2. How To Prevent Lyme Disease
People living in the Northeast area with high incidence need to have an adequate
level of susceptibility. Recognizing risky environments need to be followed by
various type of precautions. Lyme disease is a zoonotic disease that can cause a
range of symptoms including rash, joint pain, neurological and cardiac manifestation.
Knowing the complications and the severity of Lyme disease, people would then be
more proactive in implementing preventive measurements. The CDC recommends
clothing attire be long pants and socks, light colored clothes when outdoors. The
simplest method to prevent Lyme disease is to avoid having contact with ticks when
traveling to Ixodes tick infested areas. That can be accomplished by avoiding
predisposed areas during
3. Persuasive Speech On Caseworkers
Today I decided to get an extra eight hours that I missed over break. I usually do not
come in on Mondays due to my class schedule won t allow me. I looked at YES
reports all day. I filed for one of the caseworkers because she was behind in
paperwork. I had to hole punch paperwork and file them in clients file. She had a
lot of paperwork that needed to be filed so I had a project to do for the entire day.
The office was very quiet as usually, especially since people were getting caught up
on end of the month paperwork. As I filed the paperwork I noticed a form that had
many numbers on it. The caseworkers have to document how much time they spent
with their client in one month. This is important because caseworkers need to make
they sure they have accurate time spent with their clients to go over legal
documents, court dates, progress with treatments, and more. Also, I did not know
that the caseworkers get paid for how many miles they drive for each client. I know
that the caseworkers for the outer clients get paid more because homes and schools
are far distances in the outer counties. In order to get paid for mileage the caseworker
must either begin her visits at the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Chicago for thirty minutes and I knew she was excited to explore Chicago after the

Abstract: In this paper we present a load measurement scheme for home energy
management system with energy demand management. The proposed system will
have control of various appliances that are available in the home. It manages
household loads according to their predefined priority and guarantees the total
household power consumption below certain levels. The home energy management
system will receive the demand response from the utility side. The goal of the
system is to encourage the consumer to use less energy during peak hours or to
move the time of energy use to off peak times such as nighttime and weekends.
Thus the high peak to average ratio (PAR) of power will be avoided and also we
adopt real time pricing. The utility company use real time dynamic pricing to
coordinate demand responses to the benefit of the overall system. Hence for this
purpose we need to measure the power consumed by the various appliances that are
available in the home.
Keywords: Load Measurement, Home Energy Management System, Demand
Response, Real Time Pricing.

Liquefied...
A series of articles have been published from the Yeungnam University mainly led
by Long and Lee that relates to the incorporation of dividing wall columns into the
separation of liquefied natural gas. Each base case had slight variances and the
proposed dividing wall column design was also distinctive.
1.5.1.1 First case study
Figure 29 Double Dividing Wall Column for Natural Gasseparation (Long and Lee
2011)
In this natural gas liquid (LNG) separation study conducted by Long and Lee (2011),
the base separation system includes a sequence of depropaniser, debutanizer and
deisobutanizer which separated a system the includes ethane, propane, n butane, i
butane and heavies (C5+) (Long and Lee 2011). The demethanizer and deethanizer
was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This arrangement reduced energy costs by 30.5%, which is a large jump from the
previous sequence but there are no logical explanations provides as to how they
reached this particular arrangement. The three columns were then integrated into a
single Agrawal column (figure 20) with a pressure of 14 bar, but this resulted in the
required energy increasing by 13.5% from the conventional sequence showing the
unsuitability of integrating the three columns into one (Long and Lee 2011).
1.5.1.2 Second case study
In a second study conducted by Long and Lee (2012), they aimed at optimising and
integrating a deethanizer and depropaniser, which operate at 30.98 and 17.5 bar
respectively. The inspiration of this particular study came from a patented
document conducted in 1996 that presented improvements in demethanizing and
deethanizing stages of Liquefied Natural Gas separation (Manley 1997). This can
be challenging as a balance between a high and low pressure must be found when
integrating the two columns into a single dividing wall column. A high pressure
will increase the temperature of the top stream and lower refrigerant cost but
column and equipment wall thickness will have to be significantly increased. So a
balance between the operating and capital cost must be found with the selection of
operating pressure. However Long and Lee (2012) opted to go with a low pressure of
17.5bar to minimise capital costs and reboiler duties resulting in a 31.74% decrease
in operating
6. Clockwork Orange Punishment
Nietzsche s Good and Evil Taken to the Extreme in the Chaotic Society of A
Clockwork Orange.
When it comes to a prime example of questioning morality in Kubrick s films A
Clockwork Orange is a go to case study of free will and the morality of judgement and
punishment. The film is an analysis of humanity and explores topics such as aversion
therapy which is not just a dystopian fantasy but exists in the real world. It analyses
punishment and examines the justice system both with portraying the classic
punishment method like the prison and the rehabilitation method.
Gehkre states that:
The clockwork metaphor has long been a tradition of western sciences, both physical
and social. Dreams of predicting and controlling human behaviour have ... Show more

With the help of Alex s perspective, the film also criticises the choices society makes.
Going back to Nietzsche s views on morality, it is worth noting that he condemns the
Judeo Christian morality as too strict and unhealthy. However, using that philosophy
A Clockwork Orange again shows the opposite as the society and law system s
ethics are very much radical and they believe that the only way they could eradicate
the crime and chaos in society is to take people s right of choice. In their criminology
analysis of A Clockwork OrangeLichtenberg, Lune and McManimon (2004) sum
up the main issue concerned in the film with the statemen confirmed by the prison
chaplain that: If there is no choice, there is no morality. Therefore, Kubrick s film
focuses on some important questions and problems that are shown as issues of a
dystopian society but are also truly problems present in contemporary society as
well such as: could the spectator blame the establishment for being cruel and
immoral if they are trying their hardest to eradicate relentless crime or is taking
someone s free will and right to choose an inhuman thing to do overall? The title of
the film ties in with Alex s journey and character development as he is transformed
and programmed as a machine not able to
7. And the Winner Is....the North!
Though it is very clear that the American Civil War was won by the North, not
every person may agree. Many may argue that the South won due to countless
reasons, most being slavery related. However, it is very clear who the true winner of
the war was: the North. Sure, they may not have ended up with everything that they
wanted from the South by the end of the war, but overall they did win freedom. The
South, though they did get some advantages in the final compromise, did not win
what they were fighting for or the country that they had hoped for in the end. The
Union was the real winner of the Civil War, because of what they were ultimately
fighting for. It is without question that the North truly did end up on top after the
Civil War. Though they had their downfalls every now and then, they most certainly
had their triumphs throughout the war; and those very triumphs caused a ripple
effect toward the future of the United States. During the war, the North had many
advantages that the South did not. For one, the Union had extremely superior
resources which made the outcome completely inevitable (Lecture notes). Financial,
economic, and manpower resources were all helpful to the North, and they most
definitely set up a victory from the get go. The fact that Lincoln and Grant worked
together very well was also to the North s advantage, because neither of them had
any motives of control as Jefferson Davis of the South did. During Grant s time in
the war, he and Lincoln

