Team Training Essay
After I examining your training records it s evident that you re extremely smart. You dominated
your end of course exam with a 92% to become a 5 level as an Aircraft Structural Maintainer.
However, looking at your hands on training completion date I began to question if you truly
understood the material. I also questioned if you received the proper training. Unlike the average
completion dates I ve seen in the past, you completed your 5 level tasks in roughly 16 months
versus the norm of 8 10 months. On the contrary, my perception of how you affected the team
dynamic in the shop was that of an executor. Whenever tasks were brought to your attention, you
were always overly anxious to execute the plan in a timely manner and identified... Show more

Why did I recommend this specific additional duty to you? The reason I am recommending this
additional duty to you is because I sincerely believe you will excel in this position. This program
requires a very specific structure and the responsibility it carries is very is significant. Handling
chemicals with the right personal protective equipment is crucial to the safety of the personnel
in your section. Based on your team role as an executor, I think you would soar in this additional
duty because of your ability to follow specific regulations and your high standards. You ve
always been quick to say No when members wanted you to do a task that wasn t justified by
technical data. I foresee you having zero issues ensuring the chemicals that are used
continuously are labelled correctly and cleaned before and after use. Which is an issue we both
have seen continuously occur over the past few months. It seems like every few weeks the shop
acquires a Quality Assurance (QA) fail for improper storage of HAZ material. As aggravating as
that can get, if you fill the HAZ Material and Waste position it will allow you to flex your
cognitive preference as an adaptor. In doing so, you will be able to make improvements to the
program in areas you deem fit based on AFIs, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Occupational, Safety and

What Caused The Great Depression In America
In 2008, an enormous global financial crash had occurred impacting millions of people around
the world. It was, according to many people, the worst financial crash after the Great Depression
in 1930. One of the main causes of both depressions was people s lack of knowledge and
understanding of finance. Becoming financially literate can allow people to be more prosperous in
the future by saving more money and help reduce the chances of falling into a downward spiral
financially. Furthermore, many people do not know the difference between wants and needs, which
was a lesson I learned in third grade. Today, Americans are $900 billion dollars into debt, which
they have to pay throughout their lifetime. This troubles millions of people because

Withdrawal Analysis
Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment versus Non Clinical Withdrawal Assessment in the
Reduction of Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms
Alcohol will always have a long standing in history due to its tumultuous history and the human
consumption. Alcohol abuse and dependence are prevalent health problems in the United States
affecting 6% to 8% of the population (Wayne, Wong and Lee, 2015)
Alcohol withdrawal increases the length of stay in the hospital and complicates 40% of hospital
admissions (Sen, et Al, 2016). The nurse is the first line contact that will assess the patient and has
an integral part in helping to reduce the symptoms and length of stay with the proper assessment
and implementation of care since alcohol withdrawal can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Abstract. The abstract is located at the beginning of the article. The abstract is very concise and to
the point by stating the problem which is that there is limited data to effectively provide therapy for
patients in intensive care units (ICU), with a diagnosis of alcohol withdrawal syndrome (AWS). The
methods used in the article were a before and after study for medical ICU patient, while
incorporating a new protocol in place of the Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Alcohol.
The abstract also states the results of the study, and its conclusion.
Introduction. As the article continues with the introduction, the introduction states the problem,
which is, that, currently there are no guidelines for the management of AWS in the ICU patients.
For nurses to properly perform the CIWA assessment, patients must be conscience and able to
answer questions regarding the severity of the illness, making it hard for nurses to either over or
under sedate the patient causing further complications, building a persuasive argument for the new
study. Towards the end of the introductory paragraph, the article states the hypothesis, by
implementing this new protocol would result in shorter duration of AWS treatments and its
associated complication. As the article

Similarities Between Lincoln And Julius Caesar
Betrayal in the political world prevails and has considerably changed the course of world history.
Both Julius Caesar and Abraham Lincoln, two of the most prominent leaders, experienced such
betrayal. Despite this, the lives of these two men share more remarkable similarities. Through an
analysis of their historical context, their unique similarities and differences will be portrayed.
. Born to an aristocratic family around 100 B.C, Gaius Julius Caesar made many contributions to
Roman history. Caesar possessed a charming personality and an intelligent mind. As a well
educated man, he served as a skilled and successful politician, lawyer, and military general,
conquering much land for the Roman Empire. This connection with politics and the military gained
him support and popularity among the plebeians. In 59 BC., Caesar was elected consul with the
help of Crassus, a wealthy patrician, and another general, Pompey. Later, these three men formed an
alliance called the Three Triumvirate, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His preparations during his reign fueled future achievements for the commoners. According to
Plutarch, Caesar made preparations to provide merchantmen a safe as well as an easy passage to
Rome...convert marshes about Pomentinum and Setia into a plain which many thousands of men
could cultivate...construct harbours and roadsteads sufficient for the great fleets that would visit
them. Perhaps, the most providential effect he gave to the Roman people was tax alleviations and
realignment of the Roman calendar. These celebrated works won favor from the Roman plebeians,
however, filled the nobles of Rome with hate. Either envious of his fame or fear from his zealous
power, a group of conspirators ended his autocratic ways as the dictator. The main conspirators,
Gaius Cassius Longinus and Marcus Junius Brutus, assassinated Caesar in 44 BC with an artful

How Is Twilight Related To Gothic Literature
Twilight, written by Stephenie Meyer was the first part of a four book series that begun in 2005.
The story begins with a girl and a vampire falling in love, and was the first series in a while to
bring vampires back into the lime light. The girl, Elisabeth Bella Swan and the vampire Edward
Cullen, have a complicated love that although they are destined to be together, everything is
working against them to do otherwise. Throughout the work of literature, although it is a modern
day love story, Twilightdisplays many gothic characteristics in its writing including the plot and the
role of the woman character throughout the story. Just like any other supernatural creatures,
vampires originated from literature. Vampire s were first seen... Show more content on

vampires in this story do not. The natural instinct of vampires is to feed on human blood, in
which case, in Twilight the vampires have red eyes. Those which wish to be peaceful and allow
humans to live amongst them, like the Cullen s family who Edward is part of, have golden
brown eyes. When it is time for Edward to feed, his eyes turn a darker and darker brown color
and become light once his hunger is quenched by not humans, but by animals. This is also seen in
another piece of literature when the Countess from The Lady of the House of Love. She attempts

George Orwell s The Brave New World
In both texts, Nineteen Eighty Four and Brave New World it is clear from the start the societies
show a heavy reliance on state control as a means of maintaining the dystopian civilizations.
George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty Four is a powerful presentation of a dystopian society under the
influence and control of a totalitarian government. Orwell uses the character of Winston as a
vehicle to explore the extent of the governments oppressive techniques. Through clever use of free
indirect speech as the narrative structure, the reader is instantly immersed into a deprived society
under perpetual surveillance of the omniscient ruler known only as Big Brother , and the effective
but perverse methods the state uses to maintain power. In the text... Show more content on

