Essay about Whale Hunting By the Makah Tribe
Whale hunting has been a way of life for the Makah Tribe for more than 2000 years. They have
traditionally depended on the whale meat to survive as well as they have utilized the whales
blubber and oil. The dependence on whale hunting has caused the whale to be an integral part of
the Makah culture. The whale is in their songs, dances, designs and basketry. It has given them a
disciple and pride in their tribe. Yet for the past seventy years the Makahhas been prevented from
hunting due to the gray whale, the whale they hunt, being on the endangered list. In 1994 the gray
whale was removed form the endangered list opening the possibility of the Makah Tribe to hunt
again. Yet this possibility has caused anti whalingorganizations... Show more content on

This treaty s importance to the Makahs is due, to what they feel as, their need for their culture to
be able to hunt. They believe that without hunting integrated into their culture their people have
grown restless and lack discipline and pride. The also attribute many of their health problems to
the lack of sea mammal meat in their diet. They believe that the restoration of whaling will help
restore that discipline and pride as well as help physically.
The Makah realize that people are concerned that if they resume whale hunting that the gray
whale will suffer the possibility of extension again. Yet the treaty carries stipulations on what and
how many whales they can kill. The Makah can only kill up to five adult gray males in migration
per year. The are not allowed to hunt a calf or a mother with a calf. With the species having its
largest population ever at 22,263 and increasing 2.5 percent every year, the Makah s hunt will not
threaten the gray whale with endangerment.
Anti whaling organizations argue that if the Makah are allowed to hunt that they should not be able
to hunt the migrating males, only those in permanent residence. Yet Makah Tribal Chairman Greig
Arnold replied Whaling is dangerous enough just to go, and then to add all these stipulations just
makes it more dangerous. These stipulations would force the Makah to hunt in the ocean in
December or early spring when the seas are high and the weather is

Road Salt Persuasive Speech
During the winter months in Toronto, we often see road salt used so much that once there was
even a shortage! Most people from Toronto have to know that we use salt on our road, and some
even use it on their driveways, but few know what the road salt actually does and how it affects
us in the long run.The issue I m going to be discussing today is whether we should or shouldn t
put salt on our roads. There is no other solution than to not do this, so I m writing to you today to
tell you why I think this.
Initially, The salt that we put onto the road ends up affecting water quality. As you may already
know the salt we put on our roads is made up of sodium chloride. We put it on our roads and
eventually, it melts.Where do the melted snow and sodium chloride go? It washes away into
bodies of water or into groundwater supplies. According to Nina Rastogi, a blogger for The Green
Lantern, she says that Researchers in Minnesota recently found that, in the urban Twin Cities area,
70 percent of the salt applied to roads stays within the region s watershed. Once it gets ... Show

Water from precipitation puts oxygen and carbon dioxide in contact with metal car parts.Free
floating ions in road salt come in contact with the water. These ions speed up the formation of
iron oxide.Rust starts forming, since rust is simply a layer of iron oxide that appears after
extensive exposure to oxygen. The addition of salt and water just makes the rusting process occur
faster than normal conditions allow. The only thing we can really do to keep the rusting process a
minimum is to wash and wax your vehicle as much as you can.Sealing your undercarriage helps,
too. It s often the parts of your car you don t see that snow salt can damage the

Explication Of Success Is Counted Sweetest By Emily Dickinson
The poem Success is counted sweetest by Emily Dickinson, discloses human desire to be great.
Lines 1 2, translate as people who have never experienced success understand what victory verily

success higher because they desired it much longer. In addition, Dickinson explains, in order to
grasp something so alluring, one must have the deepest desire for it; To comprehend a nectar

people as successful as soldiers who have prevailed, can not tell what success is (Lines 5 6); Can

Examples Of Reverse Discrimination
The Elimination of Affirmative Action
Throughout American history, there have been many examples of discrimination against minorities
and women. Most of which that range from admissions to hiring policies. With the establishment of
affirmative action, most do not perceive the reality of how it continues to demonstrate the idea of
discrimination. Rather than being discriminated against the minorities, affirmative action is a
perception of reverse discrimination against the majority dominant group; therefor affirmative
action should be abolished from the United States. When there are those minority individuals who
become aware of affirmative action, a stigmatization is potentially created. According to Eric
Dontigney, most often these individuals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most individuals are lowering their standards for accountability needed to push them to perform
and accomplish better. The standards for education and employees are greatly lowered and
influenced by affirmative action. People should be able to act underneath the same standards as
everyone else. Most non minorities get angry because they feel as if minorities are getting a special
treatment. Affirmative action does actually give special treatment and protection the minorities that
live in the United States. This typically makes most individuals feel like they are not able to
succeed on their own and need special assistance to achieve their successes in life. In other words,
affirmative action devalues the accomplishments achieved by minorities. These devaluations later
end up hurting those minority

The Metropolitan Oper A Vibrant Home For The Most Creative
The Metropolitan Opera is a vibrant home for the most creative and talented singers, conductors,
composers, musicians, stage directors, designers, visual artists, choreographers, and dancers from
around the world (Annul Report 2009 2010). This nonprofit organization s mission is majorly,
according to its newest Form 990, to provide the performance of operato public. As a nonprofit
institution, it defined its vision as sustaining, encouraging, and promoting musical art, and
educating the general public about music, particularly opera (Our Story, the Met). The Metropolitan

For most opera organizations, ticket sales contributed around 40% of the operating budget. Over
the past fifteen years, main season attendance at opera performances fluctuated between 3 and 4
million, compared to eight to eleven million for Broadway shows and 25 to 30 million for
symphony orchestras. Some opera managers speculated that audience exhaustion with repetitive
repertoire had contributed to a decline in attendance. Others attributed the lack of interest to
poor awareness of individual opera singers. (Gelb) The majority of fund operations came from
government grant for many arts organizations, but at the same time a much greater percentage of
non ticket revenues, roughly 41%, came from private contributions. It is still important for the
business to attract more individual customers. The whole industry needs innovation. Peter Gelb
and his The Met Opera played a role as the leader of this innovation. The new way of increasing
revenue that was introduced by Peter Gelb brings a new idea for this industry to keep alive in
the 21st century with no doubt. Internally, like other companies focus on human resources, to

Technology and Teenagers Essay
Everywhere you go teens seem to be glued to their phones, tablets, or computers. Technology is
an addiction that does not seem to be going away any time soon. According to the Washington
Post, teens can spend up to seven or more hours on their digital devices a day and the usage is still
increasing. Not surprisingly enough, more than a third of all teenagers own a cellphone, ranging
from a smart phone or just a plain old school flip phone. But can spending all that time on their
computers and smart devices be such a bad thing? Today s easy access, always on world presents a

school staff to understand the given technology so they can distribute the information effectively to

passionate of their work. Technology has the potential to transform the learning environment from
passive to active and more subject to the control of the learner. (qtd. In Lavin, Korte, Davies). It is
unfortunate to say that everything teenagers search for online is not educational or socially

technology in classrooms. Contrary to popular belief, Lowerison did not find significant
relationship between actual computer use and perceived effective computer usage on course

Superstitions In The Minister s Black Veil
In The Minister s Black Veil by Nathaniel Hawthorne, the author seeks to convey that although all
individuals are sinners, members of society will condemn those who seek to confront their own
faults. This conclusion was drawn from the many motifs which relate to Puritan society,
particularly the superstitions and Christian ideologies of many New Englanders during the 18th
century. In this tale, Mr. Hooper s donning of the black veil is viewed as a change which alters his
countenance indefinitely; from the moment it is introduced, those who view it are awestruck. The
mere sight of Mr. Hooper even acts as a signal for the bell to cease its summons . As murmurs
spread throughout the congregation, Mr. Hooper preaches of secret sin, and those

Methods to Determine Cable Size under Harmonic Condition
In many methods, skin and proximity effects are very important. Another important parameter is
alternative current (a.c.) resistance, rac. This parameter is frequency dependence. It can be shown
that rac increased with the increased of frequency (Du, Burnett, (2000), (Demoulias, Labridis,
Dokopoulos Gouramanis, 2007), (Desmet, Vanalme, Belmans, Van Dommelen, 2008). Some
research papers used value from published graph such as by The Okonite Company and Anixter
Inc. (The Okonite Company, 2001), (Anixter Inc., n.d.). However upon inspection, it was found
that the graph is produced on the basis of fundamental frequency of 60 Hz and using imperial
unit. Some other sources, although on 50 Hz as fundamental basis, give limited data such as
(Moore, 1997), (Coates, n.d). As an alternative, formula from IEC 287 1 1 was used to calculate
the rac (IEC, 1994).
Skin and proximity effects are part of formula to calculate cable ampacity known as Neher
McGrath (NM) method in 1957 (Blackledge, O Connell, Barrett Sung, 2012, 2012). However this
method, according to the authors, could not handle a range of harmonic frequencies. In 1991, Ajit
Hiranandani (AH) introduced a way to calculate temperature and ampacity of a cable using
generalised finite difference model (Hiranandani, 1991). Hiranandani (1995) produced a paper
which tackles the problem of size selection for cable under harmonic condition. In this paper, he
introduced term such as harmonic signature (HS), with reference to

Nowadays as I ve observed justice seem to only be served to the wealthy, famous, and well liked.
It seems like regardless of whether they are wrong they still get away with crimes that others are

aspects of Marketing may be common in International Business, there are areas like Marketing

business is conducted from different lands, so the seller may not be very well acquainted with the

