Gender Stereotypes In Parkchester
The South Bronx is an area filled with rich culture and unique qualities. For the past 50 years, it has
seen many changes from the shift in ethnicity to the rapid growth in the immigrant population.
Commonly known as the Boogie Down , the South Bronx has had its reputation for being the
birthplace of hip hop. With the widespread increase of Blacks and Hispanics in the community, the
South Bronx has moved from Blacks being the minority of Whites being the minority. This ethic is
due to numerous factors that will discuss, in order to see why people have chosen to make in and out
of the South Bronx neighborhood of Parkchester. A census conducted throughout the past years will
emphasize on the numeric values of this change. Additionally, it ... Show more content on

Many of the public schools in the South Bronx are witnessing failing results. Failing schools are a
result lack of security. For example, a few years back when I was a high school. My high school
located in the South Bronx given all the necessary resources, but failed to provide security. As a result,
student brought guns, weapons and sold illegal drugs inside of the school s compound. In relation, to
the twentieth century, schools were safer, and the need for security was of less importance. Parks and
recreational centers today are being used less by the people of the community. The keys to the parks in
Parkchester are given to residents located closer to the park. The opening and closing of the parks
depend primarily on the key holder, which is the difference from the past, where everyone was allow
coming freely. The reasoning behind not allowing free access to public places is to make it safer. In an
effort to make it safer, it is perhaps more dangerous with the illegal entering of criminals, which
utilizes the areas as hideout

The Role Of Robots
I imagine my future with robots, advanced phone, flying cars and much more. A lot of people think
that robots will take over the world and take people s job, etc. Robots are being use to go to war and
taking people s jobs. Robots are operating environment, the relatively high initial cost of robots means
that they tend to be only used by large companies or in defence. It is unlikely that all the humans will
be replaced by robots in any task, it is much more likely that fewer people will be needed because for
many years robots will be assistants. Robots are usually thought of as being mobile but they don t
have to be. For example, washing machines, dishwashers, and tumble driers can also be thought of as
robots. The future is most likely to be one of productivity gains. They are trying to put brains and
several sensors and actuators in robots. The technology has been available for many years. The
advances happening in technology and it s becoming that evident that computers, machines, robots,
and other things are going to be able to do most of the routine, and repetitive types of jobs. A lot of
skills levels fall into that category. People with college degrees, even professional degrees, also
lawyers are doing things that ultimately are predictable. A lot of those jobs are going to be susceptible
over time. Right now there s still a lot of debate over it. There are economists who think it s totally
wrong, that problems really stem from things like globalization or the fact

C. S. Lewis Miracles Essay
In the book Miracles C.S. Lewis discusses what miracles are and challenges the reader, Christian or
not, to think philosophically on how and why they happen. He uses ideas such as naturalism and
supernaturalism to help readers understand the idea of miracles, but also makes sure to point out that
miracles do happen, and they happen for a reason. That reason being because God intended them to
happen to maintain control on Earth as well as show his sovereignty. Some people may think of things
being out of control in the world to be riots, an uncontrollable plague, or even a three year old kid
throwing a tantrum, but in reality what if out of control is anything that has resulted from the fall,
anything that God had not intended? C.S. Lewis states, By definition, miracles must of course
interrupt the usual course of Nature...in the very act of so doing, assert all the more the unity and self
consistency of total reality at some deeper level (97). Miracles are not always prevalent at times, but
are ways for God to bring the world closer to how He had originally intended the ... Show more

It seems that much more likely that human thought is not God s but God kindled (44). Lewis
explained before that God can interfere in the physical world and that it may interrupt the usual course
of nature all the while of asserting self consistency. Humans may decide for themselves what they eat
for breakfast on a day to day basis, but in the big scheme of things it is actually God who makes their
decisions for them. to realize for the first time how majestically indifferent most reality is to man, and
who perhaps abandons his religion on that account, may at that moment be having his first genuinely
religious experience (81).God allows humans to make their own decisions, but by making their

Law Binding Contract
Task A Issue The main issue that needs to be addressed here is whether there is binding contract
between the two parties, Baldcure Ltd. and Gary Knudenut, and consequently whether Gary can sue
under that contract. Rule A contract is a legally enforceable agreement between two or more parties.
To be valid, a contract must comprise of the following elements: agreement (offer + acceptance)
intention consideration capacity to contract consent legality In order to establish whether there is a
binding contract between Gary and Baldcure we need to consider the existence of these elements. One
of the essential prerequisites of a contract (bilateral or unilateral) is agreement. Agreement ... Show

Sub Issue 3 The issue that need to be considered further is whether there is an intention to create a
legal relationship between Gary and Baldcure Ltd. Rule: In general, intention exists where can be
demonstrated that there is an agreement. The law in this area requires an evidence of implied intention
of the both parties to be bind by an agreement. (Pentony, 2003, p 57). Two presumptions need to be
considered: parties in commercial relationship intend to create a legally binding contract parties in
domestic or social relationship do not intend to create a legally binding agreement Balfour v Balfour
(1919) 2 KB 571. Application: If we apply the law to the facts, the two parties, Gary and Baldcure
have genuine consent to be in a commercial relationship. Conclusion: To conclude, there is a
commercial relationship between Gary and Baldcure Ltd and therefore applies the presumption that
they intended to enter into a binding agreement. Sub Issue 4 The next issue is the existence of
consideration by Gary and Baldcure Ltd. Rules Consideration is defined as an act of forbearance, or

Holden Caulfield Reliable Narrator
The catcher in the rye is by a well known author by the name J.D. Salinger. This book is about a teen
named Holden and his story along his life. Throughout this story it s questioned whether Holden is a
reliable or unreliable narrator. It s important to know in a book whether the author is reliable and
unreliable because it may affect the way that the book is red and processed. Everyone has different
feelings about whether Holden is a reliable narrator, but I feel like Holden is an unreliable narrator. As
the story progresses Holden points out different characteristics of himself and in one of these incidents
he calls himself out on being a liar. He says Then I started reading this timetable I had in my pocket.

