Outline On Death Penalty
Controversial Topic Summaries I decided to choose the topic of the Death Penalty and forms of
Capital Punishment. My first article talks about what exactly the Death Penalty is. The official
definition of Capital Punishment is Imposition of a penalty of death by the state. The background of
the death penalty has been around since ancient times, but in the year 2004, most countries have exiled
the idea of the death penalty. As of now, 36 states have reinstated the idea of capital punishment and
the death penalty. Most capital sentences in the United States have been cause from murder cases. The
death penalty can only be given through the decision of the jury on the case and not the judge.
According to the article, there hasn t been an execution

Emotional Intelligence Of Leaders By Daniel Goleman
In Daniel Goleman s article, The emotional intelligence of leaders, he asserts that emotional
intelligence not rational intelligence is what distinguishes exceptional leaders from average leaders.
Biologically speaking, feelings and emotions developed in the limbic system before the development
of rational thought in the cerebral cortex. Emotional intelligence involves the balance and synergy
between the emotional and rational centers of the human brain. Goleman, a psychologist who has
written articles for the New York Times and has authored books and on behavioral science, establishes
five emotional intelligence competencies required for successful leaders: self awareness, emotion
management, motivation of others, empathy, and staying connected.
Self awareness is an understanding of how you feel and who you are; it involves the ability to listen to
your deepest instincts and influences your decision making. Self aware leaders are confident, decisive,
and know who they are what their strengths and weaknesses are. Emotion management is exhibiting
good self control and limiting impulsive reactions. Leaders who allow themselves to be governed by
anger, fear, anxiety, and sadness cannot provide effective, confident, authoritative leadership. Goleman
references a Stanford University study which showed that children with better impulse control, in this
case delaying gratification, outperformed their impulsive counterparts years later on the Scholastic
Aptitude Test (SAT).

Gay Marriage History
History of Gay Marriage
Today s modern debate over gay marriage has been played by politicians over the past few decades to
win and keep the majority vote. The general public is led to believe that this issue has come to light
because of modernization and changing beliefs and loosening morals when the fact is homosexuality
and gay unions can be traced back to the times of ancient Egypt. Information on gay unions is backed
up with the discovery of a pharaonic tomb with images showing their unions were recognized by their
kingdom. Mesopotamia, a region located in the area between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers,
north/northwest of the bottleneck at Baghdad in modern Iraq was known for a variety of marital
practices. Kings were often known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gay Marriage Promotes Equality and Non Discrimination in Society
Millions of same sex couples contribute to our way of life. They contribute culturally, politically,
socially, and spiritually. Legalizing same sex marriage in the United States makes a statement that all
Americans are valued and deserve equal rights, which includes the rights received in a legal marital
union. Taking this step we are supporting cultural diversity and reducing prejudice (7 Ways the U.S.A.
Benefits from the Legalization of Gay Marriage, 2013).
2. Gays as Couples and as Individuals Will Be Better Off
Studies continue to demonstrate that people who marry tend to be better off with financial and medical
health. One of the most important aspects of gay marriage is that it establishes legal rights for couples
which makes it easier for people to make social and legal commitments for one another. Most of the
rights and privileges that go with marriage are the ways spouses can support one another. Married
couples are in a better circumstance together than unmarried couples allowing the ability for those
relationships to develop stronger and deeper

What Is The Similarities Between Arrival And Space Odyssey
astronauts and disciples have nothing in common. However, it is noticeable that each group contains a
betrayer. This supports the religious analogy.
Even more religious symbols can be found. The black hole is surrounded by bright yellow light. This
light orbits the black hole along two different axes which gives it the appearance of two halos. This
gives the black hole a celestial connotation. Dr. Romilly explains that human beings cannot
understand the singularity of a black hole because it lies beyond the horizon, a place humans cannot
reach. In some religions celestial beings, like gods, dwell in heaven, a place normal humans cannot
enter.
Later Cooper enters the black hole and is transported to the Tesseract, a fifth dimensional space
appearing to him as a three dimensional one. Cooper assumes that it was created by a higher advanced
alien race. The Tesseract looks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kubrick s and Villeneuve s strength is the framing. In Space Odyssey an enormous number of scenes
that show central perspective can be seen. A very strong scene is the one in which David and Frank are
inside the space pod and talking about HAL. This shot indicates a vanishing point in the center of the
frame. Kubrick enhances the depth by dividing the frame in a foreground and background; David and
Frank are in the foreground whereas HAL is in the background (cf. Kargl 134). Kubrick often uses the
central perspective to create additional depth. Although the persons and objects that are filmed by a
camera are three dimensional the screen on which the film is shown is a flat surface. Therefore,
Kubrick uses certain perspectives to enhance the three dimensional effect. Villeneuve on the other
hand uses the perspective to guide the audience. A lot of Arrival s scenes show guiding lines that lead
to a vanishing point. Sometimes the camera pans to that vanishing point. Sometimes he guides the
audience towards the object of

The Goal Of Any Philosopher
The goal of any philosopher is to find what truth is. Truth is undeniable, and can be relied upon in any
circumstance, especially in the one thing that has real meaning life. Truth is essential to understanding
the world. All knowledge is based upon truth. The Idea of truth is first and for most a conviction of the
mind. The mind has an inclination to view something to be true, false; we are convicted to believe one
or the other. For example, if one were holding a model car that appears to be red, you can be
convinced it is red; you can also be convinced it is red, dark red, pink, or even burgundy. One s mind
can perceive the car in different ways; it is just the inclination of the mind. Another component of
truth is the property of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pragmatic theory says, roughly, that our beliefs are true if they work; or to get us what we want.
The correspondence theory, considered the most popular of all theories of truth states truth is
determined only by how accurately it corresponds to the real world. For example if someone says It is
raining the statement can only be true it is actually raining outside. The correspondence theory
assumes, then, that there is a real world whose existence does not depend on our beliefs, thoughts, or
perceptions that is, it assumes that a real world exists and has always existed where or not we have
been around to believe it, think it , or perceive it ( Velasquez 403). The correspondence theory has had
a long history since Aristotle. Aristotle approached this theory in a simpler form discussed in his study
of Metaphysics, to say of what is that is, and of what is not that is not, is true. Presumably what
Aristotle meant is that if what a statement says corresponds to the real world it is true. Closer to our
time period, Bernard Russell, modern philosopher is a model example of a correspondence theorist.
He maintains that there is a realm of facts whose existence does not corresponds to us. What is
correspondence? Correspondence makes a belief true when it correlates to a fact in the real world such
as Chicago is in Illinois; this is true because it relates to the fact Chicago

