Gilgamesh As A Hero Essay
In The Epic of Gilgamesh, the character Gilgamesh may be considered a hero because he embodies or
participates in some general aspects that are attributable to most heroes. After Gilgamesh s new friend,
Enkidu, passes away Gilgamesh embarks upon a journey to obtain immortality. During this journey,
Gilgamesh encounters difficulties when he needs to cross the near impassable waters of death;
however, Gilgamesh does not get deterred from his journey. Gilgamesh s dedication forces him to
persevere. Gilgamesh s determination is a major strength and exemplifies his heroism. When
Gilgamesh finds Ur Shanabi, Gilgamesh accidentally destroys Ur Shanabi s magical Stone Charms
that can transport him across the waters of death safely. Instead of giving up, Gilgamesh takes a
superhuman risk of using his body as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, Gilgamesh s other 1/3rd is human which makes him identifiable to the people of Uruk,
the town that Gilgamesh rules. Although Gilgamesh s human side makes him relatable, it also makes
him mortal. Gilgamesh faces the reality of his mortality when Enkidu passes away, and this scares
Gilgamesh into embarking on a journey to obtain immortality. Although Gilgamesh never gained
immortality, he meets Siduri, a tavern keeper, along his journey who encourages Gilgamesh to live
every day as happily as he can; and if he actually complies with this advice, this would allow
Gilgamesh to grow. Gilgamesh could also be considered a hero because some might see his authority,
divineness, strength, and wealth as something to look up to. Unfortunately, Gilgamesh also personifies
the arrogant characteristic of heroes because, after a few days of mourning Enkidu, Gilgamesh quickly
reverts back to focusing on himself and his impermanence. Gilgamesh s selfish and arrogant ways are
weaknesses that one could say prevent him from being considered a

Esl Class Observation
Introduction
In this report, I will describe a teacher and her students in an observation I did in a 8th grade of Liceo
de San Miguel in Desamparados which is known as a problematic high school due to constantly
problems of drugs and alcohol in some of its students. The purpose of this report is to reflect on the
teacher s class organization strategies and class environment in relation with what I have learned in the
class of Didactics 1 from the professor Jonnathan Elizondo in the U.I.A. Throughout this paper, a
variety of organization techniques will be describe. In order to understand better the method that the
teacher used during this observation; is it very important recall that Grammar Translation Method is

After all these, in the English teacher s classroom she asked her students if they had any doubts from
previous chapter in order to be clear and ready for the test that her students were supposed to have the
following week and nobody say a word. After that, the teacher goes over some vocabulary words that
were in a reading passage of the workbook that they were using. All students exchanged language by
comparing their answers with each other and checking their work by giving the correct translation in
Spanish. Teacher tells students to write down the correct answers for the questions presented in their
workbooks. Teacher told her students to look at some sings and draws provided in the workbook that
talks about recycling. Then students work individually in those drawings and sings from the workbook
in order to find out the meaning of each recycling sings. In the mean time, the teacher walks around
the class to assist the other students for around 10 minutes basically translating any doubts or
questions in the students native language. Teacher showed students a reading passage from the
workbook about pollution and the effects in our planet and some students were sending text messages
to each other instead of doing their work. The teacher caught them and told them to turn them off and
put away their cell phones. After that, the students continue working on the previous assignment
mentioned above. A group of students did not seem to understand the

The Major Causes Of The French Revolution Of 1789-1799
Causes of French Revolution The French revolution of 1789 1799 was one of the major events in the
world s history. This revolution bought many changes in France. At the time of revolution, France was
the most powerful state in Europe. Over the ten years period between 1789 and 1799 the French
revolution was spread. The dispute over the people s differing ideas of reform, was the primary cause
of the revolution. After the death of King Louis XIV, his grandson Louis XV got kingship. He was not
able for this designation and had no ability to govern the state. France engaged in war with other
countries. In result of seven year war she has lost her empire. Financial crisis started in the country.
Peasants were not in state to pay heavy taxes they were badly suffered. Louis XV was hooked up in
sake of worldly pleasure. He had no interest in governing country. Even he was ready to discuss
serious issues with minister. When minister tried to discuss with him Louis XV replied: After me
deluge . The box of treasure was almost empty after the wars but the king remained same like before
quite indifferent from the suffering of people. He could not take place of Louis XIV. The favoritism

There was another important factor during that period that was economic problems. Economic
condition of France was very critical. During the time the government was facing the most serious
problem. To pay for the wars of LOIUS XIV, French government borrowed much money, to keep
French power alive in Europe Louis still borrowed money to fight wars. These costs greatly increased
the national debt, which was, at the time, already too high. The system of taxation in France was an
absolute unfair and unjust. Peasants of France became oppressive by the oppressors. Members of
privilege class were free from all taxes. Hence, automatically the whole burden of taxation shifted

Does Kevin Hart inspire you? Above all, Being inspirational takes someone who is ordinary and has
done extraordinary things, someone who is creative and full of life, someone who can turn the things
that are bad into good, someone who people can look up to and always count on them for the right
reasons. Therefore, Kevin Hart is a very great example of someone who is inspiring because he dares
to be different and works for what he believes in. Strangely enough, Kevin wasn t brought up as a very
wealthy individual. As being one of the less fortunate, Kevin had to face many hassles while

Moreover, the number of clients who have received services simply identifies the number of clients
who proceeded through the program. Outcomes identify the changes, impact, or benefits of the clients
both during and after the program. For example, an outcome may be for clients to stop drinking in an
alcohol program. Individuals should be aware that outcomes are different from outputs, for an
example, the amount of clients who pass through a program. (Lewis, Packard amp; Lewis, 2006) The
changes or outcomes can be conveyed in the following terms. First knowledge, and skills outcomes
are thought of as short term outcomes. Then behaviors are included, which weigh up as intermediate
term outcomes. Additionally, values, conditions, and status are changes and outcomes, which reflect
long term outcomes. Furthermore, the number and percent of participants the department wants to
accomplish the outcome is the outcome target. For example, 1,500 teens (10% of teens) quit drinking
over the next year is an outcome goal. (McNamara, n.d.) Outcome indicators are observable and
measurable milestones one achieves toward his or her outcome target. What the individual sees, reads,
and hears would specify whether he or she is making progress toward his or her target outcome. For
instance, outcome indicators for the percent of teen participants who quit drinking

Violence / Intimate Partner
Sex crime is one of the most underestimated crimes in America. Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence
are one of the most torturous and abusive crimes that goes unreported due to fear. Intimate partner
abuse is generally part of a pattern of abusive behavior and control rather than an isolated act of
physical aggression. Partner abuse can take a variety of forms, including physical assault such as
different forms of hitting, kicking, and beatings; emotional abuse, threats, financial abuse,
psychological abuse such as belittling, intimidation, and humiliation.
Some abuser would go as far as using their children as pawns in their abuse. Victims are continuously

