Have you ever remembered the time people against the consumption of alcoholic beverages? It was
the temperance movement which began in the early 19th century in order to reduce drunkenness.
Nevertheless, the temperance movement promoted government to make the prohibition in the
society. Citizens were not allowed to drink the alcohol and banned the alcoholic affected America to
maintain their social harmony. Moreover, citizens especially the drinkers children developed more
slowly and they were more liable to the accident so that the temperance movementcan easily

influential event in the U.S. History.
People in the early 19th century, which the period following the America revolution that people

at that time. For example, there caused a vast amount of traffic accidents and the violence. Also, if

government must take part in the movement and realized how this would affect the society because
they have the responsibility to protect citizens. It was then that Prohibition made a meaningful
accomplishment which stopped a few of people drinking too much alcohol. It was the time the
government put their effort into the country based on the temperance movement in order to adjust

Bruno Bettelheim
In Bruno Bettelheim s essay, The Child s Need for Magic , he talks about how a child and an
adult s ways of viewing the world and answering questions can differ. Bettelheim says that adults
use science to figure out why certain things happen, while a child uses stories they hear to figure
out the reason of why certain things happen. The examples Bettelheim uses for stories a child
could hear are myths, fairy tales, and the Bible, which he says can be distinguish from each
other by the way they solve problems. In the author s point of view, myths have one set fictional
way of solving a problem, fairy tales can have multiple ways to solve a problem, and the Bible
gives hope to people that if they act a certain way to situations their problems will be solved for

Bettelheim says that, Fairy tales leave to the child s fantasizing whether and how to apply to
himself what the story reveals about life and human nature (319). This means that the child will
use things he sees in the fairy to explain how to deal with certain situations. One example
Bettelheim uses for this is how a kid will try to talk to a new person who sees scary at first,
because in some fairy tales the scary looking characters can have a kind personality under their
looks and the main character will usually befriend

maxine hingston Assess the claim that social class differences in educational achievement are
primarily the result of school factors
Social class background has a powerful influence on a child s chances of success in the education
system. Children from middle class families on average perform better than children from working
class families and the gap between middle and working class educational achievement gets bigger
as children get older. Internal factors, also known as school factors, these are factors inside the
education system, such as a students subcultures, teacher labeling and language codes also affect a

Labeling theory is also to deterministic; it says that once you re negatively labeled that s it, you ll
fail this isn t always the case. Some sociologist may argue that even though working class
students are often labeled and streamed into low achieving section, they are far from discouraging
students, it often makes students more likely to want to work hard to prove their teachers wrong.
This was proved in research in which black young girls were streamed into lower ability classes,
and were then determined to do better than they would have if they were labeled as high achievers.
Negative labelling and putting students into different streams or bands can cause some pupils to
rebel against school values. As a response to negative labelling and frustration with low status,
pupils may form antmaxine hingstoni school subcultures or vice versa and create a pro school
subculture.
Hargreaves said there were two distinctive subcultures emerged within the school; conformist and
non conformist delinquents. Hargreaves found that those in bottom setting and streaming groups

lots of different reactions to school, but non conformist reactions were more likely to come from

Pluralist Perspective Case Study
Unitarist Perspective often refers workforce as a team and frequently associated with management.
This implies the idea of organization as a harmonious team or family. It often used the term we in
their mission statement, suggesting that all employees has the same mind and where the
organization and all the members of the staff are sharing a common purpose, emphasizing mutual
cooperation(Naukrihub, 2007). Thus they set a common values, interest and objectives. It practices
paternalistic approach where it requires on all employees loyalty , being primarily managerial in its
emphasis and application.
There are two implication of this perspective, first is that conflict is the result of employees

These unions have a right to challenge the employer or management. (Lewis, Thornhill, Saunders,
2003) added that the unions also have the responsibility to seek negotiations. This make certain that
conflict, which in any organizational setting are inevitable, are settle d and the concerned parties
are in good working relationship. However, this form of relationship also brings disadvantages:
first, it might portray power imbalance between parties that have varying interest, aims and
aspiration(Rose 2008). Rose further added the second weakness of pluralism is that it emphasizes
more on the support of efficient, rational and effective management of conflicts within the
organization. Hence, according to (Bray, Waring, Cooper, 2011) the third disadvantage of pluralism
is that it is indeterminate and open minded. This makes a underlying structural resentment that has
the ability to result in more conflicts in both workplace and the labor market. This open
mindedness makes a room for more conflicts as employees have the right to present varied ideas
that might not comply to organizational

Snuff Films Essay
Also known as quot;white heat quot; films and quot;the real thing, quot; the snuff film myth lives
on like Bigfoot, despite the fact that no law enforcement agency in America has publicly admitted
to ever locating one. Alan Sears, former executive director of the Attorney General s commission on
pornography during 1985 86, agrees with the more than two dozenlaw enforcementagencies I
interviewed. quot; Our experience was that we could not find any such thing as a commercially
produced snuff film, quot; says Sears. quot; Our commission was all inclusive and exhaustive. If
snuff filmswere available, we d have found them. quot;

In 1990 The Times printed a story recounting a 1975 American investigation in which police had
discovered evidence of Mexican immigrants being killed in snuff films, quot;in lurid detail to
satisfy the insatiable demands of the pornography industry. quot; It goes on to tell the story of a
Californian who in 1985 murdered 25 women on film; video tapes of the actual killing were said
to be doing a thriving business at video rental stores.
In the same Times piece, Dr. Ray Wyre, clinical director of the Gracewell Clinic for convicted
paedophiles in Birmingham, England, is quoted as having viewed snuff films firsthand in America.
When contacted, however, Wyre indicated that the films he saw were quot;sophisticated

snuff films were definitely available in England, but that he had never seen one.
Detective Mick Hames, head of the Obscene Publications Division at Scotland Yard, responded to
Wyre s assertions. quot;I d be the first to know if there were any in Britain, quot; says Hames.

