Family Dynamics Chapter Summary
Reading reaction 2
This chapter tell us about what they called the creator of the family movement Mr. Bowen. In this
chapters the lectors could find the theoretical formulations where some angles are form to describe
the union or functions of the family and how they are connected to each other (e.g., emotional
triangles, process, cutoff, society, genogram, differentiation, etc.) and so forth, (Nichols M. 2017;
pg. 71 87).
Personally as we all grow and learn from each chapter of the book every information is important on
our careers. The information that I most retain in this chapter are the theoretical formulations and
strategies that will help us understand the family dynamics. Chapter five tells us family problem
solving; there is a six steps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The information that was new to me is the six steps models. As professionals we need to learn all
the information and techniques that we can apply to the benefit of the family.
Chapter six talks about structural theory this is important because every family has a structural base
in place; some concept are boundaries, subsystems, alignments, and complementary which are easy
to apply in therapy. The family structure is how is the interaction of the family, then how they
interact with each other and their own personal boundaries between each other. To be able to
provide an effective outcome in family therapy is imperative to consider the entire family
members. The chapter provide a guideline for structural family assessment as we can observe in
page 120 (Nichols M. 2017).
The information provided in this chapter open the view of observing the interaction within the
family members and how it relates to the conflicts. All the information in this book it is
imperative, however, the family assessment was a good key for us as beginners. Learning all this
material help us grow as professionals in our careers.

Compare The Rate Law For The Reaction Between Crystal...
Rate Law for the reaction crystal violet and hydroxide ions
Objective
This experiment was to determine the rate law for the crystal violet with hydroxyl ions reaction.
Materials
Crystal violet dye, sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and spectrophotometer were used in this experiment.
Theory
The rate of reaction is a topic in chemical kinetics that explains the speed at which the chemicals
interact or it is the rate at which a product is formed by a chemical reaction. There are factors that
determine the rate of a particular reaction. These factors include; reactant concentration, the
temperature of the reaction and presence or absence of a catalyst. Most chemical reactions increase
in speed as the concentration of the reactant increases. This is because ... Show more content on

This is because the moles of crystal violet dye react with the hydroxyl ions present in sodium
hydroxide (Wheeler and Sigmann 328). The slopes of both the first order and second order graphs
of In (concentration) against time gave the rate constant (k) of each reactant. For the first order
absorbance reaction, the concentration of sodium hydroxide was 0.01M, which has a reaction rate
constant of 0.055 (mol dm 3 s 1) while the reaction rate constant of the first order absorbance
where the concentration of sodium hydroxide, 0.020M, was 0.095 (mol dm 3 s 1). When rate
constant (NaOH 0.01M) was divided by (NaOH 0.020M) gave 0.579 (mol dm 3 s 1). The
functional change of y as the concentration rate changes is calculated to be 0.8. Therefore, the
order of reaction with respect to the hydroxyl ions was 0.8.
Conclusion
In this experiment, the reaction order with respect to hydroxyl ions was calculated. The
comparison of rate 1 (initial concentration) and rate two (second concentration) showed that the
value of y which is the rate of reaction in respect to hydroxyl ions was 0.8. Therefore, the order
of reaction with respect to hydroxide ions was 0.8. By using the graphical method, the value of
x=1. x represents the order of reaction with respect to dye(crystal violet). The overall rate law was
found to be; Rate=k [crystal violet] 1[hydroxide ions]

The social self regulated strategies help learners in gaining new knowledge and satisfy the learners
in e learning environment. They find the solutions with each other and interact together which can
reduce the loneliness during online training. However, these strategies not bring any benefits to
help learners integrate the knowledge to become their skill to handle different situation. Besides, the
implement of self regulated strategies was affected by few individual factors which were personal
virtual competence and goal orientation and the job and contextual factors such as cooperative
norms and intellectual demand. The results of this research can help employees gain better learning
outcomes by adopting suitable self regulated strategies to manage their e learning processes.
Furthermore, the results might also help those organizations that want to enhance the return on
investments in e learning by choosing the e learning systems that support both self regulated
learning strategies, offering the managerial interventions that convinced employees to adopt the self
regulated learning strategies, and fostering the cooperative norms that promote the social
interaction among employees.
The first limitation of this article was the retrospective self reported data of the authors in

A View From the Bridge Essay
Eddie Carbone is an American Sicilian man working in Brooklyn. He works as a longshoreman:
carrying crates and goods from the ships. He is quite a large man. His job requires him to be strong
and a good worker. In other words he is very masculine. He is an ordinary man. He lives with his
wife and niece, whom he treats like a daughter, and like all good menshould do, he works every day
to provide them with enough money to survive on. Eddie is a man s man. He lives within a close
knit community of Sicilians and is a well respected member of society. Eddie sees himself as a
prime example of how a man should act and look.
The ending of a view from the bridge is fairly predictable from the beginning as it is hinted at by

Eddie holds an old fashioned, limited view of masculinity. His opinions of what it means to be
masculine involve fairly stereotypical features, such as strength and ability. Characteristics that
people generally associate with a male figure are strength, silent. The time that they play is set
in doesn t help to widen Eddie s view of masculinity. The area, Redhook, is described by the
lawyer Alfieri. But this is Redhook, not Sicily. This is the slum that faces the bay on the
seaward side of Brooklyn Bridge...the gullet of New York swallowing the tonnage of the world .
It accommodated some of the worst people of the time, and though there were laws the country
was controlled by gangsters. In those days, Al Capone, the greatest Carthaginian of all, was
learning his trade on these pavements, and Frankie Yale himself was cut precisely in half by a
machine gun on the corner of Union Street, two blocks away . This would maybe inspire Eddie to
act tough and strong. He understands that these gangsters are undeniably very masculine figures
and that may affect him. All the immigrants came to this area, that s why the community was so
close knit. It is also why it was so devastating to betray family or friends by reporting immigrants.
When Eddie warns Catherine not to say anything about the illegal immigrants coming to stay with
them he tells the story of a boy who reported his uncle. The whole neighbourhood was cryin . The
worst thing you could do was betray

Comparison Of Wild Awake And Alice In Wonderland
The theme of a story acts as a guide for the writer when creating aspects of a story like setting,
atmosphere, and the world, in general. For example, the author must ask, where is the story going
to take place? Are there any special rules for this world? What is the mood of the story? By using
the theme as a guide, the author decides what to share with the audience and what to hold back.
This gives the story meaning, and it is what makes the story memorable (Tanemura). Writers must
create a believable setting as it is crucial to the reading process because it beckons the reader into
the fictional world allowing them to leave reality behind and suspend disbelief. When coupled with
world building techniques like determining government systems,... Show more content on

Carroll uses this setup to the setting as an introduction to the world where animals and inanimate
objects are anthropomorphized and time and space are relative. The thematic structure of Alice s

through the eyes of a growing child full of wonder. Although the story is whimsical, underlying the

_ The flattening of the corporate organization requires key managers and leaders to travel. These
executives are giving all their time and the company is enhancing its investment with improved

In today s business scenario, leadership teams are shrinking. That means fewer people make the
business happen. High salaries make executives time cost a major concern shareholders get mad

The second most frequent source of business aircraft services is charter flights. Charter is very
flexible and can be especially effective in supporting specific purposes. Less connectivity to
many emerging markets like eastern Europe renders the commercial flights a highly unlikely
mode for the business traveler. Several reputable companies have geared up to meet that need.
Global Aviation, based in Singapore, is working closely with China Southern Airways to provide
access to 80 destinations within the People s Republic of China. In 1996, Jet Aviation opened full
service facilities in Singapore. Dassault Falcon Jet is also involved in Hong Kong based charter
services that support Pacific rim business travelers.
The other main concern about using charter services is the cost. Charter services are usually
more expensive than the airlines or the use of comparable business aircraft for a specific trip.
However, they are a lot less expensive than owning an aircraft for a hundred hours or so of use per
year.
The third business aircraft access option is the fastest growing segment of business aviation:
fractional aircraft ownership. Fractional share ownership is what its name implies: You can buy as
little as an eighth of an aircraft, with an allocation of 100 passenger hours of use. The costs include
the initial capital investment, monthly fixed charges and per flight hour charges.

Theme Of Satan In Paradise Lost
Sympathy for Satan An Emotional Monster
(Analysis of Satan both psychological and physically as he is portrayed in Milton s Paradise Lost)
In John Milton s Paradise Lost, Satan is one of the major figures of the book. The poem s intense
focus on his temperament portrays psychological information of someone with a conflictive
personality, one that pushes and pulls at his emotions. Differing from his fellow fallen angels, he
has no regrets for his decisions and is a fearless leader, but in private his deeper, darker thoughts
take hold. Lisa Ampleman, a managing editor of the Cincinnati Review says he is not the absolute
evil we may have expected, and a sympathetic devil is a dangerous devil (Ampleman). This danger
creates an interesting story of the creation of man and how man came to fall just as Satan had. As ...

