Essay On Malware
There has been extensive work on detecting malicious mobile app. Literature cite{felt2011survey}
gave a survey of mobile malware in the wild and analyzed the incentives behind 46 pieces of iOS,
Android, and Symbian malware. Literature cite{amamra2012smartphone} classified malicious mobile
app detection method based on 3 rules: reference behaviour, analysis approach and malware behaviour
representation and divided smartphone malware detection techniques into two main classes: signature
based and anomaly based. Literature cite{idika2007survey} examined 45 malware detection
techniques which are instructive for malicious mobile app detection. In this section, we mainly focus
on behavior based malware detection methods and only review the most related ones. As mentioned
before, current behavior based mobile malware detection approaches can mostly be categorized into
two main groups: emph{client side} and emph{server side} detection. The client side detection
approaches run locally and apply anomaly methods on the set of features which indicate the state of
the app. The pBMDS cite{xie2010pbmds} is based on correlating user inputs with system calls to
detect anomalous activities. A Hidden Markov Model (HMM) is used to learn application and user
behaviors from two major aspects: process state transitions and user operational patterns. Built upon
these two aspects, the pBMDS identifies behavioral differences between user initiated applications
and malware compromised ones. Zhang et

Essay On Relationship Between Lord Of The Flies And The...
The politician Muhammad Ali Jinnah once said, Think 100 times before you take a decision, but once
that decision is taken, stand by it as one man. In the novels Lord of the Flies, written by William
Golding, and The Odyssey, written by Homer, this message is conveyed throughout. Furthermore, in
Lord of the Flies the main character Ralph finds himself on an unfamiliar island and later finds other
people. The story is characterized by the conflict between human natures; for example, savagery
amongst the children and the hope for rescue. During the course of the book, Ralph is plagued with
difficult decisions. Likewise, The Odyssey is about the journeys of a man named Odysseus who has to
make numerous tough decisions on his voyage back home. In correlation to the eloquent dialogue of
Muhammad Ali Jinnah, when making decisions, one must be thoughtful before undergoing the task.
First, when making decisions, one must always acknowledge his opponents. One should especially
consider the enemy s strengths and weaknesses. For example, after contemplating the skills of the
Cyclops in the cave, Odysseus drew on all [his] wits, and ran through tactics... until a trick came and it
pleased [him] well (Fitzgerald 381). Odysseus realizes that the Cyclops would defeat him in any
physical confrontation due to his well developed brute strength; as a result, he plans to trick him
because he knows that he is intellectually superior to the Cyclops. Through his review of the Cyclops

The Importance Of Volunteering In My Community
Community hours; people hear of it and they complain and groan. When people think of volunteering
their time, they would much rather turn a blind eye and walk away. What most people don t know is
that by involving yourself with one s community it can cause a great impact, this impact is necessary
for our communities to grow and become better; however I became one of those individuals who lost
interest in contributing to my community once I began to attend college, I thought to myself that I
didn t have the time or the time that was available I would much rather put it to use doing something
of my liking. Thankfully this semester gave me the opportunity to return to the volunteering in my
community and it made me have a realization. It being an academic necessity to work in my
community I decided to volunteer at a local animal shelter. Taking this opportunity for my classes and
work with animals, it became beneficial for me at the end. Which I have no regret at all. The Humane
Society of Greater Miami was first choice I thought of when volunteering. My friends recommended
me this location after doing their hours in high school. At first I was hesitant of volunteering at this,
because I had no background experience with dogs. Veterinary is my major that I been aiming for ever
since middle school. Living in apartment my only experience was my pet birds and livestock which I
work at a farm. Dogs and birds are completely two different animals as one obviously can fly and the

Quakers Beliefs
The Protestant Reformation often gets the lion s share of attention when discussing religious reform
and renewal during the Early Modern period. However, to state that the Reformation was the only
significant shift in the ideology and practice of Christianity would be to greatly undersell the
importance of a myriad of religious reformers that denounced the decrepit and outdated relationship
between mainstream religious practice and God. For this new wave of religious reformers, the
traditions of the mainstream Church (whether Protestant or Catholic) were getting in the way of godly
men and women forging a personal relationship with their savior, one in which the individual is

Breaking from Protestant tradition, in which church services tended to be muted and formal,
Methodist services often included crying, moaning, and shouting 8. For Methodists, this expression of
true rapturous love for God was an outgrowth of the great personal love each person had for his or her
creator; for Methodists, loudly and passionately expressing your religious feelings was to embrace
God with all of one s being. This was a common thread among many reformers during the time
period: the idea that the church services being practiced by the mainstream Protestant church were too
far removed from the passionate love of God that many believers felt from within their hearts.
Methodism and its focus on personal relationships and contact with God would prove very popular
among disaffected Protestants, and would eventually become among the most well known and

Cultural Awareness Assessment
I have scored well on both assessments which consider me to be a particularly cultural sensitive

