Information Management system. The most obvious instances of goal setting were setting the
physical goals of implementing the new system and the benchmarks of service it had to achieve.
The overall goal was to have effective systems in place that would help manage the new system
efficiently, while covering all of the changing requirements in the industry. Some of the goal
setting were not quite as obvious. Take for example the area of performance reports. The
performance report is only successful if you set a standard fro what the performance is required to
be. Once this goal is set regular evaluation is needed to see where people stand in relation to

What Is The Difference Between The Wizard Of Oz Book And Book
The adaptation of the text, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum that I watched was
the movie The Wizard of Oz filmed in 1939. The three components that were different were the
way it ended, the violence included, and why the characters were lacking. In the book the way it
ends makes the audience think that OZ is a real place that does exist. There were books that came
after this book which involved Dorothy living in the land of Oz. However, in the movie Dorothy
wakes up from a nap at the end; indicating the whole experience was a dream. Another difference
was that the movie didn t describe how each character became how they were. The book
describes how the Scarecrow was made because the munchkin forgot to give him a brain. The
Tinman doesn t have a heart because he was made up by a tinsmith after getting cut up, but
forgot to be made with a heart. The lion was just born to be cowardly. The last difference is there
was much more violence described in the book than in the movie. In the book it was explained
that the tinman was cut to pieces by an axe and that is why he is now made out of tin. The
violence contributes to the story being interpreted in a different way because if someone were to
watch the movie they would think it is a light hearted story meant for fun. However, I think it is
apparent that the book was darker and included more intense topics, including topics of love and
being cut up which is why the characters need to see OZ. Also, reading the

George Orwell, the author of Animal Farm and Barry Levinson director of the Cinematic
production Wag the Dog both explore in their texts the corruption of society. With in the texts both
authors key ideas are explored to exposing Corruption and to highlight how powers use
manipulation and half truths to gain and retain control. To make their ideas prudent to the audience,
Orwell and Levinson make use of various literary and filmic techniques, most prominent of these in
both texts is the use of Irony. These texts influence the audience directly to consider the potential
folly of human forms of governance, which is timely to society in our day.
Both Orwell and Levinson explore the ways in which social ideals are corrupted for personal

Colony Collapse Disorder
The Buzz on Colony Collapse Disorder Denise Collins According to the National Geographic
News website, the domestic honey bee population has decreased 50% in as many years (Roach,
2004). Many reasons are blamed for the decrease in honey bee numbers including diseases and
pesticides. Scientists have given the decline in honey bee population phenomenon a name,
Colony Collapse Disorder. While some experts maintain that Colony Collapse Disorder is a
nuisance and not a catastrophe, it is a serious problem affecting domestic honey bees worldwide.
Colony Collapse Disorder is a phenomenon affecting domestic and wild honey bee colonies
worldwide. Basically what is happening is worker bees are leaving the hive and not coming back but

Spanish researchers have recently announced they have found the cause of Colony Collapse
Disorder. The scientists are suggesting that the honey bees are being attacked by a fungus
called Nosema ceranae. Through further testing of infected hives, the researchers may have also
found a cure. Simply enough, an antibiotic has been found to be effective in curing the colony
(Ford, 2009). I believe that more research needs to be done to further evaluate the Colony
Collapse Disorder. We need to make sure that all possible causes have been checked and
rechecked. There could be more than one cause to the devastating disorder. There could also be
more than one remedy to the problem. The first item that needs to be completed is do extensive
study of the both the wild and domesticated honey bee. This study of both types is to be done to
see why commercial honey bee colonies are affected more often than wild hives. A healthy hive
needs to be quarantined for the control. When a colony is suspected of being on the verge of
collapsing, miniature transponders will be attached to worker bees to track its movements.
Every aspect of the honey bees life needs to be studied and documented. The first sign of a colony
in danger of collapse needs to be documented. When a remedy is found it can be treated as soon as
possible. This step needs to be completed as quickly as possible before it becomes critical. I am

Long Overdue Yard Debris
The warmer months of the year are great for getting any long overdue yard work done. You can
use the long days to clear up detritus that has started to take over or to finally find a new home for
objects you only planned to house outside temporarily. The yard debris removal tips below will
help you to get started.
What Are Some Starter Tips for Removing Yard Debris?
1. Remove Large Objects
When you first begin cleaning up your yard, start removing all of the large items lying around, such
as tree limbs, rocks, or any furniture you might have moved to this area. If you are trying to add a
garden or do some landscaping, think about how you might reuse some of these objects for
decorative purposes. For the rest, it might be necessary to get

