Bipolar Reflection
Over a year ago, I was diagnosed with a mental illness called bipolar disorder. It wasn t as much
as a shock when they explained it to me, for I always had that slight suspicion that I might be
bipolar. Although the condition has always been there with me, the symptoms were more apparent
to me after that day. This condition has made it really hard for me to function in school and at
home. For a while now, I ve let it completely take me over because I didn t wantto bother fighting
something that felt stronger than me. I don t think people truly understand how this affects me.
Especially my parents, they d refuse to accept that I have bipolar disorder. Trust me, I wouldn t
want it either but it isn t something I can ignore. For years, I ve made various attempts at guiding
my parents attention to this. What finally made them realize how serious this was to me was my
art. Art has helped me through a lot ever since I started getting depressed, so I see it fit to make
my concept based on I feel. The picture will be one I ve taken for a different assignment similar

For me, manic depressive disorder isn t just black and white but a whole monochromatic scale,
ranging from the deepest oxford blue, to the purest white. I chose blue to describe the depressive
stage because of the mood it gives off. The hue blue will give off a cimmerian mood, which would
be perfect in capturing the mood when one is depressed. White would give off a sense of purity
and happiness. Although yellow might be the ideal color of happiness, I feel as if white better
displays what I feel. The middle of the picture will be neutral colors to express the lack of color I

Brave Heart Comparison Essay

Four Texts: Brave Heart by Mel Gibson, Tilbury speech by Queen Elizabeth I 1588 , The Pianist by
Roman Polanski, Dulce Et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen
Two Connections: glorified war seen in a positive light, reality of the struggle to survive in war
In the four texts we see people struggle to survive through the toughest wars, these directors show
us the reality of war while some make war seem like a fantasy and victorious.
War has been apart of history for a long time, ordinary humans fought for our existence today,
most stories told today glorify the reality of war making soldiers look like heroes and bring out
the good in evil. The reality of war is equal to manslaughter in today s society, it is the stories of
war history that are told today that makes us think of soldiers in war as heroes despite the fact that
they are committing crimes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Brave Heart similar to The Pianist and Dulce et Decorum est we do see the brutality of war
among soldiers and innocent humans, but the main idea of the film is to glorify war and inspire
people to fight for one s country even if it means risking your own life and others, the main
character in Brave Heart is William Wallace who in the film took charge of the army and
inspired the soldiers to fight for their freedom and their country and the risk of death was made
out to be victorious. There s a scene in Brave Heart where we see William Wallace eager to fight
against the English but he had to encourage his army to keep fighting as they were coming to the
point of not wanting to fight anymore, they feared for their own lives. It was their own freedom
they would risk if they were to leave, William motivates them by

The Impact Of Privacy In Nigeria
Before the British colonial invasion, Nigeria lived as autonomous commities, kingdoms and
caliphates, where political, social and economic administrations were carried out independently. At
the invasion, Nigeria became a British protectorate, part of the British Empire in 1901. However,
for administrative purposes the protectorate was divided into the Southern and Northern
Protectorates. In 1914 both protectorates were merged into a single colony known as Nigeria by
the effort of Sir Fredrick Lugard. This amalgamation was with the intent to unite the people and
culture of the Northern and Southern protectorates into a sovereign nation called Nigeria. However,
the success of this 1914 amalgamation has been called to question given the ever widening gap in...

The possibility of surveillance, whether direct or through access to records of speech, research

Libraries advocate the rights of people to unfettered access to information (Okeke, Ibegbulam,

Crew Resource Management
Prior to 1959, faulty equipment was the probable cause for many airplane accidents, but with the
advent of jet engines, faulty equipment became less of a threat, while human factors gained
prominence in accident investigations (Kanki, Helmreich Anca, 2010). From 1959 to 1989, pilot
error was the cause of 70% of accident resulting in the loss of hull worldwide (Kanki, Helmreich
Anca, 2010). Due to these alarming statistics, in 1979 the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration (NASA) implemented a workshop called Resource Management on the Flightdeck
that led to what is now known as Crew Resource Management (CRM) or also known as Cockpit
Resource Management (Rodrigues Cusick, 2012). CRM is a concept that has been attributed...

The National Transportation and Safety Board (NTSB) investigation concluded that the
probable cause of the crash was pilot error, and the pilot s failure to properly monitor the flight
instruments to detect their decent before impacting the ground (Elder Elder, 1977). Another
significant crash was United Airlines Flight 173 on December 28, 1978, nearly six years to the
day since the Flight 401 incident. Another coincidence is that Flight 173 also experienced a
landing gear issue like Flight 401. The captain of the United Airlines flight attempted to
troubleshoot the landing gear issue over the course of an hour (Noland). During this time, the
flight engineer made feeble attempts at making the captain, who has been described as arrogant,
aware of the low fuel state of the aircraft (Noland). The result was the United Airlines flight
crashed in a wooded area killing 10 people after running out of fuel. The NTSB concluded that
whether the flight engineer was unaware of the graveness of the situation or just didn t assert
himself enough to let the captain know about the fuel quantity problem, something needed to be
done in regards of flight crew s interaction and management of their resources. The NTSB made a
recommendation which led to implementing a new program set up by a NASA workshop called

Cost to join and barriers to join an online personal site are the two dimensions which are relevant
to a firms performance within this industry. eHarmony possesses the highest membership fees in
the industry along with particularly high barriers to join. Even their direct competitors; Match and
Yahoo! Personals differ from eHarmony in that they have much lower barriers to join as well as
lower sign up fees. Most of their indirect competitors are free and have little to no barriers to join.

