A New Competitor Successfully Entering The Market Essay
The ERI naturally tends towards a dominance of large platforms due to strong cross side network
effects. Thus, the following strategic challenges impact the viability of a new competitor successfully
entering the market. The ERI currently has significant barriers to entry due to customer switching
costs, brand identity, customer loyalty and intellectual property. New competitors would need a
solution with enough value to justify a switch from the current leading platform for both restaurants
and diners. A new competitor in online reservations must face the challenge of building both sides of
its ecosystem: not enough restaurants on one side of the network leaves little incentive for diners to
sign up, and vice versa. Essentially, the RRI is winner take all market and competitors need consider
their chances of success before competing.
However, advancements in information technology (IT), specifically the internet and the cloud, have
highlighted the profitable concept of OpenTable s model and thus the threat of increased competition
is extremely high. The ERI is evolving rapidly and now is rich in enveloping opportunities. The
restaurant reservation industry is now primarily a technology based business which means barriers to
innovative disruption are high (May, 2015). A proliferation of competition from other online booking
platforms are now more easily able to incorporate similar features into their own service, and these
rapid technological changes may soon render Open

Connotation In The Deaf Community
As history progresses certain terms that hearing people use for the Deaf community have been
changed due to the negative connotation associated with the definitions. Due to the negative impacts
that some terms have there is a need to avoid them to respect the individuals that are in the Deaf
community. The three terms that should be avoided are hearing impaired , Deaf mute , and Hearing
handicap The term hearing impaired has a negative view towards the Deaf community and should be
avoided. In the past this was an acceptable term to use because it was thought to be politically correct,
but in present time this is not the case. The term impaired focuses solely on what a Deaf individual is
unable to do and implies that the impairment of not being able to hear needs to be fixed. It also implies
that being anything but hearing is not acceptable and that Deaf individuals are at a societal
disadvantage. Deaf individuals do not believe that they are at a disadvantage nor do they believe that
their deafness is an impairment. Therefore, this term should not be used all together due to the
negative connotation on the Deaf community and Deaf individuals. Deaf Mute is an offensive term
that should be avoided labeling someone that is Deaf. The term Deaf Mute was used heavily in the
18th 19th century. The term Deaf Mute was originally not intended to be disrespectful, but the belief
was that deafness caused muteness. This label was associated with Deaf individuals because it

A Research Study On Bpa
1). INTRODUCTION/ SPECIFIC AIMS, BACKGROUND AND SIGNIFICANCE.
Alexander Dianin was a Russian chemist who first compounded Bisphenol A, during the year 1891.
Bisphenol A is commonly referred to as BPA. Dianin was carrying out studies on phenol compounds
and synthesized BPA by condensing acetone with two equivalent parts of phenol. The A in BPA
denotes acetone in its composition. (1)
At first, the development of BPA was solely an academic exercise. Dianin was the chair of the
Chemistry Department / Imperial Medial Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia. (2) Modern organic
chemistry was in its beginning phases and the potential benefits from combining organic compounds
were being envisioned. Reports of BPA synthesis was first published in Eastern European chemistry
journals and eventually appeared in Western journals. For decades, BPA was referred to only as:
Dianin s Compound. (3) By today s organic chemistry standards, BPA is a relatively simple molecule
and is easy to produce industrially. However, in 1891, BPA s synthesis was a remarkable discovery.
BPA s laboratory synthesis demonstrated that the simplest member of the ketone group, acetone, could
be combined with two molecules of phenol. The result was a previously nonexistent artificial
compound. (4) Contrary to inorganic chemistry, this was not single elements reacting to form a
relatively small compound; organic chemistry had the potential of combining many more compounds
with seemingly unlimited potential of

How My Major and Minor Will Help in My Endeavors
Explaining the importance of my major and minor is very simple. My major will be general business;
the reasoning behind this choice is I have always been fascinated by business. I loved my economics
classes which fueled my interest for investing and looking at companies and gauging their worth and
risk. In this regard i feel like having a general business degree will help me find a job in anything
business as I will have a wide spread knowledge on the topic, while I do love business that is not my
main goal. To understand that you have to look at my minor, this will be communications.
I have always been a people person, I loved talking with everyone about anything and understanding
their interests and expressing my own. In the past semester I took a speech class and found I really
enjoyed it which got me thinking about what i wanted to do when I graduate. This is when it all comes
together. My major is business which will give me the background into business that I need. My minor
is communications which will give me the skills I need to go into either public relations or a salesman
for a large company. I feel the importance of these degrees should be easily identifiable. Everyone
needs someone to talk for and be the face for a large company. That is where I see myself in ten years,
working for a company as a public relations representative. My degree in business will give me
credibility and know how into the subject while my communications minor will give me the skill to

Walden Rhetorical Analysis
We can t live without nature. It s our home and way of life. Henry David Thoreau wrote a piece about
Walden Pond in the springtime. Thoreau discusses how nature has so much to offer. His use of
anaphora, diction, and imagery helps to show not only his love for nature, but the impact it has on us.
One device he uses to come across to the reader is anaphora. His love of nature was clear and he had
an eye for detail. Thoreau shows us this through his statement, It was the most ethereal flight I had
ever witnessed. This claim shows how much beauty he saw in nature. It was almost too perfect for this
world in his eyes. He then brings up questions like, O Death, where was thy sing? O Grave, where was
thy victory, then? Thoreau is leaving the reader wondering with these questions. Thoreau is
questioning nature now. When he goes in depth with anaphora it makes you think: why does nature
leave a sting? Why is death apart of this world? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diction is the author s choice of style to He wants the reader to understand more about nature.
Thoreau claimed, At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that
all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be infinitely wild, and unfathomed by us
because unfathomable. This discusses the author s purpose because he wants us to understand there is
so much more to learn. If we never explore we never grow. Thoreau also uses poetic diction like, We
need the tonic of wildness. This diction also tells us nature is it s own medicine. Without nature or
sunlight we wouldn t

Pawni Tribe Research Paper
The Pawnee people lived in what is now Oklahoma and Nebraska. The Pawnee people spoke the
Caddoan language, and they spoke to other tribes in the area using sign language. The Pawnee made
houses out of earth, which protected them from the elements. The Pawnee people had a traditional diet
plain tribe diet, which consisted of buffalo and vegetable. The most ghastly thing about them is that
they sacrificed humans! Daily life, diet, and the practice of human sacrifice are four important aspects
to understand the Pawnee People. The Pawnee lived in stationary houses except when they went on
buffalo hunts. They lived on the plains and since there were no trees on the plains shelter was difficult.
The Pawnee were able to overcome the issue by make earth lodges. They made the lodges by putting
polls in a circle, and having the tops be forked (Alchin). Then, they put crossbeams on in and filled in
the holes with reeds and grass, they then covered the structure in earth. The finished product would be
oval shaped (Alchin). The lodges were able to stow 30 to 50 people in one lodge, and there were about
15 lodges in every village (The Pawnee Indian Tribe). Inhabitants of the villages usually changed
lodges with other Pawnees, but they generally stayed in the same village (The Pawnee Indian Tribe).

