The Book Of Daniel ( Summary )
Chase Jones Theology P.6 December 1, 2016 The Book of Daniel (Summary) Chapters 1 2, 4 6 1 In
the third year of the reign of King Jehoiakim of Judah, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came to
Jerusalem and besieged it. God let King Jehoiakim of Judah fall into his power. Then the king
commanded his palace master Ashpenaz to bring in some Israelites of the royal family and of nobility,
young men without physical defect and handsome, versed in every branch of wisdom, endowed with
knowledge and insight, and competent to serve in the king s palace. They were to be educated for
three years, so that at the end of that time they could be put in the king s court. Among them were
Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, from the tribe of Judah. The palace master gave them
different names: Daniel he called Belteshazzar, Hananiah he called Shadrach, Mishael he called
Meshach , and Azariah he called Abednego. To these four young men God gave knowledge and skill
in every aspect of literature and wisdom; Daniel also had insight into all visions and dreams. Among
all the young men, no one was found to compare with Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah;
therefore they were stationed in the king s court. In every matter of wisdom and understanding
concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and
enchanters in his whole kingdom. And Daniel continued there until the first year of King Cyrus. 2 In
the second year of Nebuchadnezzar s reign,

Literacy In South Africa Essay
Literacy
In past years, Illiteracy was a big issue to some countries like Pakistan, Ghana Ethiopia, South Africa
and other places in Africa. Over the past years, the government of these countries focused on
education. The levels of literacy in these countries was too high and there were causes of negative
impact toward education. For instance, literacy rate of girls in Pakistan and family were the negative
impact. Literacy rates for both gender was too high in Ghana, Ethiopia and South Africa and the
negative impact was poverty. The government want to reduce literacy by doing many things. For

rate. Ghana was poor country in past years, so, the Government were trying to do the past to improve

Years ago in South Africa teacher teach the student in a library rather than schools. In 1994, most of
the students did not go to the school, students just go to the library to study and workshop with their
teachers during the literacy project. Children in elementary schools drop out because family pressure.
Some families began to send their children to enroll in drama schools rather than general schools
because of low fee. Also, some students said we shall now focus on the drama workshops because
they feel that drama schools worth it, and the tuition of the drama schools were not that expensive.
The article indicated some good reasons to enroll in a drama school were the low fee and children
were learning from the school. Some people indicated that drama workshops were the solution to the
linking of literacy. South Africa s young children faced many emotional problems, and there were a lot

The New Structural Social Work As A Social Innovation
Social work contemplates establishing social justice through social transformation, and social
transformation, in many cases, leads to an innovation, especially social innovation. The purpose of
this paper is to explore whether The New Structural Social Work (Mullaly, B., 2007) can be
considered an innovation. The origin of social work is traced back to the end of the nineteenth century,
when the Charity Organization Society movement began in 1877 in the United States of America, and
the Settlement House movement started in 1884 in England. In both the cases, rapid industrialization,
urbanization (Mullaly, B., 2007), and mass immigration contributed to escalating people s plight due
to oppressions resulting unemployment, destitution, hardship, begging, and crimes. Social system was
dominated by power, and resource distribution was unidirectional. A group of people from the higher
strata of the society (Mullay, B. 2007) came forward to address people s plight based on individual
cases. The primary focus of the then social work, later known as conventional social work, was
individuals (Mullay, B. 2007) instead of social system. The intertwined relationships between
individuals and the social system were totally ignored or unapprehended (Mullay, B. 2007). The
conventional social work, thus, can be characterized (Carniol, B. 1992) as follows: 01. The
conventional social work is mainly based on advocacy and support focusing upon individuals
requirement. Social workers

Graduate Teaching Assistants
INTRODUCTION
Graduate teaching assistants (GTAs) play an essential role for undergraduate college education at
many research universities in the United States. In many cases, the quality of GTA teaching ingrains a
crucial and lifelong signature in undergraduate students that affects career choices and development.
This is especially true due to the fact that a large majority of GTAs in chemistry teach freshman and
sophomore year undergraduate students. Therefore, the quality of GTA teaching has a long but
foreseeable impact on the future scientific community and for our society at large.
Not only are GTAs a vital component in teaching chemistry to undergraduates, but the training that
they themselves receive impacts their own development. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This training is to ensure that, as teachers, GTAs are sensitized to equity in the classroom. A
representative from the Provost s Office is invited to deliver wider ranging training on workplace
harassment to include Title IX issues. Since GTAs can experience harassment issues both as students
and as teachers, this training is especially important and has been well received. Also discussed is the
importance of academic freedom and open discourse within the current

The Valuable Lessons Of Sookan s Character
Throughout the book Sookan has learned many valuable lessons, but one of the lectures she has
learned seems to loom in her improved personality. She transformed herself into a selfless adult, she
turned responsible and giving. She learned how to feel, care, and love like a true person should, like
how every person should...
In the commencement of the novel Sookan was briefly oblivious of the circumstances or sentiments of
the people surrounding her. She was considerably selfish and frankly a sort of self obsessed. This is
not indicating that Sookan was not an outstanding person, forth she was. But she simply was not
exposed to the cruel planet, and all of the terrible aspects of the land. For example when the sock girls
were hard at work Sookan hankered to talk to the girls not even crossing her mind of their unfortunate
circumstances. When I might be able to talk to my favorite sock girls (Choi 11)... Sookan was not able
to comprehend their arduous predicaments, but she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

mother from the line... We have to move on and wait for her where the Russians won t see us (Choi

free. They had a guide, everything had gone just as planned, all seemed right, but then their mother got
stopped and taken away on their grand travel to the south. Sookan recognized what she had to
undertake, she was now responsible for a life, a child. She sucked it up and transformed into a girl
with a culminated maturity, she calmed down little Inchun. And did the hardest thing, she left her
mother behind, she sensed and knew so accurately that she had to do this to survive. No matter how