President Jimmy Carter And The Iran Hostage Crisis
Mere minutes after President Jimmy Carter was out of office, the Iran Hostage Crisis, for which
his presidency is most remembered, was over. Behind him was a disjointed foreign and confused
domestic policy. When he left office, Carter s approval rating was 34 percent, and his disapproval
rating nearly twice that (Roper Center). Today, it seems that he is a better ex President than he was
a president, as evidenced in his founding of the Carter Center, his cultivation of his presidential
library, his contributions to Habitat for Humanity, and his numerous other humanitarian efforts.
During his term, he had a poor relationship with Congress, a low approval rating with the
American people, and a lack of cohesive international or domestic policy. I believe his two greatest
failures are also the two which marked his entire presidency and caused the drop in his approval
ratings: the confused and faltering domestic and international policies which lasted throughout his
presidency and the IranHostage Crisis.
Jimmy Carter was a one term president who won on a campaign of being not Washington and not
Gerald Ford (Hargrove, 1988). Shortly after entering office, his refusal to trade political favors
with members of Congress, unwillingness to learn the rules of Washington politics and play by
them, and the general lack of communication between his administration and Congress stalled any
possible working relationship. This cannot be seen as a failure on the part of Congress, who

Urban Regeneration And Urban Development
INTRODUCTION:
This dissertation is influenced by the ongoing urban regeneration and urban developments in
many of the major cities in India, especially in city of Pune, and its adverse effects on the city
townscapes and place identities. City of Pune has a rich education legacy and has been often
referred as the Oxford of the East , a legacy which came into prominence on the establishment of
the University of Pune in the year 1949 (Hindustan Times, 2012). The city truly justified itself as
the cultural capital of Maharashtra with its strong connections with the work of arts, music, theater
and literature (Hindustan Times, 2012). Pune, being an educational hub of India by having one of
the India s oldest University (Maharashtra Tourism, 2013), has now been transformed into a major
manufacture and production hub as well as has improved in educational sectors like research
institutes for information technology, management, architecture and engineering that attract
students and professionals internationally (SCHEMCON, 2015).
With the inception of international influences and urban planning techniques, it has been realized
that the old heritage and culture, the core Pune identity is slowly been taking a blow. The
urbanization has been transforming the urban townscapes of Pune into completely new dimensions
thus hampering the glorious heritage and cultural identity for which the city of Pune is known for.
The following research will highlight the importance of preserving and

Symptoms And Treatment Of The African Sleeping Sickness
Get Down With the Sickness, Sleeping Sickness
In 2014 MSF admitted 330 people for the african sleeping sickness. Tsetse flies are carriers of the
parasite human African Trypanosomiasis. There are 65 million people at risk in 36 countries
where tsetse flies are found. If not treated the disease is fatal. T. Brucei Gambiense is responsible
for the reportings of more than 98% of human trypanosomiasis. Only 2% of reported cases come
from T. Brucei rhodesiense. There are 3 kinds of trypanosomiasis but T. brucei brucei does not
affect humans. ( What Is African Sleeping Sickness? )

Slave traders avoided these symptoms. In 1902 the first detection of trypanosomes in human
blood was reported. In Uganda and Congo the earliest recorded epidemics took place between 1896
and 1908. In Congo roughly 500,000 people died and 300,000 people died in Busoga, Uganda.
By the late 1940 s the spread of the African Sleeping Sickness died down. We have come a long
way for treating the African Sleeping Sickness. There is a three step pathway. ( African
Trypanosomiasis ) The transmission of the disease is by the tsetse fly. The tsetse fly is exclusively
found in sub Saharan Africa. 97% of reported cases are from the 7 most affected countries out of
36 that are considered endemic. The characteristics of the African Sleeping Sickness can have
great socio economic effects but the number of cases are trivial. Around 10,000 new cases of the
African Sleeping Sickness are reported each year but many cases go undiagnosed. This makes it
difficult to pinpoint how many people have the disease. It s mode for transmission is from
person to person after infected by the tsetse fly bites someone. If the African Sleeping Sickness
is left untreated the mortality rate is almost 100%. Trypanosomiasis feeds off of the glucose your
red blood cells are supposed to be making and the lack of energy makes you seem sleepy. You fall
asleep more often and then fall into a coma. The coma then leads to death.