Bar Soap Synthesis Lab From Fats And Lye
Bar Soap Synthesis Lab from Fats and Lye
Introduction
When an acid and a base combine they neutralize each other and make a salt. In simple terms,
saponification is the name for a chemical reaction between an acid and a base to form a salt called
soap. 409575187388500 Saponification has been used for centuries as a part of the soap making
industry. Many companies create a variety of soap products for commercial use, soaps can be in
multiple forms like bars, liquid, or even powder. In this lab it was planned to create a bar of soap.
Heating triglyceride in a fat or oil with an aqueous alkali, sodium hydroxide, results in hydrolysis of
the triglyceride esters forming soap. (Ausetute, 2014) A visual aid is presented in figure 1. (Chem La
Tech, 2003)
To create soap, two major raw materials are needed, fat and alkali. The alkali most commonly used
today in soap making is sodium hydroxide. Potassium hydroxide can also be used. The alkali used in
this lab was sodium hydroxide; sodium hydroxide was used as a reagent which is a substance that is
used in a chemical reaction to produce other substances. The common term for an alkali is simply lye .
Modern soap makers use fat that has been processed into fatty acids. (Made How, 2008) This removes
many contaminations and it produces as a by product of water instead of glycerin. Many vegetable
fats, including olive oil and coconut oil, are also used in soap making. Since the fat or oil starting
materials are not soluble in water, the

The Pros And Cons Of The Democratic-Republican Party
In 1792, the world s oldest political party, the Democratic Party, was founded. During the presidency
of President Andrew Jackson in 1830, the party adopted its name as the Democratic Party as it is
known now. Prior to the renaming of the party, it was known as the Democratic Republican Party
founded by James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson in opposition of the Federalist Party. The
Democratic Party s purposed served to supported states rights and the strict interpretation of the
Constitution (Mayne, 1). Correspondingly, providing financial support to family based agriculture was
one of their main priorities (Mayne, 1). The Federalist Party, their opposition, consisted of wealthy
elites that strived, and fought for one strong all ruling national government, rather than state
governments. As the United States had just recently become independent, the Democratic Republican
Party was determined to prevent the United States from becoming a monarchy. Over the next century,
the Democratic Republican party began to split due to the lack of agreement on major ideas which led
to the current two party system. However, some ideologies remain the same such as moral stance, and
socioeconomic status. Other ideologies like economic view and stance on government power have
caused this split between the Democratic and Republican parties (Mayne, 22). It is imperative to
remember that even though these two parties are completely different, they originated from the same
party with one main goal; To create a government that is run for and by its people (Mayne, 23). I have
still not developed a political identity, but over the past three years of my residence in the United
States, I am more in favor of the Democratic Party and what they stand for. At first, the Democratic
Party started out as the conservative party and the Republicans were the liberals. However, over time,
the Democratic Party has associated itself with social liberalism. Social liberalism is a political
ideology which states that individual liberty requires social justice (DeMichele, 11). To be more
precise, social liberal values include: equal pay, importance of women s rights and healthcare rights,
pro safety, a progressive approach to taxation, and union

Goose Creek Performing Arts Center
Goose Creek Performing Arts Center has adapted Lewis Carroll s story Alice In the Wonderland into a
hour and half long play. The students was a combination of junior and seniors. On November the 8th,

weird creatures and people. She began to eat and drink things that changes her size but she still can t
fit through the garden door. As Alice (Sara Goodman) began crying she drowns in her own tears which
is displayed by a water sound and waves in the background. She finds the rabbit s house but once she
fans herself she scares the rabbit because of her size. Then she came across the Caterpillar (Joseph
Mohlenhoff) with a green face and enormous costume who she seeks advice from. But under one
condition Alice must recite pottery however she is unable to. Alice (Sara) comes to a house in the
woods where the Cheshire cat (Lalia Auld), Duchess (Aysha Stevenson) and ugly baby (doll) and cook

Pablo Picasso s Gruernica Essay examples
In 1937, Pablo Picasso depicts an epic event in history in his Guernica using visual symbolism, line,
space, light and color which advocates to the observer the truth behind the subject matter of the
artwork itself. The line used leads to specific images to tell the story; the space throughout the work is
filled with many jagged and sharp shapes with an odd use of positive and negative space. The light
and color illuminate the actual scene. Knowing and understanding how the artist uses these three
fundamental tools will guide us to the meaning and logic of the artwork.
Pablo Picasso s use of line gives a sense of direction almost as key to unlock the meaning of the
artwork. In our culture we read from left to write. The artist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Now combined with the images of the candle, the light fixture and the horse we gather that, by
definition, the horse is the most economically important domesticated animal and was diminished due
to mechanization. The candle next to the light shows us a change in technology, advocating the death
of the horse with a spear in the side, as the destruction of Spain s cultural origins. Finally we see the
horse leading us back to the bull where between both heads we see the spirit flying away alerting us
that soul and spirit is being ripped away, that death is coming no matter if it is in a bull fight or a
battle, everything that lives will die.
Picasso s use of space in this masterpiece leads to similar conclusions to pain, suffering and the
eventual death of an ancient city or any living thing. This piece is extremely vivid and the use of space
used is probably breaking all the rules of art, but if we think about what we are actually seeing we are
not really looking at just art, we are looking at inhumane events in the world and it almost holds an
obligation to exploit the boundaries of art to get the desired effect which the artist has done
intentionally. Most art works contains non busy and busy areas which are proportional to one another
but in life we know that the main focus in the real world is all the chaos and that there is no balance
just that tunnel vision effect of the awe stricken horror. Even in the use of light and color Picasso
conveys the

