The Impact Of Technology And Its Impact On The World
As the time goes on, technology becomes more popular and essential for most people s daily life.
Technology also becomes more dominant in every aspects on life such as working, studying, and even
doing housework. It has radically changed the way human interacts with the world; for instance,
people only communicated in person or through postal mails decades ago, and technology helped
changing the traditional communication style into a faster one through texting and instant messaging.
There are three perspectives on the impact of technology to humanity. First perspective is about its
positive contributions to the society for the past few years. It has shorten many time consuming tasks
that made us have scratched our heads when thinking about them. Second perspective is about some
cons of relying on technology too much such as becoming more lazy and lacking of motivation of
doing things as well as disconnecting from reality and real people. The third perspective is about its
uses for some people in developing countries. Technology does not help them much since these people
do not have enough money to afford it. Therefore, its prohibited cost makes itself inaccessible in some
countries. Technology actually has made life better but relying on its automatic nature too much can
lead to being enslaved for it. First of all, I fully agree on the first perspective that technology has
positively contributed a lot to the society. It is growing rapidly in the recent years. That means

Television, an escape to a more appealing reality than what we ourselves deal with daily. It is far
easier to live out one s dreams through a television screen than to create something for ourselves,
those in the television business know this well. From finding love in some cheesy romantic comedy to
indulging in shows for a good laugh, we are brainwashed into believing the messages conveyed to fit
the norm . Shows that are directly connected to American culture would be adult animated comedies.
Adult cartoons, such as: The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad!, King of the Hill, and South Park,
are being consumed by younger audiences; these shows contain stereotypes of sex, race, sexual
orientation, religion, etc. and inappropriate contents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some shows, like South Park and The Simpsons, make us think logically about a situation we might
otherwise overlook, even if it is outlandish in context. Numerous sociological studies done on people
after watching The Simpsons had a positive effect. South Park watchers mentioned wanting to get
involved with controversial topics. Stereotypes depicted by these shows have a negative impact; but
occasionally, can help us to understand what is right and wrong. Sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation,
gender orientation, age, religion, etc. are all stereotypes projected in these shows at one time or
another. The Simpsons often makes the audience learn from the character s mistakes with these
stereotypes. The messages presented by these shows have an unrealistic expectation for reality. Almost
all the shows project a middle class, heterosexual couple with their children, and characters of
Caucasian race, apart from the Simpsons family who are yellow. Most of the violent/inappropriate
actions in the shows will go without consequences. On many occasions, The Simpsons has exhibited
child abuse through the actions of Homer Simpson to his son, Bart (Pesce). Men are projected to be
the main bread winner, while the wives are meant to care for the

Introduction
Do consumers have a connection with their shampoo brand? To find out, we interviewed four
individuals on their choices, associations, and purchasing decisions when it came to shampoo. The
aim of this research was to learn how consumer product relationships develop and relate to future
purchasing decisions with mundane products less than five pounds. From the interviewers, we
discovered how consumers relate to shampoo, their purchasing habits, price ... Show more content on

Our first recommendation is the Point System , although consumers tend to buy the same shampoo
brand for many years, they are still price sensitive and eager to make use of any potential offers or
discounts. We therefore suggest that shampoo marketers respond to this price sensitivity by offering
discounts to repeat users. Our final recommendation for shampoo marketing managers is Brand
Ambassadors , in our interviews we found that our subjects have been using the same brand for years
and that most of them started using the brand based on observing a member of their reference group
e.g. a family member. We therefore believe that marketers should highlight these two points by using
brand ambassadors.
Conclusion Through our interviews we aimed to understand the consumer product relationship
between individuals and their shampoo brand. As a group we were surprised by the level of brand
loyalty individuals have towards their shampoo. A successful marketing campaign should therefore
not only take into account the consumer decision making process but also the consumer product
relationship. As it is through exploiting and analyzing this relationship that marketers can capture new
customers and retain old customers. Marketing managers should not underestimate the power of the
consumer product relationship even for something as mundane and seemingly unimportant as

China After The Reform Area
Term Paper In chapter fifteen of our textbook, Understanding the Political World, it classifies China as
a transitional developed country. More specifically, China is defined as one of the five BRICS
countries. These countries consist of; Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The BRICS
countries do not share a global region, political systems, or economic systems. The textbook argues
that the three main goals of these countries are prosperity, stability, and security. In a 2015 article,
published in the Journal of Democracy, written by Carl Minzner, entitled China After the Reform
Area, Minzner articulates many of the same ideas about China that Danziger and Smith put forward in
the textbook about all of the BRICS countries. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
438) In chapter 15 of Understanding the Political World, the authors outline the main goals of the
BRICS countries. They believe that there are three major items on the agenda of each of the BRICS
countries. The first of which is prosperity, followed by stability, and last security. As these ideas relate
specifically to China, Danziger and Smith do not say much as to how China looks to become a more
prosperous country. The comment that they do make pertains to how China was able to maintain an
average growth of just over 10% annually in the economy from 1989 to 2010. They say, this has been
particularly driven by the export of manufactured goods at prices that are highly competitive in the
global marketplace. (Danziger Smith, pg. 437) In Minzner s article, he attributes the economic boom
that went on in China to state led investments in roads, airports, and housing (which) had loomed large
as drivers of economic growth. (Minzner, pg. 137) But he then highlights how, after 2010, the growth
rate of China s economy dropped and by 2012 it was at 7.7% and continuing to fall. He gives a
statement that blatantly explains why this took place. Beijing has systematically undercut its own
bottom up reforms. (Minzner, pg. 141) He explains this more in depth, but his main argument is that

