Capitalism Vs. Communism And Communism
Necati Ucev Mr. Raia Creative Writing 1 5 May 2015 Capitalism vs Communism Throughout history,
people have tested many different political systems have a better society. The most common political
systems that people have tested are monarchy, oligarchy, theocracy, aristocracy and democracy. I will
talk about capitalism and communism in this research paper. Both those systems are created to change
the economic situation. There have been a huge debate about Capitalism vs Communism. Throughout
this research paper, I am going to talk about how these different method works, advantages and
disadvantages that each of them creates Capitalism is an economic system with the right of a business
to make its own decision and operate with a profit motive and individual rights to possess and dispose
of goods, services, and resources . (1). The government who choose to use capitals system were
democratic. Adam Smith is from Scottish. He was one of the great philosopher during his time.
Because of his great work on capitalism, he is also known as the father of the capitalism. He published
a book named The Wealth of Nation in 1776.His book had so much influence on economic thinking at
that time and as well as at this time. The thesis of the book is The best way to increase the wealth of
nation is through individual decision making with minimal government interference (2). This quotes
simply states that in order to make richer and better society, there should be individual decision
making.

Question 1: Consumer Theory 1.1: In both the Marshallian and Hicksian consumer optimisation
problems, it is assumed that consumers are supposed to be rational. The main focus of these problems
are cost minimisation and utility maximisation, which play a huge part in consumer demand, but in
real life, these are not the only problems that are considered. Also, it is assumed that every consumer s
indifference curve for two goods would be the same they are very generalised models, and do not take
into account other factors. For example, not many consumers would spend their entire budget on said
goods one thing to consider would be a consumer s marginal propensity to consume and save. Though
both of the problems provide a framework and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the insurer doesn t know which agents are high risk or low risk, the company will not offer
different types of full insurance to match risk types, as high risk agents will prefer contracts that are
designed for low risk agents. To solve this, the insurer will offer low risk agents less insurance this
ensures that high risk types do not have the incentive to choose a contract for low risk customers, as
they will want more insurance, because they know they will need to claim more. This ensures that the
insurance company maintains non negative profit, as high risk individuals cost more to insure.
However, these solutions carry agency costs, because the result is less efficient than if symmetric
information was present. I believe that risk neutrality of an insurance company is a sufficient condition
for insurance to take place. Insurance companies are risk neutral to maximise expected profits,
therefore as the principal, will design contracts to achieve this, as well as making certain that the agent
picks the desired effort (i.e to prevent a bad state of the world) for that contract, and to make sure that
the agent even picks the contract in the first place. Making sure incentives are compatible, and
ensuring participation by the correct risk types, are constraints on maximising expected profits. If an
insurance company was risk averse, without the availability of symmetric information, they cannot

INTRODUCTION AND DESIGN OF THE STUDY
1.1 Introduction
Over the last few decades information technology has played an important role in Indian economy. It
has affected all the industries especially the banking industry and has provided a way for the banks to
differentiate their products and services. The traditional way of financial services delivered to
customers called the branch based operations which had been used by the banks for more than 200
years, has been replaced by the advent of multiple technologies and application. For instance,
Automated Teller Machine (ATM) displaced cashier tellers, telephone represented by call centers
replaced the bank branch, the internet replaced mail, credit cards and electronic cash replaced bank
transactions. The reason was the numerous key advantages that banks could gain by providing
electronic banking services. In this way they had lower transactions cost, 24 hour trading, more
extended business territory and also increased efficiency in daily banking process. The Banking Sector
is also facing very stiff competition. In order to succeed such competition, they must offer a wide
array of products with the latest technology. At present many banks and financial institutions are
actively developing new electronic banking products for their customers throughout the world
(Alagheband 2006) . The key players of banking industry are its customers and all the efforts made by
the banks are to satisfy the desirable needs of

Character Analysis Of June Cleaver
After several days spent meticulously filtering and interpreting the poorly translated web of
psychological theories, Katharine Cook Briggs finally decides to unwind on her recliner. She calls her
daughter, Isabel, eager to hear about the newest rendition of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, test
form D, but she is unavailable ( A Guide to... ). She turns on the television, interested to hear the latest
news updates on the deteriorating geopolitics of the late 1950s. Instead, she receives an unappreciated
surprise in the form of the perky, gleeful face of stereotypical housewife June Cleaver on Leave it to
Beaver as she thoughtlessly cleans, cooks, and cares for the family, all the while indoctrinating the
audience on domestic female roles that Katharine finds both diminutive and regressive. June Cleaver
may not have been the news Katharine was anticipating, but it was equally informative. She very well
could have been a June type mother, or worse, her daughter could have been. This comedic television
trope of the average housewife reinvigorates Katharine, a constant reminder of her good fortune
growing up in an intellectually supportive environment. She turns off the television, opens
Psychologische Typen von C.G. Jung, and continues to comb through the pages, endlessly searching
for the key to unlock the complexities of personality ( Myers and...). Most mothers pass down jewelry.

