Sex Determination By Amplification Of Amelogenin Gene From...
Sex determination by amplification of Amelogenin gene from dental pulp tissue by PCR
Abstract
Introduction: Forensic odontology necessarily involves the application of dentistry along with various
other branches of sciences to resolve criminal cases with legal issues. Sex determination is a part of
forensic odontology and an en essential priority when traditional identification of the deceased
becomes impossible due to certain mishaps, including natural calamities, acts of war and terrorism or
criminal cases of homicide and mutilation of bodies.
Aim: To determine Sex by analysis of the Amelogenin gene using PCR method on DNA isolated from
dental pulp, which was exposed to various environmental conditions created artificially to mimic a
forensic scenario.
Materials and Method: This in vitro study was conducted by subjecting extracted teeth to various
conditions imitating a forensic scene, viz. desiccation at room temperatures, immersion in salt water,
burial in soil and even exposing to temperatures of 150 ºC, 250 ºC, 350 ºC. DNA was extracted from
dental pulp tissue and sex determination was achieved by amplification of the amelogenin gene
through AMEL gene based primers in PCR.
Result: Among all the samples used in this study, DNA could be extracted from all, except from those
that were subjected to a temperature of 350 ºC. DNA amplification and sex determination of the
samples were found to be accurate when compared to known data.
Conclusion: This study shows teeth to be

Tennessee State University (TSU) Health Care Administration and Planning Student Organization in
the Department of Public Health, Health Administration, and Health Sciences HCAP 3900 Technical
Writing and Communication students are requesting funding to provide Telehealth services for
DeKalb Community Hospital. Telehealth services will benefit this hospital because of its rural
location. Rural areas lack the healthcare services needed to treat patients, which causes the population
to have to treat elsewhere. Providing Telehealth services to this hospital will prevent the population
from traveling hours to receive treatment. The amount requested to provide the Telehealth services is
$300,000 per year, which is six million dollars in total. The reasoning for the services, an action plan,
and a budget justification are included in the proposal. The Telehealth services will include the use of
technology to deliver telemedicine. The budget will fund the hospital with videoconferencing
software, computers, webcams, and trained employees to set up and document the process. The
equipment will allow physicians or patients to consult virtually with other physicians and specialists.
Instead of missing a day of work or school and commuting hours for an appointment with a specialist,
patients will be able to visit their local hospital and consult with the specialist via technology.

Financial Advice Essay
In the early 1980s, there was an economic downturn in Australia, to find out the cause of this event,
the Australian government has established a financial system survey in the year 1996. This survey was
conducted by a businessman named Stan Wallis. He published his investigation report in 1997, titled
the final report of the deregulation of financial services; it commonly referred to as the Wallis Report .
Wallis found that the most suitable structure for Australia will then include two regulators: one who is
responsible for prudential regulation of any entity that needs to be cautiously supervised; another one
is the market and management of any financial products that are provided to the Australian consumers.
In 28 June 2012, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
c. Consumer perceptions: there are evidence shows that some people feel financial advices are out of
their reach. Therefore, they will not try to seek financial advice. d. Consumer mistrust of financial
planners: due to the corporate collapses caused by the financial scandals, lots of people do not trust
financial planners any more. They consider financial planners as liars. This increases the biased
opinion for financial advice. e. Access to general advice and information: some financial industries do
not provide enough general advice and factual information to their consumers. The scale of general
advice and financial information is less than what it should be. f. Financial literacy: in some area or
financial related topic, consumers have limited engagement with financial matters and they do not
seeking for financial advice. This is the gaps in financial literacy.
The issues for people to access to financial advice cause Australian Government decide to change in
regulations. The recent FOFA reforms focus on improving the quality of financial advice and lessen
the risk of customers paying ongoing fees unknowingly for services they are not getting (Koremans, S,
2011).
In order to achieve the goal of improve the quality of financial advice, there are some changes made to

Ownership and Structural Forms of Business Organization
Ownership and structural forms of business organization, applicable laws, requirements for their
formations, and advantages and disadvantages
Type of Ownership * Single or Sole Proprietorship. It is a form of business organization which is
owned by one person. The owner personally manages his business. Most of businesses in the
Philippines (including those which are not registered) belong to single proprietorship. Examples are
retailers, market vendors, barbers, tailors, and so forth.
a) Advantages of Single or Sole Proprietorship
1) It is easy to organize. Financial capital is small, and registration requirements are not difficult to