Swimming To Antarctica Summary
Swimming to Antarctica is a story about how Lynne Cox attempt to complete the grueling swim.
Lynne s goal to finish the swim is motivated by her effort, determination and bravery. Can Lynne
overcome her difficulties and finish the swim, or will she let it all slip away?
Lynne will be doing a mile long swim in the freezing, thirty two degree water. That is the temperature
when fresh water freezes. If Lynne s cells froze, then the body tissue could result in a permanent life
threatening situation. In Lynne s cabin she questioned herself, Would my core temperature drop faster?
, Would i be able to tell if I was in immediate danger? . Did she really want to take such a risk, one
part of her wanted it and another did not. The next morning Lynne walked down to the ship s library
and drank four eight ounce cups of hot water, and ate two small croissants for breakfast. The reason
she ate and drank these is because they are high in fat and carbohydrates. Swimmers need these
because the water is so cold the layer of fat would help keep her warm. Gabriella came in to take a
core temperature, it was about 100.4 degrees. This was higher than usual, because she was so psyched.
She rubbed sunscreen on her face, but none on her arms and legs because she would be slippery if the
crew needed to pull her out of the water in an emergency. Before Lynne stepped out onto the ramp Dr.
Block traced two veins in her arm with a blue marker, it was just a precaution in case of an emergency.

Failure And Overcoming Adversity
Failure is certain for every human being on this planet. We all have a time where we fall short of
something or don t get things accomplished the way we like to. But it is all about whether you can
face adversity, and can you face the challenge that failure brings.
Failure it is not a great feeling to experience especially when you set the bar high for yourself. With
failure comes stress and you can really start kicking yourself for it. Failure can take over the mental
mindset of some one. Think about it when you fail at what you do that is the most vivid thing on your
mind. It is all you can think about and then it can start to take a toll. I remember I was going into the

The Thin Red Line Presents War
We return to the present and we see Ryan questioning whether he was a good man and made the most
of his life for the sake of those soldiers who laid their life down for his. His wife reassures Ryan that
he honored their memory. The ending presents itself as a perfect ending, even though many died for
Ryan he did not squander the opportunity granted to him and he upheld their memory. In the end it
was a perfect Hollywood blockbuster, everything happened for a reason and it was a beautiful story
filled with friendship, hardship, loss, and love. Those are the characteristics we use to romanticize
war, a journey full of loss, hardships, and friendship that in the end there is peace. The Thin Red Line
presents war in a different light the entire premise is the war. There are varying voices narrating
throughout the movie, they speak of war as the destruction of the human soul. War is characterized as
a game of chance where your life hangs on only chance. The movie begins with a voice saying, What
s this war in the heart of nature? Why does nature vie with itself? it appears like a metaphor for human
life and why do humans war one another. We then see a village in the pacific with natives living a
simple life undisturbed then we see Witt and another soldier who appear to be living with the natives.
Witt then talks about his mother dying and realizes that dying peacefully is where immortality is
hidden. This presents that there is no beautify in war, as no death is

How A Protein Is Made Up Of Amino Acids
A protein is made up of amino acids there are more than one hundred amino acids which occur
naturally but only twenty of them are used in the synthesis of proteins. (REFERENCE) Proteins are
not organic compounds because in addition to carbon and hydrogen, they also contain a variety of
compounds found in the variable region of their structure such as sulphur as well as oxygen and
nitrogen found in their constant region. (REFERENCE)

AminoAcidball.svg.png)
An amino acid is comprised of an amino group which is the N2H portion of the compound, a single
hydrogen atom bonded to the central carbon, a carboxyl group made up of a carbon atom which is
double bonded to an atom of oxygen, and a hydroxyl group which is singly bound to the carbon also.
Finally, also bound to the central carbon is a variable group indicated on Figure 1 with an R. This is
what determines which amino acid is formed. For example, Glycine s variable region includes a single
hydrogen atom whereas Serine s contains CH2 OH.
The primary structure of a protein is the sequence of amino acids. This creates a polypeptide chain
because each amino acid acts as a monomer so when they bind together they form a polymer. When
amino acids bond together, a peptide bond is formed. This occurs when there is a condensation
reaction and H2O is lost from the two amino acids and a bond forms between the carbon on one amino
acid and the

Reflection Of Consumer Chemistry
INTRODUCTION: Nowadays, people here in this world are using science in their everyday lives.
When you fry a fish, there s a science. When you wash your clothes, there s a science behind it.
Everything is science. There are different branches of science. Including Biology, Botany, Zoology,
and many more. But one of the most used in everyday life in the branches of science is the
CHEMISTRY. It is a branch of physical science that deals with composition, structure, properties and
changes of matter. Chemistry is the one who is responsible for photosynthesis (plants making food for
their own). But Consumer chemistry is the one that deals with humans in our everyday lives.
Consumer Chemistry is the branch of Chemistry that makes consumable products. Consumer

Jim Jarmusch Use Of Gothic Style In Vampire Films
At it s surface, Gothic style in vampire films has been defined by gloomy settings, violent and
immoral action, as well as a mood of decadence and decay. It is truly a large genre which initially was
constructed to be outside, if not entirely subversive to the mainstream popular culture. However,
overuse of gothic aesthetics in film over the decades has anesthetized the intended effects, causing it
to lose some of it s purpose and specificity. Gothic aesthetics have so thoroughly saturated horror film
and media that it is now iconic, and therefore normalized, as an expected facet of vampire storytelling.
The initial point of Gothicism was to induce fear and desire within the viewer. It was intended to
portray otherness in terms of beauty, morality and humanity. That effect has been lost as the gothic ...