One cannot help but believe that everything they do is for the greater good. As well as one
cannot deny the quest and thirst for power, humans constantly are driven by this thirst, driven to
do evil things to get what they want. Milton shows this side of Satan, the leader and epic hero of
his own story. Yet tragedy befalls him and he lays victim to his own pride and greed, making him
the villain as well. Satan knows this to be true and inevitable in the eyes of God. Satan says them
himself through his soliloquies. Barbara Lewalski, author of Paradise Lost and the Rhetoric of
Literary Forms says that Satan s soliloquy here still carries with it the literary significance in
terms of his position in the poem, the often insightful and emotional confession, as well as the
overall impact of the tragedy itself (Lewalski). In the end, Satan can t be a hero, and leaves him to
take on the role of the villain because his actions and emotions led him to

Organizational Culture and Structure
Organizational Culture and Structure
The structure of an organization determines the allocation of roles, regulations, and responsibilities,
and therefore builds a basis for the culture in an organization. There is a constant relationship
between organizational structure and organizational culture that provides a theme within an
organization. Both can be difficult to clearly define and distinguish when analyzing an organization.
Organization culture is a perspective into the company s personality; it provides descriptive values,
principals, traditions, and a way of doing things that effect how members view the organization

Stories of innovation inspire creativity and help build the strength of an organization s culture. A
strong organizational culture holds key values that are shared with all members. It is the
responsibility of leaders to uphold an organization s culture to ensure that there is a proper
foundation that binds the structure.
Organizational Structure Any organization should have its own operating structure in order to
reach success. Organizational structure is defined as a hierarchy of people that determine roles of
authority, communications, and the duties of an organization (Robbins et al., 2013). Organizations
must organize their structure to meet the needs of that particular organization, and assure that it
resembles the values instilled by the organizational culture. The development of culture through an
organization is a natural process that is dependent upon the instilled values of the leaders and
members in the organization (O Neil, 2011). Leaders can still influence the culture by sticking to
their values and implementing a strong and effective organizational structure. There are several
models that organizations can utilize to structure the elements within the organization.
The structure of an organization can be divided into two generic organization structure models.

The Causes Of The Hmong War
The Hmong people claim to have helped in the war, but no one has noticed who they were. The
Hmong came from southeast Asia, many fled from the war as a refuge from their country, it s
melancholy that people need to do this. The main cause was a political war and it has lug on for a
while, the war caused many deaths in the Hmong peopleand for other different ethnic groups in the
southeast Asian countries. When America came to preclude the war from going further, they were
aided by a secret army made by the Hmong people. But there were many casualties, especially in the
Hmong population, near one third of the population perished in the involvement in the war. And
they couldn t take any more casualties so they fled. When they arrived in America, they mostly
settled in Minnesota therefore separated slowly into other states. And as that happened, they slowly
lost their customs as they lived in America. Then the Hmong was mistreated, they had been slowly
forgotten and their aid was never recognized by the USA.
The Hmong came to the U.S.A to escape the tragedy that happened in the southeast Asian
countries, several of their relatives was left behind unhurriedly suffering, aside from that when the
Hmong people were brought to the U.S.A there were many that was aided but minority families
had many siblings and could not earn a finite amount of financial aid to help raise their kin. Those

Character Analysis Of Alice s Adventures In Wonderland
As a child, I identified with a little blond girl named Alice from C. S. Lewis Alice s Adventures
In Wonderland . This story works as an agent of socialization because Alice s adventures parallel
the journey from childhood to adulthood as she comes into new situations in which adaptability is
absolutely necessary for success. In the beginning of the story, she can barely maintain enough
composure to keep herself from crying. By the end, she is self possessed and able to hold her own
against the most perplexing Wonderland logic. Symbols are utilized throughout the story and most
every character and situation seem to represent the challenges associated with growing up from
childhood to adulthood.

Class Struggle In Hamlet
Throughout history, class divisions have always been a big issue. Many works today display
social inequality; however, to realize it, one has to look through the right lens. Literary critical
lenses help to see a work from a different angle which leads to a better analysis of the
composition. There are many different lenses and aspects in literature, and one of them is the
Marxist Theory. Also known as the Conflict Theory, this idea claims that class struggle is a big
divider in society. Although it is more of a cultural idea, this concept also applies to literature. In
his play Hamlet, William Shakespeare clearly demonstrates the idea of class struggles; looking at
this composition through the lens of the Marxist Theory, one uncovers that the powerful ones
suppress and manipulates the others in an attempt to display their superiority. Class struggle is
really obvious in Hamlet. The royals exploit and use the lower class in order to achieve their
goals. People from the working class obey the Aristocrats commands and they do not have a big
importance in their society. The Aristocrats notably Hamlet, Claudius and even Gertrude oppress
others in order to get what they want and show that they are superior. Claudius kills his own
brother and marries Gertrude in order to have a better chance to be king since she is the the
imperial jointress, to the throne; he does not love Gertrude; he is using her to get the power (I.ii.9).

Chicken And Waffles Essay
Chicken and Waffles, an American classic combo. A dish where dinner meets breakfast and its
popularity grew from Harlem, New York. Chicken and Waffles is an American dish where
traditionally, fried chicken and a waffle are put together and is eaten with butter and syrup. There
are many different variations of this dish and you can either go sweet or spicy.
Chicken and Waffles was born in a time period called the Harlem Renaissance. The Harlem
Renaissance was part of the early twentieth century were African American culture was at its
golden age. There were singers, dancers and very famous musicians. Chicken and Waffles was
made at this time and it is still a big part of African American culture today. This culture is to sit

The first Chicken and Waffles ever invented was made by the Pennsylvania Dutch during the
1600 s. They made waffles then topped it with stewed chicken and gravy. Later the closest thing

however a dramatic shift between 2000 and 2001. The ratio of price decreased by more than 50%
along with the stock price even though the book values per share increased.
In Conclusion, looking at the financial statement analysis for Sun Microsystems one can definitely
see the company s strengths and their needs. The balance sheet indicates what the firm owns and
how these assets are financed in the form of liabilities or ownership interest and the statement of
income is the major device for measuring the profitability of a firm over time
Sun Microsystems needs to implement a new plan quickly to save its company from going under

between 2000 and 2001. Not all changes were specific to Sun Microsystems. Some of these
changes were industry wide. If Sun Microsystems was to outsource some of its employees it can
save money appealing to its stockholders. Consequently, outsourcing will allow for more emphasis
and focus on product development, which can ultimately increase revenue. Sun Microsystems

The Evolution of Democracy in the Early Republic
The evolution of democracy from the time of President Thomas Jefferson to President Andrew
Jackson can be depicted as a minimal change in conceptually agrarian viewpoints and strong
supporters of equality for the common man. While the two men essentially shared many of the
same beliefs and ideas, there was a noticeable difference to how they acted on them and spoke out
about them.
As the nation s third president, Jefferson organized the national government by his own ideals,
doubled the size of the United States, and struggled to maintain American neutrality in the face of
ever increasing pressure. The seventh President of the United States, Andrew Jackson was a general

Jacksonian Democracy favored Laissez faire economics over the proactive federal investments
promoted by the opposing Whig Party ( Jacksonian Democracy , 2017).
Jeffersonians believed in equality and rule by the educated. Jefferson believed education would be
the cure of all evils. He said, Educate the people generally, and tyranny and injustice will vanish
like evil spirits at the dawn of day. (Hart, 1898). Jacksonians thought the best way to end corruption
was to allow all the common people to vote and have their say in their government, however both
men clearly demonstrate that their definition of the common man doesn t include minorities.
On the American frontier, democracy became a way of life, with widespread social, economic and
political equality. The system gradually evolved, from Jeffersonian Democracy or the First Party
System to Jacksonian Democracy or the Second Party System and later to the Third Party System
Jeffersonian and Jacksonian Democracy are the same in just about every regard. Their views and
goals as presidents are the same. Both are in favor of the common man and feel that it is the
common people who should have the biggest influence on government, not the wealthy aristocrats.
They also support states rights and feel that the federal government should not get involved with the
states affairs. Both men s actions clearly show that the common man does not include minorities.