Homework Argumentative Essay
Homework, which has long been a battleground among teachers, parents, and students, is coming
under more scrutiny than ever as the divide grows between resistors and its proponents (Luke).
Homework has been a part of every student s life since 1905 and recently has become a topic that
people can not come to an agreement on. Students, teachers, and parents continually go back and
forth everyday regarding the type of and amount of homeworkstudents receive. Although some
people might think homework is beneficial, in fact, homework should be reduced because it can

in Rahtke). Teachers and people who are pro homework would argue that this is the main reason
students are assigned homework. Homework is continuously used by schools because of the
potential benefits it can offer students. Most of the time when people talk about benefits of
homework they talk about academic benefits, however there is also nonacademic benefits. When
students are given homework students must take it upon themselves to make sure they complete it.
Through this they learn an important tool that is necessary in life, time management. Cooper
emphasizes that homework can also lead to students improving their self direction, self discipline,
and self organization. When students take it upon themselves to get their work done they improve
their independent problem solving skills, which can help them both in school settings and out in
the world. Homework helps build students characters as well as improve their academic skills.
Homework might appear to be beneficial when studies show students who do homework do better
academically, however, there is a point at which homework has a negative effect on students. The
purpose of homework is to reinforce the learning that takes place in school or prepare children for
forthcoming lessons, which in theory, sounds ideal. But, research on homework has indicated
otherwise. Apparently, too much is detrimental to children (Rajoo). The excessive homework that
kids are being assigned is not helping

Anthony Fokker In World War 1
Topic 1 Pioneers
Anthony Fokker, discuss his contributions to the development of aviation during and after World
War One.
Anthony Herman Gerard Fokker, born in the Dutch East Indies, in what is now Indonesia in 1890.
However, the Fokker family soon moved back to their native Holland, where Anthony received his
early primary and early secondary education. Presumably, it was in these early years that Fokker
became intrigued by flight.
By the time he was 20 years old, while still in Germany, Anthony designed, developed and built his
first aircraft, and then taught himself how to fly it ( Anthony Herman Gerard Fokker, n.d., para. 3).
By the outbreak of World War One in July of 1914, Fokker had set up an aircraft manufacturing
plant and a flight school. Initially, Germany purchased his M.5 fighter, a mono wing aircraft based
on a French Morane Saulnier G design utilizing steel tubing and a new airfoil and tail design. In
fact, it was this aircraft that Fokker developed perhaps his most notable invention the
Synchronization Gear. This mechanism allowed the placement of the aircrafts machine guns
behind the propeller and synchronizing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Fokker Aircraft Corporation. By and large, Fokker aircraft were among the most common used by
both American and European airlines. However, in the late nineteen twenties, due to his reluctance
to invest in new technologies and poor quality control. Consequently, Fokker was forced to sell a

ISSUE: Should LOI recognize an asset retirement obligation for each of the categories of
warehouses with asbestos?
BRIEF BACKGROUND OF COMPANY
Lack of Information (LOI) owns and operates 50 warehouses throughout the country. As part of
LOI s efforts to identify potential asset retirement obligations, LOI s internal audit group held
interviews with all 50 of the warehouse managers and also performed site visits at each of the 50
locations.
KEY CONSIDERATIONS INVOLVED IN THE ACCOUNTING QUESTIONS
1. Should LOI recognize an asset retirement obligation for the two warehouses in states with special
asbestos handling and disposal laws?
2. Should LOI recognize an asset retirement obligation for the ten warehouses that will likely be

The state laws requiring the removal of the asbestos upon significant renovation or demolition of
the warehouses and the contracts requiring removal of the asbestos at the option of the buyer do
not relate to the other than normal operation of the warehouses. As such, these requirements
represent obligations that are within the scope of Subtopic. Recognition of an asset retirement
obligation under ASC 410 20 requires an entity to be able to reasonably estimate the fair value
of the obligation. Per ASC 410 20 25 4: An entity shall recognize the fair value of a liability for
an asset retirement obligation in the period in which it is incurred if a reasonable estimate of fair
value can be made.
QUESTION 2
The state laws requiring LOI to remove the asbestos create an obligation to remove the asbestos
under ASC 410 20 15 2a for the ten warehouses that LOI will sell within five years. ASC 410 20
25 8b indicates that an asset retirement obligation is estimable if all of the following exist:
The settlement date or the range of potential settlement dates
The method of settlement or potential methods of settlement (The term potential methods of
settlement refers to methods of settling the obligation that are currently available to the entity.

I Am Passionate About Food
Exploratory Essay
A majority of individuals that inhabit this universe were not born with a talent. I, unfortunately was
no exception. I grew up stumbling through different sports teams and art classes. From playing
games of softball to attending pottery classes, nothing really stuck to me. I was beginning to doubt
I would ever find anything I was truly passionate about until recently. I have realized that I am
passionate about food. Not just eating it, but also studying it as it is processed though the body. I
was initially introduced to nutrition through my own poor eating habits. I was on the verge of
becoming obese when visited a Nutritionist. I was very overwhelmed with my diet changes at first,
but then became amazed at how much better I felt mentally and physically. I was so inspired by
this that I decided that becoming a Nutritionist would be something that I want to do for a living.
The quizzes from The College Foundation of North Carolina seemed to support my decisions as
well, making me even more confident to pursue a career doing my passion.
Even though making a decision about what I want to do for the rest of my life is an enormous deal,
I am confident that becoming a nutritionist is the goal in my educational plan. I am an extremely
indecisive individual, but the passion I encompass for living a healthy lifestyle through food is
enough to make me determined to pursue this career. As of right now I am pursuing an Associates