A Society Of Family Life
A Society of Family Life (The Changing Nature of Childhood) by Deborah Chambers explores
further into post divorce families and the impact of new media, discovering the effects it has on
young people and children in family homes. Chamber s also addresses aspects such as race, ethnic
identity and gender comparing individual values to cultural customs of today s society and the
diversity of familylife. This paper will mainly review post divorceoutcomes involving financial and
social criteria controlling divorce in different societies, the influential responses formed by children
and young people and raising tensions between parents and children due to use of new media.
Within the article, Chamber s expresses the range of diversity seen in family life, especially valuing
the different cultures involved. Her in depth analysis of class, consumption and childhood explores
further into the changing era of families, whether this includes divorce, media or past ideas of
children should be seen not heard. To support this, Chamber s cites cultural capital is a resource or
set of values and knowledge referring to the educational and cultural assets imparted by families to
their children ensuring they develop social mobility. In agreement to this, Bandura (1977)
mentioned by Hunter Jones (2014) believed children are thought to learn from their parents
through the process of observation and imitation. Chamber s includes a range of theories and
research to expand and develop her views

What Does God Mean To Me Essay
God is everywhere, God watches and cares for you and is something different to everyone. To
me, God is a higher power that is always there to comfort you and forgives you no matter what.
God watches over you, protects you, and cares for you. Whenever I am either confused or in
need of some advice, I know that God is always there to help me. Additionally, the images and
ideas that I have about God are that God is in everything. He is in the plants and nature s beauty,
and in dogs and other living things. I know I see God in things when I need the advice. For
example, when I have a hard day and I come home and my dog is excited to see me, I see that
God is watching out for me and wants me to realize that someone or something is always excited
to see me. It helps me see the glass half full instead of half empty. Lastly, some significant events
that have shaped my view of God and who he is to me are hiking and school. Whenever I go
hiking and see the beauty around me that God has created in this world, I change my view on
him and realize the beauty God creates. Additionally, when I go to school my image of God
changes too. In class, whenever other people bring up their perspectives of God and where they
see him, I think back to my image of God and how what someone said affects my image or changes
it. Overall, God is a provider and someone who watches over me through nature and other living
things. Additionally, throughout our world, there are many issues that the Catholic

Sarbanes-Oxley s Code Of Ethics
First, we need to grasp how Codes of ethics were created and if formulated from a standard
boilerplate Ethics program. As stated by FindLaw.com under Corporate Ethics and Sarbanes
Oxley, in order to create code of ethics, an organization must define its most important guiding
values, formulate behavioral standards to illustrate the application of those values to the roles
and responsibilities of the persons affected, review the existing procedures for guidance and
direction as to how those values and standards are typically applied, and establish the systems
and processes to ensure that the code is implemented and effective. (Navran, 2003) A company
can work to promote ethical behavior; however, the process is not easily created from boilerplate.

Southwest Airlines Aphorism
Introduction
Many organizations implement a strategic plan to grow their company or take a step towards
success. The result of that plan is either efficacious or a failure. Southwest Airlines Corporation is
no exception to the rule. Their success is based on a few key components that have kept them as a
profitable company, with happy employees and customers.
History and mission of the organization
Southwest Airlines Corporation, which was essentially established in 1971, has become one of
the most well known airlines to date. The cofounder, Herb Kelleher, had a simple motto to follow
when he began the company: If you get your passengers to their destinations when they want to
get there, on time, at the lowest possible fares, and make darn sure they have a good time doing it,
people will fly your airline (About Southwest, n.d., p. 1). This is a pretty simple concept, in that as
a corporation you take care of your customers and employees and in turn you will have a higher
morale within the organization. In addition, a higher customer gratification will be a result of Mr.
Kelleher s astute aphorism. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the low fares they provide for their flights. Kelleher emphasizes about this in his interview
with Chuck Lucier, a senior vice president emeritus of Booz Allen Hamilton. Kelleher speaks
about the profitability of Southwest, about the reliability of its employers, and the dependability
of customers to be able to fly at the lowest rate possible and to be able to travel within the
timeframe that they demand (Lucier, 2004, paras. 1 7). In my personal experiences, in flying on a
number of flights with several different airlines, I have found the mission statement to be true. I
use Southwest Airlines as a starting point to look for flights simple because of their low fares are
usually the best bargain, in addition to their flexible flight

Benefits Of Aquatic Therapy For Patients With Low Back Pain
if you are suffering chronic back pain being in warm water will cause vasodilation which will help
lead blood towards the area of pain.1
Cold water can cause vasoconstriction which will help stop the blood from running to an area of
acute injury. A systematic review by Waller , Lambeck , and Daly, composed of 37 aquatic
therapy studies with 1007 participants, and picked 7 of those studies and used McGill Pain
Questionnaire, Oswestry Disability Index, the number of work days lost from low back pain, and
subjective assessment scale for pain to measure the outcomes. The SIGN 50 and PEDro scale
assessment forms were used to assess the methodological quality. The results showed that aquatic
therapy has a beneficial effect on low back pain, but, is no better than any other intervention.8 This
study demonstrated that aquatic therapy can be beneficial for patients with low back pain but are
not the only intervention that can help low back pain. A study by Baena Beato, Artero, Arroyo
Morales, Robles Fuentes, Gatto Cardia, and Delgado FernГЎndez, study with forty nine
participants with low back pain, and split them into three groups active, waiting list, and
controlled group. The active group was then split into two months or five times/week. Participants
on the waiting list were part of the control group but were offered aquatic therapy after the follow
up period of the study. The active group showed huge improvements in decreased disability and

Social Problem Of Violence Against Women
Violence against women is huge social problem. It is not just a women s problem but also a men s
problem. Violence against women is seen everywhere in the world, especial those who live in more
patriarchal society. We are in a world where we see violence against women as a big issue but we
have done very little to dissolve it. Violenceagainst women is everywhere, at home, at the
workplace, and even outside, in the places in between. Violence against women does not
discriminate, it touches every race and at every age. Many violence against women are left
without punishment. No matter how small or how big the violence is, it needs to be addressed.
Violence against women is very much workplace as any other place. Violence against women is
mostly seen when the person initiating violence is in a higher position then a women. This leads to
many acts of violence left unpunished or resolved. Because those initiating the violence is mostly

Candide Paper
Candide is a fictional satire of the optimism many philosophers had for life in general during the
mid 1700 s written in response to Alexander Pope s An Essay on Man. Written by Voltaire, the
literary alias of Francois Marie Arouet, the satire covers religion, the wealthy, love, why people
thought natural disasters occurred and especially, philosophy. The novel even goes on to make fun
of the art of literature by giving ridiculous chapter headings. Just about everything Voltaireput into
Candideis designed to question and satirize real world injustices. In effect Candide is the 18th
century equivalent of a modern day sitcom (Shmoop).

