Fixing Oklahoma s Education System
Fixing Oklahoma Education In taking a brief look at the Oklahoma education system, one need
not look far before issues of significant underfunding and understaffing come directly into view.
Many different proposals regarding what Oklahoma needs to do to resolve this problem have been
suggested in the past, but very few of these proposals outline an answer regarding how these fixes
will be implemented. How Oklahoma s educational system can increase the effectiveness of its
limited funding is something that can be addressed with simple cost effective steps and strategies
that have proven their effectiveness in other states. Additionally, the issue of understaffing can be
looked at from a fresh perspective in order to understand what the Oklahoma education system can
do to bring in new teachers and keep these teachers. Finally, in joining with national level
movements and interest groups such as the National Education Association which can help with
budgetary issues and Teach for America which can help to bring in new, trained and enthusiastic
teachers into areas of Oklahoma that have seen poor performance from students in the past.
Funding for Oklahoma schools has fallen dramatically in recent years, with Oklahoma spending
$706 less per student in inflation adjusted dollars that it did in 2008, and Oklahomans are worried
about it, and rightly so (Gene, 1). In looking toward a quick fix, many have argued that Oklahoma
need only reduce its administrative costs, thus

Essay About Area 51
According to the article, What Do You Know about Area 51? , several people argued that they
witness some paranormal activities in Area 51. Area 51 is a facility located in Nevada for
developing aviation technology. There is no proof explaining why the paranormal happenings are
coming from there. Nevertheless, the witnesses claim that these happenings are all related to the
aliens. Additionally, they assume the high government officials would have communicated with the
aliens in Area 51. The evidences are unidentified flying objects that they witnessed; however, the
flying objects have not been identified. Although their evidence has not been proven, people still
believe that there are paranormal happenings of aliens. The facility s high security... Show more

The evidence of the claims is not credible is the first point that the article violets from the
Baloney Detection Kit. The believers were not skeptical about their claims and they did not try
to figure out if their claims were scientifically proven. They just argue that the unidentified flying
objects they witnessed are a piece of valid evidence for their claims. Moreover, the flying objects,
or what they claimed as their evidences, have not been identified yet. The article does not state
where they got the sources of people who saw specious activities happening in Area 51. An
unverified claim is also infringing one of Shermer s ten Baloney Detection Kit questions, since
their claims have not yet been confirmed by anyone else. In addition, the believers violated the
rules of science. The rules of science include observe, predict, test, interpret, and communicate. They
first observed the flying objects around the facility. Then, the believers started to predict their
hypothesis that there were aliens in Area 51. However, they did not test or exam their hypothesis to
identify the objects. Also, they should have gathered data and analyzed them to verify their claims.
Lastly, they have not published their study for peer review. Instead, the believers just rumored
around. Therefore, this article has not used any of the scientific methods to prove their

The Rise Of The Scientific Revolution
The Scientific Revolution made a greater impact on western history then the Enlightenment because
of two main reasons, the printing press and the scientific method. First off, the printing press
changed society in many ways, from the enlightenment to present day. The printing press spread
around the new beliefs and ideas of the enlightenment, for example, many books like Dialogue
Concerning the Two Chief World Systems , Starry Messenger , and On the Revolutions of the
Heavenly Bodies became accessible due to the invention of the press. These ideas became known
to many, and people started to think for their own and create their own beliefs, with logic and doubt
to ancient ideas such as church teachings. To further prove the impact of

Symbolism In Harry Potter And The Sorcerer s Stone
Symbolism throughout J.K Rowling s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone
Many have read novels, and it take a select few to truly comprehend what the author intends. Only
a few understand the underlying meaning of the author using specific skills such as symbolism.
In Harry Potter and The Sorcerer s Stone there are many ways symbolism is used, even the
smallest things are noticed. Rowling makes you really analyze the text to dig out your own
interpretation. J.K. Rowling uses brilliant literary techniques to create symbolism in Harry Potter
and The Sorcerer s Stone. Rowling used 3 crucial pieces in the novel for the reader to read in
between the lines to grasp the entire concept. She incorporates Harry s Scar, Quidditch, and The
Mirror of Erased to create an indirect subliminal message to the readers. ... Show more content on

Harry from proclaiming him as the chosen one to showing that he is indeed marked by the Dark

past from losing his parents, and living with his uncle. It can also represent the constant bullying
he endured coming from Dudley. Great yet humble Harry struggled with facing the glory and

Risk Of Skin Cancer In Tanning Beds
Sharon Miller is the author of this article and is part of FDA. In this article she discusses how
each type of uv rays damage the skin and which uv ray is used in tanning beds. This is relevant
to my topic because it demonstrates the risk of skin cancer. Many people think tanning gives
them a ВЁhealthyВЁ glow, but in reality a tan is a sign on skin damage. UV B rays burn the top
layer of skin resulting in a sunburn in most cases. UV A rays burn into a deeper layer of the skin
causing a rash to appear. Tanning beds emit UV B rays and UV A rays, which is why you tend to
get a sunburn before turning dark. The UV B rays cause your body to emit more melanin, which is
a pigment that darkens the skin. This is why we get tan in the summer whether it

Compare And Contrast Sigmund Adud And Alfred Adler
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to discuss how theories created by Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler are
similar but also different. Both these theories discuss ideas involving one s personality and mental
health. Sigmund Freud focused on the stages of personality and the human mind while, Alfred Adler
s theory focused on the individual as a whole. The theories were different, but were also alike in that
they focused on sexuality in the human influenced the mind.
Compare and Contrast: Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler
Sigmund Freud and Alfred Adler are well known and respected men in the world of psychology.
Both their theories involved the study of the human mind. Freud believed that much of the human
instinct was sexually based and that many problems they suffered were due to this instinct. Freud
concluded that his patients memories reached back to childhood and that many of the repressed
experiences they recalled concerned sexual issues. Adler believed there was more to the individual
but also knew that biology had an influence. He also believed that one s birth order and socially
affected the development of the human personality.
Sigmund Freud is known as the father or the founder of psychoanalysis because he concluded that
psychological problems goes back to sexual issues. Freud was influenced by the works of
psychologists such as Charles Darwin and Ernst Brucke, but Freud s teacher Jean Martin Charcot,
was the one that influenced him the most. Charcot

American Teenagers Are Even More Stress Than Adults Essay
What Stress? Stress is a very common thing that is experienced both throughout high school and
in the real world. In fact, according to the article, American Teens Are Even More Stressed than
Adults , it was found that Millennials aged 18 33 were the country s most stressed generation.
Many other articles also state that stress is mostly experienced by teenagers because they usually
don t have the experience to juggle so many responsibilities that are presented to them. While the
word stress many brings many teenagers into fear, there are two types of stress: good stress and
bad stress. Good stress can push you forward to finish an assignment, or ask that girl or boy out in
your science class. Bad stress, on the other hand can cause others to partake in unhealthy habits and
can even affect both their physical and mental health. If you have a friend that would benefit from

Getting Rested: If you do have a lack of sleep, it would be wise to start sleeping earlier than you
have been. It is recommended by the Mayo Clinic that teens get 8 to 10 hours of sleep a day;
there is not much to it, just sleep more. Exercise: While many despise the word exercise, it is
always good to exercise. You could start by taking walks in the morning, taking part in a sport,
or even start going to a gym. Not only will this break your lack of exercise, but also is another
way of reducing stress. Eating a Healthy Diet: Eating healthy is another key step to getting rid of
unhealthy eating habits. You could start off by reducing consumption of soft drinks such as Coke
or Pepsi. Additionally, you can refrain from eating late at night, include more fruits and vegetables
in your diet, or even just eat less. If you do wish to eat less, make sure you never skip meals as
that is unhealthy and defeats the purpose of a healthy

Essay about The Pros and Cons of Imperialism
Throughout history, many powerful nations interfered with nations that were weaker than they
were. This form of sabotaging a nation is economic, political or cultural life is called as
imperialism. Imperialism is often separated into two sects. The first one is old imperialism, which
was the period from the 1500s to the 1800s, where European nation started to colonize many areas
such as the Americas, and parts of Southeast Asia. On the other hand, the new imperialismwas the
period between the years 1870 1914 , where Europebecame more focused on expanding their land
into Asia and Africa. Imperialism had many pros and cons. In addition, it also had many causes led
by the feeling of nationalism. Several significant causes led to the... Show more content on