The Bureaucratic Management Theory
Vail Valley Medical Center is an organization run mostly by the Bureaucratic Management Theory. A
bureaucracy is any form of organization that subscribes to an authority in the structure of a hierarchy
and has a rigid set of rules. The purpose of the Bureaucratic Management Theory can be described as
a system the enables an organization to expand and grow into a very complex company with very
specific rules and regulations resulting in great success. An advantage of the Bureaucratic
Management Theory is that it is the model by which all modern day theories are judged against. Some
of the disadvantages of this theory are: the organization may become too focused on rules and
regulations as opposed to success, rules and procedures can be stifling to flexibility and innovation of
employees, upper management could be so preoccupied with rules that the customer ultimately suffers
and rules and procedures can sap motivations from team members resulting in weak job performance.
Weber identified an organization practicing the Bureaucratic Management Theory as one who has
tendencies such as: 1. A formal hierarchical structure
The organization is designed in a top tier down hierarchical structure with decisions and planning
being made at the top of the structure and passed down to the bottom, level by level.
2. Management by rules

Essay about Symbolism in “The Story of an Hour”
The symbols and imagery used by Kate Chopin s in The Story of an Hour give the reader a sense of
Mrs. Mallard s new life appearing before her through her view of an open window (para. 4). Louise
Mallard experiences what most individuals long for throughout their lives; freedom and happiness. By
spending an hour in a comfortable, roomy armchair (para.4) in front of an open window, she
undergoes a transformation that makes her understand the importance of her freedom. The author s use
of Spring time imagery also creates a sense of renewal that captures the author s idea that Mrs.
Mallard was set free after the news of her husband s death.

Immediately after the news of her husband s death, Mrs. Mallard races upstairs into her room where
she settles into a comfortable, roomy armchair (para.4). The armchair symbolizes the rest from the
oppressive life she had and freedom from society s expectations. Since it was tradition for women to
be married by a certain age, Louise Mallard must have obligated to marry Brently. Sitting in the
armchair, she gazes out of the window and starts indulges in deep thought, which establishes her as an
intelligent individual.
The open window from which Louise gazes is symbolic for her freedom and the good fortune that she
is now presented with. Her attention to the blue sky, fluffy clouds, tree tops and the delicious breath of
rain denote her newly found inner well being. The writer s use of language is well chosen as it
explicitly portrays Mrs. Mallard s true feelings. By capturing all the senses, the imagery created
represents Louise s new life and establishes her as a round character. The open window provides a
clear and bright view into the distance of Louise s own bright future, which was obstructed by the
demands of her husband.
As Mrs. Mallard left the room, there was a feverish triumph in her eyes, and she carried herself
unwittingly like a goddess of Victory (para.19). The goddess of victory (para.19) embodies Louise s
triumph over repression, over the powerful will bending hers in that blind persistence...right to impose

The Election Sociology
How Sociology Influenced the Election
On November 8, 2016, the United States was filled with mixed emotions from the outcome of the
presidential election. For many, the results of the election were shocking because the candidates in this
election were so different. The final votes were very close, but the results showed that Donald Trump
would be the next President of the United States. When looking at the election, people focus on the
how many votes their candidate received. However, many people do not look past just the vote itself.
By this I mean, they do not realize the sociological concepts that play into the election. By looking at
the election from a sociologists standpoint, there are many other important factors that contribute ...

Sociology defines education as the social institution through which society provides its members with
important knowledge, including basic facts, job skills, and cultural norms and values (Macionis 467).
This platform is very important for all parties because it impacts the future of America, and the
education in America is held to a high standard. When the voting data was broken down into different
amounts of education per vote, the results were close. The data showed that 51 percent of people who
had a high school degree or less, and 52 percent of people who had at least some college voted for
Trump. The rest of the votes for Hillary came from 49 percent of college graduates and 58 percent of
postgraduates. To further this data, it was compared to race and gender. The results showed that race
over powered education, and that there were more white college graduates and whites with no degrees
that voted for Trump. When this data was compared to gender, it showed that white educated women
were the outliers. In other words, white college graduates who are women all voted for

There is no way to take time to think situations over, a decision must be made immediately or the
thought will be forgotten.
While Leonard s memory problem causes him not to be able to form new memories, his memories of
everything that happened before the incident are still intact. According to MemoryLossOnline,
Memories for events that occurred before the injury may be largely spared, but events that occurred
since the injury may be lost. In practice, this means that an individual with amnesia may have good
memory for childhood and for the years before the injury, but may remember little or nothing from the
years since ( Anterograde ). Throughout the movie, Leonard recalls information that he remembered
before his incident, such as the insurance case he investigated that dealt with another form of
anterograde amnesia.
Leonard has the ability to carry on normal conversations with people, but after the conversation in
over or if he gets distracted for more than a few moments, he forgets what he was doing. This is
because short term memory is generally spared, which means that the individual may be able to carry
on a conversation; but as soon as he is distracted, the memory of the conversation fades ( Anterograde
). In one scene, Leonard is arguing with Carrie Ann Moss character about her boyfriend. Moss

Atherosclerosis Research Papers
Brief Introduction (max 200 words)
Although it was believed for a long time that second hand smoke only affects smokers, since the early
1980s it has been known that non smoking family members of smokers have twice the risk of
experiencing heart attacks than those in non smoking households. Consequently, people living and
working in environments that contain second hand smoke suffer coronary heart diseases (CHD) due to
the toxic substances of tobacco smoke.
Key concepts (max 500 words)
Second hand smoke (SHS) consists of smoke from the burning end of a cigarette and the smoke
breathed out by smokers. SHS contains more than 7,000 chemicals and more than 200 of these are
known poisons, such as carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide, and methyl isocyanate. ... Show more

Due to the plaque, arteries become narrower, slowly blocking the blood flow and causing increased
risks of CHD. When the artery narrows and blood flow is reduced, the oxygen supply is decreased.
Most of the time a blood clot forms and blocks the artery, thus stopping the blood flow. If the oxygen
supply to the heart is reduced, a heart attack can occur. If the oxygen supply to the brain is cut off, a
stroke can occur. Therefore SHS accelerates atherosclerosis in the arteries and aorta and the toxic
substances in the smoke that builds up in the arteries, results in increased risks of getting
cardiovascular diseases.
When someone smokes indoors, the smoke cannot be kept away by opening a window or using a fan.
In fact, research shows that toxins from smoke remain in a person s hair and clothes and the
surrounding environment. These toxins, are hazardous to infants and children.
The only way to avoid the risks of smoke is to avoid places where smoking occurs. That can be done
by making sure family, friends, and visitors never smoke inside your house or vehicle, thus helping to
keep the house smoke free by. Choose to eat in restaurants that are smoke free as non smoking
sections do not provide protection from secondhand

How Does Stalin Deserve The Great Purges
During the 1930 s, Stalin ordered large scale purges, targeting anyone who displayed even the slightest
sign of being a threat to the government. The government was able to identify these people through
family members or close friends who informed on them. With this, people no longer expressed their
true opinions and instead conformed with the government s ideas in fear of persecution ( Purges and
Praises ). About 20 million people that were suspected of performing anti Soviet activities were
executed, sent to Gulag labor camps, or forced them to take part in a show trial, where they would be
forced plead guilty publicly to inconceivable crimes that they had never committed (Gracheva). Many
officials and military leaders were also executed after being convicted of treason. It is estimated that
one thirds of the Communist Party s three million members were put to death during the Great Purge.
However, the traces of the people that were murdered were eliminated after the government rewrote
history books and doctored photographs to exclude them. Additionally, members of the NKVD, the
Soviet secret police, were killed at the end of the Great Purges, so that the people that had known too
much about this event would be eliminated.

