Difference Between Racial Inequality And Justice

Racial Inequality and Justice
Justice is a term that should not only prefer to different portions of distribution, but also to the
institutional conditions to develop individual capabilities, as well as cooperative communication.
Under this conception of justice, many people in the U.S. consider disciplinary justice as an
appropriate approach to sustain social order. However, it seems like there are more chances that the
minorities are targets of the inequality in justice system, especially in socio economic and political
problems.
Even if people of color were fully distributed in the capitalist hierarchy like white people, racism is
still a big problem of the inequality system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the National Center for Access to Justice (2015), a network of pro bono legal service
providers representing the poor has arisen to address the need of justice gap, but more than half of
those who seek help are turned away, as a result of unavailable adequate public funds and private
donations. By reducing the pro bono law firms, legislators indirectly thrust the poor into lack access of
finding qualified attorneys to represent themselves in bureaucratic proceedings. Rhode (2005)
suggests that in order to maintain the fairness of American justice, we need to press reforms in
political institutions, which has deep ideological and structural roots (p. 126). Those reforms include,
but not limited to, the distribution of legal self help materials, the procedures of resolving disputes
without lawyers or court hearings, the expansion of pro bono services, and the adequate funding of
legal aid agencies (Rhode, 2005, p. 126 134). Even though our laws can policies can change over
time, I believe Rhode s suggestions on reforms may have some involved complications due to the lack
of political actions, civil disobedience, and direct actions.
The United States is a dreadfully unequal society in terms of the distributions of material wealth,
especially the outstanding benefits and privileges that accumulate to wealth. This inequality is
enormous, regardless of race. However, the minorities are still struggling with the overall system of
socio economic inequality in which multiple scholars have to study, analyze, and suggest different
solutions for this

What Causes Thermohaline Circulation
1. Thermohaline circulation of the ocean corresponds to the change of density in flowing water. It is
created through global density gradients constructed by surface heat and freshwater fluxes through the
large scale ocean circulation. It is based on deep water currents that make up 90% of the ocean. Water
moves around areas found under sea, ocean basins, since density is caused by forces and gravity. The
amount of salt in the water and the temperature of the water changes the density. Salinity and cold
temperatures make the water more dense which causes deep waters, which form when air
temperatures are cold and the salinity of the surface of waters is high, to sink into deep ocean basins at
high latitudes where temperatures are cold enough for the density to decrease. In other terms, it is
known as part of the ocean circulation created through the differences in densities. The density of the
water is dependent on the salinity and temperature which changes from the surface of the water either
heating up or cooling down as freshwater flows as said before. Thermohaline circulation moves a
massive current around the world not to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The marine ecosystems would die because the nutrients would not be becoming spread out through the
flow of the currents not to mention more fish would die since the oxygen supply would decrease if the
ocean currents were to collapse fully or partially. The food chain would go off balance because if some
animals were to die, their predators would have no prey to eat on so those animals would die of
starvation which could lead to extinction and all ocean life being threatened starting with the
phytoplankton that uses photosynthesis and is the first in line for the marine food chain not to mention
it is essential to all oceanic life. If phytoplankton die, their skin sinks to the bottom of the ocean, the
surface of the water is not refilled with nutrients if it were to collapse since the circulation would not
move the water down below

Modern Day Retelling In The Odyssey
The Odyssey a Modern Day Retelling Chad and five of his best friends decided that they were going

Marketing Gap Of Brand Extension Essay
Brand Extension
In the early 1920 s Schiaparelli started a fashion brand that eventually grew to be one of Europe s
most revered brands. It was lauded for being both innovative and practical as was witnessed in the
divided skirt design modeled by some of the players at the Wimbledon tennis tournament of 1937. The
post World War Two era of the late 1940 s saw the brand s fortunes decline drastically as the designs
continued with their pre World War Two era trends which were not well received by consumers. The
result is that the brand could not sustain itself in the face of competition, declared bankruptcy, and
closed down in 1954 (Blum, 2003). As such, Schiaparelli offers an opportunity for brand extension by
building on its past successes.
A marketing gap analysis of the fashion industry reveals a new market gap, where demand is greater
than supply for designs based on unusual clothing items, as an investment opportunity. The eccentric
designs cover the period between late 1920 s and late 1950 s. To fill this gap, the designs from
Schiaparelli brand have been selected as the base eccentric designs. While Schiaparelli brand closed
down in 1954, its influence can be observed in some of the designs of current fashion powerhouses
like Chanel (The Fashion Model Directory, 2012).
Schiaparelli brand was introduced into the fashion industry in the late 1920 s in Paris when Elsa
Schiaparelli, born to Egyptian and Italian higher social class parents, launched a collection of double

Marriage Affairs In The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
The word affair is not what generally comes to mind when discussing marriage, but it s the reality
found in many relationships. Many American citizens believe that only troubled and famous people
take part in affairs, when in reality th is can happen to anyone. Marriage affairs can cause dramatic
psychological effects on an individual affecting how they would think, react to small acts of violence,
and question why people commit adultery; all have negative impacts on our bodies. Each act of
adultery can cause a different psychological effect on a human; portraying the causes of either an

Leaving us with the question as to why people cheat? One of the first things that comes to peoples
mind when thinking of affairs are all set towards Hollywood rumors about celebrities, when in reality
it can happen to anyone; Affairs can occur in happy marriages as well as in troubled ones. Although
the involved spouse may not be getting enough from the marriage, sometimes the involved spouse is
not giving enough. Reasons for EMI include low self esteem, relationship deficits (e.g., lack of
affection), or a social context in which infidelity is condoned. (glass) Even with a non problematic
relationship people can still fall under the pressure of cheating. One factor can include either spouse
losing interest. In some certain cases if either a man or women were to be in fight, and they saw an
attractive person of the opposite sex there would be a higher chance of either person committing an
infidelity. About 30 60% of married American citizens will cheat on their spouse. A marriage s
outcome only reflects the amount of effort that was put into it; Some marriages end in a month and
others last fifty years because of the partners beliefs about one another s veracity. ( Lying ) There are 3
main factors that causes people to cheat: lying, lack of communication, and neglection. All three go