Second Order Information

First Writing Assignment
PROMPT 1:
In her chapter How Do You Know , Ilana Gershon introduces the concept of second order information.
Second order information refers to the conjecture of the background information or concealed
meaning of a communicated message. The communicated message s phrases are analyzed beyond
their initial literal meanings in order to decipher any expectations or intentions the message may
deliver. Various mediums of communication allow for different ways to interpret second order
information and new communicative technologies produce new ways to incorporate second order
information into daily communication. Even seemingly insignificant details such as mispronouncing

The procedure anthropologists followed while dealing with skeletons is:
Take cranial pieces inside to dry under heat lamps in preparation for reconstruction, then go back
outside to lay out bones in anatomical position...Get one other anthropologist s reference on the aging
and record the information in the Anthro log.
Clean the femur, measure maximum length, and calculate stature estimate...Start by going over all
postcranial trauma, discussing whether it s peri or post and what caused it; then move on to cranial
trauma [Koff, 2004:146]
The anthropologists are required to record the aging of the bones and various forms of trauma. They
also show the use of anthropometry by measuring and recording the dimensions of the bones as they
placed all elements on the green background cloth or the sandbox, in the standard orientations for the
photographer; hold or place the ruler with the case number next to each element (Koff 2004:147). I
believe Koff is striving to tell a specific story based on the team s findings. Although she mentions
that she enjoys working with dead bodies and finds them fascinating, there is a bigger reason she is so
passionate about her work. In the text, there is a small passage that displays her emotion towards
murder. She writes I felt anger toward people who deem murder an acceptable political policy. I felt
the last of my naiveté drain away as I uncovered more and more people shot while their hands were

The Presidential Election Of 1980 Essay
On Tuesday, 4 November 1980, The United States presidential election of 1980 was held. The
competition was between incumbent Democratic President Jimmy Carter and his opponent, former
Californian Republican Governor, Ronald Reagan. Reagan, assisted by a falling economy complicated
by inflation and high unemployment, and the Iran hostage crisis, Reagan would win the election in a
sweep, receiving the largest number of electoral votes ever tallied by a presidential candidate not
currently in office. Jimmy Carter, who beat out Edward M. Kennedy for the nomination for
Democratic leader, attacked Reagan as a wild right wing fundamentalist. The former actor, Ronald
Reagan pledged to elevate the cynical mood of the nation, and won a conclusive victory. This election
marked the creation of what was called the Reagan Revolution, and indicated a conservative
repositioning in national government.
Throughout the 1970s, the United States underwent a wrenching period of low economic growth, high
inflation and interest rates, and intermittent energy crises. In the spring and summer of 1979, inflation
was on the rise and various parts of the United States were experiencing energy shortages, Carter was
widely blamed and planned on delivering a major speech about energy conservation, but he thought
the American public did not care for what he had to say. In the mist of all this, Carter went on the
presidential retreat for the bilateral treaty on Camp David. For more than a week, a

Observations of Parent-Child Interactions and Temperament...
| Observations of Parent Child Interactions and Temperament Psychology 223 January 23, 2013 |
Temperament is defined as the features of your personality that are present at birth and have a
genetic/biological basis. Your temperament, or basic disposition, interacts with environmental
influences to create your personality (Salters Pedneault, 2010). Temperament is a behavioral style that
shows the how of behavior, rather than the what or why. Temperamental differences are present at
birth; they influence how children behave toward individuals and objects in their environments and
how they are affected by the environment (Behavioral Development Initiatives, 1996 2012).

parents attempted to appease the boy by returning the crayons or ignoring the negative behaviors. The
behavior continued to the point that others patrons were complaining and the family was ultimately
asked to leave the restaurant. Third scenario took place within Wal Mart standing in the checkout line.
A young boy was sitting in the shopping cart and wanted to be put down on the ground by his father.
The father continued to state no to the young boy. The young boy pouted and eyes filled with tears for

The Mental and Physical Demands of Golf Essay
This research paper deals with a topic that I enjoy very much, golf. I wanted to research and see how
people feel about the game of golf. For example what are their attitudes toward the game of golf and
just basically find out their backgrounds and opinions on the game of golf. I found all this out by using
some primary research methods that we discussed in class to gain valuable feedback for my final
paper. First of all I broke down my thesis into a simple question and that question was is golf more of
a challenge to people mentally or physically. Golf is a relaxing hobby but I also feel that it is the most
difficult sport to master and perform at a high level every time you golf. You have to have both the

All of this primary research gave me the material to construct this paper, as you will now see the
results of my research in depth.
Before I get to answer my thesis statement directly I first would like to discuss the research methods
that I performed. There were three main primary research methods that I used to gather feedback and
input for my paper. These methods that I used were a survey, two interviews, and a case study that I
performed. First of all I will look at my survey that I constructed to gather feedback from people. I
performed a survey on ten people all of whom I knew as they were close friends or relatives. I did this
instead of distributing the survey to random people on campus because it interested me more to see the
answers to my questions from people that I know then from strangers. The surveys did not have names
on them so therefore I did not know who did what survey but it was fun to take a look at the answers
and guess who did this one and analyze their answers. In my survey I put several questions that I felt
would help me to answer my thesis statement and gather a lot of information on people s feelings
about golf. For example I directly asked in the survey do you see golf as more of a mental of physical
challenge to you. I also asked some typical questions like what your favorite sport is, how many
rounds of golf do you play a year, what age did you start to golf, and do you own a set of golf clubs. I
asked these at