The Cons And Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Fiat Money
Fiat money is any legal currency that is not backed by a physical commodity, nor does it require a
substantial value for the material. Fiat money is referred to those currency does not use some valuable
kind as the currency standard. Fiat money does not represent the actual things and goods. Virtually, all
paper money in the world today is fiat money, along with most coin currencies. Next, as same as
money, we used today. That the government retains more and a suitable amount of the commodity,
which that is more valuable just as much as the total money amount. In the tenth century, the Song
Dynasty in China maybe is the first of fiat money. Unfortunately, fiat money is an money without any
uses, so that s means fiat money is fundamentally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, the disadvantages of fiat money are circulation of paper money is only limited to the
country that issuing it. As for international settlements, fiat money cannot be used. Therefore, the
value depends on the accidents of a limited area. Fiat money is more subject to fluctuation than that of
metallic money. As compare to the metallic money or gold, the gold is accepted internationally by all
the country. The gold is steadied by the equalizing tendencies of parts of a broad area. As a result,
metallic money or gold is better as it is accepted internationally comparing to the fiat money.
Moreover, the disadvantage of fiat money is that it has less stability of value. Fiat money has only one
usage which is namely the monetary use. The demand for money is not stable and changes all the
time. The demand for the fiat money depends on the value of the money at the time. As compare to the
metals, it has an equal and greater use in arts in which the demand is steady. The social usages of it
just changed slowly and demand it in utensils also shift very little. As a conclusion, the demand for the
metal is therefore more stabilized in wider basis compare to the demand for the fiat

inventors of our time, in his most recent futurist manifesto: The Singularity Is Near: When Humans
Transcend Biology (2005). Kurzweil estimates that machines will inevitably be able to surpass our
thinking capabilities within a few decades. Kurzweil s speculative reasoning has been heavily debated

between our brains and computers that makes Kurzweil s predictions improbable. The purpose of this

New revolutionary technologies are emerging fast to address this issue of increased electrical power
generation and storage needs. An example is teams of MIT scientists that have created a synthetic, self
assembling chloroplast that can be break and reassemble repeatedly, a self restoring solar cell. (Dillow,
2010). Another example is a company called Bloom Energy, which is producing tiny fuel cell boxes
called Bloom Boxes. Two of these can power an average U.S. home. Each device is about the size of a
standard brick. Although they need to be surrounded by a larger unit that takes in an energy source,
they are still about the size of a refrigerator. This alternative is already being tested by companies such
as Google and eBay (Siegler, 2010). One striking feature of brain tissue is its compactness. The
memory capacity in this small volume is potentially immense. For computer capacity, to begin to
approach that of a human brain, as we get closer to the physical limits of silicon and other materials
used in current computing components like computer chips and memory; manufacturers would
possibly need to experiment with other production techniques and materials. As humans have evolved,
we have developed the ability to make fast inferences in very complex situations. We can make logical
approximations and find good enough solutions. This type of decision making will undoubtedly be
hard to match but there are already robots

Essay on Deforestation
Deforestation is a major global problem with serious consequences to the planet. These consequences
have a negative effect on the climate, biodiversity, the atmosphere and threatens the cultural and
physical survival of life. Deforestation is the permanent destruction of indigenous forests and
woodlands. It has resulted in the reduction of indigenous forests to four fifths of their pre agricultural
area, so that now indigenous forests cover only 21% of the earth s land surface. The world Resources
Institute regards deforestation as one of the worlds most pressing land use problem. It is now so bad
that every minute an area of forest equal to 20 football fields is lost.

Logging tropical hardwoods like teak, mahogany, rosewood and other timber for furniture, building
materials, charcoal and other wood products is big business and creates big profits. Several species of
tropical hardwoods are imported by developed counties, including America, just to build coffins which
are then buried or burned. The demand, extraction and consumption of tropical hardwoods has been so
massive that some countries which have been traditional exporters of tropical hardwoods are now
importing the wood because they have already exhausted their supply by destroying their native
rainforests in slash and burn operations. It is anticipated that The Philippines, Malaysia, The Ivory
Coast, Nigeria and Thailand will all run out of rainforest hardwood for export within the next five
years.
In addition to logging for exportation, rainforest wood stays in developing countries for fuel wood and
charcoal. One single steel plant in Brazil making steel for Japanese cars needs millions of tons of
wood each year to produce charcoal that can be used in the manufacture of steel. Then there is the
paper industry. A pulpwood project in the Brazilian Amazon consists of a Japanese power plant and
pulp mill. To set up this single plant operation, 5,600 square miles of Amazon Rainforest was burned
to the ground and replanted

Pros And Cons Of Graphic Design
If you or someone close to you have ever had any interest in the graphic design field, you have
probably faced the dilemma yourself or have seen them agonize over the decision to go to college.
Graphic design is a fairly new field, but especially in the past decade the career field has gained
momentum with the increasing improvements with technology and the need for logo branding,
advertisements, and web or app platform aesthetics. Some prefer to call the degree Mass
Communications or Digital Media because of the relation with Graphic Design as designing physical
media such as magazines, while more and more of our modern media is consumed digitally. The major
is usually a new program or class and becoming a very common major, however many famous graphic
designers, such as Alexey Brodovitch or Karen X. Cheng, decided not to attend or finish college
because their portfolio was impressive and they simply did not need to, or because of the cost. While a
degree in Graphic Design is an art degree that can almost guarantee you some type of job, it is still an
art degree. With inflation and tuition costs through the sky, 50K a semester for an art degree does not
seem like highway robbery, it absolutely can be.
So let s look at the pros for attending college for graphic design. If you or that friend or acquaintance
you know is like me, then you know the stress of making a portfolio. For those who do not know what
a portfolio quite is, it is basically the art equivalent of a resume.

Reason For European Imperialism
Imperialism, a policy in which one country seeks authority over another country by economic and
political domination. The Europeans at this time in history, were looking for resources and something
to help them show their national pride; the best way to do that was to imperialize different countries.
Africa, which was not industrialized, was seen as not capable to lead themselves into modernization.
The europeans as well as many other countries began to seek land in the divided, war filled country.
The reasons for europeans seeking imperialism is because of the strive for natural resources, the need
to show national pride, and thoughts upon racism.
In imperialism, natural resources where a large driving cause to the spread of authority all ... Show

An empire such as Britain requires an imperial race (Primrose). People from all over saw how
different people and cultures came from all over the world which create hate and a variety of
disapproval for others. African people were seen as hated, uncivilized people only because, they had
so many different cultures and different ways of living. If Africa was to be industrialized before other
countries came it would have been seen as a land that is respected because the people who live in it
are capable of industrialization. But because the land was not industrialized before imperialism racism
became a strong attacking point upon the uncivilized. France went with a fully developed race into
territories marked by barbarism and people who cannot develop their own land (Merlin). France in
this description sees themselves as superior to the Africans because, they do not have fighting within
their country and they are industrialized. Without their ability to come together as a country and grow
an economy France would be another Africa. Racism drove France to come to Africa and show their
superiority over them. Racism was a large reason for imperialism.
Africa was a resource rich, divided, different country. Every country that took a part in Africa s
imperialism saw this matter and took advantage. If Africa had time to figure out how to develop an
economy, unify with each other, and industrialize itself; imperialism from other countries would

