Social Construction
For a lot of people, when the word technology is said they picture something related to or of a
computer or cell phone. Not many people think of the technology found in the field of science or the
creation of a modern day car or even what powers the technology they imagine. Even less think of the
individual parts of the artifact that makes up the piece of tech they thought of or just how long this
science of craft has existed and grown. With such an ever expanding and omnipresent force at work to
make humankind more advanced and life simpler, it s not surprising that other fields have sprouted to
examine how technology is shaped. One such examination led to the concept of the social construction
of technology (or SCOT). Advocates of this concept ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It began as a system where you could send a text to one number and it would be broadcasted out to all
of your friends... Then five months after Twitter s launch, an earthquake in San Francisco happened
except this earthquake had people who were experiencing it using Twitter to share their stories, which
led to another group of people who heard about the earthquake using Twitter to get information from a
place they were not in. These were not the only groups of people using Twitter during the earthquake,
but they are the best example of interpretative flexibility. Two groups of people both using the same
app, but for one group it s a means of sharing information and for another it was about collecting that
information and that right there was the basis of Twitter. Closure took hold for a while because even
though the app was still used to communicate with friends, it became more of an information sharing
platform than it used to be. Then, more groups joined and the use of Twitter changed again. The rise of
social media created a new way to interact and soon led groups of investors, celebrities, politicians,
scientists, and even soccer moms to use the site to network, advertise products, educate themselves,
and start important conversations. Twitter was no longer just a place to trade information, it became a
business. And as newer generations of people begin to download Twitter, it will change again.
Currently, the majority of Twitter users are shaping this application by using it as a political platform
to share, stop, and acknowledge injustice. Yet, just a year ago, it was more often than not a place
where people got their first reports of natural disasters, sport scores, celebrity deaths, and spoilers of
popular television shows. It was not a place where you would see people from all types of different
groups fired up over politics and state of the world in the extent as it seen today. And yes, Twitter

Long Term Goals
I have many short and long term goals set for myself. The time frame for short term goals is three to
five years and for long term goals, five to ten years. These time frames give me realistic and
measurable timelines to meet my goals. My short term goals that I have set for myself is to achieve the
best grades I can, receive my minor in psychology, graduate from Auburn by the end of 2018 or
beginning of 2019, do more work/volunteering with animals to gain animal experience hours, possibly
do a yearlong internship after I graduate, and apply for vet school. For the past two years, I have had
the same goals (to become a vet), however, now that I am in college, I am beginning to realize that
there may be other things I am interested in so, my

The Epic of Gilgamesh
What Meets The Eye
In today s day and age, literature and media have ample effect on how our society influences
individuals. Women are perceived as sexual objects, but have the ability to persuade and influence the
male character in literature. The Epic of Gilgamesh portrays the significance ancient Mesopotamian
Literature has made on the social image that women possess pertaining to sexuality and appearances
to the public eye in modern culture. In Gilgamesh, the harlot Shamhat held a reputation proving that
women are only represented in one way. To support this argument, many aspects such as defining the
Male Gaze, heroism, and how women influence the main character, all prove how poorly women are
portrayed in literature and furthermore in modern media and culture. The Epic of Gilgamesh focuses
mainly on the two male protagonists Enkidu and Gilgamesh. Shamhat was later introduced into the
story as a temple prostitute that had the reputation of taming wild beasts (Martin 103). She
domesticates Enkidu into the ways of humankind using seduction, but as the story continues, it shows
how truly important Shamhat s position is in the epic. Shamhat, in her role, is a generous force that
brings knowledge and progress to a strong hero preparing him for the many tribulations ahead. One of
the aspects we fail to recognize in Mesopotamian literature, let alone all literature of the world, is the
heroic roles of women. In Women in the African Epic, Joseph L. Mbele states,

Lady Macbeth Self Destruction
Life exists as a cycle, with a myriad of routes that all ends in the exact same way for everyone. It may
end for some much soon and for others it may be an easier ride; Shakespeare indulges in the hands of
fate, or gambles with notion that one sick move can lead one into a path of destruction.Shakespeare
uses Macbeth to illustrate the whims of human nature. Macbeth exists as a vessel for basic human
emotions; faltering with anguish and alacrity to serve his desires and sense of honor.
In the words of others Macbeth is chronicalized as a inanimate object living through action; following
the blade of his sword. The story begins with King Duncan enchanted with affliction and tales. The
sights of wounds along with the surviving tales deserving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Macbeth is in the prime of his selfishness, willing to sacrifice whatever, or whomever to get whatever
it is he desires, which is relative to the nature of man. Macbeth makes his demands and has proven
throughout the whole play that he is not steadfast and accepting of his desires. His actions show that
add to the idea that one can be an altruistic person but in a moment of hastiness, and the pitch of a few
words, all of one s morality can disappear. In addition humans can be so rash and the first chance a
person gets, that same person would unblinkingly use someone else to get what that person

International Law And Nuclear Weapons
Internationally, nuclear weapons have been an important topic of concern and debate for the past
several decades. The concerns and debates within the international community regarding the
proliferation of nuclear weapons to more sovereign states in the post Cold War era have led to many
international law instruments in attempts to contain these weapons of mass destruction. Treaties such
as the Treaty on the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and the Test Ban Treaty of 1963,
international organizations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and the Korean
Peninsula Energy Development Organization (KEDO), along with United Nations Security Council
resolutions and advisory opinions from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) have all played roles in
attempting to contain and reduce nuclear weapons in the international community. However, have
these treaties, advisory opinions, resolutions, and creation of international organizations been effective
in curtailing sovereign states from obtaining and testing nuclear weapons? This paper will highlight
the relationship between specific instruments of International Law pertaining to nuclear weapons
through a case study of North Korea to show that instruments of International Law in particular, such
as the Korean Peninsula Energy Development Agency (KEDO), the International Atomic Energy
Agency (IAEA), along with United States and United Nations economic restrictions, have been
ineffective at controlling the