Simon Quotes In Lord Of The Flies
Characters Clarified Simon was the wisest boy of the group on the island. He knew before
anyone else that the beast was not some physical creature to be scared of. He knew the beast was
not something they could just kill. This is shown in the quote, However Simon thought of the
beast, there rose before his inward sight the picture of a human at once heroic and sick (Golding,
page 103). Simon was a shy boy, therefore he held back this knowledge of the beast from the
boys knowing they would find it silly and push it aside. When Golding says a human at once
heroic and sick it is an example of how someone could be so good but have that inner evil within
themselves. Jack was once seen as heroic for supplying the group with meat from a pig but later he
began to sicken, becoming too engulfed in killing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nobody seems to listen to Piggy s intelligent ideas of how they should act on the island in order
to survive. When Jack began assembling his own group of boys, under his leadership, things
began to fall apart. Piggy is expressing his frustration towards the boys in the quote, Can t they
see? Can t they understand? Without the smoke signal we ll die here? Look at that! (Golding,
page 139). Piggy, like Simon, has always questioned if the beast could be deeper than a real
being. Therefore, Piggy had a greater fear of the boys abandoning the fire, than he did of the
beast. The boys are being naive, going after pigs and the beast instead of tending the fire, and
Piggy realizes that. He is aware that the boys don t see the importance in the fire signal as he and
Ralph do. Abandoning the fire will lead to no rescue and eventually death upon the island. This
could be foreshadowing Piggy s death since the group of savage boys end up killing

Stainless Steel Lab Report Discussion
Analysis The observations during this experiment mean several things. The bubbles around the
materials in the beginning of each trial show that there is a reaction starting to happen. The bubbles
around the stainless steel can mean that, while there was no measurable change in the mass, it is
possible some of the stainless steelwas corroded. This prediction was confirmed in the second trial
when the stainless steel did have a measurable change in mass. The change in color in the water
of the steel shows that a solid precipitate was created. There was also evidence of a precipitate in
the flakes around the steel. Another piece of evidence showing that precipitate formed was the
cloudiness of the liquid around the iron. The reason that the vinegar smell dissipated from the iron
and mild steel is because all of the acetic acid in the vinegar was used up creating what would
have been just water if a precipitate had not formed. The modeof each trial varies for each metal,
and each one shows something different. The modes for Iron in trial one are 0.3% and 0.4%. These
show that they corroded a little, and consistently due to the fat... Show more content on

The copper in this experiment was the least corroded, as was predicted. When the metals are
compared to mild steel, the standard of comparison, all of them performed better, so they would
all make better tanks according to the results of this experiment. The practical applications of this
would be using copper to make the tanks under gas stations. For further experimentation one could
investigate the discrepancy in the mild steel between trials 1 and 2. One could also investigate the
effect of oxidation on how well the metals would work. There is also the possibility of
investigating which metal would be the most cost effective. Another investigation that could be
done would be seeing if the surface area of the samples would affect the corrosion of the

Young Goodman Brown Character Analysis
Why are humans so judgmental of each other and of themselves, and with the harshest
application? What causes such abysmal behavior? Is it because of low self esteem, envy, fear of
rejection/feeling threatened or part of our culture or religion. Whatever the reasons Young
Goodman Brown and A Good Man Is Hard to Find illustrates the dangers of being judgmental.
Brown see his self as a good person prior to entering the forest, and the grandmother from A Good
Man Is Hard to Find see herself as an upstanding southern woman until the end shows her different.
Let s explore Young Goodman Brownto see if there is a lesson to be learned about the dangers of
being judgmental. Brown is a young man living in the seventeen centuries and in Salem a town
known as the capital of witchcraft. Hawthorne references three dark events from the Puritans
history: the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, the Puritan intolerance of the Quakers, and King Philip s
War. During the Salem Witch Trials, one of the most nightmarish episodes in Puritan history, the
villagers of Salem killed twenty five innocent people who were accused of being witches. The
witch hunts often involved accusation based on revenge, jealousy, botched child delivery and other
reason that had little to do with perceived witchcraft. Based on the history of the town it is easy to
see why Young Goodman Brown is easily in tangled with corrupt thoughts about his friends and
family because of Puritan history. Coupled with Brown, going

Underground Economies And Its Effects On Canada
This paper looks into the different types of underground economies and its effects on Canada, and
argues that underground economy is destructive to the society and should be eliminated as much

market is affecting the GDP. It also discusses the main causes as to why some sellers choose to be
in the underground economy and how they could benefit from it temporarily. Underground
economies in a long run are invisible actions that creates very visible consequences, including the

All kinds of goods and services are available in an underground economy. The most commonly
traded goods and services are goods and services that are available in the official market, but at a
lower cost in the black market; or goods and services that has a limited supply in the official
market, but are sold at an elevated price in the Black market. Despite the trade being illegal, as
long as both the seller and buyer comes to an agreement on the price, they trade privately with
cash to avoid being detected. Although many sellers get away with this, at the end of the day
underground economy is a continued cycle of affecting the country and its citizens, including
sellers and buyers in the black market, mostly its tax revenues will be affected, then the GDP, and
finally its citizens. All Black market trades are done in the shadows, but if the root causes of the
continued growth in the underground economy are known, things could be done to eliminate the
number of black market trades as much as possible. Underground economy is disruptive to the
society, to avoid these negative effects; it should be eliminated as much as possible.
The unreported economy causes tax evasion and that affects everybody in Canada. There are
various negative effects regarding the black market; doubtful the most significant one is the effect it
has on tax revenues the unreported economy. Tax revenue is the sum of all different kinds of taxes

Aspects Of Romanticism As Described By Wolfson And Manning
Aspects of Romanticism as Described by Wolfson and Manning
The period in time between 1785 and 1835 in Europe has come to be known in literature as the
Romantic Period. The Romantic Period was shaped by the eruption of a new social order and
the rights of man rather than the control from the wealthy and privileged. There were arguments
for and against the rights of women, debates over the abolition of Britain s slave trade and of
slavery in it colonies, movements for social and political remedies for the poor; and a newly
emergent class consciousness among discontented workers in Britain s fields, mines, factories, and
mills (Wolfson 8). During this time, many poems, sonnets and novels emerged as a way for writers
to express their feelings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The aspects of Romanticism that these poems reflect are imagination, nature, and the movement
towards liberty and equality. Wolfson and Manning described the significance of imagination in
The Romantics and their Contemporaries , In this vibrant culture of new imaginative possibilities,
Imagination itself became a subject of reflection, and often debate (Wolfson 8). The poem Kubla
Khan , shows the importance of imagination in romantic literature. The enchanted dreams and
inspired visions that Wolfson and Manning describe are shown many times throughout Kubla
Khan, when the author is describing his dream And mid these dancing rocks at once and ever, It
flung up momentarily the sacred river (Coleridge 670). Nature was also a significant and
reoccurring theme during the Romantic Period. Writers tended to focus on the educational
aspects that nature could provide to the reader. Wordsworth describes his opinion on the
importance of nature and its educational value it holds in his poem The Tables Turned . Books!
tis a dull and endless strife, Come, hear the woodland linnet, How sweet his music; on my life,
There s more of wisdom in it (Wordsworth 427). Wordsworth s reply suggests that he doesn t need

Charlemagne s Disappearance
After the fall of Rome, havoc descended upon Europe as it fell into a dark age of chaos and
destruction. Everything that the Romans had ever aspired to build was put into disfunction. As
the people were free from a governing rule, the long period of peace was over. The previous
Roman citizens were left with a new world that they had not experienced before one without a
job to works in, a job to feed their families. They no longer had anyone to pay taxes to. As a
result, all of the other benefits of the kingdom such as the aqueducts and the roads, were no longer
being repaired. Daily life was a struggle, as barbarians ruled the streets, making homes and camps

To start, Charlemagne was respected by his people because he gave people what they needed: a
better way to live life. He provided free education for all of the people in his kingdom, by
creating new schools to educate his people to have a better life. As a result, Charlemagne
became even more likable, with the people enjoying a chance to have a better education as well
as a better view point of a life less barbaric. Next, Charlemagne tried to be more than a ruler and
more a part of the community. One of the reasons why Charlemagne is so famous is because he
tried to educate himself. He was described by Einhard as a great teacher, as he was capable in
multiple languages, along with being taught by some great teachers. Rather that being a great
ruler by educating his people, he became an even greater ruler by educating himself. By doing
this, his people had even more faith in the fact that he was going to rule properly, that every
decision that he made was well thought out. Born into a period where education was scarce if
existent, this was an astonishing act. Lastly, Charlemagne was respected by his people because of
his work with public structures. This King, who showed himself so great in extending his empire
and subduing foreign nations, and was constantly occupied with plans to that end, undertook also
very many works calculated to adorn and benefit his kingdom... (Einhard). Some of these
additions included a half mile long bridge, and a basilica. Whenever Charlemagne would see
something is disrepair, he would consult priests to go get it fixed. To finish, Charlemagne, was not

primer residue, and powder particles are all driven into the wound track along with the bullet.
(DiMaio 1998)
In hard contact wounds, the muzzle of the weapon is held very tightly against the skin or clothing
of the victim, indenting it so that the skin/clothing covers the muzzle at the time of discharge,
essentially forming a seal. This seal prevents the escape of the gases due to combustion, forcing
them and other materials emerging from the muzzle into the wound, often leaving very little
external evidence. However, upon further inspection, you will note searing and soot (black powder)
around the immediate edge of the wound. (Crankshaft, n.d.) ... Show more content on

These types of wounds are most common in the head and are caused by the effects of the gas
upon discharge. When the gun is fired, the gases caused by the combustion of the propellant
escape the barrel in a highly compressed state and enter the skin into the subcutaneous tissue where
the gases expand. In a contact wound to the head, these gases will expand between the skin and
outer layer of the skull, lifting the skin up, much like an expanding balloon. If the skin is not
elastic enough for the expansion, it will tear, producing the stellate or cross like appearance.
Another type of wound to the head may occur, other than a stellate or skin tear as the skin may
balloon out against the gun muzzle with sufficient force to imprint the muzzle onto the skin,
sometimes in great detail. These types of imprints can also occur in the chest and abdomen. (DiMaio

