Phoenix In Eudora Welty s A Worn Path
The phoenix was a symbol of fire and power in the past, and among the many warnings it brought
forth about plague or other illnesses that may strike the people who come across it. More
importantly it was a symbol of rebirth and hope, and in some anglo saxon cultures it was a sign
of longevity to see the ashes of a fire bird and a sign of peace to see one reborn. Yet, it would be
seen as doubly interesting to look, not only into the meaning of the word and symbol Phoenix, but
into the name as well. Why is it that Eudora Weltymade a character, an old and frail black woman
with that name? [An] arguement is that this text figures the writing process, that much more than a
character sketch, A Worn Pathis a complex analogy of fabulation of invention... Phoenix s traits her
blackness, femaleness, age, and apparent poverty challenge the reader... Phoenix means many
things in this case, it is the necessary and repetitive trips to the doctor for medicine, the lingering of
past ideals, and it is the relentless attitude that made Phoenix continue on to her goal even when
deterred.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The man treated her as a frail, incapable, and uneducated being. She was the juxtaposition of the
other characters material wealth and self concern with Phoenix s poverty and selflessness, a
contrast intensified by their interactions with, and misunderstanding of, her. (Beatha) The man had
no more respect for her than he thought he should have, and that, as it was for a long time before,
was little no none at all. This lingering hatred is like the very name that Phoenix had, it was
repeating, unending, or so it seemed at that

Life Of The Rapa Nui People Research Paper
To fully comprehend the cause and effect of collapse and the factors that play into it, one must
first understand the definition. Collapse is the counterpart of sustainability; if a society creates a
non sustainable way of life then collapse will occur. Sustainability can be defined as the ability
to adapt and progress as a civilization economically, ecologically and socially and thus collapse is
the inability to adapt effectively in these areas (Thiele). Moreover, although a full fledge collapse
can be an extinction of an entire species, unwarranted population displacement, culture and
ideology change and suffering are all indicators of a collapse occurring (Diamond). The
phenomenon of having a civilization completely wiped off the face of the Earthwith no signs and
influence left in the world to be called a true collapse is ambiguous. Declination either gradual or
steep, if a civilization has to vastly change their customs and patterns this can be... Show more

Entire forests were beginning to vanish as their bark was being used for huts, canoes, harpoons
and clothes. The disappearance of trees created a cascading effect in which affected the
inhabitants more than they could imagine. Although the soil was not immensely fertile to begin
with, the lack of tree roots made the soil turn into sand and unable to grow tropical fruits. The
trees and the fruit which grew upon them provided land birds, both a home and a stable food
source. Deforestation resulted in a rapid decrease in the bird population, which was a serious
threat to food availability. In addition, fish were also stripped away from the Polynesian diet as
both overfishing occurred, which declined the population of fish like tuna and the lack of wood in
order to make canoes made fishing fleets marginalized. These environmental dangers sparked
massive starvation for many of the common

My Dream Is A Dream
Growing up, my parents moved around a lot. There were times when we lived with relatives,
and there were times when we had an apartment or trailer. We never had any money and could
never stay in one place for long. As I got older, I heard the speeches they told us kids, such as
You can be anything you want when you grow up! and Follow your dreams! But now as I look
around, I see fear and misery. People are depressed and angry at how their lives are going. Our
government is selling our country to anyone with enough money. News has been reduced to
sensationalized, misleading opinion pieces. Rent has gone up. Houseprices have gone up. Gas
prices have gone up. All the while, wages have stayed the same. We are losing our privacy to
lobbying, our rights are being taken away for the illusion of safety, and our politicians want to
remove the safety nets that keep us from losing everything to unforeseen circumstances. This is
not a dream, it is a nightmare. I have dreams that I m currently pursuing them. I want a career I
love and look forward to when I wake up in the morning. I no longer want to live paycheck to
paycheck. I want to love what I do and life a good life. Not once has a goal of mine been to buy a
house. I have come to terms with the idea of living in an apartment as long as I keep pursuing my
dreams. Houses are simply too expensive. There are enough homes in America to house all the
homeless with many houses left over. But they remain abandoned waiting for

Consumerism In Oh Wonder
American philosopher Rebecca Goldstein once said, Our society is falling back increasingly on
rampant consumerism and self promoting social media as a way for people to feel that their lives
matter self centered means of numbing the questions of mattering. In a world caught up in mass
media and consumerism, there is an underlying argument that there is a lack of positive social
interaction. With the ability to say anything without having a face to face conversation, hate is
easier than ever to spread and people can avoid each other yet still interact . According to Dolan,
Rock, in particular, has always had an uneasy relationship with mass culture, since it faces the
problem of espousing the aesthetics of rebellion and countercultural ideals while at the same time
depending on the mechanisms of mass culture for dissemination and distribution. In the case of the
bandOh Wonder, they attempt to use their fame to spread ideas of love and compassion.
Oh Wonder is the singer/songwriter duo of Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht hailing from
London England. Starting off in a separate band and a solo artist respectively, West and Vander
Gucht started with the idea to produce a song once a month on Soundcloud and YouTube. Coming
from a city with a high Soundcloud following, especially since the early 1990s, many of the most
internationally influential genres of electronic dance music have originated in London
(Allington), they immediately found success. To the surprise

Effects Of Anti Babesia Vaccine On The Livestock Industry
4. Discussion Babesia has a worldwide economic importance due to the enormous losses it
causes for the livestock industry. A subunit antigen attracted the attention for the development of
anti Babesia vaccine (Brown et al., 2006). In this respect, HSPs have emerged as prospective
immunostimulatory components for vaccine development (Suto and Srivastava, 1995; Suzue
and Young, 1996; Zugel and Kaufmann, 1999). Therefore, we investigated the characterization
of a member of the HSP 70 family from B. bigemina. The sequence of BbigHSP 70 was found in
the genome sequence database of B. bigemina through the blast search with homologue
sequences of B. bovis and B. gibsoni. The sequence of BbigHSP 70 from the Argentina strain
was identified by sequencing. Gene has 2 copies in most apicomplexan, but we did not analyze
the copy number in B. bigemina; this will be done in a future study. Phylogenetic analysis of the
amino acid sequence showed that all intraerythrocytic protozoan parasites, including Plasmodium
spp., make one group located outside the paraphyletic group containing eumycetes and
vertebrates. Since the HSP 70 of the parasites and hosts do not seem to be closely related, they
likely evolved separately. The H SP 70 of Babesia, Theileria and Plasmodium seem to be closely
related; therefore, the function of HSP 70 might be similar among these parasites. Jie et al. (1996)
suggested that HSP 70 perform functions critical to the survival of B. microti parasites. As described

A Critical Analysis Of Michael Vick s Article
In previous research done by Kristi Grim she examined the coverage of Michael Vick, an African
American quarterback accused of running a dog fighting ring, and Roethlisberger, a white NFL
quarterback, who like Vick also had a bright football career and was accused of sexual assault
(Grim, 2013). She performed a qualitative research analysis examining the dominant frame in each
local newspaper, and how the journalist established the frame in the story. In her research she
reviewed the Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC) for stories on Michael Vicks dog fighting
accusations, and the Pittsburgh Post Gazette (PPG) for stories involving Roethlisberger s rape
accusations (Grim, 2013). In her research she only focused on articles that happened before the
district attorney announced Roethlisberger would not be charged, and before Vick was charged to
avoid this having an impact on the way the media portrayed the story.... Show more content on

The Battle Of The Sea
The sea roiled as waves lapped hungerly against the approaching Snekke class long ship. It s
sanguine stripped sail flowed eagerly in the strong breeze. Lightning split the sky with bolts of
terrifying power. The ionic cleansing of the air bringing about a sense of change and clarity before
a storm of a different nature began.
Thor is pleased with us! Listen to how he works his anvil! The god s are with us today!
The giant warriors aboard the ship roared in agreement thrusting fist and axe into the sky. Not all
of them were men, about a quarter were women who stood nearly six feet tall. In the Norse
Germanic pagan society, women were equal to men and were not denied the chance to find glory

All fifty raiders grabbed their great circular wooden shields off the sides of the boat, and leapt over

With that Leif started slapping the head of his axe against the metal dome which rested in the
center of his shield. When the other Norse men did the same, it created an intimidating beat of war.
They approached the village in a shield wall formation, in five columns. The men in front carried
pilums to skirmish with, while the hirdman made up the middle. A few huscarls who joined them
took up the flank of the brigade, each of them holding a two handed Dane axe, capable of crushing
through both shield and armor alike.

