Naked Economics Chapter 4
WEEK 2 ASSIGNMENT Chapter 4: World, National, Regional, and Other Organizations
Case Problems
1. A popular tourist state has fallen on hard times. The state government can no longer provide
adequate funds for its state park system. The governor has proposed a group maintenance policy for
the parks. This means that all the parks in a given part of the state would be managed on a group basis.
Eliminated would be all of the individual local park managers. Several million people visit these parks
each year an important part of the state s tourism. What might be some feasible solutions to the
funding problems of the park system? We all know that the tourism plays an important role in the

keep in mind that the relation between the countries would last good and longer.
Chapter 5: Passenger Transportation
Case Problems:
1. The Rotary Club program chairman has asked you to give a talk on the advantages of cruises. He
has also hinted that club members might be interested in taking a group cruise with their spouses and
children. What would you include in your talk?
Vacation on a cruise would obviously make exciting to the families and would also make them feel
different and distinct experience. When giving them the speech on the advantages of cruises I would
include the following information:
The best thing is you don t have to keep going to board off to enjoy like: you want to watch movie it
has a theatre inside, you want to swim the pool is right there, you want to dine the fine dinning is also
there. I mean everything that enjoys you and make the trip enjoyable will already be present in the
cruise.

1920 s Homogenization Of Fashion
In a decade brandished by inequality and social climbing, the deficits of the 1920 s were masked by
the homogenization of fashion. Through the various advances and acquiescence s within the fashion
industry, a young woman living on a farm in Montana could look just like the top socialite in the New
York City inner circle. The advent of a more freeing clothing style and high fashion runway shows
allowed for the feverish replication of the season s top designs, which in turn metamorphosed into a
mass production of similar designs. To add to the high fashion deception, the creation of synthetic
jewelry created an epic era of costume jewelry, an indiscernible alternative to real gems. The flapper
look of the Jazz Age began as a freedom for women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It may have seemed like all the women were on a equal playing field by the end of the 1920 s, but they
may not have been. As previously mentioned, women were trying to pass off fake jewelry as real to fit
in with the upper crowd. The upper class women were losing their dominance in the fashion world and
it was evident they were not happy. Style leagues that would dictate fashion by elected officials began
to pop up in New York City. It seemed that if they could not rule fashion by purchasing uncopied
frocks, they would create policies and dictate the in designs and accessories themselves ( Society
Women Form Style League 64). Taking hold of the industry, the elected officials would cooperate with
manufacturers, designers, fashion artists and women who are socially and professionally chic ( Society
Women Form Style League 64). This was without a doubt the official beginning of what we now call
the group of women who run behind the name, fashion police. As the lower to middle class women
climbed the rungs of the fashion ladder, the upper class women were doing all that they could to push
the ladder off the

Becoming A Forensic Psychologist
Have you ever imagined yourself on Criminal Minds or maybe even Law Order? I know I have
visualized myself being a part of those television shows. There is a lot to mentally and physically do
before you can actually become a forensic psychologist. Educational requirements are very precise
unlike the physical requirements. I have always imagined myself becoming a Forensic Psychologists

very small is important to me. Especially helping out sex victims allows me to find ways to uncover
the truth on why rapists did what they did. Great spirits have often overcome violent opposition from
mediocre minds. Albert Einstein, (1879 1955) Forensic

The colonists had many reasons to not obey the king. The reasons are, the colonists were able to
govern themselves for years and now British wants control, even though they have taken care of
themselves for a long time. Also the colonists weren t equally represented. Lastly there was Salutary
Neglect, which is the unofficial British Policy that enforced laws on american colonists. Additionally,
the colonists were governing themselves for a while and now the british want control over them. They
were able to make the laws and taxes for themselves. In the document Government it states a charter
listing a number of rights that most colonist thought they should have. For example, the King passed
The Stamp Act and The Quartering Act, which taxed the colonists on stamps and imported item. Also

Literature
Formalism The Hershey Bar of Criticism
Formalism means a lot of different things to a lot of different people and refers to many different types
of critical work and analysis. But to make a complicated matter simple, we can say pretty safely that
formalism refers to critics or criticism that, first and foremost, emphasize the form or structure of a
work of art and assume that nothing in that form or structure is really accidental or insignificant. That
is, the formal elements in a work of art all mean something, in relation to one another and to us. By
looking at the architecture of art how it is constructed, what its elements are, how they fit together,
why they are there, and where they lead formalism assumes that we will make ... Show more content

Moreover, what we mean by form can range widely not just between different works of art but within
a single work of art as well. For example, when examining a literary text, we may talk about plot as a
formal element by discussing its characters and their actions, and then we may focus on characters and
actions as formal elements by analyzing voice and motivation. In turn, we may then decide to study
voice and motivation as formal elements by considering things like word choice, feeling, or theme.
And so on and so on. Plot, character, action, voice, motivation, feelings, themes when and where does
a formalist analysis begin, and where does it end?
Some answer this question by saying it ends just before it reaches the real world. Formalist critics are
sometimes thought to ignore the real world in favor of the representational world that the work of art
creates, looking only at its intricate internal structures and landscapes. But formalist analyses often go
hand in hand with different types of criticism or concerns. For example, studying how and when
certain characters are introduced into a plot might lead to claims that sound more like feminist
criticism than formalist criticism. Similarly, someone studying those thumb prints on the vase might
end up asking us to rethink a few of our historical or anthropological assumptions about a particular
group of people who worked and played within a particular cultural context. Thus, by

Minoan Mycenaean Weapons
The Minoan and Mycenaean cultures lived among the later Greeks far after they were gone. There are
many things in their culture used by the later Greeks. The biggest things carried on by the Greeks were
the advancements in technology by the Minoan and Mycenaean people. Let me explain in more detail
what technology they helped the Greeks to get better at over time. Weapons Bronze was the preferred
meatal for weapons before the Minoan and Mycenaean people. The use of tin, copper, silver, and gold
were used by them as well. These metals were readily available to the Minoan and Mycenaean people
in mines and deposits in the Mediterranean basin. Except for tin which came from the British Isles.
The weapons of choice for the Minoan and Mycenaean people were daggers, swords, spears, and
javelins. These weapons allowed them to defend themselves any way possible. Defending themselves
with weapons were not the only things they created with these metals. The Minoan and Mycenaean
people created body armor such as shields, helmets, and leg and arm coverings. The body armor was
just as important as the weapons. Now the people have an opportunity to protect their body, and have
a higher chance of survival when taking a blow to the body (Matthews, ... Show more content on

improvements were just around the corner. By 1300 BCE the chariots were redesigned to have six

Scarlet Letter Puritan Society
The Scarlet Letter was set in Massachusetts Bay Colony during the 1600 s. This society is built upon
with Puritans beliefs and systems, which affects Hester Prynne as she lives in this Puritan society.
Nathaniel Hawthorne, author of The Scarlet Letter, exposes Hester Prynne as an adulterer with the
Letter A adhered on her chest. The people of the town afflicted and bedeviled Hester. Everyday for her
was filled with shame and affliction of her sin, so was her daughter Pearl. Pearl was considered as a
sin of her parents actions, which one of them is paying the price. The father of pearl, which happens to
be Arthur Dimmesdale, buries his guilt, for the sin he committed, deeper into his heart, which caused
him to be insane. In this Puritan society, people are constantly doing actions that gains them their
pleasure. They start by harassing and inflicting pain to the people who brought shame to their society,
which are Hester and Pearl. Satisfying their sadistic nature, by deriving pleasure to themselves. As a
result, women in this society also use their hypocritical ways to gain pleasure by their humiliating
conversations. The Scarlet Letter, reveals the women of this society as in the idea of hypocrisy. They
neglect democracy and equality of both sexual beings in this society, by punishing them through
different views depending on their gender. Dimmesdale, the reverend, would be punished differently
than Hester. In chapter 2 page 35, it states If the hussy stood up for