Their business interests demand that colonial markets should be opened and developed and that
foreign competitors should be shut out. Such aims require political control and imperialism. By
Parker T. Moore, Imperialism and world politics, 1926.Politics and the military also had
significance in causing new imperialism. One example is that when a nation had many colonies it
believed it would be more powerful and secure. The second example is nationalism, which was a
motive for achieving a goal for a nation. Last cause was the poem The White Man s Burden , which
was written by Rudyard Kipling, to justify imperialism. Imperialism had several diverse impacts on
Asia, Africa, and Europe. The pros about imperialism, was that new roads and railroads that were
built connected many parts of India. The introduction of the telegraph and postal systems united
many people. Discovering new agricultural methods improved farming in the west and in Africa
and Asia. Schools that were built by the British educated many people. Human rights were
recognized, by ending customs that threatened many humans. On the other hand, the cons of
imperialism were what benefited Europeans and infuriated the Asians, and Africans. Many
individuals and groups resisted imperial rule. European tried many ways to westernize the subject
people s cultures. Many of the resources that were manufactured profited the Europeans rather than
the Indians. A cash crop economy was established

Summary Of New Imperialism
Summary of Day 1
In the late 1800 s the U.S. decided they wanted to get rid of isolationist ideas and become a
stronger respected world power. This was referred to as New Imperialism which meant
expansion over the sea. This was good for trade for the US because it gave a new market to sell
goods to and it meant new raw materials would be brought to the US. The US wanted to create a
stronger navy and military to help defend the US right to trade not for war that was the last thing
the US wanted. The US made treaties with politically smaller countries that would be easy to take
over. One reason why the US wanted to expand was because of economics new trade ports and
raw materials for manufactured goods and a larger group to sell too. Manifest ... Show more content

President William Taft believed the best way for the US to gain power was through Dollar
Diplomacy. This policy was for the United States to become involved with Latin America. Since
Latin America owed Europe money the US pay Latin America s loans this Made it so your would
not be involved with Latin America anymore. This means Latin America was completely reliant on
America President Taft wanted to increase Latin America s industry and increase the trade to better
the economy in Latin America this also increased business in the US. President McKinley
supported expansion by increasing trade he established the open door policy with China to increase
trade ports. President Roosevelt supported imperialism by increasing the size of the Navy to help
keep trade ports safe he also helped built the Panama canal. This helped save time with
transporting goods and military. The Roosevelt Corollary further showed imperialism working
as an extension of the Monroe Doctrine stating that the US can interfere with Latin America s
business as needed to keep the economy stable in the west hemisphere. Both Taft and Roosevelt
worked on preventing European power using debt problems of Latin America to intervene the
west hemisphere. President Woodrow Wilson did not agree with imperialism he believed in the
idea of moral diplomacy. He believed democracy was the only way to keep the nation stable. His
ideas of leading as a moral example were unsuccessful. He relied on the US military for
intervention. One example of this was the Mexican Revolution. This led to a lot of tension between
the US and

Bobby s Use Of Symbolism In The Great Gatsby
There are many different symbols that you may not see in your everyday life. A symbol is an
object that represents an idea. In the first part last, there are symbols almost everywhere in the
book. Three symbols are feathers name, the red balloon Nia gave Bobby, and lastly, Bobby s
basketball. In this story, Bobby did come of age and these symbols show how.
A symbol is an object that represents an idea. One symbol throughout the book is the red
balloon. This is a symbol because it shows that Bobby and Nia are coming of age because the
color red usually represents love and anger. Coming of age means to grow up or mature in your
life. Bobby and Nia had to mature since Nia is pregnant. On page 6, Bobby said, Then she handed
me the balloon. This is important because it shows how Nia broke the news that she was pregnant
to Bobby.
One symbol would be when Bobby forgot Feather to go play basketball. The symbol here is the
basketball. When he got home, Bobby set the basketball down and it rolled into his mothers room.
The symbol for this is that the basketball is his childhood. I think that Bobby forgot Feather
because he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One important symbol is how the title plays a part in the first chapter. Bobby says on page 4,
But I figure if the world were really right, humans would live the first part last. They d be all
knowing in the beginning in the end. This excerpt means that it would make more sense if
humans were born into this world guilty and knowing everything and left the world innocent
and with someone at their side. A baby, for example, is born not knowing anything. They always
have someone by their side and catering to their needs. However, as you exit the world, you have
no one by your side and you die knowing that you were always guilty for something. This is a
symbol because it shows how Bobby wants the world to work. This is a symbol for love since he
wants to leave the world peacefully and by someones

America s New World Beginnings
Chapter 1 New World Beginnings
The Shaping of North America
. originally Earth had only one super continent, this continent split into several smaller ones, one of
which would later be called North America
. as millions of years passed North America s geography began to change, mountain ranges sprung
up, rivers flowed across the vast land, from the Atlantic to the Pacific, the entire continent was
changing
. two million years ago an ice age swept across the world, North America was part of it, it
transformed and shaped the way North America looks today, as the glaciers began melting 10,000
years ago new lakes and rivers became present, such as the Great Lakes that still remain enormous
today
. North America was being shaped by nature, and it would remain the same for centuries
Peopling the Americas
. the first humans to come to America came by land, the ice age caused the sea level to drop,
revealing a land bridge that connected North America and Eurasia
. Asian hunters following animals were the first to step foot on the land of the vast continent
. North and South America became isolated once more as the sea level returned to normal when
the ice age passed, this denied the rest of the world entry, until much later when the Europeans
would discover the New World
. when Europeans arrived in 1492 in search of the Indies, an estimated 54 million people were
already living over the wide spread of the two continents
. during the years of isolation, many tribes

The Education System Of Ethiopia
Pastoralist Education in Ethiopia Currently:
For several years, donors have been implementing Alternative Basic Education Center s in Ethiopia
as a way to supplement the formal primary education system in the country. Currently the country
faces a number of challenges in regards to their formal primary school system including lack of
infrastructure, lack of teachers and economical constraints. Many regions in Ethiopia are hard to
reach and the provision of formal education is lacking. To supplement this lack of formal primary
schools, donors, together with governments have implemented Alternative Basic Education
Center s. These centers are set up differently than formal school as it covers the curriculum of
lower primary school, which is traditionally 4 years, and fits it all into 3 years. Upon completion
of these 3 years, it is expected that students will be prepared to move into upper primary school
(grades 5 8). This set up alleviates the problem of a lack of primary schools, and by completing the
curriculum in 3 years, it allows those children who started late to catch up. (CARE Interview)
Save the Children Denmark s Alternative Basic Education Project was implemented in the Amhara
Region of Ethiopia. While this is not a pastoralist region, it provided Save the Children and the
Ethiopian government many insights to non formal education models and many organizations
began implementing Alternative Basic Education Center s in the Afar and Somali regions

Battle Of Britain
The Battle of Britain was an extremely important piece of history that was almost completely
exclusive to air battles between the Royal Air Force and the German Luftwaffe. Luckily for Great
Britain, its air defense system was one of the most effective of its time. Luckily for Germany, the
Luftwaffe contained numbers that were far superior to Great Britain s, in terms of men and also the
amount of planes used in battle and in bombings. The Battle of Britainwas also the first big battle to
use radar on Great Britain s coast to its full potential. One of the biggest attacks planned by Hitler
was the attack on London, which ended up turning the battle in Great Britain s favor. And so the

