A Journal of the Plague Year Critique
A Journal of the Plague Year is a first person account of what it was like living through the times of
the plague. It recollects stories and other accounts of plague times heard by and collected by the Defoe
from other involved individuals. Explains many aspects before, during, and after the plague of their
ways of life and culture. Tells of tales of survivors of the plague but mostly off different tales of deaths
and how they died in many outrageous and tragic ways of people killing their families, themselves, or
masses of people. The whole journal is filled with collections of stories, but also with charts showing
the deaths in different parishes and how they change as the plague raged on. In the end, it tells how
life went back to normal for London and Defoe and his family.
Author Daniel Defoe wrote this journal to document his story of the plague along with others so that
he may share his account with future readers. He wanted people to hear his story and recollection of
the plague so that readers may learn about this epidemic straight through his journal. Showed the
struggle people, including himself, went through just for safety for their family and themselves from
the plague. He wanted to give examples of what the plague had done to people and what the results of
the plague was after it had infected them. Daniel wanted to show his own personal sense of hope
through his journal to show that even through the toughest of times, mass death of family and friends,

LITERATURE REVIEW: Human resource professionals and academics can be broadly divided into
two groups. The first group advocates that only monetary benefits would motivate and ultimately
retain employees whereas the second group considers intrinsic motivators more important than salary,
bonus and other monetary perks. Michael Armstrong in his book Human resource management
practice discusses that reward system must encourage employees to achieve corporate objectives
(Armstrong, 2003, pp. 613 630). The writer believes that employees remain motivated if they are
rewarded to achieve goals of a company. And when they are motivated they will stay with a company.
Taylor and the Instrumentality theory also support Armstrong s approach (Armstrong, 2003, pp. 217
230). According to both of these theories people only work for money and one action gives rise to
another . That means if people are rewarded they will be motivated and if they are motivated they will
not leave a company. However Taylors completely ignores social needs of human beings and confuses
them with machines. Other academics hold completely different view about retention and

Freedom Writers True Story
Nobody ever listens to a teenager. Everybody thinks you should be happy just because you re young.
They don t see the wars that we fight every single day. And one day, my war will end. And I won t die.
And I will not tolerate abuse from anyone. I am strong. These are the words of one of Erin Gruwell s
Long Beach, California high school students. The actors and actresses of Freedom Writers are Hilary
Swank, April Lee Hernandez, and Patrick Dempsey. They represent Erin Gruwell, Maria Reyes, and
Scott Casey ( Freedom Writers True Story ). The movie Freedom Writers is based on a true story, it is
easy to question how much of the plot is factual when seeing these words. However, almost every
situation contained in the film portrays what actually occurred. In the movie, when the students read
from their diaries, these are the real diaries from the students. Scenes including a Toast for Change ,
Holocaust survivor visits, a trip to the Holocaust museum, specific in class activities, and many more
indeed occurred in Miss Gruwell s class ( Freedom Writers True Story ). A significant component of
the film Freedom Writers is gang life and the effects of it on children; there are many lessons to be
taught regarding this issue. The movie begins in Long Beach, California and shows a teacher who
applies for a teaching position she is not prepared to face. At first, the students are uncontrollable, and
fights break out daily between students. They hate Miss Gruwell before they even

A Study on Traffic Violations Essay
A STUDY ON TRAFFIC RULES VIOLATIONS IN CHENNAI
(VANDALUR AND PERANGALUTUR)
Submitted By:
Praveen Kumar A, MBA.
INTRODUCTION Violations in traffic laws are very common in a highly populated country like
India. The conditions are even worse in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai Bangalore and Chennai. The
accidents associated with these violations cause a huge loss to life and property.
Same is the case in Chennai. Being a metro city and a highly populated one also, has a lot of road
accidents every year. Despite this the violations in traffic laws do not reduce. A lot of people disobey
the rules every day sometimes willingly and sometimes because they are forced to do so because of
others.
The major traffic laws in India ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also it has a vast population which causes a lot of traffic on the roads. Knowing these factors help us
to collect more accurate data because it enables us to compare between different situations and make a
better analysis. These factors can be identified as:
Overcrowded roads because of a large population, Maximum traffic is observed during office hours
i.e. between 8.00 10.00AM and 5.00 8.00PM. Therefore the maximum violations are also done during
these peak hours. Are report includes study during both peak as well as non peak hours. One another
important factor is that since most of the offices are in the areas like Vandalur and Perangalatur, the
maximum traffic is observed in these areas. So these areas experience maximum breaking of traffic
laws.
The violations mentioned in the report are:
Overloading of vehicles it is very common in the case of two wheelers.
Not wearing helmets or seat belts is also a major rule which is not followed and is the cause of many
deaths and serious injuries.
Drunken driving and speeding beyond a mentioned limit.
Driving in the wrong direction is one of the key violations.
Not obeying the traffic signals is observed mainly during the peak hours of traffic as everyone is in a
rush to reach early.
Thus, these are the basis on which the report is based.
METHODOLOGY
As the traffic violations will give out better results when studied at the places with high density of

A Short Note On Corporate Management s Financial Metrics...
PROJECT FINDINGS/OUTCOMES/DELIVERABLES With corporate management s financial
metrics, which provides previous year s average nursing staff percentage and billing rate, by using the
data that are collected from the referral tracking master log to yield each location s expected weekly
hours approved and average process days, the potential revenue of 7 days from the referral pipeline
can be calculated. As each location s average referral process days is greater than the median, that
location has greater possibility to reduce its referral process days, therefore potentially increase the
company s revenue (see appendix 4, chart 1 2) Based on the findings, Tucker PDN has the highest
average referral process days 62 days and second highest potential revenue of 7 days $14,200 (Staff %
× Billing Rate × Expected weekly hours approved); Philadelphia PDN has the third highest average
process days 53 days and third highest potential revenue of 7 days $13,900. These two locations are
top priorities in term of reducing the referral process days and generating extra revenue. Plus,
Harrisburg PDN and Westford PDN can also be considered as priorities, since both locations are also
well above the total average referral process days, have a great amount of potential revenue of 7 days
in total of $21,000. For PDH location, Wilkes Barre PDH is the primary location, with second highest
average referral process days and second highest potential revenue of 7 days, as 7 average

