Stereotypes In The Help By Kathryn Stockett
Dr. David Pilgrim is a scholar on controversies in correlation to multiculturalism, diversity, and race
relations. As an identified public speaker, he is interviewed by countless acclaimed sources, such as
Time Magazine, New York Times, and Washington Post. Widely recognized for being the founder of
the Jim Crow Museum; he aspires to invoke conversations regarding diversity and race relations to stir
positive development. As a professor of Sociology at Ferris State University, Pilgrim delves into the
impertinent caricature of Mammy in relation to African American Women. This became an idealistic
image politically, socially and economically for the Caucasian mass of America, especially prominent
amongst the Jim Crow Era. Mammy signifies the ideals that every Black ... Show more content on

Scornful Comedy In Toy Story
Theme and Scornful Comedy within Toy Story From using aspects of scornful comedy, the film Toy
Story s theme is more easily identified. Elements of scornful comedy help to reveal the theme within
Toy Story. A possible primary subject matter in the film is that everyone has the capacity of good and
evil. This theme is shown throughout the character Woody, for in the beginning of the movie he makes
an irrational decision, but eventually learns of why his action was in the wrong. Due to the loss of his
position as Andy s favorite toy, Woody is overcome with jealousy and pushes his challenger, Buzz, out
the window. Because of this, the toys that once looked up to Woody turn against him and begin to look
at Buzz as their leader. After this,

Music Vs. Art Education
Much too often in America today, modern music and art programs in schools are perceived to many as
extracurricular activities rather than important subjects that are vital to a student s learning and skill
development. The truth of the matter is that encouraging music and art education in public schools has
a much larger impact on student s grades, academic performance, and the economy than the majority
people realize. Within the next year city school budgets will be dropping by twenty five percent, and
despite the fact that music and art programs have been showing a dramatic contribution to student s
learning, this substantial drop in funding for the programs will lead to no dedicated money for art or
music programs (Mezzacappa). There is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Music and art are clearly not two subjects that schools today can afford to cut off funding for based on
this evidence. Music and art programs are responsible for increasing school attendance, which can
lead to being one of the most important things in a student s academic success in school. Students
have to attend school and be present in order to attain the information from their classes and teachers
if they wish to succeed. Better attendance means more students are in class, which means more
students are getting the information they need to excel from their teachers, which ultimately means
better grades and test scores for schools. As of today, arts are defined as core subjects in only twenty
six states in America (Mandel). If only twenty six states are treating art education as a core subject,
that means that twenty four states are currently neglecting art programs and not considering them
important to their student s education. If more states are educated on the importance of art programs
for young students, and the arts are defined as core subjects nationally, then there will be a noticeable
increase in academic achievement across the nation. Art programs have been proven to increase the
academic performance of student in schools, and until these twenty four states treat art as a core
subject, their students will continue to

Discuss The Scope Of Educational Psychology
Introduction
When it comes to education a huge importance is given to the topic Psychology. Whenever the term
psychology comes people think about the mental illnesses. But it has provided the world with a better
understanding of the human behavior. When applying it in the field of education it has made a huge
difference in learning and helped teachers to get to know the learner better. It has given a new
meaning to learning inside a class classroom. There are various sub divisions of psychology. The aim
of this assignment is to explore and explain the role of educational psychology in teaching. In this
assignment I have included twelve main scopes of educational psychology and explained about how it
benefits the teachers and the students.
Educational Psychology
Educational psychology is the branch of psychology which deals with education. It explains about the
human behavior in the educational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has developed its own sub topics known as scopes. Scope can be defined as different processes,
topics, applications, or subject and discipline matters. (Lecture notes). Below are some factors that is
included in the scope of educational psychology.
1. Growth and Child development
The kids does not only study from school, but from the environment since the first day. It explains the
development and the growth and how the child goes through the various these developmental stages
and the characteristics of each stage. It explains about physical, emotional, and social development of
the child at various stages.
Having this knowledge helps the teacher to have a better understanding of the child s attitude and it
makes it easier to understand and manage them in the classroom. The teacher can use the appropriate
method to teach the student. Also the students find it easier to fit in and helps to build a closer

Ischemic Stroke Case Study
Multiple Thresholds for Different Components of the Brain in Ischemic Stroke Perfusion Imaging
Introduction
Stroke
Stroke is a disease of national and global significance in prevalence, impact and cost [1 4].?Stroke is
the third leading cause of death and leading cause adult disability in Australia [3]. Furthermore, the
number of stroke sufferers is expected to increase in the future as the Australian population ages[5].
Stroke can be categorized into ischemic and hemorrhagic subtypes as each has a different mechanism
and long term outcome. Ischemic stroke makes up 87% of all strokes and is caused by an occluded
cerebral blood vessel causing hypoperfusion to areas upstream of the occlusion that result in tissue
damage and dysfunction. Of all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mixed common threshold for grey matter and white matter overestimate the perfusion lesion in white
matter, but underestimate the tissue in white matter [71, 89, 90](summary of the threshold for grey
matter and white matter separately from previous studies in figure 7). The variation of absolute
perfusion values is highly individual. Furthermore, the variation of the absolute threshold is high
between these studies (CBV range from1.67 to 2.4 6 ml/100g in grey matter, with a range of 1.19 to
1.7 6 ml/100g in white matter; CBF range from 17.7 34.6 ml/100g/min in grey matter, and a range of
12.3 to 20.9 ml/100g/min in white matter). Relative thresholds are able to delineate perfusion lesion
better than absolute thresholds, due to relative thresholds are more consistent comparing to absolute
thresholds, whereas, absolute thresholds varies individually, as previous research has been
demonstrated [55, 56, 92]. However, these results lack of standardization and validation to define the
optimal thresholds for grey matter and white matter separately. All of these previous studies had a
limited number of patients, ranging from 9 to 21. It is clear, no agreement on multiple optimal
thresholds setting to delineate acute tissue pathophysiology in grey matter and white matter separately