Summary Of The NovelSpill, Simmer Falter, Wither
In the award winning novel Spill, Simmer, Falter, Wither by Sara Baume there is lots of detail using
imagery and a strong unbreakable bond between a man and his dog. During this novel there will be
two characters a 57 year old bitter man named Ray and an eager one eyed dog named One Eye. While
these two are very similar in many ways they also have differences and challenges that unfold during
the novel. Both Ray and One Eye are similar in that they both share sadness. They both didn t have
moms growing up. Ray s mom abandoned him when he was just a baby. Ray states I d like to believe
the house itself gave birth to me (page 12 13). One Eye also didn t have any parents he was all alone
abandoned in the pound and still would be if it wasn t for Ray (page 6). They also share the same
sadness on page 47 Ray says, Sometimes I see the same sadness in you, the same sadness that s in me.
On page 181 Ray asks One Eye At first it was a beautiful view, but suddenly it seems like a sad place,
don t you think it s sad? On the other hand, the sadness of Ray and One Eye are also different. Ray is
sad and feels like he hasn t had a full life he states I m fifty seven. Too old for starting over, too young

Malware Analysis And Detection Techniques
MALWARE ANALYSIS/DETECTION TECHNIQUES
Sikorski Honig (2012), explain the fact that when carrying out malware analysis and detection, only
the malware executable is present, which is usually not in natural language form. A variety of tools
and techniques need to be employed to ensure that the underlying information is revealed. Two basic
approaches to malware analysis and detection include: static analysis (observing the malware without
running it), and dynamic analysis (running the malware). They can be done either in the basic form or
more advanced ways.
Static Analysis
In the basic form, static analysis involves carefully observing the executable file without looking at
the actual commands or instructions. This is done to ascertain that a file is indeed malicious, give
information about its functions, and occasionally give information that will enable one produce simple
network signatures. This process is straightforward and can be performed quickly, but in most cases, it
is not effective when dealing with sophisticated malware, and may miss significant behaviours. An
example of static analysis is the use of antivirus software such as AVG for malware analysis. Unique
identifiers called hashes can also be used to identify malware in static analysis.
Dynamic Analysis
In the basic form, dynamic analysis techniques involve both running the malware code and examining
its behaviour on the system or network so as to remove the infection, derive effective signatures, or

Salt Solution Concentrations And Water On The Mass Of...
The Effect of Salt Solution Concentrations and Water On the Mass of Potatoes
Research Question
What happens to the mass of the diced potatoes when submerged in varying concentrations of salt
solutions and water in 10 minute intervals? This experiment will compare the mass of the diced
potatoes submerged in distilled water, 1% salt solution, 5% salt solution, and 10% salt solution
respectively in 10 minute intervals.
Background Information
Potatoes first originated in South America and were later introduced to Europe by Spanish explorers.
Now, potatoes have become an important staple food item to have in the kitchen. They are packed
with more energy than any other vegetable. A potato is made of potassium, vitamin C, fiber, starch,
water, and fat. The concentration of each component is as follows: 18% starch, 78% water, 2
5%protein, and 1% fat.
Hypothesis
If the concentration of the salt solution increases then, its mass will decrease. This is because water
molecules move from a higher concentration to a lower concentration in a process called osmosis.
Potatoes are made of mostly water and because of the salt solution concentration the water molecules
in the potato will move out of it. The higher the concentration, the more water molecules move out of
the potato.
Variables
The independent variable is the salt solution concentration. The dependant variable is the mass of the
potato. The control variable is the distilled water.
Control of Variables

The Success Of Boston Tea Party
Boston Tea Party
The colonies owned by Britain in North America, sought independence. Between the 1760s to present
day a lot has changed. The effects of the Boston Tea Party have thrived throughout America ever
since. The Boston Tea Party was a significant event in U.S. history, largely because of tea s importance
at that time, the acts of rebellion that occurred during the tea party, and the impacts they had on
shaping today s society.
Carp stated that around the early 1580 s, Europeans adopted tea for the first time.Coffee and chocolate
were also introduced to Europe around this time. These beverages did not make an impact right away
because the taste was very bitter. The beverages started to boom once sugar was added. The plant,
camelia sinensis, produces all pure tea. All the tea that Americans and Europeans consumed came
from Chinese soil until the nineteenth. Ever since, India, has the most well known varieties of tea.
The East India Company was the primary exporter of tea to the colonies. Before the Boston Tea Party,
they stood for 3% of all goods sent to the colonies from England. They exported an estimated 70,000
pounds (currency in U.K.) of tea a year. A merchant once estimated that each American drank over
two pounds of tea a year! Tea was consumed in households everywhere. Tea became a necessity along
with sugar and tobacco. Tea was on the rise, so Americans spent their hard earned money on
accessories that complimented their tea.

The Senior Year Identity Crisis Summary
The article The Senior Year Identity Crisis by Julia Schemmer demonstrates a central idea throughout
the text. This article is about Julia Schemmer experience s throughout high school and the way she
reflected on her long journey. The central idea of this article is that people s expectations can impact a
person s identity. Julia demonstrates this central idea by talking about her experiences and the way she
was effected. For example, according to the article The Senior Year Identity Crisis it states I walk with
my head held high and my heart in the sky, successfully putting on a mask for my family, friends and
peers. This quote demonstrates how in order for Julia to please her family, friends, and peers, she has
to put on a mask meaning she has to hide who she really is in order to fulfil everyone else s image
they have for her. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, another example of how Julia demonstrates the central idea is when she realizes what she
wanted to do in life. According to The Senior Year Identity Crisis it states I want to be known for more
than what I have done...I don t want to be known for what I have, but what I gave to someone in need.
This quote demonstrates how Julia Schemmer realized how ever since she changed her identity she
never really got to do what she wanted in life. She always tried to satisfy others where she wasn t
satisfying herself. After realizing this Julia reveals her true identity and creates the new image she
wants for herself. Overall, Julia Schemmer s journey throughout high school demonstrated the central
idea of how people s expectations can impact a person s

The Pros And Cons Of Single Parents
I was raised in a single parent household for much of my life. I can say that children who are raised in
a single family home have been looked at as being different for many years. Being raised by only one
parent seems hard or even impossible to many, yet over time it has become more of the norm.
Throughout society today, many children have grown up to become mentally stable and successful
whether they had one or two parents to help navigate them on the road of life. Where the problem lies
is in the difference of children raised by single parents versus children raised by both a mother and a
father. This topic has become a very thought provoking argument with various questions being asked
such as; Does a child need both parents? Should the government provide help or services for single
parents? What role do step parents and step siblings play? People need to understand that to properly
raise a child, they should not focus on the structure of the family, but should be focused on the values
and processes that are taught while their children grow and mature. Children of a single parent
household can continually grow and excel just as well as children with a two parent household.
Some people think that children can only grow to their full potential by being raised by both a mother
and a father. For one parent to raise a child by themselves, it can be difficult for several reasons. A
single parent must work full time or with today s job market, work numerous part time jobs

Should Animals Be Kept In Zoos Essay
Zoos are the places where animals are kept. Some people argue that animals shall not be kept in zoos
as they deserve freedom. Zoos cannot provide them with enough space, therefore, they cannot run
around so as to grow up freely.
On the other hand, some people argue that animals should be kept in zoos. Nowadays, forests and
mountains have been cut down by people. If we leave animals alone, they might have nowhere to find
food and nowhere to live. It is for the sake of the animals themselves that we keep them in the zoos.

