Social Media Research Paper
Ellen DeGeneres couldn t have said it better, Beauty is about being comfortable in your own
skin. It s about knowing and accepting who you are. Imagine yourself in a world where
everyone was confident with his or her looks. How different would your life be? No need for
makeup or stressing to maintain a certain image. Just think of all the time you d save just being
confident with who you are! Statistics show that over 50% of teenage girls are self conscious
about their looks. Social Media is negatively affecting confidence in womanand distorting what true
beauty really is. Apps like Instagram and Twitter constantly lieto women about what true beauty is.
Young Women feel the need to changethemselves to cover up their own flaws and insecurities.
Social media is feeding girls lies on how they should present themselves. This is not right and
needs to stop. Apple has come out with phone applications such as Face Tune which enables the
user to tweak and edit flaws on pictures. There are settings for whitening teeth, covering
blemishes, reshaping ones body and much more. No wonder girls suffer from so many
insecurities! All Face tune does is promote changing ones flaws. Is this not an issue? Who has the
right to call ones different traits a flaw? After all, aren t the things that make us different what
make us unique? More and more girls believe that fixing themselves is okay. We should take pride
in the things that make us unique not feel the need to fix or cover them

My Auntie Yumi s House Was A Place Of Refuge, My Favorite...
My Auntie Yumi s house was a place of refuge, my favorite place. My siblings and I spent a lot of
time there in the years our parents despised each other. We escaped my drunk, avoidant father for
the shade of the century old plumeria tree in Auntie Yumi s front yard. We recoiled from my mother
s violent, hate filled outbursts by retreating to Auntie Yumi s kitchen, where the screenless windows
welcomed cool breezes and feather light drizzle, and the smell of the mosquito punk smoldering
under the kitchen table was like a balm to our bruised minds.
Nearly half of all marriages in the United States end in divorce, but there s still a lot of stigma
surrounding post divorce parents and children. My parents prolonged their tumultuous relationship
in a misguided attempt to maintain a stable environment for their children, but our home life was
anything but stable. This resulted in my siblings and me living in an unhealthy environment that
caused more trauma than a divorce would have. It was my childhood mentor who helped me come
to grips with the guilt and shame associated with my parents breakup and embrace a different, but
healthier, family dynamic.
My Auntie Yumi, my other mother
, is my best friend s mom. Petite, with sparkling upturned eyes,
a lilting Japanese accent, coarse graying hair cut short, and skin turned a dark caramel by days
working in the garden and tending to the animals on her little homestead, she is a life long learner
who in her forties picked up

Discuss How the Characters Of Eddie, Beatrice and Catherine contribute to the dramatic effects of
A View From The Bridge Character Studies The various characteristics, including the flaws of the
characters, act as a great catalyst to the tragedy at hand throughout the play as they portray and
describe the characters emotion and thoughts towards one another. Catherine Catherine is a very
naГЇve woman who has not really experienced much of the world, but is eager to. She has grown up
in a warm nurturing environment and so has grown into a very innocent and open character.

don t think he s even thinking about it and Oh, no, Eddie, I don t think so . However Catherine
finally manages to overcome her doubt in Rodolpho due to the deep trust that she has placed in
him, as she gradually distances herself from Eddie and draws Rodolpho closer. When Catherine
sleeps with Rodolpho she seems to have a new found sense of independence and appears to have
developed a backbone, it is at this point that she completely disconnects herself from Eddie, from
this point on Catherine begins to side against Eddie in arguments and go against his word.
However it is really when Eddie betrays Rodolfo and Marco that Catherine shows how

Constantine Stanislavsky is the Father of Today s Style...
Stanislavsky is the father of today s style of acting. Constantine Stanislavsky (1863 1938) was the
innovator for method acting. He changed the process of acting in which actors immerse themselves
into their characters as much as possible. He wanted acting to change to a realistic art. Stanislavsky
wanted his actors to avoid habitual mannerisms on stage (Worthen, 33). He used a method that
includes five techniques to help an actorsubmerge into their characters. The magic if, re education,
observation, motivation and emotional memory are all techniques Stanislavsky used to help mold
his actors (Bradford).
The first technique requires the actor to use their imagination. The magic if requires the actor to
ask themselves what my character would do in this situation. The next technique used is
reeducation. Whether it s being onstage to a live audience or on film, actors need to find a way to
display true human life movement. When figuring out body movement or body language actors
must think of every action as part of their character. Stanislavsky encouraged his students to
observe people whenever possible. He encouraged them to study their physical traits as well as
their personality. Stanislavsky reminded his students that every person is unique and therefore each
unique trait should be exhibited. The technique is a very valuable tool because actors often find
inspiration by observing others. Actors often ask themselves what is my motivation? This process
entails a lot of why

aTitle: A review of core issues relating to the global adoption of genetically modified foods.
As we are confronted by more and more information, it is of great importance that as global citizens
we endeavour to form our own conclusions by thoroughly analysing factual data. Often information
we are presented with can carry a vast undertone of additional, and usually bias information, which
conveyed through language, body language, and even in extreme, but uncommon instances,
subliminal messaging. Professionals in environmental management must be able to efficiently draw
unbiased conclusions by filtering large quantities of information and communicate their findings
effectively. In environmental management, global issues typically... Show more content on

Too few rats were also used in the control groups with only 10 of each sex.
This paper will be useful in demonstrating the extent of obvious bias seen across much of the
research about GM foods. It was also purposely designed to mimic the methods used in Monsanto s
paper (Hammond et.al 2004). It claims to provide strong contradictory views that can be used in
setting the context of the debate. The flaws present in experimentation and obvious intention of
generating publicity can be elaborated in assessing key elements of the controversy.

Several countries have legalized marijuana. This would not be possible if the repercussions were

proven to be efficient in the treatment of various ailments. It has therapeutic effects and has been
used since 1965 as a medicine (Syrakic et al. 92). The medicinal component of marijuana is known
as cannabinoids and it was initially extracted and purified in 1965 (Syrakic et al. 92). Since then,
more than four hundred chemicals have been extracted from marijuana (Syrakic et al. 92). This
justifies the medical significance of the drug. It is used expansively to treat various ailments.
Dronabinol, for example, is an extract from marijuana and a certified antiemetic for cancer patients
undergoing chemotherapy (Syrakic et al. 92). It also stimulates the appetite in patients suffering
from AIDS (Syrakic et al. 92). AIDS and cancer are terminal illnesses that lead to several deaths all