Great post Sharon! Forensics and fiber evidence is the most intriguing part of the career to me.
Crimes are hard to get away with today because of fiber evidence. Everybody picks up fiber when

People that work in forensics mention that glitter particles are proven to be useful traces of
evidence which can dramatically affect the case. Most importantly, glitter is manufactured
differently such as the shape, thickness and refraction, which makes it easier to identify in the
database. There are thousands of commercial glitters that are linked with art crafts, cosmetics and
decorations. In addition, glitter is transferred from the body or clothes,

A Truly Beautiful Soul in The Idiot, by Fyodor Dostoyevsky...
The Russian novelist Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky stands at the very summit of Russian
literature. No 19th century writer had greater psychological insight or philosophical depth. None
speaks more immediately and passionately to the mood and tone of the present century. This essay
will discuss how Dostoyevskys intent to portray a truly beautiful soulmanifests itself in the novel
The Idiot, and access Dostoyevsky s success or failure in achieving his intention.
Dostoyevsky confesses in his letter to Maikov dated January 12, 1868 that his desperate situation
compelled him to resort to the fascinating and tempting, but nonetheless difficult and premature
thought of portraying a wholly beautiful individual. As a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This would suggest that Myshkin could not possibly embody beauty since he is ineffectual and
destructive and ultimately inadvertently assists a murder of a physically beautiful woman. I will
try to show in my essay though that although this is a deliberately pessimistic and truthful
hypothesis, Dostoyevsky does portray a truly beautiful soul .
The proposal of The Idiot is to expose the contradiction between worldly and heavenly values: a
saint , like Prince Myshkin, is considered an idiot . He doesn t see what everybody sees, because
he has got his eyes set not in other people s faces, but in their souls. Just like the author, he is a
psychologist: and a psychologist not only with a complete understanding of every individual s
minds, but also full of compassion for each one of their failures. Once again, we see the triad
compassion/forgiveness/love as the main message of the book.
Prince Myshkin is Dostoyevsky s positive character. He is an ideal Christian and lives by the
virtue of such ideals. He is compassionate, benevolent, patient and forgiving. He arrives in Russia
at the age of twenty six having spent four years in Switzerland treating his epilepsy and mental
illness. He refers to himself as an idiot because of this illness. The reason for his arrival to St.
Petersburg is to start a new life with the help of his distant relative Elizaveta Prokofievna
Yepanchin. At their family home he is attracted to Aglaya as a new hope. He

Analysis Of Disney Company s Recreation Of Public Domain...
Once upon a time there were gripping tales shared between generation to generation and
continuously passed down. The listener s focus was on the story s message and not its possible
profit allowed those listeners to live happily ever after. Storytelling began long ago traditionally
told orally before there was a shift to written stories and eventually as technology developed
became a digital market. Some of the most famous digitalized tales are fairy tales. Previous to
digital development, copyrightlaws on fairy tales were slim because there was less concern over
copying. This is also how the story s focus was more on the message and its creative development
than the potential profit. The Walt Disneycompany s recreation of public domainfairy tales
demonstraights how copyright laws have hindered artistic creativitity within America.
The Walt Disney company, is a beloved as well as infamous company worldwide also
notoriously known for their strict copyright laws. Original American copyright laws stated
artistic works were protected for 28 years and these laws were eventfully extended to a 56 year
time frame. The term continues to increase with the present law set at 75 years. Large companies
like Disney continue to fight for stricter and longer laws because of the revenue they will continue
to bring it. (Washington post). One apparent problem from the extensions is public lacks the ability
to build on Disney stories since they are not in public domain. In the 1997 report

Art And The Spectacle In Swamplandia
The Contract of Meaning: Art and the Spectacle in Karen Russell s Swamplandia!
Karen Russell s Swamplandia! exhibits the incomplete methodology of Formalism and New
Criticism, requiring an analysis of literature as the interaction between author and reader. By
demanding a combination of authorial intent and the comprehension of the reader, Russell calls for
the elimination of the spectacular, and instead, for seeking the sublime. Swamplandia! contends
that only through the integration of many distinct perspectives can one find reality, as fantasy
derives from designating a singular objective truth.
Swamplandia! claims that language acts as a contract of meaning between speaker and listener, as
opposed to a statement with intrinsic meaning as viewed in Formalism, in order to allow the reader

Descriptive Essay On Monument Valley Discovery
A trip to visit Monument Valley took me through the mystifying canyons and desert flats of Utah
consecrated by the indigenous Navajo people for their natural beauty. I did not realize that my
journey on a winding road through the sovereign Navajo Nation would have such a profound effect
on me when I first arrived at Monument ValleyNavajo Tribal Park. Amidst the towering auburn
stones and fine sands, the Valley began to perform a ballad of whispering winds and endless sky.
This performance detailed the relationship between man and nature in Monument Valley and even
the largest lens cannot capture the landscape. I began to interpret Monument Valley (see
appendix A) and its importance to me as an example of true nature that I encountered early in my
childhood in movies. It was naive to believe that my childhood recollections of grayscale Western
films did it justice, so I set out on a journey to discover the landscape in person. While my original
memories will endure, the enchanting effects of the Valley of the Rocks on my soul is only
relivable amidst the great stones of the Colorado Plateau.
Revered across the world for its unique physical features, the Colorado Plateau (see appendix B)
has become synonymous with natural wonder. I took up the task of visiting the expansive area in
August of 2017 to as an odyssey of discovery, and immediately noticed the uniqueness of the
landscape. Upon arrival, it became clear that the Navajo cared for their natural spaces in a

Groundwater Groundwater Pollution
Groundwater Pollution with Chlorinated Ethenes Groundwater is water that is located underground
between soil particles and in holes, or pores, in the bedrock ( Groundwater, 2011). Because earth
has 80 times more groundwater than all the freshwater stored in lakes and streams combined (
Groundwater, 2011), its health has a large influence on the environment. Groundwater also has a
large impact on humans; groundwater accounts for about 20% of water used in the US and almost
half of water used in households, including drinking water ( Groundwater, 2011).
Chlorinated ethenes, also referred to as organochlorides, CVOCs, and chloroethenes, are common
groundwater contaminants throughout the world (Zinder Gossett, 1995; Dugat Bony, et al., 2012;
Rouzeau Szynalski, Maillard, Holliger, 2010; Ni et al., Rijnaarts, 2014). They are often found in
various environmental media near industrial facilities (DobrzyВґnska, PoВґsniak, SzewczyВґnska,
Buszewski, 2010). Chloroethenes tend to be persistent in the contaminated groundwater; they
remain present indefinitely and are usually not degraded through natural means by any indigenous
population (Zaan, et al., 2009; Tas, 2010).
Chloroethenes tetrachloroethene (PCE) and trichloroethene (TCE) are the most common type of
groundwater pollutant in urban and industrial areas and pose a threat to human health (Lee Lee,
2016). Both PCE and TCE concentrations are regulated by the 1986 amendments to the Safe

The Silkwood Movie Essay
Summary The Silkwood Movie is about a nuclear facility, and the lives of three people who
worked there. This movie is based off a true story, about the conditions and safety concerns for
the nuclear plants, back when the research was still lacking. The main problems in the movie, is
when it came to the health of the workers from the chemicals let off from the nuclear plant. The
three main characters are: Karen Silkwood (the main character), Drew Stevens (the boyfriend),
and Dolly Pelliker (the roommate). All of these characters worked in the nuclear plant and were
exposed to the plants poor safety conditions. Being exposed to the plutonium caused the main
character Karen Silkwood, to raise awareness of the health concerns to the workers, from the
exposure of plutonium. In an article by, Live Science, plutonium is explained as a radioactive
silver metal, that is a byproduct of the nuclear powerindustry ( sjkdfkljshd). Plutonium has also
been linked to causing cancer in people who were exposed to high levels of the chemical. Karen
s main focus was to get the Union on her side, because many of the workers already knew the
health risks and decided to ignore them. Most of the workers did care about their health, however;
they needed the job from working at the nuclear facility. Later Karen was exposed to high levels of
plutonium, but the causes of her death were unknown.

There are several factors that influenced my planning and teaching when creating this lesson

students in the class, seven students are English language learners, seven proficient English
speakers, and six redesignated English Speakers The majority of these students come from Spanish

Cause And Effect Of Climate Change
Climate change is one of the biggest news headlines of today. While there are skeptics that believe
that global warming is just a hoax, there are many undeniable phenomenons happening around the
world. The effects of climate change, in the long run, will be catastrophic if it is left alone. In just
the past two months, there have been four hurricanes that made landfall in North America, and a
wildfire more aggressive than has ever been seen before, ripping through California, killing forty
people and leveling almost six thousand structures. Millions of Americans are displaced due to
these unusually aggressive storms and the fires raging throughout California. Arctic species have
seen massive reductions in their populations, with less food to eat, and less mates to breed with.
The toxicity of the air in urban cities and contamination of waters outside these cities is on the rise.
If the world keeps dismissing the importance of climate change, there will be calamitous
consequences for the future generations. The effects of climate change, if not fixed, will be Arctic
ice melting, reduction in animal populations, habitats threatened, and the air toxicity and seasonal
allergies to humans. The causes include the greenhouse effect and air pollution. In the past decade,
Americans have seen global warmingin the headlines constantly. About 71 percent of American
scientists say that global warming is happening now (Saad). According to Linda Saad, Forty five

story of notorious gangster Breven Caltavious. The silence is filled by a droning local news
anchor telling the gruesome but brief account of how Breven Caltavious died. A story like this
could never be broadcasted over the news; no one knew how the story really ended but the story
of how it began was widely known. As everyone knows, this story begins near a churning river
near Ashland Ohio. Breven, before he added Caltavious to his name, was just known as Breven
in the box. Breven was known as the town idiot and because of this was never able to get a job.
Breven ended up living in his Mom s basement for a while until eventually she threw him out on

