The Effects Of Substance Use Disorder On America s Prison...
Introduction
For the better part of the 20th century, those convicted of crimes and sentenced to serve time in prison,
who also have an addiction have been treated unfairly. Substance use disorder has been viewed as a
disease for decades now, and despite this, this disease is not being treated in America s prison systems
properly. The recent sentencing of Cameron Douglas, son of legendary actor Michael Douglas, to four
and one half years additionally in federal prison has brought this crucial injustice to light. Cameron
was serving a five year sentence for various drug related charge and is an admitted addict of
intravenous cocaine and heroin. Heroin was discovered in the cell he resided in, and in an
unprecedented legal proceeding, Judge Richard Berman gave Cameron the longest sentence on record
for a prisoner found to have drugs while incarcerated. Instead of receiving much needed treatment for
his disorder, Cameron will spend nearly the same amount of time in prison as his original sentence
called for.
The Numbers
Drug use and abuse is not a new problem for America s prison system, and is one which speaks to the
larger issue corrupting the judicial system as a whole. As of 2013, of those prisoners serving at least a
year long sentence, 51 percent (98,200) of them were serving for drug offenses (Carson, 2014). To
contrast the incarcerated with those on probation and parole, some 25 percent (977,662) of the 3.9
million people on probation were charged with drug

The Emergency Management Response Team
Oncor electric is a regulated distribution and transmission business of the private sector and owned by
a limited number of investors. Oncors responsibility is to deliver reliable and safe electricity to the
private sectors, so they can have the power to maintain productivity by keeping the backbone of our
economy (oncor 2012). We are known as the poles and wires infrastructure company, we manage our
business like the private sector does and our company invests in the latest technology and by putting
our employees and customers first. When restoring outages due to large storms or natural disasters we
respond quickly and safely to restore power to the critical infrastructure. Electric service providers are
required to notify the Commission s Emergency Management Response Team (EMRT) to be involved
in the event of a major emergency and natural disaster that occurs such as hurricanes and ice storms
(puc.texas.gov 2009). With the EMRT, they help to coordinate power restoration while communicating
regularly with any affected electric service providers before, during, and after an event. Oncor
immediately brings in their crew and equipment together that is available and will ask for assistance
from other utilities if necessary in their Mutual Assistance Program (oncor 2012). The mutual
assistance programs consist of nine assistance groups in the United States. There are three regional

The Natural Family Planning ( Safe Period )
3 Natural family planning ( safe period):
Natural family planning is one of the most widely utilized means of birth control, espicially for those
whom their religion or their cultural beliefs do not authorize devices or drugs for birth control. This
method includes periodic abstinence, to avoid intercourse during a female s fertile period, which is
around the time of ovulation. Determination of the fertile period involve the calendar method, cervical
mucus method, or the symptothermal method technique.
The calendar method is based on 3 hypotheses as follows: The human ovum can be fertilized only for
approximately 24 hours after ovulation, spermatozoa can maintain their ability of fertilizing for only
48 hours after coitus, and ovulation usually occurs 12 16 days before the onset of the subsequent
menestruation. The menses is recorded for 6 cycles to estimate the fertile period. The earliest day of
the fertile period is calculated by the number of days in the shortest menstrual cycle subtracted by 18.
The latest day of the fertile period is assessed by the number of days in the longest cycle subtracted by

Challenges And Impacts Of Robots
Manufacturing After watching these three videos, it really opens your eyes to how big these
companies and manufactures really are. I was blown away by the factory in China, that people were
raised to go to the factories school, to learn how to make iron s, expresso machine, and electric grills.
Q: Are robots the answer to run a shop in the United States to keep costs down? I am on the fence with
this question. I am back and forth because it would make sense to have AI s and robots of the sorts
taking jobs in the United State, mainly because they are cheaper and sometimes easier to deal with.

Q: What is your opinion on living and working in a city essentially designed just for that? Watching
the Made in China: Factory of the World ; that really opened my eyes. I knew that Nike has/had
sweatshops in Asia where they would make they re workers work for very low wages in terrible
conditions, but I never really thought about all the products that are made in china were made like this.
To me, I sort of see it as slavery almost. That would be a horrible life to grow up and know what you
must do with your life, to get by. It would be a rough life, to do one job for the rest of your life, just so
repetitive. I like new things, new routes, new people, because it keeps me in tune with the things going

has a very bad code of ethics, and they all about the money. They need to step up and join UNI, to
have better and more safe manufacturing building with safer warehouses. They should put their
employees at such a risk, and they should set a higher pay for all their employees. They make enough
money to fix these problems, so, why don t they? I think if Walmart keep acting so selfish, people
around the world will start to notice and act anyway they can and will eventually really start to ruin
the Walmart reputation and they will go downhill. Q: What will unionizing Walmart do to the pricing

Mexican Cartels And Its Effects On America
Since the 1900 s Mexico has been run by several drug cartels, and leaders. These drug cartels have
been increasing their territory, murder tolls, and power. The cartels have started to take over the
government and Mexico has been becoming known as a lost state. Drug cartels are rising to power
because of the lack of government, and structure which also brings fear to all the regular citizens
throughout Mexico. Many citizens regularly get murdered for lying to the cartel, informing the
authorities about the cartels, or antagonizing the cartels. Although Mexican drug cartels, or drug
trafficking organizations, have existed for several decades, their influence has increased since the
demise of the Colombian Cali in the 1990s. Mexican drug cartels now dominate the wholesale illicit
drug market and in 2007 controlled 90% of the cocaine entering the United States. Arrests of key
cartel leaders, has led to increasing drug violence as cartels fight for control of the trafficking routes
into the United States. As violence levels rise so do tension levels. Mexico has always been involved
in illegal drug smuggling since the beginning. In the 1980 s Mexico started off aiding the Colombian
organizations in smuggling cocaine into the U.S. Mexico continued to work for the Colombian
organizations, and were paid in cash as well as percentages for some of the cocaine. The
Organizations in Mexico soon became very independent, and powerful enough to begin their own
organizations. Many new