On December 7, 1941, early in the morning Japan attacked the American naval base at Pearl

The day after bombing, Congress approved Roosevelt s declaration to start the war with Japan.
After that Italy and Germany declared war on the United States. Couple months after the tragical

Bigger Thomas, of Native Son and Tupac Shakur Essay
Negro writers must accept the nationalist implications of their lives, not in order to encourage them,
but in order to change and transcend them. They must accept the concept of nationalism because, in
order to transcend it, they must posses and understand it.
Richard Wright
In 1996, famed rapper and entertainer Tupac Shakur[1] was gunned down in Las Vegas.
Journalistic sentiment at the time suggested he deserved the brutal death. The New York Times
headline, Rap Performer Who Personified Violence, Dies, suggested Shakur, who was twenty five
when he died, deserved his untimely death. (Pareles, 1996) A product of a fatherless home, raised

A victim of the same impoverished environment as Shakur, Bigger personifies violence in the
form of the real murders of Mary Dalton and Bessie, unlike Shakur who only talks and sings of
murder. In Native Son, Wright, for better or for worse, presents his readers with an entity in Bigger
Thomas who achieves self realization only after murder, and this characterization suggests violence
presents a kind of road which winds down into self consciousness and self awareness, a road many
African Americans, most notably gangster rappers, cannot help but continue to travel on today.
While one can argue that violence in African AmericanпїЅcultureпїЅ owes its origins to the days of
slavery, I would contend that violence and the reaction to fear(s) is what constitutes

Negative Effects Of Aging
Effects of Aging
In this Article titled Effects of Aging and Adult Development Education and
Service Learning on Attitude, Anxiety, and Occupational Interest by Stefanie S. Boswell1 over
looks the effect of aging and adult development component on attitudes toward older adult men and
women, which then includes topics such as; aging anxiety, and interest in occupations that serve
older adults among individuals training for careers in healthcare and social services (Boswell).
According to Medicine.Net, the definition of Aging is The process of becoming older, a process
that is genetically determined and environmentally modulated. Within the paragraphs, there are
three dividing sections that will touch upon on the study of adult development, the science behind
the brain, and the physical changes within the aging group. Several researchers have investigated
the ability of aging and adult development/gerontology education to quell ageist attitudes and
aging anxiety (Boswell) To better explain this will be to state that anyone who s reaching a older
age has a harder time understanding they aren t the same person of 10 years ago and that alone
causes emotional thoughts of where has life gone and where is it going from here.
Starting off with the Study of Adult Development, I researched from the government census,
Between 2012 and 2050, the United States will experience considerable growth in its older
population 2050, and the population aged 65 and over is projected to be 83.7 million, almost
double its estimated population of 43.1 million in 2012. The baby boomers are largely
responsible for this increase in the older population as they began turning 65 in 2011. By 2050,
the surviving baby boomers will be over the age of 85. Can you imagine 83.7 million of elderly
citizens in United States alone? That s quite a dramatic number. Since the older population is a
big factor in the aging process, how will we communicate or grasp their attention? Understanding
the meaning of aging has four parts, Perceived age, Biological age, Psychological age, and
sociocultural age. Perceived age refers to the age you think of yourself as . Whether that is a
positive outcome or a negative outcome of your age and of how you

Special Educational Needs Schools Necessary For Children...
Are special educational needs schools necessary for children with profound and multiple
learning difficulties? Abstract The research undertaken for this assignment intended to highlight
issues related to inclusion in mainstream education for students with profound and multiple
learning difficulties (PMLD). The research found that John Cleveland College, a mainstream
secondary school in Leicestershire, would not be able to meet the needs of these young people
and will consider the need for staff training to improve skills and knowledge in order for this
inclusive practice to become possible. The assignment discusses the implications of studies
which suggests that mainstream schools may be able to support the progress of learners with
PMLD in ways that special schools may not. The essay reaches its conclusion by asking for a
shift away from the assumption that special educational needs schools are always the best
environment for children with PMLD. Are special educational needs schools necessary for
children with profound and multiple learning difficulties? My context is that I am an Assistant

Foundationalism In William Shakespear s Much Ado About...
The word Foundationalism was given a clear definition by Descartes, meaning someone looking
for a clear and certain foundation. There is a way to accomplish this task, meaning order to find
or build a foundation or a base that is certain, one must first destroy everything one believes to
know start from the very beginning. The goal is to find things that are absolute indubitable ,
meaning it is 100 percent certain or it can not under any circumstances be doubted (Descartes 13).
The play Much ado about nothingwritten by William Shakespear would not be the first thing that
comes to mind when considering anything being indubitable. It is entails clear social and gender
issues of its time. With this essay, I wish to point out how the men boast themselves in so much
honor and masculinity, that they are easily blinded by a simple lie. So simple in fact, that it took an
entire plot built on Hero s death to reveal the truth. If a woman s mind, body and soul were more
valuable, there would have been no need to lie and deceive once more to prove Hero s
innocence. This is important, because women are still judged more harshly for being involved
with a man before marriage, or having multiple partners. While men can marry after being known
to be very far from celibacy themselves, but wish to have a virgin or a woman with fewer and
closer to zero sexual partners. This misogynistic double standard was carried into the movie by
Kenneth Branagh. In this case, first I would like to look

The Second Sex Simone De Beauvoir Analysis
Revolutionary and thought provoking, Simone De Beauvoir s The Second Sex is a novel that
challenged the subordination of women brought upon by men and illustrated a feminist and
philosophical perspective on rights of women. Working alongside with Jean Paul Sartre, De
Beauvoir s work in The Second Sex underlies Sartre s concept of bad faith in relation to De
Beauvoir s concept of the battle of the sexes. Being confined by her own immanence in a male
dominated society, De Beauvoir illustrates that the feminine subject declares herself as their equal
in relation to the transcendence of the male for the struggle for recognition because it is affecting
her free will and responsibility (De Beauvoir 428). By recognizing the female, the male attempts to
find himself as a stable identity to transcend as the male figure through the devaluation of
femininity and the oppression of women. Lastly, De Beauvoir believes that the construct of
femininity is itself a product, as Sartre puts it, of bad faith because one is not born, but rather
becomes, a woman. Conceived by Jean Paul Sartre, the concept of bad faith underlies Simone De
Beauvoirs concept of the so called battle of the sexes. In order to explain how the concept of bad
faith relates to the concept of the battle of the sexes, one has to understand Sartrean philosophy.
According to Sartre, bad faith is an act of deceiving oneself by rejecting the notion of freedom and
one s facticity, even though human beings are

My life in the country was simple, I did not have to work as a paperboy, my father was actually

the war. It was November 11, 1918, school was canceled everywhere and the streets were
crowded with people of every race cheering. I was excited, but then I remembered my father
playing baseball with my brothers and me in the front yard before the war even started. Nice
catch, he would say as I snagged the pop up. I can still picture with clarity his voice as he spoke.
He was the bravest man there was. He enlisted right when the war started. Ma was against it, but
he wanted to help the country. This was when we had to leave or country life behind and move
to the big city. New York was where we were headed and I was pretty bummed about leaving all
my friends behind. A change of scenery brought much excitement to me, though. Talk about
drive to new york here. Wow, I said as i saw all the different people passing. Buildings of all
shapes and sizes were around us. I saw a particularly strange building which was almost
completely flat. We arrived at the apartment we were going to stay in. I didn t say it out loud,

Love Of Love In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Shakespeare s tale Romeo and Juliet is all about the love displayed by characters, including the
platonic love that is demonstrated by best friends Romeo and Mercutio. Both Baz Luhrmann and
Franco Zeffirelli are able to portray this perfectly in their own different ways during the major fight
scene between Tybalt and Mercutio. Baz Luhrmann is able to portray lovein this fight scene with
dramatic and intense music, along with fast paced camera work and close up shots. The close ups,
for example, are very important in displaying the love between Mercutio and Romeo. Whilst
Mercutio intervenes between the fight of Romeo and Tybalt, Luhrmann uses close ups to
demonstrate how much Romeo and Mercutio mean to each other. From the close up of the two,
the audience can clearly see the distress that is shown on Romeo s face when he sees that Mercutio
is dead. For the love of family that is displayed throughout this scene especially by Tybalt,
Luhrmann uses fast paced intense music to show how heated it is for Tybalt, and how much he
dislikes the Montague household, due to the love for his own household, the Capulets. On the other
hand, Franco Zeffirelli isn t able to use these cinematic techniques due to them not appealing to the
target audience. Zeffirelli doesn t need to use over dramatised cinematic techniques to portray the
friendship that Romeo and Mercutio share as they don t appeal to his target audience. Instead,
Zeffirelli uses the emotions of the characters and the way that