External Environment
Introduction Business environment is an element that will affect all the activities of an organization.
Besides, it will bring firms both opportunities and threats because of its uncertainties. Business
environment is uncertain, complex dynamics; organization should apply more flexibility discontinuity
ways to manage them. A firm cannot control the environment because it is unpredictable in its
direction and speed of change, such as interest rates, rate of inflation and exchange rate. Business
environment can classifies in two categories that are internal environment and external environment.

patterns and trends in overall economic activity and world trade; movements in exchange rates,
interest rates and taxation both within particular countries and internationally; fluctuations in capital
markets; broad changes in market demand; industrial trends like increasing industry concentration and
increased mergers and acquisitions activity. All businesses are affected by economical factors
nationally and globally. Whether an economy is in a boom, recession or recovery will also affect
consumer confidence and behavior. A truly global player has to be aware of economic conditions
across all borders and ensure they employ strategies and tactics that their protects their business An

strategy of cutting back on labour costs, and doubling advertising expenditure. The companies?theory

Irish Stereotypes Essay examples
The Irish people have been on the receiving end of many racial stereotypes. When they migrated to
America because of lack of jobs, poor living conditions, and many other reasons they were treated as
the lowest member of the social class. They were given jobs that were thought to be too unsafe for
blacks to carry out because the loss of a slave was an out of pocket expense (Kinsella, 2002). But The
Irish were not only discriminated against in America, but in their own country as well, and England.
And in the book written by Frank McCourt, he really focuses on the Irish stereotypes. But did it affect
Frank when he was growing up, and why were the Irish discriminated so much by the use of these
stereotypes? When Irish families ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Irish were not thought to be good to have in a neighborhood because they were not familiar to
plumbing, etc. So they were forced to live in make shift shanty towns with other Irish immigrants.
When they went to go find employment, the circumstances were much the same as well. The jobs that
required skilled labor were not available to the Irish because they couldn t be trusted. So they mainly
got jobs doing manual unskilled labor, such as working at the docks, where the risk of injury was high.
In Boston, Massachusetts, the center of anti Irish feelings, 295 Irish immigrants were actually sent
back to Britain by the Know Nothing Party for being a drain on the local economy. And in the south,
some Irish were called niggers turned inside out , while black slaves were called smoked Irish (Greely,
1981). This shows that the Irish were not held very highly in the eyes of Americans. But the British
and even their countrymen had their own prejudices against the Irish. Ireland is very Catholic. It was
brought up as a country on Catholicism and the Catholic Church had a very powerful influence in
Southern Ireland. But the north was protestant. And the Catholics in Ireland blamed the North for
everything that went bad and made sure they raised all of their children devout Catholics so that the
Protestants couldn t get them and condemn their souls to hell. When Franks Mother Angela went to go

Patient s Right And Self Determination
Patient s Right to Self Determination This paper will examine how to recognize the extent to which a
culture s structures and values may oppress, marginalize, alienate, create/enhance privilege and power,
and how to recognize and manage personal values in a way that allows professional values to guide
practice. The interaction between the structure of society and culture play an integral role in how
society decides what is normal and/or acceptable. When the structure of society impedes a person s
right to self determination or services provided, it is important to reevaluate our value system. Values
are directly associated with one s belief system, and in turn guides behavior. Values play an integral

This semester I met Mr. X, a twenty six year old African American male who is paralyzed from the
waist down. Mr. X has been in a wheelchair since the age of seventeen and is unable to live alone. He
requires twenty four hour care due to mental health and his physical condition. Mr. X was in an
assisted living facility prior to being admitted to the Behavior Health Pod. He stayed in B Pod for six
weeks then transferred to Cape Fear Hospital for further treatment. He is now ready for discharge and
the staff is having difficulty placing him because the agency he came from refuse to accept him back.
After reviewing Mr. X s chart, it is noted that he came from an assisted living facility but cannot return
due to his abusive behavior and chronic marijuana use. I met with Mr. X to receive a clear picture of
the concerns. He stated he smoked marijuana and refused to stop, it allowed him to escape and
because of his use, he cannot return. He also disclosed that the facility only had older people, was
located in a secluded area surrounded by trees, and he was uncomfortable. After speaking for several
hours, I learned he had been kicked out of many of the assisted living facilities in the surrounding
areas that accepted Medicaid. He stated he told staff he was going to commit suicide and that is how
he ended up in the B Pod. Mr. X s behavior presents a professional ethical dilemma for Cape Fear

Alone Together By Sherry Turrkle Analysis
How many people can tell they live without any technology for their daily lives? Now, people live in
the society where they cannot communicate without technology. In the modern society, a newly
invented technology gets a power to control and lead the trends. According to New York Post, Apple
reported that newly launched iPhone X, which has been sold at the price of $999, sparked a record
quarterly revenue of $88.3 billion and pushed the cost of an average iPhone to $796. That is 15%
above the average price a year earlier (Vega, 2018). Through this short two sentences, it is detected
that how people are enthusiastic about technology s development and transition. As technology has

In her essay, Turkle takes about the use of robots and technologies, and how those have been impacted
the development of human beings. Alone Together can be divided into two parts. The first half of the
book is about the development of social robots and how those robotic technologies are applied in
human life. Turkle shares the results of the research of how robotic toys, such as Furby and
Tamagotchi, affect children and adolescents. Through some examples and historical events of
technology, she explains how the robot has been developed and enhanced for people, especially
younger generation, started to think the robot not much as machine, but more as friends. The
definition of human changed throughout the decades: while human was special because they can
think, after thinking computer had been launched and disseminated, human became special because
they can feel . On the other hand, the second half of the book is all about social networks formed on
the Internet, and how human beings are exposed to the online world. Turkle explores the increasing
dependence on the online world and discusses about how human beings disentangle their lives in the
real world and the online world. She also emphasizes the communication between each other.
Increasing in using digital devices to communicate, people lose personal connections between each
other and are connected through voice; it means that people lose voice to associate with

