Sibling A
Listening is an essential part of dialogue. If properly exercise, it allows us to absorb information
within messages and exchange thoroughly processed feedback. This exchange offers an effective
communication between parties. The lack of effective listening results in miscommunication,
unessential dialogue and a waste of resources. Here we will discuss the relationship between
siblings. The siblings in this case have a long distance relationship. Sibling A is married with no
children and sibling B has two children, but is separated from her husband. Two years ago sibling
B reached out to sibling A about a pending separation from her husband. The major concerns were
expressed via phone and text. The result of these dialogues expressed a concern... Show more

speaker that they are fully engaged. In addition, the listener should refrain from interrupting the
speaker until they have completed their message. The listener should keep in mind the rule of
replying to statements before changing the subject (Verderber, K. S., Verderber, R. F. 2013, pg.
213 214). In addition, Dr. Passmore recommends for Empathetic Listening , that the listener reflect
the emotion or perceived emotion to the speaker so that they genuinely feel that the listener is
listening (2014). Furthermore Dr. Mc Naughton, adds it is important to let the listener know what
resources or help the listener can provide. Sibling A waits until sibling B is done providing all
relevant information. Sibling B then lowers her voice to demonstrate sensitivity to sibling B s
situation. Sibling A let sibling B know that her feelings are impotant and they are with cause due to
the history with her husband. However, gathering the facts sibling A tells sibling B, her husband
has provided for the family since the separation and she is aware that he is applying for citizenship.
Therefore, sibling A recommends sibling B speak with her husband to clarify what information will
specifically be needed for the documents and sibling A can research how the documents contents
can be controlled. Understanding tht

Calvin cycle The Calvin cycle is also known as the dark reactions or the light independent
reactions . In the light reactions, energy from sunlight is captured, and stored in ATP and NADPH.
These are then passed on to the Calvin cycle. Because the reactions of the Calvin cycle do not
directly require light energy, these reactions are known as the dark reactions of photosynthesis. The
primary purpose of the Calvin cycle is carbon fixation the conversion of carbon dioxide into organic
molecules such as carbohydrates (such as sugars).

Comparing The Classical Theory And Psychological...
Introduction 126
The classical theory and psychological positivism theory can still be used to conceptualise crime in
the 21st century, regardless of the shift in criminological thinking. Both theories offer a unique
perspective as to why individuals engage in criminal behaviour, with one suggesting that an
individual acts by their own free will to engage in behaviour while the other argues that criminal
behaviour is due to internal factors influencing the behaviour. This critique will examine the
characteristics and history of each theory before applying the understanding of both theories to the
real life crime case of Katherine Knight. The application of each theory will examine potential
reasons as to why Katherine Knight engaged in criminal behaviour, while comparing and
contrasting the strengths and weaknesses of both theories. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The classical theory incorporates a more legal definition of crime due to the circumstances in
which it emerged. Crime is conceptualised as a result of a person acting upon their own free will
to engage in the criminal behaviour (SOURCE). However, psychological positivism rejects the
notion and instead argues a person who commits crime is engaging in the behaviour due to internal
factors that have developed during childhood and adolescences (SOURCE). The difference in
understanding can be due to the methods used to approach crime. Psychological positivism utilises
a scientific method to theorise about the deviant behaviour in individuals. However, this is often
criticised as there is no specific method to measure the internal influences (SOURCE). In contrast,
the classical theory ignores the factors that cause individuals to engage in crime, and instead sums
the behaviour to be the rational choice of an individual to engage in behaviour that offers the most
pleasure for minimal pain

The Unique Sense Of Style The Ancient Chinese
Just Imagine, walking around with some type of stigma based one your cloths you had one. During
Ancient China, each dynasty or time period had their own specific style of cloths they wore. Each
social class had different garments they worn to show their position within society. In this paper, I
will take about the unique sense of style the Ancient Chinese had.
Clothes
During Ancient China periods, clothing symbolized the Clothing symbolized the harmonious
relationship between social class and its citizens. Each member of society dressed differently
form each other. For example, peasants and regular citizens dressed differently from high ranked
officials. The high ranked officials dressed in the finest silk for public outings and celebrations,
and less expensive clothes at home. The peasants wore a long shirt like garment, made of un dyed
hemp fiber, which altered little until modern times (Ancient China for Kids: Clothing. (n.d.)). In
addition to higher officials and Peasants clothing, peasant s men wore baggy pants made of hemp
with a loose cotton shirt. Women, who were peasants, wore simple wool garments in the winter and
cotton in the spring. Peasant children wore children size of their parent s clothes (Ancient China for
Kids: Clothing. (n.d.)).
Each dynasty had popular clothing that citizens would were to show off their sense of style. For
example, the tang Dynasty was known for their full dress. The noble women of this time period

Why Is Zeus Important To Greek God
Zeus was the Greek king of gods and was very important in Greek Mythology. His powers are to
control the weather and thunder. His family consisted of Cronos, Rhea, and many brothers and
sisters. In the Greek pantheon he was the top dog and everyone answered to him. He did many
things that were not Christ like. He was not a real god. So that being said, Zeuscould not have been
king of gods because there is only one true God. Everyone has or had parents at one point. Zeus s
parents were Cronusand Rhea. Rhea was a direct descendant of the first Olympians. Cronus was
the son of Uranus, and was the lead Titan. A story was told to Cronus that one of his sons would
overthrow him. So as each son was born, he ate them. Because Rhea was angry that... Show more

