Children are natural learners using curiosity as an engine for their studies. Imagine what we are
capable as students if we are allowed to study what we love and enjoy? Education in
underdeveloped countries has attracted significant attention in recent years from educational
policy makers around the world. It is considered a key social factor for economic prosperity as
well as social progress in the fields of gender and racial equality. The Millennium Development
Goals and Targets put Achieve universal primary educationas Goal number two. The United
Nations established Unesco (United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization) and
the Heavily indebted poor country initiative (HIPC) to help developing countries improve their
educational programs. A total of 653 million dollars where spent in the year 2012 2013 to help
low and middle income countries improve their educational programs. However, while education
coverage has increased over time, Bolivia still faces considerable challenges for its education
system to improve. Universal coverage remains a challenge especially among disadvantaged groups.
We desperately require the help of nonprofit organizations to help with our educational reform.
Bolivia s National Educational System is composed of a formal and a non formal sector. The non
formal system covers adult and special education. Formal education is divided into four cycles:
initial, primary, secondary, and University. As recent as

Western Operas Depict Inaccurate Facts about the Orients
In this essay, I am going to discuss and make a stand that western operas depict inaccurate facts
about the orients. In order to substantiate my stand, I will also look into some of the western operas
that are based on the orient. There are many definitions of Orientalism. Some examples are as
followed. According to the oxforddictionaries.com, Orientalism is Style, artifacts, or traits
considered characteristic of the peoples and cultures of Asia. (Oxford University Press 2014)
Edwards Said, author of the book Orientalism defines Orientalism as a corporate institution for
dealing with the Orient , dealing with it by making statements about it, authorizing views of it,
describing it, by teaching it, settling it, ruling over it: in short, Orientalism as a Western style for
dominating, restructuring, and having authority over the Orient. (Locke 1993, under Reflections on
Orientalism in Opera) From the definitions available, it can concluded that the word orient in the
term of Orientalism is referring to either the Islamic Middle East (e.g. North Africa, Turkey, Arabia,
Persia), or East and South Asia (the Far East , e.g. India, Indochina, China, Japan).
Orientalism has been part of western arts for a long time. Orientalism in Music occurred since the
late Renaissance. This can be seen by a widely performed dance during that period, called the
Moresca, which was associated with the Moors of North Africa and was often performed with dark
skin makeup and with

Modernism In Waiting For Godot
INTRODUCTION
The modern era in literature occupied the late years of nineteenth and early years of twentieth
century. The period was marked by a strong and intentional break with tradition. This break includes
a strong reaction against established religious, traditional, political, and social views. It was an
influential period that shaped the development of western civilization throughout the twentieth
century. A thorough analysis of modern philosophy, culture, and art reveals the mindset of
modernity and how the historical events of the era influenced life during the early 1900s.
This period influenced a lot of literary figures in twentieth century, which is displayed by them
through their works. The poets especially, were largely expressive... Show more content on

This is shown through the narrating lines do not move , thus showing the unclear relation of
thoughts and actions.
In the play, there is no orderly sequence of events taking place like, the tree which was barren one
day is covered with leaves the next, the two of them return to the same place every day to wait for
Godot but don t remember exactly what happened the day before. Night falls instantly, and Godot
never comes.
Even the tone of the play is also dull. Vladimir and Estragon is shown with only one purpose in the
play i.e. to meet Godot, however their only purpose is also left unfulfilled in the end, hence
resulting in ultimate hopelessness, uncertainty and vagueness in their lives. They are left to lead a
meaningless life with no purpose to fulfil. Thus there are a lot of instances and elements that
contributes to the fact that vagueness in life is majorly depicted in the play, either through actions
or dialogues or events,

The Brotherhood of Corps
The Brotherhood of the Corps On November 10th 1775 in a small tavern just outside of
Philadelphia, PA called Tunn Tavern a family was started. America, a fledgling nation at the time
was in need of an elite, fast moving, amphibious military, one that could be useful in sea to land
assaults. The Marine Corps was born, and recruiting for this newfound, elite force began. The
Army was for the average man, it was thought of as the branch who would enlist any and all. The
Marine Corps operates on a different principle, one that is bold, yet refreshing; Maybe you can be
one of us . I became part of this family at a young age; I was taken under a wing and developed as a
human, and as a man. It became part of me, it embedded itself into my... Show more content on

All of these things are seen as sloppy while in the Marine Corps, and tend to carry with you even
afterwards. Most people of my generation tend not to take much pride in something they do
which is sad. The Marine Corps teaches you to bust your balls and then take great pride in what
you ve done. Let it be known that YOU did this, or YOU were a part of this, you get a sense of
accomplishment from that. Most people look at the Marine Corps and see the news where
Marines are slamming pins into each other s chests like brutal savages and are reluctant to think
Marines are hardworking, dedicated people striving to maintain their spot at the top. I have
heard several different opinions about the Marine Corps which are not true, but I simply
compare that to someone who is on the outside looking in through a foggy window and may
think they see something they don t. I take great pride in the fact I am putting myself through
college on my own, while also paying my own rent, car payments, and bills. How many of my
peers are at the same level of life that I am? Being a Marine is something to be very proud of, it s
an extremely tough lifestyle but also very rewarding as described best by the quote I found in a
book on the Marine Corps. The mental and moral qualities of the United States Marine have been
tested constantly since the birth of the nation. All through the long history of the Marine Corps

Alcoholism In Cry Baby
Cry Baby is an emotional, love sick girl who s heart is too big for her body. Other students at her

to hide. ( Dollhouse ). We first get a little snippet of her mother, an alcoholic with pretty jewelry
and a terrible marriage. The mother s husband is unfaithful and cheats on her. Her son also smokes

she does tell him, it will ruin everything. Instead of telling him, she washes her mouth out with

Kant And Morality
When talking about whether or not consequences of an act have anything to do with morality,
one must think of all the ways in which an individual s acts could be considered morally wrong.
Morality relates to conduct, whereas they both involve some type of action that is partaken by
the individual, which can be mistaken as being good even though the consequences are
considered bad (Dewey, 1891).When a person performs an action, and the outcome of that action
is a negative one, we often find ourselves blaming anything other than the individual themselves
because we believe they had no foresight on what was going to happen. Dewey describes that
when conduct and character are involved in telling if somebody is being moral, or immoral, we
are unable to say whether or not the action was good or bad until we know how that action turns
out and we know what the consequences are. (Dewey, 1891).
In order to decide whether or not a consequence of an action is morally good, or morally wrong,
one must first recognize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Duties and laws apply to an individual and their morality. Kant states that morality cannot be based
on man, we cannot base morality on experiences because morality is unconditioned. (Kant, 1998).
Metaphysical philosophy is pure, much as morality is unconditioned and pure. Metaphysics applies
to our efforts of understanding the world around us, it is independent from all experiences and
knowledge and applies to all, much as morality applies to all. Metaphysics cannot be compared to
the empirical because the empirical is based on our experiences, it is completely individual and
therefore cannot be applied to all morality. Kant states that you cannot understand practical morals
without metaphysics. (Kant, 1998). This is the basis of understanding whether or not Kant believes
consequences of an act have anything to do with

