The Effect Of Kermadec Arc Volcanic System Between...
Recommended area for further investigation and why
Samples were dredged and analysed from four sites along the Kermadec Arc volcanic system
between Macauley Island in the North to Rumble II West in the South. As a result of chemical of
analyses of the rocks, the two sites recommended for further investigation are in the southern part
of the arc where the Brothers (site 3) and Rumble II West (site 4) volcanoes are located. Both these
volcanoes have large calderas which are associated with hydrothermal activity, and Brothers Volcano
has erupted silicic rocks which are also associated with hydrothermal activity (Nichols, 2009 p271).
Hydrothermal activity and the sulphur rich fluids generated can be a source of sulphide minerals
for lead, zinc and copper.
Rock types found at Brothers Volcano were analysed as dacite and rhyolite, both of which erupt
from silicic magmas. The graphs of major and minor elements for site 3 showed distinctly different
values compared to the other samples, indicating a different magma chemistry at this site. The plot
of the minor trace elements showed high barium levels. Barite is the most common sulphate
material associated with barium and is also commonly sourced in hydrothermal processes along
with lead, zinc and copper. Numerous surveys have discovered active hydrothermal systems and
Brothers volcano is considered to have the most active hydrothermal activity in the Kermadec Arc
(Embley et al., 2012) (Gns.cri.nz, 2015). As described the

The Sun Is One Of The Most Significant Sources Of...
The Sun is one of the most significant sources of renewable energy. In one hour the Earth
receives enough energy from the Sun to meet its needs for nearly a year. A Photovoltaic (PV)
cell is a semiconductor device that directly converts the energy of solar radiation into electric
energy. In general, an element that converts sunlight into electricity is called a PV device. The
fundamental PV device is the PV cell, while a set of connected cells form a panel or module. As
an array either a module or a set of modules can be considered cite{Breza2013}. The purpose of
this chapter is to provide an introduction into the photovoltaic solar energy and to present the
fundamental knowledges on the behavior and the functioning of the PV devices. Furthermore, the
different PV models are discussed. section{Solar Energy Conversion} The basic element of a
photovoltaic system (PV) is solar cells which convert the sunlight energy directly to direct current
by means of the photovoltaic effect. Thus, It is crucial to understand the basic of a PV cell
construction and its relationship with the incidence of the light. subsection{Photovoltaic Cell
Construction } In a typical photovoltaic cell, two layers of doped silicon semiconductor are
tightly bonded together cite{Chin2015} cite{Villalva2009} cite{Ma2013a}. One layer is
modified to have excess free electrons (a n layer), while the other layer is treated to have an excess
of electron holes or vacancies (a p layer). When the two dissimilar

President Of South State University
As President of South State University (SSU) I have been tasked to address the downward spiral
of enrollment along with the decline in staff productivity and morale. These three issues have also
caused a deviation from the South State University s mission. In order to address these issues and
improve the organization, I have decided to utilize the transformational leadershipapproach.
Northouse (2016) describes transformational leadership as the process that changes and transforms
people by considering the emotions, values, ethics, standards, and long term goals. This leadership
style will provide us with some options on how to deal with the existing issues. In addition, the
transformational leadership style will help increase staff morale... Show more content on

In addition, the University should utilize social media to its maximum potential. For example, a
maintaining an updated Facebook page would allow the new Millennials to become familiar with
SSU. The university can share important accomplishments, current events, and student
achievements in order to develop a welcoming and personable connection with its audience. Lastly,
the University could also utilize a small percentage of the budget toward scholarship opportunities.
These recommendations should promote SSU, which will lead to an increase in student enrollment.
Transformational Leadership
Idealized Influence According to Northouse (2016), this concept consists of the leader portraying a
strong role model with strong ethical values. Since I have just been hired by the University,
utilizing this transformational quality will help me develop a trustful relationship with different
members of the organization. The establishment of trust will help me articulate my new ideas and
recommendations toward SSU. In addition, this quality will also develop an effective
communication system between me and the organizations members. Furthermore, Northouse
(2016) also mentions that the idealized influence shares a clear and concise organizational mission.
Current members of the organization are beginning to deviate away from the University s mission.

Emotions In Horror Films
I personally tend not to be a big fan of horror movies, although in the past I have watched some
suspense films as occasional entertainment. Having witnessed difficult situations in real life does
not bring me closer toward those movie genres which aim to terrorize audiences. Because of this, I
cannot really handpick a particular scene or filmwhich has caused the biggest fright. I will rather
explain my point of view regarding this genre and our interactions with it.
Most, if not all of us, have experienced intense emotions when watching films in these categories.
Modern society, not only in America, but elsewhere, has become addicted to intense emotions and
almost immune to the carnage and terror found in many horror films. Long gone ... Show more

The effects of a movie or a TV show stay in our minds long after they have ended. Movies do
expand our intelligence and emotions, and make us feel sensations that are not usually
experienced in our day to day lives. They also help us understand life and remind us what humans
are capable of doing, both in the terms of good actions and evil deeds. But the necessity of fright
and intense emotions seems to be the sequels of an addiction to passionate emotional responses.
Anger, fear, hate, anxiety, and thrill: they are all emotions and feelings that are brought forward
by violent media. This addiction recalls our own fears about the unknown, about our doubts and
questions about life and death. Horror films help us understand death and our personal
relationship with it, and sometimes they bring us closer to come to terms with it. By watching
horror movies and shows, the individual experiments with the certainty of death in a form that is
not far from grotesque and unhealthy, while still opening his mind and soul to a reality that
awaits all of us. And maybe when the time comes and we need to face it, we will understand that
those movies we saw or those books we read, filled with fear and horror, are not as bad as we really

Kidd Pivot Dark Matters Analysis
Crystal Pite professional choreographic journey took off in 1990, at Ballet British Columbia.
Over the past twenty sex years Pite has created over forty works for different companies.
Choreographer Pite founded Kidd Pivot in 2002. According to Kidd Pivot organization, In 2002,
she formed Kidd Pivot in Vancouver. Integrating movement, original music, text, and rich visual
design, Kidd Pivot s performance work is assembles with recklessness and rigour, balancing sharp
exactitude with irreverence and risk. (Kidd Pivot Organization). Kidd Pivot has a unique language
for all of their choreographed works. Their movement is considered classical with freedom that
allows their movement to be free on stage. According to KPO, The Company s distinct... Show

Critics have said that is one of Pite best work. Dark Matters is as much a study of the human
condition, and of the violence in nature especially our own natures. This dance tiptoes along the
edge of hysteria, describing our clammy response to the unknown. (Johnson). Dark Matters
explores violent behavior and how all each person deals with their state of mind differently.
However, there are some critics who believe the movement is unrealistic. The movement lacks
gravity because of constant rolls and drifts in the body. The dancers in Kidd Pivot Frankfurt RM s
new performance, Dark Matters, at the Newmark Theatre, seem entirely unencumbered by the
laws of physics. Their bodies float through space and slide and roll across the ground like they
ve never known gravity or friction. (Scott). It is obvious that their movements took a lot of
structure and discipline to perform. Furthermore, the ending is what took everyone by surprise.
This piece ended in a duet that was full on puppet like qualities. The movement was constant and
repetitive like someone was pulling the strings to control them. The evening ends with a duet that
s both puppet like and divinely human. Taken with everything that came before it, you re left
thinking about manipulation of every kind, and power, to the extent that anyone has it. And that
itself is powerful stuff. (Wisener). The ending left everyone in awe. It was tragic when the male
lead died from a broken heart. In the end the female lead began to pick at the dead man heart.
This part was inhumane because she was sewing his heart back together hoping that he would
come back to life. (Dark Matters). Overall, great performance. Pite did a good job at imagining
how she wanted her choreography and vision to come

Handling Of Bags By Airlines Essay
Confirm your luggage and passenger information in the kiosk. Upon confirmation, the kiosk then
dispenses destination tag. Attach that luggage destination tag to each luggage. Together with the
tags, the kiosk will also dispense the boarding pass for the passenger. Step 4
Place the luggage where directed or indicated. For some airlines and in some airports, the
passengers may have to carry their luggage for a short distance up to the luggage collection area.
Whereas, there are some airlines that have stationed personnel at each kiosk to take the passengers
luggage once one complete the check in procedure (James).
The Baggage Delay Problem
Handling of bags by airlines remains a challenging aspect in the baggage handling process and this
is bound to be an issue facing Emirates. The expanding air traffic increases the stress on the airline s
bag operations, delays and consequent unexpected alterations to schedules. These can negatively
affect the airline as a whole. In a similar manner to other businesses, Emirates encounters its own
set of challenges in its operations. One of the main problems relates to the delays that passengers
experience when dropping their baggage at check in counters. Normally, this can be attributed to
the long processes and queues that arise in printing of tags and sorting out the baggage. Often, the
sorting of the bags and printing of tags that take place at the check in counter ends up creating long
queues and unnecessary delays. The delays that