The Luftwaffe s attacks were one hundred percent focused on their military supplies, but it all
changed when the Royal Air Force launched a retaliatory attack on Berlin, Germany. This
retaliatory attack angered Hitler to the point that he dropped the progress made on the British air
bases and changed his targets of attack to the British cities. These bombings on the British cities
later became known as the London blitz(http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/blitz.htm) and the
biggest city by far that was targeted was London herself. As the weeks went on, London
sustained more and more bombings, of course, the citizens of the British cities suffered
tremendously, being quite powerless. Though this kept taking its toll on Great Britain s citizens
the Royal Air Force had the tension of the attacks on their bases relieved and began its recovery.
The Royal Air Force had time to repair the airfields that were out of commission and severely
damaged. With these repairs completed on the air bases, the Royal Air Force was more than ready
for the next German attack. The attack fleet came soon enough and they came with around one
hundred and twenty planes. The biggest attack in the Battle of Britain so far. The Germans
obviously wanted the city of London in ruins with an attack force like that, and if they did take out

Portland Is The Largest City For A Diverse Population,...
As the original commerce center of Oregon, Portland is the largest city in the state and home to
a diverse population, culture, recreation, and history (Ash, Jylnne). It ranks 17th in terms of
population of metropolitan areas in the United States (Park, Peter ). Portland is known for its
character, as well as its environmental consciousness, top breweries, and food carts. In a 2009
Pew Research Center study, Portland ranked as the eighth most popular American city according
to where participants would choose to live (For Nearly Half of America). It has become a
popular city for millennials as well as those escaping the high cost of living in California. The
influx of people has caused home prices in Portland to skyrocket in the last quarter century.
Between 1990 and 2000, the median home prices for the area surrounding Portland increased by
114% compared to 46% nationally (Anderson, Susan).

in the 1960s when he while a Harvard University designed a trial product of an electronic
monitoring system. Even though Dr. Schweitzgebel made this invention in the 1960s; however, it
took many years to have the system been used by the departments of correction. At first, the intent
of Dr. Schweitzgebel was to allow the population of the correctional facilities to not be saturated
by many people at once and to rehabilitate those whose self esteem suffered from losing their
liberties and free will. The objectives of this system or alternative was intended to reduce the

Review of Literature:
This futuristic alternative to monitored perpetrators was first initiated in the State of Massachusetts
which in 2005 began using the full GPS bracelet (The Office of Commissioner of Probation, 2014).
Electronic monitoring provides the governments with an alternative to prevent the overcrowding of
correctional facilities within a country. At the same time it provides the governments with
additional ways to counter attack the ways the criminal justice system can deal with perpetrators
after court proceedings are completed. The idea is to work out a way to keep a given community
safely, but at the same time to give the perpetrators with an opportunity to be able to rehabilitate and
to better themselves and becoming a productive member of the community and their families.
The government states that electronic monitoring still is way inexpensive than housing a
perpetrator in a correctional facility. However, when the government takes into consideration all the
pieces involving the monitoring of a person within a jurisdiction and all the pieces needed to make
this happen then it can be quiet expensive monetarily and with safety concerns. Can the government

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (PP) rooted from traditional psychoanalysis theories. PP operates
with the basic assumption that focuses on unconscious processes that recognise how a person s
behaviour and feelings in the present are rooted from childhood experience in the past. The
objective of PP is to facilitate client to reach self awareness and to have a better understanding of
the problems by identifying where the origin of the issue as well as underlying causes that may be

Gelso Carter (1985) suggested therapeutic relationship as the feelings and attitudes that the
counselling participants have toward one another and the manner in which these are expressed .

Weaknesses Of Ir, It Is Not The Silver Bullet That Will...
Weaknesses of IR
Although there are a lot of strengths for IR, it is not the silver bullet that will completely change
accounting forever. One of the main weaknesses of IR is the expenses that come with measuring
such a comprehensive range of factors that include non monetary factors that can be hard to
actually measure (Eccles Krzus, 2010). It can be unappealing for smaller companies or
organisations to set up all of these systems in order to provide a wider perspective of their business
or organisation just to please stakeholders, when the costs will outweigh the potential profits of
attracting new investors.
Another issue would be potential information overload for less knowledgeable individuals who
will simply be overwhelmed by all the information provided by IR. There is a question of how
important is it to report more comprehensively if the end user will simply be unable to use all of
the information to their advantage, which raises another question of if it is worth reporting in an IR
format at all.
Time is also a major issue for some companies who may have less labour to spare in order to
report on what can be considered less important aspects of an organisation, especially if it is a
small to medium sized enterprise. There have been reports of some integrated reports being three
times as longer than estimated to be completed (Eccles Saltzman, 2011). It can be very hard to
justify allocating that many hours to prepare a report that some may find unnecessary or

Regulatory Information And Managing Component Level...
Regulatory information includes publishing and managing component level information within
dossier spanning all formats like electronic Common Technical Document (eCTD), Non eCTD
electronic Submissions (NeeS) and paper etc., across diverse pharmaceutical markets. It also
includes archival of data / documents with appropriate modification history for audit purposes.
Tracking of global submission status with different health authorities and managing modification in
those documents in close co ordination with local representatives are key challenges that
pharmaceutical industryis potentially facing in a regulatory information management system. The
continuous shift from paper submissions to electronic submissions (e submission) in recent years
has been accompanied by corresponding business processes modifications. For life science
pharmaceuticals, the challenge lies not only in developing an innovative drug / biological product
or medical device but in bearing the competition to pharmaceutical market. It is not enough to spend
millions and trillions in product development, it is equally critical to be the first to launch the drug

Laminar Flow and Convective Heat Transfer of Water-Alumina...
Laminar flow and convective heat transfer of water/alumina nanofluid inside horizontal annuli with
a streamwise moving inner cylinder are investigated theoretically. Employed model for alumina
/water nanofluid is the modified two component four equation non homogeneous equilibrium model
that fully accounts for the effects of nanoparticles volume fraction distribution. Aiming to consider
the effects of thermal boundary conditions on nanoparticles migration, two cases including constant
heatflux at the outer wall and insulated inner wall (Case A) and constant heat flux at the inner wall
with insulated outer wall (Case B) have been considered. The numerical results obtained indicated
that the thermal boundary conditions at the pipe walls are significantly affecting the nanoparticle
volume fraction distribution particularly in the cases where the ratio of Brownian motion to
thermophoretic diffusivities is small. Moreover, increasing the velocity of the moving inner
cylinder reduce the heat transferrate for case A. In this case nanoparticles migration has negative
effects on the performance of the heat transfer system as it decreases the heat transfer rate. In
contrast, in case B, movement of the inner cylinder enhance the heat transfer rate and anomalous
heat transfer enhancement take place when the thermophoretic force is dominant (larger
nanoparticles).
Nanoparticles volume fraction distribution developed under the mutual effects of thermophoretic
and Brownian motion forces.

An Excerpt Of Ovid s Metamorphose
This piece was inspired by an excerpt of Ovid s Metamorphoses in book number six which
describes the slaughter of Niobe s seven sons and seven daughters. Niobe was the queen of
Thebes, married to King Amphion. She lived an extreme life of luxury and often bragged about
how great her life was. One day the goddess Leto, also know was Latona, heard Niobe boasting
about how much better her life was. Niobe could not stop comparing her extreme fertility, hence
her 14 children, to Leto mere two offspring. Niobe told the people of Thebes they should be
worshiping her instead of Leto. In response, Leto s two offspring, Apollo, the god of music, and

Femininity In Tank Girl
An interesting depiction of femininity is in Jamie Hewlett s 1988 Tank Girl, where Rebecca
Buck, or Tank Girl, is presented as untraditionally feminine. Her appearance is definitely a
challenge to the typical comic book girlish look, which are usually long hair and a curvy figure.
Tank Girl instead wears outfits that are chaotic with wacky colors and symbols, all while

While cats are bred too, it isn t to the same extent as dogs and cats aren t typically bred for a
particular ability like dogs are. Taking care of a little puppy is like taking care of a new born
baby. You constantly have to watch them and know what they re doing. Unlike a cat where they
are given a toy and they will play with it for hours. Training a puppy isn t the same as training a
cat. With a new puppy you have to train them to go to the bathroom outside. Not anywhere in the
house. A puppy can only hold on an hour for every month of his or her age plus another hour. So
if a puppy is 2 months old it can only hold for three hours. The key is to prevent mistakes and
establish good habits early. Cats generally don t go outside to take care of business. Cats have a
litter box in the house. Most kittens will readily adapt to a litter box, especially if they were
raised with a mother cat. If they pee on the carpet the owner should drag them to their box and
force them to dig. But with a puppy you try to make them stop and hurry them outside. Training
a pet commands is also different. Dogs will sit, lie down, and heel on command. Cats on the
other hand will just smirk and walk away.Another difference between cats and dogs is their social
interactions. Dogs are more of pack animals. Members of their pack or family are very critical to
them. They look for a

1.Determine whether the evaluated group is a population or a sample
A.Based on a randomly selected group of 500 patients with high cholesterol, it was found that 67%
have heart disease. Is this a population or a sample; explain your answer.
Answer: The evaluated group of 500 patients within this study is considered to be a sample. The
500 patients whom possess high cholesterol are comprised of the larger group of patients of which
serve holistically as the population. The 500 patients randomly selected from the total population
with high cholesterol of which 67% were found with heart disease constitute as the sample.