Question #3
a) What is life cycle costing? Under what circumstances can it be most useful? What are some
potential problems with this approach?
Life cycle costing is a cost based approach to setting prices where a firm explicitly takes into
consideration costs to be incurred throughout a product s entire life cycle. The life cycle can be
broken into three parts: pre production, production, and post production.
It can be most useful when a firm incurs significant pre production or post production costs in

Essay On Greek Theatre
In terms of filling my obligations I completed all but one. I believe we as a chorus performed well,
and as a good unit.
I believe we provided good support for the actors and when our piece came we performed well. Our
whole group was fairly in unison thanks to the choreography provided by Gemma and while we
stumbled on one line the rest I believe went really well. I was very proud of how collaborative are
group was in performance and how we conveys a clear image to the audience of which I believe

Homeless People And The Homeless Essay
Think about what it is like, not knowing where you will end up sleeping tonight, or when your
next meal or shower is going to be, according to the National Alliance to End Homelessness there
were about 600,000 homeless people in America in January of 2015. This paper will hopefully
spread insight on homelessnessas a whole. There are many misconceptions about homeless people
and many facts that people do not realize about homeless people. These facts should be brought
to attention in order to help increase the knowledge of what normal everyday individuals can do
to help. Every day we are surrounded by someone who is homeless and we don t even know it.
People tend to have a false interpretation of what a homeless person looks like, the reasons for them
becoming homeless, and even how to help them.
There are many different factors that cause people to become homeless. The leading causes of
homelessness in America are not having enough affordable housing, a lack of income,
unemployment, poverty, and domestic violence. The reason people can become homeless can be
the result of one specific event which occurs, or it could be due to a kind of snowball effect
which occurs, where one small event leads to another and then another, until the end result is not
having a house anymore. While interviewing Katrina Knight, the executive director of Good
Shephard Center for the Homeless, she gave me a good example of this. In a situation where a
couple splits up and there is only one

Comparing Crimson Tide And A Soldier s Story
The movies I am reviewing are Crimson Tide and A Soldier s Story. The main characters in
Crimson Tide are Captain Ramsay, played by Gene Hackman; and Lieutenant Commander Hunter,
played by Denzel Washington, Ramsay s executive officer. The main characters in A Soldier s
Story are Captain Davenport, played by Howard Rollins; and Sergeant Waters, played by Adolph
Caesar. Ironically, in this movie a young Denzel Washington
played a prominent role as Private First
Class Peterson. This was before he became a household name. Arguably, this movie catapulted him
into superstardom. This paper will compare and contrast the leadershipstyles of Captain Ramsay and
Sergeant Watters.
The scene in Crimson Tide was aboard a nuclear submarine called the USS Alabama. Facing threat
of a nuclear attack from a Russian submarine, Ramsay and Hunter found themselves locked in a
power struggle because Hunter refused Ramsay s orders to launch a preemptive nuclear strike
pending confirmation of an aborted emergency action message (EAM).
Hunter s insubordination led to a mutiny and a series of armed standoffs aboard the submarine
between those loyal to Hunter and those loyal to Ramsay. When the EAM the finally came through,
Hunter s insubordination turned out to avert nuclear war. Ramsey quietly conceded that Hunter was
a correct to suggest waiting on confirmation and recommended Hunter for his next promotion
before a disciplinary hearing.

Throughout the history of English literature there has been a distinguished group of outcasts
known as the other. The characters who are typically labeled the others are individuals that are
perceived by a larger group as not belonging and are flawed in an essential way. The larger group

I Speak Through My Clothes
I speak through my clothes. (Hebdige, 1993: 100, quoting Eco, 1973) Fashion is one of the
ways that one creates identity. In particular, since the rise of youth culture in the 1960s fashion
has become... a way of defining one s identity or else a way of avoiding such definition .
(Gonzalez Bovone, 2012: 23) The 1960s saw a rise in mass production of consumerism fashion,
and has been used as a form of expressing ones identity; whether it be inspired or interpreted from
religion, social status, habitus, gender, cultural icons, or subcultures (such as punk, pastel goth,
hipster, etc.) Crane states in Fashion and its Social Agendas, that due to the availability of
inexpensive clothing... that those with limited resources can find or create personal styles that
express their perceptions of their identities (Crane, 2000: 6); the consumer is expected to
construct an individualised appearance from a variety of options. (Crane, 2000: 155) However,
Polhemus argues that Fashion is an arbitrary language system where things are really what they
appear to be (Polhemus, 2011: 49), suggesting that fashion is a tool used for illusion. Bovone
contributes, stating that On the stage of everyday life, the performer declares what he is... his
image is at stake and he is involved in a continuous negotiation with his fellow performers and the
audience. (Gonzalez Bovone, 2012: 72) Polhemus and Bovone both illustrate that whilst fashion

Insurable Interest Essay
What is Insurable Interest in a Maritime Insurance Policy
The term insurable interest refers to the benefit (or interest) a person has in an insured object (or
person as in a life insurance insurable interest). This benefit can refer to a financial benefit, among
others. A person has insurable interest in a thing when he or she would experience some kind of
loss (financial or otherwise) if the thing were to be damaged or lost.
Say that you have piece of jewelry in your home that is also a family heirloom. If someone were
to steal it (or if you were to drop it down the sink, or in the toilet, or even lose it in the garbage)
you would suffer different kinds of loss, both financial and emotional. Thus, you have an insurable
interest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no requirement of insurable interest when the contract is made. This section also allows
the subject matter of a marine policy to be insured lost or not lost . This means that it is possible
for the insured to recover under a marine policy even if he acquired his interest after the loss has
occurred, unless he was aware of the loss and the insurer was not. These rules reflect the practices
of marine trade where cargo frequently changes ownership in the course of transit. In this case there
is a transfer of rights i.e assignment of interest.
Assignment of Interest may be done by endorsement in blank that is to sign the policy.
Alternatively, this can be also done by signing in favor of one other person. In turn, only that person
can then claim to be the rightful owner. The law permits this unless the policy states otherwise.
However, hull policies prohibit assignment even though the marine act promotes this transfer of
rights.
An interesting fact is that companies can have insurable interest in their workers, both in higher ups
and in those lower down the ladder. There has been some controversy about this recently, where
companies took life insurance policies out on their employees without their employees consent. In
these instances, the companies collected the policies on their deceased employees, who sometimes
did not even work for them anymore.
Of course companies have

Mathematical Modeling Of A Functional Building
Mathematical Modeling of a Functional Building
Reminder Abstract should be able to be taken out of the paper and the rest of the paper still makes
sense.
Throughout architecture there is a delicate balance between functionality and aesthetics. However
a rule of thumb to follow is form follows function . Therefore for the purpose of our designed
office block, we decided to allow form to follow function for majority of our decisions, but we also
kept the aesthetics in our modeling conscious.
Abstract and introduction: what a reader would read for the goal of the paper. We did this and then
this and then this... Can divulge all the aspects of the problem, but not too much detail.
Introduction:

We finally settled on the semicircle equation because changing the height of the structure without
altering the set width, allowed for a more natural looking curve, whereas the function creates a more
pinched look. (include pictures of the buildings)
36* sin( ПЂ/ 72* x)
46* sin( ПЂ/ 72* x)
51* sin( ПЂ/ 72* x)
Ultimately, we made this choice for the purposes of this structure because it not only provides an
ideal form, but also allows for diverse functions as well.
Because we chose this graph to model the main arch of the building, we wanted to experiment in a
sense, and see how we could use this model in conjunction with the rectangular base to adhere to
potentially different functions. One of those possibilities was for the warehouse model. To start off
we just derived our original function in order to find the maximum x value, and its corresponding y
coordinate to ultimately find the volume of the warehouse at that given height of the model. The
derivative function of the semicircle for any height (greater than or equal to 36, less than or equal
to 54) is shown below:
We used this equation to generate different heights that would maximize the areaof the cuboid. We
were able to isolate just the area of the cuboid because that one face is simply projected backwards
150m, so we mathematically we were able to ignore that constant in the volume equation shown
above. With the help of Excel spreadsheets, we calculated the

I Married An Angel Mise En Scene
For this post, the first video I had chosen was Jeanette MacDonald and Binnie Barnes sang A
Twinkle in Her Eye in a 1942 musical film called I Married an Angel. By watching the clip only, I
thought the style of this recording was like an operetta. It had spoken parts to tell the light story.
The sounds that came out of the characters were very soft, even though the singing technique was
more like the one that was commonly used in operas, and the lyrics were pretty approachable.
Also, I had noticed that the acting in this piece, including dancing, was somewhat exaggerated. I
considered that those theatrical facial expressions and moves were expressed to aim to please the
audiences.
The second video I had watched was Jerry Orbach led the original cast of the 1980 Broadway
musical 42nd Street to perform Lullaby of Broadway on the Tony Awards. Clearly, there were more
dancing components involved in this show. The choreographywas great because it could well
coordinate with the lyrics and the emotion of the characters, which allowed audiences to deeply