The Room Number Of High School
The room number was 17B located in the silent, empty hallway. Mark Dunn slowly trudged through
the hallway alone to the room. The only thing with him was his old, hand me down backpack. He
opened the door to the sight of rows of kids, all scribbling down numbers on paper. It was the day for
the last quiz for his Advanced Geometry course. Mark s freshman year of high school was slowly
creeping to a close and teachers were desperately trying to squeeze in quizzes, tests, and assignments.
Mark had come two minutes late to the class due to a dentist appointment he had. He looked over to
his friend Isaac Manning, who was drawing what appeared to be a demon. No answers were written

next year. Mark went up to his room. He easily breezed passed his math and Spanish homework. He
went to his drawer and took out a giant 300 page geometry test practice book his dad got after Mark
got a 75% on the last test. It was unusual for Mark to get such a low grade so his parents bought the
monstrous test book to prevent it from ever happening again. The days went by fast and everything
normal was happening. Teachers were pouring out quizzes and homework assignments, Isaac got a
couple more after school detentions, and Mark s parents were constantly stressing out over his

Impact Of Small Scale Business In Small Business
In the Academy Marketing Studies Journal, it states, Since 2008 the number of small businesses using
social media has doubles as their leader seek to create visibility and awareness, to identify and attract
new customers, and to reinforce or change their companies respective perceived brand images. Since
marketing trends follow social media so closely, financial crisis can occur if businesses are unable to
adapt to their target audience s needs. If the business wishes to thrive and continue to evolve with
modern trends, then an awareness of ever changing strategies is critical to success. Small business
owners start off with a concept and a goal of meeting a need in their community to the best of their
ability, however, recently large corporations have become more prevalent in meeting those same needs
at a larger scale. Therefore, small businesses have encountered a higher number of crisis because they
could not compete with the larger corporations. The Journal of Entrepreneurship Development states,

The Voting Rights Act of 1965 Essays
Most change can be caused by people or something with significant value. Occasionally people forget
that change can also be caused by pieces of paper. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was a law passed
that primarily gave African Americans the right to vote without having to take any sort of literacy
tests. African Americans were widely ignored in voting rights because they were forced to take
literacy tests to be eligible to vote. Having this event in our nation s civil rights movement was a
landmark that allowed the other half of our nation s voice to be heard. The Voting Rights Act itself has
been called the single most effective piece of civil rights legislation ever passed by Congress. (Laney

The extension of the franchise to black citizens was strongly resisted. Among others, the Ku Klux
Klan, the Knights of the White Camellia, and other terrorist organizations attempted to prevent the
15th Amendment from being enforced by violence and intimidation.
Once whites regained control of the state by a process known as Redemption, they used
gerrymandering of election districts to further reduce black voting strength and minimize the number
of black elected officials. In the 1890s, these states began to amend their constitutions and to ratify a
series of laws intended to re establish and establish white political supremacy. Such disfranchising
laws included poll taxes, literacy tests, vouchers of good character, and disqualification for crimes of
moral turpitude. These laws were color blind on their face, but were designed to exclude black citizens
disproportionately by allowing white election officials to apply the procedures Karim 3 selectively.
(Laney 11) Other laws and practices, such as the white primary, attempted to evade the 15th
Amendment by allowing private political parties to conduct elections and establish qualifications for
their members. As a result of these efforts, in the former Confederate states nearly all black citizens
were disenfranchised and removed by 1910. The process of restoring the rights stolen by these tactics
would take many decades.
There were several tactics used to steal voting rights away from

Copyright Research Paper
Across human history, societies adopted different political and societal systems. The same applies in
term of trade, in which the system evolved from basic barter, common sharing, up to the invention of
gold coins, trade and commerce system. Today s world is dominated by western cultures. The different
political, economic, and societal systems in the world are strongly influenced by the western
civilization values.
Laws for copyright, piracy, intellectual property somehow find the origins in the socio economical
system of our world.
In the following essay, we will try to explore the different characteristics of the worlds which may
engender the need for copyright. We will next explain what are piracy and intellectual property vis à
vis the notion of copyright.
Several characteristics of today s world and its business made copyright essentials for the course of
everyday activities.
First the materialism has been the main philosophy of most individuals. People are commonly judged
based on their material possession. The emphasis is thus put on what someone s own, its goods,
properties. The material benefit is of first importance, and it is the basis of world business. Thus, when
someone creates, produces or makes something of potential material benefit, he will definitely want to
protect it. It s clear that in such context copyright automatically becomes crucial.
The second point is the economy. Capitalism is the major economic system throughout the world.

Over the many years pigs have developed and evolved into what they are today, 30 differing species of

Why The North Won The Civil War Dbq
The civil war was a battle between the union and the confederacy to preserve the union. The war took
4 years for the north to win, and near the end of the war, the north was also fighting to end slavery.
The north won the war because they had more resources, better strategies, and better transportation.
First off, the north had more resources. This can easily be seen when looking at the North versus
South chart. The chart shows different types of resources, such as workers, factories, railroads,
firearms, and a few other useful things that are needed for a war. The graph then shows a bar graph for
each of those resources, showing in each one, that north has a big advantage over south with that
resource. Firearms, for example, is a resource ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be seen in the Major Battles of the Civil War map. The map shows all of the battles that took
place during the civil war. The map also shows big line all around the confederate states in the water,
named Union blockade of Ports. This line is showing where they had ships positioned so no resources
could get in or out of the south. (Document 2). This document shows that the Union had a plan for this
war that was more strategic than just fighting to the death. This plan was called the anaconda plan, and
it was a plan to squeeze the confederate states out of resources. This line of Union blockade were on
water, and land. During the war, the Union blockade became smaller and smaller, containing all of the
confederacy to a smaller area. This is one way that helped the Union win the war in the end. Another
example of the Union having better strategies than the Confederacy is Sherman s Scorched Earth
Campaign. Plantations were burned, crops destroyed and stores of food pillaged. In the wake of his
progress to the sea he left numerous Sherman sentinels (the chimneys of burnt out houses) and
Sherman neckties (railroad rails that had been heated and wrapped around trees.). Along the way, his
army was joined by thousands of former slaves who brought up the rear of the march because they had
no other place to go. (Document 7). This part of the text explains how Sherman s Scorched Earth