Psychological Preparation
Do we the people obey the law? In my opinion its solely because of a 4 letter word: JAIL. If you fail
to obey the law, then you have opened your door right into the door steps and the criminal justice
system. Once arrested they are taken to jail and booked for a court day or even held if the person
cannot obtain bail. Jails serve as the cities our county official detention facility where the inmate shall
not be there in a full year s time. If the person situation declares them to have to exceed more than a
year, then they will be transferred to a prison. This facility hold those who have obtained felony
sentences. There are many impressions that shadow over the image of a criminal, such as the people

Psychological preparation, cultural preparation, and social preparation are all they key terms for the
preparation stages. Psychological Preparation begins when a prisoner crosses a psychological barrier.
The jail experience is a life changing experience; new prisoners became shocked and disorganized
from intro of jail. After time the prisoners seem to somewhat adjust to life of jail. Cultural preparation
comes in of course after the inmate has been there sometime and is introduced to the jail culture.
Being that the prisoners don t have much to do they have no choice but to absorb the culture of jail
leaving inmates to talk. Amongst these prisoners as sated earlier they are categorized such as the petty
hustler, the junkie, the lowrider and more. For the jail that was studied in this book the inmates would
be woken up early in the morning blowing a whistle telling them to rise. They then go eat breakfast
and return to their cells which would stay open for a few hours until the next count, the process is
repeated in the evening as well. Social preparation is not much of a problem as they are all considered
rabbles so they will have something amongst one

Relationship Between The Federal Government And The States
The relationship between the Federal government and the states is well stable. The Federal
government has powers given by the Constitution as well powers or privileges are given to the states
which promotes a balance between the two so that our country is not ruled under one specific party or
group. The question now is that, are the states rights more than well protected in the current
constitution and the political practice. The Constitution is the structure of a political system. It
establishes governmental bodies, grants powers, determines how to select members and impose rules
by which they make the decisions. Therefore, the Constitution can t be changed by ordinary acts of
governmental bodies. Along with the Constitution we have the Articles of Confederation. Under these
Articles congress was a single house where each state had 2 to 7 members but only one vote. They
selected executive judges and military officers as well as having power to make war and peace and
conduct foreign affairs. The ability to have money Congress could borrow and print money, but they
could not collect taxes or enforce laws, precisely it had to rely on the states to provide and enforce.
Articles of Confederation was written to be a framework for the government of the United States, it
established a firm league of friendship among the states rather than a government of the people.
(book) This Virginia plan called for legislature with two houses a lower house chosen by the people of
the states

analog signal processing (ASP) is replaced with digital signal processing (DSP). What is Signal???
Any physical quantity that varies with time or any other independent variable is called signal.
What is signal processing???
Signal processing is concerned with the improvement of quality of a signal that is under observation.
Its particular aim is to reduce noise that will not reduce by the careful design of measurement
system.in signal processing we basically apply some algorithm on analogues and digital signal to
make them higher quality signal as compere to original signal.
Mostly we deal with two following two type of signal processing

My First Year Professional Program Student
As a first year professional program student, I had the opportunity to intern at Winn Dixie at
Crawfordville for three Thursdays starting from September 24th to October 8th for my first
Introductory Pharmacy Practice (IPPE) . I was able to work with two pharmacists, Dr. Kris, a 2004
Florida A M University Pharmacy School Graduate, and Dr. Curtis, from whom I was able to learn the
different perspectives of pharmacy due to his experience in the pharmacy field. Winn Dixie was
founded in 1925 and it employs more than 72,000 associates who serve customers in 663 grocery
stores and 393 in store pharmacies throughout the five southeastern states of Alabama, Florida,
Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi. Winn Dixie Pharmacy has earned the VERIFIED INTERNET
PHARMACY PRACTICE SITES® accreditation through the National Association of Boards of
Pharmacy® (NABP®).They have successfully completed the rigorous accreditation process by
demonstrating the professional operations of the pharmacy, including the maintenance of policies and
procedures that protect the client patient relationship, ensure the appropriate handling of prescription
medications, provide appropriate medication information, and ensure quality pharmacy practices for
their customers. From what I have seen, the Winn Dixie at Crawfordville predominantly serves the
elderly population. Winn Dixie provides tremendous help to their customers through a program called

Recent Advances in the Study of Protein Misfolding Diseases
Protein misfolding diseases include highly debilitating degenerative disorders like Alzheimer s and
Parkinson s diseases. The healthcare and financial burden linked to these pathologies has been steadily
increasing over the past decade. Actually, there is currently no efficient treatment for misfolding
diseases as well as no reliable early diagnostic techniques for them, in most cases. It is known that, in
many cases, the cytotoxic effect of misfolded proteins is exerted through their self assembly into
amyloid like protein aggregates. Unfortunately, the mechanisms responsible for the toxicity of protein
aggregates are still not completely understood. The number of protein targets whose misfolding and
aggregation is being shown to be associated with the onset of pathologic conditions is constantly
increasing. Since the development of degenerative disorders is expected to increase at a similar rate
than life expectancy, it is likely that in the years to come misfolding diseases would become more
common and prevalent than previously thought. We should be prepared to deal with such a dramatic
scenario and join research efforts to understand the molecular mechanism that underlie these
devastating disorders without further delay. In this book, we highlight recent advances in the study of
protein misfolding disorders and their protein targets, but we also describe how different organisms
exploit the amyloid fold for the functional and dynamic assembly of biological structures.

March was a busy month on Harper 2 but that didn t stop Alexis Fregoso. During the month of March
Alexis showed some great leadership by helping other residents on the floor study. Also Alexis was a
great advocate for my St. Patrick s Day event. He helped advertise it by word of mouth to a good
majority of my residents. Alexis has always shown support of my programs and he has nearly attended
every single one. Alexis is such a wonderful asset to my floor and he always brings such a bubbly and
interesting personality. He is great to have ad events especially one s I would like to get more

The Positive Effects Of Retainment
There have been many studies performed in recent years over the effects of retainment. The reasoning
behind why a student is being retained can be a big deciding factor on whether it will end with success
or not. When a child is behind their peers because of age or numerous absences, retainment is an
option for them. At an older level, kids have a higher rate of success than those who have been
retained (Davis School District, 2011). When repeating a grade, they can have success the next year,
and can gain more confidence. However, retainment works best for students when at a young, lower
elementary age. Research has shown that retaining a student can often point them in a negative
direction. Students can experience bad impacts in all areas

Iago Quotes In Othello
Be careful who you trust, the devil was once an angel. (Unknown). Honest Iago, good Iago, many
names for the character who created so much chaos throughout Shakespeare s classic tragedy Othello.
Iago manipulated everyone; he went out of his way to destroy Othello s relationships with
Desdemona, take everything from Rodrigo, and the effort to destroy Cassio.
Othello had much respect towards Iago and put much trust into him. Iago was very good a hiding his
true intentions to take down Othello s relationship.
After some time, to abuse Othello s ear
That he is too familiar with his wife.