Living Off The Grid Summary
In his book, Living Off the Grid:A Simple Guide to Creating and Maintaining a Self Reliant Supply of
Energy, Water, Shelter and More (2008) Dave Black lists the following eight reasons many people are
choosing to go off grid in America today: There is no grid available, to minimize environmental
impact of the grid and leave a smaller carbon footprint, to avoid utility costs, saving money by
lowering bills, emergency insurance, entertainment of an intelligent mind, reducing use of fossil fuels,
and public image. He goes on to explain that whatever reason or reasons a person may choose to go
off grid there is a long list of realities that one must face in relation to such an undertaking. Ability,

There are several ways to build the walls and floor so that heat is stored in the day and released at
night. Night and day temperatures, as well as seasonal angles of the sun are things to think about in
terms of location if you plan to build a home that utilizes solar energy, such as an earthship. Dave
Black states An east west axis (90 degrees to true south) allows the longer side of the structure to be
exposed to the sun. That s where the big windows should be. North and east facing windows can lose a
lot of heat in the winter, and west facing glass can cause overheating in summer, so they should be few
and small.(Use overhangs over the windows to protect the interior from too much summer sun.......) .
Earthships are also an environmentally friendly model because of the fact that they can be made from
recycled materials such as tires, cans, beams made from recycled trash, etc. Walls made of stacked
tires filled with cans serve to store and release heat when needed. This fact also makes it a viable
option for a low budget home. Since most, or all, of an earthship can be built with what is essentially
trash, most of your building materials can be found cheap or free, provided you have access to a road
system. There are many other ways to create an off

Navajo Code Talkers Case Study
What battles did the code talkers help in? How did the talkers understand each other among all the
confusion? What made the code so unbreakable no one could figure out what the code meant? The
Navajo Code Talkers were an elite group of Navajos who had to create a code that was unbreakable.
The Code Talkers had to understand each other perfectly. The talkers did this by meeting in a room for
a really long time to make the code. When the Navajos made the code the coders named certain
vehicles after animals. For example the Navajos named submarines iron fish . Everyone was trained
and quizzed so hard so that the coders could send and receive messages perfectly. Once there was a 6

One of those major battles was Okinawa. The code Talkers also led in Iwo Jima as they had to relay
enemy positions to the ships so they could focus their fire. At one point in the war, the Allies were

Navajos had to transmit codes perfectly to each other to make the campaign successful. Captain
Howard Connor even said, Were it not for the Navajo Code Talkers, the Marines would have never
taken Iwo Jima. The Navajo Code was very complicated making it hard to understand for the
Japanese. The Code Talkers had 2 3 different words for each letter. When the Navajos named a vehicle
that vehicle was named with an animal with a certain characteristic. For instance they called dive
bombers Gini , which means Chicken Hawk, because Chicken Hawks dive. The Japanese had already
studied Native American languages such as Cherokee, Creek, and Choctaw, as well as many others. In
World War I we used those languages but after the war the Japs learned about them so that s why the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Thin Film Deposition Process
Thin film deposition is any technique for depositing a thin film of material onto a substrate or onto
previously deposited layers. thin is a relative term, but most deposition techniques allow layer
thickness to be controlled within a few nanometre and some (molecular beam epitaxy) allow single
layers of atoms to be deposited at time. it is useful in the manufacture of optics for refractive or anti
refractive coatings for instance), electronics (layers of insulators, semiconductors form integrated
circuits) and packaging (i.e. aluminium coated film).thin film can be prepared from a variety of
materials such as metals, semiconductors, insulators etc., and for this purpose various preparative
techniques have also been developed and each method has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Thin film deposition process can be divided into three basic steps:
1. Creation of film forming material (atoms, molecules, clusters).
2. Transport of the particles from source to the substrate.
3. Adsorption of the particles on the substrate and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rate of condensation of the vapours (or the deposition rate) depends not only on the evaporation
rate but also on the source geometry, its position relative to the substrate, and condensation coefficient.
The spatial distribution of the vapours from different types of sources such as point, wire, small
surface, extended strip, cylinder, and ring has been calculated and discussed thoroughly by Holland.
For the ideal case of deposition from a clean, uniformly emitting point source onto a planar substrate,
the rate of deposition varies as cos θ/r2 (Knudsen s cosine law), where r is the radial distance of the
substrate from the source and θ is the angle between the radial vector and the normal to the

Essay Jack London s To Build a Fire
Jack London s To Build a Fire
Nature is always pushing man to his limits. When man heeds the warning signs that nature has to offer
and those warnings of other men, he is most likely to conquer nature. When he ignores these
warnings, nature is sure to defeat man. To build a fire is a prime example of this scenario. In the short
story, To Build a Fire by Jack London, an inexperienced traveler in the Yukon travels alone with his
dog, even though it is ill advised to do so. The man is strong and smart but nature humbled him during
his quest to reach his friends. The man s inexperience with traveling in the cold subzero temperatures
doomed him from the beginning, but his strong focus under extreme pressure and his keen sense of ...

He had the book smarts about walking through the Yukon but he lacked the street smarts. He may lack
experience and imagination in traveling in subzero temperatures but his calm nature allows him to stay
focused, even when the fire is snuffed out by the falling snow from the tree and he thought of it as
hearing his own death sentence. It was as though he had just heard his own sentence of death. For a
moment he sat and stared at the spot where the fire had been. Then he grew very calm. (London, 529)
Furthermore, when he is sure he will lose his toes and fingers, he does not lose sight of his most
important goal, surviving. London tells how, even when in grave danger, the man regroups without
panic and strong belief in his own abilities. Well, it was up to him to build the fire over again, and this
second time there must be no failure. Even if he succeeded, he would most likely lose some toes and
Such were his thoughts, but he did not sit and think them. (London, 529)
When his inexperience exposes itself to him, he remembers the old timers words of wisdom. The man
did not realize the prudence behind the old timer s words of wisdom. He ignored the old timers
cautions and dangers of traveling alone, making him foolish and naĂŻve to his situation. That man from