The larger animals seemed to go quietly about their business but the animal that caught my attention
was the adult elephant that seemed to be pacing up and down out of boredom. This is understandable
because even though the park has given the elephants massive amounts of green space to themselves,
in the wild they are used to hundreds and hundreds of miles that become their domain. The equivalent
would be like placing a human under house arrest.
The more dangerous animals like lions and tigers are also given their own large enclosures and people
can view them from behind a glass screen. Their focus on that day was on keeping out of the sun by
lying under shady trees and Izmir zoo is very much backing the stance that if you do not get to see an
animal then you should return at a different time. They are not forcing the animals into any ridiculous
side shows involving party tricks and silly costumes.
Animals aside, the park does give a lot of information to visitors about the animal that they are seeing
and two days within a week are dedicated to educational tours for children. This is to describe the
traits, natural habitat and eating routines of an animal. It is quite plain to see that the park aims to keep
its animals in the best conditions possible however this does not distract from the moral and ethically
question of Should animals should be kept in

Pros And Cons Of A Representative Democracy
Stauffenberg, Griffin
Analytical Paper #1 Take it all the way back to when the constitution was being written. The founding
fathers had a big choice to make; did they establish a direct democracy or a representative democracy?
They had to weigh the pros and cons of each and they ended up deciding on a representative
democracy. In this paper I will tell you why they made things the way they did and certain
compromises they made along the way. Some of the major features in a direct democracy are that the
people get to directly elect things such as the president or for laws to be passed or not. The big
advantages of a direct democracy are that voting takes much less time as it is just a vote among all the
citizens, people see the the changes they voted for take effect faster, and people feel like their vote is
valued and powerful. The downsides to a direct democracy are that sometimes the popular vote isn t
always the right vote and people realize that after it s too late to change what they did. Around the
time of the American Revolution the majority of people were considered, too uneducated to govern
themselves (Schmidt, et al, 5). When our constitution was being written many of the founding fathers
did not believe that the common people were ready to govern themselves, so they set up a
representative democracy instead of a direct democracy. James Madison thought that if we did
implement a direct democracy it would, deteriorate into mob rule (Schmidt,et al, 5). A major

Analysis Of Discoverie Of Witchcraft By Reginald Scot
Historical Context
Discoverie of Witchcraft was written by Reginald Scot. Reginald Scot was an English parliamentary
member . He was born in 1538 in the southeastern region of England. His father fought was knighted
by Charles V and fought alongside King Henry VIII. The knighting and military victories fought by
his father allowed for the Scot family to become members of Parliament.
Discoverie of Witchcraft was published in 1584. During this period in English history, accusations of
witchcraft were rampant. People were so cynical about random events such as sickness and accidents.
Scapegoats seemed to be a favorable option for the public. Many innocent people, mainly older
women, were suspected as the prime offenders of many of the mysterious events that occurred. These
victims were tried and executed for their crimes .
Purpose of Discoverie of Witchcraft
The purpose of this passage was to persuade the clergy and public to stop persecuting innocent people
for crimes that could not be proven. Scot, during his lifetime, had seen many witch trials and believed
that witchcraft, in the way the public believed it worked, was impossible. He used deductive reasoning
to try and persuade his colleagues that the pursuit of witches was senseless and harmful. The piece
was produced publicly. Its intended audience was the clergy, public and magistracy. Scot wanted them
to stop the madness of witch hunting.

Gun Violence And Control Gun Control In The United States
Humanity... All of my suffering on this world has been at the hands of humanity, particularly women.
It has made me realize just how brutal and twisted humanity is as a species. All I ever wanted was to
fit in and live a happy life amongst humanity, but I was cast out and rejected, forced to endure an
existence of loneliness and insignificance, all because the females of the human species were
incapable of seeing the value in me. This is the story of how I, Elliot Rodger, came to be. This is the
story of my entire life. It is a dark story of sadness, anger, and hatred. It is a story of a war against
cruel injustice...This tragedy did not have to happen. I didn t want things to turn out this way, but
humanity forced my hand, and this story will explain why (Blum, Jaworski, 2016, p. 408). These were
the words of Elliot Rodger before killing six people and injuring fourteen at the University of
California, Santa Barbara. Mass shootings have occurred with increasing regularity in the United
States. Mass shootings are violent incidents that involve firearms with multiple people ending up dead
or injured. In the United States, the subject of mass shootings inspires strong debates about various
issues leading to such incidents such as guns, mental health, and media and how it influences violence.

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success Essay
The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success Following the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success has made me the
person that I am today. The laws that we have followed have been the Law of Pure Potentiality, the
Law of Giving, the Law of Karma or Cause and Effect, the Law of Least Effort, the Law of Intention
and Desire, the Law of Detachment, and the Law of Dharma or Purpose in Life. These laws have
taught me that success is not a destination it is a journey. They have taught me that true success is the
unfolding of the divinity within us. And following these steps has helped me to find success with in
myself. Applying the first step in the Law of Pure Potentiality was very difficult for me because I live

It makes me see how simple life really is. The third step in the Law of Pure Potentiality was the most
difficult to obey, it still is extremely difficult for me. All my life for some reason I have been
judgmental, I always made comments on others clothes or their demeanor. Not always in a negative
way, usually I am just stating things that I have noticed. It is like second nature to me especially
because my family and friends are the same way. After learning about this law and discussing it I
noticed how much I actually do it. Everyday I catch myself going to make comments. I usually I stop
myself before I speak, I do not always though. It is very difficult for me, it upsets me a lot when I am
judgmental. I have gotten much better than I was. I notice how I am not judging where in the past I
normally would. The Law of Giving steps are not as difficult for me to follow as the Law of Pure
Potentiality. The first step is the hardest for me. I do not always remember to bring a gift wherever I
go, and sometimes I feel like it is inappropriate, that others will think that I am weird. Like when I am
going to someone that I do not know that well s house for a short time, and when I go to my
boyfriends house because I go there so often I think they would think it was strange that I was always
bringing gifts. Although, when I go to friends houses for dinner or for overnight I do bring a gift, like
cookies, chips, or soda. Something

Zinn Chapter 1
Sujay Deshpande
Mr. Lifland
AP US History
1 August 2015
A People s History of the United States: By Howard Zinn
Chapter 1:
Chapter one of Howard Zinn s A People s History of the United States discusses the differences
between the culture and attitudes of the Europeans and the Native Americans. It further describes how
the Europeans came to the New World and committed genocide against the Native Americans in order
to get land and gold from them, which displayed the cruelty and greed of the European explorers
coming to the Americas. However, many historians consider these actions by the European
Conquistadors to be necessary in order for human progress to occur, but Zinn argues whether human
progress needed all of these barbaric actions. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Zinn mentions throughout the text about how awfully treated women were compared to men and how
they were considered inferior to men. Zinn believes that the discrimination and mistreatment of
women during the Colonial time period was the leading cause of the first movements of women s
rights in America. Zinn initially talks about the difference of treatment between Native American
women and women in the colonies, as he writes, It would be an exaggeration to say that women were
treated equally with men; but they were treated with respect, and the communal nature of the society
gave them a more important place. (Zinn) This quotation shows how the Native American women
were treated with respect from others while the women in the colonies were sexually abused and
considered worthless by their masters and husbands. Zinn uses this evidence to really show the better
treatment of Native American women compared to the women in the colonies. In addition, Zinn goes
into further detail about the treatment of women and references to what the slave traders saw, as they
state, I saw pregnant women give birth to babies while chained to corpses which our drunken
overseers had not removed... . packed spoon fashion they often gave birth to children in the scalding
perspiration from the human cargo. (Zinn) This quotation shows the awful