The World Is A Single Gigantic Sphere Of Energy
Utilizing What We Have
The world is a single gigantic sphere of energy. The Earth contains other branches of different types
of energy such as: Kinetic, potential, mechanical, heats, chemical, light, and atomic energy, solar,
hydroelectric is different types of energy sources. When using kinetic energy, you use force which
is scientifically defined as a push or pull on an object.
When work is being done it is considered kinetic energy. For example: When you do a kip on
bars, during the glide you pull your toes to the bar instead of muscling up, once you start to
come to front position, you must push down on the bar, in order to arrive at the bar in front
position. These are examples of push and pull force we use in everyday life. Whether it is
opening a door, or pushing a stroller our lives consist of force, and kinetic energy.
Potential energy is stored energy. When you are standing still you are exercising potential energy,
because no work is being done. If someone was to bump into you, and you would move it would
be considered kinetic energy. However, if you take a picture of person NO.1 standing still, and
person NO.2 moving toward them, the picture would contain both potential energy, and kinetic
energy.
Heat energy is primarily observed with friction. All friction contains heat. For example: when a
tailpipe on a car comes unlatched. If you do not know it is loose, over time it becomes looser.
Eventually it could start dragging on the ground while the vehicle is in

The Black Of Black Arts Movement Essay
The Black Arts Movement was considered to be the artistic part of the Black Power Movement
when it was formed in the 1960s and lasted until mid 1970s. It featured several Black writers,
poets, playwrights, artists, and musicians, who sought to explore the essence of black identity ,
commonly referred to as the Black Aesthetic. The Black aesthetic was both a cultural and artistic
ideology that was developed from many Black Americans who desired self determination and
separation from the white community. Several of the artists who contributed to the Black Arts
Movement included, but is not limited to, Leroi Jones, also known as Amiri Baraka, Larry Neal,
Nikki Giovanni, and Sonia Sanchez. They sought to create art that spoke directly to the issues,
needs, aspirations and sociopolitical rights of Black Americans. Overall, this movement is one of
the most influential movements in regards to Black literature and music because it inspired Black
peopleto write and led to the creation of theaters, journals, magazines, and art institutions. The
Black Arts Movement was also said to be the spiritual sister of the Black PowerMovement, but
although the movement claimed to be the sister of the Black Power Movement, it was sexist,
racially exclusive and was in no way feminine of supportive of its Black women.

Differences Of The Sioux And Chippewa Indian Tribes
The Sioux and Chippewa Indian tribes have a drastically different way of living compared to
what other people are accustomed to in terms of their history, food , and their roles in their tribes.
The Sioux Indians were originally from Asia, but migrated to America about 30,000 years ago.
Their long, straight jet black hair resembles that of the Asian descendants. The Sioux tribes were
located in The Great Plains, which consists of 7 different states Minnesota, Wisconsin, North and
South Dakota; however, they were also known to live in parts of Nebraska, Illinois, and Montana.
The name Sioux is an abbreviation of Nadouessioux. (Britannica) The name was given to them by

Fortitude also came in his childhood when a wolf bit his friend and nearly died from rabies (Berche,

Louis Pasteur Education Louis received his bachelor s degree in letters in August of 1840.
Louis received his doctoral degree in 1847 with a thesis on crystallography. Pasteur studied how
certain crystals affect light and at the age of 26, he started working on his doctoral thesis on
crystallography, the study of forms and structures of crystals. Louis began working with two
acids commonly found in the sediments of fermenting wine. Tartaric acid and paratartaric acid
were found a few years earlier to have the same chemical composition, but there was something
about these two acids that were different and Louis sought to find the answer. He found that in
solution the two rotated polarized light differently, while tartaric acid rotated polarized light to the
right, paratartaric acid did not rotate the light at all. He then began to study the crystals of each
acid under his microscope and noticed that some of the crystals in paratartaric acid were slightly
different from that of tartaric acid. Using a dissecting needle and his microscope, he separated the
different crystals into two piles, and upon viewing each crystal in the microscope, he noticed that
the crystals appeared to be mirror images of themselves (Berche, 2012).

Internal And External Locus Of Control
In the context of locus of control, internal and external locus of control are two characteristics that
influence students success and failure. Those characteristics have been explained by some experts
and there are some comparisons which have been done related to the aspects of internal and
external locus of control. Obviously, there is no specific hypothesis related to aspects of locus of
control, but Burger (1983:76) categorizes three factors as the aspects of locus of control:
perception of internal control, perception of controlled by powerful others, and perception of
chance. However, Gihonsooly and Sihirvan (2011:240) have summarized some researches about
locus of control related on individuals behavior in some aspects such as anxiety, academic
procrastination and so on in table 5 below:
Those comparisons above represent the three aspects of locus of control; perception of internal
control, perception of LOC that is controlled by powerful others, and perception of chance, which
can be differentiated into 5 sub aspects such as ability, responsibility, change, environment and

Role Of Servants In Volpone
The portrayal of servants in Shakespeare s and Jonson s plays is contrasting. In Jonson s city
comedies servants are depicted as unethical, manipulating their masters greed and egocentrism in
order to fulfill their own plans and goals. On the other hand, in Shakespeare s pastoral comedies
servants are portrayed as loyal, devoted, reliable and helpful to their masters.
To be more specific, in Jonson s city comedy Volpone the city is portrayed as a dog eat dog,
antagonistic competitive world which is profit orientated, where everything is commodified. In
other words, it is a society that is governed only by greed and profit. Therefore, almost all of his
characters are greedy for power, money, food, alcohol or sex. Jonson satirizes that... Show more

Jonson s connection to Aesop s Fables is obvious, as all the character names in Volpone recall
animals, insects or birds. For example Volpone means fox in Italian, Mosca means Fly etc. In
that sense, Volpone draws from a tradition of Aesopian beast fables. Jonson wants to create an
allegory of greed and also emphasizes that social and religious principles yield to greed and avarice;
human beings are reduced to the level of beasts and lose their elevated status.
Therefore, Volpone is a magnifico, a noble man of the Venetian Republic, clever but totally selfish
and lustful whose only purpose in life is to accumulate gold. He is so materialistic that not only has
he replaced God with gold, but he also worships his gold as his God. He always tries to deceive and
take advantage of other people, usually naive characters. His servant Mosca (which is an Italian
word used to describe a kind of fly that is fed on dead meat) is a parasite. A parasite does not hunt,
does not work in order to survive. Similarly, Mosca is a human being who is lazy, who does not
struggle in order to acquire a livelihood. Mosca is also very clever and canny. He is absolutely

