Comparing The Behavior Of The Stuffer With Distilled Water
Part I. Comparing the behavior of the buffer with distilled water First, a pH meter was collected from
the stock room and calibrated to prepare for data collection. 25 mL of distilled, DI water was then
poured into a clean, dry 100 mL beaker and using the pH meter the pH of the DI water was measured
and recorded. The initial pH of distilled water was more basic before the addition of HCl. 1 drop of
0.50 M HCl was added to a beaker using a disposable pipette and the change in pH was recorded. The
measured pH was much more acidic after the addition of the HCl. After recording the data the solution
was thrown down the sink and a new 25 mL of DI water was placed in a clean dry 100 mL beaker. The
initial pH of DI water before the addition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Part III. Testing the buffer capacity with HCl and NaOH Next, 1 mL of 0.5 M HCl solution was added
to the beaker with the 25 mL of the buffer and mixed. The new pH was recorded. 1 mL of 0.5 M HCl
continued being added until the pH dropped by 0.5 units. The pH was measured and recorded. Only a
few trials were needed. The used buffer solution was thrown down the sink and then a new 25 mL of
the prepared buffer was poured into a clean 100 mL beaker. The same process was repeated like for
the HCl, but this time using the strong base NaOH. 1 mL of 0.5 M NaOH solution was added to the
beaker with the 25 mL of the buffer and mixed. The new pH was recorded. Again, 1 mL of 0.5 M
NaOH continued being added and the pH was recorded until it had risen by 0.5 units. This time more
trials were performed.
Part IV. Determining the effect on the pH of diluting the buffer The used buffer solution was discarded
and then a new 12.5 mL of the prepared buffer was poured into a clean 100 mL beaker. To dilute the
buffer 12.5 mL of DI water was added to the

Adolescent And Their Concept Of Self
Adolescence is a time when one breaks away from the sheltering they have been accustomed to as a
child, and there is a great sense of maturing as they prepare for adulthood. It is during this time,
between 12 and 18 years of age, when dynamic changes occur. Adolescents not only experience
profound physical change during this period they also undergo a revolution in the way they think. This
essay focuses on the adolescent and their concept of self, with a discussion of the predictable and
unpredictable events that they are known to face. Although each adolescent will mature according to
their own unique timetable. The following sections will more thoroughly explain and explore each of
these developmental areas and discuss the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are various significant events that occur during the adolescent years. As well as physical and
hormonal changes that transpire during puberty, there is vast psychosocial developmental change in
the adolescent. Life s focuses/attentions during this period are now far beyond the home and
classroom, as the adolescent ventures into exploring more of the outside world. Adolescence is a
period of discovery, a time to try new things. This is a time of experimentation, as one pursues new
social conditions and relationships. Establishing a sense of gender identity and clarifying one s sexual
orientation occurs during late adolescence, and sexual relationships are typically pursued.
Experimenting with dress, language and social interactions help them define who they are. It is
commonly branded that the adolescent will find their clique . These things are usually expected
milestones that an adolescent will reach. Other momentous events that are predicted for the adolescent
are the undertaking of part time work, and to be more in thought about their future endeavours. During
adolescence, there is also experimentation of risk taking behaviours are common. These experiences
are not predicted to occur, although they are known to be normative adolescent associated behaviour
as they journey through new experimentation. Risk taking behaviours include drug taking, unprotected
sex resulting in sexually transmitted

The Sctructuration Theory Of Giddens

to identify and analyse the organisational patterns and structure of Roskilde Festival and reveal how
the people who hold position as volunteers are managed and motivated by the structure and how the
structure of the festival and the volunteers interact and impact on each other. Giddens describes

the view that people behave without external influence, or that individuals are always subjected to the

Behavioral Characteristics Of An Entrepreneur
Concepts of taking risks have regularly been associated with behavioural characteristics of an
entrepreneur. A study on intention of nascent entrepreneurs, Caliendo et al (2009) discovered
individuals who are less risk adverse tends to enter self employment but this only applies for those
leaving regular employment. Risk attitudes however, do not affect the decision process for those
moving away from inactivity or unemployment.
The early work of Schumpeter (1934) pointed out that the accountability of risk hinders on ownership,
and given that entrepreneurs does not necessarily signify owners, risk propensity should be excluded
as part of the traits of an entrepreneur. In its place, Schumpeter suggests innovation to be the primary
trait of entrepreneurship.
Although scholars are ambivalent with regards to the role of risk taking propensity when determining
an entrepreneur, yet many studies have taken into account risk propensity as an entrepreneurial trait
when it comes to identifying entrepreneurial intentions (Rauch and Frese 2007; Zhao et al 2010;
Brandstätter 2011).
II. Innovation
Innovation has remained a continuously represented functional trait of entrepreneurs in literature
(Carland et al 1984; Dyer et al 2008; Schaltegger and Wagner 2011; Nochian and Schott 2012). In
Schumpeter s early work (1934, 1942), he reasoned that innovation was a paramount force of
economic development as it acts as a catalyst in the success and expansion of an economic cycle.

The Best Practice Procedures The Cls Have Set Up A Number...
To coincide with the best practice procedures the CLS have set up a number of risk management
procedures for its members and the procedures to become a member. Every instruction must go
through various tests before it is accepted by the CLS. (Swiss National Bank p. 8) This series of test
includes that the institutions must have a positive overall account balance of the participant s sub
accounts with the CLS, a short position limit in any one currency, and aggregate shore positions.
(Swiss National Bank p. 8) The first factor of the test of an overall positive account balance is the
most important quota to meet for the CLS. By having a positive balance the institution is showing the
CLS that they have outstanding credit and will be able to make payments when they make a deal or
transaction through the CLS. By safeguarding the credit of institutions applying to be members of the
group the CLS are lowering the percentages and allowance for risk knowing that at the time of
admittance the pursuing member was in good credit and showed no signs of not being able to pay their
transactions. The second risk management of short position limits helps to ensure that institutions will
not run into liquidity problems. Each member of the group is allowed an identical limit per currency.
By creating these limits the CLS are trying to lower the risk and keep a fair and stable market. If one
currency takes a major dive it will not have such a large effect on a members liquidity as

Essay on The Station Nightclub Fire West Warwick, Rhode...
The Station Nightclub Fire West Warwick, Rhode Island.
The building of the Station Nightclub was constructed in approximately 1946. Many restorations and
repairs were made to the building since the time of construction by different owners to fulfill their
business needs. The building was a wood frame construction with wooden shingles on the exterior
walls that also included a flat roof, but the interior walls surrounding the stage were staffed with sound
proof polyurethane insulating foam. Windows were located on the north side of the building and on
the east side of the front entrance. All of the windows had security bars on them (this could be an
issue!). The building had only four doors; a front main door, a bar side exit door, a ... Show more

They had to request for mutual aid from the encompassing jurisdictions for any apparatus and
ambulances available. The end result was a combination of 583 fire, EMS, and police personnel
including 57 ambulances (BLS ALS) and two buses for transportation and shelter.
The Local, State and Federal agencies were called to investigate the Station Nightclub fire incident
and they found many issues. The polyurethane foam that was on the interior walls was the major
factor in the Station Nightclub fire. It was easily ignited and also contributed to a faster fire spread
within the building. According to NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, the interior finish is required to be
Class A or B for general assembly areas with occupant loads of more than 300. It has been calculated
that the number of occupants at the Station Nightclub was around 440 458 people, obviously well over
this limit. The ignition of polyurethane foam gave out a magnitude of smoke and heat in such a short
period of time and created mass chaos, thus resulting in a crowd wide panic towards the initial entry
point. Also NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, section 13.2.3.6.1 states that the main entrance/exit shall be
of a width that accommodates one half of the total occupant load and shall be at the level of exit
discharge or shall connect to a stairway or ramp leading to a street. If the owner of The Station

