Colombian Culture VS American culture
Culture can be seen from the interaction of many things such as history, activities and developments.
It is also represented in the form of people live. Living in two different countries is a unique
experience that gives you a new way of thinking. In my case I have lived in Colombia and now in the
United States. Despite bearing some minor similarities, the differences between this to countries are
notable in geography, festivities, economic and food. Colombia is located in South America, is divided
into five regions: Andina, Pacifica, Caribe, Amazonica and Orinoquia. It has thirty two states.
Colombia is bordered to the north by Panama, to the east by Venezuela and Brazil, south to Peru and
Ecuador, and to the west by the Pacific Ocean. Colombia is the only South American country with
coastlines on the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, which has several islands as the Archipelago of
San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina. Colombia has the largest number of species per unit area
in the world, total is the second most diverse country in the world after Brazil. United Sates is located
in North America where its 48 states and Washington DC, the capital district. Between the Pacific and
Atlantic Oceans, bordered by Canada to the north and Mexico to the south. The state of Alaska is in
the northwest of the continent, with Canada to the east. The state of Hawaii is an archipelago in the
Pacific Ocean, and is the only U.S. state that is not in America. The country also

Florida Annual Conference Analysis
Figure 1 shows the basic total attendance and membership breakdown for the various weekly attendee
groupings of the Florida Annual Conference. On average, each weekly attendance group has fewer
than 11,605 attendees. Furthermore, the red bar and blue bar combined represents the total
membership per size category. For example, there are 12,002 total weekly attendees and 18,665
members attributed to all churches that fall within Group 1,500+.
The largest section of membership is captured in churches with 160 to 599 weekly attendees with 42%
of the conference s total membership. Additionally, Florida churches below 50 weekly attendees make
up 3.4% of total conference membership. Conversely, churches with over 1,000 weekly attendees

Almost a majority, 47%, of the conference s 608 churches, are composed of fewer than 100 weekly
attendees. In fact, 23% of churches contain fewer than 50 weekly attendees and account for 3.4% of
the conference s total weekly attendance. Sixteen churches boast more than 1,000 weekly attendants
and account for 18.5% of the conference s total weekly attendance. Compared to other UMC
conferences, a large amount of Florida s attendees are found in churches with large congregations.
Table 1 The Average Florida Church
Table 1 shows that the average Florida church has 206 weekly attendees and spends approximately
$417,000 per year. The average church in the Florida Annual Conference is the largest compared to
the national average. The conference is ranked 1st in average attendance with 119 more weekly
attendees. While larger churches spend more money and incur more debt, they are typically one of the
best performers in outreach ministries. Likewise, the conference contains a larger attendance churches,
as such, Florida ranks 3rd in persons served in the community with an average of 3,251 people served.

Sea Urchin (Lytechinus Purpuratus) Fertilization
The Effect of Salinity on Sea Urchin (Lytechinus purpuratus) Fertilization
Nicky Friedman, Lewis Sorokin, Alyssa Raifsnider, Jake Lippi
Franklin and Marshall College, October 4, 2016
Introduction Due to an influx of freshwater from melting polar ice caps, the overall saline
concentration of various saltwater environments has been steadily decreasing for years, thereby
endangering their inhabitants (Lessios, 2008). For these organisms, including Lytechinus purpuratus, a
species of sea urchin, this environmental change has the potential to harm many of their natural
functions. As such, it would be expected that the gametes of this organism would not be able to
properly fertilize when their natural environment is altered. In this experiment, L. purpuratus eggs
were exposed to a natural environmental saline concentration (Cowart et al., 2008), as well as two
environments above and two environments below this natural saline concentration. This was done in
order to test their ability to be fertilized and the rate at which they fertilize under this environmental
stress. It was believed that the conditions below the natural saline environment would have a greater
adverse effect on the fertilization success of the sea urchin eggs than the environments above the
natural saline solution. This was predicted because sea urchins, ... Show more content on

Elective Caesarean Hypotension
Caesarean delivery is the method by which a baby is born through an incision in the abdominal wall
and uterus. Statistics show that 166,081 caesarean deliveries were carried out within NHS hospitals in
England during 2013/2014, of which 50% were elective. This represents a 2.5% rise over the previous
year, continuing the trend of increasing elective caesarean rates (Health Social Care Information
Centre, 2015). Indications for a caesarean section (CS) can include foetal distress, previous CS, breech
presentation, abnormal progress during labour, etc. (Vacca, 2013).
This segment will explore and discuss the role of the Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) within

The practitioner ensured that the patient was dry and was covered to maintain dignity and privacy. The
anaesthetist accompanied the practitioner to the PACU to observe and establish that the patient was
physiologically stable during transfer. On arrival to PACU the scrub staff and anaesthetist took part in
the PACU handover. It is imperative that a formal handover of the patient care is given with all
relevant details about anaesthesia and surgery verbally communicated, in order to aid the continuity of
care and minimise the risk of omissions (Hamlington, 2012). One study (Kluger and Bullock, 2002)
observed that 14% of adverse recovery events was contributed by inadequate handover procedure. The
patient was observed on a one to one basis by the recovery ODP whilst observations and monitoring
was recorded. Recordings of respiratory rate, heart rate, NIBP and pulse oximetry were made at 5
minute intervals as laid out in AAGBI s guideline for postoperative recovery (Association of
Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland, 2013). Sedation and mobility recordings were also needed

Wild Swans by Jun Chang
Jung Chang is a Chinese born British writer that is known for her award winning book, Wild Swans.
After having several jobs at a young age, Jung Chang became an English language student, and an
assistant lecturer at Sichuan University. In 1978, Chang left China for Britain, where the University of
York awarded her a scholarship. At the university, she acquired a Ph.D. in linguistics in 1982.
Interestingly, Chang was the first person from the People s Republic of China to obtain a doctorate

