Example Of A Cultural Autobiography Example
There is nothing quite like a Cultural Autobiography to make you reexamine your life and upbringing.
I was born into a normal Jamaican family, ten fingers ten toes was all that was needed back then. I was
the youngest of two sisters and one brother. My parents were unmarried and my sibling, who I grew
up with and I shared different fathers. As a family we never discussed family members outside our
immediate families and with only half siblings the idea of we figured our distant relatives were either
family or complete strangers. My earliest memory has always been of me and my older brother getting
into trouble and our sisters scolding us. The oldest was 8 years older than me and she took the role of
our guardian due to our parent s careers. My father was a Police Officer and my mother was a
Certified Nurse Assistant both hard working and devoted Christians. This is in line with the majority
of citizens in Jamaica. My story begins with my father, all throughout my childhood he has always
been strict and distant. Similar to me, he was raised the youngest among his four siblings albeit in the
countryside of Jamaica. He studied the bible and at one point started his academic journey in hopes of
becoming a pastor. Somewhere along his journey he decided to forgo that desire and chose to become
an officer of the law instead. His early life was marked with humble stories of walking several miles
barefooted to go to school in order become more educated. Studying and working hard in

The City Of Lancaster s General Plan
Introduction: I have chosen the City of Lancaster s General Plan entitled, Soaring into the Future .
Entitled so to pay homage to the City s desire to grow and change, as well as a nod to its economic
support from Edwards Air Force Base. The City of Lancaster is a city in the Northern Los Angeles
County, in the western Mojave Desert. The City is separated from other communities because it is
located in the valley between the Tehachapi Mountains to the North and the San Gabriel Mountains to
the South. The area has a warm semi arid steppe climate which is less hot but rainier than areas with a
typical arid climate. This particular plan when into effect July 14, 2009 and is expected to last until the
year 2030. Ultimately I will argue that due to the desire to maintain the City of Lancaster as a rural
escape for commuters and inability to provide jobs the implementation of these programs can become
contradictory.
History of the City: The first General Plan for the City of Lancaster was adopted in 1980. At that time,
the area in question occupied a space of approximately 37 square miles, with a population of 47, 882
people. Eight years later, the area had increased to 83 square miles, with a population of
approximately 100,000 residents. This significant increase in size and population prompted the City
Council to adopt a new General Plan in March of 1992. However, between 1988 and the adoption of
the new plan in 1992, the City incorporated an additional 12 square miles,

What Role Did Socrates Play in Ancient Greece?
In the leading city of Athens 2,500 years ago during the Golden Age, a peculiar philosopher was born
into the reign of Pericles. Socrates went against common religion, influenced social roles and people,
and was the founder of the Socratic Method. Religious opinions affected Socrates life a great deal.
Whereas most Athenians observed polytheism and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were very popular but loathed at the same time because of the financial problems they were
causing. For example, the most famous sophist was called Corax. He had a student called Tisias who
refused to pay the fee for his classes, he said Before I started, you promised you would teach me to
persuade anyone to do whatever I wanted. Let me now persuade you not to ask for your fee. If you
still demand it, you did not do what you promised, therefore I owe you nothing. However, Socrates
discredited this, However, not one of these things is true; nor, if you have heard from anyone that I
attempt to teach men and require payment, is this true. (Plato, n.d.). Socrates irritated people by
insisting things that could not be true. Critobulus, who was considered by many to be the most
handsome man in Athens. However, Socrates, with his protruding eyes and large nose insisted he was
more stunning than Critobulus. Socrates defended this by saying things such as Because while yours
see straight ahead, mine, by bulging out as they do, see also to the sides, and Mine, I consider,
granting that Providence made us noses to smell with. For your nostrils look down toward the ground,
but mine are wide open and turned outward so that I can catch scents from all around. (Zannos, 2004).
Another story of Socrates impacting the life of an individual is shown by the dialogue that he had with
a young man he met at a wrestling school named Lysis. Socrates admitted to

I Don t Know It Makes Us Poor
There once was a girl named Emily, who was 6 years old. She lived on a small farm, in a small town,
with not many people. She had 9 older siblings and 2 younger siblings. Emily and her family were
poor but, she didn t know that because, she always got what she needed. Her mom taught her how to
sew her clothes. Her dad taught her how to run the farm. Emily went to school, but only had one
friend named Anna. She was always bullied. One day she was washing dishes and turned to her mom
and asked, Mom are we poor? Her mom looked at her and said No we are not poor. We just don t have
things other families have. I don t understand. I feel like it makes us poor. said Emily. Well someday
you will learn that not having things other families have doesn t make us poor. Now get over here and
finish these dishes. Then, go finish your homework, said Emily s mom. Okay mom, said Emily still
confused. The very next day, Emily went to school. There were always two bullies that picked on her.
Your family is so poor even your mom can t buy you clothes. said one of the bullies. My mama may
be poor, but she can make better clothes than your mama ever could, said Emily. She was proud of
herself for standing up for herself. The bullies finally left her alone for now at least. When Emily got
home, she saw her mom making something new. She knew it wasn t for her because, she always got
hand me downs. Mom we are poor. You said we weren t. Said

Building Trust And Cooperation Within The Worker Client...
Another element from the conversation that makes sense to me, and I will be more conscious of in the
future, is the explanation of how our clients not reaching their goals, or not being able to achieve a
certain task, as an opportunity to explore why not and to give them more positive reinforcements
rather than to count not accomplishing tasks as failures against them (Quartz, March 7, 2016). I can
see these practices as ways to build trust and cooperation within the worker client relationship.
C. Elements that I already knew about and furthered and/or clarified my knowledge and understanding

of the process and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another element that I will use in future practice, that I was aware of in another context, is part of the
relationship building process of supporting the client coming to terms with their history, the present
situation, and their future. We discussed using timeframes to help clients with this process, which is
something I had not thought of to use in the context of this course but it makes sense and I will use it
in the future. In policy analyse and political science, this method is used in understanding policies, the
history of wars, revolutions, and social movements so of course it makes sense to apply it to clients
with tumultuous histories to help them understand where their current challenges stem from and to
support their moving forward I can see the process of healing and moving forward as somewhat of a
personal revolution.
In the chapter Problem Solving, Trotter (2006c) outlines the seven steps 1. Problem survey; 2.
Problem ranking; 3. Problem exploration; 4. Setting goals; 5. Developing a contract; 6. Developing
strategies and tasks; and 7. Ongoing review of problem solving (p. 110). These are all steps that I was
trained to preform during service assessments but with a strengths base approach and viewed through
the lens of client centered and general systems theories, which I find to be complementary
accompaniments to Trotter s approach. One of the suggestions that I found helpful and will
incorporate into my future practice is the author s