The Theory of Absolutism Essay
The Theory of Absolutism Absolute monarchy or absolutism meant that the sovereign power or
ultimate authority in the state rested in the hands of a king who claimed to rule by divine right.
But what did sovereignty mean? Late sixteenth century political theorists believed that sovereign
power consisted of the authority to make laws, tax, administer justice, control the state s
administrative system, and determine foreign policy. These powers made a ruler sovereign. One
of the chief theorists of divine right monarchy in the seventeenth century was the French
theologian and court preacher Bishop Jacques Bossuet (1627 1704), who expressed his ideas in a

Women During The World War
The 1950s is an era remembered for the Cold War, communism, and June Cleaver. Most
historians, if asked about this period, will mention the Red Scare and the fight to stop the
pervasive reach of communism in post war America. Most feminists will recall the iconic image
of June Cleaver and the detrimental effect this perfect housewife had on the women s movement
after the massive employment of women during the Second World War. Often forgotten and
missing from the pages of history are the millions of women who were ostracized and subjected
to discrimination based upon their sexuality. These women lost federal jobs, their military careers
came to a halt, and, in some cases, were blacklisted from applying for civilian jobs. Not only were
these women forced to overcome genderinequality in order to support themselves in the
workforce, they were also ostracized by society and endured unending discrimination from the
government and police on the basis of their sexuality. In the face of this tremendous cultural
pressure these women carved their own communities and lives out on the edges of the social
order. The pervasive fear of homosexuals in the 1950s bred an era of anti gay legislation that
greatly contributed to the horrific discrimination against lesbians and the development of a lesbian
subculture. This fear, known as the Lavender Scare, led to a severe climate of oppression for the
emerging lesbian subculture following the Second World War. As a result of medical

A Comparative Study Of The Status Of Women
The declaring of 1975 85 decade as the International Women s decade also gave impetus to
women s movements for removing the notion of inferiority of women and giving them a sense
of identity. The Central Social Welfare Board (CSWB) established by the Government of India
in 1953, also promotes and strengthens volunteer efforts for the welfare of women. The Ministry
of Welfare, Government of India, too, gives grants to voluntary organizations for activities like
construction/expansion of hostels for working women in cities. The analysis of six types of
movements suggests that movements are generally initiated and spread by charismatic leaders or
by political parties and religious organizations. In the former case, the ideologies are transmitted
downwards while in the latter case, these are transmitted upwards. Once any movement based on
certain ideology changes, it is not necessary that it will spread in the course of time, it can gain

Reggio Emilia approach is centered on the interests of the child and the guidance from the teachers.
There are various opportunities that are provided to the children from a Reggio Emilia Approach.
This approach was a model of early childhood education that was based on the foundation that
would facilitate a child s learning through different ways. The ways, such as expressive,
communicative, and cognitive, were intended to progress early childhood development. This
approach was founded by a man who was an early education specialist from Reggio Emilia, a town
in North Italy. The man s name was Loris Malaguzzi. His vision attracted the world through his
project and play based curriculum. It was also based on the play of children and the guide of
educators. The overall approach is combined from principles that were based off of child centered
curriculums. These types of curriculums included parents, educators, the communities, and the
children. This formulated what was known as the environment. The environment is known to be

Occupational stress is an increasingly important occupational health problem and a significant
cause of economic loss. Occupational stress may produce both overt psychological and
physiologic disabilities. However it may also cause subtle manifestation of morbidity that can
affect personal well being and productivity (Quick, Murphy, Hurrel and Orman, 1992). A job
stressed individual is likely to have greater job dissatisfaction, increased absenteeism, increased
frequency of drinking and smoking, increase in negative psychological symptoms and reduced
aspirations and self esteem (Jick and Payne, 1980). The use of role concepts suggests that
occupational stress is associated with individual, interpersonal and structural variables (Kutz and
Kahn, 1978; Whetten, 1978). Studies on burnout found that, it is related to exhaustion and work
over load factors in various organisations (Green and Walkey, 1988; Chermiss, 1980;
Freudenberger, 1977, 1980). Stress on the job is costly for employers, reflected in lower
productivity, reduced motivation and job skills, and increased and accidents. The purpose present
study is an attempt to investigate and to compare the level of stress experienced by the employees
of the Nationalised banks in Chennai. The study aims to ascertain the level of stress and to analyse

Developments and Possiblilities of Solar Power
Solar power has been around for many years. The very first silicon based photovoltaic was
invented by Bell Labs back in 1954. At this time the cost per watt was high at $285 and in 2009
it dropped to a mere $3.00 per watt (Solar Tech USA, 2014). Solar energy dates back as far as the
2nd century with the Greeks and Romans starting fires through broken glass. Indirect benefits from
solar have been used way back to even photosynthesis (Bengtson, 2012). Passive solar energywas
used to heat building by using the design to capture the sunfor heating and lighting. Moving into
the 20th century major changes have accrued and there is now concentrating solar power
technologies for centralized solar thermal plants (Bengtson, 2012). The public believes that
solar is not yet ready to take charge and become a major source of power, yet some experts
disagree. Solar power in the 21st century has magnified many possibilities for solar use.
Photovoltaic has created a large economic benefit by reducing the cost of other resources as well
as its own for example solar heated water heaters have cut the cost of gas and electricity
(Bengtson, 2012). Germany is a great example of how solar is in huge demand and working well
to serve the consumers. Germany has 5 times the solar power the United States is currently using
although Germany does not get a great deal of sun (Brad Plumer, 2013). Germany is the world

Functionalism In The Basketball Game
I would like to start by saying the basketball game was great. That was the first game I attended
while here on exchange. Each of the theoretical perspectives were present in the game, and I was
absolutely amazed to see how theory applies to our everyday lives. Functionalism was present
because all of the players were interdependent on one another in order for the gameto run smoothly
and for them to win. They were each assigned a roll that required them to work as team. When
one player messed up or did not fulfill his or her role well another player had to step up and
adjust to keep the game going smooth. Before the game the coach tells the players the rules for the
game. They players must put any personal issues to the side, which is them giving up free will with

catching up or passing their team. In this game the players are considered the producers and the
coaches would be the people in control of the mode of production. The coaches pick the players
based on their ability to produce on the court. There is a shift in the modes of production when the
coach finds somebody that is more qualified for the position and find a player with a different

Ap World Population Chapter 1 Summary
A man named Antoni van Leeuwenhoek dropped everything and ran with his wife to his worktable
because he was viewing a sample through a glass that magnified everything to up to 100x. Nobody
else had anything that powerful.
He spent an enormous amount of time looking at spermatozoa, as they re now called.
The sample he was viewing was spermatozoa.
There were very few censuses.
A single codfish s sperm cells were numbered at 150 billion. Leeuwenhoek concluded from his
studies that there couldn t have been more than 13.385 billion people on Earth.
Historians say that when Leeuwenhoek was alive, there was only about 500,000,000 people on
Earth.
When another scientist had discovered human egg cells a century and a half later, the population
on Earth had doubled to more than a billion. At about 1930, it was at 2,000,000,000. It has been
building steadily ever since then. There are people who have seen the world population triple.

Now, scientists think the population may reach 9 billion in 2045.
About a billion people go hungry each day.
Thomas Malthus said that population would grow faster than the food supply until problems made
it decline.
But after he said population wouldn t grow fast, that s exactly what happened.
Corn, potatoes, and chemical fertilizers helped get rid of starvation.
A lot of people are underfed, but mass starvation is very rare.
Population will surge as science will spare many lives.
Today in developed countries, an average of 2.1 births per woman would maintain a steady
population.
In developed countries, 2.1 births/women would make the population steady.
The population growth rate has fallen by more than 40 percent.
The growth rate for population has dropped by greater than

Reasonabl Reasonable Suspicion In Law Enforcement
Probable cause and reasonable suspicion in law enforcement are important terms used as a
guideline to police offers or law enforcement agencies (Lushbaugh, 2012). Each officer is
required to deal with every circumstance in light of the reasonable justification. Law
enforcement officers and agencies are usually required to determine if there is sensible doubt or
probable cause that can lead them to performing and taking part of certain actions in regards to a
specific criminal circumstance. Probable cause is characterized as the activities or actions that are
obvious and directs towards being part of evidence. The confirmation of evidence is acquired and
obtained rationally in which will provide the officer with the knowledge of knowing one has
committed a crime. According to the Fourth Amendment 1791, a warrant is only issued when there
is a probable cause for arrest of a suspect (Lushbaugh, 2012).... Show more content on