These secret assassinations led Mao Zedong to be a step closer of taking over China. Nevertheless,
Chairman Mao was never convicted for the deaths since he was the leader of People s Republic of
China. Additionally, the authors wanted to depict the way that Mao Zedong was using his power for
own personal gain. As it was written in the text, Mao was the only millionaire created in Mao s China.
(333) Based on the statement, Chairman Mao presumably seized all the finest items away from the
people, while they suffered from the dearth of food. Also, Chang and Halliday highlighted that the
chairman immensely wanted power by contacting Soviet Union s leader, Joseph Stalin. Gaining
support and approval from Soviet Union would help establishing Chairman Mao s rank among the
Chinese regime. Although, Mao was not the only individual that Joseph Stalin worked with. Based on
the information, Mao Zedong noticed a huge opportunity that could boost up his position that the
authors emphasized. Mao: The Unknown Story was a remarkable and dramatizing biography of Mao
Zedong. Jung Chang and Jon Halliday depicted China s chairman as pitiless leader that was behind the
majority of the slaughters under his rule. The effects that Mao left on China were astonishing to learn
about. Mao s philosophy was the strangest thought that did not function properly as it should have.
Cravings for absolute power made Chairman Mao to become a vicious tyrant. Mao Zedong s impact

Symbols In The Veldt, By Ray Bradbury
The Veldt was first published in 1951. Some other works of Ray Bradbury is The Martian Chronicles,
The Illustrated Man, and Fahrenheit 451. He is known for writing about science fiction. Ray Bradbury
likes to write about the future and how technology will corrupt humans. The Veldt is about a family
who lives in a technologically advanced house that corrupts the children to eventually kill their
parents. Bradbury adds many different symbols into The Veldt such as names to symbolizes the
character s personality traits. The author uses characterization to convey how dysfunctional the
characters are. Bradbury s style is usually science fiction since most of his stories are. Ray Bradbury

idea that hostile thoughts make the characters so angry that this makes them express their hatred for

Foundational Biblical Worldview
Paul is writing the book of Romans as an occasional letter to the believers in Rome, whom he has
never personally met, but desires to connect with very soon. It appears to be a pastoral letter written in
an apocalyptic style, because he is dealing with a church that needs direction. He is writing boldly to
them to encourage unity as God s people. Romans 15:15 attests to the strength of his message when he
states, I have written very boldly to you on some points . Paul is in essence building a framework of
beliefs for believers to view the world around them (Caner Hindson. 2008. Pg.498). Romans though
not a systematic theological message, chapters 1 8 are strong truths for a foundational biblical
worldview.
The natural world and all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This movement didn t happen overnight, but it is a production of the human nature. The human or
sinful worldview demands for its own rights, its own way, its own desires to be fulfilled. Continuing
to build a foundational message with boldness, Paul explains that the reason God sent the law was to
bring our sin to our attention so we would realize how desperately we need His grace. He points out
that sin had already conquered the human race long before the Law arrived, which is indisputably
proved by the fact that sin had already produced death in every human (Romans 5:21 New Living
Testament). Sin and self separate us from God, grace brings us near. Romans 6. Since we have united
with him in his death, we will also raise to life as he was. Verse 12 Paul remind believers that our life
in Christ gives us power over so, Do not let sin control the way you live do not give in to sinful
desires.
A lesson that I have learned the hard way is that people will let you down, but God never will. Another
important aspect for a foundation of a biblical worldview is in human relationships. From the
beginning God intended for man to interact and be fruitful with one another in harmonious
relationships (Genesis 2:18, New Living Testament). But when man fell into sin, it brought about
every manner of

Cardiac Tachycardia
This work has been motivated by our wish to understand 336 and document dynamics that occur in the
main hypothesized 337 anatomical substrates for some types of cardiac tachycardias 338
the ring and isthmus geometries, Fig. 1. 339
In an annulus, there were relatively simple patterns of 340 excitation consisting of one or more waves
traveling in a 341 clockwise or counterclockwise direction. Although patterns 342 with two or more
circulating waves such as those shown in Figs. 2(a) (multimedia view) and 2(e) (multimedia view)

tachy 395 cardias, to date they have not been successful in predicting 396 aspects of the arrhythmia
location and stimulation protocols 397 to induce the arrhythmia, or the period of the tachycardia. 398
Thus, such models have the potential for identifying the ana 399 tomical substrate for the arrhythmia.
Our work supports the 400 conceptual basis for these models, but points to the impor 401 tance of
confirming that the patterns of excitation in the ana 402 tomical models of the heart correspond to
those clinically 403 observed. 404
In conclusion, we have observed a large number of dis 405 tinct rhythms that can be found in annular
geometries and 406 isthmus geometries. The possibilities that many different 407 dynamic patterns
can occur in a single geometry provide a 408 strong set of questions for experimentalists,
theoreticians, 409 and clinicians to determine the mechanisms by which reen 410 trant rhythms

Biography Of Alexander John Greenslade And Lady Mary Capelle
Alexander John Greenslade, Stepney, London, 1885. I was born to Lord John Greenslade and Lady
Mary Capelle. In my early years, me and my kin took residency in Millbank road; walking distance
from both the Palace of Westminster and Buckingham Palace.
We lived in a white bricked mansion: five stories tall; a small porters lodge just outside the front door;
white and gold incrusted foyer centred around a carpeted marble staircase, a glittering chandelier
hanging from The Creation of Adam on the ceiling. The lower few floors there were full with an
extensively lavish state dining room, drawing rooms, art galleries, studies and libraries, all challenging

A young mother and son, both dirty and worn, walked down the depressed street. As our carriage
wheeled by, the boy and I managed to look at each other directly in the eyes. Just from the bloodshot
brown eyes, I saw the worry of a hundred grown men thrown onto his shoulders.
Why is everything here so awful? I asked my father. Both my parents faced me, their heads held high.
These people are not like us; they come of unfortunate bloodlines. Born into a poor family, and will
stay that way until they die. They said, splitting up the sentences.
That s sad,
Listen; they are none of your concern. They live their lives, and we live ours. My mother snapped
Enough of this somber talk, we are nearly at Hyde Park. Father chimed in.
We made our way out of the slums, returning to the vicinity of the palace. The horses drew us around

building, made almost wholly of glass, was erected by the river running through the park. Millions of

of people surrounded the palace s fountains and parks.