Narrative Essay About My Adventure
This past summer, I invited Kate to stay at my cottage. Every night after a late dinner we went
out to the point of the island and watched the boats go by while shouting at them. One night my
mom called to us, Guys, it s getting dark outside come back in . So we started running back and
climbing up the rocks when something ran right past our feet. What was that? Kate asked me. I
really had no idea what it was so I told her exactly that. The unknown creature turned out to be a
vole, which we later named Vole demort. The next day we looked for Vole demort, but we
couldn t find him. That was when we realised that he was nocturnal and probably only came out
at night. So we devised a plan. We would bring our shoes into my room, wait until everyone is
asleep, then use the exit in my room to escape to our adventure. We thought our plan was
foolproof, but I forgot one small detail, my parents go to sleep really late, and as for my brother,
well he stays up all night watching youtube. The worst part about this was that my room was
right next to my brothers, so we shared a deck: meaning Kate and I had to pass by his room to
get to where we wanted. Eventually, I realised that my brother s curtains were probably closed
and even if they weren t, he was way too into his screen to notice us passing by. So at about 3:30
in the morning, after Kate and I had both voiced our thoughts saying things along the lines of,
When should we go? Or Should we just go now? We decided to go. We geared up; we put on our
shoes, we pulled our sweaters over our heads, and got the most important things, our phones. As
we exited the cottage into the cool night we turned on the flashlights on our phones. First, we
stayed just a little bit outside my room, laid down and looked up at the stars, and Kate
whispered, Wow, this is actually so cool Yeah. It is I responded in an equally low tone. We
whispered back and forth for a bit, then I said, Let s go to the other side so we can see more of
the sky without the cottage blocking it But isn t your parents room on that side Yeah, it is, but we

Difference Between Peanut Butter And Jelly Essay
For starters, I decided to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich placed on a napkin. The
materials that I needed were peanut butter, grape jelly, bread, a butter knife, and a napkin. I
placed the materials in front of me then sat on my dominant hand as instructed. The first thing I
had to do was open up the napkin and then get 2 slices of bread. I think this was fairly easy since
I didn t have to do anything major. The next step was to apply the peanut butter on one slice of
bread and grape jelly on the other slice of bread. I found this the most difficult part for many
reasons. One, my hands are small so it was hard to wrap my hand around the peanut butter lid.
Secondly, I could not get a good grip on the lid of the container. I kept trying for 4 minutes to open
it but I was unsuccessful.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then I took the lid off and placed it on the table. I grabbed the butter knife and swiped some
peanut butter. The next part was the hardest, trying to evenly spread the peanut butter on the
bread. I tried to swipe it on the bread but the peanut butter was not creamy instead it had a thick
texture. So I tried to grip the knife between my thumb and pointing finger while using my other
fingers to hold down the bread. However, that didn t go too well since I ended up ripping the
bread in half. Evenutally, I gave up and moved on to the grape jelly. It was fairly easy to open up
the lid and pour the jelly on to the bread. However, by the time I finished I had lost my appetite
so I gave the sandwich to my mom who added bananas to it. Then I had to clean up my mess and
that didn t go too well. I had the hardest time getting the twist thing back on the bread bag. Then I
had to make multiple trips to the kitchen to place everything back in their correct spot since I could

What Is The Role Of The Suffragettes In The Early 20th...
Suffragettes in the 20th century, such as Emily Davidson and Emmeline Pankhurst, used radical
tactics to achieve their goal of gaining the right to vote. Men were also involved in the Suffragette

Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, characterizing himself in opposition to the great masses of
humanity as a perfectly honest man. The honesty that Nick attributes to himself must be a nearly

The discussion immediately preceding the characterization is most pressing on an interpretation
of this self characterization, as it provides a clear example of Nick s dishonesty just moments
before he claims to be perfectly honest. Nick says of Jordan Baker, Her grey sun strained eyes

Immediately preceding his statement about being one of the few honest people he has ever known,
he admits to both falsely proclaiming his love and perpetuating a vague understanding he had no
intention of fulfilling. What s more, Nick takes his long belated decision to now, finally, deal with
the situation as evidence of his perfect honesty ignoring entirely the preceding weeks and months of

had few options for safe living space. The Nazi campaign against the Jewish people as well as the

welcomed the Jewish refugees before World War II as they fled the political upheaval in Germany.
The war, however, convinced Parliament to forbid further immigration; furthermore, it committed
to an aggressive internment policy against German, Austrian, and Italian Jews. Like Britain, the

An Analysis of William Edward Burghardt Du Bois Proposed...
Abstract Education is the most important part of any individual s life. It shapes characters and
builds personalities, introvert and extrovert, pessimistic and optimistic, loving and aggressive.
For a better society an improved educational system is a must, a system based on ethics and
knowledge. The paper examines the work and educational principles of W.E.B. Dubois and then
compares his proposed system to the currently prevalent educational system. Introduction
William Edward Burghardt Du Bois is one of the greatest African Americans in history. He was
born, 23rd February 1868 in Massachusetts. Du Bois had an unusual life, in the sense that in his
early years he knew nothing of the racial discrimination prevalent in the South. He lived a life of
privilege for a black in U.S. He faced neither outright discrimination nor economic difficulties. He
graduated as a Valedictorian and the only colored student and even went on to become the first
black to secure a doctorate degree in history, from Harvard. It was during graduation that he got
first taste of the racial prejudice prevalent in the American society. He began educating himself
in the history of discrimination. He took a Bachelor s degree from Fisk University, where he
came face to face with racism and frequent lynching or name calling. He vowed to elevate the
status of his race and help solve what he referred to as, the Negro problem. At Fisk he was part of

In order to see how successful the merchandise is I would look at the previous year s sales in that

been in the store prior to the introduction of the new department. Looking at the individual sales
of these items would show the increase or decrease in sales from last year. On average pre
introduction of the sporting goods department I saw maybe 20 people in the store. Now I cannot
even count how many people are shopping in the store, which shows an increase in customer
traffic potentially increasing sales. The turnover on merchandise is hard to see with the type of
merchandise on display, there are no outs on in the display cases. There are also no obvious set
locations for the merchandise in the case. If the last gun of a specific model is sold a different one
can be put in its place. One item in this department I can discuss is the .22 ammo, I know that they
only receive a shipment of 200 boxes a day and according to the sales associate they sold out at

personnel, whether delivering logistics, providing medical care, or administrative paperwork,
leaders ensure the inclusion of the ethos. Not taking care of personnel, we ultimately do a
disservice to them and their families. Over the next ten years, honor and values must be stressed in
the military. The American people trust the military more than they trust their own elected officials.

North East And South Korea
South Korea is one of the fastest growing countries in the world. It is located in Eastern Asia, on
the southern half of the Korean Peninsula bordering the Sea of Japan and the Yellow Sea. It is
neighbors with North Korea to the north, Japan to the east and China to the west. Seoul is the
capital and the second largest metropolitan city in the world. Its total area is 38,462.49 square
miles, approximately the size of Kentucky. South Koreacan be divided into four general regions: an
eastern region of high mountain ranges and narrow coastal plains; a western region of broad
coastal plains, river basins, and rolling hills; a southwestern region of mountains and valleys; and
a southeastern region dominated by the broad basin of the Nakdong River.
(www.southkoreagovernment.com). In the 7th century three kingdoms came together to form
Korea. In the last 100 years, Korea has been invaded, subjugated and divided. Today, the country
is physically divided, the result of a war between North and South Korea, which began in 1950
and never ended. The fighting ended in 1953 with an armistice agreement, but a cease fire
agreement still carries on today. In less than 6 decades, South Korea has risen to become an
economic powerhouse in the world. It has hosted an Olympics Games, Co hosted a World Cup and
in 2010 became the first Asian nation to host a G20 summit. Professor KyongSoo Lho stated South

Collecting Qualitative Data Paper
PART 1
Collecting Qualitative Data
Research truly is essential to the success of any marketing campaign or process and can greatly
contribute to the success of a product, service or brand in the marketplace. Market research can help
to determine risks and opportunities within the market, and can provide a greater depth of
understanding of consumers and the target audience. Market research helps to define and solve
research problems and this is extremely beneficial to any business or organisation (Burns Bush,
2003). By having consumer insight because of market research, marketers are able to promote a
product to the true relevant target market, rather than wasting time and money promoting to the
whole marketplace. There are two main methods of market research, being qualitative research and
quantitative research. Both of these methods have benefits and can be used in conjunction, but for
the best results one method of data collection is often used. Quantitative data focuses on a
numerical approach to data collection via the use of statistics and information taken from surveys
and census data. Qualitative data however focuses on gathering information and exploratory
research through observations and interviews. The main approaches to collecting this type of data
are experience or expert surveys, focus groups, and in depth interviews (Diekroger, 2014).

Kohlberg s Theory Of Moral Development Essay
Lawrence Kohlberg is best known for his theory of moral development. This is a psychological
theory which Kohlberg was influenced by psychologists Jean Piaget and John Dewey stage of
development. Kohlberg developed most of his ideas based on Piaget s theory of cognitive
development. Accordingly, the theory of moral development consists of three levels of moral
reasoning: pre conventional, conventional, and post conventional. Additionally, it is broken down
into two stages per level. Pe conventional is stage one of obedience and punishment; stage two is
individual interest. Conventional is stage three of interpersonal and stage four is about authority.
Lastly, post conventional is stage five of social contrast and stage six of universal... Show more

Their explanation was It s against the law or It s inferior to steal according to Crain, a professor
at The City College of New York. In stage two individual interest children commence recognizing
the right viewpoint. In contrast with stage one: stage two punishments are simply a risk that one
wants to avoid (Crain). Studies show boys want to avoid punishment because of their own
interest. On of stage two s characteristics is to act of someone s own attentiveness. Level one of
moral development involves the authorities laws and one s own interest. (Crain). The subsequent
level in the theory of moral development is conventional morality. The stages included in this
level: interpersonal and authority. Children that are typically in stage four are pre teens that are
starting to understand morality with a better comprehension of what it actually means. Children
want the approval of others, so they can have the desire of being a generous person. Preteens react
this way in the sense of getting something vigorous out of it, in this case being an exceptional
person. An example of this stage is: a child gives away her lunch to a street peasant because she
thinks doing so means being nice (Sincero). The following stage authority, law, and order involves
respecting the law and following the obligations of a duty. Nevertheless, members of a community