Earthquake Drills In America
Why should we prepare? The entire West coast of the Americas lies on the edge of geologic plates, a
large portion of these plate boundaries are subduction zones. These geologic features present some
very serious risks such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic activity. Although we have known
about these risks for many years and have experienced many disasters of varying scales, people living
in these known disaster zones still do not prepare. Earthquake drills are usually drills people
participate in to streamline evacuation practices implemented by emergency service personnel, but
offer little value to participants. The purpose of this research is to investigate the influence of regular

Reflective Essay On The Humanist Community
Nobody s word is final
As a member of the Canberra Humanist society, I felt a spark this year when I heard that some of the
members had been investing energy into a program called the Humanist Chaplaincy. This service
provides ethical and moral support from a non religious perspective in institutions such as hospitals
and universities, employing the most important tool available the art of listening. While the title
humanist chaplain sounds like a contradiction in terms to some ears, others have not overlooked its
potential and significance. There is not only the positive function this role can serve in the community,
but the scope for other community work that would only be limited by our imagination. If Aristotle
thought it is the mark of an educated mind to entertain a thought without accepting it , I think it is the
mark of an open mind, to entertain a thought without rejecting it. I know from experience how
powerful the art of imagination can be. As an incredibly fortunate specimen, I somehow found myself
capable of reaching beyond the confines of my narrowly defined identity and noticing a seed of
intellectual enlightenment grow after decades of darkness. If that seed can grow at 30 years of age,
with literally no prior interest in the Sciences, History, Art, Philosophy, introspection and discourse
then it can happen to anyone, any time.
As far I can tell, there is no need to set boundaries when exploring meaningful ways to extend the

Huxley s Use Of Satire In Brave New World
Satire is the use of exaggeration and humor to ridicule and criticize the foolishness of a set of beliefs
or thoughts. It takes the topic of the satire to an intense point in order to leave an impact on the
audience and make them think
Satire is effective because it conveys information in such an extreme way that people are drawn in and
forced to pay attention to the underlying issue. By making it interesting and injecting humor, it is more
likely that people will be interested in the topic
Satire is most often used in correspondence to issues in politics, as the dark humor aspect can make a
topic that can be seen as boring or confusing more interesting. In the newspapers there are often

Dystopian writing has been around since the eighteenth century, although it is more often thought of
as a recent trend. From older writing such as Animal Farm to newer books like The Hunger Games

popular books
The accuracy of predictions in dystopian novels range greatly from accurate to completely inaccurate.
Some of the technologies presented in these works are completely feasible and have even come to

Comparing Devlin to Mill.
A Comparative Analysis of Devlin and Mill
It can be assumed that if J.S. Mill and Lord Devlin ever coexisted some intoxicating deliberations
regarding the role of morality in society would transpire. However, time has a peculiar habit of
erecting boundaries amid centuries, allowing us only to presume discourse between the contemporary
and the historical. Consequentially, each individual has an obligation to formulate his or her own
appraisal established through the logistic unification of the particular instant and one s own conception
of idealistic righteousness. But the acquisition of an infallible and tangible philosophy with universal
application would be as obstinate to create as it would to fathom. In such regard, the apparatus on ...

Moreover Devlin asserts that moral legislation is crucial to maintain a social bond. He maintains that
society has a right to protect its own existence by barring behavior that threatens that existence. This is
distinctly divergent from Mill s perceptions on paternalism.
Mill claimed that there must be unconditional rejection of paternalism by the state, only invalidated to
prevent persons from selling themselves into slavery. Reinforcing his case Mill argued that
paternalistic intervention is unlikely to work because an individual is acutely more aware of his or her
own needs than the state is. Additionally, he argued that it is improbable compulsion would work. This
can also be taken into account in the form of liberty. Mill alleges that an autonomous life has more
value than a life of dependency, since one cannot be forced to be autonomous paternalism has a
damaging effect on an individual. As a contemporarily relevant issue, Devlin indirectly delivers his
rebuttal to paternalism by embodying a stance on homosexuality. He defends societies right to protect
its own existence by vetoing behavior that threatens its sustainability, since homosexuality is
detrimental to society that union has a right to prohibit it. This is consistent with Devlin s definition of
tangible harm , described as a harm that instigates a diminution of the physical strength of society.
When practiced in trivial quantities these activities can be harmless, however as its participants

What Creates An Idea Group, And Group Levels And Virtues
Opinion? Or Fact?
(What is justice, what creates an idea group, and group levels and virtues)
There are many good reasons why, as citizens and as scientists, we should be concerned with studying
the ways in which human beings form their opinions and the role that social conditions play. (Elliot
Aronson, Page 17) It s human nature to instantly form an opinion of someone or something. There s
really no way around it. When someone forms an opinion, they think of their opinion as true, or fact.
But can an opinion be fact unless it s proved? That s a legit question for Republic. Throughout the

leader must be taught to lead and they must be able to lead well. People must be taught to be followers
and to not try to take the position of a leader. Without followers, there are no leaders. If people can be
taught to follow efficiently and the leaders are taught to lead efficiently, there will be harmony. Don t
forget, harmony is a key component of an ideal group along with unity and balance. Unity needs to be

The North Korean Famine
North Korea has been receiving financial support from the United Nations as well as food supplies.
Many people would claim that North Korea has an ongoing famine due to the floods they would
continuously experience throughout the years, damaging the soil. Others would argue and say that the
famine happened because North Korea is a communist country and the military is purposefully
starving their people. Regardless of these arguments, the fact still remains, the people of North Korea
are dying rapidly due to malnutrition. The only solution feasible to this problem would be to send
agricultural scientists over to North Korea and help restore the damaged soil, so that it may grow