In effect, children see themselves when they interact with other people, as if they are looking in a
mirror. Individuals use the perceptions that others have of them to develop judgments and feelings
about themselves.
2. Taking role of the other
Children pretend to be other people in their play and in so doing learn what these other people expect
of them. Younger children take the role of significant others, or the people, most typically parents and
siblings, who have the most contact with them; older children when they play sports and other games
take on the roles of other people and internalize the expectations of the generalized other, or society
itself.
3. Moral development
Children develop their ability to think and act morally through several stages. If they fail to reach the
conventional stage, in which adolescents realize that their parents and society have rules that should
be followed because they are morally right to follow, they might well engage in harmful behavior.
Whereas boys tend to use formal rules to decide what is right or wrong, girls tend to take personal
relationships into account.

Reflective Essay On Kids Clinical Rotation
This week I started my GI for Kids clinical rotation. I did mostly shadowing on the first couple of
days. While shadowing, I learned Wendy s roles. She sees about average 8 12 patients a day. Her
typical day begins with reviewing her patients chart to monitor their health status, and then she goes to
see them personally and obtain their progress. Lastly, she consults with doctors (the GI doctor who she
works for and patients doctor) regarding the appropriate care that those patients need and order them. I
recognized that documentation takes up a huge part of her time. I am familiar with the hospital setting
since I have been working as a RN for the past three years in a hospital. But the awareness of the
different roles I am playing is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And their care is from a more holistic approach. For instance, a patient with necrotic pancreatitis has
been hospitalized for the past three weeks. The mother of the patient has stayed at the beside since the
admission. The mother is a appropriated caregiver and really concerns for her child. Despite the
chronic disease course of the necrotic pancreatitis, Wendy discussed with the mother regarding what
kinds of processes need to be taken place before discharge, such as home health. She believes this will
help to alleviate some stress off from the mother. Wendy did not specify when the patient would be
able to go home, but rather explained what need to be accomplished prior to discharge. I think this is a
appropriate action since it gives the mother an idea of what to expect in ahead. So far, the GI disorders
that I have encountered in this clinical rotation are so different than the ones I saw during my primary
care clinical rotations. Those patients are more complex and acutely ill. I was unfamiliar with many of
these disorders (e.g superior mesenteric artery syndrome) and had to look them up. Beside the various
GI disorders, understand and able to utilize different diagnostic tools and labs to help to make GI
diagnosis is another thing that I hope to accomplish during my clinical time with Wendy. I am looking
forward to next week s clinical

Employee Progress-Based Incentives
Incentives are a great way to motivate employees to partake in wellness initiatives. Employees want to
know that there will be a guaranteed gain for their participation. However, there are a number of laws
and regulations at the federal and state level that impose requirements and regulate the use of financial
incentives in certain types of wellness programs. The reward must be available to all similarly situated
individuals. For instance, Weisberg (2013) explained that the program must allow a reasonable
alternative standard (or waiver of initial standard) for obtaining the reward to any individual for whom
it is unreasonably difficult due to a medical condition, or medically inadvisable, to satisfy the initial
standard. As a result, employers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Steps can include enrolling in a weight management program and reducing body mass index
(Wieczner, 2013). Employers usually give employees about $100 for reaching a healthy weight
(Wieczner, 2013). Employees appreciate progress based incentives because it motivates them to
improve their health instead of being penalized for not meeting a healthy weight. However, employers
should understand that there can be complex reasons why an employee is over weight or obese
therefore, even progress based incentives may not be enough to make an employee reach a healthy
weight. Lastly, employers used targeted incentives to encourage healthy behavior. Employers or
insurance companies crunch employees health risk, claims and other data to offer personalized
wellness programs and incentives to employees (Wieczner, 2013). Incentives typically range from
$100 to $125. The programs are personalized to increase participation among those who will benefit
the most, however some employees may feel personalized interventions are intrusive and compromise
their privacy (Wieczner, 2013). As a result, employers should survey employees before including
targeted incentives in its wellness

Percy s Essay A River Pilot Looks At The Mississippi
Walker Percy s The Loss of a Creature details his idea of what he calls the preformed complex: biases
that people form as a result of experiences created by experts. Experiences such as a tour of the Grand
Canyon, reading a sonnet in a college poetry class, or the dissection of a dogfish in biology class are
all packaged and shaped by experts, according to Percy. Experts do this for sightseers so that they can
better understand experiences the way experts want them to. In Mark Twain s essay A River Pilot
Looks at the Mississippi he examines the perception of the Mississippi from the perspective of the
passengers of the steamboat and the pilots of them. Percy s experts and sightseers seem to be very
similar to Twain s pilots and passengers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Percy, sightseers aim to compare real life experiences with other s experiences that have
influenced their preformed complex. Percy claims that when a sightseer says Why it is every bit as
beautiful as a picture postcard! He feels he has not been cheated (Percy, 47). The sightseers aim to
receive some sort of confirmation that they were not cheated by the experience. The pilots on the river
have a preformed complex about what the significance of each element of the river should be which
causes them to lose sight of the beauty the elements hold. River pilots could feel cheated by the river
if it did not provide any indication of what the conditions were as then the river did not fulfill its duty
to the river pilots. The nature of this relationship is very transactional for both the pilots and the
sightseers: they look for it to be worth some sort of currency and in their case the currency is time.
The time they give to the experience should be well used for somethings that is up to their
expectations. These expectations differ between the pilot and sightseer as the pilot expects information
whereas the sightseer expects a comparison. This relationship is key to both parties understanding and
interpretation of the