Little by little Iago was able to push Othello to the point where he was no longer the person we saw at
the beginning of the play. Othello killed Desdemona because he though Iago was his friend and would
never lie. Iago was a very toxic friend since the start and knew exactly how the story would end
because he had everyone wrapped around his finger.
Rodrigo was another victim that payed for Iago s wrath towards Othello, envy towards Cassio, and
overall greed for money and power, all of which are deadly sins. Iago charmed Rodrigo with the idea
that he could have his one true desire; the fair Desdemona. Iago never cared for Rodrigo and though
he was pathetic as did the audience because he was constantly whiny. Rodrigo was also gullible and
very desperate to win Desdemona s affection. In act 2 scene 3 Rodrigo is very emotional over that fact
he feels he will never get Desdemona because Iago is not giving him results and ends up saying I will
incontinently drown myself. . Iago again out of self need helps Rodrigo so he will not kill himself. The
reason he stops Rodrigo is because he is the source of his money, and he knows he will need him in
the future for his plan. He does end up becoming part of his plan in helping destroy Cassio, but
Rodrigo dies at the hands of Iago so that Iago would look like a hero and the one person who knew his
plan is dead. Iago is a master of manipulation and which lead to Rodrigo ending in a very unfortunate
situation.

The Influence Of Socrates On Virtue And Knowledge
Born circa 469 until 399 B.C.E in Athens, Greece, Socrates was a classical Greek philosopher who is
credited for laying the fundamentals of modern Western philosophy (Routledge, 1999). Socrates is
well known for his iconic trial and execution mainly for his disrespect of the Athenian democracy, his
development of what came to be known as the Socratic method and for his concern of virtue.
However, much of what we know of Socrates is from Plato s writings, as he did not leave any behind.
Socrates ethical theory was focused quite strongly on virtue and knowledge. He was adamant that the
most important goal is not merely surviving or staying alive but living well, not in the sense of wealth
or power, which he criticised the Athenian government of doing so but to live virtuously and justly.
As quoted by Socrates, Virtue is Knowledge . He believed that living virtuously would ultimately lead
to moral excellence and the way to the good life, which would in turn bring Eudemonia (Happiness).
However, what is virtue? As mentioned in Plato s Meno, Socrates himself did not know what virtue is.
Virtue is defined as any behaviour showing high moral standards. Synonyms ... Show more content on

He describes it as a characteristic involving choice, consisting in observing the mean relative to us
which is determined by a rational principle, such as a person of practical wisdom would use to

and deficiency. For example, advertising in media is mainly used to promote and appeal to an
audience of a certain product. Providing information about the product that is sufficient for buyers to
understand the product in terms of function is the mean between releasing it to buyers without
knowledge of its functionality and over exaggerating the product s capabilities in order to attract

Geometry Scholarship Essay
Geometry, why did she take it a year early when she knew too well that she struggled in math? She
was pressured by her parents, teachers recommended her, and her friends expected her to take on the
challenge of geometry as a freshman. It was the first week of high school full of excitement and
confusion. She knew from the start that she would struggle, but could she pull through? Was a passing
grade within her reach? She always had a horrified look on her face during fourth period, for she had
taken notes, done the homework with ease, attended after school tutoring but constantly drew a blank
when exams were announced and taken. Exams read D after D , week after week.
Geometry was the only class she struggled with, all A s in every single other academic class, but
geometry never seemed to get better. Sleepless nights not just studying but drowning herself in the
thought that she may not pass the class. Constantly crying herself to sleep because she knew that if

The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
Coleridge?s Hidden Journal: ?The Rime of the Ancient Mariner? Samuel Taylor Coleridge?s ?Rime of
the Ancient Mariner? is a piece known to many in some vague way or another. An elderly sailor, a
ghostly ship, and the killing of an albatross are all present in many people?s minds, although they may
not entirely know the whole tale. Although well known today, the most activity ?Rime? has seen was
in its beginnings. It has its fair share of praise and criticism, praise given posthumously and criticism
given while Coleridge was alive. Other than criticisms on the actual text, many people claim that
Coleridge borrowed the ideas of others and used them. One must look past the criticisms and negative
reviews on an author?s work in order to truly understand it. This would aid a reader in realizing ?
Rime? is full of religious truths, subtly illustrating Coleridge?s religious opinions. More than this, ?
Rime? is a hidden pathway to Coleridge?s soul, as it allowed him to relieve grief and pain, illustrate
his hopes and dreams, and express his true feelings about his life and the lives of all. Although Samuel
Taylor Coleridge?s ?Rime of the Ancient Mariner? was criticized by many, it was more than a poem
stuffed with borrowed ideas and stitched together with imagination; rather, it was an outlet for
Coleridge, a therapeutical journal which simultaneously brought entertainment to those of his time and
posterity. William Wordsworth, famous poet and close colleague of

Argumentative Essay On Metal Music
Metal music: Noise pollution of today Metal music is a genre of rock music that developed in the late
sixties and early seventies. It is characterized by its loud distorted guitars, dense bass and drum sound
and vigorous vocals. Because of its different and a bit aggressive sound, metal music is not everyone s
cup of tea. Sadly, metal community is often faced with a lot of stereotypical opinions. The most
widespread stereotypical opinion is that all metal songs are about the devil and hell. One more
stereotypical opinion is that all metal songs are just pointless screaming. All these stereotypes are
wrong because metal music has a very wide range of lyrical themes and, next to usual loud songs,
there are also some very nice and emotional ballads. Only problem with metal music is the fact that
this kind of music is often associated with drugs, alcohol and violence. It is true that some metal fans
consume drugs and alcohol, but that does not mean that all fans of metal music should be categorized
as drug addicts and alcoholics because those people s addiction is a result of their bad choices and it
has nothing to do with the music they listen to. Talking about violence is pointless because if you