The Great Achilles
The Great Achilles, great for his passion, skills in the art of war, however, something eerily stands of
in his almost dominating, charismatic character. His wrath is that of none. The merciless Achilles,
why? Why would the poet choose to focus on the wrath of Achilles more than anything in The Illiad?
From his apparent distain towards Agamemnon, to his seething anger towards the Gods, leading to the
gut wrenching revenge inflicted upon Hector, it is clear as day that Achilles s wrath is one of the most
highlighted attributes of any character in English language today. You may feel as though your
personal pride and ego play apart in your daily lives, as for the feud between Achilles and
Agamemnon, one could argue they wouldn t inhale a single breathe not being in the name of their

The Discovery Of The Corona Project Essay
The Corona project was developed from the 1946 Operation Crossroads where the US government
was conducting and underwater testing in the bikini islands. The US government was interested in
studying the effects of an underwater nuclear explosion on a naval fleet so they took decommissioned
Navy ships and set them up above the area of the explosion. To observe the test the US sent a large
amount of RB 29 airplanes above the test site laden with cameras and photographic reconnaissance
experts to operate them. The effects of the explosion were so devastating that the naval ships were
tossed around like they were made of paper. Walter Levison like many others that observed this
experiment were WWII veterans and were so appalled by the destruction of the bomb that they wanted
the US government to start focusing on how to prevent war rather than creating more nuclear weapons
At this time in history the threat of a third world war was foremost on everyone s mind as the cold war
between the Soviet Union and the US was heating up. There was a real fear at this time that the soviet
union was developing nuclear weapons for a surprise attack on Europe and the US. The actual strength
and numbers of the soviet army was a secret and the US government wanted to know the size and
strength of their forces. Traditional methods of on ground spying in the 1940 s did little to shed any
light and airplanes of the day did not have the technology to stay out for extended periods of time to

Bar Baker Research Paper
Bart Baker I one of my favorite comedians. He makes the BEST parodies on youtube. The jokes he
makes are ridiculously hilarious. So much so that they make you laugh until your voice box shrivels
into dust (Spongebob). You won t notice you re not making a sound as you continue to laugh yourself
into a coma. But as you are in said coma, the margin helping you breath, is cracked to the max
because you re still somehow laughing. The doctors will be able to replace your voice box from a
donor while you re in the coma. Your still happening laughter will be so strong that you ll be woken

The Gap Between Science And Science Fiction
Science fiction is full of machines that have feelings. In 2001: A Space Odyssey, the onboard
computer turns against the crew of the spaceship Discovery 1, and utters cries of pain and fear when
his circuits are finally taken apart. In Blade Runner, a humanoid robot is distressed to learn that her
memories are not real, but have been implanted in her silicon brain by her programmer. In
Bicentennial Man, Robin Williams plays the part of a robot who redesigns his own circuitry so that he
can experience the full range of human feelings. These stories achieve their effect in part because the
capacity for emotion is often considered to be one of the main differences between humans and
machines. This is certainly true of the machines we know today. The responses we receive from
computers are rather dry affairs, such as System error 1378 . People sometimes get angry with their
computers and shout at them as if they had emotions, but the computers take no notice. They neither
feel their own feelings, nor recognize yours. The gap between science fiction and science fact appears
vast, but some researchers in artificial intelligence now believe it is only a question of time before it is
bridged.
The new field of affective computing has already made some progress in building primitive emotional
machines, and every month brings new advances. However, some critics argue that a machine could
never come to have real emotions like ours. At best, they claim, clever programming might allow

Leadership Is Important When Conducting A Organization,...
Leadership is important when conducting a organization, program, or event. There are many changes
in educational organizations. The article talks about how educational organizations can adjust to
change and what it takes to implement change. Change is always good especially with the changes of
time. Technology is way more advance in the millieum era then it was in the 1990 s so changing
educational organizations should arrange with the advancement of the era. Educational organizations
that are behind with advancement could possibly fail and not succeed with a lack of participants.
According to Martincic They are incited by a number of factors: technological advancement, changed
expectations and needs of the clients, change market conditions, changing of legistration, changed
social values etc. (p.g 1). The article also goes into detail about being able to come together and take
intination in developing a plan to create change.
When individuals want to implement change they have to develop not only a plan but also have
resources and a committee or team. Therefore more then one idea or suggestion will make the plan
worthwhile of pursuing. Individuals who would want change also have to reach out to stakeholders
and politicians. Politicans are on the forefront of reaching a lot of people. As said by Martincic (2015),
Much more interesting for the long term efficiency of an organization is the change that orginates
from the organization itself as premediated, planned

Educational Benefits Of Computer Games
Educational benefits of computer games for kids
Long before computers become common for home use, children from not well up families did not
have access to computers. This means that children did not involve themselves with computers and
computers games too. With computers becoming common not only to offices but homes too, children
are able to access the computer easily and more to it have given up their physical games to involve
themselves with computers games. To this effect, concern have been raised in form of thesis claiming
that children playing computer learning games learn faster and they retain what they have played.
The above thesis is true to some extent because it is taken like experiments done in higher level
education, the task will be retained in one s head. Likewise when a child plays a learning game that
requires he or she to practice a certain activity for a long time that point will stick to that kind s mind
the same way a student will vividly remember an experiment process carried out in the laboratory. It is
also noted that computer learning games form a part of entertainment. Research carried out by
institute of center for study of children, youth and media indicate that it is easier for children to
remember a movie they had watched sometimes back. Likewise through computer video games they
will remember the game as a video. Through this remembering of that game these children will be
recalling an educational concept.
Further indications shows that a

The Importance of Personal Responsibility
The Importance of Personal Responsibility
GEN/200
As an adult you are responsible for every action that you take, but before that action are a series of
thoughts that lead you to taking that action. Your personal responsibility starts at a young age, you are
either taught personal responsibility as you grow into an adult by being held accountable of your own
actions or the responsibility is taken from you. Depending on how you were brought up your transition
into becoming an adult can either be an easy one or a difficult one where everyone is to blame but
yourself. As an adult the one thing that you know is a constant is that you will be held accountable for
your actions whether you like it or not.

