The Effects Of The Detroit Race Riot Of 1967
The Detroit race riot of 1967 was one the most destructive and violent riots of the 159 race riots that
occurred during the Long Hot Summer. For five straight days civilians fought the police, resulting in
43 deaths, 1,189 injuries, 7,200 arrests, and over 2,500 lootings. Fifty years later there are still visible
results of the riot, and the event remains a source of reflection for Detroit citizens. Asides from the
building damage and violence, the riots affected various aspects of Detroit s culture, including the
Motown enterprise, which was producing chart topping music that influenced listeners across the
globe. As a genre of music that was known as The Sound of Young America in the 1960s, studying the
Motown sound before and after the riots can provide insight into Detroit citizens mindset.
Between 1964 and 1967 Motown recorded sixty top fifteen pop chart hits, fourteen of which were
number ones. But Motown s success was almost unfathomable to the music industry as a record label
ran by an African American with African American musicians and producers. Berry Gordy, the
founder of Motown, managed to create black music and commercialize it directly to a white American
audience that was often times only willing to consume music that was at least covered by a white
musician. This all occurred in the wake of the British Invasion , from 1964 to 1966, where young
white Americans became drawn to male dominated guitar based groups. With Billboard s decision to

Parental Advisory Label Essay
Recorded music has been around for hundreds of years, and music in general has been around for
thousands of years, but yet we still do not have a good rating system for music. Music is not officially
rated, but given a Parental Advisory Label if the artist or record label believes the music contains any
explicit content. This label was created and adopted by the Recording Industry Association of
America(RIAA) in 1985. Even though this label has been around since 1985, it is not a good system
for rating music, and is potentially harming artists and the consumer. Parents could be misinformed
about what their children are listening to, and artists could potentially lose money due to lost potential
sales. Although the Parental Advisory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A rating system should not be optional but a necessity. All in all, due to the change in style of music
from when the Parental Advisory Label was created, music warnings should be more descriptive and a
must on all music . This is possible by creating a new rating system to replace the Parental Advisory
Label .
In addition to this, a new rating system is needed to help protect the consumer. As shown before music
has changed, and this change affects the consumer. In rap and hip hop music drug abuse is glorified
and shown as a positive thing. Children, who do not know any better, hear this music and think it is
okay to abuse drugs. But it is not okay, and this needs to be fixed. For example, researchers from the
University of California, Berkeley found that there was sixfold increase in drug references in songs
over the past two decades (Preidt 1). This proves how drug references has increased exponentially
since the Parental Advisory Label was created. Additionally, the dean of students at the School of
Public Health stated Positive portrayals of drug use have increased over time, and drug references
increased overall. This is an alarming trend, as rap artists are role models for the nation s youth,
especially in urban areas. Many of these young people are already at risk and need to get positive
messages from the media. (Herd 1). Altogether this proves that drug abuse is normalized and in some
cases even

Case Analysis:
WFNX 101.7 FM and Boston s Radio Wars
Situation Overview
WFNX was started in 1983 by The Phoenix Media/Communications Group, with the intent to appeal
to the newspaper s same audience of educated, affluent, single professionals and students seeking
different opinions from those offered by mainstream media. WFNX was a first mover in the new wave
or alternative rock music genre they offered something different and had a firm commitment to the
local music scene, and quickly became a leader in Boston s new music radio niche.
As alternative rock caught on and WFNX s competitors began to pounce on the station s previously

These strategies seem vital if WFNX hopes to take back market share and create sustainable presence
in the long term.
Lastly, it would be wise for the station to invest in market research and to continue to differentiate
themselves through strong positioning and reinforced values, but these initiatives may be better suited
for future implementation, since the station s positioning and connection with/loyalty from their
existing audience has historically been one of the station s strengths.
(See optional Appendix A with full SWOT Analysis for support)

STRENGTHS Clear positioning in the market When asked, the station was easily recalled and
recognized for their alternative music genre, despite lower ratings than competitors. Original founder
of alternative music Widely recognized as the leader in their space, awarded Alternative Station of the
Year by several trade magazines, and accredited by music industry critics. Known for being closest to
the street , WFNX claimed to be a niche marketed station that did not desire to have the mass

Augustine and Lucretius and the Dispute of Free Will
Augustine: Hello Lucretius.
Lucretius: Hello Augustine.
Augustine: What brings you to these parts?
Lucretius: I just wanted to update my findings on the philosophy of Epicureanism and also the theory
of free will.
Augustine: Free will, you say?
Lucretius: Yes free will. Do you have any idea of what free will is?
Augustine: Why yes I do, for it is a will by which we seek to live a good and upright life and to attain
unto perfect wisdom.
Lucretius: Exactly.
Augustine: Are you familiar of how one is able to attain free will Lucretius?
Lucretius: We obtain free by the collision of atoms which will then create a swerve. However it is very
important to know how the atoms move and there is a total of three movements.
Augustine: Then tell me these three different movements.
Lucretius: The three atomic motions are, downward fall of atoms, collision, and swerve.
Augustine: How are these three movements distinct from one another?
Lucretius: The downward fall of atoms just fall at a regular speed and follow within the same
direction, collision is when they become fused into the elementary building blocks which give rise to
matter and life being driven into closer union and held there by the entanglement of their
Interlocking shapes, and one of the most important motions, swerve, is the spontaneous and
infinitesimally small change of direction in the course of an atom s downward fall.