Disney Vertical Integration Paper
Overview of the concept of corporate level strategy
Corporate level strategy is to the basis for strategic business decisions made by the top management to
influence the corporation as a whole. Concentration strategy is used when the company focuses on one
business field. Vertical integration occurs when the company controls the supply chain that produces
products by itself or distributes the products directly to the markets. Diversification, also known as,
horizontal integration is related to acquiring or merging different or similar businesses to increase
market share. Some companies engage related diversification strategy, whereby the various businesses
are in someway interconnected and related to the company s core business, vs. an unrelated
diversification strategy , whereby the various ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Disney licenses the third parties to create and distribute movies and earns a licensing fee (Forward,
2013). Some programming is also distributed and sold by its own studio segment, and Disney websites
or ESPN.com. Like other business segments, there is both horizontal and vertical integration. The
development of new productions in this area provides opportunities for new consumer products based
on characters in those productions, as well as new rides and shows at WDP R.
Consumer Products
Disney produces apparel, toys, home furnishings, electronics, food, stationery, and health and beauty
that could be sold through merchandise licensing, publishing, and the retail business. This segment
plays an important role in Disney s related diversification strategy. These products are typically based
on characters or events from Studio Entertainment productions. The products help build a stronger
connection to Disney for the consumer since they can have a piece of Disney with them all the time
through these consumer products.

CART Vs Propaganda
As the strategic marketing analyst for IndyCar, I believe it is in our best interest to orchestrate IndyCar
Series races in the United States, with one single game in a foreign market; preferably a Hispanic
market. CART tried to tap into the foreign market even while utilizing foreign drivers, but it was not
successful. According to Ferrell Hartline, CART feared they were loosing the interest of Americans
and began races in foreign countries and they put too much focus on promoting top foreign drivers as
CART stars (2014, p.442). Furthermore, stars should happen naturally, to alter the media to showcase
foreign stars should solely depend on talent not propaganda.

Neanderthals Hypothesis
The next major step in human development is the Neanderthal. In Comparison to the other primates
discussed this far, Neanderthals existed very recently and existed alongside Homo Sapiens during their
time until they became extinct 40,000 years ago. Humans and Neanderthals share DNA that is 99.7%
identical as compared to the next closest genetic relative the Chimpanzee(98.8%). Physically
Neanderthals had short legs and long bodies (compared to humans). Neanderthals had a cranial
capacity of 1,427 cubic centimeters on average, this is very close to the H. sapiens cranial capacity..
Neanderthals contributed directly to the genome modern humans around 60,000 years ago, which was

The Social Brain Hypothesis is a result of Robin Dunbar; a British Anthropologist, attempting to
explain the evolution of humans socially and its effect on the brain. Professor Dunbar says due to the
high energy usage of the brain, he finds it difficult to justify that humans need larger brains to perform
the same job. Dunbar stated Because the cost of maintaining a large brain is so great, it is intrinsically
unlikely that large brains will evolve merely because they can. Large brains will evolve only when the
selection factor in their favor is sufficient to overcome the steep cost gradient. (Dunbar). Dunbar said
while the change to more energy rich diets are definitely a reason brains increased in size, it does not
explain why the human brain is so much larger than normal. Dunbar says that the complexity of social
environments has an effect on the brain and its evolution, and the part of the brain that enables these
processes is the neocortex, which is the biggest reason for the expansion of the primate brain. Dunbar
believes that changes in certain portions of the brain have a larger effect on size then just the brain
getting bigger by itself This is especially true of the neocortex, for its volume accounts for 50% to
80% of total brain volume in primates. Thus, changes in the volume of the neocortex inevitably have a
large direct effect on apparent change in brain volume that may be quite unrelated to changes in other
brain components. (Dunbar), Dunbar means that the brain isn t getting bigger just to get bigger, but as
certain environmental or in this case; social factors affect certain parts of the brain which in turn cause
it to get bigger. Dunbar says The neocortex is generally regarded as being the seat of those cognitive
processes that we associate with reasoning and consciousness, and therefore may be expected to be
under the most intense selection from the need to

Why Not To Jump In College
Could you imagine jumping off of a building or a cliff and managing to fly with only a parachute? Just
the thought of that happening screams extreme. The risks an athlete takes, the skills and preparation
needed for just one jump and the process itself is why BASE jumping is considered an extreme sport.
There are many motives as to why an athlete would put themselves in such a bizarre position as to put
their life on the line. Although many others and myself included find these jumps incredibly risky, I
can t judge them and say they are doing life wrong. Instead of going life by the book, we should open
our minds to some ideas that may not be so out of this world as we portray them to be.
BASE jumping goes back a couple decades. Carl Boenish, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

but he already has too many commitments, so he moves on to ask Jim Handbury, Kent Lane, Mike

to go anywhere with Carl Boenish , says Tom Start, he makes you walk up and down the same
sections of the trial over and over as he films this angle, that angle, then another angle . Then, on
August 8, 1978, was the day modern BASE jumping was born (Di Giovanni). On this jump, the first
person to go is Kent Lane. As he jumps off, the rest of the guys look at each other, they knew
something significant had just occurred (Di Giovanni). Five minutes later, Tom Start, Mike Sherrin
and Ken Gosselin follow Lane and it all works out perfectly, while Carl is left behind since he decided
to record the whole thing (Di Giovanni). Later on, Kent says the jump dosed him with such a feeling
of speed and incredible visuals that it made the leap the most memorable in his entire career (Di
Giovanni). Carl also came up with the name BASE jumping that is still used today. He also published
a magazine called BASE Magazine that was used to spread the word on safety (Di Giovanni). In 1984,
Carl Boenish is killed while doing a jump in Norway, however he did live enough to see the sport of

Advantages and Disadvantage to being AArt Director
Michael Temple Professor Sigmon RWS 305 11 a.m. 14 October 2014 Need for Visual
Communication Art has been much more than just a hobby or a way of expressing ones feelings, it
was long before there was any proof of a verbal language; art was a key form of communication.
Artists create art to communicate ideas, thoughts, or feelings. They use a variety of methods such as
painting, sculpting, or illustration. Also an assortment of medians, including oils, watercolors, acrylics,