Billy Beane And Moneyball
Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game, by Michael Lewis is a book that discusses how the
Oakland Athletics became a baseball powerhouse despite having one of the smallest budgets. The man
who is the architect of this franchise is Billy Beane, an ex player turned general manager. Beane was a
player who had all of the physical tools old school scouts look for, however he turned out to be a
disappointment; instead of falling into the trap other general managers fell into, he looked for a
competitive edge, a new market inefficiency. He was not afraid to go against the norm, he made a
team with the second smallest budget into a powerhouse, and he inspired an entire new era of
successful general managers, as well as impacting people in other ... Show more content on

One of the most notable executives inspired by Beane is Theo Epstein, a Yale graduate who talked
with Beane as much as possible when he was the assistant general manager in the Red Sox franchise
and due to his frequent conversations with Beane, Epstein becomes obsessed with high on base
percentage players, such as Kevin Youkilis (Lewis 211). Inspired by Billy Beane, Theo Epstein leads
the Boston Red Sox to two World Series titles in nine years, placing a heavy emphasis on on base
percentage; The Red Sox never placed below second in annual on base percentage during Epstein s
tenure as general manager, and now Epstein is recreating the same philosophy in Chicago (ESPN).
Another baseball general manager who was tremendously influenced by Billy Beane was Andrew
Friedman; facing a tight budget in Tampa Bay much like Beane in Oakland, he drafted many college
players and he led a mediocre franchise to four playoff appearances through following Billy Beane s
philosophy (Vice Sports). The Pittsburgh Pirates and their general manager, Neal Huntington have
taken Beane s philosophy to a whole different level; he hired people out of Ivy League schools just
like Beane, however Huntington hired many more specific analysts. Huntington hired Baseball
Prospectus s Dan Fox to build the structure of their proprietary database, while also being an analyst
for the Pirates, also Mike Fitzgerald was hired as an analyst who even traveled with the team on the
road; over the years the Pirates analytical team built a relationship with the players and the coaching
staff, to the point where the analytical group became a key part of the team, even more so than the
Oakland A s and Billy Beane (Sloan Sports Conference). Billy Beane s impact has spread even beyond
baseball; it has spread to soccer, american football, and basketball, one example of a soccer team

Personal Speech On Football
In just about every football game from any age group there is always some sort of peptalk. This is
usually given by the coach to fire up the players and get them ready for the game ahead of them. The
pep talk I got that night will be in my mind for the rest of my life. My Coach always gave us life
lessons that were key not only on the field but off of it as well. He would say things such as there is no
I in team and anything is accomplishable if you work hard enough. He was always inspiring me with
his speeches, but one stuck out the most. This speech was at one of our Thursday night meetings; we
would meet every Thursday to eat supper together as a team, hang out with freinds, and most
importantly get ready for the game on Friday. We would always sit in chairs and listen to him; Usually
ranting on about teamwork and stuff like that but he changed it up. The life lesson he was teaching us
was play like it was your last game.
In his story he talked about a bulldog, and how the owner showed no pity on him. The man would not
let the bulldog ride in the carriage with him, the dog always had to keep up with the man. One night
the man was riding in his carriage and decided to camp the night out. So he stopped and set up his
camp and noticed the dog wasn t around. The man said to his kids if the bulldog wants to live he will
catch up . The kids were devastated at this and wanted the dog back, but did not testify their dad s
words. The man woke up in the middle of the night to the sounds of growling and vicious snarling.
That s when he heard his bulldog aggressively barking back at the creature. The man didn t dare go
outside to help his dog because he thought the dog had the willpower and strength to fend for itself. So
he heard a long going battle of barking, growling, biting, and whimpering. At about midnight the
fighting noises stopped in a great whimpering noise. He didn t know if the dog was still alive or not
but he went back to sleep. The next day the man and his family woke up and left the tent to find his
bulldog laying in the grass next to a giant grey wolf. The bulldog fought for its life and won, this is
because the wolf thought he had nothing to lose but the bulldog fought for everything he had. My

Analysis Of Pablo Picasso And The Three Dancers
During heart breaking times, the despair can sometimes be revealed in the form of dance. Artists often
work this art form into their paintings, sculptures, music videos, and drawings, revealing how the
power of dance can reflect upon those emotions. Likewise, in the painting Les Trois Danseuses, more
commonly known as The Three Dancers, the artist, Pablo Picasso (1881 1973) portrays three distorted
dancers. The painting was created between Picasso s Cubism and Classicism periods, in the year of
1925. Picasso exemplified the heart breaking suicide of his friend, Carlos Casagemas, who had been
involved in a triangular love affair illustrated within the painting (Tate para 1). Similarly, within the
painting Dancers at the Barre, by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The background appears to be an open balcony window, possibly allowing the dancers to reflect on
their experiences. A sense of fresh air, a cleansing of themselves, may also be interpreted, further
portraying the dance itself. Although the three dancers appear to be polar opposites, they are brought
together through the art of dance, each holding hands and changing their rhythms.
The use of scale and shape, variety, repetition, and color aid in exemplifying the underlying theme of
tragedy within Picasso s painting. The image emphasizes the variety of shapes, which causes the
concept of chaos to be highlighted. This chaos reveals the different aspects that each of the dancers
possesses. A rather prominent variety in shapes and colors provides interest by causing little focus on
one specific frame. An array of colors provides for character within each dancer. The leftmost dancer
shares colors with the other two, creating a sense of being a part of each. Bold reds, dull pinks, and
bright blues cause this dancer to be portrayed as the most chaotic, along with the random patterns and
variety of shapes that captivate the dancer s body. Possibly resembling how hardships and successes
can affect an individual. A combination of dark colors and white with jagged, geometric lines, the
dancer on the far right appears to resemble the efforts of good and evil; however, in this case, the dark