Essay on The Epic of Gilgamesh
In the ancient Mesopotamian world, the realm of civilization was viewed to be highly illustrious. At
the same time, this state of advancement of great antiquity was also an attribute of divinity. The
elements of civilization were intimately associated to the highly esteemed divine mediation. Despite
the prominent theology culture in The Epic of Gilgamesh, divine intervention is not the only element
that could transform the crude heroic figures into sagacious men. Strength and power are definitely
not the only possessions that could advance one in life even though they clearly distinguish the heroes
from ordinary men. It is rather, more significantly, the process of internalization. No civilization

Even though the King of Uruk is expected to be highly civilized, ironically he does not appear to be
so. Overwhelmed with ego, arrogance and complete misuse of power, Gilgamesh has condemned
civilization insofar his existence. He thwarts his humanity by emphasizing his strength and power in
order to be more successful, forsaking the well being of his people. Hearing the laments and cries of
the people of Uruk, the gods then create Enkidu as a match for Gilgamesh. For Enkidu is a divine
creation, with [a] virtue in him like the god of war Ninurta, long waved hair of the goddess of corn
Nisaba, and body of matted hair like the god of cattle Samuqan (Sandars 63), one would have
expected him to be a lesson to Gilgamesh. However, the creation of Enkidu does not really answer the
people s grieving as an equal who can contend with Gilgamesh together and keep him busy from all
his iniquities (Sandars 62). Enkidu can never be Gilgamesh s match as he is created completely human
while Gilgamesh two third divine.
This strategy, in fact, works in a different manner whereby Enkidu teaches Gilgamesh the real
significance of being a human. This shows a fascinating twist as Gilgamesh s intention to tame Enkidu
by sending him a prostitute instead mirrors his taming by Enkidu. It is because Enkidu s indulgence in
sex with the prostitute for six days and seven nights that

What Is Sherman Alexie s The Absolutely True Diary Of A...
When it comes to societies, all of them have their own customs. These customs force the people of
each society to conform to specific standards in order to get along. Usually they have two types of
rules; these are written and unwritten. The majority of the rules are written so that people will be more
likely to follow them. On the other hand, unwritten rules are used to guide communication on a more
personal level. This can be seen in the novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by
Sherman Alexie. The author uses the story of a bullied Indian named Junior who decides to go against
societal norms and attend an all white school in order to challenge the views of each community. In
this story, the Indians often resort to violence when faced with something that threatens their culture,
or way of life. They see the fact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On Junior s first day at Reardan he already starts to notice this difference. The whites, when faced
with their first Indian student, are a little afraid so they resort to what they were always taught to do
when faced with an unfamiliar situation. They start to insult him by calling him names like Chief and
Red Skin. They also did this because they feared Junior. While explaining his first day at Reardan he
says, None of those guys punched me or got violent. After all, I was a reservation Indian, and no
matter how geeky and weak I appeared to be, I was still a potential killer. So mostly they called me
names. Lots of names (Alexie 63). This shows that they fear him just as much as he fears them. Soon,
they realize he is not a threat to them, and they quickly became friends with him. This is shown when
the Reardan crowd cheered Junior on after seeing the way the Indians treated him at the first
basketball game. They also booed the Indian team upon their arrival to the Reardan gym. This shows
how the whites use a verbal approach to deal with

Law Enforcement Leadership Is Essential For Every Police...
Law Enforcement Leadership Outline
I. Law Enforcement Leadership
a. Strong law enforcement leadership is essential for every police organization.
i. The influencing people can involve both what a manager does and how the manger does it (Dean,
2013, p. 306). ii. Lack of leadership competency is often the most critical obstacle to successful police
projects (Yang, 2012, p. 535).
b. To create an organization with great leaders, the organization has to be able to help create those
leaders.

agencies came together as one without regard to politics or infighting (Youngwirth, 2013, p. 24). iii.
Failure to thwart the attacks using available information has been interpreted as indicating a need for a
more comprehensive and strategic coordination of intelligence (Schaible, 2012, p. 761)
b. When it comes to collaboration between agencies, there is very little for department to turn to as a
guide. This creates more problems between agencies determining who does what.
i. Though there are a few mechanisms that create some degree of commonality, such as the U.S.
Constitution as well as federal laws and grants, there is no centralized authority responsible for
coordinating the cornucopia of law enforcement agencies existing at every level of government
(Stewart, 2011, p. 409).
IV. Public Perception
a. The way leaders use their power greatly affects the way in which the community they serve
perceives them.
i. While elected officials are charged with managing the administration of criminal justice, they
always do so with an eye toward politics, and herein lies an important source of the tension between

