2. Diversity In New York City
What does New York offer its inhabitants? New York is a state where most of its
Inhabitants are immigrants. In fact, The Huff Post states, Over 37% of New York City residents were
born in another country..., A high record of 3.07 million foreign born immigrants lives in New York
City . What New York City offers its inhabitants is quite unique from other places. It also offers the
ability to know about people from other countries, it s full of diversity. It offers endless adventures to
grow. Furthermore, it offers the feeling of being in a neighborhood where you feel like home.
The idea of the diversity in New York it sounds strange to me at the first, I doubt it. At first, my idea
was mundane because I get used to watching just one side of the inhabitants, and it was the side of the
Hispanic people. After, going to BMCC everything changed. I started to see New York with new eyes
and I started to learn a lot about cultures, for example, the scarf that Muslim women wear, which its
name is hijab. Now, a quote who supports this is from the Garnette Cadogan eloquent essay,
Immigrants are central to the allure of the city. It s a truism the city repeats endlessly to itself:
Immigrants provide a rich diversity and cosmopolitan flavor that awaken one s sense and enliven one
s sense of identity. This is the idea that I really feel empathy for him. It means that immigrants are
important to New York City because they represent the city. The incontrovertible truth that New York

3. Larry Kramer s The Normal Heart
As Berkshire now goes onto its second night of performing the Normal Heart one can see why a
school would choses to perform such an incredible, beautiful and heart wrenching play. There is much
to learn from Kramer s work: fear, courage, family and love. Today the play, which first daybued in
1985 still has meaning and content that anyone can learn from. While the Normal Heart does not have
the answer to how to help oneself or group of friends about discriminations against minorities,
Krammer does teach the most important thing to do is stay as a united front and do not let any
adversities hold you down.

men during the AIDS crisis in the 1980s. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The characters in his story are real men who either died or fought for those who did die during the
AIDs crisis in 1981. While I struggled with fully connecting with most of the characters due to the fact
that I have never been faced with an issue so large. An issue so large that in the first year of the
outbreak there were 121 reported deaths among gays. The character I can relate to the most is the main
character: Ned. The reason I found myself being able to stand in Ned s shoes is due to is undying will
to win. Ned gave up everything to fight for a cause that had no cure. He gave up even his friends who
were to scared to fight with him. Even though I have not found something that I am will to give
everything in my life up for; including my friends. You are on a colossal ego trip we must be curtail.
To manipulate fear, as you have done repeatedly in your merchandising of the epidemic, is to us a
gesture of barbarism... In accordance with our by laws drawn up by Weeks, Frankel, Levinstein, Mr.
Ned Weeks is hereby removed as a director. (Kramer 111 112) Ned is left by his peers who had
supported his cause. I understood Ned s role as a character more than any of the others, because if you

If there was a book that had every unwritten rule in society, even the obvious ones, the book would be
as big as the Bible! While some unwritten rules are obvious or not helpful, many of the rules that aren
t followed by people all the time will help that person belong in society. In the book Blood and
Belonging, the author states To belong is to understand the tacit codes of the people you live with. It
basically is saying that a person has to follow the unwritten rules of society if they want to be treated
like they belong. The unwritten rules are still helpful today and though many places have different
ones, many of them are universal.

HUMANITIES I
Art, The Individual and Society
A Term Paper
13 October 2011
I. INTRODUCTION Art has been around for thousands of years. In fact, different types of craft can be
traced back to prehistoric times when Neanderthal men started painting on the walls of the cave.
Throughout the centuries, art has evolved to several forms among which are sculpting, painting, and
even poetry. Art is the product or process of deliberately arranging items in a way that influences and
affects one or more of the senses, emotions, and intellect. It encompasses a diverse range of human
activities, creations, and modes of expression, including music, literature, film, photography,
sculpture, and paintings. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

old. Archaeologists have also found a fragment of rock painting preserved in a limestone rock shelter
in the Kimberley region of North Western Australia, that is dated 40 000 years old. There are examples
of cave paintings all over the world in India, France, Spain, Portugal, China, Australia, etc. In Western
cultures oil painting and watercolor painting have rich and complex traditions in style and subject
matter. In the East, ink and color ink historically predominated the choice of media with equally rich
and complex traditions. Modern and Contemporary Art has moved away from the historic value of
craft and documentation in favour of concept; this led some to say in the 1960s that painting, as a
serious art form, is dead. This has not deterred the majority of living painters from continuing to
practice painting either as whole or part of their work. The vitality and versatility of painting in the
21st century belies the premature declarations of its demise. In an epoch characterized by the idea of
pluralism, there is no consensus as to a representative style of the age. Important works of art continue
to be made in a wide variety of styles and aesthetic temperaments, the marketplace being left to judge
merit. Among the continuing and current directions