Figure 4 shows annual trends in mortality rates for hemodialysis patients, with adjustments for age,
gender, and race. Although mortality rates in the first year of dialysis therapy have clearly declined
from their peak value of 294.4 per 1000 patient years in 1987, meaningful improvements do not seem
to have accrued since 1993. In contrast, mortality rates in the second, third, fourth, and fifth years after
inception of dialysis therapy have declined progressively in successive years. These trends are
encouraging, all the more so when one considers that the expanding burden of comorbid illness in
latter day dialysis patients is not considered in the year to year comparison of mortality rates. The
failure of first year mortality rates to decline in the past decade is without a clear explanation and is a
research area that may be deserving of an enhanced priority. Similarly, it is unknown why mortality
rates have continued to decline in the face of expanding burdens of comorbidity, given that no specific
therapeutic strategies in this population have been proved to reduce mortality in large, multicenter,

Child Gestation Essay
When a mother intakes drugs during gestation, the baby is effected in all physical aspects including,
narcotic withdrawal, postnatal growth deficiency, and increase for sudden infant death syndrome
(Pregnancy Substance Abuse). As a child, there are numerous effects from a drug using mother and
not enough laws protecting the child. The United States seems to have set this astronomical issue to
the side. No one speaks of it, and no one sees it as a problem. Controversy has settled with this issue,
and it need to be a main problem in the world because babies are dying and mothers are getting away
with no punishment. Because children are severely affected when their mothers consume drugs during
gestation and because many of these children end up being supported by the public, states should
consider adopting stringent laws to protect the unborn from parental drug abuse. The effects on
children seem to be the worst part of this horrifying topic. Children are not only effected while in the
womb, but they are also affected indefinitely after they are born. In the article, A ... Show more

in which a woman can be prosecuted for using illegal drugs while pregnant. Women are offered a
choice between serving time in jail or joining a rehab program. This means that forty nine states do
not see that drug use during gestation is a crime. It is a sad situation when a child cannot be protected
because the federal law does not see such a terrible act a crime. According to the article, How States
Handle Drug Use During Pregnancy, a drug using mother from Hawaii was charged with
manslaughter of her child, but then the state took it back because the state did shield the unborn from
drug baring parents (Miranda, Dixon, and Reyes). It is sickening that a woman gets away with killing

Reading Admissions Essay
Since childhood, I have been enamored with reading. My passion for reading was passed from my
mother who has always advocated literacy to my siblings and me. During elementary school, my
teachers would send report cards with comments admonishing me for reading throughout class. A
novel would be hidden behind a textbook or in my lap, and I would sneak a glance whenever possible.
When school was dismissed, my nose would be buried inside a book. I would read anything I could
get my hands on: my brother s books, my mom s Women s Day magazines, and even the backs of
cereal boxes. I would snuggle up in blankets, grab the latest Magic Treehouse book, and plunge into
magical worlds for countless hours. Every summer break I would spend my time reading numerous
books for my library s Summer Reading Program.
My preferences changed as I grew older. By age eleven, I was reading Young Adult Fiction, which
challenged me more than children s novels. The Harry Potter, Maximum Ride, and Lord of the Rings
series enthralled me, and I waited desperately for each installment to be released. It was also during
this time that I read my family s collection of classics. The cultures and time periods in books like

They were intriguing and compelled me to read more classics. I soon fell in love with beautifully

During the years up World War II, Stalin was able to industrialize Russia and make it an economically
viable nation. The war and its aftermath, however, was a defining moment for the USSR. With the war
won, the USSR began a long and slow economic decent. The war had given USSR s economy
incentive to be innovative and therefore competitive. But by winning the war, USSR had no necessity
or desire to change fundamentally to compete in the transformed post war international context and
therefore doomed itself (23). The Soviet economy, whose industry began to stagnate and was

economy, its industrial centres, soon became outdated and inefficent.
At the same time, post war capitalism in the west was going through a period of change that would
result in great economic prosperity. Prior to WWII, capitalism, because it was seen as the cause of
evils such as WWI, imperialism, and the Great Depression, lost some of its acctractiveness. Within
this context, socialism, with its emphasis on social justice , was appealing. But after WWI, nstead of a

Chronological Resumes
Resumes are important in telling a potential employees story in a condensed version of their
educational and employment history. Employers generally prefer single page resumes; however, often
a two page resume is acceptable (Cardon, 2013). Moreover, including too much information
contributes to confusion or jumbled messages and in contrast may actually take away from the
important qualifications and abilities that are displayed. According to Cardon (2013), chronological
resumes are the most common and are preferred 75% of the time. Accordingly, chronological resumes
are designed in reverse order with the most recent work history and education listed first (Gantner,
2010). Chronological resumes are beneficial in displaying a strong work history. Consequently, these
resumes are preferred when there are no gaps in one s work history. In addition, chronological
resumes are also best in displaying a young professional s education and skills (Cardon, 2013). Key

Importance is placed on drawing attention to key skills and qualifications that an employee possesses
(Gantner, 2010). Potential employees that have gaps in their work history use functional resumes to

employment. According to Cardon (2013), professionals with more than 15 years of experience or
potential employees with little work experience benefit most by creating functional resumes.

employees with a vast amount of work experience, even individuals with key skills from school,
community, or volunteer activities may benefit from this resume

On page 3, a lilac had mated with a copper beech…malevolent ivy, always an enemy to grace, had
thrown her tendrils about the pair and made them prisoners
shows the presence of violence. These plants add to the atmosphere of gloominess and death, which
made an appropriate setting for a Gothic novel.
Moreover, Manderly appears differently after the cloud covers the moon.
(p.4) The house was a sepulcher, our fear and suffering lay buried in the ruins.
The house would then become an isolated tomb that will never be inhabited by anyone again. This
hinted a much more significant meaning under its surface beauty, which contributes to the setting of a
Gothic novel.
In addition, the library in Manderly is like a church (p.76) a room for peace, a room for meditation ,
with an ancient mossy smell, scrolled ceiling, dark panelling and heavy curtains, also giving a sense of
sacredness. (p.100) I must have lost my bearings What s more, Manderly is similar to a castle or a
maze, with many rooms and corridors, that the heroine couldn t make her way on the first day of her
arrival to Manderly. There are different verbs describing the movement to places, for example, went
up , went along , turned left , etc.. This gave a sense of mystery.
By this, the above images made Manderly an appropriate setting for a Gothic novel in spite of its
surface beauty.