With the help of case studies of Siemens Electric Motor Works, John Deere Component Works, and
Schrader Bellows, Cooper (1989) demonstrated that the management objectives and diversity of
product mix determine the extent of the complexity in the design of activity based cost management
systems. The competitive environment in which the firm is operating, drives the need for activity
based costing.
A well designed integrated cost management system will help the management of the company to
identify opportunities for continuous improvement and point out unused capacity or capacity
constraints, if any, and will facilitate the introduction of activity based budgeting in the organization.
The activity based budgeting mindset makes all cost variable and attempts to match resource supply
with resource demand.
Activity based costing Activity Based Costing (ABC) is a two stage product costing method that
assigns costs first to activities and then to the products based on each product s use of activities. , ABC
systems first accumulate overhead costs for each organizational activity, and then assign the costs of
the activities to the products, services, or customers (cost objects) causing that activity. Activity
analysis is the processes of identifying appropriate output measures of activities and resources (cost
drivers) and their effects on the costs of making a product or providing a service.

Southwest Airline s Low Cost Fare Structure And Customer...
Introduction
Southwest Airline s low cost fare structure and customer service has been its primary core competency
and has enabled the airline to maintain its market share while sustaining its competitive advantage
over its rivals for over 40 years. This internal analysis will provide a review of the strengths and
weaknesses of events that occur within the firm along with a financial analysis assessment and
recommendation for future decisions.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Southwest s business model is dependent upon labor as approximately 83% of the company s
employees are represented by labor unions. This makes the firm particularly exposed in the event of
labor related issues. The Company s success is also dependent upon attracting and retaining qualified
personnel. In the future, it may be necessary for Southwest to increase existing levels of compensation
to retain its human capital. Currently, salaries, wages, and benefits represented approximately 41% of
the company s operating expenses for the year ended December 31, 2015. In terms of operating
expenses, fuel and oil comprised 23% of the airline s totals in 2015. Southwest Airlines had first
unhedged its 2015 fuel consumption however, later in the year as crude prices increased, new hedging
positions were added in response to expectations of increased fuel prices in the future. If the oil prices,
in fact, rise later in 2016 the airline will see a decrease in its operating expense and an increase in
capacity and

American veterans need more government funding because they have served their country with honor
and their benefits should be commensurate with the sacrifices that they and their families have made.
This delay is a tremendous strain on those who have medical problems due to their service to our
country. There are numerous medical issues that can be caused by the trauma of fighting in battle.
High blood pressure can be just as troubling as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). While the
effects might not be the same, the fact that an American citizen develops any type of medical problem

Biographical Perspective of No Country for Old Men
Upon reading the book, No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy, readers may be shocked to
see the way it is written. Cormac McCarthy s style of writing differentiates from other famous authors.
He does not use correct punctuations such as apostrophes for contraction words and quotation marks
around dialogues or use correct sentence forms. His rhetorical mode makes it difficult for the readers
to perceive it but there is a reason as to why he writes this way. The reason why his writing style is so
different is because of the way his life influences it. Not only does his life influences his writing style,
it also influences what happens in his novels. Everything that Cormac McCarthy writes in his books
have a purpose. In order to understand McCarthy s reason for writing so differently and the themes
behind No Country for Old Men, the readers would also have to understand the writer s life and the
effect of its influences.
The novel is divided into two parts. It is divided by the different point of views. One point of view is
limited omniscient which is written normally and the other point of view is told through the first
person written in italics. This is uncommon in most novels and McCarthy did not divided it into two
different views for no reason. He used italics for the first person point of view to differentiate the point
of views and to portray who the main

Carotid endarterectomy in Moyamoya disease: a case report
We report the case of a 55 year old female who was operated for stenosis of the right internal carotid
artery in the setting of Moyamoya disease previously treated with extensive carotid and cerebral
vascular reconstructions. The atherosclerotic plaque was excised and the right internal carotid artery
was repaired with bovine pericardium. The utilization of carotid endarterectomy in the surgical
management of Moyamoya disease is poorly described in the literature.
Moyamoya disease is progressive cerebral vasculopathy characterized by bilateral stenosis or

on March 2, 1965 I was 8 years old and my dad took me to see this movie. Two years later the movie
was again in theaters, I have just forgotten what holiday time it was released for, and this time I went
with my mom and my dad had passed away. Here are some interesting and perhaps unknown facts
about The Sound of Music .
Rights to the movie
The real Maria Von Trapp wrote her book about her life The Story of the Trapp Family Singers and it
was published in 1949. The Trapp Family ran into monetary problems in 1955 and Maria sold the
rights to German movie producer Wolfgang Reinhardt for a mere $9,000. However we must consider
the fact that in those days this amount of money was worth a whole lot more than it would be in today
s terms. What I do find amazing is that Maria and the Von Trapp family never got any royalties from
the two German movies that were released based on their life nor did they receive anything from the
Broadway production of The Sound of Music which ran for over three years or from the movie, which
brought in about $300 million. Now surely they should have received a ... Show more content on

The Broadway version at the Lundt Fontaine Theater in New York City starred Mary Martin and
Theodore Bikel. Since this musical proved to be a big hit 20th Century Fox bought the movie rights
for $1.25 million. The reason that the movie was almost not made was that the making of the movie
Cleopatra put such a drain on studio reserves that for some time Fox shut down. When Richard
Zanuck took over the production of Fox studios this film was once again put up for consideration. It
would have been such a shame if it had never seen the light of day.