Through my research, artist can struggle to find a job they want or find it hard to sell their art. Those
artists who do not versatile in the different media s of art, their opportunities can be limited due to
keen completion in both salary jobs and freelance work. This is mainly due to the number of qualified
workers/artist exceeding the number of available openings in the career field. As I stated earlier, there
are some requirement to becoming an art director, and fulfilling those requirements can be difficult.
You have to at least find a job and keep it competitively to sustain an income. In a Houston Chronicle
article online by Megan Torrance mentions painters like me have trouble finding work and
commissions, ...the BLS reports that the number of charitable donations has been declining in recent
years. In spite of this, interest in the occupation has remained steady and led to a larger pool of
qualified candidate... the BLS projects the market will remain competitive from 2010 to 2020
(Chron.com). The artist occupying the art and design field is increasing while the number of jobs
openings is staying at a steady rate. This is why it is important to be versatile in multimedia of art, so
that you have more opportunities at different jobs in the art field. To be an art director you pretty much
have to be versatile in the different media s and have a few different positions under your belt to
qualify for the position. Another disadvantage to be

Preventing Hispanic Teenage Mothers From Being Able For...
There are many barriers which prevent Hispanic teenage mothers from being able to graduate high
school. However, there are many ways they can overcome those obstacles, such as receiving their
education and having educational, family, health, and economical support.
School/Education
Staying in school and receiving their education is important so teenage mothers can remain resilient
and graduate high school. In a study conducted, 69.7% of adolescents in the study were either
enrolled, or graduated from high school. 78.7% of those adolescents received passing grades, and
76.7% of them saw finishing high school as essential (SIaDAPA). Most of the adolescents in this
study saw the importance of staying in school and education, and they graduated. They know that
eventually their hard work will pay off. This shows that graduating high school is related to the
students value of how important high school is (SIaDAPA). Along with their cultural and social
norms, a teen s personal values may be reflected by their educational decisions in life (School
Importance and Dropout Among Pregnant Adolescents). If they desire positive educational desires,
they ll have positive personal values such as being courageous, staying motivated, and being
committed. If teenage mothers do not have high expectations for themselves academically, we can
assume that they may not have positive personal values in order to persevere and graduate high
school. Therefore, they are less likely to graduate high

Over Indulgence In Materialistic Views In The Veldt By Ray...
Many people would argue that society has become oblivious to the side effects of indulging in
materialistic objects. Although Ray Bradbury wrote the story The Veldt over 50 years ago, he
discusses this timeless issue of people caring more for materialistic objects than each other. In
Bradbury s short story The Veldt , the children in the family, Wendy and Peter, have relied on the
technological objects they have too much, and will do anything to keep them despite being told no by
their parents, George and Lydia. Through the use of imagery, motifs and foreshadowing Ray Bradbury
proves that over indulgence in materialistic views can have grave consequences. Ray Bradbury uses
foreshadowing to prove that over indulgence in materialistic views can have grave consequences. For
example on page 3, Bradbury hints that the children will do something bad because he writes, When I
punished him a month ago by locking the nursery... the tantrum he threw (Bradbury 3). The reader
continues to grow worried about Peter and Wendy s behavior when there are screams coming from the
nursery. Therefore, Bradbury establishes that the children are overly connected to their tech not their
own parents. That is why it is not surprising to the reader when the kids lock their parents in the
nursery to get them killed. This is shows foreshadowing works in proving that over indulgence in
materialistic views can have grave consequences by showing that in this perfect utopia, this is the first
that the reader has heard anything about a kerfuffle between the children and the parents. Another
reason why, is the parents are talking about turning the whole house off for a month which is a lot
longer than a few hours. In conclusion Bradbury uses the dark hints of the parent s demise to prove
that over indulgence in materialistic views can have grave consequences, by showing that when
people become too reliable on the things that they can hold, and as soon as they are taken away, we
have no idea what to do without them. Ray Bradbury uses motifs to prove that over indulgence in
materialistic views can have grave consequences. For example on page 5 George, the father, is
walking down the hall and hears a scream coming from the nursery. The sound

The Three Major Schools Of Philosophy Essay
1. Describe in your own words the three major schools of philosophy in Hinduism.
The three major schools of philosophy in Hinduism are Vedanta, Sankhya, and Yoga. In this way, the
path of knowledge is experienced. Jnana Marga is knowledge of a very special sort, amounting to
extraordinary insight that is far beyond merely knowing about the subject matter (Brodd 54). This
practice of Vedanta is representative of the monism of Hinduism. This means that (a)ll reality is
essentially one... (Brodd 55). This can be a difficult idea to understand because Vedanta impresses the
notion that the persistent sense of individuality prevents us from actually experiencing the truth
(Brodd 55). The example of a drop of water is used to explain this concept best. It can be thought that
a drop of water is separate from the vast ocean but once this small drop of water is contained in the
ocean, there is no way to distinguish it from the other drops of water. Likewise, we have an illusion of
separate identity but are one. The ultimate goal is to experience this truth and then the path of
knowledge will have been fully met; this is known as Brahman. That which is distracting and serves
as the illusion is called Maya.
Next, Sankhya differs from Vedanta because it asserts that reality is composed of two distinct
categories: matter, and an infinite number of eternal selves (Brodd 56). Somehow, the multitudes of
selves become tangled with matter and when this occurs they are

Catalase Experiment
Discussion: According to the experiment, the highest reaction rate occurred when the enzyme,
Catalase, was 50% concentrated (see Fig.3). However, all of the rates were fairly similar no matter the
concentration, except for the test with 0% concentration. That test resulted in no production of Oxygen
because there was no enzyme for the Hydrogen peroxide to react to so nothing occurred in the testing
container (see Fig. 1). In Fig. 2, you can see that all of the concentrations, aside from 0%
concentration all produced very similar amounts of Oxygen even though there was not as much of the
enzyme in the tests that we added water to in order to change the concentration. The water took the
place of a portion of the enzyme, or all of it, to keep a constant volume of enzyme mixture and to see
how changing the amount enzymes. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We used this information to form our hypothesis, which was that the 100% concentration test would
have the highest reaction rate because the more enzyme is the more active sites there are, so more
reactions can occur, and the the Hydrogen peroxide will be decomposed faster, giving it a higher rate.
However, the results of our experiment did not support this. Like explained before, the test that
resulted in the highest rate was the one with 50% concentration. It is unknown why this occurred. The
sources provided in class, a graph, showed that there should be linear growth between concentration
and rate, which supports our hypothesis. Fig. 2 shows that the reaction rate plateaus towards the end of
the 50 seconds, but this is because of the limited and constant amount of substrate, so it slowed down
when the Hydrogen peroxide ran out. Our data did not support our hypothesis, but the class source
support our

Responding to Wii Essay
Responding to the Wii Group Case Writeup
BUSMHR 4490
In the Harvard Business Review case Responding to the Wii, Kazuo Hirai was faced with an
interesting dilemma. Hirai, the chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. faced pressure
due to Sony s Playstation 3 video game console losing market share to the Nintendo Wii. Hirai faced a
major business decision in deciding how Sony should respond to the cheaper, more interactive, family
oriented Nintendo Wii.