Hipwar Case Study
The album didn t come with any promotion or advertising. Top Dawg CEO Anthony Tiffith
announced that TDE would be releasing something, but nobody expected it to be an eight track
K.Dot album. Kendrick doesn t really have an overly active presence on social media, there s no
video clips, the album doesn t even have a real name or track listing, and the cover itself is just
plain green with a tiny bit of text in the corner. Despite no hype (save for a slightly early Spotify
leak which sent music journalists and fans alike into brief meltdown) or publicity, the album still
managed to debut at the top spot on the Billboard charts, his second album in under a year to do
so. In the past year, we have seen more and more rappers partaking in publicity stunts, most
notably social media beefsThe basic result of these public beefs was still a focus on the music,
with record sales increasing at the same time as but not specifically, strictly intending to alienate

The Biblical Subtext in Samuel Beckett’s Waiting For Godot...
Samuel Beckett may have renounced the use of Christian motifs in Waiting for Godot, but
looking at the character of Lucky proves otherwise. We can see Lucky as a representative figure
of Christ as his actions in the play carry a sort of criticism of Christianity. His role suggests that the
advantages of Christianity have declined to the point where they no longer help humanity at all. If
you analyze the poem Waiting for Godotyou can see the huge parallels between the character of
Luckyand Jesus. Lucky, bound with a rope, is the disgraced prisoner, very similar to the story of
Jesus as the prisoner of the Romans after Judas turned him in. Pozzo beats, yells at, and spits on
Lucky the same way the Roman treated Jesus when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lucky slowly chokes as the rope cuts into his neck just as crucifixion suffocated Jesus until he was
dead. Pozzo, rephrasing Estragon s question, then asks a emblematic question concerning Lucky,
he asks Why he doesn t make himself comfortable? . This question refers specifically to the
taunting spectators gave to Jesus, telling him to save himself and if he is the son of God to get
himself off the cross, this also refers generally to Christ s mission of suffering on earth to
forgive us of our sins. Pozzo tells them that Lucky doesn t want to let go of the luggage because
He wants to mollify me, so that I will give up the idea of parting with him . He also says that
Lucky imagines that when I see how well he carries I ll be tempted to keep him on in that
capacity . This is extremely similar to the way that Jesus believed that he had to carry out his
burden of crucifixion to awaken humanity s faith in God for time to come. Jesus directed his
apostles to make disciples of all nations and to teach them to carry out everything I have
commanded you. And always know that I am with you (Matthew 28:18 20). Jesus wanted us as
humans to act in his own memory, or to keep himself on in that capacity, which was that of teacher,
consoler, and in the end deliverer of salvation. In the past Pozzo had benefitted from Lucky, now he
thinks the benefits are gone. Something,

History of the U.S. Health Care Delivery System
Introduction:
In order to understand current health delivery services changes and formulate predictions, one
must thoroughly comprehend the three developmental eras of the health care system. The
evolution of our current health care system began in 1850, and has metamorphosed in three time
periods, 1850 to 1900, 1900 to World War II (WW II), and WW II to 2009. Significant distinct and
overlapping trends in disease prevalence, availability of health care resources, social organizations,
and the public s knowledge and perception of health and illness and technology.

Nursing care was unscientific and consisted of assisting patients with usual body functions; and
was typically administered by women of a religious order or by women who by nature of their
lifestyle frequented hospitals. Hospital care was for the poor and destitute; since home based
medical care was better than risking additional infections in the dirty, crowded, and disease ridden
hospitals. During the typhus epidemic of 1852, hospital staff and patients suffered the greatest
morbidity and mortality. (Ranade , 199817 19)
1900 World War II: Birthing of Scientific Medicine
New discoveries spawn more medical research in medical colleges. In 1910, Abraham Flexner of
the Carnegie Foundation publishes his study on medical education, and induces major medical
education reform. Medical knowledge flourishes and specialists account for 20% of physicians in
1940. Hospitals begin to embellish new medical technology as physicians relied on the hospital as
a source of access to new technology and as a facility in which to care for their sickest patients.

How Does the Scarlet Letter Comment on Religion in...
Religion is the name given to a relationship with God, and different groups of people have
different Gods and belief systems (Terhart Schulze, 2008). Today there are 313 religions and
denominations in the United States; from monotheists who believe in one God, to polytheists who
believe in many Gods, to others who believe in no God, or a God as represented by animal spirits,
alien groups, or psychoactive substances (ProCon.org, 2008). Christianity was the first religionthat
was brought to the world by European settlers and it became dominant religion of the United States

Therefore this essay will describe how the characters, setting and themes in the Scarlet letter
comment on the religion in America by exploring the scene of puritan morality, scaffold and
through the interpretation of the Scarlet Letter A .
According Puritan moral values, one is guilty of adultery if married man or woman had a sexual
relationship with a person who is not their wife or husband. The situation becomes worse when
women bear an illegitimate child and such behavior is considered as one of the sinful acts in the
Puritan society. The protagonist and the bearer of the scarlet letter A signify that Hester Prynne
is an adulterer. Hester was married to an elderly scholar, Roger Chillingworth who sent her
ahead to America to live but never followed her. While waiting for him, she had an affair with a
Puritan minister named Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, after which gave birth to Pearl. Hester
giving birth to Pearl became an attention of that Puritan society and she was humiliated in the
public where she showed her faults to the world without revealing the names of Pearl s father. Mr.
Wilson said, Speak out the name! That, and thy repentance, may avail to take the scarlet letter off
thy breast. Never! replied Hester Prynne. It is too deeply branded. Ye cannot take it off. And
would that I might endure his agony, as well as mine! (Hawthorne, p 58). Unwillingness to reveal
the name of Pearl s father by Hester shows the strength and

Essay on Apartheid in South Africa
Blacks shared the pain of Apartheid in one of the darkest periods in history. Blacks were horribly
oppressed by tyrants who obliterated their happy, healthy lives for nothing more then their own
interests. Many Laws were passed that restricted blacks from the freedoms that all people should
rightfully obtain from birth. White South Africanstook the black population by the throat, making it
hard for blacks to live as happy people. Black South Africans were held in a form of imprisonment
and could do little to fight back, causing Apartheidto be one of the darkest periods in black history.
Apartheid was introduced as a part of the National Party s campaign in the 1948 elections. With the

In the 1950 s some changes occurred. The migrant labor act was abolished because the
government did not feel the need to segregate the cities as much as they did in the past. So
initially blacks were stuck on rural reserves most of the time and were being treated worse and
worse. This was called the Bantu authorities act, established 1951. On a good note, there were
people on the Black African s side from the beginning. Prime Minister Smuts wrote, quot; The idea
that natives must all be removed and confined in their kraals is in my opinion, the greatest
nonsense I have ever heard. quot; (Smuts 1) Steven Biko wrote, The government of our nation is
full of tyranny (Biko 1) Despite all the fighting back, apartheid was a loosing battle for blacks in
South Africa until the late 1900 s.
Apartheid took off in 1948 when the national party won the election. It was all downhill from
there for the blacks. In 1950 the population registration act was passed. This act classified people
as either white, black, or Bantu. The apartheid fooled other countries into believing it was a
lifting in a state of emergency. In 1951 many whites did not like the black people so a
commission was formed to set and regulate segregation laws. In 1952, Nelson Mandela and
Tambo opened the first black legal firm. This was a small step for the blacks at the time. In 1953
the public safety act and criminal law amendment were passed which allowed the government to

Real Estate Aerial Shot Look From the Above
The best view comes from the sky!
No doubt, sitting in a private jet seeing the blue green oceans, the lofty mountains, the chirping
birds and a lot to see... Sounds great, isn t it?
This will prove that a view from the sky is unsurpassed and no one can have the potential to deny
this fact. The aerial shot is akin to it. Checking out your property from the above will give you a
unique experience, but it holds a massive amount of importance.
How?
The aerial view embraces the ultimate significance when you have to sell your property. Covering
the real estate from various angles, including the interior, right and left, will give a buyer a facile
idea about your land. If you are thinking that the aerial view won t be required to add in the real

There is not an iota of doubt in the fact that an aerial photography or videography can increase
the resale value of the property. It will happen only in the case, when you will hire an expert or

if you rent an amateur or unprofessional person, then it will degrade the value of the property, as
they don t acquaint with the right degree of the clicking or shooting from the sky.
If you ask that whether an aerial photography helps in the competent advertising of your property,
then the answer is a big Yes . Suppose you have to show the video or the photographs to a buyer. In
this case, if the video/photos are professionally clicked, then only the purchaser can have the
transparent idea about that particular estate. And, then he proceeds in the direction to but that real

Separation Of Ionic Molecules Lab Report
In chemistry, an ionic compound is a type of chemical bond where the ions are fixed together via an
ionic bond. An ionic bond is formed when a metal reacts with non metal; in the reaction, electrons
are transferred from the metal atoms to the non metal atoms forming negatively and positively
charged ions. The electrostatic attraction, one of the strongest force in the universe which is caused
by electric charges between the positive and negative ions, holds the ionic compounds tightly
together. Consider the reaction between the metal calcium oxide (гЂ–CaгЂ—^(2+)) and the non
metal water (H_2 O), which react together to yield the ionic compound calcium hydroxide
(Ca(гЂ–OH)гЂ—_2).
In this reaction, calcium oxide donated its electron which was a negatively ... Show more content on