Naguib Mahfouz Fountain and Tomb Essay
In the novel Fountain and Tomb by Naguib Mahfouz, the reader is thrown into a small alley in
Cairo, Egypt in the 1920s. The narrator is an adult reliving his childhood through many random,
interesting vignettes of his youth. We learn about many different aspects of Egyptian life from
political rebellion, to arranged marriages, to religious devotion, to gang warfare. We are led to
conclude that one of the major themes of the book is Truth. We come to question whether Truth is
something that alwaysneeds to be known. Will the Truth ultimately do more harm than good? Is
there ever a time when the Truth must be told? Are there times when it s better for the Truth to
never be known?
Truth is constantly sought out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story ends with the son supposedly helping his father pass away so he won t be forced to
return his fortune. This is a case where the father thought it was necessary for the Truth to come
out, but where did it leave his family? So we wonder, is the Truth always the best thing to be told?
Can it do more harm than good? In this case it did. Truth only brought about more pain, conflict,
and trouble than if it had not been told.
When our narrator is conversing with Anwar Gilel on the fountain steps, Gilel has made an
astounding realization. I ve just realized that I m a student among competing students in a school
which throws together students from antagonistic little lanes, in an alley in the middle of warring
alleys, that I m a creature among millions of creatures both seen and unseen on a ball of mud
awhirl amid a solar system over which I have no control, that this solar system is itself lost in
endless space ... It goes on and he asks the narrator whether the sun will come up tomorrow. I d
take bets on it, the lad answered. Gilel ends the argument by saying, Blessed are the ignorant, for
they are happy (Mahfouz, 115). Gilel also has realized that what people don t know is sometimes
better for them. It makes them feel better, safer, and happier. And we wonder which is more
important, knowing the Truth, or knowing enough of the Truth to keep us satisfied with life and
happy. In this story we notice that by

Literary Analysis Of Blackberry Eating By Galway Kinnell
Galway Kinnell speaks about the act of eating delicious blackberries in his poem Blackberry
Eating. The author starts out his poem with a narrative on his tangible experiences when eating the
fruit, but the poem later transitions into the topic of writing words. The topic of eating
blackberries serves as an analogy for language and how perplexing yet marvelous it truly can be.
This speaks to how poetrycan be used as a medium to discuss the complexities existing in language
itself and how these complexities can show how poetry encapsulates this artistic literary form.
Blackberry Eating uses alliteration, repetition and specific word choice to convey the image of
physically eating a blackberry while alluding to the tactile process of... Show more content on

Kinnell s brilliant use of alliteration is not the only literary device that is effectively used to
deliver his analogy, he also uses repetition to reference the connection with sound and imagery.
Repetition is important because it reiterates the idea wanting to be conveyed. In line 2, Kinnell
repeats black in the same line, black blackberries (2). For this poem repetition is used effectively
in that Kinnell is constantly repeating the word black in blackberry; it reminds the audience
subconsciously of the sound that the words black and blackberry make. In fact the word black
is used seven times throughout the ninety word poem. By repeating certain words, the poem
gives emphasis to a particular topic or theme it wants to convey. In Blackberry Eating Kinnell
also uses repetition to emphasize the imagery narrated in this poem. By stressing the black color
of this berry, it allows readers to truly capture the picture Kinnell is painting of the berry as well
as the sound the word black makes. This alludes to the topic of choosing words which is shown in
the second half of the poem.
In addition to using such literary devices to exemplify sound and imagery, Kinnell picks out words
in his poem while discussing the process of choosing words.

Reduction In Force Process
Administrators are very important for all companies as they are assigned sensitive and specific
roles that make certain the company operates at its optimum capacity. At the same time,
administrators ensure all employees perform their expected duties within the company. Among all
the roles the administrators are assigned, conducting a Reduction In Force (RIF) in the company is
one of them. Reduction in the workforce in any company should be handled professionally and
amicably whilst ensuring that the company, the administration, and the employees are all in
understanding at that point. The termination of an employee s employment or contract should only
take place when a company can no longer sustain the entire workforce in addition to not meeting its
goals and objectives. As an administrator, there are several ways that the reduction in force process
should be conducted at the same time as observing various laws that protects employees from
sudden termination of their employment.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The RIF process is a complicated process that should not be conducted in a hurry as it increases
the chances of litigation if an employee feels he has been unfairly dismissed by the company (Gray,

creating a logical timeline that states how the RIF will be done. The timeline ensures that all
decisions that are made will have been thoroughly deliberated, the creation of proper documentation,
and ensuring all involved parties work together. The timeline also ensures that the employer studies
the timeline accurately to make sure that specific groups of employees will not suffer in this

The Hungry Tide By Amitav Ghosh
It is no wonder that how advanced the world may be, there are still a number of human beings, who
struggle a lot for their survival; These are the human beings, who are pushed to the margins for the
reasons unknown to them, these are the human beings, who are denied a secured place in the world

them, their history too is marginalized. Being neglected by the mainstream history, this
marginalized history, sometimes has to transform itself and settle in fiction in order to come into

wave of migration consisted of large number of low caste Hindus. When the upper caste Hindus
migrated, it was easy for them to get support and shelter. They were able to find a safe haven in the
homes of their affluent friends and relatives. But that was not case with the low caste refugees.
Unable to find any shelter and support, these Dalit refugees squatted on public and private land.
Ghosh s The Hungry Tide takes this part of the history as its source and tactfully presents the

the exception of her mother, find Eliza beneath them. Eliza s thoughts and actions to some extent

Boyer is condescending and demonstrates her idea of an excellent partner (27). Lucy, like most
women at the time, found marriage to be a way of securing a socially and financially affluent
future; her description of Mr. Boyer, whose taste, manners and morals, are highly regarded,
supports the materialism of the time period. Baker finds that The Coquette is considered a tragic
novel in that it depicts the seduction and fall of a young woman, and the reader can track the tragic
disintegration of Eliza Wharton against her flagging commitment to precision and clarity in her
language, her mode of self expression; however, it seems that Eliza possesses the intelligence, as
well as the sophistication to understand. Foster s emphasis on the value of language alerts the
reader to another movement in the novel, one that the reader might celebrate: the voice of her
society is awakened to its compromised public voice regarding virtue, honor, and friendship. Eliza s
queries on language throughout the novel are ultimately shifted to her female circle, whose
members recognize the need for their language to reflect more clearly the reality of their world