Deception In Much Ado About Nothing By William Shakespeare
Deception was an essential element in most of Shakespeare s plays, whether they are comedies,
histories or tragedies. The question here is; What is the dramatic effect of deception? Does it
always lead to a downfall? And did deception always inherently evil? In Shakespeare s plays,
deception had many different faces, it could be accidental, well planned, or self inflicted, it also
can be evil and pure. Obviously, using deceptionfor evil seems always to let to downfall, however,
deception is not always inherently evil, but can also be pure and used as a means to good ends. In
each of Shakespeare s four plays Much Ado about Nothing, As You Like It, Hamlet, and Macbeth
deception as a theme took many different forms, and lead to different ending in each play,
happy ending as it which is used for good, and downfall as it used for evil. In Much Ado about
Nothing, deception as a theme seems to surround the whole of the play, it has divided into both,
pure and evil deception. This appears in deceiving Claudio and Don Pedro that results Hero s
disgrace, and fooling both Beatrice and Benedick to believe that they love each other. Don John
plays an essential role of the deception as he was the one who deceive Claudio and Don Perdo to
distrust Hero, which lead to the rejection by Claudio of Hero in the wedding. I had rather be a
canker in a hedge than a rose in his grace, and it better fits my blood to be disdained of all than to
fashion a carriage to rob love from any, (1,

The Achievements Of King Alexander And King Philip
Alexander and King Philip When one begins to explore King Alexander and his amazing
accomplishments, they must first examine his upbringing. Alexander was the son of King
Philip II of Macedonia, who also achieved greatness, and ascended to the thrown at twenty one
years old. Alexander was provided by his father, a remarkable foundation, which included the
best education, not only focusing on academics, but philosophy and military maneuvers as well.
Philip was from Macedonia, which was located in northern Greece. This was a very rurual area
that relied on farming as it main economy. This economy could be easily disrupted by the
frequent conflicts within the country between the local kings and the elites. Macedonia was
also vulnerable to attacks from its neighbors. Another issue for the Macedonians was that they
were not viewed as Greek by their neighbors in Athens. They were considered barbarians. This
kept them from engaging in politics in Greece. King Philip II was born in 382 BC in Macedonia
and was the youngest of three sons. Philips father was King Amyntas III and when he died, he
left the thrown to his eldest son Alexander II. Alexander II died after only three years and then
the thrown was then given to the middle son Perdiccas III. Philip was held hostage by Thebes, for
approximately three years, to help control the behavior of his brother the King Alexander II.
Hostages were not treated horribly, as we envision today. They were held by their captures for

It was a situation no young man should ever have to face, where only one would survive. This was
going to be no scuffle in the playground, this was much more, this was life or death. The circle
parted to make way for their leader as Jack marched through them with a military style. The
circle reformed, trapping the boys within, like a pack of wolves closing on it s prey. Jack thrust
his spear into the ground then approached Ralph screaming, Come on you cowardly bastard ,
while the circle lay silent in anticipation of what was to come. As if enough blood had not
already been spilt, the boys wondered if this day another death would occur. Ralph looked at
Jack and could see the anger in his eyes, anger driven by his insanity. Ralph picked himself up off
the ground in excruciating pain, the silence was unnerving him. All he could hear were the waves
lashing at the rocks below. Ralph did not need to reply to Jack, for the time for talking was over.
Both boys knew what had to be done.
Ralph lunged towards Jack, fists clenched tight, his fist met with Jack s left cheek. Jack seemed
unmoved by this blow as his adrenalin pumped through his veins. He retaliated quickly, striking
Ralph back as the circle chanted with spears aloft. Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood! .
This was repeated over and over again.

A Doll’S House. By Henrik Ibsen. Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906),
A Doll s House By Henrik Ibsen Henrik Ibsen (1828 1906), Norway s major playwright and poet
during the 19th century, was a pioneer of Western modernism (Wikipedia). His plays founded
the realist school of Western theatre and some literary critics even consider him as the father of
realism or refer to the rise of Ibsenism (iii) when discussing his work. A Doll s House (1879) is
one of the most influential plays in European literature because it created a new, realist style of
staging plays, moving away from epic theatrical conventions. Play s characters are living a regular
life and belong to the middle or upper middle class. A Doll s House presents the moral conflicts of
its protagonists, Torvald and Nora Helmer, by mixing between... Show more content on

Helmer shows his real face. He is a selfish and thankless man which urges Nora to leave the
family. The play represents a normal middle class family that functions according to the
common gender roles of the time. Ibsen uses symbols and images to show the contrast between
interrelationship between moral issues and their external manifestation in the play. Torvald
dominates his wife, who is servile and resembles a bird in the cage. Torvald frequently refers to
her as skylark (4), squirrel, or doll. All of these names belittle her and make her look subservient
to him. The antagonists, Mrs. Linde, Mr. Krogstad, and Dr. Rank, the family friend who is in
secret love with Nora and suffering from a terminal illness, play a crucial role in the play s
dramatic development. These characters are insincere and mirror the moral conflicts between
Nora and Torvald. Moreover, Ibsen uses particular symbols to show the moral weakness of
Torvald and Nora s marriage. For example, the Christmas tree symbolizes the family. The tree is
dead, has no roots to support it, and is put in a place where visitors can see it for ostentation.
Torvald and Nora are interested in decorating it with artificial objects rather than enjoying its natural
beauty. Thus, the tree represents the disintegration of Nora and Torvald s marriage, its lacking
foundation of truth, understanding and honesty, and its artificial rules of

The Linguistic Situation of Bulgaria
Introduction:
In the field of linguistics language change may be credited to a variety to social, cultural and
geographical factors. However, language also has a temporal variation, which can be either long
term or short term. The study of language over time/history requires the analysis of a broad range
of texts and linguistic aspects. In order to study the history of a language, it is useful to focus on a
particular region.
The linguistic situation of Bulgaria is an immensely fascinating subject when studied in parallel
with the historical events, since languages tend to develop alongside history.
The aim of this paper is to explore the linguistic history for Bulgaria through the study of past
language changes and impact of sociolinguistics, ethnic and religious divide in order to understand
the current linguistic situation. This paper examines text from many sources, including a person
with first hand experience. By being mindful of the context and purpose for which these texts were
written, we are better able to analyze the use to the languages of Bulgarian through time. For the
purpose of this paper I will analyze pages from text that describe the political/natural history and
pages that describe the moral history in order avoid erroneous conclusions involving rhetoric and
style or more seriously a misinterpretation due to political/religious bias.
At the beginning of the 19th century, a landmark theory was proposed by a Sir William Jones
regarding the similarities

Casino Royale Research Paper
Casino Royale was written by Robert Wade and Paul Haggis as an adaptation of Ian Fleming s
novel Casino Royale of 1953 was produced in 2006 by director Martin Campbell. It was the first
Bond movie for David Craig to star as James Bond. Similar to all other Bond movies; Casino
Royale is an action filled thriller. As the adventurous movie scenes traverse from Prague to London,
then Miami and the Bahamas and finally climax in Venice, it was without doubt one of the most
intriguing and original movies of all times. The recently promoted James Bondwas set to go on his

They demonstrate the sternness of life and the cruelty that people experience in life. As a result, the
people turn into hardened creatures with little or no emotions. They tend to lose their human values
and attributes. However, Casino Royale gives a different dimension that wows the audience. Craig
makes a superb Bond, who demonstrates a sense of hard man, wounded by his job and life, which
nonetheless cares about the people. He tends to show a concern between wrong and right in the
society. This knowledge gets the audience to surprise. The Bond characters rarely show their
emotions in various movies. However, Craig shows emotions that people relate to. As human
beings, emotions are part of life but are not evident in most of the Bond characters. This is among
the characteristics that make this movie the people s favorite. Another captivating element of the
movie is its originality. Movies in the modern day are characterized by high tech elements and
equipment. The sophistication in movies through these technological gadgets make the movies lose
their originality. However, this movie uses human attributes and connections that make it possible
to understand and relate. The movie had been described as taking Bond back to his roots because of
its focus on characterization. It mainly focused on character and the plot, rather than high tech
gadgets and the visual effects that characterize the modern movies. In the process, the movie
received significant ratings in the industry for its top notch characterization. As a result, the movie