This is especially prevalent within the companies that own the majority of the market share. While
continuous improvement is necessary on current products, it is also crucial to be bold and thinking
outside of the box.
As mentioned, the common theme across the video game industry has been creating an innovative
product and then simply improving the system over time. While that has been proven to work in
instances in the past, there is a lot to learn from the creation of Nintendo s Wii. Nintendo, like the rest
of the company s used the same ideology of continuing improvements to an already developed product
until they took a bold move of introducing a whole new game console. When Nintendo introduced the
Wii, they took a risk because it was not similar to their previous game consoles. They saw an
opportunity to bring something new to the video game industry that could create value to not only the
originally targeted market, but also a much larger market.
The Nintendo Wii is a prime example of how a company can serve their already targeted market and
also see the opportunity to expand into additional segments. Much of Wii s success was due to the fact

What is the Relationship Between Technological Change and Cultural Change?
Introduction
Technology has advanced rapidly over the last decade and these changes have affected all aspects of
life including media. The advent of social media tools such as twitter and facebook means users do not
have to wait to get to know about particular news. In other words, they have instant access to news
today and this was not the case about 15 years ago. During the Pre Internet era, people had to wait for
news to get published in their local news and this news that eventually came to them were filtered and
edited to ensure that people heard or read only what they should. Along with these technological
advancements, many cultural changes have also happened in the way people receive news.
To get a deeper insight into this issue, this paper will take on a few cultural aspects of journalism that
has changed with the advent of technology. While there are many areas, this paper will specifically
focus on two areas, namely, citizen journalism and changes that have occurred in the tone and style of
news presentation. These two aspects were chosen because they are two of the most evident changes
that have happened since people started using the Internet. These aspects have changed the way people
consume and deliver news, thereby bringing about a new culture in journalism and this is why they are
discussed in great detail in this paper.

Thoughts Of Ancient Roman Man Of The Modern World
Thoughts of an Ancient Roman Man of the Modern World
An ancient Roman man of A.D. 100, walks throughout the hustle and bustle of New York City and
instantly is reminded of how diverse in culture and peoples Roman provinces were. He would take a
seat in Central Park and observe people who are talking in Spanish and another group of people
talking in English. He picks up a few words here and there because he has rigorously studied Latin
and Greek language and literature. He is comforted by the roads and bridges he walks on and sees. He
comes across a water fountain in the park and looked around to see where the nearest aqueduct was.
He would later find out that underground water pipes replaced aqueducts. Our expansion of the

Some sculptors reminded him of the Etruscan sculptors who carved each and every flaw on a person s
face and body.
Of course, the Roman man gets tired and thirsty, so he makes his way to the nearest bar to have some
wine. He was highly impressed by the wine and wished he could take back some to ancient Rome or
at least find out how to make it. Upon glancing at the television, he sees presidential candidates
debating. Presidential debates remind him of what he read about Cicero, a famous orator and
politician, who said, [Young men must learn to] excel in public speaking. It is the tool for controlling
men at Rome. (Hunt. 144). He wondered who Cicero would think is an excellent public speaker and
would succeed in ruling this country. He takes a few glances at the other televisions in the bar and sees
the action packed boxing and wrestling matches. These took him back to when he saw his first
gladiatorial combat when he was a little boy. He shook his head; he thought these modern matches
were too tame and this modern world doesn t know true fighting.
Thinking in depth about his childhood, he had a coming of age ceremony when he was about fifteen
years of age. Romans practiced a coming of age ceremony for boys of the upper class. This ceremony
introduced him into the public life and changed his view of the world for the better. It made him more
physically and intellectually apt. A modern version of this coming of age ceremony would be a Bar

Jenny Lawson s Furiously Happy
The days I was caught in the storm of depression united me with Jenny Lawson s second book that
became my therapy for that period of time. It was recommended by a close friend who knew of the
challenges I faced in a haze of darkness. When she recited excerpts from the book, immediately, the
words changed from tangible squiggles to lived nights in distant insomnia.
On days I was unable to pull myself out of bed, I would read Furiously Happy while under my covers,
staring at the ceiling and dealing with the many voices that kept clawing and breaking each layer
down that built a fortress of self doubt and underwater volcanos of self loathing. Many people do not
understand these feelings that blossomed inside, and therefore bring their own selective perspectives
about mental illness devaluing my human in brain experiences. Explaining to them proved to be
harder.
While with a friend, I mentioned my experiences with depression and anxiety medication and her
response was that it was most definitely a placebo and that I should try and be more optimistic, words
have often heard. This not only invalidated my lived experiences, indirectly, she was calling me a liar.
This seems to be the most common opinion people hold about mental struggles, and Jenny addresses
this in her book. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are very few books that cover the topic of depression that are hysterical while triggering my

most profound moments was when she spoke about the silent war that those suffering from mental

mental illness is what creates a barrier. You cannot judge from mere appearance how loud and loaded

Horse Primates Compare And Contrast
When we see an animal, do we ever think about what is going on deeper than the eye can see? Do you
ever think about all the things firing inside to keep things in balance and the animal functioning?
Horses and primates have many similarities as well as differences.
Starting with the skeletal system, the skulls on a primate and a horse are quite different. A primate s
skull usually lacks the large sagittal crest (Cavendish, 2010, pg.10). Just like a horse, they also have
very powerful jaws for chewing their food. They have very pronounced brow bones, and a large
forehead. However, in horses and in primates the head is very proportioned with the whole body.
Horses foreheads are typically flat and broad, while a primate s skull is quite smaller and more
rounded. Primates have a very flexible and short neck, while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They consume foods such as fruits, leaves, bark, stems, insects, and even other primates. Nothing is
off limits (Cavendish, 2010, pg.19). Horses on the other hand are herbivores, so they only eat plant
based foods. Horses have hindgut fermenters, which mean that they only have one stomach, but it
contains four different compartments to digest food. This contains the reticulum, rumen, omasum, and
the abomasum which is the true stomach. They also have a flap that hangs over the distal end of the
esophagus which prevents them from vomiting. Primates on the other hand, can vomit. Since horses
have hindgut fermenters, digestion is broken down into multiple segments. Those segments include
the cecum, ventral colon, and the dorsal colon (Miyaji, 2014). Primates digest their food a little
differently. There aren t many compartments the food has to travel through. Food travels down the
esophagus into the stomach, where it is met by stomach acid and food is broken down and passed
through the small and large intestine, nutrients are absorbed, and the waste is