The Retirement Plan For Retirement Plans
IV. DISCUSSION AND ANALYSIS
a. Retirements Benefits
Another of the concerns that Louis, Joyce, and Bryan have is they would like a retirement program
that will shelter a substantial portion of their income from taxes. Of the myriad of choices, a company
has for retirement plans, the best tax shelter for the owners is the qualified retirement plan. With the
qualified retirement plan Louis, Joyce, and Bryan would be able to eliminate any current tax hit on a
substantial portion of their income and be able to grow tax free in a trust that they manage.
Through this plan the owners would be able to make tax deductible contributions that would be based
on actuarial calculations that will fund up to 100 percent of his or her highest three years of
compensation or $205,000, whichever is lower. I.R.C. §415(b)(1). The contributions that will be made
into the fund will depend on the age of the owner, which in the case of Louis, Joyce, and Bryan would
be extremely beneficial since they are getting older and hope to retire soon.
The downside to this plan is that it will only work if everyone participates in it. Meaning that all of the
employees have to participate, which can sometimes feel like a burden on the owners. A lot of times
when companies have a lot of non owner employees, the cost of funding the plans can be prohibitive
and often times make it harder on the owners to actually have the tax shelters that they are looking for.
Because Web Master Inc., has 10 other employees

Legalizing Horse Slaughter
People are curious. Its our human nature. Have you ever been curious about the meat you eat? Where
it comes from, how it was killed, and is it safe to eat? In America we eat beef, pork, and poultry for
the average everyday consumption. What about other countries, or other parts of the world? What do
they eat? Your beloved pet, your furry companion, your best friend. Maybe your horse, perhaps. What
is this horse slaughter that people are speaking of? Should it be legal? Yes. It should be legal with
limits. It is most likely that anyone you ask about horse slaughter will have an opinion. Some strongly
believe it is cruel, and inhumane, some believe it is for a good cause, or helping the world. Others just
don t know their facts, or don t care either way. Horse slaughter is the practice of killing and
butchering horses for human consumption or animal foods manufacturing ( Jeras, 1).
A question often thought about is whether or not horse slaughter is humane. If you ask many people,
they will say no. Why isn t it humane?
Here is a couple of things to know. Usually the conditions are unsanitary, and infected with disease.
The horses could have injuries from minor to major from the ride to the slaughter house, or from
entering the slaughter house. The horses could even have had injuries or health issues before loading
into the trailer to begin with. It is definitely questionable as to whether anyone checks up on updated

How Technology Affects the Business Environment
During the last century, the world has been through a technological revolution. We have in few years
moved from being a world where it could take months to receive a message, to being a world where it
takes microseconds. Within most industries, technology is a very important factor to succeed.
Especially in certain industries, like energy, transport and financial services, technological innovations
have been vital to make those industries develop into what they are today. Companies are always
struggling to acquire better technology, so that they in a more efficient way can produce their products
or carry out their services. It is therefore important for companies to keep an eye on new technological
innovations. The technological elements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An article made by naturalgas states that new innovations have reshaped the industry into a
technological leader9. A report made by the U.S. Department of energy in 1999 shows that if
technology had stagnated in 1985, America would have needed twice as many wells to produce the
same amount of oil and gas. However, because of technological improvement, we only need half as
many wells to produce the same amount in 1999. In 1999, the America used 22 000 less wells to
produce the same amount as they did in 1985.
A statistical review of world energy made by BP illustrates how much oil and natural gas that has been
produced in each country and worldwide from 1965 2010. Worldwide, the total development of oil has
increased from 31,806,000 barrels daily in 1965, to 82,095,000 barrels daily in 2010. The
development of oil has increased from 96,9 billion cubic feet daily in 1970, to 309 billion cubic feet
daily in 2010. The main reason to the increase in production is off course the growing demand, but
according to naturalgas it would have been impossible without the improvement in our technology.
Consumption of oil increased from 30,783,000 daily in 1965 to 87,382,000 barrels daily in 2010 and
consumption of gas increased from 63 billion cubic feet daily in 1965 to 306,6 billion cubic feet daily
in 2010.

of traders, missionaries and ranchers to the Hawaiian Islands brought diseases to the native
population, which shrunk from 300,000 at the time of Cook s arrival to 50,000 a century later. Also,
overgrazing by imported cattle, sheep and goats did similar damage to the land of Kaho`olawe,

Analysis of the Triumph of Divine Love
The art piece that I selected for my analysis is called The Triumph of Divine Love by Peter Paul
Rubens. The artwork is an oil painting on canvas, circa 1625. This piece of art was commission by
Isabella Clara Eugenia, Infanta of Spain and Portugal. The Triumph of Divine Love was one of eleven
art pieces in a series portraying the Eucharist cycle, an important issue in the Catholic Protestant strife.
Its purpose was to aid in the Catholic Reformation and the artwork was to be displayed at the
Convento de las Descalzas Reales in Madrid. (Ringling Museum n.d.)
The scene it portrays shows a woman holding an infant while she stands on a chariot drawn by two

There are also several doves at the bottom of the painting, presumably indicating purity and perhaps
symbols of love as well. (Wall Text 2012) The focal point of the painting is the woman with infant.
This is shown by the lighting in the painting being directly on her, the bright red that she is wearing,
and the circling of the putti around her figure along with the majority of their gazes being directed at
her. The bright light directly behind her and the infant could possibly be coming from the sun behind
the clouds in the sky, the putti to her upper right holding the torch, or it could be symbolic in that it is
the infant s halo and representative of his divine nature. The overall piece is not overly dark but the
lighting seems to be most focused on the woman, infant, her other children, and the flying putti. This
is an example of tenebrism. The flying putti are shown in a ring around the woman, some holding
hands. Some have feathered wings; others have either insect or fairy like wings. They all seem to have
individual faces and expressions and all express happiness. The putti are contorted in different
positions as they fly in the air, and Rubens uses foreshortening with the limbs to achieve this and show
movement and action in the piece, especially with the two putti directly above the woman s head and
the back of their feet showing to the viewer. He also uses chiaroscuro to give the putti volume shown
by the lighting

When Britain declared war in 1917 and joined forces with the Allied powers, Canada followed suit
immediately. McCrae had seen first hand the deadly effects of war and had no illusions of what to
expect. McCrae was assigned to be surgeon to the 1st Field Artillery Brigade. He felt he was one of
the most qualified doctor soldiers in the country and felt his obligation to the country and to the
Empire. McCrae amp;#8217;s greatest test would come when his Canadian contingent were sent to the
Ypres Salient.
Up to this point the Canadians were not regarded as fighting soldiers and were thus given the
assignment of occupying this relatively quite sector of the front. The importance of Ypres would soon
be realized when on April 22, 1915 the German line used the first poisonous gas attack in war against
the Canadians and Algerians troops to gain access to the important roads that intersected in Ypres. The
Algerian troops fled leaving a gap of six kilometers along the trench system. Now the German side
had the ability to take control of the area. Somehow the gap was filled with the Canadians who even
managed to counterattack, a strategy that came as a complete surprise to the Germans. John McCrae
amp;#8217;s post was near a particularly dangerous section of the road. The Germans had it covered
with artillery fire for seventeen days of battle. McCrae would later