Comparing The Necklace And Everything That Rises Must...
Like all stories in literature, the writer uses elements, and emphasizes these in great detail to make the
story come to life. When Analyzing two literary short stories there will be some similar traits, that can
be found by identifying, and understanding their literary elements. Two literary text can be used to
find their comparisons in the use of similar traits. Everything That Rises Must Converge and The
Necklace both demonstrate how writers use similar symbols which possesses meaning in themselves,
and similar characters such as Mathilde Loisel and Julian s mother.
Everything That Rises Must Converge it is a short story about a middle aged working women and her
son named Julian. It begins with Julian s mom, who prepares to go to her exercise class to improve her
health, before she left she insisted that her son come with her on the bus because Juliana s mom was
afraid to ride the bus alone, since it has become integrated. As for the son, Julian, he is disdainful
because of her racial intolerance, and feels that he is smarter than his mom. As the story goes on, the
mother is undecided on whether or not to wear the new green hat with purple velvet flaps or take it

EO is frequently used to treat viral infections such as influenza and the common cold. EO is also
regarded to have antimicrobial activity against pathogenic bacteria, therefore it is also used to treat
wounds to prevent infection.
Penicillin G.
Penicillin G. is also known as Benzylpenicillin. It is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections.
Usually Penicillin G is obtained from microbial sources such as Escherichia coli (Cole, 1969). It
works on most Gram positive bacteria, and some Gram negative bacteria.
Gentamicin
Gentamicin is also an antibiotic, like Penicillin, and is used to treat a number of bacterial infections.
Unlike Penicillin, Gentamicin is more effective on Gram negative bacteria, and only works on a
limited number of Gram positive bacteria. It was first used in 1963 as the first clinically useful broad
spectrum antibiotic. (Edson RS, Terrel CL, 1999).
Trigene
Trigene is a disinfectant and was used in the experiment as a positive control.
Sterile water
Sterile water was used in the experiment as a negative control.
Escherichia Coli
Escherichia coli (E. coli) is a pathogenic, Gram negative bacteria, and was used in the experiment to
determine the antimicrobial activity of TTO and EO.
Methods
Choosing reagents
Before the preparation for the experiment could be started, reagents needed to be picked. In the case of
this experiment, the reagents were chosen to be TTO and EO.

This particular article that I enjoy rereading from time to time is called Evangelion, and why Hideaki
Anno hates you. It s a fantastic demonstration of picking piece by piece a man s years spiraling
downhill and how he took it out on a piece of animated fiction. To give you a good idea of how bad
this was, the show was originally aired on a children s timeslot because Hideaki Anno believed
children should be displayed to how much life sucks as early as possible. It was later moved to a more
adult timeslot when people began questioning the show s incline into the deconstruction it s famously
known for. It interests me immensely that this man actually despises the fanbase and their interests,

at the Fort Myers airport! The heavy luggage pulled my arms down while walking out of the airport to
find a rental car. The Florida sun and a hot breeze blew on my face, instantly lightening my drowsy
mood. Little did we know that we had to wait about 25 minutes before getting our car, and sitting

as king, warrior and hero by combining his character and traits as presented in the existingwritten

Arthur, through his bravery, dedication andcommitment, has earned himself legendary status. I have
often asked myself whypeople still remember such heroes and adore them. Through my research, I
foundthe answer to my question. Firstly, because victors of great battles are alwaysremembered and
secondly, people long for inspirational leadership, leadership thatwill raise their national pride, their
work ethics or more generally, would makethem feel important, appreciated and as an irreplaceable
part of something biggerthan themselves. This is exactly what Arthur achieved. He made
peopleunderstand that a leader is nothing without his people as well as that the peopleare nothing
without their leader. Inspiring people solely through words just doesnot suffice. Courage, cooperation,
determination, bravery, optimism, and honestyare the things that people will cherish and admire in a
hero. Arthur stands as animage of an ideal hero and human being who, like a messianic figure,
willinglyfaces danger, defeats evil, forgives injustice and helps people in their darkest
hour.Consequently, he perfectly fits the warrior archetype.Warriors live by a personal code that
prioritizes self sacrificialservice. They defend the weak while exercising personal restraint. They are

Inca Government Intervention
Government intervention is common in today s market society. Although difficult to identify at times,
it is ever present in most transactions that occur. The idea behind the involvement is promotion of the
welfare of the citizens that reside within the government s rule. Whether establishing or promoting
economic growth, employment, income equality, or stabilizing interest rates, the government feels that
their hand in the transaction is for the benefit of the consumer. Market failures can be argued in favor
or in contradiction of big government. No matter the opinion of the individual, the masses are able to
enjoy cleaner air, water, and ground due to increased guidelines set by governing officials. The air we
breathe is full of pollutants; some of which are man made, others are found naturally and released
during chemical changes. The Clean Air Act, which is a constant work in progress, is designed to
reduce emissions by corporations to include those that are considered greenhouse gasses (Cooke Bell
2014). The gasses are a result of unfiltered, or unregulated, production that creates spillover. Water, a
renewable resource like air, is also a regulated waste product. A lot of chemicals, debris, and sewage
can flow from households and industries. Considered one of the most effective ... Show more content

measure of government involvement. The opposite, at least in economic terms, is Laissez faire. This

Although neither system of government or lack thereof is prevalent, or succeeding, they are the hope

his daughter asks herself if he has ever taken a man s life. At nine years old, nearly 20 years after the
Vietnam War is over, Kathleen asks her father a question. Has he ever killed someone, she wants to

thinks when she is a little older she will understand better. Maybe then O Brien will tell her about the