Why Animals Die Is Vital For Understand The Population
Summary
Statistics regarding The time and place of when Animals die is vital to understand the population
pronouncement. During migratory periods like winter, breeding, and also during migratory, the when
and where animals die is important for us to understand population regulations. In migratory animals,
mortality may prevail not only during the stationary periods but can also happen during the
migrational seasons. But, the relative significance of population limiting factors during different
periods of the year remains poorly understood, and previous studies mainly relied on indirect
evidence.
Here, we provide direct evidence about when and where migrants die by identifying cases of
confirmed and probable deaths in three species of long distance migratory raptors tracked by satellite
telemetry.
We show that mortality rate was about six times higher during migration seasons than during
stationary periods. However, total mortality was surprisingly similar between periods, which can be
explained by the fact that risky migration periods are shorter than safer stationary periods.
Nevertheless, more than half of the annual mortality occurred during migration. We also found
spatiotemporal patterns in mortality: spring mortality occurred mainly in Africa in association with the
crossing of the Sahara desert, while most mortality during autumn took place in Europe.
Our results strongly suggest that events during the migration seasons have an important impact on the
population

case. In time periods previous to this, the role of women was quite different than it is in today s world.
What is now equality and power was once seclusion and degradation towards women of society. Over
the course of time the role of women has changed dramatically, and the plays Antigone by Sophocles,
Trifles by Susan Glaspell and The Doll House by Henrik Ibsen are great works that show how women
can challenge the boundaries that were put on them by a society that was not very accepting of
feminism. In Antigone , it does not take long for our main character (Antigone) to step outside of the
boundaries set against women in society. Antigone s brothers died in battle as leaders of separate
sides, and only one was to be honored after death while the other would remain on the battlefield. A
strict ruling was put down by the leader Creon that Antigone s brother Polyneices be left to rot, which
Antigone quickly decides to defy. After asking her sister Ismene for help with the deed of a proper
burial (which was declined), Antigone spoke of Creon by saying Nay, he hath no right to keep me
from mine own (Sophocles, Norton 11th Edition). Antigone breaks the obvious rule of society by
going against Creon s command to not give proper burial to her brother. This was not like many of the
women of this time period because women were not seen as equal in the decision making process,

Tidal Energy and the Methods to Harness It Essay
Tidal Energy and the Methods to Harness it
Introduction:
The world is in a crisis. Traditional energy sources such as oil, coal, and natural gas are dwindling at
an alarming rate. Governments are struggling to purchase those resources in enough volume to feed
their citizens. It is becoming abundantly clear that something needs to be done to meet, and eventually
surpass current energy demands. One of the resources that is essentially unlimited is a resource called
Tidal Energy. Tidal Energy has been estimated that it can create 2110 terrawatt hours in the United
States (7) alone. That is an astonishing amount of energy.
Tidal Energy: Tidal energy is a form of energy that is formed when water rises and falls due to the

Basically this technology is floating spheres at the bottom of the ocean floor that move back and forth
with waves, capturing the kinetic energy as it moves and generates electricity. This technology
operates all the time and doesn t totally depend on the time of day to really work. Others are sunk
turbines which catch the energy as water flows through them. This technology is probably the fastest
growing technology because of the fact that it has no current environmental impacts. These
technologies don t trap silt and are easily avoidable by the local wildlife and merchant ships. Also the
material needed to build these tidal farms is much less than it would be to build a wind farm because
water us much more dense making it easier for a smaller turbine to catch and change the kinetic
energy into power that we can use. (1,2,3,4) There is also a type of technology called a tidal lagoon
that companies and governments are looking at utilizing to help produce energy. They function very
similar to barrages, except they don t need an inlet to work. These can be made along the coastlines of
islands and countries. They look a lot like little harbors stretching across the coastline. These also don
t even need to be made using artificial building materials, which cuts back on the costs of building
them. The process is the same as barrages, the sea rushes in and is held back at high tide. Then at low
tide the water is allowed to rush over turbines turning them and generating

The Freedom Writers Diary By Erin Gruwell
While I was firstly reading The Freedom Writers Diary, by Erin Gruwell, I was expecting the book to
be tedious and humdrum. The story is set to happen in a classroom Room 203 at Wilson High School,
located in California; and as we all know, high school is a place where we learn and communicate on a
daily basis. However, I was given a total shock and impressed after I fully comprehend the context of
this book. The book is formatted as a collection of diaries, written by different students from the same
self segregated class. Listening to Ms. Gruwell s suggestion, all students record their struggles, joys,
and daily experience in their diaries.
When I was reading the book, one question kept revolving in my mind: I eagerly ... Show more

