How To Describe Thanksgiving
As I begin to recollect past experiences and events growing up, Thanksgiving is the holiday that
appears most meaningful. I choose to illuminate Thanksgiving because this is a time when family and
friends would forget their worries and differences and collectively came together at grandmother s
house to partake of the Gullah dishes. Furthermore, it serves as a vehicle in stimulating family health
and wellbeing, while passing on the identity of the family throughout generations. As I reminiscence, I
can recall the air was bursting with love, hugs, laugher and kisses; a sight to behold. Grandmother s
house was small but no one seemed to care as it was inviting. Every area of the house was utilized
from the kitchen to the narrow stairway that lead upstairs to the bedrooms. Children were outside
playing working up an appetite although there was a chill in the air often going unnoticed, still we
were bundled in our hats, coats and mittens. This was not a formal affair but we were all neatly
dressed. The house was filled with distinct smells that was heavenly. Steam came from the kitchen as
finishing touches were placed on meals. Watching my aunts sweat trying to maneuver in a tight
kitchen hoping to avoid bumping into one another was hilarious, but I paid close attention for one day

Smoked ham with glazed pineapple, and a golden brown turkey was baked to perfection; grandma
always baked a duck especially for me and I was allowed to stuff it with dressing. Collards, and fried
cabbage glistened from the pork that was placed in the pot to add that special taste. The TV was loud
with the football game, card games were being played around the table, and others took the time to
catch up on life experiences missed; the room permeated with

Mariabylla Merian Algonquin Summary
It is important to note Marie is not in a fact typical Christian woman on her time period. She was
highly religious and had intense spiritual contention to Christ and often had visions where she claimed
that Christ could communicate to her. However it worth nothing that as a Jewish woman Glikl felt
capable and secure enough in her abilities to attempt to run a business while Marie felt that her only
option was to join a nunnery. This makes me believe that perhaps a Jewish widow had more freedom
that a Christian widow during this time period. From Marie writing we are able to get a sense on how
she believed a good Christian girl should behave. When she in the Americans she wrote on her
experiences on trying to each the Huron, Algonquin and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Protestant or Maria was a Lutheran was the most educated of the women. This makes sense because
the Protestants reformation was the one of reasons that there might have been increased education
opportunities for women. But even the protestant religion only taught girls to habituate girls to the
catechism, to the psalms to honorable behavior and Christian virtue and especially to prayer and to
make them grow up to be Christian and praiseworthy matrons and housekeepers. It is interesting to
note however in the catholic religions nuns where education was valued as we see in the case of
Marie.
The biggest difference between the catholic religion and the Jewish and protestant religion is the fact
that catholic religion values celibacy. In the Jewish religion it as a great honor and privilege to give
birth to sons while in the protestant religion, the big change that occurred was their rejection of
celibacy and there removal of the use of nuns from their religious

The Modern Concept Of Lean Management
The modern concept of lean management as used today can be traced back to the Toyota Production
System (TPS). The manufacturing philosophy was pioneered by Japanese engineers to emphasize the
minimization of waste and focus on doing it right the first time (Davis and Heineke, 2005). Engineers
knew that waste was something that customers were not willing to pay for thus they should try and
eliminate it. This led to the discovery that inventory is essentially waste. Keeping parts and products
in stock adds no value to a company, and should be eliminated. Although lean production began in
Japan, it now has been successfully implemented across the globe (Agus and Hajinoor, 2012). The
integrated activity, know as lean production in supply chain management, is designed to achieve high
volume flexible production using very minimal inventories of raw materials. This is based on the idea
that nothing will be produced until it is need. The process is implemented throughout the supply chain
with the signal essentially moving backwards from the customer all the way back to raw materials.
Lean production is an entire new way of thinking which includes the integration of vision, culture, and
strategy to serve the customer with high quality, low cost, and short delivery times (Shook and
Womack, 2015). Lean production is generally described from two points of view, either from a
philosophical perspective related to guiding principles and overarching goals, or from the practical

Pro And Negative Effects Of Medical Technology
Though underappreciated, advancements in medical technology are imperative to the success of the
human race as a whole. For instance, some of the most common medical procedures such as
amputation, surgeries, the modern ambulance, and anesthesia inhalers were created and popularized
during the United States Civil War (Rowe). Both during the civil war and currently, the advancements
decrease death tolls while making modern and future treatments safer, faster, and overall more
efficient. They have also given the more prevailing advancements a stepping stone to develop and
grow from, allowing the forthcoming medical technology to further advance. We see this same pattern
happening perpetually, creating a loop of advancements that continue to build upon themselves and
each other.
The U.S. has the most medically advanced medical care system in the world. However, its services are
mainly available to the affluent and middle class consumers who have the financial means to demand
these services (Botehlo 1991) (Dewar). Full medical care isn t always readily available to all; only
those who may afford it have access to it. This is a result of the cost of the services themselves being
higher, due to the lack of supply (so to speak) and a growing demand. However, Dewar stated, The
practice of defensive medicine had an indirect impact on technology utilization through the pressure
for increased availability of technology (Dewar). These pressures have encouraged the United States