The most common example of partnerships are professional partnerships, like in the case of law firms
and accounting firms. Just like a corporation, it is registered with the Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC).
A partnership, just like a corporation, is a juridical entity, which means that it has a personality distinct
and separate from that of its members. A partnership may be general or limited. In a general
partnership, the partners have unlimited liability for the debts and obligation of the partnership, pretty
much like a sole proprietorship. In a limited partnership, one or more general partners have unlimited
liability and the limited partners have liability only up to the amount of their capital contributions.
Unlike a corporation, which survives even when a member/stockholder dies or gets out, a partnership
is dissolved upon the death of a partner or whenever a partner bolts out.
d) Applicable Laws
Unlike corporations whose governing law is a special law the Corporation Code of the Philippines,
partnerships in the Philippines are governed by and covered under Articles 1767 to 1867 of the Civil
Code of the Philippines [circa 1950]. These are the provisions of law which govern all aspects of
partnerships from their creation, formation, existence, operation and management to their dissolution
and liquidation, including the obligations of the partners to one another, to the public or

The Dual Meaning Of The Closet
Henry Urbach uncovers the dual meaning of the closet as an architectural container and metaphoric
location to mask sexual identity. As an architectural container, the closet is a place where things are
stored. Putting away things that are not needed or wanted for display. The closet allows a room to look
cleaner and less clutter. Centuries ago closets were mainly wardrobes, how do closets from today s
society compare to closet wardrobes that were used years ago? Typically we say your clothes are in
the closet or the towels are in the closet but when people say, Jake has come out of the closet we don t
literally mean he walked out of a closet unit, but he or she has revealed their sexual identity. This
phrase is used because being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The term coming out of the closet is from the 20th century. It is hard for the person to come out with
who they really are. Although the decision to come out is a personal one, disclosure has been
facilitated by a variety of institutions and social movements: The re appropriation of stigmatizing
labels, (finding words that are less pejorative to describe a stigmatized group) advocacy and support
groups (a second social phenomenon that facilitates disclosure is the advocacy and support groups
made up of people who are out) and outing (a third phenomenon related to disclosure is outing).
(Corrigan, P .2003) According to Rosario, Schrimshaw, Hunter, Braun (2006), the development of a
lesbian, gay, or bisexual (LGB) sexual identity is a complex and often difficult process. Unlike
members of other minority groups (e.g., ethnic and racial minorities), most LGB individuals are not
raised in a community of similar others from whom they learn about their identity and who reinforce
and support that identity. Rather, LGB individuals are often raised in communities that are either
ignorant of or openly hostile toward

Rhetorical Devices In The Great Influenza By John Barry
What is scientific research without competent scientists? John M. Barry s The Great Influenza,
characterizes scientific research as a commendable venture. Barry uses rhetorical strategies such as
repetition, compelling diction, and vivid imagery. These tactics aid the reader s comprehension of the
author s purpose. The purpose is to convince readers that scientists require certain traits to overcome
the challenges of scientific research. The passage in reference suggests that John M. Barry holds
scientists in high regard. The use of repetition in the passage from The Great Influenza emphasizes the
admirable work of scientists and enhances the overall praising tone. The courage of successful
scientists is referred to several times throughout the passage. In lines 8 to 10, the author s use of the
word uncertain in consecutive sentences with anaphora can be linked to the repetition of the word
courage in lines 9 to 10. The eager acceptance of uncertainty leads to bravery in the world of science.
This appeals to the reader s perception of bravery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Barry identifies the obstacles a scientist must conquer in this passage. When describing the movement
of a scientist throughout their field, he uses the words forcefully and aggressively . The use of this
diction persuades the reader of the difficult work of scientific research and the strength of scientists.
The phrases grunt work and tedious work in line 37 describe the strenuous workload of a scientist.
The field of scientific research can be viewed as a frontier but the author takes this comparison further.
In lines 25 to 29, the scientific field is likened to the wilderness. This descriptive diction highlights the
uncertainty mentioned throughout the account and emphasizes the depth of scientific research.
Throughout the passage, diction is used as a tool to persuade the reader that scientific research is

MSC Case Study
Li et al.,(109) investigated whether human MSCs contribute to the repair of skin appendages after
injury. They co cultured BrdU labeled MSCs with heat shocked confluent sweat gland cells SGCs, in
vitro. They found that a subset of adult MSCs differentiated into SGCs. The percentage of
differentiation was found to be enhanced by EGF and the injured microenvironment. In vivo, when
they intravenously injected Labelled MSCs into full thickness skin wounds in rats, Labelled cells were
noted in hair follicles, sebaceous glands, blood vessels and dermis in full thickness wounds and the
incorporated cells in hair follicles and sebaceous glands were positive for pan cytokeratin. After

However, when the possibility of MSCs to enhance wound healing and neovascularization by trans
differentiation into endothelial cells or fusion in cutaneous wound in diabetic rats was investigated by
Javazon et al., (114). They concluded that MSCs improved wound healing through indirect
mechanisms, as MSCs were found in close proximity to CD31+ vessels, which may reflect a MSCs
induced, paracrine mediated proangiogenic local wound milieu which lead to enhanced
vascularization rather than through direct participation and incorporation into tissue. They labelled the
cells with GFP and the tissue wounds were labelled with antibodies to GFP and CD31 , they found
that no double labelled cells were identified in any of the wounds. So trans differentiation into GFP
positive mature endothelial cells was not observed. Also, cellular engraftment was restricted to the
dermis and wound bed. As GFP cells were not found within the epidermis or epidermal appendages,
MSCs were unlikely to contribute to the keratinocyte population. But they found that MSCs
significantly enhanced re epithelialization, granulation tissue formation, and neovascularization
compared with control wounds.