Answer: Sample statistics are understood as numerical ascriptions given towards a sample of which
is determined by the consolidation or summarizing of collected data within research (Bennett,
Briggs, Triola, 2014). This definitional explanation shares that the given example is that of a sample
statistic. The example provides no understanding of a viable population of which has been studied

Proteins Of Bovine Red Blood Cell
Protein Composition in Red Blood Cells in Humans using Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis
Name: Emma Claypole

Abstract
The proteins of Bovine red blood cell (RBC) membranes were analyzed using polyacrylamide gel
electrophoresis. After analyzing Bovine RBC they were then compared to human RBC
counterpart. Following finding the log of each molecular weight of each band, band one showed
the highest molecular weight. All five bands viewed were from humans. There are typically 7
bands visible however, in our case only five were visible due to implications within the gel sample.
Introduction
Proteins are important elements in cellular membranes and give the membranes many of their
characteristics. In red blood cells, the meshwork of proteins in and around the membrane gives it
strength and flexibility, allowing a cell to squeeze through small capillaries without bursting. Other
proteins play roles in transporting material in and out of the cell (Lab Manual, Cell Biology).
Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE), with all of its different modifications is probably the
most widely utilized procedure in contemporary biochemistry and molecular biology (Mordacq and
Ellington (1994)). In this experiment, we will attempt to determine the molecular weights of the
major proteins in the plasma membranes of bovine red blood cells (RBCs). The predictions made
are if our protein has similar weights as proteins

Essay on American Songs that Record Culture and History
American Songs that Record Culture and History
As has been said many times over, songs are a reflection of society. They give insight into feelings,
moods, historical changes, and the overall atmosphere of the society. Our American society is
diverse and so too is our music. There are many genres of music and there were many evolutions to
create those genres. Further, what happens in society, the historical changes, also effect those
changes.
Sex, drugs, alcohol. They are influential substance/actions by all accounts. Love, hate, sadness,
desire, fear. They are strong emotions. In songs played on the radio there are many songs with
references to both the good and bad of the topics mentioned above. However, ... Show more content

It is safe to say that a majority of American youth find underage drinking okay. This song also
seems to say that the youth find nothing wrong with casual sex. And after listening to just one night
of the daily news, many would agree to the above ideas. Even the song Doo Wop (That Thing)
by Lauryn Hill suggests that American youth are casually having sex and immaturely doing so.
In her song she warns today s youth to be careful and not get caught up in the game. Giving it up
so easy you ain t even foolin him...Showing off your ass cause you thinking it s a trend. The lyrics
hit hard, but Lauryn Hill is giving us a glimpse into the lives of a majority of our youth. Although
we, or our children, may not be of the majority, this is the truth and it does hurt.
One day our songs will be history. One day someone will look at those lyrics I have listed above
and see references to our culture and how we lived our lives. But for today we look at yesterday
s songs and see history. We listen for hints into how people felt and what was going on. We look
for songs like Your Dog Loves My Dog sang by the Nashville Quartet. This song demonstrates
some of the frustrations of those living during the civil rights movement. Even though they lived
across the street from one another, a traditional black family never knew their traditional white
family neighbors. Not because they could not speak or could not walk over the way, but because it
was not acceptable.

Anabolic Steroid Use And Anabolic Steroids
Why do athletes get so hooked on this so called Steroid ? I m interested in this question, because
that s the question that truly caught my attention the most and, also keeps me wondering. If people
who use it have seen improvement, why do they keep using it. The anabolic steroid also known as
the anabolic androgenic steroid is a drug that athletes use to give more muscle mass to the body and
create more testosteronein the body. If traced back to the 1940 s steroids first appeared in
Germany. Athletes had begun to use this substance as early as 1950 at the olympic games during
the Cold war. Website http://Cesar.com states, From that point until the early 1970 s, steroids
became increasingly popular among not just Olympic athletes, but also professional sports players
and high school athletes (Cesar). Steroids truly have developed into something that everyone wants
to get to achieve the perfect body or create a better physique.
In the article Body Image, Disordered Eating and Anabolic Steroid Use in Female Bodybuilders by
Gary S. Goldfield, he mentions how women and men often suffer from bulimia nervosa because
of their eating habits. Especially bodybuilders, because of competing they have to look and be
lean, so they diet harshly for their body fat levels to be low and more muscle definition to be seen.
Competitive bodybuilding is a sport that requires participants to be exceptionally lean and

Wisdom In Siddhartha
As one matures through life he gets wiser and more knowledgeable. As Siddhartha s long life
journey was coming to a close, he too was becoming wiser and more knowledgeable. Siddhartha

Siddhartha s revelation between the difference of wisdom and knowledgecorresponds with his other

have never seen in any man since the recent death of our illustrious teacher (148). This shows even
though Govinda thinks Siddhartha methods are strange compared to Gautama, he believes
Siddhartha has without a doubt reached enlightenment. Siddhartha believes Gautama had only
taught Govinda to be knowledgeable, while he himself has become wise. This is because the
Illustrious one only taught Govinda how to seek which should be the destination and not what you

important belief while Gautama thought this was a great sin and when Govinda heard Siddhartha s

This new regulation in the game of baseball will minimize injuries and maximize skill levels. The
fact of the matter is that BBCOR certified aluminum bats have a smaller sweet spot region in the
barrel of the bat than BESR certified bats do (Wooden). The sweet spot is the area where if a
baseball comes in contact with it, then the trampoline effect will take major effect, causing the
ball to be hit very hard and with much force, much more than what was put into the swing
(BBCOR). The purpose of the BBCOR bats is to reduce this trampoline effect, meaning that
players will have to be stronger and more skilled in order to hit the ball with the power they
desire. According to an article on BBCOR versus BESR bats, A baseball hit by a BESR (Ball
Exit Speed Ratio) certified bat could not exceed an exit speed of 97 mph. However, this was
true for a brand new bat, for when the bat was broken into, the ball exit speed could range
anywhere from 100 to 115 mph! This is especially true in composite barreled BESR bats. These
two pieced bats, such as DeMarini Voodoos, DeMarini Vexxums, DeMarini Vendettas, or Nike
Fuses, have a top half (consisting of the barrel) that is slightly larger than the bottom half (the
handle) so that it fits over the bottom half. A new implement that BBCOR

They said that design is moving closer to the social innovation linking its characteristics at different
levels. For example, service and relationships to social needs or improving life conditions and
social situations.
In order to successfully implement the plan of design or projects of service management there has to
be efficient use of 4P s: The People, the Process, the Products and the Partners. To function the
service management, the 4P s must be overlapped to each other. There should balance between all
the 4P s to ensure safe and appropriate design. The design approach must be comprehensive,
because most of the problems faced by the organizations are focus on the functional requirements.
The design architecture should be considered from all the aspects. Therefore, there are several
design aspects, they are: Service level management, Availability management, Service catalogue
management, Security management, Capacity management, IT service continuity management.
Service Level Management:
Service level management is an important link between IT and business. Service level provides
a good foundation for good quality service, cost reduction IT services and ensuring compliance
with the service goals and customer s expectations. An effective service level system will always
ensure that the key aspects are met in time where risks is not into picture. For an effective