William Tecumseh Sherman was a great Union general fighting in the Civil War. His major feat during
the war was his campaign through the South. He started in Chattanooga, Tennessee and ended in

Southern cause by bringing the war to their front doors. This showing of how cruel the war really was
is said to have ended the war more quickly.
It all started November 23, in Chattanooga, Tennessee during the Battle of Chattanooga. Following the
Battle of Chickamauga in September of 1863, General Ulysses S. Grant focused on lifting the
Confederate siege on Chattanooga. Him and General Sherman s army attacked the Confederate troops

Music And Romantic Ballads
Friedrich Nietzsche a German philosopher once said that Without music, life would be a mistake . I
agree with that statement because music is very powerful and important in our daily lives. Just
imagine being stressed at school or maybe your crush didn t love you, listening to music can help you
ease your mind and forget about your worries. We all have certain genre of music that we enjoyed
listening to, such as Hip Hop, Classical, Pop , Country , Gospel, Ballad, etc. For me I enjoyed
listening to Romantic Ballad; a poem or song narrating a story in short stanzas, whenever I feel
distress or bitter because it helps me express my true feeling for something I am passionate towards.

I can personally relate to this song because I have been in similar situation where I have been cheated

you hear in clubs or dance to when it comes on the radio, because they are usually slow in tempo and
build towards a loud and heartwarming sing alone. It often has a refrain , a repeated section that
separates parts of the story being told in a song. Ballads are usually 13 lines and common forms are

The Tort Of Negligence Is The Most Important Area Of...
The tort of negligence is the most important area of modern tort. It is the main tort of concern to
business ventures (O Toole, 2014). Its major aim is to compensate the claimant. It is a breach of a duty
that defendant owes to the plaintiff, resulting in damage to the claimant. It is not related to a particular
act but with a way of acting and is thus harder to define. The basic elements of the tort of negligence
are a legal duty on part of the defendant towards the claimant to exercise care as falls within the scope
of a duty, breach of that duty, and consequential foreseeable damage to the claimant that can be
attributed to the defendant s conduct. Till the nineteenth century, liability in negligence exists only in

In the case of Home Office v Dorset Yacht Co (1970) Lord Reid appreciated the neighborhood test
and suggested in his Dicta to take it a step forward. This view was subsequently endorsed in Anns v
Merton London Borough Council (1978) where Lord Wilberforce proposed a two stage approach. The
large expansions in the areas of tort took place after the formulation of this test. This criterion altered
the way in which the neighborhood test was used. Previously the courts had to used it to justify new
areas of liability if there were policy reasons for excluding it. In other words, policy was now to
operate as a long stop. The general principle established in Anns came under heavy criticism both
from the judiciary and the academics. The first major criticism can be fund in the case of Governors of
the Peabody Donation Fund v Sir Lindsay Parkinson and Co Ltd. Lord Keith noted that there was a
tendency to treat the test in Anns as if it was of definitive character. A more fundamental assault was
launched on the test in the case of Yuen Kun Yeu v Attorney General of Hong Kong (1988), in which
it was held, that for the future it should be recognized that the two staged test was not to be regarded
as in all circumstances a suitable guide to the existence of a duty of care. The case of Murphy v
Brentwood District Council (1991) finally cleared the air with regard to this

When considering the proliferation of gambling advertising it is important to compare the gambling
environment established before deregulation and the extent to which it has changed post deregulation.
The problems affiliated with gambling are not a new phenomenon, as such considerable research has

promoting easily accessible helplines for those with a problem, self exclusion programs and limiting
access to gambling have met with success and led credence to the belief that gambling is no longer a
focus for criminal activity or a form of glamorous extravagance (Delfabbro, 2011). However since the

Essay On Invasive Species In Florida
There are many invasive species that populate Florida. An invasive species is defined as a plant,
animal, or fungus that has come to occupy a location aside from its native grounds. Often times,
because Florida is not their homeland, these animals play a negative part in the ecosystem. Because of
this, the citizens affected are often forced to seek means of removing these animals to eliminate their
negative effects. The Burmese Python, the Green Iguana, and the Wild Boar are just a few examples of

African Americans Equality
African Americans Equality
African Americans have flourished and more educated today. However, they had a harsh, impactful,
and meaningful history in the United States that made them become idols like for example, Martin
Luther King. African Americans were taken from Africa as slaves, and have been fighting for equality
and freedom ever since that day. African Americans had come a long way since they were forced to do
labor and unsure whether they would live or die considering they were brought over on slave ships.
The slaves were treated as nothing. They had no self esteem, and were beaten, disparage, and
separated from their family. African Americans still fight every day for different types of recognition
and fairness, even though many things changed over the centuries. The African Americans played
major roles during the Civil Rights Movement. African Americans have struggled hard to end
segregation and prejudice, and fought to be treated in a fair way.
For instance, racial separation, also known as Racial Segregation, was a system to keep white
Americans away from African Americans. It also gives African American a subservient status by
denying equal admittance to public facilities and ensuring that black people lived separately from
white people. According to Plessy v. Ferguson, The object of the [Fourteenth] Amendment was
undoubted to enforce the absolute equality of the two races before the law, but in the nature of things

whether the Sunderland was a fixture or remained a chattel, if it was a fixture then the new owner of

Nonetheless, there can be doubt casted upon the court s decision in Holland v Hodgson regarding the
looms being fixtures. This is because when using the first test Thompson proclaims that only if the
item, cannot be removed without destroying that structure... it will regarded as being part of the land ,
but was held that the looms could easily be removed without any serious damage to the flooring.
Conversely, in Chelsea Yacht and Boat Co Ltd v Pope the damage to the land was considered a
significant factor as the Court of Appeal deemed the degree of annexation of the houseboat which was
moored on the Thames to be insufficient as Tuckey LG stated: the houseboat could be moved quite
easily without injury to itself or the land. However, Berkley v Poulett undermined the importance of
the degree of annexation as Scarman LJ declared it may now prove nothing as, the second test,
purpose of the annexation takes precedence. The purpose of annexation is judged upon whether the
item has been so fixed for the better enjoyment of the object or to affecting a permanent improvement
of the freehold . Leigh v Taylor corroborates Scarman as the court held that the tapestries were chattels
as although they were affixed to the walls, the purpose of the annexation was for the tapestry to be
enjoyed as an ornament rather than to enhance the building . The case of Mew v Trismire further
strengthens Scarman s contention, as