Meaning, compounds with the same type of bonding tend to be soluble with one another. Polar
substances would dissolve in polar solvents such as water, however, would not dissolve in non
polar solvents. Non polar substances dissolve in non polar solvents but do not dissolve in polar
ones. Most ionic compounds are able to be dissolved in water as the water molecules hydrate ions.
For an ionic compound to be dissolved, the water molecules must stabilize the ions, which thus
would result in the separation of the ionic bond to form a solution. Water is a polar molecule, it has
a permanent dipole. The oxygen atom has a partial negative charge whilst the hydrogen atom has
a partial positive charge. When an ionic substance is placed in to the water, the water molecules
would quickly attract the charged ions from the substance. They then become free to move
about. However, this only occurs when the attractive forces between the water molecules and
ions are stronger than the attractive forces within the ionic compound. CaOH is a slightly
insoluble compound, the solubility of CaOH is approximately 0.189 g/100 mL of water at 20п‚°. A
more soluble ionic compounds solubility such as NaCl is only 35.7 g/100 mL of water at 20В°C.
CaOH is only slightly insoluble as calcium and oxygen are +2 and 2 ions in

The Characteristics Of A Hero In The Odyssey, By Homer
here are many characteristics that fall under a hero. Throughout The Odyssey, by Homer, Odysseus
proves that he has some of these characteristics, by experiencing many challenges and difficulties
on his journey back home. While going through these hard times, Odysseus gains values of a hero.
Throughout The Odyssey, Odysseusdisplays many Greek values, which characterize him as a hero.
Odysseus goes through experiences where justice prevails over hardship. For example,
Odysseus loses many of his men during the trip, but he still survives. At one island, some of his
men are killed and before he would get killed too, Odysseus starts sailing away with his
remaining men. After finding out his men have been killed, Odysseus says, From that place we
sailed on, glad enough to have come off with our lives, but sad to lose our companions (114
115). Even though Odysseus loses some of his companions, he is able to continue along with his
journey. Shortly after, Odysseus came to the underworld and got to talk to the dead and hear
their stories. While speaking to the dead, his mom appears and Odysseus realizes she is dead.
She wants to talk to him because Odysseus did not see or hear from her since the start of his
journey. Odysseus asks his mom how everyone is doing at home. Odysseus says, But do tell me,
really and truly, what was the cause of youth death? how did you die? Was it a long disease? or
did Artemis Archeress kill you with her gentle shafts? And tell me about my father and the son I
left behind me: do they still hold my honours and my possessions, or have they passed to some
other man because people think I will never return? And tell me of my wedded wife, what she
thinks and what she means to do. Does she remain with the boy and keep all safe, or has she
already married the best man who offered? My beloved mother answered (127). Although
Odysseus is very sad his mom isn t alive anymore, he is very happy to hear how his family is
doing at home. Getting the updates on his family, helps Odysseus deal the grieving he has because
of his mother s death.Odysseus is able to overcome hardships, which help him develop into more of

Venture Capitalists are a company or wealthy individual who is prepared to invest in a young or
new business . Obtaining Venture Capitalist finance can be highly beneficial to a small business
as it may be able to acquire a large amount of capital, of which would not have been possible
through other methods of finance, such as a bank loan . Venture Capitalist investment is further
financially viable as a business is not obligated to repay the investment it receives. This method
of finance is based upon the investor s decision to take a risk on a business in anticipation of its
success. In addition to its financial beneficence, acquiring this form of capital can provide a small
or new business with valuable business expertise, as investors are able to provide key advice and
guidance as well as industry connections. Making better decisions can be vitally important for a
business growth .
In despite of its advantageous aspects, Venture Capitalist finance upholds the disadvantage of loss
of control for a business owner. Typically, venture capitalists will require 25% 49% of the equity
and a seat on the board so that their investment can be monitored and advice given . This results in
a partial loss of autonomy for the business as the Venture Capitalist is involved in decision making
processes, this would not be the case if an alternative source of finance was obtained. In addition,
securing Venture Capitalist investment is often a difficult and time consuming

Secret Sorrow Analysis
Do you have a favourite genre for stories? Stories come in all sorts of genres and themes. They
attract different types of audiences because they make connections with some readers. For
example, A Secret Sorrow is more Fantasy, and A Sorrowful Woman is more realistic. Audiences
like me enjoy fantasy stories since we have an interest in the loveconnection to the characters. I
prefer A Secret Sorrow because of fantasy, relatability, and love.
In a secret sorrow, Kai and Faye show an example of a fantasy story. His eyes held her locked in
unrelenting demand Why should I be disappointed? (Page 33, Paragraph 52) Kai presents like a
prince that cares for Faye because these actions are not seen often in the real world. Most males
do not act like him. They are rougher and not understanding. They do not know how to respond
like Kai. Kai responds in a way that makes Faye feel special and wanted. Kai in a way tells Faye
that she is wonderful and he will only love her. This novel is written for the female audience, which
is why Kai is able to speak the way he speaks. Without even knocking he came into her room and
walked over to the bed. She could feel the mattress sag as his weight came down on it. Her heart
was pounding like a sledgehammer, and then his arms came around her and he drew her against
him. Faye, he said quietly, please marry me. (Page 34, Paragraph 73 74). This part of the story can