The duration of the Hunger Games kept me on the edge of my seat, hanging off of every single
word. Katniss Everdeen kept her strong yet cold demeanor throughout the novel, which leads me
to believe this played a role earning her success in the arena. The entirety of the book was a
smooth flowing plot with hailstorms of suspense. Suzanna Collins added the perfect amount of
obstacles and trust, leading the novel to become a bestseller. Admitting, Peeta Mellark helped
Katniss pull of an oblivious cute ditzy look which overall led to her victory and ensured her
lifeline in the end. The falling action was absolutely heartstopping as our two lovestruck characters
were going to end it all by consuming a toxic berry known in the book as nightlock. One could
practically hear the reader s heart stop as the gamemaster Claude put an immediate halt to the
action, ultimately saving both Peeta and Katniss s lives. The trickery Claude portrayed to the duo
seemed sickening, though the pair made it out tremendously due to Katniss s deadly nightlock
scheme. District twelve was their next destination after many live broadcasted television interviews
after their gruesome time in the games. Even their journey home consisted of heartbreak and
expectancy. In the exposition the audience seeks more into the tragic loss of Katniss s father, which
has struck her cold. The cruel history behind what is known was the Hunger Games is thoroughly
explained, and the reader sees the usual morning routine that

The Mauna Loa Volcano Essay
The Mauna Loa Volcano
The Mauna Loa volcano is located in Hawaii and means Long Mountain in Hawaiian. It is a giant,
basaltic shield volcano. It is one of the largest volcanoes and mountains in the world and has been
called the monarch of mountains . It has an estimated volume of 9,600 cubic miles and takes up
half the land of Hawaii. It extends about 120 km starting from the southern tip of the island to the
northern region. It is 97 km (60 miles) long, 48 km (30 miles) wide, and is 8,742 km (28,680 miles)
high from the base on the sea floor to the top. The slopes are steeper than 12 degrees and about 4

They can last from a couple days or as long as ten months and may be followed by flank
eruptions. The lava flows from Mauna Loa are frequent and high volume. The long lengths of
these flows and the fluidity results in the high velocities of the lava flow on steep slopes. This
makes Mauna Loa much more potentially dangerous than other volcanoes. Below is a picture of
the 1984 eruption in the northeast rift zone. Construction of new homes near any active volcano
is dangerous and is a major risk to those living there. The lava from the volcano can flow rapidly
down the slope and destroy anything in its path; this includes any housing or buildings. With that
said, $2.3 billion dollars since 1984 have been invested in building new homes on the slopes of
Mauna Loa. There are about 75,000 people living near Mauna Loa, but the tourist industry has
prompt the major investments in construction of housing and other tourist attractions. The major
city of Hilo has been an example of the potential risk that living near a volcano can produce pose.
During an eruption in 1984 lava flowed within 4 miles of the city. Precautions have been made to
reduce these risks. Ultra sensitive strainmeters and seismometers have been placed in three sites on
Mauna Loa. This helps geologists in detecting any volcanic activities early and help in predicting
any future eruptions. This allows the people living near Mauna Loa to have warnings regarding any

Analysis Of Queer
In the past decades, the word queer traversed many definitions, from a pejorative for gay to a self
affirming umbrella term. While the word queer is primarily associated with non normative
tendencies (Love 172), the word uncanny...applies to everything that was intended to remain secret,
hidden away, and has come into the open (Freud 132). Upon closer inspection of the words, queer
and uncanny, and Andrew Davenport s popular children s television show Teletubbies
, we see that
the Teletubbies are the exemplary, digital manifestations of queer, uncanny doppelgängers (Cole).
It is 2000. Sunday morning. I am 3. I wake up, pop out of bed, and sprint down the steps. Mom is
in the kitchen cooking a hot, delicious breakfast. I glide past her and turn on the TV. Patiently
waiting, I clutch my favorite toy: my Po doll. As I squeeze her, her stomach screen lights up.
The TV lights up too. I lift my head and see the familiar landscape of Teletubbyland, its rolling
hills and warm feelings. Mom walks over to me and sets down a plate of hot sausages, eggs, and
bacon. But I cannot see her. I only see bright, warm colors. I only see Po, emerging from the
Superdome. I only see Po s welcoming eyes.
To say the least Teletubbies is an incredibly entertaining television show. In each thirty minute
episode, four baby faced, asexual aliens, Po, Laa Laa, Dipsy, and Tinky Winky, wake up to the
smiling face of a baby on the sun, come out from their Tubbytronic Superdome, and eat pink

Human History Literacy Rates Have Continued Essay
Human history literacy rates have continued to hike. Children now attend school than at any other
point in history. Although nations have made immense progress, many are still far from reaching
the universal goals of education. The importance of early education cannot be emphasized enough.
As famous scholars had noted in human history, educationis the precondition for success and
unconstrained prospects. Educated citizens are the foundation for a nation s sustainable economic
and social development (Park 23). According to a study done by UNESCO and World Bank,
currently there are over 400 million children at the elementary level who are not attending school.
Even the rest of the millions who are attending schools are not being prepared adequately for life
after school. Solving these problems ought to be the utmost goal for any nation. As a parent, one
cannot fail to see how important education is for a child. As a politician, one recognizes the
importance of having a government with highly equipped labor force. Transforming education,
however is not an easy task bearing in mind that there are challenges everywhere from the shortage
of teachers, resources and use of inadequate curricula. It is therefore imperative that nations rise and
act consequently before they expose another generation to the same problems (Awa Plaumann 101).
This paper shall carefully examine early childhoodeducation and the effectiveness of the universal
interventions made globally.