The Role Of Astrology In Greek Mythology
Astronomy is defined as the study of non Earthly bodies and phenomena such as the sun, moon, stars,
and planets. Human behavior is defined as the range of physical and emotional behaviors that humans
engage in; biologically, socially, intellectually, etc. and are influenced by culture, attitudes, emotions,
values, ethics, authority, rapport, persuasion, coercion and/or genetics. When combined, the two topics
merge into a third one called astrology: the study of celestial entities and how they apply to the
characteristics and affairs of humankind. Astrology has been influences human behavior on daily

Summary Of John Knowles A Separate Peace
A Separate Peace by John Knowles tells a story of the external and internal wars a person experiences
in their lifetime. During the summer session of 1942 at Devon Academy, introverted student Gene

envy Finny s charisma rather than admire. The growth of his selfish desires to transform into Finny
contradicts Gene s morality, creating an internal conflict. Knowles conveys one s selfishness causes

completely disregards the impact it would have on Finny when he inevitably found out the truth from
someone other than him. When Gene did not return [Finny s] look it reveals his immediate guilt and
shame because he recognizes that this would have a negative impact not only on Finny, but their
friendship. In addition, Gene s selfish desires to fulfill his satisfaction forces him to feel the necessity
to shake the tree branch. Gene admits, [Finny] had never been jealous of me for a second. Now I knew
that there never was and never could have been any rivalry between us. I was not of the same quality
as he. I couldn t stand this (Knowles 59). In the moments leading up to Finny s fall, Gene realizes the
mutual rivalry and enmity between him and Finny does not exist. Finny has no real enemy, re
establishing Gene s inferiority to him knowing his morals are not of the same quality as [Finny s]. His
realization that he remains inferior angers Gene and causes him to reveal his spitefulness when he

Dividend Policy and Share Prices
Introduction
In this paper the impact of dividend policy of the companies on the firm s share prices is analysed and
different views in the context of the semi strong form of the efficient market hypothesis are contrasted.
The overview of the traditional and most recent empirical investigations of the stock market reaction
to the dividend announcements is provided and different findings are discussed and compared.
Three companies have been selected from the FTSE All share price index. These companies are Tesco,
Burberry and Vodafone. These firms belong to different sectors of the economy. Tesco is the largest
retailer in the UK, Burberry is a fashion firm and Vodafone is the telecommunication services
company. The dividends and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dividend Announcements and Share Prices
Dividend announcements and their impact on share prices can be explained by the semi strong form of
the efficient market hypothesis (EMH). Efficient market hypothesis implies that the only thing that
may impact the stock prices is new information, since all other possibly influencing parameters are
already included in the firm s stock price (Palan, 2004).The efficient market hypothesis may be
divided into three forms: the weak form, the semi strong form, and the strong form. The weak form
implies that share prices bear or reflect the past prices and trade volume information, the semi strong
form adds publicly available information to the weak form, and the strong form adds even insider
information to the efficiency approach (Harder, 2008).
Empirical evidences show that successive changes in stock prices are independent and this
independence is in line with the efficient market hypothesis, as markets promptly react to the new
information (Fama et al., 1969). In this context it may be assumed that dividend announcements
convey particular positive information about the company and provide signals about future
performance of the firm. The decision about paying dividends is made by the firm s managers and
often supported by shareholders voting. Since dividend announcements bear useful information, from
the efficient market hypothesis view point this

An Evaluation Of Lms Based Adaptive Filtering
ABSTRACT Current Method of speech enhancement has been developed with adaptive filtering
approach. The removal of unwanted signal i.e. noise from speech signals have applications ranging
from cellular communications to front ends for speech recognition system. This paper describes
proficient algorithm for removal of noise from speech. An optimal evaluation of LMS based adaptive
filtering has been implemented for the observed noisy speech. This Algorithm is basic adaptive
algorithm. This Adaptive algorithm has been used in many practical applications as a result of its
robustness and simplicity. In Future Enhancement Unbiased and Normalized Adaptive noise reduction
will use for speech improvement. Keywords Adaptive filtering, LMS algorithm, MSE, Speech
Enhancement, UNANR. I. INTRODUCTION In Practical situations speech signals are corrupted by
several different forms of noise such as speaker sound, background noise like door slam fan running in
background, car noise, TV noise and also they are concern to distortion caused by communication
channels; examples are low quality microphone, room reverberation, etc. In all such situations
extraction of high resolution signals is an important task. Filtering techniques are mainly classified as
adaptive and non adaptive filtering techniques. Speech enhancement improves quality of signal by
suppression of noise and reduction of distortion. The speech enhancement tells about the growth of
communication system. Enhancement means

Zimbardo And Milgram Experiment
The risk to human participants in the noteworthy experiments Milgram (1963) and Haney, Banks, and
Zimbardo (1973) has advanced our understanding of power and obedience by highlighting the
significant influence of social situations on personal behaviour. However, as many subsequent
experiments on power and obedience have produced similar findings yet with a greater regard to
ethical principles and minimising risk to participants, the risks to participants were only necessary to a
small extent. Further, these experiments were conducted at a time when the psychological community
did not have stringent ethical guidelines. Since then, there has been a greater emphasise on protecting
human participants, culminating in the APA ethical guidelines which ... Show more content on

This game randomly separates participants into triangles, squares and circles where the circles have
the most power and can make rules that apply to the others, akin to the guards. This game was used to
explore notions of power and oppression and the results paralleled the findings of the prison
simulation; the circles who are indiscriminately granted power, corrupt it by forming rules that heavily
benefit their group and disadvantage others, and the triangles took on a passive role and felt helpless
(Nnawulezi, Campbell, Landstra, Davis, Vandegrift, Taylor., 2013). Hence the findings of the Stanford
prison simulation are easily replicated through this game which eliminates participants mental distress
and loss of rights and dignity, highlighting that the risks to participants can be avoided when