O Brien acknowledges that he has lied to his own daughter. Again he is drawing attention to the nature
of the story as a story that he decided to tell, rather than something that is essentially true. This is
meant to put the reader on his or her guide against false sources, and unreliable guides to the war. But
O Brien also disputes the notion that there is a stable truth to be found. He views a story s content as
changeable. He writes:
It was a difficult moment, but I did what seemed right, which was to say, Of course not, and then to
take her onto my lap and hold her for a while. Someday, I hope she ll ask again. (129) The difficulty
for O Brien is double pronged. He must decide whether or not to lie to his daughter. He must also
relive and come face to face to a deeply traumatic event. The title is an ironic double entendre. O
Brien ambushed the soldier with a grenade and Kathleen ambushed her father with a wrenching
question. O Brien killed the soldier, and Kathleen threw her father into moral

If one is the parent of a middle or high school student, there is a probability that one s child is either
engaged in, or spectator to, online behavior that you would find alarming and un easing. For many
teens though this behavior has become just another challenge of youth, and another facet of their lives
that parents either don t know about or feel as though they cannot understand to the child s full
potential. The existence of a generation gap between what adults and teens believe is acceptable
language, behavior, or communication on social media today is one of the findings in an extremely
detailed article in the Palo Alto Weekly Power to hurt: How social media impacts our kids. The
bundles of stories reveal the unprecedented struggles facing today s teens as they find their way in the
unsupervised, deranged and raw world of social media. Teens related stories about the silent suffering
that they endured when peers, which they consider friends, anonymously post obscene, sexually
explicit and frequently downright false comments that are designed to hurt ones feelings, gain social
advantage at their own expense or to boost the bully s ego. For some, especially those at the top of the
social pyramid or consider the popular kids; it is just another tricky social ... Show more content on

The Germ Theory
In the light of the germ theory...[d]jseases are to be considered as a struggle between the organism and
the parasites invading it. The aforementioned quote, by Henry Gandle, a professor of physiology at
Chicago Medical College, characterizes the germ theory through the collective human struggle against
disease inducing microorganisms. In a period of discovery, where the nature of various germs and
diseases were brought to light, the common conception encompassed a war between humans and
diseases; this analogy to a war implicates a united effort on the part of the human race in battling these
dangerous microorganisms. Tomes writes in The Gospel of Germs not only of the different scientific
discoveries associated with the emergent germ ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Southwood Smith excerpt, he depicts the ideal method of quarantine as influenced by neither
ancient prejudices, nor an excess of anxiety to avert possible danger, should induce the continuance of
restrictions inessential to their object. In other words, Southwood Smith acknowledges not only the
active societal biases, but also that these partialities can enter the medical realm through prejudicial
treatment of disease. A society with such prominent discrimination, including in those with medical
clout, has the capacity to formulate racial and class bias in germ theory that is but an extension of
already existing anxieties concerning other less well off members of society. Rather than bringing
people together in response to the fear of disease, quarantine had the capacity to create a more
segregated society praying on the middle and upper class fears of disease spreading through the other,
discriminated members of society. African Americans are among the societal groups that lacked the
societal cohesiveness Tomes attributes to the gospel of germs insofar as they remained segregates and
relatively uneducated on the new germ theories in comparison to other members of society. In an

Preserving The Good Within Ourselves
Preserving the Good within Ourselves: Fiction Superhero shows and movies have become incredibly
popular over the last decade. Whether you re an adult or a child, the variety of superhero shows and
movies appeal to all ages and have become an obsessive source of entertainment. With new
technology, superheroes and villains that were once pages in a comic book have come to life in ways
the older generation of fans would never have imagined. Ever since Christopher Reeve played
Superman in 1978, three sequels and many more remakes followed suit (Yueh). Ever since the original
X men film was released in 2000; half a dozen new movies have been released every year since which
totals to about 61 movies (Yueh). The Avengers along with four other films grossed more than 1
billion dollars in the box office, making movie history. What makes superheroes, as well as villains so
fascinating? For decades, society had found comfort, hope, and inspiration in superheroes. The idea of
having a superhero is fascinating because one person possess inherently good qualities to carry the
burden of others. A superhero is kind and fearless while continuously putting others before
themselves. They usually possess amazing abilities or powers, allowing them to handle a situation in a
way a normal person couldn t. They can be compared to Greek Gods, but because they also have flaws
we are able to relate and connect with them. Superheroes have the capacity to single handily make the

Lion King Evaluation
The Lion King is a drawn animation about a lion cub, whose father is the king of a Pride Land, who is
murdered by his brother and then the lion cub that is now to be king is forced to leave his Pride Land
by his fathers brother. He then manages to find refuge and friends in a jungle where he grows up, until
one day, when he meets an old friend, who he falls in love with and then he returns to his Pride Land
to claim what is rightfully his from his uncle.