China s One Child Policy
China s population currently stands at 1.357 billion people. It is the most populous country in the
world and it is only increasing. The Chinese government has spent more than 40 years trying to slow
their population growth. They have done so through their controversial one child policy. There is no
denying that China s one child policy changed the lives of Chinese citizens when it the Chinese
Communist Party [CCP] in 1979 as a way of controlling population. Under Mao, the government
encouraged families to have as many children as possible, believing that a strong nation grew out of a
large population. By 1976, the population grew from 540 million people in 1949 to 940 million. The
rapid increase in population stretched the resources that the CCP could provide to the people. The
government believed that a population control policy was the only way they prevent the population
from experiencing another dramatic increase in size . The CCP hoped that the policy would alleviate
some of the social and economic pressure an increasing population created, and the policy has worked.
According to data collected by the World Bank, China s birth rate has fallen from 2.63 in 1980 to
1.217 as of 2014, preventing an estimate two hundred to four hundred million births . For all its
intended benefits, the one child policy has also brought many unintended consequences, both harmful
and beneficial; and these consequences have disproportionately affect girl and women more than boys
and men. The

voluntarily do that to himself. Obviously, when someone likes someone or something they will
continue to chase after it with high hopes of capturing it, and Schwarzenegger dreamed of becoming
the greatest bodybuilder in the world. Many would agree and say that he did indeed accomplish that
goal. Physically and mentally, he endured so much on his journey toward his dream. Schwarzenegger
trained, prepared, failed, and succeeded just like that of an NFL football player or an NBA Basketball
player. Weightlifting is very much considered a sport to him and to many determined, competitive
weightlifters. The Olympic Committee has even recognized competitive weightlifting as a sport since
1920 Summer Olympic Games and twice before then. Overall, Olympic style weightlifting fits into
the category and definition of sports.

Romance and Reality in Flaubert’s Madame Bovary Essay
Romance and Reality in Flaubert s Madame Bovary
In the story of Alice in Wonderland we follow Alice down a rabbit hole into a land of pure wonder,
where the logic of a little girl holds no sway. In Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary, we witness
exactly the opposite as Emma Bovary, a most romantic creature, is purposely cast into a harshly
realistic world. In either case, a creature is put into an environment unnatural to her disposition, yet in
Flaubert s example, Emma shares the world we inhabit, and thus the message her story brings is much
more pertinent. To convey this message, Flaubert replicates not a world of fantasy, but rather the real
world, with all its joy, sadness, and occasional monotony intact. Then he proceeds to dump an ... Show

All the bitterness of life seemed to be served up to her on her plate, and as the steam rose from the
boiled meat, waves of nausea rose from the depths of her soul. (Flaubert 58)
This image and atmosphere of mundane imperfection is a far cry from what Emma expects after
reading the romantic novels she smuggled in at the convent. From those foppish texts she gathers the
impression that ladies such as she should be lolling on carriages or dreaming on sofas, or perhaps
embracing some dashing young man in a short cloak (Flaubert 32). Yet such is not the reality in which
she lives.
Flaubert adds to his stark images the homey atmospheres and settings of the provincial towns in which
Emma lives, places which by their very simplistic natures are anathema to a romantic such as Bovary.
It is only through Emma s depiction of these villages that they are cast as mundane and drab. Though
the image exists of the small and backward town with its town gossips and town idiot, it can be seen
that it is simply a town, one in which a person can be content that is, if she is not the always
unfulfilled Emma Bovary. Thus the setting and the stereotypical characters add to the realistic
atmosphere that confronts Emma.
Into the midst of this hodgepodge of unflattering images and commonalties, Flaubert then tosses
Emma and Charles. To Emma, Charles is

The Usefulness Of Animal Models
Throughout the history of medical research, the use of animal models in relation to the brain and
behaviour of humans has played a significant role in understanding many aspects of the human
psychobiology, and much of what we know about the relationships among anatomy, physiology, and
behaviour has come from animal research (American Psychological Association, no date:online).
Research on animal models ranges from simple behaviour observation to more invasive procedures
such as the extraction of brain chemicals. However, the use of animals in research is often
misunderstood (Bennett, 2012:online). Most people when asked about animal research will say that it
is cruel and not morally correct. Nevertheless, experimentation with animals ... Show more content on

Although the percentage of animals used in research is small, studies of animal cognition have
provided comparative and ecological perspective on issues of the mind and intelligence (American
Psychological Association, no date:online), and a wide range of animal models have been and will
continue to be critical in understanding the brain and behaviour of humans, particularly for
understanding psychiatric disorders and neurological diseases.
There are various types of brain scanning technology such as the MRI or PET that are used to
understand the functioning of the human brain. However in order to study the human nervous system
it must be studied by manipulating it surgically. Although much research in psychology uses people as
subjects, research with animals continues to be essential for answering some fundamental questions
(American Psychological Association, no date:online), as legal and ethical restrictions prevent certain
kinds of research on humans. Experiments such as brain stimulation and lesion research cannot be
produced on human brains including the studies of neurophysiology and neuroanatomy as it requires
the use of invasive techniques that are considered unethical to carry out on humans.
However, the underlying mechanisms of behaviour are similar across species and sometimes easier to

College For The Masses By David Leonhardt
College for the Masses by David Leonhardt is a great article that displays the many benefits among
lower income students attending a four year college. Why Poor Students Struggle by Vicki Madden
displays many examples from hers and her colleagues experiences while providing statistics of the
lower income joining a four year college. The two articles both display the benefits of attending a four
year college and that the education pays off. David s article talked about the different education levels
based on their test score before attending the university and the amount of income, while Vicki s
focused more on the income and the effects on grades of students while attending the college on low
income. David also goes more in detail about the disadvantages of community college than Vicki s
description of community college. College for the Masses , in my opinion, had more intensive
descriptions and examples on the benefits of starting in a four year university, rather than community
college.
David Leonhardt bases more of his articles on students similar test scores when starting in a
university. In his article, he uses examples of two groups of students with generally the same score,
but dividend on what college they attend because of a tiny difference. Students who score 840 on the
SAT, for example, or maintain a C+ average in high school are admitted. Those who don t clear the bar
are generally rejected, and many don t attend any four year college (Leonhardt). This