Identifying Symbols Using Foster s Teachings
Identifying Symbols Using Foster s teachings
Using Foster s How to Read Literature like a Professor Friendly Beasts in Undertale. In the book How
to Read Literature like a Professor by Thomas Foster the reader is taught to examine texts in order to
find additional meaning. In any text, one can find symbols to better identify meaning. Text can be a
movie, book, game, or anything that tells a story. Symbols are tools an author uses so a reader can
analyze a text to gain a greater understanding of of characters, messages, events, or even the story
itself. One example of a symbol is a friendly beast. A friendly beast is a character archetype when
something, often an animal, helps a hero advance in his quest. One text where this symbol is ... Show

how to deal with the many hardships that the child will run into in its perilous quest. She attempts to
prevent our hero from continuing out into what beyond her home as the path leads to an almost certain
death. However, she inadvertently prepared Frisk for his advent to the monster world by leaving the
child alone to let the hero s curiosity wonder about, teaching Frisk to solve problems.Without her the
story would have ended with the child and its quest being smote before it even began. This section
almost served as a prologue, preparing the player for the road to come. She helped the character see
that not all monsters are evil, and that they all are free thinking and can be spared. This lesson opens
up the story and the character s choice to befriend or to betray. After parting ways with Toriel, the next
helpful monster our character runs into is a Skeleton named Papyrus. Papyrus is a funny character
with little common sense. He desires to be in the royal guard and to have friends, but struggles with
hurting anyone. He is strong, but in the end he cannot bring himself to hurt the hero and ends up
befriending Frisk. He encourages the protagonist and assists in bringing the child closer to other
monsters and drives the plot forward. He warns it and attempts to help the hero in avoiding a

refrigerated carriers, packaging, warehouse, traceability, retailer, and consumers, under the aegis of
information management systems (Montanari, 2008). A typical cold chain is shown in Figure 1. The
integrity of the cold chain must be preserved from the point of production, processing, through each of
the transport stages handling, loading, unloading, and storage and extends to storage at the consuming

unnecessary losses and maintaining the bottom line. Literatures on cold chain management have
discussed about various performance variables and factors that influence the cold chain efficiency and
integrity. Donk et al. (2008) have explored the specific problems of food manufacturers seeking

Advancement Of Guns, Mobile Units, And Aircraft
Advancement of Guns, Mobile Units, and Aircraft was significant because each side (Axis Powers and
Allied Nations) both wanted advantages and strategic improvements to give other side a higher chance
of winning in battles. Science allowed these needs to become true because some of these
advancements allowed great advantages and strategic improvements to either sides. The way each
advancement was used was significant on how many people died during the war. The technology
allowed men on the ground for a better chance of survival and then a better strategic advancement
against the enemy if the enemy don t of have counters to their technology. Mostly every advancement
was based on being able to function better in the battlefield and to ... Show more content on

The Webley uses a top break reloading mechanism, where the entire barrel and cylinder can be moved
away from the frame. This requires two hands to accomplish and to hit your target where it was
intended and not get swerved by the recoil. The Enfield 2 has a revolving cylinder for .38 caliber
cartridges. It has a 5 foot barrel and to access the cylinder for a reload you have to look for a hinge
located near the trigger for easy access. Theses pistols were widely used by many troops and the barrel
shaped type of gun continued to favor the British Army and police. (Enfield 2 MilitaryFactory 1 n.a.)

Differences Between The Northern And Southern Regions...
Civil War Compare and Contrast What are the differences between the Northern and Southern regions
during the Civil War? The North and the South had many differences in their regions and in their
strategies to help them win the war. The things that stood out the most were the geography, economy,
and transportation, and advantages. The Climate in the North consisted of frozen winters and hot
summers. The climate in the South consisted of short winters and long humid summers. The economy
in the North consisted of large factories and mass productions. The economy in the South consisted of
large plantations. The North s transportation was the use of railroads, which was the fastest
transportation at that time. The South s transportation was water.

St. Louis Stereotypes
How has this experience influenced your view of St. Louis?
This experience has influenced my view of St. Louis stereotypes and residents. This was the first
extended amount of time I had spent north of Delmar. As a freshman, I remember hearing, don t go
north of Delmar and never cross the river ; however, this experience has changed my stereotypical
view of St. Louis. When I arrived at Walbridge elementary school, I did not know what to expect. The
streets were quiet and the neighborhood looked rundown, but I found the school seemed to be an
escape from what was going on outside. The school was not only a safe haven for its students, but also
their families, and I realized that Walbridge elementary school is so much more than a school.

Due to urban sprawl, the neighborhood of Walnut Park has been victim to marginalization. Similar to
Pruitt Igeo, urban sprawl caused residents to leave walnut park and take businesses and jobs with
them. Hammell (2016) states that, Occupational deprivation arises when populations have limited
choice in occupations because of their isolated location, their ability, or other circumstances . The
residents of Walnut Park cannot force business to stay in their neighborhood, so the lack of
occupations is outside of their immediate control. The deprivation of healthy occupations causes a
surplus in dark occupations, due to the fact people must find alternative ways to fill their time and
provide for their families. Also, the link between marginalization and occupation impacts culture.
Downes (1997) defines culture as, the learned part of human lifestyles . If a child grows up in a
community where there is illegal activity, lack of opportunity and decreased importance on education,
this is what they incorporate into their own life. The culture of Walnut Park is directly linked to its
occupational deprivation and feelings of inferiority. However, Walbridge elementary school is
working endlessly to shift this culture and bring opportunity back into their neighborhood.