The Issue Of Abortion On The United States
As Sam Brownback once quoted, Unborn children do not have a voice, but they are young members
of the human family. It is time to look at the unborn child, and recognize that it is really a young
human, who can feel pain and should be treated with care. In America alone, more than half of
pregnancies among American woman are unintended, and about seven out of ten of these 500,000
unintended pregnancies are terminated by abortion each year in America. In today s modern
American culture, many consider an unborn fetusa non life form; however, an unborn fetus
possesses many, if not all, characteristics of life. The issue of abortion in the United States has been
one that has courted controversy and created a public, ethical, and moral division in our American
society and culture. Different opinions and views on this contraceptive subject has brought on
multitudinous moral and ethical arguments. Morally, many people in our modern culture believe
that if the mother of the unborn child has certain mental issues or health issues, it is suitable for
that mother to terminate the life of her unborn child for the better health of the baby and for the
mother herself. However; once an unborn fetus is aborted, the symptoms after an abortion have
long term and lasting impacts on the mother that can worsen the mother s health and mental
stability. After an abortion, many mothers have experienced extreme sadness and anger, periods of
long term depression and regret, and some have

Marketing Australia for the Commonwealth Games
As a part of the marketing team for the commonwealth games hosted in Glasgow in 2014, I have
decided to market in Australia. I have chosen Australia, on account of them winning the event 11
times. Personally, I think they will have a larger a fan base due to the fact they are favourites of
winning the event once again. Another reason to why I chose Australiais by virtue of them having a
longstanding relationship with Scotland. In 2011 a census was carried out and 103,204 citizens
where Scottish Australians and 1,792,600 claimed Scottish ancestry (National Records of Scotland,
2011). Statistics listed in the above will make it more inviting for tourist from Australia to come

The Poems Of Andrea, Fra Lippo, And The Artistic Life At...
Browning s intellectual curiosity and vivid interest in men were allied with a singular aloofness
from the movements and revolutions of his time. Browning s mind was impervious to doubt,
and his confidence in the value of life was constitutionally unshakable, it means intensely, and
means good: (Browning, Fra Lippo Lippi, line 314). His vision is so clear and comprehensive
that he viewed his subject on numerous planes. He makes his readers see and understand each
of his characters in their habit as they lived and thought and purposed. The poems of Andrea, Fra
lippo are an epitome of the city s artistic life at the zenith of its fame. Browning s attitude towards
Art follows certain characteristic. Firstly, he derives pleasures from every exercise of creative
power like the swiftly emerging conception in Fra Lippo s mind, Secondly; he maintains a
consistent attitude towards both technique and connoisseurship. The faultless drawing of Andrea
del Sarto. Simply betray the impotence when called upon exercise the crucial function of the
artist. Duke of Ferrara is soundly equipped with critical taste and knowledge. But he toils not,
neither does he spin; he contributes nothing; he is content with the mere pride of possession.
Thirdly, creation, technique, is all of them of less significance to him than the soul of artist. This is
partly because the artist is in many ways the symbolic figure of humane for him. In Fra Lippo

History Of Deer Park Water Company Essay
Do you ever wonder about the origin story behind the brands that we use in our everyday lives?
Well there is a story behind the founding of Deer Park Water Company. After the Civil War, the
Deer Park Hotel was built in the Appalachian Mountains located in Maryland by the Baltimore
and Ohio Railroad. The hotel was created to attract those who took passage on the railroad, but
the spring that was located nearby also caught the attention of the travelers. The spring was
known for the appeal of a clean source of water, this led the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad to start
putting the water into bottles in 1873. It was known as the Boiling Spring because the water
comes through sand on the way up. A company, known as The Boiling Spring Holding
Corporation, purchased the spring and the woods surrounding it in 1966. The Boiling Spring
Holding Corporation decided to put the spring to a use and made a profit bottling up the water and
selling it mainly throughout the New York area, until production eventually expanded across the
nation. Most of the water in the spring is located near the Appalachian Trail. Something interesting
about the Deer Park Hotel is that President Taft and his wife had their honeymoon there. Deer Park
Water Company is a sub corporation of the Nestle Waters North America Company. Nestle Waters
North America was founded in 1976 and started out importing Perrier Sparkling Water before
moving on to include regular bottled water. At the time that the company was first

Everyday Life in Sixteenth Century France Essay
The lifestyle in France, just like in all other European countries, has changed dramatically since the
early 1700 s. People went from farmers to factory owners to all of the professions of today s
society. The main reason for the great changes in lifestyle that occurred in France was the Industrial
Revolution, which urbanized most of France. But the Industrial Revolutionwas not the only thing
that changed France. The monarchy fell the church changed, and the role people had in their jobs
and family life change drastically.

basically had nice things and lived in big houses and ate a lot of good food. Noble s daily meals
consisted of a variety of meats, and sides of cheese and wine (Gildea 119). Bread and anything
grown in the ground was considered peasant food and was not eaten by the nobles at all. This is
the way life had been and it slowly began to change in the 1700 s.
The scientific revolution and the enlightenment began to alter the everyday life of people in
France. Navigation became a huge part of many people s lives. Men began to study the sky s

make hypotheses about the universe. During this time there was a rebirth of the quest for
knowledge. Universities grew during this time; it became more popular to know how to read and

Further, the use of sound, outside of music, in the montage is placed strategically in order

Right to Freedom:
In a democratic country like ours, safeguarding the freedom of an individual is very essential. Six
freedoms have been granted to the citizens both individually and collectively. They are:
a. Freedom of speech and expression;
b. Freedom to assemble peacefully without arms;
c. Freedom to form associations or unions;
d. Freedom to move freely throughout the territory of India;
e. Freedom to reside and settle in any part of the country; and
f. Freedom to practice any profession or to carry on any occupation, trade or business.
But there are certain restrictions or limitations on these freedoms. For instance, the right to freedom
of speech does not mean that we can say anything to anyone. Our freedom to speech does not entitle
us to make statements that are not in the interest of the security of the nation or sours ours relations

Miscommunications in the central nervous system alone can often produce problems. Therefore, the

there were, are, and will be looser. This is funny to say that I was, I am, and and will be great
title winner, where nobody loose but I the winner always win. You may think I am dumb and
talk about I am being winner is dumbest thing I have ever talk. You can call me whatever you
can because I was born with great title that few people in this world had, have, and will have.
The title that might get you to know what is that. Let s talk about Bhutan. I think everybody
know that country Bhutan that is known as World s Happiest Country in The Earth. Imagining
that is beginning beautiful. The country is beautiful due to the bloods and sweet of my
grandparents, and parents. Country that called every country s people to come and learn about
good things on Happiness. You know how well know Bhutan was. On the other part there was
m,e a kids who know that happiness was not becoming happy. In my mind happiness was living
in the struggle life. Struggle life that food aren t enough to eat. Education isn t good and proper.
Where there is no hope and life is more worst than prison life. Struggle life? You might tell me
struggling isn t happiness but I know that is happiness. That is happiness because my late father
teach me that living in struggle is more happy than living in the place where you are like king. He
always said that if you don t have enough food to eat, share

Chennai etc. these channels can be seen in small cities. But these are not as important in small
cities as in big cities.
Level of news given by English news channels
If there is a issue about the level of news channels. then English news channels are very
appropriate. News given by these news channels are 90% real. English news channels give real
news as much as possible. so it can be said that these are better than Hindi news channels. However
news channels have much importance in metropolitan cities but we come to small cities, there are
some problems occur because more than 65% Indian population live in villages nearby areas. They
are mostly illiterate in these areas . English is beyond their thinking.

Mcmullen Case Summary
McMullen is not discharged from the contract to build the apartment house. McMullen is not
discharged from the contract because the change of law did not prohibit the construc¬tion of the
building it just made it more expensive to build. Moreover, this issue doesn t come within the rule
of law that allows for a contract to be discharged. The contract is still enforceable because it s still
possible to build the apartment house it s just more expensive than what was originally thought and
agreed upon in the contract. The contract would only be discharged if it was impossible to perform
but in this case it s still possible to perform the contract. McMullen still must perform the contract

Koplik s defense was valid because his obligation to pay the $50,000 had been discharged by the
execution of the new agreement between Fast Foods Inc. and American Bank. Additionally,
Fast Foods Inc. agreed to pay the $50,000 owed to American Bank and both Fast Food Inc. and
American Bank agreed to a new schedule of payments to be made by Fast Foods. The new
agreement did not involve Koplik because he was discharged from the debt. American Bank
should be suing Fast Food Inc. instead of Koplik. Koplik s defense was valid. 5. Yes the contract
was terminated because the contract specifically stated that the sales transaction was to be
completed in 90 days. The language is very clear and unequivocal. Moreover, the contract didn t
need to say that time is of the essence . In addition, it could easily be implied that time was of the
essence in the contract because the Tinchers wanted the sales transaction to be completed in 90
days. Moreover, Creasy already knew that time was of the essence when she requested an extension
of time to buy the land. The contract was definitely

Minimum Wage Issues
Minimum wage is one of the biggest issues facing American society today. The government has
been involved in the minimum wage of workers for more than a hundred years, so government and
people have debated about what should be the minimum wage that would advantage the economy
and society in total. But unfortunately, after a long time arguing about this problem nothing change
and the American worker and breadwinner are still struggling with their income, so the big problem
for the American society at present is the minimum wagethat needs to be resolved and not forgiven,
as the community is now witnessing. However the United Statesof America is the most powerful