How Do Drones Pros And Cons
Value in Drones? Deadly flying machines, also known as drones. These machines can
malfunction at any time or misfire causing havoc in towns but does their accomplishments
outweigh their failures? Are drones a necessary evil or invasion of liberty and privacy? The
drones topic is one of the most debated about topics in the world right now . Drones are used by
the government in war, by Amazon to deliver packages but when they government uses them,
they use drones in war instead of the military jets. They are also used to monitor cites and towns
in America which made people feel like their space is being invaded. we don t want the

Daniel H. Pink s Theory
Regardless of where I go, that one urge to develop myself will always be there. Motivation for
me has been somewhat of a simple term until I discovered the different types. I feel as though I
have a fair amount of control regarding my future career because I can t take some classes just
yet without getting into other classes. I have not very much control over if the class gets full or is
not a good time to take or even require some prerequisites. The two motivations that have been
discussed in the book Drive by Daniel H. Pink, come from inside and outside. As I already know
that some of our motivationis going based off of our instincts as humans and other parts of
motivation come from a reward or a punishment, but there has been a third type discovered that
has explained the reason for wanting to grow as a person and it is known as motivation 3.0. I
agree that motivation 1.0 and 2.0 are useful to an extent because of my experience with both types
working then at some point being limited or losing motivation confirms it. Pink states that
motivation 2.0 works but not that well and it is not something to rely on (P.19). I wantto be a

Pink s theory of motivation 3.0 is extremely useful because it sheds light on the type of
motivation that seems to actually work so far. Motivation can come from various sources such as
internally as something we know or are born to do or externally whether it is something we learn
or develop. I plan to implement motivation 3.0 into my career field because it requires what
motivation 3.0 has, I will need to practice, work on getting better and work on things after work is
over. The goal that I have set for myself from what I ve noticed will get me to the spot that I want
to be in one way or another. There are different types of motivation but they can be compared to one

Maple Wood Research Paper
Maple is most commonly associated with the production of syrup, not primarily with smoking
food. Sugar maple trees are tapped for their sap, which is reduced to make maple syrup and
reduced even further to make maple sugar. The sugar contained in the wood is thought to enhance
its value as a smoking wood.
Which tree do maple wood chips come from?
Maple trees are native to Asia but can also be found in Europe, Africa and North America. There
are about 128 species of maple tree. The wood from maple trees is classified as a hardwood,
which means that it is dense and relatively dry when compared to the wood from softwoods.
Wood from softwood trees like redwood and cedar can be highly resinous. Resinous woods cause
creosote build up and can give foods an unpleasant taste. How does smoking with maple wood
chips impact taste? How is it unique?
Maple wood is said to give ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has more in common with fruit woods like cherry and apple than with stronger flavored woods
like hickory or mesquite. It is perfect when used in combination with the more flavorful woods
as you can use it to tone down their harshness and to give them a little sweetness. Note that while
maple wood does give out a lot of white smoke when you first put it on the coals, it will quickly be
replaced by the light blue smoke you want from your wood chips. Which foods work best with the
maple wood chip flavor?
Maple wood s sweetness is thought to be best for pork and poultry and will pair well with their
flavors. This is because those meats are milder and maple wood enhances their flavors without
canceling them out the way a stronger tasting wood might. Maple wood does an especially good
job when used to smoke hams. If you pair it with another mild smoke wood like alder, you can
use maple wood chips to smoke fish like salmon and trout. Maple is also used by some to smoke
cheeses, often in combination with other mild

Arguments For Vaccines
The opposition to vaccinations is a well known phenomenon that dates back to the Victorian age
when it was self limited by the awareness of the importance to be protected against fearsome
infectious diseases such as smallpox and polio. These positive effects of the vaccination campaigns
have blurred out, if not erased, the memory of the tragic consequences of the past s widespread
diseases, leading people to underestimate the severity of the harm that vaccinations prevent.
Vaccines represent one of the most important aspects of pediatric preventive care. However, parents
are increasingly questioning the safety of and need for vaccines, and as a result, vaccinationrates
have fallen to dangerously low levels in certain communities.
Parents hesitant to vaccinate their children may seek exemptions from state vaccine mandates.
Recent outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases in the United States have drawn attention to this
epidemic. Vaccinations coverage may be increased by schools fully implementing State
kindergarten vaccination laws, and by providers assessing children s vaccination status at every
clinic visit, and administering missed vaccine doses. While vaccine acceptance remains high in
general, fear of vaccines has grown dramatically in many developed countries. In some
communities, this fear has led to significantly increased rates of vaccine refusal which are
associated with increases in illness and death from vaccine preventable diseases, and large
economic costs

Net Neutrality and Market Regulation
With a unanimous 3 0 vote on January 14, 2014, the US Circuit Court of Appeals for the
District of Columbia circuit court gutted key pieces of the Federal Communication
Commission s (FCC) 2010 order to broadband service providers, or, net neutrality rules .
Simply put, net neutrality is the principle that broadband providers should treat all Internet content
and applications equally (Lyons). Based on telecommunications law, the FCC s 2010 order had
created a set of three primary rules for net neutrality to govern how broadband companies were to
operate. The first, called the Transparency Rule required companies to

Both Wu and Lyons approach the net neutrality debate from a legal angle these angles are, of
course, different and lead to drastically different trajectories.
Whereas Wu approaches it with a concern for fairness to the consumer and the small market ,
Lyons examines the apparent lack of fairness towards the providers. It goes without saying that the
repercussions of this angle for Lyons distance his argument from many audience.
Furthermore, both use history Wu, in terms of cyclical trends throughout history and new
technologies, and Lyons through a comprehensive analysis of the past and current applications of
unreasonable discrimination as laid out through В§202. Ultimately, Lyons opines, that
broadband providers should be permitted the same flexibility [as telephone companies] and
invoking the traditional language of common carriage while redefining the duties that language
carriers, is both unwise and an incorrect interpretation of the history of common carriage
(1071). Wu and Lyons, having approached the debate from different sides, arrive at starkly polar,
but yet both still legitimate, conclusions. While Wu may be a proponent of Title II as a 5,

The Land of New Zealand has shaped its people, as the people have struggled to shape the land.
The nation s two main cultures Maori and Pakeha are as distinct as the forested mountains are
from the crystal clear lakes and roaring rivers, but they are also united and divided by the rugged
land they have conquered and tamed.
In all the cultures of the Pacific region, that of the Maori stands out in its rich stock of plays,

Maori way of life, and in this century there has been a conscious effort to preserve or revive the
traditional skills of weaving and fibre arts, painting, latticework, carving, tattoo, chant and oratory,
as well as Maori language and customs. The spiritual dimension of Maori art is still strongly felt:

down like the curtain of a play waiting to burst with art. Setting off with the sun behind his back,
he reminds himself that he will grow old. Following aspirations requires something much more
dependable. A man s first car will simply not do the trick. Another must step in and assume the
reigns. Driving effortlessly into the twilight, he begins to wonder how this car will affect its next
owner. That new handler will clench the door handle with an excitement that can not be
measured. The transition into the drivers seat is so smooth and mesmerizing. He will become a
new man. Gripping the coarse steering wheel, the feeling of euphoria carries him over to the
shifter, the sense of power is running through his veins. Shifting into drive is a pleasure he
respects each and every time. Driving down the main strip of town the hair on the back of his
neck, irritated at first by the change in temperature, is now standing in applause of his decision to
take the car for a midnight cruise.