Comparing The Credos Of Haydn And Palestrina
Comparing the Credos of Haydn and Palestrina It can be assumed that different composers will
convey different approaches to writing for the service of the Mass. For the sake of this discussion, we
will focus on the Credo. In this paper, I will examine the works of Joseph Haydn and Giovanni
Palestrina and compare certain elements such as the length, instrumentation, rhythm, articulation,
dynamics, range, language, melody, and harmony. The analysis will be taken from Haydn s Nelson
Mass (1798) and Palestrina s Missa Papae Marcelli . First, let us determine the differences in length
between the two Credos. In Haydn s work, the piece extends for eighty three measures. It also marked
that it should be performed at a quick pace, being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When comparing the rhythm of these two works, it is important to note that both pieces appear to be
written in cut time. Though, upon further inspection, it seems more likely to categorize Palestrina s
work as a 4/2 time signature. However, both are reflective of a simple meter. In Haydn s piece,
because of the number of instruments used, there is a good amount of rhythmic variation between the
parts. For example, as seen in the example to the left, the violins feature eighth note runs at multiple
sections while the chorus sings independently from them. His movement also makes use of sixteenth
notes and grace notes. In the same way that a large ensemble can employ multiple rhythms, the
smaller number of voices used in Palestrina s Credo means that there is less opportunity for such
variation. As seen in the example to the right, it is common for at least two voice parts to be similar to
each other. In this way, Palestrina has written his Credo section in a chordal style. While he also uses
short eighth runs, it is not to the extent of Haydn s work.
The next elements that I will be analyzing are the articulation and dynamic markings. Both pieces
include markings of some kind. Haydn uses more articulation in his work, marking notes with
staccatos, trills, and turns. The excerpt to the left exemplifies how Haydn marked a violin section. His
extensive use of articulations could be attributed to his use of instruments alonside of voices.
Palestrina utilizes a couple

Theme Of Beauty And The Beast By Angela Carter
Angela Carter, an English writer, is best known for her feminist rewriting of classical fairy tales. In her
stories she prominently uses themes, such as, virginity, the pornographic image, violence and sex, and
many others. Degrading someone to the status of a mere object, in other words objectification, is a
theme Angela Carter shows in many of her fairy tales, specifically the objectification of women.
According to Carter, the objectification and subjugation of women is part of a latent context of fairy
tales that she expressed simply by virtue of being a woman. Both The Tiger s Bride and The Courtship
of Mr. Lyon are fairy tales intertextually linked with Beauty and the Beast and show the reader Carters
views on femininity. Not only does Carter use the theme of the ... Show more content on

Her objectification continues until the end of the story. She says, The six of us, mounts and riders both
could boast amongst us not one soul, either, since all the best religions in the world state categorically
that not beasts nor women were equipped with the flimsy, insubstantial things .... (Carter, 44),
contending that men see women as soulless, just as they see animals soulless. She feels that the men
who claim to possess souls consider her as nothing more than an item of physical worth and that is
why she calls them flimsy and insubstantial . When the heroine says that she is no longer resembles
the soubrette, she begins to claim her own desires, meaning that she can no longer submit to society s
female stereotypes. She declares, I will dress her in my own clothes, wind her up, send her back to
perform the part of my father s daughter. (Carter, 46). Through the symbol of the soubrette, Carter
shows the reader that this view of women weakens the character and prevents her from fulfilling her
potential. Thus, The Tiger s Bride , the heroine must accept the animal in nature in herself and in the
Beast, in order to be free of the human world