Homophobia in American Beauty
I watched the movie American Beauty a couple of days ago and saw how homophobia might be a sign
that the homophobic might be a homosexual. So I though I d write about it. American Beauty centers
on the last year of Lester Burnham s life. Lester Burnham, played by Kevin Spacey, is married to
Carolyn Burnham, played by Annette Betting, and their marriage is picture perfect on the outside, but
the perfection is only superficially. Their marriage is based on projecting one image a picture perfect
suburbia lifestyle when it is in fact quite the opposite. Colonel Frank Fitts played by Chris Cooper, is
the new neighbor who is presented as a homophobic man. He hates on and puts down the homosexual
couple in the neighborhood constantly. So what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Men fear humiliation or weakness because they always have to present everyone this image of being
though, dominant and dependent; men despise anything that goes against these traditional views of
masculinity. This traditional thoughts lead to homophobia. The media is constantly portraying men in
a violent or dominant way in the movies, TV shows, etc. Asians are almost always portrayed as
martial artist or violent criminals and Latinos as boxers, criminals or though gangsters.
Ever since the Colonel moved in he shows this extreme disgust towards homosexuals around his
neighborhood. He even shows this behavior towards his son Ricky when he becomes suspicious of his
(Ricky s) relationship with Lester. Probably when the Colonel was growing up, being gay was the
worse and he tried to hide it from his parents and thought the army might help straighten him out and
got married to try to appear like a normal man. At the end of the movie Frank believes he sees his son
taking money from Lester for sexual favors and this results in Ricky leaving the house.
Castañeda 3
The death of Lester Burnham is simply because he aroused his homophobic neighbor. Lester appears
to be sexually available to men when he tells his neighbor: Our (Lester s and Carolyn s) marriage is
just for show...a commercial for how normal we are, when we re anything but... He (Frank) attempts
to kiss Lester, proving his hidden desire for men.

Letter To A Humorous Wedding
Dad,
Several days ago, we sat downstairs in the living room and hung out. We talked about politics, spring
break, Taylor s Wedding, and Christmas. I mentioned to you how I have reached the age of not
needing anything for Christmas. I thought long and hard about what to get you for a gift and I was
stuck. We are a very lucky family, to have a nice home, nice cars, and the ability to have leisure s in
life some people can only dream of. So when it came to deciding what to get you for Christmas, I felt
it was only right to give you the gift you most deserve, a thank you.

Postpartum Depression In Women
Postpartum depression is a mood disorder in females that is known to be present within the 4 to 6
weeks after childbirth (Battle et al). This condition is the most common complication after childbirth
(Mosses Kolko et al.,2009).Studies have shown predictors which lead to postpartum depression such
as maternal childhood maltreatment and lifetime posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)in pregnancy
(Seng 2013).A variety of factors exist among certain subgroups of women that may lead to postpartum
depression. Postpartum depression affects approximately one out of eight of the more than four
million women who give birth in the United States every year (Kruse et al. 2013a). The estimation of

By identifying women at high risk then they can receive early interventions. Many of the risk factors
can be present during the pregnancy or during postpartum period (Mallikarjum 2005).
Postpartum depression has some risk factor, and a study showed that a poor sleep during the third
trimester of pregnancy is a risk factor for postpartum depression, which is related with the age of the
women (Wu 2014).Furthermore, Jomeen and Martin also found that during pregnancy the first three
trimester are very important because according to the PSQI test poor sleep increase the symptoms of
postpartum depression(2007).Also, another study showed that poor sleep habit has a stronger
correlation with depressive symptoms (Goyal 2009). Additionally, women who had a history of
previously depression are more likely to have postpartum depression (Kettunen 2014). This depression
is a concern because women with postpartum depression show less early interactions with their infants
than women who are not depressed (Field 2010). Under these circumstances postpartum depression
not only affect the mother but also her