Powerful Images In Elie Wiesel s Night
Impactful Images About two thirds of Jewish people living in Europe at the time of World War II
were killed by Nazis. Elie Wiesel s novel, Night, is about a teenage boy who was taken with his
family to Auschwitz and through many of the other concentration camps. Night walks you through
all the horrible and tragic events that Elie and all the other people had to endure. In Night, Elie
Wieseluses several powerful, sad, and horrifying images to demonstrate some of the horrors that
occurred during the holocaust. One image that demonstrates the horrific things that went on during
the holocaust was when Elie and his father were being moved to the barracks. They were being
forced to walk by the pits that were filled with fire in which babies and little toddlers were being
thrown into. Never shall I forget the small faces of the children whose bodies I saw transformed
into smoke under a silent sky. Never shall I forget those flames that consumed my faith forever

The Financial Analysis Of Terms On The Tunisian Stock...
Table 2 of the descriptive statistics shows a summary of the variables that were taken from the
financial statements and the annual reports of sampled firms on the Tunisian Stock Exchange.
Based on the table mean percentage of dividend policy was 0.630 which represents almost 63%.
This results in the fact that all the selected firm under consideration for the period of ten year
(2006 2015) had been a 42% decision to pay dividend to shareholder. The profitability variable,
Return on Equity (ROE) showed an average of 4 %. This percentage measured the involvement of

The results of the regression did not show a significant relationship between the dividend policy
and ownership duality. So, we cannot establish a relationship between dividend policy and
ownership duality; hypothesis H2, in this case, is not validated. Concerning foreign ownership,
the results indicate a positive and significant relationship between the level of the presence of
foreign shareholders and the level of dividend distribution. The relationship between the two
variables is significant at the 5% level. In other words, the more the level of foreign ownership
increases, the more the level of distribution of dividends increases. Consequently, Hypothesis H3 is
supported. This result is consistent with Cook and Jeon [19] that also found a positive relationship.
This concludes that foreign investors worried about their investments seek to reduce the agency
costs by reclaiming a high level of dividends. Finally, the Fischer test indicates significant results.
In addition, the R2 of 44% shows the power of the model.
1.Conclusion and discussion
The objective of this study is to investigate the existence of relationships between the structure of
ownership and dividend policy in an emerging market. To reach this end, we studied a sample of
non financial companies listed on the Tunisia stock exchange between 2006 and 2015. We used a

Stereotypes In A Separation
The complex drama, A Separation, is an Iranian film which won the 2011 Academy Award for
Best Foreign Language film. The movie tells the tale of a couple who are at odds with each other,
trying to do what is best for their daughter. It shares a connection with the film Wadjda, in that the
characters have to deal with issues surrounding gender and class in a heavily religious society. The
filmis another example of how world cinema helps to shatter preconceived notions, and

Cinema allows you to learn about other cultures and religions than your own. Cinema can also
open people s eyes to what is really going on in the world. For example in this Arab world, many
women are subservient to men. The reason being is that this is just the cultural norm. In the
film, Razieh fears disobeyed her husband. However she takes a job without his knowledge. She
must do so in order to provide for her family. In this way, Razieh is going against cultural norms.
In most societies, including those of the Middle East, the man is always the provider. It is seen
as disrespectful for a man to have to rely on a woman to provide. A man s word is also law.
Going against it can be dangerous. The movie Wadjda, played with these themes. In the film,
Wadjda is an Arab girl who is rebelling against the cultural norms. She wants to be able to ride a
bike, wear sneakers, and do everything else her male counterparts get to do. She is punished and
looked down upon for this behavior. For Razieh, it is not so easy to break from her religious and
cultural norms. However in the end of the film, when faced with a dilemma, she follows her heart
instead of her husband, and makes a decision that is morally right to her. Showing women like this
can have a powerful impact. Whether it be the strength Razieh has to provide for her family, or the
courage Wadjda has to want to be different, these women are

The Early Years Of The American Civil War
The study of the early years of the America republic has not received the same attention from
historians, as have many other periods of American history. In fact, only slavery and sectionalism,
the leading causes of the American Civil War, have been consistently covered in much of the
historical study of the first half of the nineteenth century. This became quite obvious with the
readings that I spent time with this semester. Many were somewhat long in the tooth, yet still
remained standard bearers for their topic, as further study has been sporadic or nearly nonexistent.
This seems especially true of the studies that attempt to bring together the various elements in a
manner that creates a big picture of the time period. Regional or social histories have dominated
this period in the last twenty years and perhaps it is time for a new attempt at integrating the
various pieces of the puzzle into a coherent picture. This is not to dismiss the people and groups that
make the story, but to put their story back into a greater context. The numerous books I read, when
pieced together, accomplish this to some degree, but this manner is incomplete, as it does not, nor
were the majority of the authors intending too, create a complete picture of what America was like
in the early nineteenth century. The first historian to attempt an overarching theme of the west was
Frederick Jackson Turnerin his Significance of the Frontierin American History. For years, Turner s

Descriptive Essay On A Day In The Night
In the dark and crowded streets I watch as tourists and Dubliners alike pack into the already full
pubs to escape the frigid temperature that continues to drop as it welcomes in the New Year.
Illuminated by the streetlamps, the first flurries of snow make their way to the pavement,
sticking to the ground as burrs to rabbit fur and encouraging me to make my way to a protruded
doorway across from Temple Bar at a place called Black Church Print Studio for a bit of
protection; after laying down my cardboard, I sit, waiting for the wind to disappear and the
stumbling drunkards along with it. Still, I can t help but hope that one of the more sober
attendees of Temple Bar will offer me shelter for the night a place of warmth. For now, though,
the people rush past me, some fearful that if they acknowledge my existence that they, too, will
catch the disease that is homelessness; others cannot even make out my figure from behind the
fog that ascends and reappears with each chilled exhale. The closest that I have come to
celebrating with another is when a towering, drunk man staggers to the corner opposite of mine.
Supposedly it is a sign of good luck if a tall man is the first to arrive at your house (even one as
temporary as mine) on this night; but this one unzips his trousers and pisses on the walls of my
space. His friends, because it is always a man and he always has friends, chant and record his