BMX Bikes And Emotional Pain
Do you ever get so angry that there is smoke about to come out your ears? I have been angry and just
about to lose it when I was not getting my way. What really makes me angry is crashing my BMX
bike, competing in sports, and losing a bike race. First of all, crashing my BMX bike causes me real
pain. The pain I feel is both emotional and physical pain. The emotional pain I feel when I have to pay
for my bike to be fixed. In addition emotional pain is when I get mad because I go down in rank. This
is why when I crash my BMX bike I get angry. Secondly, competing in sports makes me sometimes
mad. I get mad when we lose in sports to our town rivals. Furthermore, when we lose to them I get
frustrated because it gets to be a heated game. When there

Eugenics Argumentative Essay
What nature does blindly, slowly, and ruthlessly, man may do providently, quickly, and kindly. As it
lies within his power, so it becomes his duty to work in that direction (Sir Francis Galton). Who,
would have known the idea of changing something to make it better in the future would be so foreign
to a world where it s happening continuously. Humans try to improve themselves in one form or
another, whether it s makeup, clothes, medicine, cosmetic surgery, and countless other things. The
world is constantly changing, so to does humanity only through eugenics. The world does not seem to
know what Eugenics is, the history, and the popular view today. Eugenics is always considered bad
but is it, and why? Eugenics; the refinement of the gene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eugenics was widely considered a bad thing when the Nazi s in World War II were forcing innocent
people to become sterile. However, in today s society it can be used to eliminate diseases including
Tay Sachs, Fragile X, and Huntington s disease. By eliminating the chances of passing dormant
diseases in genes, they could eventually become non existent.
If people were asked on the street what do you know about eugenics they wouldn t have a valid
response. The responses would be less descriptive, and knowledgeable. Those that are of the elderly
community know the most about it, mainly because they lived it. In the early nineteen hundreds there
were many laws placed, where the state can choose to sterilize a person. Information from Disability
Justice says, the Supreme Court voted 8 1 in favor to pass the law. This all was depending on their,
mental condition, physical condition, whether you are presumptuous, criminals, idiots , rapists,

How Does Richard s Quest To Become King
Richard III by W. Shakespeare (1592) Now: In the Wings on a World Stage, Jeremy Whelehan, dir.
(2014) 1.Critics argue that the quote The ends justify the means best exemplifies Richard s quest to

outcome excuses any wrongs committed to attain it. The ends justify the means explained Richard the

to get there. Richard s arrogance also thinks that because he will become king all of his wrongdoings

instead the best thing around. There are many examples of this in the play that show Richard has

Richard to take the steps he does, the murdering innocent people cannot be justified. The most vicious
of these killings is the murder of the two princes the children of king Edward. Shakespeare gives the

Olive Trees Important To Athens
Olive Trees and their historical and spiritual importance to Athens
By Cade Lannigan
Thesis:
If olive trees didn t exist Athens would have been a lot less successful.
Questions:
What was the mythology behind olive trees ?
How important were olive trees to the Athenians and what did they do to protect them ?
How did people make olive oil and what was it used for in ancient Greece ?
One example of olive tree importance was when Sparta burned all of their olive trees to weaken their
trading market of olive tree products.(smart move Sparta) Olive trees were so important to Athens that
one year when their olive groves failed they bought about 14,800 gallons ( 56,000 liters) of olive oil

Personal Note On How I Spend My Money Essay
First and foremost, before I make any big financial decision I ask myself, Is this purchase within my
means? and Do I really want this? These are the main questions that factor into how I spend my
money. If my initial gut feeling is that of uncertainty, I tend to back off from that purchase. In 2013, I
purchased a black Dodge Challenger SXT Rally Redline edition for my 24th birthday. At the time, I
was driving a silver 2007 Dodge Caliber my mother had bought for me as a graduation gift. It was
paid for in cash so the only expenses I had to worry about were insurance and maintenance. But, there
always is a but right lol. I really, really, reallyyyyy wanted a new car and I was tired of being 6 6
squished in a Dodge Caliber. I was fortunate enough to graduate college without any student loans and
I recently just paid off a $3000 debt I owed to my University. I wanted to reward myself for the hard
work I put in throughout the years. Honestly, I don t have any regrets I just wish I did things a little bit
more differently.

Organized Crime and Youth Gangs
Organized Crime and Youth Gangs
The FBI defines organized crime as any group of individuals jointly and systematically engaged in
criminal activity for the purpose of making money (FBI, n.d.a). The FBI also provides links to various
organized criminal groups on their website, with most being defined by race or ethnicity. The most
famous of these groups in the United States is the Italian Mafia or La Cosa Nostra, which is translated
as this thing of ours (FBI, n.d.b).
The FBI identifies four distinct Italian mafia groups, the La Cosa Nostra (Sicilian Mafia), Camorra
(Neapolitan Mafia), Calabrian (Calabria Mafia), and the Sacra Corona Unita (United Sacred Crown
based in the Puglia region) (FBI, n.d.b). Of these, the American La Cosa Nostra has been the most
successful organized crime group in the U.S. and over the decades has severed controlling ties with
Sicily. The American La Cosa Nostra is involved primarily in drug trafficking, money laundering, and
various other racketeering crimes, and operates on an international level across North and South
America.
The Italian Mafia was formed and molded into its current form over the past 3,000 years in response
to recurrent invasions by marauding armies (FBI, n.d.b). The formation of these tight knit extended
family groups helped ensure their survival and established social rules that endured through the
millennia. Today, there are approximately 25,000 members worldwide, with 3,000 living in the U.S.