Stereotypes In The Achievement Of Desire By Richard Rodriguez
There is this young girl named Katy. She comes from a family with low income, and little to no
educational background. She does not like sharing her background with others. When she does, people
sigh or seem uninterested and do not want to talk to her. Since she receives negative feedback when
sharing things, she decides not to share anything at all. She wants to do things but feels obligated to do
the opposite of what she wants to do because it is what is expected of her. She is unhappy doing so,
she is not herself. Many people are like Katy. In the sense that they have expectations of others. The
way people perceive us make us do or act a certain way. We need to not let what others think or expect
of us control us. The negative stereotypes we are associated with can make us not be ourselves and be
unhappy, causing us to do things because it is expected of us and sometimes we set these expectations
on ourselves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

did not completer their education and he felt as if others saw his parents and that they were not
educated, he will be perceived as less than what he is. I would not like to feel or be treated as less

My Friend Essay
When I was ten or eleven years old I was just like any other average girl in my school, except I was
particularly rude and mean to my friends. Friends are people you confide in, people you go to when
your feeling down, people you re the happiest with but for my friends it was just the opposite. One day
at school one of my friends had cut her hair and came to school feeling really self conscious about her
hair. As a friend you re supposed to comfort and compliment your friend so they don t feel so bad but
no when she came to school I made her feel even worse, Why did you cut your hair? You look so
much uglier than before! , I said to her. On another day a different friend of mine s grandmother died
and she was completely heartbroken. Her eyes were as red as blood, the river of tears was drowning
her face and they just wouldn t stop. You could hear her trying to hold back her sobs like she had been
holding them in for years. You could hear in her voice she was grief stricken, she cried everyday and
as a friend you would think that I would comfort her, tell her everything was going to be ok and hug
her as long as she needed me to. No, when she came crying to me I told her, You re such a cry baby
just because your grandma died doesn t mean you have to cry every day! I ve said all of these things
and many more to my friends . I ve put them down, spread gossip about them, and was just down right
mean to them. The things that I ve said to them were borderline bullying. I

Analysis Of All The Missing Girls
Is it monsters from the dark, mysterious woods, jealous ex boyfriends, or ditching town? These are all
theories as to why two teenage girls from the, supposedly, postcard worthy town have disappeared in
the past ten years. In All the Missing Girls, Nic is back in her hometown, for a sojourn for the first
time since her friend, Corrine, disappeared ten years ago, and now Annaleise Carter is missing. The
memories of Corrine s case begin to resurface as alibis, motives, and connections between the cases
are questioned. In a small town like Cooley Ridge, rumors are the plague, spreading everywhere not
caring whose lives they ruin. (☺ Metaphor) I finished reading The Woman in Cabin 10, and the
resolution is that Richard commits suicide after killing his real wife, and his fake wife and Lo both
survive. The three most important searches in All the Missing Girls are the search for connections
between the two cases of the missing girls, the search for Corinne, and Tyler s search for love.
The search for connections between the cases leads to Tyler being questioned as a suspect, and Nic
going on a mission to solve the cases. Tyler is suspected because he is dating Annaleise. He claims
they broke up the night before she disappears, which heightens suspicions. He also ditches town after
Annaleise goes missing. Nic thinks, Tyler was starting to feel like a ghost, like if I blinked for too
long, he might slip away for good (Miranda 171). He is fleeing the investigation. By

Theories On The Causation Of Homosexuality
Running head: CAUSATION OF HOMOSEXUALITY 1
Theories on the Causation of Homosexuality
Luke Thomas
The University of Alabama
CAUSATION OF HOMOSEXUALITY 2
Abstract
There are two main schools of thought regarding the causation of homosexuality. The first,
which is examined in this research, is biological cause. Three main categories of thought
exist under biological theory: hormone theory, brain theory, and genetic theory. Each
category contains convincing evidence as to why its respective variations should be attributed
to provoking homosexuality. Hormone theory maintains that abnormal levels of testosterone
expose whether too great or too little is responsible for masculinizing or feminizing
the fetus and thus altering its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The study of its causation, however, has been greatly expanded only within past two
centuries. Many theories have been formulated to attempt to explain what causes sexual
variance, and in particular, homosexuality. These theories can be grouped into two main
categories: nature and nurture. The theories which fall under the nature category maintain
that homosexual behavior results from biological, innate differences between homosexuals
and heterosexuals. The nurture theories, in contrast, state that homosexual tendencies form
as a result of one s sociological environment, and that homosexuality is an acquired trait.
Recent research, however, indicates a stronger assumption towards biological causes of
homosexuality and leads one to question the validity of the nurture theories in influencing
homosexual behavior.
Nature Theories
Theories crediting homosexual behavior to natural, biological factors take many
different routes. The three main subcategories of biological theories include hormone theory,
brain theory, and genetic theory. Although neither the nature nor the nurture theories are
entirely conclusive, recent research suggests more of a correlation between biological
theories on the causation of homosexuality as opposed to sociological theories.
Hormone Theory
Several studies have been conducted in an attempt to prove the

Polynesian Expansion Easter Island, previously named Rapa Nui, is mostly famous for its 10 metre
tall Moai statues dotting the Island. Easter Island is located on the eastern point of the Polynesian
Triangle. Easter Island has four extinct volcanoes, but its largest is Rano Kau, located on the
southwestern headland. Rapa Nui was first settled by Hotu Matu a in 400 CE. He came from the
Marquesas in two large canoes with his wife and extended family. The Polynesians navigated Rapa
Nui, using only the stars and stick charts. They used double hulled canoes as a source of

They used canoes as a source of transportation. Their first canoes were not sturdy enough for open
waters and would capsize if a large wave came. Over time they built their canoes stronger and used a
double hull method to give the vessel more stability. These canoes were called outriggers and could
withstand deep waters (Textbook, 2013). This is what Hotu Matu a used to get to Rapa Nui with his
wife and extended family. Hotu Matu a started the population off at Rapa Nui and spread the word
about it. Soon there were many people on Rapa Nui, as many as 2000 to 3000 inhabitants. There are
over 800 Moai statues on Rapa Nui, one for almost every family (Smithsonian National Museum of
Natural History, 2017). The Maoi statues were carved around 1200 C.E to 1500 C.E and weighed
close to 12700 kilograms, they were 10 metres tall and were believed to protect their creators. Once
the word got around that these Moai statues protected their owners, every person on the island wanted
one. This used all the resources and soon they couldn t even hunt, because there was no wood to make

however the only evidence that points towards this theory, is that these statues were far too heavy to

The Nature Of Science Vs. Religion
No One Man Can Have All That Power
Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath
of life, and the man became a living being (Genesis 2:7). In Genesis God created humans from his
own likeness from the dust of the ground in H.G Wells The Island of Dr. Moreau, the main character
Dr. Moreau is given the perception of God as he also creates humans. He does the however through
science as he uses vivisection, the live dissection of animals, to convert animals into people we call
beast people. Through this creation process he brainwashes these beast people to have them believe he
is as said in Revelation, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the
End (Revelation 22:13). Wells, a known atheist, pushes the limits of science vs religion; Wells argues
that man s hubris in thinking that science can replace religion will lead to their downfall. Dr. Moreau
creates these beast, makes them follow his set of rules and ultimately is there judge, jury and
executioner if they break it.
Each religion has a distinct set of practices that make the religion unique, for the most part they all
believe in a higher even though in this book it was never formally established as a religion, they also
have a set of rules made by the higher power. The way H.G Wells sets up the island resembles most
Christianity, as they both have monotheistic views and have set of rules and practices that are keys in