What is one of the themes of this book? I guess the writer tries to point out many existing stereotypes
in life. While I was reading the book, I tried to find out some of them. On page 254, the quote on my
way... me discrimination could lead to stereotypes, the theorem is that discrimination increases
prejudice through the reactions it provokes its victims. In the first entry, troubled students bred a
higher rate of troubles, and teachers can then use the troublesome circumstances to justify continuing
the discrimelaborates a general stereotype the teacher thinks Asians are smart, while the Latino or the
black could hardly get into the universities they like. This is also a reason why teachers except for Ms.
Gruwell believe troubled kids don t have any potential to make a change: they don t even expect them
to change and thus do nothing about them. The stereotypes could also result from lots of factors in
society as well. According to my personal research and from a psychological perspective, stereotypes
have social, emotional and cognitive roots. Socials roots include social inequalities, discrimination,
and what is called in group bias in psychology. And meanwhile cognitive roots contain categorization.
Social inequalities appear everywhere in the book. To be specific, on page 23, a dyslexic student who
cannot learn normally as many others do was not treated equally by his teacher and peers. Everyone
was laughing at him and saying he was stupid. One may therefore wonder how come ination against
those kids. In group bias occurred as well. On page 8, we all see that students at school actually divide
themselves into many groups of their own race. And on page 10, a translated quote meaning my
neighbourhood is the best indicates that every one of these students thinks his or her race is the best,
which meets all the criteria of both in group bias theory categorization. Last but not the least, speaking

Properties Of Phosphorus 31 System Essay
1) Properties of Phosphorus 31 system: Ideal phosphorus system has Relatively high mass difference
between large and small isotope ratio (Large isotope: Small Isotope). It has high natural abundance so,
we can easily measure practically. It is also related to Even Magic mass number. This type of system
participates in many forms of fractionation. This system should be conservative in the process.
Generally, sources are limited to others and quantity. It may be related to the signal such as high noise
in the system. Phosphorus 31 is also little bit less sensitive than proton and somewhat higher sensitive
than carbon. It has also wide chemical shift range. Application of P 31: Phosphorus is mainly used in
NMR spectroscopy (Nuclear magnetic resonance). It is one kind of analytical technique because it has
100 % isotopic abundance and relatively high magnetogyric ratio compare to other isotopes. It has
also spin of ½ which makes spectra easy to understand and interpret. It also used to assay purity and to
assign structure of P containing compounds. By using this, we can resolve it within its characteristics.
As we discussed, In NMR, P 31 use widely particularly in Monitoring reactions, Measuring epoxide
content of carbon nanomaterials and Assaying sample purity. 2) There are so many isotope systems
has application based on the radioactive decay of isotope and buildup of the same isotope. Ar Ar
dating system is one of them. In this system, the key is that

Using A Sample Size Is Dependent On The Study Design
Research studies need not only start with efficient study design to address the hypothesis of the study
but also the determination of the appropriate number of participants that will be involved in the study.
It is true that the sample size is dependent on the study design, on statistical analysis used to answer
the study questions, and on the anticipated association between the outcome and the risk factor. The
sample size should not be too large as it wastes money and time both to the investigators and
participants in the study. It should not be too small as well because it may lead to inaccurate results
causing a waste of time and resources. In addition, participates in a large sample size may be exposed
to unnecessary risk. Therefore, careful attention should be taken while determining the appropriate
sample size for any study as it raises the question of ethical practices.
Any researcher should define the main objective of the study or the research question and the study
design before selecting a representative sample size. Then the proportion of participants, and the value
of the numbers to put in the formula is considered before determining the sample size. Kamangar
Islami (2013) states that the non statistical consideration in determining the sample size are the
availability of the fund, ethical issues, number of participants available, the novelty of the study, and
any similar studies being conducted etc. The investigators give the rationale why their study is

On April 23rd, I attended a musical performance by the Diderot String Quartet. The performance was
held at the Bruno Walter Auditorium in 111 Amsterdam Avenue, New York, N.Y. at 2:30 p.m. The
Diderot String Quartet performance that I attended was titled Diderot String Quartet: Haydn and his
Students. The Diderot String Quartet performance is titled after the musical pieces of the concert,
which included string quartets by Franz Joseph Haydn, Anton Ferdinand Titz, and Ludwig van
Beethoven. The first musical piece performed was String Quartet No. 1 in G Major by Anton
Ferdinand Titz. The second musical piece performed was String Quartet Op. 76, No.6 in Eb Major
Fantasia by Franz Joseph Haydn. The third and final piece performed was String Quartet Op.74 in Eb
Major Harp by Ludwig van Beethoven. Each musical piece was performed beautifully by the Diderot
String Quartet, which included 2 violinists (Johanna Novom and Adriane Post), a cellist (Paul Dwyer),
and a violist (Kyle Miller). Besides the performance, the location of the concert was exceptional. The
Bruno Walter Auditorium is a relatively small concert hall. According to its website, the auditorium
can only accommodate an audience of 202. However, the Bruno Walter Auditorium has an
empowering effect on the audience. When the performance began, I felt the empowering effect of the
auditorium when I saw how the audience was drawn to the center of the stage. The attention of the
audience created an intimate