Furthermore, the officer exercises perseverance and great skills, uses intuition or belief that
there is a crime committed or about to be committed (Lushbaugh, 2012). The law enforcement
officer stops and approaches the possible suspect investigates he/she in public or in their place of
residence. However, to assure safety, if the suspect happens to have possession of a weapon or
illegal item, the officer performs a search known as pat down . Reasonable suspicion in criminal
cases is followed by an elaborate and extensive investigation to prove the suspicion through
concrete evidence before conviction of a suspect (Lushbaugh, 2012). Probable cause within
criminal cases often leads to search warrants and a gathering of evidence as proof to make a
conviction of the

Jonbenet Murder Theories
An unexpected murder with unexplained evidence all surrounding a 6 year old pageant queen
named JonBenet all happening on the day after Christmas. Although there are many theories
about JonBenet, evidence shows that it was most likely her brother. Jonbenet Ramsey was a
beauty pageant queen that was found dead on the day after Christmas in a storage room in her
basement of her house in Boulder Colorado. Jonbenet was born on August 6, 1990 in Atlanta
Georgia, and was only 6 years old when she was found dead. There was a ransom note left on the
stairs addressed to the dad and when her mom woke up and came down stairs she found it and it
was asking for the exact amount of money of the bonus that the dad got earlier that year. The note
was 2 ВЅ pages long and was written from a notepad from their house. When she was found she
had various wounds, duct tape over her mouth, garrote around her neck, and she was struck in the
head which caused her to become unconscious (Conrad).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all Jonbenet had an uncontrollable bed wetting problem and one night her mom lost her
temper and struck her in a way that accidentally killed her. Another theory is that her dad
sexually harassed her and after he was afraid that she would tell someone and he would get in
trouble and later killed her. In 2006 a thailand school teacher John Mark Karr confessed to killing
Jonbenet Ramsey. In his earlier years he had child pornography charges in the us. He was
immediately dismissed as a suspect because he was only after notoriety and fame. The last theory
is that the brother was jealous of all the attention she got and on christmas he got a train set and we
stabbed her with it. There was two holes on her neck and it matched up to the train track

Assessing Secular Temperature Trends Of Hawai Д ЕҐ I
Assessing Secular Temperature Trends in HawaiК»i
May 14, 2015
(Draft) MA Thesis Proposal
By
Marie Maile McKenzie
Department of Geography
University of HawaiК»i at MДЃnoa
Abstract Large scale, global temperature analyses and climate change models may sometimes
oversimplify or generalize smaller, regional trends. Only until a few years ago, efforts on climate
change projections for island scale has intensified for more reliable assessments of various
impacts of long term climate trends (Hamilton, 2014). Temperature changes over HawaiК»i are
expected to exceed the current daily maximum values by the end of the 21st century (Lauer et
al., 2013). Mountainous tropical islands in the Hawaiian archipelago are showing greater
warming than the lower elevations (Giambelluca et al. 2008; Diaz et al. 2011, 2014). Observed
surface air temperature trends can also be used to test regionally downscaled climate models.
The goal of this thesis is to analyze climate data to assess possible trends that are likely to impact
future management of summit ecosystems. This research is essential to the effective protection
and restoration of these fragile alpine and subalpine ecosystems. The primary focus of this
research is to expand on and update the previous analysis by Giambelluca et al. (2008) by
extending the data set from 2006 through to 2014 15 in order to: (a) develop a revised HawaiК»i
Temperature Index to include the more recent data; (b) assess changes that occurred in the

The Battle Of The Philippine Sea
Background: The Battle of the Philippine Sea was an engagement between the United States
Pacific Fleet and the Japanese navy in World War II. This Battle occurred started on June 19 and
ended on June 20 in 1944. The Japanese goal at the very beginning of this conflict was to
discourage American forces by incurring such great damage to the military that the public
majority would become weary of the war and discontinue its support of the war. The loss of
support from the public would then cause the US Government to retract its forces from Japan.(
Willmott, H.P. June 1944. New York, NY: Blandford Press, 1984. ISBN 0 7137 1446 8)
Willmott 1984, p. 143.) Thesis: The Battle of the Philippine Sea was the end of Japanese
competiveness in the air. This Battle gave way to the United States ability to project its military
power further into the heart of Japan with little to no resistance from the Japanese Fleet in the
form of aerial warfare. It also left the Japanese desperate to find new ways of fighting American
naval forces in ways other than the standard convention. The Battle of the Philippine Sea was not
the decisive battle in World War II 7; however, it did help accelerate the United States takeover of
the auxiliary islands with the destruction of Japanese conventional air warfare. The Battle of The
Philippine Sea soon occurred after the death of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto. This loss of leadership
and morale for the Japanese urged others to try to turn the tide of the war

Relationship Between A Manufacturer And A Distributor
Writing Assignment #2
The relationship between a manufacturer and a distributor is a crucial part in the success of a
business alliance or partnership. It is necessary to pay close attention to the relationship between
manufacturers and distributors in terms of trust, alliances and conflict. Manufacturers and
distributors should select each other appropriately and wisely because each member of the supply
chain has different expectations for the other. The most common two paths for a manufacturer to
enter the market through distribution are exclusively and non exclusively. Information on relations
and channel paths is significant because it will be easier be able to include them in my other
projects and classes throughout the rest of academic and professional careers.
The most vital concepts I learned in IDIS 340 is how important it is for manufacturers and
distributors to choose the right business partners. Market share is the main driver for
manufacturers, so they must turn their attention to distributors that have a wide range of access to
the market. Profitability is the primary focus of distributors so they should choose manufacturers
that have a strong market brand, supply the appropriate products to meet the market s demands, and
offers a technical sales team. Sharing common goals and visions is perhaps the most significant
element in choosing how to align a manufacturer and distributor.
After aligning with proper distributors, manufacturers have expectations that they

Piaget s Theory Of Child Development
Theories of Child Development
Child development is the study of how a child s behavior and thought processes affect their
ability to develop at the proper rate. There are many factors to be considered when referring to the
development of a child as children are so easily moldable. A child starts out with a blank slate and
from then on their experiences, their social groups, parents, environment and so much more will
take part in how they will develop.
Two very influential people in psychology, Sigmund Freudand Jean Piaget, had an interesting take
on what a child goes through as they develop through each stage. Freud and Piaget both came up
with their own theories as to how a child grows cognitively throughout their life. These two
psychologists set the standard for modern day practices with Freud s realization of infants needs,
Piaget s theory of cognitive development, and how Piaget shaped child development in modern
schooling.
Sigmund Freud was one of the very first psychologists to delve into the topic of child
development; he had a very unique outlook. Initially, people agreed with his theory called the
Psychosexual Theory, which contains four stages. The first being the oral stage, this happens when
a child is an infant. The child will experience and discover new things with their mouths. ...The
infant may swallow that which is experienced as pleasant and spit out anything experienced as
unpleasant. (Garcia, 1995, p. 499) The next stage is referred to as the anal

Lucid Dreams And Information-Processing Theory
Dreaming is defined by the Barron AP Psychology Book as the series of storylike images we
experience as we sleep (McEntarffer, 2016, p. 113). Dreams come in all shapes and sizes; some
seem random and others may seem to hold more meaning. There are a wide array of dream theories
including Freudian theory, information processing theory, and activation synthesis theory as
described in the aforementioned book. Freud s perspective emphasizes the unconscious mindand
how dreams can reveal repressed memories. Similar to Freud s theory, the information processing
theory attributes dreamcontent to daily stress as the brain uses dreams to process a day s events.
The activation synthesis theory takes on a more biological perspective, focusing on how... Show

To figure out the specific applications of lucid dreaming research, Melanie Schädlich from the
University of Heidelberg in Germany and Daniel Erlacher from the University of Bern in
Switzerland collaborated on an online survey back in 2012, in which 300 frequent lucid
dreamers were asked about possible benefits of lucid dreaming as it pertains to their daily lives.
The results are as follow: The most frequent application (81.4%) was having fun, followed by
changing a bad dream or nightmare into a pleasant one (63.8%), solving problems (29.9%),
getting creative ideas or insights (27.6%) and practicing skills (21.3%) (p. 134). For this reason,
lucid dreaming could prove to be a useful tool in combating nightmares or fears, and it may even
prove a useful tool in therapy further down the road if scientists continue to research it and figure

With the goal of ensuring that all preschools in California offer highquality programs, the California
Department of Education collaborated with leading early childhood educators, researchers,
advocates, and parents to develop Volume 2 of the preschool learning foundations. The foundations
outline key knowlВ edge and skills that most children can achieve when provided with the kinds of
interactions, instruction, and environments shown by research to promote early learning and
developВ ment. Volume 2 focuses on three domains: visual and performing arts, physical
development, and health. These domains often receive less attention than some of the other
domains, but they are equally important for preschool children s overall learning and development.
As research that is summarized in this volume indicates, physical v vi exercise and healthy routines
and nutritional choices set the stage for lifelong healthy habits. The recent NAEYC report
underscores the need for children to play outside, use their large muscles, and engage in vigorous
physical activities every day. Of course, the visual and performing arts fuel both preschool children
s imaginative play and creativity and also promote learning in all domains, including physical skill
development, cognitive development, and social emotional development. I believe that these
foundations will help guide and support all California preschools in providing developmentally