Soccer Concussions
Although soccer is one of the leading sports to cause concussions, I believe that soccer players should
be able to head the ball at all ages because it takes away from the fundamentals of the game, and it
causes the game to feel unnatural to the players while it also causes players to overthink. On February
16, 2016, the United States Soccer Federation declared that no one under the age of 13 was allowed to
head the ball because of the staggering concussion numbers that soccer had brought in. A concussion
is any trauma or blow to the head, and some symptoms of a concussion is headache, unconsciousness,
nausea, and dizziness. This new rule has made drastic changes to the game that we used to think was
soccer. Not enabling heading for soccer players clearly defies the fundamentals of the game because
players will, or would, often use their head to propel the ball forward to move away from their
defender, but now with the new heading rule, players are not allowed anymore to use their head until
they are at least 13. This new rule will forever change the way that soccer will develop all around the
United States because players will not be able to use a very useful part of their body until they are a
teenager. As stated by Sahar Milani of the American Youth Soccer Organization(AYSO), The new
policy includes that an indirect free kick will be awarded to the opposing team if a player age 10 or
younger, deliberately touches the ball with his/her head during a game . This

The Evolution Of Greek Theater
The Evolution of Greek Theater Greek theater can be considered to be one of the building blocks for
our theater today. The advancements that the Greeks possessed in the early fifth century were the start
of western theater. The Greeks were heavily involved with religion and religious festivals, comedies,
tragedies, climatic drama, and took the outdoor amphitheater and made many improvements to its
structure. In Ancient Greece religion and theater went hand in hand. The Greeks developed religion
that was based on worship of many Gods. In honor of the Gods there were festivals with dancing,
music, and theatrical performances. During the festivals the whole city would come to a complete
stand still. All businesses were closed, politics were put on the back burner, and wars were halted. All
social classes were welcome to come to the festival, and they all did. One of the most famous religious
festivals is the City Dionysia, a festival in honor of the god Dionysus, god of wine, revelry, and
fertility. The festival was held in ancient Athens, in March for five days, featuring dramatic
competitions. These dramatic competitions consisted of dithyrambs, tragedies, comedies, and satyr
plays. The tragedy competition was four plays per playwright, three tragedies and one satyr play.
There were two processions; the first was carrying the statue of Dionysus from the temple to the
theater of Dionysus at the foot of the Acropolis. The second were the patrons parading through the

Victoria L Bromley Feminisms Matter Summary
This feminist study will define the conceptual tool of intersectionality to define the premise of
multiple identities in Feminisms Matter by Victoria L. Bromley. Bromley s conceptualization of
intersectionality is based on the premise that social norms have limied the human identity through a
binary thinking process. The traditional binary focus of society can be found in the way that people
define themselves as being male or female as separate identities. These categories are defined through
a verity of different classifications that tend to divide personal identity through institutions ands social
norms: Categories such as sex, gender, race, and class have long been used to classify and explain
everyday experiences (Bromley, p.48). These traditional mindsets are countermanded by the concept
of intersectionality, which defines a the premise of intersecting identities that can have multiple
variations. This is how Bromley identifies the problem of narrow minded categories of gender, race,
etc. which can be challenged by a broader and more complex understanding of differing identities that
are found within the paradigm of intersectionality. Bromley (2012) defines the overarching social
hierarchies that limit intersectionality, which often involve domination, power, and strict
categorizations of identity. This is defined in Bromley s symbolic use of a pie, which has been divided

Russia 1856-1860
From 1856 to 1964 Russia transformed from a backward, agriculturally based country, governed by an
autocratic ruler and divided by the feudal system to a global superpower that had nuclear capabilities.
These profound changes are attributed to many factors, however through closer examination it can be
determined the extent to whether individuals, events such as wars or other circumstances, for example,
the geography of Russia played the most significant role in Russia s social, political and economic
modernisation from 1856 1964.
Individuals played a role in the social modernisation of Russia, in particular, Alexander II and
Khrushchev. According to Hosking, Alexander II s emancipation of 23 million serfs , went a long way
towards erecting the framework of a civil society . Peasants were no longer owned by landlords, but
rather free to marry and trade, and allowing for growth in the Russian coal production and industrial
output. However, the terms of emancipation didn t go far enough, as the lack of land (peasant farmers

Women in The 16th Century Essay
The belief that women were inherently inferior in intelligence, strength, and character was so
persuasive that for men like Knox, a woman ruler was almost a contradiction in terms ( Documents for
Chapters 5 6 ). In the 16th century, women were looked upon as a gender that should stay in the house
and work, not have power and rule over a country. Discussing the govern of Queens during the 16th
century, such as Mary Tudor, Lady Jane Grey, Mary, Queen of Scots, and Elizabeth I, allowed
prejudices to be lessened but never completely be erased. No matter how these four notable ladies
came into power, the accomplishments they overcame, achieved and wrote about proved to be great
and substantial in making history as it is written today. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a leader and decider of many people, she had to uphold a brave and confident stance to allow the

and like true men stand fast against these rebels, both our enemies and yours, and fear them not; for I
assure you, I fear them nothing at all ( Women in Power , 668). Mary showed no fear and upheld a
very manly position in this statement to keep the people strong. On the other hand, Lady Jane was not
as bold to lead others during her short reign. Lady Jane Grey only held power for a few days before
meeting her demise along with her husband. As a woman in power, Lady Jane had a promising

Shamanism and the Indigenous Peoples of Siberia Essays
Shamanism and the Indigenous Peoples of Siberia
Shamanism plays a role within most tribal communities of the indigenous peoples of Siberia. Within
the community the shaman has many roles; one of his[1][1] main roles is that of a healer. The function
of the shaman is closely related to the spirit world (Eliade 71). A shaman uses ecstatic trance to
communicate with spirits. Spirits are integral to a shaman s ability to heal within his community.
Shamanic activity is generally a public function (Grim 11 12). Shamans are highly respected members
of the community. Shamans are of the elect ; recognition of a shaman can only be bestowed by the
entire community (Eliade 7, 17). Without the community, a shaman is not a shaman ... Show more

The gods created man, and he lived happily until the time when the evils spirits spread sickness and
death over the earth. The gods decided to give mankind a shaman to combat disease and death, and
they sent the eagle. (Eliade 69)
Many tribes, other than the Buryat, consider the eagle, sent by the Supreme Being, to be the creator of
the first shaman . These peoples include the Yakut of Turkhansk, Yenisei Ostyak, the Teleut, and the
Orochon. Therefore according to this legend, the shaman s initial purpose was to exterminate the evil
spirits of sickness and death that plagued the people; in other words, one of the shaman s first
purposes was to heal (Eliade 69 71).
As a healer, the shaman puts energy into the community. The shaman dramatizes and makes visible
the incomprehensible mystery of all existence. . . . The shaman s ritual assures the flow of such vital
energy into the community . . . [with the idea that] no man can succeed in life alone, and he cannot get
the help he needs from men (Vilmos Dioszegi qtd. in Grim 13). An individual needs this assistance
from the higher powers of the sacred and the profane in the spirit world; this assistance can only be
achieved with the guidance of the shaman.
The shaman allows the community to perceive holiness of higher powers by experiencing and
absorbing sustaining, healing power and communicating this power to his community. This power has

Pete Fountain and his Admirable Life
Pete Fountain is famous for his substantial clarinet skills, but many people do not know that he is from
New Orleans. Fountain loved playing music on the side of the street and began doing so when he was
sixteen years old. He always loved his fans, and he treated them with respect. Fountain loved the
awards he obtained. The musicians he played with inspired and encouraged his music. The people he
played with was Monk Hazel, Phil Zito, and the Junior Dixieland Band. Therefore, Pete Fountain is
known as one of the most spirited clarinetists of his time.
Pete Fountain was a young adult when he started playing the clarinet. He practiced on the side of