In Brave New World, technology enables the population to be manipulated and have their values
defined from a young and impressionable age. It is the key to ultimate social control and it is
used in that way; without the advanced technology the society of Brave New World would not
be able to achieve such powerful control. Technology is necessary for all of the vital aspects of
the mass reproduction with medical interference. For example the Bokanovsky process and
hypnopaedia conditioning both rely heavily on medical and technological advances. As a result
the society is fragmented and unchanging. The plot s heavy reliance on science could be argued to
be due to Huxley s affluent background and family history within the science field. His grandfather
was nicknamed Darwin s bulldog for his support of Darwin s theories and his active role within
Biology.
In Nineteen Eighty Four technology is used very differently, it essence is still ¬¬the same
(social control) however they use it for invasive monitoring into every aspect of the citizens life. For
example Telescreens are camera esque devices which are everywhere, they are designed to receive
and transmit [information] simultaneously . As a result there [is] no way of knowing whether you
were being watched at any given moment which creates a constant feeling of unease, one which the
population learn to tolerate and accept. This further aids the totalitarian government with their
aggressive dictatorship,

Debs Arguments Against The Constitution Of The United States
During the height of WW1, tensions were rising between Americans. Some believed you must
support your country and all that it does to no avail and no protest, while some believed they
should have been able to express their basic civil rights. This side was largely led by famous
socialist, Eugene Debs who believed the people had been blindly following rule from the higher ups
deserved the chance to voice their own opinion. Debs believed that the fundamental rights of the 1st
Amendment should not be put in jeopardy no matter the situation. On the other hand, Woodrow
Wilson, 28th president believed that the only way to unify the country and have success in the war
would be to prohibit official protest against the Government and military. The Government under no

The country was built upon the Constitution, and the morals that were continuously upheld by
generations (at times poorly) that all men are equal and are to be treated as such. By taking
away the working class right to this, the whole foundation of the country was shook. All through
time, the US was born by people speaking out against flaws in the land they inhibited, the 13
Colonies may have still been in place if speaking out were forbidden and discouraged. Despite
this, the act was still passed, a law that gave far too much power to the central government and
gave them the potential to attack anyone who may disagree with them. The Espionage Act was a

Deadly Ebola Virus
Most people would say that there are two different versions of viruses. One version of viruses
infects people s computers and completely ruins them (which personally happens to me way to
often, by the way), but the other version of viruses is a lot more deadly. These viruses affect all
sorts of living things and could cause them to get very sick. Viruses replicate themselves inside
an organism s living cells and they then spread to other organisms. Viruses usually spread in a
similar fashion to how if you have the flu and you cough on somebody, then they will get sick as
well. According to a website called Virology Blog, we do not consider viruses to be living things
because, quite frankly, viruses are passive and do not fit the definition... Show more content on

The Rabies virus is, along with the Ebola virus, in Group V and the Mononegavirales order. The
Rabies virus is also in the Rhabdoviridae family and the Lyssavirus genus. According to
Wikipedia, the Rabies virus can affect both humans and animals. The Rabies virus can spread by
organisms coming into contact with the saliva of an animal that has the Rabies virus. This could
also work with the saliva of a human that has the Rabies virus, but it is a little bit less common.
How the Rabies virus spreads was first discovered in the year 1932, when a Government
Bacteriologist from Trinidad in the West Indies named Joseph Lennox Pawan found out that
vampire bats that had the Rabies virus could actually spread the Rabies virus to other animals and
humans. The Rabies virus itself was first discovered about a year before this and by the same
Government Bacteriologist, Joseph Lennox Pawan. In September 1931, he discovered sharply
outlined pathognomonic inclusion bodies called Negri bodies, named after an Italian pathologist
named Adelchi Negri, in the brain of a bat with unusual habits and

Jason Derulo s Song The Other Side
What does an individual characterize as how a song can define themselves? Jason Derulo s song
The Other Side can define an American individual s longing to find someone else to complete
themselves. An American individual is someone who falls in love without even trying. It begins
with the friendship of two people, then slowly escalates to something more meaningful. If the
individuals agree it is the right move for them to become a couple, ignoring the feeling of doubt
and the fear of losing the other one, then it will happen. Yet, sometimes everything falls into place
as if it were meant to be. Furthermore, Jason Derulo elaborates on the contrasting ideas most
individuals face with whether or not to take a step further with the relationship.
It is human nature for individuals to come in contact with the opposite sex and befriend one another

Case Study Uber
UBER S DISRUPTIVE INNOVATION STRATEGIES [15]
Let us take a look at the strategies that it employed, leading to disruption in the taxi industry.
1.Elimination of various transaction costs
The taxi industry used to have monopoly on the transport industry which allowed them to set
their own fare rates and charges. Therefore the passengers had no choice but to take up these
additional costs along with their base fare. Under Uber all such transaction costs has been
removed. Since it is done mainly through the mobile app no charges has to be paid when
reserving a car. As from the drivers side, they are their own boss. They do not have to rent out a
medallion and undertake all the costs that come from it to drive a cab. Uber allows them to use ...

Passengers can reserve their ride even if they have not yet arrived at the location where they will
be picked up, and it certainly lessens the hassle of having to reserve their ride later.
4. Variable or flexible (and often more affordable) pricingmodel
Uber is not responsible to any fare regulation, so pricing is flexible. Uber argues that it is a
ridesharing service, not a taxi company. As such, it is not covered by taxi regulations, which
includes imposing pre approved prices or fare rates. Therefore, it can pretty much raise its prices
or lower the rates according to the demand for the service. This is a flexibility that is not present in
taxi companies, whose pricing is governed by legislation.
The initial impression of many people is that using Uber service is very expensive; however, in
the long run, it can actually be the more affordable option. This is because Uber does not pay
taxes, and it is also exempt from being subjected to licensing fees.
The pricing model of Uber also offers transparency, which is not something that can be said of
traditional taxi service providers. Passengers using Uber are already made aware beforehand of
their estimated fare, and the app also allows them to compare the prices across several other
applications. Comparison is made easier, instead of having to look up price lists of traditional taxi

Biography Of Dentro De Nuestras De Diarias
Dentro de nuestras actividades diarias estГЎ la resoluciГіn de conflictos; los conflictos son parte de
nuestra vida y de nuestras relaciones interpersonales. El conflicto puede ser, segГєn la Real
Academia EspaГ±ola (n.d.): Un apuro, problema, cuestiГіn, una lucha, pelea, o simplemente una
situaciГіn desgraciada y de difГcil salida.

Stereotypes In Language Arts
Language arts Essay
The definition of stereotype is a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a
particular type of person or thing. Many characters are stereotyped in this novel because of the
image of god and the beliefs of blasphemies. Joseph is stereotyped very well, some examples are
cold hearted, strong willed and bad tempered. Joseph is David s father, is the priest of the town, he
is strongly against blasphemies.
Cold hearted describes Joseph as a very abusive father and has no sympathy for his son David.
When Sophie s secret was let out David had a huge secret to hold for everyone mainly against his
father who is against blasphemies, later in the story Sophie s 6 toes secret gets let out and her family
leaves town, David arrives late that night depressed that his friend left and Joseph questions
David why he was out and what s going on. David responds as I don t know trying to hide Sophie s

Pros And Cons Of Deism
My opinions on Deism are very mixed. I can see why it a solid option for people to think because, it
can seem like a more logical approach on life and is a belief that requires little faith. It is more of a
way of thinking than a way of living life, but also I can see a few cracks in their system. This
may sound a little absurd, but it seems like a cover of up somebody s interest in God that is not
fully ready for the commitment of living by faith. It could also be somebody scared to change
their life or be viewed differently because of the belief they have chosen. But, whatever the reason