It was only through the aid of the Cyclops and the three Hecatoncheires, or Hundred Handed
ones, (www.greekmythology.com) that Zeus won the battle. In Zeus s life he accomplished
many things. Not only did he overthrow his father, he also defeated the Titans at Titanomachy.
This is how Zeus got in power. Before the battle of Titanomachy the Titans were in power. The
Titans were the children of Uranus. Cronus, a Titan, was a very powerful being and was not
easy to stop or control. Although Zeus did not defeat the Titans by himself it is still an important
accomplishment. Zeus had an impressive set of powers, even for a Greek god. He could control
thunder, lightning and weather. Zeus was not born with his powers; he did not even get them until
the battle of Titanomachy. According to Mythology Zeus lightning was made by the three
immortal Cyclops. The Cyclops made the lightning in the belly of earth as soon as they were
born. So if it was not for the Cyclops the battle might still be going on. (www.historylink101.com)
As we know, Zeus is the king of gods and all listened to him. The chain of command was Zeus, Hera
, Poseidon, Atriums, Ares; the list goes on. But this is kind of odd because Zeus was the last born
son of Cronus. He was born with no right to be king. So in a way Zeus s life is mythology s success

Self Dehumanization
Power allows people to control outcomes with respect to both the environment and the self . This
control is considered to be a fundamental human need ; therefore, it follows that powerlessness will
disrupt an individual s sense of humanity, which coincides with the fact that many civilizations have
equated power deprivation with humbleness, lowliness, and fewer expressed human traits. We
based the current study on this notion in order to demonstrate that perceived powerlessness induces
self dehumanization.
The world is changing rapidly. From the Stone Ageto the Iron Age today we are living in an
ultramodern era where things which were not even thought of earlier have become vital
necessities in our life. For example, light in those ages was to be got only from sun for a limited
part of day. But now we have electricity for all time use. Thanks to Thomas Alva Edison who by
inventing electricity illuminated the whole world.
Now we can t think life without electricity. In big cities everything depends upon it. We find
ourselves completely paralysed whenever there is power failure in our area. Electricity provides all
comforts of life and life would be completely different in absence of it.
We will have to use earthen lamps, lantern or candle light instead of electric bulbs and tubes as it
is now. If there would have been no electricity, people would not have become so luxurious with
coolers, airconditioners, refrigerators, room heaters and other electric appliances. The

2. Review whether the actions taken are achieving the desired effect in terms of sales and margins.
This is important due to the frequent changes in the retail market: trends and consumption patterns
are constantly changing, competitors are launching campaigns, new products are introduced, and
so on. Because of these external factors, it may happen that a change in assortment, pricing or
promotion does not achieve the desired effect and a correction needs to be made as quickly as
possible. A category management dashboard with the right key performance indicators (KPIs) and
up to date data is an essential tool for tracking the success of category management actions.

The Importance of Following Orders in the Army
There are many reasons why a soldier should follow the orders they are given and every single
one is important. An order is a tasking given to a soldier of something that needs to be done in a
timely and efficient manner. The three main reasons why it is important for a soldier to follow
the orders they are given is to be combat effective, disciplined, and to just be a good soldier.
When a soldier doesn t follow the orders they are given in not only hurts themselfs but it hurts the
team and the goals of the mission. When the mission objectives are hurt by not following orders
this weakens everything that is necessary to win the war. If a soldier doesn t follow orders while in

The key to all of teamwork, leading, and following is adhering to the instructions of those
appointed over you which brings me to my next point. As soldiers we are drilled almost
everyday to listen to commanders, NCO s and basically everyone higher in rank than us or in
some cases people that have more time in service. We are taught discipline from day one in basic
training when we hit the ground the first time doing pushups to the last right face in the last
ceremony before we see our families. Discipline is crucial to following orders effectively,
without it soldiers would not react fast enough to what is being said or would simply not care
enough about the task at hand to perform it, weakening the team it self. We follow our
commands from higher because we know that whatever decision it is it overall is good for the
Army, U.S or individual soldiers. When an order is given we should aknowledge the order, think
about what needs to be done and execute using the least amount of resources or time to
accomplish the mission at hand to standard and the commanders or NCO s specific commands.
This is the crucial key in performing the mission, soldiers should not question the reasoning
behind the command but execute promptly knowing that their leadership is looking out for him

of the many sacrifices a soldier has to make when they join the

Faustian Bargain Analysis
A Faustian Bargain is a complicated idea which translates in popular terms to selling one s soul
to the devil. This definition consists of four layers. The first layer consists of two different
aspects. The first aspect is doing something evil such as making a deal with the devil in order for
personal gain. The second aspect is in pursuit of a lofty ideal. In pursuing the lofty ideal; the
ideal is corrupted because of the methods to achieve it. The second layer is an unwillingness or
inability to see things as they really are, to see evil as evil. The third layer is the felling of guilt
after making a deal with the devil. The final layer is a third party attempting to convince the person
from completing a Faustian Bargain. Within this layer one must seek whether they are a victim of
external or internal influence. Several common elements of a Faustian Bargain emerge when we
compare Button Button and Dr. Faustus. Those components include motivations of lofty ideals or
self interest, the inability to see things as they really are, remorse, and the persuasion of an external
or internal influence.
Though Norma and Faustus both make a bargain with the devil, their motivations differ. Norma s
motivations are based on self interest. Barnet states that the common definition of a Faustian
Bargain is that some people are so eager to gain immediate power that they engage in actions that
they know are evil (Barnet, vii). Norma s self interest leads her to engage in evil

Female Issues Affecting The Indian Society Essay
Abstract
The age old problem of female related issues affecting the Indian society adversely continues to
exist today in the 21st century. The advancement of new age, technology, scientific inventions,
standard of life, and change in life style has failed to bring in change of the mindset. The problem
of female infanticide in India seems to be persistent. The alarming records collected by local,
regional, national and international bodies only reflect the drastic decline in the male female ratio.
The matter is of serious concern and what is required is not only law but the change that each one
has to bring in understanding that when Nature was impartial in evolving man and woman, why
has the society then brought about gender discrimination.
This paper is an attempt to discuss the present and future repercussions faced due to female
infanticide. Since the society is reflected through literature, art and fiction, the writer has made an
attempt to make a journey of today s reality through Sujata Bhatt s poem Voice of the Unwanted
Girl and Manish Jha s motion picture, Matrubhoomi: A Nation Without Women that is set in the
2050s.