Gender Differences In The Help Movie
The help is a movie about race, gender and class inequalities in Jackson Mississippi during the
1960 s. It is told from the point of view of a young writer named Skeeter. She was born into a
middle class family who s servants and maids are called The help and are exclusively African
American and treated as if they were diseased and below any white American. The maids did the
cooking, cleaning and even raising white children as if they were their own. Skeeter recognized
this as a problem and decided she wanted to write a book about the struggles of a black woman s

Visual Textual Analysis
Each of the stimuli I selected was due to something in the image or video that drew my attention.
The first image referenced as Sunset attracted my focus due to the color and the dark contrast of the
boy and tree standing out against the background. The advertisement deemed Human caught my
attention because of the complexity of the picture. There are so many components to the picture
interacting with each other. The bodies and the actual text overlap constantly causing me to attend
to it longer. Unlike Sunset the color in Human is very subdued, but the orientation of the different
bodies makes it interesting. The Mountain Dew commercial aired during the Super Bowl this year,

For a computer, the lack of distinct borders would also make it hard to distinguish one structure or
object from the other.
This picture is actually a great example of multiple Gestalt principles. The cars moving from right
to left demonstrate the principle common fate. They can quickly be determined as cars driving on
the road. Even thought the actual road isn t completely visible from this angle, due to the cars
obvious movement it is easy for the observer s brain to assume a road is there.
Proximity is also used to process what is going on in this picture. The sign at the forefront of this
picture reading EPCC can be understood using proximity. The letters are all very close together
and are placed in front of a solid green background. This suggests that those letters all actually
belong to one sign and one word.
The lines of cars that are occasionally obstructed from the observer s view by other objects are
visually understood using continuation. Even though the cars are cut into portions, as observers we
are able to recognize and understand the cars are in fact whole and intact behind the object that

The more molecules that are able to escape into the vapor, the greater the decrease in
temperature due to evaporative cooling. Thus, a larger negative О”T corresponds to a substance
in which the IMFs are weak. A greater number of electrons correspond to a great polarizability of
a molecule. Greater polarizability leads to greater dispersion forces. Thus, as molar mass increases,
the number of electrons increase, which increases the polarizability of the molecule and hence the
strength of the dispersion forces of the substance. 4. In Molecular Series II (Branched Chain
Alcohols): As you go through the group from 1 butanol пѓ sec butanol пѓ 1 ter butanol: A. The
dipole moments, surface area (shape), steric hindrances, and change in temperature (degree of
evaporative cooling) affect IMF strength and are changing from one molecule to the next. B.

Analysis Of Small Steps
Author Style To start off, Louis Sachar writes in many different styles in the different books he
writes. There are many different books that he has written and has gotten many awards. Sachar
won the Newbery Medal for one of his top selling books, called Holes. Another book that he is
written is called Small Steps. Small Steps is about how you have one thing at a time in life and not
do so many things at once. In the book Small Steps, Louis Sacharuses figurative language, conflict
to help keep the reader engaged, and uses the same character s name in multiple of his books as
his writing style. One style that Louis Sachar uses in the book Small Steps is conflict. Conflict
is a struggle between opposing forces or when two characters in a story get in a fist fight or just
a fight over a conversation. In the book Small Steps, an example of conflict is on page 217, She
picked up her cup and tossed the contents at him, splattering him with coffee and cream. Kira got
mad at Armpit because Armpit said that Kira should consider another profession besides singing
and Kira was really upset that Armpit said that. Kira tossed the cup of coffee at him while
everyone in the store stared at Armpit with coffee all over his shirt. This relates to the author s
style because Sachar likes to use a lot conflict in his books to keep the reader engaged. Another
example of conflict in the book Small Steps is on page 199, Moses whacked him on the side of his
head. X Ray gets hit on the side of his head very hard by Moses, who is a man who wants the
counterfeit tickets that X Ray has. X Ray s glasses broke, and his tickets were stolen by Moses,
while X Ray lay on the floor after he got punched in the face. Sachar uses a lot of conflict in the
books he writes. In addition to conflict, another style that Louis Sachar uses in his books,
especially Small Steps and Holes, is figurative language. Figurative language is a language that
uses words of expressions with a meaning that is different from the literal interpretation. It also uses
exaggerations or alterations to make a linguistic point. An example of figurative language in Small

