My Virtual Child Experience
The virtual child stimulation is an online program that offers students a feel of what it is like to
raise a child and make parenting decisions concerning that child. Students also learn about the
situations that occur in the three main life stages, and see how their decisions determine how their
child will turn out. The focus of this assignment will be on my virtual child, Jason, the problems
that occurred in the life stages, and the options I chose when raising Jason.
In the Infant/Toddler stage, an incident occurred while we were visiting a relative who owned a
pool. I tried to keep an eye on Jason, but got distracted. I heard a splash, and ran outside to the
pool to find Jason sinking below the surface. I grabbed him and pulled him to safety. I checked to
see if he had swallowed any water, dried him off with a towel, and calmed him down.
After this incident, I was presented with three options. The first option was to speak firmly to
him about staying away from pools so it would make a big impression. The second option was to
resolve to having Jason wear a safety vest whenever he is around pools. The third option was to
decide to enroll Jason in toddler swimming lessons, which emphasize safety, holding your breath,
swimming to the edge of the pool, and holding on. I chose the third option. I felt it necessary to
sign him up for toddler swimming lessons. Studies show that registering your child in a swimming
class to learn how to swim helps reduces the risk of childhood

Introduction to Ireland
The country of Ireland s national symbol is the harp; this can be seen on flags throughout the
country as well as on the presidential seal. The national flag is green, orange and white, each
color has a different meaning, the green is for the older Gaelic tradition or Roman Catholic, the
orange is for the Protestant majority and the white is a symbol to show how the two different
religions co exist in peace. The National Anthem of the country is the Soldiers Song and consists of
three verses and a chorus, generally you will only hear the chorus being sung, this is not the song

Mary Shelley s Modern Prometheus
Frankenstein was Mary Shelley s modern Prometheus, a literary form of the forbidden flame
bestowed upon the human race the science of electricity. Yet, the story of Victor Frankenstein s
creature is not one strictly of science, or of a caution against it, or of a vendetta against the popular
Calvinist belief of predestination. What Victor Frankenstein, and Mary Shelley, created for the
world was a story of how far a man dared go with the forbidden flame greater natural knowledge
that was spreading amongst mankind. The unique blend of scienceto create a monster so akin to the
undead vampire or spirits created a new form of supernatural, the kind of supernatural that was
manmade. Frankenstein, with its meeting of the modern Prometheus and the leading strict
Calvinist faith, created such controversy, which led Shelley to vastly revise the work in a second
edition; the novel stood as a stepping stone into and out of the Romantic works, with intensity of
emotion and the new aesthetic of the sublime, but the continuing message of Mary Shelley s work
not of the dangers of man overcoming God maintained the difference between what could be done
and what should be done, in the most cautionary way.
In some ways, Frankenstein offers the reader an overt theme of caution don t attempt to equal
nature s, or God s, power which was hardly accepted at the time of publication; however, this
reflection, and combination, of religion and science became continual controversy linked

Analysis Of Robert Frost s White
In 1922, Robert Frost wrote the poem In White. Frost then revised this poem fourteen years later
and published it under the title Design. On the surface, the speaker in the poem describes a
situation in which a spider has killed a moth on a heal all flower. But, as the layers are peeled
back, there arises a conflict between the speaker and him/herself. The internal conflict stems
from the world s design or lack thereof. Frost takes a simple thought on design and makes the
reader question life and the nature of creation through a random, haphazard occurrence of a
spider, a moth, and a flower. To start the poem, the speaker stumbles upon a fat and white spider
on a white heal all, holding up a moth (1 2). This doesn t tell the full story, but it does show the
reader that there is a random occurrence between a spider, a moth, and a flower. As shown in
the legend, a heal all flower is usually blue but in this case it is white. The spider, which is
generally dark colored, is white as well. And the moth that is in the spider s hands is like a white
piece of rigid satin cloth . (3) A rigid, satin cloth symbolizes a coffin which shows that the moth
in the spider s arms is dead. After the first three lines there are two conclusions to be made: (1)
There is a random occurrence of a rare, white spider climbing on a rare, white heal all flower; (2)
The spider represents darkness and evil. It is using the flower as camouflage to kill the moth.
Finally, showing the characters

Laura Hillenbrand Unbroken Quotes
I ve always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come, said Michael Jordan. Laura
Hillenbrand s Unbroken was about a boy named Louie Zamperini. He started off as a troubled
young child, but in his teen years Louies brother Pete helped him find a love for running. He had
dreams of being an olympic runner, but his hopes and dreams were crushed when he got drafted
into WWII, and eventually got lost at sea and captured by enemy forces. When Louie loses he
decides he will suffer through the hard training to get the redemption that he needs. Louie will
push him and his body past its limits to get what he wants. A lifetime of glory is worth a moment
of pain, said Louie (Hillenbrand 35). This quote shows that Louie was willing

Negative Effects Of Television Violence On Society
Television Violence
Television violence has a negative effect on society. Violence is everywhere on television. A
question people ask often does violence on television has negative influence on society. Majority of
people believe that violence on television does have negative influences on society. Television
violence has a negative effect on society because it can influence to become violent and take
drugs in the future. Scientist has also tested and proven that television violence has negative
influence on society. Television has many shows with violence with it like Power ranger,
Criminal Mind, and The Walking Dead. In the show The Walking Dead is a show where a group
of people try to survive in a zombie apocalypse and have to use guns to shoot down the zombies.
A child mind is easily molded easily, so when a child sees violence on a television show they can
learn to do violent actions in the future. An example of this is when a child watches a show with
a lot of fighting in it. Shows with a lot of fighting in it are Power rangers and The kids next store.
Most children mimic what happens on television and start learning violent actions. This can lead
to the child to think that violence is tolerable and start to do more violence actions in the future.
Later when they become adult they are more likely to use violence to solve their problems. An
example of this happening is when an adult is teased and start a fight with someone. Not all
shows have violence in them, Dora the explora and Curious George are shows that are
educational. In Dora the explora a girl with her monkey friend go on adventure and have to use
problem solving to get to their destination. Scientists like Leonard Eron have tested that
television does have a negative effect on society. The study of human behavior is Anthropologist
and archeologist. The scientist tested if television had a negative effect on society. They tested
this by having parent volunteer their child to watch several type of shows. The children were
separated into two group, group A and group B. Group A were shown violent shows and group B
was shown educational shows. Eight years after the test children from group A were more likely to
be more aggressive and do