Character Changes In Romeo And Juliet
In this essay I will characterize Romeo and how he changed over the play and the film Baz Luhrman
directed.
Romeo in the film is always compared to blue or Water. I think the director decided to associate
Romeo to blue to show the audience that he is a calm and trusting person. For example he is always
wearing a blue shirt. He is also associated to water, I think the director decided to do this because
water is neutral, no one owns the water. So when he is with Juliet he isn t the Montague , he is only a
boy. This because water is clean and washes away his name. In the balcony scene when Romeo and
Juliet fall in the water is like both their names were cleaned off and they could be children again. The
film shows us their child innocence and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When he goes there he is clumsy and tripping over everything. He risks his life to see her, which is not
practical, not only for him, who is risking being caught and being sentenced to death penalty, but also
her, Juliet, which if caught is going to be in trouble with her family. In the Elizabethan times, wealth
family girls being caught disoubeying their parents would be sent to a nuns house, where they were
not allowed to see men. The clumsiness when he enters Juliet s house is a big contrast to the Romeo
we saw at the beach who was calm. Although we still see some indifference towards life. We know
this because he risks his life to see Juliet not caring if he got caught. This suugests the audience that he
is still not completely changed and committed to Juliet. This scene also contrasts the ball room scene
that he looks in control. We know this because the types of shots Baz Luhrmann used in that scene and
the balcony scene are different and show different things. In the ball room scene the shots are straight
forward, which suggests he is in control of how people see him. Then in the balcony scene most of the
shots are close up to show emotions or overhead shots to show vulnerability and young

Ugliness In The Bluest Eye
The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison may show a link between the ugliness of Pecola Breedlove and the
town she lives in Lorain. Concerning appearance, Pecola and the town of Lorain are both on the uglier
side. While they share certain outward characteristics, Pecola and Lorain are vastly different on the
interior. On one side, Pecola Breedlove is constantly put down because of how she appears to be. She
is not as attractive as others and the people she meets constantly shut her out because of it. When
Pecola was born, her mother even recollects, Head full of pretty hair, but Lord she was ugly (128).
The person who was to love Pecola unconditionally was biased against her just because she was not as
pleasant to look at as other people. One of the other issues Pecola faced was that she was an African
American living in America at a time when people were still extremely biased against anyone who
was not white. The store owner, Mr. Yacobowski, seemed to look through Pecola because she was not
the same color. Pecola notices the distaste as She has seen it lurking in the eyes of all white people.

The Meaning Of Courage In The Shawshank Redemption, And...
What is the meaning of courage? This is a question that many people ask themselves. Is courage doing
something others are too afraid to do or is it facing your fears and pain? You can find examples of
courage in the books The Kite Runner, Life of Pi, Beastly, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank
Redemption, and Plainsong. I have also shown courage with my past and how I grew up. The way that
I showed courage in my past was facing what scared me the most. Two of the things that scared me
the most was watching my mom get abused and worrying about food. As a kid we were forced to
watch my mother get abused by her boyfriends. The only time my sister, brother and I got food was
when we would go and beg for food from our neighbors. My mom also taught us how to steal, which
was a bad habit I had until I broke it at 12 years old. We all developed habits, my sister hoarded food,
my brother hurt himself, and I stole stuff. When I moved in with my Aunt, I was 8 years old and it was
the happiest day of my life. However, I was still not getting a lot of food because my sister would eat
her food then eat all of mine. This happened until my sister turned 18 and my Aunt found out and
kicked her out because she was abuse me. I found the courage to stand up and tell my Aunt so the
abuse would end. My life started out rough, but at least it taught me what not to do in life and what to
try and avoid. I have shown courage by facing my fears and getting rid of my old habits from my
childhood. You can also find examples of courage in the books The Kite Runner, Life of Pi, and
Beastly. An example of courage is when Assef goes to hit Amir, Assef suddenly freezes because
Hassan has his slingshot aimed at him, which allows Amir and Hassan to get away. Hassan shows
courage by facing his fear of Assef and stands up for Amir and himself. You can also see courage
when Pi has to face Richard Parker and decides that they need each other. Pi had a fear of Richard
Parker because he watched what happened to the goat. This made Pi realize how strong and powerful
tigers are and how they can kill you very easily. Even though he knew this he also knew that they need
to stick together and help each other. Another example is in Beastly when Kyle

3.1: Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults
1.1 I am going to use the role of a T.A for the purpose of explaining the importance of communication
and relationships simply for example purposes.
(A) Communication has always been the most important skill when socialising and building
relationships with people. When first meeting or approaching an individual, be it a child, young
person or adult, body language and facial expressions can form good vibes between individuals. By
bearing this in mind, a T.A can form a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere in which to work upon and

Using appropriate body language i.e. nodding, facial expressions and commenting on what the
individual has to say, and generally showing interest during the conversation, can reinforce
relationships by helping to make the person feel valued, listened to and respected.
Adapt your way of communication accordingly
(B) The T.A should ensure they communicate in a pleasant and clear manner in any situation. In
addition they should take into account whom they are communicating with and adapt their level of
communication accordingly. Naturally the use of language should be adapted appropriately when
conversing with adults or children. Choice of words can ensure children are not overwhelmed by use
of intimidating words they don t understand. The T.A may find it necessary to mentally assess the
individual in order to judge if the person needs to have instructions or conversation relayed more
carefully. Empathy and patience is highly important when communicating with particular individuals
who have might speech disorders or who are particularly vulnerable or sensitive people.
Having respect and consideration for individuals

each person should be treated equally and with respect. It may be that a person is of different race,

The Slate Belt
The bioregion of the Slate Belt is in the northeastern most corner of Northampton County
Pennsylvania. This bioregion is unique to others in the region due to the Martinsville Shale deposits.
These deposits contain high quality slate that when quarried and sold on the market, lead the industry
in the United State for over 100 years. The industry in the south valley consists of cement plants due
to rich limestone deposits and abandoned iron mines in the west for the now defunct Bethlehem Steel.
To the north of the Slate Belt lie anthracite coalmines from other geological deposits. To the east lie
small quasi fertile farmlands and great swaths of deciduous forest. Further, the Slate Belt bioregion is
easily defined by three major geomorphs: the Kittatinny Ridge/Blue Mountain to the north, the
Delaware River to the east and south and the Bushkill Creek to the west. These landforms easily
demark the bioregion. The people of Welsh and Italian ancestry of the local population that quarries
the slate has created a culture that is filled with the pride. All of these unique attributes contribute to
formation of a bioregion that can with effort and proper management become independent and self

The Slate Belt bioregion is nested within the Great Valley Section of the Valley and Ridge Province

My Purpose Of Art
PAINTING
When you re afraid of making mistakes, but do so anyway... when you allow yourself time to fix those
mistakes that is when you succeed.
I use art as a form of escape. At least, that was its initial purpose. It didn t matter that I wasn t good
(because I was, like, 5). Art made me happy and so I simply continued to make it. I took every art
course that my school allowed me to and the few years when they didn t offer one were torture for my
small self. Years later, with permission from my art instructor, I skipped an art course and took AP
Studio Art (a senior class) during my junior year. This was the first time that I had the freedom to
create whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. My artistry improved drastically alongside my
enthusiasm for learning new skills. I went from drawing with pencil to painting with acrylics and
watercolors, drawing digitally, sculpting, and even making jewelry. It was like I discovered my
passion all over again. Art started to become something more to me, and soon I had dreams of
becoming an artist. However, it wasn t until I went to Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) over the
summer before my senior year that I truly grasped the struggle of becoming an artist. Throughout my
whole life, I only thought of art as a necessity; I needed it to stay calm, happy, and organized. But in
just three weeks, I realized that the fundamentals of art posed questions that, to me, were on the scale

competition and help the species release its seeds. According to National Geographic, each year there
is an average of more than 100,000 forest fires that clear 4 million to 5 million acres of land in the
United States. Intense wildfires have been on the rise, increasing to 9 million acres of land due to
climate change, drought, and other conditions. These fires can damage forests so badly that it takes
years for them to naturally recover. Forest fires are caused when you have the fire triangle which is
fuel, oxygen, and a heat source. The more fuel, trees, grasses, and brush, the more intense the fire can
become. National Geographic states, the West is the most common place in the United States for forest
fires. Heat, drought, and frequent thunderstorms are the perfect environment for a forest fire to start.
California experiences some of the worst fires because of the

