This document provides an overview of a vehicle tracking and locking system based on GPS and GSM technologies. The system puts the vehicle in sleep mode when handled by the owner and active mode when theft is detected. When theft occurs, the system sends an SMS to the microcontroller to stop the engine and lock the doors. The location of the vehicle can then be easily tracked. The system was implemented and tested successfully.
In highly populated countries, people lose their lives because of accidents and poor emergency facilities every day. These lives could have been saved if medical facilities are provided at the right time. This thesis implies a system which is a solution to this drawback, when a vehicle meets with an accident immediately, accelerometer module detects the signal, and it is sent to the Arduino microcontroller programmed by C programming language. Arduino sends an alert message through the GSM module including the location to the police station or a rescue team. So the police can immediately trace the location through the GPS modem after receiving the information. LCD is used to display location message from GPS module. Real Time Vehicle Monitoring Using Raspberry Pi Albin George
An advanced vehicle monitoring and tracking system based on Embedded Linux Board and android application is designed and implemented for monitoring the school vehicle from any location A to location B at real time. The proposed system would make good use of new technology that based on Embedded Linux board namely Raspberry Pi and Smartphone android application. The proposed system works on GPS/GPRS/GSM SIM900A Module which includes all the three things namely GPS GPRS GSM. The GPS current location of the vehicle; GPRS sends the tracking information to the server and the GSM is used for sending alert message to vehicle’s owner mobile. The proposed system would place inside the vehicle whose position is to be determined on the web page and monitored at real time. In the proposed system, there is comparison between the current vehicle path and already specified path into the file system of raspberry pi. Here in the proposed system the already specified path inside the raspberry pi’s file system taken from vehicle owner’s android smartphone using android application. Means the selection of path from location A to B takes place from vehicle owner’s android application which gives more safety and secures traveling to the traveler. Hence the driver drives the vehicle only on the vehicle owner’s specified path. If the driver drives the vehicle on the wrong path then the alert message will be sent from the proposed system to the vehicle’s owner mobile and also speakers alert driven using Raspberry pi’s audio jack. If the vehicle’s speed goes beyond the specified value of the speed, then also the warning message will be sent from system to the owner mobile. The proposed system also took care of the traveler’s safety by using LPG Gas leakage sensor MQ6 and temperature sensor DS18B20.

Vehicle tracking and locking system used to track the theft vehicle
Sleep mode / active mode
If theft identified, IR sensor senses the signals and SMS is sent to
microcontroller, issue the necessary signals to stop the motor
After switch off the engine, motor cannot restart without permission
of password
Tracking of vehicle place is easy and doors locked automatically, thief
cannot get away from the car.

GPS TECHNOLOGY
GPS is a satellite-based navigation system consists of a network of
24 satellites located into orbit
The system provides essential information to military, civil and
commercial users
GPS works in any of the weather circumstances at anywhere in the
world

A GPS receiver must be locked on to the signal of at least three
satellites to estimate 2D position and track movement
Once the vehicle position has been determined, the GPS unit can
determine other information like, speed, distance to destination, time.

8. GSM MODEM SIM300 V7.03
It accepts a SIM card operates on a subscriber’s mobile number ,
just like a cellular phone
It is a cell phone without display
Modem sim300 is a triband GSM/GPRS engine that works on
EGSM900MHz, DCS1800MHz and PCS1900MHz frequencies
GSM Modem is RS232-logic level compatible, i.e., it takes-3v to -
15v as logic high and +3v to +15 as logic low
9. MAX232 is used to convert TTL into RS232 logic level converter
used between the microcontroller and the GSM board
The signal at pin 11 of the microcontroller is sent to the GSM
modem through pin 11 of max232 this signal is received at pin2
(RX) of the GSM modem.
The GSM modem transmits the signal from pin3 (TX) to the
microcontroller through MAX232, which is received at pin 10 of
IC1

11. Debugging and Testing Process
The debugging and testing of microcontroller-based systems
divided into two groups:
1] software-only tools
2] software-hardware tools
The user program operated in a simulated environment where the
user can insert breakpoints

external devices

Inputs to the simulator come from files that store complex digital I/O
signals and waveforms
Outputs is of the form of digital data or waveforms, usually stored in
a file, or displayed on a screen
software program is written in c or assembly language and compiled
using Keil software
The hex code of the program should be loaded into the AT89C52 by
using Top win Universal programmer.
13. Hardware Assembling and Testing
Assemble all the components on the PCB based on circuit diagram
TX and RX pins of the GSM modem to pins 13 and 14 of MAX 232
and insert a valid SIM in the GSM modem
Connect the GPS module according to circuit diagram

14. CONCLUSION
vehicle tracking and locking systems used to track the theft
vehicle by using GPS and GSM technology. This system puts
into the sleeping mode vehicle handled by the owner or
authorized persons; otherwise goes to active mode. When the
theft identified, the responsible people send SMS to the micro
controller, then issue the control signals to stop the engine
motor. After that all the doors locked. To open the doors or to
restart the engine authorized person needs to enter the
passwords. In this method, easily track the vehicle place and
doors locked.