The sliding doors to the flight deck shot open and there stood a suited Liam Payne

Louis for a moment thought about dying in space, contrary to popular believe you
didn t die instantly if someone you removed your helmet or got a leak in your suit,
no. You didn t spontaneously combust like a car in an action film, instead you
swelled like a balloon, blood slowly bubbling. You still wouldn t die straight away.
It was like drowning, it would take a minute or two. Maybe that was the kind of
flower wilting death Zayn had been talking about.
In space the two boys drifted weightless. The only think keeping them to their ship
was a tether and a damn lot of shear faith in it. Louis and Liam both flanked the ship,
taking different areas and moving to inspect the outside of the ship. Louis and Liam
both turned on the communication radio within their suits.
Anything out there? Louis heard Zayn s voice beside his ear. Even out here he couldn
t get away from the sodding guy.
I see a shit tone of space and a whole lot of nothing wrong with the ship, Louis
quipped as he clung to the guide rails on the outside of the ship, trying to get closer
to the engine. If anything was wrong he should be able to see, and then all hell broke
loose.
It started with Niall s voice, speaking in his ear though not really addressing anyone.
What the bloody hell is that?

9. The Physics of a Diesel Engine Essay
The Physics of a Diesel Engine
The world we live in is surrounded by diesel engines. They are on the freeways,
railways, airways, and are one of the leading electricity producers in the world. They
are also becoming more popular in automobiles. These engines are efficient and
reliable and they are getting very sophisticated. However, the physics behind these
engines has not changed.
By way of definition, courtesy of Diesel Engine
Engineering: [a] diesel engine is an internal combustion engine in which the chemical
energy of fuel is transformed into thermal energy of the cylinder charge, in
consequence of the self ignition and combustion of fuel in the engine cylinder after
compression of the air charge in the cylinder (p1 ... Show more content on

The piston then travels down pulling in fresh air, (third stroke), after the piston
bottoms again it travels up compressing the fresh air, (fourth stroke). The fuel is then
injected and one cycle is completed in 720 degrees or two full rotations of the
crankshaft.
The disadvantage of two stroke engines is their dependency on a blower to force air
into the chamber and their inefficiency. A four stroke engine does not have an
expansion stroke every 360 degrees but it is more efficient because it has more time
to completely burn the fuel injected into the cylinder.
There are mechanical and fundamental differences between the two stroke and four
stroke engines but the physics remain the same. They both rely upon the
compressed air to ignite the pressurized fuel and the resulting expansion for their
power. At first glance it may look like the explosion in the chamber does the work
but upon further inspection you can see the physics involved. There are two
questions I would like to address. The first question is what is the physics behind the
compressed air raising the temperature upwards of 900 degrees. The second question
is what is the physics behind the rapid expansion of the ignited air fuel mixture.
The physics behind the temperature increase of compressed air begins with a fresh
charge of air. The air fills the combustion chamber when the cylinder is at bottom
dead center. As the
10. The Demand For House Purchases
(a)The main factors that determine the demand for house purchases: Income
Houses are classified as normal goods, therefore the demand for them becomes
greater as real income increases. Substitutes If there are cheaper alternatives (e.g.
renting), the demand for house purchases will decrease. Expected future prices If
prices are assumed to rise in a subsequent period the demand now increases. On the
contrary, if there are expectations of later price decrease then consumers will retime
their purchases and buy in the future. Expected future income The demand might
go up if expected future income grows. Population The demand is bigger in larger
markets. Tastes Consumers preferences affect the demand. If a good (a house) is
considered to be of primary importance the demand for it will increase. Interest
rates If affordable mortgages are available more people will have the opportunity to
purchase a house, therefore the demand will increase. (b)The main factors that
determine the supply of houses for sale: Expectations of prices in the future If prices
are predicted to raise suppliers get encouraged to reduce supply now and sell the
houses later with a higher profit. Costs of production factors When the prices of
production go up, the minimum price that is acceptable to a producer rises, therefore
the supply reduces. The number of suppliers When the number of suppliers is higher
the supply is greater. Government intervention

In Shakespeare s play Othello, tragedy unfolds on the account of one man s
actions, Iago. He is a twenty eight year old military veteran from Venice. His
personality consists of being obsessive, manipulative, relentless, and bold. From
the beginning he expressed his hatred towards the Moor, or North African named
Othello. Othello is a highly respected general and is also married to the pure
Desdemona. The marriage between Othello and Desdemona is destroyed due to
Iago s actions and lies. His actions consist of getting Michael Cassio discharged as
lieutenant and convincing the Moor that his wife is cheating on him. The motives

The reason Cassio is discharged as Othello s lieutenant is because he fought
Montano, who was the governor of Cyprus before Othello. Now that Cassio has
been discharged as lieutenant, Iago has achieved one of goals because Othello tell
Iago Now art thou my lieutenant (III, ii. 485). Although his hate for Othello still
remains as he has suspicion that he has slept with his wife, Emilia. Iago s next
achievement in Shakespeare s play Othello is to convince Othello that his wife is
cheating on him. He wants to destroy their marriage because he believes Othello
has slept with his wife, Emilia which is another motive as to why he hates Othello.
Starting in Act One, Scene Three Iago wants to start poisoning Othello s mind
with thoughts of his wife having an affair with Cassio. He states in lines 385 387,
Let s see. After some time, to abuse Othello s ear that he is too familiar with his
wife . Iago is going to put the impression that Cassio and Desdemona are having an
affair. Iago wants to put these thoughts into Othello s head; therefore Othello can
experience the same betrayal and heartbreak that he is experiencing. He believes
Othello will trust his word because Cassio is good looking and a smooth talker. In
Act Three, Scene Three Iago starts hinting to Othello that his lieutenant, Michael
Cassio could be having an affair with Othello s wife Desdemona. Iago tells Othello,