Essay On The Governess In The Turn Of The Screw By Henry...
Henry James was a prominent figure in Victorian Era literature known for his attention to conscious
perception and ambiguous writing. Because of the mystery shrouding his works, people have become
adept at reading between the lines and filling in his plot holes with their own inferred ideas. His book
The Turn of the Screw is one of his most vague and intriguing pieces and has therefore been a subject
of much conflict among critics. Of all possible theories, most boil down to the reliability of the
governess; is she telling the truth, or has she gone insane? Given James background living with a
philosopher father, a psychologist brother and a sister with numerous mental health issues, critics
often choose the latter theory. The governess ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The governess is struggling to ignore her desires and maintain society s standards of a perfect woman
as well as preserve her innocence and reliability as an authority figure. Since she was taught to look
down upon women who deviate from societal expectations, she imagines Jessel in black, pale, and
dreadful with a dishonorable connection to Quint (James 50, 52). The apparition of Miss Jessel forms
from all the unacceptable sexual motives she finds within herself; a way to reprimand her behavior
without villainizing herself . In addition, Jessel s affair with Quint reflects the governess s unconscious
desire for a forbidden relationship with the master of Bly (Rodriguez 2). The ghosts provide her with a
method to play out her fantasies while avoiding the consequences of an illegitimate child and harsh
judgment, issues Jessel and Quint had experienced in their lives. Furthermore, the governess is afraid
of scaring or tainting the innocence of the children with her abnormal behavior which is evident
through her fear of the ghosts corrupting them. By projecting her dangerous, evil qualities on ghosts,
she convinces herself that she will be inherently better at watching the children, gaining their trust and
even saving them (Otten 2). The governess s method of projecting her flaws onto unseen ghosts gives
her a sense of security and

Your Child s Emotional and Behavioral Development, by T....
In Touchpoints: Your Child s Emotional and Behavioral Development, by T. Berry Brazelton and
Joshua D. Sparrow they created a research study of four children over four years, from three to six.
This is where the book begins an introduction of the four Brazelton babies which are, Billy, Minnie,
Marcy, and Tim. It lists numerous everyday situations that parents are bound to deal with, and instead
of exploding handling it the Brazelton way. Touchpoints as the book explains in the introduction is a
time of vulnerability as the child continues to grow and develop, because during these moments there
are setbacks or regression in their behavior. Billy is a Caucasian, determined and outgoing young boy,

11) There is a description of all four children and their temperaments of how they approach certain
tasks, like the swimming pool. Marcy, Billy, and Minnie would have a determination to achieve the
task, yet Minnie s carefree attitude would entice her to jump in quicker than the others, while Tim on
the other hand who is very sensitive to new situations would shy away, but observe. The learning
experience of all children is linked with their curiosity, something that will follow along with them as
they age. Children are always full of questions as Touchpoints: Your Child s Emotional and
Behavioral Development even continuing to ask without waiting for the answer. It is their way of
cataloging their thoughts . At such a young age though it is difficult for children to understand many
things for example, Marcy wondering how people got inside the television. Marcy s father Mr. Lee
had to explain to her how the television worked, which proved difficult. Brazelton suggests that you
wonder these things along with the child and let them explore the object to get an understanding on
her own. Language is starting to develop during the third year, where children are trying to put
sentences together to get reactions from surrounding people. Words give a child new power over
himself and the world,

Analysis Of Oleg Cassini s King Of Bridal
Pamela Ramirez Briggs Fashion and Textiles 15 May 2017 King of Bridal Oleg Cassini was one of the
most influential designers with one of the longest careers in American history. He was born in Paris on
April 11, 1913 to the Count and Countess Cassini, his grandfather being the Peking Imperial Russian
Ambassador. He grew up with his younger brother, Igor Cassini, who turned out to be very similar in
many ways. As a child he spent most of his life traveling from Russia, Denmark, and Copenhagen due
to his father s occupation. When he became a young adult his dream was to become a soldier or
diplomat. He was unable to fulfill his dream when the Russian empire collapsed, so they moved to
Florence where he studied art with a famous painter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was not until late 1948 when their marriage began to crumble once more due to their youngest
daughter, Christina Cassini, being born on November 19, 1948. In 1950 he knew the marriage would
not last due to the rapidly increasing amount of fame his wife had accumulated in such a short amount
of time. Since his wife was becoming more and more successful, he decided to try out acting in Where
the Sidewalk Ends , but not much came from it. They finally decided to end their marriage in 1952
due to the distance and fighting. Although his marriage with Gene was not his first marriage it
definitely was his last, he was shortly married to Merry Fahrney before Gene, not much about their
marriage is known due to its brief existence. Fashion, movie making, and tennis were not the only
activities that interested Cassini. His childhood dream came true during World War ll when he was
drafted as a U.S. Cavalry due to his impressive horse riding skills. After serving in the war he was sent
back home to New York, where he was determined to become more successful than ever. After his
rocky marriage to Gene he decided to give love a second chance with Grace Kelly. He was not known
as much of a ladies man until Grace Kelly ended their engagement to marry to the Prince of Monaco.
After she broke his heart he was seen

The Buckley Lj On Employment Law
The Buckley LJ comments set out in Montgomery v Johnson Underwood concerning employment
relationship determinations involving mutual obligation and control concepts, underscore modern
English employment law s evolutionary character. The employment law jurisprudence to which
Montgomery v Johnson Underwood contributes is reviewed below. The critical evaluation advanced
in the following sections confirms the now well entrenched mutuality test is a reasonable means by
which this familiar but elusive question concerning employee versus independent contractor status is
consistently resolved. No test devised to deal with highly circumstance driven legal issues will provide
perfect solutions in every case the employment agency circumstances considered in Montgomery
confirm this observation. The mutuality test delivers an appropriate level of essential predictability in
this area.
The broader Montgomery v Johnson Underwood context
The three cornered dealings typically arising between a business enterprise, employment agency, and a
client the agency places with the enterprise provide essential context to Buckley LJ s Montgomery
observations.
The Montgomery claimant was placed by the defendant agency with the agency s client company as a
receptionist. After two years, the agency gave the claimant termination notice at the company s
request. At all material times, the claimant took her day to day workplace direction from the company,
not the agency. However, pursuant

The Necessary Inclusion of Cyber-Bullying Legislation in...
In Canada, the emergence of bullying has risen to new heights as advancements in technology have
allowed almost anybody to conduct harmful acts against another person while maintaining vast
amounts of anonymity (Shariff, Cyber Bullying: Issues and solutions for the school, the classroom and
the home, 2008; Li, Cyberbullying in Schools: A Research of Gender Differences, 2006; Shariff
Jaishankar, Cyber Bullying: A Transnational Perspective, 2009; Froese Germain, 2008). Cyberbullying
is broadly defined as any type of harm that is inflicted upon a victim via electronic means (Bonanno

For kids and adolescents, most of their days are spent at school, in which they can be victims of
bullying (Source?) It is once they get home from school and the bullying continues online that brings
forth the concern of further harm which schools feel they can not control (Froese Germain, 2008;