From Grandeur to Arrogance Walt Whitman s poem, To a Locomotive in Winter and Emily
Dickinson s I Like to See It Lap The Miles are two different poems about the same subject, the
steam engine. Where Whitman uses solely free verse, Dickinson s poem more closely follows
standard writing practices, with very structured line breaks. Another key difference in these works
is the speech they use; Whitman uses old English laden with thee and thy, whereas Dickinson uses
fairly modern terminology. Whitman describes the elegant and powerful grandeur of the

environmental history, then, has been to reintroduce the environment as a casual force while
avoiding the determinisms of the past. In short, Sutter is presenting perhaps the biggest problem
within environmental history which is environmental determinism. Environmental determinism
meaning the idea that this environment is predisposed to act a certain way regardless and there

In the novel Fifth Business, women played an important role that impacted Dunstan emotionally
and spiritually. From a young age, Dunstan s mother, Mrs. Ramsay, placed fear and isolation in his
heart and was the reason he became emotionally distanced from women. He turned towards Mrs.
Dempster as she provided him the loveand affection that he wasn t able to receive from his mother.
She also sparked his interest in hagiography and to pursue his study in inner spirituality. As he
comes of age and meets Diana, she was able to introduce him to a new world while teaching him
new experiences. However, their relationship was short lived due to the treatment and mental

as lowered the death rate. In 1905 alone, eighteen people died. [] In more recent times, the
murder suicide of Jovan Belcher in 2012 stirred up a deal of concern. It brought attention to the
elevated number of suicides in retired football players, as well as domestic violence. There is a

Precision And Accuracy Lab Report
Determining the Density of a Polystyrene Sphere with Precision and Accuracy
Abstract: The objective of the lab is to determine the volumes of the polystyrene spheres with three
different measuring tools: Water Displacement, Analytical Scale, and Triple Beam Balance Scale.
The experiment is meant to help understand the concept and application of precision and accuracy
in experimental measurements. Accuracy is a measure of how closely the results of repeated
measurements are to the true value of what is being measured. Precision is the variability in the
results from the repeated measurements, and how close the repeated measurements were to one
another. In this lab, the method for measuring the volume of the polystyrene spheres is done with
the previously stated tools: Water Displacement, Analytical Scale, and Triple Beam Balance Scale.
The standard deviation for the entire classes volumes and masses are recorded to determine the
densities.
Introduction: Accuracy and precision were the major aspects of the lab. Accuracy is how close the
average of the measured values are to the actual value. Precision is the closeness of repeated
measurements. In the lab, the aim was to get as close as possible with both accuracy and precision
when determining the mass and volume of the spheres. The mass was determined by weighing the
spheres on the Analytical Scale and Triple Beam Balance Scale. The volume is determined by
measuring with a ruler and by water displacement. The standard

Clark Terry Research Paper
Clark Terry was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 14th, 1920; he was the seventh out of
eleven children. He was a classic freelance musician, his career spans more than 70 years. During
this time he created a name for himself that will forever cement him along with the legends like
Duke Ellington and Miles Davis. Mr. Clark was a man of many talents and during his time on this
earth he was became a world class trumpeter, flugelhornist, educator, composer, writer, trumpet
/flugelhorn designer, teacher and even an NEA JazzMaster; He made flugelhorn what it is today he
is responsible for its popularity. Another thing that Clark Terry is noted for is his association with
relationship with Duke Ellington s orchestra and Count Basie; he is... Show more content on

In 96 he was inducted into the St. Louis Walk of Fame and he also has a life sized wax figure for
the Black World History Museum in St. Louis. During his lifetime Terry earned over 250
awards. Clark Terry was a man who worked for everything he had and everything he earned one
of the most important thing he has was the respect of his peers who saw him as an inventive
improviser with a graceful and ebullient style, traces of which can be heard in the playing of
Miles Davis, Wynton Marsalis and others (KEEPNEWS). Anyone listening to him now would
know him as the man who had a very unique way of warming up for practice. The vocal numbers
where peppered his performances with a unique brand of scat singing the noises as well as
nonsense syllables took the place of words. It was an off the cuff recording of one such song,
released in 1964 under the name Mumbles, that became his signature song which is why I believe
his death was felt more by the many Jazz artists than that of the general public. I also believe it
wasn t as big of a deal because many do not give Jazz the respect it deserves due to the era of
smooth/soft Jazz taking over. Clark Terry as I have said earlier created a legacy for himself that any
musician would be happy to have as a teacher

By filling the database with test data, we can begin to determine if the tables are normalized
correctly, need changes to the keys and foreign keys, or new bridge tables are needed to correctly
output the data. It is also at this point that we test to ensure that data types match and all entities are
of the proper format. Although Change Request No. 3 seems fairly simple, it will bring to light any
issues that might have been encountered while interpreting the tables from the ERD Diagram. It is
not uncommon for changes to be needed to the database after it has been created from the ERD.
Moreover, now is the best time to catch these issues before the system is fully functioning making it
much more difficult to make certain changes. Creating ERDs According to Kroenke and Auer
(2010) there is an ERD standard, albeit very loosely practiced. The diagrams use combinations of
rectangles and diamonds. Entity classes are shown using rectangles, relationships are shown using
diamonds, the maximum cardinality of the relationship is shown inside the diamond, and the
minimum cardinality is shown by the oval or hash mark next to the entity. The name of the entity is
shown inside the rectangle and the name of the relationship is shown near the diamond. As said in
the earlier section, Process of Using Entities and Attributes, the process for using the entities and