Krasner notes that by facilitating accords, international legal sovereignty offers the possibility for
rulers to secure external resources that can enhance their ability to stay in power and promote the
security, economic, and ideational interest of their constituents. (Krasner, pg 17) Interdependence
sovereignty is the ability of a state to regulate the flow of information, goods, ideas and people into
and out of its country. States try to hold on to this type of sovereignty because their ability to do this is
directly related to their ability to effectively take control and organise their own polity, which in
essence is domestic sovereignty which states must hold on to by definition i.e. in order to be a state in
the first place. We shall consider reasons which prompt states to relinquish some of their sovereignty
later in our discussion. We have thus far acknowledged, via several examples, based on the politics
involved in the process of mutual recognition of states, that the issue of international legal sovereignty
or international legal validation is a de facto versus de jure consideration. Is this, however, a trend in
the legal procedures in international relations? The law, based on our previously defined definition,
must be applicable to the actors in the community in which it is operating. If, in the realm of
international relations, the law can be voluntarily and regularly flouted by

Cause And Effects Of Smartphone Addiction
5 6 7 Introduction: The smartphone is still a fairly new invention and is constantly being developed
and improved. This device has integrated itself into our culture and is slowly becoming essential to
our lives. The younger generation known as Millennials in the age range of 18 35 years old check their
cell phones on average about 75.6 times a day (Soto et al., 2017). This number is exceptionally high
when compared to the older generation who only check their phone around 23 times a day, according
to the same research. This paper will cover cell phone addiction and its effects on the college students
lifestyle. Addiction in this case is tied with the substance use criteria in The Diagnostic and Statistical
Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5). In the criteria it states that substance use is a pathological
pattern of behaviors related to use of the substance. Extremely high smartphone use can lead to these
behaviors where dependency is an issue. Symptoms of this dependence include anxiety when away
from the device, social media addiction due to ease of access, and sedentary behaviors (Lepp et al.,
2014). This excessive use is extremely prevalent in the college scene due to how much hinges on their
devices. Social media, school, communicating and entertainment all hinge on the smartphone which in
turn promotes its use creating a cycle that leads to the addiction that most students are oblivious about.
This device has a plethora of effects that range from a decrease in quality academic performance to a
complete disatisfaction with life (Lepp et al., 2015). Can this behavior be able to be controlled or
stopped using the right interventions? The following text will explore the symptoms and effects of
high smartphone usage amongst college students, and see what intervention proves to be the most
effective in solving this social issue. 3 Biological Perspective: Cell phone use produce a lot of stimuli
for the user. Research has begun bringing this to light. There is evidence that shows the relationship
between cell phone use and your neurocognitive functions. New research has shown that Cell phone
usage may be directly linked to your dopamine levels and tamper with your reward center (La Porta et
al., 2006).

Essay on The Wrongful Conviction of Rubin (Hurricane) Carter
The Wrongful Conviction of Rubin (Hurricane) Carter
There is no doubt in the minds of many people who are familiar with the Rubin Hurricane Carter story
that he, and the man who was convicted for murder with him, John Artis, are innocent of those crimes.
While no one knows for sure who is guilty of the crime, but the one thing that is for certain is that
Carter and Artis were victims of racial bias from many people who would see them in jail. This story
is truly a tragic one of a promising career, and of a life that was spoiled by prejudice and one that
reviles some of the ways in which, society s present legal system can fail to ensure the right of justice

The Contemporary Foreign Policy Of The United States
The contemporary foreign policy of the United States represents an evolving continuum of principles,
conceptions and strategies that in part, derived from the particularistic American Cold War experience.
As such, United States foreign policy is neither a static entity, nor is its intentions or direction
uncontested. This essay will examine the underlying issues of identity and how, beginning with the
Truman Doctrine, a distinct articulation of the national interest was evinced that has defined America s
role in the world. In doing so, focus will be given to the development of alliance policy, containment
and its effect on transforming the US posture in the post Cold War international order.
Firstly, it is pertinent to reconsider the traditional narratives that underpin American identity. Inherent
in this is Manifest Destiny, which asserts that Anglo Saxon American s are God s chosen people, with
a superior culture and who are pre ordained to spread civilisation to inferior peoples (Hollander 2009,
169). This tradition offers instructive themes for the formulation of American exceptionalism and its
manifestation into a missionary foreign policy (Hoffmann 1968, 369). It also raises to the forefront the
Manichean character of American policy, its solipsism and tendency to justify geopolitical objectives
in moralistic terms (Lepgold 1995, 372). Thus, US foreign policy is a discourse for reproducing
American identity, containing threats to its core principles and legitimating

Why Is The Battle Of Vimy Ridge Significant
The Battle of Vimy Ridge Significant or not significant?
Johnathan Hua April 14 2016
The Battle of Vimy Ridge is historically significant because a vast amount of people were affected.
The battle of Vimy Ridge was a critical battle during the Allied offensive called the Arras offensive. It
was a great Allied victory. It started an unbroken chain of victories for the Canadian Corps. This essay
will be explaining why The Battle of Vimy Ridge is historically significant by having multiple
perspectives, many people affected and what long lasting consequences occurred.
The Battle of Vimy Ridge was historically significant because there were a wide range of stakeholders
that had different perspectives on Vimy Ridge. Many Canadians thought that it was a great victory for
Canada. The Germans thought of it as a draw at best for the Canadians because there wasn t a
breakthrough following the victory. Some historians thought the battle was just a myth created by
Canada because the battle occurred on Easter Monday, giving it religious significance. Historians also
believe that it was not a very significant event because no breakthrough occurred after the battle. They

Analysis Of The Movie Fried Green Tomatoes
My first impressions of the movie Fried Green Tomatoes was that it was a fluff and light movie. The
previews of the movie would lead one to believe that myself included. I was wrong. The first part of
the movie was set in 1930 s. This part of the movie addressed the issue of racism and ageism before
the time of the Civil Rights Movement. When the movie moves in to present day, the story covers the

which is a typical view of ageism and the disregard society has of the elderly. This is typical of
ageism, systemic stereotyping of and discrimination against people because they are old (Touhey,

memories (Touhey, 2016, p. 68). But as the time passes, Evelyn hears the stories of the strength of her
feminine predecessors gaining the strength to fight through the issues that plague her. Ninny gained a

other females begins to increase as they usually live longer than the men in their life. She has lived a

Pope Francis Influence On Religion
Pope Francis was influenced by the Theology of Liberation, by Gustavo Gutierrez, in his upbringing
as a priest and that has inspired him to implement those ideas in his reign as a pope in becoming a
more relatable figure of the Catholic Church for both Catholics and non Catholics.
Liberation Theology was a movement started in Latin America by a Peruvian Priest named Gustavo
Gutierrez, which supported the idea of interpreting the canon law of the Catholic Church for the
perspective of the poor. This, however, went against the top down hierarchical structure of the
Catholic Church. It was seen as a western grass roots movement to change the Church s way of
functioning and was generally ignored. Pope Francis, however, was influenced by the ... Show more

The media loves this because they now have positive things to say about the Pope and Catholic
Church that has been riddled with controversy after controversy beginning with the Vatican Leaks
scandal. The media portrays him in a very positive light due to his liberal stances on controversial
topics. However, they do not hesitate to point out that he is still indeed the Pope and the head of the
Catholic Church and that no matter how cool he may come off, he still is in charge of a strict and
regulated religious institution. In an article by Vox regarding the Pope s stance on Global warming, it
was mentioned that he was deeply critical of both our technological mindset and modernity s
utilitarian propensities. This means that even though he supports technology, he does not trust the way
that people implement it into their daily lives. In another article by Vice, they write that while the pope
may have a twitter, he has not watched television in 25 years. The media will show the pope in a
positive light saying that he is at least trying to connect with the youth, as they are our future, but the
media also tells us that we are not to be fooled. The Pope is still the head of the Catholic Church and
will maintain to preach Catholic teachings; the only difference is that he is endorsing a more liberal
approach to running the Catholic