Google And Coca Cola Code Of Conduct
Lixin Guo
JS3
Assignment 1.7 Every company has a code of conduct that defines not only the legal minimum
standards expected of its employees, but also how the employees should behave to enhance the
company s products and services. In a highly competitive environment, it is especially important for
the name brands to maintain their reputation by strictly following the procedures that would provide
the highest product quality. To gain a better understanding of this topic, I have read the codes of
conduct of two global leaders, Google and Coca Cola, and I will provide my observations and
reflections on their codes.
According to its code of conduct, Google is a company that provides users unbiased access to

When an employee has a question related to the code, he or she can contact the manager, a Human
Resources representative, or Ethics Compliance . When a law is violated, the employee can report it to

makes the Ethics Compliance available in case of a retaliation.
Coca Cola is the most recognized brand in the beverage industry. It makes money by selling its drinks
in over two hundred countries. It also controls its own bottling and distribution, which helps the
company to be more efficient with selling the products. From its code of conduct, it is evident that
Coca Cola values integrity, accountability, and honesty. Coca Cola wants its employees to follow the
laws and strive to make no mistake in financial reports. This is especially important because when a
scandal hits an organization, it affects people far beyond those who committed the bad acts (Gunsalus,
46). The Code specifies that the employees are expected to use the company s assets properly and
unauthorized disclosure of nonpublic information is prohibited, which attributes to accountability. Last
but not least, Coca Cola makes it an obligation for its employees to observe any violation of the Code
or the laws and honestly raise the issues before they complicate. These are also the values that I think
are the most important. I

Defining Characteristics Of The Manic Pixie Dream Girl
The Manic Pixie Problem
Picture this a brooding, angsty male character with a cynical world view falls in love with an
unconventional, wild hearted girl with multiple strange quirks who brightens up his life like the sun. If
this sounds in any way familiar, it s because these are the defining characteristics of the Manic Pixie
Dream Girl, a stock character trope which plagues us across media, in television (e.g. the eponymous
Mother in How I Met Your Mother), in film (Ramona Flowers in Scott Pilgrim vs The World, and
Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany s) , in literature (Leslie in Bridge to Terabithia), and even in
music (The Whole of the Moon by The Waterboys and Ruby Tuesday by The Rolling Stones). This
trope deserves to be wiped out, mostly because it s heavily misogynist, but also because it is, frankly,
annoying.
By definition, the Manic Pixie Dream Girl s character arc will focus entirely on a male character,
furthering or entirely causing his character development without having any of her own. Common
themes on this are bringing him out of his shell or teaching him to see life in a different way. This plot
line will most likely end in 2 different ways: ending up in a relationship with the male character or
dying. As a result, it perpetuates the myth that women s lives are only about men and their
relationships with men, romantic or otherwise. Additionally, men s self improvement and personal
growth is absolutely not women s job to cause, and especially not at the expense of their own. Sweet,
lovable women like the Manic Pixie Dream Girl deserve better than this. As said by Hugo Schwyzer
in his article for The Atlantic, The Real World Consequences of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl Cliché ;
We need women who are lead characters, but that s only part of the equation: we deserve to see men
who love these women for the complicated, messy, decidedly non ethereal people they are.
The male equivalent of this trope is rare, and is almost never the same as a Manic Pixie Dream Girl.
The difference is that a Manic Pixie Dream Boy is usually young or immature, and while they are
usually love interests as well, the Manic Pixie Dream Girl is usually a grown woman. Examples of

Examples Of Tension In 12 Angry Men
The small setting of the room, few props and the heat, along with camera levels, builds tension and
releases it throughout 12 Angry Men. Towards the beginning tension is put in to play as the setting of
film is in a small, un airconditioned room on a hot summer day. Throughout the film the jurors
comment on the weather which effects certain juror s moods. Juror number 7 says This is the hottest
day of the year. You d think they d at least air condition the place. The heat irritates and agitates most
of the jurors, resulting in clashes of moods, further adding to the tension. Throughout the film the
camera level goes from above eye level to eye level, increasing the tension by showcasing more
reactions and emotions during intense scenes.
The mise en scène when we first see the jury room creates a perfect setting for tension to build. In the
room, we see very few props, which helps make the room seem small. The room has a table with 12
chairs, ashtrays on the table, a fan on the wall, 2 overhead key lights, a few books, papers and another
small table. The jurors also can t leave until they either all decide to send an 18 year old to the electric
chair, or free. The men are all wearing jackets, even though the weather is hot and the heat makes
them sweaty and agitated. Many of the men are smoking, which might show they are agitated or
anxious. Early on in this room, tension starts to rise as juror number eight is the only one who votes
not guilty. This all happens in the

El hecho es que no hay manera posible de agrandar su pene sin realizar algún tipo de tratamiento con

Si bien algunas de estas píldoras milagrosas damos algunos hombres mejores erecciones o un mejor

In The Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh, the hero of this epic, achieves many feats of skill, which makes

an epic by being consistently relevant to a human society and carries immortal themes and messages.
By looking at literature throughout history, one can infer the themes that are consistently passed on to

Advantages Of E-Education
Introduction:
According to Gail Grimes and Claude Whitmyer(2009); E education is the application of Internet
based approach for the deliverance of learning experiences through primary tools such as e mails, e
meetings, e expeditions and the methodologies of teaching and learning; therefore referred as E
learning. E education takes place multiplicity in formal electronic lecture rooms, on corporate
intranets for on time coaching, audio and video group discussion and in various alternative
technologies mediated learning areas. And the delivery of information occurs through internet,
intranet/extranet, interactive TV, CD ROM, satellite broadcast, audio and videotape (Paulsen, 2002). E

Whereas, online learning has the advantage of learning from distant places and also could cater to
learners from disadvantaged locations with easy transfer of information through internet and mails
which provides a convenient means for the learners who cannot afford to classroom learning, to
communicate and interact with the teachers. However, online learning cannot be a complete
replacement to traditional learning. Users/learners would just lean on these easily available tools and
the rewiring of brain for critical analysis might get effected in a long run and influence further
generations genetically. If in case learners totally rely on the modern educational tools, then the
classroom teaching may not exist. As a result there will be unemployment to the good qualified and
potential teachers. Additionally, there might be the pressure to change the whole educational system,
as the students/ learners get information