13. Marketing Analytics And The Other Job Roles
Introduction into Analytics
Business Analytics and the other job roles connected to this area has increasing
job trend in the last few years, newer and newer jobs appearing in the market,
which was not exist 5 8 years ago. Since I am working in this area, and also an
interesting area, I would like to introduce this to the audience.I am interested in this
topic not only because I am working in this area, also because as a non statistician
person I still could learn many ways of simulating forecasting future events, and in
many cases it is fun, or at least interesting that we can solve the same business
problem with many different techniques!
First of all, let me explain what is Business Analytics?
According to1Gartner (2013) „Business analyticsis comprised of solutions used to
build analysis models and simulations to create scenarios, understand realities and
predict future states.
So in summary we are using many types of analytical and statistical methods to
transform the raw data into a shape where we can get information from it, and get a
conclusion. Based onthese informationand conclusions we will be able to make
business decisions, which might affect the future success.
Regarding the Business Analytics we need to understand that it has different levels,
based on the business value it has, and also based on the complexity to apply it. In
regards to the complexity required to apply, we are moving from the descriptive type
of analyzes through the predictive, into the

special effects in Hugo. Chroma key, models, CGI and stunts all come under Special
effects, which are illusions to the eye seen on screen. But today I ll just be discussing
the sub elements of Chroma key and models. Also, how they add to the overall
entertainment value and their impact on the audience. [Hugo 21 in background fades

the area where the green or blue screens are. Because green and blue are colours

He s not actually hanging from a high point above the streets of Paris. Chroma key
builds suspense and the viewers are afraid and led to believe that Hugo could really
fall off. These emotions that the viewers have because of the imagery created by
Chroma key. [Hugo 3 in background fades in] Another sub element of special effects
are Models, mini scenes made and filmed so that they look big and real in the film.
Models are made so that real size sets, that are expensive, don t have to be created.
These scenes build suspense and are exciting as the audience is in awe at how this
set could have been created. In Hugo this can be seen in Hugo s dream where the
train crashes through and out of the train station. The train crash scene isn t
actually real size but is well made so that it looks realistic when on screen. This is
because the creators of the train crash model went to great detail, such as how the
glass shatters and explodes on the model, to make this more visually effective. It
also seems more realistic because scenes before show real people at the station and
this mix of reality and the model makes it seem more
15. The Mother Archetype Of James Joyce s Dubliners
The Mother Archetype in James Joyce s Dubliners
An archetype is an instantly recognizable, fundamental theme, character, or symbol.
According to Carl Jung, archetypes are part of the collective unconscious, an
inherent, species wide knowledge base that is embedded in our natural and cultural
identity (Boeree, Webspace). One example of a Jungian archetype is the mother. In
the stories The Boarding House and A Mother from Dubliners, James Joyce explores
the two aspects of the mother archetype and how they manifest themselves in the
ways Mrs. Mooney and Mrs. Kearney protect and control their daughters.
The mother archetype comprises two potential manifestations. Jung describes the
loving and the terrible mother:

She was a big imposing woman who dealt with moral problems as a cleaver deals
with meat (47, 49). Her manipulativeness would seem to condemn her as a terrible
mother who merely wishes to foist her daughter onto some poor, unsuspecting sap.
She thought of some mothers she knew who could not get their daughters off their
hands (50). However there is evidence that Mrs. Mooney does truly care for her
daughter and wants the best for her. Some mothers would be content to patch up
such an affair for a sum of money; she had known cases of it. But she would not do
so. For her, only one reparation could make up for the loss of her daughter s
honour: marriage. She is balanced between the loving and terrible mother,
simultaneously embodying both aspects of the archetype. To begin with she had all
the weight of social opinion on her side: she was an outraged mother (Joyce 50).
Mrs. Mooney is able to maintain the moral high ground and secure society s approval
despite her questionable conduct because she is fulfilling her archetypal role.
In contrast, Mrs. Kearney is unable to achieve the archetypal balance, and fails in
her maternal role. The title of the story is ironic, because Mrs. Kearney fails as a
mother. She starts off well, trying to take advantage of the Irish Revival to benefit her
daughter.
When the Irish Revival began to be appreciable Mrs. Kearney determined to take
advantage of her daughter s name
16. Environmental Effects of War
ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES IN CONDUCT OF WAR
INTRODUCTION
War is never an isolated act.
War is a phenomenon of organized violent conflict, typified by extreme aggression,
societal disruption and adaptation, and high mortality. Usually a war is a pre planned
activity to begin with by one group or one nation and the group initiates the war by
means of violence against the other. The primary feature of this behaviour pattern is
a certain state of organized conflict that is engaged in between two or more separate
social entities. Such a conflict is always an attempt at altering either the
psychological hierarchy or the material hierarchy of domination or equality between
two or more groups. In all cases, at least one participant (group) in the ... Show more

For example after the war finishes , usually the losing nations pays compensations
or money for reparations to the victorious nations for the destruction caused. In
many cases , land is ceded to victorious nations. The victorious nations control the
losing nation s economy according to its own principles and theories and
eventually end up in exploiting its natural and economic resources. Typically
speaking, war becomes very intertwined with the economy and many wars are
partially or entirely based on economic reasons such as the American Civil War. In
some cases war has stimulated a country s economy for example World War II is
often credited with bringing America out of the Great Depression but in many cases,
such as the wars of Louis XIV, the Franco Prussian War, and World War I
, warfare
serves only to damage the economy of the countries involved. For example, Russia s
involvement in World War I took such a toll on the Russian economy that it almost
collapsed and greatly contributed to the start of the Russian Revolution of 1917. War
not only adversely affects the life of the people but also other essential things
required for their survival. War can affect the environment that it takes place in. War
destroys crops, forest, water systems, and other natural resources. Wars can also cause
pollution in the air, land, and the water.
It is very difficult to point out that these are the particular impacts of war as the
impacts of war varies from war to

hypoallergenic dog meals solves many problems if you are searching for a very high
quality food.
The next item which should obtain your full attention may be the preservatives or
insufficient preservatives that are used. The manufacturing procedure for dry dog
meals in particular needs baking at high temps.
The very best dog foods usually do not use corn, They are all regarded as filler items
that are accustomed to bulk up the meals. They are also designed to make the dog
feel full and yet they lack essential nutrients and vitamins.
The ultimate final result of consuming these could possibly be the advancement of
food allergies and other illnesses.