Students Experiences with Cyber Bullying, 2009; Cassidy, Jackson, Brown, Cyber Bullying:
Developing Policy to Direct Responses that are Equitable and Effective in Addressing this Special
Form of Bullying, 2006) What is mind boggling in the aspect of responses from teachers and
educators in the sense of cyber bullying is the lack of respect that is shown towards the teachers, as
not only does cyber bullying occur towards students, but teachers often also find themselves as
victims (Cassidy, Jackson, Brown, Cyber Bullying: Developing Policy to Direct Responses that are
Equitable and Effective in Addressing this Special Form of Bullying, 2006; Froese Germain, 2008;

deal with cyber bullying in order to fully understand the harsh effects of cyber bullying on students

Pros And Impacts Of Effective Communication In The Workplace
EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION 2
Effective Communication In the workplace, there is no way around not communicating. You will
always be put in a situation where you will always have to communicate with someone, whether it is a
co worker or your boss. The main thing about communication is being able to do it effectively.
Depending on the job, communication skills can make the difference between life and death (Adler,
Elmhorst, Lucas, 2013). Effective communication in the workplace can be challenging at times.
Communication is a process (Adler, Elmhorst, Lucas, 2013). I have 26 guards that work under me and
they vary from age, gender, and race. I cannot communicate with a 60 year old female the same way I
would communicate with a 25 year old male. Once I learned my workers and what worked for each of
them, I was able to get my point across to each one of them. The approach may have been different
but the outcome was the same. It helps knowing which communication behaviors employees use
routinely and effectively to be of benefit when supervisors promote employees to take on additional
communication tasks (Keyton et al., 2013). Not everyone knows how to effectively communicate,
therefore it is important to make sure you have a good communicator when it comes to promoting
jobs. Employees are expected to communicate effectively by those they communicate with or on
behalf of (Keyton et

With this new advertising campaign, Iceland has cut prices of a large number of the products from the
1 pound price value down to 89p with none other than Peter Andre to unveil this new scheme.
I only ever get involved in a campaign when I truly believe in it. Having experienced first hand the
variety of great quality foods, both fresh and frozen, I can honestly say that Iceland is a great place to
shop, full of family favourites and offers outstanding value. (Peter Andre 2014)
As said earlier, the new ad campaign was created to reach out the individuals who purchase the
household goods for their respective families. Each advert is designed in many ways to appeal to
every customer; it shows Iceland s main strong points which are frozen foods that have got no harmful
chemicals, horse meat and any added preservatives which could be harmful to the human body but just
the old traditional method of food preservation which is freezing, the ads also show its standard free
home deliveries from a minimum of a £25 spend with consumer friendly delivery staff and the main
point that Iceland is trying to portray in their new ad campaign is the cut off prices that have been
tagged on most of their quality

Missing Children
INTRODUCTION
Over the years our country, Malaysia has been bombarded with abundance of missing children/
children abduction cases. A statistic released by police of Malaysia, stated that a total of 3223 children
below 18 went missing between 2008 and April last year (2012). Of this figure, only about 1000 cases
were solved.
From the statistic, it s clearly shown that, over 3223 cases reported 2223 cases still unsolved. The
questions are, how does it happen? Who should be blamed? What the impact of this scenario? And
what are the best ways to prevent children from missing?
Thus, in this essay, the priority will be given to the causes, the effects and some suggestions to
overcome missing children cases.

Figure 2 : Section 33 of the Child Act 2001
The Missing Children Life And Safety Are Not Guaranteed.
In some cases, not all missing children reported that they are running away from home. It is because
they might be missing due to the kidnap. Those children who are kidnaped by the criminals might live
in a dangerous and awful life. Some of them are kidnaped to be slaves of criminals; helping the
criminals to find money just like what is happening in our countries. These children are forced to
become beggars and ask donation from the public. In some other cases, we may find out that those
children are forced to become prostitutes. This happens mostly in Middle Eastern Countries. The
world we live in is no stranger to one of the biggest reasons many of our children disappear without a
trace. Many children are abducted and sold for body parts throughout the United States, Central
America, South America and Europe. The Internet has become one of the greatest sources of business
and the organized underground business is one of the most successful businesses anywhere in the
world.
Can you imagine having the need of life and searching the Internet and finding a broker who can find
you the organ of your choice? Here in the U.S.A., in Mexico, El Salvador, Costa Rica, anywhere in
Central, North and South America, anywhere for a price you can pay for and get the organ