Comparing Michelangelo And Bernini s David
One can see from the many depictions through paintings, sculptures, and architecture that the biblical
young David served as an heroic influence and inspiration for many artists. The creation of these
masterpieces, although constructed in different moments in time, individually display and bring out
great emotional responses from its viewers. When speaking on the statue of David, Michelangelo s
sculpture is world famous and most highly noted. However there is more than one David; one in
which was created more than a century later by the great Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
When looking at Michelangelo s depiction of David in comparison to Bernini s depiction of David,
one can see similar aspects as well as the demonstrated differences. The most obvious difference
would be between the eras in which these sculptures were constructed and the moment in time in
which both artist decided to present. Michelangelo s David, developed in the High Renaissance
period, is that of a brave, confident, and strong young man; preparing himself for the battle ahead of
him. His statue illustrates the human form at the greatest level of achievement, in which it is modeled
after Greek gods; the perfect version of human form. This form of David is elegant, composed,
relaxed, and athletic; creating a sense of pride and peacefulness ... Show more content on

Baroque period being as it s dramatic, full of movement, its diagonals create energy, it draws the

Llewellyn Moss, a welder and Vietnam veteran, who happens to stumble upon several murdered
bodies, a sufficient supply of cocaine, and two million dollars of cartel drug money. Moss decides to
seize the money and consequently sets off a chase for his life against the old hand sheriff Ed Tom Bell

takes advantage of other people s hard work. As Chigurh grows weary, he takes a coin from his pocket

unknowingly wins every possible aspect in his life in that single moment. Yet, Chigurh believes he is
not the decider of life or death, but instead an instrument of fate. The fate people brought upon

flipping settles what the victim will come across next, whether it is life or death. It can now be
assumed there are factors, in which it cannot be avoided because it is predetermined. On the other
hand, his encounter with Carla Jean Moss contradicts predestination. Carla Jean Moss swears, You

Australia s Economic Success And Growth Rates
Economic Background:
In the past two decades, the Australian economy has been, and continues to be a very strong and
steady economy because of steady GDP growth rates, with an average around 3.5% annually
(Heritage.org). Australia has also benefitted from considerably low inflation and unemployment rates.
Because of these macroeconomic values, Australia is ranked third in the ranking of regional
economies (Heritage.org). The reasons for Australia s ongoing success is mainly because of the boom
in foreign demand of importing the plethora of natural resources and minerals the country contains,
combined with the structural economic policies enacted in the 1980 s (The Economist Australia s
Economy). Australia is also one of the few countries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The largest slice of Australia s exports go to China, exporting around 31.6% of its total exports,
making China Australia s biggest benefactor to its economy (DFAT). Although the exports mainly
consist of the titanic amount of minerals that Australia mines, China also imports large quantities of
wool, another heavily traded commodity of Australia. One of the leading wool industries, the
Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) has said it is easier to sell fine wool for clothes to China than to
traditional recession hit markets in Europe (The Economist Hitched to the China Wagon).
The exportation of wool in conjunction with the exportation of minerals and ore to China makes China
a strong partner with Australia when it comes to resource trading. China obviously is dependent on
Australia s exportations, making Australia s relations with China a strength of the overall Australian
economy. The Australian economy however, is clearly just as dependent on China s demand for such
commodities. Although Australia greatly benefits from China s demand in its exports, Australia needs
to make sure the trade relations between them don t act as a crutch for the Australian economy. Recent
studies and articles predict China s demand for Australian goods will be shifting leftward in the near
future, possibly impacting Australia s economy, and putting it into a recession.
Weaknesses of Economy:
When it comes to economic weaknesses, Australia is fairly unique in comparison to other

In what way(s) is Japanese religion as much a matter of practice as it is beliefs ? And, if applicable,
are you able to step back and find ways in which your own habits, practices, or ways of acting in the

Japanese religion is not just one religion. Within the reading it says there are as many Japanese
religions as there are Japanese people. (PAGE 6) This means that in Japanese culture one does not
have to associate themselves with just one religion. The practices that the Japanese people take part in
are festivals. Families will attend festivals of all religions. The families will also take beliefs of all

result, other nations across the globe, including Canada, are also looking towards the legalization of

Problem Management Minimizes The Adverse Impact Of...
Ans1: Problem Management minimizes the adverse impact of incidents on the business and enables
root cause analysis to identify a permanent solution.
Problem Detection
Trend analysis is the key to spot the Problems. A Trend analysis helps in giving a proactive approach
to the Problem Management by which you can avoid the occurrence of the problem earlier rather than
resolving the problem at a later stage. The reports in ServiceDesk Plus gives you information on
identifying the real causes of Incidents created earlier and what should be identified as a problem. Get
the pattern of failure from an Item based reports (Report on Request by Item and Report on Problems
by Item) and identify the IT service which has to be improved. Problem Logging
The Problem logging is critical as all the necessary information and conclusion from the incident has
to be captured while creating the Problem. Create a problem from the Incidents maintaining the
complete association and the information from it. Avoid duplicates by searching for similar existing
problems before the creation of a new Problem. Categorization
Problem categorization is very essential to avoid ambiguities. Service Desk Plus helps in applying the
incident categorization automatically to a Problem when it is created and this helps in keeping the
Problem technicians in the same level of understanding as the Incident technicians. When the number
of incidents raised is more, it might be a painful task to search these incidents