The Changing Roles and Status of Women
In 1903 the suffragette movement was born with the formation of the Women s Social and Political
Union (WPSU) by Emmeline Pankhurst and her two daughters Christabel and Sylvia.
At first the newly formed suffragettes relied on spreading propaganda to gain support. However, on
the 18th October 1905 they gained considerable unplanned publicity when Christabel Pankhurst and
Annie Kenney stood up at a public meeting and asked if a Liberal government would introduce
women s suffrage. Receiving no reply they stood on their seats waving a banner which said, votes for
women . They were thrown out of the meeting and arrested for causing an obstruction ... Show more

The outbreak of war resulted in a truce between the suffragettes and the government. Emmeline
Pankhurst rallied the suffragettes behind the war effort on the 10th of August 1914 with the question,
What is the use of fighting for a vote if we have not got a country to vote in? In return all suffragette
prisoners were pardoned and the WPSU devoted it s formidable energies to fighting the war.
It was absolutely essential that women should take over many of the jobs, which had been done the
men recruited into the armed forces. There were female sailors, ambulance drivers and female police
officers. However, women are probably most renowned for their work in munitions factories making
bombs and cartridge cases.
Women continued to work after the war, in the jobs the war had created for them. This showed
everyone what women were capable of. At the end of the twentieth century it was an eye opener to
those brought up in the Edwardian tradition that a woman s place was at home. It s success gained
publicity for women s rights, and the newspapers and magazines of the time were filled with praise.
In 1917, the Prime Minister Lloyd George announced that women s war work had changed people s
opinion on women s suffrage.

Edward Abbey First Morning Analysis
In my personal opinion the memoir written by Edward Abbey, The First Morning gave the best
description of his initial assessment of the Arches National Monument. His narrative gave many
details on how he physically felt the night of his arrival along with his waking moments to watch the
sun rise. His description of his views started off describing his journey in finding the house trailer
which he would live in for the next six months. The road, narrow and rocky, twisted sharply left and
right, dipped in and out of ravines, climbing by degrees toward a summit which I would see only in
the light of the coming day. (p. 564) His descriptions were so detailed that as a reader it is easy to

Parking Restrictions For A Condominium
What every Condominium Association needs to know about Parking Restrictions
The enforcement of parking restrictions is one of the most problems that condominium associations
and property managers are forced to deal with. In densely packed urban areas, parking spaces are
often at premium in condominiums and issues arise when co owners fail to park in their designated
areas. In contrast, suburban site condominiums with single family homes often face parking issues
related to parking boats, commercial vehicles or inoperable vehicles in driveways or on the street.
Accordingly, given the vast array of potential parking issues that can arise in a condominium,

Feminism In The Bloody Chamber
The Bloody Chamber is a collection of short stories written in 1979 by Angela Carter during a time
known as second wave feminism. Carter s work was highly influenced by the genre of fairy tales,
Carter has been quoted saying her stories in The Bloody Chamber are stories about fairytales in order
to show what is wrong with them. Carte writes within and against fairy tales by this it is meant that
she both conforms to some of the conventions of the genre and deliberately deviates from them
purposely to illustrate her points.

even though there are elements of the fantastic present. However the elements of fairy tales Carter has
conformed to is the hardships faced by the heroine. Poverty was a clear hardship face by the heroine in

Behavior Modification And Its Effect On Behavior Essay
Behaviors, are what people do and say, as humans, we notice how certain behaviors can be desirable
but also undesirable. Though behavior modification, a person can attempt to alter a specific behavior
by analyzing the behavior, and create a personalized plan to modify the behavior. When analyzing the
behavior a person needs to decide if the behavior is either is in excess (to decrease the undesirable
behavior) or deficit (to increase desirable behavior). Once behavior is the selected, then the person
must decide if they desire to increase or decrease their behavior. Afterwards, the person needs to
create a plan of action, this depends on their research design and recording method. The plan action is
personalized for each study. Behavior modification allows a person to analyze a specific behavior and
use a scientific technique to test if their treatment/intervention will modify their behavior. For
example, I choose a target behavior to modify this semester which was studying. I had a behavioral
deficit in studying that I desired to address, I wished to increase my time studying by twenty five
percent. My definition of studying was any time (in minutes) that I dedicated to focusing on material
necessary for my current classes, some examples are reading material for class, doing assignments for
class (homework or essays), and reviewing material for exams (additional reading, notes, or index
cards). I wished to address my study habits because I had noticed I felt like I never

economy and define economic globalization. Beginning as early as 4000 BC, people were trading
livestock, tools, and other items as a means of money. People residing in Sumer, an early civilization
in Mesopotamia, came up with a token system that was seen as one of the first forms of commodity
money. Labor markets consist of workers, employers, wages, income, supply, and demand. Labor
markets have been around as long as commodity markets. Labor markets grew out of commodity
markets because labor was needed to grow the crops and tend to the livestock. The growth of
commodity and labor markets grew into a capital market where companies and governments handle