The reason for this, is because it will cost millions of dollars to try and restore even a portion of the
land in North Korea. According to Phil McKenna, North Korean scientists told the delegates that they
would like to reforest hillsides with trees, including the Japanese chestnut, black chokeberry, and
Korean pine, that could both stabilize the soil and provide edible fruits and seeds. But funding for such
reforestation appears tight (McKenna 17). The solution is possible, however, it will cost too much to
fix. There have been ideas of trying to restore everything back to the way it used to be, but there are
insufficient funds to do so. It is cheaper to send North Korea supplies of food and some money, rather
than doing something that will benefit all of North Korea. Not to mention the fact this solution is short
term and does not benefit North Korea as much as the previous solution would. Money seems to be
the only problem with this solution, Even if the nurseries were running at full capacity, North Korea
would still have a long road ahead of it. Bowers estimates that reforesting even half the country would
cost around $46 billion, an amount that exceeds the nation s annual gross domestic product by $6
billion (McKenna 17). If Kim Jong Un were willing to provide their own money into this solution,
there would be better soil and crops in North Korea. This solution is not an easy one to overcome,
however, it will be worth every penny in the

British Influence On American Culture
Around the world for centuries and till this day when an individual thinks of prestige and excellence
the British Empire comes to mind. Although, in present day Britain is no longer and empire its
influence continues to be found around the world. Britain created many of the ideas which are central
to humanity today, such as the Magna Carta, which was signed in 1215 and considered the birthplace
of modern democracy. Therefore, it is understandable that Britain is a traditional oriented culture,
prideful of the prestiges foundations it has been built upon. The traditional house of Britain is built
upon a strong foundation to stand the test of time, just as the once empires influence is still strong

Symbolism In The Awakening
Birds and the Sea: Symbolism in The Awakening, a novel by Kate Chopin.
Kate Chopin s novel, The Awakening, is loaded with of symbols. Chopin uses birds, clothing,
characters, language, and other symbols to support the theme of the story. This essay will focus on the
symbolism of learning to swim in the sea and how Chopin intertwines this and a few other symbols
with her main character Edna Pontellier. Most of the symbols Chopin employs in some way lead the
reader back to the primary message of the novel; self discovery and independence are wonderful
ideas, but in the late eighteen hundreds they can lead a woman outside of societal expectations,

In Dante Alihieri s Purgatorio, Dante is climbing up the Mount of Purgatory. Dante encounters many
trials that he must face with the help of Virgil (human reason). The closer Dante gets the to the top of
Purgatory the more and more Virgil fades away and when he finally does disappear Beatrice is there to
be Dante s guide.. Throughout Purgatorio, Alihieri uses Beatrice not only as a symbol to portray the
medieval church but also a light. This is why Dante is blinded by the sight of Beatrice when she drops
the veil. Most commentators agree with idea of Beatrice being a symbol of both the church and light
while Bernard Stambler agrees with this but he expands upon that symbol. While most commentators
believe that Beatrice is an accurate example of the Church, others tend to believe that the chariot that
Alihieri talks about in Canto 32 is a more accurate representation of the church. John Carroll was one
of the ones to believe this. In Stambler s book, Dante s Other World; the Purgatorio as Guide to the
Divine Comedy, he talks about how Beatrice is more than just one symbol in Canto 32 and 33 in
Purgatorio. He says that first, the essential function of the Church throughout the purgatorial process

into which the Church as an institution had fallen through her usurpation of temporal functions

Pluralist Perspective On Sex And Sexuality
Sex and Sexuality: Understanding the complexity of the subject from plural perspectives
Sex and sexuality are very broad and complex subjects in the American society, as they are in many
jurisdictions. Sex and sexuality are intertwined to mainstream societal discourses such as morality and
ethics, law, justice and punishment religious and public policy matters. Sex and sexuality is fast
becoming a very complicated, controversial and complex subject in our contemporary society, perhaps
understanding sex and sexuality from a pluralistic perspective will be a better and more pragmatic
approach to deal with the related controversies on the topic.
Adopting a pluralistic approach can be beneficial to the society in many ways. First and foremost, it is
quite disturbing that sex and sexuality is one of the subject caught up within the perimeter of hate
crimes in the United States. Understanding sex and sexuality in the American society is from
pluralistic perspective is crucial because, discrimination and attacks on vulnerable individuals on the
account of their sexual orientation will be minimized, if the issues around sex and sexuality are taken
seriously and understood by many from plural perspectives.
Sex and sexual education is the provenance of understanding sex and sexuality from plural
perspective. Should sex education be made mandatory to teenagers in middle and in the high schools
and why? It is understandable that not every individual will support the idea that teenagers should be
taught sex education in schools, but the truth is that our kids are better off with knowledge than being
ignorant and I will explain my reason for this.
Moral decadence in our society and among the youths, is growing at an alarming and exponential rate.

One of the reasons why they should not pay more taxes is they already pay higher income tax. In

Analysis Of Shakespeare s The Winter s Tale
Though the idea that women should be subservient is pervasive in Renaissance literature, Shakespeare
challenges this concept in The Winter s Tale by providing evidence to the contrary.
His female characters are able to gain power using different techniques according to their situations.
However, these methods vary greatly between the court of the shepherd in Bohemia and Leontes court
in Sicilia. While women in the royal court gain influence through their use of effective rhetoric,
Shakespeare describes that Perdita s power in the shepherd s court stems mostly from her beauty.
From this juxtaposition, Shakespeare claims that women in a lower class setting are empowered by
their appearance while women in an upper class setting use language to affect change. Furthermore,
Shakespeare also expresses his contention that men believe in an opposite system of empowerment
according to their social class. He argues that gentlemen associate power with appearance and view
rhetoric as unimportant while lower class men put more emphasis on language as a means of
empowerment. Overall, Shakespeare provides an argument that women are empowered through
different methods depending on their socioeconomic standing. Conversely, Shakespeare also expresses
the notion that men do not follow the same pattern as women.
Shakespeare conveys his belief that women gain influence in the royal court through the use of
language by displaying Paulina s ability to control men using her speech. After Hermione

