Comparison of Oedipus the King and Death of a Salesman Essay
The elements of a play are setting, irony, plot, characters, and theme, which will be discussed in the
essay.
Oedipus the King opens in a Greek amphitheatre depicting the front of a Theban palace. Throughout
the play, the setting remains constant. This changes to a more fast paced play with different settings in
different places in Death of a Salesman.
Dramatic irony in Oedipus the King is evident throughout, which is similar to the latter play, but in a
different form. In here, the irony is evident. Oedipus the King revolves around characters attempts to
change their destiny (which fails) Jocasta and Laius s killing of Oedipus and Oedipus s flight from
Corinth. Each time somebody tries to avert the future, the audience knows ... Show more content on

Willy Loman is a troubled and misguided man a salesman and a dreamer with an extreme
preoccupation with his own definition of success. Willy feels that physical impact is greater than the
elements of his self defined success. However, it is apparent that Willy Loman is no successful man,
even by the audience s standards. He is still a travelling salesman in his sixties with no stable location
or occupation, but clings on to his dreams and ideals. He compares his sons with Bernard, using him
as a gauge of success. Nonetheless, he stays in the belief that his sons are better than Bernard. Willy
recollects the neighbourhood years ago, and reminisces working for Frank Wagner, although he was
also in the same condition then as now. He feels that the older Wagner appreciated him more, yet it
was himself who voted Howard in. Arthur Miller presents Willy as a man with great bravado but little
energy left to support it. He is always tired and has dementia, contradicting himself in his
conversations and showing some memory loss, living in his world of illusions and delusions. He
argues with Biff, both men without knowing why. The two sons of Willy display the physical
appearance of adulthood, but their talk and attitude displays immaturity. Billy finds that he is a failure
because of his lack of `success , while Happy thinks he is unfulfilled because he lacks failure.
The plot of Oedipus the King is straightforward, which

Stagecoach Film Essay
In the film Stagecoach (John Ford, 1939) the Western characteristics of this film are that the cowboys
in the film are resourceful and restricted to no one. They are fully competent of roaming the frontier
on their own without having to rely on the securities of civilization. Yet they also have a code of
honor; although they are ruggedly independent, the cowboys respect the rules of society and is
unwilling to exploit others or to condone the careless disregard for human life exhibited by outlaws or
stereotypically Indians.
Though the passengers begin the film as simple types, their confinement in the small stagecoach
allows layers to be peeled back, revealing more characters. Social prejudice is displayed by more
proper society types like Lucy and the banker against the hard drinking doctor and the woman of a bad
reputation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film Australia starts like a cheesy slapstick comedy, turns into a romantic daydream, then into an
outback adventure, then into a war movie, and then a genuine drama. This film is all over the place
and really is just too much. This film does however use the Western characteristic and landscape in
that it represents stories of older times. It is a fictional historical costume drama set before and during
World War II. The reason I say that it is a fictional historical film is that it has silly facts about the
Japanese being near Australian soil during World War II when that was actually not the case. There are
the typical horse scenes and Lady Sarah Ashley is the damsel in distress trying to herd her cattle with
the help from her husband s drover. I feel like this film is just a mockery of the Western genre and it
should not be categorized as one. The film only uses cattle ranching as an excuse to steal iconography
from Hollywood Westerns, specifically a 1930s John Ford cowboy motion picture

Power In Hesiod s Theogony
In Hesiod s Theogony, the Greek family relationships were often a repeated cycle between the
husband, wife and their children. Based on the generations including Ouranos, all the men that came
to rule automatically loathed their child, because they believed their children would take away their
power. Since this behavior was similarly recurring every generation, the women were often forced to
create wicked plans involving their children s rise to power. The cycle of power, deceit and
achievement created by the families in the first generation of Greek mythology became dominant
characteristics that future generations would inherit.
The need for power started with the first generation of gods, Ouranos and Gaia. After Ouranos and
Gaia had children, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Motif And Motifs In Macbeth
Sight of Darkness: Analyzing Murder Motifs in Macbeth
Throughout Shakespeare s Macbeth, the motif sight represents a terrible event or murder; coinciding
with the event, while also highlighting Macbeth s lack of accountability for the crimes. Through the
use of the motif sight, it is conveyed that Macbeth decides he must turn a blind eye to the murder of
Duncan. While trying to secure the throne he is prophesied to have, Macbeth frequently questions
whether he should interfere with fate s process. After speaking with Duncan, Macbeth steps aside and
states, The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be /which the eye fears, when it is done, to see (1.4.59
60). Macbeth s thoughts to kill Duncan are so evil when he does it that Macbeth doesn t want to look.
In addition, the eye is a directly related to the brain, therefore, by winking, Macbeth tries to avoid
acknowledging the evil he may commit. To conclude, Macbeth cannot stomach the thought of killing
Duncan so he must turn a blind eye to it; he will try to literally not see it, and not acknowledge it
cognitively. Another example of Macbeth turning a blind eye is after the killing of Duncan. Macbeth
discusses with Lady Macbeth the remorse and guilt he feels. He states, I am afraid to think what I have
done. / Look at again I dare not (2.2.66 67). Even after killing Duncan in attempt to claim the throne,
Macbeth refuses to look at Duncan and his dead body. This again highlights Macbeth s refusal to
condone his deeds as he cannot bare to look at what he has done. The final sight motif used by
Macbeth precedes the murder of Banquo. Even after Duncan is dead, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth
cannot stand idle and wait for the crown to be delivered to them; they decree to remove any threats
posed to their succession. For this reason, they hire three murderers to kill Banquo. While talking to
Lady Macbeth about their plans, Macbeth responds, Come, seeling night, / scarf up the tender eye of
pitiful day / and with thy bloody and invisible hand (3.2.52 54). Similarly to the first passage, Macbeth
is saying the actions of killing Banquo are so violent that it cannot be visible by the light of day.
Related to both passages, Macbeth does not want anyone to