`` Blown Away `` By Josh Kear And Chris Tompkins Use...
Fathers are viewed as the head of the household and the glue that holds the family together. For this
reason, as young girls grow up, they look to their fathers for stability and comfort. In the song, the
father was the complete opposite of everything good. He failed the young girl by tearing her down and
making her life miserable. In Blown Away , the authors Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins use symbolism
and imagery to show the difficulties the girl face as a child and how she finds hope for a better future.
One device the authors use to portray hope is symbolism. The first way the song exhibits symbolism is
through the tornado and the destruction is causes. Carrie Underwood sings, The weather man called
for a twister / she pray it blow down (lines 5 6). These lines show that she wants the tornado to come
down towards her. It represents the destruction her father has brought her life, but also the hope she
has that it will be good for her future. She realizes that while the tornado might destroy everything she
owns and knows about her childhood, it will also set her free from her father and the darkness that is
bringing her down. Her life is like the storm. Before a storm comes it is dark and dreary outside, much
like her life now. After a storm passes the skies clear and a rainbow appears, this is what her life will
be like after the tornado passes. The storm takes away all the bad in her life and leaves her with an
open path to a brighter future. The second way the authors

Analysis Of Social Life By Philip Larkin
In the first stanza of the poem, Larkin sets us in the middle of mundane middle class English social
life. He notes that we involve ourselves in all sorts of socializing; but even though we fill up our time
with such social activities, Larkin suggests that such a life is empty and that although we disguise it
from ourselves, underneath we really want to be alone. In the second stanza he extends the wish to be
alone to its logical terminus, death. He suggests, then, that in spite of our social involvement we all
have a death wish within us and that immersing ourselves in the social round is harmful because it is a
mechanism we use to prevent ourselves from coming to terms with death and our desire for it; i.e. we
kill our natural awareness towards death and the temporal nature of life through indulgence in social
traps. In the poem images are conjured up by the use of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To have an aversion to something means that you have a strong dislike for it. And there is also an
idiomatic expression in English, to avert one s eyes , which means to turn one s eyes away from
something one feels one should not see for some reason or other . Aversion of the eyes from death,
then, expresses neatly the idea of turning away from death. In addition, aversion is here modified by
costly . So it means here that aversion of the eyes from death is disadvantageous to the individual

The As A Verb From The Saxon Language And Means
The phrase, So Mote it Be is a phrase like all others, but derives a more simplistic meaning that dates
back thousands of years. So Mote it Be , is a verb from the Saxon language and means must . With the
term used in Pagan society, the term is said and very little is known of the word, it has been used for
centuries, but the most unlikely aristocrats of society.
Over the years, as I have studied about Paganism and the different paths that came forth, I have always
had this feeling that when saying the term, So Mote it Be at the end of a ritual or spell, was kind of
like saying Amen . While I felt the two terms had a connections, I always felt that So Mote it Be was a
term that felt more familiar, that I had been saying it forever. With the term having a similar meaning
to Amen , it feels more grounded to me. Like saying it sends it out to the four corners of the universe,
and from there the universe can take what I have asked and use it as it so pleases.
In today s modern Pagan and Wiccan society, the term is used abundantly. As I was researching this
term, I was shocked to find out that the Freemasons use So Mote it Be in their own rituals, and the
society of Freemasons, are a Christian group, but using a Pagan term. Or a term more associated with
Pagans. With Pagans using the term at the end of rituals and spell work, it used as an ending to the

Reflection Of The Book Of Revelation
The book of Revelation opens with an astonishing glimpse of future events that Jesus revealed to
John. God gave Jesus the revelation, and Jesus sent the revelation to His servant John by an angel. In
this opening scene of Revelation, John heard a mighty voice behind him speaking to him. When he
turned to see who was speaking he saw a graphic view of seven candlesticks with a man standing
amid them. The display of seven candlesticks and the One in the middle of them was significant to the
totality of the vision that John received to be written down for an everlasting record of the things that
must certainly come to pass for all believers. John, the servant of Jesus Christ, had been exiled on the
Isle of Patmos because of his witness and testimony of the word of God, and because of his all
embracing commitment to Jesus. He proclaimed that he was in the Spirit on the Lord s Day when he
heard a mighty, powerful voice speaking behind him. Upon hearing the voice, he immediately gave
heed to the direction of the voice and saw seven candlesticks and the One standing in the midst of
them. The significance of the candlesticks was that they were symbolic of the seven churches that
were in Asia. The Lord assigned John the task of writing to the seven churches and reporting the
revelation to them that was divulged to him by Jesus. Jesus analyzed each of the churches and
revealed to John a status report of His findings. The very candid reports, whether good or bad,