The Death Of A Great Day By Jimmy Smalls
Jimmy Smalls was having a great day. However, that great day ended almost immediately and rather
abruptly. Jimmy had recently received a promotion to Assistant Manager of the UniTech Corporation.
Sadly, this promotion lasted for a grand total of a week. But his all new job wasn t the only thing
falling apart. On the second evening of his job, Jimmy opened his door to find basically everything in
his small but cozy home a mess. Furniture was strewn across the ground, lamps were dismantled, and
his television had a spider web crack coursing through its middle. But perhaps the most horrific sight
was of his luscious red carpet mangled and twisted as if a lawnmower was run over it. The gold lining
had frayed to the metal bits it had been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His hair flew around, whipping from side to side. Jimmy s plan was beginning to form.
What if there was a way to end variation and make everything the same? he asked Kevin. Would you
work with me to help eliminate the majority of problems in the world?
Kevin didn t really see the point of saying no, but he wouldn t have said it if there was an option. Why
not make the world a better place.
They waited for a day and stocked up on supplies.
Kevin, I need you to steal that 3D Printer from your company, Jimmy told him.
What? Why? Kevin agreed with Jimmy s plan, but he didn t see why stealing was necessary.
Jimmy tried to phrase his next answer in a way that Kevin could understand. We need that printer to
create the community. It s the only way we can make it .
Finally, Jimmy and Kevin packed their bags and headed to California. They got to work and ended up
building the infrastructure of the community. Next were the citizens. Each citizen would be made from
slightly varying presets enough to distinguish, but not to discriminate. Their haircut would convey the
same style, and everyone would wear the same clothes.
But one person was special; his name was Jason. He d be the first Receiver of the community. He
would hold onto all of the memories Jimmy would transfer to him and would host the only emotional
perspective in the community; good and bad, and he would need to pass them onto the next generation
secretly. Jason was average sized not too tall

The primary purpose for CCD is for the exchange of information when a patient is transitioning from
one care setting to the next. CCD allows for the development of clinical data by our physicians so that
they are able to transmit electronic health information to other providers especially in the instances of
transition of care or medication reconciliation. CCR helps with the prevention or loss of data meaning
which ultimately improves patient care all together. To specify patient summary data of the
continuation of care document includes demographic, clinical information facts, health encounters and
administrative information.
CCR stands for Continuity of Care record. This health record standard was collaboratively developed
by the healthcare information and management systems society or HIMSS, American Academy of
Family Physicians, ASTM international and other health informatics vendors. The continuation of care

The Film Directed By Spike Jonze Essay
In the film Her directed by Spike Jonze there are many different ideas and themes to be explored. On
first viewing one might see a film about science and technology where the second time viewing the
film one might view the film as one about relationships and social needs. These ideas and themes are
all very important to the overall message of the film. Her is a film about relationships. These
relationships include the main relationship of the film between Theodore and Samantha, as well as
between Theodore and his friends, Theodore and himself, but most importantly Theodore and the
world around him. In this paper, the themes of loneliness and need for social connection will be
analyzed. Also, the relationship which this film has with our present day world will be analyzed.
While the film s world is clearly not our own, technology wise our world is almost to the same point
as the one depicted in Her. In the film Her, one can analyze its themes of social needs by looking at
Theodore s needs and wants, the cinematography, the use of flashback, and how the film connects to
our present day world. Theodore is the main character in the film Her. Quickly we learn that he is a
romantic from his job, which is to write love letters, but we also see he is depressed and lonely. The
film is a study of Theodore and what he needs to do to escape his loneliness and fulfill his social
needs, but the viewer sees Theodore struggle with this because of what he wants. When a friend

Professionalism Of The Business Industry
The purpose of this research is to educate or inform people, who are working or about to work in the
field of business, about professionalism in the business industry because it is extremely complex and
important. Besides from wearing proper attire or having higher education, many set standard of
procedures must be abided by to be recognized as professional (Beaton, 2010; Granowski, 2012). As
Granowski and Beaton suggests or implies, professionalism is not easy to acquire because it exists for
the purpose of satisfying the customers, who are individuals with various and unique personalities.
The goal of business is to make profit. As long as customers desire and expect professional service,
business must be able to provide that.
Professionalism validates quality of business, and thus results in desired future business endeavors. In
this regard, Beaton (2010) provides an appropriate example which illustrates doctors. He states that
doctors are expected to be safe and bring positive outcome by their patients because they hold and
exhibit their degree, wear proper uniform, maintain overall hygiene, and use educated and
sophisticated words that lead patients to completely believe that doctors will even sacrifice themselves
to help patients. No one wants to be frauded, and professionalism is like antibiotic that kills that worry
of possibly being frauded. Beaton s example undoubtedly depicts that professionalism ensures that
business is trustworthy, and ultimately, will