A Comparison of A Modest Proposal, Tartuffe, and Candide
Writers use personality traits and events to change the classical ideals. Majority of the writer s focus is
to change people s attitude s. Jonathan Swift, Jean Baptiste Poquelin Moliere, Francois Marie Arquet
de Voltaire use characterization and plot to challenge the themes of the Neo Classical period.
In A Modest Proposal, Jonathan Swift challenges the Neo classical period by creating a sense of
instability in their way of thinking. He attacks the society by carelessly endorsing cannibalism in
hopes to help Ireland through their economic crisis. He demonstrates this by humbly proposing and
assuring that a young healthy child, well nursed, is, at a year old, a most delicious, nourishing, and
wholesome food. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Swift demands the audience to recognize the narrator s purpose having no other motive than the public
good of my country, by advancing our trade, providing for infant s, relieving the poor, and giving
some pleasure to the rich. (Swift 489) The speaker optimistically believes that his idea is for the best.
If Swift did not believe that his idea would not have a positive outcome he would not have suggested.
Regardless of Swift s inhumane suggestion, which is negative, he only tries to reveal the positive of
the situation. This feeling of insecurity is his way of disparaging the Irish and English government.
In Tartuffe, Moliere s use s plot to defend and oppose characters that symbolize and ridicule habitual
behavior s that was imposed during the neo classical time period. His work, known as a comedy of
manners, consists of flat characters, with few and similar traits, and that always restore some kind of
peace in the end. He down plays society as a whole by creating a microseism, where everyone in the
family has to be obedient, respectful, and mindful of the head of the home, which is played by the
father Orgon. Mariane shows her obedience when she replies To please you, sir, is what delights me
best. (Moliere 324,11) Shortly afterwards, Orgon commands Mariane to take Tartuffe as her husband
even though she is not interested in him at all. Orgon s command shows how men are dominate

Relationship Between Arthur And Mordred
At the start of the final book, the Narrator provides some information about Mordred and explains his
hatred for Arthur. The narrator remembers Mordred saying It may have happened long ago, but that
doesn t alter the fact that Arthur is my father, and that he turned me adrift in a boat as a baby (ch. 1,
pg. 519). This highlights the complicated relationship between Mordred and Arthur. Arthur will
certainly not be awarded any father of the year awards, but Mordred s hatred of Arthur is still
surprising. This really sets the scene for the final book, Mordred seeking his revenge for his
abandonment. It also highlights how the characters have developed into their separate entities, how
they shaped their paths.

revenge plans, wanting to gain his personal justice against his father. He has moved away from trying
to please his father, or even reasoning with his father, and has now accepted the title of the true villain
of the novel. Mordred has driven himself crazy and the only thing left is to kill the source of his
hatred. It is almost funny though that he survived the emotional abuse of his deranged mother, but is

Starbucks Case Study Essay
Starbucks is one of the most recognized brands in the world. Since 1971 Starbucks has become
synonymous with coffee which they used to embody the brand and create a lifestyle behind it.
Starbucks wants the world to know they have more to offer than coffee and are committed to meeting
the needs of society. We re not just passionate purveyors of coffee, but everything else that goes along
with a full and rewarding coffeehouse experience. It s not unusual to see people coming to Starbucks
to chat, meet up or even work (Starbucks). In addition to coffee Starbucks locations keep a customer

Capitalization is the American way and Starbucks shareholders are in favor of the profit potential and
so are market insiders who feel this may boost Starbucks resume. Scott Bedbury, who was marketing
chief for Starbucks and Nike back in the 1990s, says the evolution is critical for Starbucks and notes
that wine sales could bring in latte like profits (Horovitz, 2010). The biggest challenges for Starbucks
is gaining entry into this new market and retaining customer loyalty.
Starbucks understands the coffee and the liquor markets both require government regulation. Since
most of Starbucks coffee is grown by the company in/out of the U.S. it s the percentage that is
imported from foreign producers that will cause the most challenge to Starbucks manufacturing
revenue. In order of Starbucks to gain entry to the wine and beer industry it will have to rely on its
advantage on handling government regulation, but the blending of markets will require some creative
strategies. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in the United Sates mandates what products are
sold for consumption in U.S. markets. Starbucks marketing executives and shareholders know that
imposing certain restrictions of foreign imports by the government will limit competition by making it
more costly. More subtly, a firm can favor laws that raise its costs but raise competitors costs by more.

The Merchant Of Venice, Antony And Cleopatra, And Dr Faustus
Whilst the writer s selection of place bears great significance throughout many eras, the Renaissance
period is particularly fascinating in relation to setting. These playwrights were living through an
extraordinary and unprecedented flowering of drama and, consequentially, were afforded opportunities
that would have been unimaginable even a century before. The flourishing of drama necessitated the
creation of playhouses, in which setting could be conveyed more accurately and elaborately than in
the millennia that preceded. The combination of the uninhibited creativity associated with the
Renaissance and the realisation of the new possibilities of the commercial stage facilitated an
extremely nuanced and complex exploration of setting and place; providing us with some of the most
memorable and meaningful settings ever featured in literature. Setting provides a unique opportunity,
if chosen astutely, for the playwright to communicate narrative, and shape character, without having to
explicitly or linguistically express it. I intend to focus The Merchant of Venice, Antony and Cleopatra,
and Dr Faustus in order to display how setting directly affects the plot and often aids in forging our
understanding of identities within the play. Through consideration of the implications and ideals
attached to the settings presented throughout the texts, we can more accurately infer the sentiments of
the writer and understand the ways in which place gives impetus to plot.

today Timothy like and Paul like missionaries. Timothy left his home in Lystra and joined the apostle
Paul during his second missionary journey. He crossed different Mediterranean cultures and

named (Rom. 15:20). By this criterion, Pastor P.T.

Essay about Salman Rushdie’s Idea of Women in The Satanic...
In Salman Rushdie s novel The Satanic Verses Rushdie tells a story about two men, Saladin Chamcha
and Gibreel Farishta, oddly connected by the fact that they both survive the hijacking of their aircraft.
Throughout the novel, Gibreel has powerful dreams in which the narrator brings up the topic of the
Satanic Verses. The Satanic Verses were supposedly verses that Muhammad said were part of the
Quran and then were later revoked. The Verses allegedly said that Allah was not the only god and that
there were three slightly lesser female deities. It is believed that the Satanic Verses were removed from
the Quran because they accepted females as divine. In The Satanic Verses women are portrayed as evil

During the course of the novel, Rushdie uses the narrator, whom we assume to be Satan himself, to
illustrate to the reader why women are more inclined to not follow the strict rules of Islam, and instead
stray towards to devil because of better quality of life promised with the devil as opposed to the
demeaning and shameful life they lead in the religion of Islam. In the Mahound chapter of The Satanic
Verses, the narrator tells the story of Ibrahim and his wife and son, Hagar and Ismail. He took them to
a waterless wilderness (96) where he abandoned them, but before he left Hagar asked him Can this be
God s will? (96), and Ibrahim replied that it was. The narrator says that men have always used God as
an excuse to mistreat women in their lives and then goes off on a tangent thinking to himself Small
wonder, then, that women have turned to me (96). This is where the reader can make the inference that
the narrator is Satan because women are turning to him and away from God and religion. They feel as
though they are treated better by the devil rather than God because the men in Islamic societies always
justify the horrible things they do to women by saying it is indeed God s will. Later on in the book in
the chapter A City Visible but Unseen Rushdie again shows the favoritism of males over females.