  • 2. Social Construction For a lot of people, when the word technology is said they picture something related to or of a computer or cell phone. Not many people think of the technology found in the field of science or the creation of a modern day car or even what powers the technology they imagine. Even less think of the individual parts of the artifact that makes up the piece of tech they thought of or just how long this science of craft has existed and grown. With such an ever expanding and omnipresent force at work to make humankind more advanced and life simpler, it s not surprising that other fields have sprouted to examine how technology is shaped. One such examination led to the concept of the social construction of technology (or SCOT). Advocates of this concept ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then five months after Twitter s launch, an earthquake in San Francisco happened except this earthquake had people who were experiencing it using Twitter to share their stories, which led to another group of people who heard about the earthquake using Twitter to get information from a place they were not in. These were not the only groups of people using Twitter during the earthquake, but they are the best example of interpretative flexibility. Two groups of people both using the same app, but for one group it s a means of sharing information and for another it was about collecting that information and that right there was the basis of Twitter. Closure took hold for a while because even though the app was still used to communicate with friends, it became more of an information sharing platform than it used to be. Then, more groups joined and the use of Twitter changed again. The rise of social media created a new way to interact and soon led groups of investors, celebrities, politicians, scientists, and even soccer moms to use the site to network, advertise products, educate themselves, and start important conversations. Twitter was no longer just a place to trade information, it became a business. And as newer generations of people begin to download Twitter, it will change again. Currently, the majority of Twitter users are shaping this application by using it as a political platform to share, stop, and acknowledge injustice. Yet, just a year ago, it was more often than not a place where people got their first reports of natural disasters, sport scores, celebrity deaths, and spoilers of popular television shows. It was not a place where you would see people from all types of different groups fired up over politics and state of the world in the extent as it seen today. And yes, Twitter ... • 4. The Epic of Gilgamesh What Meets The Eye In today s day and age, literature and media have ample effect on how our society influences individuals. Women are perceived as sexual objects, but have the ability to persuade and influence the male character in literature. The Epic of Gilgamesh portrays the significance ancient Mesopotamian Literature has made on the social image that women possess pertaining to sexuality and appearances to the public eye in modern culture. In Gilgamesh, the harlot Shamhat held a reputation proving that women are only represented in one way. To support this argument, many aspects such as defining the Male Gaze, heroism, and how women influence the main character, all prove how poorly women are portrayed in literature and furthermore in modern media and culture. The Epic of Gilgamesh focuses mainly on the two male protagonists Enkidu and Gilgamesh. Shamhat was later introduced into the story as a temple prostitute that had the reputation of taming wild beasts (Martin 103). She domesticates Enkidu into the ways of humankind using seduction, but as the story continues, it shows how truly important Shamhat s position is in the epic. Shamhat, in her role, is a generous force that brings knowledge and progress to a strong hero preparing him for the many tribulations ahead. One of the aspects we fail to recognize in Mesopotamian literature, let alone all literature of the world, is the heroic roles of women. In Women in the African Epic, Joseph L. Mbele states, ... Macbeth exists as a vessel for basic human emotions; faltering with anguish and alacrity to serve his desires and sense of honor. • 6. International Law And Nuclear Weapons Internationally, nuclear weapons have been an important topic of concern and debate for the past several decades. The concerns and debates within the international community regarding the proliferation of nuclear weapons to more sovereign states in the post Cold War era have led to many international law instruments in attempts to contain these weapons of mass destruction. Treaties such as the Treaty on the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and the Test Ban Treaty of 1963, international organizations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and the Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organization (KEDO), along with United Nations Security Council resolutions and advisory opinions from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) have all played roles in attempting to contain and reduce nuclear weapons in the international community. However, have these treaties, advisory opinions, resolutions, and creation of international organizations been effective in curtailing sovereign states from obtaining and testing nuclear weapons? This paper will highlight the relationship between specific instruments of International Law pertaining to nuclear weapons through a case study of North Korea to show that instruments of International Law in particular, such as the Korean Peninsula Energy Development Agency (KEDO), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), along with United States and United Nations economic restrictions, have been ineffective at controlling the ... Being that the prisoners don t have much to do they have no choice but to absorb the culture of jail leaving inmates to talk. Amongst these prisoners as sated earlier they are categorized such as the petty hustler, the junkie, the lowrider and more. The Federal government has powers given by the Constitution as well powers or privileges are given to the states which promotes a balance between the two so that our country is not ruled under one specific party or group. The question now is that, are the states rights more than well protected in the current constitution and the political practice. The Constitution is the structure of a political system. It establishes governmental bodies, grants powers, determines how to select members and impose rules by which they make the decisions. Therefore, the Constitution can t be changed by ordinary acts of governmental bodies. Along with the Constitution we have the Articles of Confederation. Under these Articles congress was a single house where each state had 2 to 7 members but only one vote. They selected executive judges and military officers as well as having power to make war and peace and conduct foreign affairs. The ability to have money Congress could borrow and print money, but they could not collect taxes or enforce laws, precisely it had to rely on the states to provide and enforce. Articles of Confederation was written to be a framework for the government of the United States, it established a firm league of friendship among the states rather than a government of the people. • 12. Recent Advances in the Study of Protein Misfolding Diseases Protein misfolding diseases include highly debilitating degenerative disorders like Alzheimer s and Parkinson s diseases. The healthcare and financial burden linked to these pathologies has been steadily increasing over the past decade. Actually, there is currently no efficient treatment for misfolding diseases as well as no reliable early diagnostic techniques for them, in most cases. It is known that, in many cases, the cytotoxic effect of misfolded proteins is exerted through their self assembly into amyloid like protein aggregates. Unfortunately, the mechanisms responsible for the toxicity of protein aggregates are still not completely understood. The number of protein targets whose misfolding and aggregation is being shown to be associated with the onset of pathologic conditions is constantly increasing. Since the development of degenerative disorders is expected to increase at a similar rate than life expectancy, it is likely that in the years to come misfolding diseases would become more common and prevalent than previously thought. We should be prepared to deal with such a dramatic scenario and join research efforts to understand the molecular mechanism that underlie these devastating disorders without further delay. In this book, we highlight recent advances in the study of protein misfolding disorders and their protein targets, but we also describe how different organisms exploit the amyloid fold for the functional and dynamic assembly of biological structures. ... The reasoning behind why a student is being retained can be a big deciding factor on whether it will end with success or not. At an older level, kids have a higher rate of success than those who have been retained (Davis School District, 2011). • 17. The Influence Of Socrates On Virtue And Knowledge Born circa 469 until 399 B.C.E in Athens, Greece, Socrates was a classical Greek philosopher who is credited for laying the fundamentals of modern Western philosophy (Routledge, 1999). Socrates is well known for his iconic trial and execution mainly for his disrespect of the Athenian democracy, his development of what came to be known as the Socratic method and for his concern of virtue. However, much of what we know of Socrates is from Plato s writings, as he did not leave any behind. Socrates ethical theory was focused quite strongly on virtue and knowledge. He was adamant that the most important goal is not merely surviving or staying alive but living well, not in the sense of wealth or power, which he criticised the Athenian government of doing so but to live virtuously and justly. As quoted by Socrates, Virtue is Knowledge . He believed that living virtuously would ultimately lead to moral excellence and the way to the good life, which would in turn bring Eudemonia (Happiness). However, what is virtue? Samuel Taylor Coleridge?s ?Rime of the Ancient Mariner? is a piece known to many in some vague way or another. An elderly sailor, a ghostly ship, and