The Day Of Canada With My Brother
Today is the day. I am going to Canada with my brother, Justin. We have packed for two weeks worth
of things, and we are very excited to go.
Justin! I called out.
We are going to be late! I exclaimed.
Just a minute, I am finishing up on packing! He exclaimed. I walked downstairs to go see if there was
anything I could help with. I walked into Justin s room and found him playing his Xbox.
I thought you said you were packing... I said suspiciously.
I was... He started to explain. Let s just go now! I said. I pulled his arm, got his stuff, and then started
to head out to the car.
Mom! Are you ready to drop us off? I asked. Yes! Are you sure you want to go to Canada all by
yourself? It will be you, and your thirteen year old twin brother. And of course, you will be staying
with some of your friends. My mom said.
We will be fine. Justin said.
It was two hours later. Justin and I were just sitting at the airport with the airport lady that was looking
after us. Then they called our flight. We got on the plane. Ten minutes later and we were in the sky.
Everything was so small from above. Then, I heard a loud clanging sound. Are you okay? Justin
asked.
I m fine... but what is that loud sound? I asked.
I think he will know the answer. I thought. He wants to be a pilot when he grows up. I thought. I think
that is the sound of the airplane breaking down. He said. After a couple seconds of him thinking that

Evolution Of Database Management Systems
EVOLUTION OF DBMS
1.INTRODUCTION
As technology is rapidly emerging and changing, organizations are quickly adapting to it, and with
this technology and software advancement includes database management systems. Database
management systems have become a crucial tool in every organization. It will be rather more
surprising to see a company not using DBMS in this age. As organizations emerge and grow by years,
they have numerous data sets to handle and database management systems is a software application
which helps organizations perform this mundane task easily. It collects, organizes the databases and
also stores and performs functions on the databases making it easier for users to access. Now days, an
organization wouldn t survive without data and information. The way this data is important for an
organization, to manage this data is equally important. Database management systems has become a
part of every field right from schools, libraries, medical centers, airlines, chemical plants etcetera.
With the effective use of database management systems software in organizations, it comes with
advantages and disadvantages which will be later explained in the findings section of this paper.
The research would concentrate more on how database management system applications have
progressed since the past decade. The research objective is to study the evolution of DBMS and learn
about the emerging alternative applications for this traditional system. The positive and negative
effects

Celiac Research Papers
Celiac disease also known as sprue, celiac sprue, non tropical sprue, and gluten sensitivity enteropathy
is a lifelong disease in which the body s reaction to gluten causes damage to intestines that result in
poor absorption of nutrients (Davidson 1004). For my health project, I choose this topic since many
family members have been diagnosed with Celiac disease within the last couple of years. Also, there is
a slight chance that I could also have this condition. Before I researched this topic, I knew little about

Accounting Principles And Standards Of Professional Conduct
As accountants and auditors we are held to, and must comply with, two standards of professional
conduct. Those standards are generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and generally
accepted auditing standards (GAAS). GAAP enforces the uniform standards for preparing and
presenting financial statements. GAAS governs the ways and means are used by public accountants
when conducting an audit. GAAS establishes the standards for field work and mandates that sufficient
evidence be found to provide reasonable assurance for issuing an audit opinion.

An accountant that acts with reckless disregard for the consequences of their actions is said to have
committed constructive fraud. An accountant that commits fraud is liable for compensatory and
punitive damages to any foreseen person that could be injured. A fraudulent act is a false depiction of
a material fact and it is made with the objective to deceive the user. When an accountant provides
auditing and accounting services they owe a duty to their clients of reasonable care, knowledge, skill
and judgment. If an accountant breaches the duty of reasonable care, knowledge, skill, and judgment,
he or she is believed to have committed a tort which may be classified as accounting malpractice or
negligence. An accountant who commits negligence can be held liable for falling to exercise a certain
duty of care to their clients. For example, if an auditor discovers questionable transactions while
performing an audit, the accountant should investigate it and inform the client of the results.
As a result of the case of Bily vs. Arthur Young in 1992, the Supreme Court issued a hierarchy of duty
for accountants who prepare incorrect financial statements. In order to be found liable under ordinary
negligence, an auditor must owe a duty to his or her client only. The duty expands to receivers of the
financial statements under negligent misrepresentation. The Supreme Court defined the receivers as

Narrative Consequences Of Trade In Mel Gibson s Apocalypto
We can presume that populations of human beings have been expending their time, energy, and
resources to acquire valuable commodities to trade for a very long time. This quintessentially human
behavior bolsters social bonds in ways that would have been a great boon to the survival chances of an
individual or tribe. In the movie Apocalypto , the early minutes depict two tribes of people coming
into contact for the first time. The potentially deadly levels of tension were eased with a simple
greeting from an elder tribesman and an exchange of boar meat for fish. Narrative elements aside, this
is a fantastic recreation of the likely roots of commerce . But, those times are long gone. These simple

When the Second World War was ending in 1945 the Allies met in Crimea for the Yalta Conference to
discuss plans for post War Europe. Stalin had come prepared. He used the stratagem of setting the
meeting s location nearer to his homeland than the homes of the other negotiating parties to exacerbate
their discomfort with jet lag. This also happened to be when Franklin Roosevelt was nearing the end
of his life, a time when negotiating skill would logically suffer. With the other members of the Big

concessions than he would have otherwise. As underhanded as this trick was, it was mild when
juxtaposed with his geopolitical maneuvers. Earlier that year, the Soviets acknowledged the
Communist Polish government before the Yalta talks even began, to better position themselves to
create a Pro Russian government in a neighboring country. FDR and Churchill recognized the threat of
this bold move to capitalist markets, but USSR occupation of Poland deprived them of options. The
world leaders met again at the Potsdam conference years later when the war was nearly won. The
question of what to do with Germany was on the agenda, and it was an especially tricky question.