Organized Crime In The 1920s Essay
After World War I, the attitude of Americans in the United States changed drastically. For the first
time, more people lived in cities than in rural areas (Danzer 640). Trends including superficial fads,
professional sports, new types of music, and the idea of celebrities represented the establishment of
pop culture during the Roaring 20s (Fagnilli 46). Challenging the values and practices of the
traditional American, many individuals, usually young people, introduced casual dating, more
revealing clothing, birth control, and new styles of dancing (Fagnilli 45 46). Although the 1920s
were considered the good times, there was a darker side to this era, including a rise in
unemployment, organized crime, and an irrational fear of communism. In the 1920s, many citizens
were left without a job as unemployment rates increased. During World War 1, the United Stateshad
established a butter to guns policy, meaning they shifted much of the production of consumer
goods to production of war materials (Fagnilli 39). However, most of the nine million people who
had worked in war... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Prohibition actually led to a rise of organized crime in the United States (Sullivan). The
18th Amendment was disregarded by many Americans, who opened secret drinking clubs called
speakeasies (Danzer 642). The public needed a provider of this illegal alcohol, leading to the rise
of crime organizations (Sullivan). Many of these organizations specialized in bootlegging alcohol,
usually from Canada or the Caribbean (Sullivan). The Chicago Outfit, a criminal network led by Al
Capone, often literally killed off their competition, massacring members of rival gangs and crime
organizations (Sullivan). Eventually, many came to believe Prohibition was the cause of these
problems, and the 18th Amendment was repealed by the 21st Amendment in

Initially Merkel was against giving bailouts. Thus with the Greco European crisis being the
forefront, Merkel pushed for greater private sector investors to absorb some of the rescue burden.
She saw to it that European Union bureaucrats went to Athens where they quietly insisted on simple
but important things like shortened vacations for the civil servants, higher taxes on swimming
pools and lower expenditures on public housing (Applebaum, 2013). In consideration of these
reforms, Angela Merkel stated at political rally in Germany It s not just about getting any further

pension before their German counterparts. We all have to put in some effort. This is important, we

A Study On The Concord Waterfall
Grenada is one of the islands in the Caribbean that has the potential to capture both local and

have ensued in establishing this product on the market. This study is mainly based on the principles
of ................................ and how it can be applied or is applied to the Concord Waterfall which is
the focus of my study. The Concord Waterfall is an ideal location to invest in the area of eco,
health and wellness tourism.
Presently, in the Caribbean region health and wellness sector has an estimated value of USD 180
million. Although the health and wellness sector has the ability to contribute significantly to the
region s development, it is still due to the lack of integrated strategies among the Caribbean
countries to cater to the development of this sector of the countries. To compare, Thailand s export
of health and beauty products in 2005 was estimated at $8.72 million USD according to
Department of Export Promotion while the Spa industry generated a staggering $155 million USD
in revenue increasing year on year (Tourism Intelligence International (TII) 2009). This trend stands
to be the most compelling argument for pursuing Wellness Tourism development in Grenada who is
geographically much closer to the significant USA and UK markets and speak the same language.

understood St. Jude Medical to be a leader in this medical device field. Now however, Abbott Labs
needs to possibly reconsider how their subsidiary organizes their management. The problem St.
Jude Medical is having right now is not only a device problem nor a cultural problem, but it is a
management problem and their inability to properly handle possible recalls in the industry. Recalls
are not uncommon, but it is how companies handle these recalls. Are they ahead of the game? Do
they understand their products, and know what actions need to implement when things go wrong?
Abbott Labs may have to take control of the management of St. Jude Medical. Abbott Labs has
211 executives and St. Jude Medical has many additional executives themselves (Unknown,

question is how far does Abbott Labs go down in the chain of command. Will they go as far as
down as lower management, for example: Field Directors, or will they stand back and let St. Jude

runs their management style. There are too many signs that there is a lack of leadership within the

Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption Analysis
In the novella Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King, banker Andy
Dufresne is wrongfully convicted of murder and sent to Shawshank Prison. Andy s shrewd
nature and sense of self worth become valuable tools that allow him to thrive in prison under the
harsh authority of the warden, Samuel Norton. King uses Norton to demonstrate that corruption
is present throughout society and that the perception of good and evil can be altered depending
on who presents a story. King uses the characterization of Norton to argue that corruption has
permeated all classes of society. Norton is a practicing Christian. Christians typically believe
that one must be pious to get into heaven, and that it is important to help sinners repent so they
can also go to heaven. Norton gives every inmate a Bible and has a sampler on the wall that says
His Judgement Cometh and That Right Early , showing he is aware of this tenet. However, he
also runs a corrupt business profiting off the prison s Inside Out program. He doesn t pay the
inmates for their labor, cuts corners on supplies, and accepts bribes. Red explains: [Norton] was
the foulest hypocrite that I ever saw in a high position... he of the Testaments and the thirty year
church pin, was passed a good many thick envelopes under the table (57). Prisons are supposed to
house criminals and prevent the perversion of society but Norton is a free man, implying that

Critical Analysis Of Robert Reich s Inequality For All
In the documentary titled Inequality for All , Robert Reich attempts to describe to the audience
and his students reasons for the income inequality found in the United States. Inequality for All
showed an endearing and caring side of Reich, where he made himself seem human and fallible. I
found myself personally enjoying this side of him, the short aging man who, although a Rhodes
Scholar drives a Cooper and holds himself above politics.
After reflection and research, one can quickly see where Mr. Reich uses emotion and imagery to
build a false argument. His attempts to pull the emotional strings of the audience begin with his
extreme shortness caused by a medical affliction. We move to Reich driving an inexpensive car
with a manual transmission. Then we meet a woman having difficulty making ends meet and
crying while relating her story. Reich shows the audience and his students a Dow Jones Industrial
Average (DJIA) graph with a hockey stick curve so sharp it was astounding. I had to pause the
film so I could research this graph as the visual was so extraordinary. I found an online interactive
graph of the DJIA using data for the last 8 or 9 decades. I could not create any data set that
produced the theatrical image shown in the film. This, however, is typical Robert Reich, shocking
graphs with no numbers. He just uses them as pictures to demonstrate an emotional point, never
mind there is no substance, just emotion.
Attempting to illustrate the income inequality, we were introduced to the graph showing a U
shaped curve . Reich, Saez and Piketty wanted to present that curve represented income disparity
from 1900 to present day. Reich and his cohorts wanted to focus on the timeline of the graph from
around 1920 to 1940. It seems this was a time where the income differential was much less than
present day and they want to get back to that time.

film, Forrest Gump, is a romantic drama riddled with comedy. The plotline follows Forrest Gump

Dictatorship Vs Dictatorship
What is government? How does it affect me? Why should I care? What is the best kind of
government? These are the questions people ask every day. These are questions that potentially
impact us as people. People have asked What is the role of government? There has never been a
definite answer and there might never be one agreed upon answer.
What I Knew
Government. This has always been a subject that I have been very interested in. I remember when
I was a little kid in second grade and my Dad took me down to the voting booth let me go with
him to fill out his ballot. It was an experience that has stayed with me for a very long time. I
remember being told that I should always try to know what our government is doing and form my
own opinions on subject. However, I was also taught to listen to the people around me and that is
what government should be, or at least that is what a representative government is. The way our
government runs effects all of us, and in the coming future, I would like my profession to be based
on the question What is the role of government?
There are many different forms of government such as a dictatorship and democracy. These two
governments are very different from each other. There are many different sub categories in both
democracy and dictatorship. A dictatorship in my words would be a government that is ran by one
or a small group of individuals and are all powerful. A dictatorship is usually more efficient