My Wrestling Experience
Wrestling has been a huge aspect and a great experience of my high school career. Wrestling has
taught me a lot over the past three years from hard work all the way to ethics. But the most important
thing has taught me morph my failure into success. That with hard work anything may be achieved.
My freshman year I was really overweight and could not keep up with any of the intense exercises we
would do. I did not win a single match all year and basically did not improve all year. The worst part
is that some of my wrestling peers told me to just quit. That I would never improve and not do well at
the sport.I seriously contemplated every day during wrestling season and after if I wanted to continue
the sport. I would constantly hear my peers you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But those remarks are what motivated me to improve. I did have good friends who actually believed in
me and told me to not quit it will pay off. Sophomore year comes around and we start to practice in
the room. I had improved a bit because I had gone to the summer practices. They had given mi
endurance so that I could keep up with the intensive exercises. It felt amazing to be able to keep up
with everything. First tournament comes around and I am pumped because I had put in all the work
and pushed myself everyday. First day I lose both of my matches and puts me into the loser s bracket.
The next day I lose 3 straight matches. I had become really frustrated because I was giving it my all
and I still couldn t win a single match. My final match comes up and I win it. I had this surge of joy
jumping inside of me but on the outside I still had my wrestling face on. My coach taught me to
always get up and shake your opponent s hand even if you lose. I had that down. But he also taught
me that when you win you act as if you had done it a thousand times. I headed back to the stands and
my whole team was congratulating me. That was an amazing feeling, finally being able to celebrate a
win. My friends were right after all. I am currently in my fourth year in wrestling and I have improved
drastically. All the failure I had experienced as a beginner, taught me a life lesson. That failure is a vital
step to success. Without the experience of wrestling I would have never learned this valuable

Essay on Origin and Story of Soy Sauce
Imagine you are at you favorite Asian inspired restaurant with your friends. You just finished ordering
your food, when u look over and see that bottle of dark syrupy liquid off to the side. Known around
the world, Soy sauce is an international condiment that is used as a sauce, a condiment, as well as an
ingredient in plenty of dishes and recipes. Although this condiment is seen a lot in most Asian style
restaurants or even in packets from your Chinese take out place but it is used all over the world But
have you ever wanted to know exactly is soy sauce, or how its made and what gives it that dark color?

These merchants gave their new sauce a name which they hoped would catch on in their own language
and also help it to sell. Then they started to distribute it widely. By December 1750 it had reached the
North America, arriving first in New York Harbor bearing the name India Soy. (Shurtleff
Aoyagi,2012)
Now, I will explain the process of making soy sauce. Now we all know that soy sauce comes from soy
beans, but how is it turned into the dark syrupy liquid? These use a process called fermentation, which
a way of cooking a food using bacteria. There are two distinct ways to making soy sauce, there is the
traditional brewing fermentation and refining process, and then there is a chemical non brewing
process called chemical hydrolyzation. The fermentation method takes up to six months to complete
and results in a transparent, delicately colored broth with balanced flavor and aroma but the non
brewing method is done in two days and has a harsher flavor and is opaque in color with a strong
chemical aroma. The basic raw ingredients are soy beans, wheat, and salt. There is also the
introduction of bacteria called Aspergillus oryzae or Aspergillus soyae, which breaks down the proteins
in the soybeans.
So, in a nutshell, this is how the process works. First they blend or mash the soybeans and wheat,
adding it to water and boiling it till the seeds are softened. Then they add a seed mold to

Greece
Background on Greece s Debt Crisis You cannot spend more than (what) you earn...you should not
borrow more than (what) you can afford. This, according to an editorial published by the Greek
newspaper Kathimerini, may be the lesson Greeks are now learning the hard way.1 Unrestrained
spending of successive Greek governments over a long period may have driven the country s budget
and current account deficits.2 Greece borrowed heavily from international capital markets to finance
public sector jobs, pensions and other social benefits.3 As deficits and the country s debt burden grew,
the governments just kept on borrowing. 4 When Greece joined the eurozone in 2001, it gained
monetary stability and was able to borrow at lower interest rates ... Show more content on

With the lowest rating in the eurozone, Greek bonds are now viewed as a highly risky investment by
foreign investors.9 Consequently, Greek bond yields increased in 2010. Greek 10 year bond yields
used to be 10 to 40 basis points above German 10year bonds prior to the crisis. However, with the
crisis, the spread increased to over 400 basis points in January 2010. This high bond spread further
underscores investors loss of confidence in the Greek economy. 10 In April 2010, Eurostat, the
Statistical Office of the European Communities, estimated Greece s budget deficit to be 13.6% of
GDP almost a full percentage higher than the 12.7% estimate

Our Mother Language Day
(21st February)
UNESCO s declaration of 21st February as the International Mother Language Day has brought fresh
glory and prestige to Bangladesh which is making significant strides towards peace, progress and
prosperity at home and discharging international obligations abroad. After 1952, the people of
Bangladesh have been observing every year the 21st day of February as their glorious and
unforgettable Language Martyrs Day. What happened on 21st February 1952 is widely known. Still let
us very briefly recount the fateful happenings of that day and the circumstances that led to and
followed them.

Yet so long, it has been mainly a national event of Bangladesh. But with the declaration of 21st
February as the International Mother Language Day, it has transcended the national borders of
Bangladesh and acquired an international significance and a global dimension.
International Mother Language Day is particularly significant in the sense that it has a cultural
importance. From now on, 21st February so long observed in Bangladesh as the Bangla Language
Martyrs Day will be observed here simultaneously as the Bangla Language Martyrs Day and the
International Mother Language Day. And in nearly 200 countries of the world, various peoples
speaking various languages and belonging to various national cultures will observe 21st February as
the International Mother Language Day. They will naturally celebrate their own mother languages, but
while doing so, it is more than likely that they will refer to Bangladesh and the Language Movement
launched by her people that reached a climactic point on 21st February 1952.
The declaration made by the UNESCO in November 1999 designating 21st February as the
International Mother Language Day has placed Bangladesh on the cultural map of the world with a
highly positive image. We, people of Bangladesh, should now do all that we can to further develop our
mother language Bangla in all branches of knowledge so that it can play a worthy role in the
community of world languages. We shall love, cherish and promote Bangla,