Early education of children is so important because it usually decides whether or not the children go
to college or be successful in life; so this is the reason American government should invest more in
improving the education for the children of immigrants.
I have read about how immigrants struggle to get their education in the United States because of
lack of well qualified ESL teachers, limited resources in schools for immigrants etc. The education
system has been very unfair for the immigrants because very little things are done to help them be
more successful in getting their education. In an article published in Harvard University journal a
researcher says, Even though one out of every four children in the United States is an immigrant or
the U.S. born child of immigrants, many schools are ill equipped to meet their needs, which shows
how the education system has not been fair for the immigrants (Tamer). As we all know there are
lots of immigrants in United States and I think that the education system in United States should be
changed in such a way that it suits everyone including the immigrants. In the same article Tamer
says, Even though one out of every four children in the United States is an immigrant or the U.S.
born child of immigrants, many schools are ill equipped to meet their needs , which shows more
importance of schools and programs to help the immigrants in the United States.

How to Handle Violence in Youth Sports
Everyone agrees that parent involvement is a good thing. But when the parent behaves
inappropriately, it creates a poor environment for the children to learn and enjoy themselves.
Sideline rage with parents behaving badly at youth sports events is such an epidemic, that 76% of
respondents from 60 high school athletic associations said increased spectator interference is
causing many officials to quit (Associated Press, 6/3/01). Parents are supposed to be role models,
and the lessons they teach will determine their values and actions in the future. These days violence
in children s sports is not limited to the playing field; overbearing parents are creating dangerous
situations on the field.

At age ten, many kids have private coaching and attend specialized clinics in the off season. The
coach is usually someone with a background in sports, either a retired professional player or coach.
Practices are now scheduled for twice a week and attending a weekly clinic is strongly
recommended, with a strength conditioning workout schedule between practices. All of these
changes mean more involvement time for the parents. Parents are now spending up ten hours a
week watching their children compete with other children, and this pressure can sometimes be too
much for the parent.
In 2002, Thomas Junta was convicted of involuntary manslaughter after he attacked Michael
Costin, who later died of his injuries. Mr. Costin was refereeing a pickup game of hockey. The
fight was witnessed by a dozen children including the children of both Mr. Junta and Mr. Costin
(Butterfield, 2002). While this is by far one of the worst incidents in sports rage, there are other
types of behavior that can still harm our youth. Physical violence is often a rare occurrence; verbal
abuse and intimidation have been seen frequently. When a parents scream at their child after
practice that he/she did not run fast enough or hit hard enough, can be considered a form of verbal
abuse. Also consider when a parent of one child screams at the team for not performing well and
not winning the game, this combined with swearing can reduce a child to tears. Daniel Wann, PhD

end of the 19th century where the theatrewas turning from romanticism more into the genre of
social realism. In contrast, Rent was written in 1996 which was close to the end of 20th century.
During this one century, many things were acceptable by the society that were not acceptable
during the time of La boheme. Rent demonstrates the things that would normally not be performed
in a theatre. In other words, the movie provokes some audience. This essay is going to explain how
interconnected audience and the theatre is and how they affect each other.

Both La boheme and Rent shows a story of lives of common people who are poor and need to
pay rent to the landlord. Unlike common opera, La boheme shows the mixture of romanticism
and social realism. Each genre have their own function and purpose. Romanticism shows the
only good sides of the world while social realism shows the issues common people are facing
daily. When the audience goes watch a romanticist play, they expect to feel happy and away from
the real woeld. As opposed to, the audience would expect social issues and things that might
provoke them from a social realism play. As the plays have a time difference of a hundred years,
they affect the audience differently and as the norms of society change, the boundaries change too.

High School Dropout Is Not Synonymous With Being A Failure
Question One: My role is a high school dropout; I couldn t finish high school and I am now facing
the harsh consequences of doing so. Although the rate of high school drop outs has declined in
recent years, Professional School Counseling claims that 7% of high school students continue to
drop out every year. As a high schooldropout, most people are quick to assume the worst, that I am
lazy, unproductive, and stupid. On a daily basis people begin to assume superiority over me
because I decided to drop out. Not many people agree, but being a high school dropout is not
synonymous with being a failure. They assume that I just don t know any better, or that everything
they say needs explaining because they think it ll go right over my head.... Show more content on

It s not a bad job, but the customer service can make my day a living Hell. Most people are not

Columbia Disaster Research Paper
The Columbia disaster, a catastrophic event where a space shuttle broke apart during re entry.
All seven of the crew members were killed on that day. This event really shook up NASA, both
good and bad. The following days, tons of ground reports were done, looking for the debris of the
spacecraft. They also analyzed the footage and other reports of the shuttle. This is what happened
after the Columbia disaster; so that begs the question, what s the full story of the Columbia disaster?
On January 16th, 2003, the spacecraft named Columbia was launched on this day and this is where
the story begins. The Columbia was the first ever spaceship to reach into space in 1981; and

Vietnam War Archetype
Imagine being suddenly drafted to war, not prepared for the death and horror. Young, confused,
scared, naГЇve. During the Vietnam War, many young men were forced to face a war that
changed them, and not necessarily for the better. Many of the men who went to war experienced
terrors that changed them in a way that affected their lives after, as shown by countless war
stories and poems. Norman Bowker, from Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried (1990), is a
perfect example of the hard bitten war veteranarchetype. Fighting in the VietnamWar and feeling as
if he had a part in his friend s death(Kiowa) caused him so much guilt and pain that he ended up
hanging himself after endlessly driving around a lake when returning home. Similarly, Yusef
Komunyakaa s poem, The Dead at Quang Tri , emphasizes the ghosts that haunt soldiers during
and after war. Overall, the haunting memories that characters deal with in war stories, like O
Brien and Komunyakaa s, display the long lasting effects of death and war on the minds of
soldiers. To begin, Norman Bowker perfectly exemplifies the hard bitten war veteran archetype.
He lived in pain, constantly ruminating on time at war and making himself an outsider to society.
He felt hopeless, always reliving the nightmares of war, like when he lost his friend Kiowa to a
field of waste. At the end of the chapter Speaking of Courage , O Brien wrote, After at time he got
out, walked down to the beach, and waded into the lake without

Battle analysis of San Juan Hill
Introduction
Throughout American history, a number of battles come to hold iconic positions in the shaping of
this great nation: Lexington and Concord, the Battle of Bunker Hill, the Alamo, Gettysburg,
Belleau Wood, Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima and the Battle of the Bulge, just to name a
few. When the Spanish American War of is thought of, the Battle of San Juan Hillundoubtedly
comes to mind. Americans think of the great sacrifices throughout the fight. They think of Teddy

crowd of soldiers, situated by their artillery s burn and their surveillance balloon, came under
Spanish fire. The major assault began at 1:00 P.M. The key to the attack on San Juan Hill by a
U.S. infantry partition was the effectual flames of a series of three Gatling (machine) guns that
brushed the peak and forced most of the Spanish protectors to flee as the infantry in some disorder

To the right, in the intervening time, rudiments of a get down cavalry dissection moved alongside
Kettle Hill. Devoid of advantage of weaponry or the Gatling gun, and in the countenance of serious