It can be understood that social networking sites can only do so much to ensure the age of their
participants, but that doesn t mean that they shouldn t try harder to make the process of applicants
more secure. One suggestion may be to have to use a credit card upon registration, so that those

therefore, lawsuits should be virtually non existent since the website has done everything in its

The Incident Of An Oxygen Mask

Russell Grohmann, Mr. Whitelock called interrupting my previous thoughts.
Here, I uttered back.
After attendance, the flight attendant came out and gave us safety procedures.
During the flight please keep your seat buckled until told otherwise and in case of emergency an
oxygen mask will come down from above your seats. Before helping anyone else, please, secure
your own mask. Thank you. she stated in a monotone voice, then walked to the back of the plane.
The plane took off and William, who constantly picked on my at school for both my appearance
and diction, decided to spark up a conversation.
Hey Piggy, how do you feel about the move? he asked bitterley, I ve heard Australia is amazing.
I m glad that we are moving to a safer place, but Australia is over 9,000 miles away and will be a

Radiometric Dating Essay
Issues with dating techniques Most experts cannot agree as to when exactly Sahul was colonized.
Most of this debate stems from how accurate the various dating methods are, when aging
archaeological evidence. One method that proves beneficial to items such as pottery is known as
thermoluminescence. This is a type of procedure is used when determining the age of sedimentary
crystals (Webb, 1998:749). Another technique for dating is known as radiometric dating, or 14C.
Unfortunately, this technique is considered unreliable when dating objects greater than 40,000
years (Allen, 2001:952; O Connell and Allen, 2004:837). There has been a new calibration curve in

Peanut and tree nut allergies have always been a problem when going out to eat. It s no different
for schools. In the recent rise of 8% of children in the United States being diagnosed with a food
allergy, some schools are considering removing peanuts and tree nuts from their school menu. Not
only does it remove the risk of a fatal or minor allergic reactions to peanuts and tree nuts, it also
removes an important part of non allergic kids palette. Not to mention, it saves smaller kids from
falling into the unknown before they even realize it.
Firstly, removing peanuts and tree nuts from our school would remove the risk of allergic kids

School diets are already restricted to having low fats and sugars, and higher amounts of healthy
food. This sounds all right in the long run, however many kids aren t getting that boost of energy

and decreasing the enjoyment of the meal.
Lastly, it saves smaller children from falling into their own trap when they aren t paying attention.
In the younger parts of elementary school, many kids with peanut related allergies may not know

unrealisticness. The Darren Shane Saga combines the real world and the vampire world in not
only a way that is interesting to the reader, but also realistic. The way that the series is put

therefore keeping the reader hooked to the series.
In most movies/books today the end can be expected from the beginning, but in this series the

decisions leads to the decision that Darren shall partake in the Trials of Death ( trials in which
vampire generals, something like congress, and vampire princes must take in order to gain their

hardest situations, but Darren Shan twists this standard definition of a story and makes it to
where Darren does survive but not without scars and burns and amputation almost. Darren is
forced to flee by one of his close friends Kurda Smahlt to avoid death but when fleeing from the

brief yet profound insight into the deceiving nature of humans; how we give a calm, collected
front full of light and purity, yet beneath the surface we are in truth dark and inevitably mortal.
The Knight portrays what every man, woman and child must inevitably decide on: to expose their
true face or to hide behind a false mask to please others. The initial line A knight rides into the

quivering pile of fat, robed with rags and tatters which clothe him beneath the metal suit. The
knight is no different from any other man, the battle wears his nerves to ribbons despite his
radiant appearance. He is nervous about the outcome of the battle, whether he will live to charge

The Application Of Measuring And Improving Quality
American Quality Experts
The application of measuring and improving quality in the United States have been heavily

Walter Shewhart Walter Shewhart, Ph.D., earned both a bachelor s and master s degree from the

An interesting insight into the basis for this idea is that there is no knowledge with interpretation
of data (Mauleon Bergman, 2009). Nearly 50 years after his death, researchers are continuing to
incorporate Shewhart s principles in an effort to improve quality in healthcare. In a recently
published paper, control charts were used to identify patients who developed adverse outcomes
following elective colon resection (Fry, Pine, Jones Meimbah, 2012). These patients may have
experienced a special cause variation resulting in an increased length of stay in the hospital. An
awareness of the factors that may contribute to the occurrence of these variations may lead to
improved outcomes and decreased costs.
W. Edwards Deming William Edwards Deming earned his bachelor degree in electrical
engineering from the University of Wyoming. He subsequently earned his master s degree as well
as his doctoral degree in mathematics and physics from the University of Colorado and Yale,
respectively. This background in science and mathematics served as his foundation for statistics.
Deming worked extensively in Japan after World War II and was recognized by the Deming

The Rwandan Genocide And The Genocide
Always Regret that Rwanda thing The Rwandan Genocide, triggered by the murder of Rwandan
President Habyarimana on April 9, 1994, was the fastest, if not most barbarous bloodbath in human
history, and was carried out with little to no intervention or aid force from any of the many capable
Western governments, such as the United States. Though these administration s may claim that
they were unable to intervene due to lack of warning signs and insufficient information; those
statements are false. The United States government refused to intervene in the Rwandan genocide
due to its economic disinterest, political indifference, and pure African prejudice, completely
ignoring the obvious signs of the genocide. Rwandais a small African country of 10,169 square
miles with a population of approximately 8,380,000 (before the genocide). As an agricultural nation,
Rwanda was economically dependent on the harvesting of crops such as rice, coffee, and maize.
Though the nation may have been dependent on these agricultural exports to the United States (and
other Western powers), the US unfortunately was not entirely dependent on Rwanda as these
products were also traditionally received from Brazil, Columbia, and other larger African countries.
Prior to the control of other western powers, the country was at peace; however, all this changed
after Rwanda came under control of the countries Germany and Belgium. Unfortunately, Germans

The s Bargain That Made Us Rethink Pseudoscience
The Faustian Bargain That Made Us Rethink Pseudoscience: Alchemical Attributes in Faust and
Aspects of Life Now, I totally understand that most everyday people aren t familiar with the term
alchemy . This is expected since this 16th century practice has become a remnant of the past. Those
aware of alchemyare either spiritually inclined or indulged in the various themes in literature. Even
for individuals who do have a general knowledge of alchemy, their generalizations often reflect
those of the Catholic Church. This obscured view that religion associates with alchemy discourages
a deeper interpretation of the subject and isolates it from the minds of others. We must study the
origin of alchemy to fully understand the multiple perspectives on the subject today. Originating in
Egypt, alchemy was linked with metallurgy, pharmacy, and glassmaking (Economist 85). Alchemy
gained most its followers in the 12th century when alchemy transitioned into Europe. Dr. Principe
described alchemy as having strong links with philosophy while the majority of people linked the
practice with chrysopoeia, or the transformation of metals into gold (Economist 85). Consequently,
the masses developed an unfavorable assessment on alchemy which caused the practice to be
banned in many countries. Many chymists quickly isolated themselves from alchemy but did not
consider the alchemical process as fallacious (Economist 85). Why did many famous alchemists do
this? Referring back to Dr. Principe,