This shows the viewer that greatness comes not from killing many people, but from ones own
consciousness, and beliefs. Maximus has not become a decorated warrior and hero, by just
killing people, he has used his own beliefs, and fought for what he believes correct. His fall and
rise, allow the reader to see exactly what he believes, and reveals his quest for freedom.
Throughout the film, Maximus does not want glory or fame, but only wants revenge and
eventual freedom. The film holds this theme and meaning within the scenes themselves, and the
viewer does not need any background information. Scott s film presents the overall purpose of
he enhancement of life. Maximus, plays the role of the hero, who rises, and takes his revenge.
Although Maximus kills many people, he does so righteously, trying desperately to avenge his
murdered family, and gain his freedom. Not once does maximus kill innocent people, or take the
lives of those who did him no wrong. He only wants vengeance, on those who betrayed and
wronged him, those who made him a slave, and murdered his family. At one point, Maximus
screams to the crowd, are you not entertained, mocking their vile cheering, and death chants. The
people however do not hear his mocking tone, but cheer louder, rooting him on. Maximus never
betrays his fellow soldiers, or harms innocent people, he kills the people who block him from his

Property Developers Role in Urbanization
Property speculators are those who invest in different kinds of properties such as residential
properties, offices, shopping malls and so on. They buy the property at a low price but sell it at
a high price and the difference between two prices is their profit. This essay will focus on only
one type of speculators property developers and their role in urban change. Property developers
who buy a piece of land and build offices or housings and then sell to the public to gain profit.

With a nice living environment, plenty of facilities and a high living standard in urban area, more
people are eager to move to urban area. This causes a further increase in urban population and
adverses the problem of inadequate living space.
To deal with the problem mentioned above, the property developers therefore create much
residential land use. In the 1960s, Tin Shui Wai and Admiralty were for fishery and military port
respectively. But in the early 2000s, the developers turned the originally land uses to residential,
recreational and commercial land use which enlarged the size of the urban areas. Besides, the
economy in Hong Kong is at its peak before 1997. The demand for commercial land use was high.
The property developers urged the government reclaim Victoria Harbour to obtain more land for
building more commercial buildings and offices which are profitable. One of the significant
example is Chek Lap Kok airport which is reclaimed from the sea to facilitate the economic
growth. These show that the property developers expand outwards to get more land and it leads to
urban change.
There is another way of outward expansion and that is the expansion of built up area into rural
areas. That means originally the land is used for agriculture but the developers convert them into
urban land uses. Tai po is a good example to illustrate this point. In the 1950s, Tai Po was a piece of