Hydrogen Power and Energy
Most of the energy we produce causes waste and pollution. Water allows us to cut some of this out
of the equation. In 1874, a French author named Jules Verne wrote that hydrogen has the potential
to be our next fuel source long before its potential was even discovered. And above all else, its
abundant! Not only is the earth covered in 70% of water, but 90% of all matter contains hydrogen
in it. Hydrogen itself produces miniscule amounts of pollution when burned. The problem that
stands is that hydrogen is only found as a compound, and not by itself. Water contains a good
amount of hydrogen, but also contains oxygen. However, we can extract the hydrogen atoms
through a process called electrolysis. Electrolysis separates the hydrogen atoms from the oxygen
atom to create HHO gas.
The problem with this however is that electrolysis requires electricity to decompose the compound.
The more current that is passed through the water the more chemical change it will undergo.
Electrolysis is carried out in an electrolytic cell which don t contain a membrane. These cells
contains two electrodes which separates the oxygen and the hydrogen.
Now when most people think of converting water into energy, they usually think of water powered
cars. Even though this is not entirely what electrolysis does, it isnt too far off. Fuel cell technology,
even though it is still being developed, works with electrolysis to make this possible. An obstacle
with making fuel cell technology possible is

the select United Kingdom citizens living elsewhere in the EU, but not the United Kingdom.

resident for five years, they can apply for settled status, those arriving after the cut off point will be
able to stay temporarily, But there should be no expectation they will be granted permanent

Kate Spade Essay
Kate Spade, founded by Kate Spade and Andy Spade on January 1993, is an American fashion
design corporation for clothing, handbags, jewelry, and other accessories. Currently, the
organization had been in a competition with Coach Inc. and Michael Kors since its establishment.
However, Kate Spade demonstrated the key elements of critical thinking necessary to turn risk into
opportunities, which ultimately resulted in organizational success in the fashion industry.
[ I ] Prior to its establishment, from 1986 to 1991, Kate Spade was formerly known as Katherine
Noel Brosnahan before her marriage with Andy Spade, and during this time while working at
Mademoiselle Magazine, she noticed that women s fashion accessories lacked practicality and

Trudy Sullivan, president of Liz Claireborne Inc., acquired that share of Kate Spade from Neiman
Marcus. Consequently, a new strategic plan was implemented which served the purpose to expand
Kate Spade with approximately 200 boutique shops both domestically and internationally. This
trend is observed to be a strategic alliance, because multiple organizations, in this case Neiman
Marcus and Claireborne Inc., co operated into a partnership in sense of the goal of pursuing an area
of mutual interest. All three companies are related to fashion design, so the conclusion is that the
entrepreneurs of Kate Spade had the intention to achieve business success through co operation

Myocardial Infarction
A heart attack, also known as a myocardial infarction, usually occurs when a blood clot forms
inside a coronary artery at the site of an atherosclerotic plaque. The blood clot severely limits or
completely cuts off blood flow to part of the heart. In a small percentage of cases, blood flow is
cut off when the muscles in the arterywall contract suddenly, constricting the artery. This
constriction, called vasospasm, can occur in an artery that is only slightly narrowed by
atherosclerosisor even in a healthy artery. Regardless of the cause of a heartattack, the oxygen
deprivation is so severe and prolonged that heart muscle cells begin to die for lack of oxygen.
About 1.1 million people in the United States have a heart attack every year;... Show more content

Arteriolar vascular constriction, heart rate increases, and renal retention of sodium and water all
help to regulate cardial output. Ventricular dilatation is commonly seen. A large amount of
ventricular myocardium is lost, contractility may be greatly compromised, and cardiogenic shock
may ensue. Right ventricular infarction may occur with occlusion of the right coronary artery.
With infarct affect the posterior wall of the left ventricle and the posterior interventricular septum,
they extend to the right ventricular wall in 15 to 30% of cases. The central venous pressure may
be elevated markedly if acute right ventricular failure develops. Low right ventricular output
causing shock often responds well to vigorous fluid therapy but poorly to vasodilators. Infusions
raise both right and left ventricular filling pressures. The diagnosis of right ventricular infarction is
difficult but may be established by right sided ECG leads and echocardiographic studies (Bullock,
1996).
PRINCIPLES OF MANAGEMENT
The goal of medical management is to minimized myocardial damage, preserve myocardial
function, and prevent complications. These goals are achieved by reperfusing the area by
emergency use of Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA) or thrombolytic
medication. Minimizing myocardial damage is also accomplished by reducing myocardial oxygen
demand and increasing oxygen supply with medications, oxygen administration, and bed rest.

The Tragedy Of Offensive Realism And The Rise Of China
The tragedy of offensive realism: Classical realism and the rise of China
Realism is one of the most dominant international relations theories in the academic world. But
within Realism, Realists are split on a number of issues. A perfect example of which being the
rise of China. Over the past 30 years China has increased not only in population and power, but
has also achieved one of the strongest economies in the world. The rise of China is seen as
problematic by many realists. Since the end of the Cold War and the fall of the Soviet Union, the
US has enjoyed a position of hegemony in the unipolar power structure of the world. Many fear that
the rise of China could upset the current balance of power. One such individual is a prominent
realist scholar, John Mearsheimer. He believes that war with China is inevitable and calls for the
US to do whatever it can to slow China s rise. Another political theorist Jonathan Kirshner wrote this
paper to counter many of Mearsheimer s claims, stating that Mearsheimer s offensive realism is
wrong, and dangerous . Kirshner suggests that instead of using offensive realism we should look
instead to the theories roots in classical realism to analyse the rise of China.
For realists the international system is anarchical, war is an ever present threat and the survival of
a state is never guaranteed. This is why security is the main focus of most realists. States are
forever seeking greater amounts of security, in a never ending search.

The author Craig Lucas never gave an explanation on why there was a supernatural element just
there was one and it made the conflict. Beside the supernatural aspect there was some spirituality
in the play. Craig Lucas never mentioned in the play that they were religious but they had a
christian wedding so there must have a spiritual element in there beside the supernatural. The
language of the play was very modern, but when Rita and the Old Man changed bodies, the Old
Man would say many oldish sayings or just many things that didn t fit with how Rita and Peter
talked. Also, many times when one of the characters were speaking, other characters speak over
them so they did a lot of overlapping. At times it was kind of confusing and chaotic but it just
added a human element. The way they spoke made them seem nervous and willing to fill up
empty void as to not have awkward silence. The nature of the play was very evident in the script.
Peter was the only one who ever acknowledged the audiences, in fact he spoke directly to the
audience in several different occasions. So this play has a presentational contract with a non

Definition Essay On Unconditional Love
The definition of love is an intense feeling of deep affection. The love between two people should
always be conditional. You can fall out of love because you are able to fall in love.
Conditional love can be earned by gaining loyalty and trust in another person. When you express
conditional love you love the person because of how they treat you and love you. Unconditional
love is being able to love someone no matter what. When you express unconditional love for
someone you care about the happiness of another person without knowing what the other person s
intentions are.
I prefer to offer and receive conditional love because I would not want to give false love or get false
love. For example, if my boyfriend told me I look good in everything and I decided to wear a
purple striped shirt with orange pants, Will I look good then? Another example is, If my boyfriend
cheated on me with one of my friends, do I accept the fact and still love him? Love requires trust
and commitment from both people in a relationship.
Conditional love depends on what you do rather than who you are. For example, a boy tells a
girl she is beautiful because she does not wear makeup or if your best friend is only supportive
until you make a mistake. Those are examples of conditional love because the boy thinks she is
beautiful only because she is not wearing makeup, and your best friend is only there for you until
something bad goes wrong. Being able to recognize conditional love will allow you to