  • 2. Comparing The Behavior Of The Stuffer With Distilled Water Part I. Comparing the behavior of the buffer with distilled water First, a pH meter was collected from the stock room and calibrated to prepare for data collection. 25 mL of distilled, DI water was then poured into a clean, dry 100 mL beaker and using the pH meter the pH of the DI water was measured and recorded. The initial pH of distilled water was more basic before the addition of HCl. 1 drop of 0.50 M HCl was added to a beaker using a disposable pipette and the change in pH was recorded. The measured pH was much more acidic after the addition of the HCl. After recording the data the solution was thrown down the sink and a new 25 mL of DI water was placed in a clean dry 100 mL beaker. The used buffer solution was thrown down the sink and then a new 25 mL of the prepared buffer was poured into a clean 100 mL beaker. The same process was repeated like for the HCl, but this time using the strong base NaOH. 1 mL of 0.5 M NaOH solution was added to the beaker with the 25 mL of the buffer and mixed. The new pH was recorded. Again, 1 mL of 0.5 M NaOH continued being added and the pH was recorded until it had risen by 0.5 units. This time more trials were performed. Part IV. Adolescents not only experience profound physical change during this period they also undergo a revolution in the way they think. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are various significant events that occur during the adolescent years. As well as physical and hormonal changes that transpire during puberty, there is vast psychosocial developmental change in the adolescent. Life s focuses/attentions during this period are now far beyond the home and classroom, as the adolescent ventures into exploring more of the outside world. Adolescence is a period of discovery, a time to try new things. This is a time of experimentation, as one pursues new social conditions and relationships. Establishing a sense of gender identity and clarifying one s sexual orientation occurs during late adolescence, and sexual relationships are typically pursued. Experimenting with dress, language and social interactions help them define who they are. It is commonly branded that the adolescent will find their clique . These things are usually expected milestones that an adolescent will reach. Other momentous events that are predicted for the adolescent are the undertaking of part time work, and to be more in thought about their future endeavours. During adolescence, there is also experimentation of risk taking behaviours are common. These experiences are not predicted to occur, although they are known to be normative adolescent associated behaviour as they journey through new experimentation. • 5. Behavioral Characteristics Of An Entrepreneur Concepts of taking risks have regularly been associated with behavioural characteristics of an entrepreneur. A study on intention of nascent entrepreneurs, Caliendo et al (2009) discovered individuals who are less risk adverse tends to enter self employment but this only applies for those leaving regular employment. Risk attitudes however, do not affect the decision process for those moving away from inactivity or unemployment. The early work of Schumpeter (1934) pointed out that the accountability of risk hinders on ownership, and given that entrepreneurs does not necessarily signify owners, risk propensity should be excluded as part of the traits of an entrepreneur. In its place, Schumpeter suggests innovation to be the primary trait of entrepreneurship. Although scholars are ambivalent with regards to the role of risk taking propensity when determining an entrepreneur, yet many studies have taken into account risk propensity as an entrepreneurial trait when it comes to identifying entrepreneurial intentions (Rauch and Frese 2007; Zhao et al 2010; Brandstätter 2011). II. Innovation Innovation has remained a continuously represented functional trait of entrepreneurs in literature (Carland et al 1984; Dyer et al 2008; Schaltegger and Wagner 2011; Nochian and Schott 2012). In Schumpeter s early work (1934, 1942), he reasoned that innovation was a paramount force of economic development as it acts as a catalyst in the success and expansion of an economic cycle. • 6. The Best Practice Procedures The Cls Have Set Up A Number... To coincide with the best practice procedures the CLS have set up a number of risk management procedures for its members and the procedures to become a member. Every instruction must go through various tests before it is accepted by the CLS. (Swiss National Bank p. 8) This series of test includes that the institutions must have a positive overall account balance of the participant s sub accounts with the CLS, a short position limit in any one currency, and aggregate shore positions. (Swiss National Bank p. 8) The first factor of the test of an overall positive account balance is the most important quota to meet for the CLS. By having a positive balance the institution is showing the CLS that they have outstanding credit and will be able to make payments when they make a deal or transaction through the CLS. By safeguarding the credit of institutions applying to be members of the group the CLS are lowering the percentages and allowance for risk knowing that at the time of admittance the pursuing member was in good credit and showed no signs of not being able to pay their transactions. The second risk management of short position limits helps to ensure that institutions will not run into liquidity problems. Each member of the group is allowed an identical limit per currency. By creating these limits the CLS are trying to lower the risk and keep a fair and stable market. If one currency takes a major dive it will not have such a large effect on a members liquidity as ... Many restorations and repairs were made to the building since the time of construction by different owners to fulfill their business needs. The building was a wood frame construction with wooden shingles on the exterior walls that also included a flat roof, but the interior walls surrounding the stage were staffed with sound proof polyurethane insulating foam. The end result was a combination of 583 fire, EMS, and police personnel including 57 ambulances (BLS ALS) and two buses for transportation and shelter. The Local, State and Federal agencies were called to investigate the Station Nightclub fire incident and they found many issues. The polyurethane foam that was on the interior walls was the major factor in the Station Nightclub fire. It was easily ignited and also contributed to a faster fire spread within the building. According to NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, the interior finish is required to be Class A or B for general assembly areas with occupant loads of more than 300. It has been calculated that the number of occupants at the Station Nightclub was around 440 458 people, obviously well over this limit. The ignition of polyurethane foam gave out a magnitude of smoke and heat in such a short period of time and created mass chaos, thus resulting in a crowd wide panic towards the initial entry point. Also NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, section 13.2.3.6.1 states that the main entrance/exit shall be of a width that accommodates one half of the total occupant load and shall be at the level of exit discharge or shall connect to a stairway or ramp leading to a street. Since she receives negative feedback when sharing things, she decides not to share anything at all. Her eyes were as red as blood, the river of tears was drowning her face and they just wouldn t stop. You could hear her trying to hold back her sobs like she had been holding them in for years. You could hear in her voice she was grief stricken, she cried everyday and as a friend you would think that I would comfort her, tell her everything was going to be ok and hug her as long as she needed me to. • 11. Analysis Of All The Missing Girls Is it monsters from the dark, mysterious woods, jealous ex boyfriends, or ditching town? These are all theories as to why two teenage girls from the, supposedly, postcard worthy town have disappeared in the past ten years. In All the Missing Girls, Nic is back in her hometown, for a sojourn for the first time since her friend, Corrine, disappeared ten years ago, and now Annaleise Carter is missing. The memories of Corrine s case begin to resurface as alibis, motives, and connections between the cases are questioned. In a small town like Cooley Ridge, rumors are the plague, spreading everywhere not caring whose lives they ruin. (☺ Metaphor) I finished reading The Woman in Cabin 10, and the resolution is that Richard commits suicide after killing his real wife, and his fake wife and Lo both survive. The three most important searches in All the Missing Girls are the search for connections between the two cases of the missing girls, the search for Corinne, and Tyler s search for love. The search for connections between the cases leads to Tyler being questioned as a suspect, and Nic going on a mission to solve the cases. Tyler is suspected because he is dating Annaleise. He claims they broke up the night before she disappears, which heightens suspicions. He also ditches town after Annaleise goes missing. Nic thinks, Tyler was starting to feel like a ghost, like if I blinked for too long, he might slip away for good (Miranda 171). He is fleeing the investigation. By ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first, which is examined in this research, is biological cause. Three main categories of thought exist under biological theory: hormone theory, brain theory, and genetic theory. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The study of its causation, however, has been greatly expanded only within past two centuries. Many theories have been formulated to attempt to explain what causes sexual variance, and in particular, homosexuality. These theories can be grouped into two main categories: nature and nurture. The theories which fall under the nature category maintain that homosexual behavior results from biological, innate differences between homosexuals and heterosexuals. The nurture theories, in contrast, state that homosexual tendencies form as a result of one s sociological environment, and that homosexuality is an acquired trait.