National Hockey Research Paper
The National Hockey League, like any other professional sports league, relies on statistics to
measure and project the success and potential of its players. The NHL has, and still continues, to
use a slightly convoluted and oft misinterpreted statistic known as plus minus (+/ ) to measure
defensive contributions a player makes while on the ice. In the NHL and in virtually all major
sports, the offensive contributions of playersand teams are easily tracked and calculated. It is often
a binary matter, and not open to interpretation; if an NHL player is on the ice, shoots the puck at
the net, and it goes past the goaltender, it s a goal. That goal is then confirmed, tracked, and added
to the player s Goals Scored statistic. The tracking of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The impact of overhead
As it stands right now the push back on reducing overhead support costs comes from a general
request. I do not believe that there is an understanding from the various business units on the costs
of utilizing support resource as it is largely untracked. By measuring Business Unit support resource
usage we can determine where our resources are being spent, and also bring this information up to

Animals And Humans Have A Biological Stress Response
Animals and Humans have a biological stress response intended to facilitate survival in the case
of a life threatening attack or severe illness. This is commonly referred to the fight or flight
response. Some primates, including humans have developed the unhealthy propensity to trigger
this response for psychological or social reasons. Humans in particular experience the stress
response exponentially more often for psychological reasons than for the purpose of survival
(Stress, 2008). For example, we are may feel stressed out about work or school and if we think
about it too much and get upset, we may experience a stress response Just by thinking about

The biological purpose of the stress response is to help the body to survive either some sort of
attack or a serious illness like a stroke or heart attack. During the stress response glucocorticoids
divert the bodies energy to the areas necessary for survival like the muscles and the brain and it
shuts down the areas that are not necessary for survival like the digestive and immune systems
(Sopolsky, 2009). Chronic Stress in this context, is to experience this physical effect on regular or
long term basis. This has become a public health issue for humans because we experience this
chronic biological response on a too frequent a basis for psychological reasons (Stress, 2008).
Psycho social stress can be anything psychological or social that causes us to feel upset. We can
be stressed out because of our job, or because of school, or because we are poor. We define what
we react to and how much time and energy we spend reacting to it. There are some people who
have very difficult lives, who do not experience stress in the same way others do (Myers, 2014).

likely to experience a stress response. Sopolskys research with primates with similar social
structures to humans, revealed that there are several

Muscle Spasticity
The spasticity is considered the main problem as it will cause the affected muscle constantly in
contracted state, hence limited the range of movement of the affected joint. Spasticity is defined as
a velocity dependent increased resistance to passive muscle stretch, or alternatively as inappropriate
involuntary muscleactivity associated with upper motor neuron paralysis (GOLDSTEIN, 2001 and

increases spindle sensitivity. Thus, Stephanie will feel extreme pain and struggle whenever the
affected muscle is being lengthened unconsciously or fast. This will severely affect her functional

An Independent Affair in Ayn Rand’s Novel, The Fountainhead
Love is never the same way twice. However, one particularly unusual case is the relationship
between Dominique Francon and Howard Roark in Ayn Rand s novel, The Fountainhead. It is a
relationship characterized by destruction and dominance. Roark is an architect who refuses to
follow the rules of architecture. Dominique, an independent, rich newspaperwoman, does
everything in her power to destroy his career. Despite this, it is clear that they loveeach other, and
have a connection and understanding that would be impossible for most. Dominique s
campaign against Howard is largely for his own good, and is motivated by her lack of
experience with happiness, as well as the fact that her love is, by nature, destructive. It is easy to
see how Dominique might feel that Howard is better off being unsuccessful. His work goes
against every idea society has at the time, and as such, people rarely understand or appreciate it.
When explaining why she left him, Dominique says, she had run from the dread of seeing him

is so consistently inconsistent with true talent. The people of the world will do everything to tear

V s character type is a complex one to say the least. He is a terrorist, anarchist, philosopher and a

defend the right of the United States and our allies to move freely on the oceans and to protect
our country against her enemies (29November2008). The U.S. Navy training manual states that
the U.S. Armed Forces mission is to prepare and conduct prompt and sustained combat
operations in support of national interest. As a part of that establishment, the U.S. Navy s
function comprise of sea control, projection of power and nuclear deterrence. (NAVEDTRA
14325 Feb2002 pp 20 7). To complete the mission, the Navy relies on its enlisted ranks, which
make up about 80 percent of the active duty personnel. Enlisted sailors complete basic training
and then move on to apprenticeship schools to complete training in their individual job. Sailors
then do their job on a day to day basis and have to prove their skill level and level of
responsibility through a series of Personal Qualification Standards (PQS) and examinations.
Because of this setup, a sailor is recognized not only by his rank, but more so his job title. The
primary mission of every individual sailor is to complete your job efficiently in order for the
overall mission to be successful. On the other hand, the U.S. Army s primary mission, according to
Section 3062 of Title 10 US Code, is to support national policies, implement national objectives,
overcome any nations aggressive acts that threaten the peace and security of the United States and
finally to preserve the peace and security and providing for the defense of the United States,

Informant Vs Preliminary Hearing
The case that I received was a case that has to do with the disclosure of information by the
prosecutor in court. A federal agent had caught a man selling drugs during an undercover operation.
The prosecutor had instructed the agent not to mention information about an informant during the
preliminary hearing.(Garland,2012)The question with this is whether or not this act was
unconstitutional. This is unconstitutional because all information should be included and none
disclosed for the preliminary hearing or any trial. The prosecution wanted to disclose the
information about the informant because it was not needed in the preliminary hearing. The Gale
Encyclopedia said that The hearing is conducted to determine whether there is sufficient

The New Hero of Aeneas Essay
The New Hero of Aeneas
Can myopia afflict an individual with so severe a malady to the extreme of proclaiming, If you
take from Vergilius his diction and metre, what do you leave him ? Unless we take this statement
as a neophyte joke, we may not be able to continue. The objective of this essay is to clean the
bifocals of those whom I presumed after reading the Aeneid as a botched up replica of the Iliad and
the Odyssey conclude that it is indeed so and go about perpetuating such calumny. Hence, to
answer the obvious, if we strip Vergilius of his diction and metre, we leave him a new type of hero.
Well, actually he leaves us a new type of hero, a hero that is foreign to the golden age of Homer. He
presents a new ideal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although he opens up with This is the tale of arms and of a man and suggests that his hero is
another Achilles, or Odysseus, he has, before the end of the first paragraph, shown that he reaches
beyond Aeneas to the long history that followed from him: and that was the origin of the Latin
nation, the Lords of Alba, and the proud battlements of Rome (I, 6 7). Soon after wards, when he
has noted the obstacles that the Trojans meet in their wanderings, he again ends a period in the
similar note: Such was the cost in heavy toil of beginning the life of Rome (I, 33). Once again,
when Venus complains that her son Aeneas is unjustly treated, Jupiter replies not only by
promising that all will be well for Aeneas but by giving a prophetic sketch of Roman history to
Julius Caesar. This reward, which the ancestor is to receive, is much more than his own success or
glory, more even than his settlement in Italy. It is the assurance of the Roman destiny, of universal
and unending dominion: To Romans I set no boundary in space or time. I have granted them
dominion, and it has no end (I, 278 79). As we can see, at the outset Vergilius shows what kind of
destiny is the subject of his poem. The wanderings, sufferings and ultimate success of Aeneas and
his followers are but a preliminary and preparation for a greater theme. Secondly, there is different
theme in Vergilius art. The fundamental

Failure In A College Student
Failure is Okay
When a student is transitioning from the home life into the life of a college student, it can be
very difficult. At home, one listens to their parents and normally has a very structured life. In
college, parents make one create a structured life of their own. One of the scariest things for a
college student is failure during this change in their life. Jim Rohn reminds one, Your life does
not get better by chance, it gets better by change. The fear of being on your own and having to
take initiative can be overwhelming and one may fail, but change is a way to reach success. For a
college student to successfully begin life on their own requires self esteem, creation of self image,
and self improvement. While many feel that failure is an indication in lack of self improvement,
Roth the author of The Achievement Habit, believes failure is a validating sign of improvement.
When one begins college, they feel the pressure in many aspects of life. First, they feel pressure
from their parents to always go to class, get good grades, keep their dorm clean, and make new
friends of course. Beyond that, if one is an athlete or a member of a club they feel pressure there
as well. In the book The Achievement Habit, Bernard Roth, founder of the Institute of design at
Stanford states that In life typically the only one keeping a scorecard of your successes and
failures is you (Roth 21). Whether it be from one s coach, instructor, or the members also involved