The Negative Effects of American Regime Change Operations Since its inception, the United States
has tried to expand its global reach. The US has lead many to believe that through its attempts, the
world s most powerful country is spreading diplomacy. However, the approach to diplomacy that the
US has often taken is one that can be considered sinister if not barbaric. These actions are called
regime change operations which is defined as the transition from one political regime to another,

coup led to the Afghanistan Civil War from 1989 1996. The war caused 400,000 deaths and caused the

The Use Of Food And Beverage Advertising In Public Schools
The use of food and beverage advertising in schools greatly impacts the purchasing behavior of youth.
With the abundance of advertisements plastered around elementary, middle, and high schools, students
believe that the foods and beverages advertised in their schools are what should be purchasing and
consuming. Advertisements directed at children in schools are misleading. Children think it s okay to
eat these food and drink these beverages because they see the advertisements in a place of learning, a
place where they believe whatever is taught to them is correct. During the Obama administration, food
and beverage advertising was a controversial topic in regards to First Lady, Michelle Obama. Food
and beverage promotion can be found almost everywhere on school grounds. Schools have food and
beverage sponsors, like local restaurants and beverage companies that advertise in the lunchroom and
even scoreboards in high schools ( Michelle ). According to a study completed by the United States
Department of Agriculture (USDA), 93% of marketing in schools, or $149 million, is related to
beverages, and many soda companies already have started to transition their sales and advertising in
schools from sugary sodas and sports drinks to their own healthier products ( Michelle ). Most people
encompass the common misconception that most food marketing in schools are done through the
lunch program; rather, most of food and beverage marketing is completed through athletic booster

Summary Of The Character Of Louise Erdrich s Novel Tracks
Characterization is the development and presentation of the personality of a character, usually through
actions, speech, reputation, appearance, and the author s attitude toward this person. Readers see
characterization in Louise Erdrich s novel Tracks, mostly, with the character Pauline. Throughout the
Erdrich s novel Tracks all the characters lose their families, grow up and change, the most notable
change seen in the novel is the one seen with Pauline. Readers will watch Pauline struggle through
difficult stages in her life that alters her mental health and her perspective of things. Pauline s

This was an act of spite because Pauline is jealous. After forcing Sophie and Eli to have sex she lies to
Bernadette about what actually happened in the woods saying, I told her my suspicious I pretended to
guess but it was Sophie herself who convinced Bernadette my words were true. (85) After this Pauline
comes clean to Bernadette which was just more lies to protect herself proving that she is an unreliable
narrator (86). Her jealousy of Fleur shows character development because Pauline starts as a plain,
invisible girl and transforms into being lustful and powerful.
Another thing in the novel Tracks by Louise Erdrich that promotes character development is Pauline
being a mixed blood Indian. Pauline thinks that the white people are better off. At the beginning of the
novel Pauline asks her father to live in the white town because she wanted to be more like her
Canadian mother (14). Pauline s father sends her off to Argus to work in a butcher shop. While she s
in Argus Pauline works with Fleur, whom she s afraid of. She s afraid of Fleur because of her magical
powers (12). Pauline later in the novel Tracks uses magical powers to create a love potion that she

wants to be fully white the Native American heritage holds her. After giving birth to Marie, Pauline is

Based on the past empires, Rome, Athens, and Macedonia´s qualities during their rise and stability, it

of government is where there is someone who leads but the citizens have a right to vote for what they

right to vote, power is not over given and the leader can not make choices without the majority of the

Rome had advanced technology and tactics during their time. One example of their advance military

Advantages Of Measuring Body Fat
A common goal for anyone who goes for the first time in a gym is to give body fat a proper send off.
Body fat is the fat that you can see in the mirror. Once you get rid of unwanted fat, you will be able to
see more cuts . On the other hand, the higher it is, the more fat is covering your muscles. Therefore, if
you want to see more cuts , you need to shrink the layer of fat which is under your skin and covers
your muscles.
How can you determine the body fat percentage?
One of the most accurate and efficient way to determine this aspect is with a caliper. These products
are designed to clip the fat and measure it under the skin. There are multiple pinch tests, but it s
recommended to use a four or seven point caliper test. Whatever method you are going to use, the key
element is consistency. It s important to be as consistent as possible when taking the measurements. In
short words, you have to take them under the same conditions. For example, it s advisable to do them
in the morning after using the restroom, because this will eliminate any discrepancies with fluctuation
throughout the day. Additionally, you can also use other methods for measuring body fat percentage,