19. Analysis Of Severus Snape
Severus Snape is one of the most beloved, and yet most despised, characters in the
history of literature. Appearing in the famed novel and movie series, Harry Potter,
Snape has touched, warmed, and broken people s hearts since the summer of 1997.
When readers first met Snape in Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone, he was
hated and feared as the teacher with greasy black hair, a hooked nose, and sallow
skin. However, it is not until the series nears its end in Harry Potterand the Deathly
Hallows, that the readers learn that Severus Snapewas cruel and brutal for many
reasons. One of the most controversial topics in literature is whether Snape was a
villain or a hero. In agreement with the latter, I believe that Snape was a hero
because he was selfless and brave. Severus Snape, although appearing ghastly and
gruesome, was extremely selfless. The way he treated Harry Potter and a number of
other students made him hated and disliked by many. Snape, a strict and feared
teacher, appeared to be a very unpleasant person. However, not everything is what it
seems. Behind the monster, was a selfless man who would do anything for love. In
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the readers learn that Snape did everything in
his power to shield Harry from Lord Voldemort. After his death on the second of
May in 1998, Snape s memories were transported via tear yo the Pensieve, which
animates one s memories. His memories revealed that he loved Harry Potter s

Wilder s directing style is most comfortable with cynical humor matched with witty
dialogue, that made him perfect for creating satirical films based on the absurd, and
easily blended these with his approach on film noirs. Wilder consistently pushed the

21. The Mobile Telecommunications Industry
The mobile telecommunications industry in Ireland has always been a competitive
and rapidly changing industry. It has changed considerably from it s initial birth
with only one competitor, to it s liberalisation in 1998, all the way through to the
introduction of MVNO s in the 2000 s. Mobile penetration has increased from 42 %
in 2000 (Telecommunications and Internet Federation, 2005) to almost 97% of Irish
adults owning a mobile phone now in 2013. (Irishexaminer.com, 2013) In order to

Also the mobile network market was much more concentrated than the supplier

companies were similar, with both standing at 20p per min from 7am to 3pm on
weekdays and all day on weekends (Independent.ie, 1998).The buyers propensity to
substitute was further lowered by high switching costs. They were unwilling to
consider the substitute as the benefit they would receive from switching companies
would not outweigh the costs, they now therefore had a stronger incentive to remain
with their current provider (cite). Competiitive rivalry within the industry was high.
The two firms actively competed with each other in order to gain market share.
The service lacked differentiation between the two yet high switching costs
prevented them from stealing each others market base. They competed with each

They also engaged in price competition, with Esat Digifone trying to catch up with
the longer established Eircell, particularly around Christmas period. With the launch

The Open Boat Compare and Contrast Essay Rough Draft
This paper is about the story The Open Boat written by Stephen Crane. In this
paper, I will try to provide the similarities of the original story with the newspaper
account. The differences in each article will also be discussed. Lastly, I will provide
a conclusion based on the facts of both articles. The Open Boat begins with a
description of men aboard a small boat on a rough sea. These men are all survivors
of a shipwreck. There is the cook, overweight and sloppily dressed, who is trying to
remove water from the bottom of the boat. The oiler, a physically powerful man
named Billie who is rowing with one oar. There is ... Show more content on

He shares this thought with the other men, and the oiler smiles in sympathy. The
men smoke cigars drink their water and wait to be spotted by the lighthouse rescue
crew, unwilling to run their boat ashore in the rough waves. The lighthouse
appears deserted. The men discuss rowing toward land swimming through the surf
once the boat finally capsizes in the rougher water that is closer to shore. The crew
knows that, over time, they will grow weaker and things will get worse, not better.
They exchange with each other addresses and admonitions , in case all of them do
not live through this whole ordeal Later, someone is seen on the shore waving to
them. A while later, a crowd gathers, disembarking from a bus. Despite their efforts
to let the people know on shore they were in distress, they realize that the people on
shore are tourists and that they think they are just simple fisherman. Thoughts of
drowning run rampant in every man s mind on that boat. At dawn, the men decided
that their only chance is to row toward the distant shore again and swim when the
boat finally capsizes. On the Captain s order, the oiler rows the boat directly
toward the shore. The boat capsizes and the people on the boat are so weak that it is
hard for them to even keep their heads above water. Suddenly, a man appears on
shore stripping his clothes off and running into the water. The rescuer
23. Mythical Creatures in the Sculpture, Legend and Myth by...
I.Description
The sculpture Legend and Myth by Damien Hirst is a pair of sculptures depicting
two mythical creatures. Legend is a sculpture of the legendary creature known as a
Pegasus, and its counterpart, named Myth, which is a sculpture of a white unicorn.
The medium that was used to create the two sculptures was a combination of painted
gold, silver, and also bronze. The sculpture Legend measures to be 4575 x 2590 x
2260 mm or 180.1 x 102 x 89 in and was sculpted in 2010, while its companion,
Myth, measures 3590 x 2800 x 808 mm or 141.3 x 110.2 x 31.8 in and was
sculpted in 2011, which is close to the same size as the average horse you would
see in a farmyard. According to my research, the last location that these two
sculptures were displayed was at the Chatsworth House in England. Both sculptures
are flayed on the left side of their bodies, showing the anatomy that lies within the
creatures. The two sculptures face away from each other in show horse stances.
Both have the flayed part that is showing the inner parts of the creatures facing
opposite directions as well. The color of the skin on these sculptures is white, and
on the flayed portions of them, the portions that are to be depicted as muscle are red,
while the part that is to be bone is a golden color.
II.Analysis
Damien Hirst incorporated many elements of art into his creation Legend and Myth,
including the form of the plinth that both of his sculptures stand upon. The plinth

Humans have come to accept that History by mere definition is the exploration and
study of history whereas the Human Sciences are defined as the in depth study of
social, biological and cultural aspects of human beings. History and Human Sciences
seek to influence humans through language, reason, and emotion. By looking at the
title, I am coming to the conclusion that historians only focus on understanding the
past and the human scientist is only looking to change the future. That conclusion is
reasonable due to reasoning of the historian or the scientist. They use reasoning to do
their job. In order to answer this question I am making the assumption that it states
that history solely concentrates on unraveling the past, while Human... Show more

For example, how someone is raised or their surroundings can affect their perception
of the world. If a historian wanted to state that the holocaust never happened because
their background sympathizes with the Germans, It can not be considered history
unless a historian goes and research and analyze their findings and more than one
historian agrees with it. The information that we have today as history would not be
considered history, unless an historian took the time and researched it. So the claim
that the historian s task is to understand the past is accurate.
The title states by contrast that the human scientists are trying to change the future,
when in reality they are also trying to understand the past also. Historians know what
they know, but can scientists really rely on what historians state as history. They use
their knowledge and the knowledge of historians to try to change the future. Scientists
have to understand the past because you can not just rely on what someone says.
Everything in the Natural Science has to be researched and tested in order to be
accepted as science. No one is going to just follow what another says because
perception and emotion can make history or science as bias due to someone s feelings.
Scientist has to go in the past and understand it and improve the future. However even
though scientists need to research the past in order to change the future, it is not