Essay- How Computers Benefit Businesses
The business world of the 21st century is becoming more demanding and challenging as operations
grew bigger and more complex with projects that need to be done in smaller time frames. There is
very little room for even slight errors and mistakes; as such errors can cost businessmen millions of
dollars. Therefore, reliable workforces are much needed to get projects done quickly as well as
efficiently. This is why computer aided tasks are becoming an increasingly popular trend nowadays.
The first generation of computers dates back to as early as the 1940 s. The computers of that time

Errors only occur if data or instructions itself that are being keyed into the computer contains error.
This is very important for companies to avoid problems, because a slight error can be costly as
mentioned earlier. A good example is when an accountant is doing hefty financial calculations, if there
s even a slight mistake in the calculation; the whole account needs to be recalculated, which will take
a lot of time. With the help of computers, such problems do not exist.
Computers have the ability to store data in its storage media. This means previous transactions, client
database and other form of business related information can be stored electronically inside a computer
for future reference. This is very useful as it replaces the obsolete method of keeping records in files
and papers inside cabinets, in a more secure manner where these data can be protected with a
password. Not only that, computers have the ability to search for specific file, record or other form of
information using the integrated search tool. This process is much faster compared to the process of
searching for files in cabinets manually, saving invaluable time.
Modern computers are very reliable and have low failure rate. Long gone are the days of expensive
maintenance costs and unreliable computers. This is because every electronic component in the
computer system have

Spinoza s Argument for Substance Monism
Topic: Spinoza s argument for substance monism Baruch Spinoza s The Ethics addresses the nature of
God and his role in the universe, yet his dedication to supported rationality leads him to the
unconventional conclusion that God and the very substance of the universe are one and the same.
Spinoza bases his argument in deductive reasoning, which requires the establishment of premises; in
The Ethics, these premises come in the form of definitions and axioms. God in this context is simply
an absolutely infinite being; it is important to note that Spinoza does not unfoundedly argue that God
has sentience or other properties associated with humans (158). However, God indisputably has
substance, which Spinoza initially defines as something that has independent, necessary conception. A
substance has essence, which forms the fundamentals of its existence; essences are interpreted by the
intellect in the form of attributes. Modes are the ways through which an object presents itself through
being; they are the affections of a substance (158). These definitions allow Spinoza to say that his
conclusions necessarily follow from ideas which are true, making his argument supported entirely by
logic. Spinoza begins his argument with a section devoted to a core group of axioms; it is necessary
that the reader accept these as universally true principles in order for that truth to extend into the rest
of his argument. Axioms 1 and 2 state that something in existence can potentially be in

Cameras also will protect students by providing evidence if something unexpected occurs.
More and more schools are installing security cameras in halls, classrooms and buses. Administrators
say it helps protect students and staff, but some argue the practice is invasive. many students around
the world have been falsely accused of something they didn t do. All of these problems can be
eliminated with one little piece of technology hanging from the ceiling. That little piece of technology
is a surveillance camera which can be placed almost anywhere. Many schools are determining whether
or not to install security cameras in classrooms. Those who have, have seen dramatic changes in
teachers, students, and even parents. Cameras have many helpful factors. For instance, cameras can be
used to train future teachers, broadcast to students at home, and deal with bullying. Having cameras in
a classroom environment are beneficial for students, teachers, parents, and schools because they hold
teachers accountable, help students improve their behavior, and evaluate teacher and student
interactions.

Johnny Cash Research Paper
Johnny Cash, born J.R. Cash, was one of seven children born to parents Ray and Carrie Cash in
Kingsland, Arkansas on February 26, 1932. The Cash family was a farming family, hit hard by the
Depression of the 1930 s. They spent a majority of their time farming to make money, and when there
was little to no work left to be done, the family would relocate. When Cash was two, the family was
chosen by the government to move to Dyess, Arkansas to grow cotton as a part of a limited
community working towards economic recovery. The family attended the communities Baptist chapel
every Sunday, which developed Cash into an inspiring Christian. At the age of twelve, his best friend
and brother, Jack, was killed in a table saw accident while working at an agricultural shop. The death
of his brother along with all of the negativity he felt in Dyess made him search for an escape. He
began to take long walks at night while humming music, and he decided music would take him
through all of his dark places. Cash attended Dyess High School, and after graduating, he hitchhiked
to Pontiac, Michigan to take a job at an automobile constructing plant. He hated it and returned home
a few weeks later, when his family decided to pack up and leave Dyess. It was then that he decided to
enlist in the United States Air Force, and he would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The movie gave an overview of the most influential hardships and obstacles that Cash faced
throughout his life, and how he overcame them. Some of Cash s elated and uplifting life experiences
were shown during the movie, but a majority of them were unfavorable, giving Cash a poor
reputation. It s main focus was on his drug addiction: how it began, how it worsened, and how it
ended. While it was unquestionably true that Cash had a severe drug addiction, Walk the Line failed to
expose the ways in which he influenced his fans and peers in a remarkable and memorable

Mister Sparky electricians in Huntsville, AL can provide the electrical outlet and/or extra circuits you
need for holiday decorating with less extension cords. In fact, the reduced need for electricity by LED
lighting is an additional reason to change to them. You may not need additional circuits when you
change to LED lights, although chances are you can use additional outlets.
Converting Incandescent Decorations to LED
Decorations with snap in lighting can potentially be exchanged with LED light strands depending on
the number of lights required. However, if you can find the appropriate plastic fasteners for the lights
that will attach to the existing decorations, you can exchange them even when you need a 25 light
strand but only have a 50 light strand. You have the option of adding more lights where there are none
or following the same pattern by alternating the light strands.