It is also a song that sounds a bit like it is sung by young, free, fun loving rebels which is sort of what

The producers use music at that part of the film very effectively.
The producers also manage to use light very effectively in the film to give of a certain impact that they
want. This is shown at a part of the film when the hyenas have just turned on their master Scar (Simba

they give of shadows from the fire, which makes them grow larger so to Scar, they seem more
dangerous and powerful as they are larger and also the light shines on their faces in a way that lights
up their eyes so they seem more evil, dangerous and scary. They use light at this part of the film very
effectively to emphasis the impact of the hyenas encircling and they seem a lot more powerful,
dangerous, evil and threatening. Light is used extremely effectively here to emphasis the hyena s

Abstract
There are many influential women around the world, but the two that come to mind for me are Ellen
DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey. Both Ellen and Oprah have had their shows for multiple years, but
they offer more than just a talk show. These two accomplished women touch the lives of many around
the world on a daily basis. While these two women are both in the same industry, it is nice to see they

A Safe Haven For Orphans
After the loss of the majority of France s colonies in the Americas, the Restoration government
occupied itself with colonizing attempts in Senegal and French Guiana. During this period of colonial
expansion in French Guiana, the French government endorsed several attempts to colonize Mana, an
area along the fertile, but poorly known Mana River. However, none of their attempts were successful.
In 1827, the French government granted Anne Marie Javouhey and the Sœurs de Saint Joseph de
Cluny, the religious congregation that Javouhey founded with four of her biological sisters, a tract of
land for the establishment of an independent commune. Javouhey initially planned to use Mana to
create a safe haven for orphans. Although she asked the French government to financially support the
establishment, the colony was to remain independent in terms of governance and its economic
livelihood. By 1832, before the orphans that she had envisioned could materialize, Javouhey s attempt
had failed. According to Sarah Curtis, of the original fifty six colonists in 1828, five had died, eight
had left for other parts of Guiana, and twenty nine had returned to France. In 1836, Javouhey returned
to Mana. This time, she found success working for the moralization and gradual emancipation of
slaves. Commenting on Javouhey s second effort in Mana, Delaplace stated, il semblait à beaucoup

Essay on Gender and Power in The Arabian Nights
Gender and Power in The Arabian Nights
Works Cited Not Included
Contemplating the relationship between gender and power, one undoubtedly notices that tradition
regards men as the holders of official office and power. Historically, men have also always been the
leaders of their families, and turned to in times of trouble or need. Making generalizations is normally
a weak approach to any task; in this case however, it is necessary to do so in order to illustrate how
drastically opposite the situations prove in various selections from 1001 Arabian Nights. Rather than
men taking critical roles of power, the women characters, especially at crucial moments in the plot,
empower themselves far beyond the male figures, and, consequently, ... Show more content on

Even Aladdin s mother criticizes him for his ridiculous desire, My child, may Allah protect you! It
seems you ve lost your head! However, as a loving mother she tells him, my greatest desire is for you
to marry , and with that makes the boldest decision of the story: to approach the Sultan to request his
daughter s hand in marriage for Aladdin. The move, an unprecedented one, highlights beautifully the
incredible composure and boldness of Aladdin s mother. Even she questions, . ..how can I be so bold
as to ask for the daughter of the Sultan of China...? (164) In an ironic role reversal, Aladdin s mother
suddenly becomes empowered enough to carry out such a bold action. Through her ability to approach
the sultan to ask the most audacious of questions, Aladdin s mother refutes classic notions of the
power gender relationship. The decision to approach the sultan would have been valiant in itself for
even the most courageous man; the fact that a woman did this exemplifies the empowerment of
women in 1001 Arabian Nights and spurs doubt surrounding the classic idea that men are more
powerful than women.
Similarly, the gender power relationship is once again raised in Ali Babba and the Forty Thieves , and,
like Aladdin, the empowerment of the strong female characters leads to meaningful impact on the
story. Ironically, before this magical transition of power takes place, women are viewed are powerless
victims. For example, when

The Ku Klux Klan
The Ku Klux Klan
Typically referred to as the KKK, the Ku Klux Klan was an immorally racist secret society which
utilised acts of violence and terrorism to assert white supremacy and maintain a strict racial hierarchy
in South America following the end of the American Civil War in 1865.
History
The KKK was a Christian organisation formed in Pulaski, Tennessee on December the 24th, 1865.
The name Ku Klux Klan is derived from the Greek word kylos , meaning circle, and the Scottish
Gaelic word of clan for the sake of alliteration. The 19th century clan established to reverse the post
civil war laws which elevated the rights of the African American population and to prevent the
abolishment of slavery. The original KKK group reached its peak between 1868 and 1870, having
introduced the first extreme aspects of racism and discrimination following the introduction of laws
after the war.
Members of the anti Black organisation sought the restoration of white supremacy throughout the
South and employed intimidation and violence as a method of pushing back the enfranchisement of
local African Americans. The group focused on targeting countries where the races were treated
relatively equal.
In the hopes of influencing upcoming elections and providing the organisation with an opportunity to
overthrow Republican state governments, representatives would destroy property, assault locals, raid
areas and commit terror acts and devious crimes such as murder.
The KKK would

Network Advantages And Disadvantages
A network is a group of computers and other devices (such as printers, phones,or a television) that are
connected by some type of transmission media. A network can be two computers connected by a cable
in a home office or as large as several thousand computers that are connected across the world.
Networks has two fundamentals known as the peer to peer and client/server. In a peer to peer network,
every computer can communicate with each other but no computer has more power than another.
Every computer is capable of sending and receiving information to and from every other computer.
They are simple to configure and they are often less expensive to set up. The downside is that they are
not flexible and they are not necessarily secure. Client/server network is sometimes used to refer to the
design of a network in which clients rely on servers for resource sharing and processing. This network
share some common elements, including clients, servers, workstations. Clients take on the form of
personal computers also known as smartphones and workstations . A network that uses server to
enable clients to share data is known as a client/server network. A model that was use to understand
and develop computer computer communications over network is known as OSI (Open Systems
Interconnection) which is a model that divides network communication into seven layers: Physical,
Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and Application. At each layer, protocols