The Crime Types Of Crime In Criminological Crimes
To explain the crime type of sexual offences, it is important to decipher how crime is made sense
of, specifically exploring the definitions and attitudes to sexual offences. Exploring the crime
throughout history and during the present day, so called, epidemic of sexual offences; laws, trends
and attitudes will allow concepts to form as to how these views to sexual offences have impacted
on theories with in criminological knowledge.
Definitions
Crime is defined in the oxford dictionary as An action or omission which constitutes an offence
and is punishable by law. Criminologists look at change within the law, media reactions and
statistical trend; to create theoretical views and concepts to explain crime and the criminal mind.
A sexual offence is defined in the oxford dictionary as The action or an act of forcing an
unconsenting person to engage in sexual activity; a rape; (Law) a crime involving forced sexual
contact, variously defined as inclusive or exclusive of rape. Actual definitions are important in
the understanding of a specific crime type and are regularly updated, especially when it comes to
consent; through history, what acts as consent has been contested. Consent as of 2003 has been
defined in section 74 of the sexual offences act (2003) if he agrees by choice, and has the freedom
and capacity to make that choice (CPS, 2017). This means that consent may be implied, but can be
withdrawn at any point. A sexual offence occurs if a sexual act occurs on the

Essay On American Antisemitism
Racism is over. This is the defense of many white citizens of both Europe and America when
they re called racist, or something is called thus. This is unfortunately heavily untrue for many
reasons, from the cultural appropriation by celebrities of Native and Black cultures, to the
standards of beauty fair skin, aryan features. This is only dealing with part of the problem,
however, and an issue that is often overlooked is the rampant Antisemitism in major European
countries, and even in America. From vandalism, to Russian military intervention, to the current
situation in Ukraine, Europe is far from ridding itself of conflict based on racial bias and greed.
Most white Americans and Europeans of today like to pretend that since WWII, we ve gotten
past our prejudiced, anti semitic ways. Sadly, in most of the world, this isn t the case. There are
still attacks and vandalism, and fairly often depending on where you re looking. Greek was
recently revealed to be the most anti semitic country in Europe, with 69 percent of Greeks
espousing anti Semitic views, according to the survey, Greece was on par with Saudi Arabia, more
anti Semitic than Iran... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Coral Reef Pollution
The ocean full of life and undiscovered wonders is changing from a diverse biom(define)e to a
polluted landscape(change). These changes can be seen through the coral reefs that reside mostly
on shores. Through the window provided by the diverse biome of coral reefs we can see how the
ocean reacts to the changes being sustained(change). Humans play a major part in the growth of the
coral reef(change). The pollutionwe make from the gases, chemicals, and tools we use end up in
the ocean especially effecting reefs as they are located near shores(rewrite). With the ever
increasing temperatures due to global warming the coralreef biomes are becoming
unstable(rewrite). The increasing acidification of the ocean is a ticking bomb for coral
reefs(change). I will be looking at the effects these issues have on both coral reef biomes and the
ocean, as I believe through coral reef biomes we can both see the health of the ocean and the
effectiveness of solutions are to reduce the current issues plaguing the ocean.(change)
Human introduction into the ocean and reefs causes overfishing. The increasing cause of sound
pollution by humans is drowning out the oceans natural sounds. The litter left behind equally
effects both coral and the ocean.
Overfishing by humans effects the health of the targeted species will also destroying the natural
order of the area. According to the National Ocean Service (NOAR) the effects of overfishing on

Cappella Chigi Essay
Beyond fiction, Into the Depths of Cappella Chigi
There isn t a specific year in history that could be pinpointed and said, This is when the
Renaissance started. The period of rebirth of the classic ideas is what we, more fondly and
famously identify as the period of Renaissance today. The European countries have been the central
station for this massively celebrated time of revival of knowledge either lost or forgotten. Italy
hosted the birth of the personalities, the present knows as the Renaissance Masters with Leonardo
Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli, Raphael, Fra Bartolomeo, Masaccio being some of the most
prominent figures. The period of Enlightenment that followed the Renaissance celebrated the ideas
revived in its preceding era. Rationalism, Individualism, Skepticism and so on were some of the
key features of this age, also called the Age of Reason. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

was appointed to design a mausoleum for the heirs of his family after being allowed to purchase
a chapel in del Popolo by Pope Julius II. Raphael was a man with works like the series of
Madonnas and School of Athens to his name. Chigi Chapel started forming under the supervision

A Article On Condemn The Crime, Not The Person
In her article, Condemn the Crime, Not the Person, June Tangney argues that shaming causes more
harm than good. She focuses on alternatives to traditional sentences instead of shaming and
incarceration. As a more recent trend, officials are using shaming sentences more and more.
Tangney states that it is important to know the distinction between shameand guilt. Tangney states,
that research has shown feeling of guilt involve a sense of tension and regret over the bad thing
done. Guilt makes people feel bad. It makes them want to change their behaviorwhereas shame
does not motivate people to feel better and they are less likely to stop their wrong behavior
(577). She also states that scientific evidence suggested publicly shaming a person makes a
problem instead of creating a constructive change in them and individuals may hide and escape
the shameful feelings and try to blame others (577). In conclusion, Tangney suggest community
service as a sentence for offenders to pay their debt to society for their wrongdoing, been linked
to the crime they did. Her tone is informative and innovative and keeps the reader interested while
reading. However, this article displays weakness in term of the evidence the author presents, it is
one sided and does not provide evidence her suggestion for community service as a sentence option
works. Therefore, it fails to persuade the reader. Tangney s essay suggested that all minor crimes
should be handled with guilt punishments;