The Meaning Of Socrates An Unexamined Life Is Not Worth...
Socrates stated that An unexamined life is not worth living . In his day this was a very bold statement.
The people back then was stuck in their own ways. They had their ways of thinking and that was it.
Having someone come in and try to show them another way of thinking was not acceptable. They
were not ready for Socrates, therefore they took him to trail, and where he was sentenced to death for
his believes. I think there are several different meanings for his statement. Was he right, was the jury
right in sentencing him to death and what was the outcome of his death?
There is not a clear way to say if Socrates was right or wrong in his statement, but in my opinion he
was a brave man. His statement An unexamined life is not worth living is something everyone should

Who was these people to say if Socrates was wrong in teaching or speaking his beliefs? The
philosopher felt that, what he said was true, and stood up for it no matter the cost. The jury found
Socrates guilty by a vote of 280 to 221. That was a close vote, for a man who so many said was
wrong. Socrates expected to lose much more than this. Meletus proposed the death penalty, and
Socrates was asked to propose a different form of punishment. Being the person Socrates was he
doesn t ask himself what penalty he wants to pay, but what penalty he deserves. He feels as if he
cannot propose an appropriate penalty when he has not intentionally wronged anybody. Even so, he
rejects most of the penalties the jury might consider to be acceptable. Being held in prison would
leave him under the control of someone else. Banishment would just send him to wander from town to
town. Socrates, also refused to give up his philosophizing, as it is only through this that he can so his
duty to God and purse goodness. After Socrates belief and rather weird request for the death penalty to

Necropsy Studies
Use of necropsy examination as a diagnostic aid to detect bTB Gross PM examination at slaughter
houses as well as cattle with suspected clinical manifestations of bTB and died can be used for
diagnosis. At necropsy, a tentative diagnosis of bTB can be made by the detection of macroscopic
lesions typical of bTB (Ameni et al., 2008).The sensitivity of gross PM examination is affected by the
anatomical sites examined and the method practiced (Ameni et al., 2008). Careful examination of LNs
(mandibular, medial retropharyngeal, cranial and caudal mediastinal, left and right bronchial, hepatic
and mesenteric LNs) and the lungs can result in 95 % of cattle with macroscopic lesions being
identified (Ameni et al., 2008). Further, histo pathological examination of the lesions may increase the
confidence of the diagnosis. The most commonly observed microscopic lesions are characterized by a
central necrosis with mineralization surrounded by granulomatous inflammatory response (Ameni et
al., 2007). 3.1.2 Bacteriological culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

smooth and off white (buff) in color. The organism grows slowly at 37°C, but does not grow at 22°C

Defining Abnormality With Consideration of Cultural...
Defining Abnormality With Consideration of Cultural Differences
Cultural differences are always a problem when defining abnormality. What one would consider
completely normal in one culture would be considered abnormal in another, for example the island of
Java often set fire to a ball soaked in petrol and then play football with it. Here that would be
considered wrong and abnormal but is an everyday occurrence for the people of Java. This concept
doesn t only apply to eastern cultures; the English could be defined as abnormal by other cultures
definitions, even by other western societies e.g. it would not be considered normal by the Italians to
wait at a red light when there are no other cars ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When using this approach to define abnormality you would first have to consider what is normal
behaviour for that particular culture otherwise a person could be incorrectly diagnosed as abnormal.
Cultural differences are also a problem for the Failure to Function Adequately definition of
abnormality. This classification of abnormality involves a person who conforms to their 7
characteristics of the abnormal as having ill mental health. Examples of these characteristics are
vividness, unconventionality and observer discomfort. This definition does not state the extent of the
characteristic in order for it to be abnormal, for example we could class the Native Americans who
perform the sun dance (a ritual which involves ripping ropes out of the chests of dancers) as abnormal
as we would experience discomfort from watching this behaviour, whilst Native Americans take great
joy in this activity and it us used as part of their celebrations.
Other attempts to define abnormality are also limited by cultural differences, for example the DSM
refers only to disorders found in westerners, it does not mention culture bound syndromes, for
example Koro which is found solely in South East Asia and Pibloqtoq which occurs mainly in cold
climates e.g. Greenland Alaska and the Canadian Arctic. Many disorders in the DSM are specific only
to western society;

A Survey of Tragedy
A Survey of Tragedy A modern tragedy of today and a tragedy of ancient Greece are two very
different concepts, but ironically, both are linked by many similarities. In Poetics , Aristotle defines
and outlines tragedy for theatre in a way that displays his genius, but raises questions and creates
controversy. Aristotle s famous definition of tragedy states:
A tragedy is the imitation of an action that is serious, and also as having magnitude, complete in itself
in language with pleasurable accessories, each kind brought in separately in the parts of the work; in a
dramatic, not in a narrative form: with incidents arousing pity and fear; wherewith to accomplish its
catharsis of such emotions. I believe Aristotle s meaning of Imitate ... Show more content on

In Oedipus the King , Sophocles characterization of the protagonist is in near perfect compliance with
the traits Aristotle outlined in Poetics . In the first scene, the foundation is laid showing King Oedipus
as a good and kind King. He speaks with the city elder, showing his compassion and promising to
relieve the city of Thebes of a plague. As the story line plays out, Oedipus s character flaws of anger
and compulsiveness begin to appear. These defects force the king into situations he would have been
better to avoid, including his own fate death or banishment. When an Oracle reveals the prophecy that
Oedipus will kill his father and marry his mother, Oedipus leaves his comfortable life with King
Polybus of Corinth and his wife Merope, who he believes are his biological parents. On his way to the
city of Thebes, Oedipus kills a stranger on the road who turns out to be Laius, King of Thebes and
unbeknownst to him, his biological father. When Oedipus arrives in Thebes he saves the city from the
curse of the Sphinx, as a result is made King and marries the dead King s Queen, Jocasta, his mother,
thus fulfilling the prophecy. Oedipus is a victim of his own destiny and despite doing everything right;
there s nothing he could have done that would have changed his life. Studying Oedipus the King and

Secret Intelligence Service Research Paper
The Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), also referred by MI6 (Military Intelligence, Section 6), which is
responsible for offering British government and military foreign intelligence, was founded over 100

the end of the second world war, after absorbing the remans of the Special Operations Executives
(SOE) the SIS expanded their faculties and started a new agenda: against Soviet Union. During the

which consisted of three other graduated students from the University of Cambridge s Donald
Maclean, Anthony Blunt, Guy Burgess and Philby. They handed the information covertly acquired in
Britain to the Soviet Union. As a result, the covert Britain agents in the Soviet Union were exposed

because these highly educated English men s attempt to leave the British lifestyle proved that the

Philby s spying against Britain and the U.S was both instrumental in the identification and murder of

many British agents by passing over thousands of top secret documents to Moscow and(Parfitt). His