Middle Ages. The defining style of Renaissance art was realism, realistic depictions of landscapes and
the human form. Agony in the Garden features incredibly ideal and accurate human anatomical
structure with the figures of Jesus and his disciples Peter, James and John having realistic expressions
and positions. The desert landscape contains a very realistic depiction of sand and nature. It also
incorporates the law of perspective to give the illusion of three dimensions within a two dimensional
artwork by making things appear farther away than the main focus of the painting. Bellini also used
light with beams and shadows to achieve this effect and

Escapism In The 1920s
The Oxford English dictionary defines escapism as the tendency to seek, or the practice of seeking,
distraction from what normally has to be endured . This definition could help explain why musical
artists in the 1920s were more prone to focus on escapist themes such as privacy and romance rather
than on political and social views of the time.
Given the amount of racism that persisted during the early 1920s, it would make sense for artists to
make music that would enable them to seek an escape from the reality of everyday life. From a
different perspective, (as we progress through the 20 s) we also see this as a time of optimism where
race records and hillbilly records we able to cross over into other ethnic groups. With these different

The Problem Of White Collar Crime
White collar crime is a problem that we do not really see the full extent of; Geis and Stotland (1980)
present the argument that the seriousness of victimisation caused by many corporations is much
greater than that caused by common crimes however the public seem much less interested and
concerned with white collar crime. Some traditional criminological theories have attempted to prove
that white collar crime is not a different and separate phenomenon to common, every day crime.
Robert Merton s Strain Theory is applied to everyday crime, however his theory was in fact set up as
an economic theory that he believed could explain all types of corporate crimes as well as traditional
crimes. Gottfredson and Hirschi also provided what they understood to be a General Theory of Crime
with Control Theory, which they also believed to be relevant to both white collar and traditional
crimes. I am going to discuss these theories in detail and show how they do, and do not provide
sufficient explanations of white collar crimes. I am also going to include Organizational Theory in my
discussion which looks at the issue of understanding crime in a different way. Traditional theories such
as strain theory and control theory form a certain understanding of the issue, on the contrary some
argue that these theories are not appropriate and need twisting to fit the issue, some suggesting a
completely separate way of thinking is needed to understand white collar and corporate crime.

The Debate Over Gun Control
Never A Win Win The topic of gun control has become very popular in recent years as there is now
more controversy than ever about the role that guns play in today s world. I have come to be interested
in this topic because it seems like not a day goes by anymore where there isn t a newspaper published
with an article slandering either the pro or anti gun control activists. Going into this topic, I was
assuming that I would end up reading about a lot of school shootings and how it is just guns that are
causing so many deaths each year, but there seems to be a bit more to it than that. It really is no
surprise that this topic has become so popular as of late, considering that in 2014 there were roughly
51,000 firearm related incidents, and in 2015 roughly 53,000 incidents. If there is one thing that I for
sure already know, its that guns have a huge impact on our society. There are so many lives that are
impacted by gun related incidents every year that it is nearly impossible to get away from. So the
question stands, are guns a necessary and helpful tool for Americans to wield, or are they the merciless
killing machines that they have been publicized as in recent years? While researching gun control, one
of the first major sources that I found was of course the second amendment to the United States
constitution. The second amendment is as follows, A well regulated militia, being necessary to the
security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and

Security Issues Facing Elementary Schools
The most substantial security issue facing elementary schools is the predictability of schedules.
Students, faculty, and even maintenance staff generally have the same schedule every week if not
every day. Therefore, if there were a potential attacker looking to launch an assault on a public school,
it would be very easy for him or her to target a particular time and place in which most of the school s
members would be. Additionally, if a perpetrator were looking for a specific individual, he or she
could easily find that person since the schedules are fairly rigid. Middle and junior high schools face
security issues relating to students wanting to cut class. When most students are in their middle school
years, they get their first truly rebellious tendencies. As such, students may want to skip school and go
places that are not safe and which may expose them to vulnerabilities. Additionally, such students may
also attract the attention of outsiders and attempt to bring them back to campus, which would affect
the security of the entire school. Many of the security threats that affect high schools are related to
those that affect colleges and universities as well. One of these is that students may tend to engage in
drugs and alcohol, which can affect their moods and create disagreeable, violent tendencies. Also, the
concept of sacred cows applies in high schools. This term refers to the fact that certain students may
believe that they are beyond reproach or privy to certain

Tuberculosis, An Airborne Disease
Tuberculosis, an airborne disease, infects people through inhalation of mycobacterium tuberculosis,
which is called droplet infection, and is potentially fatal to its victims. (Muller, 2011).
Mycobacterium tuberculosis is the causative agent for tuberculosis. There are 19 registered types of
mycobacterium that are associated with tuberculosis, which are identified and differentiated by culture
of the organism and the disease kills around 1.7 million people each year.
Tuberculosis is primarily found in areas of poverty and is the number one killer of people who have
contracted HIV. Evidence of the presence of Tuberculosis has been traced back to the Ancient
Egyptian era as evidence of tubercular decay has been found in the spines of mummies. Tuberculosis
was also very prevalent and a wide spread killer in both ancient Greece and Imperial Rome. As time
has progressed, various scientific discoveries have occurred which have been able to loosen the grip of
tuberculosis on the world and significantly reduce its death rate. These include; the discovery of the
mycobacterium tuberculosis, discovery of the Bacille Calmette Guérin vaccine and development of
both curative and preventative drugs.
Tuberculosis is most prevalent in developing countries, particularly in South East Asia and the
Western Pacific regions, which account for 58% of new cases globally. However, Africa also has a
very high rate of tuberculosis infection with 281 cases per 100,000 population in 2014. In 2014,