Examples Of Mall Observation
I chose to observe the library I work for, which is the Squirrel Hill location of the Carnegie Library
of Pittsburgh system. I performed my observation around 3:30 PM on Monday, September 19th.
There are technically three outdoor entrances, but two of them actually lead to the main inner
entrance. You can see the main entrance from the street, which allows paid parking. The library
itself is positioned above a parking lot (also paid parking), which is where the second main
entrance is seen. Both of these two main entrances lead to the same lobby area where you can
either take the steps or the elevator to the library floor. The third entrance is located on the
opposite side of the branch along the side street, which is residential and free parking, but you can t
see the entrance until you physically walk up the driveway.
Upon entering, there are no signs indicated the layout of the library. At potentially strategic
locations as determined by the Facilities department, there are extremely vague maps indicating
emergency exits for the building, but they are small and not very noticeable. By the main outer
entrances, there is an elevator, stairs, and a space for flyers (bulletin board and a shelf); by the
inner main entrance, there s a bench outside. Upon entering the library, the magazine collection and
first security stand is immediately to the left. On the right are New books in paperback format that
are strung up in display. Ahead is the New and Bestseller collection

Data Structure Of Using Hash Table
Overview:
Hashing in terms of encryption is the conversion of a word into a usually fixed length value or
key that represents the original word. Hashing is used to index and retrieve items in a database
because it is faster to find the item using the shorter hashed key than to find it using the original
value. It basically uses a hash function to convert the word into the key. Hash function is one that
is used to map data of random size to data of fixed size. Values that are returned from a hash
function are called as hash values, hash codes, or hash sums. It mainly uses hash table as a data
structure to look up data rapidly. There will be no two words with same hash value, otherwise
collision occurs between the two words.
In software programming, a hash table or hash map is a data structure that is used to execute an
array i.e. it is a structure that can map keys to values. A hash function is used to determine an
index value for an array of buckets or slots, with which we can find the correct value. A good hash
function with an algorithm are essential for good performance of the hash table though it can be
difficult to achieve. A basic requirement of a hash function is that it should provide distribution of
hash values uniformly. If the distribution is non uniform, it increases the number of collisions and
the cost of resolving them. Uniformity can be evaluated by observing statistical tests. If for
example there exists uniform distribution only for table sizes that are

She Walks In Beauty Summary
She Walks in Beauty is a great little poem written by Lord Byron (George Gordon) which is
written in iambic tetrameter, this specific meter usually found in hymns are associated with
sincerity, and simplicity. iambic tetrameter is a great choice in my opinion, it fits perfectly with
the text. Bryson writes this poem about Robert Wilmot s wife, Mrs Wilmot, Byron really tries to
convey the love the speaker feels towards a stunning women walking with her own aura of
beauty. The author speaks about how the poem occurred when he attended an event to meet his
cousin which is the woman. This encounter then led him to visualize a vivid image of her so he
begins to speak of he stunning beauty. The author compares her beauty to the stars clearly
visible in a dark, cloudless night. This highly rhythmic poem with meaningful tones is found in
Hebrew Melodies which was completed in 1815 conveys the authors message through very
descriptive imagery. The author doesn t describe her physical features she is more or less
evaluated in terms of the physical world, she is shown responding to the world around her. To
further understand this piece of work you really need to know his back story. George Gordon
born 1788 in London, son of Captain John, Mad Jack, Bryron and his second wife, Catherine
Gordon, a Scots heiress. The following 10 years were nothing to brag about because of his clubfoot
and his mothers displaced unnecessary resentment against his father onto him, later on George was

Social Discrepancies Of Titanic, By James Cameron
Social Discrepancies of Titanic Proportions James Cameron s renowned film Titanic is more
than just a love story, and more than a mere portrayal of the tragic sinking of the unsinkable ship;
it is a representation of the socioeconomic disparities between the haves and the have nots during
the early 1900s. As explained by Levinson (2012), Edwardian era society was based on a social
hierarchy dictated by wealth and social class; specifically, the Titanic s passengers were divided
into three classes, determined not only by the price of their ticket, but by their wealth and social
position (150). This socioeconomic class division is evident through the film s plot in which Jack
Dawson, a jobless, lower class American who wins his way onto the RMS Titanic, shares an inter
socioeconomic class relationship with upper class Rose DeWitt Bukater. This storyline allows for
overlaps between the first and third class, and ultimately depicts the ideology of Outsiders versus
Insiders (LCR). Outlined in the Left Center Right Model for identifying ideologies, Outsiders
versus Insiders is an ideology where a left wing view identifies with the poor and disenfranchised,
also know as the Outsiders, and the right winged view identifies with the Establishment and people
in power, or the Insiders (LCR). Titanic represents the outsider oriented perspective on social class
through the difference between first and third class environments, the neglect given towards the
third class,

Tribe Dancing Tribe
Description: Dances are usually preformed at pow wows (modern day gatherings) or in the past
have been done at many if not most of the ceremonies held by the tribe. The dances happen in
large groups all holding instruments and chanting or singing. As they do this the group will move
in a counter clockwise motion on beat creating a being as one. The songs will usually consist of
short chants that are then either repeated or changed just slightly to form a long performance. The
whole tribe will gather together to do these dances. Activity 2: Beading Description: A major part of
this tribe is identification through clothing. In this tribes clothing, Beading is often a sign of the

State your results: the mean, median, mode, range, variance, and standard deviation Based on
the given sample of student test scores of 50, 60, 74, 83, 83, 90, 90, 92, and 95 after
rearranging them from least to greatest. As the mean is based on the average of sum, the
average of this sample is 79.67 or 80. The mode refers to numbers that appear the most in a
sequence and in this case 83 and 90 both appear twice. Range calculates the difference between
the largest and smallest number, which are 95 and 50 which have a difference of 45. The variance
is the difference between the sum of squares divided by the sample size, which is the number in the
sample minus one (Hansen Myers, 2012), meaning it takes each number of the set and subtracts...

The best method to solve for the mean, medium, mode, range, variance, and standards deviation, in
this case is by hand and not on SSPS. For a novice, they would spend more time figuring how to
set the parameters and spend roughly the same amount of time on the analyzation that they would
when using the software. Although, a moderate user of the SSPS software would solve this
problem rather quickly. Though, it is recommended to use SSPS when analyzing a large sample size.
Conduct a one sample t test and interpret the results (use a population mean of 70). One sample t
test are used in the parametric test which analyzes the means of populations. The t test for
independent groups are statistics that relates difference between treatment means to the amount
of variability expected between any two samples of data within the same population (Hansen
Myers, 2012). Critical values are used in significant testing provide a range of t distribution that
is used in whether a null hypothesis is rejected. Based on the data below as the level of
significance is at .05, thus the critical values would fall under В±1.860 and the t value for this is
1.871 would suggest for the null to be rejected as it is greater than the critical value (Privitera,
2015, p. 267). Based on the population mean of 70 there was a mean difference of

Four General Types of Measurement
There are four general types of measurement scales: sorting, ranking, rating, and categorizing
(Cooper amp; Schindler, 2006). The data collected by the survey team at Insuratel used a rating
scale. The surveys where used to measure employee job satisfaction across departments. The Likert
Scale was used to collect the data for all the questions in the survey. The questions asked in the
survey studied the attitudes of the employees and their satisfaction. The surveys provided valuable
feedback and determined that most of the employees are satisfied with their jobs at Insuratel. The
study also suggests that employees don t have a strong opinion about support from upper level
management. Nominal and ordinal measurement scales are used to... Show more content on