Essay on Religion, Creation Stories, and Creation Myths
Religion, Creation Stories, and Creation Myths
One of the fundamental questions that religions seek to answer is that of origin. How was man
put on earth? Why and from what was he created? Who created him? What does his creation
imply about the status of human beings? Some or all of these questions are answered by a religion
s creation stories. Every religion s creation myths attempt to give solutions to problems present to
that religious society. Because of this, each religion may have one or more creation stories, each of
those different from one another in the questions they ask and the answers they give.
Genesis
In the Western world, the most well known creation story is in Genesis (Myth A), in the Old
Testament of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also in this chapter, man alone was created first, then animals, and then woman an ordering that
goes against that of Genesis I. Also, instead of creating man and woman together, man was created
first, from the dust of the ground after which God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. Then,
while Adam was sleeping, God took from Adam one of his ribs and created Eve, or woman.
Another difference between the two versions of Creation, more noticeable than the afore
mentioned, is in their answer of why man was created. In Genesis I, man was created to rule
over all the animals. In fact, a section of Genesis I:26 reads and let [man] have dominion over
the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and
over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. In contrast, Genesis II:5 claims that man
was created because there was no one to till the ground. The variation in each chapter s answer to
why man was created provides differing implications for the status of mankind. In Genesis I, man
is supposed to be the supreme ruler, while in Genesis II, man was created merely as a servant of
the land. Western religions, when viewing the status of humans, tend to take the first interpretation
as indication of man s role on earth, believing him to be superior to all other species.
Ignoring the inconsistencies, these two chapters seem to complement each other quite well.

Foil Characters In Romeo And Juliet
William Shakespeare is the greatest playwright in the history of the world, and one of his most
famous tragedy plays is Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is about
two star crossed lovers Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet. Their families are in a feud and
brawls have taken place between these two families. Romeo s personality can be viewed
differently from different parts of the play with the other characters he is around. At one point of
the play he can be seen as a positive, tranquil man and the next moment later he is a vicious,
stubborn person. Using foils Romeo s character is developed by contrasting through Friar
Laurence s wise personality, Balthasar s loyal personality, and Benvolio s peaceful personality.
Friar Laurence develops Romeo s character through his wise personality making Romeo look

Title:
BIODEGRADATION OF PESTICIDES IN SOIL ENVIRONMENT
Introduction:
Wise use and preservation of the soil recourses of a country can transform a poor society into a
prosperous one (Miller and Donahue 1992)
Agriculture is a key sector in the world economy where the competition between the countries is
of great importance in terms of the production. It also contributes about 25% of GDP of Pakistan
and provides livelihood directly to 70% of its rural population. In these conditions, pesticides are
commonly used to reach a definite quantity and quality of agricultural productions. Their
generalised use is attributed to (i) increase the quantitative and qualitative yields (ii) limit the
irregularities of crop production linked to the great parasitic catastrophe (iii) protect the food
reserves and many more. It has been estimated that about 3000 5000 tones of pesticides are used
predominately only in Cotton growing areas of Pakistan (ESCAP Virtual Conference June 16,

Summary Of Beethoven Sonata First Movement

T252 Conditional Pass Analysis Paper
Fall 2014
Beethoven s Waldstein Sonata First Movement
Piano Sonata No. 21 in C major, Opus 53 is one of the most technically challenging and
compositionally ambitious piano sonatas by Beethoven. The name of the sonata, Waldstein , is
derived from Beethoven s dedication, Count Ferdinand Ernst Gabriel von Waldstein of Vienna, a
long time close friend and patron of the composer. Composed from 1803 to 1804, it is one of the
most important pieces of Beethoven s middle period and surpasses all the earlier sonatas in scope,
power, and energy. Like many other major pieces around the time the piece was composed,
Beethoven was constantly augmenting the sonata form, giving significantly more ... Show more

The key characteristic of this five note cell is that it is entirely composed of step wise motion. This
feature would affect the melodic and harmonic choices of the movement s composition, as the
movement is almost entirely built on step wise motion. Because of the step wise quality of the
movement, the primary harmonic motion is an oscillation between tonic and dominant chords.
The movement begins quite solidly in C major as the first component of the theme (figure 2),
which we will call component A, is a repeating eight note C major chord which hammers the tonic
tonality into the listeners minds. This component ends with an ascending three note step wise
motion in the right hand into the dominant of the key, with the second note being a sharpened F,
temporarily tonalicizing the dominant, suggesting the idea to the listeners that the beginning C
major chords may instead be serving a subdominant function to G. In measure 3 and 4, the left
descends into B, serving as a bridge to the upcoming flat VII to smooth out the jarring key shift.
We will call the right hand motif in measure 3 as component B and the one in measure 4 as
component C. All three motifs would come back later as important building blocks of the
movement. Beethoven confuses the listeners further as we progress into measure 5. The first four
measures are repeated, but the music

Essay about Kmart Corporate Strategy
Historical Background
Kmart started off as a discount retailer successfully pioneering the same concept as that of F. W.
Woolworth. As stores began to grow and diversify, Kmart stepped in and took the lead role in
offering a one stop shopping center that fulfilled everyone s needs. As new niches began to emerge
offering larger, more specialized stores, Kmart hit a major hurdle. The successful management
strategies it had developed early on were now outdated and in major need of being renovated to
coincide with changing market place and customer values. As Kmart attempted to revolutionize its
image and infrastructure, stores such as Target and Wal Mart took over as the leaders in the
discount retailer arena. As Kmart s image began to sink ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Brutality, Injustice And Rebellion
Both the novels provide an interesting perspective on revolution and demonstrate a period of
brutality, injustice and rebellion. The Kingdom of this world by Alejo Carpentier accounts the
Haitian Revolution and the destruction of the black regime, while Mother of 1084 narrates the
suppression of the Naxalites in Bengal. Also both texts focus more on the rebellionagainst the
revolution than the revolution itself. The interesting fact about Carpentiers text is that he goes
against the general assumption of slaves as victims and through his characters, particularly Ti
Noel, Macandal, and Bouckman presents slaves who are rebellious and powerful. On the contrary
he portrays the Europeans as self indulgent and cowards. Several accounts of revolutions in the
past have silenced slave rebellions and exalted the colonial enterprise but Carpentier did not
suppress the voices of the slave and presents his story from the perspective of slaves. He also
privileges African beliefs and cultural practices like Voodoo spiritualism, thereby sanctioning
African belief systems.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

portrays this through the character of Macandal who is shown to have mystical power to change