Scopes Monkey Trial Research Paper
The aftermath of the Great war and the Great Depression brought on a dramatic social change in
America in the 1920s. The social change was a revolution that brought on two fundamentally
different beings; modernists and fundamentalists. While fundamentalists valued the bible, and lived
by it in its entirety, modernists were more self conscious and favored creativity and common sense
rather than the bible. The divide had to come head when the controversial Scopes Monkey Trial
began and new theories were explored which were then applied in modernist art, literature, and the
way of thinking. The revolution in manners in morals is the direct outcome of new innovations

Albert Einstein, famed psychist, offered scientific research that startled fundamentalists and excited
modernists. The huge influence the reject God was largely responsible of famed psychist, Albert
Einstein. His contributions in science left individuals unsure about the past and curious about the
future. Einstein theorized that space, time, matter, and energy were not distinct (Shi and Tindall
799). His research left many to embrace the idea that there were no absolute standards or fixed
points of reference in the world (Shi and Tindall 799) . What was once said that God created all
was questioned with Einstein s research. Another man s research in psychoanalysis questioned the
morals and the way that people carried out their lives in the 1920s. Sigmund Freud, a psychoanalyst
from Europe, heavily influenced Americans because of his teachings about sex and behavior. Freud
believed that the mind was essentially and mysteriously conflicted by often unconscious efforts to
control or repress powerful irrational impulses or sexual desires (Shi and Tindall 799). His work
gave life a deeper meaning and influenced sexual liberation. Writers expressed their art through
dreams and imaginations. The new revelations bought on by Einstein and Freud changed the way
of life for both modernists and fundamentalists. Modernists applied the news ideas by applying
them into their life by expressing themselves through art, rejecting the bible, and imagine about the
unknown. Fundamentalists stuck to traditional values and believed in God. The new revelations

North Philadelphia has the highest percentage of Puerto Ricans in the nation (United States Census
Bureau). According to the American Heart Association, the cardiovascular disease death rate
among African Americans is 34 percent higher than for the overall U.S. population (Seconds
Count.org). The American Heart Association states that heart disease is the number one cause of
death for all Americans and strokes are the fifth highest. Much like African Americans, Hispanics
and Latinos face even higher risks of cardiovascular diseases (American Heart Association). Since
North Philadelphia s population is comprised of mainly African Americans and Hispanics, the
hospital patient population will most likely present with more cases of cardiovascular disease.
In addition, more than half of North Philadelphia s population and 28% of the entire city live

Evaluation Of The Layout And Content Of My Brochure
Unit 12 Evaluation for the Brochure
I will evaluate the layout and content of my brochure against the client brief. The page layout
for each page is A4. At first I divided the pages into three section. However, it didn t look as
appealing. The purpose of this is because I wanted to ensure the information and the sizes of the
images fills the page. This is because I wanted to make it more different and appealing. The
information is placed in a rectangular or square box. It fits the whole A4 page. The pointsize of the
texts varies this depends if it is the subheading, heading or body text. Also, the sizes of the shapes
are diverse. This depends on the information and how big the images are. Also, there are images
placed in the box, which I will further discuss.
The front cover of the Newcastle Tours brochure as stated earlier is an A4 page. This page is
simpler due to it being the front cover and is 21 cm x 29.7cm. I decided to add the social
networks at the bottom of the page and information at the centre of the page, along with the logo
at the top of the brochure. I don t have a particular layout as I wanted to make it more individual
and more appealing. The colour of the text in all the pages is white and black. The purpose of this
is because the background is mainly dark blue and white so black and white will contrast with the
background colours. These colours were also used to meet the brief.
Moreover, the text styles used are Calibri Corbel. All these font

Morquio Syndrome
Morquio syndrome is an uncommon hereditary birth defect that is likely to happen in one of
every 200,000 births. This illness may not be noticeable at birth. Some symptoms start between
the years of 1 and 3. This syndrome is an advanced illness meaning that each year the child gets
older this disease gets even worse.
Morquio syndrome belongs to a group of syndromes named mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS).
Morquio is also identified as MPS IV.In kids with Morquio syndrome, the body cannot breakdown
sugar particles called glycosaminoglycans that assistance in building cartilage, bone, eye corneas,
skin and connective tissue.

Morquio syndrome is treated in several ways, because the disorder can disturb quite a lot of body
systems. Depending on the intensity of the illness the treatment is different. Some children may
only need cautious observing. Others might need non surgical or surgical treatments to address
precise features of their condition.
Several children with Morquio disease are detected with orthopedic disorders containing: scoliosis,
kyphosis, skeletal dysplasia, narrow chest, joint conditions and leg deformities. In some cases, these
conditions are present at birth and can be treated when the child is very young.
Depending on your child s needs, orthopedic specialists from our Spine Program, Hip Disorders
Program, Leg Disorders Program or Sports Medicine may treat your child.
My opinion
Cognitive function is typically usual in patients with Morquio syndrome. Bone deformities can
cause significant problems. Such as, the small bones on top of the neck might slip and ruin the
spinal cord, leading to paralysis. Surgery is needed to help correct these problems. But cardiac
complications may lead to death. This disease is very complicated and it s needed of much medical
attention. A million condolences to those who poses such syndrome. But keep trying never give up

Schlieffen Pl War Against France And Russia
The Schlieffen Plan was the German s plan for war against France and Russia. It was created by
Alfred von Schlieffen who was the German Chief of Staff in 1903 on the request of Kaiser
Wilhelm II and it was later revised in 1905. The reason it was made was because Germany s
unification came later than other European states. So the Kaiser sought out Schlieffen and directed
him to devise a plan that would allow Germanyto gain power and assert itself as a dominant state.
Since France and Russia were in an alliance Germany was not able to just attack one country.
They would be forced to fight both countries in a two front war. Schlieffen concluded that it would
take Russia six weeks to mobilize while France and Germany could both be prepared for battle
within fifteen days.
Schlieffen believed that if France could be conquered in that short of a time period that German
troops could then be moved to a new front against Russia. If Germany had a quick victory over
France it would allow them to have sequential fighting and not simultaneous fighting. To accelerate
the transfer of troops between future fronts Schlieffen advised the Kaiser to build railroads. After
figuring out what to do with France and Russia Schlieffen focused on Great Britain s role in any
European conflict. The British had a strong navy but their land forces posed virtually no threat to ...

Vampires And Pop Culture
We have been living in the era of vampires and any other kinds of monsters for a while now.
Vampires have always been relatable creatures, which allows fans to connect with vampire
characters. They represent the attraction towards being a vampire and having eternal life and are
presented to popular culture in a way that is attractive and relatable to the evolution of vampires
(Del Toro and Hogan 37). Over the past years, vampires have jumped in popularity and pop
culture appeal, taking over our television sets, the movie theaters and box offices and books from
around the world. Around 2010, Hollywood released four vampirefilms along with a bunch of
vampire DVD s, and the immensely popular television series like the vampire diaries and true
blood continued to air due to how popular those shows are. One monster I d like to put as an
example would be vampires Blood Thirsty: Why are Vampires Ruling Pop Culture? by Lindsay
Bradshaw. They are the latest trends to appear on pop culture`s radar, but this is not the first time
its caught the publics eye. Vampires have been a constant presence in the literature and film world
since the 1897`s publication of Bram Stoker`s Dracula, arguably the best vampire text of all time.
The idea that vampires exist across the globe has been a subject of folk tale, superstition, and myth
throughout the history of man. Even before the famous Dracula, the word vampires was originated
in eastern European Folklore, terrorizing small communities in

Quickly scan the poster. What do you notice first?
The absolute first thing that brings my attention is a lumberjack that appears to look like he is
respectable in his field and also experienced with tools and weapons. Secondly, the big red
WANTED letters capture my attention looking like they need these workers instantly.
Observe its parts
Does it have a message printed on it?
Yes, it does. It is stating Bushmen and Sawmill hands wanted for the Canadian forestry units
overseas. This is clearly a recruitment campaign to bring in new experienced Bushmen and sawmill
hand workers to expand the Canadian military.

One were taking place at Verdun and the Somme. 1916 is viewed as the year when the militaries of
Britain, France and Germany were bled to death.
Who do you think is the intended audience?
The intended audience is skilled labored oriented bushmen s and sawmills hands workers. This is
what seems like the recruiting offices were in need for at the time.
Why was it created?
This was created in attempt to recruit labored skilled individuals who would contribute to the
valiant causes of the war. Most likely the individuals who saw this poster thought to themselves this
is their chance to join the military and receive the respect as a fighting solider by performing their
skilled trades to help contribute in this war as a form of patriotism.
List evidence from the poster that tells you this.
To support this point, the lumberjack carries his cant hook over his shoulder in a approach similar
to a rifle and also holds a giant axe confidently.