  • 2. Bipolar Reflection Over a year ago, I was diagnosed with a mental illness called bipolar disorder. It wasn t as much as a shock when they explained it to me, for I always had that slight suspicion that I might be bipolar. Although the condition has always been there with me, the symptoms were more apparent to me after that day. This condition has made it really hard for me to function in school and at home. For a while now, I ve let it completely take me over because I didn t wantto bother fighting something that felt stronger than me. I don t think people truly understand how this affects me. Especially my parents, they d refuse to accept that I have bipolar disorder. Trust me, I wouldn t want it either but it isn t something I can ignore. For years, I ve made various attempts at guiding my parents attention to this. What finally made them realize how serious this was to me was my art. Art has helped me through a lot ever since I started getting depressed, so I see it fit to make my concept based on I feel. At the invasion, Nigeria became a British protectorate, part of the British Empire in 1901. However, for administrative purposes the protectorate was divided into the Southern and Northern Protectorates. In 1914 both protectorates were merged into a single colony known as Nigeria by the effort of Sir Fredrick Lugard. Crew Resource Management Prior to 1959, faulty equipment was the probable cause for many airplane accidents, but with the advent of jet engines, faulty equipment became less of a threat, while human factors gained prominence in accident investigations (Kanki, Helmreich Anca, 2010). From 1959 to 1989, pilot error was the cause of 70% of accident resulting in the loss of hull worldwide (Kanki, Helmreich Anca, 2010). Most of the time when people talk about benefits of homework they talk about academic benefits, however there is also nonacademic benefits. When students are given homework students must take it upon themselves to make sure they complete it. Through this they learn an important tool that is necessary in life, time management. Cooper emphasizes that homework can also lead to students improving their self direction, self discipline, and self organization. When students take it upon themselves to get their work done they improve their independent problem solving skills, which can help them both in school settings and out in the world. Homework helps build students characters as well as improve their academic skills. Homework might appear to be beneficial when studies show students who do homework do better academically, however, there is a point at which homework has a negative effect on students. The purpose of homework is to reinforce the learning that takes place in school or prepare children for forthcoming lessons, which in theory, sounds ideal. But, research on homework has indicated otherwise. Apparently, too much is detrimental to children (Rajoo). The excessive homework that kids are being assigned is not helping ... However, the Fokker family soon moved back to their native Holland, where Anthony received his early primary and early secondary education. Presumably, it was in these early years that Fokker became intrigued by flight. By the time he was 20 years old, while still in Germany, Anthony designed, developed and built his first aircraft, and then taught himself how to fly it ( Anthony Herman Gerard Fokker, n.d., para. 3). By the outbreak of World War One in July of 1914, Fokker had set up an aircraft manufacturing plant and a flight school. Initially, Germany purchased his M.5 fighter, a mono wing aircraft based on a French Morane Saulnier G design utilizing steel tubing and a new airfoil and tail design. In fact, it was this aircraft that Fokker developed perhaps his most notable invention the Synchronization Gear. I grew up stumbling through different sports teams and art classes. From playing games of softball to attending pottery classes, nothing really stuck to me. I was beginning to doubt I would ever find anything I was truly passionate about until recently. I have realized that I am passionate about food. Not just eating it, but also studying it as it is processed though the body. I was initially introduced to nutrition through my own poor eating habits. I was on the verge of becoming obese when visited a Nutritionist. I was very overwhelmed with my diet changes at first, but then became amazed at how much better I felt mentally and physically. I was so inspired by this that I decided that becoming a Nutritionist would be something that I want to do for a living. The quizzes from The College Foundation of North Carolina seemed to support my decisions as well, making me even more confident to pursue a career doing my passion. Even though making a decision about what I want to do for the rest of my life is an enormous deal, I am confident that becoming a nutritionist is the goal in my educational plan. The Earth contains other branches of different types of energy such as: Kinetic, potential, mechanical, heats, chemical, light, and atomic energy, solar, hydroelectric is different types of energy sources. When using kinetic energy, you use force which is scientifically defined as a push or pull on an object. When work is being done it is considered kinetic energy. For example: When you do a kip on bars, during the glide you pull your toes to the bar instead of muscling up, once you start to come to front position, you must push down on the bar, in order to arrive at the bar in front position. These are examples of push and pull force we use in everyday life. Whether it is opening a door, or pushing a stroller our lives consist of force, and kinetic energy. Potential energy is stored energy. When you are standing still you are exercising potential energy, because no work is being done. If someone was to bump into you, and you would move it would be considered kinetic energy. However, if you take a picture of person NO.1 standing still, and person NO.2 moving toward them, the picture would contain both potential energy, and kinetic energy. Heat energy is primarily observed with friction. All friction contains heat. For example: when a tailpipe on a car comes unlatched. If you do not know it is loose, over time it becomes looser. Louis began working with two acids commonly found in the sediments of fermenting wine. Tartaric acid and paratartaric acid were found a few years earlier to have the same chemical composition, but there was something about these two acids that were different and Louis sought to find the answer. He found that in solution the two rotated polarized light differently, while tartaric acid rotated polarized light to the right, paratartaric acid did not rotate the light at all. He then began to study the crystals of each acid under his microscope and noticed that some of the crystals in paratartaric acid were slightly different from that of tartaric acid. Using a dissecting needle and his microscope, he separated the different crystals into two piles, and upon viewing each crystal in the microscope, he noticed that the crystals appeared to be mirror images of themselves (Berche, 2012). In Jonson s city comedies servants are depicted as unethical, manipulating their masters greed and egocentrism in order to fulfill their own plans and goals. To be more specific, in Jonson s city comedy Volpone the city is portrayed as a dog eat dog, antagonistic competitive world which is profit orientated, where everything is commodified. Although nations have made immense progress, many are still far from reaching