Advantages Of Islamic Banking
1.0Overview
Islamic banking refers to a system of banking that complies with Islamic law, also known as
Shariah law. The underlying principles that govern Islamic banking are mutual risk and profit
sharing between the provider of capital (investor) and the user of funds (entrepreneur). In other
words, it ensures an equal contribution for all parties involved, whether in profitability or in case of
any loss occurred. Activities that involve interest (riba), gambling (maisir) and speculative trading
(gharar) are prohibited (Bank Negara Malaysia, 2010). Islamic banking is interest free banking;
making it compulsory to take active part in business profit and loss sharing. Islamic banks prefer
to take less risk (Shaikh Jalbani, 2009)

In this system, conventional banks make profit through the different rates of interest by borrowing
and lending of money. However, one of the drawbacks of conventional banking is that it is
prohibited from trading in the shareholding of the borrowing concern. (Shahid H. , et al., 2010).
The performance of all the banks in the country may not necessarily be on the positive side
especially since the recent financial crisis of 2007. Banks have managed to pull through but not
without some being injured in terms of stock prices or profits. In 2002, the Malaysian government
started the implementation of the banking sector reformation in respond to the 1997 financial
crisis. Under the reform plan, Malaysian government guided the merger activities in the banking
sector through the central bank. Prior to that date, the banking sector was made up of 54 domestic
deposit taking institutions which became ten large capitalized banks by the end of 2002. (Ahmad,

Positive And Negative Attitudes Of Eugenics
Introduction Eugenics means well born. In America there were two types of Eugenics positive and
negative. Positive did not sound so bad. Positive eugenics just meant that those who had positive
attributes should be encouraged to reproduce. Negative eugenics on the other hand was the idea
that those deemed unfit should be limited in their reproduction (Genetics and society, 2017). Laws
and policies established by the government that encouraged this practice.
Current eugenics are focused on scientific techniques such as breeding. Breeding ensures that
specific characteristics that one is looking for are passed on. This idea is Similar to that of positive

They recommend that women that did not belong to the poorest class should be encouraged to have

founder of Planned Parenthood held some ideals that would classify her as a eugenicist. The
American eugenics movement that Margaret identified with believed in negative Eugenics.
Therefore she believed in limiting the reproduction of people they believed unfit. At this time it was
largely Mormons, who the eugenics believed were immoral, unintelligent ultimately unfit but the
poor and other racial groups were included. She advocated for forced sterilization of the mentally
ill, diseased, and the poor with two children. She also believed that affluent women could obtain
birth control easily and were using it regularly (Critchlow, 1995).
She believed that poor women did not have access to contraceptives therefore were more likely to
have an abortion (Critchlow, 1995). Though Margaret had eugenic views she was not in any
eugenic organization originally. She had a hard time from eugenists. They did not want to support
her movement, until they realized that women from affluent communities were already using birth
control. The eguenists came to the conclusion that they would be outnumbered by the unfit, so

The machine being used for the operation has a tax basis book value of $80,000, with an annual
depreciation expense of $8,000. It has a resale value today of $40,000, is in good working order,
and will last, physically, for at least 10 more years. The proposed machine will perform the
operation so much more efficiently and Baltic engineers estimate that labor, material, and other
direct costs of the operation will be reduced $60,000 a year if it is installed. The proposed
machine costs $240,000 delivered and installed, and its economic life is estimated at 10 years,
with zero salvage value. The company expects to earn 14 percent on its investment after taxes (14
percent is the firm s cost of capital). The tax rate is 40 percent, and the firm uses straight line

Capitalism And Urbanization In America
Urbanization already took hold on the east coast and slowly transitioned to the west coast.
Capitalism and industrialization found a new home with the mass immigration waves.
Manufacturing and mass production of clothing led to the popularization of these jeans. The
influence of clothes often plays a central role in the manifestation and preservation of social
standards. An emerging consumer culture emerged from the mines and from the need for
clothes that would sustain extreme elements and long laborious work schedules. Identity
becomes an important issue with the advent of mass consumption. Consumption in many ways
changed social norms during this time. Elements like dynamics of personal identity and mass
consumption reveal how cultural values are in constant cycles of being made and remade through
every day transactions.
Mass manufacturing of textiles and clothing arguably directly or indirectly affected the
economic growth of California and even the west coast. Additionally, mining booms in the west
demonstrated the growing co dependency of economies across the globe. Social and Economic
growth of the gold rush affected the United States. Additionally, while social upheaval reshaped
the population of the eastern U.S., the Pacific coast, instantaneously grew from an outpost to an
economic region rivaling affluence of the eastern establishment.

Reflections on Research Based Writing Essay
If we understand library users as readers who write, we should reflect on when and why they write.
Generally, most users in academic libraries engage in writing based on research or research based
writing. How are we to understand this particular genre that consumes so many users time and
instructors assessment.
Consider first what research based writing is not. It is not creative writing, although creative writers
will often research some aspect of their subject. It is not journalistic writing, although the journalist
makes steady use of sources. It is not writing for publication, since it seldom finds an audience of
more than five. It is not an essay, although it has a beginning, middle, and end. Eliminating these

The author s opinions will be based on reasons and evidence, not emotions or hearsay. The author
s reasoning will follow the principles of Western reasoning, if only informally. The evidence used
will have a logical link to the reasons they support. Evidence itself will be a verifiable fact.
Furthermore, research based writing seeks a plausible (not conclusive) answer to a question of
interest to the readers. The overarching purpose for writing is to show why the reader should
accept that answer. This includes acknowledging and responding to possible alternative answers to
the question. Others ideas are used to find or support claims, reasons, or evidence but cannot to be
presented as the writer s own. Even though the writer may come to the same conclusion as others
who have addressed the issue before, he or she must present the answer and its supporting reasons
as the product of an one s own investigation, being careful to acknowledge when and how others
contributions have been utilized. The reader expects to see all this written in standard edited
English with few (or no) errors in spelling, grammar, or punctuation.
Often research based writing is a solitary exercise. For non academics and many librarians,
research based writing has been rarely practiced outside the classroom, and many of the processes
may not be familiar or practiced only informally. It requires a basic skill set that new students may

Essay on heroin
Society today has been clouded and somewhat overtaken by social drugs. Wherever you may
look, a drug is being used, whether it is more commonly a cigarette being smoked on the street, or
the covert teens smoking marijuana in secluded areas. In any case, there is not one person who
can say drug use is not prevalent, since society has made it clear through news, music and everyday
life. However, there are certain drugs that seem to be worsethan others, and society once again has
taught us that through our laws and restrictions. The worse the drug, the more you pay for having
it. Basically, drugs have become a part of our life, and you never know when they can land on your
doorstep.