Analyzing The Poem The Frog Prince
Is a poem without any specific sound easy to understand? Possibly not! In most poems, a poet uses
assonance or consonance to draw special attention to specific parts of the poem. A poem with
assonance or vowels tells the reader about how low or high the sound is, giving them a sense of the
emotion of the character or the poet at that specific part. On the other hand, consonance determines the
friction or tone of a word or line, telling the reader when to slow down or when to read faster.
Assonance and consonance helps to create rhyme in poems; a rhyme is a repeated sound at the end of
each line that unifies the structure of the poem. In the poem, The Frog Prince by Robert Pack,
assonance and consonance are repeated to create a smooth rhyme. ... Show more content on

Pitch is defined as the quality of the sound. He uses words and sounds with same pitch at the end of
every line to form a unified structure to easily catch the reader s consideration. For instance, the first
four lines end with surprise , frame , body , and name (lines 1 4, p735) and all of these words have the
sound of se (ee), me (ee), y (ee), me (ee) at the end. Since e has a high pitch, these words are very
quick to pronounce and they create a unified structure. However, line 5, The joy she must have felt to
learn , disrupts the unity of the structure, because it has an ugh sound in it which is low pitch it doesn t
rhyme well with the first four lines. To recapture, the reader s attention Pack ends line 6 and 8 with
phases such as wonder and under. These words create a rough er or rh sound which indicates a major
and drastic change in the princess life. Moreover, line 10, 12, and 14 end with a heavy dah sound. For
example, it takes a lot of energy to pronounce the following words: read , bed , and said. Overall, the
dah sound beautifully executes the dramatic shift in mood, from the frog s transformation into a prince
to the princess mother s confrontation of the prince and princess in the

Civil War Clothing Essay
We can walk into any store, Nordstrom, Tommy Hilfiger, Levi s, JCPenney, Men s Warehouse, select
and try on several articles of clothing within the hour. Let s try this simulation. Allow me to provide
you with cloth and sewing materials; I challenge you to divide yourselves to work together and sew
together a pair of pants, in hopes of modeling conditions before the greatest revolution of the clothing
industry, the era of ready made clothing. On my side, the present garments will represent the luxury of
pre stitched clothing. The standardization of clothing sizes served as a step towards an overall growth
in convenience for consumers. Preceding the Civil War, ready to wear clothing stores were few and far
between, and selection limited itself to only a few sizes. This is in stark contrast to the options present
at big chain stores today. This is attributed to the fact that the majority of clothing was either tailored
by dressmakers or at home, which either demanded a premium or proved to be a bother. The Civil War

efficient and abundant choices through advancements in machinery and new distribution models.

How Does Batman Tell The Dark Knight
The DC flick Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stayed true to its title, as the movie introduced the
first five members of the Justice League and ended with a hopeful note as Ben Affleck s Bruce Wayne
asked Gal Gadot s Diana Prince to help him seek out other metahumans. However, the one character
that got more screen time was Ezra Miller s The Flash, who also appeared in Bruce s dream sequence
with an urgent message.
But what was The Flash trying to tell the Dark Knight? In the scene following a terrifying vision of
destroyed cities, parademons and an evil Superman, Bruce is jolted awake to see the Speedster calling
out to him from what appears to be a boom tube telling him, You were right about him! Lois is the

Leadership Is A Complex Social Phenomenon
Leadership is a complex social phenomenon that appears to be simplistic regarding the theoretical
application in defining the term. However, the idea and concept of leadership are deeply rooted in the
psychology and social setting and its construction within these areas. It goes beyond the discovery
factors of traits, behaviors, power, influence, and abilities that social scientists have been studied and
adapted for the attachment of expounding this paradox (Yukl, 2010). Due to the nature of its imprecise
conceptualized framework, leadership has been the most discussed and talked about topic for the last
century or so and it does not appear to end soon; over 6,300 books on the subject and 1,400 hardcover
books relegated to the topic available for sales (Krohe, 2000); 16,000 published articles since 1990
(Galinsky, Jordan Sivanathan, 2008). The concept has become romanticized in the context of imagery
and perception of what makes a great leader as being a heroic figure (Meindl, 1998). Presentation of
this thought process has caused such ambiguity in defining what leadership is regarding: (a) the
definition itself and its measurement, (b) leader s effects on performance, and (c) the selection process
of a good leader (Pleffer, 1977). This discernment is caused mainly by the academicians and
practitioners; academicians prefer the in depth of research and studies for further understanding and
discovery, whereas practitioners want immediate remedies in the application of

Chrysalids Group Seminar
The Chrysalids Seminar
Sumayyah Betrayal and loyalty those are two strong words that might have affected us some time in
our life. The terms betrayal and loyalty are also relatable when we started our novel the Chrysalids by
John Wyndham. In the novel the author shows the concept of betrayal and loyalty as the ultimate
result of poor relationships.
Jamal Betrayal and loyalty are represented by the various kinds of relationships and their impact on
one another.
Misty This is illustrated in two ways. Firstly the act of loyalty is shown as a result of true friendship.
Pratish And secondly the act of betrayal is the result of poor family relationships and friendships. We
would now like to begin this seminar by supporting and proving ... Show more content on

It is clear that Anne no longer cared for the group ultimately betraying and risking the life of everyone
in the group. This effected many people such as Anne herself because she ended up taking her life
because she did not the trust the group also the whole group need to stay more alarmed just in case
anyone found out about their skills.
Pratish Betrayal was also the result when aunt Harriet asks to borrow her sisters baby to receive a
certificate for normality, the sister refuses furiously showing no empathy or kindness. This is seen
when Aunt Harriet enters David s moms room and begs to borrow Petra in exchange for some days.
David s mom cold heartedly replies In all my life. I have never heard anything so outrageous... To
think that I should led you my own child This quote is important because it shows that Aunt Harriet s
sister is so hateful towards deviants and blasphemies that she would not even bother helping her own
sister. It also shows that Aunt Harriet and her sister don t have a strong family relationship. This
develops the thesis because it shows poor relationships are the results of heart breaking betrayals.
Misty Therefore it is clear that betrayal and loyalty is depended on the kind of relationship you have
with the person. For example this was proven when David attempts to save Sophie from Allan even
though it was a great risk.