The Worst Mistake In The History Of The Human Race Summary
Jared Diamond, in his article, The Worst Mistake in the History of the Human race , explains that the
worst mistake that humans made was the decision to change from a hunter gatherer society into an
agriculture society. Jared Diamond gives evidence of how switching from an agricultural society was a
bad mistake. Many believe that adopting an agricultural society and leaving the hunter gatherer
society was the way to a more qualitative and sustainable lifestyle. As Diamond says, it is true that
because this society was adopted and evolved because we have longer lifespans and live better now
than how people lived back in the old days. But Diamond`s claim that the hunter gatherer society gave
humans more benefits individually than what the agricultural society had to offer is agreeable.
Diamond claims that hunters and gathers received more protein and a better nutrient balance than what
farmers received. He gives an example of a hunter gather group such as the Kalahari Bushmen to
enforce this argument. This group lives off the hunters gathers methods in the twentieth century. Even
by being hunters and gatherers, they can still provide for themselves. In the article, a study shows that
hunters and gathers are self sufficient and get the food they need. A Bushmen takes in 2,140 calories
and 93 grams of protein. Diamond says this is more than the recommended allowance for people of
their size. Hunters and gatherers eat variety as they live off what the Earth has to offer while on the
other hand, farmers live off the non diversified plants they grow. He then also indirectly mentions risk
of agriculture by mentioning the potato famine which was a time of starvation for the Irish. There are
also many risks and disadvantages of agriculture. Whenever these disadvantages come into effect, the
consequences could be major. In some cases, things can get as bad as the potato famine. Farmers are
always reliant on the crops for their source of food. Many factors could interfere with the production
of food such as a natural disaster, weather, soil erosion, and the timing and season when to plant crops.
If one factor occurred, it could possibly fatally ruin many of the crops which would make many starve.

Comparing Pyramus And A Midsummer Night s Dream
Pyramus and Thisbe is the story of forbidden love. Pyramus and Thisbe talk through a hole in the wall
that separates them. After realizing that the hole was not enough to satisfy them they decide to run
away. Similarly, Shakespeare s A Midsummer Nights Dream tells the tale of Hermia and Lysander,
two lovers, who find themselves running away into a forest to have a happy ending in their love story.
Both stories are comparable for the reason of forbidden love but the outcomes of the stories
differentiate them. Forbidden love encourages the longing for love. Both Pyramus and Thisbe and A
Midsummer Nights Dream tell the tale of lovers who run away so that they can be together. Pyramus