Zeitoun Essay Questions
Questions for Zeitoun
1. How do disastrous situations bring about the extremes of human nature? What motivates the
behaviors?
In disastrous situations, humans are brought to the extremes. At first, people panic and become
desperate for any solution, as seen on pg. 74 where Kathy describes an empty shelved Walmart that
looked like the end of the world. Greed and lawlessness due to a lack of police is also an extreme; this
is seen on pgs. 128 129 when Zeitoun encounters a gang robbing a Shell station on his way to work, it
had thugs armed with guns. It is even more clear on page 175, where Mayor Nagin described the
events in the Superdome, About three days we were basically rationing...that s why the people, in my
opinion, they got to this almost animalistic state...they were trapped...for five days watching dead
bodies, watching hooligans killing people, raping people... Mayor Nagin says that the feeling of
desperateness, of being trapped, and of helplessness made people animalistic. On the other hand and
to a lesser extent, people like Zeitoun show an opposite extreme. After Katrina, Zeitoun developed a

Dirty Harry Film Techniques
I know what you re thinking; Did he fire six shots or only five? Well, to tell you the truth, in all this
excitement, I have kind of lost track myself. But being that this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful
handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you ve got to ask yourself one question:
Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk (Siegel, 1971)? During my research I found out that this is one of
the most popular movie quotes. Dirty Harry is a film directed by Don Siegel. Client Eastwood stars as
Harry Callahan in the film. The scene starts off with a picture of a police badge. This sets the tone of
the film because immediately you know that it s a film amount an officer or police department. The
film begins with the murder of a woman in a swimming pool. Harry Callahan finds a ransom message
demanding one hundred thousand dollars from the city. The killer, named Scorpio also promises for
every day that the ransom isn t paid, he will commit another murder. Callahan is then assigned to the
case by the mayor and chief of police. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Harry is an inspector who seems to be fed up with playing by the rules and decides to go by his own
rules. It seemed as though inspector Harry would be willing to shoot at any time. He s probably one of
the most unethical officers that I have seen in a film. You know he doesn t care when he says to hell

entertainment purposes. The director did a good job of showing the violence that some officers would

English Should Be the Official Language of the United States
English as the official language of the United States could benefit the U.S. Government and America
as a whole. America has long since been a multicultural nation and has been an English speaking
nation since it was founded. The constitutional and federal documents are all in English, which
furthers the American people, believing English should be our official language. The majority of states
already have English as their official language, for English has always provided a much needed
cohesion to our diverse citizens since it was founded.
Being made of diverse peoples, and being able to continue to use your own language may seem
preferable as we encourage individuality and do not want anyone to disappear into the soup. This

The army and federal court system already operate in English for practical reasons, and by having an
official language, the workings of the government would be more streamlined. Such a bill would
mostly apply to government policy and federal documentation, and would make it clear that unless the
government decides to provide it, no one is entitled to government services or documents in any
language other than English; if there is a communication issue with laws or regulations in more than
one language, English would take precedence. In a recent national survey, nearly two thirds of
Americans assumed that English was already the official language set by the United States
Constitution, according to the Associated Press, 1987. (James Crawford 1) The lobbyists U.S. English

citizens of one nation... there was no resistance to the notion that learning English was the price of
immigration. (James Crawford 1) In November of 1986, California voted on Proposition 63, a

Like The Sea Poetic Techniques
In 2009 Alicia Keys released her album The Element of Freedom , on this album her son Like the Sea
compares being in love to the sea. This album released a year before she got married so she was
speaking from her experiences. Like the Sea by Alicia Keys use similes and repetition to demonstrate
the ups and downs that come with love and make love complex. Alicia Keys talks about love in the
majority of her songs. In her music listeners can hear the change from looking for love to being in
love. In Like the Sea she addresses the conflict of the difficulty of being in love. In the song she is
speaking to people in love because couples have to take the ups with the downs to stay in love. Within

The effects of all these comparisons help find another meaning to love for people who have never felt
it before. The first line of the song is Love is the like the sea and this line sets the listener up for all the
deeper comparisons and gives the main parallel of the song. In the song Alicia Keys compares being
lost at sea and seeing the light from a light house to being in a happy and safe relationship when she
says, So when you see the light. Like a ship in the night. You have found the place . The comparison
really expresses the feeling that someone would get if they were lost at sea and seen a light house then
they would be filled with a huge amount of happiness and a sense of safety. In lines closely following,
she compares seeing the distant shore when someone is lost at sea to being in a safe and happy
relationship when she says, You ve been looking for. Like a distant shore. Don t you ever look back
again . Again she is talking about someone finding peace and happiness in a relationship. Alicia Keys
also say that love Leave you on your knees and this is accurate because love makes people weak and
vulnerable. The similes used in this song give the listener the advice to cherish the good times with the
person they love and work through the

Office Politics And Its Effect On An Organization
Office Politics Organizations are faced with office politics on a daily basis. According to a study of
U.S. workers, it is estimated that 60 percent of workers believe office politics is necessary to get ahead
in the workplace (Conner, 2013). Therefore, understanding the strategies that people use to gain
advantage over another is the responsibility of a strong leader. The environment in which politics are
allowed can have both a positive and negative effect on an organization. While office politics may be a
workplace fact of life, containing or controlling it is possible with the right direction from leadership
(MindTools, 2015). The former CEO of Intel, Paul Otellini, knows the importance of office politics
and the climate in which it should be conducted. Otellini became the CEO in 1974, only six years after
the company was founded and served as CEO for 36 years. He explains Intel s political cultural as
egalitarian allowing all to be equal (Karlgaard, 2011). Otellini leadership style in addressing politics is
that anyone can and should speak up. However, he believes data and results should be the driving
focus, therefore, committing to the vision and goals of the organization. Individuals should take risks
and embrace innovation, but should conduct oneself with discipline instead of self greed (Karlgaard,
2011). In terms of politics, Intel believes each person is responsible for demonstrating integrity and
professionalism and demands this from each of their