One example of the sarcasm on this subject is found in the scene where Candide is about to save
an Anabaptist who had just fallen into a heavy seas. This Anabaptist was responsible for nursing
both Candide and Dr. Pangloss, a philosopher back to health. He had fallen into the sea as a
result of rescuing a falling sailor. When Candide got ready to go in after the Anabaptist but Dr.
Pangloss stopped him telling him that the water was there put there for the purpose of drowning
the Anabaptist. Scenes like this appear and play out so quickly the audience is left asking
themselves, Did that really just happen? The scene is so ludicrous that nobody can take it
seriously and therefore it is perceived as a joke. By creating such a silly way in which philosophy
is used, Voltaire gives the audience a reason to laugh at would otherwise be thought of as a serious
subject.
In addition to Philosophy, Voltaire also ridicules complacency throughout the entirety of his
novel. Complacency is shown as a product of the philosophical ideas portrayed through Candide
and in many scenes is the only reason that things are allowed to go from bad to worse. It is
displayed while the Anabaptist is drowning and again during the earthquake is Lisbon. During
this scene, Candide is begging for help after being hit in the head by a piece of a building and
buried by rubble. However, Dr. Pangloss would rather philosophize about why an

Freedom, worried individuals and states rights. In speeches and writings he argued that
government must play a larger role in the national life in order to preserve the economic and

The Underwood Simmons Tariff provided cuts significant enough to introduce real competition
into American markets and thus to help break the power of trust. To make up for the loss of
revenue under the new tariff, Congress approved a graduated income tax, which the Sixteenth

$4,000 a year, with rates ranging up to 6% on incomes over $500,000. Wilson also worked with
Congress on a major reform of the American banking system, the Federal Reserve Act. It created
twelve regional banks, each to be owned by the individual banks of its district. The regional
Federal Reserve banks would hold a certain percentage of the assets of their member banks in

Wonder Wom The Feminist Symbol Behind The Bracelets
Wonder Woman: The Feminist Symbol Behind The Bracelets
Wonder Woman is seen as being American, but in reality she is a Greek demigod. The amazonian
superhero battles formidable Greek deities with an arsenal of weapons that were magically
enhanced by the gods of Olympus. Those weapons include classics such as a sword and shield, and
also includes a lasso a. She possesses superhuman abilities that were blessed to her by the gods and
they included Hermes, Aphrodite, Artemis, Hestia, and Demeter. Her amazonian origin creates
powerful symbolism for women everywhere and she provides women with strength. To truly
understand Wonder Woman you must know of her origin.
Created out of clay by her mother Hippolyta the queen of the Amazons Wonder Woman was given
life from the the gods of ancient Greece. She is arguably immortal due to her home on the island
of Themyscira. Themyscira is where she was born; the island has been separated from the evils of
man for thousands of years. Hippolyta named her daughter Diana, after the Roman goddess of the
moon and hunt. The Amazons original purpose was to protect man s world, but they abandoned
their original purpose and chose to live in seclusion for thousands of years. Diana disagreed with
the Amazon s decision to separate from mankind and believed that the Amazons should integrate
back into man s society, but Hippolyta believed that the Amazons have no place in man s society.

such an established business to work for community development. Therefore, as a consultant I
would like to suggest the following road map for the purpose of achieving the goals of community
development spend its resources constructively for skill developmentand Primary health.
Strategic options:
Community Development is a process strengthening the society in which an organisation operates
with the aim of enhancing the mental and physical capacity of people to enable them to serve the
society in a better way.

Cultural Aspects:
Culture is something which cannot be ignored while implementing any kind of strategies in any
kind of organisation. This is because if any organisation ignores the cultural aspect of any given
community then the chance for its survival reduces to minimum.
Therefore, before spending such huge sums on nation building a thorough study of the cultures and
the sub cultures relating to the particular community is an absolute necessity to ensure its
successful implementation.
This is particularly because in case a skill development programme requires all the ladies to work
for longer shifts in order to enhance their capabilities but in a particular culture women are not
allowed to work after dark then in that case such a development programme cannot be implemented
because such a policy is against the norms of that culture.
Therefore, any organisation should be most careful while studying the culture of a particular
community because it is its most sensitive part particularly in a country like India.
Economy:
Economic situation of a country and the organisation opting for such developmental programmes is
of utmost importance.
First and the foremost aim of any business is its survival. Therefore,

Hadgraft and Newstetter (2011, p.134), PBL is the approach that allows learners to practice
finding solutions throughout their academy. Learners in a PBL process have to reflect, identify and
learn about the complex problem and the cycle is repeated until learners find a solution that they
can do both in writing and presentation. There are some basics of PBL such as decision making,
communication, collaboration, self regulation, self motivation and flexibility. These basics are the
base for every engineerto become a successful professional practicing engineer.
Decision making ability helps engineers to learn deeply from the problems and have ability to
analyse and get the detail of the problems before planning to solve them. Deep learners focus on the
problem carefully and get all information about it. Lizinger, Lattuca, Hadgraft and Newstetter
(2011, p.126) state that the experiences of the effective learning from deep learning leads learners
to understand key words and general principle to develop both technic and profession. Not only
deep learning, decision making ability improves

Literature And Songs Of Hebrew Literature
The people in mid 19th century, up until the beginning of 20th century, before the British
.helped to declare Israel a state; around Eastern Europe, the idea of nationality began to appear.
Up until now, Jewish people hadn t established a foundation that provided them with security;
there was no real place they could call home. Because they didn t have a place that was their
own, other nations around the world didn t view them as a nation, they were seen as
individuals. Around this time, anti Semitism began to emerge, it was time for the Jewish people
to come together as one and let go of their past and that desire drove them to a pivotal point in
Jewish history. By analyzing different pieces of Hebrew literature and songs that were written
during this time in history, the evidence shows that the definition of Jew changed and Jewish
people started to look at themselves differently and gained confidence to be a nation and not an
individual. Avraham Shlonsky wrote a poem titled Tiller of the Soil characterizes and defines
the Jew and his/her hard work for the land and their passion for it. The way Shlonsky uses the
words and play on words emphasizes the point of a hard working Jew. One of the lines that
Shlonsky states is, Never before was the distance so small, Between man, And camel, And sky.
This statement that he makes illustrates how the people are united with the land and their God, it
also expresses the feeling they ve always hoped and prayed for. Shlonsky

Essay on The Causes of World War I
The Causes of World War I It has been suggested that naval rivalry was the main cause of World
War One because, this was one of the most significant causes of tension between some of the most
powerful countries in Europe. I strongly agree that this contributed to World War One but there are
also several other factors that have to be considered such as the Assassination of Archduke Franz
Ferdinand, the First Moroccan Crisis, the Second Moroccan Crisis, the Balkan Wars and the Arms
Race. Naval Rivalry When Kaiser Wilhelm announced that he intended to build a powerful navy in
1898.Britains natural reaction was to feel very threatened and intimidated, especially since Britain

shots. Sophie was killed instantly and Franz died minutes later. This lead to Austria Hungary
producing a lengthy list of demands to Serbia, which were to be completed within 48 hours.
Serbia could not comply with all the demands and on July 28 1914 Austria Hungary declared