Edvard Munch s Painting Scream Munich Essay
Edvard Munch s Painting Scream Munich
Edvard Munch is looked upon as one of the most significant influences on the development of
expressionism. Edvard Munch was quoted as saying We want more than a mere photograph of nature.
We do not want to paint pretty pictures to be hung on drawing room walls. We want to create, or at
least lay the foundations of, an art that gives something to humanity. An art that arrests and engages.
An art created of one s innermost heart. I believe in The Scream Munch did just as he said.
The expressionism period was a movement to invoke emotions through art work. In The Scream
Munch stirs up emotions through his heavy brush work and the use of unnatural colors. The use of red

In 1908, Munch had a nervous breakdown, a culmination of his anxiety and fears going all the way
back to his childhood. During the years pervious to this he had experienced some of the most extreme
emotions humans can. At age 5, his mother died and at 14 , his favorite sister, Sophie dies as well.
Tuberculosis entered his childhood bring him horrid visions of death, pain, paranoia, and despair.
It was with these emotions Munch eventually, in 1893, brought to the canvas of The Scream. He tried
to create the all encompassing emotion of total complete undeniable despair. When all hope is gone;
when death is eventual; when the world seems to be completely aganist you and there is nothing you
can do about any of it. The Scream displays the despair of life as he had experienced one day while
walking with his friends. As he has written himself I was walking along the road with two friends. The
sun set. I felt a tinge of melancholy. Suddenly the sky became a bloody red. I stopped, leaned aganist
the railing, dead tired, and I looked at the flaming clouds that hung like blood and a sword over the
blue black fjord and the city. My friends walked on. I stood there, trembling with fright. And I felt a
loud, unending scream piercing nature.
How did Munch achieve sunch an enormously disturbing effect? Looking at it we see a deformed

Examples Of Stereotypes In The Simpsons
One of the beloved grandfathers of television history has been Grandpa Abraham Simpson from The
Simpsons who demonstrates how we interact with the geriatric population in America. Although
Grandpa Simpson shows up in many gags throughout the series, I will be focusing on three episodes
where he and the other senior citizens of Springfield are involved in the main plot. Grandpa vs. Sexual
Inadequacy focuses on the relationship between Grandpa Simpson and his son, Homer, while he helps
Homer s intimacy issues. The Front involves his grandchildren, Bart and Lisa, using Abraham s name
to submit scripts to their favorite cartoon. The Old Man and the C Student showcases the other
residents at Grandpa s retirement home where Bart is forced to volunteer. These episodes hold
accurate representations of our perception of the elderly. Often, older characters on television shows
are portrayed in a negative light and The Simpsons are no exception. These characters are used in gags
to exaggerate common stereotypes we see in the elderly such as making irrational demands or their
apparent forgetfulness. When Bart and Lisa visit Grandpa at his retirement home, he is often ... Show

What Is Bumping Into Mr Ravioli
Perspective can change if the world opens up their eyes and hearts to everything around them. In
society, people tend to forget that there are those who have different living conditions compared to
themselves. They do not try to understand what others are going through or what can cause them to
engage in their actions. In Bumping into Mr. Ravioli , written by Adam Gopnik, the author writes a
story about his daughter, Olivia, creating an imaginary friend that is too busy to play with her. Gopnik
assumes that her imaginary friend is a sign of trauma or a sign of loneliness. At first, he does not take
into account of Olivia s environment or how she sees the world. Outside influences, cultures, values,
and personal beliefs may change a person s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the story, Gopnik decides that Ravioli is an astounding influence on Olivia and that he
was wrong about New York. At first, he thought New York was the problem because it is known to be
a busy state. He declares in the beginning that being busy is horrible and that it took a toll on his
daughter. Although, towards the end of the story, Gopnik changes his mind about busyness and
Ravioli altogether. He sees Ravioli with a new set of eyes and now he understands that even though
Ravioli is busy all the time, he is actually helping Olivia by doing so. Ravioli is allowing Olivia to
become independent, to see the outside of New York in her imagination. Gopnik expands his mind and
realizes that New York is not the perfect place he once thought. He learns about how dependent
everyone is with their communication devices. Adults go to work with their devices and come back
home with e mails, fax machines and telephones. He believes that communication devices do not
allow one to finish a conversation and become satisfied with it. Also, New Yorkers are building up
walls within themselves and use technology to avoid their friends. Gopnik saw this as a negative about
New York but, he did not notice these negatives until he looked at New York in a new manner. In
order to become a successful human being, one has to open up their hearts and see what others see.

Impact of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill on USA’s...
Depleting reserves, high oil prices and spectacular offshore discoveries concentrated a global attention
to deep water (National Geographic, p.3). Joel and Bourne (2010) claim the Gulf of Mexico now
accounts for 30 percent of U.S. production, with half of that coming from deep water (1,000 to 4,999
feet) . The U.S. government roughly calculated that the deep Gulf might contain 45 billion barrels of
oil (NG, p.44). Hence, this fact gave new reasons for oil companies to drill oil wells in that region.
The Minerals Management Service (MMS), the national agency that administrated offshore drilling,
used to claim that the possibilities of blowout were less than one percent, and that if one did happen, it
would not release much oil (National ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

nation from the Oval Office, he said: Already, this oil spill is the worst environmental disaster America

a matter of minutes or days. The millions of gallons of oil that have spilled into the Gulf of Mexico are
more like an epidemic, one that we will be fighting for months and even years. Through January 25,
2011, there were collected 8,209 birds, 1,143 sea turtles, and 109 marine mammals affected by the

What techniques can I use when making decisions?
These might include:
? Brainstorming
A brainstorming session is a tool for generating as many ideas or solutions as possible to a problem or
issue. It is not a tool for determining the best solution to a problem or issue. Before beginning any
effective brainstorming session, ground rules must be set. This doesn t mean that boundaries are set so
tightly that you can t have fun or be creative. It does mean that a code of conduct for person to person
interactions has been set. It s when this code of conduct is breached that people stop being creative.
The best way to have meaningful ground rules is to have the team create their own. Try performing a
mini brainstorming session around creating brainstorming ground rules. It should provide a nice
opportunity to practice the skills necessary for an effective brainstorming session. This also allows the
team to take ownership of acceptable and unacceptable behaviors. Only if the team hasn t addressed
the key ground rules should you (as the facilitator) add to the list. Once the ground rules list is
generated be sure to gain consensus that the session will be conducted according to them, and post
them in a highly visible location in the room.