Reflective Essay On Astronomy
The last time I remember learning about astronomy formally was as far back as elementary school,
where we learned about the basics of our solar system s planets and other ideas about space commonly
known by most people. Having never studied astronomy at a higher level, going into this class felt
similar to traveling to a foreign country, or sailing in foreign waters, so to speak. Many of the concepts
and facts have been things I have had little to no prior knowledge of. But regardless of any of that, I
cannot express the importance of this area of study in my life. In the past I have read comments
online, as well as heard things in real life, about how some subjects have no value in being studied
unless one is majoring in them. While my major is not astronomy, much less even science, I still could
not disagree more with this sort of thought. I can relate to some of the concepts of astronomy on a
very deep and personal level, to the point where my psychological state is affected, and I will explain
these thoughts in detail later. While these areas of great interest have not yet been covered in the
course, I cannot say that I have not found all of the current topics fascinating. As one who has a deep
interest in mathematics, I found a few of the concepts rather thought provoking, and I will again this
later. I will lastly discuss what I thought of the material as a whole, what I got most out of it, and what
my experiences were during and after learning it. Out of everything

inspiration on the political state of China, like it became a highly centralized and bureaucratic

it is really light in RAM usage and CPU load. Lighttpd also normally use the I/O bound rather than the

There also some disadvantages of Lighttpd web server. Lighttpd web server s design has faced some

Lighttpd only uses several threads and it will not gain too much from increasing more CPUs.

of the Lighttpd server which is Lighttpd buffer output from CGI server process in internal buffers.
This will leads to less RAM memory consumption. It is a weak design that using Lighttpd to send iso

Media s Influence On The Socialization Of A Child
As media technology now offers various ways to access TV contents, such as on the Internet, cell

a Kaiser family foundation study, 8 10 year old children expose average 7 hours 51 minutes to media
in a typical day. 11 14 year old children and 15 18 year old children spend average 11 hours in a day.
(Victoria et al.) Children thoroughly perceive and accept the concepts from media, so it is the

Most Youtubers have a schedule on when they post videos, like they try to post on tuesday and friday
every week. Everyone has their own schedule, I mean some post every weekday while others post
about once a month. So having a concrete agenda for your subscribers to follow is a great plan.
Staying true to that schedule and planning it all out is a great control mechanism to use as a YouTuber.
This could entail setting reminders every once in awhile to make sure you don t forget to record that
weeks video. Or you could take a day to plan out video ideas for the whole month and when you will
post them. This mechanism is important to being a successful YouTuber because having those daily
videos all planned out will assure you of a daily paycheck. It will also show your subscribers that you
are dedicated to the channel and their needs. Plus it might lead you to a good reputation because you
will seem as a very organized individual in having a timely schedule.
There are websites on the internet that can help you observe everything about your subscriber count
and demographics. Keeping up to date on those sort of things will really give you that understanding
of your fans that you need in order to flourish. Your able to look at how many subscribers you have
and a pie chart of their ages, genders, and wearabouts. It really helps you get down to the core and see

Amazing Grace Play Analysis
On July 22nd, 2015, I was given the opportunity to witness a remarkable Broadway Play, called
Amazing Grace. I attended this play along with my fellow peers from the Rutgers College of Nursing
EOF program. This was the first time for most of my peers along with myself to attend a Broadway
show. Amazing Grace depicts the issue of slavery during the 1780s and the early 1800s. The main
character John Newton faced many challenges throughout the play and in the end he overcomes those
hindrances by realizing slavery degraded human beings.
One of the features that made the play exciting was the sound effect. Throughout the play, there were
many sound effects of gunshots, the ocean, and storms. These sounds captured my attention and made
me feel as if I was involved in the show. Typically, I am a person who gets uninterested easily at
things I do not enjoy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The setting changed very often of the play and every new setting was excellent. It was amazing how
the people from the production of the play were able to master every setting with such a small
environment. There was this one scene toward the intermission where John Newton was travelling in a
ship and there was a storm, which destroyed the ship, and John Newton was drowning. However, John
Newton s friend, an African American slave, saved him and swam up to the shore. During this scene
there was a screen, which came down in front of the stage, and the effects made it look similar to a
view from under the ocean. Behind the screen one could see Thomas grabbing onto John Newton and
swimming up toward the surface of the water. This was truly amusing for the reason that it convinced
me to think it was actually water. Thus, the setting played a major role in capturing the attention of the
audience, which made everything look as if it was all happening in the 1780 s to

The Negative Effects Of Rap Music In Modern Music And Pop...
When you re king of African music you re the king because music is the king of all professions (Fela
Kuti: Music is the Weapon). Rap music has been a staple in modern day music and pop culture since
its beginning in the 1970 s in the South Bronx area of New York. Rap started as an underground
movement started by many artists and DJ s (or disc jockeys). It started as a form of expressing oneself
and discussing many social and political issues through music. But now in the 21st century, rap has
changed dramatically to where the meaning of rap is almost entirely forgotten and squanders to a
whole new low. Hip Hop/Rap of this generation now condones vulgar activities to a young audience

In the music industry, it s very common nowadays for most artists to change their appearances to a
more sexually appealing and risque look to attract fans, money, etc. These practices of bad imagery
are present in hip hop music the most out of all the genres. Bad imagery in rap is one of the main
causes of the exploitation of women in this country today. Women are being overexposed in rap music
whether that being a sex symbol, gold digger, or a freak . According to Dr. Carolyn West from the
University of Washington, Black girls are not seeing positive images of who they are and what they
be. Looking at sexual imagery really impacts the functioning of teenage girls (Post Gazette 2).
Teenage girls see these women in various videos and songs and they believe that they should mimic
the same actions that they are portraying. Misogyny is also a present factor in songs like Rake it Up by
Yo Gotti with lines like, I tell all my h***, Rake it up, break it down, bag it up (Yo Gotti 2017). Songs
such as those degrade women and show younger males how to treat women which is a false teaching
toward the younger generation. Teens can be easily swayed by hip hop to become the imagery shown
through hip hop and become these people which changes their perception on other people and changes
their attitudes.
Though many people don t realize it. rap music is the modern day poetry in present day society. Just
like romanticism in the 1770 s,