The Natural Environment And The Human Race
Humans have been intervening in nature for the past 200 milleniums. The natural environment and
the human race have evolved together side by side. However, throughout the past few centuries,
many ethical questions have been brought up regarding how the human race interacts with nature.
As our factories and civilizations increase and expand, so does our footprint. One fairly recent
ethical concern is the act of hunting. Hunting has been a staple in the evolution of the humanrace.
The harvesting of animals has provided humans with many valuable resources necessary to survive.
Alice Walker, Aldo Leopold, and many other professionals have studied, researched, and written
about their views and findings on this matter. Once all of the information has been examined and
digested, one can come to a conclusion that is held by hunters and conservationists alike. Hunting is
in fact a human intrusion on nature that poses many ethical concerns and among these are hunting
for necessity, population control, and sport/prosperity; however, if hunting is done in a principled
and legal manner, the act is inherently just.
Alice Walker speaks of how the Native Americans treated animals like humans and only killed when
it was necessary for their survival. The European immigrants and their descendants have inherited
an extremely bad reputation as being unethical hunters. One Native American group is quoted by
Alice Walker saying, The whites did not kill them to eat; they killed them for the metal

The Role Of Railroads In American Industrialization
In nineteenth century America, the development of railroads had often been linked with The
annihilation of time and space . In the nineteenth century, the United States had not seen a means of
transportation with as much potential to drastically change various aspects of daily life as the
railroad. While today railroads may be viewed as a dated and ineffective method of transportation,
they played a tremendous role in the United Statesconversion to an industrialized nation and
expanding its economy. Although some may view the introduction of canals as the most vital
contributor to American industrialization, the development of rail transportwas the most beneficial

They had the ability to expand the national market like never before. In their publication, authors
Olson and Kenny inform that, Railroads not only became the country s first corporate giants but
also stimulated the coal, iron, and steel industries and linked the different regions of the country
into a single national market that provided new opportunities for manufacturers (The Industrial
Revolution: Key Themes and Documents). The increased popularity in railroading led to an
increase demand for resources needed in the expansion of the nation s railway system. A few
markets that benefited greatly from this demand were those supplying coal and steel. The heavy
demand for steel was caused by the need for railroad companies to forge more railway tracks, while
the increase demand in coal was used to fuel the locomotives once they were on the tracks.
Furthermore, the rise in popularity and expansion of the railway system allowed manufacturers to
reach a potential consumer base that would not be available to them otherwise. While discussing
railroads abilities to increase economic productivity Kenny and Olson inform that, Such booming
opportunities to sell stimulated the need for, and therefore the development of, mass production
technologies and monumental increases in the size of business enterprises (The Industrial

people lively with the palm trees moving along like they were jamming to a song. When we

The Lord Of The Screw And Northanger Abbey
The Role of the Innocent Heroine in Turn of the Screw and Northanger Abbey
The function of the innocent heroine in gothic literature is, primarily, to follow her curiosity into
the deepest, darkest corners of an appropriate gothic setting, uncover some awful secret contained
therein, and do a lot of running around in her nightgown to be saved at the appropriate moment by
a strong, capable suitor. In both Northanger Abbeyby Jane Austen, and The Turn of the Screw by
Henry James this trope is challenged, with both books presenting us with a slightly different
version of the gothic heroine. Northanger Abbey gives us Catherine Morland, with her own
knowledge of the gothic genre through the books she has read herself, and a propensity for
common sense over hysteria. This foreknowledge and self awareness creates a very different
heroine than the typical gothic damsel in distress, and allows for Jane Austen to explore and
parody the gothic genre instead of adhering to its every rule. The Turn of the Screw gives us the
governess, who appears at first to follow the gothic heroine trope; young and pure of heart and
motive, but who must also fill the role of both innocent heroine and protective hero. As the story
progresses, doubt begins to fall on the governess sanity and motives. This essay will compare and
contrast the treatment of these two gothic heroines, explore the different ways the characters
challenge the innocent heroine trope, and discuss the effect this has on the

The Start Of A Great Adventure Essay
The start of a great adventure, begins with the idea of becoming more then yourself. The first
time I started thinking about what career I wanted was in third grade as a kid. Are teachers just
simple asked us who do you want to be when you grow up? I was probing my mind for this
answer, but couldn t not found the answer. I said the basic thing every kid would say I would
like to be a veterinarian. I figured that would be good career because I loved animals and it doesn
t pay to bad. My mind kept that question till I found an answer that made sense in what I want to
be. The start is always a difficult thing to do in founding out what you really want to be. I know
what I wanted as much as anybody. I wanted a house, a wife, and kids living in a nice place that
my kids will be able to grow and love. I also wanted to be a nutritionist, engineer, architect, sports
medicine, and something related to sports. As I was comparing the many majors and how I am I
noticed a pattern. I like the idea of creating things, helping others, and hands on activities. That is
the reason I went with physical therapybecause it is close to sports, hands on, and helping others.
When choosing my major, I couldn t just apply for the program. I had to have a undergraduate
degree before hand. The reason being is that it is a Doctorate degree and I have to complete certain
requirements to apply for it before I actually can do it. It really doesn t matter what major I go for

The Australasian system of legal practice is derived from the United Kingdom which is from the
British settlers in Australia. The legislations laws are formulated by the legislators which is the
parliament of the state and the commonwealth countries. The law of the state must be consistent
with the laws of the commonwealth. It means that any law that is not consistent with the
commonwealth law in Australia is rendered invalid. This presents a significant impact on the
same sex marriage debate. Before the changes in the Marriage Act, the definition of the term
marriage was derived from the UK case. The common law is administered by the courts. The
courts are bound by the principles of precedent which requires the court to adhere to the previous
decisions of superior courts. This brings consistency and prediction in the practice of the common
law. Marriage is Australia governed by the Commonwealth marriage Act of 1961 that defines
marriage as the union of a man and a woman to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into
for life. The constitution gives power to the commonwealth to come up with laws on marriage
which it shares with the states. There must be vows or exchange of words for a marriage in
addition to all other recognized ceremonies of different religion.
Same sex marriage is recognized as de facto unions in the federal laws of Australia. However each

Relationship Between Sexuality And Identity
Discuss the relationship between sexuality and identity in Fun home.
This essay will be examining the relationship between sexuality and identity in the book, Fun
Home (2006) by Alison Bechdel. Bechdel s memoir Fun Home explores the way gender and sexual
identity play important roles in the world. It frames the discovery that Bechdel when she was a
young girl realised she was a lesbian, whilst at the same time finding out that her father is also
homosexual and had been sexually active with males throughout his marriage to her mother,
destroying their relationship. Through the use of visual comic pictures and writing, the books
central themes challenge cultural norms of sexual and gender identity. It questions how associated
a daughters open lesbian identity is with her fathers closeted gay one. Bechdel s sexual discovery
throughout the book, is always linked to her father Bruces sexual identity and it is possible to say
that it had an effect on her own sexuality. She provides the reader with a sample of the identity
struggle both her and her father suffered with to illustrate the experience they both had. The images
within the text give only a small amount of information, where as the text is the most important
element. This essay will explore whether sexuality and identity can be seperated, or whether your
sexuality frames who you are with reference to Watson (2008), Freud (1920) and Fantasia (2011),