Desire of the Fourteenth Century Women
Desire of the Fourteenth Century Women
Is not what we desire, the most hard to get? It has always been this way. Unfortunately, women s
rights and abilities have been underestimated over the centuries. In the fourteenth century, the status
and condition of a European woman depended on her husband s position. Women had to endure
arranged marriages, abuse and male dominance. During that time, Geoffrey Chaucer wrote The
Canterbury Tales and taught us about one extraordinary woman whose name is Dame Alisoun.
Alisoun is called The Wife of Bath, and she defines what women desired most in fourteenth century
England. She believes that women wish for power over their husbands, and I personally agree with her
opinion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

men s weak sides and chooses her tactics depending on the situation. In her Prologue , the Wife of
Bath points out that there are no women writers and that only men write. Everything described in
Janekin s book is written from the men s point of view, and here Alisoun uses a painting as an
analogy: Who painted the leon, tel me who? By God, if wommen hadden writen stories, As clerkes

themselves. The Wife of Bath explains that actually women are unable to present theirs ideas because
in the fourteenth century, women were not necessarily literate. Alisoun probably cannot read herself.
Only men can write about women, and Alisoun does not agree with what they say.
The Wife of Bath breaks the rule and norms for the fourteenth century woman. She mentions God
often, and she explains that true nobility comes from him: For gentilesse cometh fro God allone (line

God. Even though Alisoun has an

The Importance Of High School Student Athletes
Although some may believe that high school student athletes who do poorly in their academic courses
should still be able to participate in athletic programs, I do not agree. It allows students who are
capable of performing well in the classroom environment to feel as if it is not necessary to do so, for
most athletes, high school sports will be as far as they will go, and furthermore the idea that sports are
an extra curricular rather than a privilege has been lost.
The stereotype that all athletes, specifically football players and cheerleaders, are all dumb jocks, is a
very popular belief. However, this is of course not true for everyone, but some of these athletes may
use this as an excuse to under preform since they believe that less is expected of them to begin with. In
most cases, for any student, the amount of effort you put in will be what you receive back. If teachers
in school cut slack for athletes just so the star player is able to play Friday nights, then students will
never feel like they need to try because their grades are just handed to them. Athletes are expected to
give 110% on the field or court, so why wouldn t the same be expected inside the classroom? While
people could argue that the player is an important aspect to the team, then it should be enforced for
them to pass on their own with, for example, 70 s and above. With less expected of them, they will
lose the opportunity of learning the value of having a strong work ethic. Additionally, when their
coaches double as their core class teachers, rules that are set in place for no pass, no play are bound to
be broken. Breaking these rules only hurts the students in the long run.
For most of these athletes, high school sports will be the finish line. But, if all of their time is spent
focusing on sports rather than academics, when the time is up and reality sets in, they are not going to
be prepared. By coaches, teachers or even principals allowing these athletes to breeze by without
applying themselves or working hard, it is almost equivalent to setting them up for failure. So much
time will go by wasting away on something that is fun for four short years while they could be setting
out to achieve bigger and better things.

Pipelines Are Making Headlines Lately For All The Wrong...
Pipelines are making headlines lately for all the wrong reasons. It is important to address why they are
perceived to be harmful, if they actually are, and how they can be improved for the future, or if they
should be eliminated. The use of pipelines date back as far as 500BC in China. In those times, the
pipelines were made of bamboo, used to separate the salt from the sea water. The United States did not
adopt these until much later. Edwin L. Drake drilled his first commercial oil well in the United States
near the city Titusville in Pennsylvania; the oil which they nicknamed rock oil was then used as a less
expensive alternative to whale oil. It was used as lubricant and as fuel for lamps. It was not long after
this that it was realized they would need a more cost effective way of transporting the oil from place to
place. At the time, Teamsters were using horses and wagons to get the oil to the markets; one barrel
going five miles costed more than the entire rail charged to go to New York City. For that reason, the
pipeline was created. The first pipelines were nothing special; they were short and sometimes made of
wood. With their growing popularity into the 1860s, the quality control followed over the pipe
manufacturing, switching from wrought iron to steal. (Pipeline 101, n.d.) Coming into the twenty first
century, the pipeline has still been playing a key role in the oil industry. Given, its importance to the
oil industry it is important to understand how

Several animal studies suggested that inhalation of formaldehyde and acetaldehyde has a negative

showed that formaldehyde exposure altered the heart rate [PMID: 3735804], blood pressure [PMID:

effect was found to be mediated by a sympathetic nerve activity (PMID: 3735804). Additionally,
subacute and subchronic inhalation of formaldehyde was associated with cardiac oxidative stress, and
consequently a cardic cells damage (PMID: 16716041). With regards to platelets, it was shown that
the total platelet count significantly increased in mice exposed to formaldehyde gas for 2 weeks (
PMID: 24040369 ); the potential negative consequence of this effect should be considered in the
context of the importance of platelets in maintaining hemostasis, and their role in thrombotic
disorders. As for acetaldehyde, elevated blood pressure and heart rate were reported in animals
following inhalation of variable doses, which could be due to its sympathomimetic effect (PMID:

Another way the party has deviated from traditional conservative principles is through education. In

graduated from private schools which does make the overview of the party seem very elitist but, its
policies and support for scholarship programmes seem to challenge this idea and show that perhaps
the conservative party has changed from that traditional view.
Another thing that shows that the conservative party has stuck to its traditional principles is the fact
that the party is still very traditionalist. The conservative party has always been very traditionalist in
its views and in many ways it still is today, little or no comment is made on social issues such as gay

How Disney Has Changed Their Perception Of Their Business...
When people think of Disney, the think of living in a fairytale and a day they will never forget,
however there are many factors that Disney has to consider for this to be true. Disney has to do
analysis including numerous factors before make their enormous financial decisions. Over their course
in business, Disney has made several costly mistakes that changed their perception of their business
ideas. When Disney decides to build a new location they must take every factor into consideration.
Even when they believe they have covered all the bases, in reality there is no way to be completely
sure in how things will turn out in the future. One example is EuroDisney and their poor performance.
Disney initially believed they built a true masterpiece. They believed the new location would be just
like the Tokyo park; which was a rare example. Furthermore, Disney was over optimistic in how
successful their locations could be compared to Tokyo. However, they were sadly mistaken in reality.
Their creation of EuroDisney was a huge flop, contrary to the extensive research they left out key
factors that destroyed their success. They disregarded key factors such as competition, cultural
differences and environment; these factors were key to their failure. If Disney would have came in
with a different mindset, these factors would have been taken into consideration. As a result, there
would have been gigantic changes in their marketing strategy. Furthermore there were similar

Analyze the Ways in Which Techonology, Government Policy,...
In the period 1865 1900, technology, government policy, and economic conditions all changed
American agriculture a great deal. New farming machinery had a large role in the late 19th century,
giving farmers the opportunity to produce many more crops than they had ever been able to
previously. The railroads had an enormous influence on agriculture. They were able to charge the
farmers large fees, expenses that farmers barely had enough to cover, in order to transport their goods
throughout the expansive country. The booming industry also changed American agriculture, creating
monopolies and gaining incredible wealth with which the farmers simply could not compete.
Economically, the monetary policy along with the steadily dropping prices of ... Show more content

Document C shows how the farmers eventually got prices to lower in Illinois, although not all states
were as successful in putting restrictions or limits on the prices. The Supreme Court used the 14th
amendment to favor the large industries and monopolies, like the railroad. In most cases it was ruled
that profits (even excess ones) are a property right and states cannot regulate these profits because it
goes against due process and equal protection under the law. These rulings made it very hard for
individual states to interfere and put any limitations on these high prices. One of the most heated
debates of the time period was over the gold standard monetary policy. In Document E the crop lien
system or sharecropping is demonstrated. It shows how the farmers are profiting little or no money at
all by the 1880 s, however the government, along with the wealthier citizens, were trying to
implement a gold standard, eliminating silver currency altogether and creating some deflation. The
farmers, most of whom were already in debt, advocated strongly against this monetary policy. They
were in favor of a bimetallistic system. The Farmer s were already indebted to the people they leased
their land from, and if there was a monetary policy, the amount of money they owed would remain the
same, however the value of that money would increase. Document J is a clear opposition to the
monetary policy by the farmers. Through the fight