Essay on Walker s Message of Personal Heritage in...
Alice Walker s Everyday Use is a short story about a mother and two very different daughters set in
rural Georgia during the late 1960 s. The plot is centered around on the two daughters, Dee and
Maggie, and focusing on the differences between the two and who will gain possession of two hand
made quilts that are seen as a coveted trophy by Dee and are viewed as everyday items Maggie. The
final decision of which daughter ultimately receives the quilts will be made by Momma Johnson.
Momma, who is never given a first name in the story, is a strong black woman with many man like
qualities. In real life I am a large, big boned woman with rough, man working hands. In the winter I

I will be focusing this paper on the reasons why Maggie should be given the quilts, reasons why Dee
should not be allowed to take them, and what this tell us about Alice Walker s sense of what it means
to be in touch with one s heritage. Maggie deserves the quilts because she appreciates the practical
value of the items and would naturally use them as they were intended. Like her grandmother, Maggie
is a person who values the quilts more as a practical solution for staying warm at night than as folk art
which should be displayed in a museum. Dee s thoughts of her simple minded sister come into full
light during a conversation with Momma when her request for the quilts is denied. Maggie can t
appreciate these quilts! She d probably be backward enough to put them the everyday use. I reckon
she would, Momma replied, God knows I been saving em long enough with nobody using em. I hope
she will. (DiYanni 748) With little or no money during tough times, poorer families have often had to
be more self reliant where learning to sew was a skill that was valued and passed down to the younger
generation. Maggie embraced this skill while her more ambitious sister did not see the value in
learning such an ordinary task. She can always make more, Momma said, Maggie knows how to

The Origin Of The Ais Indians
Long before the Western countries discovered North America, the Native Americans lived and thrived
here. Historians believe these wandering peoples crossed over a land bridge that formed when the
earth froze over, officially named Beringia, to get to North America. These nomadic Natives began
spreading and forming different tribes around North America. One of the many tribes was the Ais
Indians of Florida. By themselves, the tribes reigned the New World, but contact with the Westerns
began their tragic demise. Although little is known about the origins of the Ais Indians, historians do
know that they settled around 1000 BC. The Ais Indians were located on the Atlantic Coast of Florida,
from present day Cape Canaveral to St. Lucie. This area would have covered four counties: Brevard,
Indian River, St. Lucie, and the northern part of Martin. The Ais Indians resided in towns and villages
along the Indian River in huts. Similar to any group of people, the Ais had a leader called the Cacique.
The Cacique was determined by whom the most respected matrilineal family was in the tribe. Unlike
the traditions of the West, the Cacique would rule through suggestion instead of force. Regarding to
housing, the huts they lived in were framed with wood or sticks, then they were covered in palmetto
leaves to form walls and a roof. As expected, the Cacique s hut was larger and more furnished than the
rest of the huts. Their diet mainly consisted of fish, oysters, clams, snails, and sea grapes

This teen was in court in twenty thirteen, and was pleading that he had affluenza, which caused the

during his probation, and must check in with his officer. The Teen was found at a party drinking, so

World War 1-Who Was to Blame
World War 1 who was to blame? World War 1 broke out when the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of
Austria was assassinated by Gavrilo Princip in 1914, whose organization implicated members of
Serbian military. For this reason, the Austro Hungarian Empire declared war on Serbia, supported by
Germany. This triggered chain reaction, nations in Europe declaring war on the other nations, which,
with in a month, caused Europe to turn into a battlefield. The Great War was ended, when the Treaty
of Versailles and several other treaties were signed in 1919 and Germany was fully held responsible
for causing the war. But it is not justified, that Germany, and Germany alone, should be held
responsible for the outbreak of the war, even though her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It ended up with a conference, in which the German Kaiser humiliated and tensions were built. In
1911, France tries to take over Morocco again, so Morocco requests support. What happens is because
the British did not want German ships in the Mediterranean, and was afraid that Germany would going
to build a fort on the coast, another conference was called, and France takes over Morocco, but as
compensation, Germany was given land in central Africa. This creates animosity in Germany towards
the French and the British, because Germany lost against the French, failing to protect Morocco.
German imperialism, the Kaiser s ambition of over sea empire, and nationalism, the thought of
Germany being the world power, has caused militarism, expansion of her army and navy. The three
elements were the causes of World War 1 but what has made the war inevitable was the alliance
system that existed at that time. The alliance system, which at that time was used to prevent any war,
has caused this huge war when Austro Hungarian Empire declared war on Serbia, and making it
ineluctable. This proves that the blank cheque that was given to Austria was reasonable, for Austria
was Germany s ally, and as allies, they should support each other. The same was done with Russia
with countries in the Balkans. As Austro Hungarian Empire declares war on Serbia, Russia mobilizes
her army and prepares her troops to help the Serbs to protect themselves from the Austro Hungarian

commodity, humility, and how to resolve differences . (Kobe Bryant). Sports are all over the world
and range from many activities such as hockey, basketball, football, cricket, swimming, and bowling. I
as a youth participated in many different sports including volleyball, basketball, soccer, golf, tennis,
and gymnastics and with all of these sports I was able to grow my confidence, determination, and
leadership that I now carry with me through life. All children benefit by being involved in a sport at
some point in their life. Today I will discuss the Health, social and psychological benefits and
Educational benefits that come from children participating in sports. Not every sport is for every child
and not everyone is amazing at sports, but all children should experience sports and find a sport they
love. With sports children can grow into healthy and athletic adults as well as successful humans with
high positivity in physical activity. Sports enhances the physical and mental developments of children
and aids their growth as they get older and become adults