Diagnosis Of The Myotonic Dystrophy ( Dm ) Phenotype
Introduction. In light of recent evidence that cancer is part of the myotonic dystrophy (DM)
phenotype, we assessed the prevalence of benign and malignant tumors among patients enrolled in the
UK DM patient registry, and evaluated factors associated with their development.
Methods. A survey was distributed to 409 registry enrollees (64% responded) to collect tumor history
and lifestyle information. We used multinomial logistic regression for the analysis.
Results. Thirty nine benign (30 patients), and 16 malignant (15 patients) tumors were reported. Older
age (OR=1.12, 95%CI=1.05 1.20, p=0.001) and younger age at DM diagnosis (OR=1.07, 95%CI=1.01
1.13, p=0.031) were associated with benign, and malignant tumors (OR=1.20, 95%CI=1.10 1.31, p
0.001), and interestingly, younger age at DM diagnosis (OR=1.08, 95% CI=1.01 1.15, p=0.018),
which is the inverse of the relationship observed in the crude model. Smoking, alcohol consumption,
and BMI remain unassociated with benign or malignant tumors in the adjusted analysis.
Discussion
In this cross sectional study, 12.4% of the DM patients reported at least one benign tumor, and 6.2%
reported at least one malignant tumor. In the multivariable analysis, we found that older patient age
and younger age at DM diagnosis were associated with both benign and malignant tumors, while
gender was associated with benign tumors only. We found no statistically significant associations
between reported tumors and evaluated lifestyle factors

Persuasive Essay On Cyber Warfare
What is cyber warfare and what has been known about it? Well, not much has been brought into the
attention of the people because of interest that is set from all sorts of media. It has come to the
attention of news that seeing is more captivating than what can be understood in a different level.
There is less to be known when it comes to the cyber world, even though it is an ongoing part of what
we are today in regards to technology and communication, without it, things become way harder than
what they used to be, less simple than what they originally were. Cyber warfare is just the tip of the
iceberg on attacks that can cause harm to America and its fundaments that is in relation to the cyber
world. Cyber warfare is primarily internet based issues that associate with politically influenced
attacks on information and their systems, those attacks can potentially do things such as deactivate
official websites or networks, steal or modify classified data, and debilitate the financial structure,
among many other things. The only way to know the full extent is to conduct the research yourself and
found out what has been going on with the cyber aspect of the world. In order to expand your
knowledge for things cybernetic, there must be a drive to find more because the media will do little to
none in providing details of the next cyber attack or malicious hardware unless it is affecting
important corporations or business of the like.

Theme Of Oliver Twist
The word money sums up a theme that Dickens has been preoccupied with in many of his novels .
Dickens has studied the nineteenth century commercially oriented England and observed the
corrupting influence of money on members and deplorably , suggesting how material possessions
have become the criterion of evaluating a human being . Dickens s critics are well aware of this
devastating influence . Humphry House confidently tells us that Dickens s plots and characters are ,
constructed round an attitude to money . Social status without it is subordinate . 1 This however , is a
general comment on the Dickensian text . But in Oliver Twist , the theme gathers momentum and
unfolds itself in a manner that attracts our attention , hence its ... Show more content on

With the Victorian novelists , the scope of imagination takes a further step by being regarded as a
shared experience between the artist and the reader . We may do well here by recalling one of Dickens
s approaches to involve the reader in the narrative action through his use of humour which becomes a
connective agent . In The Life of Charles Dickens , Forster defends Dickens s humour in terms of its

Witness For The Prosecution Quotes
Ever seen the classic movie Witness for the Prosecution? Let me quote a dialogue from it between Sir
Wilfred Roberts, the defense lawyer and Leonard Vole, the murder accused. Roberts: Mr. Vole I must
tell you I m not putting her (Mrs. Vole) in the witness box. Vole: You re not? Why not? Roberts: Well
one thing she s a foreigner, not too familiar with the subtleties of our language. The prosecution could
easily trip her up. Even if one is not in the position of Mr. Vole and one s life does not depend on it,
the above quote still demonstrates the importance of language and language classes. If you don t know
a language properly and have to interact with the people who speak it, you re going to have a hard
time and will often be misunderstood.

Genesis 37-38 Analysis
Genesis 37 38 This is the introduction of Jacob/Israel s favorite son, Joseph. Joseph has multiple
dreams, which allude to a future where he will rule over all of his family members. Joseph s brothers,
who already despise Joseph, become even angrier after he tells them about his dreams. Instead of
murdering Joseph as they initially wanted, they sell him to Ishmaelites at Judah s advice and Joseph is
taken prisoner to Egypt. Chapter 38 is a sudden shift to Judah and his family after Joseph is sold into
slavery. A woman named Tamar marries Judah s firstborn, but after he dies she marries the second son.
He dies as well and Judah sends her away, fearing for the life of his youngest son, but promises that
she will marry his youngest son once he is old enough. Judah does not give Tamar to his youngest son
once he is old enough to marry, so Tamar takes matters into her own hands by tricking Judah into
sleeping with her. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is further complicated by the fact that many names of peoples were used interchangeably (the

Niditch focuses on the role of women in the period of the ancestral history and how it relates
specifically to the story of Judah and Tamar in Genesis 38. Niditch defines women basically as
objects, who do not have a rightful place in society if they are not married with children, or virgins in
their father s household. It is only after Tamar has children through Judah that she has claimed her