Essay on Bravery in The Tempest
The Theme of Bravery in The Tempest
Bravery performs a very important role in The Tempest. Different than a motif, the theme of bravery
actually takes form in Shakespeare s play and develops the play itself. However, like a motif, bravery
is used intermittently throughout the play in different form and context. It captures different meanings
and performs different capacities erratically.
A denotative definition from the 15th century, according to the Merriam Webster Collegiate
Dictionary (10 ed.), portrays brave as meaning, [from Old Italian and Spanish, meaning courageous,
wild; probably from Latin, meaning barbarous]. The dictionary then defines brave as a. having
courage: dauntless b. making fine show: colorful, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example from the text of brave/bravery would be the presence of spirits and the brave god
[that] bears celestial liquor (II.ii.159). Caliban only knows spirit and charm. He has not yet
encountered what we would call a normal human relationship. The spirits of Stephano and Trinculo
are brave to the kneeling Caliban because they bear a fine show and heavenly charm that will satisfy
his need to be subject to something that is not earthly.
On and on throughout the text, the theme of bravery is evident. Brave and bravery demonstrate our
thematic process throughout the play through the Prosepero s realization of the benefits of forgiveness
over revenge. The thematic direction of Miranda s brave coming of age, and realizing of her
femininity and love of Ferdinand. The brave new world conqueror s Stephano and Trinculo who are
setting out to claim the island as their own and bravely breed a continent of issue from the brave
wonder of Miranda. Stephano bravely professes, Monster, I will kill this man: his daughter and I will
be king and queen save our graces! and Trinculo and thyself will be viceroys. Dost thou the clouds
methought would open and show riches Ready to drop upon me that, when I waked, I cried to dream
again.
Variations of the word bravery come in all different configurations. We have a brave monster
(II.ii.257), in Caliban. We have a brave lass (III.ii.153) that will bring

Compare And Contrast Massachusetts Bay And Jamestown
Jamestown V.S. Massachusetts Bay Jamestown and Massachusetts Bay were the first English colonies
formed in North America in the early 1600 s. While the Jamestown settlers searched for gold, the
Massachusetts Bay colonist came to escape persecution in England and obtain religious freedoms.
Although Jamestown and Massachusetts Bay were both English colonies, they both share many
similarities as well as differences socially, economically, and politically. Social similarities include the
dealings with Native Americans. (examples of each) During the time of these colonies settlement, they
both had accounts with Native Americans in the area. In the early times of settling each colony had
friendly relations with the natives. Jamestown formed alliances with the Powhatan people, while
Massachusetts Bay fell into relations with the Pequot tribe. Each settlement relied on Native
Americans to survive in the New World. The Powhatan people taught colonist John Rolfe how to grow
tobacco which was in high demand in Europe at the time. This would later contribute to the ... Show

Jamestown focused on agriculture, more specifically in the production of tobacco or Brown Gold .
However, Massachusetts Bay had poor land and weather, and decided to focused on small farming, but
relied heavily on trading ties with Britain to create a steady economy. Because farming was a large
deal in Jamestown, indentured servants were used to help boost production. However, after the Bacon
s Rebellion in 1676, the upper class/ plantation owners turned to a new form of servitude, slavery.
Slavery greatly increased economy even though slaves were expensive, they worked for life and could

trading system became known as the middle passage. However, slavery isn t seen as much throughout

What The Living Do By Marie Howe
Published in 1997, Marie Howe s anthology of poems, What the Living Do was written as an elegy to
her brother, John, who passed away due to AIDS. Howe s anthology is written without metaphor to
document the loss she felt after her brother s death. Although What the Living Do is written as an
anthology, this collection allows for individual poems to stand alone but also to work together to tell
an overarching story. Using the poetic devices of alliteration, enjambment, repetition and couplets,
Howe furthers her themes of gender and loss throughout her poems in her anthology. Alliteration is
prevalent in most of the poems in What the Living Do. Howe uses alliteration to bring attention to the
line of poetry and her word choices are meant to evoke a response from the reader. For example, in the
poem, The Promise, alliteration is used to further the themes of gender and loss, as the narrator states
Dad was drunk again and dangerous (Howe 54). The alliteration of dad, drunk, and dangerous bring
the reader s attention to this line and places emphasis on the idea of the narrator and her brother
sharing this moment (line 13). Utilizing this emphasis, the narrator is able to highlight the loss of her
brother as no one else has those shared memories with the narrator. Through alliteration, the theme of
loss is clearly expressed by talking about the brother who has passed and who she has shared
memories with. A majority of the poems in Howe s anthology are written in

Ipv6 Transition
Abstract
The rapid diffusion of the Internet and development of high speed broadband networks have posed the
problem of inadequate IPv4 address space on the Internet. Moreover, this lack of address space has
been made worse by the progress made towards the ubiquitous network society, in which various
types of information equipment, mobile computers and electrical appliances communicate on the
internet. IPv6 was developed as a solution to this problem. In this paper I discussed various features
provided by IPv6 over IPv4 in terms of improved security, lower administration cost, QoS options,
mobility, auto configuration, and peer to peer capability etc. The transition mechanisms in use today
are discussed in details. I have conducted a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important to understand that no matter what technology dominate the market today; tomorrow it
will have to be upgraded to fulfil the demand. When IPv4 was developed it was the latest protocol to
meet the demand of the time. Since the time has changes so has the demand, the need for change was
inevitable. IPv6 introduced the features like increased address space allocation, stateless address
configuration etc which have taken the limit of internet protocol to the edge. The reason behind
choosing the topic of the evolution of internet protocol is to gain detailed knowledge on IP and its
purpose and also discuss the issues related to the transition of IPv4 to IPv6. Besides the need for the
transition and the transition mechanisms will be discussed.

Comparing Movies And Viewing A Movie At Home
Both going to the movies and viewing a movie at home, are great ways of escaping with the family
from the everyday turmoil of actuality and experiencing a momentary virtual reality. But which of the
two would be the better experience? Even though there are some similarities between going to the
movies and watching them at home, there are some differences between the two, such as costs, the
types of surrounding atmospheres, and the types of movies that can be watched during the times one
wants to watch them.
The first difference in the movie experience would be costs. As all people today know, entertainment
can be a costly expense. For example, a family of three at a local AMC in Florida can expect to pay
around $29.02 with tax included for two adult tickets, and an additional $11.33 if their child happens
to be under the age of 12. Keep in mind this is not the price for a 3D film or an IMAX showing; that
would be a few extra dollars (AMC Ticket Prices Movie Theater Prices). Now that the admission is
paid for, it s time to head to the concession stand and get the family snacks. In efforts to keep the
nightly costs reasonable, a small drink and small popcorn for one will cost $8.98, so for three people it
would be a total of $26.94. Finally, add an additional $5 for the family s round trip gas expense, and
the nightly total comes to $72.29 (Delgado). On the other hand, for the family that loves to watch
movies, but wants to view those in the comfort of their own home can