It should be noted however, that the degree of such hearing loss depends on the noise level itself,
the length of exposure to the individual and the hearer s individual susceptibility . Interestingly
enough a 3dB difference is noticeable to the average person, while a reduction of 10dB is
perceived by the human ear as a 50% reduction of noise (Thomson, p.1).
Evidence suggests that after an initial adjustment to a particular noise environment, people become
less, rather than more, tolerant of continued exposure to aircraft noise (Stevenson, p. 17). This
would seem to contradict with air industry supporters who have tried to paint the noise mitigation
issue as a nuisance , something to adapt to. The U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. William H. Stewart,

A Community Of Nobodies Of The Modern World
It is dangerous that we lose our bearings as we struggle at and with margins and marginalized
people, and they are often forgotten in our lives (EG #54). They are addicts, victims of the ism, the
throwaways of the modern world (refugees, migrants, and survivors of war), handicapped, and
challenged disabilities. They form a community of nobodies and Jesusis among them. As authentic
disciples, we should question ourselves that where their places are in our ministry. What are
locking our sight and our mind to see and reach them?
Being with, converting to, working from, and serving at the margins are what Jesus did to enter
deeper into human world. From divine to human, from human to stranger, and from stranger to
obedient death, and from suffering to glory, Jesus became incarnate among us as both humanly
divine and divinely human. He shows us the possibility of conversion from ethnocentrism, a
transformation from monocultural orientations to intercultural orientation. In other words, such
conversion is the facility to move from one s own worldview to that of another. Certainly, we must
agree that to be marginal persons in ministry, we need the qualities such as faithfulness, trust,
respect, listening, openness, and acceptance. Although ethnocentrism is like a shadow, it does not
become a stumbling block if we carefully enter the world of others. Then, we trust in the work of
the Holy Spirit for our conversion towards intercuturality.

In recent years, environmental sustainability has risen to become an everyday concern. The impact
of the current drought and extreme weather events such as Cyclone Larry on Australian fresh
produce supplies has brought into focus the effects that climate change will have on our business.
Paying attention to sustainability is about future proofing our business.
It s about leadership.
We recognise that Woolworths can take a more prominent role in the debates around sustainability.
It is fair to say that Australian and New Zealand retailers have lagged behind companies in the
United Kingdom and Europe. So we are committed not just to contributing to the debate but to
taking specific, measurable actions to improve our performance. By virtue of our size, scale, and
the complexity of our business, Woolworths is a significant player in the Australian and New
Zealand economies. With that profile comes not only a responsibility to understand and manage our
impacts, but also a tremendous opportunity to achieve lasting and beneficial change that extends
beyond our own operations. We aim to move to a leadership position on sustainability.
It s about listening.
As our knowledge of the way in which human societies impact on the natural world develops,
society s expectations of corporate conduct have evolved. Quite rightly, our stakeholders expect us
to consider the broader, long term implications of our operations as a part of our decision making

Early Onset Anorexia
In recent years, it seems that the public has begun to pay more attention to eating disorders. This
trend could be a consequence of the heightened nutrition and fitness craze that the 1990 s has

defined definitions of anorexia and bulimia in the DSM IV may also have contributed to better

Anorexia nervosa is a disorder that in the majority of cases will start when the patient is a

Statistics Overview
Statistics provides us with very useful tools and techniques that aide us in dealing with real world
scenarios. I have been able to learn several useful concepts by studying statistics that can aide me in
making rational and informed decisions that are supported by the analysis results. Statistics as a
discipline is the application and development of various processes put in place to gather, interpret,
and analyse the information. The quantification of biological, social, and scientific phenomenons,
design and analysis of experiments and surveys, and application of ... Show more content on

Each statistic in the descriptive form lowers the quantity of data into a much simpler summary.
Inferential Statistics Inferential statistics helps us to analyze predictions, inferences, or samples
about a specific population from the observations that they make. With inferential statistics, you
are trying to reach conclusions that extend beyond the immediate data alone (Trochim, 2006).
The goal for this type of data is to review the sample data to be able to infer what the test group
may think. It does this by making judgment of the chance that a difference that is observed
between the groups is indeed one that can be counted on that could have otherwise happened by
coincidence. In order to help solve the issue of generalization, tests of significance are used. For
example, a chi square test or T test provides a person with the probability that the analysis sample
results may or may not represent the respective population. In other words, the tests of significance
provides us the likelihood of how the analysis results might have happened by chance in a scenario
that a relationship may not exist between the variables in regards to the population that is being
studied.
Hypothesis Development and Testing:
Hypothesis testing and development provides a baseline for taking ideas or theories that were
initially created by another person in regards to the markets, economy, or investing and then

Child Atrocities
GONE are the days when children were considered as gifts from God and women were revered as
mothers and sisters. Now girl children have sadly become lucrative business options for many in
India s most literate state.
The alarming rise in the number of child rape cases is a pointer in that direction. Children as young
as 4 years are being raped and brutally killed and the convicts walk free for want of evidence or
exploiting the shoddy rape laws.
As many as 174 cases of rape of the minor girls were registered with the police during the six
month period from January to June 2011, according to figures released by the state police. The
number is very high compared to last few years. The number during the 12 month period in 2010
was 208 and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on the information we rescued the girls.
As per the information available with us, these girls are from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and
Mumbai, Sethi said.
Reportedly, one girl is 17 years old, the rest are around 12 and 13 years. The girls were brought
to Delhi about ten days ago. We are yet to question them on their living conditions as they are still
scared and unable to talk, said Geet adding that the girls will now be taken for a medical
examination.
Meanwhile, Addl DCP (Central) Aslam Khan said, The eight girls were rescued by Rescue
Foundation . We will conduct an ossification test to ascertain their age. They will presently be sent
to the Nirmal Chhaya home care .
Police said the kotha is owned by one Shakuntala and managed by one Jayshree. Police said the
girls will first be questioned and based on their statements, action will be taken against the owner
and the manager
Rangu Souriya grew up in Darjeeling. Among her several childhood memories, she remembers
clearly how young girls in and around Darjeeling used to go missing. Many of them who lived in
the tea gardens and also in the villages were lured by jobs and were trafficked, never to return.
Among her recent memories, she vividly recollects how in 2006, for the first time she rescued a 13
year old girl from Delhi, where she was working as a domestic help. Souriya says the girl, who was
taken there on the pretext of job and had