Standard Oil Trust Research Paper
The story of the monopoly of oil by the Standard Oil Trust is one of the more dramatic storylines
in the history of the U.S. economy. This monopoly on oil occurred at a time when the United States
was in the middle of a transformation from an agricultural society to the greatest industrial
economy the world has ever seen. The effects of the Standard Oilmonopolyon the U.S., and the
world, were immeasurable, and the lessons that can be learned from this incredible story are as
applicable today as they were a hundred years ago (www.linfo.org, 2004).
John D. Rockefeller founded the Standard Oil Trust in 1870 in Cleveland Ohio, the oil refining
mecca of the time. The trust almost immediately began using a variety of cutthroat techniques to
acquire or destroy competitors and thereby consolidate the oil industry. Some techniques used by
Standard Oil were to temporarily undercut the prices of their competitors, creating secret deals
with the railroad companies to gain a cheaper shipping rate for its oil, and acquiring a majority of
the pipelines needed to transport the un refined oil to the refinery. By 1878 Rockefeller and his
company had gained control of nearly 90 percent of the oil refined in the United States. The
company s dominance of oil, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the refined kerosene to the big cities like New York and Philadelphia. This arrangement meant that

not discriminate in their shipping charges. Standards Oil s use of discounted was only the first step
in becoming a monopoly (www.crf usa.org,

The Unpreparedness Of Nurses
The article by Sylvia Baack and Danita Alfred attempted in earnest to determine the preparedness of
nurses to manage disaster situations. The research was based on an online study on nurses by
asking them to fill out questionnaires that would then determine how they felt about disaster
situations and how best to handle them (Baack Alfred, 2013). The use of the 620 nurses was
prudent as it provided a significant sample space to handle the possibility of bias. The scope of the
research was however limited to the Texas state of America. This meant that the responses given
represented the general feeling among southern states as Texas is among the southern part of the
country. Nevertheless, given that no information was sought about where these nurses were trained,
it is arguable that their vocational training could have been distributed among all states in the nation
or fairly among a majority of the states.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, if the persons filling the questionnaires were not the nurses themselves; this would
greatly affect the integrity of the data collected. However, the large scope again makes up for this
weakness since a good number of respondents would give the honest and discrete information
required. The findings indicated that a good number of nurses are not confident with the way they
handle disaster situations. This is a common opinion among health professionals since many nurses
according to Veenema (2012) are often unprepared for emergencies. This is because they do not
anticipate the magnitude of some of the occurrences they experience. The research was thus a
success and indeed proved the hypothesis on nurse preparedness to disaster

Avoiding the Possessive Shadow of Society
Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, It is easy in the world to live after the world s opinion; it is
easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd
keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude. (Emerson 1) Being one s self in
today s society is increasingly difficult every year and can have a major effect on the mental
state of teenagers. It is easy to follow the pack, but then one is just a faceless person marching in
with the crowd with no true purpose; true strength is in those who try to be themselves in the face
of society. Many teens struggle with their identities and can turn to self harm or even suicide to
relieve their pain, yet not enough effort goes into trying to help these struggling teens. In fact in a
recent study done for Curing the illness: suicide prevention , professor John Wensly states that
Suicide rates are increasing alarmingly. Every year we see a ten percent increase in suicide
attempts alone. (Wensly 23) In his book Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer writes about Christopher
McCandless, who did anything but live in society s large and possessive shadow. Chris broke free
from society s chains and lived his life with adventure despite the numerous people telling him to
stop. Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer focuses on Christopher McCandless and his mysterious
decision to live on the road.

Schlieffen Pl War Against Russia And France
The Schlieffen Plan was Germany s plan for war against Russia and France. The purpose of this
plan was to help Germany survive the earliest part of World War I by knocking France out in the
West before turning their focus to Russia whom was East of them. The ultimate goal and way of
accomplishment was to quickly defeat the French before Russia could mobilize its forces to join
the fight. This plan was requested by Kaiser (German emperor) Wilhelm II, created by the chief of
staff Alfred von Schlieffen in 1903, and revised in 1905. Due to the Franco Prussian alliance
Germany could not attack just one country but rather be forced to fight both in a two front war.

The German commanders decided to not attack from France s rear but rather from the Franco
German border, which was probably one of their biggest mistakes because the French were lined
and heavily protecting themselves and their line. This plan was flipped due to Germany s
inability to predict what was happening in other countries. These miscalculations over the role
of Belgian resistance, speed of Russia moving in Eastern Prussian territory and Britain s
immediate entry into the land war at the Battle of Mons led to Germany s military plans being
weakened. After a few weeks of battle, it was clear this plan had failed. The plan itself effected
the war but in a way, it also had nothing to do with the outcome of the war. If the plan had worked
the way it was originally planned, that would have meant no other countries made a move to
protect themselves or fight back. Since the plan did not go as it was supposed to, it was clear
Germany was behind in what was happening in other countries, were under prepared, and had no
way of predicting exactly what would happen when they did

Life Styles Inventory
Introduction
Individuals possess different skills that have an impact on their thinking and management style. The
style varies from individual to individual depending on their opinions, perceptions, thoughts, and
skills. The Life Style Inventory is a tool, which can be used to analyze and evaluate the
management and leadership skills of an individual. The LSI has different styles and individuals
can rate the styles according to their own skills. It will help in analyzing the management and
leadership capabilities of an individual by evaluating the key skills. I have taken the LSI test to
analyze and examine my skills, which can help in selecting an appropriate management and
leadership style to achieve success and growth.
Personal Thinking Styles The cognitive and thought process of individuals is influenced by the
personal attributes, skills, capabilities, and perceptions of individuals. The personal thinking style
varies from individual to individual depending on various factors and resources. Evaluation of
personal skills helps in developing and enhancing skills so that success can be achieved. The LSI
results have helped me in realizing my personal thinking style, which has a strong impact on my
behavior, perception, and attitude. The LSI result suggests that I belong to the avoidance category,
which means that I use defensive and aggressive strategies to prove my point and

Federal Government s Difficulty in Adopting a Budget
Over the past few years the federal government has experienced considerable difficulty in
adopting a budget. Instead of agreeing to a budget that allows for the orderly operation of the
government s various agencies and determines the nation s annual spending and revenue
priorities, legislative and executive branches have been embroiled in acrimonious debate that
has largely broken down along political lines. The presence budgetary process was originally
created in 1974 (Keith, 1997) and there have been a number of abuses and problems over the
years since in the use of the process but since the early 2000s the process has largely failed to
serve the nation s needs. With increasing difficulty, Congress has, since that time, been unable to
smoothly adopt a budget with most budgets since that time being delayed until well into the fiscal
year and, most recently, a complete failure to adopt a budget. In the forty plus years since the
present budgetary process was created, a variety of problems have developed which have hampered
the operation of the government (Pew Commission, 2010). First among these problems is the fact
that the present system does not require the executive and legislative branches to begin negotiating
their potential differences over the budget until late in the budgetary process. By the time that the
two branches are expected to begin discussing their differences the budgetary process has been
proceeding for months and the various agencies dependent on the

What Does Myrtle Wilson Symbolize In The Great Gatsby
In the 1920 s, the ideal of change was deeply ingrained into American society. This was due to the
increase of industrialism and materialism following World War I which inspired the search for new
freedoms and encouraged the establishment of radical concepts, such as class mobility. This period
of liberation and its effect on the mindset of American citizens is illustrated through The Great
Gatsby. In the novel, the characters of Myrtle Wilson and Jay Gatsbyserve as representations of
optimistic people during the Roaring Twenties who fell victim to the prospect of advancement and
ultimately fell short of their goals. With the introduction of social mobility, much of the lower class