Organization structure is the differentiation; that is the way the organisation is differentiated into tasks,

My Day at Court
My Day In A Civil Court
On February, 27, 2012 I took a trip down to the City Courthouse. After driving around looking for the
courthouse, I found a parking spot, and entered the Courthouse just after 9 a.m. Upon arriving at the
courthouse, I had no expectations, since this trip was my first visit. However, I did notice quite the
crowd entering and exiting out of the courthouse. Nonetheless, I moved on ahead and walked toward
the entrance. Once inside, I observed two security guards, and a large metal detector. The metal
detector was so sensitive that my belt buckle set off an alarm. I was asked to step to the side and
spread my arms out away from my body. One of the security officers took a black wand and waved it
past my body from head ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had also gotten into trouble financially for fraud, DUI and criminal charges including assault on
the mother. He still, however, owns a home, has a full time working live in partner, two cars, a
pension, investments, and liquidities. As for the mother side, she is making less than 25K as a FT
student and parent with one child, and works 18+ hours/week. She doesn t own her own home, but
rents and is not in debt: she cuts her own hair, and uses the bus to save, goes to no entertainment etc.,
and puts all her money toward food and housing. She s also on scholarship for school so that is paid
for. Her base of refusing is due to fear of the father abusing the child while under the influence of
alcohol. The Justice of the Peace asked for a T4 slip and took a little pause looking through their case.
She then quickly went in a peaceful resolution stating that no matter how difficult communication
levels are, the common grounds should be compromised to what s best for the child. Her majesty then
offers mediation to come up with an easier solution to which gives both parents equal rights to have a
relationship with the child. Something like supervised access. The case was postponed for another day
if mediation didn t play a positive factor in the case. Not too long after, a break was called for 15
minutes by the court clerk. These were some of the things that I experienced in court. Judging from

Southern Kingdom Causes
INTRODUCTION
The Southern Kingdom is said to have been exiled by the Babylonians. In this essay one would seek to
focus on tracing the causes that led to the exile of the Southern kingdom. But before I begin, I would
explain, first how the divided kingdom came about? Second what the Southern Kingdom here means?
Third what an exile is and what led to the causes of the exile of southern kingdom? And finally the
Conclusion.
First, the Divided Kingdom. From studies, the Old Testament and other sources have it that not long
after the reign of Saul, David, and Solomon the Kingdom of Israel was divided into two kingdoms.
Despite warnings from many prophets, both kingdoms repeatedly turn from God. The Divided
Kingdom, of the South and North, period follows the continuing story of Scripture in the books of 1
Kings (chapters 11 22) and 2 Kings. And this period is recounted in three acts: the division of the
kingdom, the resulting northern kingdom (which takes Israel ), and the resulting southern kingdom
(which takes the name Judah. ). Assyria and Babylon force the divided kingdoms into exile. Jerusalem
and the Temple are destroyed.
Second, the Southern Kingdom. The Southern Kingdom (Judah) is one of the divided kingdom after
the reign of King Solomon s United Kingdom ruled by king Rehoboam. According to J. T. Stevenson
(2000), the Southern Kingdom begins with the promise of kingship from the line of Judah, which had
a long tradition, going back all the way to the prophecy of

Research Paper On Florence In The Renaissance
Florence: Heart of the Renaissance By Yusra Farooq
During the 15th century, Florence was the home of the Renaissance and the birthplace of our modern
western world. You can enjoy much of the greatest art created, during that exciting age, today like
Michelangelo s David or Botticelli s Birth of Venus. There s also Ghiberti s glorious 3D bronze gates,
Fra Angelico s serene beauty of paintings and the Duomo that kicked off the Renaissance. After the
fall of ancient Rome, Europe wallowed in centuries of relative darkness. There was little learning,
commence, or travel. Then, in about 1400, in Florence, there was a Renaissance. This exciting rebirth
of the culture of ancient Greece and Rome swept from Florence to all across Europe. Artists
rediscovered the wonder of nature and the human body. Their art expressed the optimism and
confidence of the new age. The Western civilization made up for lost centuries with huge gains in
science, economics, and art. Florence was the center of it all and for a good reason; it was where
capitalism was replacing feudalism and being the middleman of trade between west and east, the city
had money and it knew what to do with it. Wealthy merchants and banking families, like the Medici
who ruled Florence for generations, commissioned splendid art to show their civic pride. And
Florence unleashed an explosion of innovation by recognizing and paying creative genius like no one
else.
The Renaissance was an age of humanism. A time of confidence,

Iago s Motives
In the story Othello, Iago is a very fascinating character. In many ways, he could be viewed as the
main character because of his amount of involvement in the story. His motives could be described as
being very similar to those of Charles Manson. His cunning use of words along with his ability to
relate to the other characters allow him to set up a trap for them that ultimately leads them to do evil
things. Iago is the most evil of all considerable villans because of his lack of reasoning, which makes
him an unresolvable villan.
It could be said that Iago thoroughly enjoys stirring the pot to create more drama. Iago is the villain
we love to hate; he makes the play and at the same time breaks all the characters within ... Show more

It is quite interesting how great his organsational skills are for him to be able to tell a lie and keep
everyone fighting each other, almost as if he has been preparing for this moment for a long time. He
tells Othello that Desdimona has been cheating on him with his former officer, Cassio. This
information is so intrusive into Othello s mind that it actually spurs on short episodes of epelepsy.
Othello s mind and body begin to shake at the thought of the love of his life being unfaithful to him.
Iago gets deeper and deeper into the emotions of Othello and begins insnaring Othello s mind,
blinding him from any truth while looking through the lense of such an emotional viewpoint as being