Walt Whitman Essay
Walt Whitman
Walt Whitman was born on May 31, 1819, in West Hills, Long Island, New York. He was the second
of six children. From 1825 1830, he attended public school in Brooklyn. After his years of education,
Walt Whitman experimented with many different jobs. From 1836 1838, Whitman taught at several
schools in Long Island. After teaching, Walt Whitman returned to printing and editing in New York.
During this time he edited many papers such as the Aurora (daily newspaper), Evening Tattler,
Brooklyn Weekly Freeman, Brooklyn Daily Eagle and the Brooklyn Times. In addition to editing, he
also wrote for the Long Island Star. From 1850 1854, Whitman owned and operated a printing office

How and Why did the themes of WaltWhitman s writing change over time?In 1855, Walt Whitman
published his first piece of literature, Leaves of Grass. During his life, he wrote on a number of
different subjects. The year of 1861 brought many changes in his life. This year and the years that
followed, changed Whitman s life and the poetry that he wrote for two major reasons.
Clearly 1861, with coming of the Civil War, marked a turning point for Whitman: he shed his past and
began a new career with new poetry and new themes (Walt Whitman, pg.18). Although Walt Whitman
did not see the Civil War coming, he was very interested in it. At this time
Whitman was forty one years old and was obviously beyond the age of enlistment. Besides being to
old, Whitman also had to remain at home and take care of his mother (he had been taking care of her
since his fathers death in 1855). Although Whitman was to old, he was determined to be involved in
the war. In 1862, Whitman heard the new that his brother had been hurt near Fredricksburg, Virginia.
As a result, Whitman traveled to Virginia to help his brother. Although his brother was never
wounded, this trip changed Whitman s life. Walt Whitman had finally found his place to get involved
in the war. Upon learning the news that his brother was not wounded, Whitman decided to travel back
to Washington DC. When Whitman was traveling to Fredricksburg, VA, he saw so many

The Kite Runner Analysis
Different cultural backgrounds cause an audience to respond differently on the themes and events
presented in texts. This is clear in the novel The Kite Runner (2003) by Khaled Hosseini as it
highlights many issues relevant to the world. The novel follows the lives of two young boys whom
live in Afghanistan and the struggles within their lives as they grow older. The plot thickens with
betrayals, broken relationships and injustice which in turn shape the way people in the novel are
represented. The novel is told from the point of view of Amir, a rich Pashtun, and focuses on his
friendship with a poor Hazara named Hassan spanning over 26 years. Hosseini brings forward the
issues of rape, women in society and relationships between fathers and sons within the novel which
shapes different responses from the audience due to context, specifically in regards to culture.
One of the themes and motifs within the novel is rape. Hassan was raped, at the age of twelve, by
Assef, who was a teenager at the time and after Hassan s son becomes involved in Bacha Bazi, in
which he performs/dances for Assef and Assef sexually abuses Sohrab (Hassan s son). This issue
would create a variety of responses due to different cultural contexts. In India, there 23, 582 rapes that
were reported, yet the police did nothing to help and in turn continued to abuse the victims. As a
result, in India, the people do not view rape as a problem and continue to practice this barbaric act. In

Taking a Look at Pediatric Cancer
As established in the National Cancer Institute, Cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide for
children and adolescents in America, accounting for more than 91,250 children that lose their lives to
this disease (National Cancer Institute). Cancer is not considered a terminal illness, but more of a
chronic illness because of the intense treatment that the individual has to endure. As a result of this
treatment the chances of survival for children suffering from pediatric cancer has increased around 80
percent. The increment in the survival rate has made it possible for many parents to not have to go
through the acceptance that they are about to lose their child to a terminal illness, but have coping
strategies that will make them adapt to the fear of the reoccurrence of that illness. This illness has a
great impact on the patient as well as the family because not only do they have to adapt to this illness
physically, but also mentally. Research has shown that there are both short term and long term effects
that come into effect when the child is both in treatment and also years after the treatment. The type of
cancers that these adolescents have to endure range from leukemia, brain tumors and other cancerous
tumors that have appeared in recent medical studies. These tumors can either be benignant, an acute
case that is non cancerous or malignant, a cancerous case that will need intense treatment over an
extended period of time. While many would say there is more of a

The Media Of Advertisements On Advertisements
In today s fast paced world, media texts such as advertisements aim to convey meaning with a single
glance. Through using clever tools to interpretation , rhetorical, genre and narratology this can be
achieved, meaning that adverts on billboards or in magazines can successfully get their message
across with no more than a fleeting look. It is the different combinations and the selected signs which
allow us in general to convey meanings through any print advertisement and the connotations that
these signs have and what we determine from different types of signs, through the process of
signification. These tools allow brands, products, to anchor a product and create a naturalised myth of
the product such as this product t will for fill your benefits , to sell it to the consumerist world. As we
are now in an age of sophisticated advertising, there are no long written messages on the majority of
print advertisements. It is down to certain tools to produce a complex network of signs to produce a
direct anchored meaning and in most cases to avoid vagueness.
There are many conventions that the genre of print advertisements and particularly headphone
advertisements adheres to and outstanding to these common features we have certain expectations of
what they will include. The advertisement I have chosen both in print and on clip is a sub genre of

Brain On Love
The Brain on Love
All relationships change the brain but the most important ones are the intimate bonds that cultivate or
ruin us, that shape one s memories, emotions and personality. Love carries multiple definitions but in
one s own words, love is a deep emotion of affection and attachment toward others. It s been a
significant theme for artists for thousands of years, being a source of inspiration for poetry, music,
literature, paintings, and many other fine arts. Due to the biological and evolutionary perspective on
love, different parts of the brain activate love and trigger neurotransmitters, which causes the variety

The human brain contains more than 1000 neurons. According to the articles, Brain on Love , Love: A
Biological, Psychological and Philosophical Study , and Love is more than just a kiss: A
Neurobiological Perspective on Love and Affection , oxytocin, vasopressin, and dopamine are just a
few of the neurotransmitters that release chemical responses in the brain when love occurs. Oxytocin
is in nuclei of the hypothalamus and releases into the circulation by the pituitary gland (Boer, Buel,
and Horst). Oxytocin plays an important role in pair bonding and romantic love. It encourages
cuddling between lovers and increases pleasure during lovemaking (Chapman). Furthermore, oxytocin
specifically activates a female s emotions of affection, trust, and security towards others (Brain on
Love, 14). Vasopressin is quite like oxytocin in that it also triggers pair bonding. Especially in
animals, vasopressin allows pair bonding to occur when two animals develop a strong attachment to
each other, which then leads to mating and breeding. (Brain on Love, 14). Dopamine plays several
roles in the human body, not just in the brain and is crucial when falling in love. Specifically, in the
brain, dopamine plays a significant role in attraction. It stimulates the hypothalamus to release
multiple hormones (Chapman). Dopamine is associated as the pleasure system of the