Different Characters In William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying
In William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying the story is told from different characters creating many
different perspectives. All though every character has a voice, they are not all created to
intelligent and sympathetic voices. Faulkner controls which characters we closely identify with
by the amount of time he devoted to the characters, the number of entries the person had and the
attitude that is given to these characters. The first deciding factor in which characters the reader
would closely identify with is how much time Faulkner devoted to each character. Some
characters in the book were meant to talk more and we were supposed to get more information
from them compared to others. Darl is a good example of this because his chapters are thoroughly
developed with complex sentences and better thought out ideas. Because of the voice that
Faulkner gave Darl, we easily connect to him and have a better sense of who he is as a character.
Not only is Darl one of the better educated children, he is also an omniscient narratorwhich enables
the reader hear a different perspective of the same event but from a character who isn t directly
experiencing that event. The opposite of Darl is Dewey Dell. Dewey Dell is not educated and does
not have strong sentence structure in her chapters which is how Faulkner controlled how easily we

easier to understand and a higher education that would

Links Between Organisational Objectives And Personal...
Personal development objectives are affected by organisations goals, as companies will want to
steer their employees in a direction that should meet their corporate strategy and link into the
mission statement. However, personal objectives and organisational objectives should tie in
together and have a common goal, which should meet the needs of both participants (Dransfield,

Comparing Women In Hinduism And Christianity
Throughout history women have been treated as objects. Although it has never been a better time
to be a woman, people today treat women with disrespect. A reason women are treated this way is
because of religion and the societies that surround them. Some religions have put women down and
morphed the image of women to fulfill their religious views. Two of these aforementioned religions
are Hinduism and Christianity. These religions have made out women to be lower than men in both
similar and different ways. Hinduism and Christianity put women in a negative light and it effects
the women in their communities.
Like most religions the perception of women has evolved over time. Sometimes it was for the
better other times it is for the worse. An example of this is exemplified in Hinduism. According to

equals of men in almost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

1 Corinthians 11:3 *
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman [is]
the man; and the head of Christ [is] God. (And many more)
Unfortunately, some people in the faith believe that women are automatically sinners because of
Eve eating the fruit and due to the aforementioned verses. Although the severity in the
discrimination isn t as overt as in Hinduism, there are still issues that affect Christian women today.
The history of Christianity would have had a very different development if it had not been for the
generous support of many women... who played an effective and precious role in spreading the

It is important when thinking about creating a team building experience for a team in your

READING SUMMARY/REFLECTION (SOC 802)
Topic: Critical Sociological Theory
INTRODUCTION
The critical theory reading reminds me of the idea of Frankenstein s monster . This idea
describes any process that sets up to destroy itself. It helps us to appreciate the links in the
building blocks of any process and how those links create weaknesses that unravel the same
process. As it relates to critical theory, we will see quite clearly how the theory builds up and
eventually collapse as we study its evolution.
I am attracted to critical theory first of all due to its links with Marxism. For me, Marxism is the
exact model of what a theory should be. It describes, explains and predicts the outcome of a
specific social situation. While the processes prescribed may be contestable in fact, every idea
should be contestable , the fact that it attempts to fulfill all aspects of a theory makes Marxism the
all time great. But this reading is not about Marxism, it is about critical theory. So, what is critical
theory? How is the theory applied in society? What are the major ideas that it draw from? What are
the major flaws in the theory and how has the theory itself contributed to its downfall?
CONCEPTUALIZING CRITICAL THEORY
Critical theory is an idea that speaks to the individual desire for achieving success as defined by
the individual and not the society. It lends itself more to finding out why there are paradoxes in
society.

United States Government Expansion Essay
In the last century and a half, the United States Government has grown significantly in size, scope,

presidential programs and how those programs affected domestic policy, and the foreign policies
that were a result of imperialism, nationalism, and the many conflicts that the nation became
involved in were the biggest catalysts attributing to this progressive development in the government.
These effects have shaped the government from the vision of the Founding Fathers into what it is

US protection from Asian countries and the need for a Pacific base were the reasons for getting

Roman Arena
During the study abroad trip to Italy, I had the opportunity of visiting another city, Verona. One
of the first stops that were made as a class was the Arena. Not only is the Arena the best
preserved Roman monument in Verona, but it was built in the first century AD. The reason
behind this cultural monument being a favorite was due to the way it was not broken down and
once I stepped foot into the center of the arena, I felt as if I had become apart of what took place
years ago within it. Even though the arena is well preserved, a few changes had been made to
the center in order for it to keep up with modern day culture. The name, Arena, originated from
its central arena that was covered in sand. This famous arena held many gladiator fights when it
was first built and now, to keep in touch with the modern day shows that are held in colesseums,
operas are hosted. A fun fact about the arena is it was originally built outside of the city walls. It
was built in that location to make it easier for people from outside of the city to find it. However,
an additional reason for the location was due to the crowded people throwing riots and... Show more

The higher I went on the rows, I could feel the energy of the people chanting on the jousts and
fights. It was almost as if I had become apart of the people that used to come alive in the arena
before the modern day shows. In addition to becoming apart of the life of the people in the Middle
Ages, I began to draw my attention towards the center of the arena to notice if I could actually
imagine and hear the people chanting throughout the different events in time to experience what
took place in this famous Arena and not have to pretend in my mind. As I made my way to the
bottom row, I had wished the openings in the rows were not closed off so that I could expand my
visualization with what used to within those

Benefits of working in IP teams Benefits of working in IP teams are numerous; you actually
have someone to consult with regarding your patient to establish treatment ideas and how to
progress the patient as much as possible. Also one may have noticed a deficit or skill you didn t,
which increases the ability to treat the patient as a whole. In an IP team, you get to see what
other therapist is doing during their treatment sessions, which will give you ideas to
individualize for your own patients to increase the progress. Also you have new graduates who
have new and creative ideas, but you have the seasoned therapist who can show you tricks of the
trade to assist with achieving desired goals. Working in this setting you have therapist who have
different strong points in different areas, therefore you know who to consult with regards to
different conditions or injuries with patients (C.Young, personal communication, June 3, 2015).
Challenges of working in IP teams The challenges of working in IP teams the interviewee notice
is that when you and your partner do not have the same work ethic, as well as agreement on
treatment style to best suit the patient. Sometimes while working in an IP team, some healthcare
providers may have the tendency to take over because one may not be doing what you want or feel
is correct for the patient. A lot of times you do not want to step on other therapist toes but you know

Essay on Ducati

REV. MARCH 8, 2002
GIOVANNI GAVETTI
Ducati
By the end of 2000, Federico Minoli had won his battle. Over the past five years, the turnaround i
artist as Forbes magazine dubbed him had transformed a company on the verge of bankruptcy into
one of the most profitable motorcycle manufacturers in the world; a mechanical concern into a
global brand; a fast motorcycle into a symbol of Italian design and tradition, extreme
performance, and technical excellence. Under Minoli, Ducati had enjoyed explosive growth and
profitability. Revenues had quadrupled since 1996; EBITDA had grown from 33.4 million Euros
in 1997 to around 60.0 million Euros in 2000; the market share had gone from 5.1% in the sport
bikes segment in 1997 to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1997, BMW introduced its own interpretation of a cruiser, which enjoyed a stunning commercial
success. Touring bikes were larger motorcycles equipped for longer rides and greater comfort.
Within this segment, the three largest players were BMW, Harley Davidson, and Honda. Sport bikes
had lighter frames, a more forward seated position, and emphasized speed, acceleration, and
minimal comfort. This niche, which Ducati identified as its relevant market (see Exhibit 3), could
be further disaggregated into four sub segments: hyper sport (extreme performance, closely
derived from the racing world), super sport (high performance, good handling and low weight),
naked (good performance and urban riding) and sport touring (speed and handling, married with
comfort for longer rides). Japanese companies dominated this niche, while European firms such as
Ducati, BMW, and Triumph also vied for market share. Harley Davidson entered the sport bike
market by acquiring Buell Motorcycles in 1998. This segment was Ducati s reference market.
Customers
A wide variety of individuals, with equally different tastes, bought and rode motorcycles (Exhibit 4).
Knee down, or racing aficionados, sought extreme performance and functionality (e.g., reliability
and technical excellence). Easy riders lay at the other extreme, and associated the motorcycle with a
particular lifestyle.