A Hero Is A Hero
What if you were trapped in a burning building with nobody to come and save you? People need
heroes. Whether you are being robbed or your house is on fire, you need a hero. There is a
reason that heroes are so liked, needed, and wanted in our modern world. It s because heroes
instill order where there is chaos by having the kindness to do something that s right, like stand up
to a bully, but also by having the kindness to do something like rescue a cat from a tree.
The first thing that anybody needs when trying to be a hero is courage to do something right. A
hero has to have the courage to do something that is right no matter how hard or how big the task
really is. The man in the water is a good example of this because Lenny Skutnik didn t hesitate
for a split second about jumping into the water to save that lady and the man that was in the
water didn t hesitate about passing on the life preserver. It s something I never thought I would
do referring to his jumping into the water to drag an injured woman to shore... somebody had to
go in the water (pg 12 Man in the Water). He jumped in the water to save someone because he
knew that it was the right thing to do and he had the courage to do it. Every time they lowered a
lifeline and floating ring to him he passed it on to another of the passengers. (pg 12 Man in the
Water). The man in the water also had the courage to do what was right because even though he
knew he would probably die, he wanted the others to live which takes a tremendous amount of
courage. Whale Tale is also a good example for this because Michael Fishbach risked everything,
life and boat, to help a humpback whale. He swam into the water with the humpback whale that
was tangled up in the net knowing all to well that he could die from one frantic movement and
that is the courage that makes him a hero, he also was cutting the net off of the whale and had to
let it tow him around knowing that it could tip over the boat in an instant and that is why he is
recognized as a hero and that is because he had the courage to do something right while knowing
that he and his crew could have died. In order to believe in yourself as a hero and in order to be
recognized as a hero you have to

International performance
Resources and capabilities
The two main independent variables that have to be included in the conceptual model are the
management board and the resources and capabilities of the company. It has been discussed in the
literature that two of the four factors that influence the performance of businesses in their
internationalization process are the management level and the control of resource capacity (Zeng,
Tam, Wan, 2009). A distinction between resources and capabilities must be made: resources are
the productive assets of the firm, while the capabilities are what the firm can do. It is the
management board that decides upon the acquisition, development, usage and control of resources
and the development of capabilities. Managers will select a set of resources from those available to
the firm that they believe are responsible for achieving their vision of the business, which will
result in the desired sustained competitive advantage of the company (Kunc, Morecroft, 2010).
Furthermore, the board will have to decide on other matters as well, which can alter the
international performance of the company, whether it be positive or negative.
Background
In the next sections we will elaborate further on the links described in the conceptual framework.
An extensive review of the literature on these subjects will be given, which will be used to support

The Central Park Five Summary
The documentary we had to watch for this week s discussion called The Central Park Five
directed by Ken Burns was eye opening. The movie was about five black and Latino teenagers
aged 14 to 16 of being falsely convicted of attacking and raping a 28 year old white woman in
the central park, New York in 1989. There was lots of miscarriage of justice that occurred in this
movie that caught me by surprise and disappointment me. If this was a woman from Harlem or
another poor city, this would not have been such a big case. In the movie, they talk about the
woman being raped and thrown off the balcony and no one had any issue with that. It was not even
public headlines in most newspapers, not fair how some stories get more popularity over others....

They lied to the 5 teens saying, the other in the group is telling them they did the crime and if
they admit it they can walk out a free man. Manipulating and pressuring the teens to do
something or say something they want to hear is a terrible persona. That is a tough situation for
a teen to be in; they are not used to being locked up for days and being interrogated by the police.
In their head, they thought the only way to get out was by saying something the prosecutor and
detective wanted to hear, which untimely ended up hurting them the most in the trial. I was
disappointed in the fact that the teens were convicted before the trail, I feel as once they walked
into the police department the law enforcement team knew they were going to pin this crime on
the teens by any means. This would have been easy for the public to believe because of the color
of their skin and easy to see them as violent

Pathogens Affecting The American Honey Bee
Fungi are pathogens considered to have a serious impact on honey bees health and mortality by
causing diseases. Nosemosis is one of the most dangerous diseases affecting the adult honey bee by
infecting epithelial cells coating the midgut. This disease is caused by Nosema apis and Nosema
ceranae which are intracellular microsporidian parasites from genus of Nosema. Studies point out
that transportation of honey bees, infected beekeepingmaterials, and practices of some beekeeping
migration are factors of Nosema s distribution. In addition, it has been demonstrated that some
vectors may carry Nosema spores. For example, it has been found that the regurgitated pellets of
the migratory bee eating bird Merops apiaster contained infective Nosema spores.... Show more

Relevant Economic Trends With the exception of supercenters such as Costco and BJ s, the
fastest growing portion of the overall retail industry in the United States during the past decade
has been in the dollar store segment. From 2000 2005 dollar stores had a compound annual
growth rate (CAGR) of 10.2% which was nearly double the 5.6% CAGR in the retail industry as
a whole. Sales from these discount stores were $24.7 billion in 2000 and were expected to more
than double to $51.1 billion in 2009 (Exhibit 8). Two main drivers fueled this growth trend. The
first was a cultural shift in consumers towards a bargain based mentality. This was spurred by an

They emphasize the use of even dollar prices on most items to conveniently make it easy for
customers to track how much they are spending before they get to the checkout line. This
coupled with their focused assortment of quality goods allows easy in and out shopping and
saves the customer time. DG competes against big box retailers such as Wal Mart through price
and convenience rather than price and selection. The average DG store is 6,900 square feet with
about 4,900 stock keeping units (SKUs) serving customers who live within five miles of the
store. The average Wal Mart on the other hand is over 100,000 square feet containing more than
75,000 SKUs and serves many customers living more than five miles away. Strategically limiting
the number of brands and sizes as well as purchasing fast turning SKUs gives DG the leverage to
negotiate low purchase prices when bargaining with suppliers based on the higher volume of
individual SKUs being purchased. This allows them to offer competitive prices while achieving
price parity with big box retailers selling the same items and on occasion even beating these
competitor s prices. Focusing on both price and convenience also allows DG to compete and
differentiate themselves from other small convenience, discount, and drugstore retailers who
typically focus on either price or convenience but