The powerful score moves along with the story, in perfect counterpoint to the visuals never intrusive,
but always effective. The scenes of artfully prepared meals are enough to make mouths water, and it s
almost possible to smell the pungent aroma of cigars. In these elements of the film, Scorsese was ably
assisted by contributions from composer Elmer Bernstein and cinematographer Michael Ballhaus.
The set design and costumes are flawless, and the audience is legitimately transported to the
nineteenth century (through the help of Troy, NY, where the principal filming was done, and the
Philadelphia Academy of Music, which doubled as a New York opera house). This is not some mere
token attempt to conjure up images of times past; Scorsese has put so much effort into the illusion that
those who didn t know better would be willing to swear that he had discovered a time capsule.
Adapting from the 1921 Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Edith Wharton (who also wrote Ethan Frome,
a similar story of love and loss, which reached American screens earlier this year), Scorsese and Jay
Cocks have successfully incorporated the conflict of emotion against societal pressures which lies at
the heart of The Age of Innocence. Those watching the movie will understand that it is no easy task to
resurrect a code of behavior long dead and buried.
Daniel Day Lewis never fails to impress, even when he appears in a poor film. For the most part,

Duties of the Individual in Antigone and A Doll s House
The main theme that can be seen in both plays, Antigone and A Doll s House, is the duty to oneself as
opposed to the duty to the state or to society. Should the two women, Nora in A Doll s House, and
Antigone in Antigone, do what the state and society wishes them to do or should they follow their own
conscience? Both plays focus on the conflict between individual laws and the state law, disobedience
and obedience, and understanding oneself.
In Antigone there is the contrasting view of the state law against the divine law. The state law may
have some similarities to the divine law but they are not the same. For example the divine law ... Show

Some may think that it is wrong that people should oppose the state s laws, and should just follow
them, but then they will never get to have their own beliefs and never have a better understanding of
themselves in the end.
In Antigone there is the state and its laws, but in A Doll s House we see more of the society, and the
laws it enforces on the individual. The society s rules prevent the characters from seeing and
expressing their true nature. When Krogstad tells Nora that the law takes no account of good motives,
she cries, Then they must be very bad laws (Ibsen page #). This causes a problem for the main female
characters, in deciding if what they are doing is right or wrong. At the end of A Doll s House Nora
realizes that she has lived as a doll , as her father s doll and then as her husband s doll, and has
accepted the church and society without ever asking any questions about them. Then she questions
herself whether the society she lives in is correct in its beliefs, or if what she thinks is correct and
requires that she oppose society itself. But now I intend to learn. I must try to satisfy myself which is
right, society or I (Ibsen page #). In the end she goes with her beliefs and opposes society, but at a
great personal cost, because she had to leave her children behind.