The next important issue the question of how can one be a good citizen for the community. The
young generation in any country has this question, so they want figure out how to find a good
model to a better future for themselves and their community. the young generations in the U.S.
observe gap between the citizen, so they facing a lot of problems in their society that poor people
has to coping with that and the same time the rich people with all the opportunity, they continue
their fancy life . These young people wants be famous and rich because they see result of pain of
gap between the rich and poor people. These show the value of good citizen is not about honesty,
kindness or man s rights any more, but it is about just be rich, and powerful and famous. Honesty,
this is so painful for the society that class differentials themselves are dangerous consequences for
the democracy community.
Another issue that shows the minimum wage has to be raised is the lack of motivation for middle
class. The first problem these families face is the inability to provide basic living facilities that
include housing, spending, and other human needs such as health insurance, and so on. Manet
noticed that Dupont lived with her mother,( I try to live within my means, but sometimes you just

the planning and operation of public transportation, waste water treatment, regional parks, and

If successful, additional locations will be added. This program is intended to increase ridership by
making access to bicycle storage more secure, which will enable people to ride their bikes to the
bus stations and commute on public transportation. Before this pilot program was conceived,
commuters needed to ride their bicycles to transit stations, lock them up on an unattended rack
at the stations or bring them on the bus and store them at their end destinations. Many people do
not work in buildings with secure bike storage and theft at the unattended and exposed racks is a
concern for riders because bicycles cost hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars. Transit staff
believes this cumbersome and unsecure process deters bicycle riders from utilizing public transit
during their commutes. As a remedy, this project entails building a large secure room with racks
for bicycle storage onto transit stations. The rooms will be climate controlled with HVAC
systems, security cameras, Wi Fi access, and have a controlled entry. Nancy s responsibilities in
creating this program included the development of the software that enables customers to register
for this program and use their existing go to cards as a way to access the bike storage area. While
the Metropolitan Council uses many different types of software and IS service packages that have
varying degrees of customization from 0% percent customized to 100% customized, this particular
project was conceived, designed, developed, and implemented completely in house by Metropolitan

Information Flowing Through The Bla-To-Pl Projection May
Information flowing through the BLA to PL projection may be the dominant route for reward
behavior. PL is important for the enhancement in reward seeking behavior when the deprived
animal is re exposed to the previously rewarding context (reinstatement)(Gourley Taylor, 2016). PL
is also important for discriminative reward seeking(Sangha et al., 2014). The BLA PL projectionis
important for reinstatement. BLA modulates the activity of PL responding to the CS (Gourley

During learning, many physiological changes can be found to correlate with behaviors. However
neural correlates that are not part of the dominant circuit may play a modulatory role in affecting
learning rate, or it can have no effect on behavior as they may simply be passive relays from other
structures. Critical structures and their projections are major contributors as the absence of any one
of them will abolish behavior. Dysregulations that abolish behavioral performance must be either
part of or at least influencing critical structures on the circuit. Focusing on circuits that contain only
the necessary components is critical to narrow the search for malfunctioning elements that lead to
downstream changes and cause behavioral impairment. Results from these aims would refine the
current circuit underlying SFRLD. In turn, this information would be vital for

THE ISLAMIC CONCEPT OF LEADERSHIP
The leadership concept in Islam is a trust (amanah) from Allah (s.w.t). From trust , then comes
responsibility (taklif) and followed by accountability (mas uliyyah)7. Amanah literally means trust,
reliability, trustworthiness, loyalty, faithfulness, integrity, honesty and confidence. 8
In Al Qur an, Allah (s.w.t) mentioned that the trust (amanah) was given to mankind since the sky,
the earth, and mountains are afraid to take it as a responsibility because the burden of it is very

The Giant store brand was founded by the Teng family as a simple grocery store in one of the
suburbs of Kuala Lumpur in 1944. Its mission was to offer a wide variety of products at the
lowest possible prices. As its reputation grew, so did its business.
Dairy Farm, which acquired Giant in 1999, recognized that the key to Giant s success had been its
ability to continuously offer value for money products. It retained this core principle even as it
began transforming Giant into a national and international brand.
After six years of effort, which included redesigning the stores, the introduction of the non food
products into the Giant hypermarkets, the implementation of international retail standards that
includes safety, cleanliness, structured training, and a vibrant shopping environment as well as
centralized buying functions and improved operations, Dairy Farm has made Giant the undisputed
leader in Malaysia s retail sector.
In 1999, the first Giant Hypermarket store opened in Shah Alam, Selangor. By 2007, the company
had grown to operate a total of 85 hypermarkets/ supermarkets in Malaysia with outlet size ranging
from the 350,000 sq. ft hypermarket in Shah Alam to the 11,000 sq. ft supermarketin Bangsar,
Kuala Lumpur. The chain also includes 7 stores in Singapore and 15 hypermarkets in Indonesia.
Giant hypermarkets offer a wide range of local merchandise, such as fresh local fruits, vegetables,
and seafood within a wet market environment.

Student Athletes And High School Athletics
A 2016 study by the NCAA revealed that there are nearly eight million students who participate
in high school athletics in the United States, yet only 480,000 of them will compete at NCAA
schools ( Probability of Competing Beyond High School ). Of that approximate 16% who become
a student athlete, an even smaller percent will graduate and become professional athletes. For
example, data from the 2015 NFL Draft demonstrates that there is less than a 2% chance of
playing in the NFL. During the 2015 Draft, there were 72,788 NCAA footballparticipants, only
16,175 of those were draft eligible for the 256 slots which equates to a 1.6% chance of being
drafted to the NFL. According to the NCAA, of the 256 NCAA players selected in the 2015 NFL
draft 236 were from Division IFBS institutions, 17 were from Division I FCS programs, two
were from Division II programs, and only one was from a Division III program. Student athletes
from the power five conferences accounted for for 200 of the 256 draft picks (SEC=54, ACC=47,
Pac 12=39, Big Ten=35, Big 12=25) ( Probability of Competing Beyond High School , 2016).
With there being a small percentage of playing professional sports after college, the importance of
a college degree has become a priority for many student athletes.
Due to the Student Right to Know act from 1990, all colleges and universities are required by
NCAA legislation and federal law to report student graduation rates ( Graduation Rates , 2016). The
data collected is the

Brideshead Revisited Essay
There is a snake in Eden; corruption in paradise. To what extent do you agree that the Brideshead
estate embodies a corrupted paradise in the novel? June 2010 Within the context of pastoral
literature, change is typically seen as a destructive force, intrinsic with the movement away from a
harmony with the natural world towards modernisation and corruption. In Brideshead Revisitedthe
same pattern appears to be followed; moving from the peaceful harmony of Sebastian and Charles
life in Oxford into corruption and turmoil or the shifting power balance between the social classes,
from the nobility to the lower classes. However, change is not exclusively a negative force in the
novel.

Waugh describes their first encounter with the girls at May Mayfield s as a sickly child and
Death s Head , names foreshadowing the downfall and deterioration that will result. It is as a result
of this night that Sebastian is arrested and tried for drunk driving, and introduces them to the
realities of adult life. It is because of this episode that the Marchmain family are shamed in the
newspaper, perhaps worsening Lady Marchmains over reaction to Sebastian s drinking later in the
novel. This illustrates clearly how even in these youthful days that Charles cherishes so much, there
was chaos which corrupted the serene life with Sebastian which he chooses not to dwell on.
Waugh presents corruption in terms of the hierarchy of society, with the nobility exclusively
privileged to positions of power, as nought but as negative through his portrayal of Hooper.
Charles states in the prologue that Hooper is a symbol to me of Young Britain ; notably Hooper
is not presented as an overly inspiring, promising or likeable character. The use of young has
connotations of the working class were just coming of age and beginning to have the means to
hold positions of power and influence, as well as suggesting a major change in the Britain; an old
way of life has been left to be replaced by a new one. It could be argued that Charles is presenting
the traditional world as being corrupted with the changing, modernised world.
Catholicism is a main focus

Aristotle Moral Responsibility Essay
According to Aristotle, we are morally responsible for our actions. Through the analysis of notions
and concepts such as responsibility in terms of voluntary/involuntary actions, incontinence, and
intemperance, we can further understand Aristotle s stance, which is that we are morally
responsible for our actions, and character. I will not only be exploring Aristotle s views, but also
the views of Dr. Dian Hsieh, and Jonathan Barnes, who both reconstruct an argument for moral
responsibility from Aristotle s work. In addition, I will also contrast aspects of Aristotle s view on
moral responsibility, with Jean Paul Sartre s views on the matter as portrayed in Existentialism Is A

If this needs further proof, consider the practice of rewarding and punishing: if men weren t in
control of their behaviour, there would be no point in rewarding and punishing them. But here s
a possible objection: if I am a thoughtless or careless sort of man, then I can t effectively control
my behaviour. That is no excuse, says Aristotle, because you are responsible for having turned
into that man. We influence the development of all aspects of our personalities by how we
choose to spend our time, and what we choose to do; it is obvious that gambling produces
gamblers, and military exercises produces bravery. Although I cannot be a different sort of man
just by deciding to, I remain responsible for encouraging myself to become the sort of man I have
become, just as I cannot stop the stone that I threw at you, although I remain responsible for having
thrown it. Aristotle is confident in holding bad men responsible for their wickedness, and believes
that any argument that could absolve them of their badness would also deprive good men of their
goodness.