Essay about Comparing Perrault s Cinderella with Disney s...
Walt Disney s Cinderella is adapted from the original fairy tale written in 1697 by Charles Perrault.
There are some key differences between Walt Disney s Cinderella and Charles Perrault s Cinderella.
In Charles Perrault s tale, Cinderella s father is not dead, but the father is controlled by the stepmother.
Cinderella s younger stepsister is much more polite than the older stepsister, who calls Cinderella
Cinderwench. The king in Perrault s tale hosts a two day Ball, which Cinderella attends with the help
of the fairy godmother. During Cinderella s preparation for the first night of the Ball, Cinderella helps

Perrault s tale display characteristics that are alike to a modern western woman, today. On the first
night of the Ball, the fairy godmother struggles to find something turn into a coachman. Then
Cinderella suggests to transform the ...rate in the rat trap...into a coachman (Perrault). This act reveals
that Cinderella is capable of solving problems individually (Robbins, 107); a quality of a modern
western woman. In addition, Cinderella demonstrates intelligence when the step sisters talk to
Cinderella after returning from the first night of the Ball (Robbins, 107). Cinderella pretends to be

after returning from the first night of the ball. By pretending to be sleepy, the step sisters assume that
Cinderella did not attend the Ball. The step sisters tell Cinderella that a finest princess (Perrault) came
to the Ball, however, when Cinderella inquires about the unknown princess name, the step sisters state
that they did not know. Also, the step sisters tell Cinderella that the prince would give all the world to

Examples Of Female Oppression In The Yellow Wallpaper
Female Oppression in The Yellow Wallpaper Charlotte Perkins Gillman s The Yellow Wallpaper
approaches some often overlooked topics in literature including how men and women interact
differently when it comes to serious situations such as how to help someone who is greatly suffering
from a mental affliction. The narrator of the text is Jane, and her husband John is incidentally making
her mental illness worse while he is in fact trying to help her get better. John is not a bad person. He
truly loves his wife and believes he is helping her. He is a doctor so it is understandable that he would
dismiss his wife s opinions and do what he assumes is best for her. John represents the unintentional

Jane looks at him and declares, I ve got out at last in spite of you and Jane! And I ve pulled off most of
the paper, so you can t put me back! (86). At this point John fainted and Jane had to creep over him
(86). John becomes exactly what he is trying to prevent his wife from coming. He viewed Jane s
femininity as a weakness and tried to do everything in his power to make sure she was rested and did
not push herself too hard. Yet, John was the one who fainted, which is usually considered a
predominantly feminine trait. His fainting demonstrates the fragility of masculinity. John ends up
representing his own hidden femininity when he faints. It is often considered the job of the man of the
family to be strong and to protect the weaker sex. John s fainting ends up proving that both men and
women can experience high levels of distress when something serious happens. John treats Jane like
she is fragile and breakable, but it seems like he is just as fragile and breakable, if not more so. Even
though John ignores Jane when she tells him what she thinks would be better for herself John is also
denying himself the ability to show compassion to his struggling wife. By treating his wife like she is
unable to acknowledge her own needs John becomes shocked when Jane descends into madness. If he

The aspect level sentiment analysis overcomes this problem and performs the sentiment classification
taking the particular aspect into consideration. There can be a situation where the sentiment holder
may express contrasting sentiments for the same product, object, organization etc Techniques for
sentiment analysis is generally partitioned as (1) machine learning approach, (2) lexicon based
approach and (3) combined approach (Meddhat et al., 2014a). There are two approaches for the
lexicon based approach. First one is the dictionarybased approach and the second one is the corpus

Some combined rule algorithms were proposed in (Medhat et al., 2008a). Therefore, a study on
decision tree and decision rule problem is done by Quinlan (1986). Probabilistic Classifier
Probabilistic classifiers make the utilization of blend of models for classification. Every class is
considered to be a component of the mixed model. We have described various probabilistic classifiers
for sentiment analysis problem in the next subsection. 4.1.1.4.1 Naive Bayes Classifier (NB). It is the
frequently used classifier in sentiment analysis. In sentiment analysis, naive Bayes classifier calculates
the posterior probability of either positive class or negative class depending on the sentiment words
distributed over the document. The work of naïve Bayes classifier is based on the Bag of word
extraction of features in which the word s position is overlooked in the whole text. This classifier uses
the Bayes theorem. It calculates the probability for the sentiment word in a document and tells
whether that word belongs to the positive or negative class. The probability can be calculated using
the given formula. This assumption results in Bayesian Network. A Bayesian network is a directed
acyclic graph containing nodes and edges, where nodes denote the random variables and the edges
denote the conditional dependencies. It is a conditional exponential classifier that takes the feature sets
with label and converts them into

Censorship Is A Way Of Regulating Information
Censorship
Censorship is a way of regulating and examining various forms of media available to the general
public. It occurs in different contexts, including books, films, art plays, radios, television programs,
news, internet and communications. Censorship can be achieved by prior restraint, which consists of
licensing system where a work has to be submitted before publication or court injunction prohibiting
dissemination of information (Cohen 11). This type of censorship prevents certain materials from
being published. On the other hand, censorship can also be achieved by suppressing ideas found to be
objectionable or offensive (Cohen 11). This indicates that censorship can be practiced in different
forms and it can occur either before or after a work s publication.
According to Mark Cohen Censorship in Canadian literature , a censor is one who exercises official
supervision over morals and conduct (3). There is always a driving factor behind censorship. One
might argue that censors want to control the minds of young, because students who read might learn to
think and question them. This might be taken as a tool of government control over its citizens.
Throughout history censorship has become an enemy of freedom and democracy (Cohen 5). However
according to article 19 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights; Everyone has
the right to freedom of opinion and expression (United Nations). The First Amendment of the United
States Constitution also

The Course Pack Provided For The Native American Philosophy
The Course Pack provided for the Native American Philosophy contained nine articles combined to
demonstrate the huge philosophical gap of ideologies between Canada and the Aboriginal people. A
couple articles comment how Canada in the past has attempted to discriminate, assimilate and destroy
the aboriginal people and when that did not work, their cultures and assimilate them into European
Canada ways. Evidently this has not worked. The course pack talks about the differences of ideologies
being because of different languages, assumptions, and cultural views. In order to narrow the gap we
need to understand these differences on both sides to a greater extent.
Beliefs and culture were vastly different between Canada and the Aboriginals which lead to certain
actions made by the government. For example the First Nations believe in elders educating their
children through stories and the children learning through experiences. Canadians did not recognize
this form of teaching and so assumed they did not have any education in place. The same thing
happened with religion and law and the Canadians thought they would be helping the First Nations but
in reality all they caused was confusion and a divide between two cultures as a result of their
ignorance to understand any view other than their own. This issue rose again with the creation of
treaties with the Crown, the Crown believing that they owned the land. The Aboriginal people never
understood this as they don t believe someone