Cardiovascular Disease In Men
Although men had ruled the earth for years together, the male gender is highly susceptible so far heart
disease is concerned . More men are living with and dying of Coronary Heart Disesse (CHD) than
women and have more hospital discharges for Cardiovascular disease ( CVD ) and CHD. The
prevalence of CHD is higher in men within each age stratum until after 75 years of age, which may
contribute to the perception that heart disease is a man s disease.
The classic risk factors for CVD are the same in women and men, but there are gender differences in
the prevalence of risk factors. Dr Bernadine Healy first introduced the concept of the Yentl syndrome
in 1991, suggesting gender bias in the management of CHD.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD ) prevention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Decreased sexual activity and function are common in patients with CVD and are often interrelated to
anxiety and depression. The Stockholm Heart Epidemiology Programme (SHEEP) study of post MI
patients (50% women) found that those who were sedentary had a higher risk of MI with sexual
activity (relative risk 4.4) than did those who were physically active (relative risk 0.7). Sexual activity
is reasonable for patients who can exercise ≥3 to 5 METS without angina, excessive dyspnea,
ischemic ST segment changes, cyanosis, hypotension, or arrhythmia (Class IIa; Level of Evidence C).
In 2005, the Princeton Conference suggested that post MI patients who had undergone successful
coronary revascularization or had a treadmill test without ischemia could resume sexual activity 3 to 4
weeks after MI. CABG and most other heart surgeries (eg, valve repair/replacement) are commonly
performed through a median sternotomy, it is generally recommended that sexual activity be delayed
for 6 to 8 weeks after CABG and non coronary open heart

Objective Racism
Objective Racism:
An essay on how segregation affected the USA, and its lingering effect on the nation
The United States of America is one of the best countries in the world. The country considers its start
as a nation to be 1776, and since then, America has stood for freedom all around the world. The USA
has had military supremacy for years; considered one of the only superpowers in the world currently.
Most importantly, however, is that it is a melting pot of different ethnic groups and cultures. Sadly,
most places in America do not contain this important standard of no prejudice. After the Plessy v.
Ferguson case, subtle racism became more abundant throughout the south, and although the
government resolved main problem in the 60 s, racism still abides on both ends today. In 1863,
President Abraham Lincoln issued the emancipation proclamation. This act freed thousands of slaves,
and enacted the abolition of slavery after the north won the Civil War. In turn, legislation passed many
amendments prohibiting any discrimination of blacks. In 1883, the Supreme Court ruled against this
amendment, they ruled that, The 14th Amendment did not give Congress authority to prevent
discrimination by private individuals. So when the states got the power to decide, most states decided
to pass laws known as Jim Crow laws. These laws segregated blacks and whites in almost all ways of
life, from schools to railroad carts. In 1892, Homer Plessy, a mixed man, sat in a white

Little Ricky Research Paper
Little Ricky goes to the Zoo. Once upon a time there was a little boy named Ricky. Ricky lived in a
big city called San Francisco with his mommy and daddy. The house they lived in was in an area
called The Sunset. It was near the Zoo and not far from the beach and the Pacific Ocean. Little Ricky
had a brother and sister. They were both older than Ricky and went to school during the weekdays.
Little Ricky s daddy worked in store selling paint with his father. That meant that little Ricky was
home all with his mommy. One day Little Ricky s Mommy said Ricky, do you want to go to the Zoo
with me today? Little Ricky got so excited that he jumped up and down and said Oh, yes Mommy,
YES! So, little Ricky s mommy made lunch and packed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He saw the trees and shrubbery and grass planted on the ground. He saw the Ivy growing up the wall.
They walked to the big gate at the front of the Zoo and to the ticket booth. Little Ricky s daddy paid
for their tickets and they walked through a turnstile to go into the zoo. Little Ricky saw the big
building where the workers had their offices and where the gift shop was to his right. He saw the
Carousel with horses and fairytale animals that moved up and down as the Carousel spun around for
the children to ride on. Ricky was still very excited about the big old steam locomotive that was
parked on railroad tracks in a big sandy lot next to a bunch of swings and play equipment. But his
daddy said Ricky, you spent all day yesterday playing on the steam engine. You forgot all about the
Lions, and Tigers, and Bears. You forgot about the Monkeys on Monkey Island in a lake in the center
of the Zoo. You forgot about all the birds, and the Black tailed Prairie Dog, the Lemurs, the Seals, the
Sea Lions. You even forgot all about the Big Tortoise, and all the