  • 2. Phoenix In Eudora Welty s A Worn Path The phoenix was a symbol of fire and power in the past, and among the many warnings it brought forth about plague or other illnesses that may strike the people who come across it. More importantly it was a symbol of rebirth and hope, and in some anglo saxon cultures it was a sign of longevity to see the ashes of a fire bird and a sign of peace to see one reborn. Yet, it would be seen as doubly interesting to look, not only into the meaning of the word and symbol Phoenix, but into the name as well. Why is it that Eudora Weltymade a character, an old and frail black woman with that name? [An] arguement is that this text figures the writing process, that much more than a character sketch, A Worn Pathis a complex analogy of fabulation of invention... Phoenix s traits her blackness, femaleness, age, and apparent poverty challenge the reader... Phoenix means many things in this case, it is the necessary and repetitive trips to the doctor for medicine, the lingering of past ideals, and it is the relentless attitude that made Phoenix continue on to her goal even when deterred.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The man treated her as a frail, incapable, and uneducated being. She was the juxtaposition of the other characters material wealth and self concern with Phoenix s poverty and selflessness, a contrast intensified by their interactions with, and misunderstanding of, her. (Beatha) The man had no more respect for her than he thought he should have, and that, as it was for a long time before, was little no none at all. This lingering hatred is like the very name that Phoenix had, it was repeating, unending, or so it seemed at that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Life Of The Rapa Nui People Research Paper To fully comprehend the cause and effect of collapse and the factors that play into it, one must first understand the definition. Collapse is the counterpart of sustainability; if a society creates a non sustainable way of life then collapse will occur. Sustainability can be defined as the ability to adapt and progress as a civilization economically, ecologically and socially and thus collapse is the inability to adapt effectively in these areas (Thiele). Moreover, although a full fledge collapse can be an extinction of an entire species, unwarranted population displacement, culture and ideology change and suffering are all indicators of a collapse occurring (Diamond). The phenomenon of having a civilization completely wiped off the face of the Earthwith no signs and influence left in the world to be called a true collapse is ambiguous. Declination either gradual or steep, if a civilization has to vastly change their customs and patterns this can be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Entire forests were beginning to vanish as their bark was being used for huts, canoes, harpoons and clothes. The disappearance of trees created a cascading effect in which affected the inhabitants more than they could imagine. Although the soil was not immensely fertile to begin with, the lack of tree roots made the soil turn into sand and unable to grow tropical fruits. The trees and the fruit which grew upon them provided land birds, both a home and a stable food source. Deforestation resulted in a rapid decrease in the bird population, which was a serious threat to food availability. In addition, fish were also stripped away from the Polynesian diet as both overfishing occurred, which declined the population of fish like tuna and the lack of wood in order to make canoes made fishing fleets marginalized. These environmental dangers sparked massive starvation for many of the common ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. My Dream Is A Dream Growing up, my parents moved around a lot. There were times when we lived with relatives, and there were times when we had an apartment or trailer. We never had any money and could never stay in one place for long. As I got older, I heard the speeches they told us kids, such as You can be anything you want when you grow up! and Follow your dreams! But now as I look around, I see fear and misery. People are depressed and angry at how their lives are going. Our government is selling our country to anyone with enough money. News has been reduced to sensationalized, misleading opinion pieces. Rent has gone up. Houseprices have gone up. Gas prices have gone up. All the while, wages have stayed the same. We are losing our privacy to lobbying, our rights are being taken away for the illusion of safety, and our politicians want to remove the safety nets that keep us from losing everything to unforeseen circumstances. This is not a dream, it is a nightmare. I have dreams that I m currently pursuing them. I want a career I love and look forward to when I wake up in the morning. I no longer want to live paycheck to paycheck. I want to love what I do and life a good life. Not once has a goal of mine been to buy a house. I have come to terms with the idea of living in an apartment as long as I keep pursuing my dreams. Houses are simply too expensive. There are enough homes in America to house all the homeless with many houses left over. But they remain abandoned waiting for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Consumerism In Oh Wonder American philosopher Rebecca Goldstein once said, Our society is falling back increasingly on rampant consumerism and self promoting social media as a way for people to feel that their lives matter self centered means of numbing the questions of mattering. In a world caught up in mass media and consumerism, there is an underlying argument that there is a lack of positive social interaction. With the ability to say anything without having a face to face conversation, hate is easier than ever to spread and people can avoid each other yet still interact . According to Dolan, Rock, in particular, has always had an uneasy relationship with mass culture, since it faces the problem of espousing the aesthetics of rebellion and countercultural ideals while at the same time depending on the mechanisms of mass culture for dissemination and distribution. In the case of the bandOh Wonder, they attempt to use their fame to spread ideas of love and compassion. Oh Wonder is the singer/songwriter duo of Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht hailing from London England. Starting off in a separate band and a solo artist respectively, West and Vander Gucht started with the idea to produce a song once a month on Soundcloud and YouTube. Coming from a city with a high Soundcloud following, especially since the early 1990s, many of the most internationally influential genres of electronic dance music have originated in London (Allington), they immediately found success. • 6. Effects Of Anti Babesia Vaccine On The Livestock Industry 4. Discussion Babesia has a worldwide economic importance due to the enormous losses it causes for the livestock industry. A subunit antigen attracted the attention for the development of anti Babesia vaccine (Brown et al., 2006). In this respect, HSPs have emerged as prospective immunostimulatory components for vaccine development (Suto and Srivastava, 1995; Suzue and Young, 1996; Zugel and Kaufmann, 1999). Therefore, we investigated the characterization of a member of the HSP 70 family from B. bigemina. The sequence of BbigHSP 70 was found in the genome sequence database of B. bigemina through the blast search with homologue sequences of B. bovis and B. gibsoni. The sequence of BbigHSP 70 from the Argentina strain was identified by sequencing. Gene has 2 copies in most apicomplexan, but we did not analyze the copy number in B. bigemina; this will be done in a future study. Phylogenetic analysis of the amino acid sequence showed that all intraerythrocytic protozoan parasites, including Plasmodium spp., make one group located outside the paraphyletic group containing eumycetes and vertebrates. Since the HSP 70 of the parasites and hosts do not seem to be closely related, they likely evolved separately. The H SP 70 of Babesia, Theileria and Plasmodium seem to be closely related; therefore, the function of HSP 70 might be similar among these parasites. Jie et al. (1996) suggested that HSP 70 perform functions critical to the survival of B. microti parasites. As described ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. A Critical Analysis Of Michael Vick s Article In previous research done by Kristi Grim she examined the coverage of Michael Vick, an African American quarterback accused of running a dog fighting ring, and Roethlisberger, a white NFL quarterback, who like Vick also had a bright football career and was accused of sexual assault (Grim, 2013). She performed a qualitative research analysis examining the dominant frame in each local newspaper, and how the journalist established the frame in the story. In her research she reviewed the Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC) for stories on Michael Vicks dog fighting accusations, and the Pittsburgh Post Gazette (PPG) for stories involving Roethlisberger s rape accusations (Grim, 2013). In her research she only focused on articles that happened before the district attorney announced Roethlisberger would not be charged, and before Vick was charged to avoid this having an impact on the way the media portrayed the story.... Lightning split the sky with bolts of terrifying power. The ionic cleansing of the air bringing about a sense of change and clarity before a storm of a different nature began. Thor is pleased with us! Listen to how he works his anvil! The god s are with us today! The giant warriors aboard the ship roared in agreement thrusting fist and axe into the sky. Our families at home await our triumphant return just as much as our ancestors look forward to sharing ale with us in Valhalla! Show no fear to these Westerners as they are but frightened deer before us! Protect the brother beside you and fight with honor! With that Leif started slapping the head of his axe against the metal dome which rested in the center of his shield. When the other Norse men did the same, it created an intimidating beat of war. They approached the village in a shield wall formation, in five columns. The men in front carried pilums to skirmish with, while the hirdman made up the middle. A few huscarls who joined them took up the flank of the brigade, each of them holding a two handed Dane axe, capable of crushing through both shield and armor alike. The distant bell of alarm began to sound. No doubt they were spotted before reaching the shore. Sure enough, the first wave of defenders were ready to meet them just beyond the beach head. Everybody picks up fiber when entering a room. I was recently reading about the 10 most fascinating facts about forensic science. People that work in forensics mention that glitter particles are proven to be useful traces of evidence which can dramatically affect the case. Most importantly, glitter is manufactured differently such as the shape, thickness and refraction, which makes it easier to identify in the database. There are thousands of commercial glitters that are linked with art crafts, cosmetics and decorations. In addition, glitter is transferred from the body or clothes, ... Dostoevsky Crime And Punishment Essay The Incarnation