Evolution Of Public Administration Approaches
Evolution of Public Administration Approaches
The roots of public administration can be traced back to 400 B.C. when Plato developed the
concept of democracy, but more recently, economist Fredric W. Taylor in early 1900s developed
the need for budgets, cooperation between labor and management in order to become more
effective (Gueguen, 2002). His concepts of scientific management, also known as Taylorism,
promoted job optimization and simplification in order to increase productivity. These scientific
management principles were further explored by German sociologist, philosopher, political
economist Max Weber. Weber advocated various concepts such as the development of standardized
procedures with a clear chain of command. He developed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Other than hierarchy and meritocracy (Robinson, 2015), the old public administration had many
unique features. Those features included a centralized control with set rules and guidelines,
separating policymaking from implementation, and employed a categorized organizational
arrangement (Osborne, 2006). Few other central features of this model were, the separation
between politics and politicians on one hand and administration and administrators on the other,
resources belong to the organization, not to the individuals who work in it and limited public
involvement with administrators responsible to democratically elected political leaders (Denhardt
Denhardt, 2015).
Old public administration played an important role in managing budgets and human resources in
an organization by targeting efficiency and effectiveness. These goals were achieved by first
defining specialized roles within organizations. These roles were then filled by qualified people
who were recruited based on merits. People were hired only if they meet all the required
qualifications for the job. The dominance of old public administration theory is still visible in
today s recruitment and hiring process. Whenever a new job opening is posted on Alameda
County s website, there is always a section specifying a list of qualifications. Applicants must meet
those qualifications in order to qualify for the interview. Every role in the organization was clearly

Cesar Chavez Struggle In The Fields Analysis
SSCI 100 Assignment #2
The Struggle in the Fields has always been a controversial issue. In the PBS series, we get to learn
how many obstacles came along, when many Filipino farm workers along with Mexican American
workers began to demand a change in the fields.
The struggle in the fields was a movement that was primarily started as a strike in 1965 by Filipino
farm workers in Coachella, California than it was led by Cesar Chavez throughout the central valley,
they demanded better working conditions from the Growers. Many Mexican American farm
workers in Delano, California started to walk off the fields, refusing to pick grapes until the
demands they had were heard. The workers were tired of inhuman treatment and the poor working
conditions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their faith allowed them to feel stronger when the movement was taking place, it allowed them
to fight in several different ways. The movement was already in the fifth month and they had not
seen any type of change, this was when Cesar Chavez decided to start a peregrinacion to
Sacramento. His goal was to recruit or inspire as many people so they could join the movement
and have a louder voice. This brought an opportunity to take their voices all around the San
Joaquin valley, they saw the valley as a place that had been full of limitations for them and the
peregrinacion made the limitations disappear, they were able to surpass those walls, and as they
walked throughout many towns more and more people became sympathetic to their cause and
joined them on this journey. When they were on the peregrinacion their mornings began with the
faith they had held they went to mass, after they would begin to walk to the next town,
following a sacred image of La Virgen de Guadalupe it gave them hope. His nonviolence policy
also had a lot to give to the movement, as years pass many of the farm workers became frustrated
at the fact that they had not seen any changes, they began to talk about using violence against the
growers, this was when Cesar Chavez began to worry about the things they could do, and he took
matters into his own hands. In 1968 he started a

Cell Phones And Technology Essay
In 1973 the world s first cellphone was made. Although the first phone is not anything compared
to the latest iphone, it was a huge step back then. When the first mobile phone was made, it was
hardly portable and allowed very little talk time. Now phones are smaller than the average
human hand and you can talk however long you would like (as long as you have a charger). At
first look, the invention of the cell phone can be seen as a huge technological achievement,
however once people open their eyes they see how sad it truly is. So many people have lost
touch with true communication and the people around them. Even though technology shouldn t
be as involved in our lives as it is, people still see it as an essential to their everyday lives and
they are constantly using it. Over the past decade there has been an increase in the purchases of
cell phones. As the company s improve the technology, people have started to desire them more.
Technology is no longer just a way to communicate with others, but it is now a way of
entertainment. People can now play games and watch movies on their phones . Cell phones help
people with work . You can look at emails, there are calculators, and dictionaries. Technology has
also helped people make relationships, whether that is a good thing or bad thing is still
undetermined. The popularity of cell phones has increased so much that children now have them

I found the film of the lecture given by Naomi Wolf to be exceptionally interesting and thought
provoking. The beginning of her discussion surrounding the topic of beauty and the reason
women are seemingly so obsessed with it was presented in a way that I have never considered
myself. The idea that the media and culture surrounding women is one of a purposeful
preoccupation with beauty and the conceived notions of what that means is very striking. To
continue the discussion about her idea surrounding women and girls and their preoccupation with
beauty standards it is easy to segue the conversation into the dangers of this preoccupation. The
numerous repercussions of this preoccupation with unrealistic beauty standards is manifested in
both physical and mental effects. One of the effects that was discussed to a large extent is eating
disorders, which affects both the physical and mental aspects of a woman s (or man s) well
being. The effects of eating disorders, in particular anorexia which is categorized by restrictive
and obsessive eating behaviors, can be catastrophic. As Naomi Wolf discussed in a person story
about her own eating disorder... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was obvious to me just watching the film and the shots of the crowd, especially at moments of
interaction, that these unrealistic standards of beauty to one extent or another have an effect on
women from all walks of life. Speaking in the realm of the United States alone it is possible to
say that any woman is who is continuously exposed to mass media, especially from an early age,
will be in one way or another affected by this beauty myth . To what extent the effect is I believe
does vary between ethnicities. This ideal beauty is often portrayed as overwhelmingly blonde and
caucasian so I could see how this would cause even more of a negative impact among women of
color than on white

Binge watching is a popular term to describe how consumers interact with the service (Jenner,
2016). This is due to how Netflix has differentiated itself from its competitors, especially early
on. Netflix was at the forefront of internet content streaming. The service allows viewers to watch
high quality content whenever and wherever they want. This was a huge change from before
when consumers had to subscribe to content channels such as HBO or Showtime through their
cable provider and wait for a show they like to come on. Netflix s competitors are Hulu and
Amazon Prime, but Netflix is the clear leader in the content streaming market. The iPhone 7+
targets its market by offering a top of the line smart phone that is equipped with an efficient
operating system. Their main competitor in the market is Samsung. Apple has not done much in
recent years to compete with Samsung, even purchasing Samsung displays for their upcoming
iPhone 8. However, in comparison to other competitors, the iPhone 7+ positions itself by offering
one of the best cameras, stereo quality speakers, and an HD display. Edushape s Marublous
Marble Run is more of a niche product. The product s overall design is unique and that alone
differentiates itself in the toy market. However, the product s design does not aid in its positioning.
The marble run competes with many other building toys such as Legos. The toy industry