A Relationship Between Democracy And Making The World A...
Is there a relationship between democracy and making the world a more peaceful place? With the
increase in the number of democracies post Cold War, this contemporary question is one, which many
scholars of International Relations aim to answer. Whilst many scholars may argue that spreading
democracy will make the world a more peaceful place, as claimed with the democratic peace theory, it
is necessary to look at factors other than democracy that lead to world peace. By understanding factors
such as common cultures allowing for international cooperation, the weaknesses of democratic
institutions in prohibiting warfare and the importance of economy to states highlight that it is more
than just democracy that leads to international harmony, and that perhaps liberal democracies more so
than just democracy itself will allow for greater global amity.
Arguably peace and democracy are equally ambiguous words. Peace, internationally involves a lack of
armed conflicts, encompassing the idea that states will not wage war against each other resulting in
physical or economic losses. . However, peace at a state level is when there is civil order within the
country and citizens are content with their human rights and civil liberties . As peace seeks to
symbolize a wide range of things, peace in this essay is defined at its international level, whereby
there is no warfare. Secondly, democracy will be defined in this essay by its modern meaning as the
process of developing a recognizably

Szymborsk Human Consciousness
Wislawa Szymborska stated at the very beginning of my creative life I loved humanity. I wanted to do
something good for mankind. Soon I understood that it isn t possible to save mankind (Anon., 2016).
In a View with a Grain of Sand and Tarsier, Szymborska employs caesuras, irony and similes, to
reveal the significance of the insignificance and its reliance upon human consciousness, for without
the distinction between species, there would exist no superiority or significance of any being.
Szymborska approaches relatively insignificant ordinary objects and creates, yet from her new
perspective, the reality and importance of all things reveals a seemingly harsh truth. Szymborska
views the insignificant as significant, for without the insignificant, ... Show more content on

insignificance and it almost appears that status is bound in blood. As Should we die, our death would

how humanity permits tarsiers to live, almost as if mankind is seen at the centre of the world and
everything else within that same world, is only significant, if it has relevance to mankind. Through the

Obstacles In The Count Of Monte Cristo
A person cannot be defined by their physical characteristics, but instead by the way they react and
recover to the obstacles that are placed in front of them. During the French Revolution, many French
authors, such as Alexandre Dumas, wrote numerous novels in order to educate readers about their
historical heritage. This reality is exemplified in Alexandre Dumas novel; the novel is about a wrongly
convicted man who is determined to strike his vengeance on those who incarcerated him. During the
time this book was written, the most popular genre was D Artagnan romances which were based off of
historical events and people. Although what transpires within The Count of Monte Cristo is fictitious,
the hardships the protagonist and other characters face, is indeed comparable to those of which many
have endured for centuries. Alexandre Dumas utilizes the main character of the story to overcome
multiple complications which exemplifies the importance of responding and persevering through
monumental obstacles.
Throughout the novel, the protagonist, Edmond Dantes, is continuously having to make decisions that
most people would find very uncomfortable in dealing with. At the ... Show more content on

collected manner by the Count, he suggests he is capable of reviving Maximillian s love. To
Maximillian s amazement, the Count does succeed in resurrecting Maximillian s. The Count of Monte

Hamilton Vs Jefferson Essay
Alexander Hamilton vs Thomas Jefferson Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton are two very
different, yet similar, people. Jefferson grew up in Virginia to a well respected family, while Hamilton
was born in the Caribbean Island of St. Croix, but moved to America when he at age thirteen to get a
better education. They were both prodigies in writing, Hamilton wrote about a hurricane around
eleven, amazing many people, and Jefferson was able to write eloquence with his pen, all throughout
his life. Jefferson was born into a powerful family, owned slaves, and worked on a tobacco farm,
while Hamilton married into a New York wealthy family, where he was noticed by General George
Washington, and became his personal assistant. After watching ... Show more content on

For the betterment of the country. Besides the debate who government shall be run by, they also had
different opinions on what type of laws should be set in place, loose or strict construction. Loose
construction allows the government to stretch or change the constitution, as long as it benefits the
common good of the people. While strict construction, makes the government follow the exact laws
set in place by the constitution. Hamilton had the better vision with the idea of loose construction
because the government changes throughout time, the needs of the people changes, so the constitution
would be have to be amended and stretched to fit those needs. Another debate between Jefferson and
Hamilton was whether or not the Bill of Rights was needed before the government was formed. While
Hamilton said that the Bill of Rights was unnecessary to have before the government was formed,
Jefferson had the better opinion. The Bill of Rights gave the people and states rights, before a
government is formed the people in the country and the government should know what rights the
states and citizens have, so there will be no law that contrasts to the rights of the people. The United
States economy was another extensive topic that Jefferson and Hamilton disagreed on, both had very
strong arguments. Jefferson, being a farmer himself, that the economy was ran off of agriculture,
specifically from the South. Hamilton thought that

The Debate On Same Sex Marriage
As citizens of the United States, we all have rights protected by our constitution set forth by our
founding fathers; however, the right to marry whichever one we choose has been a hot topic for
endless debate. In recent years, the repealing of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in California
had stirred great deliberation. Marriage equality has been a nation s issue on and off election agenda.
Back in 2013, Supreme Court s decisions on Hollingsworth vs. Perry, also known as Proposition 8
established oppositions from around the world. As a nation, there should not be any reasons as to why
there is sill no clear declaration of answers for this issue. The small percentage would argue that there
seem to be progress toward same sex marriage, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
God does not allow marriage between people of the same gender. Conservatives tend to align their
decisions of politics with guidance of the Church s views, and that marriage is a union between a man
and a woman. This attitude leads to their opposition of homosexuality. But there is always an odd one
in among others. Our second populated state, Texas, has been known for it conservative ness, yet it
have the sixth largest LGBT population beside California and Atlanta. These few constituencies will
always be the one that astonish and be an outlier in statistical sense. The Cathedral of Hope situated in
Dallas is home to over 30,000 gay/lesbian members as its name gave away, the Church served to hold
events that will hopefully turn people s attitude toward gay marriage. Lastly, Texas ranked first in the
race of having the most number of same sex households with children, proving that even in the most
conservative state will not follow the GOP Platform effectively .
These new ideologies did not occurred when President Ronald Reagan s was in office. However after
his election, the Republican Party began a new reign of Christian conservatism, and continues to
converse ideologies until now. The conservative is not a proponent of marriage equality. Because
conservatives are strict on laws, they tend to lean toward powers outline in the constitution by our
founding fathers.