Solar Power Appliances
Introduction
Founded in 1987 by a professor of electrical engineering at the University of Stanford, the SunPower
Company has lived to beat adversities and emerged as a formidable force to reckon with in the
provision of solar energy in the past few decades. Markedly, Dr. Richard Swanson acted on a market
gap and spearheaded the company s establishment from a research and development corporation to a
fully fledged production firm that produces and sells solar panels globally. Owing to worldwide
warming and climate change, there have been entrants in the same line of business that compete with
SunPower. As a result, a reduction in the company s market share occurred over the past decades.
In its initial life stages, SunPower signed two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Despite its marked development, the SunPower Company still experiences aggressive competition
from larger solar cells producers in the world. Since solar energy is a permanent solution to concerns
on climate change, there have been scores of entrants into the same line of business. For instance, the
company faces stiff competition from the Asian and Middle East countries. Some of its main
competitors include Sharp Solar, who is the chief competitor, Q cells, REC Cells, First cells, and Sun

Eastern Variations Of Cinderella
Folk tale is a valuable fortune of human beings, giving readers a closer exposure to cultures all over
the world. One of the most popular folk tale is Cinderella a story about a good girl facing persecution
of her cruel stepmother and sister. Almost all Cinderella versions in the world share the same themes
and motifs but the function of plots and motifs might perform differently in distinctive local cultural
contexts. Two Eastern variations of Cinderella Tam Cam and Neang Angkat in Vietnam and Cambodia
respectively are typical examples. The two stories are similar in terms of theme, motif of magical help
and presence of Buddhist beliefs. However, regarding the specific reincarnation, supernatural power

First of all, though both having been influenced by Buddhism, the reincarnations of main characters in
the two stories are somehow different because they are also affected by other ideologies and cultures.
In Vietnamese Tam Cam, Tam undergo four times of reincarnation (a nightingale, a white cedar tree, a
wooden loom and a persimmon fruit) whereas in Neang Angkat, the girl reborns two times. The
reincarnation process of Tam is linked with Confucian ideology of female virtues and behaviour. For
instance, her transformation from a persimmon fruit into a human shape to do the housework and cook
for the old woman represents the virtue of skillful of work, which is one of four Confucian virtues that
Vietnamese women need to obtain (Bui, 2009). Differently, two forms of reincarnation in Cambodian
Cinderella a banana tree and a grove of bamboo only describe two symbolic images of this eastern
country. Another difference is the supernatural power. Whereas the Bụt in Tam Cam stands for the
Buddha, the Spirit of Virtue in Cambodia s Neang Angkat is said to be stand in for her dead mother
(Bettelheim, 1974). The Bụt is a religious image, appearing in many other folk lores in Vietnam and
willing to help whoever encounter difficulties while the Spirit of Virtue in Neang Angkat is just a
symbol of motherhood. It is the strong and eternal love of the dead mother that helps Angkat

Management Styles And The Type Of Style
Introduction
Peak et al. (2010) noted, Leadership is the heart and soul of any organization (p. 50). Not all criminal
justice managers are the same when it comes to leadership. Leadership is an important skill that
should be utilized at all levels of rank. Good leadership skills will make a difference when it comes to
rendering ethical decisions. Good leaders do not think about themselves, but rather, their actions and
decisions are in the best interest of the organization, its shareholders and stakeholders. There will be
an array of supervisory leadership styles, and that particular style will impact a subordinate s work
ethics as they look up to you as a source of guidance and leader. It is a moral obligation for
supervisors at all ranks in a police department; to instill positive and good work ethics into the minds
of less experienced officers. This case study will explore various management styles and the type of
style I personally chose to lead by. This case study will also evaluate personnel disciplinary actions,
rewards, and motivations in regards to my management style
Analysis
High expectations and efforts are expected from line level officers every day, and the same should be
held for upper management especially in their management (organization), communication and
leadership skills. There is no perfect method or system to render personnel discipline, rewards, and
motivations. Effective organizational leaders have a duty to render decisions that are in the best

How Did Clinton Escape Impeachment
1999 Clinton Escapes Impeachment
In the year 1998, Clinton was investigated and then accused of improperly using money from the
company Whitewater Development and using it to fund one of his previous campaigns. However,
what made the public hostile towards Clinton would have to be the discovery that he possibly had an
affair with White House Intern, Monica Lewinsky. He even lied about it under a presidential oath on
national television, despite their being clear evidence. It was after these two events that the demand to
impeach President Clinton arose. When it came down to the final vote of the Senate in 1999, both
impeachment requests did not receive 2/3 vote from the Senate. Clinton would escape impeachment
and be able to finish off his term.

In September 2013, a male Saudi cleric, Sheikh Saleh Al Loheidan, claimed that women who drive
will have reproductive issues and their babies will be born with clinical problems (Jamjoom, 2013).
This is believed to be in response to a movement protesting the laws against women driving. The fact
that women are banned from driving themselves where they need to go hinders the ability to get to
medical appointments without a chaperone, or walking. On October 26, 2013, a demonstration was
planned for women activists to post video of themselves driving to protest the ban. Women are serving
jail time for violating these laws (Jamjoom, 2013).
As is custom, women must be accompanied by a male chaperone from her family, such as, her
husband, father, brother, or son. This is for the women s protection. Where this becomes problematic
in the healthcare setting is during the patient interview and exam. In 1993, a physician from Canada,
Stephen N. Sullivan, MD, FRCPC, went to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to practice medicine and many of the
difficulties he faced are still relevant today. Dr. Sullivan was unable to obtain a health history from the
female patient. The history was usually given by one or more family members who were present as
her guardian. Dr. Sullivan was unable to perform a full assessment on his female patients due to the
veils covering their faces. The doctor made a diagnosis of thyrotoxicosis from reviewing a patient s
chart prior to an endoscopy. The

Factors Of Imperialism In Nigeria
The people of Nigeria are divided into three ethnic groups the Hausa Fulani, the Yoruba, and the Igbo.
During imperialism, Nigeria was a colony of Great Britain and ruled by indirect control. The Hausa
Fulani would govern their region with their language and Islam religion. Whereas, the other two
regions in the south adopted Christianity and European ways and helped govern their own regions.
When Britain decided to withdraw from the colony in 1960, they set up a Nigerian Federal State with
a central government and separate governments for each of the three regions. The Niger River Delta
region was rich in mineral oil deposits and they also produced palm oil, coffee, and tin for export. The
economy of the new nation was largely dependent on selling oil production leases to foreign
companies and money earned from export of oil. Since, each region had its own government, the
politicians were focused on channeling the wealth from the sale of oil into their own region so as to
benefit themselves, their followers and their own regions. This gave rise to competition, greed for oil
money and corruption among politicians. The party in power at the central government controlled the
oil leases, the import licenses, the construction job projects, and the government jobs. They also got
the bribes from giving out these contracts. When, the first national election happened in 1964, the
political parties used bribery, rigging of votes and violence to win and gain