Stereotypes In Family Guy
When people think of domestic jobs they think of jobs that give low pay, are labor intensive, have no
benefits, require no degree work to carry out, and are worked by minorities. While these perceptions
for the most part are true; the negative stigma attached to them is wrong as well as the assumption that
only minorities are the ones who work them. Another negative portrayal of Mexicans displayed by the
media is that Mexicans only work domestic jobs, but that is not the reality. In the show Family Guy
where they too make fun of ethnic groups regarding their stereotypes they portrays a Mexican woman
named Consuela who is the housekeeper of the Griffins the main characters of the show. In the one of

The image of Consuela shown as the typical Mexican housemaid is one with many negative
repercussions. She is shown on many occasions portraying these stereotypes in many other episodes as
well. In an article called Mexican Immigrants in the United States the Migration Policy Institute
gathered information from the U.S. Census Bureau to show the occupation of jobs that Mexicans
have. For the most part Mexicans do have a large portion of their population working in service
occupations. Aside from that Mexicans do work in jobs of management, and business which are all
jobs that take a higher level of education to obtain. Although the percentage of Mexicans occupying
these jobs is low the assumption and stereotyping of all Mexicans assuming they work domestic jobs
is something that should not be done because it diminishes the accomplishments of the Mexicans who
have obtained those higher paying jobs through hard work. Instead of stereotyping Mexicans by this
misconception we should not be judgmental towards them, and be able to recognize their
accomplishments of being able to obtain higher paying jobs and breaking that

History of State Bank in Vietnam
HISTORY OF STATE BANK OF VIETNAM The development of the Vietnam banking system has
closely linked with the national cause of revolution and construction.
Before the August Revolution in 1945, Vietnam was a feudal colonial country under the French
colonialists rule. The banking and credit system was founded and protected by the French colonialists
through the Indo China bank. Its functioned as both the central bank of the whole Indochinese region
(Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia) and a commercial bank. The bank was an effective tool for the
colonial policy of the French government and enriched the French capitalists. Thus, one of the key
tasks of the August Revolution then, was to build an independent and autonomous monetary and ...

of the previous government in the South. Accordingly, the Vietnam National Bank of the government
of the Republic of Vietnam (in the South) was nationalized and unified with the system of the State
Bank of Vietnam, carrying out together the task of currency unification in the country. It issued new

Operant Behavior Analysis
This article defined the main accounts of antecedent processes in operant behavior, it presented a
theoretical review of applied research on antecedent events in behavior disorders, and lastly it
recognized some promising areas for upcoming studies. The article talks about three theorists and their
theories. These theorists include Skinner, Kantor, and Michael. Skinner is known for his reinforcement
theory, however, he had writings of the environmental settings under which behavior may occur.
Differential reinforcement of responding in the presence of discriminative stimuli is how Skinner
believed stimulus control over behavior is developed. Discrimination describes a certain functional
relationship between antecedent events, behavior, and consequences that deliveries to a variety of
circumstances. With this said, variables that are separate from the accessibility of reinforcement may
also affect the probability that behavior will happen. Skinner offered several processes to ... Show

The Importance Of Media Influences On Children And Teens
The media has played a large part in creating the social norms in which many think of. This is because
there are many types of media out there, including advertisements and television. The media has this
type of influence on people of all ages. The influence can be trying to sell a certain item that children
and teens would want or how to act or look a certain way. For this, this is why the media has a huge
influence on the attitudes and viewpoints of children and teens.
Children and teens now live in a world that is covered with media influences. In the Australian
Nursing Journal article it states, Media sites provide young people with opportunities to stay
connected with friends, family and the world, and develop technical, creative and social skills (2012,
Australian Nursing Journal). Before the influence of the media there was a time when it was not really
something that had a huge impact on children and teens. But as time has change, children and teens
are engaged with what the media has to provide such as reality TV to using social media.
Children and teens now have the access to every type of media influence and what affect it can have
on them. With the many types of media out there for children and teen there are concerns from people
such as parents and educators on how the media influence has on them. One of the concerns that
parents and educators think that the media has on children and teens is how children and teens

COLD MOUNTAIN
The story of quot;Cold Mountain quot; is a best selling novel and it is the first

The plot of Cold Mountain is really and old idea, in fact it is an ancient one. The plot is the same as
the one in an ancient book by Homer.
The story I am referring to is quot; The Odyssey quot;. The Odyssey is a book
about a wounded soldier trying to find his way back home and his

The second part of the plot in this story is about Inman s sweetheart,
Ada. Ada has a much different odyssey than Inman, but just as perilous.
She is learning about herself, friendship, and survival.
In the beginning, Ada is trying to cope with the death of her father. Her
father, a preacher, bought her to the mountains and kept her sheltered from
the ways of the world. While he tried to give her a good life, he never
prepared he for the real world, as you will see later.
Ada was raised in Charleston, South Carolina. She was raised in an
aristocratic society where work was never experienced and money took
care of everything. Ada had no idea how to live from day to day on a farm.
Which is where she was stranded after her father died. During the war, all
the able bodied men were gone to fight and her hired help had moved away
months earlier. To make matters worse, she discovers that her father s
death had left her penniless.
Ada s desperation all changed when she takes Ruby into her home.
Ruby is a young but wise country girl that has had to rely on her own
abilities to get by for most of her life. Ruby is pretty much Ada s savior at
this point. Ruby teaches her all about running a farm, preparing food, and
how to take care of herself without depending on money.
Together, they go from desolate to having a very successful farming
operation. It return for her help, Ada gives