Depressants Their Effects
Depressants and Their Effects In today s world people are becoming more and more dependant on
drugs, in particular, depressants. By definition, a depressant is a chemical agent that diminishes the
function or activity of a specific part of the body. There are many different types of depressants
ranging from sleeping medications to laughing gas, and of course the most common, alcohol. Like all
medications, there are the legal and illegal types. Heroin, marijuana, and GHB which is commonly
used as a date rape drug, are among the illegal depressants. Ambien and Benadryl are legal

There are several types of illegal depressants that can be found around the world. One of the most
common illegal depressant is cannabis, also known as marijuana, weed, pot, hash, etc. Cannabis can
cause a hallucinogenic effect if consumed in large quantities. Opium and drugs derived from it fall
into the same category as cannabis but is more addictive which may cause more health problems.
Long term use of these substances can lead to problems and complications associated with memory,
concentration, and motivation. Heroin, also known as smack, skag, or hammer, is also an illegal
depressant. This drug is among other strong pain killer drugs, such as morphine, called analgesics. The
long term use of these drugs can lead to heart and lung problems. Other problems include tetanus and
damaged veins from injections. The unknown purity of heroin puts users at risk for overdose. Each
time a user shoots up , they may think that they are injecting the same amount as before, but it may be
more potent which can be lethal. Gamma hydroxyl butyrate, commonly known as GHB, a date rape
drug is also an illegal depressant. GHB also has street names such as liquid x or liquid ecstasy. It is
typically a colorless, odorless liquid with a slightly salty taste. This allows individuals to slip it
without notice to another person. Its effects may include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, agitation, and
visual disturbances. It may

Pre Assessment Of Student Interest
Pre Assessment of Student Interest: To assess student interest in planning a school dance, I would use
a bubble map. I would ask the students Have they ever attended a school dance? Then I would ask If
you have attend a school dance write down what you liked about the dance. If you haven t attend a
school dance write down what you think you might like to have at a school dance. Example of bubble
map: Students may add more off shoots bubbles if they need to. My PBLBubble Map.docx
As students complete their bubble maps, I would ask them to come up to one of the six poster papers
hanging on the wall, and write one or two of their likes that they had written down. Once all students
had a chance to write down a like on one of the poster papers, the class as a whole would compare the
six list and discuss what they had in common and uncommon with their classmates as far as what they
would like to have at a school dance.
Project Hook: The day that I am pre assessing student interest, with the bubble map and the poster
papers, the classroom will be decorated with balloons, decorations, and streamers. I will call the
principal to my class and she will unveil the project by explain what services she is requesting for the
school dance by the party planning company. The company winning the bid will provide a

Early Life Of Buddhism Essay
Furthermore, Buddhism was founded in the late 6th century B.C.E. by a man named Siddhartha
Gautama, who is infamously known as the Buddha. Buddhism is the most influential religion in a lot
of the Asian countries. Buddhism has assumed many different forms over the years, but there has
always been an attempt to draw from the Buddha s life experiences and the essence of his teachings,
known as dharma. These life experiences and teachings model an appropriate religious life. However,
it wasn t until the first or second century that there was a complete account of the Buddha s life and
that was due to the writing of Buddha Charita, which is the life of Buddha, by Ashvaghosa (The
Origins of Buddhism).
In a place near the Himalayan foothills around 563 B.C.E, the Buddha was born, and he then began in
inspirational teachings around Benares at Sarnath. Buddha s life were in times of widespread
religious, spiritual, intellectual, and social uproar, making his teaching gravely influential. Siddhartha

Transtheoretical Model And Theory Of Planned Behavior
1. HEALTH BEHAVIOR INTRODUCTION
According to the Department of Health and Human Services (2015) (HHS), physical activity generally
refers to any body movement that improves one s health by working their muscles. Physical activity
can range from walking to running to doing yoga. However, the lack of physical activity is becoming
an increasingly prevalent health problem in the world today, particularly women in developing
countries. Regular physical activity is vital in women s health to prevent many of the leading causes of
death linked with insufficient physical activity. Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of
death for women around the world, accounting for one third of deaths. Also, cardiovascular disease

The transtheoretical model is one of the best models to use for analyzing physical activity because it
takes into account the attitude changes, time measurement of behavior change, helping and
maintaining the desired behavior using different strategies for each stage. The transtheoretical model
has five states of change that consist of pre contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action,
maintenance and termination. Pre contemplation is when an individual is unaware or does not intend
to change their current behavior. An example of this would be someone with a negative attitude to
switching from his or her sedentary lifestyle to include physical activity. Contemplation refers to an
individual who is considering making a behavior change, such as deliberating on increasing physical
activity even though they have not started yet. Preparation refers to when an individual has made the
decision to begin taking action, meaning they have a plan and strategies in place to increase their
physical activity. Action is when an individual acts on his or her new behavior change of incorporating
physical activity into their lifestyle. Maintenance is when an individual has made the health behavior
change and is now focused on keeping the change going. The termination stage means that the
individual has completed the process of the behavior change and it is not just a part of their daily
routines. The transtheoretical model was most appropriate because similar studies that have been
conducted on women with diabetes and osteoporosis based on this model and it has been successful in
changing the physical activity behaviors (Pirzadeh, Mostafavi, Ghofranipour, Feizi, 2015).
Additionally, the processes of change work best at each stage to facilitate progress and prevent
relapse. Since women in countries like Iran don t have access to