Compare And Contrast Romeo And Juliet Movie
There were many different aspects of each Romeo and Juliet movie that made all three versions
equally different, exciting, and heartbreaking. First off, in the Zeffirelli version, the producers did a
wonderful job of setting the movie to really reflects how Shakespeare wrote his play. For example, the
movie was set in Verona during the Elizabethan Era, and the clothing and way of speaking to one
another fully represented the old times. Also the casting for this movie was excellent, Olivia Hussey
(Juliet) was very cute and fit the role perfectly, as well as Leonard Whiting (Romeo) who played his
part very well. Lastly, the balcony scene was very sweet and showed how much Romeo and Juliet
loved each other after knowing the other for less than a day. This movie was made so well that there is
really no negative aspects to it. It is simply made and beautiful, but the Elizabethan language is quite
hard to understand, as it should be. Next, in the movie starring Leonardo Dicaprio, the producers did
an excellent job of making Claire Danes (Juliet) look very young. She wore little makeup and had a
flat chest, which represents what a thirteen year old would probably look like back then. Also, the way
they filmed the scene on Romeo s death was incredible. The producers really showed how someone
would react to watching their loved one die. The only aspect that was a little confusing, was how the
characters used guns called swords instead of actually swords. But in keeping their

My Book Of Mormon 121 Class Essay
For my Book of Mormon 121 class, I wanted to choose a lesson that could possibly help me prepare
for a mission. We only have one boy in our family and he is the very last of 7 children. My three older
sisters didn t go on a mission and I was confused when I had the sudden urge and desire to do so. I
thought it was just curiosity, to fit in with the new norm of woman going on a mission, and therefore
have not done anything serious to pursue those feelings. But it came to pass that whosoever did not
belong to the church of God began to persecute those that did belong to the church of God, and had
taken upon them the name of Christ. (1:19). I will be applying the scripture block Alma 1:19 26 which
describes how the people of the Church had to face many trials in order to test their faith.
Living in Utah my whole life, I never had to worry about feeling pressured because of my religion.
My sister who is currently in the army, describes Utah as a bubble that has it s benefits until you leave
it. When I was first introduced to the wonders and horrors of the internet, I realized that there was
world outside of Utah. A world that encompassed swearing, suggestive material, and cruel riles against
my church. I believe that if I had the chance to experience the world, my testimony would be able to

other culture so highly regards its language as a symbol of itself. It is important to at least learn some
basic civilities prior to do business in France. When we talk about punctuality in France, it is treated

The first sad clown to come about didn t even intend to be a sad clown. Charles Dickens wrote Joseph
Grimaldi s life story, which is what made people see him as sad. Grimaldi suffered from depression
after his first wife died during the birth of their son. When the son was thirty one years old, he passed
away because of alcoholism. During one of Grimaldi s slapstick routines, he injured and permanently
disabled himself. An infamous quote from Grimaldi says, I am grim all day, but I make you laugh at
night (Nadel). Charles Dickens wrote The Pickwick Papers in 1836 about a sad, alcoholic clown, a.k.a
Grimaldi s son (Little). Another sad clown in the media would include Weary Willie, a clown who
painted on a frown in the twentieth century rather than the traditional grin (Carlyon) A more modern
day famous clown, called Puddles Pity Party, sings songs and posts them on the website YouTube.
Another sad clown named Pierrot came from the Harlequin era. Pierrot s character has a sad, white
painted face and he wears loose clothing along with a small, french hat (Nadel). Even today, sad
clowns exist. Most people believe that comedians are funny to escape their sadness, and that their

Animal Cruelty In Factory Farming
Hypocrisy comes to mind as I grudgingly watch a woman eat a cheeseburger while wearing a t shirt
with the phrase My Favorite Breed is RESCUED blasted on the front. With every bite I delve deeper
into the question of what exactly is animal cruelty and why does society differentiate between which
animals are worthy and not worthy of liberation. Humans have not only been hidden skillfully from
the atrocious truth that is factory farming, but many choose to remain ignorant as it is easier to ignore
the cries of cattle than to give up a delicious cheeseburger. Selfishly, we have become content with our
socially programmed sheltered view of the world. Fortunately, for us, we can escape the shelter
willingly, for the animals in factory farming, however, the cruelty is almost impossible to escape.
Animal cruelty s controversy should not only focus on domesticated animals but should become
accepted in its literal meaning, which is: inflicting physical pain, either through neglect or abuse, thus
causing unnecessary suffering or death to an animal. According to The Humane Society of the United
States, animal neglect is when the animal s caretaker or owner fails to provide food, water, shelter, or
veterinary care sufficient for survival ( Animal Neglect ). Arguably, the most excruciating cases of
neglect in factory farming are the treatment of chickens. The largest chicken producer in America,
Pilgrim s, maintains their chicken growth through excessive selective breeding and

Checking A Car s Brake System
It is very important you get your brakes inspected and fixed when something goes wrong. You can
avoid getting scammed by taking your car to a reliable auto repair center for a quality brake inspection
or brake repair. A car s brake system is complex, so it needs proper care and maintenance.
If you suspect that there may be a problem with your brake system, you should get it checked out
soon. The experts say that brakes should be checked every 6 months. If your brakes are making loud
noises, squeaking, grinding, going down too low, or not functioning correctly, you need to get it
checked out. If you need to put a lot of pressure to make the brakes work, you probably need to fix
them. If you ignore these symptoms you can hurt yourself or someone ... Show more content on

Personality Model and Job Satisfaction Introduction The big five are broad and general categories of
personality traits, from which multiple subdivisions under the broad headings stem. It is a model used
by many psychologists to attempt to determine and understand personality. The five categories are as