Analysis Of The Experiment Management And The Worker
Since the publication of the experiment report management and the worker in 1939(Gillespie,

Hawthorne studies have been subject to many criticisms but it produced the fundamental changes in
the development of management thoughts. The great contribution Hawthorne studies made to the
development of modern management these experiments are identified as the most important piece
of experimental industrial social science ever undertaken. For example, Buchanan and Huczynski

Hawthorne experiment and its findings, how Hawthorne studies reshape the modern management
thinking in the sense of social science, criticisms on Hawthorne studies and conclusion. The

Database Administrators
1Introduction
Database is any collection of data or information, that is specially organized for rapid search and
retrieval by a computer. Databases are structured to facilitate the storage, retrieval, modification, and
deletion of data in conjunction with various data processing operations.
A database consists of a file or a set of files. The information in these files may be broken down
into records, each of which consists of one or more fields. Fields are the basic units of data
storage, and each field typically contains information pertaining to one aspect or attribute of the
entity described by the database. Using keywords and various sorting commands, users can rapidly

Recoverability is the DBA #8217;s most important concern.
Recoverability, also sometimes called disaster recovery, takes two primary forms. First the backup,
then recovery tests.
The backup of the database consists of data with timestamps combined with database logs to
change the data to be consistent to a particular moment in time. It is possible to make a backup of
the database containing only data without timestamps or logs, but the DBA must take the database
offline to do such a backup.
The recovery tests of the database consist of restoring the data, then applying logs against that data
to bring the database backup to consistency at a particular point in time up to the last transaction in
the logs. Alternatively, an offline database backup can be restored simply by placing the data in
place on another copy of the database.
If a DBA (or any administrator) attempts to implement a recoverability plan without the recovery
tests, there is no guarantee that the backups are at all valid. In practice, in all but the most mature
RDBMS packages, backups rarely are valid without extensive testing to be sure that no bugs or
human error have corrupted the backups.

Life Of Pi Animals
Being stranded in the middle of the Pacific with only the company of a full grown Bengal tiger
will take its toll on a person. In the book Life of Pi animals are a place of comfort and familiarity
to Pi, the son of a zookeeper, who spends his whole life surrounded by them. While stranded in
the middle of the ocean, he believes various animals from his family s zoo are with him on the
lifeboat, and the question of if that is true is to be interpreted by the reader. The animal story is not
the truth, but it is Pi s own bearable fiction, it presents the story in a way the reader can respond to

story of the animals is a different interpretation of reality, by turning his story into fiction, it

The film †There Will Be Blood’ by Thomas Anderson
The film There Will Be Blood by Thomas Anderson is very complex and a movie that makes you
think. In the beginning it was very confusing because you have to follow along with the
characters without words being said. Also, because of all the possible disorders that can be
developing in the characters of the movie. It is most recognized by the main character Daniel
Plainview and all the possible perspectives of interpretations (Analysis 0:20) this movie has. As I
was watching this movie, this would be more of a family study as its most important theme.
(Analysis 0:36) This is because it seems that Daniel is the father to all the characters and then
they are in the end related to him in some way. I believe that all the characters in the movie that
were introduced were there to affect Daniel in some way, be a contrast to him, or be a reflection of
him.
Daniel Plainview is a man who has severe trust issues and is very troubled, but he wants to have a
family. His characteristics are so heavily shown though the movie that they end up being his major
flaws in the movie. These flaws are the things that end up destroying his connections to his family

An Ebook Is Short For Electronic Book
An eBook is short for Electronic Book; it s created on a computer and sold digitally to
customers. It does not pass through editors and publishers who all take a portion of the profits
from the author. If you can write and are an expert on something, you can write an eBook and
sell it online. An EBook has distinct advantages over a regular book in that you can place
hyperlinks into an eBook that will direct customers to websites where you may be selling products
relating to that particular eBook. In this way you make money once on your eBook sells and then
again when your customers pay you a visit on your website.
You can place Affiliate Links in your book. An Affiliate link is where your customer clicks and is
taken to a place like Amazon or another website selling products. When they purchase products
from these links, you the author, are given a portion of the sale. If you can write, you can make
money online. Let s say you enjoy Golden Retriever dogs. You know how to breed them, what they
eat, how to handle their health issues and just where to tickle them to make them giggle. You are

These definitions may be seen as complex, varied, and diverse . But there is a basic feature to this
type of theatre, it is his desire to remain truthful to the subject being referred. It is based on history
and his historical events. John Grierson defined Verbatim theatre as the creative treatment of

Irish Stereotypes Essay examples
The Irish people have been on the receiving end of many racial stereotypes. When they migrated
to America because of lack of jobs, poor living conditions, and many other reasons they were
treated as the lowest member of the social class. They were given jobs that were thought to be too
unsafe for blacks to carryout because the loss of a slave was an out of pocketexpense(Kinsella,
2002). But The Irish were not only discriminated against in America, but in their own country as
well, and England. And in the book written by Frank McCourt, he really focuses on the Irish
stereotypes. But did it affect Frank when he was growing up, and why were the Irish discriminated
so much by the use of these stereotypes? When Irish families... Show more content on

Irish were not thought to be good to have in a neighborhood because they were not familiar to
plumbing, etc. So they were forced to live in make shift shanty towns with other Irish
immigrants. When they went to go find employment, the circumstances were much the same as
well. The jobs that required skilled labor were not available to the Irish because they couldn t be
trusted. So they mainly got jobs doing manual unskilled labor, such as working at the docks,
where the risk of injury was high. In Boston, Massachusetts, the center of anti Irish feelings, 295
Irish immigrants were actually sent back to Britain by the Know Nothing Party for being a drain
on the local economy. And in the south, some Irish were called niggers turned inside out , while
black slaves were called smoked Irish (Greely, 1981). This shows that the Irish were not held very
highly in the eyes of Americans. But the British and even their countrymen had their own
prejudices against the Irish. Ireland is very Catholic. It was brought up as a country on Catholicism
and the Catholic Church had a very powerful influence in Southern Ireland. But the north was
protestant. And the Catholics in Ireland blamed the North for everything that went bad and made
sure they raised all of their children devout Catholics so that the Protestants couldn t get them and
condemn their souls to hell. When Franks Mother Angela went to go beg for furniture for her

Reaction Paper Of Love And Dust
Reaction paper of Of love and dust
While I was reading the Of love and dust, I was astonished by the use of silent between white and
black, between black and black, and between black and church. And that remind me of Cash s
description of the relation between white and black in his The Mind of the South. Cash declared:
The relationship between two groups [black and white] was, by the second generation at least,
nothing less than organic. Negro entered into white man as profoundly as white man entered into
Negro (Cash 49 50). The novel is an example to Cash s study about the social interaction between
black people and white people in the South. Also his argues that the black of the South does not
rebel for being inferior. They accept the bossy treatment of the white for them; they obey them
and never rebel for the abuse white master had for them. They believe it s the way that god want
them to be and only way to survive. In the story, Pauline is a black slave who is moved from
working in the field for Bonbon to become his maid at home. Although Pauline does not like
Bonbon, yet she agrees to work in his house. Furthermore, she accepts his affair with her, and they
end up with having twin sons. Bonbon does not agree to have his illegitimate twin son under his
name. They call them by the mother s family name. Even though, Pauline accepts the relation with
Bonbon for long time without having feeling toward him, yet she ends up loving him after long
period.