Hamlet Nihilist Analysis
To be or not to be a nihilist
In 1927, Martin Heidegger observed that nihilism was already the normal state of man that the
disbelief in life having objective meaning is the most prevalent. If Heidegger is correct, then our
current era is one in which Hamlet would fit in well.. Critics have proposed that Hamlet is too much of
a refined intellectual to commit a callous act such a murder, a more plausible claim is his crises of
inaction not caused merely by a quirk of character or spirituality, it is in fact caused by a lack of spirit:
Hamlet is not religious, he is a nihilist. Through his deep pessimism, incessant brooding, and radical
skepticism, Hamlet shows his colors as a nihilist who believes in nothing and has no purpose. When
Hamlet admits that there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so (Shakespeare, II. ii.
254 55), Hamlet displays his lack of belief in even fundamental concepts such as good and evil; he
dismisses them as mere constructs of the mind. Hamlet should be devoutly religious as a man in
Christian Denmark. However, since he has a self professed lack of belief in good and evil, and
therefore, religion and God, action is not possible because Action requires the veils of illusion.
(Nietzsche 35).
Hamlets nihilistic bent rises to the fore when conversing with Rosencrantz and gentle Guildenstern.
During their first discussion they produce a malignant energy that leads them to deep cynicism and a
demeaning of all good and pure ideas

Lorelai Victoria Gilmore
Prenatal/Perinatal Development
It s a girl! Lorelai Victoria Gilmore was born on April 26, 1968 with no known birth defects to Emily
and Richard Gilmore. She got an APGAR rating of one for appearance, two for pulse, two for
grimace, a one for activity, and a two for respiration. Her mothers choose to breast feed her because
breast milk is almost always the best food (lecture slides). She used disposable diapers because they
are easier and Lorelai would just ruin the reusable ones anyway like she ruined her pretty white dress
with twelve petticoats when she spilled grape juice on it during her first birthday pictures. She slept in
a crib because it reduces the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) along with having nothing
else in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She does not have any known genetic disorders that would affect her progress in school. Lorelai has
been acting differently lately; one day she refuses to go to school and Emily demands to know why
she does not want to go to school, pestering her until Lorelai spills that she is being bullied at school
by a peer so Emily speaks with the bully s parents and uses her connections to the principle s wife to
assure that Lorelai will be protected from the bully. She fails to address Lorelais emotional needs
though since bullying can lead to depression and suicidal thoughts. She also prompts the bully to
transition from blatant sexual comments and gestures to using relational aggression to isolate Lorelai
and try to make her peers ignore her (Ludden, 2015). This attempt is not very successful because,
aside from the bully and his immediate clique, Lorelai s wit and gregariousness makes her popular
among her peers. Emily gets a call from the neighbor that Lorelai threw a rock through their window
so she politely tells the neighbor that she will pay for the window and invites the neighbor to dinner
that night where Lorelai is made to formally apologize. Lorelai is

Summary Of Evil And Omnipotence By J. L. Mackie
J. L. Mackie s Evil and Omnipotence criticizes the argument that God exists by showing that religious
beliefs are positively irrational and that parts of the essential theological doctrine are inconsistent with
one another. The problem of evil is one of the oldest problems in philosophy. The problem of evil is a
logical problem for only the people who believe that there is a God who is both (1) omnipotent and (2)
wholly good; yet (3) evil exists in the world. If God is wholly good and omnipotent, then how can
there be a presence of evil in the world. Given the presence of evil, we must either conclude that God
does not have the power to prevent the suffering that evil causes in which case God is not omnipotent
or that God does not wish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, these solutions are only temporary or almost adopted by the thinker because the thinker may
not be consistent in their definitions and convert back to the old definitions. Therefore, these solutions
are not true solutions, so we must find another way to solve the problem of evil.
The next set of solutions are called fallacious solutions. A fallacious solution is a solution defined as
an argument which rejects one of the propositions but then, implicitly reasserts it later in the argument
to solve the problem. However, these fallacious solutions use an equivocation use of the words good
and evil , which cause vagueness about how good and evil are opposed to one another. Mackie notes
that these so called solutions may seem plausible at first, but, in fact, do not amount to a solution
which rejects any principle that causes the contradiction.
The first fallacious solution is that Good cannot exist without evil. The idea behind this solution is that
evil is a necessary counterpart of good. Without evil, there could be no good in the world. Therefore,
God could not have created the world without any evil in it because there would be no good. By
saying that God cannot create good without creating evil at the same time contradicts premise one
(that God is omnipotent) and premise five (that there are limits to what an omnipotent thing can do).
Mackie rejects this

The Assassination Of John Lennon
As the followers of the English singer and songwriter who is famous worldwide as a co founder of the
band Beatles John Lennon always do on December 8, they assembled at the Strawberry Fields
memorial in Central Park to sing a well known Beatles songs and they continue to hope for a world
that lives as one. The Tuesday s gathering was the 35th anniversary of John Lennon s killing, and was
showcased with the feeling of the miniature peace festival, as Lennon s admirers congregated in a
circle around a stone designed of the word Imagine graying men strummed guitars and emotionally
played a tambourine. In the online world, however, John Lennon s commemoration was intensely
engaged in one of the political fights of the moment, as much on social media pulled a link to modern
gun violence in the U.S.A. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s the same image that Ms. Yoko Ono has posted before, on anti gun billboards and on an album

several books on the Beatles and a dean at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J. Kenneth
Womack, said the energy on social media this year around the anniversary of the death of John
Lennon was striking. Kenneth Womack stated, It is certainly occurring at a time when individuals are
galvanized around this debate. Womack added that John Lennon would have been suitably outraged
and part of the debate. I have almost no doubt in my mind about that, he