Personality shapes almost every aspect of an individual s life, and being satisfied with one s job is not
an exclusion. The way an individual outwardly and inwardly assesses themselves, their position and
their career, will play a role in their job performance, and ultimately their job satisfaction, which is
defined by some merely as how content an individual is with his or her job, whereas to others, it is
more complex. Job satisfaction to them involves multidimensional psychological responses to one s
job. The Correlation between the Factor Personality Model and Job Satisfaction Statement of Task The
main purpose of this investigation is to evaluate the link between the Big Five Factor of Personality
and overall job satisfaction. To conduct this investigation, the Barrick and Mount (1991) meta analysis
of the correlation between job performance and the Big Five Personality Model will be used as a
guide. Over the last 20 years, unanimity has developed that the five factor model of personality, more
frequently referred to as the Big Five (Goldberg, 1990), can be used to define the most remarkable
aspects of personality. The Big Five structure has become metaphysical across scopes, cultures, and
sources of ratings (McCrae John, 1992). The Big Five has been researched in areas of industrial
organizational psychology, predominantly regarding job performance (Barrick Mount, 1991).

the Gulf Oil Spill does BP have sustainability in this market? This paper will examine the early history
of the company. It will look at the competitive advantages of the organization by looking at its SWOT
analysis. The company s market strategy will be examined including its growing interest into

BP has several weaknesses. Currently they are holding a large percentage of liability. Some of that
liability is due to the Gulf oil spill and the other is tied in the uncertain and sure to fail dealings to get
a foothold in the Russian oil market. Additionally, the Gulf oil spill has marred the reputation of BP to
the United States, BP s largest customer. This has resulted in dwindling sales and halts to new drilling
within the US and its waters. BP also has had a track record for cutting costs that have resulted in two
other large accidental spills only five years ealier. In 2005, a refinery in Texas caught fire and in 2006
a section of the Alaskan pipeline burst (Bryant, 2010). These events showed neglect on the part of BP
and lead to the record sized fine imposed on them.
In regards to opportunities, we see a progressive increase in the price of oil. Although there is an
obvious fluctuation in the price of oil from day to day, the overall trend is a defined increase in the
price of oil. There are also new deposits being discovered. BP has shown through historical experience
that they are willing to take great risks to achieve results. Some may have not gone as planned, but
they have the drive to at least attempt. There current PR state is also open to opportunity. The public
relation state of BP, especially in the United States, is at some of its lowest levels in history. This was
also listed as a current weakness, but BP has

Analysis Of The First Circumnavigators
Brent Sather Professor Halavais History 376 27 September 2017 Exploration of the World Throughout
Harry Kelsey s book, The First Circumnavigators , as well as, Roger Crowley s book Conquerors ,
they both explain many misfortunes and hazards that the Spanish and Portuguese explorers faced
during the various expeditions that set sail on. Many misfortunes that happened on the voyages
included bad weather, scarce food, individual faults, as well as attacks and invasions. One of the major
misfortunes that Harry Kelsey describes is the difficulty of the changing weather. For example,
Magellan accounts on his voyage that, On 6 April 1522, the Trinidad, after undergoing extensive
repairs and with fifty four men aboard, left Tidore and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of this was the cause of death for many and serious illness for others. In particular, many men ate
the great lizards large shiny things and only a few of them are still alive. The survival of the crew was
one of the biggest priorities. This was one of the biggest hazards that the crew had to deal with. On
Magellan s Voyage, The next day was Easter Sunday, and Magellan ordered everyone to go ashore and
attend Mass. After this he invited the officers to dine with him on the flagship. None of the
conspirators accepted the invitation. Instead, they waited until nightfall, then quietly boarded the San
Antonio and put Captain Mesquita in chains. The ship s master, Juan de Elorriaga, was fatally stabbed
when he tried to intervene. These individual actions by traitors on the ship created many unfortunate
situations between the crew members that could have been avoided. During another part of the
Magellan Voyage, it was stated that, Finally on 18 December, the vessels were ready to sail. The
Victoria left first, waiting outside the harbor. But a dragging anchor on the Trinidad opened a seam in
the hull, and water rushed in. Repairs were impossible without unloading the ship. This was an
individual action that could have been avoided. If the anchor was brought in before the boat was
launched, it would have saved them more time for travel, as well as more room for the crew if they
weren t piled in one boat having to come back later for

My Father The Major Has A Big Announcement For The Town
My father the major has a big announcement for the town. People all over the city are getting a virus
called plague or the black death he said. As the major went on the capitol will be here soon to take
away our contestants for this year s hunger games.
If they don t make it in time we will have to evacuate the city and who ever is left behind we must
leave behind the major said. Everyone started to gasp and panic. I thought to myself, but what about
gale and my sister Prim he can t leave his family and neither can I he still has his mother and I have
my father. My mother died from pneumonia. His father left them to escape the capitol one day and they
caught him running through the woods where Gale and I hunt. That day the capitol found him, ever
since then Gale had to take care of his family on his own.
As I walked down the road to Gale s house I stopped by the bakery to see that nice man with the witch
if a wife. Hello is the bakery open right now? I wanted to know if I could talk to the man of the
bakery. He never told me his name and he never talked a lot. I think it s because I talk too much.
People always say at school that all I do is blabber my mouth about anything I can. I think my father
told me stop right here but I don t remember because of the announcement. I waited awhile...still no
one came out. Then I heard a big CRASH. So I grabbed the pan that the water was leaking in from the
roof and started walking into the back. My father always told me to