Film Review of Her
Is love a capability unique to humans, or are there no restrictions? And if there are no restrictions,
what determines whether that love can last? Her is a quirky, truly 21st century story that breaks
barriers by asking not who, but rather what we can love. Set in Los Angeles in the unspecified near
future, Theodore, a lonely writer in the midst of a divorce, stumbles into an unprecedented romance
with his Operating System, Samantha. The film raises scientific, philosophical, and even moral
questions, while never straying from its true purpose, which is to examine not only the way we love,
but the way we interact with other people in a world that seems to rely more and more on technology
to function. Writer and Director Spike Jonze invites the audience to have open mind and undergo an
individual exploration to these questions through the eyes of the characters. The film showcases the
infusion of technology into our lives and the challenges it creates for the way we look at the world.
The unconventional nature of Theodore and Samantha s relationship is what drives them both together
and apart. It sets limitations on their abilities as a couple, but creates a bond that is extremely personal.
The main limitation is the fact that Theodore is only able to get to know Samantha by hearing her
speak, since there is no ability to see her or touch her. Samantha s voice is the perfect blend of
innocence and coy sexuality. There is certain rawness in the way she speaks that makes

Anyone who may know Marshall Mathers might find him as an influential person. Marshall Mathers,

Marshall would study the dictionary to find better words to rhyme in his songs (Khurram). Despite the

While some may argue that this case lacks the balancing of rights perspective that was employed in

the mid 20th century are amongst some of the most influential in history in terms of political, social,

Kissinger occupied a government office in Washington D.C. and so greatly influenced the foreign

The success of Aston Blair s other films often depended upon the timing and popularity of major new
releases by its rivals, making accurate forecasting difficult. Moreover, as the firm has tried to increase
sales growth, it has introduced more completely new titles and relied less on sequels to past hits. The
increasing emphasis on new titles has further complicated forecasting efforts. The combination of
declining demand and Aston s Blair s overly optimistic sales forecasts for the first two quarters of
2004 had resulted in excessive inventories and sizable losses. Aston Blair s current problems stood in
dramatic contrast with the company s recent record of outstanding growth and profitability. Aston s

evolved into multimedia, it had always enjoyed a reputation for being a premiere supplier. During
Aston s 10 year stewardship as chief executive officer, the firm had quadrupled in size and had
become the most profitable firm in the industry. Aston attributed this recent success to the company s
aggressive marketing efforts and to its ability to identify potential multimedia users and to work with
them in developing products tailored to their requirements. Under Aston s and Pack s direction, the
company was the first firm in the industry to develop a marketing organization where market

Barack Obama s Presidency Of The Affordable Care Act
As President Barack Obama s presidency nears completion, it is natural that America as a whole
should look back and ask the question, Am I better off than I was four, or even eight years ago?
Although there are too many issues an administration faces in eight years to focus on all of them, one
of President Obama s most notable acts in his two terms in office is the passing of the Affordable Care
Act (ACA), more commonly known as Obamacare. It remains a controversial law, and has already
faced multiple repeal attempts, challenges in the Supreme Court, a presidential election, and continues
to be challenged repeatedly in Congress. The most recent CNN poll taken in January indicated that
51% of those polled disapproved of how President Obama is handling health care (President Obama
and the Obama Administration, para. 12). As the 2016 Presidential elections heat up, it becomes an
even bigger issue on the campaign platforms of GOP candidates. The future of the Affordable Care
Act could very well lie with the next presidential administration. With a presidency on its way out that
is so well known for Obamacare and presidential candidates using their stance on repealing the law as
such a key point in their campaigns, one can t help but wonder, how much does a candidate s
standpoint on the issue affect the public s opinion of them? Data collected in polls nationwide indicate
that that despite a common negative public opinion of Obamacare, a majority of Americans support

The Effects Of Media Violence
Violence has been around since the beginning of mankind, and it is not going away anytime soon.
Ever since the era of cavemen, we have relied on violence to provide us with the basic necessities to
survive; such as food and clothing, in harsh and barren environments. Fast forward several thousand
years and these basic necessities for survival are now abundant and readily available for a large
majority of the population. Unfortunately, this hasn t decreased the presence of violence in our society.
Today s entertainment and media mostly focuses on these violent examples because they know that it
will garner the most attention. The question on everyone s mind is if these violent images shown
throughout our multiple media outlets have a direct correlation with violent behavior. Research shows
us that violent images can directly trigger violent behavior. In order to better understand media
violence I think it s important to look at what defines it and what consequences it can have. Rowell
Huesmann goes on to state, Most researchers define media violence as visual portrayals of acts of
physical aggression by one human or human like character against another. This definition has
evolved as theories about the effects of media violence have evolved and represents an attempt to
describe the kind of violent media presentation that is most likely to teach the viewer to be more
violent (Huesmann The Impact of Electronic Media). Now the question is, do these violent images

Language In My Fair Lady
Abstract:
A language is a system of conventional signals used for communication by a whole community A. C.
Gimson. Language is an essential tool for communication as well as for self expression. Language can
be considered as a habit which is not genetically transmitted. It is acquired from the environment and
therefore it is always subject to change. Language and linguistics go hand in hand. Language is a
network of varieties and linguistics is the discipline that deals with the scientific study of language and
its variations like dialect, registers, pidgin, Creole, etc.
The purpose of this study is to explore the importance of the movie My Fair Lady in the study of

A simple example for the above statement is a comparison between a news covered by a news channel
and a newspaper. The news covered by the news channel would be more influential as it includes the
video clips along with the news scrolls and the reporter s narration, which creates an effect on the
audience that makes them feel as if they are witnessing the incident live, whereas, the one covered by
the newspaper will simply act as third person narrative to the audience. Similarly, there are many text
books and reference books that deal with the study of linguistics. But the movie My Fair Lady is an
excellent example, that gives the students of linguistics an idea about the benefits of learning it
properly and that gives the teachers of linguistics an idea about how to teach it effectively.
This study will work on understanding how the movie My Fair Lady depicts the power and beauty of
the English language through the life of a linguist and his student and the impact it has on the study of
linguistics. It will also analyze how different researchers have viewed this movie as a helpful tool in
the study of linguistics. The content analysis is done on the story of the movie My Fair Lady, the play
Pygmalion, written by George Bernard Shaw, from which the story of the movie is adapted, a website
and a research paper. The researcher has done an expert interview too, of a professor who deals with