Alliances Will Determine The Fate Of The Chickasaw Tribe
Alliances will determine the fate of the Chickasaw tribe. During the Revolutionary war, Payamataha,
the Chickasaw foreign diplomat, decided that maintaining peace and neutrality would better benefit
the tribe and preserve the Chickasaw people and land. With Independence Lost by Kathleen DuVal,
Payamataha decision to stay out of the Revolutionary War and advocate peace led to the defeat of the
British and results in the loss of the Chickasaw land by the Americans. During the Seven Years War,
the Chickasaws suffered many casualties and loss of resources while fighting off the French. Due to
the many casualties, Payamataha felt that his strategy of peace would benefit the Chickasaws the most.
However, Payamataha did not anticipate that the alliance with the British would affect the Americans
view; no matter how minuscule the Chickasaws actions were.
The Chickasaws made many mistakes during the Revolutionary War. Although Payamataha made
resolutions of maintaining peace, the Chickasaws still made an alliance with the British without
making the intentions clear. Despite the alliance, the Chickasaw did everything possible to stay out of
the war while still staying on the good side of the British. While reassuring the British of the alliance
in Mobile, Payamataha used his time to secure peace with other Indian Nations such as the Creeks,
Choctaws, Cherokees, and Quapaws. In 1777 Payamataha sent a commission across the Mississippi to

Hydraulic Fracturing In Michigan, The Great Lake State
Michigan, the Great Lake state. Michigan is quite unique among the states for it touches four of the
five great lakes, hence the nickname the great lakes state. Michigan has over 12,000 lakes, and more
shoreline than any other state besides Alaska. you re never more than six miles from a lake (), making
it easy to see why Michigan has a thriving recreational industry. Blue water, sandy shores and
towering sand dunes make this state truly special. Hydraulic Fracturing, or Fracking threatens to take
away what makes this state so special. Fracking provides short term benefits and is a much cleaner
alternative to coal, but has negative long term impacts. The First is that fracking uses huge amounts of
water. Every time a well is fracked, millions of gallons of water are removed from the Great Lakes
hydrological cycle forever. Secondly is the worry that potentially dangerous chemicals used may
escape and pollute the air and contaminate groundwater causing a number of environmental and health
hazards. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Brief Biography of William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare, the man of many artistic talents, is still quite a mysterious figure in today s
world, mainly because of the lack of records on this man; but also because of his writings. According
to what little the Holy Trinity Church had documented on William Shakespeare, the legal and business
transactions including some theatrical and Court documents as well as his life s work, can be used to
put the little bits of information given to us to see the basic overview of this man s life, use it to see
the Globe Theater where he worked as a playwright and an actor, as well as what the Elizabethan Era
that he lived in was like.
Elizabethan England Era, or the Golden Age in England, started in 1558 when Queen Elizabeth
succeeded her Catholic sister Mary I and re established the Protestant Anglican Church. During this
Era William Shakespeare was born in Stratford upon Avon on April 23, 1564 to a John Shakespeare, a
glover and leather merchant, and Mary Arden, a landed local heiress. Three days later, on April 26,
1564 William Shakespeare was baptized in the Holy Trinity Church. William Shakespeare was the
third oldest out of the eight children born into the Shakespeare s family. In the 1570 s during the
excommunication of Queen Elizabeth 1 from the Catholic Church, Shakespeare s fathers lost most of
his money.
With the loss of their fortune, Shakespeare s father s job as a Stratford official would have been able to
give William a waiver of tuition; which would explain

Maxim In The Wagon Mound
1. The main purpose of the maxim is to avoid injustice to the plaintiff as otherwise the plaintiff would
be required to prove the details of the cause of the accident, which he may not know. As stated by NH
Chan JCA in Teoh Guat Looi v Ng Hong Guan, res ipsa loquitur was in essence no more than a
common sense approach to the effect of the evidence in certain circumstances. It means that a plaintiff
prima facie establishes negligence where it is not possible for him to prove precisely how the accident
happened, but on the evidence as it stands, he manages to show that the accident could not have
happened without the negligence on the part of the defendant.
One important requirement is that the damage or injury which has occurred must give rise to the
presumption that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No. Because before The Wagon Mound, the court was in favour of the direct consequence test which
can be seen in Re Polemis and Furness, Withy Co Ltd. However, the test rests on the fault principle
rather than compensation , whereby once a person is established to have committed a tort, he has to
bear all the losses that arises as a consequence thereof. Consequently, the court uses the reasonable
foresight test in The Wagon Mound, as the Privy Council ruled that Re Polemis should not be
considered good law.
4. The Wagon Mound is the accepted test in Malaysia, approved in the case of Government of
Malaysia v Jumat bin Mahmud Ors.

The Black Cat Meaning
Darkness lives within each of us. It lurks inside the deep, obscure abyss of our hearts. To escape the
judgment and belittlement of others, we conceal our true inner selves in which the iniquity hides. As
the storyteller states in The Black Cat , initially, he buried his mental monster underneath kindness and
humanity. In fact, the narrator declares, From my infancy I was noted for the docility and humanity of
my disposition. My tenderness of heart was even so conspicuous as to make me the jest of my
companions (Baym and Levine 718). However, through the instrumentality of the Fiend

However, this does not last long. In another burst of pure rage, the murderer attempts to strike the cat,
but his wife stops him, and his loyalty shifts as quickly as a flash of lightning. He withdrew [his] arm
from her grasp and buried the axe in her brain (723). Frankly, the narrator s wife seemed as if she was
most likely frail and withdrawn. Therefore, it was not as if she had the ability or inclination to attack
her husband in any way, so the narrator s immediate reaction was in no way self defense. In other
words, he had no reason to accidentally kill his innocent wife. Moreover, after the completion of the
deed, he did not immediately run to the police, yelling, I killed my wife! I killed my wife! He actually
deposited the body against the inner wall of a cellar (723)! Yet, in order to possess intent, one must
have a motive. Well, what exactly was the author s motive? Perhaps, his motive lay in the fact that he
wanted to be alone with no responsibilities and no morals. Although the passage does not directly state
this notion, it indicates that his wife stood on the foundation of right and wrong and that she
represented what he no longer had nor wanted morality.
Thus, to rid himself of something he had thrown away a long time ago, the narrator purposely
murdered his wife in The Black Cat . His