Synthetic Leases
Abstract
By now most of us have heard and read numerous articles about synthetic leases. We also know
synthetic lease transactions are relatively commonplace for financing corporate build to suits and
acquisitions, and that they are widely accepted by corporate real estate executives, financial
institutions, and accounting firms. But is the synthetic lease a panacea for the corporate executive
faced with a leasing decision? Are they the perfect solution for keeping real estate assets oil the
company balance sheet? Are there any drawbacks to a synthetic lease? Before entering into a
synthetic lease, the corporate tenant should know the potential shortcomings of a synthetic lease as
well as when and when not to use one. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Off balance sheet financing, for instance, operating and synthetic leases, not only overstates
corporate earnings and perjures their financial positions, it also allows them to preserve the ratios
needed to assure debt contracts. This decreases the authority of such contracts, because the
companies are not in reality keeping their debt ratios low; they re lying about the amount of debt
they actually have (Edman, 2011). Ethical professionals, who willfully present transparent financial
statements, are the only true way to prevent misconstrued financial statements. Likewise users of
financial data will always have their work cut out for them. Investors must be diligent to
discover a company s true financial state. FASB will never rid the world of every accounting
inconsistency (Edman, 2011). Synthetic leases can serve two important purposes: First, for
financial accounting purposes, they enable lessees/sponsors to treat leases as operating leases,
whereby payments are recorded as rent expense and the underlying assets and the associated
liabilities are kept off the lessee s balance sheet. This treatment of the lease enables the company
to show a stronger balance sheet than if the lease was treated as a capital lease (Soroosh and
Ciesielski, 2009). Second, for federal income tax purposes, these contracts are structured so that the
lessee/sponsor may treat the

Essay on William Morris
William Morris
William Morris (1834 1896) was perhaps the most important British decorative artist of the 19th
century. A prolific designer, craftsman and decorator, his work and ideas have had a major
influence on the development of modern interior design.
William Morris was one of the most influential figures in the
Victorian and Edwardian art world. As a young man at Oxford he became involved with the Pre
Raphaelite movements, mixing with such artists as Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Holman Hunt
and Edward Coley
Burne Jones.
Always a man of innovation, Morris soon tired of the subject matter and philosophy of the Pre
Raphaelites. His desire for social reform was also an important factor in his artistic growth and he

Instead of using a genuine shade of indigo, the design was printed in a Prussian blue, the nearest to
indigo that could be achieved using modern aniline dyes. This led William Morris to speak out
against the capitalist forces, which he considered had brought his industry to a very bad state.
Henceforward there is an absolute divorce between the commercial process and the art of printing.
Anyone wanting to produce dyed textiles with any artistic quality in them must entirely forego the
modern and commercial methods in favour of those which are at least as old as Pliny...
In other words, William Morris ended his connection with Clarkson (who printed the design) and
abandoned production of Tulip and Willow. He also set up a tiny dye house in the basement and
scullery of his house in Queen Square, hoping that he might find his own solution to the problem.
In fact it was only in 1883, after he had established himself at Merton Abbey, that he was finally
able to produce a satisfactory printing of Tulip and Willow.
Preliminary Design
Morris s intricate flower patterns, which seem so effortless and casual in their final form, were
achieved after long hours of patient designing and the production of dozens of different designs.
This preliminary stage was important, as Morris recognised. In a lecture called Making the Best
of It , delivered in 1879, he offered these words of advice to potential designers: no amount of

Ecocriticism In Silent Spring
As a criticism of the trend, Ecological criticism originated from the United States. The publication
of Silent Spring written by Rachel Carson symbolizes the beginning of the American ecological
movement. Just as Uncle Tom s Cabin written by Harriet Beecher Stowe started Civil War, Silent
Spring is the triggers of American environmental protection movement. Since then, ecocriticism
gradually emerged as the times demand.
This concept can be traced back to the 1970s when Joseph Meek came up with the term literary
ecology in his essay entitled The Comedy of Survival: Studies in Literary Ecology in 1974,
advocating that literary criticism should explore the relationship between humans and other
species, and carefully examine and explore the literature s impact on human s behaviors and ...

Positive Effects Of Genetic Engineering On Adults
Forty four percent of people in a poll at Harvard University fund and support studies of germline

Germline Gene Editing). Fifty one percent of people oppose it (Begley). Because genetic
engineering is the future of our medicine, it should only be used for medical purposes on adults.
This paper will explain genetic engineering and what it is, genetherapy, stem cell research, problems

are very few examples where genetic engineering is the only good solution to the medical