Short Summary Of Nelson Mandela s Long Walk On Freedom
Elon Fiol
May 13, 2015 Long Walk to Freedom
I hate race discrimination most intensely and in all its manifestations. I have fought it all during my
life; I fight it now, and will do so until the end of my days. Nelson Mandela. He was birthed into
greatness and it is safe to say that he was a publicly acclaimed leader for his great efforts during the
Apartheid in South Africa. Many would identify a leader in many ways but, the most important aspect
of leadership is to go against the circumstances and make a difference. Mandela s childhood
experiences and life after helped shaped his beliefs and values that would label him the man he
became to be. In terms of culture and other aspects that would influence a child s life, there is a
correlation between childhood experiences and the kind of person we grow up to be. In order to
understand Mandela s life, we have to examine the content of his childhood surroundings and his
personal way of being. His life through trial and error would create a legacy to learn from for many
generations to come. He had passion for the fight against racial oppression and rights of the people in
South Africa but, his views and morals resonate with people all over the world. Racial oppression
exist in the most richest and poorest parts of the world and is an ideology that has been deeply rooted
since the beginning of time. It is people like Nelson Mandela that put aside their own differences to

Childhood Amnesia Essay example
Childhood Amnesia
A fundamental aspect of human memory is that the more time elapsed since an event, the fainter the
memory becomes. This has been shown to be true on a relatively linear scale with the exception of our
first three to four years of life (Fitzgerald, 1991). It is even common for adults not to have any
memory before the age of six or seven. The absence of memory in these first years has sparked much
interest as to how and why it happens. Ever since Freud (1916/1963) first popularized the
phenomenon there have been many questions and few robust empirical studies. Childhood amnesia is
defined as the period of life from which no events are remembered (Usher Neisser, 1993) beginning at
birth and ending at the onset of your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One such variable is the family specific knowledge that a volunteer has accumulated over the course
of their life. Loftus, (1993) suggested that early childhood memories are greatly influenced by one s
amassed, family knowledge. For example, a participant who knows that his or her cousin was closely
involved in their upbringing is likely to guess that he or she was present at an important event without
any actual memory of the fact. Contributing factors to this are family stories, photographs, home
movies, etc. The variance of memories between participants also makes it hard to convert what is
reported into significant terms. For example, my earliest memory is from when I was about four years
old and my grandmother gave me a piece of amethyst in a wooden quart basket similar to one you buy
berries in. This information given its degree of accuracy is quite difficult to generalize since every
other person will recount a unique story. A method used by experimenters to compensate for this is the
targeting of a specific, datable event common to many individuals. In the 1993 experiment by Usher
and Neisser, these target events consisted of the birth of a younger sibling, a hospitalization, the death
of a family member and a family move. The use of targeted recall has helped solve one problem with
infantile amnesic research but as we will see there are still many problems with the experimental

Imperialism And Darkness In Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darkness
Joseph Conrad s 1899 novel heart of darkness, a story of madness and realization of the open world

controlling the natives( savages ) to keep as protection from harm and going insane. They were not
criminals, they were nothing earthly now, nothing but black shadows of disease and starvation, lying
confusedly in the greenish gloom. The policy of extending a country s power and influence through
diplomacy or military force. Subsequently, is exactly what Mr. Kurtz represents in the trade and
discovery of ivory which leads him to go crazy. Using fear and the gaslight method on the savages Mr.
Kurtz completes the task of controlling and gaining influence over the native people. Much like slaves
in the United States reacted the same way as the savages wish to keep Mr. Kurtz as he was in his last
days. Prior to their personal interaction, Mr. Marlow admires and knows Kurtz through his writings
and reputation concerning the civilization of the African continent. He then sets out a journey with the
excitement of meeting him. However, the experience of Marlow in Africa inspires

Use of Force
The use of force has always been a questionable tactic in law enforcement and security fields.
Everyone always questions how much force is needed, was the force justifiable and could the officer
have done something differently to deter the use of force. By teaching officers and protection agents
what is the appropriate level of force and in what situations force can be stronger will help to prevent
unnecessary questioning by the public and the media. Most agencies have guidelines and policies that
outline the use of force. These guidelines describe the escalating continuum that is appropriate for
officers and agents to use.
The use of force continuum is designed into five separate levels. Level one is the simple presence of
an officer or agent. The agent is non threatening and professional, and the mere presence of the agent
is to act as deterrence for an attacker. Level two is the verbalization level. This is when an agent uses
verbal commands such as please step back, stop, or do not move to make the individual to stop his or
her approach. This is a non physical stage and is used to let the attacker know that there is someone
present to stop him or her if he or she continues. Level

The Segregation Of South Afric An Outcome Of Colonialism,...
The existing pattern of manipulated schooling in South Africa can be considered an outcome of
colonialism, segregation and apartheid. In the early 1800s, the arrival of the British introduced the first
system of education in Africa. The indigenous people of Africa were exposed to schooling under the
provision of British missionaries. At this time, education was a means of spreading the British
language, imposing their religion and just a general mechanism for social control. Their strategy was
to civilize the black Africans and anglicize the white Afrikaners. And most of the school
establishments were mixed, serving whites coloreds and Africans. However, the Afrikaners resisted
European control in attempt to avoid becoming the lower ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Education s role can be molding a person for their prescribed field of work, and that is exactly what
the whites conducted. They systematically programmed the Africans for work as cheap unskilled
laborers and thus left the superior roles in society for themselves to fill. Clear ethnic and class
stratification developed, and the government eventually adopted the view that Africans must fund their
own education, which continued throughout the apartheid. Between 1910 and 1948, per capita
expenditures on white education increased by 263% and African numbers in school plummeted to
about 30% (Johnson 1982). Once again, limiting education was a tool to shape society for the benefit
of one group the education of the White child prepares him for life in a dominant society and the
education of the black child for a subordinate society (Johnson 1982). And in 1948, the Afrikaner
National Party rose to power by an election victory, attaining further governmental policy control. The
aim of the National Party was to increase and rigidify the segregationism imposed in the few years
previous, and thus began the apartheid in South Africa. To facilitate the separation of all ethnic groups
the Bantu Education act was introduced in 1953. And in combination with the National Education
Policy Act of 1967, which stripped the provinces of most of their control over white education and
empowered the Minister of

Ivan Pavlov was a physiologist, who contributed to the field of medicine, with his study of the
physiology of digestion. He was born September 14th, 1849, in Ryazan, Russia, in the village where
his father was a priest. When he was young poverty was an issue and everyone assumed he would
follow in his father s footsteps and become a priest. However, he was greatly influenced by the most
prominent physiologist at the time, Darwin s and his theory of evolution, D. I. Pisarev and I. M.