The 5 Pillars Of Islam Essay
ANALYSIS ABOUT 5 PILLARS
5 Pillars of Islam is a principle in Islam, considered obligatory by those who believe and is the
principle of Muslim life. Islam nurtured than 5 principles and 5 of this principle is very linked

Starting with the collection (zakat), the collection and to determine, assess and determine who is
eligible or not. Zakat has a very close relationship with fasting because fasting during Ramadan all
Muslims have to pay zakat fit rah. Ramadan is a month for Muslims purification themselves from the
evil character that can damaged their faith. Zakat is a way for us to free ourselves from sin and thus in
the month of Ramadan many Muslims must pay zakat fit rah because the nature of the name indicates
that we need to return to the original nature where we not have bad character. From payment of zakat
we can help other people in distress. After Ramadan will be the inclusion of Syawal then zakat money
by Muslims can be given to people who don t have afford to find the money. As we do we can also
ease the burden of others who do not have the ability like us. Zakat is associated with fasting because
without charity we would be arrogant and selfish despite the fasting month of Ramadan then we just
got disobedience of Allah. Fasting also has to do with the charity because of the fast we can encourage
people to pay zakat caused when fasting Muslims to be thrifty and from the benefit of fasting Muslim
people have extra money to pay zakat while fasting Muslim people to do good deeds. The poor can be