As the main character, Hamlet presents the audience with an image of the renaissance man, one
who offers insights into how one might deal with complex emotions such as love and grief. The
audience follows Hamlet on his journey to avenge his father s death, which was brought about by
his late father s brother, Claudius, the current reigning king. The story clearly centres around the
ever hesitant prince and his struggle to enact his revenge. It is Hamlet s procrastination and inability
to act that drives the story to its disastrously orchestrated end. Despite all his faults, the audience
feels a sense of affection for the young prince and connect with him on a level that is unavailable
with the other characters. It is in this connection that the interest of the audience is captured, such
that one can almost experience his joy and his grief, or his jealousy and love, all things that are
encountered by modern day humans. All the choices that Hamlet makes, allows the audience to
understand his character a little better. No doubt, this is the result of good acting and excellent
play writing, however, there is an element of value that only time brings. Another character that
must be examined, is the aforementioned, Ophelia. Stuck in an Elizabethan world where
misogynism is the norm and women don t have a say, Ophelia is subject to the will of the men in
her life. She is chastised by her brother and father for her relationship

Art Reflection Essay Example
This summer I spent my time on South Street, in a store that has a long history there. I came in as
an intern and left a more experienced photographer. In this reflection essay I will discuss the place
in which I interned, the information I researched about my field and what I ultimately learned by
the end of this experience. My internship was hosted at Eye s Gallery, off of South Street,
Philadelphia. This store is related to the famous Magic Gardens, a permanent installation of Isaiah
Zagars mosaic art. Eye s Gallery itself was established by his wife, Julia Zagar, and it is a
boutique focusing around Latin American Folk Art. Many of their original merchandise came
from the artists they met while they served in the Peace Corps. Now they have expanded to
include an extensive collection of jewelry, clothes and include influences from South East Asia.
The store opened in 1968 (Udell), after the building served as their home for many years. My job
at Eye s Gallery was to serve as a product photographer, but my skills were also utilized in fashion
shoots and social media curating. Product photographyis mainly about capturing merchandise in a
way that makes the appealing, makes the viewer want to purchase it. This is exactly what I
aimed to do during my internship. Many of the shoots I was assigned focused on jewelry, which
is the big seller for the store. I was also given a few fashion shoots, where I had to utilize models to
make the clothes appealing. I read an

Essay On Alternative Fuel
Alternative Fuels America needs to free itself from oil dependency. Every day billions of dollars
are spent on resourcing oil from other countries. The United States consumes around 20 million
barrels of oil every day. In the 1970 s when the energy crisis happened, oil prices skyrocketed and
the supply of oil ceased, efforts shifted to find alternative sources of power. Although many
people believe alternative fuels are being researched and developed for environmental reasons
such as reducing our carbon emissions, they are actually becoming integrated into our lives from
an economic standpoint. Hydrogen, Electric, and Bio fueled cars are all excellent sources of Fig.

While electric vehicles are an excellent alternative source, they do have some drawbacks.
Electric vehicles have long charge times and the infrastructure isn t fully developed all over the
world. It s easy to find gas stations along the road, but how often are electric vehicle charging
stations found? The placement of the structures is crucial because the chargers need to be in a
good location. Authors of Retailing Management Michael Levy and Barton Weitz explain that
when a firm decides to open a new station, they must make a substantial investment; either buy
and develop the real estate or commit to a long term lease typically ranging from 5 to 20 years.
When companies set up a charging station its more than just a place to refuel, it s an investment
logically thought out as to where it should be placed. Electric vehicles are an amazing
advancement but some people are turned away who are used to quick gas fill ups. Hydrogen Fuel
cell is another solution to finding alternative fuel vehicles. This technology has zero emissions, a
driving range of 300 miles, and can be refueled and moving again in minutes. Although this
technology is more recent, the military has taken a liking to hydrogen powered cars. Initially,
electric vehicles were appealing to military because of how quiet they are, but setting up charging
locations is extremely difficult and the military doesn t have time to wait for their electric vehicles
to charge while in combat. The hydrogen vehicle was

In Love Medicine Character Analysis
In Love Medicine there is there is various types of oppression towards Lulu and Marie for
example, usually the oppression is aimed at the culture that they grew up with, the race that

use of how these two different cultures interact was meant on purpose by Edrich, and it allowed

with sharing and protecting natural spaces in equal measure. This can be a challenge at times
when the desire to share a place where the public can engage with nature conflicts with the need

where the ocean meets land, and is home to a diverse amount of marine life. Anemone cave is

Nobody can be so sure about their privacy in their own property because they can t be sure

The priest kings represented the gods and made laws. Each priest king would often climb to the

Women tend to be less motivated by the promise of monetary success and more by their passions.
Our survey results supported this social norm because the vast majority of females said that they

minimized off target effects (17bp is the lowest limit on the length of the guiding sequence, any

potential off target effects: Mismatch tolerance between the gRNA and target site is what leads

to the N terminus of a protein coding region is more desirable, because of a frameshift is more
likely to be deleterious.
CRISPR is especially useful, because, unlike ZNF or TALEN, they rely on a guide RNA or

which makes CRISPR much more versatile, cheaper and easier to use. ZNF and TALEN required
synthesis of specific parts of the protein so that a customized target sequence could be

The Importance Of Music In The Socialization Of Children...
Music plays and important role in the socialization of children and adolescents. Music is ubiquitous
and easily available, whether through the radio, social media or other media outlets. It provides
entertainment, and is often utilized as a distraction to relieve stress or boredom. However, as lyrics
become more vulgar and explicit, the effect that certain genres of music, such as rap, hip hop and
heavy metal, have on youth, has become of paramount concern. Research has been conducted on
whether a child s or teenager s preference in those types of music could be correlated with negative
behaviors. Delinquent behaviors of youth who listen to those genres of music are often attributed to
the music itself, rather than how the child current mental or emotional state. Parents, unfortunately,
are often unaware of their child s musical habits. Therefore, when a child exhibits any type of
negative behavior, the parent frequently tries to conjure a reason for this misbehavior; More often
than not, when there is not a reasonable cause to the delinquency, many parents blame the particular
genre of music that their child listens to. This attributes to the negative connotation that is often
associated with heavy metal, rap and hip hop music. All genres of music are a form of expression
meant to entertain certain audiences: not to be negatively thought of, because of how certain
people react to it. In order to reduce the negative connotation associated with heavy metal, rap and
hip hop

