watched the pipe organ recital performed by organist Kim Hee Sung. The recital

Young Life Hath an End , Symphony No.2 in E minor, Op.20 and The Carnival of
the Animals . I listened to the whole recital with full interest as Kim Hee Sung
performed all of these songs beautifully and confidently. The very first song she
played was P. Sweelinick s My Young Life Hath an End which was written in the

On Wednesday, February 25, 2016, PVAMU s Panthers Promoting Healthy
Decisions (PhD) program held a seminar regarding domestic violence. Not only did
students learn about warning signs and hear testimonies, but they were given a short
personal defense lesson by Professor and Coach Carlos Jackson.
To open the program, the PhD s gave each participant five note cards that described
various celebrity domestic cases. The participants then had to correctly guess the
celebrities involved to win a small prize. Disguised as a fun ice breaker, the exercise
was actually a segway into how domestic violence can start off well and quickly
escalate into a horrible situation.
After the exercise, the PhD s explained what domestic violence truly is by using a
definition by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and defined it as,

Cara and I were able to find that as the temperature increased, the faster the reaction
took place. We came to the conclusion that the experiment we were conducting was
an endothermic reaction. We were also able to conclude the rate order of the

Discussion:
For the most part, the results turned out accurately. There were, however, several
causes for miscalculations. First, our measurements were not as exact as they should

Comparing Beowulf And John Gardner s
The main characters of Beowulf in Seamus Heaney s translation are technically the
same main characters of John Gardner s Grendel. These two stories pertain to the
same characters, although due to a significant difference it can be difficult to realize
they are the same. That key difference is the perspective from which the stories
narrated. The different perspectives used impact the stories greatly. Beowulfs
omniscient narrator provides an outsider s point of view that seems to be aware
everything. Then as for John Gardner s story, it is Grendel himself narrating.
Experiencing the story from these two different points of view truly affect the

In Seamus Heaney s translation of Beowulf, Grendel is nothing but an evil fiend
that needs to be slain, a fiend out of hell, began to work his evil in the world
(Heaney 9). Grendel is portrayed as an evil monster that has only been wreaking
havoc and terrorizing a kingdom for an extended amount of time because it thrives
on the pain of others. Seamus states, Malignant by nature, he never showed remorse

Berger Family Encounters In Awake And Sing
The struggle the Berger family encounters in Awake and Sing is clearly evident by
the setting Clifford Odets sets up for his audience. Throughout the opening pages of
the play, particularly in this excerpt, the dialogue is chalk full with literary elements
of mood, tone, and imagery. These three elements each complement each other as
they all provide the play with a dark, depressing, and somber overtone. Not only
does Odets provide the reader with textual and linguistic setting elements, but the
physical setting portrays a gloomy atmosphere as well. The play takes place in an
apartment in the Bronx, New York City during the Great Depression. Already, the
time period of the play, in addition to the apartment being in the poverty stricken

evoke emotion and put a sense of stress on the reader as they learn that this family
cannot live comfortably. Ralph takes off his rose colored glasses and becomes less
optimistic when he questions life by saying, What s it for? (Odets, 42). The
audience now sees a man struggling with his identity and purpose. Ralph s words
set a strong, dark, and continuous tone for the play that serves to encompass his
entire family. Ralph continues to focus on his working career and how he still
cannot seem to provide the little things in life that he desires. The reader is
confronted with imagery that explains the reality of the Berger s situation through
the eyes of Ralph. The audience comes to realize that Ralph sleeps on a day bed in
the front room (Odets, 42). Odets provides an image of a character who is questioning
his place in life, and who quite literally does not have his own personal space within
his family