The Performance Of Sprinklers For Tunnel Protection Essay
One of the early test programs to study the performance of sprinklers for tunnel protection was
conducted in the Ofenegg tunnel in Switzerland in 1965. The tunnel was an old single track
railway tunnel, 4 m wide at the base and 6 m high. Three fire sizes obtained with aircraft petrol
fuel were used in the test with following specifications: (a) 100L and 6.6 m2 pool size; (b) 500 L
and 47.5 m2 pool size; and (c) 1000 L and 95 m2 pool size. Two lines of sprinklers were installed on
the ceiling of the tunnel. The water capacity was 19 L/(min m2). There was no information on the
sprinkler system activation time.
The fires developed very quickly during the tests and the maximum temperature was reached 1 to 2
minutes after ignition. Temperatures in the tunnel were quite high with maximum temperatures
near the ceiling ranging from 1200 degree Celsius to 1400 degree Celsius prior to sprinkler
activation.
The sprinklers were able to extinguish all of the fires within a short period of time. But, a
significant quantity of hot steam was obtained during fire suppression. Visibility was found to
decrease because of hot steam and cooling of the smoke layer by the sprinklers discharge. Smoke
and hot steam were pushed a considerable distance from the fire site, resulting in higher
temperatures than without sprinklers at some locations in the tunnel.
After the fire was extinguished, the fuel continuously evaporated with the vapour spreading along
the tunnel. The vapour was re ignited in the

Analysis Of Julie Mehretu s Paintings
Julie Mehretu s paintings are loosely termed history paintings by Douglas Fogle and called
psychogeographies by the artist herself. A viewer is supposed to find something in themselves
much like exploring a city and figuring things out for one s own self interest. Mehretu is quoted
as saying my aim is to have a picture that appears one way from a distance almost like a
cosmology, city, or universe from afar but then when you approach the work, the overall image
shatters into numerous other pictures, stories, and events. Historically drawing is seen as inferior
to paintingwhich makes it interesting that Julie Mehretu would employ so much drawing into
her canvases because drawing is important to architectural drawings. How does the mapping
nature of Julie Mehretu s paintings convey a sense of identity in a very political nature and how
is it a representation of the post colonialist world in which we inhabit? Scholars all seem to agree
that Mehretu s canvases are maps, but what do they seek to accomplish? My analysis of Mehretu
s Stadia III will use a biographical and post colonialist methodology to explore the ways in which
Mehretu s own upbringing and how the very nature of her mapmaking, though very artificial, can
be seen as a way of both bringing us together and giving those groups that have previously been
neglected throughout history a voice.

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) also introduced the ATM
facility in 1999. Different studies have been conducted by the internal management of this bank
to have an idea about customer satisfaction about various banking products of HSBC, but no
study has been undertaken to identify the level of customer satisfaction with respect of various
aspects of HSBC ATM. But as day by day the use of ATM is increasing, it is important to make a
study to gain insight about the level of customer satisfaction with respect to various aspects of
HSBC ATM and to identify the problem areas and proposed recommendation leading to
improvement. This study is such an attempt. The main objectives of the study can be stated as
below: (a) To examine the level of nonstaff customer satisfaction associated with various aspects
of HSBC ATM (such as promptness of card delivery, the performance of HSBC ATM, the service
quality of ATM personnel etc.); (b) To examine the level of staff customer satisfaction associated
with various aspects of HSBC ATM; and (c) To make policy recommendations to improve the
service quality of HSBC ATM. 1.3 Rationale of the Study: The findings of the study will provide
information to use in analyzing the current ATM situation of HSBC. As the use of ATM services is
increasing day by day, on the part of the bank, it is important to have an idea about what the ATM
users are thinking about various features

During George Wallace s Stand in the Schoolhouse Door protest, Forrest stands curiously in the
background, more interested in his surroundings rather than the actual protest. During the
Vietnam War, Forrest never questions the morality or the agenda of the U.S. government, and
receives the Congressional Medal of Honor for his efforts. His entire experience during the
Vietnam War can be summed up into one conversation between him and the Drill Sergeant:
Gump! What s your sole purpose in this Army? To do whatever you tell me, Drill Sergeant!
(Gump 1995) Still, the most dismaying portion of impassive responses glorified in this film can
be contributed to Forrest s careless involvement in the anti Vietnam War rally lead by Abbie
Hoffman. He was entirely clueless as to the purpose of the anti war movements. His view of Abbie
Hoffman s role? There was this man, giving a little talk... And every time he said the F word,
people, for some reason, well, they d cheer. Though the focus of the film is directed towards Forrest
Gump, the effects of social forces are most often expressed and implied through Jenny Curran.
Forrest s generally unobservant nature contrasts harshly with Jenny s forthright and independent
character. Without Jenny, we would have a collectively unrealistic and uncertain portrayal of many
occurrences that contributed to the structure of today s society. Unlike Forrest, Jenny was

Q1. How and why has the express mail industry structure evolved in recent years? How have the
changes affected small competitors?
The Express mail industry in the United States had a volume of $16 17 billion on expedited
shipments in the year 1996. In the years before shipment volumes has risen 15 20% per year.
However due to higher competition prices have fallen which resulted in a rise of only 10 15% in
total revenues. As an example of this stands the revenue and the operating margin of the biggest
player that make up 45% of the market. Federal Express revenue has more than quadrupled in the

is BAX Global who specialized in business to business heavy cargo. Earlier BAX Global was
focused on the market for overnight letters, which resulted in large losses, till the strategy was
shifted towards heavy cargo. The company RPS does not offer overnight delivery but focuses on
two day delivery and a cheap group network with a sophisticated information technology, targeting
price sensitive business customers.
Q2. How has Airborne survived, and recently prospered, in express mail industry?
In the fife years prior 1997 Airborne Express has grown faster than its two bigger rivals, giving it
about 16% of domestic express mail market share in 1997. Airborne has achieved this by a couple
of measures that allowed it to keep its costs down and guaranteed Airborne Express success in its
niche.
One of the key decisions of Airborne Express was to target regularly shipping business customers
and purposely passing over residential deliveries and infrequent shippers. Ray Berry, vice
president of Field Services Administration, commented this selection of customers: Since we can t