Company Overview Of ETF Options
Trevir Nath
ETF Options
Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), similar in many ways to mutual funds, are investment funds
traded on stock exchanges. ETFs track the performance of commodities, bonds, and large indices
such as the S P 500 (SPX), NASDAQ (IXIC), Dow Jones (DJI), etc. Much like stocks, ETFs
experience price changes throughout the trading day in which they are bought and sold.
Fundamentally, the prices of assets traded remain close to, but not always equal, to its net asset
value. Largely attractive due to lower costs, flexibility, minimal capital gains taxes, and leverage for
market exposure, ETFs have become popular amongst investors. With a recent influx of ETF
investments, the risks associated can have severe ramifications to the individual investor and
financial markets. To mitigate these risks, ETFs can have options written against them as a hedging
strategy for speculative investors.
ETF Overview Following the 2008 Financial Crisis, financial institutions sought alternative
investments offering structure, transparency and liquid products. At face value, ETFs provide
investors with a vehicle to meet their demands. Exchange traded funds are classified as open
ended funds allowing investors to gain diversified exposure to financial assets ranging from
emerging markets to large indexes. ETF shares are created by financial institutions which replicate
the market movement of an underlying index. For example, SPDR funds are a group of ETFs
tracking the movement of

Antisocial Personality Disorder ( Aspd ) Essay
Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD)
To be considered antisocial is to isolate oneself from general social conditions and demonstrate
behaviors that deviate from the social societal norm. Antisocial Personality disorder describes an
individual that lacks values and habitually violates societal standards in regards to ethics and social
behavior. Individuals with this disorder can be described to lack empathy, act impulsively, and have
flagrant disregard for other people. It is hard for them to form engage in positive social exchanges
or maintain relationships with others. It was only until the early twentieth century that Antisocial
Personality disorder was named. Previously, these individuals were categorized as psychopaths due
to the thrill seeking and cunning nature of their actions. Psychopaths have the ability to change
their personalities to ultimately get what they desire then revert back to a malicious, egocentric
state. When faced with a dangerous adventure, for those with ASPD the choice will always be to
peruse the danger. This is due to a constant underlying feeling of restlessness (Nolen Hoeksema,
2011, p. 272). Although these traits can be deemed psychopathic this disorder is not only seen in
those who have established themselves as violent criminals, but in those who have established as
high ranking members in society. How can this disorder differentiate itself so starkly within people?
Although there are no direct medical test to diagnose this disorder,

A Contrastive Analysis of Compliments in American English...
When a student gets a high score, his teacher usually says: Good job! . When a child
automatically cleans up the room after playing, her parents are likely to say: You are very good .
When you go to school wearing a new shirt, you probably hear from your friends: That shirt looks
nice on you . Those utterances are called compliments which are used to show that someone likes
someone else s appearance, belongings, or work etc. Due to different cultural background and social
values, English and Vietnamese native speakers have different norms of complimenting as well as
responding to compliments. In this essay, I will discuss the notion of compliment made in
American English and Vietnamese in terms of topics, formulas, and responses. First... Show more

For example, when a host prepares a good meal, an English speaking guest will say The meal was
delicious . In the same situation, a Vietnamese guest will say Chị nấu ăn ngon quá! (You
cook so well!) Formulas of compliment Formulas of compliment drew much concern from
linguists. According to Maines and Wofson (1981), nine popular ways to give compliment are:
NP is/looks really ADJ. (Your blouse is beautiful) I really like/love NP. (I like your car) PRO is
(really) (a) ADJ NP. (That s a really nice wall hanging.) You V (a) really ADJ NP. (You did a
really good job) You V (NP) (really) ADV. (You really handled that situation well.) You have (a)
ADJ NP. (You have such beautiful hair) What a ADJ NP! (What a lovely baby you have!) ADJ
NP! (Nice game!) Isn t NP ADJ (Isn t your ring beautiful?) The first three are also the most
commonly used structures in many countries worldwide. From the examples in part 2, we can
easily see that Vietnamese also follow these formulaic structures when we want to show our
appreciation to hearers. One difference, however, is that unlike American, Vietnamese rarely use
the first person pronoun but the second person pronoun in their compliments. That is to say they
will not say I really like your new haircut . A more appropriate way to express the same idea in
Vietnamese is Your

After reading the article on The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction by Walter
Benjamin, it gives a lot of things to think about art these days and how it should be, whether the
thinking of Walter Benjamin is relevant to our age of society these days is a different part of the
story but how he interprets art in the article is a totally different thing, so let us view a bit about
his article. Our fine artswere developed, their types and uses were established, in times very
different from the present, by men whose power of action upon things was insignificant in
comparison with ours. But the amazing growth of our techniques, the adaptability and precision
they have attained, the ideas and habits they are creating, make... Show more content on

I feel that he has a lot of valid points when he says that our mass production and reproduction of
art does not contain the aura that it is supposed to be. This is true because reproduction does not
give the audience a private feeling towards the work of art since it is not the real thing, it is only
a reproduction. A whole new perception of art is introduced to us, but at the same time, it also
gives a whole new meaning of the art and a mode of distraction to the audience. The aura of arts in
the mechanical world, as Walter said, has been moved into a mythological space and into the cult of
genius.
Moving on to the similarities between his article and the movie Shadow Magic that has been
directed by Ann Hu. When seeing the movie and trying to relate with Walter s article, I think the
most crucial and obvious part is about the aura that Walter has been mentioning again and again in
his writing. Quoting what he said,
...the unique phenomenon of a distance, however close it may be.
As I said before, the aura of art is different when human reproduces it because it has lost its aura
because we do not experience the original thing and seeing that we can see almost everything at a
gallery, it is totally relevant. In the movie Shadow Magic, it proven my point when in the last
scene, people were totally captivated by the view of the top of The Great Wall of China. The
audience was not really at the top of the Great Wall but the