  • 2. The Effects Of The Detroit Race Riot Of 1967 The Detroit race riot of 1967 was one the most destructive and violent riots of the 159 race riots that occurred during the Long Hot Summer. For five straight days civilians fought the police, resulting in 43 deaths, 1,189 injuries, 7,200 arrests, and over 2,500 lootings. Fifty years later there are still visible results of the riot, and the event remains a source of reflection for Detroit citizens. Asides from the building damage and violence, the riots affected various aspects of Detroit s culture, including the Motown enterprise, which was producing chart topping music that influenced listeners across the globe. As a genre of music that was known as The Sound of Young America in the 1960s, studying the Motown sound before and after the riots can provide insight into Detroit citizens mindset. Between 1964 and 1967 Motown recorded sixty top fifteen pop chart hits, fourteen of which were number ones. But Motown s success was almost unfathomable to the music industry as a record label ran by an African American with African American musicians and producers. Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown, managed to create black music and commercialize it directly to a white American audience that was often times only willing to consume music that was at least covered by a white musician. This all occurred in the wake of the British Invasion , from 1964 to 1966, where young white Americans became drawn to male dominated guitar based groups. With Billboard s decision to combine ... • 3. Parental Advisory Label Essay Recorded music has been around for hundreds of years, and music in general has been around for thousands of years, but yet we still do not have a good rating system for music. Music is not officially rated, but given a Parental Advisory Label if the artist or record label believes the music contains any explicit content. This label was created and adopted by the Recording Industry Association of America(RIAA) in 1985. Even though this label has been around since 1985, it is not a good system for rating music, and is potentially harming artists and the consumer. Parents could be misinformed about what their children are listening to, and artists could potentially lose money due to lost potential sales. Although the Parental Advisory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A rating system should not be optional but a necessity. All in all, due to the change in style of music from when the Parental Advisory Label was created, music warnings should be more descriptive and a must on all music . This is possible by creating a new rating system to replace the Parental Advisory Label . In addition to this, a new rating system is needed to help protect the consumer. As shown before music has changed, and this change affects the consumer. In rap and hip hop music drug abuse is glorified and shown as a positive thing. Children, who do not know any better, hear this music and think it is okay to abuse drugs. But it is not okay, and this needs to be fixed. For example, researchers from the University of California, Berkeley found that there was sixfold increase in drug references in songs over the past two decades (Preidt 1). This proves how drug references has increased exponentially since the Parental Advisory Label was created. Additionally, the dean of students at the School of Public Health stated Positive portrayals of drug use have increased over time, and drug references increased overall. This is an alarming trend, as rap artists are role models for the nation s youth, especially in urban areas. Many of these young people are already at risk and need to get positive messages from the media. (Herd 1). Altogether this proves that drug abuse is normalized and in some cases even ... Lucretius: Yes free will. Do you have any idea of what free will is? Augustine: Why yes I do, for it is a will by which we seek to live a good and upright life and to attain unto perfect wisdom. Lucretius: Exactly. Augustine: Are you familiar of how one is able to attain free will Lucretius? Lucretius: We obtain free by the collision of atoms which will then create a swerve. However it is very important to know how the atoms move and there is a total of three movements. Augustine: Then tell me these three different movements. Lucretius: The three atomic motions are, downward fall of atoms, collision, and swerve. Augustine: How are these three movements distinct from one another? Lucretius: The downward fall of atoms just fall at a regular speed and follow within the same direction, collision is when they become fused into the elementary building blocks which give rise to matter and life being driven into closer union and held there by the entanglement of their Interlocking shapes, and one of the most important motions, swerve, is the spontaneous and infinitesimally small change of direction in the course of an atom s downward fall. Controversy has settled with this issue, and it need to be a main problem in the world because babies are dying and mothers are getting away with no punishment. During elementary school, my teachers would send report cards with comments admonishing me for reading throughout class. A novel would be hidden behind a textbook or in my lap, and I would sneak a glance whenever possible. When school was dismissed, my nose would be buried inside a book. I would read anything I could get my hands on: my brother s books, my mom s Women s Day magazines, and even the backs of cereal boxes. I would snuggle up in blankets, grab the latest Magic Treehouse book, and plunge into magical worlds for countless hours. Every summer break I would spend my time reading numerous books for my library s Summer Reading Program. My preferences changed as I grew older. By age eleven, I was reading Young Adult Fiction, which challenged me more than children s novels. • 14. The Retirement Plan For Retirement Plans IV. DISCUSSION AND ANALYSIS a. Retirements Benefits Another of the concerns that Louis, Joyce, and Bryan have is they would like a retirement program that will shelter a substantial portion of their income from taxes. Of the myriad of choices, a company has for retirement plans, the best tax shelter for the owners is the qualified retirement plan. With the qualified retirement plan Louis, Joyce, and Bryan would be able to eliminate any current tax hit on a substantial portion of their income and be able to grow tax free in a trust that they manage. Through this plan the owners would be able to make tax deductible contributions that would be based on actuarial calculations that will fund up to 100 percent of his or her highest three years of compensation or $205,000, whichever is lower. I.R.C. §415(b)(1). The contributions that will be made into the fund will depend on the age of the owner, which in the case of Louis, Joyce, and Bryan would be extremely beneficial since they are getting older and hope to retire soon. The downside to this plan is that it will only work if everyone participates in it. Meaning that all of the employees have to participate, which can sometimes feel like a burden on the owners. Your beloved pet, your furry companion, your best friend. Maybe your horse, perhaps. What is this horse slaughter that people are speaking of? Should it be legal? Yes. It should be legal with limits. It is most likely that anyone you ask about horse slaughter will have an opinion. Some strongly believe it is cruel, and inhumane, some believe it is for a good cause, or helping the world. Others just don t know their facts, or don t care either way. Horse slaughter is the practice of killing and butchering horses for human consumption or animal foods manufacturing ( Jeras, 1). A question often thought about is whether or not horse slaughter is humane. If you ask many people, they will say no. Why isn t it humane? Here is a couple of things to know. Also, overgrazing by imported cattle, sheep and goats did similar damage to the land of Kaho`olawe, stripping native vegetation and causing soil erosion and runoff, which in turn damaged the ancient fishing spots and the marine ecosystem. The day after Japan s attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, with Hawai`i still an American territory, the Navy declared martial law on Kaho`olawe in order to use the entire island for military activities. Ranchers and other residents were forced off the island for good. The cleanup was laborious it did not even begin until 1999 because of extensive problems in finding buried weapons and handling dangerous material while protecting