The Development Of Qin Shi Huang In China
Power. It is a concept that has always been part of human societies regardless of time period or area.
Though expressed in different ways and structures, it was and still is part of human civilizations today.
However, within the establishments of power, many conflicts arise for both those in power and those
governed by the rulers, such as problems over the selection of new authority figures and the
retainment of their power. This conflict can be recognized from the ruling of Qin Shi Huang in China
in the mid 200s BC. He is well known for uniting the Chinese states during the Warring States Period,
in which the country was broken up into states that were in a war for dominance (Mark). Shi Huang
ultimately founded the Qin Dynasty and worked to improve humanity by helping construct the Great
Wall for defense and the Lingqu Canal for commerce (Mark). However, he later began to threaten
those who refused to comply with his ideas, and he became more concerned with becoming immortal
and keeping his power (Szczepanski).
Due to his obsessive desire over the idea of immortality and maintaining his imperial status in the
afterlife, Qin Shi Huang decided to recreate the entire Chinese empire underground as his tomb
(Szczepanski). About 700,000 laborers were hired to build this mausoleum over a course of 36 years;
more than 8,000 unique, life size terracotta soldiers as well as horses, chariots, jewelry, and ritual
ships were created ( Qin Tomb ). These terracotta soldiers each had

The Synthesis Of Apomorphine Was Historically Accomplished...
Introduction: Apomorphine has been used as far back as 2000 BC. In 2000 BC the Mayan s noticed
that the bulb and root of water lilies gave a narcotic feeling, as well as acted as an aphrodisiac and
partial hallucinogen.1 Apomorphine belongs to a class of molecules called aporphines which are
present in water lilies, more specifically in Nymphaea caerulea and Nymphaea ampla.1 While mild
effects were shown in parts of water lilies, scientists wanted to know what exactly caused these
effects. The compounds were isolated and tested to determine that apomorphine was the most active
ingredient. The concentration of apomorphine was so low in the plants that isolation was impractical
so a synthesis was designed to investigate the properties of apomorphine further; leading to
apomorphine being used for Parkinson s disease, erectile dysfunction, and most recently Alzheimer
disease.
Synthesis2: The synthesis of apomorphine was historically accomplished by an acid catalyzed
rearrangement of morphine. This method typically had low and varying yields: anywhere from 0.6%
to 46% yield. In 2008, a new synthesis was patented that shown yields as high as 55% to 70% yield.
This new synthesis, scheme 1, uses phosphoric acid as the catalyst and phosphorus pentoxide as a
water scavenger water is the by product of the reaction and the phosphorus pentoxide irreversibly
binds to the water. The solution would then be heated to 90 100℃ in an inert atmosphere for two
hours.

Key West Essay
Key West
Key West is many people s paradise. It has dazzling waters, beautiful beaches, and a wonderful
climate. This tiny island is located off the southernmost part of Florida is the only true tropical island
in the United States. Thousands of people from all over the world come to Key West every year for the
relaxing lifestyle and rich culture. As well as being rich in culture it is rich in history too. Key West
has also been the home to many great authors and artists and is known for having a very diverse
population.
Initially, Key West was a home for Spanish explorers and pirates until the first settlement was
established in 1822. In 1822 the U.S. Navy sent Commodore David Porter to the island. He was sent

Then after the war, the industries success decreased, but the immigration of Cubans to Key West
increased. The cigar industry soon grew to phenomenal heights and the island became a refuge for
Cuban revolutionaries (Gifford 9).
The more successful Key West was the more populated it became and soon the city we now know as
Miami spun off of Key West. In 1871, the arrival of the Cuban San
Carlos Institute and Opera House made Key West a rich and diverse city. The island did suffer from a
fire that destroyed fifty acres of downtown property in 1886, but by then there was a steamship service
and that made reconstruction of the city quick and easy (4).
Soon the good luck of Key West was about to run out. A hurricane arrived and was so destructive that
it forced the cigar industry to the Tampa area. Then, their second main industry, that was the sponge
beds, was destroyed by a blight. The only (5) thing they had left was the tourist industry and the
Florida land boom collapsed in the
1920 s, so the only tourists they had were people passing through to Cuba. During The
Great Depression the island s problems escalated. In 1934, the people were considering abandoning
the island because up to 80% of the population was on relief. Then a major setback occurred. The
biggest hurricane to hit Key West happened on Labor Day 1935.
The hurricane packed winds up to 200 miles an hour and killed hundreds of people. Key

Impact Of Drugs On Northern Ireland
Impacts of drugs on Northern Ireland Northern Ireland has had a long and hard history with violence
and oppression. For generations the people of Ireland have been at war with them selves, this has
caused lots of damage to the overall health of Ireland. The violence now is at an all time low, meaning
that this is the ideal time for Ireland to look at what harm, both mental and physical, the years of
violence has caused. The Irish people have always been known as drinkers of alcohol, this has been
one of the substances that people have been using to self medicate in Ireland for generations. There is
also a large issue with hard drugs in Northern Ireland, this has become a huge issue that Ireland has
not seemed to do be able to do anything about. Ireland has a large drug issue that stems from years of
violence and mayhem, this drug problem only causes more violence of its own. Ireland cannot move
towards a more lasting peace until they do all that is in their power to stop the rampant drug abuse that
is in their country. The people of Northern Ireland have been surrounded by violence for years, many
have added to it, and many more have been hurt by it. These wounds are not always physical they are
also mental as well, and that type of wound is much harder to heal. It is because of violence in that the
people in Northern Ireland have turned to self medication. One of the most common forms of self
medication is the consumption of alcohol. A 2010 study found that the average

Ocean Dead Zones Essay
When referring to Arizona s water Kris Mayes, chairwoman of the state s utility regulatory panel once
said, How do you say just how valuable water is in an arid state like Arizona? she said. It s like the
credit card commercial it s priceless (McKinnon). She was right, because in a dry state like Arizona,
water is pretty important. To say water is pretty important for the world is an understatement. We use
water to function. And when we think of water we think of saving it. Keep the faucets from dripping
or turn off the water while brushing your teeth. There are numerous tips for water conservation, but
people don t often think of the damage that is already done. Damages like dead zones . Dead zones in