Through the various advances and acquiescence s within the fashion industry, a young woman living on a farm in Montana could look just like the top socialite in the New York City inner circle. The advent of a more freeing clothing style and high fashion runway shows allowed for the feverish replication of the season s top designs, which in turn metamorphosed into a mass production of similar designs. To add to the high fashion deception, the creation of synthetic jewelry created an epic era of costume jewelry, an indiscernible alternative to real gems. It may have seemed like all the women were on a equal playing field by the end of the 1920 s, but they may not have been. As previously mentioned, women were trying to pass off fake jewelry as real to fit in with the upper crowd. The upper class women were losing their dominance in the fashion world and it was evident they were not happy. Style leagues that would dictate fashion by elected officials began to pop up in New York City. It seemed that if they could not rule fashion by purchasing uncopied frocks, they would create policies and dictate the in designs and accessories themselves ( Society Women Form Style League 64). Taking hold of the industry, the elected officials would cooperate with manufacturers, designers, fashion artists and women who are socially and professionally chic ( Society Women Form Style League 64). This was without a doubt the official beginning of what we now call the group of women who run behind the name, fashion police. • 6. Literature Formalism The Hershey Bar of Criticism Formalism means a lot of different things to a lot of different people and refers to many different types of critical work and analysis. But to make a complicated matter simple, we can say pretty safely that formalism refers to critics or criticism that, first and foremost, emphasize the form or structure of a work of art and assume that nothing in that form or structure is really accidental or insignificant. That is, the formal elements in a work of art all mean something, in relation to one another and to us. By looking at the architecture of art how it is constructed, what its elements are, how they fit together, why they are there, and where they lead formalism assumes that we will make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, what we mean by form can range widely not just between different works of art but within a single work of art as well. For example, when examining a literary text, we may talk about plot as a formal element by discussing its characters and their actions, and then we may focus on characters and actions as formal elements by analyzing voice and motivation. In turn, we may then decide to study voice and motivation as formal elements by considering things like word choice, feeling, or theme. And so on and so on. Plot, character, action, voice, motivation, feelings, themes when and where does a formalist analysis begin, and where does it end? Some answer this question by saying it ends just before it reaches the real world. Formalist critics are sometimes thought to ignore the real world in favor of the representational world that the work of art creates, looking only at its intricate internal structures and landscapes. But formalist analyses often go hand in hand with different types of criticism or concerns. For example, studying how and when certain characters are introduced into a plot might lead to claims that sound more like feminist criticism than formalist criticism. Similarly, someone studying those thumb prints on the vase might end up asking us to rethink a few of our historical or anthropological assumptions about a particular group of people who worked and played within a particular cultural context. The use of tin, copper, silver, and gold were used by them as well. These metals were readily available to the Minoan and Mycenaean people in mines and deposits in the Mediterranean basin. Except for tin which came from the British Isles. The weapons of choice for the Minoan and Mycenaean people were daggers, swords, spears, and javelins. These weapons allowed them to defend themselves any way possible. Defending themselves with weapons were not the only things they created with these metals. The Minoan and Mycenaean people created body armor such as shields, helmets, and leg and arm coverings. The body armor was just as important as the weapons. • 11. Malware Analysis And Detection Techniques MALWARE ANALYSIS/DETECTION TECHNIQUES Sikorski Honig (2012), explain the fact that when carrying out malware analysis and detection, only the malware executable is present, which is usually not in natural language form. A variety of tools and techniques need to be employed to ensure that the underlying information is revealed. Two basic approaches to malware analysis and detection include: static analysis (observing the malware without running it), and dynamic analysis (running the malware). They can be done either in the basic form or more advanced ways. Static Analysis In the basic form, static analysis involves carefully observing the executable file without looking at the actual commands or instructions. This is done to ascertain that a file is indeed malicious, give information about its functions, and occasionally give information that will enable one produce simple network signatures. This process is straightforward and can be performed quickly, but in most cases, it is not effective when dealing with sophisticated malware, and may miss significant behaviours. An example of static analysis is the use of antivirus software such as AVG for malware analysis. Unique identifiers called hashes can also be used to identify malware in static analysis. Dynamic Analysis In the basic form, dynamic analysis techniques involve both running the malware code and examining its behaviour on the system or network so as to remove the infection, derive effective signatures, or ... • 12. Salt Solution Concentrations And Water On The Mass Of... The Effect of Salt Solution Concentrations and Water On the Mass of Potatoes Research Question What happens to the mass of the diced potatoes when submerged in varying concentrations of salt solutions and water in 10 minute intervals? This experiment will compare the mass of the diced potatoes submerged in distilled water, 1% salt solution, 5% salt solution, and 10% salt solution respectively in 10 minute intervals. Background Information Potatoes first originated in South America and were later introduced to Europe by Spanish explorers. Now, potatoes have become an important staple food item to have in the kitchen. They are packed with more energy than any other vegetable. A potato is made of potassium, vitamin C, fiber, starch, water, and fat. The concentration of each component is as follows: 18% starch, 78% water, 2 5%protein, and 1% fat. Hypothesis If the concentration of the salt solution increases then, its mass will decrease. This is because water molecules move from a higher concentration to a lower concentration in a process called osmosis. Potatoes are made of mostly water and because of the salt solution concentration the water molecules in the potato will move out of it. The higher the concentration, the more water molecules move out of the potato. Variables The independent variable is the salt solution concentration. The dependant variable is the mass of the potato. The control variable is the distilled water. Control of Variables Another controlled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The effects of the Boston Tea Party have thrived throughout America ever since. The Boston Tea Party was a significant event in U.S. history, largely because of tea s importance at that time, the acts of rebellion that occurred during the tea party, and the impacts they had on shaping today s society. Carp stated that around the early 1580 s, Europeans adopted tea for the first time.Coffee and chocolate were also introduced to Europe around this time. These beverages did not make an impact right away because the taste was very bitter. The beverages started to boom once sugar was added. The plant, camelia sinensis, produces all pure tea. All the tea that Americans and Europeans consumed came from Chinese soil until the nineteenth. Ever since, India, has the most well known varieties of tea. The East India Company was the primary exporter of tea to the colonies. Before the Boston Tea Party, they stood for 3% of all goods sent to the colonies from England. They exported an estimated 70,000 pounds (currency in U.K.) of tea a year. A merchant once estimated that each American drank over two pounds of tea a year! Tea was consumed in households everywhere. Tea became a necessity along with sugar and tobacco. Tea was on the rise, so Americans spent their hard earned money on accessories that complimented their tea. In 1767, British Parliament ... • 15. The Pros And Cons Of Single Parents I was raised in a single parent household for much of my life. I can say that children who are raised in a single family home have been looked at as being different for many years. Being raised by only one parent seems hard or even impossible to many, yet over time it has become more of the norm. Throughout society today, many children have grown up to become mentally stable and successful whether they had one or two parents to help navigate them on the road of life. Where the problem lies is in the difference of children raised by single parents versus children raised by both a mother and a father. This topic has become a very thought provoking argument with various questions being asked such as; Does a child need both parents? Should the government provide help or services for single parents? What role do step parents and step siblings play? People need to understand that to properly raise a child, they should not focus on the structure of the family, but should be focused on the values and processes that are taught while their children grow and mature. Children of a single parent household can continually grow and excel just as well as children with a two parent household. Some people think that children can only grow to their full potential by being raised by both a mother and a father. For one parent to raise a child by themselves, it can be difficult for several reasons. A single parent must work full time or with today s job market, work numerous part time jobs ... The equivalent would be like placing a human under house arrest. The more dangerous animals like lions and tigers are also given their own large enclosures and people can view them from behind a glass screen. • 17. Pros And Cons Of A Representative Democracy Stauffenberg, Griffin Analytical Paper #1 Take it all the way back to when the constitution was being written. The founding fathers had a big choice to make; did they establish a direct democracy or a representative democracy? They had to weigh the pros and cons of each and they ended up deciding on a representative democracy. In this paper I will tell you why they made things the way they did and certain compromises they made along the way. Some of the major features in a direct democracy are that the people get to directly elect things such as the president or for laws to be passed or not. The big advantages of a direct democracy are that voting takes much less time as it is just a vote among all the citizens, people see the the changes they voted for take effect faster, and people feel like their vote is valued and powerful. The downsides to a direct democracy are that sometimes the popular vote isn t always the right vote and people realize that after it s too late to change what they did. Around the time of the American Revolution the majority of people were considered, too uneducated to govern themselves (Schmidt, et al, 5). When our constitution was being written many of the founding fathers did not believe that the common people were ready to govern themselves, so they set up a representative democracy instead of a direct democracy. James Madison thought that if we did implement a