I Will Take A Sony Dream Machine Model Icf Cs15ip Alarm Clock
Waking up in the morning is a difficult task for some people, whereas for others waking up may
seem like a natural routine. Well for those people who have a hard time waking up or just
wanting to get up at a specific time there was a device invented called the alarm clock. This device
was originally invented by ancient Greek philosophers around 250 B.C. and over the years
mechanical alarm clocks were invented by Levi Hutchins in 1787 (History of Clocks. (n.d.).
Retrieved November 6, 2014.), then came radio alarm clocks invented by James Reynolds (The
History of Alarm Clocks {INFOGRAPHIC}. (n.d.). Retrieved November 6, 2014.), and finally the
modern alarm clocks with IPhone or IPod docking bays. My objective is to write a proposal for
option one on the final project, in which I will take a Sony Dream Machine model ICF CS15iP
alarm clockand discuss my experience using and interacting with the device. Also I will examine
how other people interact and review their experience in using the Dream Machine. The methods
I plan on using to accomplish this project will be to explain in detail the ways I interact with the
device and go over my experience with it too. The first and second part of the project will be to
gather information from various sources such as, manufacturer s manual, Sony s website, and web
sites that contains reviews from people that have used or that is still using the Dream Machine.
After, reading the reviews I will categorize them into separate

Why Is Consistency Important For Children
In the answers to this topic, there are benefits for you and your children.
Benefits for your Children:
Stability. This is the #1 benefit for your children. The stability of knowing that you are there. You
are able to answer questions, fix boo boos, dry tears and offer support. Your children need you. A
lot! Consistency. Your children can rely on you. They can rely on the consistency of the way you
run your household. You are consistent with mealtimes, baths and bedtimes, organization, chores
and discipline. Children need this consistency. Consistency is what gives them routine in their lives.
We all know how important that is. Quality time. All kids need quality time with their mom.
Quality time gives them the assurance of being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You know that no matter what...you have a job. You don t have to worry about getting laid off
or getting fired. You don t have to worry that someone is going to get promoted over you. You
have job security. You know exactly what is required of you to do your job. You perform your
duties on your own schedule. Consistency. This runs along side of stability. You are in charge!
You don t have to answer to anyone except yourself on the consistencies (or inconsistencies, for
that matter) in your working environment. No specific hours. A mom who works outside the
home typically has a 9 5 job. 8 6 if you include her commuting time. A stay at home mom keeps
her own hours. If you are bummed one day and want to take the day off, chill and take the day
off! You don t have to be concerned with how many sick days you have accumulated. There is no
time clock to punch. You don t have to worry about being late getting into work because you
gave your children extra kisses. You don t have to face a disgruntled employer. Another case in
point is that you don t have to worry that you ll be late getting out of work either. Believe me,
when the daycare center closes at 6 they don t care that you had to finish typing up that report so
it would be on Mr. SoandSo s desk in the morning. They expect you to be there to pick up your child
before 6. You don t have to face a disgruntled caretaker

Sears Human Relationship Management
After finding Sears Holdings Corporation standing on the Fortune s 500 worst companies list, I
decided to do a little research on the Fortune s 500 page to gather some valuable information
about the enterprise. While looking at the information provided on the website, I noticed that
Sears Holdings Corporation previously ranked 99 and the company is now listed at 111 per
Fortune s 500. (Beta, 2016). Not only did the company fall twelve spots, but it is also showing a
negative revenue change of 19.4%, and it is indicating a decrease in profits by $1,129. (Beta,
2016). Although the company has a negative revenue of 19.4%, their current income is sitting at
$25,146, and their current assets are $11,337. Also, as of March 31, 2016, Sears Holdings... Show

(Perry, 2011). The purpose of his theory was to have companies be more productive than the
machines used inside of the enterprise. In Sears case, a productive employee would be someone
who not only provides that WOW customer service experience that the company prides itself on,
but to also keep the sales floor looking presentable as well as the fitting rooms. Also, a productive
employee would be someone who not only asks a customer if they are finding everything but
helping satisfy the client s needs before the check out process. Mayo s theory also states, Ifs
employees receive particular attention and are encouraged to participate; they perceive their work
has significance, and they are motivated to be more productive. (Perry, 2011). Elton Mayo s theory
is in human relations management which is not the same as human resource management.
However, his argument touched on some of the same basis that Sears human resource department
moves on upon hiring their employees. What government regulation must Sears Holdings
Corporation follow? Since Sears primary sector in the general merchandisers industry is retail,
the company by default is required to comply with the Retail Law. Retail Law also known as
Retail and Consumer Law is the body of laws related to the sale and advertising of consumer
products. (HG Legal Resources, 2016). The purpose of this law is to protect the rights of
consumers and to ensure fair trade competition. The Retail and Consumer Law also provides truth
in advertising which makes sure customers are not singled out by unscrupulous retailers. (HG,

Fear And Loathing In America By Hunter S. Thompson
From this week s reading, I chose to write analysis and synthesis of the story by Hunter S.
Thompson, Fear and loathing in America. The author narrates in the story about the event
surrounding the 9/11 and made some predictions about the possible consequences of war that are
going to start to happen due to the attack on the American soil. To state one of the author s
predictions that he said for sure will happen and what really we experienced and witness today
that his predicts are for real happening. it will be a religious war, a sort of Christian jihad, fueled
by religious hatred and led by merciless fanatics on both sides (Thompson, 2001, p.7). As the
author stated in the story, media and political figures played a major role in decorating the attack
as if it was a religious war carried out by religious extremists, who want to start a new crusade war
of the 21st century. It was never mentioned as politically motivated attack, but of rootless extremists
who want to get rid of Christianity. As a result hatred between Muslim and Christianity increased
more than ever. Since the 9/11 attack there has been an increasing... Show more content on

The implementation of new U.S. Immigration and anti terrorism laws after the September 11 left
the Muslim communities in fear and disillusionment. In post sep.11 America, immigrants from
predominantly Muslim countries have been victimized by U.S new legislations that allegedly
targets them as a group (Baker, 2005). The government engaged in expelling a specific group
member in the name of preventing terrorist infiltration, which was criticized as nothing more than
legislated xenophobia and discrimination. Likewise the same inhumane beheading of Christians is
carried on by Islamic extremists to describe some of them, Boko Haram in West Africa, dash and