Education Is The Implementation Of A Standard Curriculum
Introduction One of the most significant and prevalent changes seen in education is the
implementation of a standard curriculum. Prior to this effort there were many ineffective practices that
occurred within the nation s schools. According to Girod, G.R., Girod, M (n.d.), there was a time that
students were measured on such things as a spelling test. If you spelled a certain number of words
correctly you were considered a good speller, but did that mean you actually understood the context of
the word or was it just memorization? Although there is much debate as to whether or not standard
curriculum is fair to all students given different learning styles and aptitudes, in this paper I will go
over the some of the important factors and benefits in implementing a standard curriculum. I will also
go over how one district in Tempe does exactly this. The Importance of Curriculum at the District
Level District frameworks are those that are developed at a local or regional district level. If possible a
curriculum committee will be established at the local level to help address the issues coming from a
higher level, according to Berkas, N., Pattison, C. (2000). The benefit of such district level leadership
is that it coordinates and aligns the curriculum and assessment to ensure alignment with the state and
district standards. A further benefit is that teachers are trained and prepared to meet the higher
expectations of the state and district and to deliver a shared

Theories Of The Id, Ego, And Superego
Marcuse develops the aesthetic principle based on modification of Freudian theories of the Id, ego,
and superego.in Freud s writings the id is behavior stem from libido energy, is what gives us pleasure.
The ego is the part of the psyche that represents and regulates reality. The ego strives for what is
useful and what can be obtained without damage to itself and to its vital environment. Under the
reality principle, the human being develops the function of reason: it learns to test the reality, to
distinguish between good and bad, true and false, useful and harmful (Marcuse). The ego is essentially
what has allowed us to stay alive or not burn our hand with the pretty campfire a second time. The
superego is our moral compass that has been thought to us since the day we were born; it is simply the
rules and ethical norms of the society we live in. Although Marcuse does develop some of his theory
on Freud s theories he rejects Freud s ahistorical approach and chooses to politicize Freud s primarily
psychological theories.
Marcuse s aesthetic principle is an extension of the id, while the performance principle is an extension
of to the ego. The aesthetic principle is a system where society encourages people to live in a way that
will give them true joy or happiness. According to Marcuse if society transforms from to aesthetic
based society it will eventually lead to the dissolvent of systems where a few powerful elites have total
control.
Marcuse discusses how the

Analysis Of Jason Brennan s Second Chapter Of Against...
In Jason Brennan s second chapter of Against Democracy (2016) multiple topics are discussed
pertaining to the political action of voting. Throughout this chapter Brennan explores the ideologies of
rational ignorance and rational irrationality about politics, as well as the psychological benefits of
holding firm to an irrational belief, and the cognitive biases or errors displayed in society. Brennan s
views create controversy and often times don t seem to directly favor one another. Although I admired
the viewpoints Brennan gave, I had a difficult time buying into the philosophical ideas he presented.
As we progress in this paper, we will learn more about Brennan s narrow view of politics being only
associated to voting. Brennan created adequate argument for the philosophical measures he presents,
however this strict polices don t seem to equate with democracy in its entirety.
Within the second chapter of Against Democracy (2016), we become aware of rational ignorance
about politics and rational irrationality about politics. These two subjects hold considerable weight in
Brennan s expression of what it means to be political. Rational ignorance is when the costs of
acquiring knowledge surpass the benefits of having that knowledge (Brennan, 2016). In relation to
politics, which Brennan exclusively only refers to as voting and not any other political action, rational
ignorance is when there is no benefit to learning political matter because you vote will not matter or

Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs In The Movie, The Blind Side
In this video clip from the movie, The Blind Side, Leigh Anne (Sandra Bullock) tries to motivate
Michael (Quinton Aaron) while playing football. The levels exemplified in Maslow s Hierarchy of
Needs here are safety and security needs, belongingness, self actualization, and cognitive.
Firstly, Michael shows motivation through safety and security because he was told to think about
defending his teamates just as if he would defend Leigh Anne and her young son he cares a lot about.
Through belongingness, Michael works hard in practice in ordor to please Leigh Anne, his coach, and
his teamates so they can win together as a team. Michael also has self actualization when he begins to
defend his quarterback and teamates only after Leigh Anne motivates him. She tells Michael that he

Life In Milan Kundera s The Unbearable Lightness Of Being
In The Unbearable Lightness of Being , Milan Kundera informs readers that without the ability to
compare our lives to others, we cannot find meaning in our lives, but remain between life s lightness
and heaviness. He does this by illustrating the relationships between four characters: Tomas, Tereza,
Sabina, and Franz. The novel begins in the year 1968 with Tomas, who is a brilliant surgeon from
Prague and a perpetual bachelor. In a small town cafe, he fortuitously met Tereza, who was his
waitress; to Tereza, the moment was magical because one of her favorite compositions by Beethoven
was playing on the radio and that he enjoyed literature. Tereza evidently followed Tomas to Prague
with her life packed within a suitcase and she intended to offer her life to him. The two started living
with each other, but Tomas was incapable of terminating his bachelor lifestyle full of mistresses. He
tried to hide his infidelity, but Tereza found a letter from one of his mistresses, Sabina. She wrote to
Tomas saying, I want to make love to you in my studio. It will be like a stage surrounded by people.
The audience won t be allowed up close, but they won t be able to take their eyes off us. (Pg. 16).
Tomas confessed and told her that these sexual acts were separate from his love for her. This
information marred Tereza s mind; she starting having horrendous nightmares and began
contemplating suicide. He then married her, to relieve her of her distress. Yet he still kept his
mistresses. Eventually Sabina and Tereza become close friends, but Tereza s jealousy still remained
the same. Sabina, Tereza, and Tomas fled to Switzerland due to the Soviet Union inhabiting
Czechoslovakia. Tereza left behind her career as a photographer, became unemployed, and had to sit
home alone as Tomas continued his affairs. She then began to believe, when the strong were too weak
to hurt the weak, the weak have to be strong enough to leave. (Pg. 75). Then, she returned back to
Prague. Tomas was enjoying his liberation for a few days, but he gave up and left for Prague. This
evidently meant that the couple gave up their freedom because there was no chance that the couple
would be allowed to leave again due to the Communist regime. In

Aristotle Is A Well Renowned Philosopher That Lived And
Aristotle is a well renowned philosopher that lived and taught in Greece during the time of 350 B.C.
He was a student of Plato, yet is famous for rejecting Plato s theory of forms. He was both a prolific
writer in addition to a polymath and expanded the knowledge of numerous areas of study. He even
classified a multitude of distinctions for different aspects of knowledge that are still in use today such
as mathematics and biology. Aristotle was the first to develop a formalized system of logic which was
based on the structure of an argument rather than its contents. Aristotle created some 200 treatises of