Nemesis Istomin Research Paper
Whoooooosh! If you listened closely enough early Wednesday morning, you may have heard Andy
Murray s sigh of relief in the distance. Murray s nemesis and world No. 2 Novak Djokovic was

The Djoker has ruled the tournament Down Under, holding six titles and winning five of the last six

Him playing this well, I mean, it s amazing, Djokovic said via The New York Times. He played
obviously above his level. You got to give him credit for that. Many things came together for him
today. He s a well deserved winner.
As well as Istomin played and as well as Djokovic acknowledged it, Djokovic losing in the second
round is the real story. The most interesting comments after the match came from Djokovic s former
coach, Boris

Liberty Bell
The Liberty Bell, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is an American bell of great historic
significance. The Liberty Bell is perhaps one of the most prominent symbols associated with the
American Revolution and the American Revolutionary War. It is one of the most familiar symbols of
independence, abolition of slavery, nationhood and freedom within the United States, and has been
used as an international icon of liberty. [1]
Its most famous ringing, on July 8, 1776, summoned citizens of Philadelphia for the reading of the
Declaration of Independence. Previously, it had been rung to announce the opening of the First
Continental Congress in 1774 and after the Battle of Lexington and Concord in 1775.
The Liberty Bell was known as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inscribed are the names of John Pass and John Stow, together with city and date, along the inscription
Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof—Lev. XXV, v. x. By order of
the Assembly of the Province of Pensylvania for the State House in Philad. (The spelling Pensylvania
was an accepted variant at the time.)
[edit] 19th century history, repair and crack
During the 19th century, the bell tolled at the death of Alexander Hamilton (1804), Lafayette s return
to Philadelphia (1824), the deaths of Adams and Jefferson (1826), Washington s 100th birthday
celebration (1832) and the deaths of Lafayette (1834), John Marshall (1835) and William Henry
Harrison (1841). [4]
In 1839, William Lloyd Garrison s anti slavery publication The Liberator reprinted a Boston
abolitionist pamphlet containing a poem about the Bell, entitled, The Liberty Bell, which represents
the first known usage (in print) of the name, Liberty Bell. [4]
It is not certain when the second crack appeared (the first after the recastings), but the bell was
repaired in February 1846. The method of repair, known as stop drilling, required drilling along the
hairline crack so that the sides of the fracture would not reverberate.
On February 22, 1846, the bell was tolled for several hours in the tower of Independence Hall in honor
of George Washington s birthday.[5] When the bell was rung,

Apple Is An Extremely Reputable Company
Apple is an extremely reputable company with many great technologies that many people throughout
the world enjoy. They have advanced quite a bit since their beginning Macintosh computers a long
time ago, and now sell smartphones and tablets, along with their own programs and software. Apple
offers purchases on their devices through their programs such as iTunes and the App Store, however
they always required a password in order to buy the product. One of their slightly new programs,
iCloud, offers more freedom when trying to access stored data and passwords. With iCloud,
everything a user inputs on their Apple device gets stored into the cloud, something that has become
very popular even outside of Apple. With all of this personal data floating around, privacy and security
questions begin to rise, and especially when certain incidents happen that stirs and worries everybody
up. Apple s iCloud software, while conveniently storing and sharing data, has been proven to be
accessible by unwanted third parties. To hack into user s accounts can be very simple through
techniques like manipulating usernames and passwords through brute force or finding the IP address
of the device that accessed the cloud. While these may all seem like difficult things to accomplish to
any basic user of Apple s technology, there are some that have the skill to breach and gain whatever
they wish. Internet protocol (IP) addresses are what s used to identify users through the Internet, and

Obama s Speech Ethos Pathos Logos
A1: The three elements to effective arguments making under Aristotle s Rhetorical Triangle model are
ethos, pathos and logos. According to Jimmie Killingsworth (2005), the three elements share a
metaphorically spatial relationship to one another . An effective persuasion normally takes all of the
three elements into account, with sorts of evidences in Barack Obama s speeches.
Firstly, logos refers to the persuasion realized through reasoning, which is deemed as the core of
argumentation. To be specific, facts, data, the quotation of the authorities and the citation of scholars
serve as the proof of the credibility of speakers or writers. In Obama s victory speech in 2008, the

Nt1310 Data Link Layer
The Data link layer [also called layer 2] is responsible for moving a message from one computer or
network device to the next computer or network device in the overall path from sender or receiver. It
controls the way messages are sent on the physical media. Both the sender and receiver have to agree
on the rules or protocols that govern how they will communicate with each other. A data link protocol
determines who can transmit at what time, where a message begins and ends, and how a receiver
recognizes and corrects a transmission error.
The data link layer performs two main functions, and therefore is often divided into two sublayers.
Logical link control [LLC] sublayer The first sublayer is the data link layer s connection to the
network layer above it. At the sending computer, the LLC sublayer software is responsible for

The MAC sublayer software at the sending computer controls how and when the physical layer
converts bits into the physical symbols that are sent down the circuit. At the receiving computer, the
MAC sublayer software takes the data link layer PDU from the LLC sublayer, converts it into a stream
of bits, and controls when the physical layer actually transmits the bits over the circuit. At the
receiving computer, the MAC sublayer receives a stream of bits from the physical layer and translates
it into a coherent PDU, ensures that no errors have occurred in transmission, and passes the data link
layer PDU to the LLC sublayer.
Both the sender and receiver have to agree on the rules or protocols that govern how their data link

Controls when computers transmit (media access control)
Detects and corrects transmission errors (error control)