Giglio Case Summary
Giglio is a term often discussed about in the law enforcement community, it refers back to the case of
Giglio v. United States, 405 U.S. 150 (1972). Most of the time the term Giglio brings out a negative
connotation; this is due to the nature of the case. The implication Giglio has on police officers refers to
discussions about credibility in court and it s often times a negative association. Credibility is
paramount to an officer s career; nevertheless credibility in court under oath is something every officer
should have. Ever since we started the basic recruit academy we ve heard references to the Giglio
case. This is because; integrity even at the recruit level is of the utmost importance. Another important
factor that most instructors talk about that has some relevance with the Giglio case is that since day

his extrajudicial statement Boblit confessed to committing the murder and stated that he has acted
alone. During Brady s trial, however, the prosecution had withheld Boblit s written statement of his
confession to acting alone. Due to the lack of information Brady confessed that he had been involved
in the murder but that Boblit was the one that actually committed the killing. Because of the nature of
both Boblit s and Brady s confessions they were both found guilty of first degree murder and
sentenced to death. Brady s counsel was given all the extrajudicial statements except the one

that having Boblit s confession withheld from his counsel was a direct violation of his right to due

According to Wikipedia the world nurse originally came from the Latin word nutrire , meaning to
suckle, referring to a wet nurse. It was only in the late 16th century when it attain its modern meaning

Nursing is a time consuming job. Often people hear of car burn outs where you press on the breaks

emotional exhaustion, according to National Nurses United While stress is characterized by over

Data Warehouses and Data Marts: A Dynamic View By Joseph M. Firestone, Ph.D. White Paper No.
Three March 27, 1997
Patterns of Data Mart Development In the beginning, there were only the islands of information: the
operational data stores and legacy systems that needed enterprise wide integration; and the data
warehouse: the solution to the problem of integration of diverse and often redundant corporate
information assets. Data marts were not a part of the vision. Soon though, it was clear that the vision
was too sweeping. It is too difficult, too costly, too impolitic, and requires too long a development
period, for many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, its relation to the data warehouse turns the first pattern of development on its head. Here
multiple data marts are parents to the data warehouse, which evolves from them organically. The third
pattern of development attempts to synthesize and remove the conflict inherent in the first two. Here
data marts are seen as developing in parallel with the data warehouse. Both develop from islands of
information, but data marts don t have to wait for the data warehouse to be implemented. It is enough
that each data mart is guided by the enterprise data model developed for the data warehouse, and is
developed in a manner consistent with this data model. Then the data marts can be finished quickly,
and can be modified later when the enterprise data warehouse is finished. These three patterns of data
mart development have in common a viewpoint that does not explicitly consider the role of user
feedback in the development process. Each view assumes that the relationship between data
warehouses and data marts is relatively static. The data mart is a subset of the data warehouse, or the
data warehouse is an outgrowth of the data marts, or there is parallel development, with the data marts
guided by the data warehouse data model, and ultimately superseded by the data warehouse, which
provides a final answer to the islands of information problem. Whatever view is taken, the role of
users in the dynamics of data warehouse/data

Employee Morale Project
1.1 INTRODUCTION In every organization, people are working within a suitable environment of
attitudes. Each employee has attitudes that range over the entire spectrum of human behavior. All
managers have a constant concern for the morale of the group, which they lead. However,
considerable confusion prevails over the use of the term morale because of variation in defining
characteristics of the term.
In certain cases job satisfaction and morale is considered as individual concern; in other cases job
satisfaction is considered as individual phenomenon and morale as group phenomenon. From one
point of view, morale may be regarded essentially an individual matter. It s described in terms of the

16th Century Wicca Witchcraft
The topic of religion is very controversial and at times, is seen as something negative. The practice of
witchcraft can be considered unholy and pure evil to some, but to others, it is a religion and a way of
life. Wicca, founded in England in the mid 20th century, is a religion based on pre Christian traditions
that practices modern witchcraft. Witchcraft is often referred to the human usage of supernatural
powers for the malevolent purpose of practicing black magic ( History and Background of Wicca ).
The acceptance of those who were involved in sorcery was difficult for the people of Great Britain.
The negative reactions and thoughts affected the members of Wicca in numerous ways. The practices
of witchcraft in Great Britain lead to the influences and modern day practices of the witches in the
religion of Wicca.
In the 16th century, witchcraft became popular because people believed it had a better explanation of
unexpected unfortunate events, rather than the working of God s will ( Witchcraft ). It is practiced by
both men and women, but mostly stereotyped to only women. A typical witch was described as being

U.s Law On Public Sector
A REVISION OF THE CURRENT IMPACT OF US LAW ON PUBLIC SECTOR (May focus on
CRA, ADEA, FLSA, ADAA, IDEA, FMLA) Laws are basically rules that bind all people and help
protect general safety in a community, organization, association, team etc. Laws also help to enforce
all individual rights as citizens. One important thing to know is that laws are different across different
regions, states and countries. The most important thing to know about any place, organization,
community and country is the laws that govern it. State law for driving at a safe speed in Pennsylvania
is 65m/hr when driving in highway. If someone drive above 65m/hr and his caught, he will be found
guilty of the law and he will be charge. In essence, laws help to maintain orderliness and protection of
human rights. U.S law helps to impact positively the right of citizens in public sector and also helps
promote equality among its citizens (Publications.Usa.gov, 2016). The high rate of discrimination and
favoritism in the past has seriously been tackled and reduced to minimum. Law has helped all
individuals to be given fair hearing to employment. Law helps protect all citizens from discrimination
due to their race, age, gender or even disability. The law has no respect for any individual, all is
subject to act under the law without any preference or favoritism. All citizens are governed by law no
matter his or her position in the society. Law governs all, and no one is above the law. Former

A Brief Economic History of Argentina
In 1502 European sailors arrived ashore the Argentinean land during the Amerigo Vespucci voyage in
1502. A Spanish navigator named Juan Diaz de Solias visited Argentina during the year of 1516. The
Spanish people created a permanent colony on the site of Buenos Aires in 1580, which was built
overland and greatly resembled those built in Peru. From this established colony the regions of Rio de
la Plata and Buenos Aires become the center of trade in Central America and throughout Europe. In
the year of 1816 on July 9th the region of Buenos Aires would declare for their independence from
Spanish opposition. After their victory over the Spanish, two groups would embark in lengthy
conflicts between one another on who would/should control the region of Buenos Aires, and the two
groups being the centralists and the federalists. These two groups thus combine to create the nation
known to this day as Argentina finally establishing in the late 19th century finally agreeing on views.
Foreigners investing into Argentina s trade would add to a contribution of an economic revolution all
throughout Argentina leading to the production of railroads and mass amounts of trade ports spreading
all throughout the land of Argentina with the British being their primary and significant investor s.
Ever since these momentous events have occurred Argentina has grown to be one of the world s top