The Metabolism Movement
The Metabolism movement is known as a modern architecture movement, which emerged from
japan. The movement had its blooming start during the World Design Congress held at Tokyo in
1960, when a group of young architects and designers, who called themselves Metabolists,
presented their radical and visionary proposals of urban and architectural schemes. Among the
schemes that were presented were the Marine city and the Towershape city by Kiyonori Kikutake.
This presentation introduced the motabolist movement to the audience. The main members of the
movement were architects Kiyonori Kikutake, Masato Otaka, Fumihiko Maki, Noriaki Kurokawa,
the architectural critic Noboru Kawazoe. And Kenzo Tange who is recognized as the mentor of
these Metabolists. The architects involved envisioned the ideal city, and planned experimental
architecture and cities that are adaptable to change they developed flexible buildings, houses that
could expand or shrink according to demand, cities that were sustainable, with buildings made of
recyclable materials. All of this visions and views were arose as a response to reconstruct japan
after the human and environmental disaster that followed the atomic bombing of Japan during the
World War II.

Moral Story Of Cinderella
Many times, people dream of being the protagonists of a Disney movie and thus live in a fantasy
world where they are happy forever. It is easy to create the illusion that in the world of princesses
everything is perfect and beautiful. In fact, behind these stories hides a reproduction of the purest
and harsh truth of the real life in which we live, where events they are not isolated, and they all
have a direct impact on people s lives and change them either positively or negatively. So, are these
fairy tales true stories of happiness?
The film Cinderella tells the story of a lovely girl with a very pure heart who had everything in life.
She was pleased, had a beautiful family, a house, and goods, and most importantly, much love.
Although her family possessed some riches, she was raised in an environment of kindness,
kindness, compassion, and love for the animals she considered her friends, especially the little
mice. When his mother dies, her father marries a kind woman with two daughters and a cat, or at
least that was what he thought about his new wife, whom Cinderella warmly receives at home.
Cinderella s stepmother pretended all along to be an adorable housewife capable not only of being
a good mother to her own daughters but to the daughter of her husband. Everything changes the day
Cinderella s father passed away. From that moment, the girl begins to be a victim of abuse,
mistreatment, and humiliations of her evil stepmother and her spoiled and jealous stepsisters.

A major issue when treating alcoholism is the likelihood of relapse. A lack of social support may
contribute to an increased likelihood of relapse, while maintaining positive social support can
decrease this risk. One study discussed the possibility of social interaction influencing relapse

animals that had been previously exposed to ethanolshow increased consumption after a period of

The Influence Of Nationalism In Canada
Each nation state controls its own governing policies; even so, nationalism is a concept that
cannot be severed from politics. To be concise, nationalism is described as the feelings people
have when identifying with their nation. It has the ability to impact a country s social, political,
and economic conditions. Incidentally, nationalism should be perceived as a negative force due
to the amount of tragedies it has generated throughout the course of history. It s remarkable
influence has left many collective groups feeling isolated or mistreated. Nationalism first
emerged in the 18th century, during the early days of the French Revolution. Prior to this, France
was under the reign of an absolute monarch known as King Louis XVI. The king had no respect
for his subjects, and believed that he alone constructed France s identity. However, civilians
disagreed; fed up with the feudal system which only benefited the noble class and the clergy, the
middle class whispered ideas of change. These progressive ideas were not welcomed in medieval
times, as plotting against your monarch was viewed as treason. Nationalism only seemed to
encourage this thought process, as soon Louis... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

World order are the activities and relationship between the world states, and other significant non

Under the UN Charter, the Security Council has primary responsibility for the maintenance of
international peace and security and is argued to have power to intervene in the most serious issues
which disrupt world order.
At the end of the 1990 91 Gulf War, the Security Council passed Resolution 687, which set out the
terms that Iraq s leader Suddam Hussein was to comply with. The resolution required the
destruction of all chemical and biological weapons, and ballistic missiles with a range greater than

Essay on Why William Won the Battle of Hastings
Why William Won the Battle of Hastings
The Battle of Hastings in 1066 saw Harold the king of England defeated by William, Duke of
Normandy. It was a great victory for William, he became King of England and was called William
the Conqueror. There were many reasons for William s victory such as religious support, a well
prepared army, weather, more effective weapons and most importantly superior tactics. Another
important factor, which occurs in most battles in history, is that of luck. Throughout the battle it
seemed that William was more fortunate than Harold. As much as William earned victory, Harold
made some bad judgments and serious tactical mistakes.

This meant they were organized and knew what to do when the time came to set sail for
England. Everything was perfect for William except for the strong winds from the north meant
it was not possible for his fleet to cross the Channel. He and his men were so desperate that they
even prayed for a south wind. God or luck was on their side as after a thunderstorm the winds
changed to a more favourable southerly direction and they seized the opportunity and set sail.
Whilst sailing to England William s fleet got caught in a storm and they had to stop at the
Somme estuary. This should have a disaster for William but luck was on his side, as this way the
crossing to England was shorter and when he was finally able to cross, Harold was in the north of
England.
William s landing was well planned and helped by intelligence gathered in the previous months by
Normans living in England. He had studied Caesar s invasion in 55 BC and was not going to
make the same mistakes that he did. For example Caesar did not take the weather over the Channel
into consideration and beached his boats in the wrong place, getting them damaged. Williams s
decision to land at Pevensey, a lagoon west of Hastings with very few people there, was important.
The lagoon provided shelter from the weather and when the

The Criminal Justice System has evolved during the 21st century, especially when it comes to the

Wildlife Protection And Commercial Interests
Introduction
Throughout history, the battle between conserving the wildlife around us and the need for
commercial interests has led to many arguments. Wildlife protection refers to the practice of wild
plant and animal species and their habitats. A commercial interest encompasses a company with
the purpose of expanding or producing goods or services that are to be consumed by customers.
When the road to expansion first started, most people did not worry about cutting down a tree to
build a home or railroad. Now, however, the argument over what is moral and what is necessary
has led to the question of whether or not a wild animal should be protected or their habitat cut
down in order to make more room for housing or oil pipelines or other man made things. In this
paper, I will be presenting alternative positions on the topic of the differing priorities of wildlife
protection and commercial interests.
Perspective 1: Pro Wildlife Protection A conservationist is someone who advocates or acts for the
protection and preservation of the environment and wildlife. This particular group of people would
argue that protecting the existing wildlife is more important than other commercial interests.
To begin, conservationists would argue that wildlife has already deteriorated so much and so
people must conserve natural habitats for future generations of both people and animals to enjoy.