6. Analysis Of Irving R. Kaufman s Sentencing Speech
No one is innocent when his opponent is the judge. Lucan; Pharsalia
Section A: Plan of Investigation When Judge Irving R. Kaufman sentenced the Rosenbergs to death in
the electric chair, it sparked controversy that has maintained the media s attention even a half century
after its initial sentencing on April 5, 1951. Throughout the trial, Kaufman did not remain impartial in
front of the jury. In his sentencing speech to the Rosenbergs, he made his opinion that the Rosenbergs
committed a crime worse than death very clear, which creates the question: To what extent did Judge
Irving R. Kaufman s behavior during the Rosenberg/Sobell Trial influence the jury s decision to
prosecute the Rosenbergs? To determine the extent of his influence, the investigation will thoroughly
examine Kaufman s actions during the trial and their primary effect on the jury. The sources being
evaluated for their origins, purpose, values, and limitations are Judgment of Julius and Ethel
Rosenberg by John Wexley and Ethel Rosenberg: Beyond the Myths by Ilene Philipson.

Section B: Summary of Evidence The trial of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg started on March 6, 1951;
she was convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage on March 29, 1951. Judge Irving Kaufman

that a physically active person experiences after an intense workout. According to Pearcey et. al
(2015) the intensity of DOMS increases within the first twenty four hours post exercise, peaks
between forty eight and seventy two hours, and subsides and eventually disappears in five to seven
days. The study was conducted using eight men in their early twenties. The study used a repeated
measure design method to test the effectiveness of foam rolling the muscles of the lower extremities.
The study tested the following variables, pressure pain threshold of the quads, thirty meter sprint
speed, broad jump distance, change of direction speed, and dynamic strength endurance after
preforming the DOMS protocol. The DOMS protocol consist of 10x10 squats. All participants in the
study were both the experimental and control groups. The sessions were separated by four weeks; the
sessions were randomly assigned to the participants. The testing sessions included an orientation with

equation CuCO3 ® CuO + CO2 is correct for the decomposition of copper carbonate.
Introduction: This is my background research, this information may help me when I am trying to see
which equation is correct. I have used the book Chemistry 1 by OCR as my reference.
Relative Atomic Mass: This is the mass of an atom of the element relative to the mass of an atom of

Equation 1 produces the most gas.
Number of moles = Volume of Gas (cm3) = 80cm3
Molar Volume (cm3) 24000cm3
= 0.0033 moles of gas
1.25 moles of gas is produced from 1 mole of copper carbonate (CuCO3)
» 0.0033 moles of gas is produced from (0.0033)
1.25
= 0.00264 moles of Copper Carbonate
m = n x M M[CuCO3] = [63.5 + 12 + (3 x 16)] = 123.5g mol 1
0.00264 x 123.5g mol 1
= 0.33g of CuCO3
I can now work out how much gas 0.33g of CuCO3 will give in equation 2:
n = m = 0.33g = 0.00267 moles of Copper Carbonate
9. M 123.5g mol 1
1 mole of CuCO3 gives 1 mole of gas
0.00267 moles of CuCO3 gives 0.00267 moles of gas.
Volume of gas (cm3) = number of moles x molar volume (cm3)
= 0.00267 x 24000 cm3
= 64cm3
I can now carry out the experiment and compare the actual value with the two predicted values I have
just calculated. Which ever value is closest to the actual value is the correct value and so its equation
will be the correct equation.

Ankle sprain injuries are most common in team sports that include contact, jumping, sharp cutting
manoeuvres and running, such as football, volleyball, handball and basketball (Fong et al and Thacker

Ankle sprains usually occur in professional football as a result from a tackle, making sharp cutting
edge movements, or landing awkwardly after jumping. The most common type of ankle sprain is to
the lateral ligaments (anterior talofibular, calcaneofibular and posterior talofibular ligaments) after
inversion plantar flexion and internal rotation of the ankle (85% of all reported ankle injuries).
At the time of the injury the athlete would feel pain on the lateral side of his ankle, and the ankle
would show signs of swelling and bruising (the swelling might start on impact, but it could also take a
few hours depending on the severity of the injury). A snap or tear sound may be heard, but it is not of
diagnostic significance (Tropp et al, Garrick, aofas.org, Khan and Bruker, nsmi.org and Yeung et al).
The ankle sprain could be person related, like when the individual perform poorly executed tackles or
cutting manoeuvres to cause the inversion of the ankle. The injury could also be a result of
environmental risk factors, like the condition/irregularity of the pitch/field, position the athlete plays
in, and foul play (Willems et al and