Pandemic Death Monologue
Pandemic Death So It started when I was young about nine years of age and it was early in the year
1350. It started a little like this, there was a knock on the door and I got up to go see who it was. When
I opened the door there was a man on his horse. The man asked my parents were home, they were, so I
said I could go and get them. Once I had gotten my parents the man asked if they are willing to go on
a trip through the sea to Kwillining, London. They said they would, so they put in there few overalls
and dirty old jeans into a small waggon that are going to have to hall 46 miles to get to the ship. I have

The voice was booming, dark, and scary. They then suddenly I saw the door split in two. A man about
twice the height as me then thundered in. The man started rambling on about how everyone is dieing
and that the world was going to end. I noticed there were swollen oval shaped things the size of an

The man then asked, I ve traveled a long way and i m so tired of seeing dead bodies everywhere I go I
was also wondering if I could sit a while here. Just about everyone is dead around here.
I told him he could stay a while and I got him some fresh water. The man said he would replace our

Summary Of Mere Christianity
Liar, Lunatic, or Lord? You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon;
or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing
nonsense about His being a great moral teacher. He has not left it open to us. He did not intend to.
(Lewis 78.) In Mere Christianity, Lewis talks about the silliness of accepting Jesus as another great
moral teacher. According to Lewis, we must all make a choice to call Jesus liar, lunatic, or Lord.
...What should we make of a man, himself unrobbed and untrodden on, who announced that he
forgave you for treading on other men s toes and stealing other men s money? (Lewis 78.) What
ordinary man would be able to do this?. Even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lewis says that Jesus has two of the character traits that all men struggle with, humbleness and
meekness. Even the great Confucius and Socrates, people who we consider to be great teachers, had
problems with humility and meekness. So what Lewis is saying is that it is foolish to compare Jesus to
the common man. It clearly makes no sense. In John 9, it talks about Jesus healing the blind man,
Bartimaeus. ...while I am in the world, I am the light of the world...He spit on the ground, made some
mud with the saliva and put it on the man s eyes... wash in the pool of Siloam Jesus said. So the man
went, and came home seeing. John 9:5 7. What common great moral teacher could do that? Now
anyone may easily think, This man is a straight lunatic. Now no longer can He be a liar because He
proved His power. If you have seen any insane people, you will notice that they don t speak the same
way Jesus did. Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you (Mt. 5:44.) Jesus spoke to
change the lives of millions of people. Calling him a lunatic would completely contradict the idea of
accepting Him as a great moral teacher. Therefore once again you have been proven