Leadership Qualities Of Fice Manager Essay
Unfortunately, at my current place of work I have experienced numerous negative leadership traits.
The owner is fantastic but the office manager he has placed in power is less than agreeable. The office
manager lacks the appropriate leadership skills because he is a very negative individual. He
consistently speaks unkindly to employees, never follows through, is very lazy and is quite frankly
unknowledgeable. He does not know how to lead people but only how to shove them toward the
ground. He lacks basic communication skills, attacks before asking questions and never places his
employees needs before his own. He does not understand the underlying link between happiness and
productivity (p. 88). Thus, most employees at my office would speak negatively about their
experience in the office. However, I also have fatal leadership flaws. I get too emotional when
frustrated. I do not express this with tears or sadden but rather a bad attitude. It is a flaw that I am
continuously working on. I unfortunately wear my emotions on my sleeves. Thus, when I am unhappy
often times everyone knows it and this is not a good thing.
Fortunately, I have exhibited good leadership before at work. I am a problem solver and an
encourager. When we facing difficulties at with a particular project and employees start to feel down, I
reaffirm their great work ethic on a personal level. Our accounts were all getting disapproved,
Facebook was flagging everything for no apparent reason. Everyone was

Promoting A New Rice Wine
To promote a new rice wine I have created a 60 second commercial where the enlightened Zen master
Ikkyū uses the five basic categories of sabi, wabi, aware, yugen, and ma to demonstrate the kosher of
this new product. Ikkyū was used due to his notoriety for his infusion of Japanese art and literature
with Zen attitudes and ideals. Ikkyū s significance and understanding of Zen culture made him the
perfect candidate to conduct a tea ceremony to demonstrate the quality and spiritualness of the new
rice wine.
The commercial will begin with a panning shot of a rock pathway leading to a teahouse. In the
background of the panning shot will be the rock garden that faces east. The tea ceremony will be
taking place at sunrise so that the sun will be rising over the rock garden. During this shot, the
sonorous and melancholy chirping of birds will be used to evoke a peaceful but sad emotion. Together
the birds and sun will symbolize the beautiful but fragile and ephemeral nature of life, whereby the
birds enchanting songs at the start of the day will be silenced by the sun s setting at the end of the day.
The panning shot will end at the doorframe and the camera shot will assume an angle from which the
viewer will feel that he/she is the one taking part in the tea ceremony. By using cinematography, in
particular the anonymity creates a will to produce the idea of standing between being and non being.
The doorframe will present a sense of space and emptiness. Beside the

Fair Credit Reporting Act And Credit History
Fair Credit Reporting Act/Credit History
The Fair Credit Reporting Act was established in 1970. This act is in accordance on how a credit
agency reports credit information. The Fair Credit Reporting Act serves to protect the privacy and
integrity of clients. It allows individuals to adjust any inaccurate information in a credit report and
provides a solution if a credit agency violates your rights. According to the Privacy Rights
Clearinghouse (2014), anyone with a legitimate business need can gain access to your credit history.

This information helps determine if the tenant is likely to pay their bills on time. Finding a job is an
advantage to having a good credit record. Employers have the option to look at an applicant s credit
history to decide whether or not that person is reliable. If an employment agency is checking a credit
report they usually check it for fraudulent activity. Other company s check for derogatory information.
If those types of things are found then the applicant may have some explaining to do. Not every job
looks at credit history. However, some jobs do such as, accounting, finance, or a high ranking position
in a company. A person with good credit history shows if this person is responsible and if that person
is able to be trusted with their finances. On the other hand, there are certain drawbacks of having a
credit record on file. Some offenses to a credit record are minor and others are major. Bankruptcy is a
case where a consumer is unable to pay outstanding debts. According to Investopedia (2001), Upon
the successful completion of bankruptcy proceedings, the debtor is relieved of the debt obligations

History of the world in 6 glasses
A History of the World in 6 Glasses Section 1: Beer: Beer was not invented, it was discovered. Exactly
when the first beer was brewed is unknown but there was almost certainly no beer before 10,000 BCE.
The rise of beer was closely associated with the domestication of the cereal grains rom which it is
made and the adoption of farming. Beer originated in the Fertile Crescent in Egypt and Mesopotamia.
To beer drinkers in the Neolithic period, beer s ability to intoxicate and induce a state of altered
consciousness seemed magical. This caused them to believe beer was a gift from the Gods. Since it
was a gift from the gods, it was presented as a religious offering in religious ceremonies, agricultural
fertility rites, and in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tea: Tea began as a luxury drink, and then trickled down to become the beverage of the working man.
The story of tea is the story of imperialism, industrialization, and world domination. According to
Chinese tradition, the first cup of tea was brewed by the emperor Shen Nung. Before tea was a
beverage, it was used for medicinal purposes and foodstuff. Tea became a daily drink in China around
the third century A.D. As the Industrial Revolution of 18th and 19th centuries gained steam, tea
provided some of the fuel. Factory workers stayed alert during long, monotonous shifts thanks to
welcome tea breaks. The beverage also had unintended health benefits for rapidly growing urban
areas. Chewing leaves and rubbing them on wounds were ways that tea was used for medicinal
purposes. Coca Cola In May 1886 John Pemberton invented a drink, Coca Cola, by accidentally
stumbling on the right combination of ingredients while trying to devise a cure for headaches.
Pemberton was an experienced maker of patient medicines, which were hugely popular in America in
the late nineteenth century. The name was coined by one of Pemberton s business associates, Frank
Robinson. He also contributed to the promotion of the drink by sending out tickets for free samples
and putting up posters and banners that read Drink Coca Cola, 5c. Robinson also developed the
famous logo for Coca Cola, which appeared in newspaper