of Dostoevsky s World in that of Raskolnikov Abstract This essay examines the social, philosophical, and psychological elements that had affected the Russian Society as well as the world of Dostoevsky s novel Crime and Punishment . • 11. A Truly Beautiful Soul in The Idiot, by Fyodor Dostoyevsky... The Russian novelist Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky stands at the very summit of Russian literature. No 19th century writer had greater psychological insight or philosophical depth. None speaks more immediately and passionately to the mood and tone of the present century. This essay will discuss how Dostoyevskys intent to portray a truly beautiful soulmanifests itself in the novel The Idiot, and access Dostoyevsky s success or failure in achieving his intention. Dostoyevsky confesses in his letter to Maikov dated January 12, 1868 that his desperate situation compelled him to resort to the fascinating and tempting, but nonetheless difficult and premature thought of portraying a wholly beautiful individual. This would suggest that Myshkin could not possibly embody beauty since he is ineffectual and destructive and ultimately inadvertently assists a murder of a physically beautiful woman. I will try to show in my essay though that although this is a deliberately pessimistic and truthful hypothesis, Dostoyevsky does portray a truly beautiful soul . The proposal of The Idiot is to expose the contradiction between worldly and heavenly values: a saint , like Prince Myshkin, is considered an idiot . He doesn t see what everybody sees, because he has got his eyes set not in other people s faces, but in their souls. • 12. Analysis Of Disney Company s Recreation Of Public Domain... Once upon a time there were gripping tales shared between generation to generation and continuously passed down. The listener s focus was on the story s message and not its possible profit allowed those listeners to live happily ever after. Storytelling began long ago traditionally told orally before there was a shift to written stories and eventually as technology developed became a digital market. Some of the most famous digitalized tales are fairy tales. Previous to digital development, copyrightlaws on fairy tales were slim because there was less concern over copying. This is also how the story s focus was more on the message and its creative development than the potential profit. The Walt Disneycompany s recreation of public domainfairy tales demonstraights how copyright laws have hindered artistic creativitity within America. The Walt Disney company, is a beloved as well as infamous company worldwide also notoriously known for their strict copyright laws. Original American copyright laws stated artistic works were protected for 28 years and these laws were eventfully extended to a 56 year time frame. The term continues to increase with the present law set at 75 years. Large companies like Disney continue to fight for stricter and longer laws because of the revenue they will continue to bring it. • 13. Art And The Spectacle In Swamplandia The Contract of Meaning: Art and the Spectacle in Karen Russell s Swamplandia! Karen Russell s Swamplandia! exhibits the incomplete methodology of Formalism and New Criticism, requiring an analysis of literature as the interaction between author and reader. By demanding a combination of authorial intent and the comprehension of the reader, Russell calls for the elimination of the spectacular, and instead, for seeking the sublime. Swamplandia! contends that only through the integration of many distinct perspectives can one find reality, as fantasy derives from designating a singular objective truth. Descriptive Essay On Monument Valley Discovery A trip to visit Monument Valley took me through the mystifying canyons and desert flats of Utah consecrated by the indigenous Navajo people for their natural beauty. I did not realize that my journey on a winding road through the sovereign Navajo Nation would have such a profound effect on me when I first arrived at Monument ValleyNavajo Tribal Park. Amidst the towering auburn stones and fine sands, the Valley began to perform a ballad of whispering winds and endless sky. This performance detailed the relationship between man and nature in Monument Valley and even the largest lens cannot capture the landscape. I began to interpret Monument Valley (see appendix A) and its importance to me as an example of true nature that I encountered early in my childhood in movies. It was naive to believe that my childhood recollections of grayscale Western films did it justice, so I set out on a journey to discover the landscape in person. While my original memories will endure, the enchanting effects of the Valley of the Rocks on my soul is only relivable amidst the great stones of the Colorado Plateau. Revered across the world for its unique physical features, the Colorado Plateau (see appendix B) has become synonymous with natural wonder. • 15. Groundwater Groundwater Pollution Groundwater Pollution with Chlorinated Ethenes Groundwater is water that is located underground between soil particles and in holes, or pores, in the bedrock ( Groundwater, 2011). Because earth has 80 times more groundwater than all the freshwater stored in lakes and streams combined ( Groundwater, 2011), its health has a large influence on the environment. Groundwater also has a large impact on humans; groundwater accounts for about 20% of water used in the US and almost half of water used in households, including drinking water ( Groundwater, 2011). Chlorinated ethenes, also referred to as organochlorides, CVOCs, and chloroethenes, are common groundwater contaminants throughout the world (Zinder Gossett, 1995; Dugat Bony, et al., 2012; Rouzeau Szynalski, Maillard, Holliger, 2010; Ni et al., Rijnaarts, 2014). They are often found in various environmental media near industrial facilities (DobrzyВґnska, PoВґsniak, SzewczyВґnska, Buszewski, 2010). Chloroethenes tend to be persistent in the contaminated groundwater; they remain present indefinitely and are usually not degraded through natural means by any indigenous population (Zaan, et al., 2009; Tas, 2010). Chloroethenes tetrachloroethene (PCE) and trichloroethene (TCE) are the most common type of groundwater pollutant in urban and industrial areas and pose a threat to human health (Lee Lee, 2016). The three main characters are: Karen Silkwood (the main character), Drew Stevens (the boyfriend), and Dolly Pelliker (the roommate). While there are skeptics that believe that global warming is just a hoax, there are many undeniable phenomenons happening around the world. The effects of climate change, in the long run, will be catastrophic if it is left alone. In just the past two months, there have been four hurricanes that made landfall in North America, and a wildfire more aggressive than has ever been seen before, ripping through California, killing forty people and leveling almost six thousand structures. Millions of Americans are displaced due to these unusually aggressive storms and the fires raging throughout California. Arctic species have seen massive reductions in their populations, with less food to eat, and less mates to breed with. The toxicity of the air in urban cities and contamination of waters outside these cities is on the rise. If the world keeps dismissing the importance of climate change, there will be calamitous consequences for the future generations. The effects of climate change, if not fixed, will be Arctic ice melting, reduction in animal populations, habitats threatened, and the air toxicity and seasonal allergies to humans. The question here is; What is the dramatic effect of deception? Does it always lead to a downfall? And did deception always inherently evil? In Shakespeare s plays, deception had many different faces, it could be accidental, well planned, or self inflicted, it also can be evil and pure. Obviously, using deceptionfor evil seems always to let to downfall, however, deception is not always inherently evil, but can also be pure and used as a means to good ends. In each of Shakespeare s four plays Much Ado about Nothing, As You Like It, Hamlet, and Macbeth deception as a theme took many different forms, and lead to different ending in each play, happy ending as it which is used for good, and downfall as it used for evil. In Much Ado about Nothing, deception as a theme seems to surround the whole of the play, it has divided into both, pure and evil deception. This appears in deceiving Claudio and Don Pedro that results Hero s disgrace, and fooling both Beatrice and Benedick to believe that they love each other. Don John plays an essential role of the deception as he was the one who deceive Claudio and Don Perdo to distrust Hero, which lead to the rejection by Claudio of Hero in the wedding. Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906), A Doll s House By Henrik Ibsen Henrik Ibsen (1828 1906), Norway s major playwright and poet during the 19th century, was a pioneer of Western modernism (Wikipedia). His plays founded the realist school of Western theatre and some literary critics even consider him as the father of realism or refer to the rise of Ibsenism (iii) when discussing his work. A Doll s House (1879) is one of the most influential plays in European literature because it created a new, realist style of staging plays, moving away from epic theatrical conventions. He is a selfish and thankless man which urges Nora to leave the family. The play represents a normal middle class family that functions according to the common gender roles of the time. Ibsen uses symbols and images to show the contrast between interrelationship between moral issues and their external manifestation in the play. Torvald dominates his wife, who is servile and resembles a bird in the cage. Torvald frequently refers to her as skylark (4), squirrel, or doll. All of these names belittle her and make her look subservient to him. The antagonists, Mrs. Linde, Mr. Krogstad, and Dr. Rank, the family friend who is in secret love with Nora and suffering from a terminal illness, play a crucial role in the play s dramatic development. These characters are insincere and mirror the moral conflicts between Nora and Torvald. Moreover, Ibsen uses particular symbols to show the moral weakness of Torvald and Nora s marriage. For example, the Christmas tree symbolizes the family. The tree is dead, has no roots to support it, and is put in a place where visitors can see it for ostentation. Torvald and Nora are interested in decorating it with artificial objects rather than enjoying its natural beauty. • 34. Marketing Australia for the Commonwealth Games As a part of the marketing team for the commonwealth games hosted in Glasgow in 2014, I have decided to market in Australia. I have chosen Australia, on account of them winning the event 11 times. Personally, I think they will have a larger a fan base due to the fact they are favourites of winning the event once again. Another reason to why I chose Australiais by virtue of them having a longstanding relationship with Scotland. In 2011 a census was carried out and 103,204 citizens where Scottish Australians and 1,792,600 claimed Scottish ancestry (National Records of Scotland, 2011). Statistics listed in the above will make it more inviting for tourist from Australia to