Abraham Lincoln was a Hypocrite Essay
Abraham Lincoln was a Hypocrite
Abraham Lincoln was always known as a good and honest man. There are many other opinions that
refute this statement. Many theories say that Lincoln was far from good and honest. Throughout his
life he tried to do good then as president he tried to hold a nation together by tactics that could be
looked at as unpleasant. Abraham Lincoln is considered a hero to many, but he could also be looked at
to be a hypocrite and a racist because of his ideas about the Negro race and slave policy during his
time. Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Harden Country, Kentucky. From an early
age he was known as Abe. Lincoln later moved to Kentucky with his parents. Lincoln always wanted

pag.).
This clearly shows that Lincoln was not out for the Negro but just to preserve the union. He says in
many other debates that he thought the Negro had a physical difference from the white man as well as
an intellectual difference (Lincoln Douglas, n. pag.). Lincoln was considered by many in the south to
be a bigot, a white supremacist who wanted segregation and opposed civil and political rights for
blacks (Oates 21). Stephen B. Oates talks of many of the theories in his book, like that many
southerners concluded that Lincoln was with them in the matters of race (22). Many of these examples
show that Lincoln was a hypocrite of some sorts. He would appeal to the southerners by making
statements that led them to believe that he was against the Negro. Yet he was writing the emancipation
proclamation that was supposed to free all of the slaves. This also is debatable that the proclamation
freed any slaves at all. The emancipation proclamation is looked at by some as one of the most far
reaching pronouncements ever issued in the United States (Oates 25). Also it is said that the
proclamation freed few if any bondsman (Oates 26). Abraham Lincoln talked of the slave issue at
many occasions. He said that his paramount object

Police Brutality And The Police As An Institution, And...
The study of ethics in policing has expanded considerably over the past few years as cases of police
brutality and corruption have surfaced in the media and in the courtroom. Commentators agree that
three issues have shaped the role of ethics in policing: styles of policing, the police as an institution,

according to the Department of Justice is especially important in light of the functions and duties of

liberty, and property, and as guardians of the interests of the public police must maintain high
standards of integrity. In addition, police have assumed the right to use intrusive, covert, and deceptive
methods of law enforcement has a crucial role in protecting minority groups. Lately, they have also
suffered a series of blows to their reputation for integrity through acts of corruption, incompetence,

PC Vs Mac Essay
When purchasing a personal computer, buyers used to grapple with the decision: a Macintosh from
Apple Computer or a Microsoft based PC?
Microsoft effectively won that operating system debate years ago and claims more than 90% of the PC
operating system market.
But in the push to legally sell digital music, Apple and Microsoft, and their incompatible file formats,
are at it again. Consumers are in the position of having to choose as hardware makers line up behind
either Microsoft or Apple s software format.
Hewlett Packard s recent surprise decision to snub longtime PC partner Microsoft and offer Apple

the best.
Despite the hoopla for the H P/Apple deal, Microsoft says its momentum hasn t slowed. You ll

manager of Microsoft s Windows Media division. Just Monday, Coca Cola in Europe opened a new

The battle takes shape
Last year, Microsoft signed up company after company (including Wal Mart, Musicmatch and Best

while Apple was winning the heart of consumers.
Apple effectively kick started the legitimate digital music business last April with the introduction of
the iTunes Music Store. Originally just for Mac users, Apple opened it to Windows users in October.
Apple now claims sales of 30 million songs and a 70% market share.
Apple s iTunes success was helped by the smash success of the iPod. Some 735,000 were sold in the
last quarter alone, and 2 million to date. Microsoft says there are 4 million portable devices that can

This paper explores the dynamics of gender wage discrimination in Pakistan for two data sets; Labour

discriminated against, as it has been suggested for a predominantly Islamic country like Pakistan.

The signs of education are expected. For the data set of 2008/09, signs for education are positive
which does not support theory. Even after efforts to remove multi colinearity, they still show positive
signs. Most of the variables in the regression are also insignificant.
However, when we take the data for LFS 2010/11, and correct it for selectivity bias, we get much
better results. Most of the variables are significant as well as show the correct signs. (The same
algorithm was applied to both the data sets, and the same variables have been taken).
Results of Logit models for correcting selectivity bias are attached in Appendix A.

Slack Off Research Paper
I am a slacker. There is no possible way I will deny that. In some ways, slacking off is both a good
thing and a bad thing. I will admit that I love slacking because I don t have to worry about anything
that is so important and that I can only focus on my video games. It s true. Every time I m at home, I
play video games and slack off. Every time I am in school, I slack off and feel like that I shouldn t do
my work at all. That s what most slackers feel like. They feel like they shouldn t do anything that feels
important with the exception of video games.
What is my advice for future students? Do not become a slacker. That s the only advice I can give.
What are the main reasons? First, slacking off is not a good thing depending on how you look at it.
Slacking off can drive you away from your school work and you will definitely not graduate from
high school and you will most likely not get a good job because you didn t go to college. The second
reason is that slacking off will get you nowhere. School is the most important thing in your life and
slacking off will not help that in any way. You need to graduate in order to have a job and in order to
get money so that you can buy what every you want. Finally, slacking off will not help your family
members. Let s say that you have chores to do. You were asked to wash the dishes, cut the grass, clean
your room and many other things. You feel like the chores are of no importance so you slack off and
play video games all the long. If you slack off, you can t help your parents around the house or do ...