the killing of an albatross are all present in many people?s minds, although they may not entirely know the whole tale. Although well known today, the most activity ?Rime? has seen was in its beginnings. It has its fair share of praise and criticism, praise given posthumously and criticism given while Coleridge was alive. Other than criticisms on the actual text, many people claim that Coleridge borrowed the ideas of others and used them. One must look past the criticisms and negative reviews on an author?s work in order to truly understand it. This would aid a reader in realizing ? Rime? is full of religious truths, subtly illustrating Coleridge?s religious opinions. More than this, ? Rime? is a hidden pathway to Coleridge?s soul, as it allowed him to relieve grief and pain, illustrate his hopes and dreams, and express his true feelings about his life and the lives of all. Although Samuel Taylor Coleridge?s ?Rime of the Ancient Mariner? was criticized by many, it was more than a poem stuffed with borrowed ideas and stitched together with imagination; rather, it was an outlet for Coleridge, a therapeutical journal which simultaneously brought entertainment to those of his time and posterity. It is characterized by its loud distorted guitars, dense bass and drum sound and vigorous vocals. Because of its different and a bit aggressive sound, metal music is not everyone s cup of tea. Sadly, metal community is often faced with a lot of stereotypical opinions. The most widespread stereotypical opinion is that all metal songs are about the devil and hell. One more stereotypical opinion is that all metal songs are just pointless screaming. All these stereotypes are wrong because metal music has a very wide range of lyrical themes and, next to usual loud songs, there are also some very nice and emotional ballads. Only problem with metal music is the fact that this kind of music is often associated with drugs, alcohol and violence. It is true that some metal fans consume drugs and alcohol, but that does not mean that all fans of metal music should be categorized as drug addicts and alcoholics because those people s addiction is a result of their bad choices and it has nothing to do with the music they listen to. Knowles conveys one s selfishness causes decisions to be based on self concern rather than the well being of others. For instance, Gene chooses to lie to Finny and the other boys during the mock trial to avoid confrontation. He believes conflict would allow Finny to change his perception ... Here, Gene s decision to lie to Finny reveals his selfish and deceitful side overpowering his morality. He lies to preserve the untainted image that Finny held of him. He completely disregards the impact it would have on Finny when he inevitably found out the truth from someone other than him. When Gene did not return [Finny s] look it reveals his immediate guilt and shame because he recognizes that this would have a negative impact not only on Finny, but their friendship. In addition, Gene s selfish desires to fulfill his satisfaction forces him to feel the necessity to shake the tree branch. Gene admits, [Finny] had never been jealous of me for a second. Now I knew that there never was and never could have been any rivalry between us. I was not of the same quality as he. I couldn t stand this (Knowles 59). In the moments leading up to Finny s fall, Gene realizes the mutual rivalry and enmity between him and Finny does not exist. Dividend Announcements and Share Prices Dividend announcements and their impact on share prices can be explained by the semi strong form of the efficient market hypothesis (EMH). Efficient market hypothesis implies that the only thing that may impact the stock prices is new information, since all other possibly influencing parameters are already included in the firm s stock price (Palan, 2004).The efficient market hypothesis may be divided into three forms: the weak form, the semi strong form, and the strong form. The weak form implies that share prices bear or reflect the past prices and trade volume information, the semi strong form adds publicly available information to the weak form, and the strong form adds even insider information to the efficiency approach (Harder, 2008). Empirical evidences show that successive changes in stock prices are independent and this independence is in line with the efficient market hypothesis, as markets promptly react to the new information (Fama et al., 1969). In this context it may be assumed that dividend announcements convey particular positive information about the company and provide signals about future performance of the firm. The decision about paying dividends is made by the firm s managers and often supported by shareholders voting. Since dividend announcements bear useful information, from the efficient market hypothesis view point this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the book How to Read Literature like a Professor by Thomas Foster the reader is taught to examine texts in order to find additional meaning. In any text, one can find symbols to better identify meaning. Text can be a movie, book, game, or anything that tells a story. Symbols are tools an author uses so a reader can analyze a text to gain a greater understanding of of characters, messages, events, or even the story itself. This was the first extended amount of time I had spent north of Delmar. As a freshman, I remember hearing, don t go north of Delmar and never cross the river ; however, this experience has changed my stereotypical view of St. Louis. When I arrived at Walbridge elementary school, I did not know what to expect. The streets were quiet and the neighborhood looked rundown, but I found the school seemed to be an escape from what was going on outside. Similar to Pruitt Igeo, urban sprawl caused residents to leave walnut park and take businesses and jobs with them. The residents of Walnut Park cannot force business to stay in their neighborhood, so the lack of occupations is outside of their immediate control. The deprivation of healthy occupations causes a surplus in dark occupations, due to the fact people must find alternative ways to fill their time and provide for their families. Also, the link between marginalization and occupation impacts culture. Downes (1997) defines culture as, the learned part of human lifestyles . If a child grows up in a community where there is illegal activity, lack of opportunity and decreased importance on education, this is what they incorporate into their own life. • 31. Comparing The Credos Of Haydn And Palestrina Comparing the Credos of Haydn and Palestrina It can be assumed that different composers will convey different approaches to writing for the service of the Mass. For the sake of this discussion, we will focus on the Credo. In this paper, I will examine the works of Joseph Haydn and Giovanni Palestrina and compare certain elements such as the length, instrumentation, rhythm, articulation, dynamics, range, language, melody, and harmony. The analysis will be taken from Haydn s Nelson Mass (1798) and Palestrina s Missa Papae Marcelli . First, let us determine the differences in length between the two Credos. In Haydn s work, the piece extends for eighty three measures. It also marked that it should be performed at a quick pace, being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When comparing the rhythm of these two works, it is important to note that both pieces appear to be written in cut time. Though, upon further inspection, it seems more likely to categorize Palestrina s work as a 4/2 time signature. However, both are reflective of a simple meter. In Haydn s piece, because of the number of instruments used, there is a good amount of rhythmic variation between the parts. For example, as seen in the example to the left, the violins feature eighth note runs at multiple sections while the chorus sings independently from them. His movement also makes use of sixteenth notes and grace notes. In the same way that a large ensemble can employ multiple rhythms, the smaller number of voices used in Palestrina s Credo means that there is less opportunity for such variation. As seen in the example to the right, it is common for at least two voice parts to be similar to each other. In this way, Palestrina has written his Credo section in a chordal style. While he also uses short eighth runs, it is not to the extent of Haydn s work. The next elements that I will be analyzing are the articulation and dynamic markings. Both pieces include markings of some kind. Haydn uses more articulation in his work, marking notes with staccatos, trills, and turns. The excerpt to the left exemplifies how Haydn marked a violin section. His extensive use of articulations could be attributed to his use of instruments alonside of voices. • 32. Theme Of Beauty And The Beast By Angela Carter Angela Carter, an English writer, is best known for her feminist rewriting of classical fairy tales. In her stories she prominently uses themes, such as, virginity, the pornographic image, violence and sex, and many others. Degrading someone to the status of a mere object, in other words objectification, is a theme Angela Carter shows in many of her fairy tales, specifically the objectification of women. According to Carter, the objectification and subjugation of women is part of a latent context of fairy tales that she expressed simply by virtue of being a woman. Both The Tiger s Bride and The Courtship of Mr. Lyon are fairy tales intertextually linked with Beauty and the Beast and show the reader Carters views on femininity. She says, The six of us, mounts and riders both could boast amongst us not one soul, either, since all the best religions in the world state categorically that not beasts nor women were equipped with the flimsy, insubstantial things .... (Carter, 44), contending that men see women as soulless, just as they see animals soulless. She feels that the men who claim to possess souls consider her as nothing more than an item of physical worth and that is why she calls them flimsy and insubstantial . When the heroine says that she is no longer resembles the soubrette, she begins to claim her own desires, meaning that she can no longer submit to society s female stereotypes. She declares, I will dress her in my own clothes, wind her up, send her back to perform the part of my father s daughter. (Carter, 46).