come and watch the Commonwealth games. PEST Analysis POLITICAL The UK Government (Scotland wise) have a strong tie with the Australian Government. VISA processes will be easier to obtain, even though Australia is not in the EU. There is an Australian consulate within Edinburgh. Therefore, families can help other family members back in Australia to attain the UK Visa. In Australia, the Scottish embassy can be located in Sydney, Canberra and Perth. As part of my marketing plan, handing out brochures and flyers about the commonwealth games in Scotland inside all the Consulates and Embassies regarding Scotland and Australia will be incredibly beneficial in receiving more tourists for the event. • 35. The Poems Of Andrea, Fra Lippo, And The Artistic Life At... Browning s intellectual curiosity and vivid interest in men were allied with a singular aloofness from the movements and revolutions of his time. Browning s mind was impervious to doubt, and his confidence in the value of life was constitutionally unshakable, it means intensely, and means good: (Browning, Fra Lippo Lippi, line 314). His vision is so clear and comprehensive that he viewed his subject on numerous planes. He makes his readers see and understand each of his characters in their habit as they lived and thought and purposed. The poems of Andrea, Fra lippo are an epitome of the city s artistic life at the zenith of its fame. Browning s attitude towards Art follows certain characteristic. Firstly, he derives pleasures from every exercise of creative power like the swiftly emerging conception in Fra Lippo s mind, Secondly; he maintains a consistent attitude towards both technique and connoisseurship. The faultless drawing of Andrea del Sarto. Simply betray the impotence when called upon exercise the crucial function of the artist. Duke of Ferrara is soundly equipped with critical taste and knowledge. But he toils not, neither does he spin; he contributes nothing; he is content with the mere pride of possession. Thirdly, creation, technique, is all of them of less significance to him than the soul of artist. This is partly because the artist is in many ways the symbolic figure of humane for him. • 36. History Of Deer Park Water Company Essay Do you ever wonder about the origin story behind the brands that we use in our everyday lives? Well there is a story behind the founding of Deer Park Water Company. After the Civil War, the Deer Park Hotel was built in the Appalachian Mountains located in Maryland by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. The hotel was created to attract those who took passage on the railroad, but the spring that was located nearby also caught the attention of the travelers. The spring was known for the appeal of a clean source of water, this led the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad to start putting the water into bottles in 1873. It was known as the Boiling Spring because the water comes through sand on the way up. A company, known as The Boiling Spring Holding Corporation, purchased the spring and the woods surrounding it in 1966. The Boiling Spring Holding Corporation decided to put the spring to a use and made a profit bottling up the water and selling it mainly throughout the New York area, until production eventually expanded across the nation. Most of the water in the spring is located near the Appalachian Trail. Something interesting about the Deer Park Hotel is that President Taft and his wife had their honeymoon there. Deer Park Water Company is a sub corporation of the Nestle Waters North America Company. Nestle Waters North America was founded in 1976 and started out importing Perrier Sparkling Water before moving on to include regular bottled water. At the time that the company was first ... Noble s daily meals consisted of a variety of meats, and sides of cheese and wine (Gildea 119). Bread and anything grown in the ground was considered peasant food and was not eaten by the nobles at all. This is the way life had been and it slowly began to change in the 1700 s. The scientific revolution and the enlightenment began to alter the everyday life of people in France. Navigation became a huge part of many people s lives. Men began to study the sky s more to figure out where they were on the sea s (Turner 482). The study of the sky led some to make hypotheses about the universe. Student athletes from the power five conferences accounted for for 200 of the 256 draft picks (SEC=54, ACC=47, Pac 12=39, Big Ten=35, Big 12=25) ( Probability of Competing Beyond High School , 2016). With there being a small percentage of playing professional sports after college, the importance of a college degree has become a priority for many student athletes. Due to the Student Right to Know act from 1990, all colleges and universities are required by NCAA legislation and federal law to report student graduation rates ( Graduation Rates , 2016). • 54. Brideshead Revisited Essay There is a snake in Eden; corruption in paradise. To what extent do you agree that the Brideshead estate embodies a corrupted paradise in the novel? June 2010 Within the context of pastoral literature, change is typically seen as a destructive force, intrinsic with the movement away from a harmony with the natural world towards modernisation and corruption. In Brideshead Revisitedthe same pattern appears to be followed; moving from the peaceful harmony of Sebastian and Charles life in Oxford into corruption and turmoil or the shifting power balance between the social classes, from the nobility to the lower classes. However, change is not exclusively a negative force in the novel. The title of book one Et in Arcadia Ego suggests ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Waugh describes their first encounter with the girls at May Mayfield s as a sickly child and Death s Head , names foreshadowing the downfall and deterioration that will result. It is as a result of this night that Sebastian is arrested and tried for drunk driving, and introduces them to the realities of adult life. It is because of this episode that the Marchmain family are shamed in the newspaper, perhaps worsening Lady Marchmains over reaction to Sebastian s drinking later in the novel. This illustrates clearly how even in these youthful days that Charles cherishes so much, there was chaos which corrupted the serene life with Sebastian which he chooses not to dwell on. Waugh presents corruption in terms of the hierarchy of society, with the nobility exclusively privileged to positions of power, as nought but as negative through his portrayal of Hooper. Charles states in the prologue that Hooper is a symbol to me of Young Britain ; notably Hooper is not presented as an overly inspiring, promising or likeable character. The use of young has connotations of the working class were just coming of age and beginning to have the means to hold positions of power and influence, as well as suggesting a major change in the Britain; an old way of life has been left to be replaced by a new one. It could be argued that Charles is presenting the traditional world as being corrupted with the changing, modernised world. Catholicism is a main focus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Aristotle Moral Responsibility Essay According to Aristotle, we are morally responsible for our actions. Through the analysis of notions and concepts such as responsibility in terms of voluntary/involuntary actions, incontinence, and intemperance, we can further understand Aristotle s stance, which is that we are morally responsible for our actions, and character. I will not only be exploring Aristotle s views, but also the views of Dr. Dian Hsieh, and Jonathan Barnes, who both reconstruct an argument for moral responsibility from Aristotle s work. In addition, I will also contrast aspects of Aristotle s view on moral responsibility, with Jean Paul Sartre s views on the matter as portrayed in Existentialism Is A Humanism, in an attempt to improve upon and reveal potential problems... If this needs further proof, consider the practice of rewarding and punishing: if men weren t in control of their behaviour, there would be no point in rewarding and punishing them. But here s a possible objection: if I am a thoughtless or careless sort of man, then I can t effectively control my behaviour. That is no excuse, says Aristotle, because you are responsible for having turned into that man. We influence the development of all aspects of our personalities by how we choose to spend our time, and what we choose to do; it is obvious that gambling produces gamblers, and military exercises produces bravery. Although I cannot be a different sort of man just by deciding to, I remain responsible for encouraging myself to become the sort of man I have become, just as I cannot stop the stone that I threw at you, although I remain responsible for having thrown it. Aristotle is confident in holding bad men responsible for their wickedness, and believes that any argument that could absolve them of their badness would also deprive good men of their goodness. ... • 57. War Essay Weird silence filled the air. It was a cold and relatively peaceful night on January 2005. Almost all citizens hid in their rooms to protect themselves from the war. The sky was completely dark with no light on streets. All of a sudden, the dark silent night was put to an end as six year old Samar Hassan was screaming and crying. A car was approaching in the dark when several American soldiers were patrolling a main road of northern Iraqs Tal Afarwhich was a town rife with insurgents. Concerning that the vehicle might carry insurgents and suicide bombs, the soldiers began to flash lights and waved arms to indicate the car to stop. However, the Hassansdidn t see the sign but kept driving forwards. After receiving a command from an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thousands of Iraqis suffer from the pain and trauma caused by the war, but the story of Samar again stands out. Rakan, Samar s brother, was hit by a bullet in his spin which was the most vulnerable part of our body. He was seriously wounded in the tragedy, and he was sent to Boston for treatment after Hondros s photos were published. Although Rakan was fortunate enough to survive from the tragedy, he was again haunted by death. Rakan died three years after their parents s death when an insurgent attack badly bombing the house where they live in. * * * I remember the first time when my older sister left our family to study aboard for such a long time. It was a normal night dinner was served at 6:30, everyone took their own seat except there was a weird silence during dinner. No one would like to talk but have dinner quietly. I knew that my older sister cried when she said goodbye to us at the airport. It was her and also mine fist time being apart from each other in 17 years. On our way back home, my older sister texted us to read the letter that she hid in the car. I didn t read the letter until I locked my room s door. In the letter, my sister reminded me that I was the one who should take care of both my parent and little brother now. Also, she told me that she trusted me I could do it and she would always be there if I need any help. I cried. I cried so hard. But I could not make any noise so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