  • 3. Advanced Microeconomics Question 1: Consumer Theory 1.1: In both the Marshallian and Hicksian consumer optimisation problems, it is assumed that consumers are supposed to be rational. The main focus of these problems are cost minimisation and utility maximisation, which play a huge part in consumer demand, but in real life, these are not the only problems that are considered. Also, it is assumed that every consumer s indifference curve for two goods would be the same they are very generalised models, and do not take into account other factors. For example, not many consumers would spend their entire budget on said goods one thing to consider would be a consumer s marginal propensity to consume and save. Though both of the problems provide a framework and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the insurer doesn t know which agents are high risk or low risk, the company will not offer different types of full insurance to match risk types, as high risk agents will prefer contracts that are designed for low risk agents. To solve this, the insurer will offer low risk agents less insurance this ensures that high risk types do not have the incentive to choose a contract for low risk customers, as they will want more insurance, because they know they will need to claim more. This ensures that the insurance company maintains non negative profit, as high risk individuals cost more to insure. However, these solutions carry agency costs, because the result is less efficient than if symmetric information was present. I believe that risk neutrality of an insurance company is a sufficient condition for insurance to take place. Insurance companies are risk neutral to maximise expected profits, therefore as the principal, will design contracts to achieve this, as well as making certain that the agent picks the desired effort (i.e to prevent a bad state of the world) for that contract, and to make sure that the agent even picks the contract in the first place. Making sure incentives are compatible, and ensuring participation by the correct risk types, are constraints on maximising expected profits. If an insurance company was risk averse, without the availability of symmetric information, they cannot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Introduction And Design Of The Study CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION AND DESIGN OF THE STUDY 1.1 Introduction Over the last few decades information technology has played an important role in Indian economy. It has affected all the industries especially the banking industry and has provided a way for the banks to differentiate their products and services. The traditional way of financial services delivered to customers called the branch based operations which had been used by the banks for more than 200 years, has been replaced by the advent of multiple technologies and application. For instance, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) displaced cashier tellers, telephone represented by call centers replaced the bank branch, the internet replaced mail, credit cards and electronic cash replaced bank transactions. The reason was the numerous key advantages that banks could gain by providing electronic banking services. In this way they had lower transactions cost, 24 hour trading, more extended business territory and also increased efficiency in daily banking process. The Banking Sector is also facing very stiff competition. In order to succeed such competition, they must offer a wide array of products with the latest technology. At present many banks and financial institutions are actively developing new electronic banking products for their customers throughout the world (Alagheband 2006) . The key players of banking industry are its customers and all the efforts made by the banks are to satisfy the desirable needs of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Character Analysis Of June Cleaver After several days spent meticulously filtering and interpreting the poorly translated web of psychological theories, Katharine Cook Briggs finally decides to unwind on her recliner. She calls her daughter, Isabel, eager to hear about the newest rendition of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, test form D, but she is unavailable ( A Guide to... ). She turns on the television, interested to hear the latest news updates on the deteriorating geopolitics of the late 1950s. Instead, she receives an unappreciated surprise in the form of the perky, gleeful face of stereotypical housewife June Cleaver on Leave it to Beaver as she thoughtlessly cleans, cooks, and cares for the family, all the while indoctrinating the audience on domestic female roles that Katharine finds both diminutive and regressive. June Cleaver may not have been the news Katharine was anticipating, but it was equally informative. She very well could have been a June type mother, or worse, her daughter could have been. This comedic television trope of the average housewife reinvigorates Katharine, a constant reminder of her good fortune growing up in an intellectually supportive environment. She turns off the television, opens Psychologische Typen von C.G. Jung, and continues to comb through the pages, endlessly searching for the key to unlock the complexities of personality ( Myers and...). Most mothers pass down jewelry. Second order information refers to the conjecture of the background information or concealed meaning of a communicated message. The communicated message s phrases are analyzed beyond their initial literal meanings in order to decipher any expectations or intentions the message may deliver. Various mediums of communication allow for different ways to interpret second order information and new communicative technologies produce new ways to incorporate second order information into daily communication. • 7. The Presidential Election Of 1980 Essay On Tuesday, 4 November 1980, The United States presidential election of 1980 was held. The competition was between incumbent Democratic President Jimmy Carter and his opponent, former Californian Republican Governor, Ronald Reagan. Reagan, assisted by a falling economy complicated by inflation and high unemployment, and the Iran hostage crisis, Reagan would win the election in a sweep, receiving the largest number of electoral votes ever tallied by a presidential candidate not currently in office. Jimmy Carter, who beat out Edward M. Kennedy for the nomination for Democratic leader, attacked Reagan as a wild right wing fundamentalist. The former actor, Ronald Reagan pledged to elevate the cynical mood of the nation, and won a conclusive victory. This election marked the creation of what was called the Reagan Revolution, and indicated a conservative repositioning in national government. Throughout the 1970s, the United States underwent a wrenching period of low economic growth, high inflation and interest rates, and intermittent energy crises. In the spring and summer of 1979, inflation was on the rise and various parts of the United States were experiencing energy shortages, Carter was widely blamed and planned on delivering a major speech about energy conservation, but he thought the American public did not care for what he had to say. In the mist of all this, Carter went on the presidential retreat for the bilateral treaty on Camp David. For more than a week, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For example what are their attitudes toward the game of golf and just basically find out their backgrounds and opinions on