How Did Woodrow Wilson Become Conservative
New Nationalism In 1907, major firms in the stock market declared bankruptcy, leading to an
event called the Panic of 1907. This caused a recession, or a decline in spending and employment.
Many business leaders blamed this financial crisis on the Progressive reforms of Roosevelt. The
economy recovered by 1909, casting some doubt on these previous accusations. However,
Roosevelt lost the nomination for a third term and left the presidency in 1909. William Howard
Taft, Roosevelt s successor, became the next president, but he angered many progressive
Republicans by not being firm enough in controlling big business. As a result, a progressive faction,
or offshoot, formed in the Republican Party. This development created tension between progressives

In response, Congress passed the Underwood Tariff Act in 1913. This act lowered the average
rates of tariffs from 40 percent to 25 percent. The law also removed tariffs entirely from certain
goods such as sugar, wool, iron ore, and steel. This allowed the prices of those imported goods to
compete with similar products of American producers, which benefited American consumers.
Banking Wilson also argued for an extensive reform of banking and currency laws. He thought
that the banking system needed to run more efficiently to enhance businesses. To accomplish
this, Wilson supported the establishment of a nationwide centralized banking system. He also
believed that a new federal currency was needed to assist the flow of money. Six months later,
Congress passed the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, which formed a national banking and currency
system similar to the one Wilson supported. Twelve Federal Reserve Banks were created with the
authority to issue Federal Bank Notes, the official U.S. currency, to nationally chartered private
banks. Those banks were able to borrow the money at a fixed interest rate. The rate did not rise
during the period when the loan was repaid. This kept the banking system

Managed Care Payment Systems
Managed Care Payment System: A Critique
Richard Schulz
HCS 521 Health Care Infrastructure
University of Phoenix
Professor Jay Littleton
December 9, 2006
Introduction Individual payments for health care services received have undergone many
changes over the past one hundred and fifty years in this country. For many years a fee for
service system was in place. This was acceptable at the time because costs were low. However,
as costs began to rise, changes in the system occurred as well. Private insurance companies started
to form in the 1920s to help consumers afford medical care when needed. Through several
evolutions over the years and due to increased costs of medical care, we saw new market oriented
public policy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Compared to Medicare fee for service, managed care plans typically cover more services and
impose lower out of pocket costs but is limited to the providers authorized by their plan (Scanlon,
1998). The question of quality of care and services provided started to chink away at the armor of
managed care.
The Balance Budget Act also played a role in determining the amount of services to be offered.
Research proved that plans were being overcompensated. Discrepancies arose from a wide
difference of payments due to location. The BBA realigned how it made payments for managed
care. The result may be a decrease in services provided (Scanlon, 1998). The dissatisfaction with
managed care for some consumers has resulted in the change of some insurance plans altogether.
Significant numbers of health plans have reduced their reliance on managed care tools at a time
when health insurance premiums have returned to double digit rates of growth in many markets.
Faced with fewer instruments for curbing utilization and constraining provider payments, health
plans have attempted to mitigate premium growth by shifting costs to consumers. These
developments promise to lighten the administrative and financial burdens that managed care has
imposes on physicians and hospitals, while leading consumers to