  • 2. A New Competitor Successfully Entering The Market Essay The ERI naturally tends towards a dominance of large platforms due to strong cross side network effects. Thus, the following strategic challenges impact the viability of a new competitor successfully entering the market. The ERI currently has significant barriers to entry due to customer switching costs, brand identity, customer loyalty and intellectual property. New competitors would need a solution with enough value to justify a switch from the current leading platform for both restaurants and diners. A new competitor in online reservations must face the challenge of building both sides of its ecosystem: not enough restaurants on one side of the network leaves little incentive for diners to sign up, and vice versa. Essentially, the RRI is winner take all market and competitors need consider their chances of success before competing. However, advancements in information technology (IT), specifically the internet and the cloud, have highlighted the profitable concept of OpenTable s model and thus the threat of increased competition is extremely high. The ERI is evolving rapidly and now is rich in enveloping opportunities. The restaurant reservation industry is now primarily a technology based business which means barriers to innovative disruption are high (May, 2015). A proliferation of competition from other online booking platforms are now more easily able to incorporate similar features into their own service, and these rapid technological changes may soon render Open ... • 3. Connotation In The Deaf Community As history progresses certain terms that hearing people use for the Deaf community have been changed due to the negative connotation associated with the definitions. Due to the negative impacts that some terms have there is a need to avoid them to respect the individuals that are in the Deaf community. The three terms that should be avoided are hearing impaired , Deaf mute , and Hearing handicap The term hearing impaired has a negative view towards the Deaf community and should be avoided. In the past this was an acceptable term to use because it was thought to be politically correct, but in present time this is not the case. The term impaired focuses solely on what a Deaf individual is unable to do and implies that the impairment of not being able to hear needs to be fixed. It also implies that being anything but hearing is not acceptable and that Deaf individuals are at a societal disadvantage. Deaf individuals do not believe that they are at a disadvantage nor do they believe that their deafness is an impairment. Therefore, this term should not be used all together due to the negative connotation on the Deaf community and Deaf individuals. Deaf Mute is an offensive term that should be avoided labeling someone that is Deaf. The term Deaf Mute was used heavily in the 18th 19th century. The term Deaf Mute was originally not intended to be disrespectful, but the belief was that deafness caused muteness. This label was associated with Deaf individuals because it ... • 4. A Research Study On Bpa 1). INTRODUCTION/ SPECIFIC AIMS, BACKGROUND AND SIGNIFICANCE. Alexander Dianin was a Russian chemist who first compounded Bisphenol A, during the year 1891. Bisphenol A is commonly referred to as BPA. Dianin was carrying out studies on phenol compounds and synthesized BPA by condensing acetone with two equivalent parts of phenol. The A in BPA denotes acetone in its composition. (1) At first, the development of BPA was solely an academic exercise. Dianin was the chair of the Chemistry Department / Imperial Medial Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia. (2) Modern organic chemistry was in its beginning phases and the potential benefits from combining organic compounds were being envisioned. Reports of BPA synthesis was first published in Eastern European chemistry journals and eventually appeared in Western journals. For decades, BPA was referred to only as: Dianin s Compound. (3) By today s organic chemistry standards, BPA is a relatively simple molecule and is easy to produce industrially. However, in 1891, BPA s synthesis was a remarkable discovery. BPA s laboratory synthesis demonstrated that the simplest member of the ketone group, acetone, could be combined with two molecules of phenol. The result was a previously nonexistent artificial compound. (4) Contrary to inorganic chemistry, this was not single elements reacting to form a relatively small compound; organic chemistry had the potential of combining many more compounds with seemingly unlimited potential of ... • 5. How My Major and Minor Will Help in My Endeavors Explaining the importance of my major and minor is very simple. My major will be general business; the reasoning behind this choice is I have always been fascinated by business. I loved my economics classes which fueled my interest for investing and looking at companies and gauging their worth and risk. In this regard i feel like having a general business degree will help me find a job in anything business as I will have a wide spread knowledge on the topic, while I do love business that is not my main goal. To understand that you have to look at my minor, this will be communications. I have always been a people person, I loved talking with everyone about anything and understanding their interests and expressing my own. In the past semester I took a speech class and found I really enjoyed it which got me thinking about what i wanted to do when I graduate. This is when it all comes together. My major is business which will give me the background into business that I need. My minor is communications which will give me the skills I need to go into either public relations or a salesman for a large company. I feel the importance of these degrees should be easily identifiable. Everyone needs someone to talk for and be the face for a large company. That is where I see myself in ten years, working for a company as a public relations representative. • 6. Walden Rhetorical Analysis We can t live without nature. It s our home and way of life. Henry David Thoreau wrote a piece about Walden Pond in the springtime. Thoreau discusses how nature has so much to offer. His use of anaphora, diction, and imagery helps to show not only his love for nature, but the impact it has on us. One device he uses to come across to the reader is anaphora. His love of nature was clear and he had an eye for detail. Thoreau shows us this through his statement, It was the most ethereal flight I had ever witnessed. This claim shows how much beauty he saw in nature. It was almost too perfect for this world in his eyes. He then brings up questions like, O Death, where was thy sing? O Grave, where was thy victory, then? Thoreau is leaving the reader wondering with these questions. Thoreau is questioning nature now. When he goes in depth with anaphora it makes you think: why does nature leave a sting? Why is death apart of this world? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Diction is the author s choice of style to He wants the reader to understand more about nature. Thoreau claimed, At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be infinitely wild, and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. This discusses the author s purpose because he wants us to understand there is so much more to learn. If we never explore we never grow. Thoreau also uses poetic diction like, We need the tonic of wildness. This diction also tells us nature is it s own medicine. Without nature or sunlight we wouldn t ... The Pawnee people spoke the Caddoan language, and they spoke to other tribes in the area using sign language. The Pawnee made houses out of earth, which protected them from the elements. The Pawnee people had a traditional diet plain tribe diet, which consisted of buffalo and vegetable. The most ghastly thing about them is that they sacrificed humans! Daily life, diet, and the practice of human sacrifice are four important aspects to understand the Pawnee People. The Pawnee lived in stationary houses except when they went on buffalo hunts. They lived on the plains and since there were no trees on the plains shelter was difficult. The Pawnee were able to overcome the issue by make earth lodges. They made the lodges by putting polls in a circle, and having the tops be forked (Alchin). Then, they put crossbeams on in and filled in the holes with reeds and