the universal goals of education. The importance of early education cannot be emphasized enough. As famous scholars had noted in human history, educationis the precondition for success and unconstrained prospects. Educated citizens are the foundation for a nation s sustainable economic and social development (Park 23). According to a study done by UNESCO and World Bank, currently there are over 400 million children at the elementary level who are not attending school. Even the rest of the millions who are attending schools are not being prepared adequately for life after school. Solving these problems ought to be the utmost goal for any nation. As a parent, one cannot fail to see how important education is for a child. As a politician, one recognizes the importance of having a government with highly equipped labor force. Transforming education, however is not an easy task bearing in mind that there are challenges everywhere from the shortage of teachers, resources and use of inadequate curricula. It is therefore imperative that nations rise and act consequently before they expose another generation to the same problems (Awa Plaumann 101). The movie tells the tale of a couple who are at odds with each other, trying to do what is best for their daughter. It shares a connection with the film Wadjda, in that the characters have to deal with issues surrounding gender and class in a heavily religious society. For Razieh, it is not so easy to break from her religious and cultural norms. However in the end of the film, when faced with a dilemma, she follows her heart instead of her husband, and makes a decision that is morally right to her. • 35. The Early Years Of The American Civil War The study of the early years of the America republic has not received the same attention from historians, as have many other periods of American history. In fact, only slavery and sectionalism, the leading causes of the American Civil War, have been consistently covered in much of the historical study of the first half of the nineteenth century. This became quite obvious with the readings that I spent time with this semester. Many were somewhat long in the tooth, yet still remained standard bearers for their topic, as further study has been sporadic or nearly nonexistent. This seems especially true of the studies that attempt to bring together the various elements in a manner that creates a big picture of the time period. Regional or social histories have dominated this period in the last twenty years and perhaps it is time for a new attempt at integrating the various pieces of the puzzle into a coherent picture. This is not to dismiss the people and groups that make the story, but to put their story back into a greater context. The numerous books I read, when pieced together, accomplish this to some degree, but this manner is incomplete, as it does not, nor were the majority of the authors intending too, create a complete picture of what America was like in the early nineteenth century. The first historian to attempt an overarching theme of the west was Frederick Jackson Turnerin his Significance of the Frontierin American History. For years, Turner s vision was ... Descriptive Essay On A Day In The Night In the dark and crowded streets I watch as tourists and Dubliners alike pack into the already full pubs to escape the frigid temperature that continues to drop as it welcomes in the New Year. Illuminated by the streetlamps, the first flurries of snow make their way to the pavement, sticking to the ground as burrs to rabbit fur and encouraging me to make my way to a protruded doorway across from Temple Bar at a place called Black Church Print Studio for a bit of protection; after laying down my cardboard, I sit, waiting for the wind to disappear and the stumbling drunkards along with it. Still, I can t help but hope that one of the more sober attendees of Temple Bar will offer me shelter for the night a place of warmth. For now, though, the people rush past me, some fearful that if they acknowledge my existence that they, too, will catch the disease that is homelessness; others cannot even make out my figure from behind the fog that ascends and reappears with each chilled exhale. The closest that I have come to celebrating with another is when a towering, drunk man staggers to the corner opposite of mine. Supposedly it is a sign of good luck if a tall man is the first to arrive at your house (even one as temporary as mine) on this night; but this one unzips his trousers and pisses on the walls of my space. From Grandeur to Arrogance Walt Whitman s poem, To a Locomotive in Winter and Emily Dickinson s I Like to See It Lap The Miles are two different poems about the same subject, the steam engine. Where Whitman uses solely free verse, Dickinson s poem more closely follows standard writing practices, with very structured line breaks. Another key difference in these works is the speech they use; Whitman uses old English laden with thee and thy, whereas Dickinson uses fairly modern terminology. Whitman describes the elegant and powerful grandeur of the locomotive from the shining brass and steel to the twinkling of the wheels. Sutter s Let Us Now Praise Famous Gullies Sutter also wrote in his book, Let Us Now Praise Famous Gullies, that the burden of southern environmental history, then, has been to reintroduce the environment as a casual force while avoiding the determinisms of the past. In short, Sutter is presenting perhaps the biggest problem within environmental history which is environmental determinism. Environmental determinism meaning the idea that this environment is predisposed to act a certain way regardless and there was no way to avoid it. Sutter avoids this way of thinking in his own book, by explaining that Providence Canyon may not have been created if it were not for human interaction with the soil. Even so, humans are not the only player involved in the canyons creation, one must also account for the poor soil in Georgia to get the full history of how the gully was created. Precision And Accuracy Lab Report Determining the Density of a Polystyrene Sphere with Precision and Accuracy Abstract: The objective of the lab is to determine the volumes of the polystyrene spheres with three different measuring tools: Water Displacement, Analytical Scale, and Triple Beam Balance Scale. The experiment is meant to help understand the concept and application of precision and accuracy in experimental measurements. Accuracy is a measure of how closely the results of repeated measurements are to the true value of what is being measured. Precision is the variability in the results from the repeated measurements, and how close the repeated measurements were to one another. In this lab, the method for measuring the volume of the polystyrene spheres is done with the previously stated tools: Water Displacement, Analytical Scale, and Triple Beam Balance Scale. The standard deviation for the entire classes volumes and masses are recorded to determine the densities. Introduction: Accuracy and precision were the major aspects of the lab. Accuracy is how close the average of the measured values are to the actual value. Precision is the closeness of repeated measurements. In the lab, the aim was to get as close as possible with both accuracy and precision when determining the mass and volume of the spheres. The mass was determined by weighing the spheres on the Analytical Scale and Triple Beam Balance Scale. The volume is determined by measuring with a ruler and by water displacement. The standard ...