Recent research, however, indicates a stronger assumption towards biological causes of homosexuality and leads one to question the validity of the nurture theories in influencing homosexual behavior. Easter Island is located on the eastern point of the Polynesian Triangle. Easter Island has four extinct volcanoes, but its largest is Rano Kau, located on the southwestern headland. Rapa Nui was first settled by Hotu Matu a in 400 CE. He came from the Marquesas in two large canoes with his wife and extended family. The Polynesians navigated Rapa Nui, using only the stars and stick charts. They used double hulled canoes as a source of transportation, to get to Rapa Nui. They used canoes as a source of transportation. Their first canoes were not sturdy enough for open waters and would capsize if a large wave came. Over time they built their canoes stronger and used a double hull method to give the vessel more stability. These canoes were called outriggers and could withstand deep waters (Textbook, 2013). This is what Hotu Matu a used to get to Rapa Nui with his wife and extended family. Hotu Matu a started the population off at Rapa Nui and spread the word about it. Soon there were many people on Rapa Nui, as many as 2000 to 3000 inhabitants. There are over 800 Moai statues on Rapa Nui, one for almost every family (Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, 2017). The Maoi statues were carved around 1200 C.E to 1500 C.E and weighed close to 12700 kilograms, they were 10 metres tall and were believed to protect their creators. Once the word got around that these Moai statues protected their owners, every person on the island wanted one. This used all the resources and soon they couldn t even hunt, because there was no wood to make weapons. Some people believe that the Moai statues were placed by gods, and they walked into place, however the only evidence that points towards this theory, is that these statues were far too heavy to be moved by man. Soccer Concussions Although soccer is one of the leading sports to cause concussions, I believe that soccer players should be able to head the ball at all ages because it takes away from the fundamentals of the game, and it causes the game to feel unnatural to the players while it also causes players to overthink. On February 16, 2016, the United States Soccer Federation declared that no one under the age of 13 was allowed to head the ball because of the staggering concussion numbers that soccer had brought in. A concussion is any trauma or blow to the head, and some symptoms of a concussion is headache, unconsciousness, nausea, and dizziness. This new rule has made drastic changes to the game that we used to think was soccer. Not enabling heading for soccer players clearly defies the fundamentals of the game because players will, or would, often use their head to propel the ball forward to move away from their defender, but now with the new heading rule, players are not allowed anymore to use their head until they are at least 13. This new rule will forever change the way that soccer will develop all around the United States because players will not be able to use a very useful part of their body until they are a teenager. As stated by Sahar Milani of the American Youth Soccer Organization(AYSO), The new policy includes that an indirect free kick will be awarded to the opposing team if a player age 10 or younger, deliberately touches the ball with his/her head during a game . The advancements that the Greeks possessed in the early fifth century were the start of western theater. The Greeks were heavily involved with religion and religious festivals, comedies, tragedies, climatic drama, and took the outdoor amphitheater and made many improvements to its structure. In Ancient Greece religion and theater went hand in hand. The Greeks developed religion that was based on worship of many Gods. In honor of the Gods there were festivals with dancing, music, and theatrical performances. During the festivals the whole city would come to a complete stand still. All businesses were closed, politics were put on the back burner, and wars were halted. All social classes were welcome to come to the festival, and they all did. One of the most famous religious festivals is the City Dionysia, a festival in honor of the god Dionysus, god of wine, revelry, and fertility. Victoria L Bromley Feminisms Matter Summary This feminist study will define the conceptual tool of intersectionality to define the premise of multiple identities in Feminisms Matter by Victoria L. Bromley. Bromley s conceptualization of intersectionality is based on the premise that social norms have limied the human identity through a binary thinking process. The traditional binary focus of society can be found in the way that people define themselves as being male or female as separate identities. These categories are defined through a verity of different classifications that tend to divide personal identity through institutions ands social norms: Categories such as sex, gender, race, and class have long been used to classify and explain everyday experiences (Bromley, p.48). These traditional mindsets are countermanded by the concept of intersectionality, which defines a the premise of intersecting identities that can have multiple variations. This is how Bromley identifies the problem of narrow minded categories of gender, race, etc. which can be challenged by a broader and more complex understanding of differing identities that are found within the paradigm of intersectionality. Is courage doing something others are too afraid to do or is it facing your fears and pain? You can find examples of courage in the books The Kite Runner, Life of Pi, Beastly, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, and Plainsong. I have also shown courage with my past and how I grew up. The way that I showed courage in my past was facing what scared me the most. Two of the things that scared me the most was watching my mom get abused and worrying about food. As a kid we were forced to watch my mother get abused by her boyfriends. The only time my sister, brother and I got food was when we would go and beg for food from our neighbors. My mom also taught us how to steal, which was a bad habit I had until I broke it at 12 years old. We all developed habits, my sister hoarded food, my brother hurt himself, and I stole stuff. When I moved in with my Aunt, I was 8 years old and it was the happiest day of my life. However, I was still not getting a lot of food because my sister would eat her food then eat all of mine. This happened until my sister turned 18 and my Aunt found out and kicked her out because she was abuse me. I found the courage to stand up and tell my Aunt so the abuse would end. My life started out rough, but at least it taught me what not to do in life and what to try and avoid. I have shown courage by facing my fears and getting rid of my old habits from my childhood. Over a five year period in South Africa Lake saw 1,000,000 converts, planted hundreds of churches, and raised up over 1000 local ministers. The work was vigorous, however, and his wife died in December 1908. He committed to keep his family together. In 1913 Lake returned to the United States, with his seven ... This bioregion is unique to others in the region due to the Martinsville Shale deposits. These deposits contain high quality slate that when quarried and sold on the market, lead the industry in the United State for over 100 years. The industry in the south valley consists of cement plants due to rich limestone deposits and abandoned iron mines in the west for the now defunct Bethlehem Steel. To the north of the Slate Belt lie anthracite coalmines from other geological deposits. To the east lie small quasi fertile farmlands and great swaths of deciduous forest. Further, the Slate Belt bioregion is easily defined by three major geomorphs: the Kittatinny Ridge/Blue Mountain to the north, the Delaware River to the east and south and the Bushkill Creek to the west. These landforms easily demark the bioregion. The people of Welsh and Italian ancestry of the local population that quarries the slate has created a culture that is filled with the pride. I use art as a form of escape. At least, that was its initial purpose. It didn t matter that I wasn t good (because I was, like, 5). Art made me happy and so I simply continued to make it. I took every art course that my school allowed me to and the few years when they didn t offer one were torture for my small self. Years later, with permission from my art instructor, I skipped an art course and took AP Studio Art (a senior class) during my junior year. This was the first time that I had the freedom to create whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. My artistry improved drastically alongside my enthusiasm for learning new skills. I went from drawing with pencil to painting with acrylics and watercolors, drawing digitally, sculpting, and even making jewelry. It was like I discovered my passion all over again. Art started to become something more to me, and soon I had dreams of becoming an artist. However, it wasn t until I went to Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) over the summer before my senior year that I truly grasped the struggle of becoming an artist. Throughout my whole life, I only thought of art as a necessity; I needed it to stay calm, happy, and organized. But in just three weeks, I realized that the fundamentals of art posed questions that, to me, were on the scale of dinosaurs, aliens, Greek mythology, and even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Research Paper On Forest Fire Air Quality with Forest Fires Since 1970, raging forest fires have doubled. Climate Central reports, this is because of climate change which has brought hotter summers and longer fire seasons. Throughout this paper, I will go over how forest fires are contributing to air pollution, ground ozone, the impacts on humans, and the response to the problem. This is a problem that individuals can t help but there are ways they can keep safe and stay healthy when forest fires arise in their areas. Naturally occurring forest fires are a necessity for certain species like the lodgepole pine tree. Fire helps reduce competition and help the species release its seeds. According to National Geographic, each year there is an average of more than 100,000 forest fires that clear 4 million to 5 million acres of land in the United States. Intense wildfires have been on the rise, increasing to 9 million acres of land due to climate change, drought, and other conditions. These fires can damage forests so badly that it takes years for them to naturally recover. Forest fires are caused when you have the fire triangle which is fuel, oxygen, and a heat source. The more fuel, trees, grasses, and brush, the more intense the fire can become. National Geographic states, the West is the most common place in the United States for forest fires. Heat, drought, and frequent thunderstorms are the perfect environment for a forest fire to start. California experiences some of the worst fires because of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Henry James was a prominent figure in Victorian Era literature known for his attention to conscious perception and ambiguous writing. Because of the mystery shrouding his works, people have become adept at reading between the lines and filling in his plot holes with their own inferred ideas. His book The Turn of the Screw is one of his most vague and intriguing pieces and has therefore been a subject of much conflict among critics. Of all possible theories, most boil down to the reliability of the governess; is she telling the truth, or has she gone insane? The apparition of Miss Jessel forms from all the unacceptable sexual motives she finds within herself; a way to reprimand her behavior without villainizing herself . In addition, Jessel s affair with Quint reflects the governess s unconscious desire for a forbidden relationship with the master of Bly (Rodriguez 2). The ghosts provide her with a method to play out her fantasies while avoiding the consequences of an illegitimate child and harsh judgment, issues Jessel and Quint had experienced in their lives. Furthermore, the governess is afraid of scaring or tainting the innocence of the children with her abnormal behavior which is evident through her fear of the ghosts corrupting them. By projecting her dangerous, evil qualities on ghosts, she convinces herself that she will be inherently better at watching the children, gaining their trust and even saving them (Otten 2). The Buckley Lj On Employment Law The Buckley LJ comments set out in Montgomery v Johnson Underwood concerning employment relationship determinations involving mutual obligation and control concepts, underscore modern English employment law s evolutionary character. The employment law jurisprudence to which Montgomery v Johnson Underwood contributes is reviewed below. The critical evaluation advanced in the following sections confirms the now well entrenched mutuality test is a reasonable means by which this familiar but elusive question concerning employee versus independent contractor status is consistently resolved. No test devised to deal with highly circumstance driven legal issues will provide perfect solutions in every case the employment agency circumstances considered in Montgomery confirm this observation. The mutuality test delivers an appropriate level of essential predictability in this area. The broader Montgomery v Johnson Underwood context The three cornered dealings typically arising between a business enterprise, employment agency, and a client the agency places with the enterprise provide essential context to Buckley LJ s Montgomery observations. The Montgomery claimant was placed by the defendant agency with the agency s client company as a receptionist. After two years, the agency gave the claimant termination notice at the company s request. At all material times, the claimant took her day to day workplace direction from the company, not the agency. However, pursuant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You will always be put in a situation where you will always have to communicate with someone, whether it is a co worker or your boss. The main thing about communication is being able to do it effectively. Depending on the job, communication skills can make the difference between life and death (Adler, Elmhorst, Lucas, 2013). Effective communication in the workplace can be challenging at times. Communication is a process (Adler, Elmhorst, Lucas, 2013). I have 26 guards that work under me and they vary from age, gender, and race. I cannot communicate with a 60 year old female the same way I would communicate with a 25 year old male. Once I learned my workers and what worked for each of them, I was able to get my point across to each one of them. The approach may have been different but the outcome was the same. It helps knowing which communication behaviors employees use routinely and effectively to be of benefit when supervisors promote employees to take on additional communication tasks (Keyton et al., 2013).