grass, they then covered the structure in earth. The finished product would be oval shaped (Alchin). The lodges were able to stow 30 to 50 people in one lodge, and there were about 15 lodges in every village (The Pawnee Indian Tribe). • 8. Bar Soap Synthesis Lab From Fats And Lye Bar Soap Synthesis Lab from Fats and Lye Introduction When an acid and a base combine they neutralize each other and make a salt. In simple terms, saponification is the name for a chemical reaction between an acid and a base to form a salt called soap. 409575187388500 Saponification has been used for centuries as a part of the soap making industry. Many companies create a variety of soap products for commercial use, soaps can be in multiple forms like bars, liquid, or even powder. In this lab it was planned to create a bar of soap. Heating triglyceride in a fat or oil with an aqueous alkali, sodium hydroxide, results in hydrolysis of the triglyceride esters forming soap. (Ausetute, 2014) A visual aid is presented in figure 1. (Chem La Tech, 2003) To create soap, two major raw materials are needed, fat and alkali. The alkali most commonly used today in soap making is sodium hydroxide. Potassium hydroxide can also be used. The alkali used in this lab was sodium hydroxide; sodium hydroxide was used as a reagent which is a substance that is used in a chemical reaction to produce other substances. The common term for an alkali is simply lye . Modern soap makers use fat that has been processed into fatty acids. (Made How, 2008) This removes many contaminations and it produces as a by product of water instead of glycerin. Many vegetable fats, including olive oil and coconut oil, are also used in soap making. • 9. The Pros And Cons Of The Democratic-Republican Party In 1792, the world s oldest political party, the Democratic Party, was founded. During the presidency of President Andrew Jackson in 1830, the party adopted its name as the Democratic Party as it is known now. Prior to the renaming of the party, it was known as the Democratic Republican Party founded by James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson in opposition of the Federalist Party. The Democratic Party s purposed served to supported states rights and the strict interpretation of the Constitution (Mayne, 1). Correspondingly, providing financial support to family based agriculture was one of their main priorities (Mayne, 1). The Federalist Party, their opposition, consisted of wealthy elites that strived, and fought for one strong all ruling national government, rather than state governments. As the United States had just recently become independent, the Democratic Republican Party was determined to prevent the United States from becoming a monarchy. Over the next century, the Democratic Republican party began to split due to the lack of agreement on major ideas which led to the current two party system. However, some ideologies remain the same such as moral stance, and socioeconomic status. Other ideologies like economic view and stance on government power have caused this split between the Democratic and Republican parties (Mayne, 22). It is imperative to remember that even though these two parties are completely different, they originated from the same party with one main goal; To create a government that is run for and by its people (Mayne, 23). I have still not developed a political identity, but over the past three years of my residence in the United States, I am more in favor of the Democratic Party and what they stand for. At first, the Democratic Party started out as the conservative party and the Republicans were the liberals. However, over time, the Democratic Party has associated itself with social liberalism. Social liberalism is a political ideology which states that individual liberty requires social justice (DeMichele, 11). To be more precise, social liberal values include: equal pay, importance of women s rights and healthcare rights, pro safety, a progressive approach to taxation, and union ... • 11. Pablo Picasso s Gruernica Essay examples In 1937, Pablo Picasso depicts an epic event in history in his Guernica using visual symbolism, line, space, light and color which advocates to the observer the truth behind the subject matter of the artwork itself. The line used leads to specific images to tell the story; the space throughout the work is filled with many jagged and sharp shapes with an odd use of positive and negative space. The light and color illuminate the actual scene. Knowing and understanding how the artist uses these three fundamental tools will guide us to the meaning and logic of the artwork. Pablo Picasso s use of line gives a sense of direction almost as key to unlock the meaning of the artwork. In our culture we read from left to write. The artist ... Now combined with the images of the candle, the light fixture and the horse we gather that, by definition, the horse is the most economically important domesticated animal and was diminished due to mechanization. The candle next to the light shows us a change in technology, advocating the death of the horse with a spear in the side, as the destruction of Spain s cultural origins. Finally we see the horse leading us back to the bull where between both heads we see the spirit flying away alerting us that soul and spirit is being ripped away, that death is coming no matter if it is in a bull fight or a battle, everything that lives will die. Picasso s use of space in this masterpiece leads to similar conclusions to pain, suffering and the eventual death of an ancient city or any living thing. This piece is extremely vivid and the use of space used is probably breaking all the rules of art, but if we think about what we are actually seeing we are not really looking at just art, we are looking at inhumane events in the world and it almost holds an obligation to exploit the boundaries of art to get the desired effect which the artist has done intentionally. Most art works contains non busy and busy areas which are proportional to one another but in life we know that the main focus in the real world is all the chaos and that there is no balance just that tunnel vision effect of the awe stricken horror. • 12. Swimming To Antarctica Summary Swimming to Antarctica is a story about how Lynne Cox attempt to complete the grueling swim. Lynne s goal to finish the swim is motivated by her effort, determination and bravery. Can Lynne overcome her difficulties and finish the swim, or will she let it all slip away? Lynne will be doing a mile long swim in the freezing, thirty two degree water. That is the temperature when fresh water freezes. If Lynne s cells froze, then the body tissue could result in a permanent life threatening situation. In Lynne s cabin she questioned herself, Would my core temperature drop faster? , Would i be able to tell if I was in immediate danger? . Did she really want to take such a risk, one part of her wanted it and another did not. The next morning Lynne walked down to the ship s library and drank four eight ounce cups of hot water, and ate two small croissants for breakfast. The reason she ate and drank these is because they are high in fat and carbohydrates. Swimmers need these because the water is so cold the layer of fat would help keep her warm. Gabriella came in to take a core temperature, it was about 100.4 degrees. This was higher than usual, because she was so psyched. She rubbed sunscreen on her face, but none on her arms and legs because she would be slippery if the crew needed to pull her out of the water in an emergency. Before Lynne stepped out onto the ramp Dr. Block traced two veins in her arm with a blue marker, it was just a precaution in case of an emergency. Though ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Thin Red Line Presents War We return to the present and we see Ryan questioning whether he was a good man and made the most of his life for the sake of those soldiers who laid their life down for his. His wife reassures Ryan that he honored their memory. The ending presents itself as a perfect ending, even though many died for Ryan he did not squander the opportunity granted to him and he upheld their memory. In the end it was a perfect Hollywood blockbuster, everything happened for a reason and it was a beautiful story filled with friendship, hardship, loss, and love. Those are the characteristics we use to romanticize war, a journey full of loss, hardships, and