Heroin, a white powder, was created in 1874, and was sold as a safe substitute for morphine.
However, it was discovered that heroin produced a quick dependency in people. Heroin and other
opiates were made illegal in 1920 as part of the Dangerous Drugs Act. Still today, however, Heroin
is illegally manufactured and imported, largely from the Indian sub continent.
As well as killing pain, moderate doses of pure opioids produce a range of mild effects. They
depress the activity of the nervous system, including such reflexes as coughing, breathing and heart
rate. They also cause widening of the blood vessels, which gives a feeling of warmth and reduces
bowel activity, which causes constipation.
Heroin itself can be taken in three ways, injecting a solution of heroin and water into your vein,
snorting it, or inhaling it. A person will receive maximum effects if they inject it. Basically
heroin makes people feel as if they are in a state of Euphoria for a small amount of time, and cause
people to be drowsy warm and content, which kind of detaches you from pain.
After Heroin is injected or inhaled, it crosses the blood brain barrier, and once in the brain, it is
converted to morphine and will bind with opioid receptors. This transferring is what gives the user
their rush, and the more of the drug, the faster it binds and the stronger the rush. Heroin

Leadership Qualities Of The Movie We Were Soldiers Essay
I can t promise you that I will bring you all home alive. But this I swear, before you and before

So help me, God.
LT. Colonel Hal Moore The quote above personifies what type of person LT. Colonel Moore was. In
today s society you will rarely find individuals such as LTC. Hal Moore that exhibit those rare
qualities of what a leader should be. In this essay I will describe some of the leadership qualities that
are displayed in the movie We Were Soldiers. I will also discuss how the characteristics were
portrayed, evaluate the success or lack of for each, apply a real life situation and explain how his
leadership style affected those who followed.
The first of the leadership qualities that I will mention being proactive versus reactive.
According to the Holden Leadership Center at the University of Oregon (2009) being proactive
is that The exceptional leader is always thinking three steps ahead. Working to master his/her own
environment with the goal of avoiding problems before they arise. During the movie the soldiers

Medical Differences Between The Civil War And Spanish...
Nareg D Mr. Haveron Final Essay 16 March 2015 Medical Differences between the Civil War
and Spanish American War The nineteenth century held one of the most medically appalling
wars, as well as one of the most medically innovative wars. The Civil war is considered a terrible
time period for medical equipment as well as surgeons. Many soldiers who had been fighting in
the Civil War were killed by sicknesses including diarrhea and pneumonia. Surgeons, who had
minimum medical experience, were taking care of the wounded soldiers at the time. The idea of
sanitizing and sterilizing equipment that was used on a patient beforehand was not known by the
inexperienced surgeons. Only a few years later came the Spanish American war, which showed a
vast improvement in the medical field. During the Spanish American War many important
inventions were created. These include the invention of the x ray, the discovery of the germ
theory, and the discovery of the antiseptic method. Both of these discoveries made it much easier
for Surgeons to operate on the wounded soldiers. Another beneficial factor that made the Spanish
American War more medically advanced then the civil war was the service of female nurses. The
Nurses provided a lot of help for the surgeons at times when there was a lot of work, and assistance
was needed. It is clear that the medicinal techniques used during the Civil War were much less
advanced than those used during the Spanish American War. The North