27. Shooting An Elephant And A Modest Proposal Analysis
Shooting an elephant and A modest proposal are two essays where expresses Orwell

forms schemes or designs) whose attitude is cold and unsympathetic. To begin with,
there were be a comparison between the following essays: Shooting an elephant and
A modest proposaland a summary of both essays. During the 1800 s, Great Britain
fought several wars against Burma(Myanmar); hoping to secure a better trade route
with China. In addition, Myanmar won their independence in 1948. On the other
hand, A Modest proposal grows out of Swift s furious indignation, his disgust with
English oppression, and Irish corruption and stupidity. Furthermore, Ireland was under

As he says in the essay: Here was I, the white man with his gun, standing in front of
the piece; but in reality I was only an absurd puppet pushed to and fro by the will
of those yellow faces behind. The main issue, is that he feels compelled by those
people who were watching him and expecting him to shoot down the elephant.
Although he holds a gun while other natives do not, he doesn t have the real power
to do what he wants; instead, he is pushed by the invisible force that the people
have inserted on him. He is also frustrated by the fact that he can do nothing about it
but to give in and kill the elephant at last. It is exactly how the imperialism work, it
pushes you to do what you are not willing to do. Of little difference, in A Modest
Proposal , Swift attacks the society by carelessly endorsing cannibalism in hopes to
help Ireland through their economic crisis; He demonstrates this by humbly
proposing and assuring that a young healthy child, well nursed, is, at a year old, a
most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food. Without a doubt, he s implying that
society should eat children shows that the individual (the child) is seen as an
unimportant individual to society; therefore, is not valued when considering an
effective resolution to their
28. University Of Mississippi Argumentative Essay
My freshman year at University of Mississippi began nearly 40 years after the
school was integrated. I tailgated in the Grove with the seas of people on football
Saturdays and I walked among the antebellum style architecture and magnolia trees
without a care. Long gone were the days of the segregation where the color of my
skin mattered. I was proud to be there then and I am proud to be an alumnus now,
however sometimes when I tell people where I went to college it catches them off
guard and some look at me puzzled as if to say Why there? For many people the
reputation and symbols of the University of Mississippi and history as a
battleground during the civil rights era are hard to forget. As great of a school as it

Governor Ross Barnett, a segregationist, raised the stakes when he barred Meredith
from entering the school and declared, no school in our state will be integrated
while I am your Governor . It remains the most defiant moment a state had publicly
been to the federal government since the Civil War (Friedman). The stance of
Barnett and Ole Miss required President John F. Kennedy to take action by placing
the Mississippi National Guard under federal control and sending them to Oxford.
Students rioted by throwing rocks and charging the Guard who responded with
tear gas and water hoses. In the end there was destruction of the campus, hundreds
arrested, two people died, it was called Bloody Sunday . However due to the stance
of the federal government and the relentlessness of Meredith he was admitted and
graduated it 1963 (Friedman). The effects of James Meredith s fight can be see
until this day at Ole Miss. In 2006 the university erected a bronze statue of him to
commemorate his courage and contributions. At the time of the statues dedication
blacks made up 11 percent of the student population and 20 percent of the faculty
(Lambert). Ole Miss continues its attempt to clean up its image in other areas as
well. In 2002 in stopped using Colonel Reb as a game day mascot and stopped the
band from playing Dixie in 2009. These changes show that while we may not be
able to change the past we do not have to let it define
29. Adult Development And Wellness In Older Adults
Older Adult Development and Wellness
We all are surrounded by older adult, and we know that we have so many
considerations related to them. We all need to understand how physical, mental and
psychological changes occurs with advancing age and how it is different for each
person. Some people stay healthy, some are surrounded by all kind of disease, and it
all depends upon circumstances in an individual s life.
Some older adults are physically active, intelligent and socially engaged until the time
of their death. Although, we all have misconception that all older adults are
physically, mentally and socially impaired, but the truth is that they get discouraged
by the way people think about them. It is true that most of the older adult tend to
have all kind of disorders like delirium, dementia, Alzheimer s disease, ischemic
vascular dementia (IVD) and depressions, however we need to educate and
encourage them to be healthy and teach them how to prevent all those kinds of
disorders. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

before their age, however I believe that retiring at early age pushes people to
loneliness and they tend to have more conflict in life which can lead to
disappointments. Death of their spouse, housing and environmental changes can
often lead to more stress and disease. When people get too stress, that is when they
make poor life choices and that is how they become victim of social

conservative milieu of Pakistan. She articulates her own experiences and holds the

Tehmina Durrani also encounters such behaviour in her parents and later at her

My mother demanded total obedience and, although I always complied, she

32. How To Write An Essay On George Patton Battle
George Patton George Patton was born in San Gabriel, California on November
11, 1885. Patton was considered one of the most successful combat generals in U.S
history. In WWI he was assigned to the Tank Corps and then in WWII he helped
lead the Allies to victory in the invasion of Sicily and was instrumental to the release
of Germany from the Nazis. Patton was also one of the most complicated military
men, known for carrying pistols with ivory handles and his intemperate manner.
Patton s ruthless drive and desire for battle earned him the nickname Old Blood and
Guts. Patton died on December 21, 1945 after injuries due to an automobile accident
twelve days prior. Patton was then buried among the soldiers who died in the Battle
of the Bulge in Hamm, Luxembourg.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Patton was given command of the first and second Armored Divisions and
organized a training center in the California desert soon after the Japanese attack
on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. In late 1942, Patton headed to North Africa at
the head of the American force. Before the troops landed on Morocco s Atlantic
coast he gave the troops, what is now, a legendary philosophy of battle: We shall
attack and attack until we are exhausted, and then we shall attack again. Patton led
the American into their first major victory after a series of defeats. In order to
prepare the U.S. 7th Army for its invasion of Sicily Patton turned over his command
in North Africa. During this time Patton s reputation suffered greatly after slapping
a soldier, who was suffering from shell shock, accusing him of cowardice. This
incident landed Patton a reprimanding from President Eisenhower and he was forced
to make a public apology. Despite this fact, the invasion of Sicily was a major

In both stories wolves are portrayed as dangerous creatures. Throughout the story of
On the Mountain Trail the wolves are chasing after what they think is prey. Then
in Law of Life at the end of the story (paragraph 22) the wolves attack him and kill
him. The wolves in both stories are portrayed as fierce ferocious animals; they are
creatures of the wilderness, hunting prey whenever possible. They are not the
sociable animals such as dogs that we are so custom to they are deadly animals in
some cases. For example: In the mountain trail once the characters started to shoot at
them the wolves immediately thought of them as a threat, or when you are lying