friendship that in the end there is peace. The Thin Red Line presents war in a different light the entire premise is the war. There are varying voices narrating throughout the movie, they speak of war as the destruction of the human soul. War is characterized as a game of chance where your life hangs on only chance. The movie begins with a voice saying, What s this war in the heart of nature? Why does nature vie with itself? it appears like a metaphor for human life and why do humans war one another. We then see a village in the pacific with natives living a simple life undisturbed then we see Witt and another soldier who appear to be living with the natives. Witt then talks about his mother dying and realizes that dying peacefully is where immortality is hidden. This presents that there is no beautify in war, as no death is ... How A Protein Is Made Up Of Amino Acids A protein is made up of amino acids there are more than one hundred amino acids which occur naturally but only twenty of them are used in the synthesis of proteins. (REFERENCE) Proteins are not organic compounds because in addition to carbon and hydrogen, they also contain a variety of compounds found in the variable region of their structure such as sulphur as well as oxygen and nitrogen found in their constant region. (REFERENCE) (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/ce/AminoAcidball.svg/2000px AminoAcidball.svg.png) An amino acid is comprised of an amino group which is the N2H portion of the compound, a single hydrogen atom bonded to the central carbon, a carboxyl group made up of a carbon atom which is double bonded to an atom of oxygen, and a hydroxyl group which is singly bound to the carbon also. Finally, also bound to the central carbon is a variable group indicated on Figure 1 with an R. This is what determines which amino acid is formed. For example, Glycine s variable region includes a single hydrogen atom whereas Serine s contains CH2 OH. The primary structure of a protein is the sequence of amino acids. This creates a polypeptide chain because each amino acid acts as a monomer so when they bind together they form a polymer. When amino acids bond together, a peptide bond is formed. This occurs when there is a condensation reaction and H2O is lost from the two amino acids and a bond forms between the carbon on one amino acid and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jim Jarmusch Use Of Gothic Style In Vampire Films At it s surface, Gothic style in vampire films has been defined by gloomy settings, violent and immoral action, as well as a mood of decadence and decay. It is truly a large genre which initially was constructed to be outside, if not entirely subversive to the mainstream popular culture. However, overuse of gothic aesthetics in film over the decades has anesthetized the intended effects, causing it to lose some of it s purpose and specificity. Gothic aesthetics have so thoroughly saturated horror film and media that it is now iconic, and therefore normalized, as an expected facet of vampire storytelling. The initial point of Gothicism was to induce fear and desire within the viewer. It was intended to portray otherness in terms of beauty, morality and humanity. Immediately, only lovers left alive is different from mainstream vampire films in that the protagonists are the vampires themselves. • 23. The Discovery Of The Corona Project Essay The Corona project was developed from the 1946 Operation Crossroads where the US government was conducting and underwater testing in the bikini islands. The US government was interested in studying the effects of an underwater nuclear explosion on a naval fleet so they took decommissioned Navy ships and set them up above the area of the explosion. To observe the test the US sent a large amount of RB 29 airplanes above the test site laden with cameras and photographic reconnaissance experts to operate them. The effects of the explosion were so devastating that the naval ships were tossed around like they were made of paper. Walter Levison like many others that observed this experiment were WWII veterans and were so appalled by the destruction of the bomb that they wanted the US government to start focusing on how to prevent war rather than creating more nuclear weapons At this time in history the threat of a third world war was foremost on everyone s mind as the cold war between the Soviet Union and the US was heating up. There was a real fear at this time that the soviet union was developing nuclear weapons for a surprise attack on Europe and the US. The actual strength and numbers of the soviet army was a secret and the US government wanted to know the size and strength of their forces. • 26. The Gap Between Science And Science Fiction Science fiction is full of machines that have feelings. In 2001: A Space Odyssey, the onboard computer turns against the crew of the spaceship Discovery 1, and utters cries of pain and fear when his circuits are finally taken apart. In Blade Runner, a humanoid robot is distressed to learn that her memories are not real, but have been implanted in her silicon brain by her programmer. In Bicentennial Man, Robin Williams plays the part of a robot who redesigns his own circuitry so that he can experience the full range of human feelings. These stories achieve their effect in part because the capacity for emotion is often considered to be one of the main differences between humans and machines. This is certainly true of the machines we know today. The responses we receive from computers are rather dry affairs, such as System error 1378 . People sometimes get angry with their computers and shout at them as if they had emotions, but the computers take no notice. They neither feel their own feelings, nor recognize yours. The gap between science fiction and science fact appears vast, but some researchers in artificial intelligence now believe it is only a question of time before it is bridged. The new field of affective computing has already made some progress in building primitive emotional machines, and every month brings new advances. However, some critics argue that a machine could never come to have real emotions like ours. At best, they claim, clever programming might allow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The article talks about how educational organizations can adjust to change and what it takes to implement change. Change is always good especially with the changes of time. Technology is way more advance in the millieum era then it was in the 1990 s so changing educational organizations should arrange with the advancement of the era. Educational organizations that are behind with advancement could possibly fail and not succeed with a lack of participants. The article also goes into detail about being able to come together and take intination in developing a plan to create change. When individuals want to implement change they have to develop not only a plan but also have resources and a committee or team. Therefore more then one idea or suggestion will make the plan worthwhile of pursuing. Individuals who would want change also have to reach out to stakeholders and politicians. Politicans are on the forefront of reaching a lot of people. With computers becoming common not only to offices but homes too, children are able to access the computer easily and more to it have given up their physical games to involve themselves with computers games. To this effect, concern have been raised in form of thesis claiming that children playing computer learning games learn faster and they retain what they have played. The above thesis is true to some extent because it is taken like experiments done in higher level education, the task will be retained in one s head. Likewise when a child plays a learning game that requires he or she to practice a certain activity for a long time that point will stick to that kind s mind the same way a student will vividly remember an experiment process carried out in the laboratory. It is also noted that computer learning games form a part of entertainment. Research carried out by institute of center for study of children, youth and media indicate that it is easier for children to remember a movie they had watched sometimes back. Likewise through computer video games they will remember the game as a video. Through this remembering of that game these children will be recalling an educational concept.