Passivity In The Handmaid s Tale
Is that how we lived, then? But we lived as usual. Everyone does, most of the time. Whatever is going
on is as usual. Even this is as usual, now. We lived, as usual, by ignoring. Ignoring isn t the same as
ignorance, you have to work at it. In the novel The Handmaid s Tale, written by Margaret Atwood,
Atwood s character Offred, a handmaid, guides the reader through her life in the Republic of Gilead.
Through a strategically placed sequence of events, accompanied by references to animals and
inanimate objects to describe human beings, Atwood sculpts the underlying theme of the fatal
potential of passivity to result in the stripping of humanity. First and foremost, Atwood incorporates a
series of flashbacks of a pre Gilead era in order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Offred allows the Commander s fingers to encircle her ankle like a bracelet, where the tattoo is, a

A wooded area, a small town just north of Sacramento. Two preteen girls. Two bodies. Two close

key to finally deducing the crime lay in what the two men left behind, DNA. In a world of flawed

Cases that formerly did not have enough circumstantial evidence, nor any useful evidence at all that
were actively investigated until no more leads were available, that have gone cold are now resurfacing
with the DNA forensics systems in place. Now the combination of careful preservation, meticulously
maintained notes, and a drive to protect the truth are coming into play for cold cases to finally be
resolved. Such is the case with the 1973 California murders (Thompson). It was the drive for finality
that eventually caught, arrested, and convicted two men who did horrendous things to two young girls.
The families, despite the years, craved an end to the nightmare and justice for the little girls that they
had lost. Investigators were only able to reopen the case because they had a new arsenal of tools to
help them expand upon the evidence that was present at the scene: the men s DNA from the rape kits.
Cross examining those DNA samples with that in a database brought upon the discovery of the two
men, who now lived states away from the scene of the crime, and both of whom had been convicted of
other charges. Victory cases such as these are common now to see and hear about, with nearly every

Falls Prevention Within The Older Adult Over The Age Of 55...
The paper will discuss falls prevention in the older adult over the age of 55 and new and alternative
interventions for fall prevention compared to current practice. The desired outcome of the paper is to
provide information for fall prevention and, therefore, decrease the occurrence of falls. First, in order
to understand the importance falls have within the clinical setting, statistics showing the mortality,
morbidity and financial impact should be understood. The occurrence of falls within the acute care
setting is a growing problem among the elderly. The evidence shows that one in three people aged 65
or older will sustain a fall and that only half will report the fall to a caregiver (CDC, 2014). The
number increases to one in two when the patient reaches the age of 80. The Center for Disease Control
(CDC) defines a fall when a person unintentionally comes to rest on the ground or another lower level.
Falls are not an inevitable part of aging, however, aging does influence such things as reduced
mobility, comorbidities, and cognitive impairment which contribute to fall risk. Falls are one of the
leading causes of injuries in the acute care setting. The injuries sustained from falls leads to increased
hospital stay time and a chance for further injuries which may harm the patient (CDC, 2014).
According to the CDC in 2013, 2.5 million people suffered a fall, of these falls 734,000 were
hospitalized. The falls also resulted in 22,900 people dying from fall

Positivism Advantages
Positivism developed a particular scientific method and their method uses rationale thinking
(deduction and induction thinking), to try and establish the truth (Usher, 1996). Positivism assumes
that knowledge is gained from observation of the world out there, because it is absolute and
unchanging (Donald, Lazarus Lolwana, 2010, p. 79), for example 2 X 2 = 4 this sum will never
change. In the following essay I will discuss why positivism is attractive, who would benefit from

Lup Fiasco Uses The Word Bitch
The term bitch was first used to describe women in the fourteenth century, but before that it was used
to describe a female dog (Bayley, P2). The slang word for bitch is a term for an undesirable woman
with a high sex drive. Society back then (and now) is afraid of female sexuality. Calling a woman a
bitch suggests that she is the same as a dog in heat. Right from the start, the word was used to
dehumanize women and to shame us for being sexual beings. A bitch is subjugated, on the bottom.
Being called a dog is not a compliment, but being a bitch is worse. Dismissing a woman for being

Customization and service quality are both important aspects for any successful restaurant. These
components have many different qualities that can ultimately be very beneficial for businesses or quite

Restaurant takes pride in having exceptional service. The staff is very accommodating to customers

They told that by fitting into a European lifestyle they would have a better health, including healthy
diet, doctors etc. The White rulers told that this was the best interest of the Aboriginals itself, but their
ultimate motive was to eradicate Aboriginal blood completely and encourage a pure white Australia.
This disastrous, racist policy is now called the Stolen Generation policy . This shows how ignorant
and inhumane the Australian government was.
The 3 little girls, Molly, Daisy and Gracie, who is yet to experience their life, were forcibly taken from
their mothers and sent to the Moore River orphanage camp. They take away these little children away

Unwind Themes
Unwind written by Neal Shusterman is scoped with ideas that are very relevant in our society today.
The novel is based in the future where a child is both terminated and yet kept alive, however in a
divided state. The main themes in the novel are the right to life and the right to do what we want with
our own bodies, these ideas are in all three of the main characters lives. The idea of the right to life is
very important in today s society the reason for this is that taking away someone s life is murder,
except in our society it comes in all different forms. We have a right to our lives! We have a right to
choose what happens to our bodies Connor.
Firstly, Shusterman uses the main characters to portray the theme of the right to life. Connor gets his
life taken away from him at the age of sixteen when his parents sign his life away to be unwind, but it
wasn t his decision he didn t even know about it until he went snooping around and found the unwind
card that would take him to his death, the worst of all was that his family was going on vacation the
day after he was going to be unwind. So Connor went looking a little deeper when his parents went
out, and he found it the unwind order. this shows us that Connor s parents didn t even have the
decency to tell him and the worst thing was it was the holiday they were planning to go on The date on
the order was the day before the Bahamas trip. Shusterman used these quotes to express that the ...