  • 2. Fixing Oklahoma s Education System Fixing Oklahoma Education In taking a brief look at the Oklahoma education system, one need not look far before issues of significant underfunding and understaffing come directly into view. Many different proposals regarding what Oklahoma needs to do to resolve this problem have been suggested in the past, but very few of these proposals outline an answer regarding how these fixes will be implemented. How Oklahoma s educational system can increase the effectiveness of its limited funding is something that can be addressed with simple cost effective steps and strategies that have proven their effectiveness in other states. Additionally, the issue of understaffing can be looked at from a fresh perspective in order to understand what the Oklahoma education system can do to bring in new teachers and keep these teachers. Finally, in joining with national level movements and interest groups such as the National Education Association which can help with budgetary issues and Teach for America which can help to bring in new, trained and enthusiastic teachers into areas of Oklahoma that have seen poor performance from students in the past. Funding for Oklahoma schools has fallen dramatically in recent years, with Oklahoma spending $706 less per student in inflation adjusted dollars that it did in 2008, and Oklahomans are worried about it, and rightly so (Gene, 1). In looking toward a quick fix, many have argued that Oklahoma need only reduce its administrative costs, thus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Area 51 is a facility located in Nevada for developing aviation technology. There is no proof explaining why the paranormal happenings are coming from there. Nevertheless, the witnesses claim that these happenings are all related to the aliens. Additionally, they assume the high government officials would have communicated with the aliens in Area 51. The evidence of the claims is not credible is the first point that the article violets from the Baloney Detection Kit. The believers were not skeptical about their claims and they did not try to figure out if their claims were scientifically proven. They just argue that the unidentified flying objects they witnessed are a piece of valid evidence for their claims. Moreover, the flying objects, or what they claimed as their evidences, have not been identified yet. The article does not state where they got the sources of people who saw specious activities happening in Area 51. An unverified claim is also infringing one of Shermer s ten Baloney Detection Kit questions, since their claims have not yet been confirmed by anyone else. In addition, the believers violated the rules of science. The rules of science include observe, predict, test, interpret, and communicate. They first observed the flying objects around the facility. Then, the believers started to predict their hypothesis that there were aliens in Area 51. However, they did not test or exam their hypothesis to identify the objects. Also, they should have gathered data and analyzed them to verify their claims. Lastly, they have not published their study for peer review. Instead, the believers just rumored around. Therefore, this article has not used any of the scientific methods to prove their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

