3. Feedback
I have needed to make improvements to my Production plan as I
was missing this on my presentation according to my witness
statement. I have now included this in the Prezi as shown by the
screen grab. This is a detailed plan and as I have included it
people who are watching the presentation will know more about
how the magazine is going to be made and what the plan is
making it. This will make them more likely to invest in my
magazine if they know what is going to happen and what there
money is going towards.

4. I have also made improvements to my front
cover in Photoshop as my witness statement has
also suggested and I have then changed it on
Facebook. This is shown in the screen grab. This
has made my front cover more professional so
my presentation will look better as what I am
showing to potential investors in of high quality
thus they will be more willing to invest.

5. I have also made improvements as
suggested on the witness statement that I
should improve John’s skin tone with the
Glamour skin process, I did this using the
burn tool which creates a darker tone on
johns skin which I was able to run over
john which I have done. This has reduced
the look of spots and imperfection on his
skin so it makes him look better. The burn
tool has made him looked tanned, which
suits the stereotypical DJ as they are
usually seen in the hot countries.

6. Feedback
I also gain feedback from my mother to which I showed
her the prezi and presented it to her. She suggested that I
could have improved in my explanation of the social
media and email marketing, as on the prezi I just gave the
two headings. I could have improved by including screen
shots of a sample email which I could have sent to a
potential consumer. I could have also shown the other
social media websites which I mentioned which I was
going to use. These were twitter and Instagram.

7. Presentation improvements
After reviewing my presentation from the recorded video
and from the advice given to me on the witness statement,
I know that I mustn’t rely too heavily on the script. I should
have looked up at the audience more than I did as I will do
next time because it makes the presentation more
engaging and by keeping the audiences attention it’ll be
easier to present my magazine.
Looking at the audience makes the presentation more
interesting as I would be talking to the audience instead of
the floor.
Another improvement would be to speak louder and
clearer as I saw that why was presenting that people may
have found it difficult to hear what I was saying as the
room I was presenting in was quite big.
I would have also liked to use more hand jesters while
presenting and smile more as I would have looked nervous
and my making hand jesters it would have made the
presentation more engaging as being still made the
presentation static and more effort to people to listen to
me

8. Production Plan
• Data and Time scale – the managers from all the departments will come together to create a
pre-production plan. They will then plan this on a timescale where deadlines will be set and
everything will be organised around when they have to be completed. When the content
starts to be produced the pre-production has finished and the production begins. I may make
a time line on excel to plan and make it clearer what its going to happen. The staff will be
paid in total £82,000 annually. The office rent will have to be paid at the start of the month
which will be £37.25 per month. The marketing budget will be £5,000 for the month and the
website will be a no off cost of £6,000. All the budgets will be discussed at the very beginning
as it is abased upon last issues sales.
• There will then be a content plan for all the pages. This helps to decide where they will
decide what topics the magazine will cover and everything which the new issue is going to
include. The people involved in this will be all the members of the editorial board to make
sure the plan is correct.
• A detailed plan is then made for each story which will feature in the magazine. The type of
story will be decided and if it will be in the from of an interview, news story, features etc. One
of these will be decided which will put across the story to the best to the audience. A mock
up design is also created so a graphic designer will be used to create this which will probably
need a computer as there equipment. A detailed description will be given to the editor by the
author on what they are going to write about. At this time when the authors are writing and
gathering information for there story a budget from the pre-production plan will be allocated
to each journalist for them to spend on, travel, photos, interviews etc. They may also need to
be provided with a photographer to take photos and a computer to write there story.

9. • The next stage after all the stories and articles have been written
and the photographs have been taken it will be added to the
magazine pages by a graphic designer. They will need to use
designing software such as; Photoshop which will be used
manipulate the photos, Adobe InDesign will design the page layout
and if the magazine will be put onto a website they may need to
use Adobe Dreamweaver to design the whole website. A mac will
be the best computer to use as they have very good software for
editing. All this software will cost around £57.16 per month. Which
for my magazine would be per issue. After the magazine had been
bought together into a complete copy the editors will look through
it to make sure that’s what they want and the magazine will be
proof read to make sure that there are no spelling or grammar
problems. Then the magazine will start to be mass produced ready
for release. To make 15,000 copies as my magazine is doing it’ll cost
£8,529.43. For distributing the magazine online will only cost £720.
• The launch data will be on the Monday of the 4th week of every
month this makes it easier to plan each issue as they will have a
similar plan layout to the previous months and issues.