Games Design As Narrative Architecture By Henry Jenkins
Narrative research
Introduction
Games and story, which on opposite sides of the interactivity. After reading a paper named Games
Design as Narrative Architecture by Henry Jenkins, I think controlling the balance of gameplay and
storytelling is important to game designers if they want to design a game with narrative. For this essay
I will be analysing two completely different examples, focusing on their narrative and gameplay in
order to explain this issue. In addition to this, I will also provide some games I have played and
combine the theories in this paper and other books to analyse their different ways to create immersive
narrative experience in the game.
What is narrative? Confliction of narrative and gameplay
Narrative, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Storytelling is one of the most important forms of play indeed (Crawford, 2013), however not every
player would like to read story in games, they enjoy the process of achieving goal, too much narrative
even can be experienced as an unwelcome interruption (Jenkins, 2004). In order to avoid this
situation, game designer should using environmental storytelling in various ways to build a game
space which full of narrative. So players can enjoy the game itself and narrative in same time.
Here is an example, which is not positive but can demonstrate the importance of keeping balance of
game and narrative. Ensemble Star is a Japanese smartphone game, which I have played for one year.
Its narrative is completely attractive and impressed, however, its experience of gameplay is very
inconspicuous. Players only need to read stories, spend money to get cards and collect items to
strengthen their cards. Players can make some choices, but their choices cannot cause serious
consequences to the overall stories. So strictly speaking, I think it is not a game but a novel with
interactive function. Yet, its Chinese version add some game mechanics and blend into game story,
which makes this interactive novel more like a game. For example, every character have their back
stories. In Japanese version, players only can tap stories button to read. But in Chinese

The Causes Of Food, Hunger, And Around The World
It is a sunny day and you are watching T.V, when a thought comes to your mind and wonder what are
other people doing around the world while you re enjoying your life? Are they happy, working, or
survive hunger? Their are millions of things at can cause hunger all over the world, and they are still
happening. 795 million people do not have enough of the food they need to live an active, healthy life
(Mercy Corps 1) Food hunger can happen anytime or anywhere, and can be caused by anything, too.
However, some causes of hunger are by war, weather and climate, human population, storage
facilities, natural disasters and global warming. The most destructive is drought, poor or failed
harvests can turn in resulted of food scarcity and high prices available of food(harvest 1). The other
one that is more common in people is having no money. In some countries or places, men are the only
ones that have a good opportunity to a job, education, and money. Women are the opposite of that,
they have less job options women are the ones who stay in the house and taking care of children. Lots
and millions of people are suffering for food because they can t afford it or have no way to receive
some. There are campaigns helping people but not enough for this situation. Hunger doesn t only
affect one place in the world, it can spread to different locations affecting the population that lives
their. 60 percent of the world s hungry are women and girls (Mercy Corps 1). Because women have

Freedom Of Rights
Tie up to other rights:
The freedom of speech and expression, is a right, which is directly or adjacently related to other rights,
imparting its limitations. These limitations are kept so as in the public interest. The right to fair trial is
nearly related to freedom of expression, as it also limits access to search for information. The right to
freedom of expression is actually important for the media or the printing press, because these
organizations are considered to be the Voice of People . The actual work of the media is to awaken the
people from wrongful justice.
The freedom of press is considered as the most valuable right in definitely a democratic society. The
freedom to press works upon the freedom of speech and expression, taking along the John Milton s
arguments of considering the access towards information and ideas. The media plays an important
factor in a democratic society, as it plays a special role as the barrier of the general right in the
freedom of expression.
There are also some criticisms regarding the right to freedom of press. Judith Litchenberg has marked
some circumstances in which freedom of press may restrain freedom of speech. For example, ther s a
condition where the press just crushes the information which is genuinely meant to reach the public
may get to the public which some or the other specimens in it. Judith argues freedom of press as a
simpler form summed up by the principle of No money, No voice .
The freedom of information can

The setting of the Declaration of Independence was the United States. It was declared on July 4, 1776.
After the Boston tea party rebellion the United states wanted their independence. One will describe
why the declaration of independence was written. What lead to the cause for writing such a document.
The leaders who wrote the declaration. And what the colony was going through for it to lead to the

Why the declaration of Independence was written? There were many reasons for which the
Declaration of Independence was written. Although each of them was focused on the liberty and
freedom from the British. The setting where the declaration of independence was written was the

Police Discrimination And Discrimination
Most middle class whites have no idea what it feels like to be subjected to police who are routinely
suspicious, rude, belligerent, and brutal (Benjamin Spock) . In the United States and around the world
different people face discrimination, inequality, and racism because of the color of their skin instead of
content of their character. However, the shocking thing is that the violence can be seen in the
protectors of Peace and Liberty, the Police. They as humans also hold a sense of bias and racism and
act accordingly to their own personal desire instead of by the law. African Americans have cower and
be weary around the police because the police are rude and belligerent. When someone of a certain
race are faced with inequality and discrimination there will be protest and when protest do not work it
becomes riots. The thing that sparked the Watts Riots was when a police officer attacks a black male
and his mother for drinking and driving. In a New York Times article it states, When another officer
began hitting Mr. Frye and his mother, who had rushed to the scene, onlookers started throwing stones
and bottles . This shows that there was fault in Mr. Frye for drinking and drinking but he should have
been fine or arrested instead of being abused and assaulted. The conflicts with the police has been
going on for many years and this event sparked the protests into a full out riot. The U.S History in
Context states that,

Paper On Magnets
There is not much that can be done without the use of magnets. The obvious uses are in hospitals with
MRI machines, in our car and mobile phone speakers so we can hear our calls and enjoy our music.
However, the use of magnets in nearly all electronics is often overlooked. Electronics need magnets to
run, whether it s a vacuum cleaner, the windows in a car, or the office telephone. Although men lived
and worked at one time without magnets, it is impossible today. Living, working and relaxing today
would be nearly impossible to do without magnets.
History of Magnets Magnets were likely discovered by a shepherd named Magnes in Greece. What he
found were loadstones, which contain magnetite, (Fe3O4) which is a natural magnetic material. ...