The Real Estate Appraisal Process
Real Estate Appraisal Process Executive Summary The real estate appraisal process is a process
that affects nearly everyone who lives in a home. Most people do not have the funding to
purchase a home outright and must rely on financing to purchase their homes. Banks require
that a real estate appraisal be conducted to determine what the market value of a property is so
they know how much the property is worth as collateral for the loan. Therefore the appraisal
serves as the basis for factors such as determining a fair market price, how much collateral a
property can offer a lender, or in some cases even how much a property should be able to earn in
income in a best use scenario. This report will outline the basic steps of evaluating the value of
property as well as discuss some of the considerations surrounding the appraisal process in general.
Three Approaches to Value There are three primary routes to establishing a real estate property
values and these methods differ significantly. The most common for residential real estate is the
determination of market value or the sales comparison approach. This method utilizes sales data to
determine what other similar properties in the local market have sold for. Another method of
determining value is through a cost approach which is more typical in new construction. For
example, when a contractor builds a new house or structure they might charge for the materials and
labor that was used plus some amount of

slavery and its sectional issues
DBQ # 6 Slavery and Sectional Attitudes
One effect on the issue was that the economy in the south was fueled by cultivation of staple
crops that required slaves for labor. In the South slavery wasn t thought as an evil as in the North
because to the Southerners defense the slaves in their opinion were treaty in contrast to workers in
England and peasants that were Irish, also the end of slave trade brought higher value to the slaves
causing their owners to be less harsh because they were more valuable. Although slavery fueled the
economy in the South it was not the same in the North therefore there was no complete dire need
for slavery, and although the slaves probably weren t treated as bad as the north had thought they

Owners or bounty hunters that tore up their papers gave the people no proof. Therefore they were

Document G, is a catechism for slaves, speaking on how slaves should behave, using God. This
catechism made sure that slaves knew that they should be obedient and work for Gods will. It
made it as though God gave them the privilege of having a master or mistress and that all this
was in the bible. Document H, is a poster of Uncle Tom s Cabin. Uncle Tom s Cabin and the slave
laws that allowed bounty hunters to hunt slaves in the north along with criminalizing those that hid
or support slaves in any manner brought the issue of slavery to a far greater public in the north.
This exposure to the slave issue and the many instances of violence greatly angered the northern
population. Those that did not care about slavery did care about armed gangs marauding over the
country side. Some instances became very bloody. There was an instance in which a town refused
to release a freed slave in to the hands of bounty hunters and federal Marshall had to be brought in
to escort the now free slave and the bounty hunters back south. There were bounty hunters that were
killed by anger mobs and people that were beaten, tortured, and killed by bounty hunters. They were

Bacterial Conjunctivitis Essay
Bacterial Conjunctivitis
Bacterial Conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye , is one of the most well known and
treatable eye infections for both children and adults. The name was chosen because it is an
inflammation of the conjunctiva. The conjunctiva is the clear membrane that covers the white part
of the eye and lines the inner surface of the eyelids. It is commonly called pink eye because of the
red color of the eye from irritation and was described as such.
Several different microorganisms cause Bacterial Conjunctivitis, the most common being
Haemophilus aegyptius, the Koch week bacillus. This type of bacterium is gram negative and rod

Both eyes are usually infected although is often starts in just one eye and the eyes are itchy and
painful. Bacterial conjunctivitis causes an increase one s sensitivity and also cause pain when
exposed to light. When vision in bright light is impaired it is referred to as photophobia. Ear
infections often accompany Bacterial Conjunctivitis.
Bacterial Conjunctivitis has a relatively short incubation period. Most cases are cured in 3 5
daysand there is rarely any permanent damage. The disease is treated with antibiotics that
typically contain Sulamyd and administered as eye drops or an ointment for 7 10 days. Oral
antibiotics can be given for certain types of bacteria. It is important, however, to continue
medication as instructed by the physician, even after the symptoms have cleared. If antibiotics are
not taken, the disease will run its course in fourteen days and a wet washcloth over the eyelids may
help relive some discomfort. An over the counter Saline Solution, artificial tears , can be used to
relive itching and burning, but precautions should be taken so that the bottle never touches the
infected eye. Sunglasses can be worn relieve pain from the bright light.
It should be noted that Bacterial Conjunctivitis is extremely contagious, especially in places with

Good Vs. Evil In Ann s Absence Of Evil
This chapter opens with the story of Ann s son s farm accident. In this accident, her son injures his
hand. Ann gives this story as an example of hard eucharisteo, or the hard thanks. Hard eucharisteo
is when you praise God through the tears and tough times. Ann notes that light can shine after
darkness. She thinks about the nature of evil. She compares evil to a shadow, which is an absence
of light. Ann believes that Evil is just an absence of good. Ann goes on about how God
transfigures bad things into good things. Ann believes that God allows grief and pain, so that He
can then use it in our lives for our gain and His glory. She goes on saying that God can use
darkness for good things in our lives. Ann believes that without illness we could