Langston Hughes Silhouette
Many writers of the past and even today have attempted to openly talk of African American racial
biases, hatred and aggression issues. Langston Hughes was very successful in shinning the light in this
subject through his poem Silhouette which was written in 1949. Through his selective yet literal
choice of words Hughes created a powerful and haunting image of African American injustice and
atrocities.
The original context of Silhouette was an indirectly stated and strong outcry that persuaded the reader
to openly view the injustice towards blacks, in this case the event of hanging a black man. The poem
was really powerful in part because of the hostile era during the early and late 1940s where being near
white women was forbidden and for which several African Americans especially in the South were
lynched or brutally punished. This aspect grabbed the essential audience and created the perfect
atmosphere to deliver his message through the poem, because all ... Show more content on

Hughes seems to do intentionally to be sarcastic because in a respectful and pleading manner he tells
the white lady not to tempt a black man because of the outcomes. As well, do not swoon could be
interpreted in many different ways but it seems to exonerate the white gently lady from the actions
taken against this man. The poem is very straightforward, literal and bold by explicitly narrating and
portraying the hanging of a black man for the protection of a white woman. Hughes is blatant in his
imagery, they ve hung a black man/In the dark of the moon and they ve hung a black/ To a road side

The Most Popular Country Music
FAMOUS MUSICIANS AND BANDS THAT TURNED COUNTRY
Music is food to the soul
Music is the greatest communication in the world. Even if people don t really understand the language
that you re making music in, they appreciate and know good music when they hear it. Lou Rawls was
absolutely correct when he pointed this out. Regardless where and from whom it comes from, good
music is good music and anyone can appreciate that. With any genre of music, musicians aim at
stirring a mysterious feeling with their songs. They all hope for a positive reaction from their listeners
and fans. Over the years however, musicians have continued to switch from one genre to another.
Most feel that they need to unleash their full potential and be comfortable while doing it.

The Hoover Dam and Its Construction Essay
Outside of China, the United States is the most dammed country on the planet. Counting only dams
taller than fifty feet high, the U.S. has some 5,000 dams that range from giant hydroelectric dams such
as the Grand Coulee in Washington State to flood control dams in the southeast and dams that provide
water for irrigation in California. Overall the United States has as many as 2.5 million dams of one
sort or another. The design and construction of many of these dams took place between 1930 and
1975. This 45 years period is known as the golden age of dam building, starting with the construction
of the Hoover Dam beginning in 1931. By the 1970s the golden age of dam construction began to

Since the dam was located in such a remote location roads and railways had to be built to bring the
workers and materials to the site. Boulder City, a camp was also built to house the thousands of
workers. Before the construction of Hoover Dam even began Six Companies, Inc. had received over
2,400 job applications and more than 12,000 letters of inquiry from job seekers. Many men arrived
with all of their possessions and their families ready to begin a new life in the desert. Many of these
people were forced to wait and live in tent communities and shantytowns around Las Vegas. This
created very poor living conditions where more than 25 workers and family members died of heat
prostration between June and July of 1931. Fortunately the U.S. government anticipated this problem
and had already created plans to build a modern city, known as Boulder City, to house the workers and
their families near the site of Hoover Dam. To the surprise of both the government and Six
Companies, Inc. Boulder City turned into a community. Churches, a school, a newspaper, and a library
were all built in Boulder City making it a model community [iii].
Before construction of the actual dam could take place the Colorado River first had to be diverted, this
was done by tunneling four huge diversion tunnels through the bedrock of Black Canyon. These
tunnels were 56 feet in diameter, 4,000 feet long, and

Race to Equality
In 1959, 55.1% of the black population were living in poverty. (Historical Statistics of the United
States: Millennial Edition) It is known that colored people were not privileged, or even treated
respectably as human, until the civil rights movement took place. Many situations were found where
judgment among humans of a different race, other than white, were unfair. Three cases in the Supreme
Court concerning colored races were unjustly ruled during the Civil Rights movement: Swann v.

Supreme Court, the state of Virginia verdicts that a felony for a white person to intermarry with a

Essay On Salvador Dali
Unusual Salvador Dali and His Art Among the most famous men of the 20th century is artist Salvador
Dali. What made this artist stand out from the rest was not only that his art was iconic but he had a
most unusual personality, sense of fashion, trademark mustache and he was a real showman. One
tends to wonder if he was mad or just eccentric. Childhood With Dali it all probably began in his
strange childhood. Before he came into the world his parents had another child also named Salvador
Dali. Strange, isn t it? When the first Salvador was 22 months old he died of a stomach infection. Nine
month later the second Salvador was born and strangely strongly resembled his dead brother. This is
where we really step into the bizarre. His parents started to think that perhaps he was the reincarnation
of their dead son. When Dali reached the age of five his parents took him to his dead brother s grave
site for the first time and actually told him that they thought he might be the reincarnation of his dead
sibling. Of course this affected Dali psychologically and his later art work included allusions to the
dead child he actually believed was the best part of him. Personally I think ... Show more content on

It s Come A Long Way From The First Draft
This is the final draft of the essay. It s come a long way from the first draft. The details are present and
the thread is more clear. At least to me, the writer, it is. I m proud of the elements I ve chosen and of
the way I ve chosen to connect them. The use of freedom as a thread was difficult, yet the perfect
challenge I needed. I love my thread, yet I m not super confident in my imagery within the piece. I
tried to incorporate more sensual imagery, but only accomplished visual imagery, a little bit of touch
and smell. I m proud of this piece merely because I managed to connect two things I absolutely love
(nature and equine) with an issue we still face in this world, acceptance of others, ourselves and
racism. Racism was displayed in the freedom taking of another man. Never did I think I would be able
to connect these 4 completely different ideas in such a simple, yet complex way and absolutely love it.
I ve never been more excited about of a piece of writing and allowing people to read it than I am with
this piece. There are so many things I m proud of with this writing, but there are a few things I feel I m
weak in. I m not quite sure everyone will agree with my thread being present throughout my entire
essay, although I think it is, but maybe that s because I wrote. I m not quite sure if the repetition of the
words free and freedom were effective or really necessary. And the imagery as I already said. I m