Literary Devices In Those Winter Sundays
Relationships between children and their parents can be complex. Often, once the child grows up, they
begin to have a greater understanding and are able to reflect on those relationships. In the poem, Those
Winter Sundays, Robert Hayden writes of a son looking back on his relationship with his father and it
s complexity. Their intricate relationship comes from the son feeling guilt about how unaware he was
of everything his father did and how blinded he was by his childish judgments. Using details to look
back on childhood, sound devices to show a masked feeling and repetition of the word cold to
elaborate on the emotional distance the father shows, the speaker portrays his seemingly strict, yet
caring father and an unknowing and indifferent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This begins with the first cold (Hayden 2) depicting a father constantly trying to do what s right for his
family and having to deal with a son who s unappreciative and constantly giving him the cold shoulder
because he can only see what shows up before him, unable to see past the wall of ice. In the second
stanza the word cold is compiled with onomatopoeia so the reader can almost hear the sound of
coldness, hear the cold splintering, breaking (Hayden 6). This signifies the son chipping away at the
ice before him and seeing past his father s rough exterior to every small sacrifice he has done for his
family. To end everything the use of the word cold (Hayden 11) symbolizes him breaking through and
driving out every piece of hostile ice blocking the view of his true father. Once removed, he saw a
man who worked hard every single day did everything he knew how to for his family and his son.
Reflecting, he asks What did I know, what did I know / of love s austere and lonely offices (Hayden
14)? Love was a part of everything his father did and worked for. As a child, he only saw the side of
his father that struggled to show his love through typical words and expressions leaving him heavy
with guilt. He is now unable to thank his father for everything because what did he know of the love
of a father to his

Coach Knight was Indiana University s head basketball coach and became a legend there. Coach K.

higher priority. Coach K. was a genius in the ability of knowing his professions; this just means his

The capacity model by Michael Mumford contains five components. The skills that attributed to the
success of Coach Knight are the individual attributes. The skills of competency, motivation and more
specifically problem solving skills were the skills he possessed according to this model. He had a
deficit in his social judgment skills and environmental influences that, in turn, worked well for Coach
K and to his success. Coach K. often remarked on his upbringing and how this influenced the quality
of his communication. Coach K. struggled with the area of motivation, especially as it relates to
dominance. As stated above, Coach K. did not want to be a dictator, which simply meant domination
skills where not his priority.
The leadership styles of Coach Knight and Coach K. are different in a few aspects using the Blake
Mouton Managerial Grid. When referring to this leadership grid, Coach Knight falls under Produce or
Parish leadership. He views the players as being the means to an end. When we look at Coach K using
this grid he exemplifies high production high people style. He stresses the needs of producing and the
needs of people of being an equal priority.

Long Term Effects Of Hunger In Africa
Africa was identified as the world s poorest inhabited continent. We waste over 30 million pounds of
food a year. That food that we waste can go to African. To help people in need of food. This year,
nearly 9 million children younger than five years old will die needlessly, more than half from hunger
related causes. Chronic hunger affects more than 925 million people in the world and is, in and of
itself, a potentially deadly condition. Poor people do not have the resources whether land, tools or
money needed to grow or buy food on a consistent basis. People in African starve each day. Not every
poor person is hungry, but almost all hungry people are poor. More and more kids die each day of
thirst and starvation. Millions live with hunger and malnourishment because they simply cannot afford
to buy enough food, cannot afford nutritious foods or cannot afford the farming supplies they need to
grow enough good food of their own.
What s it like to live a life of an African? Similarly, women in hunger are so deficient of basic

State Budget Vs Federal Budget
What is a budget? A budget forecasts the financial results and financial position of a company for one
or more future periods. A budget is used for planning and performance measurement purposes, which
can involve spending for fixed assets, rolling out new products, training employees, setting up bonus
plans, controlling operations, and so forth (Bragg, 2017).
The state of Georgia use different budgeting tools for example revenue projection. The state budget is
made up from the children that are attending grade school from kindergarten thru twelfth. Low income
parent and children and elderly individuals who is in need of medical coverage are included as well.

largest revenue source, accounting for nearly a quarter of annual collections. A fair and reliable
revenue system requires both of these taxes (Bragg, 2017). With budgeting, the federal government

The Genetics For Mongol Migration
Maryann Steadman
ANTH 3125
2014, October 11th
Reflection Paper One
Genetics for Mongol Migration Mongolia is located in between Russia and China, and is a neighbor to
Kazakhstan. The people that live there are called Mongols. Mongolia, which is part of Asia, is part of
what composes Eurasia. When it comes to DNA and chromosomal lineage, there are many factors that
lead to how a person will look, who they will mate with, and what decisions they make in that process.
These categories all run under the term genetics. The second week s lecture said that there are three
major types of genetic data. There is autosomal, Y chromosome, and mitochondrial DNA. Autosomal
is a combination of your mother and father s DNA that makes you. Y chromosomes come from your
father and are given to a son, and mitochondrial DNA comes from your mother. Everyone has the
autosomal and mitochondrial aspects of genetics. The mitochondrial makeup is just what genes you
got from your mother. However, only males have the Y chromosome aspect of genetics since males
sex genes are comprised of XY while females are XX. Mongols (and their language of Mongolic)
originally came from the Altai Mountains, which are near Mongolia (week lecture two). In the second
week s lecture it is also noted that Mongolia may have been the original location for starting Y
chromosomal lineage. In Zerial s article, The Genetic Legacy of the Mongols, it talks about Mongols
being a star cluster for other people.