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Four Freedoms Speech Convincing an audience of 133.4 million is a daunting task, especially when they must be convinced to join a war less than thirty years after World War I. On January 6, 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt gave the State of the Union Address that began his third term as president. This speech, broadcast across the United Stateson the radio, sparked the idea to join World War II even before Pearl Harbor was attacked. In this speech, he fully supports the English against the attack of the dictators trying to extinguish democracy across the world. He proposes the four freedomsthat America is invested in protecting around the world: freedom of speech and expression, freedom to worship God in any way, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. In his speech, The Four Freedoms, Franklin Delano Roosevelt inspires nationalism and creates fear in his audience to convince them to join the war ravaging through Europe through many forms of metaphor and repetition. Throughout his speech, Roosevelt uses themes of nationalism through his diction, repetition, and metaphor. The first example of this is in the first ten paragraphs where he compares the situation in America to their history. He makes the current situation seem very extreme and urgent which calls the citizens to act against this new threat. Throughout this, he addresses the audience as We clearly making them feel American. Roosevelt also used a metaphor about an eagle having its wings clipped. In this, America is represented by the eagle while the bird stealing its feathers is meant to portray the dictators in Europe. This creates nationalism because the eagle, normally the strongest bird and a common symbol of the United States, is being stolen from, and there was nothing done to stop it. He also uses forms of repetition to inspire the people to support the country. In the thirteenth paragraph, Roosevelt uses a polysyndeton by repeating the word or to emphasize the American ideals that peace with the Germans would not bring to the world. He does this because in 1941, most of continental Europe had fallen to the Germans and if Germany were to win this war, those countries were likely to never become democratic again. It was in the early 80s when Augusto C. Lagman, Herman T. Gamboa, Benjamin A. Santos, and Edgar H. Sarte four entrepreneurs came together to set up Systems Technology Institute (STI), a training center that delivers basic programming education to professionals and students who want to learn this new skill. Systems Technology Institute s name came from countless brainstorming sessions among the founders, perhaps from Sarte s penchant for three letter acronyms from the companies he managed at the time. • 31. Adoption Causes Grief By Haley Peck Adoption Causes Grief Haley Peck Caledonia Mumford High School Abstract An unborn child stays in their mother s womb for approximately 9 months. During that time, they make an unbreakable connection with each other. When adoption takes place at any age of the adoptees life, it is difficult for both the mother and child. When infants are abandoned, or feel that they are being abandoned, it causes them to grow up with many unresolved issues. This is because the first thing they learn about life is that it is lonely and hostile, unlike their mother s womb. This can cause adoptees to grow up with many psychological issues and the major one is grief. They grieve the loss of their birth mother and the life that they could have lived. No matter how dedicated an adoptive mother is, she can never fill that void. Discussion Adoption is an amazing process and it is strongly encouraged in our country. However, adoptees face several psychological issues, including grief. The biological mother and child have a very strong bond and, when broken, it leaves the child with many unresolved issues. When the baby is in the fetal stage, the mother is the whole world for the baby and completely supports the fetus. After the baby is born, maintaining that connection is needed for the infant to feel a sense of well being and wholeness. Following an adoption, the infant often feels helpless, empty, hopeless, and alone. This is because the baby is missing something which is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stages Of Domestic Violence To address and decrease domestic violence occurring, professionals have recognized some preventative measures that include identifying factors that predispose a victim to abuse. Witnessing domestic violence as a child illustrates inappropriate behaviors that the child will learn is acceptable, normal and inevitable. When a mother is subjected to violence in front of her daughter, they internalize these behaviors of her attacker and learn to mimic the submissive, beaten down condition of her mother. In some cases, children have also been found to seek out similar relationships in adulthood that mirror the characteristics of the abuser in their household while growing up. Each phase may differ in length and the level of violence may increase over time. Most victims report that their partner was not abusive in the beginning stages of their relationship but slowly progressed to be so. A population based survey collected data from women who have suffered from DV (domestic violence) to track the characteristics of the cycle. The repetitive cycle is generally classified into three distinct stages; a tension building phase, an episode of violence and a honeymoon phase (Figure 1: Domestic violence against women cycle). The first few tension building stages will appear subtle and minor, such as breaking down a victim s self worth, passive aggressive insults and creating unnecessary conflict. These tactics are used by the abuser to manipulate the woman into doubting herself and believing false realities created by the abuser. Eventually, the tension will continue to build until a breaking point is reached and an episode occurs. The episode of violence stage may not even be violent at all. This stage is classified by any severe physical, emotional or psychological attack on the victim at the peak of the tension building phase. The next step, the honeymoon phase, is the key aspect of the cycle because it allows for the abuser to regain power over the victim. The abuser will be sincerely apologetic, with empty promises to never harm her again. Without this stage, there would be no cycle, and the victim would have no reason to remain in the relationship. • 33. The Fall of the House of Usher Analysis The Fall of the House of Usher Review The Fall of the House of Usher is a short story written by Edger Allan Poe in 1839. Almost everything about the story is very gloomy, dark and depressing. For example, the house is described by the narrator as the melancholy House of Usher and the description of Roderick Usher himself makes you think of a corpse. This theme of dreariness and sorrow pervades the story and is done to a very chilling effect, which really draws in the reader. The Fall of the House of Usher has lots of necessary elements of a traditional Gothic tale: a dreary landscape, a haunted house, mysterious characters, etc., but for all of these elements, the vagueness of the story is a large part of the ... Edgar Allan Poe creates a sensation of claustrophobia in this story. The narrator is mysteriously trapped by Roderick s lure and his need to help his friend. He cannot escape until the house of Usher collapses completely. The house, because of its deteriorated state and