Why are humans able to reason? It is because they have a rational soul. Then why do they have a
rational soul? It is because they are able to reason. Henceforth the argument is of circular logic. It does
however give us a classification for different categories of life which is important in Aristotle s
delvings into the sciences.
Aristotle lacked the technical and conceptual tools utilized by modern science in his endeavors to
explain why something is true instead of the statement that something it is true. Utilizing the
Aristotelian invention of syllogism, Aristotle s logic followed that if the premises for an explanation of
a phenomena is valid, as is the form, then the conclusion will be that of scientific truth. While
Aristotle erred in his findings in many of the various scientific realms, such as a geocentric versus
heliocentric solar system, his scientific application of syllogism gave way to modern scientific
empiricism which is the idea that an abstract argument must be supported by factual evidence and for
the theory to be judged by a tribunal of observation.
Given the numerous advances in technology and the human culture since 350 B.C. and Aristotle s
syllogistic view, it is possible that he could adapt to modern viewpoints by applying means of
demonstrations and scientific deduction in tandem with modern knowledge convey what modern
science currently holds as true. It is also important to know that science is ever changing,

On 25 March 2017, at 0220 hours in the City of Goddard, Officer Tabor was traveling Westbound at
the 20000 block of West Kellogg in his patrol vehicle. As he approached 20300 West Kellogg, he
decided that he would check the business lot. While slowing his vehicle and maneuvering it into the
right hand turn lane, he visually saw a small sized SUV type vehicle facing South at the stop sign of
Main Street and West Kellogg. While executing his right hand turn, Officer Tabor s headlights shined
onto the driver s side and front interior of the vehicle stopped at the stop sign. This facilitated Officer
Tabor to visually see that the driver was not wearing their safety belt and was instead leaned over the
center console, presumebly looking at the cellular phone being held by the front seat passenger.
As Officer Tabor continued to the Northern most part of Main Street in the City of Goddard, he
noticed with the aid of his driver s side mirror that the same vehicle was still sitting at a complete stop
at the stop sign of Main Street and Kellogg. This seemed to be abnormal behavior for just after two in
the morning in Goddard, as the lack of traffic that time of day should not impede the entry of a vehicle
onto the highway after stopping at the stop sign. At this moment, Officer Tabor took the oppurtiniut to
orient his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Officer Tabor rolled down the back windows for her to cool off by. Officer Tabor and Pracht arrived at