Herodotus reported that the inhabitants of Thrace made clothes from hemp fibers. It is related that
Hiero [3rd century, BC], tyrant of Syracuse, had hemp brought from Rhodanus in order to equip a
ship. Pausanias [2nd century BC] mentions that hemp and other textile plants were cultivated in Elide;
and Pliny the Elder [Ad 23 79], relates that the sails and cordage of the Roman galleys were made of
hemp. In the thirteenth century, garments of hemp were in common use throughout Southern Europe.
(Andrews 14)
William Randolph Hearst began a smear campaign against hemp in the 1920s and 1930s. Through the
use of yellow journalism Hearst manufactured a new threat to America in a campaign to have hemp
outlawed. For example, a story of a car accident in which a marijuana cigarette was found would
dominate the headlines for weeks, while alcohol related car accidents (which outnumbered marijuana
connected accidents by more than 10,000 to 1) made only the back pages. (Herer Chap 4) From 1910
to 1920, Hearst s newspapers would claim that the majority of incidents in which blacks were said to
have raped white women, could be traced directly to cocaine. This continued for 10 years until

Benefits Of Avocado
2.2 Health and Medicinal Benefits of Avocado
Avocado has several medicinal and health benefits (Irvine, 1961 and Pamplona and Roger, 1998). The
skin of the avocado is used as an antibiotic, for ridding the intestinal tract of parasites, and as a remedy
for dysentery. The seeds are roasted and pulverized for the treatment of diarrhoea and dysentery. In the
powdered form, the seeds have been used as a dandruff treatment. Pieces of avocado seed are placed
in tooth cavities as a toothache palliative. It is recorded that Amazonian natives used avocado to treat
gout. When the pulp of the avocado fruit is added to the diet it helps to reduce cholesterol levels

However, because of the need to utilize surpluses and imperfect fruits, it has been of interest to
process the fruit for extended shelf life time and marketability. Unfortunately, avocado is very
sensitive to heating or freezing. The fruit develop off flavours (Bates, 1970) and discoloration (Golan
et al., 1977) even after the minimal thermal treatment needed to destroy spoilage microorganisms and
deactivate enzymes (Cruess et al., 1951; Brown, 1972; Gracia et al., 1976). Compounds involved in
off flavour and bitterness vary in polarity between neutral lipids to phospholipids (Bates, 1970) and
include 1 acetoxy 2, 4 dihydroxy n heptadeca 16 ene and 1, 2, 4 trihydroxy n heptadeca 16 ene (Ben
Et et al., 1973). Likewise freezing is detrimental to texture and flavor of whole avocado. Although
rapid freezing of avocado slices by liquid Freon (Smith and Winter,1970) or liquid nitrogen with
proper treatment with ascorbic and malic acids (Hanson, 1976) were claimed to produce an acceptable
product, these producers still wait for large scale implementation. In practice, since the available
mechanical equipment separates mashed pulp from the peel after manual removal of the seed, only
mashed avocado can serve as a raw material for processing. Indeed, a frozen puree known as
guacamole salad is the only avocado product of commercial relevance. This product can be stored for

With its assets estimated to total nearly $1 trillion globally, Islamic finance remains tiny compared to
conventional finance with its tens of trillions of dollars. The market in Islamic bonds, or sukuk, is