  • 2. Gilgamesh As A Hero Essay In The Epic of Gilgamesh, the character Gilgamesh may be considered a hero because he embodies or participates in some general aspects that are attributable to most heroes. After Gilgamesh s new friend, Enkidu, passes away Gilgamesh embarks upon a journey to obtain immortality. During this journey, Gilgamesh encounters difficulties when he needs to cross the near impassable waters of death; however, Gilgamesh does not get deterred from his journey. Gilgamesh s dedication forces him to persevere. Gilgamesh s determination is a major strength and exemplifies his heroism. When Gilgamesh finds Ur Shanabi, Gilgamesh accidentally destroys Ur Shanabi s magical Stone Charms that can transport him across the waters of death safely. Instead of giving up, Gilgamesh takes a superhuman risk of using his body as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevertheless, Gilgamesh s other 1/3rd is human which makes him identifiable to the people of Uruk, the town that Gilgamesh rules. Although Gilgamesh s human side makes him relatable, it also makes him mortal. Gilgamesh faces the reality of his mortality when Enkidu passes away, and this scares Gilgamesh into embarking on a journey to obtain immortality. Although Gilgamesh never gained immortality, he meets Siduri, a tavern keeper, along his journey who encourages Gilgamesh to live every day as happily as he can; and if he actually complies with this advice, this would allow Gilgamesh to grow. Gilgamesh could also be considered a hero because some might see his authority, divineness, strength, and wealth as something to look up to. Unfortunately, Gilgamesh also personifies the arrogant characteristic of heroes because, after a few days of mourning Enkidu, Gilgamesh quickly reverts back to focusing on himself and his impermanence. Gilgamesh s selfish and arrogant ways are weaknesses that one could say prevent him from being considered a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This revolution bought many changes in France. At the time of revolution, France was the most powerful state in Europe. • 10. The Bureaucratic Management Theory Vail Valley Medical Center is an organization run mostly by the Bureaucratic Management Theory. A bureaucracy is any form of organization that subscribes to an authority in the structure of a hierarchy and has a rigid set of rules. The purpose of the Bureaucratic Management Theory can be described as a system the enables an organization to expand and grow into a very complex company with very specific rules and regulations resulting in great success. An advantage of the Bureaucratic Management Theory is that it is the model by which all modern day theories are judged against. Some of the disadvantages of this theory are: the organization may become too focused on rules and regulations as opposed to success, rules and procedures can be stifling to flexibility and innovation of employees, upper management could be so preoccupied with rules that the customer ultimately suffers and rules and procedures can sap motivations from team members resulting in weak job performance. Essay about Symbolism in “The Story of an Hour” The symbols and imagery used by Kate Chopin s in The Story of an Hour give the reader a sense of Mrs. Mallard s new life appearing before her through her view of an open window (para. 4). Louise Mallard experiences what most individuals long for throughout their lives; freedom and happiness. By spending an hour in a comfortable, roomy armchair (para.4) in front of an open window, she undergoes a transformation that makes her understand the importance of her freedom. Immediately after the news of her husband s death, Mrs. Mallard races upstairs into her room where she settles into a comfortable, roomy armchair (para.4). The armchair symbolizes the rest from the oppressive life she had and freedom from society s expectations. Since it was tradition for women to be married by a certain age, Louise Mallard must have obligated to marry Brently. Sitting in the armchair, she gazes out of the window and starts indulges in deep thought, which establishes her as an intelligent individual. The open window from which Louise gazes is symbolic for her freedom and the good fortune that she is now presented with. Her attention to the blue sky, fluffy clouds, tree tops and the delicious breath of rain denote her newly found inner well being. The writer s use of language is well chosen as it explicitly portrays Mrs. Mallard s true feelings. By capturing all the senses, the imagery created represents Louise s new life and establishes her as a round character. The open window provides a clear and bright view into the distance of Louise s own bright future, which was obstructed by the demands of her husband. As Mrs. Mallard left the room, there was a feverish triumph in her eyes, and she carried herself unwittingly like a goddess of Victory (para.19). For many, the results of the election were shocking because the candidates in this election were so different. When the voting data was broken down into different amounts of education per vote, the results were close. The data showed that 51 percent of people who had a high school degree or less, and 52 percent of people who had at least some college voted for Trump. The rest of the votes for Hillary came from 49 percent of college graduates and 58 percent of postgraduates. To further this data, it was compared to race and gender. In practice, this means that an individual with amnesia may have good memory for childhood and for the years before the injury, but may remember little or nothing from the years since ( Anterograde ). Throughout the movie, Leonard recalls information that he remembered before his incident, such as the insurance case he investigated that dealt with another form of anterograde amnesia. Leonard has the ability to carry on normal conversations with people, but after the conversation in over or if he gets distracted for more than a few moments, he forgets what he was doing. This is because short term memory is generally spared, which means that the individual may be able to carry on a conversation; but as soon as he is distracted, the memory of the conversation fades ( Anterograde ). • 14. Atherosclerosis Research Papers Brief Introduction (max 200 words) Although it was believed for a long time that second hand smoke only affects smokers, since the early 1980s it has been known that non smoking family members of smokers have twice the risk of experiencing heart attacks than those in non smoking households. Consequently, people living and working in environments that contain second hand smoke suffer coronary heart diseases (CHD) due to the toxic substances of tobacco smoke. Key concepts (max 500 words) Second hand smoke (SHS) consists of smoke from the burning end of a cigarette and the smoke breathed out by smokers. SHS contains more than 7,000 chemicals and more than 200 of these are known poisons, such as carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide, and methyl isocyanate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the plaque, arteries become narrower, slowly blocking the blood flow and causing increased risks of CHD. When the artery narrows and blood flow is reduced, the oxygen supply is decreased. Most of the time a blood clot forms and blocks the artery, thus stopping the blood flow. If the oxygen supply to the heart is reduced, a heart attack can occur. If the oxygen supply to the brain is cut off, a stroke can occur. Therefore SHS accelerates atherosclerosis in the arteries and aorta and the toxic substances in the smoke that builds up in the arteries, results in increased risks of getting cardiovascular diseases. When someone smokes indoors, the smoke cannot be kept away by opening a window or using a fan. In fact, research shows that toxins from smoke remain in a person s hair and clothes and the surrounding environment. These toxins, are hazardous to infants and children. The only way to avoid the risks of smoke is to avoid places where smoking occurs. That can be done by making sure family, friends, and visitors never smoke inside your house or vehicle, thus helping to keep the house smoke free by. The government was able to identify these people through family members or close friends who informed on them. With this, people no longer expressed their true opinions and instead conformed with the government s ideas in fear of persecution ( Purges and Praises ). About 20 million people that were suspected of performing anti Soviet activities were executed, sent to Gulag labor camps, or forced them to take part in a show trial, where they would be forced plead guilty publicly to inconceivable crimes that they had never committed (Gracheva). Many officials and military leaders were also executed after being convicted of treason. It is estimated that one thirds of the Communist Party s three million members were put to death during the Great Purge. However, the traces of the people that were murdered were eliminated after the government rewrote history books and doctored photographs to exclude them. Additionally, members of the NKVD, the Soviet secret police, were killed at the end of the Great Purges, so that the people that had known too much about this event would be eliminated. • 17. Defining Characteristics Of The Manic Pixie Dream Girl The Manic Pixie Problem Picture this a brooding, angsty male character with a cynical world view falls in love with an unconventional, wild hearted girl with multiple strange quirks who brightens up his life like the sun. If this sounds in any way familiar, it s because these are the defining characteristics of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl, a stock character trope which plagues us across media, in television (e.g. the eponymous Mother in How I Met Your Mother), in film (Ramona Flowers in Scott Pilgrim vs The World, and Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany s) , in literature (Leslie in Bridge to Terabithia), and even in music (The Whole of the Moon by The Waterboys and Ruby Tuesday by The Rolling Stones). This trope deserves to be wiped out, mostly because it s heavily misogynist, but also because it is, frankly, annoying. By definition, the Manic Pixie Dream Girl s character arc will focus entirely on a male character, furthering or entirely causing his character development without having any of her own. Common themes on this are bringing him out of his shell or teaching him to see life in a different way. This plot line will most likely end in 2 different ways: ending up in a relationship with the male character or dying. As a result, it perpetuates the myth that women s lives are only about men and their relationships with men, romantic or otherwise. Additionally, men s self improvement and personal growth is absolutely not women s job to cause, and especially not at the expense of their own. Sweet, lovable women like the Manic Pixie Dream Girl deserve better than this. As said by Hugo Schwyzer in his article for The Atlantic, The Real World Consequences of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl Cliché ; We need women who are lead characters, but that s only part of the equation: we deserve to see men who love these women for the complicated, messy, decidedly non ethereal people they are. The male equivalent of this trope is rare, and is almost never the same as a Manic Pixie Dream Girl. The difference is that a Manic Pixie Dream Boy is usually young or immature, and while they are usually love interests as well, the Manic Pixie Dream Girl is usually a grown woman. Different than a motif, the theme of bravery actually takes form in Shakespeare s play and develops the