city with his wife, who is often away on business. He befriends a woman who lives in his apartment
complex, Su Li Zhen (referred to Ms. Chan in the film) who mirrors his loneliness and marital strife.
Ironically, Ms. Chan s husband is also often away from business, and both realize their partners are
having an affair with their respective spouses.
Su and Chow begin a fantasy relationship with one another, pretending to be each other s spouse
reenacting how their partners could have gotten together. The protagonists constantly push each other
s boundaries of propriety; their combined desire for affection is an extension of the abandonment they
feel from their spouses. Simultaneously a simulacrum of love and a reflection of genuine yearning,
they imitate a relationship and inevitably fall for one another, but fear that they ll stoop to the
infidelity of their partners. Wong Kar Wai s film is a statement about individual realities and how
people reflect on an unattainable past, as well as an exploration of physical and emotional
confinement that accompany abandonment. In The Mood For Love is a

Essay Benefits Of Legalizing Marijuana
In America the fight over marijuana has been going on for years now. Twenty five states have
legalized marijuana for medical or recreational use. In the other half of the nation marijuana is a
schedule one drug alongside heroin and LSD, higher on the list than cocaine and meth. For being such
a dangerous drug, marijuana is used by over twenty million Americans. (Ingraham) Legalizing
marijuana has many benefits economically, medically, and recreationally. Pot is legal recreationally in
Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, and the District of Columbia. Marijuana has many benefits
when used recreationally as well as for medical uses. A study in the journal Obesity found that regular
smokers are less likely to be obese than non smokers. Many people claim marijuana increases

Pot has been proven many times to treat epileptic seizures, decrease anxiety, and to slow the
progression of Alzheimer s disease. It s even been proven to prevent cancer from spreading. (Walsh)
Along with all the medical uses for it, it can loosen our dependency on other expensive pills and
treatments. There are many beneficial uses of marijuana but the government still lists it as a schedule
one drug and won t give it to people in need. There are many benefits of use recreationally and
medicinally. The legalization of marijuana in the U.S. would benefit our economy greatly. Washington
state brings in $500 million in tax revenues for marijuana. Colorado made over $5 million from pot
sales in 2011 alone. It s estimated that illegal marijuana is currently a $36 billion a year industry, if
that money was going into our government and nationwide funding it would be a tremendous benefit.
Not only is the marijuana business a gold mine, but the costs we would save from prison costs is
phenomenal. Inmates incarcerated on marijuana related charges cost U.S. prisons $1 billion annually.

Personal Statement Of Complishments For High School
I have always believed that students who see education with maturity and do their best while in high
school will succeed in their adult careers. As of this moment I am on the A Honor Roll and in the top
50% of my class rank. In my sophomore year I was inducted into the National Honor Society. Since
my sophomore year I have taken two PSEO classes, and throughout high school I have been in the
accelerated English and Math courses. Last spring I earned an ACT Composite score of 26. As a honor
student at the end of my high school career I hope to show that I hold high school records and test
scores with the utmost importance as a responsible high school student.
Extracurricular activities I have been involved in within school include Girls Tennis, Knowledge
Bowl, Speech, Yearbook and Fine Arts productions. Most notably I have been active in the music
department, specifically choir. In my freshman and sophomore year I participated in the Fantasia
Choir, and in my junior and senior year I participated in the Madrigal and Jazz Choir. In all of my
years in the high school I have participated in Large Group Festival in Kerkhoven, Minnesota and
Solo Ensemble in Benson, Minnesota. I have earned two Superior solo ratings, one excellent solo
rating, and one excellent duet rating. This January I will perform at Dorian Music Festival at Luther

Best advice is to keep a notebook for your trip. In it you can not only have a page of outfitter names,
marking off some as you go when you uncover unappealing information, plus a section for questions
to ask.
Be extensive with your question list. If you are not an accomplished hunter, then any guide you speak
with should show you patience and consideration by answering any question, no matter how silly it
might seem. When an outfitter seems reluctant to answer your questions, or begins to show impatience
with you, that s a red flag to cross that individual off your list.
So, if you re planning a hunting excursion that you want to be as enjoyable as possible, plus be

Boston Massacre vs. Kent State Shootings
It is often said to remember important mistakes, crimes, declines, anything negative so that, History
does not repeat itself. Some of the notable mistakes include strategic errors in wars; such as the
French, in World War I, stacking the Maginot Line while the Germans marched around it, and in
World War II doing the exact same thing. Other mistakes include incidents on domestic soil in which
protests turn violent such as the Boston Massacre in 1770 and the Kent State Shootings in 1970. Other
than each happening on Mondays and occurring almost two hundred years apart, the two draw deeper
comparisons to one another which caused widespread protest leaving marks in American history.