Essay on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Case Study
Normal Anatomy and Physiology of Motor Function
The two components of the central nervous system (CNS) are the brain and the spinal cord.
Communication between the brain and the spinal cord happens through motor neurons, which are
nerve cells that enable motor movement. Each motor neuron is made up of a cell body, which holds all
the cell components, dendrites which send information it receives to the cell body, and an axon which
sends nerve impulses to the muscle (Porth Matfin, 2009). As electrical impulses are sent through the
motor neuron, it stimulates the muscle fibers in the body to move. This is the process in which motor
function happens. Therefore, the basic abilities to breathe, speak, swallow, walk and button a shirt are

The manifestations of ALS are caused by the location of motor neuron death. When upper motor
neurons die, the symptoms include problems controlling fine movements, spasms, dysphagia,
dysphonia and dysarthria (Porth Matfin, 2009). Manifestations of lower motor neuron destruction
include fasciculations, weakness, muscle atrophy, and hyporeflexia (Porth Matfin, 2009, p. 1284).
Patients with early signs of ALS usually complain of feeling weak on one side, which is due to the
slowing of electrical impulses to that group of muscles (Ignatavicius Workman, 2010). Since the
impulses are slowed, they are not receiving adequate electrical stimulation to move and the person
feels weak. As the disease progresses, all the motor neurons die and are not regenerated so, the patient
is left paralyzed, losing the ability to speak, swallow and breathe (Ignatavicius Workman, 2010).
A distinctive characteristic of ALS is that although the motor neurons die, the brain, cognitive
functions and sensory neurons stay intact (Porth Matfin, 2009). This makes the disease especially
devastating because patients become trapped inside their dying body, with a fully alert mind, but are
unable to move. It is not known what causes the exact death of the motor neurons in the body, but five
percent to 10% of cases are familial; the others are believed to be sporadic (Porth Matfin, 2009, p.

VI Adaptive Maintenance
Adaptive maintenance is the process of creating flexible enhancements for a given piece of software.
The addition of such features can be alluring to potential customers in that it could potentially offer
something unique, or it could simplify a computerized process by executing new ideas or making use
of new technologies. The process of enhancing current software however, can be a bit difficult as
changes would have to be able to integrate almost seamlessly to the overall structure of the existing
program. In some cases the process is further complicated by the fact that existing code may need to
be carefully modified in order to be able to make the intended modifications.
Occasionally desired changes cannot fit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Programs that are well maintained and refined are also cheaper to maintain due to having a better
overall layout as well as better documentation. Programmers performing regular maintenance on such
systems are able to be more efficient and can potentially spot any errors more easily. In some cases, a
complete overhaul is necessary in order to improve the quality of a program. No system is truly
perfect, however perfective maintenance can forestall the rate at which complications arise. One
disadvantage is that a massive restructuring of assembly language could have a negative impact on the
portability of the software itself. Typically systems that would be most likely to invest in perfective
maintenance are those which serve an essential purpose in everyday life. One example would be a
banking system in order to protect their software and avoid massive defects that could significantly
impact their regular business operations.
VIII Reengineering Source Code Sometimes coding is so badly written that it may as well be a foreign
language with non descriptive variable names and few if any comments. Such code may be easily
understood by the original programmer, however it can be difficult to read for anyone else. In such a
scenario it would be beneficial to reengineer the code so that it s more readable and easily understood
by most anyone who needs to work with it. Restructuring

Decolonisation of Singapore
John de Bhal
Singapore achieved independence in 1959 due to a lack of British colonial retaliation to the Japanese
occupation during World War II. In 1965, it achieved independence for a second time as a result of
poor leadership within the Federation of Malaysia from both Tunku Abdul Rahman and Lee Kuan
Yew.
Singapore, unlike most other states and nations, has achieved independence twice: once in 1959 when
it was decolonised by the British;1 then again after it was expelled from the Federation of Malaysia in
1965, into which Singapore had integrated in 1963. 2 In contrast to many other independence

path of least resistance when leaving Singapore, even though Singaporean authorities and people
wanted their own independent nation at that point.13 The British economy was struggling and it was
apparent that Singapore was too much of a nancial burden.14 It was the nationalistic feeling inspired
by Lee Kuan Yew and the PAP, which came about as a result of Japanese occupation during World
War II, that caused the decolonisation of Singapore in 1959.
The racially prejudiced and poor leadership of Tunku Abdul Rahman
contributed signicantly to Singapore s independence and expulsion from the Federation of Malaysia
in 1965. Tunku Abdul Rahman, Prime Minister of Malaya, and then Malaysia, from 1957 to 1970 15

Singapore wanted to merge with what was Malaya at that point, then ... they [Singapore] must be
ready to serve, ready to die if need be, for Malaya and Malaya alone. 16 Nations surrounding
Singapore and Malaysia were consequently adamant that the merger was not going to be a success
because of this, and that the Tunku was going to privilege the people of his nation in any
circumstance.17 This is reinforced as President Sukarno