seemingly seclusion from everything else, seems to take on a monstrous character of its own the Gothic mastermind that controls the fate of its inhabitants. Edgar Allan Poe creates confusion between the living things and inanimate objects by doubling the physical house of Usher with the genetic family line of the Usher family, which he refers to as the house of Usher. The nature of this reorganization included many elements including goal setting and job enrichment. I hope, in the following pages, to show the reader how both of the areas were approached. This first question I would like to answer is, how are the principles of goal setting applied? As many people are aware, goal setting is one of the best ways to improve employee motivation. This motivation is maximized by setting clear, achievable goals and then making employees accountable to those goals. It is said that goal setting can improve the way an employee performs by as much as twenty five percent. In this article goal, setting plays a very influential role in the redesign of the extended Health Information Management system. The most obvious instances of goal setting were setting the physical goals of implementing the new system and the benchmarks of service it had to achieve. The overall goal was to have effective systems in place that would help manage the new system efficiently, while covering all of the changing requirements in the industry. Some of the goal setting were not quite as obvious. Take for example the area of performance reports. The performance report is only successful if you set a standard fro what the performance is required to be. • 36. What Is The Difference Between The Wizard Of Oz Book And Book The adaptation of the text, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum that I watched was the movie The Wizard of Oz filmed in 1939. The three components that were different were the way it ended, the violence included, and why the characters were lacking. In the book the way it ends makes the audience think that OZ is a real place that does exist. There were books that came after this book which involved Dorothy living in the land of Oz. However, in the movie Dorothy wakes up from a nap at the end; indicating the whole experience was a dream. Another difference was that the movie didn t describe how each character became how they were. The book describes how the Scarecrow was made because the munchkin forgot to give him a brain. The Tinman doesn t have a heart because he was made up by a tinsmith after getting cut up, but forgot to be made with a heart. The lion was just born to be cowardly. The last difference is there was much more violence described in the book than in the movie. In the book it was explained that the tinman was cut to pieces by an axe and that is why he is now made out of tin. The violence contributes to the story being interpreted in a different way because if someone were to watch the movie they would think it is a light hearted story meant for fun. However, I think it is apparent that the book was darker and included more intense topics, including topics of love and being cut up which is why the characters need to see OZ. Also, reading the ... To make their ideas prudent to the audience, Orwell and Levinson make use of various literary and filmic techniques, most prominent of these in both texts is the use of Irony. The first item that needs to be completed is do extensive study of the both the wild and domesticated honey bee. Behind him was a disjointed foreign and confused domestic policy. When he left office, Carter s approval rating was 34 percent, and his disapproval rating nearly twice that (Roper Center). Today, it seems that he is a better ex President than he was a president, as evidenced in his founding of the Carter Center, his cultivation of his presidential library, his contributions to Habitat for Humanity, and his numerous other humanitarian efforts. During his term, he had a poor relationship with Congress, a low approval rating with the American people, and a lack of cohesive international or domestic policy. I believe his two greatest failures are also the two which marked his entire presidency and caused the drop in his approval ratings: the confused and faltering domestic and international policies which lasted throughout his presidency and the IranHostage Crisis. Jimmy Carter was a one term president who won on a campaign of being not Washington and not Gerald Ford (Hargrove, 1988). Shortly after entering office, his refusal to trade political favors with members of Congress, unwillingness to learn the rules of Washington politics and play by them, and the general lack of communication between his administration and Congress stalled any possible working relationship. City of Pune has a rich education legacy and has been often referred as the Oxford of the East , a legacy which came into prominence on the establishment of the University of Pune in the year 1949 (Hindustan Times, 2012). • 47. Analysis Of Small Steps Author Style To start off, Louis Sachar writes in many different styles in the different books he writes. There are many different books that he has written and has gotten many awards. Sachar won the Newbery Medal for one of his top selling books, called Holes. Another book that he is written is called Small Steps. Small Steps is about how you have one thing at a time in life and not do so many things at once. In the book Small Steps, Louis Sacharuses figurative language, conflict to help keep the reader engaged, and uses the same character s name in multiple of his books as his writing style. One style that Louis Sachar uses in the book Small Steps is conflict. Conflict is a struggle between opposing forces or when two characters in a story get in a fist fight or just a fight over a conversation. In the book Small Steps, an example of conflict is on page 217, She picked up her cup and tossed the contents at him, splattering him with coffee and cream. Kira got mad at Armpit because Armpit said that Kira should consider another profession besides singing and Kira was really upset that Armpit said that. Kira tossed the cup of coffee at him while everyone in the store stared at Armpit with coffee all over his shirt. This relates to the author s style because Sachar likes to use a lot conflict in his books to keep the reader engaged. Another example of conflict in the book Small Steps is on page 199, Moses whacked him on the side of his head. X Ray gets hit on the side of his head very hard by Moses, who is a man who wants the counterfeit tickets that X Ray has. X Ray s glasses broke, and his tickets were stolen by Moses, while X Ray lay on the floor after he got punched in the face. Sachar uses a lot of conflict in the books he writes. In addition to conflict, another style that Louis Sachar uses in his books, especially Small Steps and Holes, is figurative language. Figurative language is a language that uses words of expressions with a meaning that is different from the literal interpretation. It also uses exaggerations or alterations to make a linguistic point. An example of figurative language in Small Steps ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Besides, the economy in Hong Kong is at its peak before 1997. The demand for commercial land use was high. The property developers urged the government reclaim Victoria Harbour to obtain more land for building more commercial buildings and offices which are profitable. One of the significant example is Chek Lap Kok airport which is reclaimed from the sea to facilitate the economic growth.