Application Of Advanced High Strength Dual Phase Essay
Introduction
Reducing the fuel consumption and as a result reducing the amount of emissions which is achieved
by car weight reduction and besides passenger safety and crashworthiness improvement via
mechanical energy absorption are the main goals of car manufactures. Application of advanced high
strength dual phase (DP) steels is being considered as one of the efficient ways to obtain the above
mentioned goals [1 3]. (DP) steels have attracted considerable attention in the automotive industry
due to favorable combination formability, work hardening, ductility and high strength to weight
ratio [4]. The mentioned features is resulted from the unit microstructure of the DP steels. DP steels
despite their name consist of three or more phases including ferrite, martensite, banite, retained
austenite and pearlite. The Matrix in DP steels is soft ferrite and the strengthening phase is
martensite. In some cases banite and retained austenite also contribute to strengthening. Ferrite
enables low initial yielding stress and martensite enables the high ultimate tensile strength (UTS).
The above characteristics make the DP steels ideal alloy systems for automotive sheet forming
operations [5].
Phase fractions and their interfaces and morphology have a great influence on strength and ductility
of DP steels.[6] yield and tensile strength of DP steel can significantly improved by microstructural
refinement without losing the uniform elongation and fracture strain which will result in

Use Of Force In Policing
In terms of police work, the use of force is an inevitable measure. According to the National
Institute of Justice, Law enforcement officers should use only the amount of force necessary to
mitigate an incident, make an arrest, or protect themselves or others from harm. There are also
many factors that need to be taken into consideration, these include: whether or not the amount of
force is justified, whether or not this officer has been properly trained, whether or not the
department will be held criminally liable for the use of force, and so on. Law enforcement
officers are given an incredible amount of discretion solely due to the nature of their career. They
are faced with potentially life threatening situations, which require an exceptional amount of
judgment. Due to these situations, officers are expected to think and act quickly, consciously, and
appropriately. It seems that the use of force is a very necessary aspect of policing, however, the
amount of force used should be handled with great discretion. Officers who use an excessive
amount of force are more than likely to cause a community to become a negative environment....

However, if the nature of verbal contact includes shouting, threats, or cursing, it can very well be

The Analytical Effectiveness Of The Assessment
As I reflect about the various assessments I utilized for my project, I have mixed feelings about
the evaluative effectiveness of the assessments. When I began examine Jen s formal
assessments results (such as, Running Records, BY and EY Benchmarks, Sound Identification
/Sigh Word Inventory forms), I believed the assessments would accurately demonstrate a
positive progress Jen had made during the course of the year. What I discovered was both an
intended and unintended consequence of assessment use. On the one hand, I found the
assessments to be useful tools to gauge student literacy abilities. On the other hand, I believe
that the focus on assessment led to the teacher developing a deficit mindset with Jen. Often
times Jen s teacher narrowly would focus on Jen s inability to be at grade level or lack of drastic
improvement. In fact, the only thought Jen s teacher had was on the fact that Jen did not meet
the expected reading level for the end of the year for K 2. I believe if teachers rely too much on
assessment scores limits their ability to understand external factors or barriers that influence a
child s literacy. McKenna and Picard (2007) discuss the importance for teachers to view students
word miscue analysis beyond the checks on paper and formulas. McKenna and Picard caution
teachers to avoid focusing on the assessment scores because they believe children reading
strategies to decode words or understand a word meaning does not always mean reading proficiency.

College Is The Waste Of Time And Money
In College is the Waste of Time and Money , author Caroline Bird argues that college is not
better suited for those who are looking to be financially successful. This is based on the facts of a
low turnover ratio of students in colleges and universities and calculation that money spent on
college would have yield higher returns from other businesses such as new venture and start up
companies. Bird urges us not to spend time and money on colleges and universities. It is true that
colleges and universities have become highly profitable businesses and exorbitant fees have made
parents of a low income search for other opportunities for their children. However, the positive sides
of higher educationcannot be overlooked. The Collegeproduces highly skilled personnel in
engineering, chemistry, and other disciplines. In addition to the skills, social status, and reputation,
which are considered to be an intangible worth, are associated with college education. The higher
the education, the higher the prestige. Because knowledge and skills acquired through college
education removes the darkness of ignorance, college administrators need to exploit this potential
by making college an affordable place to get a practical education rather than making it a place to
earn financial revenues.
With the slogan, education for all , the United States aspired many parents and students to attend
colleges and universities in the 1950s. By 1970s, the number of college goers increased sharply and

Using Homemade Solar Cookers And Solar Energy
Using Homemade Solar Cookers and Solar Energy to Pasteurize Non Potable Water by Killing
Harmful Bacteria, Parasites, and Diseases
Maia J. Graudick
Brown School
Abstract
In less developed countries, there is a lack of availability in potable water for safe consumption.
Using a device known as a solar cooker may allow for cheap and easy access to water without
worry of contracting diseases. Solar cookers utilize solar energy by focusing the sun s rays into
water, heating the water to a temperature hot enough to kill harmful pathogens. A homemade solar
cooker was filled 100ml of non potable water and set out in the sun for 50 minutes. The
experiment resulted in a success with 95.9% of all organisms in the water being killed, effectively
pasteurizing the water for safe drinking. The experiment provided evidence to support that solar
cookers are reliable option for pasteurizing non potable water in less developed countries.
Using Homemade Solar Cookers and Solar Energy to Pasteurize Non Potable Water by Killing
Harmful Bacteria, Parasites, and Diseases Water is highly important in sustaining human life.
Untreated water however, can have very harmful effects on the body. Water that is not of drinking
standards, or non potable water, can contain harmful and possibly fatal pathogens. The consumption
of this water by humans is extremely dangerous. In less developed countries (LDCs) effective
methods of pasteurizing non potable water are not always readily

Barbara Ehrenreich s Nickel And Dimed
Several things can influence how a person performs: gender, race, and even class. In a sense,
class could be considered the easiest thing to perform, and can also change the quickest. Nothing
needs to be drastically, physically changed in order to perform a different class than the one a
person is a part of. However, performing up or down in class takes a lot of effort. When someone
performs up in class, they were persecuted and looked down upon compared to someone who
performs down. By using the excerpt Serving in Florida from Nickel and Dimed by Barbara

class that was not her own. Although it was for only a month, Barbara struggled to keep up the
effort and survive in a lower class than she was accustomed to. Even so, her co workers and the
people she met along the way did not realize she was performing down in her class. Maybe this
was because the people she surrounded herself with were also in similar class situations where
the fight to survive was more difficult, not allowing much space in thoughts for other people s life
stories. In Six Degrees of Separation, Paul performed up in class in search of friendship and
acceptance. Paul s performances, in terms of race, is cynical,

Relationship Between The West And Iran
The relationship between the West and Iran has been notoriously rocky. Several main factors
accumulating at the beginning in the 20th century have led to a perfect storm of religion,
imperialism and radicalism that have come together to create the Islamic Republic of Iran that was
built primarily on anti Americanism. How did this happen and why is this republic so anti
American? The Islamic Republic is built upon a revolutionary type of anti Americanism that can be
found among opposition groups seeking to overthrow regimes closely identified with the United
States; attacking such regimes thus involves attacking the United States. Researcher and analyst,
Ray Takeyh, a Senior Fellow for Middle Eastern Studies on the Council on Foreign Relations, says
Iranpersistently puzzles Westerners with its dualities, contradictions and paradoxes. He says the
West constantly gets Iran wrong because of its failure to understand Iran s factional politics and
ideology. These dualities and contradictions, for Takeyh, see Iran, in essence, as suffering from an
identity crisis.
While the Persians continue to find themselves in the modern world, it is clear that Iran has been
shaped and manipulated by foreign regimes in the past that has left Iran encompassed in delusion,
paranoia and mistrust of the West. Adam Tarock, professor of Political Science, from the University
of Melbourne, elegantly noted the pattern of Iranian foreign policy showing the dualities and