Caterpillar maintained an inventory ratio of 4.52 in 2014, 4.41 in 2013, and 4.24 in 2012.
Therefore, they were able to use inventory on hand, approximately four times within a year.
(Quotes Info Yahoo! Finance, n.d.). The competitors of Caterpillar, Terex and Parker Hannifin, had
an improved inventory turnover ratio. Terex carried a ratio of five, while Parker Hannifin utilized
a ratio of 9.63. Terex slightly edged out Caterpillar in the inventory turnover area, while Parker
Hannifin doubled the ratio of Caterpillar and fell short of doubling Terex. (Quotes Info Yahoo!

The Effects Of Sleep On Sleep Pattern
Everyone knows sleep is important. But what most people don t know is that if you do not have
a healthy sleep pattern, you do not get the proper benefits. Your sleep pattern is your daily
rhythms of sleeping and waking. It is best to try and keep a consistent bedtime and wake up
time. Signs that you are experiencing a disruptive sleep pattern are difficulty falling asleep,
frequent awakenings during the night, and/or waking too early. For example, I know I have a
disruptive sleep schedule because I cannot stay asleep and I wake too early. Falling asleep is
easy for me, but I always awaken somewhere between 1 and 4. Sometimes I can fall back asleep
within 10 20 minutes, but other nights I am up for hours. Because of this more often than not I
am awake before my alarm. Impaired sleep can cause a lot of side effects, which I will explain in
the next paragraph. There is an abundance of things that can impair your sleep, many of which can
be easily avoided. For instance, today s society is completely overrun by technology. Almost
everything can be done via computer, smartphone or tablet. Thus, we are constantly using them.
Studies show that the use of technology can significantly impair your ability to sleep. Experts say
you should stop using technology at least 2 hours before bed, yet the majority of people bring their
phones to bed with them. This causes many people to become over stimulated, causing sleep
problems. Other things that can impair your quality of sleep are

The Importance Of Criminal Punishment
Criminal punishments have been a fragment of society for centuries, either to discipline individuals
or overpower political opposition. Different eras over time established numerous forms of
punishments for crimes. There is no morality or exceptional guarantee that punishment is a
substantial process of humane penalty besides political officials that believe that it is feasible. In
my opinion, punishmentis not a proper method of crimecontrol, however, some sanctions should be
attainable in current day living. Courtroom officials portray punishments as desirable methods of
crime control to distort community citizens perception, so they may trust that crimes are
decreasing. Criminal punishments are solely based on rehabilitation, criminal analysis, and
deterrence. Numerous theories of punishment have become inhumane because sometimes
individuals have been incarcerated for years for crimes that weren t even harsh.
Deterrence is designed to prevent reoccurring crime. Criminal justice is the study of nature, causes,
control, and prevention of criminal behavior, with the extent of individual and social factors. For
example, if a criminal has been burglarizing homes and only spends a short amount of time in jail,
then the judge requires for a higher sentence and now the criminal must think if they re freedom is
worth materialistic things. In 1910, Edmond Locard began his own crime laboratory and could
obtain location accompanied by two assistants in the making of

Analysis Of Saki s The Unrest Cure
This year in Funny Pages, I have learned a considerable amount about the art of Comedy. Some
of the stories we read were such classics as: Twelfth Night, The Lull, Handful of Dust, and the
Unrest Cure. Each of these stories are brilliant and amusing in its own ways. These stories also
have a likeness in the types of humorpracticed. There are several elements that seem to be repeated
throughout such as: satire, characters that represent the spirit of comedyor its enemy, and
In Saki s The Unrest Cure , we read about Mr. James P. Huddle and his extreme affection for
habit. We are initially introduced to Mr. Huddle on a train heading home, having a conversation
with his travelling companion about trivial and tiresome topics, such as flowers and measles.
Huddle is bemoaning the perpetual rut that both he and his sibling seem to be all too comfortable
existing in. After which his acquaintance suggests he try an Unrest Cure . Uninterested in both
Mr. Huddle and his conversation up until this point is Mr. Clovis, intrigued by the prospect of an

telegram sent by Mr. Clovis to Mr. Huddle, announcing that a Bishop will be staying at the Huddle

Body Fat Measurement Procedure
Part II: When I think of the body fat measurement procedure used in Part 1 I think buoyancy is
something closed to the same scientific research. Where is no device needed to figure out buoyancy
because it is scientific research. What buoyancy measure is the objects weight or know mass in
water. This is very important to know the process for buoyancy because of the costal shipping
industries. Ship builders need to use the scientific research in determining the buoyancy because is
it an essential tool for measurement of the shipping requirements. The standardized measurement of
determining buoyancy improves the measurement practices in the shipping industries as well in the

Why I Support For The Secdef
The unwritten rule when partaking in discussions professionally is to avoid matters that cover
religion and politics. Many people care very deeply about religion and/or politics, and many
factors have contributed to these passionate opinions. The bottom line is when talking about these
topics, focus and effort are diverted from what is most important in a professional environment. In
the military, the same dynamic can and has been observed in units across the country. The military
is a melting pot of culture, religion, and political opinions with individuals who care deeply about
them. Presidential campaigns summate most of these topics in one discussion. Most conversations
start with, Who do you support and why? . The why, is where most heated debates begin. Today,
more pressure than ever has been placed on service members to comment on presidential
campaigns. In addition, more avenues to comment are now available. In my paper, I will explain
why support for the SECDEF is crucial to help service members remain focused and the united
states military to function more effectively without political influence. Social media is something
almost every American citizen participates in, in today s society. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,
Tumblr, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Snapchat, and countless other examples of social media exist and in
each someone can communicate with the world if he or she pleases. For example, Facebook
currently has 1.71 billion users according to the second