  • 2. Difference Between Racial Inequality And Justice Tram N Tran JUS 305 September 3, 2015 Instructor M. Clark Sugata Racial Inequality and Justice Justice is a term that should not only prefer to different portions of distribution, but also to the institutional conditions to develop individual capabilities, as well as cooperative communication. Under this conception of justice, many people in the U.S. consider disciplinary justice as an appropriate approach to sustain social order. However, it seems like there are more chances that the minorities are targets of the inequality in justice system, especially in socio economic and political problems. Even if people of color were fully distributed in the capitalist hierarchy like white people, racism is still a big problem of the inequality system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the National Center for Access to Justice (2015), a network of pro bono legal service providers representing the poor has arisen to address the need of justice gap, but more than half of those who seek help are turned away, as a result of unavailable adequate public funds and private donations. By reducing the pro bono law firms, legislators indirectly thrust the poor into lack access of finding qualified attorneys to represent themselves in bureaucratic proceedings. Rhode (2005) suggests that in order to maintain the fairness of American justice, we need to press reforms in political institutions, which has deep ideological and structural roots (p. 126). Those reforms include, but not limited to, the distribution of legal self help materials, the procedures of resolving disputes without lawyers or court hearings, the expansion of pro bono services, and the adequate funding of legal aid agencies (Rhode, 2005, p. 126 134). Even though our laws can policies can change over time, I believe Rhode s suggestions on reforms may have some involved complications due to the lack of political actions, civil disobedience, and direct actions. The United States is a dreadfully unequal society in terms of the distributions of material wealth, especially the outstanding benefits and privileges that accumulate to wealth. This inequality is enormous, regardless of race. However, the minorities are still struggling with the overall system of socio economic inequality in which multiple scholars have to study, analyze, and suggest different solutions for this ... • 3. What Causes Thermohaline Circulation 1. Thermohaline circulation of the ocean corresponds to the change of density in flowing water. It is created through global density gradients constructed by surface heat and freshwater fluxes through the large scale ocean circulation. It is based on deep water currents that make up 90% of the ocean. Water moves around areas found under sea, ocean basins, since density is caused by forces and gravity. The amount of salt in the water and the temperature of the water changes the density. Salinity and cold temperatures make the water more dense which causes deep waters, which form when air temperatures are cold and the salinity of the surface of waters is high, to sink into deep ocean basins at high latitudes where temperatures are cold enough for the density to decrease. In other terms, it is known as part of the ocean circulation created through the differences in densities. The density of the water is dependent on the salinity and temperature which changes from the surface of the water either heating up or cooling down as freshwater flows as said before. Thermohaline circulation moves a massive current around the world not to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The marine ecosystems would die because the nutrients would not be becoming spread out through the flow of the currents not to mention more fish would die since the oxygen supply would decrease if the ocean currents were to collapse fully or partially. The food chain would go off balance because if some animals were to die, their predators would have no prey to eat on so those animals would die of starvation which could lead to extinction and all ocean life being threatened starting with the phytoplankton that uses photosynthesis and is the first in line for the marine food chain not to mention it is essential to all oceanic life. If phytoplankton die, their skin sinks to the bottom of the ocean, the surface of the water is not refilled with nutrients if it were to collapse since the circulation would not move the water down below ... • 4. Modern Day Retelling In The Odyssey The Odyssey a Modern Day Retelling Chad and five of his best friends decided that they were going to go on a road trip from California back to New York (which is where they live). They took a long time planning their trip because they wanted to make sure it was perfect. While planning Chad said, I think we should rent R.V. s from a guy that I know for the trip back. If we get R.V. s the trip will be a lot more fun, we won t have to make as many stops and we won t have to pay for hotels. Chad did most of the planning for the trip because he was the smartest and most clever of his friends. This is going to be one of the best trips you ve ever been on I promise, Chad told his friends. A week later they all took planes to San Francisco California where their trip would begin. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Luke told them, Since I know you guys and i want you to have a great trip I will give you a discount, but you have to tell me all about your trip. Chad and his friends were very thankful and took the offer. After a day in California exploring the city they decided that it was time to head off to their next destination. After a long and gruesome 8 hour drive Chad and his friends finally arrived in Las Vegas Nevada. They were planning on having a lot of fun exploring this city. After resting and then spending a whole day exploring and having fun at all the different casinos, they went to a restaurant called The Lotus. • 5. Marketing Gap Of Brand Extension Essay Brand Extension In the early 1920 s Schiaparelli started a fashion brand that eventually grew to be one of Europe s most revered brands. It was lauded for being both innovative and practical as was witnessed in the divided skirt design modeled by some of the players at the Wimbledon tennis tournament of 1937. The post World War Two era of the late 1940 s saw the brand s fortunes decline drastically as the designs continued with their pre World War Two era trends which were not well received by consumers. The result is that the brand could not sustain itself in the face of competition, declared bankruptcy, and closed down in 1954 (Blum, 2003). As such, Schiaparelli offers an opportunity for brand extension by building on its past successes. A marketing gap analysis of the fashion industry reveals a new market gap, where demand is greater than supply for designs based on unusual clothing items, as an investment opportunity. The eccentric designs cover the period between late 1920 s and late 1950 s. To fill this gap, the designs from Schiaparelli brand have been selected as the base eccentric designs. While Schiaparelli brand closed down in 1954, its influence can be observed in some of the designs of current fashion powerhouses like Chanel (The Fashion Model Directory, 2012). Schiaparelli brand was introduced into the fashion industry in the late 1920 s in Paris when Elsa Schiaparelli, born to Egyptian and Italian higher social class parents, launched a collection of double ... Many American citizens believe that only troubled and famous people take part in affairs, when in reality th is can happen to anyone. Marriage affairs can cause dramatic psychological effects on an individual affecting how they would think, react to small acts of violence, and question why people commit adultery; all have negative impacts on our bodies. Each act of adultery can cause a different psychological effect on a human; portraying the causes of either an emotional or practical affair. The most common one is an emotional affair, because of the psychological impacts it brings towards our mental health. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Leaving us with the question as to why people cheat? One of the first things that comes to peoples mind when thinking of affairs are all set towards Hollywood rumors about celebrities, when in reality it can happen to anyone; Affairs can occur in happy marriages as well as in troubled ones. Although the involved spouse may not be getting enough from the marriage, sometimes the involved spouse is not giving enough. Reasons for EMI include low self esteem, relationship deficits (e.g., lack of affection), or a social context in which infidelity is condoned. (glass) Even with a non problematic relationship people can still fall under the pressure of cheating. One factor can include either spouse losing interest. In some certain cases if either a man or women were to be in fight, and they saw an attractive person of the opposite sex there would be a higher chance of either person committing an infidelity. About 30 60% of married American citizens will cheat on their spouse. A marriage s outcome only reflects the amount of effort that was put into it; Some marriages end in a month and others last fifty years because of the partners beliefs about one another s veracity. • 7. Earthquake Drills In America Why should we prepare? The entire West coast of the Americas lies on the edge of geologic plates, a large portion of these plate boundaries are subduction zones. These geologic features present some very serious risks such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic activity. Although we have known about