As an identified public speaker, he is interviewed by countless acclaimed sources, such as Time Magazine, New York Times, and Washington Post. Widely recognized for being the founder of the Jim Crow Museum; he aspires to invoke conversations regarding diversity and race relations to stir positive development. As a professor of Sociology at Ferris State University, Pilgrim delves into the impertinent caricature of Mammy in relation to African American Women. • 4. Music Vs. Art Education Much too often in America today, modern music and art programs in schools are perceived to many as extracurricular activities rather than important subjects that are vital to a student s learning and skill development. The truth of the matter is that encouraging music and art education in public schools has a much larger impact on student s grades, academic performance, and the economy than the majority people realize. Within the next year city school budgets will be dropping by twenty five percent, and despite the fact that music and art programs have been showing a dramatic contribution to student s learning, this substantial drop in funding for the programs will lead to no dedicated money for art or music programs (Mezzacappa). There is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Music and art are clearly not two subjects that schools today can afford to cut off funding for based on this evidence. Music and art programs are responsible for increasing school attendance, which can lead to being one of the most important things in a student s academic success in school. Students have to attend school and be present in order to attain the information from their classes and teachers if they wish to succeed. Better attendance means more students are in class, which means more students are getting the information they need to excel from their teachers, which ultimately means better grades and test scores for schools. As of today, arts are defined as core subjects in only twenty six states in America (Mandel). If only twenty six states are treating art education as a core subject, that means that twenty four states are currently neglecting art programs and not considering them important to their student s education. If more states are educated on the importance of art programs for young students, and the arts are defined as core subjects nationally, then there will be a noticeable increase in academic achievement across the nation. Art programs have been proven to increase the academic performance of student in schools, and until these twenty four states treat art as a core subject, their students will continue to ... Mixed common threshold for grey matter and white matter overestimate the perfusion lesion in white matter, but underestimate the tissue in white matter [71, 89, 90](summary of the threshold for grey matter and white matter separately from previous studies in figure 7). The variation of absolute perfusion values is highly individual. Furthermore, the variation of the absolute threshold is high between these studies (CBV range from1.67 to 2.4 6 ml/100g in grey matter, with a range of 1.19 to 1.7 6 ml/100g in white matter; CBF range from 17.7 34.6 ml/100g/min in grey matter, and a range of 12.3 to 20.9 ml/100g/min in white matter). Relative thresholds are able to delineate perfusion lesion better than absolute thresholds, due to relative thresholds are more consistent comparing to absolute thresholds, whereas, absolute thresholds varies individually, as previous research has been demonstrated [55, 56, 92]. However, these results lack of standardization and validation to define the optimal thresholds for grey matter and white matter separately. All of these previous studies had a limited number of patients, ranging from 9 to 21. Night and day temperatures, as well as seasonal angles of the sun are things to think about in terms of location if you plan to build a home that utilizes solar energy, such as an earthship. Dave Black states An east west axis (90 degrees to true south) allows the longer side of the structure to be exposed to the sun. That s where the big windows should be. North and east facing windows can lose a lot of heat in the winter, and west facing glass can cause overheating in summer, so they should be few and small.(Use overhangs over the windows to protect the interior from too much summer sun.......) . Earthships are also an environmentally friendly model because of the fact that they can be made from recycled materials such as tires, cans, beams made from recycled trash, etc. Walls made of stacked tires filled with cans serve to store and release heat when needed. This fact also makes it a viable option for a low budget home. Since most, or all, of an earthship can be built with what is essentially trash, most of your building materials can be found cheap or free, provided you have access to a road system. He would say things such as there is no I in team and anything is accomplishable if you work hard enough. He was always inspiring me with his speeches, but one stuck out the most. This speech was at one of our Thursday night meetings; we would meet every Thursday to eat supper together as a team, hang out with freinds, and most importantly get ready for the game on Friday. We would always sit in chairs and listen to him; Usually ranting on about teamwork and stuff like that but he changed it up. The life lesson he was teaching us was play like it was your last game. Artists often work this art form into their paintings, sculptures, music videos, and drawings, revealing how the power of dance can reflect upon those emotions. Likewise, in the painting Les Trois Danseuses, more commonly known as The Three Dancers, the artist, Pablo Picasso (1881 1973) portrays three distorted dancers. The painting was created between Picasso s Cubism and Classicism periods, in the year of 1925. The use of scale and shape, variety, repetition, and color aid in exemplifying the underlying theme of tragedy within Picasso s painting. The image emphasizes the variety of shapes, which causes the concept of chaos to be highlighted. This chaos reveals the different aspects that each of the dancers possesses. A rather prominent variety in shapes and colors provides interest by causing little focus on one specific frame. An array of colors provides for character within each dancer. The leftmost dancer shares colors with the other two, creating a sense of being a part of each. The Chinese government has spent more than 40 years trying to slow their population growth. They have done so through their controversial one child policy. There is no denying that China s one child policy changed the lives of Chinese citizens when it the Chinese Communist Party [CCP] in 1979 as a way of controlling population. Under Mao, the government encouraged families to have as many children as possible, believing that a strong nation grew out of a large population. By 1976, the population grew from 540 million people in 1949 to 940 million. The rapid increase in population stretched the resources that the CCP could provide to the people. The government believed that a population control policy was the only way they prevent the population from experiencing another dramatic increase in size . The CCP hoped that the policy would alleviate some of the social and economic pressure an increasing population created, and the policy has worked. In either case, a creature is put into an environment unnatural to her disposition, yet in Flaubert s example, Emma shares the world we inhabit, and thus the message her story brings is much more pertinent. From those foppish texts she gathers the impression that ladies such as she should be lolling on carriages or dreaming on sofas, or perhaps embracing some dashing young man in a short cloak (Flaubert 32). Yet such is not the reality in which she lives. Flaubert adds to his stark images the homey atmospheres and settings of the provincial towns in which Emma lives, places which by their very simplistic natures are anathema to a romantic such as Bovary. It is only through Emma s depiction of these villages that they are cast as mundane and drab. Though the image exists of the small and backward town with its town gossips and town idiot, it can be seen that it is simply a town, one in which a person can be content that is, if she is not the always unfulfilled Emma Bovary. • 32. U.s Law On Public Sector A REVISION OF THE CURRENT IMPACT OF US LAW ON PUBLIC SECTOR (May focus on CRA, ADEA, FLSA, ADAA, IDEA, FMLA) Laws are basically rules that bind all