In the fairy tales Little Red Riding Hood the wolf was a trick so he could eat her and
as a result she ran away. In The Boy Who Cried Wolf, he was lier and eventually
died. They were supposed to scare us so as we got older we never saw a wolf and if
we did it was a symbol of fear to us. But because we have never seen them in person
when we do we think of a way to either kill them or get them away so that they
cannot harm us or them, the main characters (On the Mountain Trail paragraph 9 10
and Law of life paragraph 22). But sometimes we don t understand wolves they can
represent fear as the lone wolf represents when it s hunting alone without his pack

Wolves also mean in different religions that you are strong and brave, or in the
Japanese they worshiped them. But in most religions they are terrified of them they

people thought you were a werewolf they would kill you, because they thought you
were dangerous. That s why most people try and kill them instead of stopping to pet

gasoline engine and the electric motor are working in tandem. Off the line
acceleration is admirable, causing the front wheels to spin at times. On the highway,
the Toyota Camry Hybrid has no loss of power, especially during those times when it
is needed.
Beyond the hybrid s respectable performance, its handling corresponds to what other
sedans in this segment provide a relatively uninvolved experience. Steering is light to
the touch and what most drivers should find tuned to their satisfaction. Braking is
firm and confident.
For hybrid drivers desiring to optimize fuel economy, the sedan should be operated

located between the front seats. The EV mode allows the Camry Hybrid to operate
at speeds of up to 25 mpg as an electric vehicle, but not for more than one mile.
Operating in anything but normal mode impedes performance, but the trade off is
improved fuel efficiency.
The EPA rates the 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid at 43 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on

Collaboratively examining students learning and performance allows teachers to
engage with their content standards, design and critique assessments and plan
instruction (Fisher, 2005. p. 11). Simply glancing over state standards is not
providing students with quality instruction; therefore, students are not able to take
their learning to a deeper level of understanding. My goal is for instruction to be
aligned with assessments; thus students are able to apply their knowledge to solve
problems and make reasonable applications through everyday issues. All students
should be challenged in each standard at the highest level they are capable of
mastering. Rigor exists in the standard and must be ingrained in the classroom daily.
Rigor in assessment must align with instruction in the type of thinking (Chappuis,
2014). Rigor does not mean more work or harder assessments. I find it irritating when
all standards are not completely addressed to the students, yet students are expected
to reach mastery on the assessment. In the end teachers and students become
frustrated with the outcome. Assessments along with instruction of the standard
should be aligned. Students learn at different levels and at a different pace; therefore,
differentiation plays a large role in student success. Providing additional support for
diverse learners is crucial so that students are able to stay focused on their learning
outcomes and reaching mastery on standard

Police powers on stop and search
In England a police officer has the power to stop and search without making an
arrest if they have reasonable grounds to suspect you are carrying illegal drugs, a
weapon, stolen property or anything which could be used to commit a crime. Also
a police officer can conduct a stop and search without reasonable grounds if he has
been authorised to do so by a senior officer. See section 60 of the criminal justice
and public order act and schedule 7 of the terrorism act 2000.These provisions
have since come under much criticism as many argue that the practice lacks clarity,
gives room for racial discrimination, grossly conflicts with ECHR and deprives
people of their liberties and rights. In a bid to curtail the misuse of stop and search
powers and provide a vital balance between the power of the state and individual
freedom the Parliament set out some guidelines i.e. PACE codes of practice (Code A)

37. Masculinity Analysis
Masculinity to the extent the term can be briefly defined at all, is simultaneously a
place in gender relations, the practices through which men and women engage that
place in gender and the effects of these practices in bodily experience, personality and
culture. (Connell 1995:72)
Connell (2000) argued that masculinities are multiple, thus differ from place to place,
Connell advances by suggesting that masculinities are socially constructed, therefore
cannot be fixed. This shows the complexity of what masculinity is, thus how can
masculinity be in crisis if there is no fixed meaning. Realisation that masculinities are
being socially constructed can be dated back to the psychoanalysis work of Freud,
thus the social psychological concept, which is the sex role (Connell,2001) the male
sex role . Connell (2001) argued that the sex role, emphasises the correct norms and
roles for male behaviour. West and Zimmerman (1987) Doing genderexplains that
masculinity is not something that boys and men have happen to them, rather, it is
something that they do, therefore through socialisation. Academics such as
clatterbaugh (1998), argue that the term masculinity is itself an issue, as he suggests
there are seven ways in which masculinity can be used. Clatterbaugh (1998) suggests
that one of these is the cultural norms and beliefs and what masculine should be, this
is advanced by Flood (2002). Flood (2002) agrees that politicians and academic alike
are unsure what masculinity is,

and others transpire when external factors affect a child maturation in the womb. For
instance, a child whose mother smoked during pregnancy is vulnerable and likely to

A recent study contends that, in many occurrences, the birth of a child brings a sense

41. Spectral Band Replication in Audio Coding
Spectral Band Replication (SBR) is a novel audio spectrum recovery technology, it
can greatly improve the efficiency of perceptual audio coding compression, and thus
more suitable for streaming media applications with limited bandwidth. It will be
widely used in the world of digital broadcasting, the third generation mobile
communications, multimedia downloads, video on demand and other services. SBR
use parametric coding technique that involves complex algorithms; simply take a
long time by the hardware circuit design. And this design cannot keep up with the
constant development of audio standards. In other words: When a new standard
integration into the decoder, it takes a long time to complete the new circuit design,
the original method will no longer have a market value. Be achieved only using the
software in power consumption and cost requirements are higher for portable
applications with limited competition. With the increasing complexity and diversity
of multimedia signal processing requirements, hardware and software co design
concept has been widely applied to the actual design. The two main reasons why
Spectral Band Replication can fit our needs are: First, SBR is capable of reproducing
the high frequency band by using the correlation information which transmitted along
with the low frequency band. Therefore, we can save the bits which were reserved
for coding high frequency band without actually lost the high frequency signal.
Second, it is more

As we learned from Project 1 employee personalities have a dynamic effect on an
organization s culture, thus supporting the idea that organizational culture has a
significant impact on employee performance. In today s business world more and
more organizations are seeking ways to incorporate self appraisal and personality
assessments into their hiring decisions. Robbins and Judge s chapter on personality
and values highlights how tools such as the Myers Briggs type indicatorand the Big
Five Personality Model are helping employers to determine if an employee s
personality will fit into their organizational culture (2009). Assessments on
employee behavior supply employers with a broader perspective on how the
employee views their performance as well as provide insight on employee values.
Self assessment provides formative and summative feedback which employers may
use to identify an employee s strengths and weakness. From this they are able to