Each time police and firemen got control of the situation, the building was set on fire again. The
National Guard eventually pushed the marchers back with tear gas and bayonets as the marchers threw

with Ohio National Guardsmen. James Rhodes, the Ohio governor arrived in Kent and called the

The Rolling Stones And The Stones
The Rolling Stones Stones, a simple concretion of earthy or mineral matter, a rock, a building block, it
may be precious, or it may be garbage. The Rolling Stones are very similar to a pack a stones, a pack
of random men to play music. They first started as a small measly band that soon grew into an
international sensation. The Stones created some of the most widely known tunes and they also
created one of the most iconic styles of music, rock and roll. The Rolling Stones were defined by the
very famous founding trio, The Stones themselves, their extraordinary style and their gruesome
political troubles. Even with some hardships and struggles their success was quickly awarded with
countless music rewards.
The Creation of the Rolling Stones The group named The Rolling Stones took a very long time to
form and it all started with the founding trio. The Rolling Stones were a rock band formed by the
famous trio of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Brian Jones. Together they recruited musicians to
their rock and roll group. The Rolling Stones Biography states that, The Rolling Stones origins date
back to the boyhood friendship of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, formed in 1957. In October 1960
Richards and Jagger ran into each other. They both noticed their enthusiasm or the rock and roll and
blues music. After the encounter Richards soon joined Little Boy Blues and the Clues Boys, Jagger s

Theme Of Innocence In The House On Mango Street
The House on Mango Street uses three vignettes to state that innocence shelters children from the
extreme truth of the adult world. To begin, in The First Job , an older man unexpectedly forces himself
on Esperanza: I thought I would because he was so old and just as I was about to put my lips on his
cheek, he grabs my face with both hands and kisses me hard on the mouth and doesn t let go (Cisneros
55). Esperanza s innocence allowed her to kiss an old man on the cheek for his birthday because she
could not imagine anything inappropriate occurring. However, the man grabs [her] face with both
hands and doesn t let go . This violent action shatters the innocence that has hidden Esperanza from
the adult truth. Next, Esperanza witnesses how Tito and the boys treat Sally in The Monkey Garden :
One of Tito s friends said you can t get the keys back unless you kiss us and Sally pretended to be mad
at first but she said yes (Cisneros 96). The adult game played angers Esperanza as the boys use Sally
to their advantage and Sally [pretends] to be mad but still willingly complies. Esperanza, unlike Sally,
sees the situation as wrong because of her innocence, but when she attempts to save Sally, the boys
laugh at her. Embarrassed, Esperanza is exposed to an adult type of game and now feels confused
from this break in her innocence. Finally, Esperanza completely loses her innocence after being
sexually assaulted at the carnival: You re a liar. They all lied. All the books and

Upper Class And Social Class
Body
Social class profoundly affects an individual s academic achievement in school. In this case, social
class shapes the attitudes and values of an individual which further influences their future both
academically and professionally. Empirical evidence suggests that individuals/students attending
college/university from a lower social class face difficulties when socially integrating into the school
system leading to higher dropout rates and poor academic performance (Darnon, Jury, and Aelenei,
2017; Lehmann, 2007, 90). In comparison, a majority of individuals from a higher social class tend to
succeed in their academic career (they complete university/college, high academic performance rates,
etc.) (Darnon et al., 2017). This further infers that an obvious sociocultural difference continues to
persist among individuals who belong to different social classes.
Individuals from upper classes have the advantage of being at ease when integrating into the schooling
system. This is due to the fact that upper class individuals often have parents who reinforce
educational topics such as politics, world news, history, etc. within the home. This is supported by
findings which indicate that one of the factors related to success among upper class students is their
access to cultural capital (Callender and Mason, 2017, 24 27). Further, it is also important to take into
consideration that individuals from the upper class often have parents with college/university degrees

to The Bulgarian Borderland by L. Melishkevich SUMMARY Main Claim of Paper: Religious
divisions in Madan (and other Bulgarian towns in the Rhodope region) are produced by a religious
borderland in which individuals grapple with ideological conflict and tension, characterized by
Eastern vs. Western influences. Support: Factual information and quotes from Muslim Lives in
Eastern Europe; Supportive information (for comparisons) from other books/places examined this

back against Ghodsee s notion that Madan is unique due to the combination of its large Muslim
populations and the collapse of GORUBSO, the paper builds off past discussions of borderland (with

Moralism In Wating For Godot
Death is an undeniable universal truth. None can escape death. Every mortal being is liable to decay
and will die one day. We patiently or impatiently wait for death throughout our life. Sometimes it
comes easily and sometimes it comes in one s life in a long suffering way. As it seems to me that the
ultimate destination of our life is to move towards death. Samuel Beckett s Wating for Godot, a
revolutionary creation, highlights the issues of waiting for symbolic Godot who never comes; to me it
is waiting for death. It is not certain whether he will come or not but death will certainly come and it
does so. When it was first staged on 5th January in 1953 it made history in theatre. Play is actually for

Bernard Dukore develops a triadic theory in DIdi, Gogo and the absent Godot, based on Sigmund
Freud s Trinitarian description of the psyche in The Ego and Id (1923) and the usage of onomastic
techniques. Dukore defines the characters by what they lack: the rational Go go embodies the
incomplete ego. The missing pleasure principles: (e) go. Di di (id id) who is more instinctual and
irrational is seen as the backward id or subversion of the rational principle. Godot fulfills the function
of the super ego or moral standards. Pozzo and lucky are just re iterations of the main protagonist.
Dukore finally sees Becket s play as a metaphor for the futility of man s existence when salivation is
expected from an external entity, and the self is denied introspection. So what are they anxious for?
Martin Heidegger enunciates in his The Concept of Anxiety, anxiety as a confrontation with
nothingness. If we ask more particularly what the object of anxiety is, then the answer [...] must be
that is nothing. They are anxious for Godot and since Godot does not appear Godot is nothing. But