  • 2. Gender Stereotypes In Parkchester The South Bronx is an area filled with rich culture and unique qualities. For the past 50 years, it has seen many changes from the shift in ethnicity to the rapid growth in the immigrant population. Commonly known as the Boogie Down , the South Bronx has had its reputation for being the birthplace of hip hop. With the widespread increase of Blacks and Hispanics in the community, the South Bronx has moved from Blacks being the minority of Whites being the minority. This ethic is due to numerous factors that will discuss, in order to see why people have chosen to make in and out of the South Bronx neighborhood of Parkchester. A census conducted throughout the past years will emphasize on the numeric values of this change. Additionally, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of the public schools in the South Bronx are witnessing failing results. Failing schools are a result lack of security. For example, a few years back when I was a high school. My high school located in the South Bronx given all the necessary resources, but failed to provide security. As a result, student brought guns, weapons and sold illegal drugs inside of the school s compound. In relation, to the twentieth century, schools were safer, and the need for security was of less importance. Parks and recreational centers today are being used less by the people of the community. The keys to the parks in Parkchester are given to residents located closer to the park. The opening and closing of the parks depend primarily on the key holder, which is the difference from the past, where everyone was allow coming freely. The reasoning behind not allowing free access to public places is to make it safer. In an effort to make it safer, it is perhaps more dangerous with the illegal entering of criminals, which utilizes the areas as hideout ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Role Of Robots I imagine my future with robots, advanced phone, flying cars and much more. A lot of people think that robots will take over the world and take people s job, etc. Robots are being use to go to war and taking people s jobs. Robots are operating environment, the relatively high initial cost of robots means that they tend to be only used by large companies or in defence. It is unlikely that all the humans will be replaced by robots in any task, it is much more likely that fewer people will be needed because for many years robots will be assistants. Robots are usually thought of as being mobile but they don t have to be. For example, washing machines, dishwashers, and tumble driers can also be thought of as robots. The future is most likely to be one of productivity gains. They are trying to put brains and several sensors and actuators in robots. The technology has been available for many years. The advances happening in technology and it s becoming that evident that computers, machines, robots, and other things are going to be able to do most of the routine, and repetitive types of jobs. A lot of skills levels fall into that category. People with college degrees, even professional degrees, also lawyers are doing things that ultimately are predictable. A lot of those jobs are going to be susceptible over time. Right now there s still a lot of debate over it. There are economists who think it s totally wrong, that problems really stem from things like globalization or the fact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. C. S. Lewis Miracles Essay In the book Miracles C.S. Lewis discusses what miracles are and challenges the reader, Christian or not, to think philosophically on how and why they happen. He uses ideas such as naturalism and supernaturalism to help readers understand the idea of miracles, but also makes sure to point out that miracles do happen, and they happen for a reason. That reason being because God intended them to happen to maintain control on Earth as well as show his sovereignty. Some people may think of things being out of control in the world to be riots, an uncontrollable plague, or even a three year old kid throwing a tantrum, but in reality what if out of control is anything that has resulted from the fall, anything that God had not intended? C.S. Lewis states, By definition, miracles must of course interrupt the usual course of Nature...in the very act of so doing, assert all the more the unity and self consistency of total reality at some deeper level (97). Miracles are not always prevalent at times, but are ways for God to bring the world closer to how He had originally intended the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It seems that much more likely that human thought is not God s but God kindled (44). Lewis explained before that God can interfere in the physical world and that it may interrupt the usual course of nature all the while of asserting self consistency. Humans may decide for themselves what they eat for breakfast on a day to day basis, but in the big scheme of things it is actually God who makes their decisions for them. to realize for the first time how majestically indifferent most reality is to man, and who perhaps abandons his religion on that account, may at that moment be having his first genuinely religious experience (81).God allows humans to make their own decisions, but by making their ultimate ones He is able to guide them back to ... Law Binding Contract Task A Issue The main issue that needs to be addressed here is whether there is binding contract between the two parties, Baldcure Ltd. and Gary Knudenut, and consequently whether Gary can sue under that contract. Rule A contract is a legally enforceable agreement between two or more parties. To be valid, a contract must comprise of the following elements: agreement (offer + acceptance) intention consideration capacity to contract consent legality In order to establish whether there is a binding contract between Gary and Baldcure we need to consider the existence of these elements. Sub Issue 3 The issue that need to be considered further is whether there is an intention to create a legal relationship between Gary and Baldcure Ltd. Rule: In general, intention exists where can be demonstrated that there is an agreement. The law in this area requires an evidence of implied intention of the both parties to be bind by an agreement. (Pentony, 2003, p 57). Two presumptions need to be considered: parties in commercial relationship intend to create a legally binding contract parties in domestic or social relationship do not intend to create a legally binding agreement Balfour v Balfour (1919) 2 KB 571. Application: If we apply the law to the facts, the two parties, Gary and Baldcure have genuine consent to be in a commercial relationship. Conclusion: To conclude, there is a commercial relationship between Gary and Baldcure Ltd and therefore applies the presumption that they intended to enter into a binding agreement. • 6. Holden Caulfield Reliable Narrator The catcher in the rye is by a well known author by the name J.D. Salinger. This book is about a teen named Holden and his story along his life. Throughout this story it s questioned whether Holden is a reliable or unreliable narrator. It s important to know in a book whether the author is reliable and unreliable because it may affect the way that the book is red and processed. Everyone has different feelings about whether Holden is a reliable narrator, but I feel like Holden is an unreliable narrator. As the story progresses Holden points out different characteristics of himself and in one of these incidents he calls himself out on being a liar. • 7. They were not ready for Socrates, therefore they took him to trail, and where he was sentenced to death for his believes. I think there are several different meanings for his statement. Was he right, was the jury right in sentencing him to death and what was the outcome of his death? There is not a clear way to say if Socrates was right or wrong in his statement, but in my opinion he was a brave man. Who was these people to say if Socrates was wrong in teaching or speaking his beliefs? The philosopher felt that, what he said was true, and stood up for it no matter the cost. The jury found Socrates guilty by a vote of 280 to 221. That was a close vote, for a man who so many said was wrong. Socrates expected to lose much more than this. Meletus proposed the death penalty, and Socrates was asked to propose a different form of punishment. Being the person Socrates was he doesn t ask himself what penalty he wants to pay, but what penalty he deserves. He feels as if he cannot propose an appropriate penalty when he has not intentionally wronged anybody. Even so, he rejects most of the penalties the jury might consider to be acceptable. Being held in prison would leave him under the control of someone else. Banishment would just send him to wander from town to town. Socrates, also refused to give up his philosophizing, as it is only through this that he can so his duty to God and purse goodness. • 8. Necropsy Studies Use of necropsy examination as a diagnostic aid to detect bTB Gross PM examination at slaughter houses as well as cattle with suspected clinical manifestations of bTB and died can be used for diagnosis. At necropsy, a tentative diagnosis of bTB can be made by the detection of macroscopic lesions typical of bTB (Ameni et al., 2008).The sensitivity of gross PM examination is affected by the anatomical sites examined and the method practiced (Ameni et al., 2008). Careful examination of LNs (mandibular, medial retropharyngeal, cranial and caudal mediastinal, left and right bronchial, hepatic and mesenteric LNs) and the lungs can result in 95 % of cattle with macroscopic lesions being identified (Ameni et al., 2008). Further, histo pathological examination of the lesions may increase the confidence of the diagnosis. • 9. Defining Abnormality With Consideration of Cultural... Defining Abnormality With Consideration of Cultural Differences Cultural differences are always a problem when defining abnormality. What one would consider completely normal in one culture would be considered abnormal in another, for example the island of Java often set fire to a ball soaked in petrol and then play football with it. Here that would be considered wrong and abnormal but is an everyday occurrence for the people of Java. This concept doesn t only apply to eastern cultures; the English could be defined as abnormal by other cultures definitions, even by other western societies e.g. it would not be considered normal by the Italians to wait at a red light when there are no other