The Keystone Xl Pipeline Is A Proposed Expansion Of The...
The Keystone XL pipeline is a proposed expansion of the current Keystone pipeline that would cover
over 1,700 miles from Alberta, Canada to the Gulf Coast of Texas. The purpose of the pipeline is for
the transport of extracted tar sands from Canada to the Gulf Coast refineries and ports for export. The
proposed pipeline would cross 1,073 rivers, lakes, streams, and the Ogallala aquifer. The Ogallala
aquifer is one of the largest in the world. It provides two million people with drinking water and more
than a quarter of America s agriculture with water for irrigation. There would be a large ecological
impact, affecting communities and destroying habitats. Building Keystone XL would add 27.4 million
metric tons of carbon pollution to the atmosphere per year, adding to the global climate change
dilemma. Aside from the damage as a result of constructing the pipeline, oil spills cause contamination
and are costly to cleanup. The company proposing the expansion, TransCanada, has stated that
thousands of jobs would be created. In fact the project would only create thirty five permanent jobs
with the remainder consisting of temporary or contract work ( Stop Keystone, n.d.). The production of
tar sands oil produces emissions that are three to four times higher than conventional oil. This is in
part due to the large amount of energy required in the extraction and refining of the oil. Large
quantities of heat, water, and chemicals are used to separate bitumen from sand, silt, and

Lamb To The Slaughter And The Open Window
Compare and Contrast Essay The short stories written by Saki called The Open Window and The
Lamb of the Slaughter written by Roald Dahl are two great and amazing stories. While some
differences between Mary Maloney from Lamb to the Slaughter and Vera Sappleton from The Open
Window, the similarities are salient. The similarities between the two plots of the stories both involve
a female who is the antagonist and who have both done something bad. The character Mary Maloney
and Vera Sappleton are similar because they both did something wrong and they are both the one ones
who know what they did. Also, they both know how to lie and manipulate other people into believing
whatever it is they want them to believe. The themes are similar in such ... Show more content on

Mary Maloney is pregnant and is married and lives with her husband while Vera is only fifteen years
old and is living with her aunt. In Lamb to the Slaughter, one of the themes is betrayal for Patrick
Maloney to leave his wife and his unborn baby without knowing why. But the ultimate betrayal comes
from Mary for killing her husband. In The Open Window another theme is appearance as reality. The
point of this theme is that what an individual perceives becomes his reality. Framton Nuttel (a new
neighbor) was expecting to see three ghosts come through the window, so when he saw the three men
coming towards the house, he could not get out of there any faster. The conflict in The Open Window
is Vera tricking Mr. Nuttel to believe he has seen three ghosts, when in fact he has not. The conflict in
Lamb to the Slaughter is Mary killing her husband because he wanted to leave her and getting away
with it. The spiritual lesson in Lamb to the slaughter is Mary breaking one of the Ten Commandments
by committing murder. In The Open Window Vera also broke one of the Ten Commandments by

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallow Essay
Tell the truth! Every person has made this remark. Realistically, each person has their own perception
of truth. Truth defined according to Webster Dictionary as that which is true or in accordance with fact
or reality. Based on knowledge of the person at that specific time, truth is defined; therefore, truth may
vary for different people. Throughout Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow, the characters Albus
Dumbledore, Severus Snape, and Harry Potter attend to truth. In the novel, Albus Dumbledore has his
own way of defining truth. Dumbledore sees truth through the big picture. He shares enough
knowledge to give hints about how to find the truth, but not enough information to state the truth. In
the novel, Minister for Magic Rufus Scrimgeour personally delivers Dumbledore s bequests to Harry,
Ron and Hermione. This is very unusual for him to come in person. Dumbledore left Ron a
deluminator, Hermione the Tales of Beedle the Bard, and Harry a snitch and the sword of Gryffindor
(which was not his to give). Scrimgeous then questions each about the importance of each object. The
Ministry of Magic is especially suspicious why this amazing wizard left the objects for these three
students out of everyone. What the Ministry of Magic or these three did not know at the time was each
had a hint that would help them later. Albus Dumbledore shares enough knowledge so the other
characters can find the truth for themselves. By doing so, Dumbledore shows them what they need in a