Living in two different countries is a unique experience that gives you a new way of thinking. In my case I have lived in Colombia and now in the United States. Despite bearing some minor similarities, the differences between this to countries are notable in geography, festivities, economic and food. Colombia is located in South America, is divided into five regions: Andina, Pacifica, Caribe, Amazonica and Orinoquia. It has thirty two states. Colombia is bordered to the north by Panama, to the east by Venezuela and Brazil, south to Peru and Ecuador, and to the west by the Pacific Ocean. Colombia is the only South American country with coastlines on the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, which has several islands as the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina. Sea Urchin (Lytechinus Purpuratus) Fertilization The Effect of Salinity on Sea Urchin (Lytechinus purpuratus) Fertilization Nicky Friedman, Lewis Sorokin, Alyssa Raifsnider, Jake Lippi Franklin and Marshall College, October 4, 2016 Introduction Due to an influx of freshwater from melting polar ice caps, the overall saline concentration of various saltwater environments has been steadily decreasing for years, thereby endangering their inhabitants (Lessios, 2008). For these organisms, including Lytechinus purpuratus, a species of sea urchin, this environmental change has the potential to harm many of their natural functions. As such, it would be expected that the gametes of this organism would not be able to properly fertilize when their natural environment is altered. In this experiment, L. purpuratus eggs were exposed to a natural environmental saline concentration (Cowart et al., 2008), as well as two environments above and two environments below this natural saline concentration. This was done in order to test their ability to be fertilized and the rate at which they fertilize under this environmental stress. It was believed that the conditions below the natural saline environment would have a greater adverse effect on the fertilization success of the sea urchin eggs than the environments above the natural saline solution. This was predicted because sea urchins, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This represents a 2.5% rise over the previous year, continuing the trend of increasing elective caesarean rates (Health Social Care Information Centre, 2015). Indications for a caesarean section (CS) can include foetal distress, previous CS, breech presentation, abnormal progress during labour, etc. (Vacca, 2013). • 8. Foundational Biblical Worldview Paul is writing the book of Romans as an occasional letter to the believers in Rome, whom he has never personally met, but desires to connect with very soon. It appears to be a pastoral letter written in an apocalyptic style, because he is dealing with a church that needs direction. He is writing boldly to them to encourage unity as God s people. Romans 15:15 attests to the strength of his message when he states, I have written very boldly to you on some points . Paul is in essence building a framework of beliefs for believers to view the world around them (Caner Hindson. 2008. Pg.498). This movement didn t happen overnight, but it is a production of the human nature. The human or sinful worldview demands for its own rights, its own way, its own desires to be fulfilled. Continuing to build a foundational message with boldness, Paul explains that the reason God sent the law was to bring our sin to our attention so we would realize how desperately we need His grace. He points out that sin had already conquered the human race long before the Law arrived, which is indisputably proved by the fact that sin had already produced death in every human (Romans 5:21 New Living Testament). Sin and self separate us from God, grace brings us near. Romans 6. Since we have united with him in his death, we will also raise to life as he was. Verse 12 Paul remind believers that our life in Christ gives us power over so, Do not let sin control the way you live do not give in to sinful desires. A lesson that I have learned the hard way is that people will let you down, but God never will. Another important aspect for a foundation of a biblical worldview is in human relationships. • 12. Evolution Of Database Management Systems EVOLUTION OF DBMS 1.INTRODUCTION As technology is rapidly emerging and changing, organizations are quickly adapting to it, and with this technology and software advancement includes database management systems. Database management systems have become a crucial tool in every organization. It will be rather more surprising to see a company not using DBMS in this age. As organizations emerge and grow by years, they have numerous data sets to handle and database management systems is a software application which helps organizations perform this mundane task easily. It collects, organizes the databases and also stores and performs functions on the databases making it easier for users to access. Now days, an organization wouldn t survive without data and information. The way this data is important for an organization, to manage this data is equally important. Database management systems has become a part of every field right from schools, libraries, medical centers, airlines, chemical plants etcetera. With the effective use of database management systems software in organizations, it comes with advantages and disadvantages which will be later explained in the findings section of this paper. The research would concentrate more on how database management system applications have progressed since the past decade. The research objective is to study the evolution of DBMS and learn about the emerging alternative applications for this traditional system. The positive and negative effects ... Whereas, the other two regions in the south adopted Christianity and European ways and helped govern their own regions. When Britain decided to withdraw from the colony in 1960, they set up a Nigerian Federal State with a central government and separate governments for each of the three regions. First off, in the Zeffirelli version, the producers did a wonderful job of setting the movie to really reflects how Shakespeare wrote his play. For example, the movie was set in Verona during the Elizabethan Era, and the clothing and way of speaking to one another fully represented the old times. Also the casting for this movie was excellent, Olivia Hussey (Juliet) was very cute and fit the role perfectly, as well as Leonard Whiting (Romeo) who played his part very well. Lastly, the balcony scene was very sweet and showed how much Romeo and Juliet loved each other after knowing the other for less than a day. This movie was made so well that there is really no negative aspects to it. It is simply made and beautiful, but the Elizabethan language is quite hard to understand, as it should be. Next, in the movie starring Leonardo Dicaprio, the producers did an excellent job of making Claire Danes (Juliet) look very young. She wore little makeup and had a flat chest, which represents what a thirteen year old would probably look like back then. Also, the way they filmed the scene on Romeo s death was incredible. Animal Cruelty In Factory Farming Hypocrisy comes to mind as I grudgingly watch a woman eat a cheeseburger while wearing a t shirt with the phrase My Favorite Breed is RESCUED blasted on the front. With every bite I delve deeper into the question of what exactly is animal cruelty and why does society differentiate between which animals are worthy and not worthy of liberation. Humans have not only been hidden skillfully from the atrocious truth that is factory farming, but many choose to remain ignorant as it is easier to ignore the cries of cattle than to give up a delicious cheeseburger. Selfishly, we have become content with our socially programmed sheltered view of the world. Fortunately, for us, we can escape the shelter willingly, for the animals in factory farming, however, the cruelty is almost impossible to escape. Animal cruelty s controversy should not only focus on domesticated animals but should become accepted in its literal meaning, which is: inflicting physical pain, either through neglect or abuse, thus causing unnecessary suffering or death to an animal. According to The Humane Society of the United States, animal neglect is when the animal s caretaker or owner fails to provide food, water, shelter, or veterinary care sufficient for survival ( Animal Neglect ). Arguably, the most excruciating cases of neglect in factory farming are the treatment of chickens. The largest chicken producer in America, Pilgrim s, maintains their chicken growth through excessive selective breeding and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