The author s purpose was to use the main characters to make the reader think of what abortion actually
means and what our rights are to our own bodies. Since I have read this book, it s showed me that
everyone s meaning of life is different and that we have more rights than we might think. We have a
right to our lives! We have a right to choose what happens to our bodies

Leadership Styles And Philosophies Of Leadership Essay
Leadership and You Leaders play a crucial role in the society and organizations, especially with
regards to helping the organization achieve its objectives and purposes. These individuals use varying
approaches to leadership that inform their practices in motivating organizational members towards the
accomplishment of common objectives. Through their practices, leaders not only influence the
behaviors of their followers or subordinates but also help in shaping organizational culture. The use of
different leadership styles and philosophies is also attributed to the difference in concept and practices
of the leader. Moreover, leaders can improve their effectiveness through adopting strategies that
address the weaknesses of their leadership approaches since every leadership style or approach has
certain weaknesses.
Definition of Leadership Leadership is a term or concept that means different things to different
people depending on the context of where the leadership practice takes place. As a result, different
people have different definitions of what leadership is, which generates considerable problems in
attempts to effectively define leadership. From a personal perspective, leadership is a means for
talented individuals to influence others towards common objectives through sharing their knowledge
and perspectives (Mielach, 2013). This is probably the most suitable definition of leadership given
that the basis of leadership is to influence others regardless of