  • 2. Family Dynamics Chapter Summary Reading reaction 2 This chapter tell us about what they called the creator of the family movement Mr. Bowen. In this chapters the lectors could find the theoretical formulations where some angles are form to describe the union or functions of the family and how they are connected to each other (e.g., emotional triangles, process, cutoff, society, genogram, differentiation, etc.) and so forth, (Nichols M. 2017; pg. 71 87). Personally as we all grow and learn from each chapter of the book every information is important on our careers. The information that I most retain in this chapter are the theoretical formulations and strategies that will help us understand the family dynamics. Chapter five tells us family problem solving; there is a six steps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The information that was new to me is the six steps models. As professionals we need to learn all the information and techniques that we can apply to the benefit of the family. Chapter six talks about structural theory this is important because every family has a structural base in place; some concept are boundaries, subsystems, alignments, and complementary which are easy to apply in therapy. The family structure is how is the interaction of the family, then how they interact with each other and their own personal boundaries between each other. To be able to provide an effective outcome in family therapy is imperative to consider the entire family members. The chapter provide a guideline for structural family assessment as we can observe in page 120 (Nichols M. 2017). The information provided in this chapter open the view of observing the interaction within the family members and how it relates to the conflicts. All the information in this book it is imperative, however, the family assessment was a good key for us as beginners. Learning all this material help us grow as professionals in our careers. • 3. Compare The Rate Law For The Reaction Between Crystal... Rate Law for the reaction crystal violet and hydroxide ions Objective This experiment was to determine the rate law for the crystal violet with hydroxyl ions reaction. Materials Crystal violet dye, sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and spectrophotometer were used in this experiment. Theory The rate of reaction is a topic in chemical kinetics that explains the speed at which the chemicals interact or it is the rate at which a product is formed by a chemical reaction. There are factors that determine the rate of a particular reaction. These factors include; reactant concentration, the temperature of the reaction and presence or absence of a catalyst. Most chemical reactions increase in speed as the concentration of the reactant increases. This is because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because the moles of crystal violet dye react with the hydroxyl ions present in sodium hydroxide (Wheeler and Sigmann 328). The slopes of both the first order and second order graphs of In (concentration) against time gave the rate constant (k) of each reactant. For the first order absorbance reaction, the concentration of sodium hydroxide was 0.01M, which has a reaction rate constant of 0.055 (mol dm 3 s 1) while the reaction rate constant of the first order absorbance where the concentration of sodium hydroxide, 0.020M, was 0.095 (mol dm 3 s 1). When rate constant (NaOH 0.01M) was divided by (NaOH 0.020M) gave 0.579 (mol dm 3 s 1). The functional change of y as the concentration rate changes is calculated to be 0.8. Therefore, the order of reaction with respect to the hydroxyl ions was 0.8. Conclusion In this experiment, the reaction order with respect to hydroxyl ions was calculated. The comparison of rate 1 (initial concentration) and rate two (second concentration) showed that the value of y which is the rate of reaction in respect to hydroxyl ions was 0.8. Therefore, the order of reaction with respect to hydroxide ions was 0.8. By using the graphical method, the value of x=1. x represents the order of reaction with respect to dye(crystal violet). The overall rate law was found to be; Rate=k [crystal violet] 1[hydroxide ions] ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eddie holds an old fashioned, limited view of masculinity. His opinions of what it means to be masculine involve fairly stereotypical features, such as strength and ability. Characteristics that people generally associate with a male figure are strength, silent. The time that they play is set in doesn t help to widen Eddie s view of masculinity. The area, Redhook, is described by the lawyer Alfieri. But this is Redhook, not Sicily. This is the slum that faces the bay on the seaward side of Brooklyn Bridge...the gullet of New York swallowing the tonnage of the world . It accommodated some of the worst people of the time, and though there were laws the country was controlled by gangsters. In those days, Al Capone, the greatest Carthaginian of all, was learning his trade on these pavements, and Frankie Yale himself was cut precisely in half by a machine gun on the corner of Union Street, two blocks away . This would maybe inspire Eddie to act tough and strong. He understands that these gangsters are undeniably very masculine figures and that may affect him. All the immigrants came to this area, that s why the community was so close knit. It is also why it was so devastating to betray family or friends by reporting immigrants. When Eddie warns Catherine not to say anything about the illegal immigrants coming to stay with them he tells the story of a boy who reported his uncle. The whole neighbourhood was cryin . For example, the author must ask, where is the story going to take place? Are there any special rules for this world? What is the mood of the story? By using the theme as a guide, the author decides what to share with the audience and what to hold back. This gives the story meaning, and it is what makes the story memorable (Tanemura). The second most frequent source of business aircraft services is charter flights. Charter is very flexible and can be especially effective in supporting specific purposes. Less connectivity to many emerging markets like eastern Europe renders the commercial flights a highly unlikely mode for the business traveler. Several reputable companies have geared up to meet that need. Global Aviation, based in Singapore, is working closely with China Southern Airways to provide access to 80 destinations within the People s Republic of China. In 1996, Jet Aviation opened full service facilities in Singapore. Dassault Falcon Jet is also involved in Hong Kong based charter services that support Pacific rim business travelers. The other main concern about using charter services is the cost. Charter services are usually more expensive than the airlines or the use of comparable business aircraft for a specific trip. However, they are a lot less expensive than owning an aircraft for a hundred hours or so of use per year. The third business aircraft access option is the fastest growing segment of business aviation: fractional aircraft ownership. Fractional share ownership is what its name implies: You can buy as little as an eighth of an aircraft, with an allocation of 100 passenger hours of use. The costs include the initial capital investment, monthly fixed charges and per flight hour charges. In view of the above stated needs of the consumer, the Gulfstream Aerospace plans to ... Theme Of Satan In Paradise Lost Sympathy for Satan An Emotional Monster (Analysis of Satan both psychological and physically as he is portrayed in Milton s Paradise Lost) In John Milton s Paradise Lost, Satan is one of the major figures of the book. The poem s intense focus on his temperament portrays psychological information of someone with a conflictive personality, one that pushes and pulls at his emotions. Differing from his fellow fallen angels, he has no regrets for his decisions and is a fearless leader, but in private his deeper, darker thoughts take hold. Lisa Ampleman, a managing editor of the Cincinnati Review says he is not the absolute evil we may have expected, and a sympathetic devil is a dangerous devil (Ampleman). Satan knows this to be true and inevitable in the eyes of God. Satan says them himself through his soliloquies. Barbara Lewalski, author of Paradise Lost and the Rhetoric of Literary Forms says that Satan s soliloquy here still carries with it the literary significance in terms of his position in the poem, the often insightful and emotional confession, as well as the overall impact of the tragedy itself (Lewalski). Both can be difficult to clearly define and distinguish when analyzing an organization. A strong organizational culture holds key values that are shared with all members. It is the responsibility of leaders to uphold an organization s culture to ensure that there is a proper foundation that binds the structure. Organizational Structure Any organization should have its own operating structure in order to reach success. Organizational structure is defined as a hierarchy of people that determine roles of authority, communications, and the duties of an organization (Robbins et al., 2013). Organizations must organize their structure to meet the needs of that particular organization, and assure that it resembles the values instilled by the organizational culture. The development of culture through an organization is a natural process that is dependent upon the instilled values of the leaders and members in the organization (O Neil, 2011). • 14. Class Struggle In Hamlet Throughout history, class divisions have always been a big issue. Many works today display social inequality; however, to realize it, one has to look through the right lens. Literary critical lenses help to see a work from a different angle which leads to a better analysis of the composition. There are many different lenses and aspects in literature, and one of them is the Marxist Theory. Also known as the Conflict Theory, this idea claims that class struggle is a big divider in society. Although it is more of a cultural idea, this concept also applies to literature. In his play Hamlet, William Shakespeare clearly demonstrates the idea of class struggles; looking at this composition through the lens of the Marxist Theory, one uncovers that the powerful ones suppress and manipulates the others in an attempt to display their superiority. Class struggle is really obvious in Hamlet. The royals exploit and use the lower class in order to achieve their goals. People from the working class obey the Aristocrats commands and they do not have a big importance in their society. These rules reflect the practices of marine trade where cargo frequently changes ownership in the course of transit. In this case there is a transfer of rights i.e assignment of interest. Assignment of Interest may be done by endorsement in blank that is to sign the policy. Alternatively, this can be also done by signing in favor of one other person. In turn, only that person can then claim to be the rightful owner. The law permits this unless the policy states otherwise. However, hull policies prohibit assignment even though the marine act promotes this transfer of rights. An interesting fact is that companies can have insurable interest in their workers, both in higher ups and in those lower down the ladder. There has been some controversy about this recently, where companies took life insurance policies out on their employees without their employees consent. In these instances, the companies collected the policies on their deceased employees, who sometimes did not even work for them anymore. Of course companies have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Mathematical Modeling Of A Functional Building Mathematical Modeling of a Functional Building Reminder Abstract should be able to be taken out of the paper and the rest of the paper still makes sense. Throughout architecture there is a delicate balance between functionality and aesthetics. However a rule of thumb to follow is form follows function . Therefore for the purpose of our designed office block, we decided to allow form to follow function for majority of our decisions, but we also kept the aesthetics in our modeling conscious. Abstract and introduction: what a reader would read for the goal of the paper. We did this and then this and then this... Can divulge all the aspects of the problem, but not too much detail. We finally settled on the semicircle equation because changing the height of the structure without altering the set width, allowed for a more natural looking curve, whereas the function creates a more pinched look. (include pictures of the buildings) 36* sin( ПЂ/ 72* x) 46* sin( ПЂ/ 72* x) 51* sin( ПЂ/ 72* x) Ultimately, we made this choice for the purposes of this structure because it not only provides an ideal form, but also allows for diverse functions as well. Because we chose this graph to model the main arch of the building, we wanted to experiment in a sense, and see how we could use this model in conjunction with the rectangular base to adhere to potentially different functions. One of those possibilities was for the warehouse model. To start off we just derived our original function in order to find the maximum x value, and its corresponding y coordinate to ultimately find the volume of the warehouse at that given height of the model. The derivative function of the semicircle for any height (greater than or equal to 36, less than or equal to 54) is shown below: We used this equation to generate different heights that would maximize the areaof the cuboid. We were able to isolate just the area of the cuboid because that one face is simply projected backwards 150m, so we mathematically we were able to ignore that constant in the volume equation shown above. • 30. I Married An Angel Mise En Scene For this post, the first video I had chosen was Jeanette MacDonald and Binnie Barnes sang A Twinkle in Her Eye in a 1942 musical film called I Married an Angel. By watching the clip only, I thought the style of this recording was like an operetta. It had spoken parts to tell the light story. The sounds that came out of the characters were very soft, even though the singing technique was more like the one that was commonly used in operas, and the lyrics were pretty approachable. Also, I had noticed that the acting in this piece, including dancing, was somewhat exaggerated. I considered that those theatrical facial expressions and moves were expressed to aim to please the audiences. The second video I had watched was Jerry Orbach led the original cast of the 1980 Broadway musical 42nd Street to perform Lullaby of Broadway on the Tony Awards. Clearly, there were more dancing components involved in this show. The choreographywas great because it could well coordinate with the lyrics and the emotion of the characters, which allowed audiences to deeply engage in the show. Also, the storyline