Electrochemical Gradient
#1) What is an electrochemical gradient, and why is it so important when discussing the movement
of ions across cell membranes? The establishment of electrochemical gradient is one of the driving
forces for ion movement across the cell membrane. Cells are usually negative and surrounded by
positively charged extracellular fluids. All transport processes across cells impact the chemical
gradients. There are two primary transport processes that affect electrical gradients, electroneutral
carriers and electrogenic carries. Electroneutral carries transport uncharged molecules or exchange
an equal number of particles with the same charge across the membrane, ultimately not changing
the overall elecrtochemical gradient. Electrogenic carriers result... Show more content on

Explain this process and how it establishes the conditions for intestinal water absorption. The
esophagus is responsible for establishing the conditions of water take up as it goes through the
gastrointestinal tract. This is achieved by having low water permeability and high salt transport.
Because the esophagus absorbs ions all while not taking up the available water, it lowers the
seawaters osmotic pressure. This low salinity high water solution then travels to the intestines
where it is able to be absorbed due to the altered osmotic pressure of the seawater. #3) Explain the
process by which fish produce calcium carbonate precipitates. Why does calcium carbonate
precipitation help intestinal water absorption? After passing through the esophagus, which absorbs
much of the salt ions in the swallowed saltwater, and the gut the luminal fluid is isosmotic with the
plasma. The intestines continue to absorb salt (sodium through chloride co transport proteins and
the chloride through the sodium co transport proteins and anion exchange protinis) which is
followed by an uptake of water. More chloride is absorbed than sodium which creates an
electrogradient in the cell (the cell being more positive and the plasma more negative). The anion
exchanger intakes chloride all while excreting HCO3 into the intestinal lumen. The intestinal fluid
is highly alkaline, high in HcO3 and high in calcium (from the environment), this allows for CaCo3
to be precipitated in the

Electromagnetism Studies the Relationship Between...
Electromagnetism is the branch of physics that studies the relationship between electricity and
magnetism. Electromagnets are magnets that uses an electric current to attract metal.
Electromagnets have many parts that make up them and are used in many things.
Electromagnetism has a history that dates back over 200 years. The year 1700 was the first
demonstration of an electromagnet, yet scientists didn t know much about electromagnetism (Bellis
1). In 1820, scientists had just started to get deep into electromagnets, Hans Oersted discovered that
a conductor carrying an electric current was surrounded by a magnetic field (Bellis 2). Hans Oersted
discovered this because his compass reacted to a battery when he connected them using wires. ...

A cyclotron is a device used for scientific research in which subatomic charged particles are
accelerated in a constant magnetic field. Magnetic fields supply a powerful research tool without
which modern physics could have grown to its present extent. A typical magnet consists of iron,
nickel, and steel. All magnets have a north and south pole, the opposite poles are attracted to each
other and similar poles repel each other. A magnet is something that attracts metal. There are many
types of magnets, there are, ceramic, alnico, neodymium, samarium, and of course, electromagnets
(Wilson 2007). The most commonly used magnet. To make a magnet, you just encourage the

south direction and strike it with a hammer. Striking it with a hammer make the domains lineup by
jarring them sometimes in the same direction (Wilson 2007). If you place it magnetic field then it
can also gain a magnetic field of itself. Each domain is a tiny magnet. Each domain has magnetic
domains pointing in different directions, canceling each other out (Wilson 2007). Magnets range
from weak magnets, to strong magnets that can even lift a car. The strength of a magnet depends
on how hard it is to magnetize it (Wilson 2007). Magnets are made by rubbing a permanent magnet
along a piece metal for a long time repeatedly. When the same poles touch each other, magnetic
lines clash together. To make a magnet

(Kanter, 2011, p. 3) Apple and the five publishing companies shouldn t take their antitrust
investigation lightly. While they have committed collusion against other companies that provide e
books like Barnes and Nobel their main company they colluded against was Amazon. They have
forced publishers to look at how they provide the book and the prices they sell them for. A monopoly
is a good thing when it comes to certain products like utilities. I also think that in some cases a
government monopoly is good as well. While there isn t a competition for these companies to
help keep prices down, this lack of competition can keep the price down in itself. If there is the
one resource and the one company that provides it, the company would more likely keep the
cost down because it is not competing for the resource it uses to produce its good. Therefore, the
company and the government won t face being charged more for the resource to produce a
good. I also feel that the oligopolies are good as well. The competition can help keep the costs
down for the consumer. In this case with the e books as well as other products such as clothing or
shoes other companies will compete for selling the products and therefore this can result in prices
being lower because companies are trying to get more customers. This can help a company s
economies of scale as well. In the long run, the company can expand the amount of products it

Teddy s father, Wan Din shin, produced a will that was said to be written by Teddy in 1968. In this
will, Teddy had discovered that his wife was cheating on him and it left her with nothing.
Nina Wang countered by producing another will, coincidentally written in 1990 just before Teddy
s second kidnapping. In this will, he had written One life, one love. He declared that he left her
with everything. There were only two witnesses for the will. One was the butler who had died
shortly after Teddy had been declared dead. The other witness was Nina Wang herself.
In late 2002, the High Court ruled that the will produced by Nina Wang was fake. The estate,
estimated to be worth $128 million, was given to Teddy s father. Nina Wang appealed against the
ruling but lost in a 2 1 decision on 28 June

Why I Want To Be A Criminal Justice Application Essay
As a student, I have always strived to do my best work. This determination also carries over into
the rest of my life, including athletics, community service, and other extracurricular activities. I
am currently a junior at POLYTECH High School and am a student in the Criminal Justice
technical area. I am a member of the National Honor Society and our school wide SkillsUSA
chapter. Outside of school, I am a very active member of my church youth group and work often
with the Knights of Columbus in community service efforts. I participate in shot put and discus

After college, I plan to become a law enforcement officer, most likely with the Delaware State
Police. I believe that working in law enforcement is an excellent way to help my community and
interact with people in a positive way, while improving others lives. Especially in light of the fact
that the criminal justice system has been under fire in recent years, I am hopeful that as an officer,
I can help to show the world that the police are still there to help the community, rather than to hurt
it. In preparation for a career in law enforcement, I am involved in the Explorers program with the
Delaware State Police, which is an organization for high school students to become familiar with
and learn about a career path of interest. After gaining some law enforcement experience, I am also
considering applying to a federal agency, such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation or the Secret

Federal Employees and Userra Essay
Executive Summary: Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) regularly fields
inquiries regarding the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act
(USERRA) from service members employed by the Federal Government and from the Federal
Government about a service member employee. A vast majority of these questions relate to the
application of certain USERRA requirements at the Federal workplace. To add to the complexity
of USERRA s application in the Federal workplace, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM)
regulation provides additional, non USERRA required benefits to service member employees
when performing certain types of military service. Discussion: Primarily six (concerns/issues) are

The use of interviews alone in determining the right candidates for a job can prove to leave many
questions unanswered in terms of the actual competencies and capabilities of candidates. Therefore
the use of psychological assessments and tests can help the practitioner to formulate a more
objective and accurate assessment of the candidate s capabilities and competencies against the
inherent job requirements. Bartram (2004) pointed out the use of traditional methods (structured
interviews, job application forms and knowledge and skills tests) in selecting the candidates who