Tattoos In Western Culture
Tattoos in Western Culture The art of tattooing has changed in modern times quite drastically. It is
slowly becoming more acceptable to own and display tattoos on one s body. In more conservative
times, those with tattoos were looked on as social outcast, turned down for jobs and seen as strange
outsiders. However, within the past half century, tattoos have steadily become more acceptable.
Millions of people in America now proudly tattoo their skin, with everything from religious
symbols to naked women. There is a whole industry based around tattoos, tattoo care, and basically
everything tattoo. There are now expensive clothing lines that base their imagery on tattoo art, such
as the Ed Hardy brand (no matter how stupid the clothes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With that high of a percentage, the popularity of memorial tattoos obviously has a direct impact
on the overall popularity and acceptance of tattoos in general. All of these are possible reasons
as to why tattoos have become more popular in recent years. However, the most likely reason for
the spike in popularity is not one, but all of these reasons. They all increase the number of people
willing to go out and get tattoos, and all of them are responsible for making tattoos more
acceptable by society. The rise in popularity has created a community for those associated with the
art form. There are conventions, shows, magazines, and websites dedicated solely to the art of
tattooing. Not only is there a community for those who adorn tattoos, but that community is
broken up into different classes. There are three separate sub classes of this tattoo community. The
first is the biker/working class. These people are often poorer and have cheaper tattoos. They are
looked down upon by the highest class as being losers and outsiders, and the high class in the tattoo
community feels no connection with them. The next class is the young punks. This young class is
obviously made up of young members, a lot of them involved in some other sub culture, music,
MMA fighting, etc. There is some overlap between this class and the other classes, since some of
them are richer and some are poorer. At the

The Berlin Blockade Is The First Major International...
The Berlin Blockade is said to be the first major international crises of the Cold War. The basis of
this blockade was to cut of Western Allies railway, road, and canal access to the eastern side of the
city. The Soviets proposed an offer to the west, in which they would drop the blockade, if newly
introduced Deutschmark currency was withdrawn from West Berlin. But seeing as though if they
did agree, the German society would only crumble even further, so the westerners rejected the
offer. The idea of the an airlift came to mind of the western allies, as they wanted aid Berlin
citizens and abolish the Soviet authority. This idea was inspired by the World War II American
airlift from India, over the Himalayas, to China The Hump , to resupply the Chinese war effort.
Planning and investigating were soon done by the three nations in an attempt to figure out and
carry out a large scale solution.
On November 30th, 1945, it was announced that there would be 23 mile wide air corridors
providing passage to Berlin. Since the use of unarmed aircraft would be the transport method, the
Soviets could not accuse that the cargo aircraft were a military threat, like if they were tanks or
trucks. Being faced with non lethal aircraft refusing to turn around, the only way to keep the
blockade impassable would be to shoot them down. The Soviets were forcibly put in a position of
either shooting down unarmed humanitarian aircraft, which in turn would break their own
agreements, or back down

Colonialism and Post Colonial Ethnic Conflict in East...
From the end of the nineteenth century until the attainment of independence in the early 1960s, the
countries of East Africa were under the colonial administration of European empires. After decades
of foreign rule which saw unparalleled transformations within society, the post colonial states that
emerged have been blighted by ethnic conflict. It has been argued that the beliefs of British,
Belgian and German administrators led them to completely reorganise the societies they governed
based on a fictitious tribal model, and in the process they invented ethnicity. There is a great deal
of debate on this matter, though, and its continued relevance to contemporary politics only makes it
more vigorous. Before we go on to analyse to what... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Curtis Keim has pointed out, though, for Africans it is most often used in a very similar way to
that in which Europeans use ethnic group . Therefore, when we use ethnicity this will be, for some
people, synonymous with tribe ; however, it is best to avoid the latter and any accompanying
connotations of primitivism and backwardness, so that it is clear along what lines we are talking.
Carola Lentz may well have described ethnicity as the joker card , a word that can be introduced at
any stage in the game, replacing potentially more problematic phrases and assuming the
characteristics we require of it, but its introduction is made with the best intentions; in order that
we may see ethnicity as a broad and evolving concept that can indeed mean many things
simultaneously. Sir Donald Cameron began his post as the British governor of Tanganyika in early
1925. Charged with organising the colony s administration, he made the following statement in July
that year: It is our duty to do everything in our power to develop the native on lines which will not
westernise him... We must not destroy... the African atmosphere, the African mind, the whole
foundation of his race, and we shall certainly do this if we sweep away all his tribal organisations.
Cameron s views undoubtedly reflected those of much of the British colonial administration in East
Africa,