  • 2. My Virtual Child Experience The virtual child stimulation is an online program that offers students a feel of what it is like to raise a child and make parenting decisions concerning that child. Students also learn about the situations that occur in the three main life stages, and see how their decisions determine how their child will turn out. The focus of this assignment will be on my virtual child, Jason, the problems that occurred in the life stages, and the options I chose when raising Jason. In the Infant/Toddler stage, an incident occurred while we were visiting a relative who owned a pool. I tried to keep an eye on Jason, but got distracted. I heard a splash, and ran outside to the pool to find Jason sinking below the surface. I grabbed him and pulled him to safety. I checked to see if he had swallowed any water, dried him off with a towel, and calmed him down. After this incident, I was presented with three options. The first option was to speak firmly to him about staying away from pools so it would make a big impression. The second option was to resolve to having Jason wear a safety vest whenever he is around pools. The third option was to decide to enroll Jason in toddler swimming lessons, which emphasize safety, holding your breath, swimming to the edge of the pool, and holding on. I chose the third option. I felt it necessary to sign him up for toddler swimming lessons. Studies show that registering your child in a swimming class to learn how to swim helps reduces the risk of childhood ... • 4. Mary Shelley s Modern Prometheus Frankenstein was Mary Shelley s modern Prometheus, a literary form of the forbidden flame bestowed upon the human race the science of electricity. Yet, the story of Victor Frankenstein s creature is not one strictly of science, or of a caution against it, or of a vendetta against the popular Calvinist belief of predestination. What Victor Frankenstein, and Mary Shelley, created for the world was a story of how far a man dared go with the forbidden flame greater natural knowledge that was spreading amongst mankind. The unique blend of scienceto create a monster so akin to the undead vampire or spirits created a new form of supernatural, the kind of supernatural that was manmade. Frankenstein, with its meeting of the modern Prometheus and the leading strict Calvinist faith, created such controversy, which led Shelley to vastly revise the work in a second edition; the novel stood as a stepping stone into and out of the Romantic works, with intensity of emotion and the new aesthetic of the sublime, but the continuing message of Mary Shelley s work not of the dangers of man overcoming God maintained the difference between what could be done and what should be done, in the most cautionary way. In some ways, Frankenstein offers the reader an overt theme of caution don t attempt to equal nature s, or God s, power which was hardly accepted at the time of publication; however, this reflection, and combination, of religion and science became continual controversy linked ... • 5. Analysis Of Robert Frost s White In 1922, Robert Frost wrote the poem In White. Frost then revised this poem fourteen years later and published it under the title Design. On the surface, the speaker in the poem describes a situation in which a spider has killed a moth on a heal all flower. But, as the layers are peeled back, there arises a conflict between the speaker and him/herself. The internal conflict stems from the world s design or lack thereof. Frost takes a simple thought on design and makes the reader question life and the nature of creation through a random, haphazard occurrence of a spider, a moth, and a flower. To start the poem, the speaker stumbles upon a fat and white spider on a white heal all, holding up a moth (1 2). This doesn t tell the full story, but it does show the reader that there is a random occurrence between a spider, a moth, and a flower. As shown in the legend, a heal all flower is usually blue but in this case it is white. The spider, which is generally dark colored, is white as well. And the moth that is in the spider s hands is like a white piece of rigid satin cloth . (3) A rigid, satin cloth symbolizes a coffin which shows that the moth in the spider s arms is dead. After the first three lines there are two conclusions to be made: (1) There is a random occurrence of a rare, white spider climbing on a rare, white heal all flower; (2) The spider represents darkness and evil. It is using the flower as camouflage to kill the moth. Finally, showing the characters ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Negative Effects Of Television Violence On Society Television Violence Television violence has a negative effect on society. Violence is everywhere on television. A question people ask often does violence on television has negative influence on society. Majority of people believe that violence on television does have negative influences on society. Television violence has a negative effect on society because it can influence to become violent and take drugs in the future. Scientist has also tested and proven that television violence has negative influence on society. Television has many shows with violence with it like Power ranger, Criminal Mind, and The Walking Dead. In the show The Walking Dead is a show where a group of people try to survive in a zombie apocalypse and have to use guns to shoot down the zombies. A child mind is easily molded easily, so when a child sees violence on a television show they can learn to do violent actions in the future. An example of this is when a child watches a show with a lot of fighting in it. Shows with a lot of fighting in it are Power rangers and The kids next store. Most children mimic what happens on television and start learning violent actions. This can lead to the child to think that violence is tolerable and start to do more violence actions in the future. Later when they become adult they are more likely to use violence to solve their problems. An example of this happening is when an adult is teased and start a fight with someone. Not all shows have violence in them, Dora the explora and Curious George are shows that are educational. In Dora the explora a girl with her monkey friend go on adventure and have to use problem solving to get to their destination. Scientists like Leonard Eron have tested that television does have a negative effect on society. The study of human behavior is Anthropologist and archeologist. The scientist tested if television had a negative effect on society. They tested this by having parent volunteer their child to watch several type of shows. This is only dealing with part of the problem, however, and an issue that is often overlooked is the rampant Antisemitism in major European countries, and even in America. From vandalism, to Russian military intervention, to the current situation in Ukraine, Europe is far from ridding itself of conflict based on racial bias and greed. Most white Americans and Europeans of today like to pretend that since WWII, we ve gotten past our prejudiced, anti semitic ways. Sadly, in most of the world, this isn t the case. There are still attacks and vandalism, and fairly often depending on where you re looking. The period of rebirth of the classic ideas is what we, more fondly and famously identify as the period of Renaissance today. The European countries have been the central station for this massively celebrated time of revival of knowledge either lost or forgotten. Italy hosted the birth of the personalities, the present knows as the Renaissance Masters with Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli, Raphael, Fra Bartolomeo, Masaccio being some of the most prominent figures. She focuses on alternatives to traditional sentences instead of shaming and incarceration. As a more recent trend, officials are using shaming sentences more and more. Tangney states that it is important to know the distinction between shameand guilt. Tangney states, that research has shown feeling of guilt involve a sense of tension and regret over the bad thing done. Guilt makes people feel bad. It makes them want to change their behaviorwhereas shame does not motivate people to feel better and they are less likely to stop their wrong behavior (577). She also states that scientific evidence suggested publicly shaming a person makes a problem instead of creating a constructive change in them and individuals may hide and escape the shameful feelings and try to blame others (577). In conclusion, Tangney suggest community service as a sentence for offenders to pay their debt to society for their wrongdoing, been linked to the crime they did. Her tone is informative and innovative and keeps the reader interested while reading. However, this article displays weakness in term of the evidence the author presents, it is one sided and does not provide evidence her suggestion for community service as a sentence option works. Therefore, it fails to persuade the reader. Tangney s essay suggested that all minor crimes should be handled with guilt punishments; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. A Hero Is A Hero What if you were trapped in a burning building with nobody to come and save you? People need heroes. Whether you are being robbed or your house is on fire, you need a hero. There is a reason that heroes are so liked, needed, and wanted in our modern world. It s because heroes instill order where there is chaos by having the kindness to do something that s right, like stand up to a bully, but also by having the kindness to do something like rescue a cat from a tree. The first thing that anybody needs when trying to be a hero is courage to do something right. A hero has to have the courage to do something that is right no matter how hard or how big the task really is. The man in the water is a good example of this because Lenny Skutnik didn t hesitate for a split second about jumping into the water to save that lady and the man that was in the water didn t hesitate about passing on the life preserver. It s something I never thought I would do referring to his jumping into the water to drag an injured woman to shore... somebody had to go in the water (pg 12 Man in the Water). He jumped in the water to save someone because he knew that it was the right thing to do and he had the courage to do it. Every time they lowered a lifeline and floating ring to him he passed it on to another of the passengers. (pg 12 Man in the Water). The man in the water also had the courage to do what was right because even though he knew he would probably die, he wanted the others to live which takes a tremendous amount of courage. Whale Tale is also a good example for this because Michael Fishbach risked everything, life and boat, to help a humpback whale. He swam into the water with the humpback whale that was tangled up in the net knowing all to well that he could die from one frantic movement and that is the courage that makes him a hero, he also was cutting the net off of the whale and had to let it tow him around knowing that it could tip over the boat in an instant and that is why he is recognized as a hero and that is because he had the courage to do something right while knowing that he and his crew could have died. Pest Analysis Management board decisions International performance Resources and capabilities The two main independent variables that have to be included in the conceptual model are the management board and the resources and capabilities of the company. It has been discussed in the literature that two of the four factors that influence the performance of businesses in their internationalization process are the management level and the control of resource capacity (Zeng, Tam, Wan, 2009). A distinction between resources and capabilities must be made: resources are the productive assets of the firm, while the capabilities are what the firm can do. It is the management board that decides upon the acquisition, development, usage and control of resources and the development of capabilities. Managers will select a set of resources from those available to the firm that they believe are responsible for achieving their vision of the business, which will result in the desired sustained competitive advantage of the company (Kunc, Morecroft, 2010). Furthermore, the board will have to decide on other matters as well, which can alter the international performance of the company, whether it be positive or negative. Background In the next sections we will elaborate further on the links described in the conceptual framework. An extensive review of the literature on these subjects will be given, which will be used to support the analysis