While walking or riding a bike to work is great for the environment, it is not always the best mode of
transportation if you want to get to work on time. Usually, we need to drive to work, school or to the
gym or at least catch the bus. However, this cannot be done without magnets in the solenoid to engage
the starter motors! On a scorching day, we all like the refreshing chilliness in our air conditioned
homes and watch a movie on Netflix or perhaps play Okami on our Nintendo Wii. Yet, we cannot even
do these without magnets. Putting the groceries away in the refrigerator, mixing up the cake for
dessert, compacting the trash or starting the dishwasher are all things we would not be able to do
without magnets. We do not only need magnets to make our lives nicer and simpler, but also for our
health and for industry. The discovery of a relationship between electricity and magnetism made
possible the invention of the electric motor (Electric Motors, 2008). Without one or more fixed
magnets combined with a movable current carrying coil, electric motors will not run. Pinball
machines, paintball markers, dot matrix printers and fuel injectors in vehicles all use magnets by
means of electromechanical solenoids. A solenoid is a tightly wound helix of current carrying wire

The objective of these unknown experiments was to take a mixed culture, which contains two
unknown species, and identify those species through a series of tests. The group was informed that
one species of bacteria would be a gram negative bacillus and the other would be a gram positive
coccus. The tests to be conducted ranged from streak plate isolation to biochemical tests. Each test to
be conducted was discussed and agreed upon by all group members. The results of each test were
analyzed by the group and led to selection of the next test that would further narrow the possible
identity of the unknown species. On September 16, 2010, our group was given a mixed culture in

From last week s test, we achieved pure cultural characteristics from the two slants we made. The
growth we saw on the agar slant that contained the yellow specimen was a soft, smooth, yellow
growth. The growth we saw on the beige specimen was a thin, even, beige growth. Both cultural
characteristics were achieved in the appropriate categories. The categories we were looking for
contained abundance of growth, pigmentation, optical characteristics, and consistency. Today we will
be preparing two bacterial smears from each specimen and Gram staining them. The reason we are
conducting this test is to differentiate between two principle groups, gram positive and gram negative
and to further know if a pure culture from both organisms was achieved. This is important for
classification and differentiation of microorganisms. The Gram stain reaction will help us tell the
difference of the chemical composition of bacterial cell walls. The Gram stain procedure uses four
different reagents such as crystal violet, gram s iodine, ethyl alcohol, and safranin. Before the Gram
stain is performed we must make two bacterial smears of the two specimens. We placed one loop of
distilled water on a clean slide aseptically. He transferred the specimen from the agar slant that
contained the yellow growth and placed it on the slide with the water and gently mixed it together in a
circular motion approximately the size of a nickel. He let the smear air dry for one minute and gently

The extent to which Wooden s pyramid of success fits today s business environment
Touching on some key tenets of his pyramid of success, he provides what is ideal, what if followed
would lead to great success. The pyramid ideals don t really aptly fit in today s business environment.
Most of the times, the flag is usually highly held up by the leader, a C.E.O or the managing director of
an organization. The staff usually does not follow through with these aspirations. Workers are not
enthusiastic about their job roles; they are there because they needed a job. They thus do not care
about being their very best in what they do. Leaders also have no time to make the staff work as a
team; to some leadership is not a calling. It is something they have to do to earn a living which is a
really pitiful situation.
However, top management in most institutions exhibit key alertness especially those in political
campaigns or competitive parties. For example currently, in the US, the battle between Trump and
Hillary is quite stiff. The men and women behind them exhibit great initiative, alertness and somewhat
self control. If I may continue using political examples the current President and deputy president of
Kenya, Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta and Mr. William Ruto went through the storms of