The Influence of the Hyksos Invasion of Egypt
At the end of the Middle Kingdom, the Hyksos people invaded Egypt. The Hyksos most likely
migrated from Western Asia in Syria Palestine, but have no clear origin where they are from. The
Egyptians called these people hikau khausut which means ruler of the foreign countries . The
Hyksos were technologically advanced and because of that they had a strong military. The
Egyptians had been isolated from the growing and progressing world by the deserts which surround
the country. Because of this isolation, the Egyptians were unprepared for any attack and had a
weaker military force. Instead of protecting themself they relied on their natural borders to shelter
them from invasion. When the Hyksosinvaded Egypt, they left a lasting impact on Egypt s lifestyle
by introducing the Egyptians to different trade methods, diversifying their economy, and exposed
exposing them to new military techniques.
The trade and economy of the Egyptians were influenced by the invaders. The Hyksos brought
with them the knowledge of metals, weapons, and a horse drawn cart know as and a chariot. These
developments increased trade, economic expansion and the growth of cities. The trading of Bronze
and Copper contributed to a major part the of the development and enlargement of Egyptian cities.
Bronze and copper were used to made tools and weapons. The new technology spread by trading,
traveling, conquest, and migration. The introduction of the crossbow to the Egyptians created a
new revolution in

Hitler s Reason To The People Of Hitler And Adolf Hitler
AFTER the First World War Germany was left in ruins, the years after the war there were many
violent disputes and problems began to grow quickly across the country. After fingers were
pointed at Germany and the Treaty of Versailles had been signed, Germany needed someone to
blame for their defeat in the war. Blame was put on politicians who tried to negotiate peace, the
people of Germanywanted strong leadership and needed a solution to the country s political,
economical and social issues. The Treaty of Versailles was one of the main reasons as to why the
people of Germany were angry and Adolf Hitlerused this topic perfectly to appeal to a much wider
audience. The Nazi s didn t just promise to fix these issues, they first used them, fueled off them
and fed them to the German people, what they did was unique and it worked, so I will tell you...
This is how Hitler and the Nazi party used Germany s problems to gain the support of the Germans
and rise to power.
Adolf Hitler s promise to eradicate the Treaty of Versailles and restore German pride was a key
factor in how the Nazi party captured the support of the german people. This is evident in an
extract of a speech by Hitler in October 1920 (Document 9), We need some national pride again...
We need a national will just as much. In order to smash this disgraceful peace treaty, we must
regard every means as justified... We are not a class party, but a party of honest workers. The
Treaty of Versailles was an imposed settlement