11. The Affect of National Culture on Human Resources Essay
INTRODUCTION
In today s business environment, the complexity of international business has increased and
international competition has been highlighted as an essential element for multinational firms
(MNCs). Thus, in order to gain competitive advantage, various resources are utilized, such as financial
capital, technology location or human resource (HR). Moreover, HR could be seemed as one of the
most important resource which has also become a focus of attention of senior managers in MNCs. As
suggested by MacMillan(1984), MNCs can gain competitive advantage through use of HR practice,
such as training, compensation, socialization, selection, performance appraisal and career

Based on Hofstede s (1993) definition of national culture, it is stated that national culture is the
software of the mind, and it is deeply embedded in everyday life and fairly resistant to change.
Moreover, it is confirmed that national culture has a significant relationship with HR policies and
practice (Hofstede, 1993). Also, Earley (1994) demonstrated that national cultural values that reinforce
HR are more likely to yield predictable behaviour and better performances. This is because a national
culture is usually characterized by the values of the people who belong to that culture, so well HR
practices are consistent with existing behaviour expectations and routines that transcend the
workplace. Employees are not distracted from work if HR practices are consistent with national
cultural value. The various values had been grouped, by Schuler and Jackson (1994), into four
categories, work goal importance, need deficiency, fulfillment, and job satisfaction, managerial and
organizational variables, and work role and interpersonal orientation. Furthermore, Hofstede (1993)
has presented four largely independent dimensions of differences among national values systems,
which were labeled Power Distance , Uncertainty Avoidance, Individualism vs. Collectivism, and
Masculinity vs. Femininity.
1. Power Distance, indicates the extent to which the fact that power is distributed unequally is
accepted in the society by those who do and do not possess power.

A Life Lived by Half Although it is overlooked the majority of the time, a woman s underlying
sacrificial struggle, lived and experienced by approximately half of the human population, has been
covertly eminent. Women must confront within themselves the expectations and viewpoints of society.
Both Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman and Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin in the Sun provide
coinciding portrayals of women by explaining their societal roles, handling of circumstances,
character, and external depictions. In terms of being categorized as female, a woman must manage
both the circumstances at hand and her societal roles. Willy Loman, an arguably proud man,

Although they adamantly strive to be independent and liberated individuals, women are not liberated
at all because [they] talk about it too much (Hansberry 64). Women themselves divulge their own
weakness because they formulate a false notion of autonomy. Their error is that they prefer a feeling
of liberation rather than liberation itself. Despite being subject to men s mistreatment and life s
suffering, a woman will sacrifice and do anything for her family (Hansberry 75). Men have at many
times verbally abused women and suppressed their opinions, but that does not impede women from
sacrificing everything for the people they love. Women are portrayed positively because they display
strength and perseverance. In contrast, Willy Loman considers his wife a burden when he expresses
the idea that the woman has suffered (Miller 99). Women are now portrayed negatively because they
are described as weak and fragile. This portrayal is unjustified because Willy Loman has had more
lamentations while Linda Loman has defended his social standing. Although providing a portrayal for
women is largely a subjective evaluation, one cannot deny a woman s character and sacrifices. A

Throughout the years, there have been massive debates and arguments whether or not alcohol should
be prohibited. In most countries, at a certain age, adults are allowed to purchase alcohol without being
limited to certain choices. However, with the rise of alcoholic products, there are concerns for public
health and safety. Many people argue that restrictions should be placed on alcohol consumption. To
begin with, there are several factors that involve in alcohol consumption. Studies have shown that
there is a direct correlation between alcohol consumption and crime. As alcohol intake increases,
crime increases as well. In fact, it has been found that the more violent a crime is, the greater the
likelihood that alcohol has been involved. Researchers have found that adults who were convicted at
the time were either drinking or under the influence. However, there is not enough evidence that
drinking alcohol necessarily causes a person to commit to a crime. Additional factors, such as sleep
deprivation, psychological disorders, and physical conditions, may play an important role.
Furthermore, rates of violent behavior and use of alcohol and other drugs are higher in adolescent
boys than adolescent girls ( American Journal of Public Health ). Alcohol affects the cognitive part of
the brain, leading to inappropriate behaviors, causing criminal acts. In addition, alcohol is a factor in
40% of all violent crimes today ( Alcohol and Crime ). Because of this factor, people should