cars ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When using this approach to define abnormality you would first have to consider what is normal behaviour for that particular culture otherwise a person could be incorrectly diagnosed as abnormal. Cultural differences are also a problem for the Failure to Function Adequately definition of abnormality. This classification of abnormality involves a person who conforms to their 7 characteristics of the abnormal as having ill mental health. Examples of these characteristics are vividness, unconventionality and observer discomfort. This definition does not state the extent of the characteristic in order for it to be abnormal, for example we could class the Native Americans who perform the sun dance (a ritual which involves ripping ropes out of the chests of dancers) as abnormal as we would experience discomfort from watching this behaviour, whilst Native Americans take great joy in this activity and it us used as part of their celebrations. Other attempts to define abnormality are also limited by cultural differences, for example the DSM refers only to disorders found in westerners, it does not mention culture bound syndromes, for example Koro which is found solely in South East Asia and Pibloqtoq which occurs mainly in cold climates e.g. Greenland Alaska and the Canadian Arctic. Rachel Cohn is an American young adult fiction writer . Her first book, Gingerbread, was published in 2002. (Teen Reads, 2016). • 11. A Survey of Tragedy A Survey of Tragedy A modern tragedy of today and a tragedy of ancient Greece are two very different concepts, but ironically, both are linked by many similarities. In Poetics , Aristotle defines and outlines tragedy for theatre in a way that displays his genius, but raises questions and creates controversy. Aristotle s famous definition of tragedy states: A tragedy is the imitation of an action that is serious, and also as having magnitude, complete in itself in language with pleasurable accessories, each kind brought in separately in the parts of the work; in a dramatic, not in a narrative form: with incidents arousing pity and fear; wherewith to accomplish its catharsis of such emotions. In Oedipus the King , Sophocles characterization of the protagonist is in near perfect compliance with the traits Aristotle outlined in Poetics . In the first scene, the foundation is laid showing King Oedipus as a good and kind King. He speaks with the city elder, showing his compassion and promising to relieve the city of Thebes of a plague. As the story line plays out, Oedipus s character flaws of anger and compulsiveness begin to appear. These defects force the king into situations he would have been better to avoid, including his own fate death or banishment. When an Oracle reveals the prophecy that Oedipus will kill his father and marry his mother, Oedipus leaves his comfortable life with King Polybus of Corinth and his wife Merope, who he believes are his biological parents. On his way to the city of Thebes, Oedipus kills a stranger on the road who turns out to be Laius, King of Thebes and unbeknownst to him, his biological father. When Oedipus arrives in Thebes he saves the city from the curse of the Sphinx, as a result is made King and marries the dead King s Queen, Jocasta, his mother, thus fulfilling the prophecy. Oedipus is a victim of his own destiny and despite doing everything right; there s nothing he could have done that would have changed his life. Secret Intelligence Service Research Paper The Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), also referred by MI6 (Military Intelligence, Section 6), which is responsible for offering British government and military foreign intelligence, was founded over 100 years ago. Yet, its existence had been kept as secret for almost a century and was revealed in 1993. At the end of the second world war, after absorbing the remans of the Special Operations Executives (SOE) the SIS expanded their faculties and started a new agenda: against Soviet Union. In the first half of Cold War era, MI6 s operations against the Soviet Union were undermined by the numerous Soviet s agents who were in the vital position inside the British Intelligence System, both MI5 and MI6. Kim Philby who joined MI6 in 1940 was part of the disreputable Cambridge Spies which consisted of three other graduated students from the University of Cambridge s Donald Maclean, Anthony Blunt, Guy Burgess and Philby. Examples Of Female Oppression In The Yellow Wallpaper Female Oppression in The Yellow Wallpaper Charlotte Perkins Gillman s The Yellow Wallpaper approaches some often overlooked topics in literature including how men and women interact differently when it comes to serious situations such as how to help someone who is greatly suffering from a mental affliction. The narrator of the text is Jane, and her husband John is incidentally making her mental illness worse while he is in fact trying to help her get better. John is not a bad person. John becomes exactly what he is trying to prevent his wife from coming. He viewed Jane s femininity as a weakness and tried to do everything in his power to make sure she was rested and did not push herself too hard. Yet, John was the one who fainted, which is usually considered a predominantly feminine trait. His fainting demonstrates the fragility of masculinity. John ends up representing his own hidden femininity when he faints. It is often considered the job of the man of the family to be strong and to protect the weaker sex. John s fainting ends up proving that both men and women can experience high levels of distress when something serious happens. John treats Jane like she is fragile and breakable, but it seems like he is just as fragile and breakable, if not more so. Even though John ignores Jane when she tells him what she thinks would be better for herself John is also denying himself the ability to show compassion to his struggling wife. We have described various probabilistic classifiers for sentiment analysis problem in the next subsection. 4.1.1.4.1 Naive Bayes Classifier (NB). It is the frequently used classifier in sentiment analysis. In sentiment analysis, naive Bayes classifier calculates the posterior probability of either positive class or negative class depending on the sentiment words distributed over the document. The work of naïve Bayes classifier is based on the Bag of word extraction of features in which the word s position is overlooked in the whole text. This classifier uses the Bayes theorem. It calculates the probability for the sentiment word in a document and tells whether that word belongs to the positive or negative class. The probability can be calculated using the given formula. This assumption results in Bayesian Network. • 16. Censorship Is A Way Of Regulating Information Censorship Censorship is a way of regulating and examining various forms of media available to the general public. It occurs in different contexts, including books, films, art plays, radios, television programs, news, internet and communications. Censorship can be achieved by prior restraint, which consists of licensing system where a work has to be submitted before publication or court injunction prohibiting dissemination of information (Cohen 11). This type of censorship prevents certain materials from being published. On the other hand, censorship can also be achieved by suppressing ideas found to be objectionable or offensive (Cohen 11). This indicates that censorship can be practiced in different forms and it can occur either before or after a work s publication. According to Mark Cohen Censorship in Canadian literature , a censor is one who exercises official supervision over morals and conduct (3). There is always a driving factor behind censorship. One might argue that censors want to control the minds of young, because students who read might learn to think and question them. This might be taken as a tool of government control over its citizens. Throughout history censorship has become an enemy of freedom and democracy (Cohen 5). Evidently this has not worked. The course pack talks about the differences of ideologies being because of different languages, assumptions, and cultural views. In order to narrow the gap we need to understand these differences on both sides to a greater extent. Beliefs and culture were vastly different between Canada and the Aboriginals which lead to certain actions made by the government. For example the First Nations believe in elders educating their children through stories and the children learning through experiences. Canadians did not recognize this form of teaching and so assumed they did not have any education in place. The same thing happened with religion and law and the Canadians thought they would be helping the First Nations but in reality all they caused was confusion and a divide between two cultures as a result of their ignorance to understand any view other than their own. With the increase in the number of democracies post Cold War, this contemporary question is one, which many scholars of International Relations aim to answer. Whilst many scholars may argue that spreading democracy will make the world a more peaceful place, as claimed with the democratic peace theory, it is necessary to look at factors other than democracy that lead to world peace. By understanding factors such as common cultures allowing for international cooperation, the weaknesses of democratic institutions in prohibiting warfare and the importance of economy to states highlight that it is more than just democracy that leads to international harmony, and that perhaps liberal democracies more so than just democracy itself will allow for greater global amity. Arguably peace and democracy are equally ambiguous words. Peace, internationally involves a lack of armed conflicts, encompassing the idea that states will not wage war against each other resulting in physical or economic losses. . However, peace at a state level is when there is civil order within the country and citizens are content with their human rights and civil liberties . It is even common for adults not to have any memory before the age of six or seven. The absence of memory in these first years has sparked much interest as to how and why it happens. Ever since Freud (1916/1963) first popularized the phenomenon there have been many questions and few robust empirical studies. Contributing factors to this are family stories, photographs, home movies, etc. The variance of memories between participants also makes it hard to convert what is reported into significant terms.