the game of golf. I found all this out by using some primary research methods that we discussed in class to gain valuable feedback for my final paper. Before I get to answer my thesis statement directly I first would like to discuss the research methods that I performed. There were three main primary research methods that I used to gather feedback and input for my paper. These methods that I used were a survey, two interviews, and a case study that I performed. First of all I will look at my survey that I constructed to gather feedback from people. I performed a survey on ten people all of whom I knew as they were close friends or relatives. I did this instead of distributing the survey to random people on campus because it interested me more to see the answers to my questions from people that I know then from strangers. The surveys did not have names on them so therefore I did not know who did what survey but it was fun to take a look at the answers and guess who did this one and analyze their answers. In my survey I put several questions that I felt would help me to answer my thesis statement and gather a lot of information on people s feelings about golf. For example I directly asked in the survey do you see golf as more of a mental of physical challenge to you. I also asked some typical questions like what your favorite sport is, how many rounds of golf do you play a year, what age did you start to golf, and do you own a set of golf clubs. At the same time, this state of advancement of great antiquity was also an attribute of divinity. The elements of civilization were intimately associated to the highly esteemed divine mediation. Despite the prominent theology culture in The Epic of Gilgamesh, divine intervention is not the only element that could transform the crude heroic figures into sagacious men. Even though the King of Uruk is expected to be highly civilized, ironically he does not appear to be so. Overwhelmed with ego, arrogance and complete misuse of power, Gilgamesh has condemned civilization insofar his existence. He thwarts his humanity by emphasizing his strength and power in order to be more successful, forsaking the well being of his people. Hearing the laments and cries of the people of Uruk, the gods then create Enkidu as a match for Gilgamesh. For Enkidu is a divine creation, with [a] virtue in him like the god of war Ninurta, long waved hair of the goddess of corn Nisaba, and body of matted hair like the god of cattle Samuqan (Sandars 63), one would have expected him to be a lesson to Gilgamesh. However, the creation of Enkidu does not really answer the people s grieving as an equal who can contend with Gilgamesh together and keep him busy from all his iniquities (Sandars 62). Enkidu can never be Gilgamesh s match as he is created completely human while Gilgamesh two third divine. This strategy, in fact, works in a different manner whereby Enkidu teaches Gilgamesh the real significance of being a human. This shows a fascinating twist as Gilgamesh s intention to tame Enkidu by sending him a prostitute instead mirrors his taming by Enkidu. It is because Enkidu s indulgence in sex with the prostitute for six days and seven nights that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These customs force the people of each society to conform to specific standards in order to get along. Usually they have two types of rules; these are written and unwritten. The majority of the rules are written so that people will be more likely to follow them. On the other hand, unwritten rules are used to guide communication on a more personal level. This can be seen in the novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. The author uses the story of a bullied Indian named Junior who decides to go against societal norms and attend an all white school in order to challenge the views of each community. Cormac McCarthy s style of writing differentiates from other famous authors. He does not use correct punctuations such as apostrophes for contraction words and quotation marks around dialogues or use correct sentence forms. His rhetorical mode makes it difficult for the readers to perceive it but there is a reason as to why he writes this way. The reason why his writing style is so different is because of the way his life influences it. Not only does his life influences his writing style, it also influences what happens in his novels. Everything that Cormac McCarthy writes in his books have a purpose. In order to understand McCarthy s reason for writing so differently and the themes behind No Country for Old Men, the readers would also have to understand the writer s life and the effect of its influences. The novel is divided into two parts. It is divided by the different point of views. One point of view is limited omniscient which is written normally and the other point of view is told through the first person written in italics. This is uncommon in most novels and McCarthy did not divided it into two different views for no reason. For this reason, as young girls grow up, they look to their fathers for stability and comfort. In the song, the father was the complete opposite of everything good. He failed the young girl by tearing her down and making her life miserable. In Blown Away , the authors Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins use symbolism and imagery to show the difficulties the girl face as a child and how she finds hope for a better future. One device the authors use to portray hope is symbolism. The first way the song exhibits symbolism is through the tornado and the destruction is causes. Carrie Underwood sings, The weather man called for a twister / she pray it blow down (lines 5 6). These lines show that she wants the tornado to come down towards her. It represents the destruction her father has brought her life, but also the hope she has that it will be good for her future. She realizes that while the tornado might destroy everything she owns and knows about her childhood, it will also set her free from her father and the darkness that is bringing her down. Her life is like the storm. Before a storm comes it is dark and dreary outside, much like her life now. After a storm passes the skies clear and a rainbow appears, this is what her life will be like after the tornado passes. The storm takes away all the bad in her life and leaves her with an open path to a brighter future. The second way the authors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He notes that we involve ourselves in all sorts of socializing; but even though we fill up our time with such social activities, Larkin suggests that such a life is empty and that although we disguise it from ourselves, underneath we really want to be alone. In the second stanza he extends the wish to be alone to its logical terminus, death. He suggests, then, that in spite of our social involvement we all have a death wish within us and that immersing ourselves in the social round is harmful because it is a mechanism we use to prevent ourselves from coming to terms with death and our desire for it; i.e. we kill our natural awareness towards death and the temporal nature of life through indulgence in social traps. When he turned to see who was speaking he saw a graphic view of seven candlesticks with a man standing amid them. The display of seven candlesticks and the One in the middle of them was significant to the totality of the vision that John received to be written down for an everlasting record of the things that must certainly come to pass for all believers.