  • 2. Essay about Whale Hunting By the Makah Tribe Whale hunting has been a way of life for the Makah Tribe for more than 2000 years. They have traditionally depended on the whale meat to survive as well as they have utilized the whales blubber and oil. The dependence on whale hunting has caused the whale to be an integral part of the Makah culture. The whale is in their songs, dances, designs and basketry. It has given them a disciple and pride in their tribe. Yet for the past seventy years the Makahhas been prevented from hunting due to the gray whale, the whale they hunt, being on the endangered list. In 1994 the gray whale was removed form the endangered list opening the possibility of the Makah Tribe to hunt again. Yet this possibility has caused anti whalingorganizations... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This treaty s importance to the Makahs is due, to what they feel as, their need for their culture to be able to hunt. They believe that without hunting integrated into their culture their people have grown restless and lack discipline and pride. The also attribute many of their health problems to the lack of sea mammal meat in their diet. They believe that the restoration of whaling will help restore that discipline and pride as well as help physically. The Makah realize that people are concerned that if they resume whale hunting that the gray whale will suffer the possibility of extension again. Yet the treaty carries stipulations on what and how many whales they can kill. The Makah can only kill up to five adult gray males in migration per year. The are not allowed to hunt a calf or a mother with a calf. With the species having its largest population ever at 22,263 and increasing 2.5 percent every year, the Makah s hunt will not threaten the gray whale with endangerment. Anti whaling organizations argue that if the Makah are allowed to hunt that they should not be able to hunt the migrating males, only those in permanent residence. Yet Makah Tribal Chairman Greig Arnold replied Whaling is dangerous enough just to go, and then to add all these stipulations just makes it more dangerous. These stipulations would force the Makah to hunt in the ocean in December or early spring when the seas are high and the weather is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Road Salt Persuasive Speech During the winter months in Toronto, we often see road salt used so much that once there was even a shortage! Most people from Toronto have to know that we use salt on our road, and some even use it on their driveways, but few know what the road salt actually does and how it affects us in the long run.The issue I m going to be discussing today is whether we should or shouldn t put salt on our roads. There is no other solution than to not do this, so I m writing to you today to tell you why I think this. Initially, The salt that we put onto the road ends up affecting water quality. As you may already know the salt we put on our roads is made up of sodium chloride. We put it on our roads and eventually, it melts.Where do the melted snow and sodium chloride go? It washes away into bodies of water or into groundwater supplies. According to Nina Rastogi, a blogger for The Green Lantern, she says that Researchers in Minnesota recently found that, in the urban Twin Cities area, 70 percent of the salt applied to roads stays within the region s watershed. The addition of salt and water just makes the rusting process occur faster than normal conditions allow. Lines 1 2, translate as people who have never experienced success understand what victory verily connote. However, the line can also imply as someone who has not experienced victory hold success higher because they desired it much longer. In addition, Dickinson explains, in order to grasp something so alluring, one must have the deepest desire for it; To comprehend a nectar / Requires sorest need. • 5. Examples Of Reverse Discrimination The Elimination of Affirmative Action Throughout American history, there have been many examples of discrimination against minorities and women. Most of which that range from admissions to hiring policies. With the establishment of affirmative action, most do not perceive the reality of how it continues to demonstrate the idea of discrimination. Rather than being discriminated against the minorities, affirmative action is a perception of reverse discrimination against the majority dominant group; therefor affirmative action should be abolished from the United States. When there are those minority individuals who become aware of affirmative action, a stigmatization is potentially created. According to Eric Dontigney, most often these individuals ... The standards for education and employees are greatly lowered and influenced by affirmative action. People should be able to act underneath the same standards as everyone else. Affirmative action does actually give special treatment and protection the minorities that live in the United States. This typically makes most individuals feel like they are not able to succeed on their own and need special assistance to achieve their successes in life. In other words, affirmative action devalues the accomplishments achieved by minorities. These devaluations later end up hurting those minority ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Over the past fifteen years, main season attendance at opera performances fluctuated between 3 and 4 million, compared to eight to eleven million for Broadway shows and 25 to 30 million for symphony orchestras. Some opera managers speculated that audience exhaustion with repetitive repertoire had contributed to a decline in attendance. Others attributed the lack of interest to poor awareness of individual opera singers. (Gelb) The majority of fund operations came from government grant for many arts organizations, but at the same time a much greater percentage of non ticket revenues, roughly 41%, came from private contributions. It is still important for the business to attract more individual customers. The whole industry needs innovation. Peter Gelb and his The Met Opera played a role as the leader of this innovation. The new way of increasing revenue that was introduced by Peter Gelb brings a new idea for this industry to keep alive in the 21st century with no doubt. Not surprisingly enough, more than a third of all teenagers own a cellphone, ranging from a smart phone or just a plain old school flip phone. The result of the study further pushes the notion of how important it is for school staff to understand the given technology so they can distribute the information effectively to their students. All the technology in the world will be ineffective if the teachers themselves are not passionate of their work. Technology has the potential to transform the learning environment from passive to active and more subject to the control of the learner. (qtd. In Lavin, Korte, Davies). Superstitions In The Minister s Black Veil In The Minister s Black Veil by Nathaniel Hawthorne, the author seeks to convey that although all individuals are sinners, members of society will condemn those who seek to confront their own faults. This conclusion was drawn from the many motifs which relate to Puritan society, particularly the superstitions and Christian ideologies of many New Englanders during the 18th century. In this tale, Mr. Hooper s donning of the black veil is viewed as a change which alters his countenance indefinitely; from the moment it is introduced, those who view it are awestruck. • 10. Methods to Determine Cable Size under Harmonic Condition In many methods, skin and proximity effects are very important. Another important parameter is alternative current (a.c.) resistance, rac. This parameter is frequency dependence. It can be shown that rac increased with the increased of frequency (Du, Burnett, (2000), (Demoulias, Labridis, Dokopoulos Gouramanis, 2007), (Desmet, Vanalme, Belmans, Van Dommelen, 2008). Some research papers used value from published graph such as by The Okonite Company and Anixter Inc. (The Okonite Company, 2001), (Anixter Inc., n.d.). However upon inspection, it was found that the graph is produced on the basis of fundamental frequency of 60 Hz and using imperial unit. Some other sources, although on 50 Hz as fundamental basis, give limited data such as (Moore, 1997), (Coates, n.d). As an alternative, formula from IEC 287 1 1 was used to calculate the rac (IEC, 1994). Skin and proximity effects are part of formula to calculate cable ampacity known as Neher McGrath (NM) method in 1957 (Blackledge, O Connell, Barrett Sung, 2012, 2012). However this method, according to the authors, could not handle a range of harmonic frequencies. In 1991, Ajit Hiranandani (AH) introduced a way to calculate temperature and ampacity of a cable using generalised finite difference model (Hiranandani, 1991). Hiranandani (1995) produced a paper which tackles the problem of size selection for cable under harmonic condition. In this paper, he introduced term such as harmonic signature (HS), with reference to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He knew before anyone else that the beast was not some physical creature to be scared of. He knew the beast was not something they could just kill. This is shown in the quote, However Simon thought of the beast, there rose before his inward sight the picture of a human at once heroic and sick (Golding, page 103). Simon was a shy boy, therefore he held back this knowledge of the beast from the boys knowing they would find it silly and push it aside. Therefore, Piggy had a greater fear of the boys abandoning the fire, than he did of the beast. The boys are being naive, going after pigs and the beast instead of tending the fire, and Piggy realizes that. • 14. Stainless Steel Lab Report Discussion Analysis The observations during this experiment mean several things. The bubbles around the materials in the beginning of each trial show that there is a reaction starting to happen. The bubbles around the stainless steel can mean that, while there was no measurable change in the mass, it is possible some of the stainless steelwas corroded. This prediction was confirmed in the second trial when the stainless steel did have a measurable change in mass. The change in color in the water of the steel shows that a solid precipitate was created. There was also evidence of a precipitate in the flakes around the steel. Another piece of evidence showing that precipitate formed was the cloudiness of the liquid around the iron. The reason that the vinegar smell dissipated from the iron and mild steel is because all of the acetic acid in the vinegar was used up creating what would have been just water if a precipitate had not formed. The modeof each trial varies for each metal, and each one shows something different. The modes for Iron in trial one are 0.3% and 0.4%. For further experimentation one could investigate the discrepancy in the mild steel between trials 1 and 2. One could also investigate the effect of oxidation on how well the metals would work. Is it because of low self esteem, envy, fear of rejection/feeling threatened or part of our culture or religion. Whatever the reasons Young Goodman Brown and A Good Man Is Hard to Find illustrates the dangers of being judgmental. Brown see his self as a good person prior to entering the forest, and the grandmother from A Good Man Is Hard to Find see herself as an upstanding southern woman until the end shows her different. Let s explore Young Goodman Brownto see if there is a lesson to be learned about the dangers of being judgmental. Brown is a young man living in the seventeen centuries and in Salem a town known as the capital of witchcraft. Hawthorne references three dark events from the Puritans history: the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, the Puritan intolerance of the Quakers, and King Philip s War. During the Salem Witch Trials, one of the most nightmarish episodes in Puritan history, the villagers of Salem killed twenty five innocent people who were accused of being witches. The witch hunts often involved accusation based on revenge, jealousy, botched child delivery and other reason that had little to do with perceived witchcraft. Aspects Of Romanticism As Described By Wolfson And Manning Aspects of Romanticism as Described by Wolfson and Manning The period in time between 1785 and 1835 in Europe has come to be known in literature as the Romantic Period. The Romantic Period was shaped by the eruption of a new social order and the rights of man rather than the control from the wealthy and privileged. There were arguments for and against the rights of women, debates over the abolition of Britain s slave trade and of slavery in it colonies, movements for social and political remedies for the poor; and a newly emergent class consciousness among discontented workers in Britain s fields, mines, factories, and mills (Wolfson 8). During this time, many poems, sonnets and novels emerged as a way for writers to express their feelings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wolfson and Manning described the significance of imagination in The Romantics and their Contemporaries , In this vibrant culture of new imaginative possibilities, Imagination itself became a subject of reflection, and often debate (Wolfson 8). The poem Kubla Khan , shows the importance of imagination in romantic literature. The enchanted dreams and inspired visions that Wolfson and Manning describe are shown many times throughout Kubla Khan, when the author is describing his dream And mid these dancing rocks at once and ever, It flung up momentarily the sacred river (Coleridge 670). Nature was also a significant and reoccurring theme during the Romantic Period. Writers tended to focus on the educational aspects that nature could provide to the reader. Wordsworth describes his opinion on the importance of nature and its educational value it holds in his poem The Tables Turned . As a result, Charlemagne became even more likable, with the people enjoying a chance to have a better education as well as a better view point of a life less barbaric. Next, Charlemagne tried to be more than a ruler and more a part of the community. One of the reasons why Charlemagne is so famous is because he tried to educate himself. He was described by Einhard as a great teacher, as he was capable in multiple languages, along with being taught by some great teachers. Rather that being a great ruler by educating his people, he became an even greater ruler by educating himself. By doing this, his people had even more faith in the fact that he was going to rule properly, that every decision that he made was well thought out. Born into a period where education was scarce if existent, this was an astonishing act. Lastly, Charlemagne was respected by his people because of his work with public structures. • 22. Contac Contact Wounds A contact wound is one in which the muzzle of the weapon is held against the body at the time of discharge. In contact wounds, gas, soot, and vaporized metal from the bullet and cartridge case, primer residue, and powder particles are all driven into the wound track along with the bullet. (DiMaio 1998) In hard contact wounds, the muzzle of the weapon is held very tightly against the skin or clothing of the victim, indenting it so that the skin/clothing covers the muzzle at the time of discharge, essentially forming a seal. This seal prevents the escape of the gases due to combustion, forcing them and other materials emerging from the muzzle into the wound, often leaving very little external evidence. However, upon further inspection, you will note searing and soot (black powder) around the immediate edge of the wound. (Crankshaft, n.d.) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These types of wounds are most common in the head and are caused by the effects of the gas upon discharge. When the gun is fired, the gases caused by the combustion of the propellant escape the barrel in a highly compressed state and enter the skin into the subcutaneous tissue where the gases expand. In a contact wound to the head, these gases will expand between the skin and outer layer of the skull, lifting the skin up, much like an expanding balloon. If the skin is not elastic enough for the expansion, it will tear, producing the stellate or cross like appearance. Another type of wound to the head may occur, other than a stellate or skin tear as the skin may balloon out against the gun muzzle with sufficient force to imprint the muzzle onto the skin, sometimes in great detail. These types of imprints can also occur in the chest and abdomen. (DiMaio ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They must accept the concept of nationalism because, in order to transcend it, they must posses and understand it. Richard Wright In 1996, famed rapper and entertainer Tupac Shakur[1] was gunned down in Las Vegas. Journalistic sentiment at the time suggested he deserved the brutal death. The New York Times headline, Rap Performer Who Personified Violence, Dies, suggested Shakur, who was twenty five when he died, deserved his untimely death. • 25. Negative Effects Of Aging Effects of Aging In this Article titled Effects of Aging and Adult Development Education and Service Learning on Attitude, Anxiety, and Occupational Interest by Stefanie S. Boswell1 over looks the effect of aging and adult development component on attitudes toward older adult men and women, which then includes topics such as; aging anxiety, and interest in occupations that serve older adults among individuals training for careers in healthcare and social services (Boswell). According to Medicine.Net, the definition of Aging is The process of becoming older, a process that is genetically determined and environmentally modulated. Within the paragraphs, there are three dividing sections that will touch upon on the study of adult development, the science behind the brain, and the physical changes within the aging group. Several researchers have investigated the ability of aging and adult development/gerontology education to quell ageist attitudes and aging anxiety (Boswell) To better explain this will be to state that anyone who s reaching a older age has a harder time understanding they aren t the same person of 10 years ago and that alone causes emotional thoughts of where has life gone and where is it going from here. Starting off with the Study of Adult Development, I researched from the government census, Between 2012 and 2050, the United States will experience considerable growth in its older population 2050, and the population aged 65 and over is projected to be 83.7 million, almost double its estimated population of 43.1 million in 2012. The baby boomers are largely responsible for this increase in the older population as they began turning 65 in 2011. By 2050, the surviving baby boomers will be over the age of 85. Can you imagine 83.7 million of elderly citizens in United States alone? That s quite a dramatic number. Since the older population is a big factor in the aging process, how will we communicate or grasp their attention? Understanding the meaning of aging has four parts, Perceived age, Biological age, Psychological age, and sociocultural age. Perceived age refers to the age you think of yourself as . Abstract The research undertaken for this assignment intended to highlight issues related to inclusion in mainstream education for students with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). The research found that John Cleveland College, a mainstream secondary school in Leicestershire, would not be able to meet the needs of these young people and will consider the need for staff training to improve skills and knowledge in order for this inclusive practice to become possible. The assignment discusses the implications of studies which suggests that mainstream schools may be able to support the progress of learners with PMLD in ways that special schools may not. The essay reaches its conclusion by asking for a shift away from the assumption that special educational needs schools are always the best environment for children with PMLD. • 27. Foundationalism In William Shakespear s Much Ado About... The word Foundationalism was given a clear definition by Descartes, meaning someone looking for a clear and certain foundation. There is a way to accomplish this task, meaning order to find or build a foundation or a base that is certain, one must first destroy everything one believes to know start from the very beginning. The goal is to find things that are absolute indubitable , meaning it is 100 percent certain or it can not under any circumstances be doubted (Descartes 13). The play Much ado about nothingwritten by William Shakespear would not be the first thing that comes to mind when considering anything being indubitable. It is entails clear social and gender issues of its time. With this essay, I wish to point out how the men boast themselves in so much honor and masculinity, that they are easily blinded by a simple lie. So simple in fact, that it took an entire plot built on Hero s death to reveal the truth. If a woman s mind, body and soul were more valuable, there would have been no need to lie and deceive once more to prove Hero s innocence. This is important, because women are still judged more harshly for being involved with a man before marriage, or having multiple partners. While men can marry after being known to be very far from celibacy themselves, but wish to have a virgin or a woman with fewer and closer to zero sexual partners. This misogynistic double standard was carried into the movie by Kenneth Branagh. In this case, first I would like to look ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. The Second Sex Simone De Beauvoir Analysis Revolutionary and thought provoking, Simone De Beauvoir s The Second Sex is a novel that challenged the subordination of women brought upon by men and illustrated a feminist and philosophical perspective on rights of women. Working alongside with Jean Paul Sartre, De Beauvoir s work in The Second Sex underlies Sartre s concept of bad faith in relation to De Beauvoir s concept of the battle of the sexes. Being confined by her own immanence in a male dominated society, De Beauvoir illustrates that the feminine subject declares herself as their equal in relation to the transcendence of the male for the struggle for recognition because it is affecting her free will and responsibility (De Beauvoir 428). By recognizing the female, the male attempts to find himself as a stable identity to transcend as the male figure through the devaluation of femininity and the oppression of women. Lastly, De Beauvoir believes that the construct of femininity is itself a product, as Sartre puts it, of bad faith because one is not born, but rather becomes, a woman. Conceived by Jean Paul Sartre, the concept of bad faith underlies Simone De Beauvoirs concept of the so called battle of the sexes. In order to explain how the concept of bad faith relates to the concept of the battle of the sexes, one has to understand Sartrean philosophy. According to Sartre, bad faith is an act of deceiving oneself by rejecting the notion of freedom and one s facticity, even though human beings are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Love Of Love In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet Shakespeare s tale Romeo and Juliet is all about the love displayed by characters, including the platonic love that is demonstrated by best friends Romeo and Mercutio. Both Baz Luhrmann and Franco Zeffirelli are able to portray this perfectly in their own different ways during the major fight scene between Tybalt and Mercutio. Baz Luhrmann is able to portray lovein this fight scene with dramatic and intense music, along with fast paced camera work and close up shots. The close ups, for example, are very important in displaying the love between Mercutio and Romeo. Whilst Mercutio intervenes between the fight of Romeo and Tybalt, Luhrmann uses close ups to demonstrate how much Romeo and Mercutio mean to each other. From the close up of the two, the audience can clearly see the distress that is shown on Romeo s face when he sees that Mercutio is dead. For the love of family that is displayed throughout this scene especially by Tybalt, Luhrmann uses fast paced intense music to show how heated it is for Tybalt, and how much he dislikes the Montague household, due to the love for his own household, the Capulets. On the other hand, Franco Zeffirelli isn t able to use these cinematic techniques due to them not appealing to the target audience. • 32. Narrative Essay About My Adventure This past summer, I invited Kate to stay at my cottage. Every night after a late dinner we went out to the point of the island and watched the boats go by while shouting at them. One night my mom called to us, Guys, it s getting dark outside come back in . So we started running back and climbing up the rocks when something ran right past our feet. What was that? Kate asked me. I really had no idea what it was so I told her exactly that. The unknown creature turned out to be a vole, which we later named Vole demort. The next day we looked for Vole demort, but we couldn t find him. That was when we realised that he was nocturnal and probably only came out at night. So we devised a plan. We would bring our shoes into my room, wait until everyone is asleep, then use the exit in my room to escape to our adventure. We thought our plan was foolproof, but I forgot one small detail, my parents go to sleep really late, and as for my brother, well he stays up all night watching youtube. The worst part about this was that my room was right next to my brothers, so we shared a deck: meaning Kate and I had to pass by his room to get to where we wanted. Eventually, I realised that my brother s curtains were probably closed and even if they weren t, he was way too into his screen to notice us passing by. So at about 3:30 in the morning, after Kate and I had both voiced our thoughts saying things along the lines of, When should we go? Or Should we just go now? We decided to go. We geared up; we put on our shoes, we pulled our sweaters over our heads, and got the most important things, our phones. As we exited the cottage into the cool night we turned on the flashlights on our phones. First, we stayed just a little bit outside my room, laid down and looked up at the stars, and Kate whispered, Wow, this is actually so cool Yeah. It is I responded in an equally low tone. We whispered back and forth for a bit, then I said, Let s go to the other side so we can see more of the sky without the cottage blocking it But isn t your parents room on that side Yeah, it is, but we ll still have the living room between us. The first thing I had to do was open up the napkin and then get 2 slices of bread. I think this was fairly easy since I didn t have to do anything major. The next step was to apply the peanut butter on one slice of bread and grape jelly on the other slice of bread. I found this the most difficult part for many reasons. The turnover on merchandise is hard to see with the type of merchandise on display, there are no outs on in the display cases. There are also no obvious set locations for the merchandise in the case. If the last gun of a specific model is sold a different one can be put in its place. One item in this department I can discuss is the .22 ammo, I know that they only receive a shipment of 200 boxes a day and according to the sales associate they sold out at 11:30 AM. The price per box is $25, so the sales for that SKU alone are $5,000. There are a few other types of ammo that are limited stock and sell out before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Collecting Qualitative Data Paper PART 1 Collecting Qualitative Data Research truly is essential to the success of any marketing campaign or process and can greatly contribute to the success of a product, service or brand in the marketplace. Market research can help to determine risks and opportunities within the market, and can provide a greater depth of understanding of consumers and the target audience. Market research helps to define and solve research problems and this is extremely beneficial to any business or organisation (Burns Bush, 2003). By having consumer insight because of market research, marketers are able to promote a product to the true relevant target market, rather than wasting time and money promoting to the whole marketplace. There are two main methods of market research, being qualitative research and quantitative research. Both of these methods have benefits and can be used in conjunction, but for the best results one method of data collection is often used. Quantitative data focuses on a numerical approach to data collection via the use of statistics and information taken from surveys and census data. Qualitative data however focuses on gathering information and exploratory research through observations and interviews. The main approaches to collecting this type of data are experience or expert surveys, focus groups, and in depth interviews (Diekroger, 2014). Accordingly, the theory of moral development consists of three levels of moral reasoning: pre conventional, conventional, and post conventional. Samuel Beckett may have renounced the use of Christian motifs in Waiting for Godot, but looking at the character of Lucky proves otherwise. We can see Lucky as a representative figure of Christ as his actions in the play carry a sort of criticism of Christianity. His role suggests that the advantages of Christianity have declined to the point where they no longer help humanity at all. If you analyze the poem Waiting for Godotyou can see the huge parallels between the character of Luckyand Jesus. This question refers specifically to the taunting spectators gave to Jesus, telling him to save himself and if he is the son of God to get himself off the cross, this also refers generally to Christ s mission of suffering on earth to forgive us of our sins. Pozzo tells them that Lucky doesn t want to let go of the luggage because He wants to mollify me, so that I will give up the idea of parting with him . He also says that Lucky imagines that when I see how well he carries I ll be tempted to keep him on in that capacity . Jesus directed his apostles to make disciples of all nations and to teach them to carry out everything I have commanded you. And always know that I am with you (Matthew 28:18 20). • 53. Separation Of Ionic Molecules Lab Report In chemistry, an ionic compound is a type of chemical bond where the ions are fixed together via an ionic bond. An ionic bond is formed when a metal reacts with non metal; in the reaction, electrons are transferred from the metal atoms to the non metal atoms forming negatively and positively charged ions. The electrostatic attraction, one of the strongest force in the universe which is caused by electric charges between the positive and negative ions, holds the ionic compounds tightly together. Consider the reaction between the metal calcium oxide (гЂ–CaгЂ—^(2+)) and the non metal water (H_2 O), which react together to yield the ionic compound calcium hydroxide (Ca(гЂ–OH)гЂ—_2). Polar substances would dissolve in polar solvents such as water, however, would not dissolve in non polar solvents. Non polar substances dissolve in non polar solvents but do not dissolve in polar ones. Most ionic compounds are able to be dissolved in water as the water molecules hydrate ions. For an ionic compound to be dissolved, the water molecules must stabilize the ions, which thus would result in the separation of the ionic bond to form a solution. Water is a polar molecule, it has a permanent dipole. The oxygen atom has a partial negative charge whilst the hydrogen atom has a partial positive charge. When an ionic substance is placed in to the water, the water molecules would quickly attract the charged ions from the substance. They then become free to move about. However, this only occurs when the attractive forces between the water molecules and ions are stronger than the attractive forces within the ionic compound.