How Did Confucius Have A Good Government
Confucius, also known as King Qui was born in 551 BC, and passed away in 479 BC. Confucius was
a government official, who then came to see that the government was growing disorder and was very
chaotic. Confucius then decided to develop a new moral code due to the injustice and distress, he had
seen within the system. These laws consisted of respect, honesty, education, kindness, and strong
family bonds. Confucius believed that a good government was the basis for a peaceful and happy
society. And to have a good government you had to have good officials. Therefore, in order to have a
good official, you had to master the following five virtues that Confucius created. These virtues
included: Li, which stood for ritual etiquette, Ren, standing for kindness, Xin, requiring faithfulness,
Yi, for honesty, and Xiao, which meant having strong family values. With these virtues and laws being
said Confucius believed that if people had respect and had strong bonding, then the central
government would become strong and prosperous.
Confucius was a member of the upper class, but he also believed that education and knowledge
belonged to anyone who would choose to learn it. He opened a school in his home, and mythology has

If you did not follow his rules than most likely your government will fall apart and turn against you.

known for its eruption year 79 A.D. that buried the city Pompeii under a thick layer of volcanic ash.
Although the destruction of the Roman cities Pompeii and Herculaneum is mostly mentioned when

(Cashdollar et al. 1982) A Plinian eruption, also known as a Vesuvian eruption, is an eruption marked
by columns of gas and volcanic ash extending high into the atmosphere, as well as a large amount of
pumice and very continuous gas blast eruptions. A pyroclastic flow is one of the most dangerous
forces released by an erupting volcano. A column of hot gas and ash is thrown into the air and
collapses under its own weight. It then roars down the side of the volcano, obliterating everything in
its path. (Watson 2011) The collapse of the gases in the pyroclastic flow was divided into several
surges, and it is believed that surges 4 and 5 destroyed Pompeii. Pompeii, along with Herculaneum,
was mostly destroyed and buried under 4 to 6 meters of ash and pumice. (Santillo Frizell 2006)
Importance As we know now, Pompeii was buried although not completely destroyed by the powerful
eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Today, the buried buildings of the ancient city have been uncovered and
have survived to show us in amazing detail what town life was like under Roman rule, and because of
this, the discovery of Pompeii is of huge importance for our understanding of the Roman world. When
the pyroclastic flow enveloped Pompeii, its inhabitants were buried along with their city. Ash
solidified around their bodies that eventually rotted away, leaving behind human shaped holes found