  • 2. A Journal of the Plague Year Critique A Journal of the Plague Year is a first person account of what it was like living through the times of the plague. It recollects stories and other accounts of plague times heard by and collected by the Defoe from other involved individuals. Explains many aspects before, during, and after the plague of their ways of life and culture. Tells of tales of survivors of the plague but mostly off different tales of deaths and how they died in many outrageous and tragic ways of people killing their families, themselves, or masses of people. The whole journal is filled with collections of stories, but also with charts showing the deaths in different parishes and how they change as the plague raged on. In the end, it tells how life went back to normal for London and Defoe and his family. Author Daniel Defoe wrote this journal to document his story of the plague along with others so that he may share his account with future readers. He wanted people to hear his story and recollection of the plague so that readers may learn about this epidemic straight through his journal. Showed the struggle people, including himself, went through just for safety for their family and themselves from the plague. He wanted to give examples of what the plague had done to people and what the results of the plague was after it had infected them. Daniel wanted to show his own personal sense of hope through his journal to show that even through the toughest of times, mass death of family and friends, you can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The research will align the reward system and ultimate goals of Wal Mart. 8. The overall market position of Wal Mart will also improve as a result of all the above. LITERATURE REVIEW: Human resource professionals and academics can be broadly divided into two groups. The first group advocates that only monetary benefits would motivate and ultimately retain employees whereas the second group considers intrinsic motivators more important than salary, bonus and other monetary perks. Michael Armstrong in his book Human resource management practice discusses that reward system must encourage employees to achieve corporate objectives (Armstrong, 2003, pp. 613 630). The writer believes that employees remain motivated if they are rewarded to achieve goals of a company. And when they are motivated they will stay with a company. Taylor and the Instrumentality theory also support Armstrong s approach (Armstrong, 2003, pp. 217 230). According to both of these theories people only work for money and one action gives rise to another . That means if people are rewarded they will be motivated and if they are motivated they will not leave a company. However Taylors completely ignores social needs of human beings and confuses them with machines. Other academics hold completely different view about retention and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Freedom Writers True Story Nobody ever listens to a teenager. Everybody thinks you should be happy just because you re young. They don t see the wars that we fight every single day. And one day, my war will end. And I won t die. And I will not tolerate abuse from anyone. I am strong. These are the words of one of Erin Gruwell s Long Beach, California high school students. The actors and actresses of Freedom Writers are Hilary Swank, April Lee Hernandez, and Patrick Dempsey. They represent Erin Gruwell, Maria Reyes, and Scott Casey ( Freedom Writers True Story ). The movie Freedom Writers is based on a true story, it is easy to question how much of the plot is factual when seeing these words. However, almost every situation contained in the film portrays what actually occurred. In the movie, when the students read from their diaries, these are the real diaries from the students. Scenes including a Toast for Change , Holocaust survivor visits, a trip to the Holocaust museum, specific in class activities, and many more indeed occurred in Miss Gruwell s class ( Freedom Writers True Story ). A significant component of the film Freedom Writers is gang life and the effects of it on children; there are many lessons to be taught regarding this issue. INTRODUCTION Violations in traffic laws are very common in a highly populated country like India. The conditions are even worse in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai Bangalore and Chennai. The accidents associated with these violations cause a huge loss to life and property. Same is the case in Chennai. Knowing these factors help us to collect more accurate data because it enables us to compare between different situations and make a better analysis. These factors can be identified as: Overcrowded roads because of a large population, Maximum traffic is observed during office hours i.e. between 8.00 10.00AM and 5.00 8.00PM. Therefore the maximum violations are also done during these peak hours. Are report includes study during both peak as well as non peak hours. One another important factor is that since most of the offices are in the areas like Vandalur and Perangalatur, the maximum traffic is observed in these areas. • 6. A Short Note On Corporate Management s Financial Metrics... PROJECT FINDINGS/OUTCOMES/DELIVERABLES With corporate management s financial metrics, which provides previous year s average nursing staff percentage and billing rate, by using the data that are collected from the referral tracking master log to yield each location s expected weekly hours approved and average process days, the potential revenue of 7 days from the referral pipeline can be calculated. As each location s average referral process days is greater than the median, that location has greater possibility to reduce its referral process days, therefore potentially increase the company s revenue (see appendix 4, chart 1 2) Based on the findings, Tucker PDN has the highest average referral process days 62 days and second highest potential revenue of 7 days $14,200 (Staff % × Billing Rate × Expected weekly hours approved); Philadelphia PDN has the third highest average process days 53 days and third highest potential revenue of 7 days $13,900. These two locations are top priorities in term of reducing the referral process days and generating extra revenue. Plus, Harrisburg PDN and Westford PDN can also be considered as priorities, since both locations are also well above the total average referral process days, have a great amount of potential revenue of 7 days in total of $21,000. Eugenics was widely considered a bad thing when the Nazi s in World War II were forcing innocent people to become sterile. However, in today s society it can be used to eliminate diseases including Tay Sachs, Fragile X, and Huntington s disease. By eliminating the chances of passing dormant diseases in genes, they could eventually become non existent. If people were asked on the street what do you know about eugenics they wouldn t have a valid response. The responses would be less descriptive, and knowledgeable. Those that are of the elderly community know the most about it, mainly because they lived it. In the early nineteen hundreds there were many laws placed, where the state can choose to sterilize a person. (2014) 1.Critics argue that the quote The ends justify the means best exemplifies Richard s quest to become king. Support this idea by using examples from the play. In Richard s mind he thinks a good outcome excuses any wrongs committed to attain it. The ends justify the means explained Richard the third incredibly in his mind he did nothing wrong his main quest was to get on top and did do anything to get there. Richard s arrogance also thinks that because he will become king all of his wrongdoings will be forgotten and no one will remember him for being the king that killed his way to the throne but instead the best thing around. There are many examples of this in the play that show Richard has killed two take another leap forward towards the throne. No matter whether or not these killings drive Richard to take the steps he does, the murdering innocent people cannot be justified. The most vicious of these killings is the murder of the two princes the children of king Edward. • 13. Personal Note On How I Spend My Money Essay First and foremost, before I make any big financial decision I ask myself, Is this purchase within my means? and Do I really want this? These are the main questions that factor into how I spend my money. If my initial gut feeling is that of uncertainty, I tend to back off from that purchase. In 2013, I purchased a black Dodge Challenger SXT Rally Redline edition for my 24th birthday. At the time, I was driving a silver 2007 Dodge Caliber my mother had bought for me as a graduation gift. It was paid for in cash so the only expenses I had to worry about were insurance and maintenance. But, there always is a but right lol. I really, really, reallyyyyy wanted a new car and I was tired of being 6 6 squished in a Dodge Caliber. • 14. Organized Crime and Youth Gangs Organized Crime and Youth Gangs The FBI defines organized crime as any group of individuals jointly and systematically engaged in criminal activity for the purpose of making money (FBI, n.d.a). The FBI also provides links to various organized criminal groups on their website, with most being defined by race or ethnicity. The most famous of these groups in the United States is the Italian Mafia or La Cosa Nostra, which is translated as this thing of ours (FBI, n.d.b). The FBI identifies four distinct Italian mafia groups, the La Cosa Nostra (Sicilian Mafia), Camorra (Neapolitan Mafia), Calabrian (Calabria Mafia), and the Sacra Corona Unita (United Sacred Crown based in the Puglia region) (FBI, n.d.b). Of these, the American La Cosa Nostra has been the most successful organized crime group in the U.S. and over the decades has severed controlling ties with Sicily. The American La Cosa Nostra is involved primarily in drug trafficking, money laundering, and various other