1. Pre existing cultures are often threatened by the immigration of diverse cultures. Two percent of the
world s population are living in a country they were not born in. Yet even though they make up a small
piece of the total population they often are seen as a cultural threat to the native ninety eight percent.
With an influx of new cultural and religious ideas, natives rush to preserve their way of life. A drive
toward destructive integrity is a phrase that means arrestment of expression. Clifford Geertz, the one
who coined the phrase, meant that dominant cultural groups require minority groups to conform to the
mainstream and popular way of life. In class we discussed how borders often can result in a change in

be taken on a case by case basis. Shweder stressed the importance of cultural anthropologists

The Responsibility Of Feeding The Family Members
during this period are as follows. 1. The responsibility of feeding the family members, especially
babies, and men weighs heavy and it is the responsibility of the women to arrange for a hearth and
collect food materials for the purpose. Many a time this exposes women to risks, eg. entering a semi
broken house to get the stored food, move through water to reach a low lying house and falling into
unseen breaches etc. 2. The responsibility of putting together a temporary shelter and moving out
whatever is left of the house to this is mainly done by women and there is significant addition of
workload in performing both the normal roles (cooking and feeding, child care, care of the livestock)
and added roles such as cleaning articles, maintaining the temporary shelter, safe guarding assets etc.
Many of these roles make women sedentary and in turn affect their role at community level. 3.
Clearing debris from the original house is undertaken once water recedes substantially and this is a
role, played most visibly by women. Injuries due to sharp objects like wood splinters, broken glass
and metal and bites from insects, and snakes are quite common and thus adding to the problem of
women. Prolonged exposure to wet soggy land results in various types of skin infections and other
diseases. 4. Once the relief initiatives start, either by Government or NGOs. Supplies of emergency
food materials, temporary shelters, clothing etc are provided. Many a time, the