direct democracy it would, deteriorate into mob rule (Schmidt,et al, 5). A major ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The knighting and military victories fought by his father allowed for the Scot family to become members of Parliament. Discoverie of Witchcraft was published in 1584. During this period in English history, accusations of witchcraft were rampant. People were so cynical about random events such as sickness and accidents. Scapegoats seemed to be a favorable option for the public. Many innocent people, mainly older women, were suspected as the prime offenders of many of the mysterious events that occurred. These victims were tried and executed for their crimes . Purpose of Discoverie of Witchcraft The purpose of this passage was to persuade the clergy and public to stop persecuting innocent people for crimes that could not be proven. Scot, during his lifetime, had seen many witch trials and believed that witchcraft, in the way the public believed it worked, was impossible. It has made me realize just how brutal and twisted humanity is as a species. All I ever wanted was to fit in and live a happy life amongst humanity, but I was cast out and rejected, forced to endure an existence of loneliness and insignificance, all because the females of the human species were incapable of seeing the value in me. This is the story of how I, Elliot Rodger, came to be. This is the story of my entire life. It is a dark story of sadness, anger, and hatred. It is a story of a war against cruel injustice...This tragedy did not have to happen. I didn t want things to turn out this way, but humanity forced my hand, and this story will explain why (Blum, Jaworski, 2016, p. 408). It is like second nature to me especially because my family and friends are the same way. After learning about this law and discussing it I noticed how much I actually do it. It further describes how the Europeans came to the New World and committed genocide against the Native Americans in order to get land and gold from them, which displayed the cruelty and greed of the European explorers coming to the Americas. Zinn believes that the discrimination and mistreatment of women during the Colonial time period was the leading cause of the first movements of women s rights in America. He believes that communication devices do not allow one to finish a conversation and become satisfied with it. The Importance Of High School Student Athletes Although some may believe that high school student athletes who do poorly in their academic courses should still be able to participate in athletic programs, I do not agree. It allows students who are capable of performing well in the classroom environment to feel as if it is not necessary to do so, for most athletes, high school sports will be as far as they will go, and furthermore the idea that sports are an extra curricular rather than a privilege has been lost. The stereotype that all athletes, specifically football players and cheerleaders, are all dumb jocks, is a very popular belief. However, this is of course not true for everyone, but some of these athletes may use this as an excuse to under preform since they believe that less is expected of them to begin with. In most cases, for any student, the amount of effort you put in will be what you receive back. If teachers in school cut slack for athletes just so the star player is able to play Friday nights, then students will never feel like they need to try because their grades are just handed to them. Athletes are expected to give 110% on the field or court, so why wouldn t the same be expected inside the classroom? While people could argue that the player is an important aspect to the team, then it should be enforced for them to pass on their own with, for example, 70 s and above. With less expected of them, they will lose the opportunity of learning the value of having a strong work ethic. Additionally, when their coaches double as their core class teachers, rules that are set in place for no pass, no play are bound to be broken. Breaking these rules only hurts the students in the long run. For most of these athletes, high school sports will be the finish line. But, if all of their time is spent focusing on sports rather than academics, when the time is up and reality sets in, they are not going to be prepared. By coaches, teachers or even principals allowing these athletes to breeze by without applying themselves or working hard, it is almost equivalent to setting them up for failure. So much time will go by wasting away on something that is fun for four short years while they could be setting out to achieve bigger and better things. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is important to address why they are perceived to be harmful, if they actually are, and how they can be improved for the future, or if they should be eliminated. The use of pipelines date back as far as 500BC in China. In those times, the pipelines were made of bamboo, used to separate the salt from the sea water. The United States did not adopt these until much later. Edwin L. Drake drilled his first commercial oil well in the United States near the city Titusville in Pennsylvania; the oil which they nicknamed rock oil was then used as a less expensive alternative to whale oil. It was used as lubricant and as fuel for lamps. It was not long after this that it was realized they would need a more cost effective way of transporting the oil from place to place. At the time, Teamsters were using horses and wagons to get the oil to the markets; one barrel going five miles costed more than the entire rail charged to go to New York City. For that reason, the pipeline was created. The first pipelines were nothing special; they were short and sometimes made of wood. With their growing popularity into the 1860s, the quality control followed over the pipe manufacturing, switching from wrought iron to steal. (Pipeline 101, n.d.) Coming into the twenty first century, the pipeline has still been playing a key role in the oil industry. Given, its importance to the oil industry it is important to understand how ... However, the fact remains that the vast majority of Cameron s conservatives graduated from private schools which does make the overview of the party seem very elitist but, its policies and support for scholarship programmes seem to challenge this idea and show that perhaps the conservative party has changed from that traditional view. The conservative party has always been very traditionalist in its views and in many ways it still is today, little or no comment is made on social issues such as gay adoption, the party ... One example is EuroDisney and their poor performance. Disney initially believed they built a true masterpiece. • 43. Analyze the Ways in Which Techonology, Government Policy,... In the period 1865 1900, technology, government policy, and economic conditions all changed American agriculture a great deal. New farming machinery had a large role in the late 19th century, giving farmers the opportunity to produce many more crops than they had ever been able to previously. The railroads had an enormous influence on agriculture. They were able to charge the farmers large fees, expenses that farmers barely had enough to cover, in order to transport their goods throughout the expansive country. The booming industry also changed American agriculture, creating monopolies and gaining incredible wealth with which the farmers simply could not compete. Economically, the monetary policy along with the steadily dropping prices of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Document C shows how the farmers eventually got prices to lower in Illinois, although not all states were as successful in putting restrictions or limits on the prices. The Supreme Court used the 14th amendment to favor the large industries and monopolies, like the railroad. In most cases it was ruled that profits (even excess ones) are a property right and states cannot regulate these profits because it goes against due process and equal protection under the law. These rulings made it very hard for individual states to interfere and put any limitations on these high prices. One of the most heated debates of the time period was over the gold standard monetary policy. In Document E the crop lien system or sharecropping is demonstrated. It shows how the farmers are profiting little or no money at all by the 1880 s, however the government, along with the wealthier citizens, were trying to implement a gold standard, eliminating silver currency altogether and creating some deflation. The farmers, most of whom were already in debt, advocated strongly against this monetary policy. They were in favor of a bimetallistic system. The Farmer s were already indebted to the people they leased their land from, and if there was a monetary policy, the amount of money they owed would remain the same, however the value of that money would increase. Document J is a clear opposition to the monetary policy by the farmers. Through the fight ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The prevalence of CHD is higher in men within each age stratum until after 75 years of age, which may contribute to the perception that heart disease is a man s disease. The classic risk factors for CVD are the same in women and men, but there are gender differences in the prevalence of risk factors. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Decreased sexual activity and function are common in patients with CVD and are often interrelated to anxiety and depression. The Stockholm Heart Epidemiology Programme (SHEEP) study of post MI patients (50% women) found that those who were sedentary had a higher risk of MI with sexual activity (relative risk 4.4) than did those who were physically active (relative risk 0.7). Sexual activity is reasonable for patients who can exercise ≥3 to 5 METS without angina, excessive dyspnea, ischemic ST segment changes, cyanosis, hypotension, or arrhythmia (Class IIa; Level of Evidence C). In 2005, the Princeton Conference suggested that post MI patients who had undergone successful coronary revascularization or had a treadmill test without ischemia could resume sexual activity 3 to 4 weeks after MI. CABG and most other heart surgeries (eg, valve repair/replacement) are commonly performed through a median sternotomy, it is generally recommended that sexual activity be delayed for 6 to 8 weeks after CABG and non coronary open heart ... • 45. Objective Racism Objective Racism: An essay on how segregation affected the USA, and its lingering effect on the nation The United States of America is one of the best countries in the world. The country considers its start as a nation to be 1776, and since then, America has stood for freedom all around the world. The USA has had military supremacy for years; considered one of the only superpowers in the world currently. Most importantly, however, is that it is a melting pot of different ethnic groups and cultures. Sadly, most places in America do not contain this important standard of no prejudice. After the Plessy v. Ferguson case, subtle racism became more abundant throughout the south, and although the government resolved main problem in the 60 s, racism still abides on both ends today. In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued the emancipation proclamation. This act freed thousands of slaves, and enacted the abolition of slavery after the north won the Civil War. In turn, legislation passed many amendments prohibiting any discrimination of blacks. In 1883, the Supreme Court ruled against this amendment, they ruled that, The 14th Amendment did not give Congress authority to prevent discrimination by private individuals. So when the states got the power to decide, most states decided to pass laws known as Jim Crow laws. These laws segregated blacks and whites in almost all ways of life, from schools to railroad carts. In 1892, Homer Plessy, a mixed man, sat in a white ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
