Service Sector: As stated by Lunn (2021) a public sector
provides recreation which regularly strengthens values and
ideals of creating and sustaining healthy lifestyles of individuals.
Bear creek park is accessible to all and incorporates in the
communal good of the society.

Bear creek park includes many high-quality recreation
amenities such as a playground, tracks/trails, fitness circuit,
etc.. These resources increase the quality of life and well being
of citizens as they have access to many resources

Service Sector: a public sector with appropriate cost for
individuals of all ages to achieve optimal health

Public recreation centres as stated by Lunn (2021) provide
opportunities for recreation to disadvantaged clients: the
poor, persons with physical or mental disabilities, and this
facility reinforces values and ideals of establishing and
maintaining a healthy lifestyle to the user.

Service Sector: Tamanawis park is a public park which
includes a facility as well as “providing those opportunities
deemed valuable by society” (Lunn, 2021, p.5).

"Recreation is a fundamental human need for persons of all
ages and is essential to a person’s physical and social well-
being and to overall quality of life” (Lunn, 2021, p.5).
Tamanawis park is used by many individuals for example
club teams, Tamanawis Secondary School gym class, soccer
clubs as ways to achieve peak performance and engage in
physical activity.

Service Sector: Club 16 is a commercial recreation facility as stated
by Lunn (2021) which is a recreation for which the consumer pays

Club 16 remains a popular gym as they provide quality products and
services, remain competitive and affordable and offer unique
products and services as stated by Lunn (2021). Club 16 is a spacious
gym that offer a variety of amenities to every member including
superior locker rooms, personal trainers, group fitness classes and
more as well as making individuals feel comfortable to make desired
lifestyle changes

This movie theatre is a local commercial recreation and falls
under one of the five categories of commercial recreation
services which is entertainment services as stated by Lunn
(2021). Many individuals use the movie theatre a way to be
involved in a social setting and spend time with friends and
family

“Local commercial recreation is divided into three
types of services: outdoor commercial recreation,
indoor commercial recreation, and clubs” (Lunn,
2021, p.6). Moreover, Birdies Golf Centre is an
outdoor commercial recreation which includes
employment opportunities, increase in property
values, and increased recreation opportunities
fore residents as stated by Lunn (2021).

12. 1. Field Hockey
Tackles Cancer

Service Sector: Field Hockey Tackles Cancer is a
nonprofit organization which occurs in the summer
as a 3-day tournament. This organization is a charity
initiative to raise cancer awareness through field
hockey. “The voluntary sector is the area of service
that has the closest ties to local communities, as
organizations in this sector are operated primarily by
volunteers” (Lunn, 2021, p.8).

This is part of recreation as individuals are solely
coming for the purpose of playing or volunteering
with friends for a good cause alongside aiding/
maintaining their healthy lifestyle and staying active

13. 2. R.E.C for
Kids Society
Address: 13379 – 68 Avenue Surrey BC V3W 2E8
Service Sector: The R.E.C. for Kids Society is a non-profit
organization under the B.C. Society Act that has
registered charitable status. They provide reconditioned
sports and recreational equipment to children in need.
As stated by Lunn (2021) voluntary sectors rely on the
efforts of members and volunteers for sustained
survival. Additionally, R.E.C for kids' society allows
individuals to donate used sports or recreational
equipment or bicycle as well as volunteer to repair
sports and recreational equipment.
SPSC 2210 Connection: Recreation
R.E.C for kid's society collects used sports and
recreational equipment that can be repaired and
redistributes to the underprivileged youth and give
these children a sense of community and ensure their
choices are positive ones through sports and other
recreational activities.

14. 3. Kids Play Youth Foundation

Service Sector: Kids Play is a non-profit organization working towards
keeping kids away from the lifestyle of drugs, gangs, and violence. Kids
Play holds sports tournaments, conferences, and other projects for the
youth community to learn about the opportunities they can take on
within life. “the five key features of non-profit organizations are that they
are organized, private, non-profit distributing, self-governing, and
voluntary” (Lunn, 2021, p.8). Kids play strongly showcases these features
throughout the various events, camps, conferences, and programs

As Kids play hosts many events for young individuals getting them
involved in sports and other recreational activities allowing them to
discover their potential, they have within themselves to reach greater
heights in life and to excel in any aspect of life