Introduction Most every organization must deal with the issues of employee
satisfaction in order to achieve their customer satisfaction targets and, consequently
profitability. The paper considers the determinants of employee satisfaction using an
empirical approach and premising arguments on extant literature. The focus on this
paper is to explain the level of satisfaction among employees with an aim of providing
dynamic recommendations to improve the worker satisfaction in firms. This will be
achieved by examining published research and robust data obtained from interviews
related to employee satisfaction, customer retention, and corporate profitability. The
paper recognizes that employee satisfaction has fundamental implications for... Show

On the other hand, others posit that using an aggregated measure can cloud the
actual causes of satisfaction, leading to unsound generalisation of employee
satisfaction (Rose, 2003). The author further argues that proper aggregation of job
satisfaction measures should ideally be done through the use of a composite index
that includes a wide range of indicators of job satisfaction. However, in a later
study, Rose (2005) also points to the significance of performing a detailed analysis
of job satisfaction. The former approach is preferred for this study as it is follows
closely on the work done by Brown et al. (2008). Job satisfaction is linked to the
sense of achievement with work; the level of a influence work; and with pay.
These key facets of satisfaction are discussed in our analysis and examined
empirically. Also, achieving a fulfilling employment and providing workers with
adequate control and influence on their work are significant for improving job
satisfaction (Layard, 2005). The study is concerned with the effects of HRM
policies on the above measures of job satisfaction. The 2011 WERS dataset
contains a rich variety of variables measuring HRM policies and practices. While
the issue of HRM practices remains controversial in literature (see Hesketh
Fleetwood, 2006), data on HRM is useful and has been used in key studies.
Variables provide in WERS largely capture formal HRM practices such as work
flexibility and compensation

46. Argumentative Essay On Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is a form of therapeutical biofeedback that utilizes real time
visualization of brain activity. Most commonly, this is done by use of
electroencephalography, or EEG. The purpose of this form of therapy is to train
the brain to manipulate and even change its function. There is a lot of controversy
surrounding this therapy, especially regarding whether it is effective or not. It s a
relatively new concept in the field of neuroscience and there are plenty of
arguments regarding the benefits of it s use and whether or not it can replace
therapeutical medications. My question is whether or not it is effective, and if it is,
how? In order to answer and explore my question on whether or not neurofeedback is
an effective form of therapy,

48. Positive And Negative Outcomes Of The Industrial
Revolution
There were many positive and negative outcomes of the Industrial Revolution. Some
of the negatives was that there was pollution, terrible working conditions, and
poverty. However, some of the positives would be new technological advancements
and Labor Unions. As a result of The Industrial Revolution, there was more of a
negative effect than a positive one.
There were lots of negative outcomes of the Industrial Revolution. One example: the
terrible working conditions in which employers didn t want to spend money to make
things better, so dangerous working environments worsened. Another negative
outcome was pollution. Pollution occurred from all the CO2 emissions into the
atmosphere from dirty factories. Finally, under payment is another negative
49. Four Noble Path Research Paper
The Four Noble Truths Buddhism is seen as a religion that leads more to spiritualism
rather than religious teachings. Founded by Buddha, one must achieve their own
spiritual awakening, or nirvana, through meditation and ethical living. Most
Buddhists spend a large portion of their time in self reflection or meditation as a way
to liberate themselves from perceptions of inadequacy. Through human desires,
Buddhists believe that suffering is an imperative part of life s existence. The purpose
of this paper is to understand The Four noble truthsand The Eightfold Path, the main
goal of Buddhists, and how meditation can relieve one from suffering.
Buddhists have developed a way to end that suffering by following the teaching of

The Buddha taught that humans suffer because we always seek for things that do not
give lasting happiness. We attach to people, health, material things, that do not last
and this causes sadness. The notion of suffering is not intended to convey a negative
world view, but rather, a pragmatic perspective that deals with the world as it is, and
attempts to rectify it. The goal of Buddhism is achieving nirvana by extinguishing
suffering. Therefore, the Buddhists refer to this state as enlightenment . In order to
achieve this peace, individuals practice and meditate endlessly to empty their minds
as much as possible. Nirvana is the state of being free from all the suffering and
sadness. Many Buddhist use a variety of techniques to achieve this goal. Some chant,
some sit, and some use the practice of meditation. (Prothero, 177). One example of
meditation that Prothero talks about is vipassana. The aim of vipassana meditation is
simply to be mindful of things as they are, to watch how all conditions arise and pass
away (Prothero, 179) However, despite the importance of meditation in Buddhism,
which is used to find one s self, according to the article Meditation en Masse Erik
Braun says that most Buddhist have focused on cultivating moral behavior,
preserving the Buddha s teachings and acquiring the good karma that comes from
generous giving instead of using meditation, while others believe that you cannot be

51. Utopia and Il Muqaddimah Essay
Utopia and Il Muqaddimah both show the importance of families and social
groups in the civilization they live in. Utopian families all have an equal role in
the cities they live in; they are a microcosm of their city and its objective to
survive; however, in Il Muqaddimah the subjects have the responsibility to help the
ruler prosper. Utopians work and in return share what they earn, while subjects work
for their survival. Utopians all have an equal work load and subjects hardships
depend on their social status both situations lead to prosperity. Utopians work for the
commonwealth and in result no one worries about hunger or payment, products of

Utopians have balance and this causes harmony, while subjects and rulers must
know and not step out of their roles because it would lead to downfall. Utopians all
have an equal work load this is very common in families; the husband works and
brings in money while the wife stays home and keeps the house and children in
order, the children provide a job for the wife and in time will help their mother.
This is all equal work because the without the husband there would be no food,
without the wife the house would become chaotic, and without children the wife
would have nothing to keep her busy which results in laziness and no prosper, if all
those who work away at pointless tasks and, together with them, that whole crowd
of lazy, languid idlers, if they all were put to work and useful work at that you can
easily see how little time would be enough to produce all thee goods required for
human needs (More 1711). This highlights the importance of work, without everyone
pulling their own weight others suffer and must work twice as hard instead of
harmonically. Rulers have an important job that promises prosperity to their territory.
This job requires them to provide hope to subjects, because without hope people
began to fall apart and no longer desire the will to succeed
52. Minor Characters in Ragged Dick
The Role of Minor Characters in Ragged Dick
It is impossible for the minor characters in Ragged Dick to have a fair chance at
being recognized as decent members of society because of the emphasis Horatio
Alger Jr. places on Dick Hunter. The better qualities of Dick are constantly being
reminded to the reader, giving them little room to disagree with Alger s heroic
portrayal of him. Horatio Alger Jr. s preference to homosexuality also reflects his
choice in excluding any useful female characters in his novel. Minor characters lack
understanding from readers because information surrounding them is absent, causing
them to be judged on face value alone. Alger writes Ragged Dick to try and show how
respectability can come forth through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Micky Maguire is another pawn which Alger plays in Ragged Dick in order to
make Dick stand out among the boot blacks and set him above the rest. Micky fits
the typical description of a common boot black in the city during the time in which
Ragged
Dick was written. He seems to exemplify expected behaviour of a young boot black
by his rough exterior, involvement in fights, lack of money, and disregard for
others including their property. Micky Maguire is the enemy of the story, and it is
clear that the hero must always rise above the bad characters in order to provide a
lesson with the story being told. Dick is known to keep his cool and remain
confident around Micky, even when a fight is breaking out between the two of
them (Alger 94). While Micky is indeed a cruel boy as it seems, Dick does bring on
some of the taunting himself because of the cocky manner he upholds when
speaking to Micky. Even with Dick being smart mouthed toward Micky, there is
not any sympathy towards Micky in the novel because of his ruffian ways and
rudeness towards Dick. Alger does not give Micky credit for why he acts like this
towards Dick nor does he establish a true reason why Micky turned out to be such a
tough street boy. His childish actions are likely caused by jealously over Dick and
not because of sheer hatred (Alger 91). Micky is not given chances like Dick and
whether or not Alger sets it up so that option luck is a rewarded behaviour,