The Silk Road In Han China And The Roman Republic
Throughout the lifetime of civilizations in the Ancient World, methods of creating a stable economy
were prevalent. Such method would be the integration of trade routes between societies and a strong
social class. In Han China and in the Roman Republic, the silk road was a staple in the economy of
their societies. Both of these societies established routes along the silk road to increase the wealth and
prosperity of their civilizations. However, though both of these countries utilized the trade of silk and
other goods along the silk road, they also had differences. Han dynasty China and the Roman
Republic had both utilized the silk road to trade their goods to gain prosperity and they relied on
agriculture to receive some of their goods, but differences were present in the goods that they
exchanged, such as China mainly trading silk and rice and Rome trading maining grapes, wine, and
pottery. The civilizations of Han dynasty China and the Roman republic both had a similarity in that
they utilized the silk road as a major trading route. The silk road was utilized by both of these
civilizations to receive needed resources, and exchange others. During the Han dynasty under the rule
of Emperor Wu in 138 B.C, their society was often under attack by the nomadic Xiongnu people. Due
to this, he sent his emissary Zhang Qian to request aid from distant cultures and there he found the

crucial to manage a crisis. The Nuance Group, a successful management consulting company, with a

When this kind of exaggeration was acquiesced to do by the superior who also want to gain more

After many instances of neglect by the superior, the consultant would not think his behavior was
unethical and believe it was normal. As a consequence, more and more employees chose to embellish
their biography because they believed this kind of behavior is good for the company.
Part2
The first 48 hours after the outburst of crisis is the prime time to reduce destruction of the crisis and
restore the reputation of the corporation, so when to react and how to react are crucial for crisis
communication. As for the Nuance case, the company needs to take the following steps to deal with
the crisis.
1. Establish crisis communication team and designate the leader and spokesperson
After the crisis emerged, the company needs to establish a crisis communication team first. The team
must consist of directors from various departments and high level executives, especially CEO and
crisis management experts. In this team, it is crucial to have a leader who could mobilize resources,
make a decision and be responsible for all decisions. Everyone in the team is responsible for a unique
issue.
2. Investigate the fact and make a crisis communication plan

The Content Theories Of Motivation
In organizational behavior, the content theories of motivation and process theories of motivation are
important applications to analyze specific cases. The content theories of motivation generally focus on
identifying the specific factors that motivate people. First, people are motivated by their desire to
satisfy specific needs, which are arranged in a hierarchical order. In the Nordstrom case, working at
Nordstrom is appealing to many people because of the generous compensation packages. In ERG
theory, the financial incentive is important to satisfy the employees existence needs to the extent that it
provides for their living expense. Because Nordstrom promotes a family style atmosphere within the
company, the sense of belongingness and the communication among employees provides adequate
support for the relatedness needs. Lastly, the recognition of sales achievement and potential promotion
provide the employees the highest hierarchical order of needs, the growth needs. However, under ERG
theory, the notion of prepotency is not fixed. In the case of those who leave Nordstrom, the financial
rewards do not compensate for their scarification of personal health; the communication causes
unjustifiable accusation sometimes; and the ranking of sales performance diminishes the esteem needs
of most salespersons. Therefore, while the motivational practice Nordstrom implements has led to
stunning sales records, it also causes inevitable effect on diminishing many salespersons

Why People Get Religious Tattoos
Why do people get religious tattoos?
People hold different motives as they decide to get a tattoo. And I humbly think that the issue of
religious people marking their body is too personal to be confined as right or wrong. Usually the path
they choose to follow with all the principles and beliefs it disseminates regarding the tattoos is what is
determinant, but sometimes people decide to go against the will of the Believed and leave the last
word to themselves. Nevertheless, getting a tattoo is a decision that people make pondering over many
arguments.
First of all, the idea of getting a tattoo was always counterintuitive from religious perspectives as
People with paint on their body were mostly considered disreputable and evil. But those times are far
behind and today every religion stands on its own while adjudicating on a matter of tattoos. For
instance, religious tattoos are mostly associated with Christianity and it is a common thing for its
followers to get an image of a cross or Jesus inked on their body, mainly with purpose to glorify the

What Role Did England Have Over Ireland During The Time...
What role did England have over Ireland during the time period known as the Great Famine? During
this time period millions of people died in Ireland of starvation and disease. What is still being argued
about today is who to blame for the famine; England or Ireland. By looking into the role England
played during the famine we get a closer look as to who is responsible, if anyone. What did the British
do and/or not do that made an impact on Ireland during the Potato Famine? The British policies that
implemented in the 1800s caused more destruction during the Potato Famine than the famine did
itself. In 1801 Ireland became subject to British rule after the passing of the Act of Union. While
under British rule Ireland was faced with the British Corn laws of 1815, causing them to sell most of
their corn crop to England (Stork). This went on before, and during, the famine, causing the Irish to
gain a strong dependence on the potato. Consequently, the potato became a very popular source of
food, especially for pregnant women. It helped them to gain nutrients throughout their pregnancy and
carry their children to full term. This increased the population tremendously and decreased the infant
mortality rate as well. Dwyer and Lindsay point out that [t]he fungus phytophthora infestans arrived in
Ireland in 1845 after already damaging crops in America, where it first appeared, England, and on the
Continent (188). In 1845 alone, the blight destroyed about one half of the potato crop in

Case Study On Robotics
Situation Analysis The main focus of the study is all about the use of syringe plunger hydraulics to
take effect on manoeuvring a robotic arm. Robotic arms are used in industrial robotics nowadays.
They are used to pick up and manipulate any object at a distance. Wherein it is the biggest challenge
we will encounter in this study. Robotics only managed to carry through their precision by being large,
expensive, and most likely to consume or use lots of energy and are wasted. Nothing beats hydraulic
propulsion. Using hydraulics allows the robotic arm to do refined and precise motions. With the
syringe plunger, it allows to apply pressure to the water to make each part of the material to function.

It is becoming an increasingly important problem of the industry, and it affects the society at large. In
particular, it aims to answer the following questions:
Research Questions
1.) How do hydraulics affect the weight of robotics?
2.) How do hydraulics conserve energy?
3.) How do hydraulics optimise the robotic arm s approach?
4.) How do hydraulics make robotics cheaper?
5.) How do hydraulics function well than the other alternatives in robotics?
Paradigm of the Study
Hypothesis Hydraulics affects the weight of robotics and making it lighter. It conserves energy and
that water can be found anywhere rather than using any other energy without efficiency. It makes it
easier to optimise its trajectory and it has controlled speed to operate it, wherein electricity can t much

energy which is easy to do. It functions well than other alternatives and nothing beats hydraulic

Due to everyone acting the same and not really having to think on their own, they are so adapted to the

the story is that people should think on their own and not just go with the flow similar to how
everyone else does. In Fahrenheit 451, the citizens are filled with irrelevant information just so they