America s New World Beginnings Chapter 1 New World Beginnings The Shaping of North America . originally Earth had only one super continent, this continent split into several smaller ones, one of which would later be called North America . as millions of years passed North America s geography began to change, mountain ranges sprung up, rivers flowed across the vast land, from the Atlantic to the Pacific, the entire continent was changing . two million years ago an ice age swept across the world, North America was part of it, it transformed and shaped the way North America looks today, as the glaciers began melting 10,000 years ago new lakes and rivers became present, such as the Great Lakes that still remain enormous today . The Education System Of Ethiopia Pastoralist Education in Ethiopia Currently: For several years, donors have been implementing Alternative Basic Education Center s in Ethiopia as a way to supplement the formal primary education system in the country. Currently the country faces a number of challenges in regards to their formal primary school system including lack of infrastructure, lack of teachers and economical constraints. Many regions in Ethiopia are hard to reach and the provision of formal education is lacking. To supplement this lack of formal primary schools, donors, together with governments have implemented Alternative Basic Education Center s. These centers are set up differently than formal school as it covers the curriculum of lower primary school, which is traditionally 4 years, and fits it all into 3 years. Upon completion of these 3 years, it is expected that students will be prepared to move into upper primary school (grades 5 8). This set up alleviates the problem of a lack of primary schools, and by completing the curriculum in 3 years, it allows those children who started late to catch up. (CARE Interview) Save the Children Denmark s Alternative Basic Education Project was implemented in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. These bombings on the British cities later became known as the London blitz(http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/blitz.htm) and the biggest city by far that was targeted was London herself. As the weeks went on, London sustained more and more bombings, of course, the citizens of the British cities suffered tremendously, being quite powerless. Though this kept taking its toll on Great Britain s citizens the Royal Air Force had the tension of the attacks on their bases relieved and began its recovery. The Royal Air Force had time to repair the airfields that were out of commission and severely damaged. With these repairs completed on the air bases, the Royal Air Force was more than ready for the next German attack. The idea is to work out a way to keep a given community safely, but at the same time to give the perpetrators with an opportunity to be able to rehabilitate and to better themselves and becoming a productive member of the community and their families. The government states that electronic monitoring still is way inexpensive than housing a perpetrator in a correctional facility. However, when the government takes into consideration all the pieces involving the monitoring of a person within a jurisdiction and all the pieces needed to make this happen then it can be quiet expensive monetarily and with safety concerns. Weaknesses of IR Although there are a lot of strengths for IR, it is not the silver bullet that will completely change accounting forever. One of the main weaknesses of IR is the expenses that come with measuring such a comprehensive range of factors that include non monetary factors that can be hard to actually measure (Eccles Krzus, 2010). It can be unappealing for smaller companies or organisations to set up all of these systems in order to provide a wider perspective of their business or organisation just to please stakeholders, when the costs will outweigh the potential profits of attracting new investors. Another issue would be potential information overload for less knowledgeable individuals who will simply be overwhelmed by all the information provided by IR. There is a question of how important is it to report more comprehensively if the end user will simply be unable to use all of the information to their advantage, which raises another question of if it is worth reporting in an IR format at all. Time is also a major issue for some companies who may have less labour to spare in order to report on what can be considered less important aspects of an organisation, especially if it is a small to medium sized enterprise. There have been reports of some integrated reports being three times as longer than estimated to be completed (Eccles Saltzman, 2011). Regulatory information includes publishing and managing component level information within dossier spanning all formats like electronic Common Technical Document (eCTD), Non eCTD electronic Submissions (NeeS) and paper etc., across diverse pharmaceutical markets. It also includes archival of data / documents with appropriate modification history for audit purposes. Tracking of global submission status with different health authorities and managing modification in those documents in close co ordination with local representatives are key challenges that pharmaceutical industryis potentially facing in a regulatory information management system. The continuous shift from paper submissions to electronic submissions (e submission) in recent years has been accompanied by corresponding business processes modifications. For life science pharmaceuticals, the challenge lies not only in developing an innovative drug / biological product or medical device but in bearing the competition to pharmaceutical market. It is not enough to spend millions and trillions in product development, it is equally critical to be the first to launch the drug in the market compliance matters the purview of the regulatory affairs team. Laminar flow and convective heat transfer of water/alumina nanofluid inside horizontal annuli with a streamwise moving inner cylinder are investigated theoretically. Employed model for alumina /water nanofluid is the modified two component four equation non homogeneous equilibrium model that fully accounts for the effects of nanoparticles volume fraction distribution. Aiming to consider the effects of thermal boundary conditions on nanoparticles migration, two cases including constant heatflux at the outer wall and insulated inner wall (Case A) and constant heat flux at the inner wall with insulated outer wall (Case B) have been considered. The numerical results obtained indicated that the thermal boundary conditions at the pipe walls are significantly affecting the nanoparticle volume fraction distribution particularly in the cases where the ratio of Brownian motion to thermophoretic diffusivities is small. Moreover, increasing the velocity of the moving inner cylinder reduce the heat transferrate for case A. In this case nanoparticles migration has negative effects on the performance of the heat transfer system as it decreases the heat transfer rate. In contrast, in case B, movement of the inner cylinder enhance the heat transfer rate and anomalous heat transfer enhancement take place when the thermophoretic force is dominant (larger nanoparticles). Nanoparticles volume fraction distribution developed under the mutual effects of thermophoretic and Brownian motion forces. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Proteins Of Bovine Red Blood Cell Protein Composition in Red Blood Cells in Humans using Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis Name: Emma Claypole Date: Wednesday March 16, 2016 Lab Group: W08, Wednesday morning 2 Abstract The proteins of Bovine red blood cell (RBC) membranes were analyzed using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. After analyzing Bovine RBC they were then compared to human RBC counterpart. Following finding the log of each molecular weight of each band, band one showed the highest molecular weight. All five bands viewed were from humans. There are typically 7 bands visible however, in our case only five were visible due to implications within the gel sample. Introduction Proteins are important elements in cellular membranes and give the membranes many of their characteristics. In red blood cells, the meshwork of proteins in and around the membrane gives it strength and flexibility, allowing a cell to squeeze through small capillaries without bursting. Other proteins play roles in transporting material in and out of the cell (Lab Manual, Cell Biology). Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE), with all of its different modifications is probably the most widely utilized procedure in contemporary biochemistry and molecular biology (Mordacq and Ellington (1994)). In this experiment, we will attempt to determine the molecular weights of the major proteins in the plasma membranes of bovine red blood cells (RBCs). The fact of the matter is that BBCOR certified aluminum bats have a smaller sweet spot region in the barrel of the bat than BESR certified bats do (Wooden). The sweet spot is the area where if a baseball comes in contact with it, then the trampoline effect will take major effect, causing the ball to be hit very hard and with much force, much more than what was put into the swing (BBCOR). The purpose of the BBCOR bats is to reduce this trampoline effect, meaning that players will have to be stronger and more skilled in order to hit the ball with the power they desire. • 43. An Independent Affair in Ayn Rand’s Novel, The Fountainhead Love is never the same way twice. However, one particularly unusual case is the relationship between Dominique Francon and Howard Roark in Ayn Rand s novel, The Fountainhead. It is a relationship characterized by destruction and dominance. Roark is an architect who refuses to follow the rules of architecture. Dominique, an independent, rich newspaperwoman, does everything in her power to destroy his career. Despite this, it is clear that they loveeach other, and have a connection and understanding that would be impossible for most. Dominique s campaign against Howard is largely for his own good, and is motivated by her lack of experience with happiness, as well as the fact that her love is, by nature, destructive. It is easy to see how Dominique might feel that Howard is better off being unsuccessful. His work goes against every idea society has at the time, and as such, people rarely understand or appreciate it. When explaining why she left him, Dominique says, she had run from the dread of seeing him hurt by the world (Rand 613). She believes he has no chance to succeed when the public opinion is so consistently inconsistent with true talent. The people of the world will do everything to tear down an independent man like Roark, and she knows it. She recognizes his genius, and knows how much it will pain her to see the far inferior society mocking it. V for Vendetta is a film that contains strong character types but diverts from the original graphic novel; however, it still presents a powerful message about government. Strong characters can either make or break a movie. V for Vendetta is a movie that isn t short of strong character types. V s character type is a complex one to say the least. He is a terrorist, anarchist, philosopher and a lover of freedom and chaos. At first people might think how the protagonist of a movie can be a terrorist and still be good, but this factor is what sets V apart from traditional heroes. It is the fact that the world he lives in is so corrupt and power hungry that he can destroy building and still be considered a hero. V is the epitome of the phrase one man s terrorist is another man s freedom fighter . The character of Evey is equally complex. In the beginning of the movie Evey is a young, shy girl who, through a series of events, lives with V and starts to understand his ideologies, and his romance with anarchy. Evey represents the ignorance in everyone. She never acknowledges, before meeting V, that there isn t anything wrong with the government she lives under. Soon after wards, when he has noted the obstacles that the Trojans meet in their wanderings, he again ends a period in the similar note: Such was the cost in heavy toil of beginning the life of Rome (I, 33). Once again, when Venus complains that her son Aeneas is unjustly treated, Jupiter replies not only by promising that all will be well for Aeneas but by giving a prophetic sketch of Roman history to Julius Caesar. This reward, which the ancestor is to receive, is much more than his own success or glory, more even than his settlement in Italy. It is the assurance of the Roman destiny, of universal and unending dominion: To Romans I set no boundary in space or time. I have granted them dominion, and it has no end (I, 278 79). • 48. Failure In A College Student Failure is Okay When a student is transitioning from the home life into the life of a college student, it can be very difficult. At home, one listens to their parents and normally has a very structured life. In college, parents make one create a structured life of their own. One of the scariest things for a college student is failure during this change in their life. Jim Rohn reminds one, Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change. The fear of being on your own and having to take initiative can be overwhelming and one may fail, but change is a way to reach success. For a college student to successfully begin life on their own requires self esteem, creation of self image, and self improvement. While many feel that failure is an indication in lack of self improvement, Roth the author of The Achievement Habit, believes failure is a validating sign of improvement. When one begins college, they feel the pressure in many aspects of life. First, they feel pressure from their parents to always go to class, get good grades, keep their dorm clean, and make new friends of course. Beyond that, if one is an athlete or a member of a club they feel pressure there as well. In the book The Achievement Habit, Bernard Roth, founder of the Institute of design at Stanford states that In life typically the only one keeping a scorecard of your successes and failures is you (Roth 21). • 50. Data Structure Of Using Hash Table Overview: Hashing in terms of encryption is the conversion of a word into a usually fixed length value or key that represents the original word. Hashing is used to index and retrieve items in a database because it is faster to find the item using the shorter hashed key than to find it using the original value. It basically uses a hash function to convert the word into the key. Hash function is one that is used to map data of random size to data of fixed size. Values that are returned from a hash function are called as hash values, hash codes, or hash sums. It mainly uses hash table as a data structure to look up data rapidly. There will be no two words with same hash value, otherwise collision occurs between the two words. In software programming, a hash table or hash map is a data structure that is used to execute an array i.e. it is a structure that can map keys to values. A hash function is used to determine an index value for an array of buckets or slots, with which we can find the correct value. A good hash function with an algorithm are essential for good performance of the hash table though it can be difficult to achieve. A basic requirement of a hash function is that it should provide distribution of hash values uniformly. If the distribution is non uniform, it increases the number of collisions and the cost of resolving them. Uniformity can be evaluated by observing statistical tests. If for example there exists uniform distribution only for table sizes that are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She Walks In Beauty Summary She Walks in Beauty is a great little poem written by Lord Byron (George Gordon) which is written in iambic tetrameter, this specific meter usually found in hymns are associated with sincerity, and simplicity. iambic tetrameter is a great choice in my opinion, it fits perfectly with the text. Bryson writes this poem about Robert Wilmot s wife, Mrs Wilmot, Byron really tries to convey the love the speaker feels towards a stunning women walking with her own aura of beauty. The author speaks about how the poem occurred when he attended an event to meet his cousin which is the woman. This encounter then led him to visualize a vivid image of her so he begins to speak of he stunning beauty. The author compares her beauty to the stars clearly visible in a dark, cloudless night. This highly rhythmic poem with meaningful tones is found in Hebrew Melodies which was completed in 1815 conveys the authors message through very descriptive imagery. The author doesn t describe her physical features she is more or less evaluated in terms of the physical world, she is shown responding to the world around her. To further understand this piece of work you really need to know his back story. • 53. Social Discrepancies Of Titanic, By James Cameron Social Discrepancies of Titanic Proportions James Cameron s renowned film Titanic is more than just a love story, and more than a mere portrayal of the tragic sinking of the unsinkable ship; it is a representation of the socioeconomic disparities between the haves and the have nots during the early 1900s. As explained by Levinson (2012), Edwardian era society was based on a social hierarchy dictated by wealth and social class; specifically, the Titanic s passengers were divided into three classes, determined not only by the price of their ticket, but by their wealth and social position (150). This socioeconomic class division is evident through the film s plot in which Jack Dawson, a jobless, lower class American who wins his way onto the RMS Titanic, shares an inter socioeconomic class relationship with upper class Rose DeWitt Bukater. This storyline allows for overlaps between the first and third class, and ultimately depicts the ideology of Outsiders versus Insiders (LCR). Outlined in the Left Center Right Model for identifying ideologies, Outsiders versus Insiders is an ideology where a left wing view identifies with the poor and disenfranchised, also know as the Outsiders, and the right winged view identifies with the Establishment and people in power, or the Insiders (LCR). Titanic represents the outsider oriented perspective on social class through the difference between first and third class environments, the neglect given towards the third class, ...