Katrina And Hurricane Katrina Similarities
It has been over a decade that we witnessed the catastrophe that wreaked havoc on New Orleans. That
infamous catastrophe is popularly known as Hurricane Katrina. However, in recent news it appears
that we have another disastrous hurricane within our midst. Hurricane Harvey has since devastated the
state of Texas, and more specifically the large city of Houston. This article helps to detail the
comparisons between the two hurricanes. Although Hurricane Harvey is still in effect, there are many
similarities and differences that we can already see between it and Hurricane Katrina. One main
difference is the cities population sizes; while New Orleans had an estimated 455,000 people, Houston
has a population of two million people. The city of New Orleans also resided below sea level. The
precautions to hurricanes were also very unique. For New Orleans there was an issued mandatory
evacuation a day before the storm made landfall. Although, there was an evacuation about 100,00
people remained stuck in the city. However, for Houston there was no evacuation issued, civilians
were simply encouraged to take shelter. A few days after Harvey made landfall, people were then
urged to leave the area. One similarity is that both of the cities had systems to keep from possible
flooding. New Orleans had a system of levee walls and Houston had a system of waterways and
bayous. When Hurricane Katrina made landfall near the Louisiana and Mississippi border, it was
categorized as a category

Norse People Research Paper
The Norse people were a very complex group who were portrayed as savages and killers, but instead
were an advanced group, skilled workers and very democratic and this can be seen through their gods,
goddesses, and rituals. Could it be that the way that people describe a civilization for so long change
the way that people see them? Throughout history the Norse people have been portrayed poorly while
in reality they are not completely the way that they are described to be. Not only are they polytheism,
believing in multiple gods, but they act very much like their gods. Life in the ancient times was
different than we know it today. It was much more difficult trying to get a hold of daily resources. The
Vikings houses mostly consist of wood as they were surrounded by trees. Not only did they trade, but
they also farmed on their land. They ate twice a day once in the morning, and once at night. They
raided nearby town for supplies that they needed and along the way they would capture others to turn
them into their slaves. Although they did raid they never had many slaves. It was once reported that
there was up to 25,000 Vikings living in Iceland in the mid 900 s. The Norse did not have books, but
they did have an alphabet, so they passed on history by stories and poems. Their alphabet was made
up runes, are the letters in a set of related alphabets. There are still remains of the runes in some parts

What Are Pesonality Traits in the Work Environment
What are Personality Traits in the Work Environment?
What exactly are personality traits in the work environment? Personality traits are simply a person s
actions, attitudes, and behaviors being displayed. The work environment being covered is currently in
need of what many call an extreme intervention. Currently several coworkers are dealing with one
individual who is using various counterproductive work behaviors to create a negative work
environment. Many of these behaviors include harassing coworkers, creating un welcomed conflict,
not being truthful, sabotage, and purposely withholding information from others.
Ms. Helpful is Assigned
As these measures of negativity persisted in the work group it becomes very challenging for all others
including the manager. The conflict that several parties are currently observing has be come extremely
divergent, and is negatively affecting employees in the work group. Finally after several complaints
about a certain individual to management, it was decided there was a strong need for intervention. The
group was assigned a Human Resource Liaison Ms. Helpful.
Although, Ms. Helpful is a mediator at this point. It is well known that mediators have a defining
control factor with the intervention processes. A mediator develops the language and manages the
development and environment of communications with the involved coworkers. However, the parties
make the final decision about how to resolve their differences. Thus, me diators have

The Field Of Eating Disorders
My goal in becoming a clinical psychologist is to specialize in the field of eating disorders. After
obtaining my PhD, I aspire to become a tenured faculty member at a research university, using my
research and clinical training to enhance the understanding of the etiology, course, and treatment of
eating disorders. As an established researcher, I will leverage my research by writing grants to address
my research hypotheses and disseminate my findings in journals and conferences. Additionally, I seek
to evaluate the efficacy of various treatments in hopes of constructing a comprehensive and holistic
model of care that properly addresses every aspect of the individual and his/her disorder. Through this
research, I hope to provide valuable contributions to the field and to become a more effective and
empathetic clinician. The firmly established passion I have for this area of study determined the
experiences I pursued during my undergraduate years. Pioneering the first psychology research lab, I
have worked as a research assistant for the past two years at Franciscan University of Steubenville
with Dr. Stephen Sammut. I spearheaded the design and execution of a funded research study
examining the relationship of exercise, spirituality, and well being. My responsibilities included

Customer Orientation Of Airport Service Quality
Introduction
The aviation industry is one that is consistently changing and the demand in air travel is on the rise.
With the rise in air travel, airports need to be able to handle the traffic. But the problem is that service
quality in an airport declines when the airport has reached its design peak hour or even exceeded it.
This simply means the airport cannot handle the amount of passengers it has thus customer
satisfaction decreases.
Today s air travelers have meaningful choices among airports and there is an increasing urgency
among airport marketers to differentiate themselves by meeting the needs of customers better than the
competition. While passengers perception of airport service quality is only one of several variables
(e.g. routes, scheduling, location and prices) that contribute to overall airport attractiveness, it is
nevertheless an important variable because of the increasing importance of a customer orientation to
competitive advantage in this industry.(Fodness Murray, 2007)
Solving it would result in a more efficient airport which can reduce the amount of delays at an airport
whether is from aircraft landing or taking off or passenger traffic within the terminal thus giving the
airport an advantage over the competition by becoming a preferred airport.
Literature Review