  • 2. The Impact Of Technology And Its Impact On The World As the time goes on, technology becomes more popular and essential for most people s daily life. Technology also becomes more dominant in every aspects on life such as working, studying, and even doing housework. It has radically changed the way human interacts with the world; for instance, people only communicated in person or through postal mails decades ago, and technology helped changing the traditional communication style into a faster one through texting and instant messaging. There are three perspectives on the impact of technology to humanity. First perspective is about its positive contributions to the society for the past few years. It has shorten many time consuming tasks that made us have scratched our heads when thinking about them. Second perspective is about some cons of relying on technology too much such as becoming more lazy and lacking of motivation of doing things as well as disconnecting from reality and real people. The third perspective is about its uses for some people in developing countries. Technology does not help them much since these people do not have enough money to afford it. Therefore, its prohibited cost makes itself inaccessible in some countries. Technology actually has made life better but relying on its automatic nature too much can lead to being enslaved for it. First of all, I fully agree on the first perspective that technology has positively contributed a lot to the society. It is growing rapidly in the recent years. That means ... It is far easier to live out one s dreams through a television screen than to create something for ourselves, those in the television business know this well. From finding love in some cheesy romantic comedy to indulging in shows for a good laugh, we are brainwashed into believing the messages conveyed to fit the norm . Shows that are directly connected to American culture would be adult animated comedies. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some shows, like South Park and The Simpsons, make us think logically about a situation we might otherwise overlook, even if it is outlandish in context. Numerous sociological studies done on people after watching The Simpsons had a positive effect. South Park watchers mentioned wanting to get involved with controversial topics. Stereotypes depicted by these shows have a negative impact; but occasionally, can help us to understand what is right and wrong. Sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender orientation, age, religion, etc. are all stereotypes projected in these shows at one time or another. The Simpsons often makes the audience learn from the character s mistakes with these stereotypes. The messages presented by these shows have an unrealistic expectation for reality. Almost all the shows project a middle class, heterosexual couple with their children, and characters of Caucasian race, apart from the Simpsons family who are yellow. Most of the violent/inappropriate actions in the shows will go without consequences. On many occasions, The Simpsons has exhibited child abuse through the actions of Homer Simpson to his son, Bart (Pesce). To find out, we interviewed four individuals on their choices, associations, and purchasing decisions when it came to shampoo. Our first recommendation is the Point System , although consumers tend to buy the same shampoo brand for many years, they are still price sensitive and eager to make use of any potential offers or discounts. We therefore suggest that shampoo marketers respond to this price sensitivity by offering discounts to repeat users. Our final recommendation for shampoo marketing managers is Brand Ambassadors , in our interviews we found that our subjects have been using the same brand for years and that most of them started using the brand based on observing a member of their reference group e.g. a family member. We therefore believe that marketers should highlight these two points by using brand ambassadors. Conclusion Through our interviews we aimed to understand the consumer product relationship between individuals and their shampoo brand. As a group we were surprised by the level of brand loyalty individuals have towards their shampoo. More specifically, China is defined as one of the five BRICS countries. These countries consist of; Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The BRICS countries do not share a global region, political systems, or economic systems. The textbook argues that the three main goals of these countries are prosperity, stability, and security. They believe that there are three major items on the agenda of each of the BRICS countries. The first of which is prosperity, followed by stability, and last security. As these ideas relate specifically to China, Danziger and Smith do not say much as to how China looks to become a more prosperous country. The comment that they do make pertains to how China was able to maintain an average growth of just over 10% annually in the economy from 1989 to 2010. They say, this has been particularly driven by the export of manufactured goods at prices that are highly competitive in the global marketplace. (Danziger Smith, pg. 437) In Minzner s article, he attributes the economic boom that went on in China to state led investments in roads, airports, and housing (which) had loomed large as drivers of economic growth. (Minzner, pg. 137) But he then highlights how, after 2010, the growth rate of China s economy dropped and by 2012 it was at 7.7% and continuing to fall. He gives a statement that blatantly explains why this took place. Beijing has systematically undercut its own bottom up reforms. In her essay, Turkle takes about the use of robots and technologies, and how those have been impacted the development of human beings. Alone Together can be divided into two parts. The first half of the book is about the development of social robots and how those robotic technologies are applied in human life. Turkle shares the results of the research of how robotic toys, such as Furby and Tamagotchi, affect children and adolescents. Through some examples and historical events of technology, she explains how the robot has been developed and enhanced for people, especially younger generation, started to think the robot not much as machine, but more as friends. The definition of human changed throughout the decades: while human was special because they can think, after thinking computer had been launched and disseminated, human became special because they can feel . During this period of colonial expansion in French Guiana, the French government endorsed several attempts to colonize Mana, an area along the fertile, but poorly known Mana River. However, none of their attempts were successful. In 1827, the French government granted Anne Marie Javouhey and the Sœurs de Saint Joseph de Cluny, the religious congregation that Javouhey founded with four of her biological sisters, a tract of land for the establishment of an independent commune. Javouhey initially planned to use Mana to create a safe haven for orphans. Although she asked the French government to financially support the establishment, the colony was to remain independent in terms of governance and its economic livelihood. By 1832, before the orphans that she had envisioned could materialize, Javouhey s attempt had failed. According to Sarah Curtis, of the original fifty six colonists in 1828, five had died, eight had left for other parts of Guiana, and twenty nine had returned to France. • 35. Informative Essay On Forensic Science A wooded area, a small town just north of Sacramento. Two preteen girls. Two bodies. Two close range bullet holes in their heads. On November 12, 1973, the bodies of two missing girls were found in Yuba County, CA. Over 60 people were actively investigated for the murder rape until 1976. Then it went cold. Forty one years later, investigators had two suspects (Thompson). After so many years, the key to finally deducing the crime lay in what the two men left behind, DNA. In a world of flawed justice systems and abundant lies, the truth can only come out in fact; the facts of science s introduction to the criminal justice system, known as forensic science. Cases that formerly did not have enough circumstantial evidence, nor any useful evidence at all that were actively investigated until no more leads were available, that have gone cold are now resurfacing with the DNA forensics systems in place. Now the combination of careful preservation, meticulously maintained notes, and a drive to protect the truth are coming into play for cold cases to finally be resolved. Such is the case with the 1973 California murders (Thompson). It was the drive for finality that eventually caught, arrested, and convicted two men who did horrendous things to two young girls. The families, despite the years, craved an end to the nightmare and justice for the little girls that they had lost. Investigators were only able to reopen the case because they had a new arsenal of tools to help them expand upon the evidence that was present at the scene: the men s DNA from the rape kits. Cross examining those DNA samples with that in a database brought upon the discovery of the two men, who now lived states away from the scene of the crime, and both of whom had been convicted of other charges. Victory cases such as these are common now to see and hear about, with nearly every month finding that there is another case that could finally be resolved, that could finally unveil the truth, and none done so ... • 36. Falls Prevention Within The Older Adult Over The Age Of 55... The paper will discuss falls prevention in the older adult over the age of 55 and new and alternative interventions for fall prevention compared to current practice. The desired outcome of the paper is to provide information for fall prevention and, therefore, decrease the occurrence of falls. First, in order to understand the importance falls have within the clinical setting, statistics showing the mortality, morbidity and financial impact should be understood. The occurrence of falls within the acute care setting is a growing problem among the elderly. The evidence shows that one in three people aged 65 or older will sustain a fall and that only half will report the fall to a caregiver (CDC, 2014). The number increases to one in two when the patient reaches the age of 80. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) defines a fall when a person unintentionally comes to rest on the ground or another lower level. Falls are not an inevitable part of aging, however, aging does influence such things as reduced mobility, comorbidities, and cognitive impairment which contribute to fall risk. Falls are one of the leading causes of injuries in the acute care setting. The injuries sustained from falls leads to increased hospital stay time and a chance for further injuries which may harm the patient (CDC, 2014). According to the CDC in 2013, 2.5 million people suffered a fall, of these falls 734,000 were hospitalized. The falls also resulted in 22,900 people dying from fall ... • 37. Positivism Advantages Positivism developed a particular scientific method and their method uses rationale thinking (deduction and induction thinking), to try and establish the truth (Usher, 1996). Positivism assumes that knowledge is gained from observation of the world out there, because it is absolute and unchanging (Donald, Lazarus Lolwana, 2010, p. 79), for example 2 X 2 = 4 this sum will never change. In the following essay I will discuss why positivism is attractive, who would benefit from positivism, why positivists call human beings things , and what the educational implications are. • 38. Lup Fiasco Uses The Word Bitch The term bitch was first used to describe women in the fourteenth century, but before that it was used to describe a female dog (Bayley, P2). The slang word for bitch is a term for an undesirable woman with a high sex drive. Society back then (and now) is afraid of female sexuality. Calling a woman a bitch suggests that she is the same as a dog in heat. Right from the start, the word was used to dehumanize women and to shame us for being sexual beings. A bitch is subjugated, on the bottom. Being called a dog is not a compliment, but being a bitch is worse. • 39. How Customization And Service Quality Customization and service quality are both important aspects for any successful restaurant. These components have many different qualities that can ultimately be very beneficial for businesses or quite the contrary. By executing these qualities in a particular restaurant setting it is likely that the given company will prosper. For my application paper I will focus in on how customization and service quality can be improved specifically at Charley G s Restaurant in Lafayette, Louisiana. Charley G s Restaurant takes pride in having exceptional service. The staff is very accommodating to customers and do they do their best to provide phenomenal service. The restaurant is equipped with Point of Sales system which helps waiters quickly and efficiently send orders out to the kitchen which is very beneficial when it comes down to customizing particular orders. In fact, both the line cook and the saucier chef for the restaurant were both definitely in favor of using the technology. Jordan Causey, a line cook for Charley G s, commented You can type in specifically what each customer wants. It speeds up the ordering process tremendously because the orders are immediately sent to our kitchen staff (Causey). (See exhibit 1) Because the kitchen gets the orders in so quickly, it accelerates the entire cooking and service process immensely.