  • 2. Dukes Talent Identification Program Gullen Essay Children are natural learners using curiosity as an engine for their studies. Imagine what we are capable as students if we are allowed to study what we love and enjoy? Education in underdeveloped countries has attracted significant attention in recent years from educational policy makers around the world. It is considered a key social factor for economic prosperity as well as social progress in the fields of gender and racial equality. The Millennium Development Goals and Targets put Achieve universal primary educationas Goal number two. The United Nations established Unesco (United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization) and the Heavily indebted poor country initiative (HIPC) to help developing countries improve their educational programs. A total of 653 million dollars where spent in the year 2012 2013 to help low and middle income countries improve their educational programs. However, while education coverage has increased over time, Bolivia still faces considerable challenges for its education system to improve. Universal coverage remains a challenge especially among disadvantaged groups. We desperately require the help of nonprofit organizations to help with our educational reform. Bolivia s National Educational System is composed of a formal and a non formal sector. The non formal system covers adult and special education. Formal education is divided into four cycles: initial, primary, secondary, and University. As recent as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Western Operas Depict Inaccurate Facts about the Orients In this essay, I am going to discuss and make a stand that western operas depict inaccurate facts about the orients. In order to substantiate my stand, I will also look into some of the western operas that are based on the orient. There are many definitions of Orientalism. Some examples are as followed. According to the oxforddictionaries.com, Orientalism is Style, artifacts, or traits considered characteristic of the peoples and cultures of Asia. (Oxford University Press 2014) Edwards Said, author of the book Orientalism defines Orientalism as a corporate institution for dealing with the Orient , dealing with it by making statements about it, authorizing views of it, describing it, by teaching it, settling it, ruling over it: in short, Orientalism as a Western style for dominating, restructuring, and having authority over the Orient. (Locke 1993, under Reflections on Orientalism in Opera) From the definitions available, it can concluded that the word orient in the term of Orientalism is referring to either the Islamic Middle East (e.g. North Africa, Turkey, Arabia, Persia), or East and South Asia (the Far East , e.g. India, Indochina, China, Japan). Orientalism has been part of western arts for a long time. Orientalism in Music occurred since the late Renaissance. This can be seen by a widely performed dance during that period, called the Moresca, which was associated with the Moors of North Africa and was often performed with dark skin makeup and with ... • 4. Modernism In Waiting For Godot INTRODUCTION The modern era in literature occupied the late years of nineteenth and early years of twentieth century. The period was marked by a strong and intentional break with tradition. This break includes a strong reaction against established religious, traditional, political, and social views. It was an influential period that shaped the development of western civilization throughout the twentieth century. A thorough analysis of modern philosophy, culture, and art reveals the mindset of modernity and how the historical events of the era influenced life during the early 1900s. This period influenced a lot of literary figures in twentieth century, which is displayed by them through their works. The poets especially, were largely expressive... In the play, there is no orderly sequence of events taking place like, the tree which was barren one day is covered with leaves the next, the two of them return to the same place every day to wait for Godot but don t remember exactly what happened the day before. Night falls instantly, and Godot never comes. Even the tone of the play is also dull. Vladimir and Estragon is shown with only one purpose in the play i.e. to meet Godot, however their only purpose is also left unfulfilled in the end, hence resulting in ultimate hopelessness, uncertainty and vagueness in their lives. They are left to lead a meaningless life with no purpose to fulfil. Thus there are a lot of instances and elements that contributes to the fact that vagueness in life is majorly depicted in the play, either through actions or dialogues or events, ... • 5. The Brotherhood of Corps The Brotherhood of the Corps On November 10th 1775 in a small tavern just outside of Philadelphia, PA called Tunn Tavern a family was started. America, a fledgling nation at the time was in need of an elite, fast moving, amphibious military, one that could be useful in sea to land assaults. The Marine Corps was born, and recruiting for this newfound, elite force began. The Army was for the average man, it was thought of as the branch who would enlist any and all. The Marine Corps operates on a different principle, one that is bold, yet refreshing; Maybe you can be one of us . I became part of this family at a young age; I was taken under a wing and developed as a human, and as a man. It became part of me, it embedded itself into my... Most people of my generation tend not to take much pride in something they do which is sad. The Marine Corps teaches you to bust your balls and then take great pride in what you ve done. Let it be known that YOU did this, or YOU were a part of this, you get a sense of accomplishment from that. Most people look at the Marine Corps and see the news where Marines are slamming pins into each other s chests like brutal savages and are reluctant to think Marines are hardworking, dedicated people striving to maintain their spot at the top. I have heard several different opinions about the Marine Corps which are not true, but I simply compare that to someone who is on the outside looking in through a foggy window and may think they see something they don t. I take great pride in the fact I am putting myself through college on my own, while also paying my own rent, car payments, and bills. How many of my peers are at the same level of life that I am? Being a Marine is something to be very proud of, it s an extremely tough lifestyle but also very rewarding as described best by the quote I found in a book on the Marine Corps. The mental and moral qualities of the United States Marine have been tested constantly since the birth of the nation. All through the long history of the Marine Corps there are examples, both in war and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Kant And Morality When talking about whether or not consequences of an act have anything to do with morality, one must think of all the ways in which an individual s acts could be considered morally wrong. Morality relates to conduct, whereas they both involve some type of action that is partaken by the individual, which can be mistaken as being good even though the consequences are considered bad (Dewey, 1891).When a person performs an action, and the outcome of that action is a negative one, we often find ourselves blaming anything other than the individual themselves because we believe they had no foresight on what was going to happen. Dewey describes that when conduct and character are involved in telling if somebody is being moral, or immoral, we are unable to say whether or not the action was good or bad until we know how that action turns out and we know what the consequences are. Duties and laws apply to an individual and their morality. Kant states that morality cannot be based on man, we cannot base morality on experiences because morality is unconditioned. (Kant, 1998). Metaphysical philosophy is pure, much as morality is unconditioned and pure. Metaphysics applies to our efforts of understanding the world around us, it is independent from all experiences and knowledge and applies to all, much as morality applies to all. Metaphysics cannot be compared to the empirical because the empirical is based on our experiences, it is completely individual and therefore cannot be applied to all morality. These machines can malfunction at any time or misfire causing havoc in towns but does their accomplishments outweigh their failures? Are drones a necessary evil or invasion of liberty and privacy? The drones topic is one of the most debated about topics in the world right now . Drones are used by the government in war, by Amazon to deliver packages but when they government uses them, they use drones in war instead of the military jets. They are also used to monitor cites and towns in America which made people feel like their space is being invaded. we don t want the government hovering over our cities and towns 24/7 and tracking everywhere that everyone goes (source A). • 10. Daniel H. Pink s Theory Regardless of where I go, that one urge to develop myself will always be there. Motivation for me has been somewhat of a simple term until I discovered the different types. I feel as though I have a fair amount of control regarding my future career because I can t take some classes just yet without getting into other classes. I have not very much control over if the class gets full or is not a good time to take or even require some prerequisites. The two motivations that have been discussed in the book Drive by Daniel H. Pink, come from inside and outside. As I already know that some of our motivationis going based off of our instincts as humans and other parts of motivation come from a reward or a punishment, but there has been a third type discovered that has explained the reason for wanting to grow as a person and it is known as motivation 3.0. I agree that motivation 1.0 and 2.0 are useful to an extent because of my experience with both types working then at some point being limited or losing motivation confirms it. Sugar maple trees are tapped for their sap, which is reduced to make maple syrup and reduced even further to make maple sugar. Maple trees are native to Asia but can also be found in Europe, Africa and North America. There are about 128 species of maple tree. The wood from maple trees is classified as a hardwood, which means that it is dense and relatively dry when compared to the wood from softwoods. Which foods work best with the maple wood chip flavor? Maple wood s sweetness is thought to be best for pork and poultry and will pair well with their flavors. This is because those meats are milder and maple wood enhances their flavors without canceling them out the way a stronger tasting wood might. • 12. Arguments For Vaccines The opposition to vaccinations is a well known phenomenon that dates back to the Victorian age when it was self limited by the awareness of the importance to be protected against fearsome infectious diseases such as smallpox and polio. These positive effects of the vaccination campaigns have blurred out, if not erased, the memory of the tragic consequences of the past s widespread diseases, leading people to underestimate the severity of the harm that vaccinations prevent. Vaccines represent one of the most important aspects of pediatric preventive care. However, parents are increasingly questioning the safety of and need for vaccines, and as a result, vaccinationrates have fallen to dangerously low levels in certain communities. Parents hesitant to vaccinate their children may seek exemptions from state vaccine mandates. Recent outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases in the United States have drawn attention to this epidemic. Vaccinations coverage may be increased by schools fully implementing State kindergarten vaccination laws, and by providers assessing children s vaccination status at every clinic visit, and administering missed vaccine doses. While vaccine acceptance remains high in general, fear of vaccines has grown dramatically in many developed countries. In some communities, this fear has led to significantly increased rates of vaccine refusal which are associated with increases in illness and death from vaccine preventable diseases, and large economic costs ... I have read about how immigrants struggle to get their education in the United States because of lack of well qualified ESL teachers, limited resources in schools for immigrants etc. The education system has been very unfair for the immigrants because very little things are done to help them be more successful in getting their education. In an article published in Harvard University journal a researcher says, Even though one out of every four children in the United States is an immigrant or the U.S. born child of immigrants, many schools are ill equipped to meet their needs, which shows how the education system has not been fair for the immigrants (Tamer). But when the parent behaves inappropriately, it creates a poor environment for the children to learn and enjoy themselves. Sideline rage with parents behaving badly at youth sports events is such an epidemic, that 76% of respondents from 60 high school athletic associations said increased spectator interference is causing many officials to quit (Associated Press, 6/3/01). The coach is usually someone with a background in sports, either a retired professional player or coach. Practices are now scheduled for twice a week and attending a weekly clinic is strongly recommended, with a strength conditioning workout schedule between practices. All of these changes mean more involvement time for the parents. Parents are now spending up ten hours a week watching their children compete with other children, and this pressure can sometimes be too much for the parent. In 2002, Thomas Junta was convicted of involuntary manslaughter after he attacked Michael Costin, who later died of his injuries. Mr. Costin was refereeing a pickup game of hockey. The fight was witnessed by a dozen children including the children of both Mr. Junta and Mr. Costin (Butterfield, 2002). While this is by far one of the worst incidents in sports rage, there are other types of behavior that can still harm our youth. Physical violence is often a rare occurrence; verbal abuse and intimidation have been seen frequently. When a parents scream at their child after practice that he/she did not run fast enough or hit hard enough, can be considered a form of verbal abuse. During the Vietnam War, many young men were forced to face a war that changed them, and not necessarily for the better. Norman Bowker, from Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried (1990), is a perfect example of the hard bitten war veteranarchetype. The effects of the Standard Oilmonopolyon the U.S., and the world, were immeasurable, and the lessons that can be learned from this incredible story are as applicable today as they were a hundred years ago (www.linfo.org, 2004). John D. Rockefeller founded the Standard Oil Trust in 1870 in Cleveland Ohio, the oil refining mecca of the time. The trust almost immediately began using a variety of cutthroat techniques to acquire or destroy competitors and thereby consolidate the oil industry. Some techniques used by Standard Oil were to temporarily undercut the prices of their competitors, creating secret deals with the railroad companies to gain a cheaper shipping rate for its oil, and acquiring a majority of the pipelines needed to transport the un refined oil to the refinery. The research was based on an online study on nurses by asking them to fill out questionnaires that would then determine how they felt about disaster situations and how best to handle them (Baack Alfred, 2013). The use of the 620 nurses was prudent as it provided a significant sample space to handle the possibility of bias. The scope of the research was however limited to the Texas state of America. This meant that the responses given represented the general feeling among southern states as Texas is among the southern part of the country. Databases are structured to facilitate the storage, retrieval, modification, and deletion of data in conjunction with various data processing operations. A database consists of a file or a set of files. The information in these files may be broken down into records, each of which consists of one or more fields. Fields are the basic units of data storage, and each field typically contains information pertaining to one aspect or attribute of the entity described by the database. Recoverability is the DBA #8217;s most important concern. Recoverability, also sometimes called disaster recovery, takes two primary forms. First the backup, then recovery tests. The backup of the database consists of data with timestamps combined with database logs to change the data to be consistent to a particular moment in time. It is possible to make a backup of the database containing only data without timestamps or logs, but the DBA must take the database offline to do such a backup. The recovery tests of the database consist of restoring the data, then applying logs against that data to bring the database backup to consistency at a particular point in time up to the last transaction in the logs. Alternatively, an offline database backup can be restored simply by placing the data in place on another copy of the database. If a DBA (or any administrator) attempts to implement a recoverability plan without the recovery tests, there is no guarantee that the backups are at all valid. In practice, in all but the most mature RDBMS packages, backups rarely are valid without extensive testing to be sure that no bugs or human error have corrupted the backups. 2.5Integrity Integrity means that the database, or the programs that create its content, embody ... • 39. Life Of Pi Animals Being stranded in the middle of the Pacific with only the company of a full grown Bengal tiger will take its toll on a person. In the book Life of Pi animals are a place of comfort and familiarity to Pi, the son of a zookeeper, who spends his whole life surrounded by them. While stranded in the middle of the ocean, he believes various animals from his family s zoo are with him on the lifeboat, and the question of if that is true is to be interpreted by the reader. The animal story is not the truth, but it is Pi s own bearable fiction, it presents the story in a way the reader can respond to and begs the question of which story they believe and which story they want to believe. His story of the animals is a different interpretation of reality, by turning his story into fiction, it becomes much easier to stomach the idea of what happened. While in the aftershock of the boat sinking, Pi asks, what of my extended family birds, beasts, and reptiles? They too have drowned. Every single thing I value in life has been destroyed (Martel 98). This is the reality, no matter which story the reader chooses to believe, Pi lost everything he loves in his life when the boat sank. Fiction is his coping mechanism, turning his story into fiction distracts from the fact that he lost everything. In the beginning it was very confusing because you have to follow along with the characters without words being said. Also, because of all the possible disorders that can be developing in the characters of the movie. It is most recognized by the main character Daniel Plainview and all the possible perspectives of interpretations (Analysis 0:20) this movie has. As I was watching this movie, this would be more of a family study as its most important theme. (Analysis 0:36) This is because it seems that Daniel is the father to all the characters and then they are in the end related to him in some way. I believe that all the characters in the movie that were introduced were there to affect Daniel in some way, be a contrast to him, or be a reflection of him. Daniel Plainview is a man who has severe trust issues and is very troubled, but he wants to have a family. His characteristics are so heavily shown though the movie that they end up being his major flaws in the movie. These flaws are the things that end up destroying his connections to his family in every aspect. Anything that was thrown at him in the movie, did not impact him enough to change who he really was. For example, his son going deaf from the oil well explosion, which was an explosion that sent H.W flying and ultimately hitting his head on the hard roof of the shack. They all increase the number of people willing to go out and get tattoos, and all of them are responsible for making tattoos more acceptable by society. The rise in popularity has created a community for those associated with the art form. There are conventions, shows, magazines, and websites dedicated solely to the art of tattooing. • 49. The Berlin Blockade Is The First Major International... The Berlin Blockade is said to be the first major international crises of the Cold War. The basis of this blockade was to cut of Western Allies railway, road, and canal access to the eastern side of the city. The Soviets proposed an offer to the west, in which they would drop the blockade, if newly introduced Deutschmark currency was withdrawn from West Berlin. But seeing as though if they did agree, the German society would only crumble even further, so the westerners rejected the offer. The idea of the an airlift came to mind of the western allies, as they wanted aid Berlin citizens and abolish the Soviet authority. This idea was inspired by the World War II American airlift from India, over the Himalayas, to China The Hump , to resupply the Chinese war effort. Planning and investigating were soon done by the three nations in an attempt to figure out and carry out a large scale solution. On November 30th, 1945, it was announced that there would be 23 mile wide air corridors providing passage to Berlin. Since the use of unarmed aircraft would be the transport method, the Soviets could not accuse that the cargo aircraft were a military threat, like if they were tanks or trucks. Being faced with non lethal aircraft refusing to turn around, the only way to keep the blockade impassable would be to shoot them down. The Soviets were forcibly put in a position of either shooting down unarmed humanitarian aircraft, which in turn would break their own agreements, or back down ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the end of the nineteenth century until the attainment of independence in the early 1960s, the countries of East Africa were under the colonial administration of European empires. After decades of foreign rule which saw unparalleled transformations within society, the post colonial states that emerged have been blighted by ethnic conflict. It has been argued that the beliefs of British, Belgian and German administrators led them to completely reorganise the societies they governed based on a fictitious tribal model, and in the process they invented ethnicity. Carola Lentz may well have described ethnicity as the joker card , a word that can be introduced at any stage in the game, replacing potentially more problematic phrases and assuming the characteristics we require of it, but its introduction is made with the best intentions; in order that we may see ethnicity as a broad and evolving concept that can indeed mean many things simultaneously.