10. Ethical issues
Mixmag were put into an ethical issue as in one issue
of their magazine they asked people ‘What drugs
have you taken?’. This survey asked people about
what illegal drugs do they take. This survey was
conducted in the UK and America people between
the ages of 18 – 25. This is a ethical issue as people
who read the magazine who don’t take drugs might
feel like that they need to do it as it is mentioned in
their magazine. This could mean that Mixmag looks
like they promote the use of illegal drugs and this
could be offensive material to some people which
would need to be censored in a magazine with a
target audience of young readers.
As a result of this I would need to as a magazine
make sure the content which I wrote about was
ethically allowed and wouldn’t encourage
controversial issues like if taking drugs are good. So,
in my magazine interview with John Allen I didn’t
include anything which involved controversy,
especially not drugs as it has an influence on
younger people which might think about taking
drugs if it is promoted as positive in my magazine.

11. Legal Issues relevant to my magazine
My magazine would have to make sure we had a copyright license on our magazine to
protect our original content from being copied. The CLA is an organisations which I
would use to help me copyright my magazine. Under the Designs and Patent Act 1988
it authorises me the publisher to issue a collective licences which allows people to
copy from my magazine within certain limits and subjects to certain exclusions. This
means that some of my content can be can be copied e.g. sentences but if someone
would copy the whole of my magazine to sell themselves this would breach the
copyright license.
Also, the content of my magazine must meet with the Editor’s Codes of Practice. This
means that I must only put the truth into my magazine and not bend and twist
information to make it seem like a person is saying something else, so with my
interview with John Allen I must make sure that I have written what he intended to
mean.
The Editors code of Practice also includes Privacy, opportunity to reply, harassment
and lots more. To make sure that my magazine doesn’t breach any of these rules at
the end of production and ideally throughout the content will be checked throughout
production.

14. Copy Right
A trade mark must be in a obvious place when it is placed
on my magazine. So I am going to place it on my front
cover page at the bottom left where other information
like the date, issue and price of the magazine is going to
be. The trade mark symbol must be ‘©’. The basic layout
of the what the copyright should look like is - ‘Copyright
© 2015 [COPYRIGHT OWNER’S NAME]. All Rights
Reserved.’ The year must be correct including the name
of the owner which would be my publisher’s name

When I have copyrighted my magazine I will now own the
intellectual property which I or the company have
created.

15. IP – Intellectual Property
This is a law which protects peoples creations
for example the creation of my magazine. This
includes patterns, copyright and trademarks.
This isn’t the idea alone but a physical creation.
By protecting my magazine it will make it easier
to take legal action against anyone which copies
or steals it. For my magazine it will include;
name, logo, what I write and images.

16. IPSO formally PCC
• The IPSO is a business who regulate newspapers and magazines in
the UK. They monitor and preserve the Editor’s Code of Practice
and resolve breaches in the Code by handling complaints about
this. They do this to maintain and enhance freedom and authority
of the press.
• For my magazine they would inform me if my magazine had gotten
any complaints with its content and if someone found the content
offensive. As a magazine I would have to reply to the complaints
and defend what the my magazine has included if any one
challenges it.

17. Calendar Events
• I am going to release my magazine every month as my magazine will try
and compete with Mixmags which is already established company. I will
do this as we have a similar audience and hopefully their readers will also
see that my magazine is on shelves and want to buy my magazine over
Mixmags as it is cheaper.
• My magazine is aimed to release material about upcoming festivals and
events so there will be articles discussing new events and if they are going
to be good or not.
• I have capitalized on this by including whole articles to the topic of past
and current festival and clubs reviews. I will also include adverts for these
but apart from that I won’t be adding anything else about the topic as I
don’t want to over load the reader with review and advertisement as it
will make the magazine too commercial and not interesting.
• Furthermore, I also won’t be including any content about seasonal events
like Christmas as my reader want to know about upcoming festivals as the
magazine doesn’t have any relation to seasonal events which aren’t
related to the dance and clubbing music genre.