Rhetorical Analysis Of Abraham Lincoln s The Gettysburg...
In the nineteenth century, the United States of America existed as two separate entities at war with
one another. Because the founding fathers left a pressing matter unaddressed and the government
incomplete, the country they worked to establish fell into war with itself. In his speech The
Gettysburg Address, Abraham Lincolndiscusses the goals of the founding fathers in establishing the
United States. He implies another meaning to these goals to encourage the Union troops, those
fighting to abolish slavery, to continue the fight. He also challenges them to honor their fellow
soldiers who sacrificed their lives by continuing to fight. Lincoln utilizes the mission of the founding
fathers and the recent fallen to encourage the unification of the nation. To establish the importance
of unity, Lincoln reemphasizes the purpose of founding the nation; however, he implies a different
meaning. In the context of the speech, Lincoln is encouraging the Union s troops to continue the
fight for a united nation; the goal of the Union is to abolish slavery and establish equal rights.
Lincoln redefines the founding father s statement that all men are created equal, (Lincoln, 2014, p.
115). He implies that this definition includes all men no matter the race, while the original purpose
only included white men. The war that tore apart the nation was because of racial inequality. This
definition aligns with the mission of the Union. Without an understanding of some form, the nation
the founding fathers brought forth on this continent...conceived in Liberty, (Lincoln, 2014, p. 115)
would cease to exist. Liberty means that nothing oppresses the nation; however, unequal rights for
the citizens restricts this liberty. Therefore, the nation the founding fathers envisioned cannot exist
while slavery exists. By reiterating and refocusing the mission of the founding fathers, Lincoln
explains the reason for unification. Lincoln expands on the significance of the sacrifices the citizens
recently made for the betterment of the nation. Lincoln gives The Gettysburg Addressstanding on
the battlefield soldiers died on to dedicate the grounds as a memorial to them and to honor the
sacrifices they made. While remembering the fallen, he

Ashoka The Greatest Promoter Of Buddhism
Emperor Ashoka of the Mauryan Empire was not just a ruler, in fact, he was not just anything.
Ashoka Maurya was an emperor that built the largest empire in Indian history, paved the road for
Buddhism s entrance as a major world religion, and set historically high standards for what it
means to be a great leader. Many people believe that he was just a tyrannical despot that enjoyed
bloodshed and war. However, Ashoka went through a spiritual revival that lead him to become a
great leader, shown through how he became the greatest promoter of Buddhism (after Buddha
himself), gave up war, and issued multiple edicts that acted in favor of his citizens health and
lifestyles, as well as neighboring empires. Therefore, Ashoka the Greatwas an inspirational leader
that drove the Mauryan Empire to its ultimate zenith by using his guidance qualities, like
compassion, proactivity and trustworthiness, as well as his visionary optimism that helped put his
remarkable goals into action. Ashoka s original methods of ruling his empire followed the
mannerisms that of his lineage, especially as of his grandfather s ways: efficiently but cruelly. To
expand the Mauryan Empire, Ashoka maintained a militaristic approach, which consisted of
sadistic laws against crime. He forced his people into submission through fear, and his cruel and
callous ways of ruling earned him the nicknames, Ashoka the Terrible and Ashoka the Fierce . Both
of these nicknames also correlated with Ashoka s passions

Debate Avoidance Methods
When planning your estate, you may want to consider a strategy that will avoid probate. The
probate process is time consuming, expensive, and at times, contentious. So, to save money and
spare your loved ones from the hassles of probate, plan to avoid probate. Probate avoidance
methods are state specific. Therefore, when planning your estate, understand that some property
may have to go through probate if not protected by a trust. In the book 8 Ways to Avoid Probate
by Nolo (2016), Nolo provides, in detail, the common probate avoidance methods and the states
in which these methods are available. Probate Avoidance Methods Provided by Nolo: The
following is an overview of the probate avoidance methods provided by Nolo: 1)Set up payable on

procedures for small estates If you are able to move enough property from your estate at the time
of your death, you may achieve small estate status for your state. Some states have special
procedures to transfer property in estates worth very little. In general, if the property that has to
go through probate is worth little, then the state may waive probate in favor of an affidavit to
transfer property. The above methods are great for avoiding probate, but the above methods also
reduce exposure to the estate income tax. The more property you move to your beneficiaries the
less property available to earn income for the estate after death. So, avoiding probate not only
saves on expenses and hassles, it will also reduce the tax exposure for the

US Budget Deficit Essays
The annual United States budget has been steadily rising over the past decade. The projected
federal budget for the 2012 fiscal year is going to be $3.7 million dollars compared to the $1.9
trillion in 2001. The 2012 budget is just a hundred million less than the 2011 year budget,
according to the Congressional Budget Office. The reason for this ongoing rise in the federal
budget can be acclaimed too the few financial crises that the country has faced. Beginning with
September 11th attacks, to the housing bubble bursting, to the recession hit in 2007. The
combination of all these major financial breakdowns, along with the hundreds of other fiscal
responsibilities that the government holds has lead America into a very big budget deficit.... Show

Even though it can be seen that the problem lies in the fact that there is just not enough money to
go around, the cause is rooted much deeper. It can all be traced back to the amount of money the
government actually receives as revenue. The government is just a big business and the way it
makes money is taxing the people that it governs over. The government just doesn t have any other
way of making money.
Tax revenue accounts for about 75% of the federal budget. During the 2010 fiscal year, the
United States government collected about $2.16 trillion dollars in tax revenue. About 42% of
these taxes are from individual income taxes; another 40% from Social Security taxes and the
rest are split between excise, estate, and corporate taxes (cbo.gov). The United States uses what is
called the progressive tax system. Which means the more you make, the more taxes you pay. Tax
revenue has become a very hot topic in the past few months, mostly due to the fact of a recent
group of people who call themselves Occupy Wall Street .
These people protest on Wall Street in New York on an everyday basis. They sleep there, eat there
and basically do whatever they want. This protest does not have a unified cause, but the general
conclusion that can be drawn from everyone is