The movie was about five black and Latino teenagers aged 14 to 16 of being falsely convicted of attacking and raping a 28 year old white woman in the central park, New York in 1989. There was lots of miscarriage of justice that occurred in this movie that caught me by surprise and disappointment me. If this was a woman from Harlem or another poor city, this would not have been such a big case. Sales from these discount stores were $24.7 billion in 2000 and were expected to more than double to $51.1 billion in 2009 (Exhibit 8). Two main drivers fueled this growth trend. Other than hierarchy and meritocracy (Robinson, 2015), the old public administration had many unique features. Those features included a centralized control with set rules and guidelines, separating policymaking from implementation, and employed a categorized organizational arrangement (Osborne, 2006). Few other central features of this model were, the separation between politics and politicians on one hand and administration and administrators on the other, resources belong to the organization, not to the individuals who work in it and limited public involvement with administrators responsible to democratically elected political leaders (Denhardt Denhardt, 2015). Old public administration played an important role in managing budgets and human resources in an organization by targeting efficiency and effectiveness. These goals were achieved by first defining specialized roles within organizations. These roles were then filled by qualified people who were recruited based on merits. To be concise, nationalism is described as the feelings people have when identifying with their nation. It has the ability to impact a country s social, political, and economic conditions. Incidentally, nationalism should be perceived as a negative force due to the amount of tragedies it has generated throughout the course of history. It s remarkable influence has left many collective groups feeling isolated or mistreated. Nationalism first emerged in the 18th century, during the early days of the French Revolution. Prior to this, France was under the reign of an absolute monarch known as King Louis XVI. The king had no respect for his subjects, and believed that he alone constructed France s identity. However, civilians disagreed; fed up with the feudal system which only benefited the noble class and the clergy, the middle class whispered ideas of change. • 40. Wildlife Protection And Commercial Interests Introduction Throughout history, the battle between conserving the wildlife around us and the need for commercial interests has led to many arguments. Wildlife protection refers to the practice of wild plant and animal species and their habitats. A commercial interest encompasses a company with the purpose of expanding or producing goods or services that are to be consumed by customers. When the road to expansion first started, most people did not worry about cutting down a tree to build a home or railroad. Now, however, the argument over what is moral and what is necessary has led to the question of whether or not a wild animal should be protected or their habitat cut down in order to make more room for housing or oil pipelines or other man made things. In this paper, I will be presenting alternative positions on the topic of the differing priorities of wildlife protection and commercial interests. Perspective 1: Pro Wildlife Protection A conservationist is someone who advocates or acts for the protection and preservation of the environment and wildlife. This particular group of people would argue that protecting the existing wildlife is more important than other commercial interests. To begin, conservationists would argue that wildlife has already deteriorated so much and so people must conserve natural habitats for future generations of both people and animals to enjoy. In my opinion, punishmentis not a proper method of crimecontrol, however, some sanctions should be attainable in current day living.