Websites Advantages And Disadvantages
Today, most online websites have their own online assistance such as live chat room, email and
FAQ (frequently asked questions) that offer the customers an easy way to get in touch when
they need help. Help desk has been here for many years. Its history is very important because it
has structured how users handle their technical issues. Before the computer boom, users with
technical problems would have to get in contact with a call center to resolve their problems.
With the constant growth of the technical advancement, help desk is something that is very
much needed. Websites have helped users with online assistance because of the convenient it
offers compared to pre websites. One of the major things customers and users look for is
convenience. Websites have helped make it like this because of the many ways that they can
receive contact. One of the ways to contact websites are through email. Instead of calling a call
center and having to be on hold for a long period, the user could just send them an email
regarding the question they have. Typically, emails are answered within a couple business days.
Each company has their own methods of answering emails, a popular one is auto responder. An
auto responder is a script that automatically returns a prewritten message to anyone who submits e
mail to a particular address (What is the purpose of an auto responder?). This not only makes it
easier for larger companies because of the time they save it also saves the time of the

The Declaration Of Independence From Great Britain
In 1776, the United States continental congress ratified the Declaration of Independence from
Great Britain. Following the adoption of the Declaration of Independence and the Articles of
Confederation, the next few years displayed a great amount of progression for the protection of the
American citizen by implementing the United States Constitution. The first three articles of the
Constitution focused on the division of power between the President and Congress, which
comprised of the House of Representatives and Senate. Since the Constitution s establishment, the

415). In 1973 Congress adopted the War Powers Resolution in attempt to rein the President in and
consult with Congress when it came to taking any action when introducing troops to hostile regions.
There have been a number of President s who have used their executive power to move U.S. troops
into countries of a hostile nature that were of no immediate threat to the U.S. homeland. President
Wilson sent troops to Vera Cruz during the Mexican Revolution, President Carter sent aid in the
form of helicopters to hostages in Iran, and President Clinton bombed both Iraq and Serbia (Currie,
Pg. 41). Most of those actions leaned towards more of a humanitarian effort, rather than a deliberate
attack on U.S. national security.
The current U.S. President, Barack Obama, has continued this humanitarian and moral trend with
the use of U.S. military force in Libya and Syria. However, both events are very much different in
seeking the approval or consultation by Congress given their political context. In 2011, Libyan
leader Muammar Gaddafi, had come under the international spotlight as a major threat to the
citizens of Libya. Given Libya s location centered amongst several Arab states, there was much at
stake for U.S. interest. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the United Nations also
backed the U.S. and other NATO allies military

The Effect Of Breastfeeding On Ovarian And Breast Cancer...
Introduction
Since some years, there has been fundamental shift in infant nutrition research due to increasing
evidence that the role of early nutrition during this vital period of life has deep biological effects
and has an important consequence both in long and short term health (Fewtrell 2007).
The research that has been done in this area offers strong evidence that human milk feeding
decreases the severity and incidence of a vast range of infectious diseases (Garner 1997). There are
many benefits of breastfeeding reduces the ovarian and breast cancer risks and a reduction in other
types of systemic health such as obesity, overweight, asthma and morbidity. In this way
breastfeeding also becomes one of the main causes of benefits for the mothers (Horta 2013).
In their report, WHO also recommends the exclusive breastfeeding until the infant is six months
old. They further, recommend that the children should consume breastfeeding complemented with
food intake until they are two years old (Horta 2013).
Formula fed vs. Breastfed
The evidence that is present regarding the infant feeding as a risk factor for dental caries in
inconsistent in many ways. The risk regarding dental caries is closely related to carbohydrate
content in breast milk besides the factors that decide the length of contact between the erupted
dentition and the breast milk (Danielsson 2009).
In contrast to formula, breast milk contains breast specific Lactobacilli and other substances that