  • 2. Team Training Essay After I examining your training records it s evident that you re extremely smart. You dominated your end of course exam with a 92% to become a 5 level as an Aircraft Structural Maintainer. However, looking at your hands on training completion date I began to question if you truly understood the material. I also questioned if you received the proper training. Unlike the average completion dates I ve seen in the past, you completed your 5 level tasks in roughly 16 months versus the norm of 8 10 months. On the contrary, my perception of how you affected the team dynamic in the shop was that of an executor. Whenever tasks were brought to your attention, you were always overly anxious to execute the plan in a timely manner and identified... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why did I recommend this specific additional duty to you? The reason I am recommending this additional duty to you is because I sincerely believe you will excel in this position. This program requires a very specific structure and the responsibility it carries is very is significant. Handling chemicals with the right personal protective equipment is crucial to the safety of the personnel in your section. Based on your team role as an executor, I think you would soar in this additional duty because of your ability to follow specific regulations and your high standards. You ve always been quick to say No when members wanted you to do a task that wasn t justified by technical data. I foresee you having zero issues ensuring the chemicals that are used continuously are labelled correctly and cleaned before and after use. Which is an issue we both have seen continuously occur over the past few months. It seems like every few weeks the shop acquires a Quality Assurance (QA) fail for improper storage of HAZ material. As aggravating as that can get, if you fill the HAZ Material and Waste position it will allow you to flex your cognitive preference as an adaptor. In doing so, you will be able to make improvements to the program in areas you deem fit based on AFIs, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Occupational, Safety and Health ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Caused The Great Depression In America In 2008, an enormous global financial crash had occurred impacting millions of people around the world. It was, according to many people, the worst financial crash after the Great Depression in 1930. One of the main causes of both depressions was people s lack of knowledge and understanding of finance. Becoming financially literate can allow people to be more prosperous in the future by saving more money and help reduce the chances of falling into a downward spiral financially. Furthermore, many people do not know the difference between wants and needs, which was a lesson I learned in third grade. Today, Americans are $900 billion dollars into debt, which they have to pay throughout their lifetime. This troubles millions of people because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Withdrawal Analysis Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment versus Non Clinical Withdrawal Assessment in the Reduction of Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms Alcohol will always have a long standing in history due to its tumultuous history and the human consumption. Alcohol abuse and dependence are prevalent health problems in the United States affecting 6% to 8% of the population (Wayne, Wong and Lee, 2015) Alcohol withdrawal increases the length of stay in the hospital and complicates 40% of hospital admissions (Sen, et Al, 2016). The nurse is the first line contact that will assess the patient and has an integral part in helping to reduce the symptoms and length of stay with the proper assessment and implementation of care since alcohol withdrawal can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Abstract. The abstract is located at the beginning of the article. The abstract is very concise and to the point by stating the problem which is that there is limited data to effectively provide therapy for patients in intensive care units (ICU), with a diagnosis of alcohol withdrawal syndrome (AWS). The methods used in the article were a before and after study for medical ICU patient, while incorporating a new protocol in place of the Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Alcohol. The abstract also states the results of the study, and its conclusion. Introduction. As the article continues with the introduction, the introduction states the problem, which is, that, currently there are no guidelines for the management of AWS in the ICU patients. For nurses to properly perform the CIWA assessment, patients must be conscience and able to answer questions regarding the severity of the illness, making it hard for nurses to either over or under sedate the patient causing further complications, building a persuasive argument for the new study. Towards the end of the introductory paragraph, the article states the hypothesis, by implementing this new protocol would result in shorter duration of AWS treatments and its associated complication. • 5. Similarities Between Lincoln And Julius Caesar Betrayal in the political world prevails and has considerably changed the course of world history. Both Julius Caesar and Abraham Lincoln, two of the most prominent leaders, experienced such betrayal. Despite this, the lives of these two men share more remarkable similarities. Through an analysis of their historical context, their unique similarities and differences will be portrayed. . Born to an aristocratic family around 100 B.C, Gaius Julius Caesar made many contributions to Roman history. Caesar possessed a charming personality and an intelligent mind. As a well educated man, he served as a skilled and successful politician, lawyer, and military general, conquering much land for the Roman Empire. This connection with politics and the military gained him support and popularity among the plebeians. In 59 BC., Caesar was elected consul with the help of Crassus, a wealthy patrician, and another general, Pompey. Later, these three men formed an alliance called the Three Triumvirate, which ... Perhaps, the most providential effect he gave to the Roman people was tax alleviations and realignment of the Roman calendar. The story begins with a girl and a vampire falling in love, and was the first series in a while to bring vampires back into the lime light. The girl, Elisabeth Bella Swan and the vampire Edward Cullen, have a complicated love that although they are destined to be together, everything is working against them to do otherwise. When it is time for Edward to feed, his eyes turn a darker and darker brown color and become light once his hunger is quenched by not humans, but by animals. • 8. George Orwell s The Brave New World In both texts, Nineteen Eighty Four and Brave New World it is clear from the start the societies show a heavy reliance on state control as a means of maintaining the dystopian civilizations. George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty Four is a powerful presentation of a dystopian society under the influence and control of a totalitarian government. Orwell uses the character of Winston as a vehicle to explore the extent of the governments oppressive techniques. Through clever use of free indirect speech as the narrative structure, the reader is instantly immersed into a deprived society under perpetual surveillance of the omniscient ruler known only as Big Brother , and the effective but perverse methods the state uses to maintain power. It is the key to ultimate social control and it is used in that way; without the advanced technology the society of Brave New World would not be able to achieve such powerful control. Technology is necessary for all of the vital aspects of the mass reproduction with medical interference. For example the Bokanovsky process and hypnopaedia conditioning both rely heavily on medical and technological advances. As a result the society is fragmented and unchanging. The plot s heavy reliance on science could be argued to be due to Huxley s affluent background and family history within the science field. His grandfather was nicknamed Darwin s bulldog for his support of Darwin s theories and his active role within Biology. In Nineteen Eighty Four technology is used very differently, it essence is still ¬¬the same (social control) however they use it for invasive monitoring into every aspect of the citizens life. • 9. Debs Arguments Against The Constitution Of The United States During the height of WW1, tensions were rising between Americans. Some believed you must support your country and all that it does to no avail and no protest, while some believed they should have been able to express their basic civil rights. This side was largely led by famous socialist, Eugene Debs who believed the people had been blindly following rule from the higher ups deserved the chance to voice their own opinion. Debs believed that the fundamental rights of the 1st Amendment should not be put in jeopardy no matter the situation. On the other hand, Woodrow Wilson, 28th president believed that the only way to unify the country and have success in the war would be to prohibit official protest against the Government and military. One version of viruses infects people s computers and completely ruins them (which personally happens to me way to often, by the way), but the other version of viruses is a lot more deadly. These viruses affect all sorts of living things and could cause them to get very sick. Viruses replicate themselves inside an organism s living cells and they then spread to other organisms. Viruses usually spread in a similar fashion to how if you have the flu and you cough on somebody, then they will get sick as well. According to a website called Virology Blog, we do not consider viruses to be living things because, quite frankly, viruses are passive and do not fit the definition... The Rabies virus can spread by organisms coming into contact with the saliva of an animal that has the Rabies virus. This could also work with the saliva of a human that has the Rabies virus, but it is a little bit less common. How the Rabies virus spreads was first discovered in the year 1932, when a Government Bacteriologist from Trinidad in the West Indies named Joseph Lennox Pawan found out that vampire bats that had the Rabies virus could actually spread the Rabies virus to other animals and humans. The Rabies virus itself was first discovered about a year before this and by the same Government Bacteriologist, Joseph Lennox Pawan. Jason Derulo s song The Other Side can define an American individual s longing to find someone else to complete themselves. An American individual is someone who falls in love without even trying. It begins with the friendship of two people, then slowly escalates to something more meaningful. If the individuals agree it is the right move for them to become a couple, ignoring the feeling of doubt and the fear of losing the other one, then it will happen. Yet, sometimes everything falls into place as if it were meant to be. Case Study Uber UBER S DISRUPTIVE INNOVATION STRATEGIES [15] Let us take a look at the strategies that it employed, leading to disruption in the taxi industry. 