Who Is J. D. Salinger s A Perfect Day For Bananafish
All things truly wicked start from innocence by Ernest Hemingway. This quote is important because it
relates to Seymour Glass, the main character in the short story. Glass was an ordinary man before
returning from war as a completely different man, a man that was no longer innocent, but in some
ways, extremely tainted. J. D. Salinger s short story, A Perfect Day for
Bananafish , showcases different writing style techniques that help to better improve the effectiveness
of his writing. The techniques he utilizes include: inferences throughout the story, repetition, dialogue,
style, imagery, and even symbolism

His use of symbolism is also important to his style. One example of symbolism is when Seymour tells
Sybil is wearing a blue swimsuit when both of them were on a beach that they frequently met and
talked to each other at. The color blue, in Western literature symbolises deity and spiralituity
(Hochman). Another example of symbolism being used develop his style is when Seymour kisses
Sybil s foot, this occured right before Seymour left Sybil for the last time before returning back to his
room and committing suicide. This act from Seymour is seen and perceived as Seymours gratefulness
for Sybil s perception (Hochman).
J. D. Salinger furthers his style by using a variety of elements like repetition, symbolism, or
characterization. Salinger s way of writing forces the reader to read between the lines. They can either
be surprised by the ending or could have seen the outcome from the beginning, because of his writing
style. However, the reader must reread the story and try to understand it.
All in all, his style changes how each reader interprets the story with his aforementioned elements of

I feel that girls encounter more obstacles and provisions, thus growing up is more difficult for them.
For one, society put a lot of emphasis on how a girl should behave and how she should look like. This
puts so much pressure on girls to conform to what society expects them to be. This often affects a girl
s self image resulting in low self esteem and insecurities.
I also feel that girls have the burden to work harder in various areas (not just in academics) to prove
that they are as capable, and that they can be as successful as the boys. In a gender biased society,
boys are often favored as the torch bearers, and girls feel the need to perform comparatively well to

San Implementation Essay
SAN implementation over Gigabit Ethernet
A Storage Area Network is virtualized storage.
A storage area network (SAN) is a dedicated, centrally managed, secure information infrastructure,
which enables any to any interconnection of servers and storage systems.
A SAN can be configured to provide a nearly infinite pool of storage that you can grow and move
between servers as they need it. The storage can be added to and removed without requiring the server
to be rebooted. The services provided by the server continue to operate without interruption.
The primary purpose for implementing a SAN is to provide a large storage pool that multiple hosts

What is Gigabit Ethernet.
Gigabit Ethernet supports 1000 Mbps over Ethernet media. Because it is similar to existing Ethernet
and Fast Ethernet standards in that it uses the same frame format and collision detection mechanisms,
Gigabit Ethernet is easy to integrate with existing Ethernet networks. It was designed as a Ethernet
backbone switch to switch and switch to server technology.
To provide the speed increase from 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet up to 1 Gbps, several changes needed to
be made to the physical interface of Gigabit Ethernet versus Fast Ethernet. It was decided that Gigabit
Ethernet will look identical to FibreChannel at the physical layer. By taking advantage of the existing
high speed physical interface technology of FibreChannel while maintaining the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet
frame format, backward compatibility for installed media, and use of full or half duplex carrier sense
multiple access collision detect (CSMA/CD), customers will be able to use their existing knowledge
base to manage and maintain gigabit networks. They would not have to throw away their existing
network infrastructure.

Politicial Voting Rights Violations In The United States
In 1964, the Supreme Court ruled that all states must draw electoral districts based on the population
so that political power is equally shared and represented. However, justices did not specify the method
the states should use. In the time since the 1964 ruling, lower courts have never found that any state
violated the Constitution by using the total population. This is the way it has been and it seemed this
was the way it would always be but Sue Evenwel, a county chairwoman for the Texas Republican
Party, felt this was unfair to her equal vote.

Why Is Witchcraft Important
WITCHCRAFT The first thing you need to learn about witchcraft is that it s not inherently evil. Many
modern Neopagans and Wiccans strongly resemble with this concept, and profess codes that prevent
them from performing magic on a person without their request. It is extremely powerful, extremely
dangerous, and often permanent. The concept of a magic worker influencing another person s body or
property against their will was present in many cultures, as traditions in both folk magic and religious