  • 4. The Effects Of Substance Use Disorder On America s Prison... Introduction For the better part of the 20th century, those convicted of crimes and sentenced to serve time in prison, who also have an addiction have been treated unfairly. Substance use disorder has been viewed as a disease for decades now, and despite this, this disease is not being treated in America s prison systems properly. The recent sentencing of Cameron Douglas, son of legendary actor Michael Douglas, to four and one half years additionally in federal prison has brought this crucial injustice to light. Cameron was serving a five year sentence for various drug related charge and is an admitted addict of intravenous cocaine and heroin. Heroin was discovered in the cell he resided in, and in an unprecedented legal proceeding, Judge Richard Berman gave Cameron the longest sentence on record for a prisoner found to have drugs while incarcerated. Instead of receiving much needed treatment for his disorder, Cameron will spend nearly the same amount of time in prison as his original sentence called for. The Numbers Drug use and abuse is not a new problem for America s prison system, and is one which speaks to the larger issue corrupting the judicial system as a whole. As of 2013, of those prisoners serving at least a year long sentence, 51 percent (98,200) of them were serving for drug offenses (Carson, 2014). To contrast the incarcerated with those on probation and parole, some 25 percent (977,662) of the 3.9 million people on probation were charged with drug ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Natural Family Planning ( Safe Period ) 3 Natural family planning ( safe period): Natural family planning is one of the most widely utilized means of birth control, espicially for those whom their religion or their cultural beliefs do not authorize devices or drugs for birth control. This method includes periodic abstinence, to avoid intercourse during a female s fertile period, which is around the time of ovulation. Determination of the fertile period involve the calendar method, cervical mucus method, or the symptothermal method technique. The calendar method is based on 3 hypotheses as follows: The human ovum can be fertilized only for approximately 24 hours after ovulation, spermatozoa can maintain their ability of fertilizing for only 48 hours after coitus, and ovulation usually occurs 12 16 days before the onset of the subsequent menestruation. The menses is recorded for 6 cycles to estimate the fertile period. The earliest day of the fertile period is calculated by the number of days in the shortest menstrual cycle subtracted by 18. The latest day of the fertile period is assessed by the number of days in the longest cycle subtracted by 11. * Efficacy: The failure rate in typical utilization is estimated to be approximately 25%. * Advantages: No adverse effects from hormones occur. This may be the only method acceptable to couples for cultural or religious beliefs. Immediate return to fertility occurs with termination of utilization. * Disadvantages: This is most suitable for female with standard and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I was blown away by the factory in China, that people were raised to go to the factories school, to learn how to make iron s, expresso machine, and electric grills. Q: Are robots the answer to run a shop in the United States to keep costs down? I am on the fence with this question. I am back and forth because it would make sense to have AI s and robots of the sorts taking jobs in the United State, mainly because they are cheaper and sometimes easier to deal with. • 8. Mexican Cartels And Its Effects On America Since the 1900 s Mexico has been run by several drug cartels, and leaders. These drug cartels have been increasing their territory, murder tolls, and power. The cartels have started to take over the government and Mexico has been becoming known as a lost state. Drug cartels are rising to power because of the lack of government, and structure which also brings fear to all the regular citizens throughout Mexico. Many citizens regularly get murdered for lying to the cartel, informing the authorities about the cartels, or antagonizing the cartels. Although Mexican drug cartels, or drug trafficking organizations, have existed for several decades, their influence has increased since the demise of the Colombian Cali in the 1990s. Mexican drug cartels now dominate the wholesale illicit drug market and in 2007 controlled 90% of the cocaine entering the United States. Arrests of key cartel leaders, has led to increasing drug violence as cartels fight for control of the trafficking routes into the United States. As violence levels rise so do tension levels. Mexico has always been involved in illegal drug smuggling since the beginning. In the 1980 s Mexico started off aiding the Colombian organizations in smuggling cocaine into the U.S. Mexico continued to work for the Colombian organizations, and were paid in cash as well as percentages for some of the cocaine. She sees about average 8 12 patients a day. Her typical day begins with reviewing her patients chart to monitor their health status, and then she goes to see them personally and obtain their progress. Lastly, she consults with doctors (the GI doctor who she works for and patients doctor) regarding the appropriate care that those patients need and order them. For instance, a patient with necrotic pancreatitis has been hospitalized for the past three weeks. The mother of the patient has stayed at the beside since the admission. The mother is a appropriated caregiver and really concerns for her child. Despite the chronic disease course of the necrotic pancreatitis, Wendy discussed with the mother regarding what kinds of processes need to be taken place before discharge, such as home health. She believes this will help to alleviate some stress off from the mother. Wendy did not specify when the patient would be able to go home, but rather explained what need to be accomplished prior to discharge. I think this is a appropriate action since it gives the mother an idea of what to expect in ahead. So far, the GI disorders that I have encountered in this clinical rotation are so different than the ones I saw during my primary care clinical rotations. Those patients are more complex and acutely ill. I was unfamiliar with many of these disorders (e.g superior mesenteric artery syndrome) and had to look them up. Employees want to know that there will be a guaranteed gain for their participation. However, there are a number of laws and regulations at the federal and state level that impose requirements and regulate the use of financial incentives in certain types of wellness programs. The reward must be available to all similarly situated individuals. For instance, Weisberg (2013) explained that the program must allow a reasonable alternative standard (or waiver of initial standard) for obtaining the reward to any individual for whom it is unreasonably difficult due to a medical condition, or medically inadvisable, to satisfy the initial standard. Employers usually give employees about $100 for reaching a healthy weight (Wieczner, 2013). Employees appreciate progress based incentives because it motivates them to improve their health instead of being penalized for not meeting a healthy weight. However, employers should understand that there can be complex reasons why an employee is over weight or obese therefore, even progress based incentives may not be enough to make an employee reach a healthy weight. Lastly, employers used targeted incentives to encourage healthy behavior. Employers or insurance companies crunch employees health risk, claims and other data to offer personalized wellness programs and incentives to employees (Wieczner, 2013). Incentives typically range from $100 to $125. The programs are personalized to increase participation among those who will benefit the most, however some employees may feel personalized interventions are intrusive and compromise their privacy (Wieczner, 2013). • 13. Percy s Essay A River Pilot Looks At The Mississippi Walker Percy s The Loss of a Creature details his idea of what he calls the preformed complex: biases that people form as a result of experiences created by experts. Experiences such as a tour of the Grand Canyon, reading a sonnet in a college poetry class, or the dissection of a dogfish in biology class are all packaged and shaped by experts, according to Percy. Experts do this for sightseers so that they can better understand experiences the way experts want them to. According to Percy, sightseers aim to compare real life experiences with other s experiences that have influenced their preformed complex. Percy claims that when a sightseer says Why it is every bit as beautiful as a picture postcard! He feels he has not been cheated (Percy, 47). The sightseers aim to receive some sort of confirmation that they