racketeering crimes, and operates on an international level across North and South America. The Italian Mafia was formed and molded into its current form over the past 3,000 years in response to recurrent invasions by marauding armies (FBI, n.d.b). The formation of these tight knit extended family groups helped ensure their survival and established social rules that endured through the millennia. The Changing Roles and Status of Women Essay The Changing Roles and Status of Women In 1903 the suffragette movement was born with the formation of the Women s Social and Political Union (WPSU) by Emmeline Pankhurst and her two daughters Christabel and Sylvia. At first the newly formed suffragettes relied on spreading propaganda to gain support. However, on the 18th October 1905 they gained considerable unplanned publicity when Christabel Pankhurst and Annie Kenney stood up at a public meeting and asked if a Liberal government would introduce women s suffrage. Emmeline Pankhurst rallied the suffragettes behind the war effort on the 10th of August 1914 with the question, What is the use of fighting for a vote if we have not got a country to vote in? In return all suffragette prisoners were pardoned and the WPSU devoted it s formidable energies to fighting the war. It was absolutely essential that women should take over many of the jobs, which had been done the men recruited into the armed forces. There were female sailors, ambulance drivers and female police officers. However, women are probably most renowned for their work in munitions factories making bombs and cartridge cases. Women continued to work after the war, in the jobs the war had created for them. This showed everyone what women were capable of. At the end of the twentieth century it was an eye opener to those brought up in the Edwardian tradition that a woman s place was at home. It s success gained publicity for women s rights, and the newspapers and magazines of the time were filled with praise. In 1917, the Prime Minister Lloyd George announced that women s war work had changed people s opinion on women s suffrage. The suffragettes contributed to women being given the vote by ... Though behavior modification, a person can attempt to alter a specific behavior by analyzing the behavior, and create a personalized plan to modify the behavior. When analyzing the behavior a person needs to decide if the behavior is either is in excess (to decrease the undesirable behavior) or deficit (to increase desirable behavior). Once behavior is the selected, then the person must decide if they desire to increase or decrease their behavior. Afterwards, the person needs to create a plan of action, this depends on their research design and recording method. The plan action is personalized for each study. Behavior modification allows a person to analyze a specific behavior and use a scientific technique to test if their treatment/intervention will modify their behavior. For example, I choose a target behavior to modify this semester which was studying. In light of recent evidence that cancer is part of the myotonic dystrophy (DM) phenotype, we assessed the prevalence of benign and malignant tumors among patients enrolled in the UK DM patient registry, and evaluated factors associated with their development. Methods. A survey was distributed to 409 registry enrollees (64% responded) to collect tumor history and lifestyle information. We used multinomial logistic regression for the analysis. Results. Thirty nine benign (30 patients), and 16 malignant (15 patients) tumors were reported. Older age (OR=1.12, 95%CI=1.05 1.20, p=0.001) and younger age at DM diagnosis (OR=1.07, 95%CI=1.01 1.13, p=0.031) were associated with benign, and malignant tumors (OR=1.20, 95%CI=1.10 1.31, p 0.001), and interestingly, younger age at DM diagnosis (OR=1.08, 95% CI=1.01 1.15, p=0.018), which is the inverse of the relationship observed in the crude model. Smoking, alcohol consumption, and BMI remain unassociated with benign or malignant tumors in the adjusted analysis. Discussion In this cross sectional study, 12.4% of the DM patients reported at least one benign tumor, and 6.2% reported at least one malignant tumor. Her is a quirky, truly 21st century story that breaks barriers by asking not who, but rather what we can love. Set in Los Angeles in the unspecified near future, Theodore, a lonely writer in the midst of a divorce, stumbles into an unprecedented romance with his Operating System, Samantha. The film raises scientific, philosophical, and even moral questions, while never straying from its true purpose, which is to examine not only the way we love, but the way we interact with other people in a world that seems to rely more and more on technology to function. Writer and Director Spike Jonze invites the audience to have open mind and undergo an individual exploration to these questions through the eyes of the characters. • 37. Lowe s Argumentative Essay Thank you for taking the time to listen to my complaints and for performing a walk through at the project site. As I mentioned during our phone conversation, on August 2014, Carmen Alfonso entered into a contract with Lowe s to renovate two bathrooms at 14817 SW 175th Street, Miami, Florida 33187 Unfortunately, I m disappointed with how long it has taken Lowe s to complete the renovation and furthermore all the setbacks encountered. The renovation commenced 2 years 6 months ago, four different contract companies and there are still outstanding issues, including but not limited to a water leak located in the small bathroom. On February 2015, shortly after the tiles were installed, brown stains randomly began appearing on the floor grout. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately, the brown stain resurfaced two more times and remediated two more times. Obviously, this issue was not the result of a chemical reaction as initially concluded by GC # 1 and 2, but something more profound. When the fourth GC (Jerson) was onboarded to remediate the outstanding issues, the brown stain issue was one of the items on the punch list. During the initial walk though, Jerson removed the grout that had the brown stain and found evidence of water on the cement underneath the tile. On January 3, 2017 the contractors removed the toilet and ripped out several floor tiles with the intent of identifying water leak. Once the area was exposed the leak was not apparent and therefore required a more in depth research according to the GC perhaps breaking the floor to again access to the pipes thus, requiring Lowe s approval before proceeding. The GC informed me that he would meet with Lowe s to propose his recommendations and that I should hear back from them in the next couple of day. On January 9th, as I waited to hear back from Lowe s regarding the next steps the contactors arrived at the house unannounced to install the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A simple example for the above statement is a comparison between a news covered by a news channel and a newspaper. The news covered by the news channel would be more influential as it includes the video clips along with the news scrolls and the reporter s narration, which creates an effect on the audience that makes them feel as if they are witnessing the incident live, whereas, the one covered by the newspaper will simply act as third person narrative to the audience. Similarly, there are many text books and reference books that deal with the study of linguistics. But the movie My Fair Lady is an excellent example, that gives the students of linguistics an idea about the benefits of learning it properly and that gives the teachers of linguistics an idea about how to teach it effectively. This study will work on understanding how the movie My Fair Lady depicts the power and beauty of the English language through the life of a linguist and his student and the impact it has on the study of linguistics. • 39. Mt. Everest, The Tallest Mountain It was an early morning in May of 1966, my adventure began with an early morning flight. The sun was rising over the fields and it set colors of a red and pink that deepened into the sky. I drove through the abandoned state road thinking about the people I m leaving behind, and the people I m about to start a new adventure with. Leaving behind my small town of corn fields and tractors, which for the last sixteen months I haven t spent a lot of time in. I have spent my time trekking through the mountains of the Western United States, training and preparing to climb Mt. Everest. Yes, Mt. Everest, the tallest mountain in the world. I remember reading some of his articles on Outsider Magazine on plane rides, or they end up in the emergency room office. He has such an amazing way of explaining his expeditions in nature. At that point in time it didn t cross my mind that we were about to embark on the same adventure. I peered out my window and am not disappointed when I see the Himalayas for the first time. Outstanding mountains with plains reaching miles in between. Every mountain gets bigger and bigger until I get to the mother lode, Mt. Everest. Everest is absolutely fascinating, the sheer force of what the mountain held was breathtaking, nothing of what I ever imagined. The mountain glimmered, light from sun hit the top and created a burnt orange color that made the mountains look like they were engulfed by flames. The black tip of the snow covered mountain protruded high into the sky and I realized that I was flying at the same altitude of the mountain. As I cleared the customs in Kathmandu I was greeted by a thick man with a clean shaven face, he looked liked he hadn t aged well. He was holding a sign that read Adventure Consultants. I could immediately tell he was from New Zealand by the accent in his voice. He shook me and Jons hand and introduced himself as Andy Harriss. We waited climber who misplaced their bags and Jon and Andy started into some talk about the differences in snowboarding and skiing.
