8. Langley
Events
Centre
Address: 7888 200 St, Langley, BC.
Service Sector: Commercial
SPSC 2210 Connection: According to Lunn (2021), a commercial sector
provides opportunities for leisure and recreation from a business point of
view. Similarly, the Langley Events Centre is an example of a business that
falls into the commercial sector. The Langley Events Centre provides
numerous recreational activities individuals of Langley can participant in.
This large facility provides many recreational and leisure opportunities for
everyone in the community. Although to participate in many of these
activities a small fee is required. Attending Hockey games, fitness cards,
and food all require payment to be able to participate. In this case, the
Langley Events Centre is an example of commercial recreation as it is a part
of the leisure industry and provides the Langley Community resources
(Lunn, 2021).

Service Sector: Commercial
SPSC 2210 Connection: Another example of a commercial
recreational facility is the Langley Cineplex as it provides
opportunities for leisure and recreation from a business standpoint
(Lunn, 2021). The cineplex provides the Langley community with
the opportunity to watch movies, enjoy food, and participate in a
variety of arcade games. Upon entry, individuals pay for the
recreation service that they would like to participate in, which then
can contribute back to the wealth of the Langley society (Lunn,
2021). A positive to this commercial recreation facility is that it
provides job opportunities for those that live within the community
(Lunn, 2021) and allows many other individuals an option when
choosing a recreational and leisure activity.

Address: 20631 Fraser Hwy, Langley, BC.
Service Sector: Commercial
SPSC 2210 Connection: A popular commercial recreational
facility located in Langley is Anytime Fitness. This recreation
facility encourages individuals to lead a healthy active lifestyle.
There are many gyms that community members can choose
from. Therefore, for Anytime fitness to remain successful they
must provide a business that maintains quality services and have
competitive affordable prices (Lunn, 2021). Doing this will
encourage more people to use their services instead of others.
Individuals that pay to use Anytime fitness recreational services
are providing the company profit (Lunn, 2021) which is why
they are in the commercial sector.

Another example for why they fall under the volunteer category is
due to the society being maintained by community memberships,
public sector assistance and volunteers to help with recreational
activities (Lunn, 2021). Providing many recreational activities for
those over 50 helps maintain an active healthy lifestyle reducing
risks of future health problems and provides many mental benefits as
well.

teens to participate on a team and learn the fundamentals of basketball. Relying on team
members is a reason why the South Langley Basketball society is a volunteer recreational
society. By allowing kids to participate in camps and travel on a team they are investing in
the future of their basketball ball team, as kids will learn, grow and continue to play the
sport. This investment will have an impact on the Langley society's future (Lunn 2021)
which is why they fall under the voluntary sector. Having a voluntary sports team in the
community promotes and encourages young kids to participate in leisure and recreational