  • 2. The Effect Of Kermadec Arc Volcanic System Between... Recommended area for further investigation and why Samples were dredged and analysed from four sites along the Kermadec Arc volcanic system between Macauley Island in the North to Rumble II West in the South. As a result of chemical of analyses of the rocks, the two sites recommended for further investigation are in the southern part of the arc where the Brothers (site 3) and Rumble II West (site 4) volcanoes are located. Both these volcanoes have large calderas which are associated with hydrothermal activity, and Brothers Volcano has erupted silicic rocks which are also associated with hydrothermal activity (Nichols, 2009 p271). Hydrothermal activity and the sulphur rich fluids generated can be a source of sulphide minerals for lead, zinc and copper. Rock types found at Brothers Volcano were analysed as dacite and rhyolite, both of which erupt from silicic magmas. The graphs of major and minor elements for site 3 showed distinctly different values compared to the other samples, indicating a different magma chemistry at this site. The plot of the minor trace elements showed high barium levels. Barite is the most common sulphate material associated with barium and is also commonly sourced in hydrothermal processes along with lead, zinc and copper. Numerous surveys have discovered active hydrothermal systems and Brothers volcano is considered to have the most active hydrothermal activity in the Kermadec Arc (Embley et al., 2012) (Gns.cri.nz, 2015). As described the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In one hour the Earth receives enough energy from the Sun to meet its needs for nearly a year. A Photovoltaic (PV) cell is a semiconductor device that directly converts the energy of solar radiation into electric energy. In general, an element that converts sunlight into electricity is called a PV device. The fundamental PV device is the PV cell, while a set of connected cells form a panel or module. As an array either a module or a set of modules can be considered cite{Breza2013}. The purpose of this chapter is to provide an introduction into the photovoltaic solar energy and to present the fundamental knowledges on the behavior and the functioning of the PV devices. Furthermore, the different PV models are discussed. section{Solar Energy Conversion} The basic element of a photovoltaic system (PV) is solar cells which convert the sunlight energy directly to direct current by means of the photovoltaic effect. Thus, It is crucial to understand the basic of a PV cell construction and its relationship with the incidence of the light. subsection{Photovoltaic Cell Construction } In a typical photovoltaic cell, two layers of doped silicon semiconductor are tightly bonded together cite{Chin2015} cite{Villalva2009} cite{Ma2013a}. One layer is modified to have excess free electrons (a n layer), while the other layer is treated to have an excess of electron holes or vacancies (a p layer). When the two dissimilar ... • 5. Emotions In Horror Films I personally tend not to be a big fan of horror movies, although in the past I have watched some suspense films as occasional entertainment. Having witnessed difficult situations in real life does not bring me closer toward those movie genres which aim to terrorize audiences. Because of this, I cannot really handpick a particular scene or filmwhich has caused the biggest fright. I will rather explain my point of view regarding this genre and our interactions with it. Most, if not all of us, have experienced intense emotions when watching films in these categories. Modern society, not only in America, but elsewhere, has become addicted to intense emotions and almost immune to the carnage and terror found in many horror films. Long gone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The effects of a movie or a TV show stay in our minds long after they have ended. Movies do expand our intelligence and emotions, and make us feel sensations that are not usually experienced in our day to day lives. They also help us understand life and remind us what humans are capable of doing, both in the terms of good actions and evil deeds. But the necessity of fright and intense emotions seems to be the sequels of an addiction to passionate emotional responses. Anger, fear, hate, anxiety, and thrill: they are all emotions and feelings that are brought forward by violent media. This addiction recalls our own fears about the unknown, about our doubts and questions about life and death. Horror films help us understand death and our personal relationship with it, and sometimes they bring us closer to come to terms with it. By watching horror movies and shows, the individual experiments with the certainty of death in a form that is not far from grotesque and unhealthy, while still opening his mind and soul to a reality that awaits all of us. According to Kidd Pivot organization, In 2002, she formed Kidd Pivot in Vancouver. Dark Matters is as much a study of the human condition, and of the violence in nature especially our own natures. This dance tiptoes along the edge of hysteria, describing our clammy response to the unknown. (Johnson). Dark Matters explores violent behavior and how all each person deals with their state of mind differently. However, there are some critics who believe the movement is unrealistic. The movement lacks gravity because of constant rolls and drifts in the body. The dancers in Kidd Pivot Frankfurt RM s new performance, Dark Matters, at the Newmark Theatre, seem entirely unencumbered by the laws of physics. Their bodies float through space and slide and roll across the ground like they ve never known gravity or friction. (Scott). It is obvious that their movements took a lot of structure and discipline to perform. Furthermore, the ending is what took everyone by surprise. This piece ended in a duet that was full on puppet like qualities. The movement was constant and repetitive like someone was pulling the strings to control them. The evening ends with a duet that s both puppet like and divinely human. Taken with everything that came before it, you re left thinking about manipulation of every kind, and power, to the extent that anyone has it. And that itself is powerful stuff. (Wisener). The ending left everyone in awe. It was tragic when the male lead died from a broken heart. In the end the female lead began to pick at the dead man heart. This part was inhumane because she was sewing his heart back together hoping that he would come back to life. (Dark Matters). Overall, great performance. Attach that luggage destination tag to each luggage. Together with the tags, the kiosk will also dispense the boarding pass for the passenger. Step 4 Place the luggage where directed or indicated. For some airlines and in some airports, the passengers may have to carry their luggage for a short distance up to the luggage collection area. Whereas, there are some airlines that have stationed personnel at each kiosk to take the passengers luggage once one complete the check in procedure (James). The Baggage Delay Problem Handling of bags by airlines remains a challenging aspect in the baggage handling process and this is bound to be an issue facing Emirates. The expanding air traffic increases the stress on the airline s bag operations, delays and consequent unexpected alterations to schedules. These can negatively affect the airline as a whole. In a similar manner to other businesses, Emirates encounters its own set of challenges in its operations. One of the main problems relates to the delays that passengers experience when dropping their baggage at check in counters. Normally, this can be attributed to the long processes and queues that arise in printing of tags and sorting out the baggage. • 8. Hydrogen Power and Energy Most of the energy we produce causes waste and pollution. Water allows us to cut some of this out of the equation. In 1874, a French author named Jules Verne wrote that hydrogen has the potential to be our next fuel source long before its potential was even discovered. And above all else, its abundant! Not only is the earth covered in 70% of water, but 90% of all matter contains hydrogen in it. Hydrogen itself produces miniscule amounts of pollution when burned. The problem that stands is that hydrogen is only found as a compound, and not by itself. Water contains a good amount of hydrogen, but also contains oxygen. However, we can extract the hydrogen atoms through a process called electrolysis. Electrolysis separates the hydrogen atoms from the oxygen atom to create HHO gas. The problem with this however is that electrolysis requires electricity to decompose the compound. The more current that is passed through the water the more chemical change it will undergo. Electrolysis is carried out in an electrolytic cell which don t contain a membrane. These cells contains two electrodes which separates the oxygen and the hydrogen. Now when most people think of converting water into energy, they usually think of water powered cars. Even though this is not entirely what electrolysis does, it isnt too far off. Fuel cell technology, even though it is still being developed, works with electrolysis to make this possible. An obstacle with making fuel cell technology possible is ... Currently, the organization had been in a competition with Coach Inc. and Michael Kors since its establishment. However, Kate Spade demonstrated the key elements of critical thinking necessary to turn risk into opportunities, which ultimately resulted in organizational success in the fashion industry. [ I ] Prior to its establishment, from 1986 to 1991, Kate Spade was formerly known as Katherine Noel Brosnahan before her marriage with Andy Spade, and during this time while working at Mademoiselle Magazine, she noticed that women s fashion accessories lacked practicality and style. Later during this same year, Trudy Sullivan, president of Liz Claireborne Inc., acquired that share of Kate Spade from Neiman Marcus. Consequently, a new strategic plan was implemented which served the purpose to expand Kate Spade with approximately 200 boutique shops both domestically and internationally. This trend is observed to be a strategic alliance, because multiple organizations, in this case Neiman Marcus and Claireborne Inc., co operated into a partnership in sense of the goal of pursuing an area of mutual interest. • 14. Myocardial Infarction A heart attack, also known as a myocardial infarction, usually occurs when a blood clot forms inside a coronary artery at the site of an atherosclerotic plaque. The blood clot severely limits or completely cuts off blood flow to part of the heart. In a small percentage of cases, blood flow is cut off when the muscles in the arterywall contract suddenly, constricting the artery. This constriction, called vasospasm, can occur in an artery that is only slightly narrowed by atherosclerosisor even in a healthy artery. Regardless of the cause of a heartattack, the oxygen deprivation is so severe and prolonged that heart muscle cells begin to die for lack of oxygen. About 1.1 million people in the United States have a heart attack every year;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Arteriolar vascular constriction, heart rate increases, and renal retention of sodium and water all help to regulate cardial output. Ventricular dilatation is commonly seen. A large amount of ventricular myocardium is lost, contractility