  • 2. Outline On Death Penalty Controversial Topic Summaries I decided to choose the topic of the Death Penalty and forms of Capital Punishment. My first article talks about what exactly the Death Penalty is. The official definition of Capital Punishment is Imposition of a penalty of death by the state. The background of the death penalty has been around since ancient times, but in the year 2004, most countries have exiled the idea of the death penalty. As of now, 36 states have reinstated the idea of capital punishment and the death penalty. Most capital sentences in the United States have been cause from murder cases. The death penalty can only be given through the decision of the jury on the case and not the judge. According to the article, there hasn t been an execution ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Emotional Intelligence Of Leaders By Daniel Goleman In Daniel Goleman s article, The emotional intelligence of leaders, he asserts that emotional intelligence not rational intelligence is what distinguishes exceptional leaders from average leaders. Biologically speaking, feelings and emotions developed in the limbic system before the development of rational thought in the cerebral cortex. Emotional intelligence involves the balance and synergy between the emotional and rational centers of the human brain. Goleman, a psychologist who has written articles for the New York Times and has authored books and on behavioral science, establishes five emotional intelligence competencies required for successful leaders: self awareness, emotion management, motivation of others, empathy, and staying connected. Self awareness is an understanding of how you feel and who you are; it involves the ability to listen to your deepest instincts and influences your decision making. Self aware leaders are confident, decisive, and know who they are what their strengths and weaknesses are. Emotion management is exhibiting good self control and limiting impulsive reactions. Leaders who allow themselves to be governed by anger, fear, anxiety, and sadness cannot provide effective, confident, authoritative leadership. Goleman references a Stanford University study which showed that children with better impulse control, in this case delaying gratification, outperformed their impulsive counterparts years later on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). ... • 4. Gay Marriage History History of Gay Marriage Today s modern debate over gay marriage has been played by politicians over the past few decades to win and keep the majority vote. The general public is led to believe that this issue has come to light because of modernization and changing beliefs and loosening morals when the fact is homosexuality and gay unions can be traced back to the times of ancient Egypt. Information on gay unions is backed up with the discovery of a pharaonic tomb with images showing their unions were recognized by their kingdom. Mesopotamia, a region located in the area between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, north/northwest of the bottleneck at Baghdad in modern Iraq was known for a variety of marital practices. Kings were often known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gay Marriage Promotes Equality and Non Discrimination in Society Millions of same sex couples contribute to our way of life. They contribute culturally, politically, socially, and spiritually. Legalizing same sex marriage in the United States makes a statement that all Americans are valued and deserve equal rights, which includes the rights received in a legal marital union. Taking this step we are supporting cultural diversity and reducing prejudice (7 Ways the U.S.A. Benefits from the Legalization of Gay Marriage, 2013). 2. Gays as Couples and as Individuals Will Be Better Off Studies continue to demonstrate that people who marry tend to be better off with financial and medical health. One of the most important aspects of gay marriage is that it establishes legal rights for couples which makes it easier for people to make social and legal commitments for one another. Most of the rights and privileges that go with marriage are the ways spouses can support one another. Married couples are in a better circumstance together than unmarried couples allowing the ability for those relationships to develop stronger and deeper ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. What Is The Similarities Between Arrival And Space Odyssey astronauts and disciples have nothing in common. However, it is noticeable that each group contains a betrayer. This supports the religious analogy. Even more religious symbols can be found. The black hole is surrounded by bright yellow light. This light orbits the black hole along two different axes which gives it the appearance of two halos. This gives the black hole a celestial connotation. Dr. Romilly explains that human beings cannot understand the singularity of a black hole because it lies beyond the horizon, a place humans cannot reach. In some religions celestial beings, like gods, dwell in heaven, a place normal humans cannot enter. Later Cooper enters the black hole and is transported to the Tesseract, a fifth dimensional space appearing to him as a three dimensional one. Cooper assumes that it was created by a higher advanced alien race. The Tesseract looks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kubrick s and Villeneuve s strength is the framing. In Space Odyssey an enormous number of scenes that show central perspective can be seen. A very strong scene is the one in which David and Frank are inside the space pod and talking about HAL. This shot indicates a vanishing point in the center of the frame. Kubrick enhances the depth by dividing the frame in a foreground and background; David and Frank are in the foreground whereas HAL is in the background (cf. Kargl 134). Kubrick often uses the central perspective to create additional depth. Although the persons and objects that are filmed by a camera are three dimensional the screen on which the film is shown is a flat surface. Therefore, Kubrick uses certain perspectives to enhance the three dimensional effect. Villeneuve on the other hand uses the perspective to guide the audience. A lot of Arrival s scenes show guiding lines that lead to a vanishing point. Sometimes the camera pans to that vanishing point. Sometimes he guides the audience towards the object of ... • 6. The Goal Of Any Philosopher The goal of any philosopher is to find what truth is. Truth is undeniable, and can be relied upon in any circumstance, especially in the one thing that has real meaning life. Truth is essential to understanding the world. All knowledge is based upon truth. The Idea of truth is first and for most a conviction of the mind. The mind has an inclination to view something to be true, false; we are convicted to believe one or the other. For example, if one were holding a model car that appears to be red, you can be convinced it is red; you can also be convinced it is red, dark red, pink, or even burgundy. One s mind can perceive the car in different ways; it is just the inclination of the mind. Another component of truth is the property of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pragmatic theory says, roughly, that our beliefs are true if they work; or to get us what we want. The correspondence theory, considered the most popular of all theories of truth states truth is determined only by how accurately it corresponds to the real world. For example if someone says It is raining the statement can only be true it is actually raining outside. The correspondence theory assumes, then, that there is a real world whose existence does not depend on our beliefs, thoughts, or perceptions that is, it assumes that a real world exists and has always existed where or not we have been around to believe it, think it , or perceive it ( Velasquez 403). The correspondence theory has had a long history since Aristotle. Aristotle approached this theory in a simpler form discussed in his study of Metaphysics, to say of what is that is, and of what is not that is not, is true. Presumably what Aristotle meant is that if what a statement says corresponds to the real world it is true. Closer to our time period, Bernard Russell, modern philosopher is a model example of a correspondence theorist. He maintains that there is a realm of facts whose existence does not corresponds to us. What is correspondence? Correspondence makes a belief true when it correlates to a fact in the real world such as Chicago is in Illinois; this is true because it relates to the fact Chicago ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, the disadvantages of fiat money are circulation of paper money is only limited to the country that issuing it. As for international settlements, fiat money cannot be used. Therefore, the value depends on the accidents of a limited area. Fiat money is more subject to fluctuation than that of metallic money. As compare to the metallic money or gold, the gold is accepted internationally by all the country. The gold is steadied by the equalizing tendencies of parts of a broad area. As a result, metallic money or gold is better as it is accepted internationally comparing to the fiat money. Moreover, the disadvantage of fiat money is that it has less stability of value. Fiat money has only one usage which is namely the monetary use. The demand for money is not stable and changes all the time. The demand for the fiat money depends on the value of the money at the time. As compare to the metals, it has an equal and greater use in arts in which the demand is steady. The social usages of it just changed slowly and demand it in utensils also shift very little. Technological Singularity In a guest column, Computers vs. Brains on the Opinionator of The New York Times, Sandra Aamodt and Sam Wang analyzed some of the arguments by inventor Raymond Kurzweil, one of the leading inventors of our time, in his most recent futurist manifesto: The Singularity Is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology (2005). Kurzweil estimates that machines will inevitably be able to surpass our thinking capabilities within a few decades. Kurzweil