  • 4. Comparison of Oedipus the King and Death of a Salesman Essay The elements of a play are setting, irony, plot, characters, and theme, which will be discussed in the essay. Oedipus the King opens in a Greek amphitheatre depicting the front of a Theban palace. Throughout the play, the setting remains constant. This changes to a more fast paced play with different settings in different places in Death of a Salesman. Dramatic irony in Oedipus the King is evident throughout, which is similar to the latter play, but in a different form. In here, the irony is evident. Oedipus the King revolves around characters attempts to change their destiny (which fails) Jocasta and Laius s killing of Oedipus and Oedipus s flight from Corinth. Willy Loman is a troubled and misguided man a salesman and a dreamer with an extreme preoccupation with his own definition of success. Willy feels that physical impact is greater than the elements of his self defined success. However, it is apparent that Willy Loman is no successful man, even by the audience s standards. He is still a travelling salesman in his sixties with no stable location or occupation, but clings on to his dreams and ideals. He compares his sons with Bernard, using him as a gauge of success. Nonetheless, he stays in the belief that his sons are better than Bernard. Willy recollects the neighbourhood years ago, and reminisces working for Frank Wagner, although he was also in the same condition then as now. He feels that the older Wagner appreciated him more, yet it was himself who voted Howard in. Arthur Miller presents Willy as a man with great bravado but little energy left to support it. He is always tired and has dementia, contradicting himself in his conversations and showing some memory loss, living in his world of illusions and delusions. He argues with Biff, both men without knowing why. The two sons of Willy display the physical appearance of adulthood, but their talk and attitude displays immaturity. Billy finds that he is a failure because of his lack of `success , while Happy thinks he is unfulfilled because he lacks failure. The plot of Oedipus the King is straightforward, which ... • 5. Stagecoach Film Essay In the film Stagecoach (John Ford, 1939) the Western characteristics of this film are that the cowboys in the film are resourceful and restricted to no one. They are fully competent of roaming the frontier on their own without having to rely on the securities of civilization. Yet they also have a code of honor; although they are ruggedly independent, the cowboys respect the rules of society and is unwilling to exploit others or to condone the careless disregard for human life exhibited by outlaws or stereotypically Indians. Though the passengers begin the film as simple types, their confinement in the small stagecoach allows layers to be peeled back, revealing more characters. Social prejudice is displayed by more proper society types like Lucy and the banker against the hard drinking doctor and the woman of a bad reputation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The film Australia starts like a cheesy slapstick comedy, turns into a romantic daydream, then into an outback adventure, then into a war movie, and then a genuine drama. This film is all over the place and really is just too much. This film does however use the Western characteristic and landscape in that it represents stories of older times. It is a fictional historical costume drama set before and during World War II. The reason I say that it is a fictional historical film is that it has silly facts about the Japanese being near Australian soil during World War II when that was actually not the case. There are the typical horse scenes and Lady Sarah Ashley is the damsel in distress trying to herd her cattle with the help from her husband s drover. I feel like this film is just a mockery of the Western genre and it should not be categorized as one. The film only uses cattle ranching as an excuse to steal iconography from Hollywood Westerns, specifically a 1930s John Ford cowboy motion picture ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Power In Hesiod s Theogony In Hesiod s Theogony, the Greek family relationships were often a repeated cycle between the husband, wife and their children. Based on the generations including Ouranos, all the men that came to rule automatically loathed their child, because they believed their children would take away their power. Since this behavior was similarly recurring every generation, the women were often forced to create wicked plans involving their children s rise to power. The cycle of power, deceit and achievement created by the families in the first generation of Greek mythology became dominant characteristics that future generations would inherit. The need for power started with the first generation of gods, Ouranos and Gaia. After Ouranos and Gaia had children, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though he didn t grow up around his father, Cronos, Zeus inherited a lot of the same instincts and anxiety. As generations continued, Zeus had learned from mistakes of the previous generations. • 8. Motif And Motifs In Macbeth Sight of Darkness: Analyzing Murder Motifs in Macbeth Throughout Shakespeare s Macbeth, the motif sight represents a terrible event or murder; coinciding with the event, while also highlighting Macbeth s lack of accountability for the crimes. Through the use of the motif sight, it is conveyed that Macbeth decides he must turn a blind eye to the murder of Duncan. While trying to secure the throne he is prophesied to have, Macbeth frequently questions whether he should interfere with fate s process. After speaking with Duncan, Macbeth steps aside and states, The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be /which the eye fears, when it is done, to see (1.4.59 60). Macbeth s thoughts to kill Duncan are so evil when he does it that Macbeth doesn t want to look. In addition, the eye is a directly related to the brain, therefore, by winking, Macbeth tries to avoid acknowledging the evil he may commit. To conclude, Macbeth cannot stomach the thought of killing Duncan so he must turn a blind eye to it; he will try to literally not see it, and not acknowledge it cognitively. Another example of Macbeth turning a blind eye is after the killing of Duncan. Macbeth discusses with Lady Macbeth the remorse and guilt he feels. He states, I am afraid to think what I have done. / Look at again I dare not (2.2.66 67). Even after killing Duncan in attempt to claim the throne, Macbeth refuses to look at Duncan and his dead body. This again highlights Macbeth s refusal to condone his deeds as he cannot bare to look at what he has done. The final sight motif used by Macbeth precedes the murder of Banquo. Even after Duncan is dead, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth cannot stand idle and wait for the crown to be delivered to them; they decree to remove any threats posed to their succession. For this reason, they hire three murderers to kill Banquo. While talking to Lady Macbeth about their plans, Macbeth responds, Come, seeling night, / scarf up the tender eye of pitiful day / and with thy bloody and invisible hand (3.2.52 54). Similarly to the first passage, Macbeth is saying the actions of killing Banquo are so violent that it cannot be visible by the light of day. Majority of the writer s focus is to change people s attitude s. Jonathan Swift, Jean Baptiste Poquelin Moliere, Francois Marie Arquet de Voltaire use characterization and plot to challenge the themes of the Neo Classical period. In A Modest Proposal, Jonathan Swift challenges the Neo classical period by creating a sense of instability in their way of thinking. He attacks the society by carelessly endorsing cannibalism in hopes to help Ireland through their economic crisis. He demonstrates this by humbly proposing and assuring that a young healthy child, well nursed, is, at a year old, a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food. ... Regardless of Swift s inhumane suggestion, which is negative, he only tries to reveal the positive of the situation. This feeling of insecurity is his way of disparaging the Irish and English government. In Tartuffe, Moliere s use s plot to defend and oppose characters that symbolize and ridicule habitual behavior s that was imposed during the neo classical time period. His work, known as a comedy of manners, consists of flat characters, with few and similar traits, and that always restore some kind of peace in the end. The narrator remembers Mordred saying It may have happened long ago, but that doesn t alter the fact that Arthur is my father, and that he turned me adrift in a boat as a baby (ch. 1, pg. 519). This highlights the complicated relationship between Mordred and Arthur. Arthur will certainly not be awarded any father of the year awards, but Mordred s hatred of Arthur is still surprising. • 12. The Merchant Of Venice, Antony And Cleopatra, And Dr Faustus Whilst the writer s selection of place bears great significance throughout many eras, the Renaissance period is particularly fascinating in relation to setting. These playwrights were living through an extraordinary and unprecedented flowering of drama and, consequentially, were afforded opportunities that would have been unimaginable even a century before. The flourishing of drama necessitated the creation of playhouses, in which setting could be conveyed more accurately and elaborately than in the millennia that preceded. The combination of the uninhibited creativity associated with the Renaissance and the realisation of the new possibilities of the commercial stage facilitated an extremely nuanced and complex exploration of setting and place; providing us with some of the most memorable and meaningful settings ever featured in literature. Setting provides a unique opportunity, if chosen astutely, for the playwright to communicate narrative, and shape character, without having to explicitly or linguistically express it. I intend to focus The Merchant of Venice, Antony and Cleopatra, and Dr Faustus in order to display how setting directly affects the plot and often aids in forging our understanding of identities within the play. Through consideration of the implications and ideals attached to the settings presented throughout the texts, we can more accurately infer the sentiments of the writer and understand the ways in which place gives impetus to plot. Throughout the novel, Gibreel has powerful dreams in which the narrator brings up the topic of the Satanic Verses. The Satanic Verses were supposedly verses that Muhammad said were part of the Quran and then were