20. Nonverbal Expectance Violation Theory
As I researched various theories, the Nonverbal Expectancy Violation Theory stood out to me the
most. Neuliep (2015) has described this theory as people holding expectancies about the
appropriateness of the nonverbal behaviors of others. The Nonverbal Expectancy Theory (NEV) was
formulated by Dr. Judee Burgoon. Sidelinger and Bolen (2015) states the basic tenet undergirding
NEV theory holds that individuals have expectations of how things will be and how people will
behave. Sidelinger and Bolen also states that expectancy refers to what an individual expects or
predicts will happen in an interaction. When we make an assumption, we are partaking in
expectancies. Burgoon (as cited by Sidelinger and Biolen, 2015) notes that what we expect in an
interaction is based on three factors, context, relationship, and communicator characteristics.
Sidelinger and Bolen (2015) believes that our expectancy can be determined by our environment. For
an example, the way I communicate at the playground with my children is different than how I
communicate at the grocery store. The expectancy of relationships is based on the connection we have
with the person with whom we are interacting with. Finally, Sidelinger and Bolen (2015), states that
communicator characteristics refer to the demographics (gender, age, race etc.) of the other in the
interaction and additional characteristics such as the other s communication style.
Additionally, the perception of how we view someone plays a role in how we expect them to react or
interact. If I am playing with a Poodle, I expect it to be fun, playful, and bubbly. If I am playing with a
Rottweiler, I expect it to be aggressive and assertive. While these are my expectancy of the dogs it
could turn out to be the opposite of my assumption. There are two types of expectancies. Predictive
and prescriptive. Offering a counterpoint to this perspective is nonverbal expectancy violations theory,
which posits that violating social norms and expectations may sometimes be a superior strategy to
conformity in achieving such communication outcomes as attraction, credibility, helping behavior, and
persuasion, Burgoon and Aho,; Burgoon, Coker, and Coker, Burgoon and Hale; Burgoon and Jones;

Deep Ocean: The truth of the Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea
Everyone might have once imagined dark environments and scary creatures which live in the deep
sea. These childlike dreams are visualized in the popular novel, Twenty Thousand Leagues under the
Sea. In the novel, the main character, Pierre Aronnax, searches for a mysterious sea monster while
fighting with scary undersea creatures. Although many undersea creatures have been depicted in the
novel, one of the striking deep sea creatures would be a giant octopus. This octopus is depicted as a
scary creatures that threatens the main character. Many people might think the creatures are fake, but
the giant octopus exists, which is also well known by today s scientists.
The deep sea normally is interpreted as the lowest layer in the ocean, existing below the thermocline
and above the seabed, at a depth of 6,000 feet or more. As shown in the novel, the deep sea has been a
mysterious and interesting theme for a long time. The subject area of the deep sea attracts many
readers; therefore, it became a topic of many pieces of literature and science magazines. As a result, a
lot of research has focused on investigating the deep sea. However, why do we have to conduct such
research?
Deep sea research was accelerated during World War II. The war brought many scientific
developments in various fields; oceanography was not an exception. World War II caused a Belgium

23. Examples Of Rememory In Beloved
In the novel, Beloved, Toni Morrison masterfully creates a series of events that mirrors the human
condition of remembering, allowing the reader to experience firsthand, the pain and suffering of ex,
African American slaves in a most profoundly realistic way. Morrison enables the protagonist, Sethe,
with non linear accounts of rememory throughout the story so that she may unearth her past truths,
ones in which she had so desperately tried to bury. It is through these vivid accounts of rememory that
Sethe can be allowed to see herself in different perspectives, recollecting herself and realizing her
individuality. In this, Morrison paves a path for Sethe s enlightenment, the retelling of her past, as she
must realize her own humanity, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Morrison even inserts the idea of rememory in the house which Sethe and Denver reside, house 124 .
The house number is such a small detail but hold such strong significance within the work, indicating
the first, second, and fourth child of Sether as they were the only surving children of Sethe s filicide.
The number three is missing, as the third child did not survive, the absence of the number is but
another haunting reminder of the child s absence, displaying the fragmentation of Sethe s family and
representing something important but not spoken. Much like the memories of the characters, the
things that are unspoken often resonate the loudest. Morrison structures the novel through various
perspective(s), as rememory begins to appear to each character as a most overwhelming and formless
sense of haunting and it is only after they come together that a collective story can form for the reader.