was relatively clear, I could easily understand what was happening at that moment without knowing the context. But I was shocked by the ... The Theory of Absolutism Essay The Theory of Absolutism Absolute monarchy or absolutism meant that the sovereign power or ultimate authority in the state rested in the hands of a king who claimed to rule by divine right. But what did sovereignty mean? Late sixteenth century political theorists believed that sovereign power consisted of the authority to make laws, tax, administer justice, control the state s administrative system, and determine foreign policy. These powers made a ruler sovereign. One of the chief theorists of divine right monarchy in the seventeenth century was the French theologian and court preacher Bishop Jacques Bossuet (1627 1704), who expressed his ideas in a book entitled Politics Drawn from the Very Words of Holy ... Louis proved willing to pay the price of being a strong ruler . He established a consci entious routine from which he seldom deviated, but he did not look upon his duties as drudgery since he judged his royal profession to be grand, noble, and delightful. • 32. Women During The World War The 1950s is an era remembered for the Cold War, communism, and June Cleaver. Most historians, if asked about this period, will mention the Red Scare and the fight to stop the pervasive reach of communism in post war America. Most feminists will recall the iconic image of June Cleaver and the detrimental effect this perfect housewife had on the women s movement after the massive employment of women during the Second World War. Often forgotten and missing from the pages of history are the millions of women who were ostracized and subjected to discrimination based upon their sexuality. These women lost federal jobs, their military careers came to a halt, and, in some cases, were blacklisted from applying for civilian jobs. Not only were these women forced to overcome genderinequality in order to support themselves in the workforce, they were also ostracized by society and endured unending discrimination from the government and police on the basis of their sexuality. In the face of this tremendous cultural pressure these women carved their own communities and lives out on the edges of the social order. The pervasive fear of homosexuals in the 1950s bred an era of anti gay legislation that greatly contributed to the horrific discrimination against lesbians and the development of a lesbian subculture. This fear, known as the Lavender Scare, led to a severe climate of oppression for the emerging lesbian subculture following the Second World War. As a result of medical ... A job stressed individual is likely to have greater job dissatisfaction, increased absenteeism, increased frequency of drinking and smoking, increase in negative psychological symptoms and reduced aspirations and self esteem (Jick and Payne, 1980). The use of role concepts suggests that occupational stress is associated with individual, interpersonal and structural variables (Kutz and Kahn, 1978; Whetten, 1978). Studies on burnout found that, it is related to exhaustion and work over load factors in various organisations (Green and Walkey, 1988; Chermiss, 1980; Freudenberger, 1977, 1980). • 36. Developments and Possiblilities of Solar Power Solar power has been around for many years. The very first silicon based photovoltaic was invented by Bell Labs back in 1954. At this time the cost per watt was high at $285 and in 2009 it dropped to a mere $3.00 per watt (Solar Tech USA, 2014). Solar energy dates back as far as the 2nd century with the Greeks and Romans starting fires through broken glass. Indirect benefits from solar have been used way back to even photosynthesis (Bengtson, 2012). Passive solar energywas used to heat building by using the design to capture the sunfor heating and lighting. Moving into the 20th century major changes have accrued and there is now concentrating solar power technologies for centralized solar thermal plants (Bengtson, 2012). The public believes that solar is not yet ready to take charge and become a major source of power, yet some experts disagree. Solar power in the 21st century has magnified many possibilities for solar use. Photovoltaic has created a large economic benefit by reducing the cost of other resources as well as its own for example solar heated water heaters have cut the cost of gas and electricity (Bengtson, 2012). Germany is a great example of how solar is in huge demand and working well to serve the consumers. Germany has 5 times the solar power the United States is currently using although Germany does not get a great deal of sun (Brad Plumer, 2013). Assessing Secular Temperature Trends Of Hawai Д ЕҐ I Assessing Secular Temperature Trends in HawaiК»i May 14, 2015 (Draft) MA Thesis Proposal By Marie Maile McKenzie Department of Geography University of HawaiК»i at MДЃnoa Abstract Large scale, global temperature analyses and climate change models may sometimes oversimplify or generalize smaller, regional trends. Only until a few years ago, efforts on climate change projections for island scale has intensified for more reliable assessments of various impacts of long term climate trends (Hamilton, 2014). Temperature changes over HawaiК»i are expected to exceed the current daily maximum values by the end of the 21st century (Lauer et al., 2013). Mountainous tropical islands in the Hawaiian archipelago are showing greater warming than the lower elevations (Giambelluca et al. 2008; Diaz et al. 2011, 2014). Observed surface air temperature trends can also be used to test regionally downscaled climate models. The goal of this thesis is to analyze climate data to assess possible trends that are likely to impact future management of summit ecosystems. This research is essential to the effective protection and restoration of these fragile alpine and subalpine ecosystems. The primary focus of this research is to expand on and update the previous analysis by Giambelluca et al. (2008) by extending the data set from 2006 through to 2014 15 in order to: (a) develop a revised HawaiК»i Temperature Index to include the more recent data; (b) assess changes that occurred in the ... This Battle occurred started on June 19 and ended on June 20 in 1944. The Japanese goal at the very beginning of this conflict was to discourage American forces by incurring such great damage to the military that the public majority would become weary of the war and discontinue its support of the war. The loss of support from the public would then cause the US Government to retract its forces from Japan.( Willmott, H.P. June 1944. New York, NY: Blandford Press, 1984. This Battle gave way to the United States ability to project its military power further into the heart of Japan with little to no resistance from the Japanese Fleet in the form of aerial warfare. It also left the Japanese desperate to find new ways of fighting American naval forces in ways other than the standard convention. The Battle of the Philippine Sea was not the decisive battle in World War II 7; however, it did help accelerate the United States takeover of the auxiliary islands with the destruction of Japanese conventional air warfare. Relationship Between A Manufacturer And A Distributor Writing Assignment #2 The relationship between a manufacturer and a distributor is a crucial part in the success of a business alliance or partnership. It is necessary to pay close attention to the relationship between manufacturers and distributors in terms of trust, alliances and conflict. Manufacturers and distributors should select each other appropriately and wisely because each member of the supply chain has different expectations for the other. The most common two paths for a manufacturer to enter the market through distribution are exclusively and non exclusively. Information on relations and channel paths is significant because it will be easier be able to include them in my other projects and classes throughout the rest of academic and professional careers. The most vital concepts I learned in IDIS 340 is how important it is for manufacturers and distributors to choose the right business partners. Market share is the main driver for manufacturers, so they must turn their attention to distributors that have a wide range of access to the market. Profitability is the primary focus of distributors so they should choose manufacturers that have a strong market brand, supply the appropriate products to meet the market s demands, and offers a technical sales team. Sharing common goals and visions is perhaps the most significant element in choosing how to align a manufacturer and distributor. After aligning with proper distributors, manufacturers have expectations that they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A child starts out with a blank slate and from then on their experiences, their social groups, parents, environment and so much more will take part in how they will develop. Two very influential people in psychology, Sigmund Freudand Jean Piaget, had an interesting take on what a child goes through as they develop through each stage. Freud and Piaget both came up with their own theories as to how a child grows cognitively throughout their life. These two psychologists set the standard for modern day practices with Freud s realization of infants needs, Piaget s theory of cognitive development, and how Piaget shaped child development in modern schooling. Sigmund Freud was one of the very first psychologists to delve into the topic of child development; he had a very unique outlook. Initially, people agreed with his theory called the Psychosexual Theory, which contains four stages. The first being the oral stage, this happens when a child is an infant. The child will experience and discover new things with their mouths. ...The infant may swallow that which is experienced as pleasant and spit out anything experienced as unpleasant. (Garcia, 1995, p. 499) The next stage is referred to as the anal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dreams come in all shapes and sizes; some seem random and others may seem to hold more meaning. There are a wide array of dream theories including Freudian theory, information processing theory, and activation synthesis theory as described in the aforementioned book. Freud s perspective emphasizes the unconscious mindand how dreams can reveal repressed memories. Similar to Freud s theory, the information processing theory attributes dreamcontent to daily stress as the brain uses dreams to process a day s events. The activation synthesis theory takes on a more biological perspective, focusing on how... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 55. How Did Woodrow Wilson Become Conservative New Nationalism In 1907, major firms in the stock market declared bankruptcy, leading to an event called the Panic of 1907. This caused a recession, or a decline in spending and employment. Many business leaders blamed this financial crisis on the Progressive reforms of Roosevelt. The economy recovered by 1909, casting some doubt on these previous accusations. However, Roosevelt lost the nomination for a third term and left the presidency in 1909. William Howard Taft, Roosevelt s successor, became the next president, but he angered many progressive Republicans by not being firm enough in controlling big business. As a result, a progressive faction, or offshoot, formed in the Republican Party. This development created tension between progressives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In response, Congress passed the Underwood Tariff Act in 1913. This act lowered the average rates of tariffs from 40 percent to 25 percent. The law also removed tariffs entirely from certain goods such as sugar, wool, iron ore, and steel. This allowed the prices of those imported goods to compete with similar products of American producers, which benefited American consumers. Banking Wilson also argued for an extensive reform of banking and currency laws. He thought that the banking system needed to run more efficiently to enhance businesses. To accomplish this, Wilson supported the establishment of a nationwide centralized banking system. He also believed that a new federal currency was needed to assist the flow of money. Six months later, Congress passed the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, which formed a national banking and currency system similar to the one Wilson supported. Twelve Federal Reserve Banks were created with the authority to issue Federal Bank Notes, the official U.S. currency, to nationally chartered private banks. Those banks were able to borrow the money at a fixed interest rate. The rate did not rise during the period when the loan was repaid. This kept the banking system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Managed Care Payment Systems Managed Care Payment System: A Critique Richard Schulz HCS 521 Health Care Infrastructure University of Phoenix Professor Jay Littleton December 9, 2006 Introduction Individual payments for health care services received have undergone many changes over the past one hundred and fifty years in this country. For many years a fee for service system was in place. This was acceptable at the time because costs were low. However, as costs began to rise, changes in the system occurred as well. Private insurance companies started to form in the 1920s to help consumers afford medical care when needed. Through several evolutions over the years and due to increased costs of medical care, we saw new market oriented public policy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Compared to Medicare fee for service, managed care plans typically cover more services and impose lower out of pocket costs but is limited to the providers authorized by their plan (Scanlon, 1998). The question of quality of care and services provided started to chink away at the armor of managed care. The Balance Budget Act also played a role in determining the amount of services to be offered. Research proved that plans were being overcompensated. Discrepancies arose from a wide difference of payments due to location. The BBA realigned how it made payments for managed care. The result may be a decrease in services provided (Scanlon, 1998). The dissatisfaction with managed care for some consumers has resulted in the change of some insurance plans altogether. Significant numbers of health plans have reduced their reliance on managed care tools at a time when health insurance premiums have returned to double digit rates of growth in many markets. Faced with fewer instruments for curbing utilization and constraining provider payments, health plans have attempted to mitigate premium growth by shifting costs to consumers. These developments promise to lighten the administrative and financial burdens that managed care has imposes on physicians and hospitals, while leading consumers to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