people and help protect general safety in a community, organization, association, team etc. Laws also help to enforce all individual rights as citizens. One important thing to know is that laws are different across different regions, states and countries. The most important thing to know about any place, organization, community and country is the laws that govern it. State law for driving at a safe speed in Pennsylvania is 65m/hr when driving in highway. If someone drive above 65m/hr and his caught, he will be found guilty of the law and he will be charge. In essence, laws help to maintain orderliness and protection of human rights. U.S law helps to impact positively the right of citizens in public sector and also helps promote equality among its citizens (Publications.Usa.gov, 2016). The high rate of discrimination and favoritism in the past has seriously been tackled and reduced to minimum. Law has helped all individuals to be given fair hearing to employment. Law helps protect all citizens from discrimination due to their race, age, gender or even disability. The law has no respect for any individual, all is subject to act under the law without any preference or favoritism. All citizens are governed by law no matter his or her position in the society. Law governs all, and no one is above the law. Former ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. A Brief Economic History of Argentina In 1502 European sailors arrived ashore the Argentinean land during the Amerigo Vespucci voyage in 1502. A Spanish navigator named Juan Diaz de Solias visited Argentina during the year of 1516. The Spanish people created a permanent colony on the site of Buenos Aires in 1580, which was built overland and greatly resembled those built in Peru. From this established colony the regions of Rio de la Plata and Buenos Aires become the center of trade in Central America and throughout Europe. In the year of 1816 on July 9th the region of Buenos Aires would declare for their independence from Spanish opposition. After their victory over the Spanish, two groups would embark in lengthy conflicts between one another on who would/should control the region of Buenos Aires, and the two groups being the centralists and the federalists. These two groups thus combine to create the nation known to this day as Argentina finally establishing in the late 19th century finally agreeing on views. Foreigners investing into Argentina s trade would add to a contribution of an economic revolution all throughout Argentina leading to the production of railroads and mass amounts of trade ports spreading all throughout the land of Argentina with the British being their primary and significant investor s. • 34. Essay on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Case Study Normal Anatomy and Physiology of Motor Function The two components of the central nervous system (CNS) are the brain and the spinal cord. Communication between the brain and the spinal cord happens through motor neurons, which are nerve cells that enable motor movement. Each motor neuron is made up of a cell body, which holds all the cell components, dendrites which send information it receives to the cell body, and an axon which sends nerve impulses to the muscle (Porth Matfin, 2009). As electrical impulses are sent through the motor neuron, it stimulates the muscle fibers in the body to move. This is the process in which motor function happens. Therefore, the basic abilities to breathe, speak, swallow, walk and button a shirt are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The manifestations of ALS are caused by the location of motor neuron death. When upper motor neurons die, the symptoms include problems controlling fine movements, spasms, dysphagia, dysphonia and dysarthria (Porth Matfin, 2009). Manifestations of lower motor neuron destruction include fasciculations, weakness, muscle atrophy, and hyporeflexia (Porth Matfin, 2009, p. 1284). Patients with early signs of ALS usually complain of feeling weak on one side, which is due to the slowing of electrical impulses to that group of muscles (Ignatavicius Workman, 2010). Since the impulses are slowed, they are not receiving adequate electrical stimulation to move and the person feels weak. As the disease progresses, all the motor neurons die and are not regenerated so, the patient is left paralyzed, losing the ability to speak, swallow and breathe (Ignatavicius Workman, 2010). A distinctive characteristic of ALS is that although the motor neurons die, the brain, cognitive functions and sensory neurons stay intact (Porth Matfin, 2009). This makes the disease especially devastating because patients become trapped inside their dying body, with a fully alert mind, but are unable to move. It is not known what causes the exact death of the motor neurons in the body, but five percent to 10% of cases are familial; the others are believed to be sporadic (Porth Matfin, 2009, p. ... • 35. I V VI Adaptive Maintenance Adaptive maintenance is the process of creating flexible enhancements for a given piece of software. The addition of such features can be alluring to potential customers in that it could potentially offer something unique, or it could simplify a computerized process by executing new ideas or making use of new technologies. The process of enhancing current software however, can be a bit difficult as changes would have to be able to integrate almost seamlessly to the overall structure of the existing program. In some cases the process is further complicated by the fact that existing code may need to be carefully modified in order to be able to make the intended modifications. Occasionally desired changes cannot fit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Programs that are well maintained and refined are also cheaper to maintain due to having a better overall layout as well as better documentation. Programmers performing regular maintenance on such systems are able to be more efficient and can potentially spot any errors more easily. In some cases, a complete overhaul is necessary in order to improve the quality of a program. No system is truly perfect, however perfective maintenance can forestall the rate at which complications arise. One disadvantage is that a massive restructuring of assembly language could have a negative impact on the portability of the software itself. Typically systems that would be most likely to invest in perfective maintenance are those which serve an essential purpose in everyday life. One example would be a banking system in order to protect their software and avoid massive defects that could significantly impact their regular business operations. VIII Reengineering Source Code Sometimes coding is so badly written that it may as well be a foreign language with non descriptive variable names and few if any comments. Such code may be easily understood by the original programmer, however it can be difficult to read for anyone else. In such a scenario it would be beneficial to reengineer the code so that it s more readable and easily understood by most anyone who needs to work with it. Restructuring ... In 1965, it achieved independence for a second time as a result of poor leadership within the Federation of Malaysia from both Tunku Abdul Rahman and Lee Kuan Yew. Singapore, unlike most other states and nations, has achieved independence twice: once in 1959 when it was decolonised by the British;1 then again after it was expelled from the Federation of Malaysia in 1965, into which Singapore had integrated in 1963. 2 In contrast to many other independence movements, Singapore s were not violent; political decisions led to the island nation s independence in both instances. The racially prejudiced and poor leadership of Tunku Abdul Rahman contributed signicantly to Singapore s independence and expulsion from the Federation of Malaysia in 1965. Tunku Abdul Rahman, Prime Minister of Malaya, and then Malaysia, from 1957 to 1970 15 placed the needs of his nation before the needs of the merged Federation. He outlined in 1958 that if Singapore wanted to merge with what was Malaya at that point, then ... they [Singapore] must be ready to serve, ready to die if need be, for Malaya and Malaya alone. 16 Nations surrounding Singapore and Malaysia were consequently adamant that the merger was not going to be a success because of this, and that the Tunku was going to privilege the people of his nation in any circumstance.17 This is reinforced as President Sukarno Government of the Republic of Singapore (1961) State of ...