Except for those who take a look and take the time to discover the causes. One of the many causes of
the oceanic dead zones is synthetic fertilizers. For Arizona, changes in the weather tends to mean
cooler air and some waterworks, which is a balm to our constant heat. However, for the ocean, climate
change can be a deadly change. Though, it does not seem a likely cause, changes in currents, tides and
winds can disperse the borders of dead zones. In the northwest pacific dead zones can be up to 20,000
sq miles and winds can spread the dead zones and make them larger (Pope). Causing all marine life
who are unable to swim away to die. When searching for sea life in one of these dead zones a marine
biologist, Jane Lubchenco, said, it was so overwhelming and depressing to see only the bones of those
animals left behind (Weiss). Strong winds are producing plankton to quickly at higher sea levels and
isn t being consumed quick enough by fish (Weiss). The left over plankton dies falling to the ocean
floor and begins to decay. Which then causes a dead zone or spreads and already dead zone farther
out. It wouldn t be a problem if upper waters pushed oxygen to the rotting areas, but in Oregon, there
has been a change with the wind. The wind is now pushing areas without oxygen to shallow waters
and closer to shore (Pope). So, instead of taking oxygen to the dead zones, the winds are

Global Water Crises Around The World And The Effects They...

Dear Minister Sushri Uma Bharti,
My name is Vynateya Purimetla, and I am an eighth grader currently attending East Hills Middle
School, in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Presently, we are in a hydrogeology unit and we have been
researching global water crises around the world and the effects they have on people who inhabit those
regions. I am writing this letter to address the issues of inadequate sanitation, untreated sewage in
groundwater, and holy rivers being polluted due to a host of reasons. These problems are occurring in
both rural and urban areas, and are affecting more than 80% of the Indian population who depend on
water polluted with untreated sewage, nitrate, and agricultural runoff for basic survival needs, (The
Huffington Post). As the leader of the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development Ganga
Rejuvenation, I hope that some of the solutions outlined in this letter could be helpful to you in
solving India s water crisis.
A problem that affects the daily life of more than a hundred million people is inadequate sanitation
and a lack of proper sanitation facilities. For example, only 87% of Indians in urban areas have access
to a sanitized latrine, while only 33% of Indians in rural areas have access to a toilet, (The Guardian).
This statistic is alarming, as it increases the susceptibility to diseases such as