  • 2. How To Describe Thanksgiving As I begin to recollect past experiences and events growing up, Thanksgiving is the holiday that appears most meaningful. I choose to illuminate Thanksgiving because this is a time when family and friends would forget their worries and differences and collectively came together at grandmother s house to partake of the Gullah dishes. Furthermore, it serves as a vehicle in stimulating family health and wellbeing, while passing on the identity of the family throughout generations. As I reminiscence, I can recall the air was bursting with love, hugs, laugher and kisses; a sight to behold. Grandmother s house was small but no one seemed to care as it was inviting. Every area of the house was utilized from the kitchen to the narrow stairway that lead upstairs to the bedrooms. Children were outside playing working up an appetite although there was a chill in the air often going unnoticed, still we were bundled in our hats, coats and mittens. This was not a formal affair but we were all neatly dressed. The house was filled with distinct smells that was heavenly. Steam came from the kitchen as finishing touches were placed on meals. Watching my aunts sweat trying to maneuver in a tight kitchen hoping to avoid bumping into one another was hilarious, but I paid close attention for one day that would be me ... Smoked ham with glazed pineapple, and a golden brown turkey was baked to perfection; grandma always baked a duck especially for me and I was allowed to stuff it with dressing. Collards, and fried cabbage glistened from the pork that was placed in the pot to add that special taste. • 3. Mariabylla Merian Algonquin Summary It is important to note Marie is not in a fact typical Christian woman on her time period. She was highly religious and had intense spiritual contention to Christ and often had visions where she claimed that Christ could communicate to her. However it worth nothing that as a Jewish woman Glikl felt capable and secure enough in her abilities to attempt to run a business while Marie felt that her only option was to join a nunnery. This makes me believe that perhaps a Jewish widow had more freedom that a Christian widow during this time period. From Marie writing we are able to get a sense on how she believed a good Christian girl should behave. When she in the Americans she wrote on her experiences on trying to each the Huron, Algonquin and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Protestant or Maria was a Lutheran was the most educated of the women. This makes sense because the Protestants reformation was the one of reasons that there might have been increased education opportunities for women. But even the protestant religion only taught girls to habituate girls to the catechism, to the psalms to honorable behavior and Christian virtue and especially to prayer and to make them grow up to be Christian and praiseworthy matrons and housekeepers. It is interesting to note however in the catholic religions nuns where education was valued as we see in the case of Marie. The biggest difference between the catholic religion and the Jewish and protestant religion is the fact that catholic religion values celibacy. In the Jewish religion it as a great honor and privilege to give birth to sons while in the protestant religion, the big change that occurred was their rejection of celibacy and there removal of the use of nuns from their religious ... • 4. The Modern Concept Of Lean Management The modern concept of lean management as used today can be traced back to the Toyota Production System (TPS). The manufacturing philosophy was pioneered by Japanese engineers to emphasize the minimization of waste and focus on doing it right the first time (Davis and Heineke, 2005). Engineers knew that waste was something that customers were not willing to pay for thus they should try and eliminate it. This led to the discovery that inventory is essentially waste. Keeping parts and products in stock adds no value to a company, and should be eliminated. Although lean production began in Japan, it now has been successfully implemented across the globe (Agus and Hajinoor, 2012). The integrated activity, know as lean production in supply chain management, is designed to achieve high volume flexible production using very minimal inventories of raw materials. This is based on the idea that nothing will be produced until it is need. The process is implemented throughout the supply chain with the signal essentially moving backwards from the customer all the way back to raw materials. Lean production is an entire new way of thinking which includes the integration of vision, culture, and strategy to serve the customer with high quality, low cost, and short delivery times (Shook and Womack, 2015). Lean production is generally described from two points of view, either from a philosophical perspective related to guiding principles and overarching goals, or from the practical ... • 5. Pro And Negative Effects Of Medical Technology Though underappreciated, advancements in medical technology are imperative to the success of the human race as a whole. For instance, some of the most common medical procedures such as amputation, surgeries, the modern ambulance, and anesthesia inhalers were created and popularized during the United States Civil War (Rowe). Both during the civil war and currently, the advancements decrease death tolls while making modern and future treatments safer, faster, and overall more efficient. They have also given the more prevailing advancements a stepping stone to develop and grow from, allowing the forthcoming medical technology to further advance. We see this same pattern happening perpetually, creating a loop of advancements that continue to build upon themselves and each other. The U.S. has the most medically advanced medical care system in the world. However, its services are mainly available to the affluent and middle class consumers who have the financial means to demand these services (Botehlo 1991) (Dewar). Full medical care isn t always readily available to all; only those who may afford it have access to it. This is a result of the cost of the services themselves being higher, due to the lack of supply (so to speak) and a growing demand. However, Dewar stated, The practice of defensive medicine had an indirect impact on technology utilization through the pressure for increased availability of technology (Dewar). These pressures have encouraged the United States as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Death Of A Great Day By Jimmy Smalls Jimmy Smalls was having a great day. However, that great day ended almost immediately and rather abruptly. Jimmy had recently received a promotion to Assistant Manager of the UniTech Corporation. Sadly, this promotion lasted for a grand total of a week. But his all new job wasn t the only thing falling apart. On the second evening of his job, Jimmy opened his door to find basically everything in his small but cozy home a mess. Furniture was strewn across the ground, lamps were dismantled, and his television had a spider web crack coursing through its middle. But perhaps the most horrific sight was of his luscious red carpet mangled and twisted as if a lawnmower was run over it. The gold lining had frayed to the metal bits it had been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His hair flew around, whipping from side to side. Jimmy s plan was beginning to form. What if there was a way to end variation and make everything the same? he asked Kevin. Would you work with me to help eliminate the majority of problems in the world? Kevin didn t really see the point of saying no, but he wouldn t have said it if there was an option. Why not make the world a better place. We need that printer to create the community. It s the only way we can make it . Finally, Jimmy and Kevin packed their bags and headed to California. They got to work and ended up building the infrastructure of the community. Next were the citizens. Each citizen would be made from slightly varying presets enough to distinguish, but not to discriminate. Their haircut would convey the same style, and everyone would wear the same clothes. But one person was special; his name was Jason. He d be the first Receiver of the community. He would hold onto all of the memories Jimmy would transfer to him and would host the only emotional perspective in the