play itself. However, like a motif, bravery is used intermittently throughout the play in different form and context. It captures different meanings and performs different capacities erratically. A denotative definition from the 15th century, according to the Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary (10 ed.), portrays brave as meaning, [from Old Italian and Spanish, meaning courageous, wild; probably from Latin, meaning barbarous]. Howe s anthology is written without metaphor to document the loss she felt after her brother s death. Although What the Living Do is written as an anthology, this collection allows for individual poems to stand alone but also to work together to tell an overarching story. Using the poetic devices of alliteration, enjambment, repetition and couplets, Howe furthers her themes of gender and loss throughout her poems in her anthology. Alliteration is prevalent in most of the poems in What the Living Do. Howe uses alliteration to bring attention to the line of poetry and her word choices are meant to evoke a response from the reader. For example, in the poem, The Promise, alliteration is used to further the themes of gender and loss, as the narrator states Dad was drunk again and dangerous (Howe 54). The alliteration of dad, drunk, and dangerous bring the reader s attention to this line and places emphasis on the idea of the narrator and her brother sharing this moment (line 13). Utilizing this emphasis, the narrator is able to highlight the loss of her brother as no one else has those shared memories with the narrator. Through alliteration, the theme of loss is clearly expressed by talking about the brother who has passed and who she has shared memories with. Comparing Movies And Viewing A Movie At Home Both going to the movies and viewing a movie at home, are great ways of escaping with the family from the everyday turmoil of actuality and experiencing a momentary virtual reality. But which of the two would be the better experience? Even though there are some similarities between going to the movies and watching them at home, there are some differences between the two, such as costs, the types of surrounding atmospheres, and the types of movies that can be watched during the times one wants to watch them. The first difference in the movie experience would be costs. As all people today know, entertainment can be a costly expense. For example, a family of three at a local AMC in Florida can expect to pay around $29.02 with tax included for two adult tickets, and an additional $11.33 if their child happens to be under the age of 12. Keep in mind this is not the price for a 3D film or an IMAX showing; that would be a few extra dollars (AMC Ticket Prices Movie Theater Prices). Now that the admission is paid for, it s time to head to the concession stand and get the family snacks. In efforts to keep the nightly costs reasonable, a small drink and small popcorn for one will cost $8.98, so for three people it would be a total of $26.94. The novel follows the lives of two young boys whom live in Afghanistan and the struggles within their lives as they grow older. The plot thickens with betrayals, broken relationships and injustice which in turn shape the way people in the novel are represented. The novel is told from the point of view of Amir, a rich Pashtun, and focuses on his friendship with a poor Hazara named Hassan spanning over 26 years. Hosseini brings forward the issues of rape, women in society and relationships between fathers and sons within the novel which shapes different responses from the audience due to context, specifically in regards to culture. As a result of this treatment the chances of survival for children suffering from pediatric cancer has increased around 80 percent. The increment in the survival rate has made it possible for many parents to not have to go through the acceptance that they are about to lose their child to a terminal illness, but have coping strategies that will make them adapt to the fear of the reoccurrence of that illness. Research has shown that there are both short term and long term effects that come into effect when the child is both in treatment and also years after the treatment. The type of cancers that these adolescents have to endure range from leukemia, brain tumors and other cancerous tumors that have appeared in recent medical studies. These tumors can either be benignant, an acute case that is non cancerous or malignant, a cancerous case that will need intense treatment over an extended period of time. While many would say there is more of a ... • 34. The Media Of Advertisements On Advertisements In today s fast paced world, media texts such as advertisements aim to convey meaning with a single glance. Through using clever tools to interpretation , rhetorical, genre and narratology this can be achieved, meaning that adverts on billboards or in magazines can successfully get their message across with no more than a fleeting look. It is the different combinations and the selected signs which allow us in general to convey meanings through any print advertisement and the connotations that these signs have and what we determine from different types of signs, through the process of signification. These tools allow brands, products, to anchor a product and create a naturalised myth of the product such as this product t will for fill your benefits , to sell it to the consumerist world. As we are now in an age of sophisticated advertising, there are no long written messages on the majority of print advertisements. It is down to certain tools to produce a complex network of signs to produce a direct anchored meaning and in most cases to avoid vagueness. There are many conventions that the genre of print advertisements and particularly headphone advertisements adheres to and outstanding to these common features we have certain expectations of what they will include. Brain On Love The Brain on Love All relationships change the brain but the most important ones are the intimate bonds that cultivate or ruin us, that shape one s memories, emotions and personality. Love carries multiple definitions but in one s own words, love is a deep emotion of affection and attachment toward others. It s been a significant theme for artists for thousands of years, being a source of inspiration for poetry, music, literature, paintings, and many other fine arts. According to the articles, Brain on Love , Love: A Biological, Psychological and Philosophical Study , and Love is more than just a kiss: A Neurobiological Perspective on Love and Affection , oxytocin, vasopressin, and dopamine are just a few of the neurotransmitters that release chemical responses in the brain when love occurs. Oxytocin is in nuclei of the hypothalamus and releases into the circulation by the pituitary gland (Boer, Buel, and Horst). Oxytocin plays an important role in pair bonding and romantic love. It encourages cuddling between lovers and increases pleasure during lovemaking (Chapman). Furthermore, oxytocin specifically activates a female s emotions of affection, trust, and security towards others (Brain on Love, 14). Vasopressin is quite like oxytocin in that it also triggers pair bonding. Especially in animals, vasopressin allows pair bonding to occur when two animals develop a strong attachment to each other, which then leads to mating and breeding. (Brain on Love, 14). Dopamine plays several roles in the human body, not just in the brain and is crucial when falling in love. Specifically, in the brain, dopamine plays a significant role in attraction. It stimulates the hypothalamus to release multiple hormones (Chapman). Dopamine is associated as the pleasure system of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is an America every bit as Victorian as her contemporary England. Into this world arrives Countess Ellen Olenska (Michelle Pfeiffer), a woman who has spent much of her life in Europe and is now escaping from a disastrous marriage. Her initial adult meeting with Newland Archer (Daniel Day Lewis) is sedate he is engaged to her cousin May (Winona Ryder) but there is a subtle fire smouldering from the first glance. The scenes of artfully prepared meals are enough to make mouths water, and it s almost possible to smell the pungent aroma of cigars. In these elements of the film, Scorsese was ably assisted by contributions from composer Elmer Bernstein and cinematographer Michael Ballhaus. The set design and costumes are flawless, and the audience is legitimately transported to the nineteenth century (through the help of Troy, NY, where the principal filming was done, and the Philadelphia Academy of Music, which doubled as a New York opera house). This is not some mere token attempt to conjure up images of times past; Scorsese has put so much effort into the illusion that those who didn t know better would be willing to swear that he had discovered a time capsule. Adapting from the 1921 Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Edith Wharton (who also wrote Ethan Frome, a similar story of love and loss, which reached American screens earlier this year), Scorsese and Jay Cocks have successfully incorporated the conflict of emotion against societal pressures which lies at the heart of The Age of Innocence. Those watching the movie will understand that it is no easy task to resurrect a code of behavior long dead and buried. Daniel Day Lewis never fails to impress, even when he appears in a poor film. • 39. Comparing the Duties of the Individual in Antigone and A... Duties of the Individual in Antigone and A Doll s House The main theme that can be seen in both plays, Antigone and A Doll s House, is the duty to oneself as opposed to the duty to the state or to society. Should the two women, Nora in A Doll s House, and Antigone in Antigone, do what the state and society wishes them to do or should they follow their own conscience? Both plays focus on the conflict between individual laws and the state law, disobedience and obedience, and understanding oneself. In Antigone there is the contrasting view of the state law against the divine law. The state law may have some similarities to the divine law but they are not the same. For example the divine law ... Some may think that it is wrong that people should oppose the state s laws, and should just follow them, but then they will never get to have their own beliefs and never have a better understanding of themselves in the end. In Antigone there is the state and its laws, but in A Doll s House we see more of the society, and the laws it enforces on the individual. The society s rules prevent the characters from seeing and expressing their true nature. When Krogstad tells Nora that the law takes no account of good motives, she cries, Then they must be very bad laws (Ibsen page #). This causes a problem for the main female characters, in deciding if what they are doing is right or wrong. At the end of A Doll s House Nora realizes that she has lived as a doll , as her father s doll and then as her husband s doll, and has accepted the church and society without ever asking any questions about them. Then she questions herself whether the society she lives in is correct in its beliefs, or if what she thinks is correct and requires that she oppose society itself. But now I intend to learn. I must try to satisfy myself which is right, society or I (Ibsen page #). In the end she goes with her beliefs and opposes society, but at a great personal cost, because she had to leave her children behind. Some people will think that opposing the society is right and some will think that it is wrong. In the two plays there are the images of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