The Fine Arts are Essential for the Attainment of Human Excellence
Fine art exists since the beginning of time. Its creation does not begin with that of
mankind, for, verily, nature is the origin of all art; the ultimate of all artists. Humans,
however, are not blind to it at birth. Since the bestowal of vision, both physical and
that of the mind, man is expressing the desire to make corporeal that which it
beholds. Evidence of this is found in ancient cave paintings, an attempt to immortalize
a moment from the past, depicting one from another life. Undoubtedly there have
also been drawings in the sand made by the tough skinned fingers of the primordial
ancestor. This urge to reincarnate the sights beheld by memory remains in... Show

Likewise, the art must be kept simple in the way of its creative process. This is not
to mean that the end result may not be complex and detailed, but rather, that often
times in excessive planning, deliberation, and in application of rigid sets of rules
upon the creation, the purity and profundity of the art is lost in bearing witness to its
own validity. The goal, thus, is to have the experience of satori each time the act of
painting or sculpting occurs, and letting it do the art. Te Taoist tradition also supports
this as, from the Tao Te Ching, a good artist lets his intuition / lead him wherever it
wants, (Lao Tzu 27). Now, it is still important to know the various techniques
associated with the art form in particular. For only if a craft knowledge is attained
can the simplicity of the product be, in all actuality, of great intricacy. This can be
more easily understood in Lao Tzu s words, as the master knows the utensils, / yet
keeps to the block: / thus she can use all things, (28). Correspondingly, true art
seems unsophisticated, (41), and true art seems artless, (45). So if art indeed does
attain these attributes becomes simple, and therefore infinitely elaborate, and is not
performed for any reason as may be materially profitable but only for its own sake
then it is, verily, in a pure for and can be the focal
54. Alcohol-Related Driving Accidents
Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is associated with both economic
and social costs not only to the offender but to society as a whole. Statistics show
that alcohol is a factor is more than one third of motor vehicles accidents in the US.
In 2010, 40,000 individuals died as a result of alcohol related driving accidentsand of
the 1,132 traffic deaths in children nearly 20% were due to an impaired alcoholic
driver. In addition, there were nearly 3.9 million people injured and over 24 million
vehicles which were damaged. The key reason for these statistics was drunk driving,
speeding and distracted driving.
In 2015, over 1 million drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of a
narcotic or alcohol. And despite the seriousness of the situation, many drivers
continue to get behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol.
Economic costs
Aside from pain and suffering, the cost of alcohol related car accidents is in
hundreds of billions of dollars. With such accidents, there is usually damage to the
car and property; there is also a risk of injury to pedestrians and passengers. In
addition, there is an enormous waste of valuable resources when an alcoholic is
involved in a car crash. The road has to be cleared, the damage to the lights has to be
repaired, the pavement has to be redone and other structures have to be fixed. There
may be long traffic jams. Ambulances and helicopters have to be rushed to the scene
when there are injuries.

Summary of Progress from Prior Month s Report
On April 1, 2016, 81 assets in the MABS trust were added to the oversight
population. The population of active assets included in the oversight project as of
April 30, 2016 was 88. As of October 31, 2016, there were 59 active assets included
in the project.
Days in REO for active assets increased to 231 days in October 2016 compared to
214 days in September 2016
When removing the 1 Rhode Island asset ( original population addressed in more
detail below), Days in REO for active assets declined to 198 days
As of October 31, 2016, 24 assets in the REO oversight population had more than
200 Days in REO. 5 of these are from the original population and 19 are from the
MABS population
Compared to the original population, the MABS assets are more geographically
disbursed and were not as heavily concentrated in states with an extended redemption
timeline (e.g., Nevada, Michigan and Minnesota) or located in states with extended
timelines for confirmation/ratification or states with extended timelines for the
foreclosure deed recordation (e.g., New York, Illinois, Maryland). However, since
MABS moved to the project, RMS has noticed an increase in concentrations in these
higher timeline states. In addition, MABS has a high percentage of loans that have
been in REO for less than 100 days, with 14 of 41 remaining MABS assets (34%)
having less than 100 days in inventory.

57. The Factors Of Consolidating The British Empire
Consolidating the British Empire:
The British Empire was an empire on which the sun never set. Lasting for over three
hundred years, Britain became the global hegemonic power of the nineteenth and
twentieth centuries. From the wilds of Australia, to the fertile lands of Africa, the
British Empire ruled over a quarter of the world s population. Spurred on by new
economic, strategic, and humanitarian reasons, Britain embarked on an aggressive
expansionist policy, quickly gaining spheres of influence in India, China, Africa and
the Middle East. With the empire ever expanding, visual and material culture became
increasingly relied upon to help consolidate the empire. Overall, whether an
advertisement for Pears soap, the funeral of Dr. Livingstone, or a commemorative
biscuit tin, visual and material culture was at the forefront of British imperialism.
Although Britain abolished slavery in 1833, the shackles of racism remained. In the
late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Social Darwinism became a popular
ideology used to justify political conservatism, imperialism, and racist policies. Built
upon Charles Darwin s theory of natural selection (i.e. the idea that physical traits
best adapted to an environment would prevail), Social Darwinists applied natural
selection to the human race, arguing human society was a struggle for existence
where only the fittest would survive. Used as racial and class justification, Social
Darwinism became the foundation of Britain s new