s speculative reasoning has been heavily debated and challenged. New revolutionary technologies are emerging fast to address this issue of increased electrical power generation and storage needs. An example is teams of MIT scientists that have created a synthetic, self assembling chloroplast that can be break and reassemble repeatedly, a self restoring solar cell. (Dillow, 2010). Another example is a company called Bloom Energy, which is producing tiny fuel cell boxes called Bloom Boxes. Two of these can power an average U.S. home. Each device is about the size of a standard brick. Although they need to be surrounded by a larger unit that takes in an energy source, they are still about the size of a refrigerator. This alternative is already being tested by companies such as Google and eBay (Siegler, 2010). One striking feature of brain tissue is its compactness. The memory capacity in this small volume is potentially immense. For computer capacity, to begin to approach that of a human brain, as we get closer to the physical limits of silicon and other materials used in current computing components like computer chips and memory; manufacturers would possibly need to experiment with other production techniques and materials. As humans have evolved, we have developed the ability to make fast inferences in very complex situations. We can make logical approximations and find good enough solutions. This type of decision making will undoubtedly be hard to match but there are already robots ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These consequences have a negative effect on the climate, biodiversity, the atmosphere and threatens the cultural and physical survival of life. Deforestation is the permanent destruction of indigenous forests and woodlands. It has resulted in the reduction of indigenous forests to four fifths of their pre agricultural area, so that now indigenous forests cover only 21% of the earth s land surface. Logging tropical hardwoods like teak, mahogany, rosewood and other timber for furniture, building materials, charcoal and other wood products is big business and creates big profits. Several species of tropical hardwoods are imported by developed counties, including America, just to build coffins which are then buried or burned. The demand, extraction and consumption of tropical hardwoods has been so massive that some countries which have been traditional exporters of tropical hardwoods are now importing the wood because they have already exhausted their supply by destroying their native rainforests in slash and burn operations. It is anticipated that The Philippines, Malaysia, The Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Thailand will all run out of rainforest hardwood for export within the next five years. In addition to logging for exportation, rainforest wood stays in developing countries for fuel wood and charcoal. One single steel plant in Brazil making steel for Japanese cars needs millions of tons of wood each year to produce charcoal that can be used in the manufacture of steel. • 13. Pros And Cons Of Graphic Design If you or someone close to you have ever had any interest in the graphic design field, you have probably faced the dilemma yourself or have seen them agonize over the decision to go to college. Graphic design is a fairly new field, but especially in the past decade the career field has gained momentum with the increasing improvements with technology and the need for logo branding, advertisements, and web or app platform aesthetics. Some prefer to call the degree Mass Communications or Digital Media because of the relation with Graphic Design as designing physical media such as magazines, while more and more of our modern media is consumed digitally. The major is usually a new program or class and becoming a very common major, however many famous graphic designers, such as Alexey Brodovitch or Karen X. Cheng, decided not to attend or finish college because their portfolio was impressive and they simply did not need to, or because of the cost. While a degree in Graphic Design is an art degree that can almost guarantee you some type of job, it is still an art degree. With inflation and tuition costs through the sky, 50K a semester for an art degree does not seem like highway robbery, it absolutely can be. So let s look at the pros for attending college for graphic design. If you or that friend or acquaintance you know is like me, then you know the stress of making a portfolio. For those who do not know what a portfolio quite is, it is basically the art equivalent of a resume. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Europeans at this time in history, were looking for resources and something to help them show their national pride; the best way to do that was to imperialize different countries. Africa, which was not industrialized, was seen as not capable to lead themselves into modernization. The europeans as well as many other countries began to seek land in the divided, war filled country. The reasons for europeans seeking imperialism is because of the strive for natural resources, the need to show national pride, and thoughts upon racism. An empire such as Britain requires an imperial race (Primrose). People from all over saw how different people and cultures came from all over the world which create hate and a variety of disapproval for others. African people were seen as hated, uncivilized people only because, they had so many different cultures and different ways of living. If Africa was to be industrialized before other countries came it would have been seen as a land that is respected because the people who live in it are capable of industrialization. But because the land was not industrialized before imperialism racism became a strong attacking point upon the uncivilized. France went with a fully developed race into territories marked by barbarism and people who cannot develop their own land (Merlin). France in this description sees themselves as superior to the Africans because, they do not have fighting within their country and they are industrialized. Without their ability to come together as a country and grow an economy France would be another Africa. Racism drove France to come to Africa and show their superiority over them. Racism was a large reason for imperialism. Africa was a resource rich, divided, different country. Every country that took a part in Africa s imperialism saw this matter and took advantage. Krasner notes that by facilitating accords, international legal sovereignty offers the possibility for rulers to secure external resources that can enhance their ability to stay in power and promote the security, economic, and ideational interest of their constituents. (Krasner, pg 17) Interdependence sovereignty is the ability of a state to regulate the flow of information, goods, ideas and people into and out of its country. States try to hold on to this type of sovereignty because their ability to do this is directly related to their ability to effectively take control and organise their own polity, which in essence is domestic sovereignty which states must hold on to by definition i.e. in order to be a state in the first place. We shall consider reasons which prompt states to relinquish some of their sovereignty later in our discussion. We have thus far acknowledged, via several examples, based on the politics involved in the process of mutual recognition of states, that the issue of international legal sovereignty or international legal validation is a de facto versus de jure consideration. Is this, however, a trend in the legal procedures in international relations? • 16. Cause And Effects Of Smartphone Addiction 5 6 7 Introduction: The smartphone is still a fairly new invention and is constantly being developed and improved. This device has integrated itself into our culture and is slowly becoming essential to our lives. The younger generation known as Millennials in the age range of 18 35 years old check their cell phones on average about 75.6 times a day (Soto et al., 2017). This number is exceptionally high when compared to the older generation who only check their phone around 23 times a day, according to the same research. This paper will cover cell phone addiction and its effects on the college students lifestyle. Addiction in this case is tied with the substance use criteria in The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5). In the criteria it states that substance use is a pathological pattern of behaviors related to use of the substance. Extremely high smartphone use can lead to these behaviors where dependency is an issue. Symptoms of this dependence include anxiety when away from the device, social media addiction due to ease of access, and sedentary behaviors (Lepp et al., 2014). This excessive use is extremely prevalent in the college scene due to how much hinges on their devices. Social media, school, communicating and entertainment all hinge on the smartphone which in turn promotes its use creating a cycle that leads to the addiction that most students are oblivious about. This device has a plethora of effects that range from a decrease in quality academic performance to a complete disatisfaction with life (Lepp et al., 2015). Can this behavior be able to be controlled or stopped using the right interventions? The following text will explore the symptoms and effects of high smartphone usage amongst college students, and see what intervention proves to be the most effective in solving this social issue. 