  • 2. Essay On Malware There has been extensive work on detecting malicious mobile app. Literature cite{felt2011survey} gave a survey of mobile malware in the wild and analyzed the incentives behind 46 pieces of iOS, Android, and Symbian malware. Literature cite{amamra2012smartphone} classified malicious mobile app detection method based on 3 rules: reference behaviour, analysis approach and malware behaviour representation and divided smartphone malware detection techniques into two main classes: signature based and anomaly based. Literature cite{idika2007survey} examined 45 malware detection techniques which are instructive for malicious mobile app detection. In this section, we mainly focus on behavior based malware detection methods and only review the most related ones. As mentioned before, current behavior based mobile malware detection approaches can mostly be categorized into two main groups: emph{client side} and emph{server side} detection. The client side detection approaches run locally and apply anomaly methods on the set of features which indicate the state of the app. The pBMDS cite{xie2010pbmds} is based on correlating user inputs with system calls to detect anomalous activities. A Hidden Markov Model (HMM) is used to learn application and user behaviors from two major aspects: process state transitions and user operational patterns. Built upon these two aspects, the pBMDS identifies behavioral differences between user initiated applications and malware compromised ones. Zhang et ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay On Relationship Between Lord Of The Flies And The... The politician Muhammad Ali Jinnah once said, Think 100 times before you take a decision, but once that decision is taken, stand by it as one man. In the novels Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, and The Odyssey, written by Homer, this message is conveyed throughout. Furthermore, in Lord of the Flies the main character Ralph finds himself on an unfamiliar island and later finds other people. The story is characterized by the conflict between human natures; for example, savagery amongst the children and the hope for rescue. During the course of the book, Ralph is plagued with difficult decisions. Likewise, The Odyssey is about the journeys of a man named Odysseus who has to make numerous tough decisions on his voyage back home. In correlation to the eloquent dialogue of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, when making decisions, one must be thoughtful before undergoing the task. First, when making decisions, one must always acknowledge his opponents. One should especially consider the enemy s strengths and weaknesses. For example, after contemplating the skills of the Cyclops in the cave, Odysseus drew on all [his] wits, and ran through tactics... until a trick came and it pleased [him] well (Fitzgerald 381). Odysseus realizes that the Cyclops would defeat him in any physical confrontation due to his well developed brute strength; as a result, he plans to trick him because he knows that he is intellectually superior to the Cyclops. Through his review of the Cyclops s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Importance Of Volunteering In My Community Community hours; people hear of it and they complain and groan. When people think of volunteering their time, they would much rather turn a blind eye and walk away. What most people don t know is that by involving yourself with one s community it can cause a great impact, this impact is necessary for our communities to grow and become better; however I became one of those individuals who lost interest in contributing to my community once I began to attend college, I thought to myself that I didn t have the time or the time that was available I would much rather put it to use doing something of my liking. Thankfully this semester gave me the opportunity to return to the volunteering in my community and it made me have a realization. It being an academic necessity to work in my community I decided to volunteer at a local animal shelter. Taking this opportunity for my classes and work with animals, it became beneficial for me at the end. Which I have no regret at all. The Humane Society of Greater Miami was first choice I thought of when volunteering. My friends recommended me this location after doing their hours in high school. At first I was hesitant of volunteering at this, because I had no background experience with dogs. Veterinary is my major that I been aiming for ever since middle school. Living in apartment my only experience was my pet birds and livestock which I work at a farm. Dogs and birds are completely two different animals as one obviously can fly and the ... • 5. Quakers Beliefs The Protestant Reformation often gets the lion s share of attention when discussing religious reform and renewal during the Early Modern period. However, to state that the Reformation was the only significant shift in the ideology and practice of Christianity would be to greatly undersell the importance of a myriad of religious reformers that denounced the decrepit and outdated relationship between mainstream religious practice and God. For this new wave of religious reformers, the traditions of the mainstream Church (whether Protestant or Catholic) were getting in the way of godly men and women forging a personal relationship with their savior, one in which the individual is brought into the grace of God through a true lasting connection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Breaking from Protestant tradition, in which church services tended to be muted and formal, Methodist services often included crying, moaning, and shouting 8. For Methodists, this expression of true rapturous love for God was an outgrowth of the great personal love each person had for his or her creator; for Methodists, loudly and passionately expressing your religious feelings was to embrace God with all of one s being. This was a common thread among many reformers during the time period: the idea that the church services being practiced by the mainstream Protestant church were too far removed from the passionate love of God that many believers felt from within their hearts. Methodism and its focus on personal relationships and contact with God would prove very popular among disaffected Protestants, and would eventually become among the most well known and populous Protestant ... The only thing with him was his old, hand me down backpack. He opened the door to the sight of rows of kids, all scribbling down numbers on paper. It was the day for the last quiz for his Advanced Geometry course. Mark s freshman year of high school was slowly creeping to a close and teachers were desperately trying to squeeze in quizzes, tests, and assignments. It was unusual for Mark to get such a low grade so his parents bought the monstrous test book to prevent it from ever happening again. The days went by fast and everything normal was happening. Teachers were pouring out quizzes and homework assignments, Isaac got a couple more after school detentions, and Mark s parents were constantly stressing out over his upcoming report card. It was two days until the geometry test that Isaac came to Mark s house after school. They were supposed to prepare for the test by studying together. Mark knew Isaac needed his help. Impact Of Small Scale Business In Small Business In the Academy Marketing Studies Journal, it states, Since 2008 the number of small businesses using social media has doubles as their leader seek to create visibility and awareness, to identify and attract new customers, and to reinforce or change their companies respective perceived brand images. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was a law passed that primarily gave African Americans the right to vote without having to take any sort of literacy tests. African Americans were widely ignored in voting rights because they were forced to take literacy tests to be eligible to vote. Having this event in our nation s civil rights movement was a landmark that allowed the other half of our nation s voice to be heard. The Voting Rights Act itself has been called the single most effective piece of civil rights legislation ever passed by Congress. (Laney 65) Before this act was passed there ... Among others, the Ku Klux Klan, the Knights of the White Camellia, and other terrorist organizations attempted to prevent the 15th Amendment from being enforced by violence and intimidation. Once whites regained control of the state by a process known as Redemption, they used gerrymandering of election districts to further reduce black voting strength and minimize the number of black elected officials. In the 1890s, these states began to amend their constitutions and to ratify a series of laws intended to re establish and establish white political supremacy. Such disfranchising laws included poll taxes, literacy tests, vouchers of good character, and disqualification for crimes of moral turpitude. These laws were color blind on their face, but were designed to exclude black citizens disproportionately by allowing white election officials to apply the procedures Karim 3 selectively. (Laney 11) Other laws and practices, such as the white primary, attempted to evade the 15th Amendment by allowing private political parties to conduct elections and establish qualifications for their members. As a result of these efforts, in the former Confederate states nearly all black citizens were disenfranchised and removed by 1910. The same applies in term of trade, in which the system evolved from basic