The Book Of Daniel ( Summary ) Chase Jones Theology P.6 December 1, 2016 The Book of Daniel (Summary) Chapters 1 2, 4 6 1 In the third year of the reign of King Jehoiakim of Judah, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it. God let King Jehoiakim of Judah fall into his power. Then the king commanded his palace master Ashpenaz to bring in some Israelites of the royal family and of nobility, young men without physical defect and handsome, versed in every branch of wisdom, endowed with knowledge and insight, and competent to serve in the king s palace. They were to be educated for three years, so that at the end of that time they could be put in the king s court. Among them were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, from the tribe of Judah. The palace master gave them different names: Daniel he called Belteshazzar, Hananiah he called Shadrach, Mishael he called Meshach , and Azariah he called Abednego. To these four young men God gave knowledge and skill in every aspect of literature and wisdom; Daniel also had insight into all visions and dreams. Among all the young men, no one was found to compare with Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; therefore they were stationed in the king s court. In every matter of wisdom and understanding concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom. And Daniel continued there until the first year of King Cyrus. 2 In the second year of Nebuchadnezzar s reign, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The New Structural Social Work As A Social Innovation Social work contemplates establishing social justice through social transformation, and social transformation, in many cases, leads to an innovation, especially social innovation. The purpose of this paper is to explore whether The New Structural Social Work (Mullaly, B., 2007) can be considered an innovation. The origin of social work is traced back to the end of the nineteenth century, when the Charity Organization Society movement began in 1877 in the United States of America, and the Settlement House movement started in 1884 in England. In both the cases, rapid industrialization, urbanization (Mullaly, B., 2007), and mass immigration contributed to escalating people s plight due to oppressions resulting unemployment, destitution, hardship, begging, and crimes. Social system was dominated by power, and resource distribution was unidirectional. A group of people from the higher strata of the society (Mullay, B. 2007) came forward to address people s plight based on individual cases. The primary focus of the then social work, later known as conventional social work, was individuals (Mullay, B. 2007) instead of social system. The intertwined relationships between individuals and the social system were totally ignored or unapprehended (Mullay, B. 2007). The conventional social work, thus, can be characterized (Carniol, B. 1992) as follows: 01. The conventional social work is mainly based on advocacy and support focusing upon individuals requirement. In many cases, the quality of GTA teaching ingrains a crucial and lifelong signature in undergraduate students that affects career choices and development. This is especially true due to the fact that a large majority of GTAs in chemistry teach freshman and sophomore year undergraduate students. Therefore, the quality of GTA teaching has a long but foreseeable impact on the future scientific community and for our society at large. • 6. The Valuable Lessons Of Sookan s Character Throughout the book Sookan has learned many valuable lessons, but one of the lectures she has learned seems to loom in her improved personality. She transformed herself into a selfless adult, she turned responsible and giving. She learned how to feel, care, and love like a true person should, like how every person should... In the commencement of the novel Sookan was briefly oblivious of the circumstances or sentiments of the people surrounding her. She was considerably selfish and frankly a sort of self obsessed. This is not indicating that Sookan was not an outstanding person, forth she was. But she simply was not exposed to the cruel planet, and all of the terrible aspects of the land. For example when the sock girls were hard at work Sookan hankered to talk to the girls not even crossing her mind of their unfortunate circumstances. • 7. Analyzing The Poem The Frog Prince Is a poem without any specific sound easy to understand? Possibly not! In most poems, a poet uses assonance or consonance to draw special attention to specific parts of the poem. A poem with assonance or vowels tells the reader about how low or high the sound is, giving them a sense of the emotion of the character or the poet at that specific part. On the other hand, consonance determines the friction or tone of a word or line, telling the reader when to slow down or when to read faster. Assonance and consonance helps to create rhyme in poems; a rhyme is a repeated sound at the end of each line that unifies the structure of the poem. In the poem, The Frog Prince by Robert Pack, assonance and consonance are repeated to create a smooth rhyme. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pitch is defined as the quality of the sound. He uses words and sounds with same pitch at the end of every line to form a unified structure to easily catch the reader s consideration. For instance, the first four lines end with surprise , frame , body , and name (lines 1 4, p735) and all of these words have the sound of se (ee), me (ee), y (ee), me (ee) at the end. Since e has a high pitch, these words are very quick to pronounce and they create a unified structure. However, line 5, The joy she must have felt to learn , disrupts the unity of the structure, because it has an ugh sound in it which is low pitch it doesn t rhyme well with the first four lines. To recapture, the reader s attention Pack ends line 6 and 8 with phases such as wonder and under. These words create a rough er or rh sound which indicates a major and drastic change in the princess life. Moreover, line 10, 12, and 14 end with a heavy dah sound. For example, it takes a lot of energy to pronounce the following words: read , bed , and said. Overall, the dah sound beautifully executes the dramatic shift in mood, from the frog s transformation into a prince to the princess mother s confrontation of the prince and princess in the ... Let s try this simulation. Allow me to provide you with cloth and sewing materials; I challenge you to divide yourselves to work together and sew together a pair of pants, in hopes of modeling conditions before the greatest revolution of the clothing industry, the era of ready made clothing. On my side, the present garments will represent the luxury of pre stitched clothing. The standardization of clothing sizes served as a step towards an overall growth in convenience for consumers. Preceding the Civil War, ready to wear clothing stores were few and far between, and selection limited itself to only a few sizes. This is in stark contrast to the options present at big chain stores today. This is attributed to the fact that the majority of clothing was either tailored by dressmakers or at home, which either demanded a premium or proved to be a bother. The Civil War was a ... • 10. Leadership Is A Complex Social Phenomenon Leadership is a complex social phenomenon that appears to be simplistic regarding the theoretical application in defining the term. However, the idea and concept of leadership are deeply rooted in the psychology and social setting and its construction within these areas. It goes beyond the discovery factors of traits, behaviors, power, influence, and abilities that social scientists have been studied and adapted for the attachment of expounding this paradox (Yukl, 2010). Due to the nature of its imprecise conceptualized framework, leadership has been the most discussed and talked about topic for the last century or so and it does not appear to end soon; over 6,300 books on the subject and 1,400 hardcover books relegated to the topic available for sales (Krohe, 2000); 16,000 published articles since 1990 (Galinsky, Jordan Sivanathan, 2008). The concept has become romanticized in the context of imagery and perception of what makes a great leader as being a heroic figure (Meindl, 1998). Presentation of this thought process has caused such ambiguity in defining what leadership is regarding: (a) the definition itself and its measurement, (b) leader s effects on performance, and (c) the selection process of a good leader (Pleffer, 1977). This discernment is caused mainly by the academicians and practitioners; academicians prefer the in depth of research and studies for further understanding and discovery, whereas practitioners want immediate remedies in the application of ... Jamal Betrayal and loyalty are represented by the various kinds of relationships and their impact on one another. Misty This is illustrated in two ways. Pratish Betrayal was also the result when aunt Harriet asks to borrow her sisters baby to receive a certificate for normality, the sister refuses furiously showing no empathy or kindness. This is seen when Aunt Harriet enters David s moms room and begs to borrow Petra in exchange for some days. David s mom cold heartedly replies In all my life. I have never heard anything so outrageous... To think that I should led you my own child This quote is important because it shows that Aunt Harriet s sister is so hateful towards deviants and blasphemies that she would not even bother helping her own sister. It also shows that Aunt Harriet and her sister don t have a strong family relationship. This develops the thesis because it shows poor relationships are the results of heart breaking betrayals. Jared Diamond in Guns, Germs, and Steel the Fate of Human Societies reflects over 13,000 years of the history of human civilizations, examining why it was Europe that conquered the Americas and Africa but not vice versa. Buddhism is the most