In addition, the listener should refrain from interrupting the speaker until they have completed their message. The listener should keep in mind the rule of replying to statements before changing the subject (Verderber, K. S., Verderber, R. F. 2013, pg. 213 214). In addition, Dr. Passmore recommends for Empathetic Listening , that the listener reflect the emotion or perceived emotion to the speaker so that they genuinely feel that the listener is listening (2014). Furthermore Dr. Mc Naughton, adds it is important to let the listener know what resources or help the listener can provide. Sibling A waits until sibling B is done providing all relevant information. Sibling B then lowers her voice to demonstrate sensitivity to sibling B s situation. Sibling A let sibling B know that her feelings are impotant and they are with cause due to the history with her husband. However, gathering the facts sibling A tells sibling B, her husband has provided for the family since the separation and she is aware that he is applying for citizenship. Therefore, sibling A recommends sibling B speak with her husband to clarify what information will specifically be needed for the documents and sibling A can research how the documents contents can be controlled. • 7. Comparing The Classical Theory And Psychological... Introduction 126 The classical theory and psychological positivism theory can still be used to conceptualise crime in the 21st century, regardless of the shift in criminological thinking. Both theories offer a unique perspective as to why individuals engage in criminal behaviour, with one suggesting that an individual acts by their own free will to engage in behaviour while the other argues that criminal behaviour is due to internal factors influencing the behaviour. This critique will examine the characteristics and history of each theory before applying the understanding of both theories to the real life crime case of Katherine Knight. The application of each theory will examine potential reasons as to why Katherine Knight engaged in criminal behaviour, while comparing and contrasting the strengths and weaknesses of both theories. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The classical theory incorporates a more legal definition of crime due to the circumstances in which it emerged. Crime is conceptualised as a result of a person acting upon their own free will to engage in the criminal behaviour (SOURCE). However, psychological positivism rejects the notion and instead argues a person who commits crime is engaging in the behaviour due to internal factors that have developed during childhood and adolescences (SOURCE). The difference in understanding can be due to the methods used to approach crime. Psychological positivism utilises a scientific method to theorise about the deviant behaviour in individuals. However, this is often criticised as there is no specific method to measure the internal influences (SOURCE). In contrast, the classical theory ignores the factors that cause individuals to engage in crime, and instead sums the behaviour to be the rational choice of an individual to engage in behaviour that offers the most pleasure for minimal pain ... • 10. Why Is Zeus Important To Greek God Zeus was the Greek king of gods and was very important in Greek Mythology. His powers are to control the weather and thunder. His family consisted of Cronos, Rhea, and many brothers and sisters. In the Greek pantheon he was the top dog and everyone answered to him. He did many things that were not Christ like. He was not a real god. So that being said, Zeuscould not have been king of gods because there is only one true God. Everyone has or had parents at one point. Zeus s parents were Cronusand Rhea. Rhea was a direct descendant of the first Olympians. Cronus was the son of Uranus, and was the lead Titan. A story was told to Cronus that one of his sons would overthrow him. It was only through the aid of the Cyclops and the three Hecatoncheires, or Hundred Handed ones, (www.greekmythology.com) that Zeus won the battle. In Zeus s life he accomplished many things. Not only did he overthrow his father, he also defeated the Titans at Titanomachy. This is how Zeus got in power. Before the battle of Titanomachy the Titans were in power. The Titans were the children of Uranus. Cronus, a Titan, was a very powerful being and was not easy to stop or control. Although Zeus did not defeat the Titans by himself it is still an important accomplishment. Zeus had an impressive set of powers, even for a Greek god. He could control thunder, lightning and weather. Zeus was not born with his powers; he did not even get them until the battle of Titanomachy. According to Mythology Zeus lightning was made by the three immortal Cyclops. The Cyclops made the lightning in the belly of earth as soon as they were born. So if it was not for the Cyclops the battle might still be going on. (www.historylink101.com) As we know, Zeus is the king of gods and all listened to him. The chain of command was Zeus, Hera , Poseidon, Atriums, Ares; the list goes on. But this is kind of odd because Zeus was the last born son of Cronus. He was born with no right to be king. • 11. Self Dehumanization Power allows people to control outcomes with respect to both the environment and the self . This control is considered to be a fundamental human need ; therefore, it follows that powerlessness will disrupt an individual s sense of humanity, which coincides with the fact that many civilizations have equated power deprivation with humbleness, lowliness, and fewer expressed human traits. We based the current study on this notion in order to demonstrate that perceived powerlessness induces self dehumanization. The world is changing rapidly. From the Stone Ageto the Iron Age today we are living in an ultramodern era where things which were not even thought of earlier have become vital necessities in our life. For example, light in those ages was to be got only from sun for a limited part of day. But now we have electricity for all time use. Thanks to Thomas Alva Edison who by inventing electricity illuminated the whole world. Now we can t think life without electricity. In big cities everything depends upon it. We find ourselves completely paralysed whenever there is power failure in our area. Electricity provides all comforts of life and life would be completely different in absence of it. We will have to use earthen lamps, lantern or candle light instead of electric bulbs and tubes as it is now. If there would have been no electricity, people would not have become so luxurious with coolers, airconditioners, refrigerators, room heaters and other electric appliances. The ... As soldiers we are drilled almost everyday to listen to commanders, NCO s and basically everyone higher in rank than us or in some cases people that have more time in service. We are taught discipline from day one in basic training when we hit the ground the first time doing pushups to the last right face in the last ceremony before we see our families. Discipline is crucial to following orders effectively, without it soldiers would not react fast enough to what is being said or would simply not care enough about the task at hand to perform it, weakening the team it self. We follow our commands from higher because we know that whatever decision it is it overall is good for the Army, U.S or individual soldiers. When an order is given we should aknowledge the order, think about what needs to be done and execute using the least amount of resources or time to accomplish the mission at hand to standard and the commanders or NCO s specific commands. This is the crucial key in performing the mission, soldiers should not question the reasoning behind the command but execute promptly knowing that their leadership is looking out for him /her. • 15. Faustian Bargain Analysis A Faustian Bargain is a complicated idea which translates in popular terms to selling one s soul to the devil. This definition consists of four layers. The first layer consists of two different aspects. The first aspect is doing something evil such as making a deal with the devil in order for personal gain. The second aspect is in pursuit of a lofty ideal. In pursuing the lofty ideal; the ideal is corrupted because of the methods to achieve it. The second layer is an unwillingness or inability to see things as they really are, to see evil as evil. The third layer is the felling of guilt after making a deal with the devil. The final layer is a third party attempting to convince the person from completing a Faustian Bargain. Within this layer one must seek whether they are a victim of external or internal influence. Several common elements of a Faustian Bargain emerge when we compare Button Button and Dr. Faustus. Those components include motivations of lofty ideals or self interest, the inability to see things as they really are, remorse, and the persuasion of an external or internal influence. Though Norma and Faustus both make a bargain with the devil, their motivations differ. Norma s motivations are based on self interest. Off balance sheet financing, for instance, operating and synthetic leases, not only overstates corporate earnings and perjures their financial positions, it also allows them to preserve the ratios needed to assure debt contracts. This decreases the authority of such contracts, because the companies are not in reality keeping their debt ratios low; they re lying about the amount of debt they actually have (Edman, 2011). Banks require that a real estate appraisal be conducted to determine what the market value of a property is so they know how much the property is worth as collateral for the loan. Therefore the appraisal serves as the basis for factors such as determining a fair market price, how much collateral a property can offer a lender, or in some cases even how much a property should be able to earn in income in a best use scenario.