may be greatly compromised, and cardiogenic shock may ensue. Right ventricular infarction may occur with occlusion of the right coronary artery. With infarct affect the posterior wall of the left ventricle and the posterior interventricular septum, they extend to the right ventricular wall in 15 to 30% of cases. The central venous pressure may be elevated markedly if acute right ventricular failure develops. Low right ventricular output causing shock often responds well to vigorous fluid therapy but poorly to vasodilators. Infusions raise both right and left ventricular filling pressures. The diagnosis of right ventricular infarction is difficult but may be established by right sided ECG leads and echocardiographic studies (Bullock, 1996). PRINCIPLES OF MANAGEMENT The goal of medical management is to minimized myocardial damage, preserve myocardial function, and prevent complications. These goals are achieved by reperfusing the area by emergency use of Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA) or thrombolytic medication. Minimizing myocardial damage is also accomplished by reducing myocardial oxygen demand and increasing oxygen supply with medications, oxygen administration, and bed rest. ... • 15. The Tragedy Of Offensive Realism And The Rise Of China The tragedy of offensive realism: Classical realism and the rise of China Realism is one of the most dominant international relations theories in the academic world. But within Realism, Realists are split on a number of issues. A perfect example of which being the rise of China. Over the past 30 years China has increased not only in population and power, but has also achieved one of the strongest economies in the world. The rise of China is seen as problematic by many realists. Since the end of the Cold War and the fall of the Soviet Union, the US has enjoyed a position of hegemony in the unipolar power structure of the world. Many fear that the rise of China could upset the current balance of power. One such individual is a prominent realist scholar, John Mearsheimer. He believes that war with China is inevitable and calls for the US to do whatever it can to slow China s rise. Another political theorist Jonathan Kirshner wrote this paper to counter many of Mearsheimer s claims, stating that Mearsheimer s offensive realism is wrong, and dangerous . Kirshner suggests that instead of using offensive realism we should look instead to the theories roots in classical realism to analyse the rise of China. For realists the international system is anarchical, war is an ever present threat and the survival of a state is never guaranteed. This is why security is the main focus of most realists. States are forever seeking greater amounts of security, in a never ending search. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The language of the play was very modern, but when Rita and the Old Man changed bodies, the Old Man would say many oldish sayings or just many things that didn t fit with how Rita and Peter talked. Also, many times when one of the characters were speaking, other characters speak over them so they did a lot of overlapping. • 18. Definition Essay On Unconditional Love The definition of love is an intense feeling of deep affection. The love between two people should always be conditional. You can fall out of love because you are able to fall in love. Conditional love can be earned by gaining loyalty and trust in another person. When you express conditional love you love the person because of how they treat you and love you. Unconditional love is being able to love someone no matter what. When you express unconditional love for someone you care about the happiness of another person without knowing what the other person s intentions are. I prefer to offer and receive conditional love because I would not want to give false love or get false love. For example, if my boyfriend told me I look good in everything and I decided to wear a purple striped shirt with orange pants, Will I look good then? Another example is, If my boyfriend cheated on me with one of my friends, do I accept the fact and still love him? Love requires trust and commitment from both people in a relationship. Conditional love depends on what you do rather than who you are. For example, a boy tells a girl she is beautiful because she does not wear makeup or if your best friend is only supportive until you make a mistake. Those are examples of conditional love because the boy thinks she is beautiful only because she is not wearing makeup, and your best friend is only there for you until something bad goes wrong. The social change was a revolution that brought on two fundamentally different beings; modernists and fundamentalists. The divide had to come head when the controversial Scopes Monkey Trial began and new theories were explored which were then applied in modernist art, literature, and the way of thinking. The pointsize of the texts varies this depends if it is the subheading, heading or body text. Also, the sizes of the shapes are diverse. This depends on the information and how big the images are. Also, there are images placed in the box, which I will further discuss. The front cover of the Newcastle Tours brochure as stated earlier is an A4 page. • 23. Schlieffen Pl War Against France And Russia The Schlieffen Plan was the German s plan for war against France and Russia. It was created by Alfred von Schlieffen who was the German Chief of Staff in 1903 on the request of Kaiser Wilhelm II and it was later revised in 1905. The reason it was made was because Germany s unification came later than other European states. So the Kaiser sought out Schlieffen and directed him to devise a plan that would allow Germanyto gain power and assert itself as a dominant state. Since France and Russia were in an alliance Germany was not able to just attack one country. They would be forced to fight both countries in a two front war. Schlieffen concluded that it would take Russia six weeks to mobilize while France and Germany could both be prepared for battle within fifteen days. Schlieffen believed that if France could be conquered in that short of a time period that German troops could then be moved to a new front against Russia. If Germany had a quick victory over France it would allow them to have sequential fighting and not simultaneous fighting. To accelerate the transfer of troops between future fronts Schlieffen advised the Kaiser to build railroads. • 28. Application Of Advanced High Strength Dual Phase Essay Introduction Reducing the fuel consumption and as a result reducing the amount of emissions which is achieved by car weight reduction and besides passenger safety and crashworthiness improvement via mechanical energy absorption are the main goals of car manufactures. Application of advanced high strength dual phase (DP) steels is being considered as one of the efficient ways to obtain the above mentioned goals [1 3]. (DP) steels have attracted considerable attention in the automotive industry due to favorable combination formability, work hardening, ductility and high strength to weight ratio [4]. The mentioned features is resulted from the unit microstructure of the DP steels. DP steels despite their name consist of three or more phases including ferrite, martensite, banite, retained austenite and pearlite. The Matrix in DP steels is soft ferrite and the strengthening phase is martensite. In some cases banite and retained austenite also contribute to strengthening. Ferrite enables low initial yielding stress and martensite enables the high ultimate tensile strength (UTS). The above characteristics make the DP steels ideal alloy systems for automotive sheet forming operations [5]. Phase fractions and their interfaces and morphology have a great influence on strength and ductility of DP steels.[6] yield and tensile strength of DP steel can significantly improved by microstructural refinement without losing the uniform elongation and fracture strain which will result in ... • 30. Use Of Force In Policing In terms of police work, the use of force is an inevitable measure. According to the National Institute of Justice, Law enforcement officers should use only the amount of force necessary to mitigate an incident, make an arrest, or protect themselves or others from harm. There are also many factors that need to be taken into consideration, these include: whether or not the amount of force is justified, whether or not this officer has been properly trained, whether or not the department will be held criminally liable for the use of force, and so on. Law enforcement officers are given an incredible amount of discretion solely due to the nature of their career. They are faced with potentially life threatening situations, which require an exceptional amount of judgment. Due to these situations, officers are expected to think and act quickly, consciously, and appropriately. • 31. The Analytical Effectiveness Of The Assessment As I reflect about the various assessments I utilized for my project, I have mixed feelings about the evaluative effectiveness of the assessments. When I began examine Jen s formal assessments results (such as, Running Records, BY and EY Benchmarks, Sound Identification /Sigh Word Inventory forms), I believed the assessments would accurately demonstrate a positive progress Jen had made during the course of the year. What I discovered was both an intended and unintended consequence of assessment use. On the one hand, I found the assessments to be useful tools to gauge student literacy abilities. On the other hand, I believe that the focus on assessment led to the teacher developing a deficit mindset with Jen. Often times Jen s teacher narrowly would focus on Jen s inability to be at grade level or lack of drastic improvement. In fact, the only thought Jen s teacher had was on the fact that Jen did not meet the expected reading level for the end of the year for K 2. I believe if teachers rely too much on assessment scores limits their ability to understand external factors or barriers that influence a child s literacy. McKenna and Picard (2007) discuss the importance for teachers to view students word miscue analysis beyond the checks on paper and formulas. McKenna and Picard caution teachers to avoid focusing on the assessment scores because they believe children reading strategies to decode words or understand a word meaning does not always mean reading proficiency. ... The Capitol s reaction to the attempted suicides makes the citizens of Panem aware that their government can be beat, there is something that they can do to stop Snow. Tris, from Divergent, acts as the character who shows this to the rebels. She grows up in Abnegation, the faction that no one believes could fight against Jeanine. The Abnegation are called stiffs because they are believed to be uptight. During Dauntless initiation everyone is surprised that a stiff [is] the first to jump (Roth 60) when their bravery is being tested. Tris proves that the Abnegation are capable of fighting. However, the Abnegation is still attacked by the Erudite, saying that they are corrupt leaders. Tris is the only one to realize that they are calling for an overthrow of the entire government (Roth 245). She proves to the city that Erudite has treasonous plans. • 33. College Is The Waste Of Time And Money In College is the Waste of Time and Money , author Caroline Bird argues that college is not better suited for those