3 Biological Perspective: Cell phone use produce a lot of stimuli for the user. Research has begun bringing this to light. There is evidence that shows the relationship between cell phone use and your neurocognitive functions. • 19. The Contemporary Foreign Policy Of The United States The contemporary foreign policy of the United States represents an evolving continuum of principles, conceptions and strategies that in part, derived from the particularistic American Cold War experience. As such, United States foreign policy is neither a static entity, nor is its intentions or direction uncontested. This essay will examine the underlying issues of identity and how, beginning with the Truman Doctrine, a distinct articulation of the national interest was evinced that has defined America s role in the world. In doing so, focus will be given to the development of alliance policy, containment and its effect on transforming the US posture in the post Cold War international order. Firstly, it is pertinent to reconsider the traditional narratives that underpin American identity. Inherent in this is Manifest Destiny, which asserts that Anglo Saxon American s are God s chosen people, with a superior culture and who are pre ordained to spread civilisation to inferior peoples (Hollander 2009, 169). This tradition offers instructive themes for the formulation of American exceptionalism and its manifestation into a missionary foreign policy (Hoffmann 1968, 369). It also raises to the forefront the Manichean character of American policy, its solipsism and tendency to justify geopolitical objectives in moralistic terms (Lepgold 1995, 372). Thus, US foreign policy is a discourse for reproducing American identity, containing threats to its core principles and legitimating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Langston Hughes was very successful in shinning the light in this subject through his poem Silhouette which was written in 1949. Through his selective yet literal choice of words Hughes created a powerful and haunting image of African American injustice and atrocities. The original context of Silhouette was an indirectly stated and strong outcry that persuaded the reader to openly view the injustice towards blacks, in this case the event of hanging a black man. The poem was really powerful in part because of the hostile era during the early and late 1940s where being near white women was forbidden and for which several African Americans especially in the South were lynched or brutally punished. I love my thread, yet I m not super confident in my imagery within the piece. I tried to incorporate more sensual imagery, but only accomplished visual imagery, a little bit of touch and smell. I m proud of this piece merely because I managed to connect two things I absolutely love (nature and equine) with an issue we still face in this world, acceptance of others, ourselves and racism. Racism was displayed in the freedom taking of another man. Never did I think I would be able to connect these 4 completely different ideas in such a simple, yet complex way and absolutely love it. I ve never been more excited about of a piece of writing and allowing people to read it than I am with this piece. There are so many things I m proud of with this writing, but there are a few things I feel I m weak in. I m not quite sure everyone will agree with my thread being present throughout my entire essay, although I think it is, but maybe that s because I wrote. I m not quite sure if the repetition of the words free and freedom were effective or really necessary. And the imagery as I already said. I m lacking the sense of taste as how do I represent taste with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both of these societies established routes along the silk road to increase the wealth and prosperity of their civilizations. However, though both of these countries utilized the trade of silk and other goods along the silk road, they also had differences. Han dynasty China and the Roman Republic had both utilized the silk road to trade their goods to gain prosperity and they relied on agriculture to receive some of their goods, but differences were present in the goods that they exchanged, such as China mainly trading silk and rice and Rome trading maining grapes, wine, and pottery. The civilizations of Han dynasty China and the Roman republic both had a similarity in that they utilized the silk road as a major trading route. The silk road was utilized by both of these civilizations to receive needed resources, and exchange others. • 32. The Content Theories Of Motivation In organizational behavior, the content theories of motivation and process theories of motivation are important applications to analyze specific cases. The content theories of motivation generally focus on identifying the specific factors that motivate people. First, people are motivated by their desire to satisfy specific needs, which are arranged in a hierarchical order. In the Nordstrom case, working at Nordstrom is appealing to many people because of the generous compensation packages. In ERG theory, the financial incentive is important to satisfy the employees existence needs to the extent that it provides for their living expense. Because Nordstrom promotes a family style atmosphere within the company, the sense of belongingness and the communication among employees provides adequate support for the relatedness needs. Lastly, the recognition of sales achievement and potential promotion provide the employees the highest hierarchical order of needs, the growth needs. However, under ERG theory, the notion of prepotency is not fixed. In the case of those who leave Nordstrom, the financial rewards do not compensate for their scarification of personal health; the communication causes unjustifiable accusation sometimes; and the ranking of sales performance diminishes the esteem needs of most salespersons. Therefore, while the motivational practice Nordstrom implements has led to stunning sales records, it also causes inevitable effect on diminishing many salespersons ... And I humbly think that the issue of religious people marking their body is too personal to be confined as right or wrong. Usually the path they choose to follow with all the principles and beliefs it disseminates regarding the tattoos is what is determinant, but sometimes people decide to go against the will of the Believed and leave the last word to themselves. Nevertheless, getting a tattoo is a decision that people make pondering over many arguments. First of all, the idea of getting a tattoo was always counterintuitive from religious perspectives as People with paint on their body were mostly considered disreputable and evil. But those times are far behind and today every religion stands on its own while adjudicating on a matter of tattoos. For instance, religious tattoos are mostly associated with Christianity and it is a common thing for its followers to get an image of a cross or Jesus inked on their body, mainly with purpose to glorify the God and express their strong beliefs through something permanent. • 34. What Role Did England Have Over Ireland During The Time... What role did England have over Ireland during the time period known as the Great Famine? During this time period millions of people died in Ireland of starvation and disease. What is still being argued about today is who to blame for the famine; England or Ireland. By looking into the role England played during the famine we get a closer look as to who is responsible, if anyone. What did the British do and/or not do that made an impact on Ireland during the Potato Famine? The British policies that implemented in the 1800s caused more destruction during the Potato Famine than the famine did itself. In 1801 Ireland became subject to British rule after the passing of the Act of Union. While under British rule Ireland was faced with the British Corn laws of 1815, causing them to sell most of their corn crop to England (Stork). This went on before, and during, the famine, causing the Irish to gain a strong dependence on the potato. Consequently, the potato became a very popular source of food, especially for pregnant women. It helped them to gain nutrients throughout their pregnancy and carry their children to full term. This increased the population tremendously and decreased the infant mortality rate as well. Dwyer and Lindsay point out that [t]he fungus phytophthora infestans arrived in Ireland in 1845 after already damaging crops in America, where it first appeared, England, and on the Continent (188). In 1845 alone, the blight destroyed about one half of the potato crop in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Case Study On Robotics Situation Analysis The main focus of the study is all about the use of syringe plunger hydraulics to take effect on manoeuvring a robotic arm. Robotic arms are used in industrial robotics nowadays. They are used to pick up and manipulate any object at a distance. Wherein it is the biggest challenge we will encounter in this study. Robotics only managed to carry through their precision by being large, expensive, and most likely to consume or use lots of energy and are wasted. Nothing beats hydraulic propulsion. Using hydraulics allows the robotic arm to do refined and precise motions. With the syringe plunger, it allows to apply pressure to the water to make each part of the material to function. Wherein ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is becoming an increasingly important problem of the industry, and it affects the society at large. In particular, it aims to answer the following questions: Research Questions 1.) How do hydraulics affect the weight of robotics? 2.) How do hydraulics conserve energy? 3.) How do hydraulics optimise the robotic arm s approach? 4.) How do hydraulics make robotics cheaper? 5.) How do hydraulics function well than the other alternatives in robotics? Paradigm of the Study Hypothesis Hydraulics affects the weight of robotics and making it lighter. It conserves energy and that water can be found anywhere rather than using any other energy without efficiency. It makes it easier to optimise its trajectory and it has controlled speed to operate it, wherein electricity can t much have the motion to operate it precisely. Due to everyone acting the same and not really having to think on their own, they are so adapted to the theory books are evil and that it is wrong to own them. I think Bradbury s overall message throughout the story is that people should think on their own and not just go with the flow similar to how everyone else does. In Fahrenheit 451, the citizens are filled with irrelevant information just so they wouldn t have to think on their own, and possibly offend other people with their thoughts and the government is intolerant, or not tolerant of views and/or beliefs of people.