1.Elimination of various transaction costs The taxi industry used to have monopoly on the transport industry which allowed them to set their own fare rates and charges. Therefore the passengers had no choice but to take up these additional costs along with their base fare. Under Uber all such transaction costs has been removed. Variable or flexible (and often more affordable) pricingmodel Uber is not responsible to any fare regulation, so pricing is flexible. Uber argues that it is a ridesharing service, not a taxi company. As such, it is not covered by taxi regulations, which includes imposing pre approved prices or fare rates. Therefore, it can pretty much raise its prices or lower the rates according to the demand for the service. This is a flexibility that is not present in taxi companies, whose pricing is governed by legislation. The initial impression of many people is that using Uber service is very expensive; however, in the long run, it can actually be the more affordable option. This is because Uber does not pay taxes, and it is also exempt from being subjected to licensing fees. The pricing model of Uber also offers transparency, which is not something that can be said of traditional taxi service providers. Passengers using Uber are already made aware beforehand of their estimated fare, and the app also allows them to compare the prices across several other applications. This is expected since this 16th century practice has become a remnant of the past. Those aware of alchemyare either spiritually inclined or indulged in the various themes in literature. Even for individuals who do have a general knowledge of alchemy, their generalizations often reflect those of the Catholic Church. This obscured view that religion associates with alchemy discourages a deeper interpretation of the subject and isolates it from the minds of others. We must study the origin of alchemy to fully understand the multiple perspectives on the subject today. Originating in Egypt, alchemy was linked with metallurgy, pharmacy, and glassmaking (Economist 85). Alchemy gained most its followers in the 12th century when alchemy transitioned into Europe. Dr. Principe described alchemy as having strong links with philosophy while the majority of people linked the practice with chrysopoeia, or the transformation of metals into gold (Economist 85). Consequently, the masses developed an unfavorable assessment on alchemy which caused the practice to be banned in many countries. • 37. The Critical Theory Reading Reminds Me Of The Idea Of... Osazuwa Osayomwanbor 200345160 Sociology/Social Studies READING SUMMARY/REFLECTION (SOC 802) Topic: Critical Sociological Theory INTRODUCTION The critical theory reading reminds me of the idea of Frankenstein s monster . This idea describes any process that sets up to destroy itself. It helps us to appreciate the links in the building blocks of any process and how those links create weaknesses that unravel the same process. As it relates to critical theory, we will see quite clearly how the theory builds up and eventually collapse as we study its evolution. I am attracted to critical theory first of all due to its links with Marxism. For me, Marxism is the exact model of what a theory should be. It describes, explains and predicts the outcome of a specific social situation. While the processes prescribed may be contestable in fact, every idea should be contestable , the fact that it attempts to fulfill all aspects of a theory makes Marxism the all time great. But this reading is not about Marxism, it is about critical theory. So, what is critical theory? How is the theory applied in society? What are the major ideas that it draw from? What are the major flaws in the theory and how has the theory itself contributed to its downfall? CONCEPTUALIZING CRITICAL THEORY Critical theory is an idea that speaks to the individual desire for achieving success as defined by the individual and not the society. It lends itself more to finding out why there are paradoxes in society. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many contributing factors to this expansion. The quest for civil rights, presidential programs and how those programs affected domestic policy, and the foreign policies that were a result of imperialism, nationalism, and the many conflicts that the nation became involved in were the biggest catalysts attributing to this progressive development in the government. These effects have shaped the government from the vision of the Founding Fathers into what it is today. Both of these acquisitions would become a huge part of foreign policy and the need for an expanded government in the coming years. As imperialism extended the country s power and influence through diplomacy and military might, the policy of non intervention would quickly become outdated. Due to Britain and France running out of men, money, and material, the US had to get involved in World War I. This involvement brought about numerous new policies and activities by the government. The War Industries Board, Food Administration, Railway Board, and the US Shipping Board came to be. Railroads were nationalized and two new laws, the Espionage Act of 1917 and the Sedition Act of 1918, were put into effect as a result of US involvement in the war. Hawaii would become a key part of World War II with the bombing of Pearl Harbor. One of the Cold War battlefields was Alaska. Due to the Truman Doctrine and its policy of containing communism, the US gor involved in Korea and later, Vietnam. Domestic policy changes, also tied to Progressivism, were a major component of the expansion of the size, scope, and influence of the US government. The reason behind this cultural monument being a favorite was due to the way it was not broken down and once I stepped foot into the center of the arena, I felt as if I had become apart of what took place years ago within it. Even though the arena is well preserved, a few changes had been made to the center in order for it to keep up with modern day culture. This famous arena held many gladiator fights when it was first built and now, to keep in touch with the modern day shows that are held in colesseums, operas are hosted. The Performance Of Sprinklers For Tunnel Protection Essay One of the early test programs to study the performance of sprinklers for tunnel protection was conducted in the Ofenegg tunnel in Switzerland in 1965. The tunnel was an old single track railway tunnel, 4 m wide at the base and 6 m high. Three fire sizes obtained with aircraft petrol fuel were used in the test with following specifications: (a) 100L and 6.6 m2 pool size; (b) 500 L and 47.5 m2 pool size; and (c) 1000 L and 95 m2 pool size. Two lines of sprinklers were installed on the ceiling of the tunnel. The water capacity was 19 L/(min m2). There was no information on the sprinkler system activation time. The fires developed very quickly during the tests and the maximum temperature was reached 1 to 2 minutes after ignition. Temperatures in the tunnel were quite high with maximum temperatures near the ceiling ranging from 1200 degree Celsius to 1400 degree Celsius prior to sprinkler activation. The sprinklers were able to extinguish all of the fires within a short period of time. But, a significant quantity of hot steam was obtained during fire suppression. Visibility was found to decrease because of hot steam and cooling of the smoke layer by the sprinklers discharge. Smoke and hot steam were pushed a considerable distance from the fire site, resulting in higher temperatures than without sprinklers at some locations in the tunnel. After the fire was extinguished, the fuel continuously evaporated with the vapour spreading along the tunnel. The vapour was re ignited in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A viewer is supposed to find something in themselves much like exploring a city and figuring things out for one s own self interest. Mehretu is quoted as saying my aim is to have a picture that appears one way from a distance almost like a cosmology, city, or universe from afar but then when you approach the work, the overall image shatters into numerous other pictures, stories, and events. Historically drawing is seen as inferior to paintingwhich makes it interesting that Julie Mehretu would employ so much drawing into her canvases because drawing is important to architectural drawings. How does the mapping nature of Julie Mehretu s paintings convey a sense of identity in a very political nature and how is it a representation of the post colonialist world in which we inhabit? Scholars all seem to agree that Mehretu s canvases are maps, but what do they seek to accomplish? My analysis of Mehretu s Stadia III will use a biographical and post colonialist methodology to explore the ways in which Mehretu s own upbringing and how the very nature of her mapmaking, though very artificial, can be seen as a way of both bringing us together and giving those groups that have previously been neglected throughout history a voice. • 50. Rhetorical Analysis Of Abraham Lincoln s The Gettysburg... In the nineteenth century, the United States of America existed as two separate entities at war with one another. Because the founding fathers left a pressing matter unaddressed and the government incomplete, the country they worked to establish fell into war with itself. In his speech The Gettysburg Address, Abraham Lincolndiscusses the goals of the founding fathers in establishing the United States. He implies another meaning to these goals to encourage the Union troops, those fighting to abolish slavery, to continue the fight. He also challenges them to honor their fellow soldiers who sacrificed their lives by continuing to fight. Lincoln utilizes the mission of the founding fathers and the recent fallen to encourage the unification of the nation. To establish the importance of unity, Lincoln reemphasizes the purpose of founding the nation; however, he implies a different meaning. In the context of the speech, Lincoln is encouraging the Union s troops to continue the fight for a united nation; the goal of the Union is to abolish slavery and establish equal rights. Lincoln redefines the founding father s statement that all men are created equal, (Lincoln, 2014, p. 115). He implies that this definition includes all men no matter the race, while the original purpose only included white men. The war that tore apart the nation was because of racial inequality. This definition aligns with the mission of the Union. Without an understanding of some form, the nation the founding fathers brought forth on this continent...conceived in Liberty, (Lincoln, 2014, p. 115) would cease to exist. Liberty means that nothing oppresses the nation; however, unequal rights for the citizens restricts this liberty. Therefore, the nation the founding fathers envisioned cannot exist while slavery exists. By reiterating and refocusing the mission of the founding fathers, Lincoln explains the reason for unification.