these risks for many years and have experienced many disasters of varying scales, people living in these known disaster zones still do not prepare. Earthquake drills are usually drills people participate in to streamline evacuation practices implemented by emergency service personnel, but offer little value to participants. How long do you think it will take emergency services to reach you after an earthquake? I used quantitative analysis of quantitative data to create comparative charts of the survey results. The first question I analyzed, How prepared on a scale of 1 5, (five being 100% prepared) are you for an earthquake? used a Likert type scale to gain insight into how prepared participants perceived themselves to be for an earthquake. • 9. Reflective Essay On The Humanist Community Nobody s word is final As a member of the Canberra Humanist society, I felt a spark this year when I heard that some of the members had been investing energy into a program called the Humanist Chaplaincy. This service provides ethical and moral support from a non religious perspective in institutions such as hospitals and universities, employing the most important tool available the art of listening. While the title humanist chaplain sounds like a contradiction in terms to some ears, others have not overlooked its potential and significance. There is not only the positive function this role can serve in the community, but the scope for other community work that would only be limited by our imagination. If Aristotle thought it is the mark of an educated mind to entertain a thought without accepting it , I think it is the mark of an open mind, to entertain a thought without rejecting it. I know from experience how powerful the art of imagination can be. As an incredibly fortunate specimen, I somehow found myself capable of reaching beyond the confines of my narrowly defined identity and noticing a seed of intellectual enlightenment grow after decades of darkness. If that seed can grow at 30 years of age, with literally no prior interest in the Sciences, History, Art, Philosophy, introspection and discourse then it can happen to anyone, any time. Consequentially, each individual has an obligation to formulate his or her own appraisal established through the logistic unification of the particular instant and one s own conception of idealistic righteousness. Reinforcing his case Mill argued that paternalistic intervention is unlikely to work because an individual is acutely more aware of his or her own needs than the state is. Additionally, he argued that it is improbable compulsion would work. This can also be taken into account in the form of liberty. Mill alleges that an autonomous life has more value than a life of dependency, since one cannot be forced to be autonomous paternalism has a damaging effect on an individual. As a contemporarily relevant issue, Devlin indirectly delivers his rebuttal to paternalism by embodying a stance on homosexuality. But funding for such reforestation appears tight (McKenna 17). The solution is possible, however, it will cost too much to fix. Analysis Of Shakespeare s The Winter s Tale Though the idea that women should be subservient is pervasive in Renaissance literature, Shakespeare challenges this concept in The Winter s Tale by providing evidence to the contrary. His female characters are able to gain power using different techniques according to their situations. However, these methods vary greatly between the court of the shepherd in Bohemia and Leontes court in Sicilia. While women in the royal court gain influence through their use of effective rhetoric, Shakespeare describes that Perdita s power in the shepherd s court stems mostly from her beauty. From this juxtaposition, Shakespeare claims that women in a lower class setting are empowered by their appearance while women in an upper class setting use language to affect change. Furthermore, Shakespeare also expresses his contention that men believe in an opposite system of empowerment according to their social class. He argues that gentlemen associate power with appearance and view rhetoric as unimportant while lower class men put more emphasis on language as a means of empowerment. Overall, Shakespeare provides an argument that women are empowered through different methods depending on their socioeconomic standing. Middle and junior high schools face security issues relating to students wanting to cut class. When most students are in their middle school years, they get their first truly rebellious tendencies. As such, students may want to skip school and go places that are not safe and which may expose them to vulnerabilities. Additionally, such students may also attract the attention of outsiders and attempt to bring them back to campus, which would affect the security of the entire school. Many of the security threats that affect high schools are related to those that affect colleges and universities as well. • 36. The Genetics For Mongol Migration Maryann Steadman ANTH 3125 2014, October 11th Reflection Paper One Genetics for Mongol Migration Mongolia is located in between Russia and China, and is a neighbor to Kazakhstan. The people that live there are called Mongols. Mongolia, which is part of Asia, is part of what composes Eurasia. When it comes to DNA and chromosomal lineage, there are many factors that lead to how a person will look, who they will mate with, and what decisions they make in that process. These categories all run under the term genetics. The second week s lecture said that there are three major types of genetic data. There is autosomal, Y chromosome, and mitochondrial DNA. Autosomal is a combination of your mother and father s DNA that makes you. Y chromosomes come from your father and are given to a son, and mitochondrial DNA comes from your mother. Everyone has the autosomal and mitochondrial aspects of genetics. The mitochondrial makeup is just what genes you got from your mother. However, only males have the Y chromosome aspect of genetics since males sex genes are comprised of XY while females are XX. Mongols (and their language of Mongolic) originally came from the Altai Mountains, which are near Mongolia (week lecture two). In the second week s lecture it is also noted that Mongolia may have been the original location for starting Y chromosomal lineage. In Zerial s article, The Genetic Legacy of the Mongols, it talks about Mongols being a star cluster for other people. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(DigitalHemp) Herodotus reported that the inhabitants of Thrace made clothes from hemp fibers. It is related that Hiero [3rd century, BC], tyrant of Syracuse, had hemp brought from Rhodanus in order to equip a ship. Pausanias [2nd century BC] mentions that hemp and other textile plants were cultivated in Elide; and Pliny the Elder [Ad 23 79], relates that the sails and cordage of the Roman galleys were made of hemp. In the thirteenth century, garments of hemp were in common use throughout Southern Europe. (Andrews 14) William Randolph Hearst began a smear campaign against hemp in the 1920s and 1930s. Through the use of yellow journalism Hearst manufactured a new threat to America in a campaign to have hemp outlawed. For example, a story of a car accident in which a marijuana cigarette was found would dominate the headlines for weeks, while alcohol related car accidents (which outnumbered marijuana connected accidents by more than 10,000 to 1) made only the back pages. (Herer Chap 4) From 1910 to 1920, Hearst s newspapers would claim that the majority of incidents in which blacks were said to have raped white women, could be traced directly to cocaine. • 38. Benefits Of Avocado 2.2 Health and Medicinal Benefits of Avocado Avocado has several medicinal and health benefits (Irvine, 1961 and Pamplona and Roger, 1998). The skin of the avocado is used as an antibiotic, for ridding the intestinal tract of parasites, and as a remedy for dysentery. The seeds are roasted and pulverized for the treatment of diarrhoea and dysentery. In the powdered form, the seeds have been used as a dandruff treatment. Pieces of avocado seed are placed in tooth cavities as a toothache palliative. It is recorded that Amazonian natives used avocado to treat gout. However, because of the need to utilize surpluses and imperfect fruits, it has been of interest to process the fruit for extended shelf life time and marketability. Unfortunately, avocado is very sensitive to heating or freezing. The fruit develop off flavours (Bates, 1970) and discoloration (Golan et al., 1977) even after the minimal thermal treatment needed to destroy spoilage microorganisms and deactivate enzymes (Cruess et al., 1951; Brown, 1972; Gracia et al., 1976). Compounds involved in off flavour and bitterness vary in polarity between neutral lipids to phospholipids (Bates, 1970) and include 1 acetoxy 2, 4 dihydroxy n heptadeca 16 ene and 1, 2, 4 trihydroxy n heptadeca 16 ene (Ben Et et al., 1973). Likewise freezing is detrimental to texture and flavor of whole avocado. Although rapid freezing of avocado slices by liquid Freon (Smith and Winter,1970) or liquid nitrogen with proper treatment with ascorbic and malic acids (Hanson, 1976) were claimed to produce an acceptable product, these producers still wait for large scale implementation. In practice, since the available mechanical equipment separates mashed pulp from the peel after manual removal of the seed, only mashed avocado can serve as a raw material for processing. Indeed, a frozen puree known as guacamole salad is the only avocado product of commercial relevance. This product can be stored for weeks frozen at 18°c (Hester and Stephens, 1970; Salomon et ...