who are looking to be financially successful. This is based on the facts of a low turnover ratio of students in colleges and universities and calculation that money spent on college would have yield higher returns from other businesses such as new venture and start up companies. Bird urges us not to spend time and money on colleges and universities. It is true that colleges and universities have become highly profitable businesses and exorbitant fees have made parents of a low income search for other opportunities for their children. However, the positive sides of higher educationcannot be overlooked. The Collegeproduces highly skilled personnel in engineering, chemistry, and other disciplines. In addition to the skills, social status, and reputation, which are considered to be an intangible worth, are associated with college education. The higher the education, the higher the prestige. Because knowledge and skills acquired through college education removes the darkness of ignorance, college administrators need to exploit this potential by making college an affordable place to get a practical education rather than making it a place to earn financial revenues. With the slogan, education for all , the United States aspired many parents and students to attend colleges and universities in the 1950s. • 34. Using Homemade Solar Cookers And Solar Energy Using Homemade Solar Cookers and Solar Energy to Pasteurize Non Potable Water by Killing Harmful Bacteria, Parasites, and Diseases Maia J. Graudick Brown School Abstract In less developed countries, there is a lack of availability in potable water for safe consumption. Using a device known as a solar cooker may allow for cheap and easy access to water without worry of contracting diseases. Solar cookers utilize solar energy by focusing the sun s rays into water, heating the water to a temperature hot enough to kill harmful pathogens. A homemade solar cooker was filled 100ml of non potable water and set out in the sun for 50 minutes. The experiment resulted in a success with 95.9% of all organisms in the water being killed, effectively pasteurizing the water for safe drinking. The experiment provided evidence to support that solar cookers are reliable option for pasteurizing non potable water in less developed countries. Using Homemade Solar Cookers and Solar Energy to Pasteurize Non Potable Water by Killing Harmful Bacteria, Parasites, and Diseases Water is highly important in sustaining human life. Untreated water however, can have very harmful effects on the body. Water that is not of drinking standards, or non potable water, can contain harmful and possibly fatal pathogens. The consumption of this water by humans is extremely dangerous. In less developed countries (LDCs) effective methods of pasteurizing non potable water are not always readily ... • 35. Barbara Ehrenreich s Nickel And Dimed Several things can influence how a person performs: gender, race, and even class. In a sense, class could be considered the easiest thing to perform, and can also change the quickest. Nothing needs to be drastically, physically changed in order to perform a different class than the one a person is a part of. However, performing up or down in class takes a lot of effort. When someone performs up in class, they were persecuted and looked down upon compared to someone who performs down. By using the excerpt Serving in Florida from Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreichand the play, Six Degrees of Separation, by John Guare, we see how performing different classes than the one each person is a part affect themselves and those around them In Barbara Ehrenreich s Nickel and Dimed, Barbara went undercover to perform and learn about a class that was not her own. Although it was for only a month, Barbara struggled to keep up the effort and survive in a lower class than she was accustomed to. Even so, her co workers and the people she met along the way did not realize she was performing down in her class. Maybe this was because the people she surrounded herself with were also in similar class situations where the fight to survive was more difficult, not allowing much space in thoughts for other people s life stories. In Six Degrees of Separation, Paul performed up in class in search of friendship and acceptance. Paul s performances, in terms of race, is cynical, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Relationship Between The West And Iran The relationship between the West and Iran has been notoriously rocky. Several main factors accumulating at the beginning in the 20th century have led to a perfect storm of religion, imperialism and radicalism that have come together to create the Islamic Republic of Iran that was built primarily on anti Americanism. How did this happen and why is this republic so anti American? The Islamic Republic is built upon a revolutionary type of anti Americanism that can be found among opposition groups seeking to overthrow regimes closely identified with the United States; attacking such regimes thus involves attacking the United States. Researcher and analyst, Ray Takeyh, a Senior Fellow for Middle Eastern Studies on the Council on Foreign Relations, says Iranpersistently puzzles Westerners with its dualities, contradictions and paradoxes. He says the West constantly gets Iran wrong because of its failure to understand Iran s factional politics and ideology. These dualities and contradictions, for Takeyh, see Iran, in essence, as suffering from an identity crisis. While the Persians continue to find themselves in the modern world, it is clear that Iran has been shaped and manipulated by foreign regimes in the past that has left Iran encompassed in delusion, paranoia and mistrust of the West. Adam Tarock, professor of Political Science, from the University of Melbourne, elegantly noted the pattern of Iranian foreign policy showing the dualities and inconsistencies of ... • 37. Electrochemical Gradient #1) What is an electrochemical gradient, and why is it so important when discussing the movement of ions across cell membranes? The establishment of electrochemical gradient is one of the driving forces for ion movement across the cell membrane. Cells are usually negative and surrounded by positively charged extracellular fluids. All transport processes across cells impact the chemical gradients. There are two primary transport processes that affect electrical gradients, electroneutral carriers and electrogenic carries. Electroneutral carries transport uncharged molecules or exchange an equal number of particles with the same charge across the membrane, ultimately not changing the overall elecrtochemical gradient. Electrogenic carriers result... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Explain this process and how it establishes the conditions for intestinal water absorption. The esophagus is responsible for establishing the conditions of water take up as it goes through the gastrointestinal tract. This is achieved by having low water permeability and high salt transport. Because the esophagus absorbs ions all while not taking up the available water, it lowers the seawaters osmotic pressure. This low salinity high water solution then travels to the intestines where it is able to be absorbed due to the altered osmotic pressure of the seawater. #3) Explain the process by which fish produce calcium carbonate precipitates. Why does calcium carbonate precipitation help intestinal water absorption? After passing through the esophagus, which absorbs much of the salt ions in the swallowed saltwater, and the gut the luminal fluid is isosmotic with the plasma. The intestines continue to absorb salt (sodium through chloride co transport proteins and the chloride through the sodium co transport proteins and anion exchange protinis) which is followed by an uptake of water. More chloride is absorbed than sodium which creates an electrogradient in the cell (the cell being more positive and the plasma more negative). The anion exchanger intakes chloride all while excreting HCO3 into the intestinal lumen. The intestinal fluid is highly alkaline, high in HcO3 and high in calcium (from the environment), this allows for CaCo3 to be precipitated in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Electromagnets are magnets that uses an electric current to attract metal. Electromagnets have many parts that make up them and are used in many things. Electromagnetism has a history that dates back over 200 years. The year 1700 was the first demonstration of an electromagnet, yet scientists didn t know much about electromagnetism (Bellis 1). In 1820, scientists had just started to get deep into electromagnets, Hans Oersted discovered that a conductor carrying an electric current was surrounded by a magnetic field (Bellis 2). A cyclotron is a device used for scientific research in which subatomic charged particles are accelerated in a constant magnetic field. Magnetic fields supply a powerful research tool without which modern physics could have grown to its present extent. A typical magnet consists of iron, nickel, and steel. All magnets have a north and south pole, the opposite poles are attracted to each other and similar poles repel each other. A magnet is something that attracts metal. There are many types of magnets, there are, ceramic, alnico, neodymium, samarium, and of course, electromagnets (Wilson 2007). The most commonly used magnet. To make a magnet, you just encourage the domains to face the same way (Wilson 2007). To encourage the domains by placing it in a north south direction and strike it with a hammer. Striking it with a hammer make the domains lineup by jarring them sometimes in the same direction (Wilson 2007). If you place it magnetic field then it can also gain a magnetic field of itself. Each domain is a tiny magnet. Each domain has magnetic domains pointing in different directions, canceling each other out (Wilson 2007). Magnets range from weak magnets, to strong magnets that can even lift a car. The strength of a magnet depends on how hard it is to magnetize it (Wilson 2007). Magnets are made by rubbing a permanent magnet along a piece metal for a long time repeatedly. When the same poles touch each other, magnetic lines clash together. To make a magnet ... While they have committed collusion against other companies that provide e books like Barnes and Nobel their main company they colluded against was Amazon. They have forced publishers to look at how they provide the book and the prices they sell them for. A monopoly is a good thing when it comes to certain products like utilities. I also think that in some cases a government monopoly is good as well. While there isn t a competition for these companies to help keep prices down, this lack of competition can keep the price down in itself. If there is the one resource and the one company that provides it, the company would more likely keep the cost down because it is not competing for the resource it uses to produce its good. Therefore, the company and the government won t face being charged more for the resource to produce a good. I also feel that the oligopolies are good as well. The competition can help keep the costs down for the consumer. In this case with the e books as well as other products such as clothing or shoes other companies will compete for selling the products and therefore this can result in prices being lower because companies are trying to get more customers.
