VALUES & ATTITUDE : ORGN BEHAVIOR 1
• Basic convictions that a specific mode of conduct or end
state of existence is personally or socially preferable to an
opposite or converse mode of conduct or end state of
existence
• They contain a judgmental element in that they carry an
individual’s ideas as to what is right, good or desirable
• It defines what is good or bad , right or wrong
• They are the primary sources of our actions
VALUES & ATTITUDE : ORGN BEHAVIOR 2
• Represents goals to be achieved
• Desirable end state of existence such as
comfortable life, an exciting life, a world at
peace, a world at beauty, equality, etc.
• These are the goals that a person would like to
achieve during his lifetime
VALUES & ATTITUDE : ORGN BEHAVIOR 3
• Represents the means to achieve the goals
• Preferable modes of behavior or means of
achieving one’s terminal values
• It contains ambitious, broad minded, helpful,
honest, obedient, responsible, independent, self
controlled and so on.
VALUES & ATTITUDE : ORGN BEHAVIOR 4
• Evaluative statement or judgments concerning object,
people or events either favorable or unfavorable
• They reflect how we feel about something or someone
• They are our feelings, thoughts and behavioural tendencies
toward a specific object or situation
• For instance , When I say, “I like my job” I am expressing
my attitude about my work.

• Includes the beliefs that individual has about certain
person, object or situation
• Learned beliefs, such as, “you need to work long hours
to get ahead in this job”, lead to attitudes that have an
impact on behavior in the workplace.
• It is basically a mental process of evaluation

• Refers to a person’s feelings that result from his or her
beliefs
• A person who believes hard work earns promotions may
feel anger or frustration when he or she works hard but
is not promoted.
• Blood pressure & body language reflects changes in
emotions

• Refers to the individual’s behavior that occurs as a
result of his feelings about persons, objects, things
• An individual may complain, request a transfer, or be
less productive because he feels dissatisfied with work.
• The behavioral component of an attitude can be
measured by observing behavior or by asking a person
about behavior or intentions

• It refers to an individual’s general attitude towards his
job.
• A positive feeling about one’s job resulting from an
evaluation of its characteristics
• A person with a high level of job satisfaction holds
positive feeling about his/her job , while a dissatisfied
person holds negative feelings.

• The degree to which an employee identifies with a
particular organization and its goal and wishes to maintain
membership in the organization
• High organisational commitment means identifying with
one’s employing organisation

  • 2. • Basic convictions that a specific mode of conduct or end state of existence is personally or socially preferable to an opposite or converse mode of conduct or end state of existence • They contain a judgmental element in that they carry an individual’s ideas as to what is right, good or desirable • It defines what is good or bad , right or wrong • They are the primary sources of our actions VALUES & ATTITUDE : ORGN BEHAVIOR 2
  • 3. • Represents goals to be achieved • Desirable end state of existence such as comfortable life, an exciting life, a world at peace, a world at beauty, equality, etc. • These are the goals that a person would like to achieve during his lifetime VALUES & ATTITUDE : ORGN BEHAVIOR 3
  • 4. • Represents the means to achieve the goals • Preferable modes of behavior or means of achieving one’s terminal values • It contains ambitious, broad minded, helpful, honest, obedient, responsible, independent, self controlled and so on. VALUES & ATTITUDE : ORGN BEHAVIOR 4
  • 5. • Evaluative statement or judgments concerning object, people or events either favorable or unfavorable • They reflect how we feel about something or someone • They are our feelings, thoughts and behavioural tendencies toward a specific object or situation • For instance , When I say, “I like my job” I am expressing my attitude about my work. VALUES & ATTITUDE : ORGN BEHAVIOR 5
  • 6. • Includes the beliefs that individual has about certain person, object or situation • Learned beliefs, such as, “you need to work long hours to get ahead in this job”, lead to attitudes that have an impact on behavior in the workplace. • It is basically a mental process of evaluation VALUES & ATTITUDE : ORGN BEHAVIOR 6
  • 7. 2. • Refers to a person’s feelings that result from his or her beliefs • A person who believes hard work earns promotions may feel anger or frustration when he or she works hard but is not promoted. • Blood pressure & body language reflects changes in emotions VALUES & ATTITUDE : ORGN BEHAVIOR 7
  • 8. 3. • Refers to the individual’s behavior that occurs as a result of his feelings about persons, objects, things • An individual may complain, request a transfer, or be less productive because he feels dissatisfied with work. • The behavioral component of an attitude can be measured by observing behavior or by asking a person about behavior or intentions VALUES & ATTITUDE : ORGN BEHAVIOR 8
  • 9. • It refers to an individual’s general attitude towards his job. • A positive feeling about one’s job resulting from an evaluation of its characteristics • A person with a high level of job satisfaction holds positive feeling about his/her job , while a dissatisfied person holds negative feelings.