Bettelheim says that adults use science to figure out why certain things happen, while a child uses stories they hear to figure out the reason of why certain things happen. The examples Bettelheim uses for stories a child could hear are myths, fairy tales, and the Bible, which he says can be distinguish from each other by the way they solve problems. Some sociologist may argue that even though working class students are often labeled and streamed into low achieving section, they are far from discouraging students, it often makes students more likely to want to work hard to prove their teachers wrong. This was proved in research in which black young girls were streamed into lower ability classes, and were then determined to do better than they would have if they were labeled as high achievers. To me, God is a higher power that is always there to comfort you and forgives you no matter what. God watches over you, protects you, and cares for you. Whenever I am either confused or in need of some advice, I know that God is always there to help me. Additionally, the images and ideas that I have about God are that God is in everything. He is in the plants and nature s beauty, and in dogs and other living things. I know I see God in things when I need the advice. For example, when I have a hard day and I come home and my dog is excited to see me, I see that God is watching out for me and wants me to realize that someone or something is always excited to see me. It helps me see the glass half full instead of half empty. Lastly, some significant events that have shaped my view of God and who he is to me are hiking and school. Whenever I go hiking and see the beauty around me that God has created in this world, I change my view on him and realize the beauty God creates. Additionally, when I go to school my image of God changes too. In class, whenever other people bring up their perspectives of God and where they see him, I think back to my image of God and how what someone said affects my image or changes it. Their success is based on a few key components that have kept them as a profitable company, with happy employees and customers. History and mission of the organization Southwest Airlines Corporation, which was essentially established in 1971, has become one of the most well known airlines to date. The cofounder, Herb Kelleher, had a simple motto to follow when he began the company: If you get your passengers to their destinations when they want to get there, on time, at the lowest possible fares, and make darn sure they have a good time doing it, people will fly your airline (About Southwest, n.d., p. 1). Therefore, before spending such huge sums on nation building a thorough study of the cultures and the sub cultures relating to the particular community is an absolute necessity to ensure its successful implementation. A professional engineer requires high responsibility, especially problem based solving skills to cope with workplace environment and compete with others. Problem based learning (PBL) is really important to reflect the professional practice of engineers. There have been several definitions of PBL. According to Lizinger, Lattuca, Hadgraft and Newstetter (2011, p.134), PBL is the approach that allows learners to practice finding solutions throughout their academy. Learners in a PBL process have to reflect, identify and learn about the complex problem and the cycle is repeated until learners find a solution that they can do both in writing and presentation. There are some basics of PBL such as decision making, communication, collaboration, self regulation, self motivation and flexibility. These basics are the base for every engineerto become a successful professional practicing engineer. Decision making ability helps engineers to learn deeply from the problems and have ability to analyse and get the detail of the problems before planning to solve them. Deep learners focus on the problem carefully and get all information about it. Lizinger, Lattuca, Hadgraft and Newstetter (2011, p.126) state that the experiences of the effective learning from deep learning leads learners to understand key words and general principle to develop both technic and profession. Up until now, Jewish people hadn t established a foundation that provided them with security; there was no real place they could call home. Because they didn t have a place that was their own, other nations around the world didn t view them as a nation, they were seen as individuals. Around this time, anti Semitism began to emerge, it was time for the Jewish people to come together as one and let go of their past and that desire drove them to a pivotal point in Jewish history. By analyzing different pieces of Hebrew literature and songs that were written during this time in history, the evidence shows that the definition of Jew changed and Jewish people started to look at themselves differently and gained confidence to be a nation and not an individual. Avraham Shlonsky wrote a poem titled Tiller of the Soil characterizes and defines the Jew and his/her hard work for the land and their passion for it. The way Shlonsky uses the words and play on words emphasizes the point of a hard working Jew. However, throughout the past few centuries, many ethical questions have been brought up regarding how the human race interacts with nature. As our factories and civilizations increase and expand, so does our footprint. One fairly recent ethical concern is the act of hunting. Hunting has been a staple in the evolution of the humanrace. The harvesting of animals has provided humans with many valuable resources necessary to survive. Alice Walker, Aldo Leopold, and many other professionals have studied, researched, and written about their views and findings on this matter. Once all of the information has been examined and digested, one can come to a conclusion that is held by hunters and conservationists alike. Hunting is in fact a human intrusion on nature that poses many ethical concerns and among these are hunting for necessity, population control, and sport/prosperity; however, if hunting is done in a principled and legal manner, the act is inherently just. Alice Walker speaks of how the Native Americans treated animals like humans and only killed when it was necessary for their survival. The European immigrants and their descendants have inherited an extremely bad reputation as being unethical hunters. The increased popularity in railroading led to an increase demand for resources needed in the expansion of the nation s railway system. A few markets that benefited greatly from this demand were those supplying coal and steel. The heavy demand for steel was caused by the need for railroad companies to forge more railway tracks, while the increase demand in coal was used to fuel the locomotives once they were on the tracks. • 27. The Lord Of The Screw And Northanger Abbey The Role of the Innocent Heroine in Turn of the Screw and Northanger Abbey The function of the innocent heroine in gothic literature is, primarily, to follow her curiosity into the deepest, darkest corners of an appropriate gothic setting, uncover some awful secret contained therein, and do a lot of running around in her nightgown to be saved at the appropriate moment by a strong, capable suitor. In both Northanger Abbeyby Jane Austen, and The Turn of the Screw by Henry James this trope is challenged, with both books presenting us with a slightly different version of the gothic heroine. Northanger Abbey gives us Catherine Morland, with her own knowledge of the gothic genre through the books she has read herself, and a propensity for common sense over hysteria. This foreknowledge and self awareness creates a very different heroine than the typical gothic damsel in distress, and allows for Jane Austen to explore and parody the gothic genre instead of adhering to its every rule. The Turn of the Screw gives us the governess, who appears at first to follow the gothic heroine trope; young and pure of heart and motive, but who must also fill the role of both innocent heroine and protective hero. As the story progresses, doubt begins to fall on the governess sanity and motives. This essay will compare and contrast the treatment of these two gothic heroines, explore the different ways the characters challenge the innocent heroine trope, and discuss the effect this has on the ... • 39. Early Onset Anorexia Essays Early Onset Anorexia In recent years, it seems that the public has begun to pay more attention to eating disorders. This trend could be a consequence of the heightened nutrition and fitness craze that the 1990 s has brought about, or possibly a result of more intense and conclusive research studies. More clearly defined definitions of anorexia and bulimia in the DSM IV may also have contributed to better diagnosis of eating disorders. Anorexia nervosa is a disorder that in the majority of cases will start when the patient is a teenager. The mean age at onset is figured to be about 17 years of age. The distribution of cases appears to be asymmetrical with a skewness towards the higher ages (Theander, 1996). Recently, child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each statistic in the descriptive form lowers the quantity of data into a much simpler summary. Inferential Statistics Inferential statistics helps us to analyze predictions, inferences, or samples about a specific population from the observations that they make. With inferential statistics, you are trying to reach conclusions that extend beyond the immediate data alone (Trochim, 2006). The goal for this type of data is to review the sample data to be able to infer what the test group may think. It does this by making judgment of the chance that a difference that is observed between the groups is indeed one that can be counted on that could have otherwise happened by coincidence. In order to help solve the issue of generalization, tests of significance are used. For example, a chi square test or T test provides a person with the probability that the analysis sample results may or may not represent the respective population. In other words, the tests of significance provides us the likelihood of how the analysis results might have happened by chance in a scenario that a relationship may not exist between the variables in regards to the population that is being studied. Hypothesis Development and Testing: Hypothesis testing and development provides a baseline for taking ideas or theories that were initially created by another person in regards to the markets, economy, or investing and then determining if the ... Not only did the company fall twelve spots, but it is also showing a negative revenue change of 19.4%, and it is indicating a decrease in profits by $1,129. (Beta, 2016). In Sears case, a productive employee would be someone who not only provides that WOW customer service experience that the company prides itself on, but to also keep the sales floor looking presentable as well as the fitting rooms. Also, a productive employee would be someone who not only asks a customer if they are finding everything but helping satisfy the client s needs before the check out process. Mayo s theory also states, Ifs employees receive particular attention and are encouraged to participate; they perceive their work has significance, and they are motivated to be more productive. • 46. Fear And Loathing In America By Hunter S. Thompson From this week s reading, I chose to write analysis and synthesis of the story by Hunter S. Thompson, Fear and loathing in America. The author narrates in the story about the event surrounding the 9/11 and made some predictions about the possible consequences of war that are going to start to happen due to the attack on the American soil. To state one of the author s predictions that he said for sure will happen and what really we experienced and witness today that his predicts are for real happening. it will be a religious war, a sort of Christian jihad, fueled by religious hatred and led by merciless fanatics on both sides (Thompson, 2001, p.7). As the author stated in the story, media and political figures played a major role in decorating the attack as if it was a religious war carried out by religious extremists, who want to start a new crusade war of the 21st century. It was never mentioned as politically motivated attack, but of rootless extremists who want to get rid of Christianity. As a result hatred between Muslim and Christianity increased more than ever. The Hyksos most likely migrated from Western Asia in Syria Palestine, but have no clear origin where they are from. The Egyptians called these people hikau khausut which means ruler of the foreign countries . The Hyksos were technologically advanced and because of that they had a strong military. The Egyptians had been isolated from the growing and progressing world by the deserts which surround the country. Because of this isolation, the Egyptians were unprepared for any attack and had a weaker military force. Instead of protecting themself they relied on their natural borders to shelter them from invasion. When the Hyksosinvaded Egypt, they left a lasting impact on Egypt s lifestyle by introducing the Egyptians to different trade methods, diversifying their economy, and exposed exposing them to new military techniques. The trade and economy of the Egyptians were influenced by the invaders. The Hyksos brought with them the knowledge of metals, weapons, and a horse drawn cart know as and a chariot. These developments increased trade, economic expansion and the growth of cities. • 48. Hitler s Reason To The People Of Hitler And Adolf Hitler AFTER the First World War Germany was left in ruins, the years after the war there were many violent disputes and problems began to grow quickly across the country. After fingers were pointed at Germany and the Treaty of Versailles had been signed, Germany needed someone to blame for their defeat in the war. Blame was put on politicians who tried to negotiate peace, the people of Germanywanted strong leadership and needed a solution to the country s political, economical and social issues. The Treaty of Versailles was one of the main reasons as to why the people of Germany were angry and Adolf Hitlerused this topic perfectly to appeal to a much wider audience. The Nazi s didn t just promise to fix these issues, they first used them, fueled off them and fed them to the German people, what they did was unique and it worked, so I will tell you... This is how Hitler and the Nazi party used Germany s problems to gain the support of the Germans and rise to power. Adolf Hitler s promise to eradicate the Treaty of Versailles and restore German pride was a key factor in how the Nazi party captured the support of the german people. This is evident in an extract of a speech by Hitler in October 1920 (Document 9), We need some national pride again... We need a national will just as much. In order to smash this disgraceful peace treaty, we must regard every means as justified... We are not a class party, but a party of honest workers.