  • 2. Example Of A Cultural Autobiography Example There is nothing quite like a Cultural Autobiography to make you reexamine your life and upbringing. I was born into a normal Jamaican family, ten fingers ten toes was all that was needed back then. I was the youngest of two sisters and one brother. My parents were unmarried and my sibling, who I grew up with and I shared different fathers. As a family we never discussed family members outside our immediate families and with only half siblings the idea of we figured our distant relatives were either family or complete strangers. My earliest memory has always been of me and my older brother getting into trouble and our sisters scolding us. The oldest was 8 years older than me and she took the role of our guardian due to our parent s careers. My father was a Police Officer and my mother was a Certified Nurse Assistant both hard working and devoted Christians. This is in line with the majority of citizens in Jamaica. My story begins with my father, all throughout my childhood he has always been strict and distant. Similar to me, he was raised the youngest among his four siblings albeit in the countryside of Jamaica. He studied the bible and at one point started his academic journey in hopes of becoming a pastor. Somewhere along his journey he decided to forgo that desire and chose to become an officer of the law instead. His early life was marked with humble stories of walking several miles barefooted to go to school in order become more educated. Studying and working hard in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The City Of Lancaster s General Plan Introduction: I have chosen the City of Lancaster s General Plan entitled, Soaring into the Future . Entitled so to pay homage to the City s desire to grow and change, as well as a nod to its economic support from Edwards Air Force Base. The City of Lancaster is a city in the Northern Los Angeles County, in the western Mojave Desert. The City is separated from other communities because it is located in the valley between the Tehachapi Mountains to the North and the San Gabriel Mountains to the South. The area has a warm semi arid steppe climate which is less hot but rainier than areas with a typical arid climate. This particular plan when into effect July 14, 2009 and is expected to last until the year 2030. Ultimately I will argue that due to the desire to maintain the City of Lancaster as a rural escape for commuters and inability to provide jobs the implementation of these programs can become contradictory. History of the City: The first General Plan for the City of Lancaster was adopted in 1980. At that time, the area in question occupied a space of approximately 37 square miles, with a population of 47, 882 people. Eight years later, the area had increased to 83 square miles, with a population of approximately 100,000 residents. This significant increase in size and population prompted the City Council to adopt a new General Plan in March of 1992. However, between 1988 and the adoption of the new plan in 1992, the City incorporated an additional 12 square miles, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The abstract is typically a short summary of the contents of the document.] | What Role Did Socrates Play in Ancient Greece? In the leading city of Athens 2,500 years ago during the Golden Age, a peculiar philosopher was born into the reign of Pericles. Socrates went against common religion, influenced social roles and people, and was the founder of the Socratic Method. Religious opinions affected Socrates life a great deal. Whereas most Athenians observed polytheism and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They were very popular but loathed at the same time because of the financial problems they were causing. For example, the most famous sophist was called Corax. He had a student called Tisias who refused to pay the fee for his classes, he said Before I started, you promised you would teach me to persuade anyone to do whatever I wanted. Let me now persuade you not to ask for your fee. If you still demand it, you did not do what you promised, therefore I owe you nothing. However, Socrates discredited this, However, not one of these things is true; nor, if you have heard from anyone that I attempt to teach men and require payment, is this true. (Plato, n.d.). Socrates irritated people by insisting things that could not be true. Critobulus, who was considered by many to be the most handsome man in Athens. However, Socrates, with his protruding eyes and large nose insisted he was more stunning than Critobulus. Socrates defended this by saying things such as Because while yours see straight ahead, mine, by bulging out as they do, see also to the sides, and Mine, I consider, granting that Providence made us noses to smell with. For your nostrils look down toward the ground, but mine are wide open and turned outward so that I can catch scents from all around. (Zannos, 2004). Another story of Socrates impacting the life of an individual is shown by the dialogue that he had with a young man he met at a wrestling school named Lysis. Socrates admitted to ... • 5. I Don t Know It Makes Us Poor There once was a girl named Emily, who was 6 years old. She lived on a small farm, in a small town, with not many people. She had 9 older siblings and 2 younger siblings. Emily and her family were poor but, she didn t know that because, she always got what she needed. Her mom taught her how to sew her clothes. Her dad taught her how to run the farm. Emily went to school, but only had one friend named Anna. She was always bullied. One day she was washing dishes and turned to her mom and asked, Mom are we poor? Her mom looked at her and said No we are not poor. We just don t have things other families have. I don t understand. I feel like it makes us poor. said Emily. Well someday you will learn that not having things other families have doesn t make us poor. Now get over here and finish these dishes. Then, go finish your homework, said Emily s mom. Okay mom, said Emily still confused. The very next day, Emily went to school. There were always two bullies that picked on her. Your family is so poor even your mom can t buy you clothes. said one of the bullies. My mama may be poor, but she can make better clothes than your mama ever could, said Emily. She was proud of herself for standing up for herself. The bullies finally left her alone for now at least. When Emily got home, she saw her mom making something new. She knew it wasn t for her because, she always got hand me downs. Mom we are poor. You said we weren t. Said ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Building Trust And Cooperation Within The Worker Client... Another element from the conversation that makes sense to me, and I will be more conscious of in the future, is the explanation of how our clients not reaching their goals, or not being able to achieve a certain task, as an opportunity to explore why not and to give them more positive reinforcements rather than to count not accomplishing tasks as failures against them (Quartz, March 7, 2016). I can see these practices as ways to build trust and cooperation within the worker client relationship. C. Elements that I already knew about and furthered and/or clarified my knowledge and understanding throughout the semester... While I understood that clarifying roles involves social workers helping clients understand the nature of the process and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another element that I will use in future practice, that I was aware of in another context, is part of the relationship building process of supporting the client coming to terms with their history, the present situation, and their future. We discussed using timeframes to help clients with this process, which is something I had not thought of to use in the context of this course but it makes sense and I will use it in the future. In policy analyse and political science, this method is used in understanding policies, the history of wars, revolutions, and social movements so of course it makes sense to apply it to clients with tumultuous histories to help them understand where their current challenges stem from and to support their moving forward I can see the process of healing and moving forward as somewhat of a personal revolution. In the chapter Problem Solving, Trotter (2006c) outlines the seven steps 1. Problem survey; 2. Problem ranking; 3. Problem exploration; 4. Setting goals; 5. Developing a contract; 6. Developing strategies and tasks; and 7. Ongoing review of problem solving (p. 110). These are all steps that I was trained to preform during service assessments but with a strengths base approach and viewed through the lens of client centered and general systems theories, which I find to be complementary accompaniments to Trotter s approach. • 7. Disney Vertical Integration Paper Overview of the concept of corporate level strategy Corporate level strategy is to the basis for strategic business decisions made by the top management to influence the corporation as a whole. Concentration strategy is used when the company focuses on one business field. Vertical integration occurs when the company controls the supply chain that produces products by itself or distributes the products directly to the markets. Diversification, also known as, horizontal integration is related to acquiring or merging different or similar businesses to increase market share. • 8. CART Vs Propaganda As the strategic marketing analyst for IndyCar, I believe it is in our best interest to orchestrate IndyCar Series races in the United States, with one single game in a foreign market; preferably a Hispanic market. CART tried to tap into the foreign market even while utilizing foreign drivers, but it was not successful. According to Ferrell Hartline, CART feared they were loosing the interest of Americans and began races in foreign countries and they put too much focus on promoting top foreign drivers as CART stars (2014, p.442). Furthermore, stars should happen naturally, to alter the media to showcase foreign stars should solely depend on talent not propaganda. • 9. Neanderthals Hypothesis The next major step in human development is the Neanderthal. In Comparison to the other primates discussed this far, Neanderthals existed very recently and existed alongside Homo Sapiens during their time until they became extinct 40,000 years ago. Humans and Neanderthals share DNA that is 99.7% identical as compared to the next closest genetic relative the Chimpanzee(98.8%). Physically Neanderthals had short legs and long bodies (compared to humans). Neanderthals had a cranial capacity of 1,427 cubic centimeters on average, this is very close to the H. sapiens cranial capacity.. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Social Brain Hypothesis is a result of Robin Dunbar; a British Anthropologist, attempting to explain the evolution of humans socially and its effect on the brain. Professor Dunbar says due to the high energy usage of the brain, he finds it difficult to justify that humans need larger brains to perform the same job. Dunbar stated Because the cost of maintaining a large brain is so great, it is intrinsically unlikely that large brains will evolve merely because they can. Large brains will evolve only when the selection factor in their favor is sufficient to overcome the steep cost gradient. (Dunbar). Dunbar said while the change to more energy rich diets are definitely a reason brains increased in size, it does not explain why the human brain is so much larger than normal. Dunbar says that the complexity of social environments has an effect on the brain and its evolution, and the part of the brain that enables these processes is the neocortex, which is the biggest reason for the expansion of the primate brain. Dunbar believes that changes in certain portions of the brain have a larger effect on size then just the brain getting bigger by itself This is especially true of the neocortex, for its volume accounts for 50% to 80% of total brain volume in primates. Thus, changes in the volume of the neocortex inevitably have a large direct effect on apparent change in brain volume that may be quite unrelated to changes in other brain components. (Dunbar), Dunbar means that the brain isn t getting bigger just to get bigger, but as certain environmental or in this case; social factors affect certain parts of the brain which in turn cause it to get bigger. Dunbar says The neocortex is generally regarded as being the seat of those cognitive processes that we associate with reasoning and consciousness, and therefore may be expected to be under the most intense selection from the need to ... • 10. Why Not To Jump In College Could you imagine jumping off of a building or a cliff and managing to fly with only a parachute? Just the thought of that happening screams extreme. The risks an athlete takes, the skills and preparation needed for just one jump and the process itself is why BASE jumping is considered an extreme sport. There are many motives as to why an athlete would put themselves in such a bizarre position as to put their life on the line. Although many others and myself included find these jumps incredibly risky, I can t judge them and say they are doing life wrong. Instead of going life by the book, we should open our minds to some ideas that may not be so out of this world as we portray them to be. BASE jumping goes back a couple decades. Carl Boenish, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Carl hikes the trail and decides where he wants to jump from (Di Giovanni). He asks Rich Picarilli, but he already has too many commitments, so he moves on to ask Jim Handbury, Kent Lane, Mike Sherrin and Tom Start (Di Giovanni). They hike up so they get to know the area well. You never want to go anywhere with Carl Boenish , says Tom Start, he makes you walk up and down the same sections of the trial over and over as he films this angle, that angle, then another angle . Then, on August 8, 1978, was the day modern BASE jumping was born (Di Giovanni). On this jump, the first person to go is Kent Lane. As he jumps off, the rest of the guys look at each other, they knew something significant had just occurred (Di Giovanni). • 16. Over Indulgence In Materialistic Views In The Veldt By Ray... Many people would argue that society has become oblivious to the side effects of indulging in materialistic objects. Although Ray Bradbury wrote the story The Veldt over 50 years ago, he discusses this timeless issue of people caring more for materialistic objects than each other. In Bradbury s short story The Veldt , the children in the family, Wendy and Peter, have relied on the technological objects they have too much, and will do anything to keep them despite being told no by their parents, George and Lydia. Through the use of imagery, motifs and foreshadowing Ray Bradbury proves that over indulgence in materialistic views can have grave consequences. Ray Bradbury uses foreshadowing to prove that over indulgence in materialistic views can have grave consequences. For example on page 3, Bradbury hints that the children will do something bad because he writes, When I punished him a month ago by locking the nursery... the tantrum he threw (Bradbury 3). The reader continues to grow worried about Peter and Wendy s behavior when there are screams coming from the nursery. Therefore, Bradbury establishes that the children are overly connected to their tech not their own parents. That is why it is not surprising to the reader when the kids lock their parents in the nursery to get them killed. This is shows foreshadowing works in proving that over indulgence in materialistic views can have grave consequences by showing that in this perfect utopia, this is the first that the reader has heard anything about a kerfuffle between the children and the parents. Another reason why, is the parents are talking about turning the whole house off for a month which is a lot longer than a few hours. In conclusion Bradbury uses the dark hints of the parent s demise to prove that over indulgence in materialistic views can have grave consequences, by showing that when people become too reliable on the things that they can hold, and as soon as they are taken away, we have no idea what to do without them. Ray Bradbury uses motifs to prove that over indulgence in materialistic views can have grave consequences. For example on page 5 George, the father, is walking down the hall and hears a scream coming from the nursery. The sound ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. The Three Major Schools Of Philosophy Essay 1. Describe in your own words the three major schools of philosophy in Hinduism. The three major schools of philosophy in Hinduism are Vedanta, Sankhya, and Yoga. In this way, the path of knowledge is experienced. Jnana Marga is knowledge of a very special sort, amounting to extraordinary insight that is far beyond merely knowing about the subject matter (Brodd 54). This practice of Vedanta is representative of the monism of Hinduism. This means that (a)ll reality is essentially one... (Brodd 55). This can be a difficult idea to understand because Vedanta impresses the notion that the persistent sense of individuality prevents us from actually experiencing the truth (Brodd 55). The example of a drop of water is used to explain this concept best. It can be thought that a drop of water is separate from the vast ocean but once this small drop of water is contained in the ocean, there is no way to distinguish it from the other drops of water. Likewise, we have an illusion of separate identity but are one. The ultimate goal is to experience this truth and then the path of knowledge will have been fully met; this is known as Brahman. That which is distracting and serves as the illusion is called Maya. Next, Sankhya differs from Vedanta because it asserts that reality is composed of two distinct categories: matter, and an infinite number of eternal selves (Brodd 56). Somehow, the multitudes of selves become tangled with matter and when this occurs they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, all of the rates were fairly similar no matter the concentration, except for the test with 0% concentration. That test resulted in no production of Oxygen because there was no enzyme for the Hydrogen peroxide to react to so nothing occurred in the testing container (see Fig. 1). In Fig. 2, you can see that all of the concentrations, aside from 0% concentration all produced very similar amounts of Oxygen even though there was not as much of the enzyme in the tests that we added water to in order to change the concentration. However, the results of our experiment did not support this. Like explained before, the test that resulted in the highest rate was the one with 50% concentration. It is unknown why this occurred. The sources provided in class, a graph, showed that there should be linear growth between concentration and rate, which supports our hypothesis. The largest slice of Australia s exports go to China, exporting around 31.6% of its total exports, making China Australia s biggest benefactor to its economy (DFAT). Although the exports mainly consist of the titanic amount of minerals that Australia mines, China also imports large quantities of wool, another heavily traded commodity of Australia. One of the leading wool industries, the Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) has said it is easier to sell fine wool for clothes to China than to traditional recession hit markets in Europe (The Economist Hitched to the China Wagon). The exportation of wool in conjunction with the exportation of minerals and ore to China makes China a strong partner with Australia when it comes to resource trading. China obviously is dependent on Australia s exportations, making Australia s relations with China a strength of the overall Australian economy. The Australian economy however, is clearly just as dependent on China s demand for such commodities. Although Australia greatly benefits from China s demand in its exports, Australia needs to make sure the trade relations between them don t act as a crutch for the Australian economy. Recent studies and articles predict China s demand for Australian goods will be shifting leftward in the near future, possibly impacting Australia s economy, and putting it into a recession. • 35. The Worst Mistake In The History Of The Human Race Summary Jared Diamond, in his article, The Worst Mistake in the History of the Human race , explains that the worst mistake that humans made was the decision to change from a hunter gatherer society into an agriculture society. Jared Diamond gives evidence of how switching from an agricultural society was a bad mistake. Many believe that adopting an agricultural society and leaving the hunter gatherer society was the way to a more qualitative and sustainable lifestyle. As Diamond says, it is true that because this society was adopted and evolved because we have longer lifespans and live better now than how people lived back in the old days. But Diamond`s claim that the hunter gatherer society gave humans more benefits individually than what the agricultural society had to offer is agreeable. Diamond claims that hunters and gathers received more protein and a better nutrient balance than what farmers received. He gives an example of a hunter gather group such as the Kalahari Bushmen to enforce this argument. This group lives off the hunters gathers methods in the twentieth century. Even by being hunters and gatherers, they can still provide for themselves. In the article, a study shows that hunters and gathers are self sufficient and get the food they need. A Bushmen takes in 2,140 calories and 93 grams of protein. Diamond says this is more than the recommended allowance for people of their size. Hunters and gatherers eat variety as they live off what the Earth has to offer while on the other hand, farmers live off the non diversified plants they grow. He then also indirectly mentions risk of agriculture by mentioning the potato famine which was a time of starvation for the Irish. There are also many risks and disadvantages of agriculture. Whenever these disadvantages come into effect, the consequences could be major. In some cases, things can get as bad as the potato famine. Farmers are always reliant on the crops for their source of food. Many factors could interfere with the production of food such as a natural disaster, weather, soil erosion, and the timing and season when to plant crops. If one factor occurred, it could possibly fatally ruin many of the crops which would make many starve. In agricultural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