24. The World And Battle Of Gods Essay
Each historian or story teller, like EnumaElish, Hesiod, and Confucius, has his own understanding of
history due to the subjects that they focus on, type of evidence, and reliability of their evidence. These
historians are from different civilizations, so each one of text might be based on dissimilar life style
that they lived. All of the historians have some specific topics to talk about, like culture and war. Also,
having strong evidence will make their text much reliable, and people can use their texts and telling
their children about the history of their region. As an example of this situation, because my father was
a Peshmarga at 1990s, he told us how much Kurdish people suffered from Saddam Husain s regime.
First, each historian has different topics of the history to write about. To give an example,EnumaElish
was a Mesopotamian myth, specifically from Babylon. EnumaElish was a very old myth that focused
on the creation of the world and battle of gods. The gods were Tiamat and Apsu. They were husband
and wife, so they gave birth to this generation which is us. According to the points of view of this
author, there had not been humans created yet. In other words, there were only gods which gave birth
to this generation. When they created humans, they made humans to serve them and obey their laws.In
a comparison, in the ancient Greek, we are used to hear how much their gods meant to the Greek
people. This rule does not apply to the text of Hesiod. Hesiod concentrated

Neo colonialism or imperialism
This is an external factor of Nigeria s underdevelopment; it is the highest form of exploitation from
the British countries to their colonies after independence. Nigeria has contributed to its economic
backwardness, as it promotes the maintenance of foreign domination and enhances neo colonialism
and the flowering of subjugationism (onimode, 1981). Imperialism has always been an exploitative
phenomenon, which was the initial motive for colonization. Nigeria has been seen as a dumping
ground for most British counties, making it difficult for us to produce our own goods. Also the fact
that we are primary producers with fewer technicalities to produce our raw materials into finished
products makes it a means of imperialism as we export our goods at the rate determined by the British
colonies and still import back at a higher cost. For example the crude oil, Nigeria is the largest country
with the crude oil but the poorest in economic state due lack of technicality in transforming crude oil
into petrol which led to the issue of sucidy removal in January 1st 2012, even after which things haven

We first started doing our health campaign on smoking and aimed it on people that were 16 years old
and pregnant women. Smoking causes health problems such as several types of cancer which have
been broadcasted through advertising and several other campaigns warning people about the
repercussions of smoking. There have been many national health strategies to help promote the
negative impact of smoking on our health. One campaign is by the NHS called Smoke Free which is

For our other target audience of pregnant women, we dedicated two slides to smoking during
pregnancy and the repercussions of smoking around their new young baby. We gave them information
such as a low birth weight, smaller organs, likelihood of cot death and an increased risk of
miscarriage. After they have had their baby, we gave them other information. This information
included things such as meningitis, hearing loss, cot death, asthma and breathing problems. As well as
this, we also wanted to emphasise the mothers health and how it would effect them.
However, there were many reasons that people might think of of not wanting to stop smoking. For 16
year olds, a reason could be that they enjoy it and that their friends do it and they haven t received any
problems. Even though this is all true, it might not happen to their friends but it could happen to them.
Furthermore, they could also think that it could help them deal with the stress that they might be
experiencing due to their GCSE exams, although, we can prove that nicotine doesn t help relax but it
is instead a stimulant. For pregnant women, they could feel that they saw a relative smoke during their
pregnancy and that their baby was a healthy weight and had no health problems, but this isn t
necessarily applicable to every pregnant mother.

Heroism with Conflicts The novel As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner is filled with moments of
great heroism and with struggles that are almost epic, but the novel s take on such battles is ironic at
best, and at times it even makes them seem downright absurd or mundane. The Bundren family is on a
mission to bury Addie. In the midst they defeat water and fire on the way to Jefferson where Addie is
to be buried. Their take on these engagements seem heroic, but they come to the point where the
family s / family member(s) actions are more foolish than anything. The Bundrens making their way

just getting rid of the pain and hurt. In addition, Jewel runs in to free the mules and horses and also to
save the coffin. Going into the blaze is daring, courageous and it shows that Jewel is caring and has
respect for his mother. It also shows that he just wanted to save his horse and after doing so
remembered the coffin; feeling guilty he went back in to save it. Furthermore, Darl enters the burning
barm to help Jewel free the team and save the coffin. It is very absurd that someone would catch a
building on fire and then re enter to save things that they knew were in there beforehand. Darl is
losing his mind; he has basically contradicted his action for setting the barn on fire. Therefore, Jewel
is the hero of this incident and Darl is the idiotic character; both play important parts but make the
story very confusing. In conclusion, the way that the family acts when fate occurs is heroic in a way
that is comical and unreasonable, but in some forms not important to the storyline of this