influential religion in a lot of the Asian countries. Buddhism has assumed many different forms over the years, but there has always been an attempt to draw from the Buddha s life experiences and the essence of his teachings, known as dharma. These life experiences and teachings model an appropriate religious life. However, it wasn t until the first or second century that there was a complete account of the Buddha s life and that was due to the writing of Buddha Charita, which is the life of Buddha, by Ashvaghosa (The Origins of Buddhism). In a place near the Himalayan foothills around 563 B.C.E, the Buddha was born, and he then began in inspirational teachings around Benares at Sarnath. They are inevitably tied in with suffering since we suffer from wanting them, wanting them to continue, and wanting pain to go so pleasure can come. The second Noble Truth is that suffering is caused by craving for sense pleasures and for things to be as they are not. We refuse to accept life as it is. The third Noble Truth, however, states that suffering has an end, and the fourth offers the means to that end: the Eight Fold Path and the Middle Way. HEALTH BEHAVIOR INTRODUCTION According to the Department of Health and Human Services (2015) (HHS), physical activity generally refers to any body movement that improves one s health by working their muscles. Physical activity can range from walking to running to doing yoga. However, the lack of physical activity is becoming an increasingly prevalent health problem in the world today, particularly women in developing countries. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The transtheoretical model is one of the best models to use for analyzing physical activity because it takes into account the attitude changes, time measurement of behavior change, helping and maintaining the desired behavior using different strategies for each stage. The transtheoretical model has five states of change that consist of pre contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance and termination. Pre contemplation is when an individual is unaware or does not intend to change their current behavior. An example of this would be someone with a negative attitude to switching from his or her sedentary lifestyle to include physical activity. Contemplation refers to an individual who is considering making a behavior change, such as deliberating on increasing physical activity even though they have not started yet. Preparation refers to when an individual has made the decision to begin taking action, meaning they have a plan and strategies in place to increase their physical activity. Action is when an individual acts on his or her new behavior change of incorporating physical activity into their lifestyle. Maintenance is when an individual has made the health behavior change and is now focused on keeping the change going. The termination stage means that the individual has completed the process of the behavior change and it is not just a part of their daily routines. The transtheoretical model was most appropriate because similar studies that have been conducted on women with diabetes and osteoporosis based on this model and it has been successful in changing the physical activity behaviors (Pirzadeh, Mostafavi, Ghofranipour, Feizi, 2015). • 22. Hamlet Nihilist Analysis To be or not to be a nihilist In 1927, Martin Heidegger observed that nihilism was already the normal state of man that the disbelief in life having objective meaning is the most prevalent. If Heidegger is correct, then our current era is one in which Hamlet would fit in well.. Critics have proposed that Hamlet is too much of a refined intellectual to commit a callous act such a murder, a more plausible claim is his crises of inaction not caused merely by a quirk of character or spirituality, it is in fact caused by a lack of spirit: Hamlet is not religious, he is a nihilist. Through his deep pessimism, incessant brooding, and radical skepticism, Hamlet shows his colors as a nihilist who believes in nothing and has no purpose. When Hamlet admits that there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so (Shakespeare, II. ii. 254 55), Hamlet displays his lack of belief in even fundamental concepts such as good and evil; he dismisses them as mere constructs of the mind. Hamlet should be devoutly religious as a man in Christian Denmark. However, since he has a self professed lack of belief in good and evil, and therefore, religion and God, action is not possible because Action requires the veils of illusion. (Nietzsche 35). Hamlets nihilistic bent rises to the fore when conversing with Rosencrantz and gentle Guildenstern. • 24. Summary Of Evil And Omnipotence By J. L. Mackie J. L. Mackie s Evil and Omnipotence criticizes the argument that God exists by showing that religious beliefs are positively irrational and that parts of the essential theological doctrine are inconsistent with one another. The problem of evil is one of the oldest problems in philosophy. The problem of evil is a logical problem for only the people who believe that there is a God who is both (1) omnipotent and (2) wholly good; yet (3) evil exists in the world. If God is wholly good and omnipotent, then how can there be a presence of evil in the world. Given the presence of evil, we must either conclude that God does not have the power to prevent the suffering that evil causes in which case God is not omnipotent or that God does not wish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, these solutions are only temporary or almost adopted by the thinker because the thinker may not be consistent in their definitions and convert back to the old definitions. Therefore, these solutions are not true solutions, so we must find another way to solve the problem of evil. The next set of solutions are called fallacious solutions. A fallacious solution is a solution defined as an argument which rejects one of the propositions but then, implicitly reasserts it later in the argument to solve the problem. However, these fallacious solutions use an equivocation use of the words good and evil , which cause vagueness about how good and evil are opposed to one another. Mackie notes that these so called solutions may seem plausible at first, but, in fact, do not amount to a solution which rejects any principle that causes the contradiction. The first fallacious solution is that Good cannot exist without evil. The idea behind this solution is that evil is a necessary counterpart of good. Without evil, there could be no good in the world. Therefore, God could not have created the world without any evil in it because there would be no good. By saying that God cannot create good without creating evil at the same time contradicts premise one (that God is omnipotent) and premise five (that there are limits to what an omnipotent thing can do). Mackie rejects this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. The Development Of Qin Shi Huang In China Power. It is a concept that has always been part of human societies regardless of time period or area. Though expressed in different ways and structures, it was and still is part of human civilizations today. However, within the establishments of power, many conflicts arise for both those in power and those governed by the rulers, such as problems over the selection of new authority figures and the retainment of their power. This conflict can be recognized from the ruling of Qin Shi Huang in China in the mid 200s BC. He is well known for uniting the Chinese states during the Warring States Period, in which the country was broken up into states that were in a war for dominance (Mark). Shi Huang ultimately founded the Qin Dynasty and worked to improve humanity by helping construct the Great Wall for defense and the Lingqu Canal for commerce (Mark). However, he later began to threaten those who refused to comply with his ideas, and he became more concerned with becoming immortal and keeping his power (Szczepanski). Due to his obsessive desire over the idea of immortality and maintaining his imperial status in the afterlife, Qin Shi Huang decided to recreate the entire Chinese empire underground as his tomb (Szczepanski). About 700,000 laborers were hired to build this mausoleum over a course of 36 years; more than 8,000 unique, life size terracotta soldiers as well as horses, chariots, jewelry, and ritual ships were created ( Qin Tomb ). • 27. The Synthesis Of Apomorphine Was Historically Accomplished... Introduction: Apomorphine has been used as far back as 2000 BC. In 2000 BC the Mayan s noticed that the bulb and root of water lilies gave a narcotic feeling, as well as acted as an aphrodisiac and partial hallucinogen.1 Apomorphine belongs to a class of molecules called aporphines which are present in water lilies, more specifically in Nymphaea caerulea and Nymphaea ampla.1 While mild effects were shown in parts of water lilies, scientists wanted to know what exactly caused these effects. The compounds were isolated and tested to determine that apomorphine was the most active ingredient. The concentration of apomorphine was so low in the plants that isolation was impractical so a synthesis was designed to investigate the properties of apomorphine further; leading to apomorphine being used for Parkinson s disease, erectile dysfunction, and most recently Alzheimer disease. Synthesis2: The synthesis of apomorphine was historically accomplished by an acid catalyzed rearrangement of morphine. This method typically had low and varying yields: anywhere from 0.6% to 46% yield. In 2008, a new synthesis was patented that shown yields as high as 55% to 70% yield. This new synthesis, scheme 1, uses phosphoric acid as the catalyst and phosphorus pentoxide as a water scavenger water is the by product of the reaction and the phosphorus pentoxide irreversibly binds to the water. The solution would then be heated to 90 100℃ in an inert atmosphere for two hours. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