Similarities Between Englishment And Nationalism
Explaining the concept of Caribbean identity has proven to be challenging because the Caribbean is
considered to be a melting pot of various ethnic groups and culture. However, in the discourse of the
concept of Caribbean identity, the terms Scottish Enlightenment and nationalism are pivotal to this
discussion. Hence, the author of this paper will describe both terms and explain the similarities
between both concepts.
Scottish Enlightenment

individuals to solve problems. According to Berry (2000) the Scottish Enlightenment refers to a self

natural state of civilization and that individuals are innately social and their capabilities were
insignificant beyond a social framework. Nationalism shares this belief in regard to the concept of
solidarity founded in the preindustrial period (Hutchinson Smith, 1994). Moreover, both the Scottish
Enlightenment and nationalism contributed to national development and was seen in establishment of
buildings and monuments (Hutchinson Smith, 1994).
Furthermore, nationalism, similar to the Scottish Enlightenment contributed to nation building in the
context of recognition and unification of the community by offering an evolutionary view of its
society. Moreover, both nationalism and the Enlightenment altered the mind set of individuals
especially in times of social unrest. The thinkers of the Enlightenment and the cultural nationalists

ambition as a strong desire to achieve, the persistent and generalized striving for success. This differs
from the high achievement people because ambitious people value more the rewards of their
competencies in task performance and this allows leaders to perform hard and challenging goals for

Financial Advice Essay In the early 1980s, there was an economic downturn in Australia, to find out the cause of this event, the Australian government has established a financial system survey in the year 1996. This survey was conducted by a businessman named Stan Wallis. He published his investigation report in 1997, titled the final report of the deregulation of financial services; it commonly referred to as the Wallis Report . Wallis found that the most suitable structure for Australia will then include two regulators: one who is responsible for prudential regulation of any entity that needs to be cautiously supervised; another one is the market and management of any financial products that are provided to the Australian consumers. The pyramid ideals don t really aptly fit in today s business environment. Most of the times, the flag is usually highly held up by the leader, a C.E.O or the managing director of an organization. The staff usually does not follow through with these aspirations. Workers are not enthusiastic about their job roles; they are there because they needed a job. They thus do not care about being their very best in what they do. Leaders also have no time to make the staff work as a team; to some leadership is not a calling. • 25. Katrina And Hurricane Katrina Similarities It has been over a decade that we witnessed the catastrophe that wreaked havoc on New Orleans. That infamous catastrophe is popularly known as Hurricane Katrina. However, in recent news it appears that we have another disastrous hurricane within our midst. Hurricane Harvey has since devastated the state of Texas, and more specifically the large city of Houston. This article helps to detail the comparisons between the two hurricanes. Although Hurricane Harvey is still in effect, there are many similarities and differences that we can already see between it and Hurricane Katrina. One main difference is the cities population sizes; while New Orleans had an estimated 455,000 people, Houston has a population of two million people. The city of New Orleans also resided below sea level. The precautions to hurricanes were also very unique. For New Orleans there was an issued mandatory evacuation a day before the storm made landfall. Although, there was an evacuation about 100,00 people remained stuck in the city. However, for Houston there was no evacuation issued, civilians were simply encouraged to take shelter. A few days after Harvey made landfall, people were then urged to leave the area. One similarity is that both of the cities had systems to keep from possible flooding. New Orleans had a system of levee walls and Houston had a system of waterways and bayous. When Hurricane Katrina made landfall near the Louisiana and Mississippi border, it was categorized as a category ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Norse People Research Paper The Norse people were a very complex group who were portrayed as savages and killers, but instead were an advanced group, skilled workers and very democratic and this can be seen through their gods, goddesses, and rituals. Could it be that the way that people describe a civilization for so long change the way that people see them? Throughout history the Norse people have been portrayed poorly while in reality they are not completely the way that they are described to be. Not only are they polytheism, believing in multiple gods, but they act very much like their gods. Life in the ancient times was different than we know it today. It was much more difficult trying to get a hold of daily resources. The Vikings houses mostly consist of wood as they were surrounded by trees. Not only did they trade, but they also farmed on their land. They ate twice a day once in the morning, and once at night. They raided nearby town for supplies that they needed and along the way they would capture others to turn them into their slaves. Although they did raid they never had many slaves. It was once reported that there was up to 25,000 Vikings living in Iceland in the mid 900 s. The Norse did not have books, but they did have an alphabet, so they passed on history by stories and poems. Their alphabet was made up runes, are the letters in a set of related alphabets. • 30. Customer Orientation Of Airport Service Quality Introduction The aviation industry is one that is consistently changing and the demand in air travel is on the rise. With the rise in air travel, airports need to be able to handle the traffic. But the problem is that service quality in an airport declines when the airport has reached its design peak hour or even exceeded it. This simply means the airport cannot handle the amount of passengers it has thus customer satisfaction decreases. Today s air travelers have meaningful choices among airports and there is an increasing urgency among airport marketers to differentiate themselves by meeting the needs of customers better than the competition. While passengers perception of airport service quality is only one of several variables (e.g. routes, scheduling, location and prices) that contribute to overall airport attractiveness, it is nevertheless an important variable because of the increasing importance of a customer orientation to competitive advantage in this industry.(Fodness Murray, 2007) Solving it would result in a more efficient airport which can reduce the amount of delays at an airport whether is from aircraft landing or taking off or passenger traffic within the terminal thus giving the airport an advantage over the competition by becoming a preferred airport.