  • 2. Social Media Research Paper Ellen DeGeneres couldn t have said it better, Beauty is about being comfortable in your own skin. It s about knowing and accepting who you are. Imagine yourself in a world where everyone was confident with his or her looks. How different would your life be? No need for makeup or stressing to maintain a certain image. Just think of all the time you d save just being confident with who you are! Statistics show that over 50% of teenage girls are self conscious about their looks. Social Media is negatively affecting confidence in womanand distorting what true beauty really is. Apps like Instagram and Twitter constantly lieto women about what true beauty is. Young Women feel the need to changethemselves to cover up their own flaws and insecurities. Social media is feeding girls lies on how they should present themselves. This is not right and needs to stop. Apple has come out with phone applications such as Face Tune which enables the user to tweak and edit flaws on pictures. There are settings for whitening teeth, covering blemishes, reshaping ones body and much more. No wonder girls suffer from so many insecurities! All Face tune does is promote changing ones flaws. Is this not an issue? Who has the right to call ones different traits a flaw? After all, aren t the things that make us different what make us unique? More and more girls believe that fixing themselves is okay. We should take pride in the things that make us unique not feel the need to fix or cover them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Auntie Yumi s House Was A Place Of Refuge, My Favorite... My Auntie Yumi s house was a place of refuge, my favorite place. My siblings and I spent a lot of time there in the years our parents despised each other. We escaped my drunk, avoidant father for the shade of the century old plumeria tree in Auntie Yumi s front yard. We recoiled from my mother s violent, hate filled outbursts by retreating to Auntie Yumi s kitchen, where the screenless windows welcomed cool breezes and feather light drizzle, and the smell of the mosquito punk smoldering under the kitchen table was like a balm to our bruised minds. Nearly half of all marriages in the United States end in divorce, but there s still a lot of stigma surrounding post divorce parents and children. My parents prolonged their tumultuous relationship in a misguided attempt to maintain a stable environment for their children, but our home life was anything but stable. This resulted in my siblings and me living in an unhealthy environment that caused more trauma than a divorce would have. It was my childhood mentor who helped me come to grips with the guilt and shame associated with my parents breakup and embrace a different, but healthier, family dynamic. My Auntie Yumi, my other mother , is my best friend s mom. Petite, with sparkling upturned eyes, a lilting Japanese accent, coarse graying hair cut short, and skin turned a dark caramel by days working in the garden and tending to the animals on her little homestead, she is a life long learner who in her forties picked up ... She says I don t think he s even thinking about it and Oh, no, Eddie, I don t think so . However Catherine finally manages to overcome her doubt in Rodolpho due to the deep trust that she has placed in him, as she gradually distances herself from Eddie and draws Rodolpho closer. When Catherine sleeps with Rodolpho she seems to have a new found sense of independence and appears to have developed a backbone, it is at this point that she completely disconnects herself from Eddie, from this point on Catherine begins to side against Eddie in arguments and go against his word. • 5. Constantine Stanislavsky is the Father of Today s Style... Stanislavsky is the father of today s style of acting. Constantine Stanislavsky (1863 1938) was the innovator for method acting. He changed the process of acting in which actors immerse themselves into their characters as much as possible. He wanted acting to change to a realistic art. Stanislavsky wanted his actors to avoid habitual mannerisms on stage (Worthen, 33). He used a method that includes five techniques to help an actorsubmerge into their characters. The magic if, re education, observation, motivation and emotional memory are all techniques Stanislavsky used to help mold his actors (Bradford). The first technique requires the actor to use their imagination. The magic if requires the actor to ask themselves what my character would do in this situation. The next technique used is reeducation. Whether it s being onstage to a live audience or on film, actors need to find a way to display true human life movement. When figuring out body movement or body language actors must think of every action as part of their character. Stanislavsky encouraged his students to observe people whenever possible. He encouraged them to study their physical traits as well as their personality. Stanislavsky reminded his students that every person is unique and therefore each unique trait should be exhibited. The technique is a very valuable tool because actors often find inspiration by observing others. Actors often ask themselves what is my motivation? This process entails a lot of why ... • 12. Naguib Mahfouz Fountain and Tomb Essay In the novel Fountain and Tomb by Naguib Mahfouz, the reader is thrown into a small alley in Cairo, Egypt in the 1920s. The narrator is an adult reliving his childhood through many random, interesting vignettes of his youth. We learn about many different aspects of Egyptian life from political rebellion, to arranged marriages, to religious devotion, to gang warfare. We are led to conclude that one of the major themes of the book is Truth. We come to question whether Truth is something that alwaysneeds to be known. Will the Truth ultimately do more harm than good? Is there ever a time when the Truth must be told? Are there times when it s better for the Truth to never be known? Truth is constantly sought out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The story ends with the son supposedly helping his father pass away so he won t be forced to return his fortune. This is a case where the father thought it was necessary for the Truth to come out, but where did it leave his family? So we wonder, is the Truth always the best thing to be told? Can it do more harm than good? In this case it did. Truth only brought about more pain, conflict, and trouble than if it had not been told. When our narrator is conversing with Anwar Gilel on the fountain steps, Gilel has made an astounding realization. I ve just realized that I m a student among competing students in a school which throws together students from antagonistic little lanes, in an alley in the middle of warring alleys, that I m a creature among millions of creatures both seen and unseen on a ball of mud awhirl amid a solar system over which I have no control, that this solar system is itself lost in endless space ... It goes on and he asks the narrator whether the sun will come up tomorrow. I d take bets on it, the lad answered. Gilel ends the argument by saying, Blessed are the ignorant, for they are happy (Mahfouz, 115). Gilel also has realized that what people don t know is sometimes better for them. It makes them feel better, safer, and happier. And we wonder which is more important, knowing the Truth, or knowing enough of the Truth to keep us satisfied with life and happy. • 13. Literary Analysis Of Blackberry Eating By Galway Kinnell Galway Kinnell speaks about the act of eating delicious blackberries in his poem Blackberry Eating. The author starts out his poem with a narrative on his tangible experiences when eating the fruit, but the poem later transitions into the topic of writing words. The topic of eating blackberries serves as an analogy for language and how perplexing yet marvelous it truly can be. This speaks to how poetrycan be used as a medium to discuss the complexities existing in language itself and how these complexities can show how poetry encapsulates this artistic literary form. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kinnell s brilliant use of alliteration is not the only literary device that is effectively used to deliver his analogy, he also uses repetition to reference the connection with sound and imagery. Repetition is important because it reiterates the idea wanting to be conveyed. In line 2, Kinnell repeats black in the same line, black blackberries (2). For this poem repetition is used effectively in that Kinnell is constantly repeating the word black in blackberry; it reminds the audience subconsciously of the sound that the words black and blackberry make. In fact the word black is used seven times throughout the ninety word poem. By repeating certain words, the poem gives emphasis to a particular topic or theme it wants to convey. In Blackberry Eating Kinnell also uses repetition to emphasize the imagery narrated in this poem. By stressing the black color of this berry, it allows readers to truly capture the picture Kinnell is painting of the berry as well as the sound the word black makes. This alludes to the topic of choosing words which is shown in the second half of the poem. In addition to using such literary devices to exemplify sound and imagery, Kinnell picks out words in his poem while discussing the process of choosing words. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the same time, administrators ensure all employees perform their expected duties within the company. Reduction in the workforce in any company should be handled professionally and amicably whilst ensuring that the company, the administration, and the employees are all in understanding at that point. • 20. Organized Crime In The 1920s Essay After World War I, the attitude of Americans in the United States changed drastically. For the first time, more people lived in cities than in rural areas (Danzer 640). Trends including superficial fads, professional sports, new types of music, and the idea of celebrities represented the establishment of pop culture during the Roaring 20s (Fagnilli 46). Challenging the values and practices of the traditional American, many individuals, usually young people, introduced casual dating, more revealing clothing, birth control, and new styles of dancing (Fagnilli 45 46). Although the 1920s were considered the good times, there was a darker side to this era, including a rise in unemployment, organized crime, and an irrational fear of communism. In the 1920s, many citizens were left without a job as unemployment rates increased. Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption Analysis In the novella Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King, banker Andy Dufresne is wrongfully convicted of murder and sent to Shawshank Prison. Andy s shrewd nature and sense of self worth become valuable tools that allow him to thrive in prison under the harsh authority of the warden, Samuel Norton. King uses Norton to demonstrate that corruption is present throughout society and that the perception of good and evil can be altered depending on who presents a story. King uses the characterization of Norton to argue that corruption has permeated all classes of society. Norton is a practicing Christian. Christians typically believe that one must be pious to get into heaven, and that it is important to help sinners repent so they can also go to heaven. Critical Analysis Of Robert Reich s Inequality For All In the documentary titled Inequality for All , Robert Reich attempts to describe to the audience and his students reasons for the income inequality found in the United States. Inequality for All showed an endearing and caring side of Reich, where he made himself seem human and fallible. I found myself personally enjoying this side of him, the short aging man who, although a Rhodes Scholar drives a Cooper and holds himself above politics. After reflection and research, one can quickly see where Mr. Reich uses emotion and imagery to build a false argument. His attempts to pull the emotional strings of the audience begin with his extreme shortness caused by a medical affliction. We move to Reich driving an inexpensive car with a manual transmission. Then we meet a woman having difficulty making ends meet and crying while relating her story. Reich shows the audience and his students a Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) graph with a hockey stick curve so sharp it was astounding. I had to pause the film so I could research this graph as the visual was so extraordinary. I found an online interactive graph of the DJIA using data for the last 8 or 9 decades. I could not create any data set that produced the theatrical image shown in the film. This, however, is typical Robert Reich, shocking graphs with no numbers. He just uses them as pictures to demonstrate an emotional point, never mind there is no substance, just emotion. Attempting to illustrate the income inequality, we were introduced to the graph showing a U shaped curve . Reich, Saez and Piketty wanted to present that curve represented income disparity from 1900 to present day. Reich and his cohorts wanted to focus on the timeline of the graph from around 1920 to 1940. It seems this was a time where the income differential was much less than present day and they want to get back to that time. News flash gentlemen, that was the World War I and Great Depression era. • 30. Dictatorship Vs Dictatorship What is government? How does it affect me? Why should I care? What is the best kind of government? These are the questions people ask every day. These are questions that potentially impact us as people. People have asked What is the role of government? There has never been a definite answer and there might never be one agreed upon answer. What I Knew Government. This has always been a subject that I have been very interested in. I remember when I was a little kid in second grade and my Dad took me down to the voting booth let me go with him to fill out his ballot. It was an experience that has stayed with me for a very long time. I remember being told that I should always try to know what our government is doing and form my own opinions on subject. However, I was also taught to listen to the people around me and that is what government should be, or at least that is what a representative government is. The way our government runs effects all of us, and in the coming future, I would like my profession to be based on the question What is the role of government? There are many different forms of government such as a dictatorship and democracy. These two governments are very different from each other. There are many different sub categories in both democracy and dictatorship. A dictatorship in my words would be a government that is ran by one or a small group of individuals and are all powerful. • 32. Essay on Religion, Creation Stories, and Creation Myths Religion, Creation Stories, and Creation Myths One of the fundamental questions that religions seek to answer is that of origin. How was man put on earth? Why and from what was he created? Who created him? What does his creation imply about the status of human beings? Some or all of these questions are answered by a religion s creation stories. Every religion s creation myths attempt to give solutions to problems present to that religious society. Because of this, each religion may have one or more creation stories, each of those different from one another in the questions they ask and the answers they give. Also in this chapter, man alone was created first, then animals, and then woman an ordering that goes against that of Genesis I. Also, instead of creating man and woman together, man was created first, from the dust of the ground after which God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. Then, while Adam was sleeping, God took from Adam one of his ribs and created Eve, or woman. Another difference between the two versions of Creation, more noticeable than the afore mentioned, is in their answer of why man was created. In Genesis I, man was created to rule over all the animals. In fact, a section of Genesis I:26 reads and let [man] have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. In contrast, Genesis II:5 claims that man was created because there was no one to till the ground. The variation in each chapter s answer to why man was created provides differing implications for the status of mankind. In Genesis I, man is supposed to be the supreme ruler, while in Genesis II, man was created merely as a servant of the land. Western religions, when viewing the status of humans, tend to take the first interpretation as indication of man s role on earth, believing him to be superior to all other species. Ignoring the inconsistencies, these two chapters seem to complement each other quite well. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Composed from 1803 to 1804, it is one of the most important pieces of Beethoven s middle period and surpasses all the earlier sonatas in scope, power, and energy. The key characteristic of this five note cell is that it is entirely composed of step wise motion. This feature would affect the melodic and harmonic choices of the movement s composition, as the movement is almost entirely built on step wise motion. Because of the step wise quality of the movement, the primary harmonic motion is an oscillation between tonic and dominant chords. The movement begins quite solidly in C major as the first component of the theme (figure 2), which we will call component A, is a repeating eight note C major chord which hammers the tonic tonality into the listeners minds. This component ends with an ascending three note step wise motion in the right hand into the dominant of the key, with the second note being a sharpened F, temporarily tonalicizing the dominant, suggesting the idea to the listeners that the beginning C major chords may instead be serving a subdominant function to G. In measure 3 and 4, the left descends into B, serving as a bridge to the upcoming flat VII to smooth out the jarring key shift. We will call the right hand motif in measure 3 as component B and the one in measure 4 as component C. All three motifs would come back later as important building blocks of the movement. Beethoven confuses the listeners further as we progress into measure 5. The first four measures are repeated, but the music ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author s reasoning will follow the principles of Western reasoning, if only informally. The evidence used will have a logical link to the reasons they support. Evidence itself will be a verifiable fact. Furthermore, research based writing seeks a plausible (not conclusive) answer to a question of interest to the readers. The overarching purpose for writing is to show why the reader should accept that answer. This includes acknowledging and responding to possible alternative answers to the question. Others ideas are used to find or support claims, reasons, or evidence but cannot to be presented as the writer s own. Even though the writer may come to the same conclusion as others who have addressed the issue before, he or she must present the answer and its supporting reasons as the product of an one s own investigation, being careful to acknowledge when and how others contributions have been utilized. Wherever you may look, a drug is being used, whether it is more commonly a cigarette being smoked on the street, or the covert teens smoking marijuana in secluded areas. In any case, there is not one person who can say drug use is not prevalent, since society has made it clear through news, music and everyday life. However, there are certain drugs that seem to be worsethan others, and society once again has taught us that through our laws and restrictions. The worse the drug, the more you pay for having it. Heroin, a white powder, was created in 1874, and was sold as a safe substitute for morphine. However, it was discovered that heroin produced a quick dependency in people. Heroin and other opiates were made illegal in 1920 as part of the Dangerous Drugs Act. Still today, however, Heroin is illegally manufactured and imported, largely from the Indian sub continent. As well as killing pain, moderate doses of pure opioids produce a range of mild effects. They depress the activity of the nervous system, including such reflexes as coughing, breathing and heart rate. They also cause widening of the blood vessels, which gives a feeling of warmth and reduces bowel activity, which causes constipation. Heroin itself can be taken in three ways, injecting a solution of heroin and water into your vein, snorting it, or inhaling it. A person will receive maximum effects if they inject it. Basically heroin makes people feel as if they are in a state of Euphoria for a small amount of time, and cause people to be drowsy warm and content, which kind of detaches you from pain. After Heroin is injected or inhaled, it crosses the blood brain barrier, and once in the brain, it is converted to morphine and will bind with opioid receptors. This transferring is what gives the user their rush, and the more of the drug, the faster it binds and the stronger the rush. Heroin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Civil war is considered a terrible time period for medical equipment as well as surgeons. Many soldiers who had been fighting in the Civil War were killed by sicknesses including diarrhea and pneumonia. Surgeons, who had minimum medical experience, were taking care of the wounded soldiers at the time. The idea of sanitizing and sterilizing equipment that was used on a patient beforehand was not known by the inexperienced surgeons. Only a few years later came the Spanish American war, which showed a vast improvement in the medical field. During the Spanish American War many important inventions were created. These include the invention of the x ray, the discovery of the germ theory, and the discovery of the antiseptic method. Both of these discoveries made it much easier for Surgeons to operate on the wounded soldiers. Another beneficial factor that made the Spanish American War more medically advanced then the civil war was the service of female nurses. The Nurses provided a lot of help for the surgeons at times when there was a lot of work, and assistance was needed. It is clear that the medicinal techniques used during the Civil War were much less advanced than those used during the Spanish American War. The North ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