were not cheated by the experience. The pilots on the river have a preformed complex about what the significance of each element of the river should be which causes them to lose sight of the beauty the elements hold. River pilots could feel cheated by the river if it did not provide any indication of what the conditions were as then the river did not fulfill its duty to the river pilots. The nature of this relationship is very transactional for both the pilots and the sightseers: they look for it to be worth some sort of currency and in their case the currency is time. The time they give to the experience should be well used for somethings that is up to their expectations. During the Revolutionary war, Payamataha, the Chickasaw foreign diplomat, decided that maintaining peace and neutrality would better benefit the tribe and preserve the Chickasaw people and land. With Independence Lost by Kathleen DuVal, Payamataha decision to stay out of the Revolutionary War and advocate peace led to the defeat of the British and results in the loss of the Chickasaw land by the Americans. During the Seven Years War, the Chickasaws suffered many casualties and loss of resources while fighting off the French. Due to the many casualties, Payamataha felt that his strategy of peace would benefit the Chickasaws the most. However, Payamataha did not anticipate that the alliance with the British would affect the Americans view; no matter how minuscule the Chickasaws actions were. The Chickasaws made many mistakes during the Revolutionary War. Although Payamataha made resolutions of maintaining peace, the Chickasaws still made an alliance with the British without making the intentions clear. Despite the alliance, the Chickasaw did everything possible to stay out of the war while still staying on the good side of the British. While reassuring the British of the alliance in Mobile, Payamataha used his time to secure peace with other Indian Nations such as the Creeks, Choctaws, Cherokees, and Quapaws. • 18. A Brief Biography of William Shakespeare William Shakespeare, the man of many artistic talents, is still quite a mysterious figure in today s world, mainly because of the lack of records on this man; but also because of his writings. According to what little the Holy Trinity Church had documented on William Shakespeare, the legal and business transactions including some theatrical and Court documents as well as his life s work, can be used to put the little bits of information given to us to see the basic overview of this man s life, use it to see the Globe Theater where he worked as a playwright and an actor, as well as what the Elizabethan Era that he lived in was like. Elizabethan England Era, or the Golden Age in England, started in 1558 when Queen Elizabeth succeeded her Catholic sister Mary I and re established the Protestant Anglican Church. During this Era William Shakespeare was born in Stratford upon Avon on April 23, 1564 to a John Shakespeare, a glover and leather merchant, and Mary Arden, a landed local heiress. Three days later, on April 26, 1564 William Shakespeare was baptized in the Holy Trinity Church. William Shakespeare was the third oldest out of the eight children born into the Shakespeare s family. In the 1570 s during the excommunication of Queen Elizabeth 1 from the Catholic Church, Shakespeare s fathers lost most of his money. With the loss of their fortune, Shakespeare s father s job as a Stratford official would have been able to give William a waiver of tuition; which would explain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Maxim In The Wagon Mound 1. The main purpose of the maxim is to avoid injustice to the plaintiff as otherwise the plaintiff would be required to prove the details of the cause of the accident, which he may not know. As stated by NH Chan JCA in Teoh Guat Looi v Ng Hong Guan, res ipsa loquitur was in essence no more than a common sense approach to the effect of the evidence in certain circumstances. It means that a plaintiff prima facie establishes negligence where it is not possible for him to prove precisely how the accident happened, but on the evidence as it stands, he manages to show that the accident could not have happened without the negligence on the part of the defendant. One important requirement is that the damage or injury which has occurred must give rise to the presumption that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Wagon Mound is the accepted test in Malaysia, approved in the case of Government of Malaysia v Jumat bin Mahmud Ors. 5. To escape the judgment and belittlement of others, we conceal our true inner selves in which the iniquity hides. As the storyteller states in The Black Cat , initially, he buried his mental monster underneath kindness and humanity. In fact, the narrator declares, From my infancy I was noted for the docility and humanity of my disposition. My tenderness of heart was even so conspicuous as to make me the jest of my companions (Baym and Levine 718). In another burst of pure rage, the murderer attempts to strike the cat, but his wife stops him, and his loyalty shifts as quickly as a flash of lightning. He withdrew [his] arm from her grasp and buried the axe in her brain (723). Frankly, the narrator s wife seemed as if she was most likely frail and withdrawn. Therefore, it was not as if she had the ability or inclination to attack her husband in any way, so the narrator s immediate reaction was in no way self defense. In other words, he had no reason to accidentally kill his innocent wife. Moreover, after the completion of the deed, he did not immediately run to the police, yelling, I killed my wife! I killed my wife! He actually deposited the body against the inner wall of a cellar (723)! Yet, in order to possess intent, one must have a motive. Well, what exactly was the author s motive? Perhaps, his motive lay in the fact that he wanted to be alone with no responsibilities and no morals. Although the passage does not directly state this notion, it indicates that his wife stood on the foundation of right and wrong and that she represented what he no longer had nor wanted morality. Thus, to rid himself of something he had thrown away a long time ago, the narrator purposely murdered his wife in The Black Cat . His ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Murray s nemesis and world No. 2 Novak Djokovic was defeated in the second round of the Australian Open. The Djoker has ruled the tournament Down Under, holding six titles and winning five of the last six finals at the event. Many, myself included, believed that Djokovic s return to the Grand Slam he has been most successful at would right his mental ship and return him to his championship form. The owner is fantastic but the office manager he has placed in power is less than agreeable. The office manager lacks the appropriate leadership skills because he is a very negative individual. He consistently speaks unkindly to employees, never follows through, is very lazy and is quite frankly unknowledgeable. He does not know how to lead people but only how to shove them toward the ground. He lacks basic communication skills, attacks before asking questions and never places his employees needs before his own. He does not understand the underlying link between happiness and productivity (p. 88). Thus, most employees at my office would speak negatively about their experience in the office. The Keystone XL pipeline is a proposed expansion of the current Keystone pipeline that would cover over 1,700 miles from Alberta, Canada to the Gulf Coast of Texas. The purpose of the pipeline is for the transport of extracted tar sands from Canada to the Gulf Coast refineries and ports for export. The proposed pipeline would cross 1,073 rivers, lakes, streams, and the Ogallala aquifer. The Ogallala aquifer is one of the largest in the world. It provides two million people with drinking water and more than a quarter of America s agriculture with water for irrigation. There would be a large ecological impact, affecting communities and destroying habitats. Building Keystone XL would add 27.4 million metric tons of carbon pollution to the atmosphere per year, adding to the global climate change dilemma. Aside from the damage as a result of constructing the pipeline, oil spills cause contamination and are costly to cleanup. The company proposing the expansion, TransCanada, has stated that thousands of jobs would be created. In fact the project would only create thirty five permanent jobs with the remainder consisting of temporary or contract work ( Stop Keystone, n.d.). The production of tar sands oil produces emissions that are three to four times higher than conventional oil. Throughout Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow, the characters Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape, and Harry Potter attend to truth. In the novel, Albus Dumbledore has his own way of defining truth.