community; good and bad, and he would need to pass them onto the next generation secretly. Besides from wearing proper attire or having higher education, many set standard of procedures must be abided by to be recognized as professional (Beaton, 2010; Granowski, 2012). Many theories say that Lincoln was far from good and honest. Throughout his life he tried to do good then as president he tried to hold a nation together by tactics that could be looked at as unpleasant. Abraham Lincoln is considered a hero to many, but he could also be looked at to be a hypocrite and a racist because of his ideas about the Negro race and slave policy during his time. He says in many other debates that he thought the Negro had a physical difference from the white man as well as an intellectual difference (Lincoln Douglas, n. pag.). Lincoln was considered by many in the south to be a bigot, a white supremacist who wanted segregation and opposed civil and political rights for blacks (Oates 21). Stephen B. Oates talks of many of the theories in his book, like that many southerners concluded that Lincoln was with them in the matters of race (22). Many of these examples show that Lincoln was a hypocrite of some sorts. He would appeal to the southerners by making statements that led them to believe that he was against the Negro. Yet he was writing the emancipation proclamation that was supposed to free all of the slaves. This also is debatable that the proclamation freed any slaves at all. The emancipation proclamation is looked at by some as one of the most far reaching pronouncements ever issued in the United States (Oates 25). Also it is said that the proclamation freed few if any bondsman (Oates 26). Abraham Lincoln talked of the slave issue at many occasions. He said that his paramount object ... • 36. Upper Class And Social Class Body Social class profoundly affects an individual s academic achievement in school. In this case, social class shapes the attitudes and values of an individual which further influences their future both academically and professionally. Empirical evidence suggests that individuals/students attending college/university from a lower social class face difficulties when socially integrating into the school system leading to higher dropout rates and poor academic performance (Darnon, Jury, and Aelenei, 2017; Lehmann, 2007, 90). In comparison, a majority of individuals from a higher social class tend to succeed in their academic career (they complete university/college, high academic performance rates, etc.) (Darnon et al., 2017). This further infers that an obvious sociocultural difference continues to persist among individuals who belong to different social classes. Individuals from upper classes have the advantage of being at ease when integrating into the schooling system. This is due to the fact that upper class individuals often have parents who reinforce educational topics such as politics, world news, history, etc. within the home. This is supported by findings which indicate that one of the factors related to success among upper class students is their access to cultural capital (Callender and Mason, 2017, 24 27). Further, it is also important to take into consideration that individuals from the upper class often have parents with college/university degrees in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Borderland SOC 248T: Post Soviet Paradoxes Ryan Kelley Professor Shevchenko November 16, 2016 Response to The Bulgarian Borderland by L. Melishkevich SUMMARY Main Claim of Paper: Religious divisions in Madan (and other Bulgarian towns in the Rhodope region) are produced by a religious borderland in which individuals grapple with ideological conflict and tension, characterized by Eastern vs. Western influences. Support: Factual information and quotes from Muslim Lives in Eastern Europe; Supportive information (for comparisons) from other books/places examined this semester. CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK (with some complimentary questions) Argument: Pushing back against Ghodsee s notion that Madan is unique due to the combination of its large Muslim populations and the collapse of GORUBSO, the paper builds off past discussions of borderland (with Where the World Ended and Consecution and Social Change) to argue that a religious borderland is responsible for divisions in the Bulgarian Muslim population. • 38. Moralism In Wating For Godot Death is an undeniable universal truth. None can escape death. Every mortal being is liable to decay and will die one day. We patiently or impatiently wait for death throughout our life. Sometimes it comes easily and sometimes it comes in one s life in a long suffering way. As it seems to me that the ultimate destination of our life is to move towards death. Samuel Beckett s Wating for Godot, a revolutionary creation, highlights the issues of waiting for symbolic Godot who never comes; to me it is waiting for death. It is not certain whether he will come or not but death will certainly come and it does so. When it was first staged on 5th January in 1953 it made history in theatre. Play is actually for performance not for reading. Watching play performed on the stage by actors and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bernard Dukore develops a triadic theory in DIdi, Gogo and the absent Godot, based on Sigmund Freud s Trinitarian description of the psyche in The Ego and Id (1923) and the usage of onomastic techniques. Dukore defines the characters by what they lack: the rational Go go embodies the incomplete ego. The missing pleasure principles: (e) go. Di di (id id) who is more instinctual and irrational is seen as the backward id or subversion of the rational principle. Godot fulfills the function of the super ego or moral standards. Pozzo and lucky are just re iterations of the main protagonist. Dukore finally sees Becket s play as a metaphor for the futility of man s existence when salivation is expected from an external entity, and the self is denied introspection. So what are they anxious for? Martin Heidegger enunciates in his The Concept of Anxiety, anxiety as a confrontation with nothingness. If we ask more particularly what the object of anxiety is, then the answer [...] must be that is nothing. They are anxious for Godot and since Godot does not appear Godot is nothing. Confucius was a government official, who then came to see that the government was growing disorder and was very chaotic. Confucius then decided to develop a new moral code due to the injustice and distress, he had seen within the system. These laws consisted of respect, honesty, education, kindness, and strong family bonds. Confucius believed that a good government was the basis for a peaceful and happy society. And to have a good government you had to have good officials. Therefore, in order to have a good official, you had to master the following five virtues that Confucius created. (Cashdollar et al. 1982) A Plinian eruption, also known as a Vesuvian eruption, is an eruption marked by columns of gas and volcanic ash extending high into the atmosphere, as well as a large amount of pumice and very continuous gas blast eruptions. A pyroclastic flow is one of the most dangerous forces released by an erupting volcano. A column of hot gas and ash is thrown into the air and collapses under its own weight. It then roars down the side of the volcano, obliterating everything in its path. (Watson 2011) The collapse of the gases in the pyroclastic flow was divided into several surges, and it is believed that surges 4 and 5 destroyed Pompeii. Pompeii, along with Herculaneum, was mostly destroyed and buried under 4 to 6 meters of ash and pumice. (Santillo Frizell 2006) Importance As we know now, Pompeii was buried although not completely destroyed by the powerful eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Today, the buried buildings of the ancient city have been uncovered and have survived to show us in amazing detail what town life was like under Roman rule, and because of this, the discovery of Pompeii is of huge importance for our understanding of the Roman world. When the pyroclastic flow enveloped Pompeii, its inhabitants were buried along with their city. Ash solidified around their bodies that eventually rotted away, leaving behind human shaped holes found by archaeologists more than 1,000 years later. These casts reveal the final ...