cultural and archaeological ... • 20. Analysis of the Triumph of Divine Love The art piece that I selected for my analysis is called The Triumph of Divine Love by Peter Paul Rubens. The artwork is an oil painting on canvas, circa 1625. This piece of art was commission by Isabella Clara Eugenia, Infanta of Spain and Portugal. The Triumph of Divine Love was one of eleven art pieces in a series portraying the Eucharist cycle, an important issue in the Catholic Protestant strife. Its purpose was to aid in the Catholic Reformation and the artwork was to be displayed at the Convento de las Descalzas Reales in Madrid. (Ringling Museum n.d.) The scene it portrays shows a woman holding an infant while she stands on a chariot drawn by two lions. Surrounding her in the air and around her feet are sixteen angels or ... (Wall Text 2012) The focal point of the painting is the woman with infant. This is shown by the lighting in the painting being directly on her, the bright red that she is wearing, and the circling of the putti around her figure along with the majority of their gazes being directed at her. The bright light directly behind her and the infant could possibly be coming from the sun behind the clouds in the sky, the putti to her upper right holding the torch, or it could be symbolic in that it is the infant s halo and representative of his divine nature. The overall piece is not overly dark but the lighting seems to be most focused on the woman, infant, her other children, and the flying putti. This is an example of tenebrism. The flying putti are shown in a ring around the woman, some holding hands. Some have feathered wings; others have either insect or fairy like wings. They all seem to have individual faces and expressions and all express happiness. The putti are contorted in different positions as they fly in the air, and Rubens uses foreshortening with the limbs to achieve this and show movement and action in the piece, especially with the two putti directly above the woman s head and the back of their feet showing to the viewer. McCrae had seen first hand the deadly effects of war and had no illusions of what to expect. McCrae was assigned to be surgeon to the 1st Field Artillery Brigade. He felt he was one of the most qualified doctor soldiers in the country and felt his obligation to the country and to the Empire. McCrae amp;#8217;s greatest test would come when his Canadian contingent were sent to the Ypres Salient. Up to this point the Canadians were not regarded as fighting soldiers and were thus given the assignment of occupying this relatively quite sector of the front. The importance of Ypres would soon be realized when on April 22, 1915 the German line used the first poisonous gas attack in war against the Canadians and Algerians troops to gain access to the important roads that intersected in Ypres. The Algerian troops fled leaving a gap of six kilometers along the trench system. Now the German side had the ability to take control of the area. Its major aim is to compensate the claimant. It is a breach of a duty that defendant owes to the plaintiff, resulting in damage to the claimant. The large expansions in the areas of tort took place after the formulation of this test. This criterion altered the way in which the neighborhood test was used. Previously the courts had to used it to justify new areas of liability if there were policy reasons for excluding it. In other words, policy was now to operate as a long stop. African Americans had come a long way since they were forced to do labor and unsure whether they would live or die considering they were brought over on slave ships. • 36. Spinoza s Argument for Substance Monism Topic: Spinoza s argument for substance monism Baruch Spinoza s The Ethics addresses the nature of God and his role in the universe, yet his dedication to supported rationality leads him to the unconventional conclusion that God and the very substance of the universe are one and the same. Spinoza bases his argument in deductive reasoning, which requires the establishment of premises; in The Ethics, these premises come in the form of definitions and axioms. God in this context is simply an absolutely infinite being; it is important to note that Spinoza does not unfoundedly argue that God has sentience or other properties associated with humans (158). However, God indisputably has substance, which Spinoza initially defines as something that has independent, necessary conception. A substance has essence, which forms the fundamentals of its existence; essences are interpreted by the intellect in the form of attributes. Modes are the ways through which an object presents itself through being; they are the affections of a substance (158). These definitions allow Spinoza to say that his conclusions necessarily follow from ideas which are true, making his argument supported entirely by logic. After driving around looking for the courthouse, I found a parking spot, and entered the Courthouse just after 9 a.m. Upon arriving at the courthouse, I had no expectations, since this trip was my first visit. However, I did notice quite the crowd entering and exiting out of the courthouse. Nonetheless, I moved on ahead and walked toward the entrance. Once inside, I observed two security guards, and a large metal detector. The metal detector was so sensitive that my belt buckle set off an alarm. I was asked to step to the side and spread my arms out away from my body. One of the security officers took a black wand and waved it past my body from head ... • 45. Southern Kingdom Causes INTRODUCTION The Southern Kingdom is said to have been exiled by the Babylonians. In this essay one would seek to focus on tracing the causes that led to the exile of the Southern kingdom. But before I begin, I would explain, first how the divided kingdom came about? Second what the Southern Kingdom here means? Third what an exile is and what led to the causes of the exile of southern kingdom? And finally the Conclusion. First, the Divided Kingdom. From studies, the Old Testament and other sources have it that not long after the reign of Saul, David, and Solomon the Kingdom of Israel was divided into two kingdoms. Despite warnings from many prophets, both kingdoms repeatedly turn from God. The Divided Kingdom, of the South and North, period follows the continuing story of Scripture in the books of 1 Kings (chapters 11 22) and 2 Kings. And this period is recounted in three acts: the division of the kingdom, the resulting northern kingdom (which takes Israel ), and the resulting southern kingdom (which takes the name Judah. ). Assyria and Babylon force the divided kingdoms into exile. Jerusalem and the Temple are destroyed. Second, the Southern Kingdom. The Southern Kingdom (Judah) is one of the divided kingdom after the reign of King Solomon s United Kingdom ruled by king Rehoboam. According to J. T. Stevenson (2000), the Southern Kingdom begins with the promise of kingship from the line of Judah, which had a long tradition, going back all the way to the prophecy of ... • 46. Research Paper On Florence In The Renaissance Florence: Heart of the Renaissance By Yusra Farooq During the 15th century, Florence was the home of the Renaissance and the birthplace of our modern western world. You can enjoy much of the greatest art created, during that exciting age, today like Michelangelo s David or Botticelli s Birth of Venus. There s also Ghiberti s glorious 3D bronze gates, Fra Angelico s serene beauty of paintings and the Duomo that kicked off the Renaissance. After the fall of ancient Rome, Europe wallowed in centuries of relative darkness. There was little learning, commence, or travel. Then, in about 1400, in Florence, there was a Renaissance. This exciting rebirth of the culture of ancient Greece and Rome swept from Florence to all across Europe. Artists rediscovered the wonder of nature and the human body. Their art expressed the optimism and confidence of the new age. The Western civilization made up for lost centuries with huge gains in science, economics, and art. Florence was the center of it all and for a good reason; it was where capitalism was replacing feudalism and being the middleman of trade between west and east, the city had money and it knew what to do with it. Wealthy merchants and banking families, like the Medici who ruled Florence for generations, commissioned splendid art to show their civic pride. And Florence unleashed an explosion of innovation by recognizing and paying creative genius like no one else. The Renaissance was an age of humanism. A time of confidence, ...