Given these circumstances, television news outlets were unable to produce war footage and broadcast
them in their 24 hours news cycles while print journalists have to relied even more on thematic
framing in their coverage.
Thirdly and related to former point, the two US military interventions differ in size, scope, form and
length of time. While the military operation to liberate Kuwait from Iraqi occupation in 1991
consisted of extensive military preparations and the invasion of a foreign country, the missile strike
against a Syrian regime airfield was a an operation of a few hours, using only unmanned cruise missile
against a single target. As a result, there was simply not enough time to assign correspondents to the
ground, who often tend frame events in wars episodically. More generally, perhaps due to the lack of
access to the ground operations, journalists, particularly those working for newspaper, were able to
cover this foreign policy event predominately thematic as opposed to the first Gulf War.
The difference in the media alone cannot account for the large number of thematic oriented articles in
both newspapers about the US missile strike on Syria. Many articles extended their thematic coverage
to topics such as the fight against ISIS, the complexity of shifting alliances within the fractured armed
opposition in Syria and the involvement other states and actors

In Franz Kafka s Metamorphosis, Grete changes from a child into an adult while also trying to do the
opposite with her own family. Gregor s metamorphosis leaves her family without anybody money to
pay for their needs. Consequently, Grete replaces Gregor and begins to cook and clean for her family
and go to work. These jobs allow Grete to become more experienced and to mature. Similarly, Grete
shows displays these changes by dressing more provocatively and becoming more interested in
romance. However, during Grete s own metamorphosis, she realizes the burden that is (or was) her
brother and proves to her family that he is no longer human. Since she wants to keep her family the
same as it was before Gregor s metamorphosis, Grete convinces her parents of this absence of Gregor

before Gregor s metamorphosis, and to accomplish this, Grete simultaneously goes through her own
metamorphosis into an adult woman as a result of the many jobs she takes to keep her family in the
same situation as before.
Grete s transformation into an adult begins when she assumes the job of taking care of Gregor and the
rest of her family, and this transformation is propelled forward as she continues caring for her family.

The FECA, however, opened the way for a major financing loophole: soft money. Soft money
includes contributions and expenses that are technically not associated with individual candidates.
Examples of this would be issue advertising as well as get out the vote initiatives. Although soft
money never directly reaches campaigns, the activities that it sponsors definitively boosts individual
candidates in the polls and allows donors to remain unnoticed.
The court case Buckley v. Valeo (1976) resolved the question: Did the limits placed on electoral
expenditures by the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, and related provisions of the Internal
Revenue Code of 1954, violate the First Amendment s freedom of speech and association clauses?
(Buckley v. Valeo). This question first came into play following the infamous Watergate scandal.
Congress wanted to end corruption in political campaigns, particularly the financial contributions.
Congress law created limits on the amount of money that an individual could contribute to a
campaign. It was required the campaign to report contributions above a certain amount of money. This
led to the creation of the Federal Election Commission, or the FEC, a governmental agency designed
to enforce this statute. This influential case concluded that restrictions on individual contributions did
not violate the First Amendment as

Though Jean valjean struggles and conflicts only got more strenuous, he still continued, if not to an
even greater extent, his selfless devotion to the ill fated members of society. The exemplary heroism,

answer, was dutifully plowed after by Jean Valjean.
Fantine is a reflection of the horrific outcome of French society. Exploited by the thenardiers, and
undoubtedly naive to the intentions of others, she is the weak prey oblivious of her predators. Jean
Valjean steps into her life, and by doing so, he cultivates a strong empathy for her situation, one which
is quite familiar to himself. Fantine causes Jean Valjean to look back at the character of his darkest
days, and thus, make a decision to firmly not revert back to his old ways. In fact, she is the
embodiment of a part of a debt to society he must pay, and so Jean Valjean is determined to help
Fantine in any way he can. Likewise, he pursues the recovery of her daughter Cosette in order to

on the early development of the universe is the Big Bang theory, which puts forth the idea that the

We know nothing of this time, but we make projections based on current modeling. The leading theory
on the birth of the universe is called the Big Bang theory. The Big Bang model described our current