barter, common sharing, up to the invention of gold coins, trade and commerce system. Today s world is dominated by western cultures. The different political, economic, and societal systems in the world are strongly influenced by the western civilization values. Laws for copyright, piracy, intellectual property somehow find the origins in the socio economical system of our world. In the following essay, we will try to explore the different characteristics of the worlds which may engender the need for copyright. We will next explain what are piracy and intellectual property vis à vis the notion of copyright. Several characteristics of today s world and its business made copyright essentials for the course of everyday activities. First the materialism has been the main philosophy of most individuals. People are commonly judged based on their material possession. The emphasis is thus put on what someone s own, its goods, properties. The material benefit is of first importance, and it is the basis of world business. Thus, when someone creates, produces or makes something of potential material benefit, he will definitely want to protect it. It s clear that in such context copyright automatically becomes crucial. The war took 4 years for the north to win, and near the end of the war, the north was also fighting to end slavery. The north won the war because they had more resources, better strategies, and better transportation. First off, the north had more resources. This can easily be seen when looking at the North versus South chart. The chart shows different types of resources, such as workers, factories, railroads, firearms, and a few other useful things that are needed for a war. The graph then shows a bar graph for each of those resources, showing in each one, that north has a big advantage over south with that resource. Firearms, for example, is a resource ... This document shows that the Union had a plan for this war that was more strategic than just fighting to the death. This plan was called the anaconda plan, and it was a plan to squeeze the confederate states out of resources. This line of Union blockade were on water, and land. During the war, the Union blockade became smaller and smaller, containing all of the confederacy to a smaller area. This is one way that helped the Union win the war in the end. In the wake of his progress to the sea he left numerous Sherman sentinels (the chimneys of burnt out houses) and Sherman neckties (railroad rails that had been heated and wrapped around trees.). During migratory periods like winter, breeding, and also during migratory, the when and where animals die is important for us to understand population regulations. In migratory animals, mortality may prevail not only during the stationary periods but can also happen during the migrational seasons. But, the relative significance of population limiting factors during different periods of the year remains poorly understood, and previous studies mainly relied on indirect evidence. Here, we provide direct evidence about when and where migrants die by identifying cases of confirmed and probable deaths in three species of long distance migratory raptors tracked by satellite telemetry. We show that mortality rate was about six times higher during migration seasons than during stationary periods. However, total mortality was surprisingly similar between periods, which can be explained by the fact that risky migration periods are shorter than safer stationary periods. Nevertheless, more than half of the annual mortality occurred during migration. We also found spatiotemporal patterns in mortality: spring mortality occurred mainly in Africa in association with the crossing of the Sahara desert, while most mortality during autumn took place in Europe. Our results strongly suggest that events during the migration seasons have an important impact on the population ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In time periods previous to this, the role of women was quite different than it is in today s world. What is now equality and power was once seclusion and degradation towards women of society. Over the course of time the role of women has changed dramatically, and the plays Antigone by Sophocles, Trifles by Susan Glaspell and The Doll House by Henrik Ibsen are great works that show how women can challenge the boundaries that were put on them by a society that was not very accepting of feminism. In Antigone , it does not take long for our main character (Antigone) to step outside of the boundaries set against women in society. Antigone s brothers died in battle as leaders of separate sides, and only one was to be honored after death while the other would remain on the battlefield. A strict ruling was put down by the leader Creon that Antigone s brother Polyneices be left to rot, which Antigone quickly decides to defy. After asking her sister Ismene for help with the deed of a proper burial (which was declined), Antigone spoke of Creon by saying Nay, he hath no right to keep me from mine own (Sophocles, Norton 11th Edition). One of the resources that is essentially unlimited is a resource called Tidal Energy. Tidal Energy has been estimated that it can create 2110 terrawatt hours in the United States (7) alone. Basically this technology is floating spheres at the bottom of the ocean floor that move back and forth with waves, capturing the kinetic energy as it moves and generates electricity. This technology operates all the time and doesn t totally depend on the time of day to really work. Others are sunk turbines which catch the energy as water flows through them. This technology is probably the fastest growing technology because of the fact that it has no current environmental impacts. These technologies don t trap silt and are easily avoidable by the local wildlife and merchant ships. Also the material needed to build these tidal farms is much less than it would be to build a wind farm because water us much more dense making it easier for a smaller turbine to catch and change the kinetic energy into power that we can use. This is also a reason why teachers except for Ms. Gruwell believe troubled kids don t have any potential to make a change: they don t even expect them to change and thus do nothing about them. The stereotypes could also result from lots of factors in society as well. According to my personal research and from a psychological perspective, stereotypes have social, emotional and cognitive roots. Socials roots include social inequalities, discrimination, and what is called in group bias in psychology. And meanwhile cognitive roots contain categorization. • 26. Using A Sample Size Is Dependent On The Study Design Research studies need not only start with efficient study design to address the hypothesis of the study but also the determination of the appropriate number of participants that will be involved in the study. It is true that the sample size is dependent on the study design, on statistical analysis used to answer the study questions, and on the anticipated association between the outcome and the risk factor. The sample size should not be too large as it wastes money and time both to the investigators and participants in the study. It should not be too small as well because it may lead to inaccurate results causing a waste of time and resources. In addition, participates in a large sample size may be exposed to unnecessary risk. Therefore, careful attention should be taken while determining the appropriate sample size for any study as it raises the question of ethical practices. Any researcher should define the main objective of the study or the research question and the study design before selecting a representative sample size. Then the proportion of participants, and the value of the numbers to put in the formula is considered before determining the sample size. Kamangar Islami (2013) states that the non statistical consideration in determining the sample size are the availability of the fund, ethical issues, number of participants available, the novelty of the study, and any similar studies being conducted etc. The investigators give the rationale why their study is ... • 37. The Responsibility Of Feeding The Family Members during this period are as follows. 1. The responsibility of feeding the family members, especially babies, and men weighs heavy and it is the responsibility of the women to arrange for a hearth and collect food materials for the purpose. Many a time this exposes women to risks, eg. entering a semi broken house to get the stored food, move through water to reach a low lying house and falling into unseen breaches etc. 2. The responsibility of putting together a temporary shelter and moving out whatever is left of the house to this is mainly done by women and there is significant addition of workload in performing both the normal roles (cooking and feeding, child care, care of the livestock) and added roles such as cleaning articles, maintaining the temporary shelter, safe guarding assets etc. Many of these roles make women sedentary and in turn affect their role at community level. 3. Clearing debris from the original house is undertaken once water recedes substantially and this is a role, played most visibly by women. Injuries due to sharp objects like wood splinters, broken glass and metal and bites from insects, and snakes are quite common and thus adding to the problem of women. Prolonged exposure to wet soggy land results in various types of skin infections and other diseases. 4. Once the relief initiatives start, either by Government or NGOs.