later revoked. In the Mahound chapter of The Satanic Verses, the narrator tells the story of Ibrahim and his wife and son, Hagar and Ismail. He took them to a waterless wilderness (96) where he abandoned them, but before he left Hagar asked him Can this be God s will? (96), and Ibrahim replied that it was. The narrator says that men have always used God as an excuse to mistreat women in their lives and then goes off on a tangent thinking to himself Small wonder, then, that women have turned to me (96). This is where the reader can make the inference that the narrator is Satan because women are turning to him and away from God and religion. They feel as though they are treated better by the devil rather than God because the men in Islamic societies always justify the horrible things they do to women by saying it is indeed God s will. • 27. World War 1-Who Was to Blame World War 1 who was to blame? World War 1 broke out when the Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated by Gavrilo Princip in 1914, whose organization implicated members of Serbian military. For this reason, the Austro Hungarian Empire declared war on Serbia, supported by Germany. This triggered chain reaction, nations in Europe declaring war on the other nations, which, with in a month, caused Europe to turn into a battlefield. The Great War was ended, when the Treaty of Versailles and several other treaties were signed in 1919 and Germany was fully held responsible for causing the war. It ended up with a conference, in which the German Kaiser humiliated and tensions were built. In 1911, France tries to take over Morocco again, so Morocco requests support. What happens is because the British did not want German ships in the Mediterranean, and was afraid that Germany would going to build a fort on the coast, another conference was called, and France takes over Morocco, but as compensation, Germany was given land in central Africa. This creates animosity in Germany towards the French and the British, because Germany lost against the French, failing to protect Morocco. German imperialism, the Kaiser s ambition of over sea empire, and nationalism, the thought of Germany being the world power, has caused militarism, expansion of her army and navy. The three elements were the causes of World War 1 but what has made the war inevitable was the alliance system that existed at that time. The alliance system, which at that time was used to prevent any war, has caused this huge war when Austro Hungarian Empire declared war on Serbia, and making it ineluctable. This proves that the blank cheque that was given to Austria was reasonable, for Austria was Germany s ally, and as allies, they should support each other. Sports are all over the world and range from many activities such as hockey, basketball, football, cricket, swimming, and bowling. I as a youth participated in many different sports including volleyball, basketball, soccer, golf, tennis, and gymnastics and with all of these sports I was able to grow my confidence, determination, and leadership that I now carry with me through life. • 29. Education Is The Implementation Of A Standard Curriculum Introduction One of the most significant and prevalent changes seen in education is the implementation of a standard curriculum. Prior to this effort there were many ineffective practices that occurred within the nation s schools. According to Girod, G.R., Girod, M (n.d.), there was a time that students were measured on such things as a spelling test. If you spelled a certain number of words correctly you were considered a good speller, but did that mean you actually understood the context of the word or was it just memorization? Although there is much debate as to whether or not standard curriculum is fair to all students given different learning styles and aptitudes, in this paper I will go over the some of the important factors and benefits in implementing a standard curriculum. I will also go over how one district in Tempe does exactly this. The Importance of Curriculum at the District Level District frameworks are those that are developed at a local or regional district level. If possible a curriculum committee will be established at the local level to help address the issues coming from a higher level, according to Berkas, N., Pattison, C. (2000). The benefit of such district level leadership is that it coordinates and aligns the curriculum and assessment to ensure alignment with the state and district standards. A further benefit is that teachers are trained and prepared to meet the higher expectations of the state and district and to deliver a shared ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theories Of The Id, Ego, And Superego Marcuse develops the aesthetic principle based on modification of Freudian theories of the Id, ego, and superego.in Freud s writings the id is behavior stem from libido energy, is what gives us pleasure. The ego is the part of the psyche that represents and regulates reality. The ego strives for what is useful and what can be obtained without damage to itself and to its vital environment. Under the reality principle, the human being develops the function of reason: it learns to test the reality, to distinguish between good and bad, true and false, useful and harmful (Marcuse). The ego is essentially what has allowed us to stay alive or not burn our hand with the pretty campfire a second time. The superego is our moral compass that has been thought to us since the day we were born; it is simply the rules and ethical norms of the society we live in. Although Marcuse does develop some of his theory on Freud s theories he rejects Freud s ahistorical approach and chooses to politicize Freud s primarily psychological theories. Marcuse s aesthetic principle is an extension of the id, while the performance principle is an extension of to the ego. The aesthetic principle is a system where society encourages people to live in a way that will give them true joy or happiness. According to Marcuse if society transforms from to aesthetic based society it will eventually lead to the dissolvent of systems where a few powerful elites have total control. In Jason Brennan s second chapter of Against Democracy (2016) multiple topics are discussed pertaining to the political action of voting. Throughout this chapter Brennan explores the ideologies of rational ignorance and rational irrationality about politics, as well as the psychological benefits of holding firm to an irrational belief, and the cognitive biases or errors displayed in society. Brennan s views create controversy and often times don t seem to directly favor one another. Although I admired the viewpoints Brennan gave, I had a difficult time buying into the philosophical ideas he presented. As we progress in this paper, we will learn more about Brennan s narrow view of politics being only associated to voting. Brennan created adequate argument for the philosophical measures he presents, however this strict polices don t seem to equate with democracy in its entirety. Within the second chapter of Against Democracy (2016), we become aware of rational ignorance about politics and rational irrationality about politics. These two subjects hold considerable weight in Brennan s expression of what it means to be political. Rational ignorance is when the costs of acquiring knowledge surpass the benefits of having that knowledge (Brennan, 2016). In relation to politics, which Brennan exclusively only refers to as voting and not any other political action, rational ignorance is when there is no benefit to learning political matter because you vote will not matter or produce ... • 38. Life In Milan Kundera s The Unbearable Lightness Of Being In The Unbearable Lightness of Being , Milan Kundera informs readers that without the ability to compare our lives to others, we cannot find meaning in our lives, but remain between life s lightness and heaviness. He does this by illustrating the relationships between four characters: Tomas, Tereza, Sabina, and Franz. The novel begins in the year 1968 with Tomas, who is a brilliant surgeon from Prague and a perpetual bachelor. In a small town cafe, he fortuitously met Tereza, who was his waitress; to Tereza, the moment was magical because one of her favorite compositions by Beethoven was playing on the radio and that he enjoyed literature. Tereza evidently followed Tomas to Prague with her life packed within a suitcase and she intended to offer her life to him. The two started living with each other, but Tomas was incapable of terminating his bachelor lifestyle full of mistresses. He tried to hide his infidelity, but Tereza found a letter from one of his mistresses, Sabina. She wrote to Tomas saying, I want to make love to you in my studio. It will be like a stage surrounded by people. The audience won t be allowed up close, but they won t be able to take their eyes off us. (Pg. 16). Tomas confessed and told her that these sexual acts were separate from his love for her. This information marred Tereza s mind; she starting having horrendous nightmares and began contemplating suicide. He then married her, to relieve her of her distress. Yet he still kept his mistresses. Eventually Sabina and Tereza become close friends, but Tereza s jealousy still remained the same. Sabina, Tereza, and Tomas fled to Switzerland due to the Soviet Union inhabiting Czechoslovakia. Tereza left behind her career as a photographer, became unemployed, and had to sit home alone as Tomas continued his affairs. She then began to believe, when the strong were too weak to hurt the weak, the weak have to be strong enough to leave. (Pg. 75). Then, she returned back to Prague. Tomas was enjoying his liberation for a few days, but he gave up and left for Prague. This evidently meant that the couple gave up their freedom because there was no chance that the couple would be allowed to leave again due to the Communist regime. In ... Aristotle lacked the technical and conceptual tools utilized by modern science in his endeavors to explain why something is true instead of the statement that something it is true. Utilizing the Aristotelian invention of syllogism, Aristotle s logic followed that if the premises for an explanation of a phenomena is valid, as is the form, then the conclusion will be that of scientific truth. While Aristotle erred in his findings in many of the various scientific realms, such as a geocentric versus heliocentric solar system, his scientific application of syllogism gave way to modern scientific empiricism which is the idea that an abstract argument must be supported by factual evidence and for the theory to be judged by a tribunal of observation.
