INTRODUCTION
 The main intention of this project is to find the accident
spot at any place and intimating it to ambulance through the
GPS and GSM networks

 The GPS based vehicle accident identification module
contains MEMS,GSM module and a GPS modem connected
to the microcontroller

 Global System for Mobiles (GSM) technology is used to
establish cellular connection

GPS is used to trace the position of the vehicle
INTRODUCTION….
 Now-a-days, it became very difficult to know that an
accident has occurred and to locate the position where it has
happened

There is no system of identification and intimation
regarding an accident in previous

 Later on the SMS Service begins for intimation purpose

GPS and GSM makes the usage for intimation and
identification of place
PREVIOUS SYSTEM

When an accident occurs the information only is sent through
GSM but there is no possibility to locate the spot
PROPOSED SYSTEM

This Project presents an automotive localization system
using GPS and GSM-SMS services

POWER SUPPLY
The power supply circuit consists of a transformer connected to
a bridge rectifier which is then passed on to the LM 7805
regulator through a filter and then sent to the LM 317 regulator
Global Positioning System

27 Satellites
Orbit the Earth twice a day
Equipped with an Atomic clock

GPS Receiver

3-D Trilateration
GPS Receiver locates 4 satellites above it
Then it calculates the distance to GPS satellites by
timing a signal's journey from satellite to receiver
Global Positioning System….
GPS MODULE
The GPS module ProGin SR-87 series is used

High performance receiver tracks up to 20 satellites

The module communicates with application system via
RS232 with NMEA-0183 protocol

Average Cold Start time under 42 seconds

NMEA 0183 a combined electrical and data specification for
communication between marine electronic devices such as
GPS receivers, anemometer ,etc
GSM Modem

 A GSM modem is a wireless modem that
works with a GSM wireless network

A wireless modem behaves like a dial-up
modem

The main difference between them is that a
dial-up modem sends and receives data through
a fixed telephone line while a wireless modem
sends and receives data through radio waves
GSM MODEM….

The GSM network is used to provide communication
from one place to other

The GSM module using consists of a Mobile Station and
SIM

The commands that are using to provide communication
are AT Commands

The AT commands specifies the GSM technology and are
related to SMS service
General Characteristics of a
GSM Modem
Reading, writing and deleting SMS messages

 Sending SMS messages

 Monitoring the signal strength

 Monitoring the charging status and charge level of the batter
Reading, writing and searching phone book entries. The
number of SMS messages that can processed by a GSM
modem per minute is very low -- only about six to ten SMS
messages per minute
MEMS

MEMS or Micro Electro Mechanical Systems is a
technique of combining Electrical and Mechanical
components together on a chip, to produce a system of
miniature dimensions
LCD

A liquid crystal display (commonly abbreviated LCD) is a
thin, flat display device made up of any number of color or
monochrome pixels arrayed in front of a light source or
reflector

It is prized by engineers because it uses very small amounts
of electric power, and is therefore suitable for use in battery-
powered electronic devices
LCD….

In our project, the LCD used to display the status and position of the
vehicle
The number to which the position of the vehicle is to be delivered , also
displays on the LCD such that changes can be made if necessary
FEATURES OF LCD

Ability to display numbers, characters and graphics

Read and Write the DATA

Adjust the Contrast

Low power consumption

WORKING

When ever any accident occurs mems sensor detects and
sends mechanical force to ARM, by using GPS, we will get
particular location where accident occurs, then GSM sends
message to authorized members & 108

One more best feature is when ever any authorized people
gives missed call to GSM at accident location then it sends
messages of the accident location
WORKING….
ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES

 The vehicle which has  In some places where there
undergone to an accident is no provision of GSM
can be identified by using networks it is difficult for
    tracking technology without communication
    any delay

 The immediate medication
    will be provided to the
    accident victims in the
    remote areas
FUTURE SCOPE
This system can be interfaced with Vehicle airbag system that
prevents vehicle occupants from striking interior objects such as
the steering wheel or window

This can also be developed by interconnecting a camera to the
Controller Module that takes the photograph of the accident spot
that makes the tracking easier
CONCLUSION
To minimize the deaths and the severe conditions due to accidents
the GPS and GSM technologies are used where immediate action
would be take place by the ambulance/police service which might
reduces the severity
